Animal Cruelty In Perdue Farms
Throughout the Perdue farms across the country, there has been evidence of overcrowding and
unethical treatment to the chickens kept in the barns. This past December, footage of workers
stomping on the necks of chickens in a North Carolina Perdue chicken farm was released by Mercy
for Animals, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing animal cruelty in the food industry (
Watch ). With the introduction of this video, the organization stated that the only direct solution to this
problem is to become vegetarian, but I refuse to believe that that is the only option. I am personally
concerned with what foods and chemicals I am putting into my body, and it makes me uncomfortable
knowing that I am consuming chicken that has been covered in ... Show more content on

According to Farm Sanctuary, the chickens, and the large barns they are raised in, are covered in
feces. Even under these conditions, Perdue still believes they are healthy enough for human
consumption ( Factory Farming ). Over the years, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)
has travelled around the country to protest with other disgruntled Perdue employees. During one of
their protests at the Perdue slaughterhouse in Salisbury, Maryland, Ingrid E. Newkirk, PETA president,
came across chickens dying from heatstroke in exposed crates. After further investigation, she found
that if the chickens can t handle the unethical conditions created by the employees and are dead,
dying, diseased, or disabled, they will be thrown like lifeless beings into bins labelled 4D ( Frank
Perdue s Legacy ). The awful fact of the matter is that most of the chickens are disabled as the
majority of them suffer from broken bones. This occurs because of the rapid breast growth the
company sets as standards for production. The number of hormones and antibiotics that the company
infuses into the chickens makes them grow at abnormally fast rates. The normal chicken s life span is
about ten to fifteen years ( Frank Perdue s Legacy ). Perdue typically slaughters its chickens once they
reach the age of two months. At this age, their breast size is approximately the same as a ten year old

More Severe Child Discipline
Child discipline has been a heated topic of debate in recent years. Many older people in past
generations support more severe child discipline, citing that it teaches kids proper behavior better than
more modern teaching styles. However, younger parents and experts are saying that severe child
discipline can have long lasting negative effects. The issue of child abuse has been brought up many
times in these arguments. There is a fine line between an acceptable spanking and child abuse.
Corporal punishment may be thought of as, the good old days, by many adults, but kids today measure
up, and might even surpass what kids used to be like. Corporal punishment may be favored at home or
might be thought of as a good tool to teach children respect. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Parents may think that they grew up smart and mature because of corporal punishment and that kids
today do not know respect because of the lack of this type of punishment. However, studies have
shown that child behavior is actually on the rise; kids are behaving better than they ever have.
Anything from teen pregnancy to bullying are all on the decline. There are less children going to juvy,
teen pregnancy has been cut in half, and reported bullying is at an all time low (Rettew). Substance
use is also on the decline. Fewer and fewer kids are getting involved in smoking and drinking while
underage. The only drug that seems to be an exception is cannabis, which has remained stable in use
for the past 20 or more years

The Black Woman In The Painting
I had the opportunity to customize the painting to make HER look more like myself. And, I considered
it. I thought, I d have to change HER skin tone to a much lighter shade of brown. I d have to straighten
HER hair and take out the beautiful bounce of HER curls. I would be changing HER entire look. I
wasn t feelin it. The Black woman in the painting was already so beautiful the way she was and I just
didn t feel moved to change HER. Actually, I related to HER in a very intimate way. I already knew it
wasn t the way she looked that I saw in myself. So I couldn t figure out what it was about HER that I
related to. I mean after all, it s just a painting, I don t actually know HER, Right?
Wrong, I do know HER. She is a part of me. She is an extension of me. She is SOLANA NADINE. It
hit me! The woman in the painting looks like a version of what Solana might look like in 20 years or
so. This was the intimate connection I felt to the just the painting woman. According to my view the
woman in the painting is Important Valued. She is Strong Confident. She is Smart Empowered. She is
Kind is Loved. She is Sweet Feisty. She is dark skinned with luscious dark curls. She is at Peace and
She is Beautiful.
It was so clear! She is Solana. And because I want to raise Solana to know that she too is ALL OF
THOSE things, I painted HER for HER. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Mass Medi Weaknesses And Strengths Of The World
As informed by the additional resources, mass media has its own strengths and weaknesses. Based on
its pros and cons, the future of mass media will not just remain the same as the current situation any
more.
Firstly, the future of printed mass media which were the magazines, books, and newspaper has being
determined now in the early decades of the 21st century. The new digital technologies, mainly the
constant development and influences of the Internet are stimulating the publishers to expand new
business design that can turn out well and even grow in the Digital Age.
Secondly, different delivery medium are changing the television industry in a fundamental ways.

In the developing countries, these fears are deeply rooted in their colonial experience, when their
colonial masters imposed their language and culture on them. Developing nations consider the import
of US films to be a new kind of invasion cultural invasion...one cannot ignore the fact that rich
countries such as Canada and France share the concerns of developing countries about U.S. cultural
dominance. Their stance on electronic imperialism gives the concerns of the developing nations some
credence and suggests that those concerns do not stem purely from paranoia. (Sawhney, 2007 p.43)
Modern Mass Communications also drives the global economy, and allows us to enjoy the lifestyles
(In the first world at least) that we are accustomed to. (Sawhney, 2007) Although this can be explain
as the globalizing effects of mass communication, where the cultural values of people are relatively
the same, however, it is difficult to change as these values are learnt across a person s life. For
example, Japanese are naturally disciplined and hardworking people. The evidence of inherit values in
them can be seen across their country s history. Which is why, they still remain faithful with their
values even though they are mostly globalized nowadays. As a result, they are still able to preserve its
tradition and cultural values until

Equality in Opportunity and Equality in Outcome Essay
Diversity, equality and fairness are the latest buzzwords being kicked around in academia and the
media. Everybody is supposed to achieve the American Dream today, regardless of who you are,
where you came from, or what you do to get there. According to their math, equality of opportunity
equals equality of outcome, and if it doesn t, rig the formula so it does. I read a couple of articles in
nj.com recently. In one, a Rutgers Camden professor of Public Policy published a study that found that
more poor people were being concentrated in small to mid size cities today compared to ten years ago.
OK, the economy collapsed and the housing market tanked: poor people always lived in crappy
neighborhoods with other poor people, and rich people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first thing I noticed was that they didn t cut their lawns that often, and weren t into home
maintenance and repairs that our homeowners association requires. For instance, a ten foot piece of
my neighbor s siding fell off two years ago and it s still sitting in his backyard where it landed. The
other day I was in my backyard raking leaves, another chore my neighbors aren t into. I was looking
around and noticed that three out of my four closest neighbor s properties were deteriorating. Bags of
trash piling up, junk in the yard, siding not cleaned, repairs not made etc. Normally I wouldn t care,
but I plan on moving out within a year or two, and I don t think any prospective buyer of my home
would be impressed with the nouveau trash, Camdenesque look of my neighborhood. Ironically, the
one home that is being maintained has been vacant for the last five years, its owner dead four of those
years. Fortunately, his heirs are taking care of the property until the estate is settled. I went online to
look at my town s tax records. They have a nice website where you can view your payment history
and see what you owe. You can also view the records of everyone else in town. I found that three of
my neighbor s homes are owned by minority females. One passed away last year and her home is
being rented out, even though it is still in her name. The other two homes are occupied by their owners

Examples Of The Third Paradox Of Motion
The second paradox of motion is The Dichotomy: Before an object or person travel a certain total
distance, it must get the half distance of it, before you reach the half distance, you must travel the half
of the half which is ¼. In order to travel in that point, you must take the half of ¼ which is 1/8 and
take the half of 1/8 which is 1/16 and so on, etc, until you can no longer travel and move from your
starting point.
For an instance, a player wanted to get the ball on the other side of the court, in which they have
distance of 94 ft (distance between the ball and the person or the length of the court), in order for him
to get the ball, he must take the half distance which is 47 ft, before he take the 47 ft, he must travel the
half of it which is 23.5. But before you travel this, you must take first the 11.75 ft distance. In order to
reach the 11.75 ft, you must take the half of it which is 5.88. Before you reach this distance, you must
take 2.94 ft of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For an instance, an arrow in flight, he said that the arrow didn t move at all or motionless because,
before it was hit/released by the handler, it already occupies an equal space at rest, and when it was
released by the person in locomotion, the arrow took the same space and no time lapses for it to move,
therefore the flying arrow is at rest and motionless. In Zeno s third paradox, he believed that a motion
should have time lapses in order to be in motion. Time lapse can be done if there is the presence of
time and space acting together. For example, as time passes by, the roots of a tree grow, making it to
be large and spread its root to hold the soil. Because of the presence of time lapses as well as the
changes occur on the roots of the tree, we can say that the roots are in

Plot Summary of Remember the Titans Essays
Remember the Titans is a film from 2000 displaying a true story of a racially divided football team
from the 1970s. The movie highlights the relationships of the black and white people, and how they
learned to interact with each other in a time when this was not the way of life. It brings up a number of
questions throughout, of what is right and what is wrong, and really challenges the characters, making
it a very interesting movie to watch. I have seen this movie many times, and each time I feel like I get
something new out of it. It is a movie that can be used as a teaching tool, it does a great job of
interpreting not only what was happening in the United States of America at that time, but social
psychology concepts through real life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The text explains that, They may label each other as enemies, view their own group as morally
superior, draw the boundaries between themselves and their opponents more firmly, and, under
extreme conditions, may come to see the opposing group as not even human (Baron Branscombe,
2012). I would not say that the characters in the movie took this idea as far as the text explains, but
there were many examples of this happening. The first example would be between the coaches. Coach
Boone was given Coach Yoast s coaching position, and offers him an assistant position for the team.
Coach Yoast accepts the position, only for his players, but ensuring that his old assistant gets a job as
well. Now that the teams have integrated, there really is not enough room for all the coaches, and it
seems like each group is looking out for their own. Coach Boone also has his assistant working with
him, so now this makes four different coaches for T.C. William s football team. With all of this
happening the two white coaches and the two black coaches are not 100% getting along. They do not
agree with one another s ideas and have clear prejudices about one another, displaying the realistic
conflict theory. They all want to be doing the same thing but there were not enough spots, so they
think negatively of each other and often butt heads. This same idea moves onto the players. Each
player, black and white, had their spot on their old team where they were

seizes anything they thought to be pleasurable deeming it contraband. Offred remembers a time when
she was married to her husband Luke with a job and had her own financial backing. However, one day

The ways of Gilead were manipulative and controlling; they limited the amount of communication
with both the handmaids and citizens and used Angels, the police force and the eyes who were always
watching. Gilead painted a portrait of Christianity in a man made control mechanism to those in the
area. They were not aware of what was going on outside of Gilead and were trapped. We see in the
acts of punishment, as they hang men and women for their crimes encouraging others to watch and
display the dead bodies on the way that stands tall in the city. Their ways were also barbaric and
inhuman; as a horrific event occurred after the women celebrate, the joining of marriage for new
wives Aunt Lydia takes this opportunity to execute two handmaids and a wife. Moments after forming
a circle she announces to the crowd that two guardians were convicted of rape, but one was already
shot leaving this one for the handmaids. Adding fuel to the fire, she voices there were two handmaids
involved one being pregnant had lost the baby. They beat him to death without questioning
authoritative figures. Though we are unaware if the crimes those who were put to death were true or
falsified to fit the needs of the eyes or other government officials we just know that whatever they say
is perceived as true. It makes me wonder how much of this so called Christian inspired republic is
based on the bible and how much is based on man. Gilead used religion as a weapon to put fear in
their citizens and forced them to lose their identity. Through in ways

What Is The Theme Of The Wedding Cake Short Story
Food. This is how Tita Dela Garza, the main character of both the film and story used to express her

she also grew up in the kitchen because Nacha, the one who took care of her as a child, is obliged to

went to rest, Nacha tasted the batter and suddenly felt an intense longing for her fiancé, which caused
her death. Moreover, everyone who ate the cake at the wedding felt the exact same way. Some even
went nauseous because of the extreme feeling due to eating the cake. This scene is also portrayed in
the movie, making it easier to understand and visualize. Although only one food as medium to transfer
emotion scene can be read in the short story, in the film, several instanced were shown wherein people
who ate Tita s dish felt this weird feeling by her cooking. In one scene in the movie, this time, they felt
a sort of lust and intense heat in them, for she has felt that same way while she cooked it. This intense
heat was exaggerated in the movie wherein due to the severe body heat that her sister experienced due
to eating the cake, the place where she took a bath literally went on

Leon Festinger s Cognitive Dissonance Theory
What gives people the values and ideologies they hold so dear as adults? It all begins with their first
role models. The first role models for children are their parents. It is from their first role models
children begin to cognitively form, develop, and learn their first ideologies and values, which shapes
who they are and what they believe as children. They start to develop their first political ideologies
from their parents. Naturally, they follow the religiosity of their parents. They learn many of their
behaviors and attitudes from their parents. However, as these children grow older there will eventually
be a time when these ideologies and values fall into question, especially when two conflicting beliefs

policies as pointing to the same issues faced by any bank math vs. people. While its goals may be to

An example of this is when a country is caught in a death spiral they are stuck in a taxes spending debt
cycle. When a country spends more than it takes in (tax revenue) debt is incurred. Debt can be a
healthy sign, like a company that wants to buy another truck to be able to meet its requests for more
services. However, when a country takes on too much debt, investors start to lose trust in that country
s ability to pay its debt, so in order to get more funds, the creditors raise the interest rate, thereby
increasing its debt; and higher debt leads to lack of investor trust which leads to higher interest rates,
increasing the debt. (Khanacademyorg, 2012) And the death spiral begins.
As with an individual, when they get a pay raise, they can afford the new debt. With a country, they
must raise the taxes. If the citizens are not growing financially as a whole (Gross Domestic Product
(GDP) the broadest quantitative measure of a nation s total economic activity (Investinganswerscom,
2016)), then the ability of the country to raise taxes safely becomes problematic. Thus, the well being
of the individuals of a society help that country to grow. In other words, in 1776, Adam Smith called
this being led by an invisible hand (Smith, Cannan, 1904). This invisible hand is the self interest of the
individuals of society to better their lives through their own hard work which leads to the betterment
of the country. However, when a

Psychedelics are an uncommon topic brought up in medicine. Because of the status of psychedelic
drugs being restricted for recreational use, in developed countries such as The United States of

prior history with psychedelic drugs such as Methamphetamine, Psilocybin and Lysergic acid

because of modern connotations, these psychedelic drugs are being rejected in medicine. However, in

The man who synthesized it, Albert Hofmann, discovered it s hallucinogenic properties in 1943

America, Europe, and England, LSD was being used in treating various mental disorders (McCabe,

The Age of Enlightment
In Europe in the early 17th century, Christianity was the dominant religion. Most countries believed
that it was the only acceptable one, and that there should not be any toleration for other religions. In
many countries, the monarchs (or the other rulers) would enforce Christianity and persecute people
with other beliefs. Some of these beliefs, however, changed during the Age of Enlightenment from the
late 1600 s to the mid 1700 s. The philosophers during the Age of Enlightenment influenced peoples
way of thinking through their ideas of reason, empiricism, and the power of nature. The ideas that the
philosophers had eliminated the stranglehold that religion had on the people and the government.
Through the heavy influence of John Locke, Isaac Newton, and other philosophers, alternative
religions, mainly deism, emerged, which changed how people viewed themselves and their
relationship to government. Through their discoveries and theories, the philosophers during the Age of
Enlightenment greatly affected the way that people viewed themselves. Isaac Newton was the first of
these philosophers to alter the views of the people of the time. Newton believed that the key to
discovery was trial and error. He believed that no one should firmly believe in anything unless it was
distinctly proven. This idea is known as empiricism. Along with these views, he also believed that
there was a scientific and mathematical reason for everything on earth. Rather than God being the only

Onychomadesis Research Paper
Onychomadesis
Onychomadesis is the separation of the nail plate from the nail bed. It can often look like a more
severe case of Beau s Lines, and leaves the nails with a dull appearance. They will also have white
streaks down the length of them and feel very brittle. There is no discomfort, pain, or swelling with
this disease. A diagnosis is made through examination of the nail plate. The difference between
onychomadesis and Beau s Line s is that there is a complete stoppage of nail production with
onychomadesis. Onychomadesis may be a sign of a greater, underlying problem and is known to be
linked with Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease in children.
Causes
Onychomadesis occurs whenever the matrix is damaged and stops producing new cells. Localized
trauma can cause single digit onychomadesis, meaning it only occurs on one nail. Local trauma can be
any damage to the fingernail that harms the matrix. When the matrix is harmed, the fingernails are
unhealthy and will not grow. Multi digit onychomadesis suggests a systemic problem such as fever,
use of drugs, or viral infections (1 MD Edge). This disease can also present itself after chicken pox.
Onychomadesis is cause by a fungus in the family of Moniliacaea (3 Remedy Land).

The Loss Of A Stroke
About three years ago my grandfather had a stroke. When we were at the hospital, the nurses told my
family that it was not a very serious stroke compared to how serious it could have become, and that
the likelihood of his recovery would be very promising. Seeing him in the hospital impacted me
greatly because my great grandfather died of a stroke. I was taken back by the paleness of my
grandfather s skin and his weak ability to talk or move his left side immediately after. Now he appears
to be able to function at almost the same rate he used to. I believe that having a stroke instilled a fear
in my grandfather that will forever change his attitude toward enjoying life and doing the things he
used to. Since his stroke, he refuses to hunt, fish, or do many of the tasks he was used to and instead
watches television and stays close to home. Stroke is the fifth leading cause of death and adult
disability in the U.S, (National Stroke Association). Stroke is known as, the death of nerve cells

Robert Frost s Desert Places
Robert Frost s Desert Places
One of the most monumental poetic works of T.S Eliot is The Waste Land . The poem emerges as a
gigantic metaphor for melancholy, loneliness, solitude the unavoidable companions of human
existence. Similar kinds of feelings are evoked by Robert Frost in Desert Places .
The very title is suggestive of a mood of emptiness. Throughout our life we cross various deserts to
find our destiny. The beauty of the poem lies in the conjunction the meeting point desert outside in the
nature with the desert inside. This becomes the focal point of the poem. The dreary opening is
indicated by the falling snow and the advancing night. The poet observes the scenario as the snow
blankets the earth and the darkness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now the poet finally gives to the whole scene. The tiny man feels shrouded by the layers of snow. The
lonesome man crystallizes his loneliness in this snowy covering.
Such is the impact of the natural cohesiveness that the poet, as he observes the natural panorama,
regards himself as an intruder in this unit. The poet relishes the pleasure that the animals are having as
they crouch in their lairs, becoming a part of the nature. The animals manage to develop a correlation
with the nature because they don t complain due to a feeling of unconsciousness while the poet does
complain, he does give vent to his feeling as his perceptive mind ponders over the cold hard realities.
Realities that whether he matters in this whole setup? The strain in the emotional chords of the poet
endow a strange minor tone to the whole poem as he realizes that his benumbed mind has failed to
draw a relation and so he grooves back into his own self.
The whole of the second stanza is brimming with the realization of being deprived.
It becomes his callousness and stubbornness to enter the realm of nature and endowed to him by the
sense of being lonely and deprived. The recognition of this sense of loneliness and dispossession
results in his mind being at a loss to emotional response. In this mind set he gives way to the
benumbing mood all around. The whole nature is showing a moodic deceleration because of the snow
and the night. In direct contrast to its nature, this

Positive Impact On Our Culture By Josh Rose And Is...
Is society being dehumanized by technology? Or are technological advancements bringing people
closer together? In recent years, the growing use of technology has been impacting the way humans
function and communicate in everyday life. Accelerating rates of social media usage questions the vast
impact on society. Thus, emerging the argument of whether or not social media is playing the role of
connecting the world together or tearing it apart and leaving individuals to feel a sense of loneliness.
In the articles How Social Media Is Having a Positive Impact on Our Culture by Josh Rose and Is
Facebook Making Us Lonely by Stephen Marche, the authors discuss opposing views on the topic of
social media. Rose argues that social media has had a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the article Rose discusses many assumptions without any quality support. He bases
observation from a coffee shop and states four people are looking at screens and four people are
reading something on paper. And I m doing both. I see Facebook open on two screens, but I m sure at
some point, it s been open on all of them ( Rose 555). Rose one, is assuming that everyone uses
facebook and two, is assuming that the people in this coffee shop represent the world and that
everyone is similar to this one room. He then states that people aren t giving up long form reading,
considered thinking, or social interactions. They are just filling all the space in between (Rose 555).
Again, making assumptions that if people are using social media they must be doing it just to fill time.
That however, is a hasty generalization made from flawed inductive reasoning and is therefore invalid
and causes readers to lose both trust and interest in what Rose has to say. Throughout the article Rose
uses his opinion and starts sentences off with I think in hopes to persuade the reader, however this
opinion based argumentation is not helpful in gaining reliance. For example rose states, I think we can
all agree which one feels better (555). While he may be right that most people will agree with him,
leaving his argument up to assumptions is a poor decision rather than backing it up with facts and

Looking At The Angel Capital Group
Angel investors are another way to start a business, like banks and venture capitalists. It is their job to
invest, they just have different evaluations to make an investment worth their attention. Looking at the
Angel Capital Group will expose the evaluations they use, and give ideas weather or not an angel
investor is right for the business one seeks to have funded (Angel Capital Group, 2015).
Understanding their proximity, value, experience and other factors will help define what the angel
investor is all about (Bell, 2007). Putting other factual information together along with what the angel
is and what they are looking for will give a picture of what the possibilities are for this type of
endeavor. Where is the angel investor and where is the business? The angel wants to feel close to the
business, at least, if not be right next door so they can check in easily (Bell, 2007). Just like mom can
be a pain because she knows so much about her baby, the angel wants to make sure you are healthy
and on a righteous path. They are here to help the business grow and become all it can be, and have an
interest in giving the entrepreneur help to do just that (Angel Capital Group, 2015). They can help
with contacts, advertising, legal aspects, and many other things that might be harder to get at all by
oneself. Why trust an angel investor, and what can they bring to the dinner table? The top three people
at Angel Capital Group have a combined history of 20 years plus directly

Free University In Canada
Free university, the idea may seem great but in reality it creates more harm than it is
beneficial.University should not be free due to the negative economic impacts that are attached to the
concept.
The Concept of free tuition for university would eliminate student loans in Canada hence weakening
the banks of Canada and the nation s economy. Due to the interest on student loans, banks make a
significant amount of profit. Without the income from student loans, the banks of Canada will severely
be weakened. This would cause banks to make less profit, pay fewer taxes, employ a smaller amount
of employees, making fewer contributions to small businesses around Canada, and increase the
difficulty of acquiring loans or mortgages ( Banks and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Socialism (equality) sounds as if it were a better economic system than capitalism (equity), it is
not. With history proving that Capitalism is a better economic system. If you look at the cold war
between the U.S.S.R (a socialist country) and the U.S.A (a capitalist country) for world power, it
becomes obvious that the capitalism is better economic system then socialism. As the U.S.S.R lost the
cold war in simplest turns because they ran out of money, while their counter parts the U.S.A economy
flourished and today they are undoubtedly the world s leading power(Cold war organization). This
shows that the socialist concept of free university will hurt the Canadian economy and that capitalist
system we have now works best for a strong Canadian economy.Furthermore free university is proven
to hurt the economies of several countries. Currently there are seven countries that have switched to
free university; Germany, France, Malta the Scandinavian countries. A study done by the Brock press
on the economic impacts of free university on these countries found that directly after switching to
tuition free university the economy of these countries felt the negative impacts of free tuition for

An Effective Type Of Birth Control
According to a study done by CNN, as many as one in eight teens within the United States have taken
the virginity pledge (Tamkins, 2008). This means that they took the opportunity and are making a
written or verbal commitment and promising to refrain from sexual activities until marriage. But
officially, the virginity pledge states that Believing that true love waits, I make a commitment to God,
myself, my family, my friends, my future mate and my future children to be sexually abstinent from
this day until the day I enter a biblical marriage relationship (True Love Waits, n.d). True Love Waits

For the most part, typically this reason is an individual s religion and belief (Kim and Rector, 2009).
Signing a virginity pledge is a solemn vow for individuals with strong religious commitment but that
it has much less meaning for those with low religious commitment (Landor 2013). For individuals
with a high viewpoint on religion, having the approval of their higher up is everything. For them,
having sex is a sin, which is something that is not allowed, especially as a Christian. An individual
with these kinds of viewpoints are more likely to keep their pledge strictly because this is what they
believe; in the case of religion, virginity pledging can be an effective type of birth control (Bersamin,
2005).
But what happens when an individual decides to make the pledge, but isn t fully committed to their
church or religion? It is said that if the pledge is made privately for oneself rather than publicly, an
individual is more likely to keep their commitment. When someone strongly believes in something,
they will do everything in their power to keep that promise to their self. Another reason why someone
would make this promise is for the feeling of self worth or accomplishment. It is thought that God will
love you more and be so proud of you; this individual will also live a much happier marriage life with
someone you weren t meant to be with. Waiting until marriage also shows that the marriage will be
more successful compared to a marriage

Analysis Of Chesterton And His Literary Masterpiece
While doing research on G.K. Chesterton and his literary masterpiece, I came upon this question What
is the difference between progress and growth? to which G.K. Chesterton answered The fatal
metaphor of progress, which means leaving things behind us, has utterly obscured the real idea of
growth, which means leaving things inside of us. This statement is just one of the plethora of
quotations of a man who never attended any university, and it amazing how he can say something
about everything and say it better than everybody else. This is a journey to understand a genius and
the Nightmare that he is well known for even over one hundred years after it was written.

Although he never went to college, he proved that genius cannot be tied down to the rules of the
academy. Chesterton, in fact, chose to be a journalist, because in that role he could think most
profoundly, powerfully, and effectively.
He was vitally concerned with the injustices of Great Britain to its dependencies. He progressed from
newspaper to public debate. He used logic, laughter, paradox, and his own winning personality to
show that imperialism was destroying English patriotism.
In 1900 he published his first literary works, two volumes of poetry. In 1900 he met Hilaire Belloc,
and in 1901 he married Frances Blogg. These events were two of the great influences in his life. From
1904 to 1936 Chesterton published nearly a dozen novels, the most important being The Napoleon of
Notting Hill (1904) and The Man Who Was Thursday (1908). In 1911 Chesterton created the Father
Brown detective stories. During his literary career he published 90 books and numerous articles.
He poured out a wealth of lighthearted essays, historical sketches, and metaphysical and polemical
works, together with such well known poems as The Ballad of the White Horse, Lepanto, and the
drinking songs from The Flying Inn. Among his major critical works are reviews of Robert Browning
(1903) and Charles Dickens (1906). Prodigiously talented, Chesterton also illustrated a number of
Belloc s light works.

Construction Of Male Sexuality In Catullus
In Skinner s article Ego Mulier: The Construction of Male Sexuality in Catullus, she shares her
knowledge on Roman ancient gender protocol. Skinner talks about the Roman sexual ethics and how
the Roman males conduct themselves under this protocol. Skinner illustrates how Catullus uses poetry
to express his feelings, and what was Catullus s life like under this type of protocol in ancient Rome.
Catullus poetry at times is difficult to understand, precisely what he is trying to tell his audience about
his life, but as Skinner explains it clearly in her article she explains that in Rome, free boys were
considered objects of desire, but it was not acceptable for a man to act upon that desire. Romans
masculinity can always be put into question:

The Tale Of The 4 Train
The tale of the 4 train depicts the story of the type of people that already live in Jerome Avenue, and
those who don t. As the 4 train keeps going uptown towards the Bronx, there are less white people and

Manhattan when it reaches the 125th street stop, the train is then filled black and brown faces, and
there aren t any other white faces unless its game day at the Yankee Stadium. The people that are
coming from one of the richest zip codes, Wall Street, and those in between are long gone; and the
people that have endured the long train ride uptown are left to ride the train along Jerome Avenue.
This image somehow reflects the white flight that occurred decades earlier in the Bronx, as people of
color settled while white people moved out as the borough experienced urban decay. Not only did the
Bronx survive, but so did the people of color that dealt and endured the harsh realities that still lingers
in the Bronx in present day.
New York City has gone through drug epidemics, high levels of poverty, white flight and other factors
that contributed to urban decay. However, the Bronx became the national poster city for urban decay,
famously known for its arsonry that plagued the borough. The Bronx could not shake off for decades

Relationship Between Stress, Anxiety and Phobias
Discuss the relationship between stress, anxiety, habits and phobias and describe how you would treat
these issues with hypnotherapy In order to understand the relationship between stress, anxiety, habits
and phobias, it is necessary to first define what each one is and how it might affect individuals. Stress
could be defined as a normal physiological response by the body to situations or stimuli which the
brain perceives as dangerous or threatening to the body. The body is a complex system and over time
developed a way of responding that was designed to keep us safe. Our subconscious mind is alert for
anything that might threaten our well being and when the brain perceives a threat a physiological

Anxiety is therefore closely tied in with stress as a response to a perceived threat. Anxiety is
something everyone experiences from time to time; perhaps before a job interview, hospital operation
or whilst waiting for very important news. Anxiety is related to the stress response of fight or flight .
Whilst this response is useful for protection against physical dangers, it s not likely to be useful where
the perceived threat relates to something such as a driving test or a public speaking engagement other
than to makes us try to avoid the situation. Anxiety can be triggered by a number of factors. A past
experience that we found unpleasant or associate with uncomfortable feelings, may create anxiety
about it happening again in the future. We also learn ways of responding to stresses from our parents
and due to the environment we grew up in. Signs and symptoms of anxiety include for example,
churning stomach, muscle tension, headaches, palpitations, sweating, heightened alertness, inability to
relax and irritability. According to Mind , the mental health charity, long term anxiety is bad for
health, weakening the immune system, lowering resistance to infection and increasing the risk of

What Is Male Dominance In The Yellow Wallpaper
Introduction
Charlotte Perkins Gilman is an author, but also a well known feminist who believed that
heterosexuality had become the means by which men subjected women through an economic
dependency . (feminism 1) Throughout my research there is one word that best describes the era of a
male dominated and controlled society, Patriarch! During this period of male dominance, Gilman
wrote The Yellow Wallpaper to prove a point and to get Dr. Weir Mitchell to change his ways. (3).
Gilman suffered from neurasthenic, melancholia, suicidal depression and after the birth of her child
post partum depression. Gilman was a patient of Dr. Mitchell and was prescribed the Rest Cure ,
which is to rest and never write again. Gilman follows the recommended prescription for a month but
found it was weakening her intellect. The Yellow Wallpaper was written during the time of a
patriarchal society and the reader becomes witness to male dominance. The male dominance in The

Hundred Years War Research Paper
Imagine 55 battles with 3.5 million losses lasting 116 years. This is the story behind the Hundred
Years War, an extensive struggle between England and France over succession to the French throne
between 1337 and 1453. The war commences firstly with a conflict over the status of the duchy of
Guyenne which belonged to England yet it was a fief of the French crown. Secondly, the closest
relatives of the last direct Capetian King Charles IV had claimed the crown of France which was to be
challenged. The French Kings had possessed the financial and military resources of the most
populated and influential state in Western Europe. This resulted into several victories over larger
French forces. The first major engagement of the Hundred Years War was the Battle of Crécy. Edward
III landed in Normandy in the year 1346. He decided to stop near Crecy in Normandy and to prepare
for battle the next day. However, the French frontline made contact and started to attack without a set
plan. The French made several attacks and the English checked each one in turn, mostly because of
the English longbowmen. This led to a decisive victory for England. In 1360, King John of France

  • 2. Animal Cruelty In Perdue Farms Throughout the Perdue farms across the country, there has been evidence of overcrowding and unethical treatment to the chickens kept in the barns. This past December, footage of workers stomping on the necks of chickens in a North Carolina Perdue chicken farm was released by Mercy for Animals, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing animal cruelty in the food industry ( Watch ). With the introduction of this video, the organization stated that the only direct solution to this problem is to become vegetarian, but I refuse to believe that that is the only option. I am personally concerned with what foods and chemicals I am putting into my body, and it makes me uncomfortable knowing that I am consuming chicken that has been covered in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Farm Sanctuary, the chickens, and the large barns they are raised in, are covered in feces. Even under these conditions, Perdue still believes they are healthy enough for human consumption ( Factory Farming ). Over the years, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has travelled around the country to protest with other disgruntled Perdue employees. During one of their protests at the Perdue slaughterhouse in Salisbury, Maryland, Ingrid E. Newkirk, PETA president, came across chickens dying from heatstroke in exposed crates. After further investigation, she found that if the chickens can t handle the unethical conditions created by the employees and are dead, dying, diseased, or disabled, they will be thrown like lifeless beings into bins labelled 4D ( Frank Perdue s Legacy ). The awful fact of the matter is that most of the chickens are disabled as the majority of them suffer from broken bones. This occurs because of the rapid breast growth the company sets as standards for production. The number of hormones and antibiotics that the company infuses into the chickens makes them grow at abnormally fast rates. The normal chicken s life span is about ten to fifteen years ( Frank Perdue s Legacy ). Perdue typically slaughters its chickens once they reach the age of two months. At this age, their breast size is approximately the same as a ten year old ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. More Severe Child Discipline Child discipline has been a heated topic of debate in recent years. Many older people in past generations support more severe child discipline, citing that it teaches kids proper behavior better than more modern teaching styles. However, younger parents and experts are saying that severe child discipline can have long lasting negative effects. The issue of child abuse has been brought up many times in these arguments. There is a fine line between an acceptable spanking and child abuse. Corporal punishment may be thought of as, the good old days, by many adults, but kids today measure up, and might even surpass what kids used to be like. Corporal punishment may be favored at home or might be thought of as a good tool to teach children respect. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Parents may think that they grew up smart and mature because of corporal punishment and that kids today do not know respect because of the lack of this type of punishment. However, studies have shown that child behavior is actually on the rise; kids are behaving better than they ever have. Anything from teen pregnancy to bullying are all on the decline. There are less children going to juvy, teen pregnancy has been cut in half, and reported bullying is at an all time low (Rettew). Substance use is also on the decline. Fewer and fewer kids are getting involved in smoking and drinking while underage. The only drug that seems to be an exception is cannabis, which has remained stable in use for the past 20 or more years ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Black Woman In The Painting I had the opportunity to customize the painting to make HER look more like myself. And, I considered it. I thought, I d have to change HER skin tone to a much lighter shade of brown. I d have to straighten HER hair and take out the beautiful bounce of HER curls. I would be changing HER entire look. I wasn t feelin it. The Black woman in the painting was already so beautiful the way she was and I just didn t feel moved to change HER. Actually, I related to HER in a very intimate way. I already knew it wasn t the way she looked that I saw in myself. So I couldn t figure out what it was about HER that I related to. I mean after all, it s just a painting, I don t actually know HER, Right? Wrong, I do know HER. She is a part of me. She is an extension of me. She is SOLANA NADINE. It hit me! The woman in the painting looks like a version of what Solana might look like in 20 years or so. This was the intimate connection I felt to the just the painting woman. According to my view the woman in the painting is Important Valued. She is Strong Confident. She is Smart Empowered. She is Kind is Loved. She is Sweet Feisty. She is dark skinned with luscious dark curls. She is at Peace and She is Beautiful. It was so clear! She is Solana. And because I want to raise Solana to know that she too is ALL OF THOSE things, I painted HER for HER. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. Mass Medi Weaknesses And Strengths Of The World As informed by the additional resources, mass media has its own strengths and weaknesses. Based on its pros and cons, the future of mass media will not just remain the same as the current situation any more. Firstly, the future of printed mass media which were the magazines, books, and newspaper has being determined now in the early decades of the 21st century. The new digital technologies, mainly the constant development and influences of the Internet are stimulating the publishers to expand new business design that can turn out well and even grow in the Digital Age. Secondly, different delivery medium are changing the television industry in a fundamental ways. Digital video recorders (DVRs), Internet television, satellite video on demand(VOD) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the developing countries, these fears are deeply rooted in their colonial experience, when their colonial masters imposed their language and culture on them. Developing nations consider the import of US films to be a new kind of invasion cultural invasion...one cannot ignore the fact that rich countries such as Canada and France share the concerns of developing countries about U.S. cultural dominance. Their stance on electronic imperialism gives the concerns of the developing nations some credence and suggests that those concerns do not stem purely from paranoia. (Sawhney, 2007 p.43) Modern Mass Communications also drives the global economy, and allows us to enjoy the lifestyles (In the first world at least) that we are accustomed to. (Sawhney, 2007) Although this can be explain as the globalizing effects of mass communication, where the cultural values of people are relatively the same, however, it is difficult to change as these values are learnt across a person s life. For example, Japanese are naturally disciplined and hardworking people. The evidence of inherit values in them can be seen across their country s history. Which is why, they still remain faithful with their values even though they are mostly globalized nowadays. As a result, they are still able to preserve its tradition and cultural values until ... • 6. Equality in Opportunity and Equality in Outcome Essay Diversity, equality and fairness are the latest buzzwords being kicked around in academia and the media. Everybody is supposed to achieve the American Dream today, regardless of who you are, where you came from, or what you do to get there. According to their math, equality of opportunity equals equality of outcome, and if it doesn t, rig the formula so it does. I read a couple of articles in nj.com recently. In one, a Rutgers Camden professor of Public Policy published a study that found that more poor people were being concentrated in small to mid size cities today compared to ten years ago. OK, the economy collapsed and the housing market tanked: poor people always lived in crappy neighborhoods with other poor people, and rich people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first thing I noticed was that they didn t cut their lawns that often, and weren t into home maintenance and repairs that our homeowners association requires. For instance, a ten foot piece of my neighbor s siding fell off two years ago and it s still sitting in his backyard where it landed. The other day I was in my backyard raking leaves, another chore my neighbors aren t into. I was looking around and noticed that three out of my four closest neighbor s properties were deteriorating. Bags of trash piling up, junk in the yard, siding not cleaned, repairs not made etc. Normally I wouldn t care, but I plan on moving out within a year or two, and I don t think any prospective buyer of my home would be impressed with the nouveau trash, Camdenesque look of my neighborhood. Ironically, the one home that is being maintained has been vacant for the last five years, its owner dead four of those years. Fortunately, his heirs are taking care of the property until the estate is settled. I went online to look at my town s tax records. They have a nice website where you can view your payment history and see what you owe. You can also view the records of everyone else in town. I found that three of my neighbor s homes are owned by minority females. One passed away last year and her home is being rented out, even though it is still in her name. The other two homes are occupied by their owners and their live in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Examples Of The Third Paradox Of Motion The second paradox of motion is The Dichotomy: Before an object or person travel a certain total distance, it must get the half distance of it, before you reach the half distance, you must travel the half of the half which is ¼. In order to travel in that point, you must take the half of ¼ which is 1/8 and take the half of 1/8 which is 1/16 and so on, etc, until you can no longer travel and move from your starting point. For an instance, a player wanted to get the ball on the other side of the court, in which they have distance of 94 ft (distance between the ball and the person or the length of the court), in order for him to get the ball, he must take the half distance which is 47 ft, before he take the 47 ft, he must travel the half of it which is 23.5. But before you travel this, you must take first the 11.75 ft distance. In order to reach the 11.75 ft, you must take the half of it which is 5.88. Before you reach this distance, you must take 2.94 ft of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Zeno s third paradox, he believed that a motion should have time lapses in order to be in motion. Time lapse can be done if there is the presence of time and space acting together. For example, as time passes by, the roots of a tree grow, making it to be large and spread its root to hold the soil. I would not say that the characters in the movie took this idea as far as the text explains, but there were many examples of this happening. The first example would be between the coaches. An example of this is when a country is caught in a death spiral they are stuck in a taxes spending debt cycle. When a country spends more than it takes in (tax revenue) debt is incurred. Debt can be a healthy sign, like a company that wants to buy another truck to be able to meet its requests for more services. However, when a country takes on too much debt, investors start to lose trust in that country s ability to pay its debt, so in order to get more funds, the creditors raise the interest rate, thereby increasing its debt; and higher debt leads to lack of investor trust which leads to higher interest rates, increasing the debt. (Khanacademyorg, 2012) And the death spiral begins. As with an individual, when they get a pay raise, they can afford the new debt. With a country, they must raise the taxes. Although he never went to college, he proved that genius cannot be tied down to the rules of the academy. Chesterton, in fact, chose to be a journalist, because in that role he could think most profoundly, powerfully, and effectively. He was vitally concerned with the injustices of Great Britain to its dependencies. He progressed from newspaper to public debate. He used logic, laughter, paradox, and his own winning personality to show that imperialism was destroying English patriotism. In 1900 he published his first literary works, two volumes of poetry. In 1900 he met Hilaire Belloc, and in 1901 he married Frances Blogg. These events were two of the great influences in his life. From 1904 to 1936 Chesterton published nearly a dozen novels, the most important being The Napoleon of Notting Hill (1904) and The Man Who Was Thursday (1908). In 1911 Chesterton created the Father Brown detective stories. During his literary career he published 90 books and numerous articles. He poured out a wealth of lighthearted essays, historical sketches, and metaphysical and polemical works, together with such well known poems as The Ballad of the White Horse, Lepanto, and the drinking songs from The Flying Inn. Among his major critical works are reviews of Robert Browning (1903) and Charles Dickens (1906). Prodigiously talented, Chesterton also illustrated a number of Belloc s light works. However even with this increased responsibility CWAC remained very segregated from the official Canadian Army Corps, personnel took a modified basic training course and classes as well as slept completely separate from the men. As CWAC numbers grew so did the number of men that the Women could replace in their various trades. Even though they performed the same tasks as the men they were paid significantly less. This was accepted by most women seen as fair considering they did not have to perform guard duty. Some personnel did lobby for equal pay and by the end of the war women were being paid about 80% of man of equal rank. While it easy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
