What Is The Moral Satire In The Mysterious Outsider
In the Mark Twain story The Mysterious Stranger , Philip Traum, also known as Satan, teaches
Theodor that the Moral Sense that humans possess is more of an impairment than a gift. The first time
Satan degrades Man s Moral Sense is when he uses the term to explain the difference between himself
and Man. Theodor, who was ambivalent about what the Moral Sense was, became upset at the way
Satan speaks of it. Theodor feels offended at first, but then Satan s charisma and tricks gives Theodore
mixed feelings. To sway Theodor s feelings, Satan shows Theodor several examples of the cruel things
Man does that no other animal on Earth would do. Satan makes the claim that although man was given
the Moral Sense to differentiate between right and wrong, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Satan compares humans to sheep, and says that they mostly follow others and tend to
follow the aggressive and pitiless minority, afraid to assert themselves. Man s Moral Sense leads him
to follow others since he has the preconceived notion that if everyone does it, then it must be the right
thing to do. He explains that Man alone is kind hearted and shrink from inflicting pain, but in the
presence of the aggressive and pitiless minority they don t dare to assert themselves. He says that we
go to war for no apparent reason and it is unjust and dishonorable, as there is no necessity for it , but
Moral Sense drives us to it. Satan exclaims that Man is to me as a red spider is to an elephant . He says
that an elephant may live a century, while a red spider s life is rather ephemeral. Man may think that
Moral sense makes him above the other animals, and closest to God, but Satan explains Man is
nothing to him and he cannot get to that remote level of Man. Satan also makes the claim that the
distinction between Man and him is immeasurable as Man has no intellect. Moral Sense drives Man to
do immoral things, making him libel the higher

We Must Keep Your Computer Safer
Introduction
There are simple steps that can be taken to make your computer safer. Every computer connected to a
network is at risk of being attacked, but knowledge of each threat that can occur and knowing how to
minimize your security risk can help in the setup of a new computer and the ones that you already
have. With knowing how to prevent your computer from being attacked will help you in setting up
accounts for social media as well because you will be able to tell what and who is harmful to your
account.
Threats and Vulnerabilities Though it has been some years since I have set up a Twitter account it hasn
t been the last time I ve set up a social network account. I had created one for the purpose of my
YouTube Channel. The signup process was easy even putting pictures or basic information on the
page. They asked my interest as to gage what I would want to see on my timeline. Then proceed to
make a suggestion list of people I may want to follow based off how I answered or selected what or
who I m interested in. As time went on I ve only followed accounts that I may already follow on my
original twitter account. No complaints here on that process. The list of suggestions grew once I
befriended my original page. No complaints here on that process.
To create your account, you will have to be at least 13 years old, with a valid phone number and email.

Thoreacic Aortic Aneurysm Research Paper
Imagine a main water pipe, one that supplies a major city and all outlying communities with their
main water supply; suddenly that pipe bursts and floods the entire area and all cities. The devastation
is felt for miles away. This is what happens when a Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm occurs in a patient. The
Cleveland Clinic states that thoracic aortic aneurysms affect more than 15,000 people in the United
States, every year. From those 15,000 only about twenty to thirty percent of patients, who made it to
the hospital, survive from the aneurysm. That is only 3000 to 4500 people; the others will usually need
some type of treatment to help them live a longer life. There are certain treatments depending on
where specifically the injury to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most common cause is hypertension, or high blood pressure. Stress, smoking, high cholesterol,
and obesity can also lead to stress of the heart and aorta, which can lead to the aneurysm. A family
history of heart problems, high blood pressure or aneurysms may raise a patient s risk of having their
own aneurysm. Other than the health reasons above, there are also some medical disorders that can
weaken the aorta, thus increasing the chance of aneurysm. These disorders are: Marfan Syndrome (a
genetic disorder that affects the connective tissue), Ehlers Danlos syndrome (another inherited

Discussion of the Importance of Multilingualism Among Yout...
Language is a system of representation that enables us to encode and convey meaning through the
production and combination of signs. (Neves, 2011) Multilingualism can, therefore, be described as a
person s capability to maintain and practice two or more languages in an environment. This concept is
quite commonly seen throughout South Africa as there is a total of eleven official languages. These
languages are critical in today s youth as they are exposed to a culturally diverse society which
enables them to broaden their thinking in every day life.
Language within societies can be broken down into two categories, namely Linguistic Determinism
and Linguistic Relativism. Linguistic Determinism proposes that different languages incorporate ...

During the years of language acquisition, the brain stores linguistic information but it also adapts to
the grammatical predictabilities of language. (Sakai, 2005) It is classified under Cognitive Psychology
and this development builds and enhances a child s communication skills in their schooling careers.
However, if children attend parallel medium schooling, they are likely never to learn and use one
language. They will be able to speak and write in both languages which is a positive aspect but they
may never have the full vocabulary or grammar rules as they are too busy learning both languages
instead of concentrating fully on one. The positive aspects of multilingualism outweighs the negatives
as being bilingual broadens one s opportunities in schooling, especially in tertiary education, as well
as one day when they are in search of jobs. A person is that much more employable and more likely to
be successful if they are able to participate and communicate effectively in a growing and changing
work environment.
Multilingualism can be seen as a vitally important factor amongst young South Africans as there is a
constant change occurring in the schooling and work environments. The drastic change from
Apartheid to the diverse and inclusive society today, where all languages are accepted and recognised
in South Africa s legislation, is the grounding and

Papers On Child Sexual Abuse
Child sexual abuse is a subject that has received much attention in recent years and has caused some
concern s in our society. Sexual abuse is when one person dominates and exploits another person by
the means of suggestion or sexual activity. This form of abuse continues to pose serious and pervasive
mental health complications to the victim and their family. There is increasing documentation that a
child and adolescent victims of sexual abuse and their non offending parents and siblings are in need
of mental health services (Putnam, 2003). Majority of sexual abuse occurs during childhood; however,
incest is the most common form of sexual abuse. The counselor must understand that child sexual
abuse goes beyond touching and must be aware there is many forms of sexual abuse to a child. The
perpetrator can exploit a child by assaulting them through the internet, introducing a child to
pornography, or convince the child to take inappropriate pictures. The severity of the sexual act may
cause more serious impact, several other factors may influence the degree of damage to the survivor s
experiences. Factors may include the perspective of the individual, the individual s internal resources,
and the individual s level of support (Ratican, 1992). After the abuse has occurred the families face
multiple challenges like change of residence, loss of income, loss of caregiver and no support from the
community. Once those challenges arise these challenges can be accompanied

Messenger Protein Synthesis
Genes are transcribed to yield one of three types of RNA. These RNA types include messenger RNA
(mRNA), transfer RNA (tRNA), and ribosomal RNA (rRNA). Messenger RNA carries the genetic
instructions needed to manufacture polypeptides. Messenger RNA is absolutely necessary, because
genes cannot leave the nucleus. They pass their information to mRNA, which transports that
information to the cytoplasm, where protein synthesis occurs at the ribosome.
Protein synthesis is the manufacturing of functional polypeptides in the cytoplasm. Protein synthesis
occurs through the process of translation. Translation is the formation of a chain of amino acids by
using the instructions a messenger RNA strand provides. This process takes place at the ribosome. The
codons of an mRNA strand carry the instructions in triplets of bases of the coding strand of the gene.
Each codon encodes a specific amino acid to be installed into the growing polypeptide chain. During
translation, the sequence of codons will dictate the sequence of amino acids in the protein. The amino
acids are delivered to the ribosome by transfer RNA, a fairly small and mobile type of RNA. Each
transfer RNA molecule attaches and transports a specific amino acid. ... Show more content on

This quantity ensures that there is at least one tRNA for each of the 20 different types of amino acids
used in protein synthesis. Each tRNA molecule has a 3 CCA sequence that attaches to an amino acid.
Transfer RNA s are typically 80 bases in length. Approximately midway along its length, the
polynucleotide chain of tRNA forms a loop, called the anticodon loop. This loop contains 3 bases that
can pair complementarily with an appropriate codon in the mRNA. The nucleotide sequence of the
anticodon dictates the type of amino acid transported by the transfer RNA. For example, a tRNA with
the anticodon ACA carries cysteine, whereas a tRNA with the anticodon AAA carries

Online vs Traditional Education
Online vs. Traditional Education
With the increase in use of the Internet, more people are online to make purchases, research
information and now gain an online education. Online education is on the rise. People are choosing to
get an online education more so now because people are busier than ever and more jobs are requiring
a college education. Also with these larger companies closing and laying off employees, people who
once had a job are now faced with the challenge of looking for a new jobs sometimes with no skills to
offer a new employer. There are more people who have waited until later in life to get their degree in
order to get a job or advance on the current job.

This anxiety is what you call social phobia. Phobias are the single largest disorder of all anxiety cases
of phobic disorders. Anxiety disorders involve fierce worry and self consciousness about everyday
social livings. They often worry about fear of being judged by others or behaving in a way that might
cause embarrassment or lead to ridicule such as harm. An online education stops all phobias and
disorders for those that have these health issues. Online provides a cost savings for students because
they do not have to spend the gas to attend a college. There may not be a suitable college in proximity
so by taking online classes you save money by buying less gas. Also online classes will save the
mileage and damage on your vehicle. If the college is a long distance away there will be more miles
put on your vehicle, need to keep up better maintenance and more frequent oil changes. What I am
saying it cost less to take online courses than it does to go to a junior college or university. I am what I
call distant learning because I live in Texas and attending a university in Arizona. I can do everything
a student does that attends traditional college from home, work, or on the go mobility. By offering
online courses, I do not have to worry about eliminating expenses such as room and board, utilities,
the most expensive books and cafeteria

History of the Founding of Israel
During World War II, millions of Jews fled from Germany to escape the brutality of Adolf Hitler. A
Zionist movement established that all Jewish refugees were to flee to Palestine, a concept founded by
The Jewish State, by Dr. Theodore Herzl, in order to unite all Jews in one holy state. The British were
convinced in 1917 by Chaim Weizmann that all Jews needed their own territory in Palestine, and in
the early 1920s, the British were given a mandate over Palestine by the League of Nations.
Palestinians felt threatened by the rise in Jewish presence in their state, causing widespread fighting in
order to expel Jews from the Arabians sacred Palestinian land. Ben Gurion (also known as a member
to the World Zionist Congress) was leader of the Jewish peoples in 1947, whereas there was no single
leader of the Arabs, there were several influential figures to the cause: Haj Amin el Husseini grand
mufti of Jerusalem, Azzam Pasha secretary general of the Arab League, King Abdullah of Transjordan
only leader open to a Arab Jewish compromise, and Glubb Pasha commander of the British trained
Arab Legion. Along with the views of King Abdullah of Transjordan, there had been talks of a
compromise between the two, of which the Jews were favoring and the Arabs condemned. In 1947,
the United Nations Committee on Palestine (UNSCOP) ordered that Palestine be split into two states
one Jewish, one Palestinian. The US viewed itself as a world role model in the situation. In order for

Application Of Sdn And Its Architectural Principle
Emerging new trends in information and communication technologies domain, in particular mobile,
social, cloud and big data are urging computer networks for high bandwidth, ubiquitous accessibility
and dynamic management. However, traditional approaches based on manual configuration of
patented devices are unmanageable and error prone. Also traditional approaches cannot fully utilize
the capability of the physical network infrastructure and its resources. In response to the
aforementioned requirements of computer networks, one solution would be to make additional
investment in the network. In this paper, we survey the SDN literature and aim at presenting the
definition of SDN and its architectural principle. We also discuss about research ... Show more content

Since 2012, however, many companies have moved away from OpenFlow protocol, and have
embraced different techniques for the purpose of determining the path of network packets across
network switches. These include Cisco Systems Open Network Environment and Nicira s network
virtualization platform. Google had big problems like high financial cost managing their data centers,
delayed caused by rebuilding connection after link failure. Google went ahead and implemented SDN.
In 2013, they built their hardware and wrote their own software and surprised the industries by
announcing that SDN is possible in production. They named it B4, a private WAN connecting Google
s data centers across the planet. B4 has a number of unique characteristics like Massive Bandwidth
requirement, Elastic traffic demands and full control over edge servers and network. We compared the
performance of various workloads between SDN (OpenFlow and ProGFE), running in the user space
of Linux, and non SDN (dedicated application that executes the networking tasks directly, e.g., pure
Linux forwarding) running in the user space (for comparison), and in the kernel space (to explore the
PC potential). The following workloads were examined: IP routing, as a rather simple Forwarding
Element task, and VLAN tagging, which represented a more complicated task for an FE. In order to
evaluate performance, we ignored the indirect

Self-Presentation In Tamburlaine
When language serves as a tool for characterization, two fundamental distinctions must be established:
whether the verbal forms of self presentation remain implicit or explicit and whether the implicit form
of self presentation is voluntary or involuntary. Explicit self presentation occurs when a figure
consciously outlines its picture of itself and this may happen in the context of either monologue or
dialogue. The information received from the character in this way is not objective or trustful and
should be evaluated as elements of a subjectively coloured form of self presentation. In examples of
explicit self presentation within a dialogue, there is a deceiving factor embodied in the strategic
intentions of the speaker who frequently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The praise on Zenocrate shows close affinities with Elizabethan poetic conventions in its structure, in
the repetition of the metrically regular lines in which Zenocrate s name is introduced, and in its
imagery. It is a highly lyrical description it opens with references to nature s participation in
Tamburlaine s feelings, watery cheeks, aire, earth and goes on to speak of Zenocrate s imminent death.
It ends with five parallel visions which show the loving sympathy and grief of the angels, of the

System Thinking Is The Process Of Understanding How Things...
System thinking is the process of understanding how things influence one another within a system.
Russell L. Ackoff, Dr. W. Edwards Deming, and Peter Senge s define, think differently, and have
different approaches of system thinking. Russell L. Ackoff was born on February 12, 1919 in
Philadelphia. He was a pioneer in the field of operations research, systems thinking and management
science. (Russell L. Ackoff) He received his bachelor degree in architecture at the University of
Pennsylvania in 1941. In 1942 to 1946, he served in the U.S. Army. After his return he went on to
study at the University of Pennsylvania, where he received his doctorate in philosophy of science in
1947 as C. West Churchman s first doctoral student. (Russell L. Ackoff) Russell L. Ackoff says the
typical way management has been trained in the western world is to divide any complex system into
parts, and then try to manage each part as best as you can. If these were to be divided into parts we
would believe two things which are any problem can be solved, and the system as a whole will behave
well. Ackoff goes on to say these are false because it s possible to improve the performance of each
part taken separately and destroy the system at the same time. (Production Management: A Total
Quality Management Approach) Ackoff defines a system as a whole containing two or more parts that
contains the five conditions. The first condition is the whole has one or more important properties or
functions. The

Persuasive Essay About Syrian Refugees
The abundance of Syrian immigrants has been a controversial topic due to the recent activity
regarding terrorists. Many countries, such as United States and some European countries, choose not
to accept these Syrian refugees because of the predispositions they have towards them. These
countries fear terrorism, causing them to block off these people from entering their country. However,
the concerns held by these countries are wildly blown out of proportion in accordance to the actual
threat that refugees pose. The Syrian migrants should be welcomed in US and Europe because of
following reasons: the stereotypes that people have on these foreigners are absurd, these people must
be protected from outside forces, and their lifestyle is harmless. Particularly, the stereotypes and pre
existing portrayals of the Syrian refugees is absolutely ridiculous. The countries blocking these
immigrants are, quite fairly, afraid of terrorism. However, these countries greatly overvalue the
opinions of sensationalist media stories, creating a desire to be safe, rather than to be disturbed by
Syrian immigrants (Posner). Trump, our current president, even stated in an address to his supporters
during his campaign that, If [he] win[s], they are going back (Kallick et al.). This mentality is
unacceptable and should not give the President and others the right to alienate these Syrian refugees
because of their personal outlooks on refugees from countries filled with terrorism. Syrian immigrants

The Pain Of Pediatric Pain Management Essay
Pediatric pain management is measured subjectively because it is based off of what the patient says or
how the nurse interprets the pain scale. Pain is rated using different scales, unfortunately these
different scales could yield different results. Nurses are trained to use pediatric pain scales to analyze
and treat pain but parents are not supplied with the tools to manage pain when the patient goes home.
With 84% of all pediatric surgical procedures performed on an outpatient basis, the importance of
teaching parents how to assess for and manage pain has become more important than ever (Rony,
Fortier, Chorney, Perret, Kain, 2010). According to Rony s et al. (2010) study, it is apparent that
pediatric pain is not being treated effectively. The study showed that 58.8% of children were receiving
less than the daily recommended does prescribed by the pediatrician (p.1). Results of the study also
showed that parents had false assessments on if their child was actually in pain. 36% of parents
believed that if their child was in pain, they would cry out for the parent , 30% agreed that their child
would always tell them if they are in pain, while 22% said that the child would report their pain
immediately (Rony, Fortier, Chorney, Perret, Kain, 2010, ). Children do not always verbalize when
they are in pain. Sometimes the pain can be so intense that a child is unable to talk. If the child catches
on to the parents negative perception of pain medications, the child may not

It was only 7 o clock. I took a cold shower, since the time I have been here in this country; I have only

By the chattering and shouting I heard in the morning, seems as though Chris hadn t come back last

he was different, narrow minded and wanted different things, he was still my friend in a way, I think...
Chris s special ops team had tried to search for him all day, but still no clue as to where he would be.
As for me I had been going in around the buildings and saw one of the most horrible sights, which I

not here before. This must have happened last night. Unconsciously, I had started to suspect Chris of
being responsible for something like this.
It was close to midnight, I had searched for Chris all day. It seemed as though he s completely

The World Of A Plane Crash
In September of 2004, Lost first aired on ABC. The drama series about people stranded on an island
after a plane crash, had elements of science fiction that J.J Abrams used to captivate millions every
episode. The series starts by introducing the main characters, Jack and Kate, and their personal
backgrounds leading up to the commercial plane crash. However, as the series progresses, characters
once believed to have little impact in the show, are highlighted in a single episode and shed light on
topics never previously thought about. The 23rd Psalm, the tenth episode in season two, demonstrates
this aspect of the series very well. The science fiction characteristic of the series is toned down to
bring attention to the drug trading in Africa, specifically Nigeria. The 23rd Psalm attempts to inform
people around the world how organized crime in Nigeria has affected the lives of many who live there,
what they have to do to survive, and the sphere of influence drug trafficking has around the world. The
episode begins with Eko (Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje) finding out that Charlie Pace (Dominic
Monaghan) has in his possession a Virgin Mary statue. Eko demands to see the statue only to break in
open and revealing the heroin inside. Eko then demands that Charlie take him to the location where he

adored by many. Ode on Indolence is a poem that can be relatable to its readers due to its idea of how
indolence interferes with life s opportunities, in particular the three mentioned in the poem, love,
ambition and poesy. Keats refers to these three figures as ghosts (51) therefore insinuating that they
once lived, but now they are mere figments of energy and air. Keats poem six stanzas of ten lines each
in iambic pentameter, he begins his poem with a passage from Matthew 6:28, They toil not, neither do
they spin , he uses this as reference for describing the three figures of the poem. In other, simpler
words, he is saying that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Keats identifies the three shadows in the third stanza labeling them as love, who was a maid, ambition,
pale and watchful and the last of the three shadows being poesy, which the speaker identifies as his
demon as well as his love. He also identifies them as maidens, each mild in their own way. Halfway
through the poem, the readers are shown three things that the speaker considers to be his maidens. He
shows his love individually for each of them as well as his dislike that they are there to take away his
peaceful summer, a metaphor that represents that warm weather is about to disappear, or that a
vacation is coming to an end.
The fourth stanza represents the speaker s sudden will for the maidens, as they were all he wanted,
until he decides on reasons as to why he may not need them. This only happens after the speaker
addresses that they faded, and, forsooth, I wanted wings! (31) He gives reason for love and ambition
to be given up on but cannot find a reason for poesy, as it is his favorite of the three. In the fifth stanza
the speaker understands that the figures have no influence on him and indolence is simply the way to
keep, he refers to them and says Oh shadows, twas a time to bid farewell! / Upon your skirts had
fallen no tears of mine (49 50). In the final

The Conflict of the Ethnic Groups
Ethnic groups conflict
Pastoralist Community Initiative And Development Assistance (PACIDA )highlights the insecurity as
a consequence of race for the limited water and pasture in Marsabit area of Kenya (East Africa). Their
report of the situation in Marsabit in 2009 indicated that within Marsabit, security has been a major
problem. Over the past months in the cause of the year, series of cattle rustling and loss of human lives
was quiet frequent, especially in Marsabit. Over range of four month 10 human lives claimed in the
process of raid between the Borans and the Samburus. In fact this has been long outstanding conflict
in the District. This indicates that some of the conflicts are well organized banditry executions. The
different communities organize themselves to go raid others homesteads, particularly from another
ethnic group and get livestock. This occurs majorly during the driest times when livestock die in large
numbers. To restock their herds, the different communities go for raids in the other communities. The
office of the prime minister of Kenya adds that, Security remained precarious for several areas in
larger Marsabit district. Incidences of armed conflicts were reported along Loiyangalani and North
Horr Divisions and along Marsabit and Laisamais district border. These are regions within the
Marsabit District and region.
The frequency of cattle rustling between the Samburu and Isiolo communities in particular raises a lot

Cymothoa Exigua Research Paper
Cymothoa exigua is slowly becoming a widely known crustacean like parasite. Most people tend to
refer to this parasite as the tongue eating louse due to its evasion and reproduction mechanisms. This
parasite is only attracted to fish but most importantly the snapper fish. Cymothoa exigua is known as
protandric hermaphrodites because they begin as males and later in their life cycle they end up
switching sexes. When Cymothoa exigua causes the fish to lose its tongue, it does not entirely affect
the fish in any other way.
Life Cycle/ Reproduction
The life cycle of Cymothoa exigua is unknown but one thing for sure is that they undergo sexual
reproduction. Scientists believe that when the juvenile parasite first attaches to the fish s gills, they

Essay on Belonging
Through analysis and exploration of my chosen text, A Selection of Songs by The Smiths , as well
comparisons linked to Emily Dickinson s set poems, a vast array of representations of belonging have
been discerned. Through an abundance of ideas, and devices used to convey thesis s, the texts provide
variable discourses as to how we can view belonging, exploring the state of belonging, mainly through
its paradoxes. Thus the study of The Smith s songs individually as well as comparatively to Emily
Dickinson has contributed significantly to my understanding of belonging.
The concept of alienation is continually reverted to in the Smiths songs, emphasising the importance
of this paradox to belonging, in the understanding of belonging itself. ... Show more content on

This is similar to the barriers against belonging experienced in the Dickinson texts in relevance to
themes of dislocation to society due to the persona s self sanctioning and alienation. The lyrics I am
Human and I need to be loved emphasise the necessity of human s to belong and it s repetition ads to
the effect of the persona s desperation to achieve this. Morrisey employs contrasting sentences within
the lyrical content such as I am the son and heir , resonating power and control. This is compared with
weaker statements such as of nothing in particular . Its effects establish confusion and lack of self
awareness in the persona. The persona is continually questioned throughout the text in there Self
descriptions, such as criminally vulgar shyness . Personal attributes such as this prevent
companionship, and result in depression and consideration of death. This suggests that it is the persona
s self hatred, and imbalance within that incites his alienation, preventing belonging. The continuous
banshee sounds between verses extends the tormented mind of the persona.
Asleep continues to represent the role of sense of psychic wholeness in being the pathway to
belonging. It does so in complete lack of psychic wholeness and how this fails the persona. Morrisey
employs lyrical content that is sparse yet profound, using sleep as a metaphor for suicide, and
romanticising

Diction In My Papa s Waltz By Theodore Roethke
In the poem My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke, he looks back in his memory as a child and
explains the love he has for his father despite all the flaws his father holds. Roethke describes his
emotions through this poem by using diction, imagery, and the use of tone. In the poem, Roethke uses
diction that shows his emotions towards his father. In the first stanza, the poet says: The whiskey on
your breath Could make a small boy dizzy; But I hung on like death: Such waltzing was not easy.
Even though his father is a drunk he still loves him. He says I hung on like death which emphasizes
the bond he has with his father while they are waltzing together. This also shows a strong sense of
love and affection he has for him. Because his father s breath reeked of whiskey, it was hard for them
to waltz with ease. Also, the poet somewhat describes pain in way as well when he uses the words
battered and scraped in the third stanza. He uses these word battered because he s describing that his
father s hands as worn out and beat up because he probably works really hard at his job which requires
a lot of labor and the description of that word shows the reader that he works hard at what he does.
With the word scraped, this shows pain because when the poet and his father waltz, his right ear
scraped because his father was drunk on the whiskey and it made him a little dizzy and the poet most
likely hit something which scraped his ear. The poet also uses the word romped ; this describes that
the son and the father are having fun together waltzing even though they are being careless as they are
bumping into the pots and pans in the kitchen which annoys the mother as described in the second
stanza in the last two lines.
With the use of imagery, the poet communicates to the reader the emotional bond between the father
and his son. In the first stanza of the poem, the he illustrates a clear picture between the son and the
father. The whiskey on your breath Could make a small boy dizzy But I hung on like death Such
waltzing was not easy. the poet is saying that the father may not be the best father in the world with
his breath smelling like whiskey, but despite that, the son hangs on like death. The simile the poet

The Disagreements Over the Health Effects of Probiotics Essay
Since the year 1965, the term probiotics has been used. Lilly and Stillwell were the first to describe
probiotics as substances secreted by one organism, which stimulated growth of other organisms
(Gupta, 2009). It was however, Elie Metchnikoff in the 1900s who first suggested that there were
health properties in lactic acid bacteria from fermented food products (Anukam, 2007). Since then, the
meaning has undergone some changes, one of the most recent definitions is that probiotics are
beneficial live microorganisms, which must be consumed in a sufficient amount for the desired health
effect (Guarner, 1998). The Food and Agriculture Organisation/World Health Organisation has
adopted this definition but there are many other organisations ... Show more content on

Therefore the bacterium ability to tolerate different pH levels is a crucial factor in determining their
probiotic use. Ability to attach to the gut epithelial cells and adequate production of antimicrobial
substances are also other important properties of probiotics (Granato, 2010). In terms of commercial
use and manufacturing, probiotics must be resilient and maintain cell viability during periods of
processing, packaging and storage (Saarela, 2009).
The number food companies that are now using strains of Lactic acid bacteria and Bifidobacteria in
their food products has increased considerably and it is now diary probiotic products that are making
between 60% 70% of the functional food market (Mohammadi, 2012). Fermented milk and yogurt
beverages are the main source of probiotics in supermarkets but there are also capsule and powder
formations in addition. The popularity of these products has increased due to the number of
documented benefits of consuming probiotic bacteria and support from media and marketing.
The documented health and nutritional benefits from consumption of probiotic food products show
alleviating gastrointestinal problems and many other health benefits (Granato, 2010). Various
randomised controlled trials have shown that in children with acute diarrhoea, probiotics has reduced
the duration of diarrhoea by reducing stool frequency. It has shown to be a safe intervention however

Trials And Tribulations In Mental Health
It has been noted by many that it is important for us to understand that the present is directly
influenced by the past and it will directly influence the future. If we are to ignore the events that have
led us to where we are then we are destined to repeat our often tragic and ill fated past. We also have
no way of truly making a difference in the field of mental health if we are unable to build upon both
the successes and the failures of those who have come before us (Gerig, 2014). This paper examines
some of the literature written to detail the trials and tribulations in the mental health field from the
early Greek times to present day in the hopes of gaining some perspective on both the past and the

Nothing affects student achievement more than an effective classroom teacher. So, school
administrators must be diligent in their search for qualified teachers, and more importantly, utilize a
selection interview process that identifies the most qualified candidate or whether or not the candidate
truly wants the job. When hiring teachers, the goal is to find the most effective and highly qualified
candidates and to do this certain qualities and traits must be prevalent. As M. Mark Wasicsko stated,
Most teachers who do not succeed fail because they do not have the right dispositions (2004).
According to Dictionary.com, disposition is the predominant or prevailing tendency of one s spirits;
natural mental and emotional outlook or mood; characteristic attitude (2016). With this focus, certain
characteristics about Ms. Morrison s disposition can be identified in this case study.
As the candidate for a middle school physical education position, Ms. Morrison has some areas of
strength that could be beneficial and assist her in the teaching position. First, she worked her way up
from a sales clerk to store manager and never took leave from work for longer than 2 days, which
demonstrates hard work and dedication in her job. Ms. Morrison also had a great deal of experience

The Civil War And The Emancipation Proclamation Essay
Life for was harsh and arduous following up towards gaining freedom and after becoming a liberated
for many African Americans during the 19th century. But soon after the political, social, and economic
effects of slaves getting their freedoms back many bills or propositions were made to oppose the
reform movement. The context of the time period was pre civil war and during the early 19th century
where many large movements in religion, economy and social class were taking place and coming to

also the time period where many people in began to view slavery as an inhumane practice, a good
chunk of the people who opposed slavery were usually in the northern part of the united states and
were civil rights activists. The Fugitive Slave Acts were a pair of federal laws that allowed for the
capture and return of runaway slaves within the territory of the United States. Enacted by Congress in
1793, the first Fugitive Slave Act authorized local governments to seize and return escaped slaves to
their owners and imposed penalties on anyone who aided in their flight. Widespread resistance to the
1793 law later led to the passage of the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850, which added further provisions
regarding runaways and levied even harsher punishments for interfering in their capture. The Fugitive
Slave Acts were among the most controversial laws of the early 19th century, and many Northern

The Lifecycle of a Star Essay
There are more stars than all of the grains of sand on earth. (Star Facts, 2005:1)
Looking up at the sky on a vibrant night, the vision is naturally lit one with millions of vivacious,
glistening stars. The tenacity of this essay is to explore the lifecycle of a star, thence, signify its
manifestation in the universe. A fundamental part of our universe is stars. Hence, these miniature
luminous forms are essentially very immense in magnitude and it is merely due to their substantial
distance from Earth that they appear so trivial. Scientifically, a star is a ball of hydrogen and helium

The transportation of energy from the core of the protostar to the visible surface layer of the star
begins in a circular motion (as a gas). As a result, this stage connects the gas temperature inside the
protostar to the gas density this enables it to have a polytropic structure. As a protostar emits, it
shrinks in scope to produce the energy that replaces the discharged energy. This shrinkage increases
both the self gravity and pressure at the protostar s core correspondingly. This balance produces a
connection between the temperature of the protostar and the gravitational resistance of the star.
Eventually, as the radius of the star shrinks, the temperature will surge to the factor that it reduces,
thus, its density will further increase. However, the visible layer of the star doesn t become affected in
terms of increase in temperature because its location is set by the skill of light to spontaneously escape
from it. Thence, the protostar begins to become more opaque, less luminous, and as an outcome the
radiation of light decreases. It takes a long time for the star to reach its main sequence because the
decreasing luminosity and the increasing thermal energy cause the rate of shrinkage to slow
dramatically. Therefore, the protostar begins its brief life as a charismatic star that diminishes in lustre
on a timescale of hundreds of years. As years goes by, the

was a literal, historical event. , one must remember that in the minds of Christians, not only is it a
comfort that there is something after death, but also an answer to both of the previous questions; yes,
there is life after death and; yes, the purpose is to follow the Christian belief and eventually spend
eternity in heaven with God after death. I ask you to keep this in mind when reading the rest of this
essay, for man s fear of death is complex and ongoing.
The biggest problems and the four components of the resurrection
There are four components to the resurrection; the appearances after death, the verb to be , the empty
tomb and the passages in the bible. All of these components have meaning to them, however with this
meaning comes problems. For example, the verb to be in the quote he is risen (Matthew 28:6) is a
historical present, however the problem is that the verb may have been changed during translation
over the past two thousand years causing doubt in its literal meaning. This links to another component,
literature; when looking at Christianity s belief in the resurrection of Jesus, the bible is our main
source. Just like the verb to be , some of the

The Purpose Of An OSI Model
What is the purpose of an OSI model? The purpose of an OSI model is a standard that was created for
networks to share information. This standard governs the way information is transmitted over different
networks. The model also sets guidelines to those in the manufacturing industry that create and
develop software and hardware that are all compatible with each other.
This paper will discuss and describe the 7 layers of the Open System Interconnection model (OSI
model) and the layers of the Transport Control Protocol/Internet Protocol model (TCP/IP model), and
explain the similarities and differences of each model.
The 7 layers of the OSI model consist of: The Application layer (layer 7), The Presentation layer
(layer 6), The Session ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Transport layer
Transport layers exist in both TCP/IP and OSI model. Even though both models have Transport layers
they differ. The TCP/IP model consist of two standard transport protocols: Transmission Control
Protocol (TCP) and User Datagram Protocol (UDP). TCP uses a reliable data stream protocol which is
connected oriented and UDP uses a unreliable data stream protocol which is connectionless oriented.
The Internet layer
The Internet layer is a group of protocols and specifications that are used to transport packets from the
host across a network, the host specified by a network address (IP address)
The Link layer
The lower level layer of the TCP/IP model, this layer is used by a suite of protocols for the Internet .
This is used to connect hosts or nodes to a network. This layer is compared to the Data Link layer and
Physical layer of the OSI model.
TCP/IP Application Layer VS OSI Application, Presentation and Session layer.
The similarities in both models are comparable but different at the same time. All though they exist in
both, the approach each uses to construct applications is different. In the OSI model the Application
layer, Presentation layer and Session layer correspond to the Application layer of the TCP/IP model.
They somewhat do the same job but use different protocols, TCP/IP uses: FTP, SMTP, TELNET, DNS
and SNMP where the OSI model uses: FTAM, VT, MHS,

The Effects Of Water Pollution
Pollution is a term applied to any environmental state or manifestation which is harmful or unpleasant
to life, resulting from failure to achieve or maintain control over the chemical, physical or biological
consequences or side effects of human scientific, industrial and social habits (Feugo, 2008; Anderson
et al., 2005). From another perspective, water pollution refers to any physical, biological or chemical
change in water quality that adversely affects living organisms and makes water unsuitable for desired
uses as a result of anthropogenic activities (Cunningham and Saigo, 2003; Anderson et al., 2005).
Many human activities from water supply and sanitation to transport, mining and the chemical
industry have the potential to pollute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other tests are not rapid, making consumers of water susceptible to waterborne diseases. In this study,
dye doped, surface functionalized silica nanoparticles (SiNP) and surface functionalized magnetic
nanocomposites (MNCs) were proposed as materials that can be applied in order to reduce the time
taken to get results as well as to make the processes less complex and portable. The aim of this study
was to synthesize and characterize surface functionalized dye doped SiNPs and surface functionalized
MNCs for detection and pre concentration of in water (Mahlangu, 2016), Yi et al., (2011) and
Gasteiger et al., (2005) also revealed the use of (SiNP) and (MNCs) in detection and pre
concentration. Faecal coli form and E. coli contaminations in effluent dominated streams
The study assessed the water quality of the upper Santa Cruz watershed in southern Arizona in terms
of faecal coli form and Escherichia coli bacteria concentrations discharged as treated effluent and from
nonpoint sources into the Santa Cruz River and surrounding tributaries. The objectives were to (1)
assess the quality in the upper Santa Cruz Watershed in terms of faecal coli form and E. coli by
campaign available data to the water quality criteria established by Arizona, (2) to provide insights
into faecal indicator bacteria (FBI) response to the hydrology of the watershed and (3) to identify if

Paper On Pink Culture
The experience of breast cancer today is different of any other illness. Pink culture and has shaped the
nature of breast cancer activism along with the experience of breast cancer for the rising number of
women diagnosed with the disease and can be seen in a variety of ways. First, looking at how
corporations have effectively drained and deflected meaningful activism through the pink washing and
commodification of breast cancer shows how easy it is to overlook the real issues with nice packaging
and presentation. Building on this culture, there are reinforced gendered expectations regarding how
women are expected to deal with the illness; disallowing expressions of suffering that would typically
be associated with a life threatening disease. Finally, the way breast cancer activism and the
experience of the disease have been framed has created a detrimental survivor discourse, which has
done little to actually empower women with breast cancer. These phenomena, as seen in the film Pink
Ribbons, Inc. and beyond, show how pink culture has become a distraction from meaningful progress
by creating a superficial sense of awareness and activism though marketing and commodification.
There is deep irony in the fact that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mystery of the disease and lack of adequate resources going into understanding and solving it is a
call for militant activism, but that isn t pretty or womanly or digestible to consumers (Din Pool, 2011).
Even though the experience of breast cancer is not at all pretty, it has been extremely effective for
companies, able to sell awareness and present the disease in this gendered way. This has not come
without consequences, on individuals and the breast cancer community as a

Taking a Look at Myocardial Infraction
Around every thirty four seconds in the United States, another individual falls as a victim to a
myocardial infraction. A myocardial infraction or more commonly known as a heart attack, occurs
when the blood flow that brings the oxygen to the heart is reduced or cut off completely. When the
blood cannot reach parts of your heart, that area is becoming damaged or unfortunately if treatment is
prolonged for too long then the heart cells will most likely die. Heart attacks can occur in anybody no
matter the age, gender, or nationality, but statistically men over the age of 45 and to women over the
age of 55 are at the greatest risk of a heart attack (Ricciotti). In the 1800s George Ebers discovered an
ancient Egyptian scroll that has been dated back to around 1500 B.C. On the scroll that Ebers found, it
listed many things about the heart and how it worked. It also showed Ebers that the Egyptians were
able to identify certain symptoms of heart attacks, as well. The scroll that he found showed us how
much the ancient Egyptians actually knew about heart related diseases, despite the technology
differences that we have today compared to what they had. A man named Edwin Smith discovered
another scroll dating back to the 17th century. The scroll that Smith found held evidence of multiple
surgeries that were performed, including heart surgeries. This proves that the real discoverers of heart
related illnesses in fact dates back all the way to the times of the ancient Egyptians.

St. James Hospital Department Of Human Resources
Franciscan St. James Hospital Department of Human Resources Most organizations view human
resources departments as less valuable than other departments because it s not a revenue generating
department. However, it is quite the opposite because HR brings the organization its most valuable
assets, which are its people.
Since its birth in November of 1911, Franciscan St. James (Franciscan) has evolved tremendously.
Over the years, it has expanded from a 50 bed acute hospital into one with two campus locations
including Chicago Heights and Olympia Fields, IL (Franciscan Alliance Inc., 2015). Rich in both
religion and compassion, Franciscan is built on strong ethics and morals. Its mission is to continue

several services for women and children are delivered along with emergency, diagnostic, outpatient
therapy, home health, ambulance and EMS, and family care, as well as durable medical equipment

on the services rendered. The hospital emergency room services operate 24 hours 7 days per week.
However, the human resources department has standard business operation hours of 8 a.m. 5:00 p.m.

The professionals who occupy positions within St. James and are trusted to carry out the mission and
values can be tied directly back to the Department of Human Resources.
Accreditations and Credentials The HR department ensures that the various departments within the
hospital are current with all laws, regulations, accreditations, and policies. There are a number of

Essay Electable or Not, Trump is Good for America
There are seven hopefuls who are likely going to formally announce their candidacy for the
Republican presidential nomination in 2012, within the next week and many more who are
contemplating a run. None of them invoke an emotional, if not polarizing response quite like The
Donald. It is early yet, but the only Republican hopeful who has broken from the reserved, almost
polite rhetoric of the early stump speeches in Iowa and New Hampshire, and the government as usual
policy discussions on the Sunday media carousel, has been Donald Trump. By removing the shackles
of political correctness and media speak, Mr. Trump tossed a few verbal hand grenades into the throng
of Obama friendly, group think media sycophants, who were waiting ... Show more content on

The subject of President Obama s birth certificate has been mostly off limits for those who wish to
avoid the wrath of the Obama friendly media. Refreshingly, Trump is facing the Obama media head
on, with his questions about why the president has spent so much money and time keeping his birth
certificate, college records, and health records from the public eye. Trump not only asks these
questions of the president, but he asks mainstream reporters why they have not been the least bit
interested in vetting Barack Obama as thoroughly as they have other presidential candidates. With
Donald Trump the best defense is a good offense, and that is a strategy the other Republican hopefuls
had better understand this time. Why is the Tea Party now playing such a vital role in American
Politics? Its members are angry and fed up with both parties they have reached a tipping point on the
size of the Federal Government. They have grown tired of politicians playing footsie with the media,
and they are tired of politicians compromising on the future of this once great nation. Trump echoes
these concerns better than the so called frontrunners; he

  • 2. What Is The Moral Satire In The Mysterious Outsider In the Mark Twain story The Mysterious Stranger , Philip Traum, also known as Satan, teaches Theodor that the Moral Sense that humans possess is more of an impairment than a gift. The first time Satan degrades Man s Moral Sense is when he uses the term to explain the difference between himself and Man. Theodor, who was ambivalent about what the Moral Sense was, became upset at the way Satan speaks of it. Theodor feels offended at first, but then Satan s charisma and tricks gives Theodore mixed feelings. To sway Theodor s feelings, Satan shows Theodor several examples of the cruel things Man does that no other animal on Earth would do. Satan makes the claim that although man was given the Moral Sense to differentiate between right and wrong, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, Satan compares humans to sheep, and says that they mostly follow others and tend to follow the aggressive and pitiless minority, afraid to assert themselves. Man s Moral Sense leads him to follow others since he has the preconceived notion that if everyone does it, then it must be the right thing to do. He explains that Man alone is kind hearted and shrink from inflicting pain, but in the presence of the aggressive and pitiless minority they don t dare to assert themselves. He says that we go to war for no apparent reason and it is unjust and dishonorable, as there is no necessity for it , but Moral Sense drives us to it. Satan exclaims that Man is to me as a red spider is to an elephant . He says that an elephant may live a century, while a red spider s life is rather ephemeral. Man may think that Moral sense makes him above the other animals, and closest to God, but Satan explains Man is nothing to him and he cannot get to that remote level of Man. Satan also makes the claim that the distinction between Man and him is immeasurable as Man has no intellect. Moral Sense drives Man to do immoral things, making him libel the higher ... • 3. We Must Keep Your Computer Safer Introduction There are simple steps that can be taken to make your computer safer. Every computer connected to a network is at risk of being attacked, but knowledge of each threat that can occur and knowing how to minimize your security risk can help in the setup of a new computer and the ones that you already have. With knowing how to prevent your computer from being attacked will help you in setting up accounts for social media as well because you will be able to tell what and who is harmful to your account. Threats and Vulnerabilities Though it has been some years since I have set up a Twitter account it hasn t been the last time I ve set up a social network account. I had created one for the purpose of my YouTube Channel. The signup process was easy even putting pictures or basic information on the page. They asked my interest as to gage what I would want to see on my timeline. Then proceed to make a suggestion list of people I may want to follow based off how I answered or selected what or who I m interested in. As time went on I ve only followed accounts that I may already follow on my original twitter account. No complaints here on that process. The list of suggestions grew once I befriended my original page. No complaints here on that process. To create your account, you will have to be at least 13 years old, with a valid phone number and email. Thoreacic Aortic Aneurysm Research Paper Imagine a main water pipe, one that supplies a major city and all outlying communities with their main water supply; suddenly that pipe bursts and floods the entire area and all cities. The devastation is felt for miles away. This is what happens when a Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm occurs in a patient. The Cleveland Clinic states that thoracic aortic aneurysms affect more than 15,000 people in the United States, every year. From those 15,000 only about twenty to thirty percent of patients, who made it to the hospital, survive from the aneurysm. That is only 3000 to 4500 people; the others will usually need some type of treatment to help them live a longer life. • 5. Discussion of the Importance of Multilingualism Among Yout... Language is a system of representation that enables us to encode and convey meaning through the production and combination of signs. (Neves, 2011) Multilingualism can, therefore, be described as a person s capability to maintain and practice two or more languages in an environment. This concept is quite commonly seen throughout South Africa as there is a total of eleven official languages. These languages are critical in today s youth as they are exposed to a culturally diverse society which enables them to broaden their thinking in every day life. Language within societies can be broken down into two categories, namely Linguistic Determinism and Linguistic Relativism. Linguistic Determinism proposes that different languages incorporate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the years of language acquisition, the brain stores linguistic information but it also adapts to the grammatical predictabilities of language. (Sakai, 2005) It is classified under Cognitive Psychology and this development builds and enhances a child s communication skills in their schooling careers. However, if children attend parallel medium schooling, they are likely never to learn and use one language. They will be able to speak and write in both languages which is a positive aspect but they may never have the full vocabulary or grammar rules as they are too busy learning both languages instead of concentrating fully on one. The positive aspects of multilingualism outweighs the negatives as being bilingual broadens one s opportunities in schooling, especially in tertiary education, as well as one day when they are in search of jobs. A person is that much more employable and more likely to be successful if they are able to participate and communicate effectively in a growing and changing work environment. Multilingualism can be seen as a vitally important factor amongst young South Africans as there is a constant change occurring in the schooling and work environments. The drastic change from Apartheid to the diverse and inclusive society today, where all languages are accepted and recognised in South Africa s legislation, is the grounding and ... Sexual abuse is when one person dominates and exploits another person by the means of suggestion or sexual activity. This form of abuse continues to pose serious and pervasive mental health complications to the victim and their family. There is increasing documentation that a child and adolescent victims of sexual abuse and their non offending parents and siblings are in need of mental health services (Putnam, 2003). Majority of sexual abuse occurs during childhood; however, incest is the most common form of sexual abuse. The counselor must understand that child sexual abuse goes beyond touching and must be aware there is many forms of sexual abuse to a child. The perpetrator can exploit a child by assaulting them through the internet, introducing a child to pornography, or convince the child to take inappropriate pictures. The severity of the sexual act may cause more serious impact, several other factors may influence the degree of damage to the survivor s experiences. • 9. Messenger Protein Synthesis Genes are transcribed to yield one of three types of RNA. These RNA types include messenger RNA (mRNA), transfer RNA (tRNA), and ribosomal RNA (rRNA). Messenger RNA carries the genetic instructions needed to manufacture polypeptides. Messenger RNA is absolutely necessary, because genes cannot leave the nucleus. They pass their information to mRNA, which transports that information to the cytoplasm, where protein synthesis occurs at the ribosome. Protein synthesis is the manufacturing of functional polypeptides in the cytoplasm. Protein synthesis occurs through the process of translation. Translation is the formation of a chain of amino acids by using the instructions a messenger RNA strand provides. This process takes place at the ribosome. The codons of an mRNA strand carry the instructions in triplets of bases of the coding strand of the gene. Each codon encodes a specific amino acid to be installed into the growing polypeptide chain. During translation, the sequence of codons will dictate the sequence of amino acids in the protein. The amino acids are delivered to the ribosome by transfer RNA, a fairly small and mobile type of RNA. Each transfer RNA molecule attaches and transports a specific amino acid. ... Approximately midway along its length, the polynucleotide chain of tRNA forms a loop, called the anticodon loop. This loop contains 3 bases that can pair complementarily with an appropriate codon in the mRNA. The nucleotide sequence of the anticodon dictates the type of amino acid transported by the transfer RNA. • 11. History of the Founding of Israel During World War II, millions of Jews fled from Germany to escape the brutality of Adolf Hitler. A Zionist movement established that all Jewish refugees were to flee to Palestine, a concept founded by The Jewish State, by Dr. Theodore Herzl, in order to unite all Jews in one holy state. The British were convinced in 1917 by Chaim Weizmann that all Jews needed their own territory in Palestine, and in the early 1920s, the British were given a mandate over Palestine by the League of Nations. Palestinians felt threatened by the rise in Jewish presence in their state, causing widespread fighting in order to expel Jews from the Arabians sacred Palestinian land. Ben Gurion (also known as a member to the World Zionist Congress) was leader of the Jewish peoples in 1947, whereas there was no single leader of the Arabs, there were several influential figures to the cause: Haj Amin el Husseini grand mufti of Jerusalem, Azzam Pasha secretary general of the Arab League, King Abdullah of Transjordan only leader open to a Arab Jewish compromise, and Glubb Pasha commander of the British trained Arab Legion. Along with the views of King Abdullah of Transjordan, there had been talks of a compromise between the two, of which the Jews were favoring and the Arabs condemned. Application Of Sdn And Its Architectural Principle Emerging new trends in information and communication technologies domain, in particular mobile, social, cloud and big data are urging computer networks for high bandwidth, ubiquitous accessibility and dynamic management. Also traditional approaches cannot fully utilize the capability of the physical network infrastructure and its resources. Self-Presentation In Tamburlaine When language serves as a tool for characterization, two fundamental distinctions must be established: whether the verbal forms of self presentation remain implicit or explicit and whether the implicit form of self presentation is voluntary or involuntary. Explicit self presentation occurs when a figure consciously outlines its picture of itself and this may happen in the context of either monologue or dialogue. The information received from the character in this way is not objective or trustful and should be evaluated as elements of a subjectively coloured form of self presentation. He was a pioneer in the field of operations research, systems thinking and management science. (Russell L. Ackoff) He received his bachelor degree in architecture at the University of Pennsylvania in 1941. In 1942 to 1946, he served in the U.S. Army. After his return he went on to study at the University of Pennsylvania, where he received his doctorate in philosophy of science in 1947 as C. West Churchman s first doctoral student. (Russell L. Ackoff) Russell L. Ackoff says the typical way management has been trained in the western world is to divide any complex system into parts, and then try to manage each part as best as you can. If these were to be divided into parts we would believe two things which are any problem can be solved, and the system as a whole will behave well. Ackoff goes on to say these are false because it s possible to improve the performance of each part taken separately and destroy the system at the same time. Many countries, such as United States and some European countries, choose not to accept these Syrian refugees because of the predispositions they have towards them. These countries fear terrorism, causing them to block off these people from entering their country. However, the concerns held by these countries are wildly blown out of proportion in accordance to the actual threat that refugees pose. The Syrian migrants should be welcomed in US and Europe because of following reasons: the stereotypes that people have on these foreigners are absurd, these people must be protected from outside forces, and their lifestyle is harmless. Particularly, the stereotypes and pre existing portrayals of the Syrian refugees is absolutely ridiculous. The countries blocking these immigrants are, quite fairly, afraid of terrorism. However, these countries greatly overvalue the opinions of sensationalist media stories, creating a desire to be safe, rather than to be disturbed by Syrian immigrants (Posner). Trump, our current president, even stated in an address to his supporters during his campaign that, If [he] win[s], they are going back (Kallick et al.). This mentality is unacceptable and should not give the President and others the right to alienate these Syrian refugees because of their personal outlooks on refugees from countries filled with terrorism. Pain is rated using different scales, unfortunately these different scales could yield different results. Nurses are trained to use pediatric pain scales to analyze and treat pain but parents are not supplied with the tools to manage pain when the patient goes home. With 84% of all pediatric surgical procedures performed on an outpatient basis, the importance of teaching parents how to assess for and manage pain has become more important than ever (Rony, Fortier, Chorney, Perret, Kain, 2010). According to Rony s et al. (2010) study, it is apparent that pediatric pain is not being treated effectively. The study showed that 58.8% of children were receiving less than the daily recommended does prescribed by the pediatrician (p.1). Results of the study also showed that parents had false assessments on if their child was actually in pain. 36% of parents believed that if their child was in pain, they would cry out for the parent , 30% agreed that their child would always tell them if they are in pain, while 22% said that the child would report their pain immediately (Rony, Fortier, Chorney, Perret, Kain, 2010, ). Chris s special ops team had tried to search for him all day, but still no clue as to where he would be. If I had remembered correctly, this had been the route I had taken to come to the air base. These bodies were not here before. This must have happened last night. Unconsciously, I had started to suspect Chris of being responsible for something like this. It was close to midnight, I had searched for Chris all day. • 20. The World Of A Plane Crash In September of 2004, Lost first aired on ABC. The drama series about people stranded on an island after a plane crash, had elements of science fiction that J.J Abrams used to captivate millions every episode. The series starts by introducing the main characters, Jack and Kate, and their personal backgrounds leading up to the commercial plane crash. However, as the series progresses, characters once believed to have little impact in the show, are highlighted in a single episode and shed light on topics never previously thought about. The 23rd Psalm, the tenth episode in season two, demonstrates this aspect of the series very well. The science fiction characteristic of the series is toned down to bring attention to the drug trading in Africa, specifically Nigeria. The 23rd Psalm attempts to inform people around the world how organized crime in Nigeria has affected the lives of many who live there, what they have to do to survive, and the sphere of influence drug trafficking has around the world. The episode begins with Eko (Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje) finding out that Charlie Pace (Dominic Monaghan) has in his possession a Virgin Mary statue. Eko demands to see the statue only to break in open and revealing the heroin inside. Eko then demands that Charlie take him to the location where he found the statue, which happens to be a small plane crash site farther inland on the island. • 21. Essay about John Keats s Ode to Indolence John Keats has many memorable and distinct poems. He is well known for his ability to write and adored by many. Ode on Indolence is a poem that can be relatable to its readers due to its idea of how indolence interferes with life s opportunities, in particular the three mentioned in the poem, love, ambition and poesy. Keats refers to these three figures as ghosts (51) therefore insinuating that they once lived, but now they are mere figments of energy and air. Keats poem six stanzas of ten lines each in iambic pentameter, he begins his poem with a passage from Matthew 6:28, They toil not, neither do they spin , he uses this as reference for describing the three figures of the poem. In other, simpler words, he is saying that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Keats identifies the three shadows in the third stanza labeling them as love, who was a maid, ambition, pale and watchful and the last of the three shadows being poesy, which the speaker identifies as his demon as well as his love. He also identifies them as maidens, each mild in their own way. Halfway through the poem, the readers are shown three things that the speaker considers to be his maidens. He shows his love individually for each of them as well as his dislike that they are there to take away his peaceful summer, a metaphor that represents that warm weather is about to disappear, or that a vacation is coming to an end. The fourth stanza represents the speaker s sudden will for the maidens, as they were all he wanted, until he decides on reasons as to why he may not need them. This only happens after the speaker addresses that they faded, and, forsooth, I wanted wings! (31) He gives reason for love and ambition to be given up on but cannot find a reason for poesy, as it is his favorite of the three. In the fifth stanza the speaker understands that the figures have no influence on him and indolence is simply the way to keep, he refers to them and says Oh shadows, twas a time to bid farewell! / Upon your skirts had fallen no tears of mine (49 50). Essay on Belonging Through analysis and exploration of my chosen text, A Selection of Songs by The Smiths , as well comparisons linked to Emily Dickinson s set poems, a vast array of representations of belonging have been discerned. Through an abundance of ideas, and devices used to convey thesis s, the texts provide variable discourses as to how we can view belonging, exploring the state of belonging, mainly through its paradoxes. Thus the study of The Smith s songs individually as well as comparatively to Emily Dickinson has contributed significantly to my understanding of belonging. This is similar to the barriers against belonging experienced in the Dickinson texts in relevance to themes of dislocation to society due to the persona s self sanctioning and alienation. The lyrics I am Human and I need to be loved emphasise the necessity of human s to belong and it s repetition ads to the effect of the persona s desperation to achieve this. Morrisey employs contrasting sentences within the lyrical content such as I am the son and heir , resonating power and control. This is compared with weaker statements such as of nothing in particular . Its effects establish confusion and lack of self awareness in the persona. The persona is continually questioned throughout the text in there Self descriptions, such as criminally vulgar shyness . Personal attributes such as this prevent companionship, and result in depression and consideration of death. This suggests that it is the persona s self hatred, and imbalance within that incites his alienation, preventing belonging. • 25. Diction In My Papa s Waltz By Theodore Roethke In the poem My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke, he looks back in his memory as a child and explains the love he has for his father despite all the flaws his father holds. Roethke describes his emotions through this poem by using diction, imagery, and the use of tone. In the poem, Roethke uses diction that shows his emotions towards his father. In the first stanza, the poet says: The whiskey on your breath Could make a small boy dizzy; But I hung on like death: Such waltzing was not easy. Even though his father is a drunk he still loves him. He says I hung on like death which emphasizes the bond he has with his father while they are waltzing together. This also shows a strong sense of love and affection he has for him. Because his father s breath reeked of whiskey, it was hard for them to waltz with ease. Also, the poet somewhat describes pain in way as well when he uses the words battered and scraped in the third stanza. He uses these word battered because he s describing that his father s hands as worn out and beat up because he probably works really hard at his job which requires a lot of labor and the description of that word shows the reader that he works hard at what he does. With the word scraped, this shows pain because when the poet and his father waltz, his right ear scraped because his father was drunk on the whiskey and it made him a little dizzy and the poet most likely hit something which scraped his ear. The poet also uses the word romped ; this describes that the son and the father are having fun together waltzing even though they are being careless as they are bumping into the pots and pans in the kitchen which annoys the mother as described in the second stanza in the last two lines. With the use of imagery, the poet communicates to the reader the emotional bond between the father and his son. In the first stanza of the poem, the he illustrates a clear picture between the son and the father. The whiskey on your breath Could make a small boy dizzy But I hung on like death Such waltzing was not easy. the poet is saying that the father may not be the best father in the world with his breath smelling like whiskey, but despite that, the son hangs on like death. It was however, Elie Metchnikoff in the 1900s who first suggested that there were health properties in lactic acid bacteria from fermented food products (Anukam, 2007). • 42. The Lifecycle of a Star Essay There are more stars than all of the grains of sand on earth. (Star Facts, 2005:1) Looking up at the sky on a vibrant night, the vision is naturally lit one with millions of vivacious, glistening stars. The tenacity of this essay is to explore the lifecycle of a star, thence, signify its manifestation in the universe. A fundamental part of our universe is stars. Hence, these miniature luminous forms are essentially very immense in magnitude and it is merely due to their substantial distance from Earth that they appear so trivial. Scientifically, a star is a ball of hydrogen and helium with sufficient mass that it can endure nuclear mixture at its core. A huge, shining ball of plasma, whose lustre is an outcome of thermonuclear fusion are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The transportation of energy from the core of the protostar to the visible surface layer of the star begins in a circular motion (as a gas). As a result, this stage connects the gas temperature inside the protostar to the gas density this enables it to have a polytropic structure. As a protostar emits, it shrinks in scope to produce the energy that replaces the discharged energy. This shrinkage increases both the self gravity and pressure at the protostar s core correspondingly. This balance produces a connection between the temperature of the protostar and the gravitational resistance of the star. Eventually, as the radius of the star shrinks, the temperature will surge to the factor that it reduces, thus, its density will further increase. However, the visible layer of the star doesn t become affected in terms of increase in temperature because its location is set by the skill of light to spontaneously escape from it. Thence, the protostar begins to become more opaque, less luminous, and as an outcome the radiation of light decreases. It takes a long time for the star to reach its main sequence because the decreasing luminosity and the increasing thermal energy cause the rate of shrinkage to slow dramatically. Therefore, the protostar begins its brief life as a charismatic star that diminishes in lustre on a timescale of hundreds of years. As years goes by, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Resurrection Of Jesus Was A Literal, Historical Event For thousands of years, man has wondered about life and death. Questions such as What is there after death? and Do I have a purpose on this planet? have plagued countless people. When looking at the statement in question, It is not necessary for Christian faith to believe that the resurrection of Jesus was a literal, historical event. , one must remember that in the minds of Christians, not only is it a comfort that there is something after death, but also an answer to both of the previous questions; yes, there is life after death and; yes, the purpose is to follow the Christian belief and eventually spend eternity in heaven with God after death. I ask you to keep this in mind when reading the rest of this essay, for man s fear of death is complex and ongoing. The biggest problems and the four components of the resurrection There are four components to the resurrection; the appearances after death, the verb to be , the empty tomb and the passages in the bible. All of these components have meaning to them, however with this meaning comes problems. For example, the verb to be in the quote he is risen (Matthew 28:6) is a historical present, however the problem is that the verb may have been changed during translation over the past two thousand years causing doubt in its literal meaning. This links to another component, literature; when looking at Christianity s belief in the resurrection of Jesus, the bible is our main source. Just like the verb to be , some of the ... • 44. The Purpose Of An OSI Model What is the purpose of an OSI model? The purpose of an OSI model is a standard that was created for networks to share information. This standard governs the way information is transmitted over different networks. The model also sets guidelines to those in the manufacturing industry that create and develop software and hardware that are all compatible with each other. This paper will discuss and describe the 7 layers of the Open System Interconnection model (OSI model) and the layers of the Transport Control Protocol/Internet Protocol model (TCP/IP model), and explain the similarities and differences of each model. The 7 layers of the OSI model consist of: The Application layer (layer 7), The Presentation layer (layer 6), The Session ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Transport layer Transport layers exist in both TCP/IP and OSI model. Even though both models have Transport layers they differ. The TCP/IP model consist of two standard transport protocols: Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and User Datagram Protocol (UDP). TCP uses a reliable data stream protocol which is connected oriented and UDP uses a unreliable data stream protocol which is connectionless oriented. The Internet layer The Internet layer is a group of protocols and specifications that are used to transport packets from the host across a network, the host specified by a network address (IP address) The Link layer The lower level layer of the TCP/IP model, this layer is used by a suite of protocols for the Internet . This is used to connect hosts or nodes to a network. This layer is compared to the Data Link layer and Physical layer of the OSI model. TCP/IP Application Layer VS OSI Application, Presentation and Session layer. The similarities in both models are comparable but different at the same time. All though they exist in both, the approach each uses to construct applications is different. In the OSI model the Application layer, Presentation layer and Session layer correspond to the Application layer of the TCP/IP model. They somewhat do the same job but use different protocols, TCP/IP uses: FTP, SMTP, TELNET, DNS and SNMP where the OSI model uses: FTAM, VT, MHS, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The Effects Of Water Pollution Pollution is a term applied to any environmental state or manifestation which is harmful or unpleasant to life, resulting from failure to achieve or maintain control over the chemical, physical or biological consequences or side effects of human scientific, industrial and social habits (Feugo, 2008; Anderson et al., 2005). From another perspective, water pollution refers to any physical, biological or chemical change in water quality that adversely affects living organisms and makes water unsuitable for desired uses as a result of anthropogenic activities (Cunningham and Saigo, 2003; Anderson et al., 2005). • 46. Paper On Pink Culture The experience of breast cancer today is different of any other illness. Pink culture and has shaped the nature of breast cancer activism along with the experience of breast cancer for the rising number of women diagnosed with the disease and can be seen in a variety of ways. First, looking at how corporations have effectively drained and deflected meaningful activism through the pink washing and commodification of breast cancer shows how easy it is to overlook the real issues with nice packaging and presentation. Building on this culture, there are reinforced gendered expectations regarding how women are expected to deal with the illness; disallowing expressions of suffering that would typically be associated with a life threatening disease. Finally, the way breast cancer activism and the experience of the disease have been framed has created a detrimental survivor discourse, which has done little to actually empower women with breast cancer. These phenomena, as seen in the film Pink Ribbons, Inc. and beyond, show how pink culture has become a distraction from meaningful progress by creating a superficial sense of awareness and activism though marketing and commodification. There is deep irony in the fact that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 47. Taking a Look at Myocardial Infraction Around every thirty four seconds in the United States, another individual falls as a victim to a myocardial infraction. A myocardial infraction or more commonly known as a heart attack, occurs when the blood flow that brings the oxygen to the heart is reduced or cut off completely. When the blood cannot reach parts of your heart, that area is becoming damaged or unfortunately if treatment is prolonged for too long then the heart cells will most likely die. Heart attacks can occur in anybody no matter the age, gender, or nationality, but statistically men over the age of 45 and to women over the age of 55 are at the greatest risk of a heart attack (Ricciotti). In the 1800s George Ebers discovered an ancient Egyptian scroll that has been dated back to around 1500 B.C. On the scroll that Ebers found, it listed many things about the heart and how it worked. It also showed Ebers that the Egyptians were able to identify certain symptoms of heart attacks, as well. The scroll that he found showed us how much the ancient Egyptians actually knew about heart related diseases, despite the technology differences that we have today compared to what they had. A man named Edwin Smith discovered another scroll dating back to the 17th century. The scroll that Smith found held evidence of multiple surgeries that were performed, including heart surgeries. This proves that the real discoverers of heart related illnesses in fact dates back all the way to the times of the ancient Egyptians. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay Electable or Not, Trump is Good for America There are seven hopefuls who are likely going to formally announce their candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012, within the next week and many more who are contemplating a run. None of them invoke an emotional, if not polarizing response quite like The Donald. It is early yet, but the only Republican hopeful who has broken from the reserved, almost polite rhetoric of the early stump speeches in Iowa and New Hampshire, and the government as usual policy discussions on the Sunday media carousel, has been Donald Trump. By removing the shackles of political correctness and media speak, Mr. Trump tossed a few verbal hand grenades into the throng of Obama friendly, group think media sycophants, who were waiting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The subject of President Obama s birth certificate has been mostly off limits for those who wish to avoid the wrath of the Obama friendly media. Refreshingly, Trump is facing the Obama media head on, with his questions about why the president has spent so much money and time keeping his birth certificate, college records, and health records from the public eye. Trump not only asks these questions of the president, but he asks mainstream reporters why they have not been the least bit interested in vetting Barack Obama as thoroughly as they have other presidential candidates. With Donald Trump the best defense is a good offense, and that is a strategy the other Republican hopefuls had better understand this time. Why is the Tea Party now playing such a vital role in American Politics? Its members are angry and fed up with both parties they have reached a tipping point on the size of the Federal Government. They have grown tired of politicians playing footsie with the media, and they are tired of politicians compromising on the future of this once great nation.
