The Leadership Pitfalls Of Leadership
Leaders Who Fall to the Pitfalls of Leadership
When an employee of an organization feels their performance and achievements do
not matter, that organization may ultimately suffer. Genuinely recognizing the
value of your employees will help stop a leader from falling into the pitfalls of
leadership, and having their employees enter into a dimension known as the critter
state . An employee that falls into this state is known to have their ideas and skills
fall short while they focus on a single question: What will keep me safe? (Comaford
C., 2013). Below, I will explore the leadership pitfalls and how to possibly avoid
them.
Pitfall Number 1: Failing to Respond to Employee Emails
I can recall a situation at a former employer, where I sent an email to my supervisor
asking for the following day off from work. I sent the email early in the morning to
give my employer enough time to consider my request. By mid afternoon, I did not
have a response. My supervisor was busier than usual that day, but I sent her
another email incase she forgot to reply. I still had no response by the end of the
day. I finally approached her and asked if she had a chance to read my email. She
then told me she could not approve my request because our office would be short
staffed. I understood the reason but did not understand why she did not respond to
my email. I left work that day feeling I was not important enough for her to respond
to my email. A simple and quick reply would have
Dr Lafleur Summary
The topic of Dr. LaFleur s presentation centered on the endocrine system and other
difficulties faced by residents of Louisiana. Due to the fact that Dr. LaFleur is a
professor of biology, his presentation was very informative and supported by many
years of research. Of all the topics touched upon during the presentation, there were
a few that definitely stood out to me. For instance, I found it very interesting to learn
that tributyltin, a chemical used in the paint of boat hull s, can cause female snails
in contaminated waters to grow male body parts. Another interesting point we came
upon focused on the insecticide known as DDT. Despite the fact that DDT has been
banned in the U.S. for a while now, it can still be found in a lot of inland
The Controversy of Stem Cell Research Essays
The Controversy of Stem Cell Research
One of the most controversial topics these days is Stem Cell Research. There seems
to be a split opinion among societies about the research and whether it is socially
and morally acceptable. As a society, we need to open our minds to the possibility of
broadening our scientific horizons with stem cell research, and take the time to learn
and understand whatever we can about it.
There are a lot of people who don t know exactly what Stem Cell Research is which
contributes to why a lot of people seem so against it. Stem Cell Research can best be
described as taking a stem cell, a primitive type of cell that can be coaxed into
developing into most of the 220 types of cells found in the ... Show more content on

There are a large amount of people, both political and social, that believe in the
advancement of the research of stem cells. Research is now being done ?in U.S.
private labs and in both government and private labs in the UK, Japan, France,
Australia, and other countries.? (Robinson). ?The former governor of California
also signed a bill into a law that is the first law that permits stem cell research in the
United States? (Robinson) which is now being followed up and executed by the
current governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Nancy Reagan also supports
stem cell research since her husband, former president Ronald Reagan died of
Alzheimer?s. ?Nancy Reagan and all of her family, except for Michael Reagan, have
mounted a campaign to encourage President Bush to relax restrictions on embryo
stem cell research. Fifty eight senators, almost all Democrats, sent a letter to
President Bush, urging the same action.? (Robinson).
Other big supporters of stem cell research are Senator Kerry and the widow of the
late Christopher Reeve, Dana Reeve. Kerry is a very liberal Democrat and is
known for his support on stem cell research; Dana Reeve is now giving her time to
carry on her late husband?s legacy of trying to win support on stem cell research.
?Senator John Kerry accused President Bush of slowing scientific advancement after
earning a special endorsement
Hypothyroidism vs. Hyperthyroidism
Hypo/Hyperthyroidism
Both hypo and hyperthyroidism are a result of a disease in caused by malfunction of
the thyroid gland located in the neck as represented by the image below left. The
causes of chronic hypothyroidism are fairly distinct. Around the world in third world
and developing countries, iodine deficiency is the most common cause of
hypothyroidism. This used to be true as well for developed countries, but today this
is a less common cause as iodine usually finds its way into our diets without too
much trouble. In modern day developed countries, hypothyroidism is mainly a result
of Hashimoto s thyroiditis, a birth defect which lacks a thyroid gland or a deficiency
of hormones from either the hypothalamus or the pituitary gland. ... Show more

Hyperthyroidism is caused by an excess of thyroxine (T4) or triiodothyronine (T3), or
both. This excess is a result of a malfunction of the thyroid gland as indicated by the
picture below. There are many different symptoms of hyperthyroidism, some of the
most common being major weight loss despite having a insatiable appetite, anxiety,
heat intolerance, fatigue, weakness, hyperactivity, irritability, apathy, depression, and
sweating. In addition, many experience shortness of breath, loss of balance, nausea,
vomiting, osteoporosis, and diarrhea. However, those who undergo hyperthyroidism
later in life may not experience most of these symptoms at all and instead only feel
constantly fatigued and considerable weight loss. Nonetheless, neurological
symptoms may occur in addition to the physical manifestations. These neurological
symptoms include tremor, chorea (ticks), myopathy (muscle weakness), and
temporary but periodic paralysis. There are a variety of ways to treat
hyperthyroidism, depending on the age of the patient, the size of their thyroid gland,
and their general health. The most common treatments include beta blockers, which
do not actually cure hyperthyroidism but mask some of the symptoms such as
tremors, anxiety and so on. This, however, is not advised for those with heart or lung
problems. Another possible treatment for this disease is radioactive iodine, or RAI.
RAI therapy is the most common treatment for hyperthyroidism
Essay The Popularity of The Burns and Allen Show
Vaudeville was very popular from the late 1800s to the early 1900s in North
America. Vaudeville shows were made up of many random acts that were placed
together in a common play bill. Some acts were, for example, plays, clowns,
jugglers, comedians, etc. Once the radio was introduced, vaudeville s started to
become less popular as the radio s popularity started to increase. The radio started
out with maximum five programs but as the demand for radios increased so did the
amount of programs, which went up to almost 500. Radios was the place families
and friends gathered to hear the news, sporting events, music, entertainment, etc. One
show millions of people listened to was The Burns and AllenShow, starring George

When Allen heard about the break up between comedian partners Lorraine and Burns,
Allen decided to make a partnership between Lorraine. Confusing Burns for Lorraine,
Burns accepted but did not tell Allen the truth. Three days into their partnership,
Burns finally confessed to Allen about the mixing up of identities. However, Allen
vowed to try and succeed in the comedy business with Burns as a partner. Starting
out as vaudevillians, Burns and Allen performed in different theatres and later
signed a five year contract with Keith Theater. Being known as the most popular
acts in the United States, Allen was invited to be a guest star on the radio. When
CBS noticed how talented Burns and Allen were on the radio, CBS offered a
contract. The shift between theater and radio was an advantage in the development of
domestic situation comedy. Domestic situation comedy gave the audience a sneak
peek into Burns and Allen s private lives, while pretending to be themselves during
the performance. The Burns and Allen Show were soon in the top 5 shows, having
millions of listeners weekly. Burns and Allen would at times do things that would
really grab attention from the audience. For example, when she was looking for her
lost brother George, Allen went from radio station to radio station announcing George
s disappearance. George was an accountant in San Francisco and was forced into
hiding until the stunt died down. Another

Advantages Of Wakalah
Apart from General takaful, wakalah model was applied in takaful family. In this
model, the contribution of revenue from the contributions and contributions are
divided into investment accounts (PIF), the risk of Accounts (PRF) and also
wakalah fees. The division between the PIF, PRF and wakalah fees are based on the
value or rate agreed in the contract. Fee income for the operator wakalah is based on
the concept of al Wakala bi al Ajr and budget management. PIF and surplus funds in
the PRF will be invested in instruments of government of Islam, Islamic private debt
securities and equity, fixed assets, cash accounts and investment accounts.
Investment gains will be distributed among the takaful operator and accounts
participants (PIF and PRF) in the form of a performance fee based on an agreed
ratio. In PIF funds collected and paid together with the benefits to participants upon
death, surrender or maturity. PRF funds used for expenses such as paying claims,

Although Takaful operators act as a trustee and manager of funds and get their share
of profit the form of Mudharabah or Wakalah fee, yet they have been criticized for
maximizing the shareholders profits while ignoring the rights of participants that are
major stakeholders of the company. In the absence of proper corporate governance
practices, company and its board of directors are not held accountable for their
decisions that are not favourable to participants or community at large. Moreover,
participants are not given positions in the board of directors so they have no right to
questioning decision of the board and feel themselves insecure (Abdel Karim Archer,

activities of Takaful operators and to protect the rights of
Sound In Unforgiven
Power and sound. Those are the two aspects of this film that stuck out to me while
I was watching Unforgiven. Clint Eastwood did a very good job of producing this
movie. I saw power in the Sheriff while he was attacking Bill. I saw great use of
sound while Ned was getting whipped, and also the music towards the end. Clint
Eastwooddid a great job showing the Sheriff s power. He did this several times
throughout the movie. However, one time I really noticed it, was when he was
attacking Bill. The Sheriff was at the top of the screen and Bill was at the bottom,
looking up at the Sheriff. Then Bill goes on to crawl through the bar and outside.
This shows that in this situation, the Sheriff is more powerful than Bill. The
director made this shot so that the Sheriff would seem stronger and would make
Bill look small and weak. This is important to Bill s character because Bill could
have tried to fight back. He did not because Bill knows when to pick fights, and
when to pass. It also shows that he is able to keep cool even though the Sheriff was
making fun of him. Granted, he was sick, but I think he could have fought back if he
wanted too. This type of power can also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I saw two ways that sound was used very effectively. One was when Ned was
getting whipped, and another was the music at the end. In the scene where Ned
was getting whipped, the camera turns away from Ned, and looks to the people in
the streets who are watching. You continue to hear the sound of Ned getting
whipped and him crying out in agony. Even though you can t see Ned, we still
know what is going on. This helps to build a bit of suspense because the audience
does not know when it will stop or even if it will. Everytime the whip was cracked, I
flinched a little bit. I could not see the pain Ned was going through, I still knew it
was there because of the sound. This really makes the audience feel bad for Ned and
wonder if he is going to be
Essay about What I Learned in MGT 422
What I learn in MGT 422: Production Management this semester is some useful
information that will greatly benefit in the future. There were several topics we
covered this semester but there were only a selected few that caught my attention.
Those four things I learned this semester that caught my attention were: the
productivity theory, the slowest worker theory, the assign and on duty approach, and
the process of making a prosthetic body part.
First, the productivity theory is where the output of a company is divided by the input
to determine if the company will have a negative or possible percentage of
productivity. For example, if a company has an output of 275000 and an input of
210000; the company will have a 1.19 percent of ... Show more content on

For example: if the manager will like 4 employees to come in at 7 a.m., 8
employees at 8 a.m., 12 employees at 9 a.m., and 20 employees at 10 a.m.; the
manager will assigned 4 employees at 7 a.m., 4 employees at 8 a.m., 4 employees at
9 a.m., and 8 employees at 10 a.m.. After management completed assigning
employees to a particular hour, they will have to determine how employees are on
duty at those hours. There will be 4 employees on duty at 7 a.m., 8 employees on
duty at 8 a.m., 12 employees on duty at 9 a.m., and 20 employees on duty at 10
a.m. This process is helpful to managers because they can determine what approach
they should use to make sure they have the required number of employees for each
hour. I was very intrigued with the assigned and on duty approach because it will be
a strategy I will have to use in the future in my business operation.
Finally, the process of making a prosthetic body part was a very insight learning
objective. I learned there are two types of prosthetic: AK and BK. AK prosthetic is
where a person loses their bottom part of their leg below the knee cap, and a BK
prosthetic is where a person loses their entire leg. During our trip the Prosthetic
Service, we had the privilege to meet a person who was an AK prosthetic and a
person who was a BK prosthetic. The BK prosthetic was an individual who enjoyed
hunting and fishing so he

The Defendants Eugene Wong And Mary Wong
The Defendants Eugene Wong and Mary Wong had been hired to care for 3 month
old infant, Kwok Wei by the infant s parents, The Jiangs, due to heavy 12 hour per
day workdays. Because of their workload, the infant s parents felt 24 hour care was
needed for their child, and therefore responded to a newspaper ad for care
(advertised by the Defendants). Upon entering a legal, binding contract for care, The
Jiangs were told that DefendantMary Wong would be providing much of their baby s
care and that her husband, Eugene Wong, would also be tending to Kwok Wei s
needs as well. The agreement was that the infantwould sleep in a crib located directly
next to the Defendant s bed. The Defendants were to provide care in their one
bedroom apartment, located in Manhattan, New York (New York Times, 1993). On
the evening of July 3, 1988 The Jiangs visited their child for the first time (NY
Times). Four days later (July, 7, 1988) about 6:30 am, Defendant Mary Wong placed
a call to the infant s father to inform him that his baby could not be awaken and that
the baby was dead. At that time explained she that the baby had been crying the
previous night continuously from about 12 midnight until 2:00 am, the baby had
been given gripe water (a Chinese remedy), and eventually everyone went to sleep.
Defendant Mary Wong also stated that when she and her husband awoke the next
morning they found the baby unconscious and stated he had turned black . According

The Mobile Phone Industry, Like The Internet
Sprint Nextel Merger Introduction: The mobile phone industry, like the Internet, is
one of the fastest and ever developing industries. Since 1994, the production of cell
phones has increased from 24 million to 182 million in wireless phone. The market
of cell phones in the United States is constantly increasing and the 162 million users
will increase in the next few years. . This tremendous increase is due to the current
and ongoing development of technology and innovation in perfecting the cell phone.
Throughout the history of the mobile phone industries collaborate with each other in
order to stay successful in this fast changing field. Worldwide wireless companies
have been cooperating with each other. This collaboration is due to a lot of reasons
that all relate to the firm s attempts to stay profitable. Wireless companies have the
opportunity to get market shares for both products and accessories. When these
companies merge they can then share their markets and products and offer a good
service to its customers. Without working together smaller wireless companies at
times fall victim to the strong competitions and they will eventually become bankrupt
and forced to shut down. Therefore, collaboration is necessary within the cell phone
industry to maintain profits and increase customer base. One of the ways that cell
phone companies maintain profits and increase customer base is through merger or
acquisition with other companies to share new technologies for

Descriptive Essay About Friends
I was a sophomore in High School, Ellen was a freshman and by the beginning of
the calendar year, we were wildly popular, it seemed as if every freshman and
sophomore on campus knew who we were. We often dressed alike, something we
retained from when we were children and our mother clothed us in the same outfits,
we teased our hair up in bouffant styles, wore heaps of mascara, and eyeliner
artistically drawing little wings in the corner of our eyes. My sister and I were part
of the in crowd and fashionably trendy.
Our circle of friends was a diverse group of classmates; Ellen had her freshman
friends and I had my sophomore friends, however, our closest, bosom buddy
friends, were three long haired individuals named Allen, Adrian and Glenn. For
some reason, we enjoyed their company and spent most of our time with these lost
souls. All our classmates knew that the five of us were best friends. At lunch, we
met at the school entrance, walked to the Diner at Walgreens together, ordered
whatever the five of us combined, could afford; a few servings of French Fries;
two or three hamburgers, a couple of sodas which we shared among us, as we
whiled away the lunch hour, solving the teenage problems of the world. I will never,
ever, in a million years forget my sixteenth birthday when Ellen, Allen, Adrian and
Glenn arranged to have a professional photo taken as a surprise gift for me. Wearing
complimenting outfits in greens and blues, they looked like a famous rock band.

Christopher Boone Narrator
Introduction
One night 15 year old Christopher Boone finds his neighbour s dog dead in her
front yard. Christopher wonders who killed it, and decides to write a book in
which he tries to figure it out, like a murder mystery novel. Although it s not
directly stated, the narrator s text implies that he has an autism spectrum disorder
called Asperger s Syndrome. We can infer this because he displays traits of the
disorder. For example, it s difficult for him to understand social norms like body
language and other forms of human interaction. He is, however, tremendously good
at math and more logic based skills. Christopher is an unreliable narrator because he
has an extremely skewed and biased perspective cannot communicate properly and is
only capable of extremely limited emotional interactions. ... Show more content on

Fungi Lab Report
Fungi Growth
Introduction
All humans have come into contact with some form of fungi at some point in their
lives. Sometimes fungi produce large mushroom like structures, or sometimes they
just appear as small wisps of hair. But with so many different forms and variations of
fungi, sometimes they become hard to classify, and there is confusion as to whether
it maybe a plant or bacteria. Buckholz et al (2016) state that the fungal kingdom
deserves to be neither a prokaryote not a plant. Fungi are eukaryotic organisms that
contain a membrane bound nucleus. They are also heterotrophic and consume their
carbon. The main difference between animals and fungi is that fungi perform their
digestion externally (Buckholz et al. 2016). This leads to the importance of fungi:
decomposing. Fungi maintain crucial processes in terrestrial ecosystems as
decomposers of dead plant tissues and mutualistic partners of almost all terrestrial
multicellular organisms (Heilmann Clausen et al. 2015). Without fungi, ... Show more

there was no competition. Eddie s deep, emotional messages throughout this album,

this album and every album made by Eddie Vedder.
In the song Given To Fly Eddie says He got up out of there, ran for hundreds of
miles / He made it to the ocean, had a smoke in a tree / The wind rose up, set him
down on his knee. In this verse Eddie is describing his life and how he needs to get
away from it all and just have a peaceful break, alone. Vedder likes to use his life in
third person in most of his songs to make his message more distant, and almost
more easily relatable. The song Given To Fly is actually a second or a reference to
the song Going to California By Led Zeppelin and how just leaving might help out
more than anything. Throughout the album there are several different songs with
an abundance of different meanings. The song, Alive, has one of the deepest
messages that is tied to his life personally. The song is about a boy that finds out
that who he thought was his father, is actually his stepfather and his real father is
dead. Eddie said the song is a work of fiction based on reality (SK) . When Vedder
was born his mom had left his father and

I Am Owned By Three Dogs
As I like to say, I am owned by three dogs. Anybody who has dogs, knows people
who have dogs, has ever seen a dog, or even is aware that dogs exist, knows that
dogs like to bark. Some dogs naturally bark more than others, but I do believe I
have three of the barkiest dogs on this planet. (Is barkiest even a word? If not, it is
now, because that s what I have). My dogs like to bark whenever anybody comes
into the house, whether they are family or not. They bark when company goes out
the door. My dogs like to bark at neighbors walking down the sidewalk, and if those
neighbors are walking their dogs, they bark even louder! My dogs like to bark at
small critters in the yard, when the neighbor slams a car door shut, and when the
washing machine back in my laundry room brakes after the spin cycle. In effect, they
think they must bark all the time. All this barking dognoise becomes quite stressful.
When my poor husband comes home from work, all the dogs come to greet him,
and Twix (a beagle/sheltie cross) is the worst of all. Being part beagle, she is quite
vocal by nature. She gets so excited whenever family comes home that she goes on
a five minute barking spree. She was trained by her previous owner, my daughter in
law, to respond to a quiet command but it s usually ineffective. She knows she s
supposed to shut up, but she just can t control her excitement. The other two dogs
also understand the word quiet but they don t listen either. Martha is an anxious dog

School Mold Research Paper
As soon as you spot even a small patch of mold in your bathroom, you need to take
action. Mold can quickly grow and spread from a tiny patch the size of a dime to a
patch that is at least a square foot in a very short matter of time. Due to how quickly
mold spreads and due to the fact that some mold is harmful, any moldthat shows up
in your bathroom needs to be addressed quickly.
Location Of The Mold
The first thing you need to do is look at the location of the mold. If the mold is on a
solid, non porous surface, such as your bathroom wall or shower wall, you can clean
the mold.
However, if the mold is on a porous surface, such as on the carpet or on the pad in
your bathtub, you should not clean the object. You should remove the object from
your bathroom inside of a sealed plastic bag and throw it away. It can be next to
impossible to remove mold from a porous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first thing you will want to do is put on protective gear. You should always
wear gloves and a mask when dealing with mold. In case the mold is toxic, you don
t want to breath it in or get it on you.
Next, you need to create a cleaning solution. Fill a clean spray bottle 3/4 full with
warm water, and then top off the other 1/4 of the bottle with bleach. This strong
solution will help kill the mold in your bathroom.
Spray the solution you created over the entire infected area. You may also want to
spray a few inches around the infected area; it generally takes time for mold to
become visible to the naked eye, which is why it is a good idea to clean beyond its
visible boundaries.
Let the solution sink in for a minute or so; then use a scrub brush to scrub away the
mold. After you have scrubbed the area for a few minutes, wipe it down with a paper
towel. Place the scrub brush and paper towel into a plastic trash bag; mold spores are
microscopic, so it is best to bag and throw away any cleaning materials you
Susan B. Anthony And The Abolitionist Movement
Susan B. Anthony devoted her life to the rights of women s labor, receiving equal
pay, and leading the women s suffrage movement. She grew up in a home where
politics was frequently discussed. Her family supported an end to slavery as part
of the abolitionist movement. In her early years, she was a teacher and became
involved in the temperance movement as well as the anti slavery movement.
Because she was a woman, she was not allowed to voice her opinion. This became
a motivator for her to become a woman s suffrage leader. A skilled, talented woman
made a difference when she joined forces with Stanton. As mentioned earlier,
Stanton and Anthony opposed the fourteenth and fifteen amendments for not
liberating women. As Mayo states, she published The Revolution, a radical paper,
edited by Stanton (1868 1870), and lectured for over six years to pay off its debt.
(Rights for Women, para.3) She was arrested for voting in 1872. She led a woman s
protest at the 1876 Centennial delivering a Declaration of Rights written by Stanton
and Matilda Gage. She wrote and published, with Stanton and Gage the History of
Woman Suffrage (1881 1885) (Mayo para. 5). Although she was arrested and it
seemed like nothing came easy, she never gave up. Anthony was a hard working
woman that rallied many in hopes of advancing women s rights. She gathered
signatures on suffrage petitions at the state and national levels, undertook arduous
state tours to organize suffrage campaigns in the states
Short Term Effects of Street Racing
Ever wondered what the short and long term effects on street racing were? Street
racing has more risks and consequences than you would think. Many consequences
range from a simple ticket to an accident that can haunt you or someone else for
many more years. Street racing laws should include opening up drag strips so people
can go race legally, and the city can make some money. Street racingcan have many
consequences, long termor short term for either the people you love, the people who
love you, or even just you. Although most people never get caught and never will,
the consequences can prove to be quite fatal. Many people who do get caught for
racing face major fines, and sometimes they will lose their vehicles and maybe
license all for them to have a great time for 5 minutes. One person, who goes by
Morgan, found out the hard way what could result from street racing, the fines and
the aftermath consequences he has to live with for the rest of his life. ( ) shares
that the fine for racing can be expensive by stating Morgan must pay a $1,000 fine,

The crowd is stomping their feet chanting USA! USA! , trying to make as much

Hardy Boys The Tower Treasure Summary
I have read the Hardy Boys The Tower Treasure by Franklin W. Dixon. The Hardy
Boys were delivering paper for their dad on their motorcycles. a blue car went
flying by and then it went flying by again. They climbed the hill next to them and
delivered the papers. They were going to Chets house to say hi, and they saw the
blue car had crashed into a ditch there was no one in the car. They went down Chets
driveway and saw that Chet was sad; the man had stolen Chets yellow car. Chet and
the Hardy Boyswent around town asking if anyone say a yellow car go bye. Their
friend Callie who had a cake in her hand said Chets yellow car was going so fast
that it scared her and she dropped the cake. The Hardy Boys went to the police
station to see if the Chief knew anything. Once they got there, they saw that their
rival detective, Detective Smuff was there with a man that worked at a ticket
both. They were reporting a man in Chets yellow car had attempted to rob the
ticket booth. The next day the boys were on the case and they had called in a
couple of their friends to help. They all split up to look for clues and at the end
they would meet at the park. At the park they ate and took a nap once they woke
up they looked in the last place it could have been in, in. they looked in the woods
near the park where there was an old dump they split up and looked. They found
footsteps in the mud that led to small path in the woods and they walked along the
path. Chets car was at the end of the path. All of them piled in the car and drove
along the highway calling out that they have found the car. They saw Smuff and
Bragged but he didn t care there was a new case the tower has been robbed. The
Hardy boys were on the hunt for clues. They went to the tower with their dad
where Mr. Applegate accused Mr. Robinson of the robbery because he was the
only one who has ever seen the safe open. That was the Hardy boys friends dad.
They wanted to solve the mystery so Mr. Robinson could get a job and they could
go to school with their friend. They suspected that the man who stole Chets car was
the one who did it but they had no evidence. They gave their dad the wig, and he
looked inside and saw a tag with a name on it. They went to New York to find
Hiv Essay
a.The evidence it s a new strain of DNA is that her viral load was not able to be
quantified using group M specific assay or even a generic HIV test. Researchers
thought the woman had type O because that would make the most logical sense
given that she is from Cameroon, but when they used group O specific primers, they
didn t see any amplification. They were finally able to prove that this was a totally
new strain of HIVwhen they performed a nonspecific RT PCR which was able to
amplify and viral load. Because the PCR was non specific, meaning it had no
primers specific to a type of HIV, the sequence was able to be amplified and then
sequenced which gave rise to the RBF168 strain.

It makes logical sense that a primate passed on SIV to a human because in Africa,
where HIV originated, humans lived in very close contact with primates. Monkey
could have scrated a human, and the human could have developed HIV, and then
passed it on to other people.
4.Do you think that there is sufficient evidence to believe that this new strain is a
minor variant with low overall impact on the human population? Why or why not?
a.I have mixed feelings. Part of me feels as though yes, there is evidence that the
new strain has a very low impact on the human population. This is because the new
strain is very rare since it was detected in only one individual. HIV is a virus that
evolves so quickly and there is probably a lot more rare strains that we don t even
know about. In order for a strain to be prevalent, it needs to be found in a lot of
people, like groups M, N, and O. And that simply is not the case with this new found
strain.
b.But then the other part of me believes that all the HIV tests we have today are
geared only for the types of HIV we know to exist. The tests can t test for new strains,
which makes me think that there are so many strains of HIV circulating around that
we have no idea exist and they have potentially to spread. And although not dominant
now, they have the potential to become dominant and prevalent if treatment for these
new strains is not created, and therefore have they will have an impact on
The Importance Of International Terrorism
The growing scope and complexity of international terrorism, particularly the threat to
diplomats and diplomatic facilities, has caused widespread concern among members
of the international community and prompted a lively debate on the measures
appropriate for their protection. Consideration of this matter, however, has been
greatly complicated not only by differing interpretations of the nature of terrorism but
by the involvement of states themselves in terrorist activities.
Once again, this problem is not new but since the 1960s, when terrorism emerged as
a coherent doctrine of revolutionary warfare and a myriad groups sprang up around
the world to capitalise on the increased vulnerability of modern society, the
involvement of government s in terrorism has been given considerable attention. The
debate over this matter has been heightened by the open admission of some states
that they were prepared to sponsor terrorist groups as a means of extending their
foreign policy options and by the Reagan Administration s insistence that terrorism
has become a global issue with the potential to destroy diplomacy, undermine world
stability and threaten civilisation itself .1
Despite the fact that the diplomatic laws have been in practice since the beginning
of early civilizations, states have often acted in a manner contrary to VCDR
principles and laws. There have been earlier incidents of the violation of inviolability
of diplomatic privileges by the receiving state but most of them
Essay on Art from Baroque Period Through the Postmodern
Era
Art from Baroque Period through the Postmodern Era
Renaissance art history began as civic history; it was an expression of civic pride.
The first such history was Filippo Villani s De origine civitatis Florentiae et eiusdem
famosis civibus, written about 1381 82. Florentine artists revived an art that was
almost dead, Villani asserts, just as Dante had restored poetry after its decline in the
Middle Ages. The revival was begun by Cimabue and completed by Giotto, who
equalled the ancient painters in fame and even surpassed them in skill and talent.
After Giotto came his followers, Stefano, Taddeo Gaddi, and Maso, uomini illustri all,
who, together with notable jurists, poets, musicians, theologians, physicians, orators,
and others, made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While rare for being texts on art, they are of a type, however, that was common in
Renaissance literature. They belong to a genre or category in which are found some
of the most characteristic texts of Renaissance humanism. Other of the books in this
category are by such writers as Bruni, Salutati, and Manetti, books with which all
students of the Renaissance are familiar. They treat broad moral and philosophical
issues, but, as in the accounts of visual art, only insofar as they concern the city of
Florence. And scholars reasonably have asked why there was such a preoccupation
with Florence at this time. One of those who did so was Hans Baron and his answer
has been at the center of discussions of this question since the 1950s.
Baron linked the focus on Florence during the years around 1400 to a struggle over
Florentine independence that began in 1390 with a declaration of war by Milan and
ended only in 1454, when Milan accepted the independent status of the Florentine
Republic. These events, he proposed, explain the direction taken by Florentine
political speculation at this time, particularly the stress on republican ideals of
liberty and civic involvement; they gave rise to a distinctive type of humanism,
rooted in a new philosophy of political engagement and active life, and devoted to the
celebration of Florence s republican liberties.
Bruni was responding not to recent events in Florence, came the rejoinder, but
Women s Choice Of Attire
Oh, how she waited in anticipation when one of the servants informed her that she
had arrived, and without her husband no less. Her husband had disappeared, but
once she was informed of his whereabouts and what he was doing, she just shook
her head. She had a more important fool to entertain her. Madelyn just couldn t
stand the wait to laugh at the woman s choice of attire. Unfortunately and most
likely, the woman would take her mirth as a sign of approval and not scorn. Just
because something was an original from a famous designer didn t mean it was
pleasant to the eye or presentable as an everyday garment. At times she didn t
know if the woman was courageous or brainless when it came to her choice of
apparel. When she appeared in all her glory, she hadn t disappointed her in the

The Importance Of The Ghost In Hamlet
The Ghost is approached as an important figure in Hamlet, he plays the role of
Hamlet s father. The ghost presence is a key factor in the play. As we can see that
many factors and scenes are caused by him physically being there and psychologically
getting into hamlets head The ghost in Hamlet is essential to the plot of the play and
to an understanding of both the problem, hamlet, and his character (Joseph 493). We
can see the appearance of the ghostin several scenes in Act one.
The first scene of act one is mainly about an earlier appearance of the ghost to
certain characters and later after that, it is a dialogue between the ghost and
hamlet; The fifth scene of Act one is considered the first main dialogue carried. In
it we see and understand the purpose of the ghost s appearance which is a revenge
based appearance in the order of which hamlet has to kill Claudius for the ghost to
rest in peace Hamlet s delay in obeying the ghost s command is adequately
accounted for if, as I hope to demonstrate, Shakespeare shows by deft details which
are dramatically convincing that the ghost is being tested (including the play test)
by the group of men who see him in accordance with the procedure for the
discernment of spirits out lined above (Joseph 495). Hamlet reconnects once again
with the ghost in Act 3 in the most improbable place the Queen Gertrude s

The Firebird Suite is a ballet composed by Igor Stravinsky in 1910. I am particularly

Another thing that proves that soccer is definitely the most popular sport
worldwide is because of how many people play it and watch it. According to most
popular sports worldwide it says with over 4 billion followers of football, it is by
far the most popular sport in the world. Considering all of our criteria factors
football top most of them we have discussed major factors which makes football s
popularity unmatched. It also states Football s dominance over the globe is so
obvious that it really shouldn t be a surprise for anyone to see football s name at
the top of the list. The Beautiful Game, as they call it, has fans in as east as Japan
and as West as America but nowhere on earth is this game more popular than in
Europe. For most European nations, it s not just a game rather it s a way of life.
FIFA World Cupis the most iconic event of this sport which is not only the most
watched team event but also one of the highest paying competitions in the whole
sports world. These quotes from the article prove that worldwide people take soccer
/football very realistic causing it to be the most popular sport worldwide. While in

from Britain but somehow we still don t share the same interests. Many things are
way different such as sports. Another thing is that the top most paid athletes are

The Golden State
California, nicknamed the Golden State, has attracted many an immigrant through the
years. From the migrations of peoples thousands of years ago that led to the
establishment of the many Native American tribes that populated the land, to the
Spanish and Americans in later centuries, one wonders what attracted all to the
farthest frontier, the unsettled west coast. That is until you delve deeper into what
the land had to offer as an economic source. The year 1769 saw Gaspar de Portola
and Father Saint JunГpero Serra leading the first permanent European settlers to
California. Before the end of the century, missions were established along the coast
and towns were established, especially Los Angeles in 1781. The establishment of
missions and towns began economic growth based on agricultural production and
Native American labor that would soon lead to cities, ranches and local owners under
Mexican occupation taking the same advantage to produce locally until the United
Statesbrought a wave of new settlement and industrial ideas that would sweep local
trade and production into a new era of transcontinental economic growth,
transportation and financial gains.
In 1542, Juan Cabrillo made his way up what the coast of what the Spanish called
Alta California from the newly conquered Spanish province of Mexico in search of
gold, but he only found Native Americans living on land that consisted of thousands
of square miles of fertile valleys, high mountains, freshwater lakes, and
Relationships In The Illiad
Relationships impact all lives. Familial bonds, friendships, and finding a partner are
desires people have. Homer successfully executes the working relationships in the
poem. The Illiad circumnavigates through the hardships of relationships. It also
shows how important and vital they can be. The relationships between the gods and
the mortals add a balance to the corrupt world they live in. Additionally, their
similarities tie them together to create everlasting relationships. Nonetheless, the
relationships between the mortals and gods are strong. Through their alikeness and
need for control they create an atmosphere of comfort for each other. The gods are
known as being divine, but they also have human qualities. They have affairs,... Show

They can disrupt the war whenever they feel is best. Since Zeus promises to help
the Trojans he finds several ways corrupt the efforts of the Archaeans (Book II).
Hera sees men fleeing to their ship after Agamemnon fakes a forfeit, and Athena
convinces Odysseus to call back the men (Book II). Aphrodite also saves Paris
from death against Menelaus. In all of these instances, the mortals could have had
different outcomes without the intervention of the gods. The gods favored sides
also aid in the successes and failures of the war. For example, Apollo helps the
Archaeans by wounding Patroclus so that Hector can kill him (Book 16).
Additionally, Apollo gets Zeus to tell Thetis to negotiate with Achilles about
getting Hector s body as a ransom (Book 24). It comes to show that the gods can
easily manipulate the mortals to do anything they ask. In athletic competitions,
such as the one that Achilles holds after Patroclus funeral, Diomedes wins with the
help of Athena (Book 23). The gods do not have the need to follow their fate,
humans, however, have to follow their fate. The gods follow their ideal fate in
order to keep balance in the world. For example, when Zeus son, Sarpedon, is in
...the hands of Menoitios son Patroklos... (Book 16), Zeus thinks about saving him.
The issue with this is, if Zeus decides to save him, the other gods are going to
believe that they can do the same and save their children. This will alter the fate of a
Dead Men s Path, By Chinua Achebe
Dead Men s Path is a short story written in 1972 by African Author Chinua Achebe. It
is about Michael Obi, a youthful and vivacious man amped up for everything present
day who is simply doled out a position to run a conventional school. Not long into the
activity, he finds that alongside his confused energy, disregarding the conventions of
his kin can have incredible results.
Obi is a splendid and energetic young fellow who is eager to discover that he will
be the new dean of a school that has been in urgent need of assistance for quite a
while. Obi was viewed as an essential educator and he and his significant other are
both ground breaking and anxious to impart the cutting edge life to everybody.
Chinua Achebe demonstrates the Obi s cutting edge excitement by stating: We
should give a valiant effort, she Obi s significant other) answered. We might have
such excellent patio nurseries and everything will be simply current and delightful...
He likewise demonstrates Obi s perspectives of the traditionalist individuals by
assaulting their character alluding to them as, these old and superannuated
individuals in the educating field. Of his two objectives for the school, one was to
make the grounds a position of magnificence. An up and coming review was the
ideal inspiration to start what he thought to be incredible upgrades. In time the
greenery enclosures bloomed with excellent red and yellow blossoms. As Obi is
appreciating his work, he goes over an old lady from
Neuman s Health Care System Model
Running head: Neuman s Health Care System ModelNeuman s Health Care System
Model Ishani Patel RN BSN LaSalle University Neuman s Health Care System Model
Several nursing theory models are available to assist the nurse in assessing and
evaluating a family, creating a care plan for a family, and determining which
interventions are most applicable to the family s needs, strengths, and weaknesses.
The Neuman s Systems Model, created in 1983 by nursing theorist/educator Betty
Neuman, is a theory that encompasses the family as a whole rather than focusing on
the individual patient, and offers ways in which the family can react to outside
stressors and return to a whole state after the stressor is gone. Newman believes that
each person is a layered, multi dimensional being and identifies methods of coping
with outside stressors that include three types of interventions that help the patient
and family cope with these stressors. In the primary intervention, the focus is on
wellness and preventing the stressor from affecting the individual or family. An
example of an outside stressor would be an acute illness, chronic illness, divorce,
financial difficulties, and mental health issues. The healthy family will have lines of
defense that will keep the stressor from affecting the stability of the family. In the
second intervention, the focus is on restoring stability to the family after the stressor
has affected them. The third intervention, maintenance of
We Must Spend More Time Outside
Story Name
Clouds loomed overhead as he ran through the forest. Though odd branches and stray
roots hit him and knocked him over, he did not stop for even a second, not even to
catch his breath. Lightning crackled down, like a destructive shot of a giant cannon,
and hit a nearby tree. Thunder boomed overhead, a timely reminder of his mortality.
Though he may outrun his mortal pursuers, he would never flee from the elements.
As he ran, he realised he had been encircled. He would meet a certain death soon...
Stop reading now, William! That was my mum.
But I was getting to a exciting part!
You need to spend more time outside.
Do I?
Yes you do! Go outside and spend some time in the fresh air!

He first propped his leg in a small but not too small gap, then he reached out with his
hand and grabbed the edge of the top of the bright yellow tunnel. He groaned and
sweated as he pulled his body slowly up to the top. When he finally got there, after
what seemed like an eternity of groaning, he lay on top of the tunnel and rested for a
few minutes, tired but satisfied by the view. Describe
It seemed like a long way off the ground to the boy, but he was not afraid of heights
and did not feel dizzy at the sight. He carefully turned his body toward the rest of
the playground and saw a few older kids shouting and laughing. He craned his head
toward the right and saw his parents, chatting with another couple. The boy rotated
his head upward and saw the bright sunny day. The clouds were a dreamy,
translucent white. The clouds formed into shapes as the imagination of the boy
raced on. A bird, no, it was a plus sign or even a tower.
The tower shaped cloud reminded the boy of his goal. To climbthe tower. He slowly
stood up and for a few moments, wobbled and lurched like he was about to fall. He
could hear his parents worried calls and then relief. His hand had grabbed the side of
the roof of the tower.
Be careful! That was his my dad.
After the shock of nearly falling wore off, the small boy with black hair decided to
start the second part of the excruciating climb. He placed his foot into a gap and then
hoisted himself upwards. His slim arms

  • 2. The Leadership Pitfalls Of Leadership Leaders Who Fall to the Pitfalls of Leadership When an employee of an organization feels their performance and achievements do not matter, that organization may ultimately suffer. Genuinely recognizing the value of your employees will help stop a leader from falling into the pitfalls of leadership, and having their employees enter into a dimension known as the critter state . An employee that falls into this state is known to have their ideas and skills fall short while they focus on a single question: What will keep me safe? (Comaford C., 2013). Below, I will explore the leadership pitfalls and how to possibly avoid them. Pitfall Number 1: Failing to Respond to Employee Emails I can recall a situation at a former employer, where I sent an email to my supervisor asking for the following day off from work. I sent the email early in the morning to give my employer enough time to consider my request. By mid afternoon, I did not have a response. My supervisor was busier than usual that day, but I sent her another email incase she forgot to reply. I still had no response by the end of the day. I finally approached her and asked if she had a chance to read my email. She then told me she could not approve my request because our office would be short staffed. I understood the reason but did not understand why she did not respond to my email. I left work that day feeling I was not important enough for her to respond to my email. A simple and quick reply would have

Due to the fact that Dr. LaFleur is a professor of biology, his presentation was very informative and supported by many years of research. Of all the topics touched upon during the presentation, there were a few that definitely stood out to me. For instance, I found it very interesting to learn that tributyltin, a chemical used in the paint of boat hull s, can cause female snails in contaminated waters to grow male body parts. Another interesting point we came upon focused on the insecticide known as DDT. Despite the fact that DDT has been banned in the U.S. for a while now, it can still be found in a lot of inland

There seems to be a split opinion among societies about the research and whether it is socially and morally acceptable. As a society, we need to open our minds to the possibility of broadening our scientific horizons with stem cell research, and take the time to learn and understand whatever we can about it. There are a lot of people who don t know exactly what Stem Cell Research is which contributes to why a lot of people seem so against it. (Robinson). ?The former governor of California also signed a bill into a law that is the first law that permits stem cell research in the United States? (Robinson) which is now being followed up and executed by the current governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Nancy Reagan also supports stem cell research since her husband, former president Ronald Reagan died of Alzheimer?s. ?Nancy Reagan and all of her family, except for Michael Reagan, have mounted a campaign to encourage President Bush to relax restrictions on embryo stem cell research. Fifty eight senators, almost all Democrats, sent a letter to President Bush, urging the same action.? (Robinson). Other big supporters of stem cell research are Senator Kerry and the widow of the late Christopher Reeve, Dana Reeve. Kerry is a very liberal Democrat and is known for his support on stem cell research; Dana Reeve is now giving her time to carry on her late husband?s legacy of trying to win support on stem cell research. ?Senator John Kerry accused President Bush of slowing scientific advancement after earning a special endorsement

Hypothyroidism vs. Hyperthyroidism Hypo/Hyperthyroidism Both hypo and hyperthyroidism are a result of a disease in caused by malfunction of the thyroid gland located in the neck as represented by the image below left. The causes of chronic hypothyroidism are fairly distinct. Around the world in third world and developing countries, iodine deficiency is the most common cause of hypothyroidism. This used to be true as well for developed countries, but today this is a less common cause as iodine usually finds its way into our diets without too much trouble. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hyperthyroidism is caused by an excess of thyroxine (T4) or triiodothyronine (T3), or both. This excess is a result of a malfunction of the thyroid gland as indicated by the picture below. There are many different symptoms of hyperthyroidism, some of the most common being major weight loss despite having a insatiable appetite, anxiety, heat intolerance, fatigue, weakness, hyperactivity, irritability, apathy, depression, and sweating. In addition, many experience shortness of breath, loss of balance, nausea, vomiting, osteoporosis, and diarrhea. However, those who undergo hyperthyroidism later in life may not experience most of these symptoms at all and instead only feel constantly fatigued and considerable weight loss. Nonetheless, neurological symptoms may occur in addition to the physical manifestations. These neurological symptoms include tremor, chorea (ticks), myopathy (muscle weakness), and temporary but periodic paralysis. There are a variety of ways to treat hyperthyroidism, depending on the age of the patient, the size of their thyroid gland, and their general health. The most common treatments include beta blockers, which do not actually cure hyperthyroidism but mask some of the symptoms such as tremors, anxiety and so on. This, however, is not advised for those with heart or lung problems. Another possible treatment for this disease is radioactive iodine, or RAI. RAI therapy is the most common treatment for hyperthyroidism

Vaudeville shows were made up of many random acts that were placed together in a common play bill. Some acts were, for example, plays, clowns, jugglers, comedians, etc. Once the radio was introduced, vaudeville s started to become less popular as the radio s popularity started to increase. The radio started out with maximum five programs but as the demand for radios increased so did the amount of programs, which went up to almost 500. However, Allen vowed to try and succeed in the comedy business with Burns as a partner. Starting out as vaudevillians, Burns and Allen performed in different theatres and later signed a five year contract with Keith Theater. Being known as the most popular acts in the United States, Allen was invited to be a guest star on the radio. When CBS noticed how talented Burns and Allen were on the radio, CBS offered a contract. The shift between theater and radio was an advantage in the development of domestic situation comedy. Domestic situation comedy gave the audience a sneak peek into Burns and Allen s private lives, while pretending to be themselves during the performance. The Burns and Allen Show were soon in the top 5 shows, having millions of listeners weekly. Burns and Allen would at times do things that would really grab attention from the audience. For example, when she was looking for her lost brother George, Allen went from radio station to radio station announcing George s disappearance. George was an accountant in San Francisco and was forced into hiding until the stunt died down. Another

I saw power in the Sheriff while he was attacking Bill. I saw great use of sound while Ned was getting whipped, and also the music towards the end. Clint Eastwooddid a great job showing the Sheriff s power. He did this several times throughout the movie. However, one time I really noticed it, was when he was attacking Bill. The Sheriff was at the top of the screen and Bill was at the bottom, looking up at the Sheriff. Then Bill goes on to crawl through the bar and outside. This shows that in this situation, the Sheriff is more powerful than Bill. The director made this shot so that the Sheriff would seem stronger and would make Bill look small and weak. This is important to Bill s character because Bill could have tried to fight back. He did not because Bill knows when to pick fights, and when to pass. It also shows that he is able to keep cool even though the Sheriff was making fun of him. Granted, he was sick, but I think he could have fought back if he wanted too. This type of power can also... You continue to hear the sound of Ned getting whipped and him crying out in agony. Even though you can t see Ned, we still know what is going on. This helps to build a bit of suspense because the audience does not know when it will stop or even if it will. Everytime the whip was cracked, I flinched a little bit. I could not see the pain Ned was going through, I still knew it was there because of the sound. This really makes the audience feel bad for Ned and wonder if he is going to be

There were several topics we covered this semester but there were only a selected few that caught my attention. Those four things I learned this semester that caught my attention were: the productivity theory, the slowest worker theory, the assign and on duty approach, and the process of making a prosthetic body part. First, the productivity theory is where the output of a company is divided by the input to determine if the company will have a negative or possible percentage of productivity. For example, if a company has an output of 275000 and an input of 210000; the company will have a 1.19 percent of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After management completed assigning employees to a particular hour, they will have to determine how employees are on duty at those hours. There will be 4 employees on duty at 7 a.m., 8 employees on duty at 8 a.m., 12 employees on duty at 9 a.m., and 20 employees on duty at 10 a.m. This process is helpful to managers because they can determine what approach they should use to make sure they have the required number of employees for each hour. I was very intrigued with the assigned and on duty approach because it will be a strategy I will have to use in the future in my business operation. Finally, the process of making a prosthetic body part was a very insight learning objective. I learned there are two types of prosthetic: AK and BK. AK prosthetic is where a person loses their bottom part of their leg below the knee cap, and a BK prosthetic is where a person loses their entire leg. During our trip the Prosthetic Service, we had the privilege to meet a person who was an AK prosthetic and a person who was a BK prosthetic. The BK prosthetic was an individual who enjoyed hunting and fishing so he

Sometimes fungi produce large mushroom like structures, or sometimes they just appear as small wisps of hair. But with so many different forms and variations of fungi, sometimes they become hard to classify, and there is confusion as to whether it maybe a plant or bacteria. Buckholz et al (2016) state that the fungal kingdom deserves to be neither a prokaryote not a plant. Fungi are eukaryotic organisms that contain a membrane bound nucleus. They are also heterotrophic and consume their carbon. The main difference between animals and fungi is that fungi perform their digestion externally (Buckholz et al. 2016). Each fungus was placed onto the orange peel in the petri dish. We then sealed each of the petri dishes with parafilm, taped them together, and then placed them in an incubator at 25В°C. The samples remained in there for 1 week. After the week, we took them out of the incubator, and making sure not to open them, we observed the growth of each fungus. All of the petri dishes and samples were then disposed
  • 21. Given To Fly Eddie Vedder Meaning In 1991 when Eddie Vedder wrote and performed his album Ten, he knew he was competing with the big time grunge band; Nirvana. Once it hit the stage it was clear there was no competition. Eddie s deep, emotional messages throughout this album, his shaky, raspy voice that transfers from screaming lyrics to soft, poetic like speaking. All tied together with his hard to hate persona that can be heard throughout this album and every album made by Eddie Vedder. In the song Given To Fly Eddie says He got up out of there, ran for hundreds of miles / He made it to the ocean, had a smoke in a tree / The wind rose up, set him down on his knee. In this verse Eddie is describing his life and how he needs to get away from it all and just have a peaceful break, alone. Vedder likes to use his life in third person in most of his songs to make his message more distant, and almost more easily relatable. The song Given To Fly is actually a second or a reference to the song Going to California By Led Zeppelin and how just leaving might help out more than anything. Throughout the album there are several different songs with an abundance of different meanings. The song, Alive, has one of the deepest messages that is tied to his life personally. The song is about a boy that finds out that who he thought was his father, is actually his stepfather and his real father is dead. Eddie said the song is a work of fiction based on reality (SK) . When Vedder was born his mom had left his father and

Anybody who has dogs, knows people who have dogs, has ever seen a dog, or even is aware that dogs exist, knows that dogs like to bark. Some dogs naturally bark more than others, but I do believe I have three of the barkiest dogs on this planet. (Is barkiest even a word? If not, it is now, because that s what I have). My dogs like to bark whenever anybody comes into the house, whether they are family or not. They bark when company goes out the door. My dogs like to bark at neighbors walking down the sidewalk, and if those neighbors are walking their dogs, they bark even louder! My dogs like to bark at small critters in the yard, when the neighbor slams a car door shut, and when the washing machine back in my laundry room brakes after the spin cycle. In effect, they think they must bark all the time. All this barking dognoise becomes quite stressful. When my poor husband comes home from work, all the dogs come to greet him, and Twix (a beagle/sheltie cross) is the worst of all. Being part beagle, she is quite vocal by nature. She gets so excited whenever family comes home that she goes on a five minute barking spree. She was trained by her previous owner, my daughter in law, to respond to a quiet command but it s usually ineffective. She knows she s supposed to shut up, but she just can t control her excitement. The other two dogs also understand the word quiet but they don t listen either. Martha is an anxious dog by

Mold can quickly grow and spread from a tiny patch the size of a dime to a patch that is at least a square foot in a very short matter of time. Due to how quickly mold spreads and due to the fact that some mold is harmful, any moldthat shows up in your bathroom needs to be addressed quickly. Location Of The Mold The first thing you need to do is look at the location of the mold. She grew up in a home where politics was frequently discussed. Her family supported an end to slavery as part of the abolitionist movement. In her early years, she was a teacher and became involved in the temperance movement as well as the anti slavery movement. Because she was a woman, she was not allowed to voice her opinion. This became a motivator for her to become a woman s suffrage leader. A skilled, talented woman made a difference when she joined forces with Stanton. As mentioned earlier, Stanton and Anthony opposed the fourteenth and fifteen amendments for not liberating women. As Mayo states, she published The Revolution, a radical paper, edited by Stanton (1868 1870), and lectured for over six years to pay off its debt. • 29. Hardy Boys The Tower Treasure Summary I have read the Hardy Boys The Tower Treasure by Franklin W. Dixon. The Hardy Boys were delivering paper for their dad on their motorcycles. a blue car went flying by and then it went flying by again. They climbed the hill next to them and delivered the papers. They were going to Chets house to say hi, and they saw the blue car had crashed into a ditch there was no one in the car. They went down Chets driveway and saw that Chet was sad; the man had stolen Chets yellow car. Chet and the Hardy Boyswent around town asking if anyone say a yellow car go bye. Their friend Callie who had a cake in her hand said Chets yellow car was going so fast that it scared her and she dropped the cake. The Hardy Boys went to the police station to see if the Chief knew anything. Once they got there, they saw that their rival detective, Detective Smuff was there with a man that worked at a ticket both. They were reporting a man in Chets yellow car had attempted to rob the ticket booth. The next day the boys were on the case and they had called in a couple of their friends to help. They all split up to look for clues and at the end they would meet at the park. At the park they ate and took a nap once they woke up they looked in the last place it could have been in, in. they looked in the woods near the park where there was an old dump they split up and looked. They found footsteps in the mud that led to small path in the woods and they walked along the path. Chets car was at the end of the path. All of them piled in the car and drove along the highway calling out that they have found the car. They saw Smuff and Bragged but he didn t care there was a new case the tower has been robbed. The Hardy boys were on the hunt for clues. They went to the tower with their dad where Mr. Applegate accused Mr. Robinson of the robbery because he was the only one who has ever seen the safe open. That was the Hardy boys friends dad. They wanted to solve the mystery so Mr. Robinson could get a job and they could go to school with their friend. They suspected that the man who stole Chets car was the one who did it but they had no evidence. They gave their dad the wig, and he looked inside and saw a tag with a name on it. Researchers thought the woman had type O because that would make the most logical sense given that she is from Cameroon, but when they used group O specific primers, they didn t see any amplification. They were finally able to prove that this was a totally new strain of HIVwhen they performed a nonspecific RT PCR which was able to amplify and viral load. Because the PCR was non specific, meaning it had no primers specific to a type of HIV, the sequence was able to be amplified and then sequenced which gave rise to the RBF168 strain. 2.How is HIV transmitted? Why or why not? a.I have mixed feelings. Part of me feels as though yes, there is evidence that the new strain has a very low impact on the human population. This is because the new strain is very rare since it was detected in only one individual. HIV is a virus that evolves so quickly and there is probably a lot more rare strains that we don t even know about. In order for a strain to be prevalent, it needs to be found in a lot of people, like groups M, N, and O. And that simply is not the case with this new found strain. b.But then the other part of me believes that all the HIV tests we have today are geared only for the types of HIV we know to exist. The tests can t test for new strains, which makes me think that there are so many strains of HIV circulating around that we have no idea exist and they have potentially to spread. And although not dominant now, they have the potential to become dominant and prevalent if treatment for these new strains is not created, and therefore have they will have an impact on

The Importance Of International Terrorism The growing scope and complexity of international terrorism, particularly the threat to diplomats and diplomatic facilities, has caused widespread concern among members of the international community and prompted a lively debate on the measures appropriate for their protection. Consideration of this matter, however, has been greatly complicated not only by differing interpretations of the nature of terrorism but by the involvement of states themselves in terrorist activities. Once again, this problem is not new but since the 1960s, when terrorism emerged as a coherent doctrine of revolutionary warfare and a myriad groups sprang up around the world to capitalise on the increased vulnerability of modern society, the involvement of government s in terrorism has been given considerable attention. The debate over this matter has been heightened by the open admission of some states that they were prepared to sponsor terrorist groups as a means of extending their foreign policy options and by the Reagan Administration s insistence that terrorism has become a global issue with the potential to destroy diplomacy, undermine world stability and threaten civilisation itself .1 Despite the fact that the diplomatic laws have been in practice since the beginning of early civilizations, states have often acted in a manner contrary to VCDR principles and laws. There have been earlier incidents of the violation of inviolability of diplomatic privileges by the receiving state but most of them
  • 32. Essay on Art from Baroque Period Through the Postmodern Era Art from Baroque Period through the Postmodern Era Renaissance art history began as civic history; it was an expression of civic pride. The first such history was Filippo Villani s De origine civitatis Florentiae et eiusdem famosis civibus, written about 1381 82. Florentine artists revived an art that was almost dead, Villani asserts, just as Dante had restored poetry after its decline in the Middle Ages. The revival was begun by Cimabue and completed by Giotto, who equalled the ancient painters in fame and even surpassed them in skill and talent. After Giotto came his followers, Stefano, Taddeo Gaddi, and Maso, uomini illustri all, who, together with notable jurists, poets, musicians, theologians, physicians, orators, and others, made ... They belong to a genre or category in which are found some of the most characteristic texts of Renaissance humanism. Other of the books in this category are by such writers as Bruni, Salutati, and Manetti, books with which all students of the Renaissance are familiar. They treat broad moral and philosophical issues, but, as in the accounts of visual art, only insofar as they concern the city of Florence. And scholars reasonably have asked why there was such a preoccupation with Florence at this time. One of those who did so was Hans Baron and his answer has been at the center of discussions of this question since the 1950s. Baron linked the focus on Florence during the years around 1400 to a struggle over Florentine independence that began in 1390 with a declaration of war by Milan and ended only in 1454, when Milan accepted the independent status of the Florentine Republic. These events, he proposed, explain the direction taken by Florentine political speculation at this time, particularly the stress on republican ideals of liberty and civic involvement; they gave rise to a distinctive type of humanism, rooted in a new philosophy of political engagement and active life, and devoted to the celebration of Florence s republican liberties. Bruni was responding not to recent events in Florence, came the rejoinder, but
