Genetically Modified Foods Argument Essay
One of the main concerns of today s generation is health. Many people are concerned with staying
fit, which means working out and eating healthy. Currently, today s generation is at a crossroad
between what is considered healthy and the price of being healthy. The biggest concern revolves
around Genetically Modified Organisms or GMOs. GMOs are scientifically modified foods or
hormones used to increase foodproduction and reduce the number of pesticides and disease a
crop or organism may be susceptible to. So what is the big concern? Consumers are wary of
eating the unknown. Many are scared to eat GMOs due to an irrational fear of disease.
Consumers tend to overreact about Genetically Modified foods without truly understanding the
purpose of GMOs. GMOs make up the many of the foods we eat today. In fact, Barlett Steele
reports that about 90 percent of soybeans, the main ingredient in almost all the foods we eat, are
genetically modified (p.821). Genetically modified seeds are also present in the foods farm
animals eat. The main producer of genetically modified seeds, Monsanto, has made seeds that are
resistant to a pesticide from the brand name Roundup. Roundup Ready Seeds has made farming
easier for farmers. A farmer can... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In animals, GMOs can be found in cows in the form of artificial hormones. Dairy cows are often
injected with a genetically modified hormone to encourage milk production. This chemical, rBGH
is proven to not be harmful to humans but can be harmful in animals because it speeds up their
metabolism and increases the cows chance of early death (Barlett Steele). This raises many debates
about artificial hormones. While these hormones do not affect humans, cows are severely affected
and injecting them with these hormones can be considered animal abuse. Ultimately, this debate is
settled by the consumers. Dairy farmers label their milk and it is up to the consumer to decide if
they want to use the milk or

A Brave New World Essay
The ideology of quot;strong and stable quot; is high evident within the world that of which is
introduced to us in Brave New World. Aldous Huxley #39;s world was one of instability and a
decline in living standards as a result of the Stock Market Crash of 1929, which led to the total
economic collapse of the Great
Depression. As such, Huxley envisioned a world of prosperity and immense productivity through
placing the complete control of the world #39;s politics and economic system under the World
State, creating a consumerist culture fulfilled by the government #39;s state capitalism. However,

is also comes at the cost of progress, as the World Controllers believe that progress, although a
positive force for change, comes at the possibility of instability and civil unrest. This is shown
when the World State attempts to trial a four day work week on a remote
World State controlled island, which led to unfavourable results, as the workers, having more free

Realizing the true meaning of war Paul starts to go into depression, entering a state where is
unable to feel or care for anyone. In addition of the impact of death, Paul is constantly
questioning why they must fight and kill, showing care and affection even for his enemies. This
is shown after capturing Russian soldiers and keeping them as slaves Paul comes across as
seeing them as human, where Paul says, A word of command has made these silent figures our
enemies; a word of command might transform them into our friends (Remarque, 193). Showing
hostility for the Russian slaves that he feels can be friends. Questions to why they are enemies,
he sees that commanding the silent soldiers make them enemies but with no war they are
friends. With all these men having families and children he cannot kill take a father away from
their family. In an end result Paul has no reason to live and can t live in a world the constant
killing of innocent lives. This is seen when Paul sees no more healing to life, after meeting his
family on leave he cannot feel the same way for others. Unable to express his feelings or talk
about the experiences from war, Paul becomes ready to die, He had fallen forward and lay on the
earth as though sleeping. Turning him over one saw that he could not have suffered long; his face
had an expression of calm, as though almost glad the end had come (Remarque, 296). Entering a

A Vegetarian Vs. Vegan Essay
A vegetarian vs. vegan? What s the difference? Although the differences may be known by some,
many are foreign as to what distinguishes these two lifestyles. While vegetarians refrain from
consuming an animal s flesh, vegans choose to rid themselves of the consumption and use of
any animal derived products. With dietary limitations established, it is clear that these two differ
greatly, but what unites them is how the lifestyles came to be. As a vegan myself, I have
developed core arguments and values as to why I chose to adopt this way of life. Little did I
know that the very arguments I have made were developed by philosophers and major world
religions. The origin of these diets can be traced back to ancient Rome, China and India. Regardless
of its manifestation, there are others that have hindered its expansion. This paper serves to compare
how the Christianization of the roman empireand philosophers from Greece and Rome either
hindered or contributed to vegetarianisms development. Before we can begin to compare
Christianity with the Roman and Greek empire, it is important to discuss whether philosophical and
religious beliefs fostered vegetarianismor vice versa. The earliest record of vegetarianism was
discovered in the 7th century BC within the Indus Valley civilization. According to a translation
written by Patrick, these vegetarians chose this diet due to their belief in the tolerance of all living
beings.

Privatizing Urban Transportation Can Work With Timely...
The privatizing of urban transportation can work with timely public planning. A lot of the issues
to be considered are due to poor maintenance, slow expansion of streets, urban highways and
excessive congestion in many cities. Public and private partnerships can be used to improve the
timing of investments and ensure adequate maintenance of highways. Because of the lack of
funding and political red tape at both the local and federal levels, privatized funding can help
with the development of roadways, create jobs and complete the task at hand. Although
privatization terms and conditions of contracted developers of urban planning can create an
inflexed rate in the use of tolls for many road ways and highways it can reduce the congestion in
many cities. This paper will explore the how poor maintenance, slow expansion of streets and
urban highways and excessive congestion are chronic in many cities. The research will argue
claims that public private partnerships can be used to improve the timing of new investments,
ensure adequate maintenance of highways and streets and manage congestion with road user
charges. It will also elaborate on how this theory of public and private planning can only work with
timely public planning, deft contract design and enforcement and competent inter jurisdiction
coordination as well as show that Public/Private Partnerships (PPPs) do not relieve the public
budget of its financial obligation. The research will touch on how PPPs are preferred over

Juxtaposition In Cold Blood
In Cold Blood and the Death Penalty Is the killing of certain people morally acceptable? In his
novel, In Cold Blood, Capote makes an argument about the death penalty. In Cold Blood, written
by Truman Capote, is a seemingly objective account of the Clutter murders of Holcomb Kansas.
Capote details both the lives of the Clutters and the lives of the two men involved in their murder.
In this novel Capoteargues against the death penalty using devices such as simile, metaphor,
juxtaposition, and. In the first passage of the book, Capote writes about the incident and the
resulting deaths. He writes At the time not a soul in sleeping Holcomb heard them four shotgun
blasts that, all told, ended six human lives (Capote 5). This is an example of juxtaposition because
it shows the contrast of the sleeping town and the tragedy that was occurring at the same time.
Capote uses this juxtaposition, not only to detail the nature of the crime, but also to make a subtle
argument about the case. After finding out that the Clutters have been murdered, the community is
shocked and horrified. They cannot sleep at night because of the fear that the... Show more content

Leadership Style Of A Leader Essay
Each individual possesses a certain capacity for leadership. Whether is is learned or innate,
communication skills are a key factor in how a leader is perceived and followed. An individual s
leadership style is comprised of several factors within the workplace environment and the
individuals that comprise it.Some theories debate whether leadershipremains the same no matter the
circumstance, where others maintain that individuals might use others to gain leadership for noble
means. Regardless of the charisma or communication an individual uses in their leadership style,
each person should follow the example of Christ to become a respectable, caring, and honorable

What Is Normal
Do you think you are normal when you feel sad? Today, doctors will give people drugs to fix
their moods and label people with different fancy names like Depression and Hyperactivity
Disorder. People who are labeled with these kind of names might be considered as abnormal
because they have unusual characteristics from the majority. People also label the minority as
abnormal. Therefore, some people want to be fit into the category of normal. They start doing what
the majority does and they try to maintain their emotions in a certain level. They think they are

Today, social medias give tremendous impacts to everyone. What people usually see on the TV,
internet, or surrounding would influence their concepts of normality. For example, a person
who is still using an old fashioned cell phone might be considered as abnormal, because the
majority of people is using the latest smartphones. It is important for people to know they are
normal or not, because most of the people are feeling happy that they are normal. However, the
definition of being normal has indirectly manipulated by the majority. As long as people follow
what the majority does, they are parts of the majority and will not be abnormal at all. However,
that is not the meaning of normal but merely a part of the definition of norms, following what
most of the people do. If the normality is determined by the majority, same sex marriage will
never be accepted by the society. This is a very good evidence that shows what is normal is not
determined by the majority. In What Do We Mean by Normal ? , Maisel also tells us that normal
is not what people perceive all the time or what people perceive the most of. He clearly states that
normal means anything of value to right thinking people (Maisel 1). In other words, what is normal
is not depending on what the majority does. People should not blindly define normal as what the
majority thinks or acts, because normal is not determined by the majority. It is determined by
people who have the right

ACE Inhibitor Personal Statement
Replace fear of the unknown with curiosity. These words have been the driving force behind who I
am today. Whether it is ordering a new dish at a restaurant, trying on a new outfit, choosing my

The King s Character in a Cinematic Production of...
Although labeled as a history, the strength of Shakespeare s Henry V lies not in the events that
occur in the play, but in the delicate portrayal of the characters involved. Shakespeare s audience
would have already known the story of Henry V s campaign on France and thus would have had
no reason to watch a play that simply re enacted past events. Therefore, the appeal of such a play, as
well as the themes and the content, would have been dependent largely on the characters themselves.
It is obvious that the most prominent character is the man whose name the play carries Henry V.
The entire story centers on his deeds. He serves as the catalyst for the action, the driving force
behind all that takes place. Without him there is no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The subtleties of such ambiguities make any direction a complex task as one tries to reconcile
conflicting viewpoints. In doing so, there are two widely respected cinematic versions of Henry V
that may be considered: Laurence Olivier s 1944 production and Kenneth Branagh s 1989 version.
Olivier s version is pure patriotism, while Branagh s is grittier and much darker. Olivier s is
more stylized and innocent, giving it a more chivalric and fairy tale atmosphere. Branagh s, on
the other hand, is more realistic in its portrayal of Henry s invasion of France. However, as Shaw
points out, in each case the king emerges as the hero through cinematic and textual editing
decisions. The most glaring omission common to both is Henry s order to kill the French prisoners
taken at the Battle of Agincourt. This scene is omitted because it is one of those textual
ambiguities that may leave an audience of the original play uncertain as to the quality of man that
the Henry is. This would have been in opposition to both Branagh and Olivier s heroic depictions.
This would not, however, be the route chosen for this production. Henry V, as Norman Rabkin
describes it in Shakespeare and the Problem of Meaning, is a work whose ultimate power is
precisely the fact that it points in two opposite directions, virtually daring us to choose

Misinterpretations Of Love In Twelfth Night By William...
Twelfth Night Behind the Mask
Love can not hide behind a mask forever in the end truth will prevail. In the play Twelfth Night
written by William Shakespeare there are many circumstances where there are misinterpretations of
love in various romantic relationships. There are many instances where characters where used
disguises were used to create plot development. In Shakespeare play trickery was used to create
plot development. Mistaken identity was used to create a complicated love triangle. Shakespeare
makes use of different binding elements to cause conflict between his characters to gain conflict

Shakespeare uses the act of disguise to create plot development in Twelfth Night.
In Twelfth Night, mistaken identity was used several times to create plot development. Olivia
calls a priest to marry Sebastian (He is Viola brother who was thought to be dead in a ship
wrecked and returns later to meet Olivia), but she thinks is Cesario and this is important to the
plot because that is when the truth starts coming out. Olivia says, O welcome father! / Father, I
charge thee by thy reverence / Here to unfold though lately we intended / To keep in darkness
what occasion now / Reveals before tis ripe what thou dost know / Hath newly pass d between
this youth and me (Shakespeare 5.1.146 150). Here, Olivia asks the priest to affirm her marriage
person she believes she married. She has married Sebastian but however supposes she marry
Cesario . This is important to the plot because this when Olivia gets married to Sebastian and
Olivia thinks she has found her true love Cesario and creates room for the mystery in the play to
be answered. In addition to that, Viola says that she can not love Olivia because of she is not she
think he is. Viola says, By innocence I swear, and by my youth, / I have one heart, one bosom,
and one truth, / And that no woman has; nor never none / Shall mistress be of it, save I alone
(Shakespeare 3.1.153 156). Cesario(Viola) statement to Olivia

Greed And Obitivity
In a society with too much greed and possessions can lead the world that is inhumane. People are
never satisfied with what they currently have, they always desire for more or better than this or
that person. Throughout history and literature, greed is a classic topic in human development
that naturally affects many of our decisions. Of Course, people would agree that increase of
possessions is a way to motivate us in order to reach a certain height of success. Greed doesn t
mean you have a sin, it s just how the world works. There is an old saying, If you want
something, work for it. Greed doesn t mean selfish, people just want to work toward their goals
and increase their status in a cruel society that is full of judgemental people. Without greediness
in our life, it would be like plain bread, without the peanut butter or the jam. One particular
person in history that is well known for his ambitious action and power hungry was Hitler. Hitler
used many of his tactics for people to vote for him motivational speech and make Germany
better, this way people can follow Hitler. Once Hitler had abundance followers, he wanted to
dictate people live and used violence against people who disobeyed his orders. Since Hitler was a
very ambitious person, he wanted to rule all of Germany and Europe and to make Germany better ,

Recently Christians of all denominations are getting a reputation of being hateful and hypocritical.
I identify with non denominational Christianity, my beliefs fall most closely with Evangelical

I am a naturally pessimistic person, I look at the state of the world with contempt, being able to
see good through all the hate has been imperative for me to continue pushing through my life. I
need someone or something to guide me and teach me right from wrong. If I was not raised
Christian I would have turned to drugs or self harm, which were both extremely prevalent in my
school system. There were people who I knew that would go out at night to vandalize property or
break the law for the thrill, all while wearing a neckless with a cross on it. If I had not been
educated properly, I would have grown up despising Christians for their hypocritical nature. The
foundations for what I believe are inherited from my parents who are both Christian and brought me
to church every day. I do think that my religion is my personal choice though. My parents have
always said that they would support me no matter what I do in life, even if I were to lose faith in
God. I was never pressured to be Christian, but I found truth to the teachings of the church, it was

The Expeditions Of The Expedition
The names Lewis and Clark have almost always been associated with excellence and adventure.
Their expedition westward in search of a water passageway across the country has become etched
into the annals of history as one of the earliest and greatest examples of American nationalism and
survives not only as a compelling story, but also as a piece of living, breathing history. However,
upon examining the expedition, several prudent questions arise: Could the expedition truly have
known what awaited them out west? Was meeting the now legendary figure Sacagawea someone
the group intended to find? And maybe most importantly, concerning the preparation efforts taken
by the expedition s generals, most notably Meriwether Lewis, did the group... Show more content

Within this territory held a lot of unknown information, but what was known came from writings
and works of England s Captain James Cook and prior expeditions to explore the territory funded
by the American Philosophical Society. Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States
and the biological father, so to speak, of the Lewis and Clark expedition, had been well interested in
finding the shortest most convenient route of communication between the U.S. the Pacific ocean.
One notable example of this was with a French botanist by the name of AndrГ© Michaux, who in
the year 1793, embarked on an expedition to search for an all water route access across the
continent. Michaux was selected by the then Vice President Jefferson because the Frenchman was
a trained scientist in botany, astronomy, mineralogy, and ethnology. Jefferson s goals for this
expedition was purely geographically based, but also for the sake of knowledge, signifying how
curious many Americans were of the then unknown territory. Unfortunately, the expedition didn t
end the way Jefferson imagined it would, as Jefferson discovered Michaux to be a secret agent of
the French Republic who was then recalled on Jefferson s behalf. Over the following years,
Jefferson let the idea sit in the dust, mainly due to political duties, and the mention of an American
led expedition across the continent wouldn t be mentioned until the early 1800s. Before the Lewis

There is, of course, walking. A great source of exercise but typically only used to get from your

work. Riding a bicycle is a way to get around the parking conundrum since you can park your
bike just about anywhere. Last but not least, the bus is a source of transportation that many
people do not look at as they see it as time consuming and inconvenient. You must look at the
parking options that are available on and off campus when trying to decide where or how to

The Founding Of The Baha I Faith

tribulations to set the standards for future supporters. The beliefs, worships, and traditions amplify
the organization and ground rules of the Baha i faith. This faith openly expresses its fondness of
equality to any gender, race, or ethnicity with minor differences. Baha i religion is perhaps one of
the most compassionate and nondiscriminatory religions known to society. In similar fashion, the

The Walt Disney Company Using Second Life As A Public...
Virtual communities such as Second Life have revolutionized communication channels for public
relations professionals. The virtual communication platform uses the integration of social and
digital media to communicate with target audiences. The internet based simulated environment
permits users to not only interact with each other, but with products and services provided by
organizations and individuals. Thus, Second Lifehas become an interactive, collaborative and
commercial communication channel to connect to and influence global audience behavior (Barnes

Already internationally recognized, the Walt DisneyCompany was an early participant of Second

During flu season, public schools are a breeding ground for these types of viruses and bacteria,
causing many students to become sick. Although parents want to protect their children from
these issues, the effects of the alternative home schooling can be just as dramatic. Home
schooling children temporarily protects them from negative things such as teasing, social
struggles, and bacteria. However, there are negative effects of this protection, such as a lack of
social skills in home schooled children. Home schooled children do not interact with as many
people as they would if they were in public school. Oftentimes, home schooled children are not
forced to encounter children that are mean to them, nor are they forced to interact and converse
with strangers on a regular basis. This can result in poor social skills. Joe Fontane, a former
home schooled student, had this to say when it comes to the social aspect of home schooling.
When I was 13, my parents switched me into high school after being home schooled for my
whole life. It was a hard time in my life, because I was not used to being around so many kids,
which led to a lot of anxiety. I have a lot of home schooled friends that never made the switch, and
they are just not socially fluent. Patrick Basham, in his book about the effects of home schooling,
claimed that home schooled children are able to socialize in small group activities. There are many

Introduction
For a long time researchers have been trying to study behavior and offer solutions to some of the
behavior problems. Yeager et al. (2013) carried out a study to determine how criticism can be

NETW360 Week 1 iLab: Basic RF Calculations
The power emitted from wireless devices, especially in unlicensed bands, such as 2.4 GHz and 5
GHz, are regulated by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Wireless network
professionals must calculate power levels (or RF signal strength) that are being transmitted by
wireless devices to make sure their designs are complaint with FCC regulations. They also need to
calculate power levels that are being received by wireless devices to make sure the signal is
properly received at the destination.
RF power can be measured in two ways: on the linear scale, by the number of watts that are being
transmitted; and on a relative scale, by the number of decibels (dBs) instead of watts.

The same idea can be applied to conversions from dBm to mW when a dBm value is not readily
available in the 3 s and 10 s rules table.
For instance, what is 13 dBm in mW?
First, 13 dBm = 0 dBm + 10 dBm + 3 dBm, where 0 dBm, 10 dBm, and 3 dBm are in the table.
Next, let s apply the following 3 s and 10 s rules:
В·0 dBm = 1 mW
В·When the dBm value increases by adding 10, the mW value increases by the factor of 10.
В·When the dBm value increases by adding 3, the mW value increases by the factor of 2.
Finally, we have 13 dBm = 0 dBm + 10 dBm + 3 dBm = 1 mW Г— 10 Г— 2 = 20 mW.
В·Applying the 3 s and 10 s rules, what s 7 dBm in mW (must show steps)?
Answer: 7dBm=10dBm 3dBm=10mW/2mW =5mW

Theme Of Timshel By John Steinbeck
It is difficult to decipher the good and the evil that lives within people. John Steinbeck provokes
both virtues in the East of Eden, taking place in Salinas Valley, California in the 1900 s. The theme
that is subtly circling all over the book is the meaning of the word timshel which revolves around
the characters Cathy, Adam, and Caleb.
To begin with, a central theme in the story is the Hebrew word timshel. There are several
philosophical analyses involving this word throughout the book. Steinbeck brought it up through
the character Lee as he explained that the American Standard translation orders men to triumph over
sin...The King James translation makes a promise in thou shalt, meaning that men will surely
triumph over sin. But the Hebrew word, the word timshel Thou mayest that gives a choice (303).
This quote means that man can freely choose to be kind or evil which continuously connects both
Adam Trask and Caleb Trask throughout the book.
An example in the book is when Adam was dealing with his depression. Unfortunately, Adam had
not embraced the responsibility and role of fatherhood, resulting in disregarding his sons entirely,
much like his own father had. That vile feeling in Adam left him with the mindset that he would
never better. When he finally brought his mind back on track and started caring more about his
son s interests, it showed in the character s development as he let go of his father s ways and
became his own man.
Continuing the theme

We gathered our information from various interviews from existing owners of football fields, as
well as the many potential players in the area. Our findings indicated that a demand for such a
service exists and that the potential players in the vicinity indeed demand for a real, proper, high
quality field, and an appealing price.
We initially had 3 locations planned in our mind to choose for our pitch: Muscat, Batinah, and AL
Sharqyiah. Muscat has an abundance of football fields and there was little demand from the
players to play in addition to the huge traffic in it. Al Sharqyiah, on the other hand, very little
demand in the region plus very high costs into creating the pitch. However, in Al Suwayq we found
out that demand for this service indeed exists and the market was well prepared.
We interviewed the competitors in the market and they told us that there is so much demand that
reservations need to be made at least 2 days prior the day that they play. Our target market is the
male youth in Al Suwayq. The total population is around 94,000 where 46,000 of them are male.
The strongest competitor, Al Nibras Field, is a big field, in a nice location, with good grass
quality. They were in this business for 3 years, so they have a well established fan base. Thus, it is

Prime Minister Corruption
Prime Ministers receive significant responsibility once they are elected into power and whilst
managing that intense pressure is where corruption takes place. The concept of one person having
all the power has been in the world for decades now and yet, the outcome is always the same:
degrading integrity and crookedness. In some of the most severe examples, there has even been
death involved. Although, Canada s Parliamenthas not reached that point of harshness and might
never, corruption has taken place within our governmentand as a result of this, public policyhas
suffered. As the polls on election night come to a close, the title of Prime Minister is granted to one
person who receives the opportunity to run their country. The notion of giving one individual such
intense power has created a downfall within our society and therefore causing damage in areas of
public policy that one person cannot be fully knowledgeable in thus leading to corruption. When a
Prime Minsters enters office, they become the face of our entire nation, including people who voted
for them and even those against them. Therefore, their decisions and actions should benefit
everyone, but it does not always work that way. When an individual has the chance to grasp the
severity of their power, the outcome tends to decrease their integrity and honesty. This statement
applies to our Prime Ministers. Citizens and passionate supporters contribute to this severe power

Hewlett Packard is the case study of this work, procurement being a broad topic, we will
concentrate on three main areas for the purpose of these work. Brief understanding of them;
GLOBAL SOURCING:
Global sourcing can be simply defined as coordinating and integrating of procurement
requirement across worldwide business units. Mostly practised by large organisations because
they are the ones that have the need, leverages and facilities around the globe to enable them
apply the process to gain competitiveness from global sourcing. They are usually in a contract
with other large corporations who have the ability to supply the products to their sites located
globally. Many organisations are meeting the need for lower cost by moving to foreign countries
where there are less regulations that interferes with the manufacturing process, where they can find
cheaper labour and thereby lower the cost of basic plant, personnel cost and also operational cost.
Sourcing and outsourcing which have developed over time are the two basic methods of foreign
manufacturing and it helps in making the best choice for global supply chains. Some basic things
need to be considered before outsourcing, sometimes companies outsource when it does not make

Descriptive Essay On Computer Store
It s 8:59 A.M. on a Saturday, and I am waiting with my dad in his car. It is the only car in the strip
mall parking lot. I am antsy to get my repaired computer back to play games. A small silver car
pulls in next to us and out walks a college aged guy that smells of a stale smoke. My dad hands
me some cash and I walk into the store behind the young guy as he turns on the lights of the
computerstore.
You come to pick up a computer? the young smoker asks me while he boots up the store s main
computer. He is polite and asks me questions about some of my hobbies; I tell him my
fascination with electronics and how I ve been wanting to build my own computer. I glance
around the store and stare at the variety of computers, devices, and printers within the store. The
printers are piled on top of each other blanketed in a layer of dust. Parts are overflowing from the
shelves, making a thin walkable path throughout the store. Vast amounts of various computer
components are scattered on tables, and there is a stack of desktop computers piled to the
ceiling. This store is a messy computer museum! It s an unorganized chaos, but I am mesmerized.
As I am waiting for the man to print my bill, a middle aged man enters the store and heads
straight to a private cubicle with privacy provided by a sheet of plywood. He is immediately on
the phone with an agitated voice with what must be a customer, creating a sense of discomfort.

also many other inexpensive food and beverage businesses within walking distance of Westlake,

Pizza is purchased from a food supplier and drives up gross profit margin by 65%, beer is driven

Islamic Regime Analysis
Because of the oppressiveness of the Islamic Government, the Regime not only wanted to control its
citizens in public, but also in private. Marjane Satrapi faces this oppressive controlling nature of the
regime throughout the novel, along with everyone else in Iran at the time. To control its citizens at
all times, the Regime regulates clothing, takes controlof private space, and enforces these rules with
strict punishments. Punishments can include losing limbs, extreme torture, or even death. (Satrapi
109/2) The only way to avoid these punishments if you were caught, was to pay off the officers
(110/7), however, this did not work every time. Because of the oppressive rules, strict punishments,
and control of private space, there was a huge... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Regime tried to control both public and private space for its citizens, by banning certain
products, banning parties, regulating clothing, and not allowing PDA. All products that resembled
western were banned and they enforced almost all rules with torture, death, and fines. The regime
also had to control its citizens, and it did this by rounding up all of the people who were publically
opposed to the Regime, and executed them all completely. The governmentwas based on scaring the
people, oppressive laws, and torture like enforcement; this is what really pushed its citizens away.
However, the enforcement of rules for the public and private space of citizens was the real catalyst
for demonstrations, the divide between the Regime and its citizens, and the revolution all together.
Without the enforcement and establishment of these rules, the Iranian people would not have
experienced the depressing environment of the Regime. Satrapi compares the peacefulness and
freedom of other countries to Iran, to showcase her perception of the horrible living conditions in
her home

Understanding White Collar Crime
In the United States, there are many different types of crimes that are committed. One type of
crime that is considered non violent would be white collar crime. Under white collared crimes
there are hundreds of different types of crimes that would fall under this category. Sociologist and
criminologists have come up with many different theories to what white collar crime is and what
type of people commit these crimes. In the next few paragraphs I will explain what white collar
crime is and my opinion on how white collar crime should be dealt with.
According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation s (FBI), white collar crime can be ... Show more

He also said that white collar criminals had more of a negative impact on U.S. society than street
criminals (Schmalleger).
In the recent years, with more state and federal laws against these white collar crimes, it has
become more difficult to get away with such crimes. There are more agencies out there today that
help prevent and help catch these white collar criminals before they hurt many individuals and
investors. Agencies like the FBI, the National Check Fraud Center and the National White Collar
Crime Center which teaches small to large businesses how to prevent and know how to spot a
white collar crime within their company. Even though there are many protections out there today, it
is still a hard crime to prevent. Most local law enforcement officers don t see these types of white
collar crimes happen due to the criminals committing the crimes are in a private setting when
committing these types of crimes (Schmalleger). Usually, the individuals committing white collar
crimes are trusted employees within a business and the crime isn t caught till after the offense has
been made.
In conclusion, white collar crime has become more of a common thing within businesses today
than ever before. Or, it may becoming more noticeable as more prevention is put into place to
catch these white collar crimes. I do believe most of the white collar crime committed is due to
greed. I also

Wieel Wiesel Reflection
In chapter one, page fifteen, I was intrigued by the quote, I looked at my house in which I had
spent years seeking my God, fasting to hasten the coming of the Messiah, imagining what my life
would be like later. Yet I felt little sadness. My mind was empty. (Wiesel 15) This passage really
caught my attention because, in the quote it shows how affected they really were. in this quote he
s saying that, as hard as he tried to have faith in his god and pursue to the future of freedom, it gets
harder and harder to have the faith when you have nothing left. I really thought this quote was
interesting because it gives perspective on how affective this event was for the Jewish, they not
only were leaving everything they had behind, but some of the faith and religion they carried with
them.
Page ten, chapter 1, I chose the passage, The race to death had begun. (Wiesel 10) as an important
style of writing. This quote is personifying how quickly death reached some of the Jews from
Sighet. I think this use of personification, which is the style figure of speech, is a big factor to the
text because, it enhances the amount of emotion it makes you feel while reading. In this passage,
the use of personification is a major element because it is making us feel the emotion of fear that
they all have.
While reading Chapter 1, I was challenged by the word penury, He was poor and lived in utter
penury. (Wiesel 1) In this sentence penury directly means poverty, after learning this

Business And Financial Performance Essay
I have always considered obtaining BSc. Honors degree in applied accounting from Oxford
Brookes University as an important milestone of my academic career. In this session I decided to
prepare research and analysis project and I chose the following topic: The business and financial
performance of an organization over a three year Period .
Reasons of choosing Specific Topic, Sector And Company: One of the most imperative reasons
that I chose this topic was that this topic was easier to understand. During my ACCA studies I read
different tools and techniques relating to the business and financial analysis so I was in a better
position to work on this area of topic. Another reason for selecting this topic was that I want to

Analyze the business performance of the company with help of SWOT analysis. (FTC, 2008)
Identify the impact of environmental factors on the performance of the company with the help of
PEST analysis. (Alan Chapman, n.d.)
On the basis of these tools and techniques, I will conclude the business and financial performance of
the company.
Research Questions:
What are the necessary skills i.e. analytical, technological required for preparation of this project?
How much time should be assigned to each part?
How will I gather the data related to the company which is reliable?
What are the internal strengths, weaknesses and external opportunities and threats faced by the
company?
What is the impact of political, economic, social and technological factors on the performance of
the company?
How will I reach out a conclusion with the help of these tools and techniques? (Shane Johnson,
2005)
Overall Approach for the preparation of research and analysis project I planned my research
according to the limited amount of time available to me. I selected accounting and business
models which appeared appropriate for the analysis. I also acknowledged different sources of
information that would be required and that they should also be accessible. These sources were

As organizations grow and expand globally, the growing number of business competitors who

Confusion in War
The war in Vietnam is without a doubt an outlier in comparison to every other U.S. war,
specifically as the only war that the U.S. has ever lost. Losing the war may have been a direct
result of a draft that placed young men in Vietnam, many of whom had absolutely no personal
goals other than survival. This sets the scene for Going After Cacciato and its main character Paul
Berlin. The book is told in the form of three stories. Sixteen chapters are a narrative of the real war,
focusing on the deaths of the men in Berlin s squadron, another ten chapters depict a single full
night when Berlin decides to take the whole watch rather than wake up one of his companions, and
the other twenty chapters center on the squad s imaginative journey to... Show more content on

The reality of the elaborate story Paul Berlin writes in his mind, is that he is deserting. First Berlin
imagines him and his squad physically leaving Vietnam. Berlin envisions them walking to Laos,
through Mandalay, Delhi, and Tehran, all the way to France. They meet a vast array of people
from all over the world. It becomes clear that Berlin does not just dream about leaving, to him the
story is a very active idea (Farrell 56). Yet despite his constant attempts to rationalize this decision
throughout the Cacciato narrative, Berlin is aware that the world considers what he is doing to be
wrong. Berlin s consciousness of the reality of his desertion is eventually manifested in the
execution that he and his comrades nearly endure in Tehran. The war has generated such confusion
in Berlin that he cannot even imagine a plausible, orderly exit from war (Farrell 61). Even in his
imagination, Berlin is confused as to whether he is wrong to desert the war.
More importantly, by imagining a fantastic escape of Vietnam in pursuit of Cacciato, Berlin can
actually temporarily elude the war. Pretending, Berlin explains was his best trick to forget the
war (O Brien). He is totally unable to cope with the realities of Vietnam and as a result hides
behind his imagination hoping to one day wake up at the end of his tour (Freeman 190). Berlin
pretends in many areas of his life at war: he pretends that the M Ms Doc Peret dispenses on the

Currently, today s generation is at a crossroad between what is considered healthy and the price of being healthy. The biggest concern revolves around Genetically Modified Organisms or GMOs. GMOs are scientifically modified foods or hormones used to increase foodproduction and reduce the number of pesticides and disease a crop or organism may be susceptible to. So what is the big concern? Consumers are wary of eating the unknown. Many are scared to eat GMOs due to an irrational fear of disease. Consumers tend to overreact about Genetically Modified foods without truly understanding the purpose of GMOs. GMOs make up the many of the foods we eat today. In fact, Barlett Steele reports that about 90 percent of soybeans, the main ingredient in almost all the foods we eat, are genetically modified (p.821). This raises many debates about artificial hormones. While these hormones do not affect humans, cows are severely affected and injecting them with these hormones can be considered animal abuse. Ultimately, this debate is settled by the consumers. Dairy farmers label their milk and it is up to the consumer to decide if they want to use the milk or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While vegetarians refrain from consuming an animal s flesh, vegans choose to rid themselves of the consumption and use of any animal derived products. With dietary limitations established, it is clear that these two differ greatly, but what unites them is how the lifestyles came to be. As a vegan myself, I have developed core arguments and values as to why I chose to adopt this way of life. Little did I know that the very arguments I have made were developed by philosophers and major world religions. The origin of these diets can be traced back to ancient Rome, China and India. Regardless of its manifestation, there are others that have hindered its expansion. This paper serves to compare how the Christianization of the roman empireand philosophers from Greece and Rome either hindered or contributed to vegetarianisms development. In doing so, there are two widely respected cinematic versions of Henry V that may be considered: Laurence Olivier s 1944 production and Kenneth Branagh s 1989 version. Olivier s version is pure patriotism, while Branagh s is grittier and much darker. Olivier s is more stylized and innocent, giving it a more chivalric and fairy tale atmosphere. Branagh s, on the other hand, is more realistic in its portrayal of Henry s invasion of France. However, as Shaw points out, in each case the king emerges as the hero through cinematic and textual editing decisions. The most glaring omission common to both is Henry s order to kill the French prisoners taken at the Battle of Agincourt. This scene is omitted because it is one of those textual ambiguities that may leave an audience of the original play uncertain as to the quality of man that the Henry is. This would have been in opposition to both Branagh and Olivier s heroic depictions. This would not, however, be the route chosen for this production. Henry V, as Norman Rabkin describes it in Shakespeare and the Problem of Meaning, is a work whose ultimate power is precisely the fact that it points in two opposite directions, virtually daring us to choose ... • 31. Theme Of Timshel By John Steinbeck It is difficult to decipher the good and the evil that lives within people. John Steinbeck provokes both virtues in the East of Eden, taking place in Salinas Valley, California in the 1900 s. The theme that is subtly circling all over the book is the meaning of the word timshel which revolves around the characters Cathy, Adam, and Caleb. To begin with, a central theme in the story is the Hebrew word timshel. There are several philosophical analyses involving this word throughout the book. Steinbeck brought it up through the character Lee as he explained that the American Standard translation orders men to triumph over sin...The King James translation makes a promise in thou shalt, meaning that men will surely triumph over sin. But the Hebrew word, the word timshel Thou mayest that gives a choice (303). This quote means that man can freely choose to be kind or evil which continuously connects both Adam Trask and Caleb Trask throughout the book. An example in the book is when Adam was dealing with his depression. Unfortunately, Adam had not embraced the responsibility and role of fatherhood, resulting in disregarding his sons entirely, much like his own father had. That vile feeling in Adam left him with the mindset that he would never better. (Satrapi 109/2) The only way to avoid these punishments if you were caught, was to pay off the officers (110/7), however, this did not work every time. Because of the oppressive rules, strict punishments, and control of private space, there was a huge... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All products that resembled western were banned and they enforced almost all rules with torture, death, and fines. The regime also had to control its citizens, and it did this by rounding up all of the people who were publically opposed to the Regime, and executed them all completely. The governmentwas based on scaring the people, oppressive laws, and torture like enforcement; this is what really pushed its citizens away. However, the enforcement of rules for the public and private space of citizens was the real catalyst for demonstrations, the divide between the Regime and its citizens, and the revolution all together. Wieel Wiesel Reflection In chapter one, page fifteen, I was intrigued by the quote, I looked at my house in which I had spent years seeking my God, fasting to hasten the coming of the Messiah, imagining what my life would be like later. Yet I felt little sadness. My mind was empty. (Wiesel 15) This passage really caught my attention because, in the quote it shows how affected they really were. in this quote he s saying that, as hard as he tried to have faith in his god and pursue to the future of freedom, it gets harder and harder to have the faith when you have nothing left. I really thought this quote was interesting because it gives perspective on how affective this event was for the Jewish, they not only were leaving everything they had behind, but some of the faith and religion they carried with them. Page ten, chapter 1, I chose the passage, The race to death had begun. (Wiesel 10) as an important style of writing. This quote is personifying how quickly death reached some of the Jews from Sighet. I think this use of personification, which is the style figure of speech, is a big factor to the text because, it enhances the amount of emotion it makes you feel while reading. In this passage, the use of personification is a major element because it is making us feel the emotion of fear that they all have. While reading Chapter 1, I was challenged by the word penury, He was poor and lived in utter penury. (Wiesel 1) In this sentence penury directly means poverty, after learning this ... • 45. Confusion in War The war in Vietnam is without a doubt an outlier in comparison to every other U.S. war, specifically as the only war that the U.S. has ever lost. Losing the war may have been a direct result of a draft that placed young men in Vietnam, many of whom had absolutely no personal goals other than survival. This sets the scene for Going After Cacciato and its main character Paul Berlin. The book is told in the form of three stories. Sixteen chapters are a narrative of the real war, focusing on the deaths of the men in Berlin s squadron, another ten chapters depict a single full night when Berlin decides to take the whole watch rather than wake up one of his companions, and the other twenty chapters center on the squad s imaginative journey to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reality of the elaborate story Paul Berlin writes in his mind, is that he is deserting. First Berlin imagines him and his squad physically leaving Vietnam. Berlin envisions them walking to Laos, through Mandalay, Delhi, and Tehran, all the way to France. They meet a vast array of people from all over the world. It becomes clear that Berlin does not just dream about leaving, to him the story is a very active idea (Farrell 56). Yet despite his constant attempts to rationalize this decision throughout the Cacciato narrative, Berlin is aware that the world considers what he is doing to be wrong. Berlin s consciousness of the reality of his desertion is eventually manifested in the execution that he and his comrades nearly endure in Tehran. The war has generated such confusion in Berlin that he cannot even imagine a plausible, orderly exit from war (Farrell 61). Even in his imagination, Berlin is confused as to whether he is wrong to desert the war. More importantly, by imagining a fantastic escape of Vietnam in pursuit of Cacciato, Berlin can actually temporarily elude the war. Pretending, Berlin explains was his best trick to forget the war (O Brien). He is totally unable to cope with the realities of Vietnam and as a result hides behind his imagination hoping to one day wake up at the end of his tour (Freeman 190). Berlin pretends in many areas of his life at war: he pretends that the M Ms Doc Peret dispenses on the battlefield ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
