Essay on Wild by Cheryl Strayed
Straying away from life as a whole only to be alone, some may say is the strong way to heal
themselves when dealing with extreme grief or a major crisis . In the book Wild, twenty two year
old Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost it all. Dealing with the loss of her mother, her family torn
to pieces, and her very own marriagewas being destroyed right before her very eyes. Living life
with nothing more to lose, lifeless, she made the most life changing decision of her life. Strayed
never seems remorseful on her decisions to up and leave everything behind while deciding to flee
from it all. This being her way of dealing with life, it shows her as being strong; a woman of great
strength and character. She shows personal strength, which is... Show more content on

All too often we do not think about our personal strength until a situation arises that causes us to use
this natural attribute that we know as strength.
Many women have been through incidents where one has had to exhibited personal strength to
get through an appalling event or circumstance. Preparing for this journey, Strayed packed a
backpack to take along with her on the Pacific Crest Trail. Not knowing what all she needed, she
packed unnecessary items such as books, shoes, stoves, and even a twelve pack of condoms, but
why? Going into something for the first time not knowing what to expect can be very dangerous.
Every night the unexpected happened Each night the black sky and the bright stars were my
stunning companions; occasionally I d see their beauty and solemnity so plainly that I d realize in a
piercing way that my mother was right. That someday I WOULD be grateful and that in fact I was
grateful now, that I felt something growing in me that was strong and real (Strayed 128).
In the Article The Love of My Life written by Cheryl Strayed as well, she cheated on her husband
which is stated at the very beginning, The first time I cheated on my husband, my mother had been
dead for exactly a week. Many people experience jagged relationships at least once in their lifetime
in which it is very unhealthy to stay in. It is a situation where individuals find themselves in, but

Molecular and Cellular Behavior
Signal transduction pathways link signal reception with cellular response
Signal transduction pathways regulate what occurs in, between, and amid individual cells. They
are incredibly crucial because they initiate large responses beginning with a single signal. These
chemical signals are called ligands that enter the cell either through active or passive transport. If
the ligand is small and nonpolar (such as nitric oxide, oxygen gas, and carbon dioxide), then it
will simply diffuse through the cell membrane and will attach to an intracellular receptor.
However, if the ligand does not fit into this category it will attach to a membrane receptor. These
ligands are specific to each receptor. This ensures that no ligand will bind to an incorrect receptor.
Once a receptor is bound, a signal is transduced in a way that the cell can acknowledge it. Signal
transduction pathways will fundamentally affect gene expression, change enzyme or protein
activity, and possibly cell death.
Membrane Receptors
Membrane receptors span the membrane of the cell. Since hydrophilic molecules cannot simply
diffuse through the cells to send a signal to the cell, they must attach to these receptors to be able to
send a signal inside the cell.
Ligand Gated Ion channel receptor
Specific signal molecules open and close ion channel receptors that permit the passing of ions in
and out of the cell. These ions include Na+, K+, Ca2+, or Cl , necessary for sending chemical
signals.

The Dispute Between Sparta And The Athenian
strategically important colony of Corinth. Fighting ensued, and the Athenians then took steps that
explicitly violated the Thirty Years Treaty. Sparta and its allies accused Athens of aggression and
threatened war.
On the advice of Pericles, its most influential leader, Athens refused to back down. Diplomatic
efforts to resolve the dispute failed. Finally, in the spring of 431, a Spartan ally, Thebes, attacked an
Athenian ally, Plataea, and open war began.
The years of fighting that followed can be divided into two periods, separated by a truce of six
years. The first period lasted 10 years and began with the Spartans, under Archidamus II, leading an
army into Attica, the region around Athens. Periclesdeclined to engage the superior allied

The Company I m Working For Lts Nj Inc.
The company I m currently working for LTS NJ Inc., is a growing surveillance products supplier
in US since 2005. We import CCTV cameras and other comparable surveillance products from
manufactures in China and sell them to the installers here in US. We are a relative small company
with around thirty sales representatives, twelve warehouse workers, ten surveillance engineers and
a four people analytics team.
Compare to our major competitors like ADI (leading supplier in industry), we are still very young.
In such an industry that many similar companies offering similar products and use comparable tech,
unique geographical advantage no longer matter in competition. What s left for us is to execute the
business with maximum efficiency and effectiveness and to make the smartest decisions possible.
According to the theory of Jim Riley, Value chainanalysis describes the activities that take place in

work by Michael Porter suggested that the activities of a business couold be grouped under two

My Experience At Summer Camp
You and your sister are soooooo different, my friend, who I had met at summer camp a couple
years before, informed me as we stood beneath the blistering sun, our necks slicked with sweat
and our throats parched. Approximately two second before Julia spoke those words, my sister
had attempted to do a cartwheel in front of the whole camp, failed miserably, and screamed out
in amusement. The episode was followed first by a simultaneous gasp from the mouths of 200
campers, in fear of her injury, and then a fit of booming laughter when she stuck up her thumb
and smiled. While everyone stood around watching her, I pouted on the sidelines of the
common field and shook my head in shame. Of course I wanted to be in on the fun, laughing
and jumping and doing gymnastics with the rest of West Mountain Camp s population. But
instead, I felt forced into a reputation created for me so many years ago as the quiet, calm and
mature twin sister of the rambunctious and outgoing Chloe Blumberg. Always sitting on the
sidelines, reading my books, doling out my wise words and keeping my sister in check. The
funny thing is, I can t remember it ever being different. I was always told by my mom, dad and
grandparents that I was the quiet and mature one of the duo, and that I didn t need to get attention
in the way Chloe always did because my intelligence was enough to give me the recognition I
needed. Chloe was just always so loud and clumsy that by default I was destined to be the other

Louie...Louie!! She shouted at him. His attention was elsewhere, and she knew every day

What? he barked as he finally turned towards her. As he loomed over her, standing at the foot of
their bed, buried in his cellphone, she got her first good look at him for the day. She took in his
ragged demeanor; his dirty worn out clothes too large for his scrawny frame. Through a tear in
his pants she could see a cut on his leg, no doubt attained by begging on the streets of St. Louis.
She never saw him do it anymore but there was no doubt in her mind that he had kept that habit,

The New York Times Coverage Of The Holocaust
This research topic was on the New York Times coverage of the Holocaust. When first starting
this report the idea of how the Holocaust was treated in the United States never truly came to
mind. After doing a research project on it, the things that came up was some unbelievable stuff.
The American reporting on the Holocaust was absolutely atrocious, in one of the biggest
genocides in all of history, almost half of the American people didn t even know about the
Holocaust and still to this day most people don t know much about it; One of the biggest
newspapers out at this time failed in getting important information out to the American people, and
the sad part about it all is that not only did the newspaper know about it, but the President of the
United States as well. Unpublished Information The New York Times had all the information on
what was happening in Europe, however even though the editors knew the information just
DIMINISHED. The thing I truly never understood is that, why would reporters have information
and never publish what they truly could. Its essence became knowable very fast, from Nazi threats
and undisputed eyewitness reports collected by Americans agents (Gonchar). The original sin of
neglecting the Holocaust and the current trend that has seen unprecedented coverage of alleged
genocides may very well be linked, (Kersten). The New York Times, the nation s leading
newspaper, didn t report on the full effect of the killing of the Jews. ( The United

Morality And The Origins Of Morality
Most of the times Nietzsche understands morality as the set of values typical of the European
society of his days. In this sense, it is safe to say that Nietzsche opposes morality and that
genealogy serves the ultimate goal of undermining it. However, it is legitimate to envision for
genealogy a scope for application which goes beyond the particular moralityof 19th century
Germans. Accordingly, my claim is that in Nietzsche European morality represents just one
possible form of morality. Nietzsche himself seems to claim that he is focusing his attacks only
on a specific instance of morality one among possible others. So for example, in the preface to On
the Genealogy of Morals he claims that the object of the book is the value of... Show more content

2 Morals are therefore normative codes according to which we orientate ourselves in the context of
different spheres of life.
Assuming that Schacht s interpretation is correct, I believe that his analysis bear strong
similarities with the view of morality I adopted in the first chapter. On one hand, Schacht s talk
of spheres of life leads to transcend our often restricted understanding of morality as including
simply the realm of ethical rights and duties, or as being focused on explaining why and how we
should act in order to live morally. In Schacht s sense, morality rather seems to include the mores
of the Latin or the ethoi of the Greek. In other words, our family of norms is the set of values we
live by in all the different situations we come across in our existence, including many areas of life
that the restricted understanding of morality would not consider as relevant. Furthermore, to
understand these mores/ethoi as moral standards or imperatives to which we have to conform is to
understand only a side aspect of them. In fact, more than simply being moral rules directing our
behaviour, these customs constitute our un reflected habits that is, the way in which we
automatically express ourselves in a particular context , often being normative on a very
unconscious level.

1.Political dependences: After researching international trade, it has been proven that international

2.Import of harmful goods: Items that are not durable and are imported to a country often affects

Egoism And Moral Skepticism By James Rachels
James Rachels introduces in his written works, Egoism and Moral Skepticism, two different
theories of human nature: psychological egoism and ethical egoism. The theory of psychological
egoism refers to the view that all human actions are self centered. On the other hand, the theory of
ethical egoism is the idea that we are not obligated to do anything other than what is in our interest.
Most individuals would consistently believe in ethical egoismbecause most generally care about
the well being of others. The scenario states that there is an outbreak of a deadly disease in the
remote area where a colleague and I are spending our month long business trip, working with two
other people from the local village. A viral of vaccine was dropped off by officials from the
government s disease control agency, but it is only enough to completely ensure two people
and 99% chance if it was equally distributed. My colleague and I are given the opportunity to
keep the vaccine to ourselves without the others knowing. My colleague, who is an ethical
egoist, tells me that we should not share because there is no reason for us to help the others and
put our lives at risk for not taking the full amount of vaccine. For the sake of the vaccine and the
argument, I will accept my colleague s ethical theory and based on his views, I will convince him
to share with the others. I believe this is a better approach because an ethical egoist s primary
principle is himself and therefore, by focusing on

Atrial Septal Defect Case Study
Atrial septal defect(ASD) is a common congenital heart disease with a female to male ratio of
approximately 2:1.The most common type of Atrial Septal Defect is a secundum defect which is
characterized by a defect in the inter atrial septum which allows pulmonary venous return from the
left atrium to pass directly to the right atrium. Normally the patients with Atrial Septal Defect
remain asymptomatic up to third or fourth decade of life and in the middle age some clinical
symptoms can be observed. A shunt is the presence of a net flow of bloodthrough the defect, either
from left to right or right to left. The amount of shunting actually determines the hemodynamic

Doppler imaging and echo PIV cannot measure the velocity in a direction perpendicular to the
beam, but Vector Flow Mapping (VFM) allows the calculation of velocities perpendicular to the
direction of the beam without angle dependency with the use of the continuity equation and
speckle tracking echocardiography[14]. This energy loss is assumed to become a new indicator
of cardiac function[15]. So, it is considered an effective index to monitor the blood flow efficiency
within the heart chambers under various pathological conditions. Blood is viscous in nature and
generates frictional heat due to viscosity at the site where turbulent flows occur[16]. In case of
Atrial Septal Defect blood flows through the hole across the atrial chambers and creates a
turbulence in the atrial as well as ventricle chambers during early diastole, ventricular systole and
atrial contraction, which probably ensue an increased intra cardiac Energy Loss.
Therefore, the aim of this study was to use the new technique of Vector Flow Mapping (VFM) to
measure the reference values of intra cardiac energy loss in ASD patients pre and post occlusion

Another important strategy to use is to make sure not to overeat. According to an article on

To avoid such a catastrophe he must come across as a miser. Eventually he will prove he is not as
greedy as eh was thought to be. Once this is evident he can protect himself and wage war without
raising taxes and stressing his subjects. Therefore, it is actually better for him to be miserly than
generous. Machiavelli thinks it is better for the prince to be feared than loved. For a prince who is
loved will be compassionate towards others, mainly his soldiers. When danger is at bay his men
will hold him in the highest regard. Should an attack occur they will very quickly turn their
backs on him. He may be viewed as weak and untrustworthy, thus easier to overtake. As he
explains, And men are less hesitant about harming someone who makes himself loved than one
who makes himself feared because love is held together by a chain of obligation which, since
men are a sorry lot, is broken on every occasion in which their own self interest is concerned: but
fear is held together by dread of punishment which will never abandon you (p.46). If he is loved
rather than hated he can never keep an army of soldiers under his command. However, he must
not be so feared to the point he is hated to do so he must not take what does not belong to him,
and keep his hands off the wives of his subjects. According to Machiavelli, as wise Prince will not
keep his word if the circumstances for which he made that promise are no longer relevant.

The Drug For Treating Bacterial Infections
LITERATURE REVIEW ОІ lactam antibiotics have continued to be the most popular drug for
treating bacterial infections since its discovery in 1928 by Fleming and its introduction as an
antibacterial agent in the early 1950.1 Most commonly used ОІ lactam drugs today stems from the
original discovery and development of natural products from microorganisms like penicillin,
cephalosporin and other ОІ lactam based antibiotics (Figure 1). 1,2 However, soon after its
commercialization and widespread usage, ОІ lactamase secreting penicillin resistant strains of
Staphylococcus aureus were isolated.3 The introduction of methicillin (a ОІ lactamase insensitive
semi synthetic penicillin), to curb the resistance problem resulted in the evolution of another
resistant strain known as methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).4 Figure 1: Some ОІ
lactam antibiotics
Resistance to ОІ lactams is easy for bacteria as all ОІ lactams shared the same mode of action,
which is the inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis by forming stable covalent adducts with
the active site serine residues of penicillin binding proteins (PBPs). The PBPS are often divided
into two partitions; the high molecular weight PBPs (HMW PBPs) and the low molecular weight
PBPs (LMW PBPs). The HMW PBPs are further divided in two classes, A and B, while the LMW
PBPs are divided in four subclasses based on their tertiary structures. Figure 2 shows the reactions

Reaction (rate) between magnesium ribbon and hydrochloric...
Aim
It is to tell how the reaction between magnesium and hydrochloric acid will be effected if we
change the concentration of hydrochloric acid.
Introduction
In the experiment the magnesium reacts with the hydrochloric acid to create magnesium chloride
and hydrogen. The balanced formula for this is:
Mg(s) + 2HCL(aq) MgCl2(aq) + H2(g)
Magnesium + hydrochloric acid Magnesium Chloride + Hydrogen
Magnesium will react with hydrochloric acid, because it is higher in the reactivity series than
hydrogen. The magnesium displaces the hydrogen in the acid, so it forms magnesium chloride and
hydrogen gas.
There are many variables that I can change, which are the temperature and concentration of the
hydrochloric acid, and the mass and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The amount of hydrogen I will end up with when the reaction has completely finished will be the
same for all the concentrations, but if a reaction is too slow and exceeds the set time I will stop
taking results and it might not finish reacting.
Preliminary experiment
I was suggested to use 20cm3 of hydrochloric acid and 5cm of cleaned magnesium ribbon, and
take the volume of hydrogen in the syringe every 10 seconds for the preliminary experiment to. I
tried this but the reaction happened very quickly and the results of the volume of hydrogen were
very spread out. The results for each 10 second interval were not accurate enough and there was
not enough magnesium to get a high level of hydrogen. To solve this I increased the amount of
magnesium strip to 8cm, and decreased the time interval to 5 seconds each. I tried this and the
results were much more reliable to use and analyze.
Fair Test
To keep a fair test I will have to look into all the variables surrounding the experiment and only
change the variable that I am testing on. The other variables are the temperature of the acid at the
beginning, the volume of acid, the surface area of the magnesium strip, the length of the
magnesium strip and if the magnesium strip is cleaned or not.
The magnesium strips were cleaned and cut correctly by the lab technician and I measured and
inspected the strip each time I started the experiment to make sure it was ok for the experiment.
Most of these variables

Themes Of All Quiet On The Western Front
All Quiet On The Western Front written by Erich Maria Remarque is a wonderful tale that
expresses the theme of comradeship, dehumanizing effects of war, and the futility of war. All 296
pages are full of twists and turns, lessons to learn, and all the brutality of war. This anti war book
opens your eyes to situations you ve never thought about. It shines a new light on battle that has
never been documented before. All Quiet on the Western Frontis a coming of age book that teaches
you many valuable things.
Remarque s All Quiet On The Western Front had many great lessons, one of the greatest ones was
the theme of comradeship. During his time on the front, Paul and his buddies formed a bond with
each other that could not be broken. This is clear when Paul states that they are the strongest, most
comforting thing there is anywhere: they are the voices of my comrades. (Remarque 212) In this
line, Paul expresses his compassion and respect, he has for his comrades. Paul s thought process
encourages the idea that his friends help him get through each day, That during his hardest times,

Don’t Excessively Drink Energy Drinks, An Outline
Topic: Don t excessively drink energy drinks
Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience energy drinks drunken excessively are bad for your
health
Thesis Statement: Energy drinks contain multiple ingredients that are bad for your health.
I. INTRODUCTION
A. Attention material/Credibility Material: Many people drink energy drinks in order to get them
through the day, thinking that by getting a boost of energy it will help then, but it hurts you more
than you think. How: This year research documented a jump in energy drink related emergency
room visits and politicians and consumers called upon the FDA to look into deaths associated with
energy drinks. The amount of caffeine added to energy drinks is not regulated by the FDA (http:/
/www.cnn.com/2013/02/06/health/time energy drink/)
B. Tie to the audience: Why: one study of college student of consumption found 50% of students
drank at least 1 4 a month, threw my personal experience I drank 1 4 a day.
C. Thesis and Preview: Today I d like to talk to you about first, how energy drinks are bad for you,
second, why it affects you, and finally, what makes them bad for you.
[Transition into body of speech]: I ll begin by telling you about how energy drinks are bad for you.
II. BODY
A.People around the world drink energy drinks on a daily basis not knowing of the ingredients
and how they affect your body. more than 200 milligrams of caffeine can be dangerous, and energy

Energy Positioning Factors For Wireless Sensor Network
A Wireless Sensor Network can be composed of large number of tiny of sensor nodes spread in a
wide area and communicating with each other either directly or through routing mechanisms to the
other nodes. One or more of the nodes are the base station with uninterrupted battery source than
the other nodes. Since the devices in WSN are often tiny devices with small form factor the
computational power of these devices is usually small because there will not support large amount
of hardware. Furthermore as the devices are wireless they need to obtain their energy from an
inbuilt battery which in the end needs to be recharged or replaced. If the battery of a device is
depleted it needs an immediate substitution to function further . Since... Show more content on

5.Sending control packets in large volume need extra energy if packet is too large.
6.Greater processing facility in sensor node consumes more power.
7.Same event may sense more than one node due to overlapping regions of area of coverage.
8.Collision and retransmission [36][37]
There is a number of power reduction practices must be used both in the design of the circuits
and in the design of network protocols approaches . The major step towards reduced power
consumption is a sound electronic design [32],[34] selecting the efficient circuits and applying
suitable design procedure to each case. Sometimes the most important causes of energy depletion
in the WSN node is the idle mode consumption, when the node is not initiate any communication
but listening and waiting for information from other nodes. Energy loss due to packet collision is
also a major issue, causes all data packets involved in the transmission are discarded and must be
retransmitted . Another cause of energy loss is the wrong routing leads to the reception of packets
to non addressed node. Next major source of energy loss is the transmission and possible
retransmission of control packets, as these can be seen as protocol overhead[26]

Atmospheric Oxygen, Giant Paleozoic Insects and the...
Animal gigantism was prevalent during the Carboniferous period of the Paleozoic era. Gigantism in
flying insects occurred in abundance; however, arthropods, such as arthropleurids, also experienced
gigantism. Arthropleurids existed during the Paleozoic era and were the largest land dwelling
arthropods in the history of the Earth. 1m long millipedes are classified as arthropleurids.
Amphibians such as the terrestrial labyrinthodont amphibians also became gigantic during the
Carboniferous period. Large amphibians reached body lengths of up to 2m. However, these
amphibians are limited by respiration through the skin, which is known to restrict maximum body
size. The wingspan of a certain extinct dragon fly exceeded 70cm and the wingspan... Show more

Hyperoxia is used to test for diffusive limitations in respiratory pathways. If high levels of oxygen
does not increase the rate of oxygen use, then non diffusive, convective, or pertusive limits to
aerobic capacities are indicated. Studies of exercising humans show that high levels of oxygen do
increase the maxim rate of oxygen use. However, no exercising amphibians and reptiles have been
studied.
Simulations of amphibian paleophysiology should also consider carbon dioxide interaction with
hyperoxia and hypooxia and its resulting effect on the evolution of vertebrate metabolism. Effects
of hyperoxia on the thermoregulation of vertebrates would be helpful. Various vertebrates have
lower body temperature under lower oxygen levels
Animal flight is particularly fascinating because of the metabolism energy needed to maintain flight
is high. Experiments with animal flight could produce a physiological extreme in regards oxygen
uptake and animal size. Studies of hummingbird hovering ability under low density and low oxygen
levels showed that flight performance was constrained by the amount of oxygen available.
Hummingbirds failed to maintain flight at oxygen levels of 11 14%, which equivalents to the
amount of oxygen present at an elevation of 4000 m. Studies of hummingbird flight in normal
oxygen levels (20.9%) and low density showed that physical and structural constraint, rather than
chemical metabolism, limits flight ability. The

Medicine Is Not Just Been My Career Choice
Half awake, I could still hear the loud agonizing cries. I grabbed my mini stethoscope and
hurried downstairs to observe an impressive array of tasks to save lives. Though, I was a child, it
was not the first time I had seen a critical patient with a busy medical crew around. I grew up in a
hospital where both my parents worked full time. Gradually I started imbibing the quintessential
values of a medical career to the point when helping others was no longer an act, but a way of
living life. This is why I believe, medicinehas not just been my career choice but a personal journey
of self discovery and human revelation.
In 2004, I donated all my savings to the Tsunami relief fund, which sowed the seeds for the growth
of the person I had chosen to become. Since then, years of experience as a president and a member
of various Non governmental organizations (NGO) including the American Red Cross Society has
inculcated in me the compassion and leadership qualities.
During my medical school, attending several enlightening workshops on Art of living and
meditation, assimilated in me higher moral values and an inner code of conduct. While, the
hardships of staying away from home at a boarding school with acute shortage of basic amenities
were testing me, I maintained a rank in top few students throughout my medical school. Teaching
health issues and nutritional requirements to primary school teachers and in Primary Health

Star Appliance Case Study
Situation:
Star Appliance is looking to expand their product line and is considering three different projects:
dishwashers, garbage disposals, and trash compactors. We want to determine which project would
be worth doing by determining if they will add value to Star. Thus, the project(s) that will add the
most value to Star Appliance will be worth pursuing. The current hurdle rate of 10% should be re
evaluated by finding the weighted average cost of capital (WACC). Then by forecasting the cash
flows of each project and discounting them by the WACC to find the net present value, or by solving
for the internal rate of return, we should be able to see which projects Star should undertake.
Conclusion:

Star s returns were found by multiplying the EPS times the P/E ratio to get the year s stock
price. I then found the change in the price each year, which is the capital gain yield (CGY).
Adding this, the CGY, to the dividend yield (also listed in exhibit 6) gave Star s returns. The
results of the regression were a best fit line with a slope of 0.831, which equals beta. Using
exhibit 5, I averaged the 10 and 20 year T bill rates to get Rf for 15 years of 10.7%. I used the
given 6.0% percent as the market premium. Putting all of these values into the CAPM equation
gave a return on equity of 15.69%. Optimal Capital Structure
WACC = (D/D+E)(Rd)(1 t) + (E/D+E)(Re) Even though Star originally has a debt free capital
structure, there is an optimal capital structure that includes debt, which is usually a cheaper
source of financing. To find the weighted average cost of capital, I first calculated the cost of debt
using the spread between bond debt ratings (what was the spread?). I added the spread to the risk
free rate of 10.7% used earlier as Rd , then multiplied this value by (1 tax rate) to find the cost of
debt. Next, I had to find a beta for the levered Star by using the equation BL=BU(1+(1 t)(D/E)). I
determined the debt/equity ratio by solving (D/D+E) =((D/D+E) 1)^ 1. Now I used the CAPM
again to solve for Re of the levered firm for different proportions of debt. Finally, the WACC was
found by multiplying the cost of

Summary Of Edward Morgan Forster sThe Machine Stops
As our society continues to develop, the advanced technology has changed people s lives in many
respects. When people enjoy the convenience of using touchpad during class, contacting a person
who lives a thousand miles away via FaceTime, and storing live data in the online cloud, there will
be a long term and serious consequences resulting from overuse of technology. About a century ago,
Edward Morgan Forster, in his short novel The Machine Stops, has already accurately predicted
humans future through presenting an image of how human s exponentially increasing dependence
on technology makes them weak, and ultimately decease. The story happens in the future where
human beings who has lost their ability to live on the surface of earth live in a subterranean cell,
with all physical, intellectual, and spiritual needs met by the Machine. With the Machine, people
believe they live in a perfect world. All of the people believe they live in a perfect world, except
Kuno, who finds the flaw that can destroy the society. Kuno s concern is treated as madness by his
mother Vashti. Forster s theme concerns envisioning the earth in the future when the use of
technology is at its climax and every sphere of life is dependent on it. He exploits his idea by
illustrating that the development of the sophisticated technology will ultimately control human
beings and annihilate their ability to think critically and live independently, making them treat the
Machine like a god. Therefore, through

Big Fish Quotes
Big Fish produced by Tim Burton consist of much spiritual significance. For example, one might
think the fish was a symbol of Christianity, because of the Jesus fish that we often see on bumper
stickers, but there is one true spiritual significance. The one true spiritual significance that sticks
out the most is the Christ like figure. Edward Bloom, the main character represents the Christ like
figure in this film. Like Jesus, Edward Bloom is a storyteller who tells the stories of his father.
Storytelling is a strong trait that is used in every conversation today. In the film, a quote says A

The Washington Monument is one of the most important monuments because it s a monument for

Unfortunately, we did not listen and here we are voting every 4 or 8 years for a new president! I

amazing to see that the monument was in 2 different colors! This is because the National
Washington Monument Society did not have enough money to complete the monument (National

Envision this: a room, overflowing with intense emotions and a mother, laboring a child for endless
hours. Finally, the newborn emerges into the world, taking its first, fresh breath of air; then,
suddenly, a screeching scream like no other proliferates throughout the room. The infant finds its
voice for the first time. But, the ability to speak ceases to begin with one s first resonance; rather, it
commences when we find our true selves influenced by inevitable circumstances and situations,
where one s voice truly shines forth. By exemplifying the harsh reality and stereotypical gender

The femoral neck or intracapsular fracture occurs when the neck of the femur breaks and sometimes
the ball may move out of it s place. This type of fracture happens more likely with athletes and
performers. Over years there have been several methods orthopedists have used to fix femoral neck
fractures. In 1931, Smith Petersen used internal fixation by reducing pain and pressure to the
fractured parts followed by immobilization in a spica cast application. Until 1970 another widely
spread method called the multiple pin fixation technique was introduced by another orthopedist. In
this method the fracture fragments would heal with the insertion of Pugh nails and Richards
screws. Both of these methods include a sliding fixation process where the fractured fragments rub
against each other. The second type of hip fracture which is repaired more frequently is
intertrochanteric hip fracture. The intertrochanteric hip fracture occurs slightly below the neck of
the femur and the lesser trochanter. These fractures undergo a treatment that involves the insertion
of AO proximal femoral or sliding plates, intramedullary nails, cannulated or dynamic hip screws,
and/or rods to balance and protect the fractures. After the surgery, surgeries suggest that the patients
stay in bed to make sure the fracture does not occur again. The third type of hip fracture is
subtrochanteric fracture. The

The Watergate Scandal and crisis that rocked the United States began on the early morning of June

President Richard Milhous Nixon. At approximately 2:30 in the morning of June 17, 1972, five
burglars were discovered inside the Democratic National Headquarters in the Watergate office
building in Washington DC. The burglars, who had been attempting to tap the headquarters phone
were linked to Nixon s Committee to Re Elect the President (CREEP). Over the next few months,

The White House rationalized any illegal actions by the Plumbers as protecting national security.
However, the motivating factor for these illegal actions was actually to protect Nixon s public image
as well as his political survival.
In 1972, the Committee to Re Elect the President was formed and Jeb Stuart Magruder became
the Director. In December of 1972, Nixon appointed G. Gordon Liddy as general counsel to
CREEP. The Committee played dirty tricks on Nixon s opponents and in one instance, single
handedly ruined the Democratic frontrunner Edmund Muskie s presidential campaign by making
damaging charges again Muskie and his wife in 1971. (Bernstein and Woodward 114) Liddy
was behind most of CREEP s political tricks and illegal activities and in 1972 he proposed a huge
intelligence operation against the Democrats, illegally funded by CREEP s campaign funds. This
operation included plans for a small scale burglary of the Democratic National Headquarters,
located in the Watergate office complex. Magruder, who had been given the authority by John
Mitchell, reluctantly gave Liddy the approval to perform the break in. (Westerfeld 35)
On June 17, 1972, five burglars under the orders of CREEP broke into the Democratic National
Headquarters. At about 2:30 a.m., security guard Frank Willis noticed tape over locks of the doors
and called the police. The five burglars were arrested,

Implementing Mandatory Council Meeting Of All Plc Teams
One thing that is a for certain in education is changes will take place. Education mirrors the world
we live in, and that is, change is inevitable. However, this process is not always accepted by the
entire staff of a school and may be found burdensome to others. As a teacher leader, when certain
changes in the schooltake place regarding a rule, the entire staff needs to come together to ensure
the rule is being implemented and enforced. One such change that is happening at my school is the
once a week mandatory meeting of all PLC teams. The decision to implement mandatory PLC
meetings did not go over well with all teachers. When a school makes a rule or policy change, there
are parts of the organization, such as the political, human resource, and cultural perspective that feel
the effect. I am part of a vast school district in Texas. I understand that this rule change about PLC
meetings came from school leaders that are higher up in the organizational structure, and moved
down the chain of command from the principals to the teachers. Understanding the structure of an
organization is critical for the organization to move forward (Laureate Education, Inc., 2007). My
district believes and supports the different PLC teams in the school district. At the start of this year,
the entire staff was told by the principal that all PLC teams need to meet once a week, and all
minutes of the meeting need to be documented and emailed to administration. In my opinion, I

Importance Of Classroom Behavior Procedures And Practices...
Public schools should be aimed to provide instructional programs that nurture the educational
victories of all students and shape people who can give in positive ways back towards the society. If
all schools work hard to promote successful school experiences for students with emotional
behavior disorders (EBD), the challenging task of nurturing these students becomes less stressful
with the implementation of several cohesive programs that effectively meet the multiple needs of
these students. This paper was written on the belief that with the implementation of researched
based behaviormethods that help to correct the behavior of EBD students, will result in long term
positive results.
Part One: Classroom Behavior Procedures and Practices for EBD students
Classroom teachers can use the same corrective practices to diminish the disruptive behavior of
students with disabilities that they use to manage the behavior of students without disabilities.
Most of the undesirable behavior displayed by both groups is similar. The differences,
nevertheless, may originate in the teacher s selection of the precise behavioral involvement. Many
educators may use a point or level systems as a means of regulating the behaviors of all students
within the classroom. These type of systems are often used by teachers to control and influence the
desired behavior from all students and has both advantages and disadvantages.
Because EBD students are more resistant than most when in a new setting,

Having compared the differences, it is still worth noting that Markowitz did not rule out
fundamental analysis in portfolio selection process, as is said in his foregoing paper,(Markowitz,
1952) the process of selecting a portfolio may be divided into two stages.
The first stage starts with observation and experience and ends with beliefs about the future
performances of available securities. The second stage starts with relevant beliefs about future
performances and ends with the choice of portfolio. This paper is concerned with the second stage .
Part 2 Efficient Market Hypothesis
The strong form of efficient market hypothesis states that all information, no matter public or
private, instantaneously affects current stock price. Semi strong form is only concerned with public
information, while the weak form suggests that current stock price reflects information in the
previous prices. In short, they simply imply that in the long run, no one should be able to beat the
market in terms of investment return.
As is said in Fama s paper in 1970, (Eugene F, 1970) the evidence in support of the efficient
markets model is extensive, and (somewhat uniquely in economics) contradictory evidence is
sparse . However, Warren Buffet has always criticised efficient market hypothesis as much as he
could. The major

Lithium Ion Batteries Are Made From Lithium
Lithium ion batteries are made from lithium; hence the name. Since lithium is an unstable metal,
lithium ions must be made through chemicals. Lithium is used because it is the lightest metal with
the highest electrochemical potential. Inside these batteries are a positive electrode called the
cathode, an anodeor the negative electrodeand lithium ions. Theses lithium ions move from the
negative electrode to the positive when it s being used and vice versa when it s being charged.
For the electrodes not to be combined, there is a separator in between the negative and positive
electrodes. Another type of battery is a alkaline batteries, which is made out zinc and manganese
dioxide. Alkaline batteries works like other batteries. There is a negative electrode, zinc powder,
a positive electrode, manganese dioxide, an electrolyte, potassium hydroxide, a separator, and a
brass pin. Once the electrolytes are added, a chemical reaction happens when the manganese
dioxide oxidizes and allows the zinc and manganese dioxide to combine to form electricity in the
battery. Zinc carbon batteries is another type of battery that is made of carbon and zinc. This
battery works when the carbon rod, cathode, in the center collects electrons from the anode, shell of
the battery that consists of zinc chloride, part of the battery, which creates a circuit. An electrolyte
paste made from ammonium chloride surrounds a piece a paper that keeps the electrons moving
and causes the battery to produce

Examples Of Betrayal In The Kite Runner
There are many different views about the concept of betrayal. Betrayal is described by World
Book Online as a . . . violation of trust or confidence. Furthermore, there are different ways to be
betrayed or to betray someone. Common examples of betrayal include adultery, mutiny, and
stealing from a trusting friend. Betrayal also has an emotional effect on individuals. Being
betrayed by an individual will induce the feelings of being . . . taken advantage of, deceived,
humiliated, despised, cheated, or stabbed in the back (Krystal Kuehn). The novel The Kite Runner
is a story about an Afghan named Amir who experiences and causes betrayals between friends and
family. Throughout the novel The Kite Runner, Khaled Hosseiniaddresses the different concepts of
betrayal through the characters of Amir, Hassan, and Sohrab. Sohrab is the son of Hassan and
is moved to an orphanage after his parents death. While in the orphanage, Sohrab is betrayed by
the orphanage director because the director gives Sohrab to the Taliban for money. Amir and
Farid enter the orphanage asking where Sohrab is. The orphanage director tells them that a

take a girl. But not always (Hosseini 256) implying that he gave Sohrab away. This event scars
Sohrab and he becomes fearful of all orphanages because of the abusive experiences he had as a
result of his previous orphanage. In the novel, Sohrab tells Amir that he is glad that his parents
are not with him because he feels dirty and sinful about what the . . . bad man and the other two
. . . did to him (Hosseini 320). After Sohrab s experience with both the orphanage and the
Taliban, he begins to open up and become friends with Amir. As Sohrab starts to trust Amir,
Amir makes a promise with Sohrab saying that he will never send him to an orphanage. During
the process of adopting Sohrab, Amir realizes that the only way to adopt Sohrab is to send him

Character Analysis Of Maria Teresa In The Time Of The...
From weak willed to brave: The character development of Maria Teresa In her novel, In the
Time of the Butterflies, Julia Alvarez unfolds a dramatic character transformation of the Mirabal
sister, Maria Teresa. She is detailed to be a very thoughtful character who always seem to look
out for others, especially those important to her in life. Alvarez induces this empowering
development of Maria Teresa through the usage of diction, point of view and selection of detail.
As the novel began, Maria Teresa was merely a child and she was seen as a very sweet character.
However, the revolution turned things around for her whole family. She longer perceived certain
things as positively as she would have just a few years back. She believed that the sun was shining

Therefore meaning that the reader is able to connect with the character on a much deeper level
and be able have empathetic experiences. When Maria Teresa expresses that she had never
known such terror...chest was so tight...could barely breathe (Page 254) the reader is saddened
to know the traumatic physical pain the character had to go through, and that s not even taking
into account the dreadful emotional distress. Maria Teresa can be admittedly be described as a
weak person because she could not handle the horrible conditions the guards were putting her
through. On top of that, she mentions that the pain felt like her spirit [was] snapping loose,
soaring above [her] body and looking down at the scene (Page 255). The fact that she bring up
the actions of things snapping loose and the act of looking down emphasizes how broken Maria
Teresa feels. The snapping could be a reference to her sanity and peace breaking away little by
little. And the act of looking down is usually a sign of shame, it could be a sign that Maria Teresa
looks down upon herself and dislikes what she has become, an extremely fragile human

The Effects Of Drinking Water On The Water
Have you ever wondered if our drinking water is actually safe to drink? The topic of safe drinking
water according to my research isn t a topic that it s given that much attention even though there
have been events and statistics that have impacted our drinking water. There have been important
events such as the chemical spill in Charleston, West Virginia and the ash sludge in Kingston
Tennessee in 2008, these kind of events even though they have happen a few years ago still have
an impact on our drinking watertoday. Lauren Russell is an important person because she stated
that climate change is another factor that can affect our drinking water because it can impact the
quality of the water since climate change is a main world problem it affects everyone s drinking
water. Another big factor of drinking water is what kind of chemicals are in our water that
makes it safe for us to drink? I feel like people and I should be informed of the risks that human
and natural disasters can do to our sites that we get our drinking water from. And we should also
be inform if the chemicals that they put in our drinking water are one hundred percent safe. The
reason why I chose this topic is because water is a necessity for every human so if we all get
informed about this topic we can enforce better laws that can ensure us the best water quality for us
to drink.
People should know the background events of human and natural disasters that have affected our
drinking water and even if it

acquired the beer business of FEMSA in 2010. As in 2013, Anheuser Busch InBev one of the
market leaders acquired Grupo Modelo, Mexican brewer. In the following year 2014, Anheuser
Busch InBev reacquire Oriental Brewery, South Korea brewer. (Sharon Bailey) The acquisitions
combined their market share and currently owns 41.2 percent of the US market.(Statista)

five years, with a total of $39.5 billion . (IBISWorld iExpert) In the long term, these numbers are
expected that grow 0.9 percent annually within the next five years. The potential growth will be
seen in the traditional and premium beer sector. As a response, the giant companies in the industry

to maintain market dominance. The strategy is based on the

History Of South Carolina State University
Students in high school have a very difficult time depicting the college or university of their choice
whether there are going to attend a Historical Black College or University, Predominantly White
School? As a future educator, I made a commendable choice to attend an HBCU because they are
still needed today for successful individuals. Although some African Americans forget the journey
that our ancestors had to go through so we as African American can have a better educationfrom an
accredited collegeor university. During the time period of slavery many African Americans could
not attend a PWI school because the color of their skin. In addition, that why I think HBCU s are
still needed today. Also many HBCU s have very strong history behind their schools. South
Carolina State University is a very distinguished supportive and studious HBCU, no matter how
the media may criticize this college there are still lessons being taught day to day lives. South
Carolina State University was found in 1896 as a state sole public college for black youth it also

Character Analysis Of Victor In The 1998 Native American...
Victor in the 1998 Native American film Smoke Signals , was a major and dynamic character. The
entire film revolved around Victor and the past and present relationship with his father. Victor
helped develop the theme of the story which was to forgive others. Victor changing from an angry
Native American teen, to a happy and forgiving young man, was a huge and dynamic character
change. A dynamic character is character who goes through an important inner change in their
personality or attitude. Tomas, a lifelong friend of Victor s, was a character who didn t change
and never really needed to change. Tomas was a happy, Native teen who found the good n

The two met after Victor s father left Coeur D Alene Indian Reservation. They lived in the same
trailer park and Suzy was quite fond of Victor s father. Suzy also saw the good in Victor s father
and this infuriated Victor. Victor saw his father as a drunk who abandoned his family. Suzy told
Victor stories of his father that guided him to see the good in his father and start to forgive. Victor
is very well rounded character throughout the story. Victor was very kind to his mother. He knew
that she wanted the best for him, and Victor felt bad that she had to go through the same situation
with his father. This was the good side of Victor, it showed the caring and kind young man that he
could be. Victor was not very kind to Tomas. Tomas was an awkward teen that just wanted to be
friends with Victor. Victor thought Tomas was annoying and childish. Victor even told Tomas as a
young child, What color were your parents when they were burned? (Smoke). This showed the
angry and unpleasant side of Victor. Victor was also confused. This was shown when he ran as a
child and as a teenager. Victor would run miles with no destination in

  • 4. Molecular and Cellular Behavior Signal transduction pathways link signal reception with cellular response Signal transduction pathways regulate what occurs in, between, and amid individual cells. They are incredibly crucial because they initiate large responses beginning with a single signal. These chemical signals are called ligands that enter the cell either through active or passive transport. If the ligand is small and nonpolar (such as nitric oxide, oxygen gas, and carbon dioxide), then it will simply diffuse through the cell membrane and will attach to an intracellular receptor. However, if the ligand does not fit into this category it will attach to a membrane receptor. These ligands are specific to each receptor. This ensures that no ligand will bind to an incorrect receptor. Once a receptor is bound, a signal is transduced in a way that the cell can acknowledge it. Signal transduction pathways will fundamentally affect gene expression, change enzyme or protein activity, and possibly cell death. Membrane Receptors Membrane receptors span the membrane of the cell. Since hydrophilic molecules cannot simply diffuse through the cells to send a signal to the cell, they must attach to these receptors to be able to send a signal inside the cell. Ligand Gated Ion channel receptor Specific signal molecules open and close ion channel receptors that permit the passing of ions in and out of the cell. These ions include Na+, K+, Ca2+, or Cl , necessary for sending chemical signals. G protein coupled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Dispute Between Sparta And The Athenian strategically important colony of Corinth. Fighting ensued, and the Athenians then took steps that explicitly violated the Thirty Years Treaty. Sparta and its allies accused Athens of aggression and threatened war. On the advice of Pericles, its most influential leader, Athens refused to back down. Diplomatic efforts to resolve the dispute failed. Finally, in the spring of 431, a Spartan ally, Thebes, attacked an Athenian ally, Plataea, and open war began. The years of fighting that followed can be divided into two periods, separated by a truce of six years. The first period lasted 10 years and began with the Spartans, under Archidamus II, leading an army into Attica, the region around Athens. Periclesdeclined to engage the superior allied ... We import CCTV cameras and other comparable surveillance products from manufactures in China and sell them to the installers here in US. We are a relative small company with around thirty sales representatives, twelve warehouse workers, ten surveillance engineers and a four people analytics team. Compare to our major competitors like ADI (leading supplier in industry), we are still very young. In such an industry that many similar companies offering similar products and use comparable tech, unique geographical advantage no longer matter in competition. What s left for us is to execute the business with maximum efficiency and effectiveness and to make the smartest decisions possible. According to the theory of Jim Riley, Value chainanalysis describes the activities that take place in a business and relates them to an analysis of the competitive strength of the business. Influential work by Michael Porter suggested that the activities of a business couold be grouped under two headings: Primary and Support activities. Based on the Porter s Generic Value Chain, the procedure from inbound logisticsto operations, then to outbound logistics, and then marketing and sales, and services at last are coordinating functioning in company s daily operation and management. • 7. My Experience At Summer Camp You and your sister are soooooo different, my friend, who I had met at summer camp a couple years before, informed me as we stood beneath the blistering sun, our necks slicked with sweat and our throats parched. Approximately two second before Julia spoke those words, my sister had attempted to do a cartwheel in front of the whole camp, failed miserably, and screamed out in amusement. The episode was followed first by a simultaneous gasp from the mouths of 200 campers, in fear of her injury, and then a fit of booming laughter when she stuck up her thumb and smiled. While everyone stood around watching her, I pouted on the sidelines of the common field and shook my head in shame. Of course I wanted to be in on the fun, laughing and jumping and doing gymnastics with the rest of West Mountain Camp s population. But instead, I felt forced into a reputation created for me so many years ago as the quiet, calm and mature twin sister of the rambunctious and outgoing Chloe Blumberg. Always sitting on the sidelines, reading my books, doling out my wise words and keeping my sister in check. The funny thing is, I can t remember it ever being different. I was always told by my mom, dad and grandparents that I was the quiet and mature one of the duo, and that I didn t need to get attention in the way Chloe always did because my intelligence was enough to give me the recognition I needed. Louie, answer me. What? he barked as he finally turned towards her. As he loomed over her, standing at the foot of their bed, buried in his cellphone, she got her first good look at him for the day. She took in his ragged demeanor; his dirty worn out clothes too large for his scrawny frame. Through a tear in his pants she could see a cut on his leg, no doubt attained by begging on the streets of St. Louis. She never saw him do it anymore but there was no doubt in her mind that he had kept that habit, among others. His disheveled black hair was covered by a grimy nondescript... • 9. The New York Times Coverage Of The Holocaust This research topic was on the New York Times coverage of the Holocaust. When first starting this report the idea of how the Holocaust was treated in the United States never truly came to mind. After doing a research project on it, the things that came up was some unbelievable stuff. The American reporting on the Holocaust was absolutely atrocious, in one of the biggest genocides in all of history, almost half of the American people didn t even know about the Holocaust and still to this day most people don t know much about it; One of the biggest newspapers out at this time failed in getting important information out to the American people, and the sad part about it all is that not only did the newspaper know about it, but the President of the United States as well. Unpublished Information The New York Times had all the information on what was happening in Europe, however even though the editors knew the information just DIMINISHED. The thing I truly never understood is that, why would reporters have information and never publish what they truly could. Its essence became knowable very fast, from Nazi threats and undisputed eyewitness reports collected by Americans agents (Gonchar). The original sin of neglecting the Holocaust and the current trend that has seen unprecedented coverage of alleged genocides may very well be linked, (Kersten). The New York Times, the nation s leading newspaper, didn t report on the full effect of the killing of the Jews. ( The United ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Morality And The Origins Of Morality Most of the times Nietzsche understands morality as the set of values typical of the European society of his days. In this sense, it is safe to say that Nietzsche opposes morality and that genealogy serves the ultimate goal of undermining it. However, it is legitimate to envision for genealogy a scope for application which goes beyond the particular moralityof 19th century Germans. Accordingly, my claim is that in Nietzsche European morality represents just one possible form of morality. Nietzsche himself seems to claim that he is focusing his attacks only on a specific instance of morality one among possible others. So for example, in the preface to On the Genealogy of Morals he claims that the object of the book is the value of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2 Morals are therefore normative codes according to which we orientate ourselves in the context of different spheres of life. Assuming that Schacht s interpretation is correct, I believe that his analysis bear strong similarities with the view of morality I adopted in the first chapter. On one hand, Schacht s talk of spheres of life leads to transcend our often restricted understanding of morality as including simply the realm of ethical rights and duties, or as being focused on explaining why and how we should act in order to live morally. In Schacht s sense, morality rather seems to include the mores of the Latin or the ethoi of the Greek. In other words, our family of norms is the set of values we live by in all the different situations we come across in our existence, including many areas of life that the restricted understanding of morality would not consider as relevant. Furthermore, to understand these mores/ethoi as moral standards or imperatives to which we have to conform is to understand only a side aspect of them. In fact, more than simply being moral rules directing our behaviour, these customs constitute our un reflected habits that is, the way in which we automatically express ourselves in a particular context , often being normative on a very unconscious level. • 13. Egoism And Moral Skepticism By James Rachels James Rachels introduces in his written works, Egoism and Moral Skepticism, two different theories of human nature: psychological egoism and ethical egoism. The theory of psychological egoism refers to the view that all human actions are self centered. On the other hand, the theory of ethical egoism is the idea that we are not obligated to do anything other than what is in our interest. Most individuals would consistently believe in ethical egoismbecause most generally care about the well being of others. The scenario states that there is an outbreak of a deadly disease in the remote area where a colleague and I are spending our month long business trip, working with two other people from the local village. A viral of vaccine was dropped off by officials from the government s disease control agency, but it is only enough to completely ensure two people and 99% chance if it was equally distributed. My colleague and I are given the opportunity to keep the vaccine to ourselves without the others knowing. My colleague, who is an ethical egoist, tells me that we should not share because there is no reason for us to help the others and put our lives at risk for not taking the full amount of vaccine. For the sake of the vaccine and the argument, I will accept my colleague s ethical theory and based on his views, I will convince him to share with the others. Normally the patients with Atrial Septal Defect remain asymptomatic up to third or fourth decade of life and in the middle age some clinical symptoms can be observed. Doppler imaging and echo PIV cannot measure the velocity in a direction perpendicular to the beam, but Vector Flow Mapping (VFM) allows the calculation of velocities perpendicular to the direction of the beam without angle dependency with the use of the continuity equation and speckle tracking echocardiography[14]. This energy loss is assumed to become a new indicator of cardiac function[15]. So, it is considered an effective index to monitor the blood flow efficiency within the heart chambers under various pathological conditions. Blood is viscous in nature and generates frictional heat due to viscosity at the site where turbulent flows occur[16]. In case of Atrial Septal Defect blood flows through the hole across the atrial chambers and creates a turbulence in the atrial as well as ventricle chambers during early diastole, ventricular systole and atrial contraction, which probably ensue an increased intra cardiac Energy Loss. Therefore, the aim of this study was to use the new technique of Vector Flow Mapping (VFM) to measure the reference values of intra cardiac energy loss in ASD patients pre and post occlusion ... If he is loved rather than hated he can never keep an army of soldiers under his command. However, he must not be so feared to the point he is hated to do so he must not take what does not belong to him, and keep his hands off the wives of his subjects. • 19. The Drug For Treating Bacterial Infections LITERATURE REVIEW ОІ lactam antibiotics have continued to be the most popular drug for treating bacterial infections since its discovery in 1928 by Fleming and its introduction as an antibacterial agent in the early 1950.1 Most commonly used ОІ lactam drugs today stems from the original discovery and development of natural products from microorganisms like penicillin, cephalosporin and other ОІ lactam based antibiotics (Figure 1). 1,2 However, soon after its commercialization and widespread usage, ОІ lactamase secreting penicillin resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus were isolated.3 The introduction of methicillin (a ОІ lactamase insensitive semi synthetic penicillin), to curb the resistance problem resulted in the evolution of another resistant strain known as methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).4 Figure 1: Some ОІ lactam antibiotics Resistance to ОІ lactams is easy for bacteria as all ОІ lactams shared the same mode of action, which is the inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis by forming stable covalent adducts with the active site serine residues of penicillin binding proteins (PBPs). The PBPS are often divided into two partitions; the high molecular weight PBPs (HMW PBPs) and the low molecular weight PBPs (LMW PBPs). The HMW PBPs are further divided in two classes, A and B, while the LMW PBPs are divided in four subclasses based on their tertiary structures. • 20. Reaction (rate) between magnesium ribbon and hydrochloric... Aim It is to tell how the reaction between magnesium and hydrochloric acid will be effected if we change the concentration of hydrochloric acid. Introduction In the experiment the magnesium reacts with the hydrochloric acid to create magnesium chloride and hydrogen. The balanced formula for this is: Mg(s) + 2HCL(aq) MgCl2(aq) + H2(g) Magnesium + hydrochloric acid Magnesium Chloride + Hydrogen Magnesium will react with hydrochloric acid, because it is higher in the reactivity series than hydrogen. The magnesium displaces the hydrogen in the acid, so it forms magnesium chloride and hydrogen gas. There are many variables that I can change, which are the temperature and concentration of the hydrochloric acid, and the mass and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The amount of hydrogen I will end up with when the reaction has completely finished will be the same for all the concentrations, but if a reaction is too slow and exceeds the set time I will stop taking results and it might not finish reacting. Preliminary experiment I was suggested to use 20cm3 of hydrochloric acid and 5cm of cleaned magnesium ribbon, and take the volume of hydrogen in the syringe every 10 seconds for the preliminary experiment to. I tried this but the reaction happened very quickly and the results of the volume of hydrogen were very spread out. The results for each 10 second interval were not accurate enough and there was not enough magnesium to get a high level of hydrogen. To solve this I increased the amount of magnesium strip to 8cm, and decreased the time interval to 5 seconds each. I tried this and the results were much more reliable to use and analyze. Fair Test To keep a fair test I will have to look into all the variables surrounding the experiment and only change the variable that I am testing on. The other variables are the temperature of the acid at the beginning, the volume of acid, the surface area of the magnesium strip, the length of the magnesium strip and if the magnesium strip is cleaned or not.

All 296 pages are full of twists and turns, lessons to learn, and all the brutality of war. This anti war book opens your eyes to situations you ve never thought about. It shines a new light on battle that has never been documented before. All Quiet on the Western Frontis a coming of age book that teaches you many valuable things. Remarque s All Quiet On The Western Front had many great lessons, one of the greatest ones was the theme of comradeship. During his time on the front, Paul and his buddies formed a bond with each other that could not be broken. This is clear when Paul states that they are the strongest, most comforting thing there is anywhere: they are the voices of my comrades. (Remarque 212) In this line, Paul expresses his compassion and respect, he has for his comrades. Paul s thought process encourages the idea that his friends help him get through each day, That during his hardest times, his friends voices help him push through it. When Paul was going through an internal battle, his comrades talked to him and helped him work it out. For example, when Paul finally lets his frustrations out to his friends he listens to them and feels comforted, reassured by their presence. Energy Positioning Factors For Wireless Sensor Network A Wireless Sensor Network can be composed of large number of tiny of sensor nodes spread in a wide area and communicating with each other either directly or through routing mechanisms to the other nodes. One or more of the nodes are the base station with uninterrupted battery source than the other nodes. Since the devices in WSN are often tiny devices with small form factor the computational power of these devices is usually small because there will not support large amount of hardware. Furthermore as the devices are wireless they need to obtain their energy from an inbuilt battery which in the end needs to be recharged or replaced. Sometimes the most important causes of energy depletion in the WSN node is the idle mode consumption, when the node is not initiate any communication but listening and waiting for information from other nodes. Energy loss due to packet collision is also a major issue, causes all data packets involved in the transmission are discarded and must be retransmitted . Another cause of energy loss is the wrong routing leads to the reception of packets to non addressed node. I then found the change in the price each year, which is the capital gain yield (CGY). Adding this, the CGY, to the dividend yield (also listed in exhibit 6) gave Star s returns. The results of the regression were a best fit line with a slope of 0.831, which equals beta. Using exhibit 5, I averaged the 10 and 20 year T bill rates to get Rf for 15 years of 10.7%. Optimal Capital Structure WACC = (D/D+E)(Rd)(1 t) + (E/D+E)(Re) Even though Star originally has a debt free capital structure, there is an optimal capital structure that includes debt, which is usually a cheaper source of financing. To find the weighted average cost of capital, I first calculated the cost of debt using the spread between bond debt ratings (what was the spread?). When people enjoy the convenience of using touchpad during class, contacting a person who lives a thousand miles away via FaceTime, and storing live data in the online cloud, there will be a long term and serious consequences resulting from overuse of technology. About a century ago, Edward Morgan Forster, in his short novel The Machine Stops, has already accurately predicted humans future through presenting an image of how human s exponentially increasing dependence on technology makes them weak, and ultimately decease. The story happens in the future where human beings who has lost their ability to live on the surface of earth live in a subterranean cell, with all physical, intellectual, and spiritual needs met by the Machine. With the Machine, people believe they live in a perfect world. All of the people believe they live in a perfect world, except Kuno, who finds the flaw that can destroy the society. Kuno s concern is treated as madness by his mother Vashti. Forster s theme concerns envisioning the earth in the future when the use of technology is at its climax and every sphere of life is dependent on it. He exploits his idea by illustrating that the development of the sophisticated technology will ultimately control human beings and annihilate their ability to think critically and live independently, making them treat the Machine like a god.
