Accountability in the Army Essay
The US Army values soldiers that are accountable for their actions. Being accountable means being
dependable; arriving to work and appointments on time, meeting deadlines, being in the right place at
the right time and doing the right thing at the right time. Morning formation is the most imprtant
formation of the day. It is made to get accountability of everyone and to put out any information that
needs to be addressed. Without having accountability there is no way of knowing where soldiers are or
whats going on. Not only does accountability matter in formation, but it is also imperative to have
accountability if all of your weapons and sensitive items. What is accountability? Accountability is the
obligation imposed by law or lawful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It does not look well on them if they can not complete this task. This actually shows thats the soldier
can t be depended on when they are needed. This also hurts them when they are being looked at for
promotions or any favorable actions. As a soldier you want to always make a great impression on your
leaders, and not being able to make it on time is not acceptable to them. It would make things run alot
smootherif everyone was on time all of the time. If no one was at the right place at the right time, it
would set what ever mission you have back. It also makes a negative impact on your leadership.
However, I also feel that as leaders, they should also realize that things may happen with the soldiers.
Whether its being late to formation, missing an appointment due to some circumstance, as long as the
soldier doesn t make it a habbit then forgiveness should be granted on that instance. Also you want to
use this duty in your personal life. It shows people that youre very dependable. This is not only a
quality we use as soldiers, but as civilans as well. Being late is not only unacceptable in the army, but
it is unacceptable anywhere. This should be the easiest task of being a soldier. The army has several
ways to correct this issue if it is a continuous problem. You can recieve a negative counseling

Anolis Lizards Essay
Ecological Speciation in Anolis Lizards
Adaptive radiation of different organisms have occurred throughout geological time through the filling
of ecological niches. Organisms different from one another are capable of radiating greatly, as they
evolve traits that allow them to thrive better in their environment. The Anolis lizards of the Caribbean
islands are a great example of a single genus to have radiated not once, but multiple times through
very similar mechanisms. Different populations of the Anolis phenotypically vary in their
morphological traits to facilitate adaptation to particular niches. These phenotypic variations have
evolved in convergence in more than one occasion, as recently discovered fossil specimens show
similar patterns in morphology to modern Anolis.
Anolis as a Model Organism. Anolis is a primary example used in evolutionary studies in
diversification. Nicholson et al. (2005) show that their existence on the islands has resulted from
single colonization events (p. 935). After a population settles on an island, the lizards begin to
specialize in habitats and fill unoccupied niches. Subpopulations that correspond to each niche ...

As seen with Anolis, single species of organisms have the ability to undergo adaptive radiation and
become new species by filling niches in a given environment. This is prevalent not only in Anolis, but
other model organisms as well, such as finches, sticklebacks, and cichlids. All of these organisms have
gone through the similar mechanisms and processes to evolve into different species. Alike to Anolis,
they have gone through reproductive isolation, adaptation, and convergent evolution. Due to a poor
fossil record of Anolis, the other model organisms may give better outlook on how they have diverged
overtime. Further investigations on all of these organisms and their evolutionary mechanisms would
not only give better a better idea of ecological speciation, but more comprehension on the origin of all

Hello Pickles Last Letter
Hey, what s up, hello Pickles,
I m so glad that I finally got your letter back! I actually had to miss the day that the rest of the class
received their letters and I was completely and utterly devastated! I asked Ms. Suber if I could have
my letter a day early I was denied this privilege and had to wait until the following week.
But back to the actual reason that we write to each other, I did in fact enjoy your pun at the bottom of
your letter. I thought it was clever nevertheless. It actually reminds of a vine that my sister showed me.
It s called look at these buns it s by Leo Vader. It s hilarious and it has a great pun. It s a perfect
mixture of comedy and education!

Vietnam s History and the Twentieth Century
It is both necessary and helpful to study the context of prior history because it reveals who we are in
relation to other people, cultures, and countries. Exploring the history of different peoples and cultures
experiences provides a clearer picture of their views, beliefs, feelings, and opinions. History is a story
told from a political and educational style. Learning how the past shaped a country and the leaders that
had a part in it helps us understand that country s ways and interactions with other countries.
The study of history influences our understanding of others and their culture. Like the quote If we don
t know from where we came, we don t know where we are going . Envisage a world where no one
knew anything about history; no documentation of any event, place or person. How would anyone be
able to 1) avoid repeating past mistakes. 2) know anything of those who came before and all of their
struggles, successes, and failures. By learning about history s participants and events, we can find a
source of inspiration from their courage, diligence and leadership styles.
One of the main reasons to study world history is to learn from and guard against past mistakes. Today
s military leaders should study not only their current enemy s war tactics and maneuvers but also those
of any others that took place in the area to provide context that helps equip an agile mind to make
informed decisions. Using the past actions, military leaders could anticipate their moves and

Persuasive Essay On Roofing Company
Choosing the right roofing company is especially important in the city of Portland. Anyone who lives
in the city knows of its damp and rainy weather, and knows that good roofing is essential to keeping
one s home dry and secure. To be sure, there are many roofing contractors to choose from in the city;
but choosing the best roofing contractor in Portland Oregon takes some thought and diligence.
So, you re looking for a roofer. Well, here are some of the things may want to consider before doing
so.
You certainly want to go with a roofing contractor who uses the best materials. Dampness and wind
wear down roofs quite quickly. Therefore you want to ensure that the contractor you re working with
is using roofing materials that can withstand such elements. Style is also important. You don t want
roof tiles or other materials that clash with the rest of your house or that are significantly out of tune
with other houses in your neighborhood. This is important because such stylistic differences can have
an effect on the value of your property.
Now, you don t want to pay exorbitant costs for this roofing material; so, you want to work with a
roofer who can help you stay with a certain budget. Indeed, it is important to think strategically when

Women, Islamic, And Saudi Arabian Women
The topic that stood out to me the most would be the impact of ethnicity amongst women. It is
amazing how much being a woman and being part of a certain ethnicity can have such an impact on a
woman s life. It is already hard enough for woman to been seen as equal, just imagine what it is like
being a woman of a particular ethnicity. The two articles that we discussed in class are about Filipino,
Islamic, and Saudi Arabian women. Filipino, Islamic, and Saudi Arabian women share some things in
common when it comes to their everyday lives and cultures. Within the Philippine culture, men and
women have very different duties in life. Men are supposed to be the worker of the house and the
women stay in and take care of the family. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, America has started to not think about that stereotype as much, whereas the Philippine
people have not budged on thinking any differently. Another thing that Filipina woman go through is
not having the privileges like other boys, especially their brothers. The author states, parents seldom
allowed their daughters to date, to stay out late, to spend the night at a friend s house, or to take an out
of town trip (Espiritu, p. 16). Therefore, the Filipino girls do not get to experience what it is like to be
a teenager. The girls could experience not being able to be social because of their parents keeping
them so distanced from the real world. This could damage them when they become adults. Another
thing that stood out was the same parents that are stopping their daughter from doing all these things,
are not stopping their son, who could be even younger than the daughter. This makes absolutely no
sense because why would someone let a younger child do something over the older child? A part of
the article that stood out to me was although many parents discourage or forbid dating for daughter,
they still fully expect them to fulfill their traditional roles as women: to marry and have children
(Espiritu, p. 17). This quote shows that Filipino woman do not have choices in life. It is like the
parents are being hypocrites because they are telling them not to do one thing but then expect them to
have a family. How are they supposed to both when they

Title IX Research Paper
In 1972 Congress passed the Educational Amendments. One section of this law, Title IX prohibits
discrimination against girls and women in federally funded education, including in athletic programs.
Since its arrival, in regards to athletics, there have been arguments for and against the many aspects
pertaining to this law. Title IX has had a large impact on high school and college athletics in the
attempt to give females an equal opportunity, but the means by which they are achieving this goal is
an ongoing debate.
The basic Title IX statute provides: No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be
excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any
education program or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, OCR is attempting to make it clear that each of the three prongs of the test is an equally
sufficient means of complying with Title IX, and no one prong is favored (Reynolds July 11, 2003).
The three prong test also makes it clear that it is not Title IX that is forcing the cut backs in men s
sports but those put in a place of decision making at each institution who chose how it is that they
want to comply with Title IX s three prong test.
In some cases a schools decision to cut sports in order to comply with Title IX has lead to a lawsuit.
An example of this would be Miami University. The university formed a committee to address the
issue of Title IX compliance and hired a consultant as well. The committee and consultant determined
that in order to comply with Title IX, the university had the option of eliminating a few sports for men.
As a result, the university eliminated the men s soccer, wrestling and tennis teams, effective at the end
of the 1999 spring semester (Challenge 2002). On November 18, 1999, the plaintiffs filed a complaint
against the defendants, claming that the defendants elimination of the men s wrestling, tennis and
soccer programs at Miami University, a state university of the State of Ohio and a recipient of federal
funds, constituted gender discrimination in violation of the 20 U.S.C. et seq. And violated their rights
to equal protection under the Fourteenth Amendment (United 2002). The court found that the plaintiffs

Nelson Mandela is a man of destiny F.W. De Klerk (140). How did a man who spent 27 years in

Carlin tells the story of Nelson Mandela through the eyes of people close to him as well as through the
eyes of his enemies. Both friends and enemies portray just his presence as overwhelming. Invictus

Many right wing extremist were very upset at the prospect of these talks. Constand Viljoen was a
former overall commander of the SADF (South African Defense Force). He soon become the leader of
a group who called themselves the Volksfront. The Volksfront was a formation of many right wing
groups who had joined together for military purposes. Their main purpose was to not allow the
majority (blacks) to be able to vote. These Afrikaners had been taught their whole lives that black
people did not have the same rights as whites and had grown up in an apartheid society. One day they
decided to show their military prowess and marched to the World Trade Center. Unsure of what to do
the riot police (mostly Afrikaners) allowed the extremist into the building. No shots were fired, but
Viljoen had shown that he had forces ready to act. Mandela was very troubled when he heard the
account of that day and immediately requested a meeting with Viljoen. Once again Mandela used his
overwhelming presence and quelled the concerns Viljoen and people like him had of the increasing
likelihood of an ANC majority in parliament. After multiple meetings with Viljoen, the only attacks
that occurred did not include the entire Volksfront. Mandela was proving that he could impress even
the people who despised him the most, but he would later learn that was not enough to unite a country.

Psalms Of Life Henry Longfellow
An Analysis of 3 messages in Psalm of Life Life is too short to wait. There won t always be time in
life. People need to realize that time does not slow down, if anything it feels faster. Everyone needs to
look at life one day at a time, because if you look and plan for just the future life will breeze right past
you. Many people just look forward to their death instead of trying to see what they can accomplish on
this earth. If people were to just see what their true potential is, then they would understand why life
should not be wasted. Henry Longfellow was a man that was a poet, his was also a traveler and a
romantic. He wrote what the old type of poetry, known to have rhyme and rhythm. He identified
European literature and thoughts throughout his poet. In Henry Longfellow Poem A Psalm of Life
there are three messages told about life. Mr. Longfellow demonstrates the importance of living in the
now. Time is not something that anyone has to waste, it should be used wisely. In Henry s poem A
Psalm of Life he states, Let the dead Past bury its dead/Act act in the living Present! (Lines 22 23)
These lines sum up as whatever happens in life happens. People just need to let the past stay there,
because in reality it is not a real thing. There is no way to go back to the past and touch it. Instead of
holding on to the past and not letting go, people should just act in living the present. There is no need
for someone to spend their entire life thinking about what they did

Oryx And Crake Themes
Think of an adaptation, any adaptation, and some animal somewhere will have thought of it first. Said
by Crake from Oryx and Crake written by Margaret Atwood, this quote has a lot to do with the themes
of Genetic Engineering and Biodiversity. In the book there is a constant reminder that nothing is real,
and I believe that Atwood uses characters such as Jimmy s mother to show the negative aspects of
genetic engineering. As Jimmy has grown up, he has watched his world evolve into a place where
everything and anything could be recreated, including human body parts, food, and nature. Other
books that focus with this issue is The Machine Stops, by E. M. Forster. Before Crake had even

With new products that allowed yourself to change yourself, these products were all a contribution for
a constant need for modification, like a drug. If you were able to change yourself for the better why
wouldn t you? An interesting part in Oryx and Crake is the sales pitch, Jimmy makes for the
BlyssPluss Pill. It openly advertised 3 things, immunity to sexually transmitted diseases, an unlimited
supply to sexual libido, and a prolonged youth. What the advertisement fails to mention is that by
taking the pill, you will lose the ability to have children. I don t believe that this would have stopped
the people from taking the pill. With all the positive outcomes, would it really have made much of a
difference? That was the major problem with genetic modification, it was a choice. Through a series
of events it can be argued that the BlyssPluss was able to end the human race, and because of the great
advertising that was used it spread like wildfire. All the people knew were the positive aspects,
making it seem like an end to all problems, just like what companies are doing today. With products
that help your skin or pills to help alter your appearance, though it may seem less extreme, we are

Mexican American And Mexican-American Cultures
After reading the article, my understanding of the terms have changed drastically, when i personally
think about Mexican American or Chicana/O s, i think that they choose to identify as a certain culture
that represents them best.
When identifying as a culture or a best representation of how you feel in your heart, i feel it comes
from the way you are raised and brought up, if your family identifies as a Mexican American than you
will believe that is what you are, and it goes on from generation to generation.
Even 5 or 6 generations ago the family could have identified as Hispano s or even Spanish, but as
times change cultures change and people have change of heart.
These terms are not only culturally related but they are derived from struggle and identification from a
political standpoint, as what was taught in class the term Chicana/O is a political positioning for
people who have been positioned by the government.
From the outside looking in, when knowing someone identifies as a certain culture i notice that it is
not only a way of self identification that was passed down from suffering and scrutiny but it is also a
way of moving on from a certain struggle that has oppressed them for so many years.
Yes, these terms are a way of self identification, heritage, culture and a way of life, it goes back to the
same way you are brought up and the environment in which you live in.
Potentially while growing up and as you get older in life there is a possibility of changing

Manners Customs
Manners represent an individual by the way they dress, behave, communicate, and their etiquette,
while customs refer to the traditional way that a culture is practice individually, or by a group of
people. Workers are expected to bow to their seniors when they greet them, and to use only formal
language to their seniors, as it is rude to speak informally to someone of higher rank. In Korean
businesses, meetings are often held in evenings at a restaurant or bar. Drinking is part of the Korean
culture, as Koreans believe that drinking helps to bond colleagues in the company, and an offered
drink must never be refused as it is considered to be rude. Along with drinking, Karaoke is a popular
activity after meetings. People who attend the meeting are usually expected to sing a solo song.
Personal Communication
In South Korea, the Korean language is the most frequently used language and the Koreans use
Hangul as the main writing system. Quoted from kwintessential.co.uk, The Korean language is spoken
by more than 65 million people living on the peninsula and its outlying islands as well as 5.5 million
Koreans living in other parts of the world. The fact that all Koreans speak and write the same language
has been a crucial factor in their strong national identity. In the present time, Korea boasts many

The Positive Consequences Of Sociocultural Factors In Society
1 Sociocultural Factors in Society Jordan A. Shelton September 28th, 2017 2 Different Sociocultural
Factors in Society Living in a very technology based world can pose both negative and positive

negative aspects at hand out of the way so we can end on a better/positive note. Social Media has

Why Sols Should Be Banned
Sols should be banned because they cause lots of stress during them and preparing for them. Another
reason why SOLs are bad is because they give only a small amount of time to study everything you
have learned all year. One other reason is you have to take a bunch of test before the SOL to see how
you might do on the test. These reasons are why I am going to convince you that SOLs should be
banned. For starters, let s face it SOLs cause so much stress on the teachers and the students. There is
a lot of stress and anxiety during the entire school year to make sure students are even ready to take
these tests. The stress these cause can really make a student feel like they are not smart and not fitting
in. This is because students have to answer trick questions that are different than the kind they have to
answer is class. Also, because the SOLs are long and boring which causes more anxiety because you
see other students worry about it too. You also get stressed when some people are already finished
before you. Next I am going to talk about another reason why SOLs should be banned. You first start
getting all these review packets only a few weeks before the tests but you get them for a bunch of
classes at once. The problem is most people can not remember most of it. Especially when people
have a hard time focusing or remembering when there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The tests are long and tricky because of the questions. It would be way easier if you could just talk to
someone about the answers instead of sitting in a room staring at a computer

What Are Propaganda Techniques Used In The Diary Of Anne...
The Holocaust: In Memory of Millions During the Holocaust, Hitler and the Nazis used propaganda
posters to persue the German people to support their actions. I believe that the reason they supported
their actions is because propaganda persuade large numbers of people about the truth of an idea, the
value of a product, or the appropriateness of an attitude. But the poster they had said that Hitler needs
you to come support him and he used different types of propaganda techniques. I do believe that there
is a similar tragedy that is happening in the world today. For example, when Isis attacked Paris, the
attack was on November 13, 2015. The attackers killed 130 people, they took hostages to the Bataclan
theatre before engaging in a stand off with police. Another 368 people were injured and 80 99 were

deeply about why extroversion is being so prized in contrast to introversion, that is considered to be
something negative. She affirms that this is partly a consequence of our education system and also of

The Grapes of Wrath Essays
The Grapes of Wrath The Grapes of Wrath is set in the horrible stage of our American history, the
Depression. Economic, social, and historical surroundings separate the common man of America into
basically the rich and poor. A basic theme is that man turns against one another in a selfish pride to
only protect themselves. For example, the landowners create a system in which migrants are treated
like animals and pushed along from one roadside camp to the next. They are denied decent wages and
forced to turn against their fellow scramblers to simply survive. The Grapes of Wrath tells the story of
two types of families in that the Joads are a factual one and the body of migrant workers as the other.

Tom, though, is a very complicated individual who turns out to be a tremendous asset and burden to
the family. His parole causes the family an unneeded worry, but does get work that helps the family.
He is the main protagonist for his family and the main follower of Jim Casy s philosophy on human
nature. Jim is much more of a talker and idealist, and he actually puts what he preached into action.
Jim Casy is frequently compared with Jesus Christ and his lifestyle of preaching and leading people.
As well as sacrificing himself for Tom and the Joad family which upholds his common held belief.
Tom carries Jim s message after his death and aids others with it. The Joad family, along with Jim

reader can take away from this novel. The setting is so important to the novel because it sets the role

Baranczak And Trzeciak
In the Nobel Lecture written in 1996, Szymborska pinpoints the inspiration of her poetry by asking the
question I don t know . Szymborska continues to elaborate on this concept by stating it s just not easy
to explain to someone else what you don t understand yourself. Using this notion to pinpoint the
themes she develops throughout the context of her poems, she portrays The End and the Beginning
through two contradicting ideas that refer back to the concept of I don t know. The title itself interprets
a contrast of two opposite ideas, the end and the beginning. But what do these themes represent?
These two different perspectives are elaborated within each translation. The poem begins by
introducing this aspect, After every war someone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Referring to the concept of the two perspectives, Szymborska s diction, tone, and imagery introduces a
theme of war. She titles the poem this way to express one perspective of war, which is defined through
the context of the poem, the end. This aspect is thoroughly emphasized through Baranczak and
Cavanaugh s translation. The diction provided by Baranczak and Cavanaugh s translation provides the
tone and imagery that form this poem. The descriptive element in this literary work creates an effect of
imagery. The audience can vividly comprehend the idea that Szymborska introduces unlike Trzeciak s
translation, which expresses a more concise tone. The brevity of her translation makes the piece less
descriptive and introduces little imagery. Baranczak and Cavanaugh s translation acknowledges the
tone of the poem, which is the acknowledgment of the end of the war instead of the beginning. The
meaning of the end and the beginning can reflect multitudes of themes. Szymborska s diction
introduces the theme of war. This theme is better acknowledged through the descriptive and
elaborative elements of Baranczak and Cavanaugh s

The Importance Of Relational Meetings
A relational meeting is arguably one of the most important parts of a social change organization.
Unlike casual conversations, a relational meeting allows the organizer to connect with others on a
personal level in order to objectively assess the organization and see how it can better serve others. In
addition, relational meetings help the organizer understand negative feelings in the community and
come up with ways to combat them. A day is not complete without a relational meeting at Homeboy

The Mesoamerican society of the ancient Maya was one of the most dominant civilizations of its time.
Centered in what is now Guatemala, this empire reached its peak around the sixth century CE. The

name a few. Many of their accomplishments can be traced back to their deeply religious way of life.
Understanding the Mayan religion gives us insight into their values and traditions; it allows us to see

Dylan Thomas To An Athlete Dying Young
How do most people, in general, feel about death? Are they calm, scared, indifferent? In Dylan
Thomas poem, Do not go gentle into that good night and A.E Housman s poem, To An Athlete Dying
Young the poets use literary devices to portray their different perspectives on death. In Thomas poem,
he creates a sense of injustice and anger towards the perceived death of his father. Housman, on the
other hand, has a more serene outlook on the event even though it still depicts sadness.
The metaphors used in Thomas poem show his resistance and rage on accepting his father s death.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light (Thomas l.3). is an example of just how much he needs his
father to fight, if not for himself then for Thomas. When he says,

Essay about Variations in Animation in Different Cultures
Animation in different cultures
Animation has a variety of differences between Japanese culture and the culture of the United States.
While animation is usually made for the sole purpose of entertainment for children in the United
States, Japanese animation, also known as anime as it is referred to both in Japan and in the West, is a
form of media that is enjoyed by people of all ages. Unlike the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and
SpongeBob Square pants, both very popular American animations shows in their times, anime focuses
more on drama and other non childlike qualities. The differing cultures of the United States and Japan

With the rapid spread of television in the 1960 s, Japanese animators found a new way to sell their

Astro Boy, seeing success in western countries such as the United States and Europe. Another popular

Osmosis Lab Report
First you must define what diffusion is, diffusion is when molecules in a solute spread from high
concentrated areas into lower concentrated areas, without outside forces acting upon it. Diffusion is
affected by molecular kinetic energy, diffusion can also occur in all three states of matter. Now you
must define osmosis, osmosis is similar to diffusion but is when water molecules pass through a semi
permeable from the less concentrated solution to the more concentrated solution. In cells osmosis is
not only affected by the concentration of the solute but also by the resistance of the water movement.

careful with it after you take the hard shell off. If it is dropped there is a great possibility that it will

You would also want to make sure the eggs are the same size and same brand. You would also want to

must also be used to weigh the eggs. Also you would need to make sure that each of the eggs are kept

The Conditions For Factory Workers In Nineteenth Century Britain
In the nineteenth century some people thought that factories were the best thing that ever created in
Great Britain, however, workers inside them thought differently.
No group was as exploited as children, who were put to work before they could read or write.Children
were employed in industry and agriculture as soon as they started using their hands and were able to
walk. They worked in farms, mills, factories, coalmines and on the streets. They sacrificed having an
education for working long hours for little money, working in unacceptable conditions for employers
who had no interest in safety.

The Factory Act, 1833 was an attempt to set up a normal working day in a single department of
industry, textile manufacture. The way in which it planned to do this was the following: The working
day was to start at 5.30 a.m. and stop at 8.30 p.m. A young person (aged thirteen to eighteen) might
not be employed beyond any period of twelve hours, excluding one and a half for meals, and a child
(aged nine to thirteen) beyond any period of nine hours. From 8.30 p.m. to 5.30 a.m.; that is during the
night, the employment of such people was forbidden.
The Factory Act of 1844 is an extremely important one in the history of family legislation. The Act
reduced the hours of work for children between eight and thirteen to six and a half a day, either in the
morning or afternoon, no child being allowed to work in both on the same day, except on alternate
days, and then only for ten hours. Young persons and women (now included for the first time) were to
have the same hours, i.e. not more than twelve for the first five days of the week (with one and a half
out for meals), and nine on Saturday.

Contemporary Quebec In The Twentieth Century
In many ways, contemporary Quebec is a drastically different society than the Quebec of the early
twentieth century. No longer can the majority of Quebecers be described as religious, rural, and
conservative; instead they are generally secular, urban, and liberal. This transformation has come
about largely because of the change in values that occurred as Quebec modernized: today s Quebec is
built around the values of secularism, gender equality, and the primacy of the French language,
principles that would have seemed outlandish a few generations ago. Change triggers the urge to ask
questions, and in this case, the question raised is whether or not Quebec society is better off as a result
of its commitment to these values. In my opinion, one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Women attain higher education, have greater control of their bodies, make their own choices, and
work in all professions, including politics. Obviously, women have thus benefited from this value
change, and in my opinion, that alone makes modern Quebec a superior society to the older one. I
would contend, however, that men have benefited as well, for they too are now freer to choose a
lifestyle that appeals to them, rather than the one that men are expected to live. They also benefit from
the inclusion of individuals with alternate skills and viewpoints in Quebec s public sphere, and from
greater protection of their own rights against gender discrimination. Moreover, a society that cares
about gender equality is more likely to care about other types of equality as well, and in my opinion,
this is true in the case of Quebec. While there are certainly still challenges to be addressed, Quebec
society is now more inclusive, diverse, and just, and I believe that commitment to gender equality is
related to this improvement. The last central value of modern Quebec society is the primacy of the
French language, and here, too, I believe that Quebec society was less healthy before this value was
committed to. Although the vast majority of Quebecers spoke French,

Analysis Of The Margolin s Lawsuit With The Rules Of...
When considering the facts of the Margolin s lawsuit with the rules of jurisdiction, first one must
understand when personal jurisdiction and subject matter jurisdiction would be applicable. As stated in
the textbook, Personal Jurisdiction is a court s power to render a decision affecting the rights of the
specific persons before the court. Generally, a court s power to exercise in personam jurisdiction
extends only over a specific geographic region. (Kubasek, pg.42, 2009). Before a court can decide to
implement control over a person, they require a minimum contact within the district in which the court
is over. In this case, the minimum contact was established over the internet when Margolin inputted
information over the internet that completed the business transaction. Since the contact is through the
internet, and not within boundaries of the state of California or Florida, the court can exercise personal
jurisdiction Margolin s lawsuit over Funny Face and Novelty Now (Kubasek, 2009).
The subject matter jurisdiction is the courts authority to judge particular lawsuits in federal or state
courts. As discussed in the textbook, Subject matter jurisdiction determines which court system may
hear a particular case (Kubasek, pg.44, 2009). Novelty One s website states that all complaints must
be settled with the state of Florida when filed against Funny Face or Novelty One. Therefore, the
lawsuit against Novelty One will need to be filed with the state of Florida courts.

World War Two And Its Effect On The World
World War Two
World War Two began in 1939 and it when for six year, World War Two lasted until both the Germans
and the Japanese had surrendered in 1945, which was six years after it began. It began in September
1939 when Britain and France declared war on Germany after Germany had invaded Poland. January
1933 Adolf Hitler became Chancellor of Germany and he immediately he secretly built up Germany s
army and weapons. In 1934 he made the size of the army bigger and he began to build warships and
he created a German air force. Britain and France were aware of Germany preparing for war but they
were concerned about the rise of Communism and they thought that if Germany was stronger, it might
prevent the spread of Communism. In 1936 German troops entered Rhineland, they weren t very
strong at this point and they couldn t of been defeated easily by France or England but neither of them

Relationship Between English And Native Americans
The strongly mannered opinions that Englishmen had formed towards the Native Americans during
this time of Early Virginia were very incredulous. The English and Native Americans had a
complicated partnership. Englishmen actually had their first encounter with the Native Americans in
December of 1606, where they were welcomed upon arrival by Native Americans in an attack towards
the Englishmen. Although, the Englishmen perceived the Americans as very prestigious individuals,
they knew even before getting to Jamestown that they would heavily rely on the Americans for their
crops, their land and other helpful resources that the Indians were known for. While the Englishmen
had very poor opinions regarding the Native Americans based on them being uneducated
Conservatives, Native Americans were helpful towards Englishmen in a number of ways despite their
troublesome conflicts towards each other. Prior to arriving in Jamestown, Englishmen had many
different opinions of the Native Americans. The Englishmen knew that they would have to form a
good bond with the Americans if they wanted to keep the peace between them. Subsequently, they
knew they were going to need the Americans help once arriving to Jamestown. According to The

What Is Electromyography Is A Method For Evaluate Levels...
Abstract: Electromyography is a method to evaluate levels of muscular activity. When a muscle fiber
contracts, an action potential is generated and this circulates along the muscular fibers. In
electromyography, electrodes are connected to the skin and the electrical activity of muscles is
measured and graph is plotted. The surface electromyography signals selected during the muscular
activity are interfaced with a system. The EMG signals from individual suffering from Neuropathy
and healthy individual, so obtained, are processed and analyzed using signal processing techniques.
This project includes the investigation and interpretation of EMG signals of healthy and Neuropathic
individuals using MATLAB. The prospective utilization of this study is in developing the prosthetic
device for the people with Neuropathic disability.
Keywords: EMG, action potential, MATLAB, Neuropathy.

Analysis Of The Novel The Great God Pan
Arthur Machen and H.G. Wells were one of the most influential writers in the history of the English
language. Through their works, both Machen and Wells illustrated the themes of sexuality and horror
by exploring the idea of the supernatural. However, Machen s gothic novella The Great God Pan
(1894) and H.G. Wells sci fi novel The Island of Dr. Moreau (1896) further exemplified the theme of
humankind s relationship to God. In the late Victorian period, the influence of religious mythology fell
upon writers in England, and stories of the unseen became popular and abundant. This era was a time
when the public started to seriously question their religious lives. Nevertheless, The Great God Pan
was denounced by the public upon its publication for its focus on God as a powerful symbol for horror
and sexuality. On the other hand, Wells The Island of Dr. Moreau was written as a satire, mocking
Christianity and other forms of religion. In this short essay, I will expand on religious symbolism and
point out the influence of Christianity using Arthur Machen s The Great God Pan and H.G. Wells The
Island of Dr. Moreau.
Arthur Machen s The Great God Pan chiefly explores the themes of horror through the characteristics
of the Greek god Pan. As a classic of horror, the novella is filled with religious allusion, powerful
symbolism, and sexual content. Moreover, it can be interpreted as a parody of the Bible. The novella
portrays Helen, a woman born to a Pan possessed mother named

The Media s Effect on Self-Esteem Essay
Everyone wants to look good; that is a given. What steps must people take in order to look their best?
Does it only take a little bit of make up or maybe a nicer dress shirt? Or does it require missing a few

perfect woman or man is skinny, most of the time skinnier than what is considered healthy. For
example, when choosing between a skinny and a larger woman for an ad about the perfect body ,
people watching the commercial could not accept the larger woman as a suitable candidate. That is

That fact is something people these days need pressed into their brains so they will not be more
worried about why they cannot look the way models do. A model s career is centered on the
preservation of his or her outer appearance (Sales, 1 Jan. 2010). There is no need for teens to feel
pressures of a warped body image. They cannot afford a stylist and makeup artist to prepare them for

Sometimes the models body shapes are changed (Kowalski, 1 Mar. 2003). Although, it is

Bottlenose dolphins may eat many various aquatic organisms. Usually bottlenose dolphins eat fish and
crustaceans. They also may eat octopus, mackerel, cod, herring, mullet, squid and eels, along with
shrimp. The adult dolphins take in about four to five percent of their body weight in food each day!
The average bottlenose dolphin will consume seven to ten pounds of food a day. Of course, the male

  • 2. Accountability in the Army Essay The US Army values soldiers that are accountable for their actions. Being accountable means being dependable; arriving to work and appointments on time, meeting deadlines, being in the right place at the right time and doing the right thing at the right time. Morning formation is the most imprtant formation of the day. It is made to get accountability of everyone and to put out any information that needs to be addressed. Without having accountability there is no way of knowing where soldiers are or whats going on. Not only does accountability matter in formation, but it is also imperative to have accountability if all of your weapons and sensitive items. What is accountability? Accountability is the obligation imposed by law or lawful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It does not look well on them if they can not complete this task. This actually shows thats the soldier can t be depended on when they are needed. This also hurts them when they are being looked at for promotions or any favorable actions. As a soldier you want to always make a great impression on your leaders, and not being able to make it on time is not acceptable to them. It would make things run alot smootherif everyone was on time all of the time. If no one was at the right place at the right time, it would set what ever mission you have back. It also makes a negative impact on your leadership. However, I also feel that as leaders, they should also realize that things may happen with the soldiers. Whether its being late to formation, missing an appointment due to some circumstance, as long as the soldier doesn t make it a habbit then forgiveness should be granted on that instance. • 4. Anolis Lizards Essay Ecological Speciation in Anolis Lizards Adaptive radiation of different organisms have occurred throughout geological time through the filling of ecological niches. Organisms different from one another are capable of radiating greatly, as they evolve traits that allow them to thrive better in their environment. The Anolis lizards of the Caribbean islands are a great example of a single genus to have radiated not once, but multiple times through very similar mechanisms. Different populations of the Anolis phenotypically vary in their morphological traits to facilitate adaptation to particular niches. These phenotypic variations have evolved in convergence in more than one occasion, as recently discovered fossil specimens show similar patterns in morphology to modern Anolis. Anolis as a Model Organism. Anolis is a primary example used in evolutionary studies in diversification. Nicholson et al. (2005) show that their existence on the islands has resulted from single colonization events (p. 935). After a population settles on an island, the lizards begin to specialize in habitats and fill unoccupied niches. Subpopulations that correspond to each niche ... As seen with Anolis, single species of organisms have the ability to undergo adaptive radiation and become new species by filling niches in a given environment. This is prevalent not only in Anolis, but other model organisms as well, such as finches, sticklebacks, and cichlids. All of these organisms have gone through the similar mechanisms and processes to evolve into different species. Alike to Anolis, they have gone through reproductive isolation, adaptation, and convergent evolution. Due to a poor fossil record of Anolis, the other model organisms may give better outlook on how they have diverged overtime. Further investigations on all of these organisms and their evolutionary mechanisms would not only give better a better idea of ecological speciation, but more comprehension on the origin of all ... • 6. Vietnam s History and the Twentieth Century It is both necessary and helpful to study the context of prior history because it reveals who we are in relation to other people, cultures, and countries. Exploring the history of different peoples and cultures experiences provides a clearer picture of their views, beliefs, feelings, and opinions. History is a story told from a political and educational style. Learning how the past shaped a country and the leaders that had a part in it helps us understand that country s ways and interactions with other countries. The study of history influences our understanding of others and their culture. Like the quote If we don t know from where we came, we don t know where we are going . Envisage a world where no one knew anything about history; no documentation of any event, place or person. How would anyone be able to 1) avoid repeating past mistakes. 2) know anything of those who came before and all of their struggles, successes, and failures. By learning about history s participants and events, we can find a source of inspiration from their courage, diligence and leadership styles. One of the main reasons to study world history is to learn from and guard against past mistakes. Today s military leaders should study not only their current enemy s war tactics and maneuvers but also those of any others that took place in the area to provide context that helps equip an agile mind to make informed decisions. It is amazing how much being a woman and being part of a certain ethnicity can have such an impact on a woman s life. It is already hard enough for woman to been seen as equal, just imagine what it is like being a woman of a particular ethnicity. The two articles that we discussed in class are about Filipino, Islamic, and Saudi Arabian women. Therefore, the Filipino girls do not get to experience what it is like to be a teenager. The girls could experience not being able to be social because of their parents keeping them so distanced from the real world. This could damage them when they become adults. Another thing that stood out was the same parents that are stopping their daughter from doing all these things, are not stopping their son, who could be even younger than the daughter. This makes absolutely no sense because why would someone let a younger child do something over the older child? A part of the article that stood out to me was although many parents discourage or forbid dating for daughter, they still fully expect them to fulfill their traditional roles as women: to marry and have children (Espiritu, p. 17). In some cases a schools decision to cut sports in order to comply with Title IX has lead to a lawsuit. An example of this would be Miami University. The university formed a committee to address the issue of Title IX compliance and hired a consultant as well. The committee and consultant determined that in order to comply with Title IX, the university had the option of eliminating a few sports for men. As a result, the university eliminated the men s soccer, wrestling and tennis teams, effective at the end of the 1999 spring semester (Challenge 2002). People need to realize that time does not slow down, if anything it feels faster. • 27. The Grapes of Wrath Essays The Grapes of Wrath The Grapes of Wrath is set in the horrible stage of our American history, the Depression. Economic, social, and historical surroundings separate the common man of America into basically the rich and poor. A basic theme is that man turns against one another in a selfish pride to only protect themselves. For example, the landowners create a system in which migrants are treated like animals and pushed along from one roadside camp to the next. They are denied decent wages and forced to turn against their fellow scramblers to simply survive. Szymborska continues to elaborate on this concept by stating it s just not easy to explain to someone else what you don t understand yourself. Using this notion to pinpoint the themes she develops throughout the context of her poems, she portrays The End and the Beginning through two contradicting ideas that refer back to the concept of I don t know. The descriptive element in this literary work creates an effect of imagery. The audience can vividly comprehend the idea that Szymborska introduces unlike Trzeciak s translation, which expresses a more concise tone. The brevity of her translation makes the piece less descriptive and introduces little imagery. In Thomas poem, he creates a sense of injustice and anger towards the perceived death of his father. No longer can the majority of Quebecers be described as religious, rural, and conservative; instead they are generally secular, urban, and liberal. This transformation has come about largely because of the change in values that occurred as Quebec modernized: today s Quebec is built around the values of secularism, gender equality, and the primacy of the French language, principles that would have seemed outlandish a few generations ago. Change triggers the urge to ask questions, and in this case, the question raised is whether or not Quebec society is better off as a result of its commitment to these values. In my opinion, one ... They also benefit from the inclusion of individuals with alternate skills and viewpoints in Quebec s public sphere, and from greater protection of their own rights against gender discrimination. Moreover, a society that cares about gender equality is more likely to care about other types of equality as well, and in my opinion, this is true in the case of Quebec. While there are certainly still challenges to be addressed, Quebec society is now more inclusive, diverse, and just, and I believe that commitment to gender equality is related to this improvement. Through their works, both Machen and Wells illustrated the themes of sexuality and horror by exploring the idea of the supernatural. However, Machen s gothic novella The Great God Pan (1894) and H.G. Wells sci fi novel The Island of Dr. Moreau (1896) further exemplified the theme of humankind s relationship to God. In the late Victorian period, the influence of religious mythology fell upon writers in England, and stories of the unseen became popular and abundant. This era was a time when the public started to seriously question their religious lives. Nevertheless, The Great God Pan was denounced by the public upon its publication for its focus on God as a powerful symbol for horror and sexuality. On the other hand, Wells The Island of Dr. Moreau was written as a satire, mocking Christianity and other forms of religion. In this short essay, I will expand on religious symbolism and point out the influence of Christianity using Arthur Machen s The Great God Pan and H.G. Wells The Island of Dr. Moreau. Arthur Machen s The Great God Pan chiefly explores the themes of horror through the characteristics of the Greek god Pan.
