The Lathe Of Heaven Analysis
Throughout the novel, The Lathe of Heaven by Ursula K. Le Guin, Haber argues multiple reasons for
why having the opportunity to change the world for the better is a positive resource for the world to
have. In my opinion, having the power Haber has over Orr, is too much of a responsibility for an
individual to handle alone. I disagree with haber s view on how change through Orr s effective
dreaming is an advantage to humanity because natural order doesn t lead to entropy, the journey is just
as important as the destination, and no individual should have the power to control the masses. Haber
argues that natural order leads to entropy. Ultimately, what is at stake here is complete disorder of the
world. When one has the ability to change the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many ways to get to your destination. Much like a road trip, there are different ways of
getting to your destination, maybe one way you take a subway where you only see the walls of the
station and the darkness of the tunnels, while the other possible route is by car where you are able to
see the different stores, and building that finally end at your destination. Some may believe that they
would gain more from the car ride than they would have gotten from the subway trip. Both ways
would have gotten you to your destination, yet many people prefer different types of transportation
over others. An example from the book that explains the possible routes that Haber could have taken,
which could have lead to more positive results include when he decided to take over Orr s mind
through hypnotic suggestion and implying to him to dream of peace. If he had taken a different route
to get his overall result of peace such, as running organizations about equality and peace with a firm
hand, he wouldn t have ever been able to create a world where aliens even exist. If he had taken
another route to peace in the world everyone affected would have gotten more preferable results than
the disadvantages he received from taking the route he actually took. In my opinion, having it be a
longer time for peace to occur is better than instant war which was a result of haber s suggestion to
Orr.

A Report On Southwest Airlines
operated. During this time, travel agent fees were going through the roof and reserving an airline
ticket was a complicated, drawn out process. To counter this, Southwest implemented its own
reservation system tailored to their own needs, which also included the industry s first paperless
ticketing system; but this wasn t the end of IT innovation from Southwest Airlines. In 1995,
Southwest.com was launched, and the online ticketing and reservation system was launched in 1996.
Soon thereafter, Southwest Airlines ticket sales were primarily coming from their online reservation
system (70%). By the late 90 s, Southwest.com was the most visited airline website [4]. By the start of
the millennium, Southwest airlines had already mastered another IT milestone which is still in use to
this very day: allowing the passenger to print their own boarding vouchers and allowing passengers to
self check in on their own computer even before arriving at the airport [4]! By implementing these two
features on the Southwest website, the airline was able to reduce the number of customer service
agents at check in counters and allowed customers to spend minimal time waiting at an airport [2].
This increases both passenger and staff efficiency, making the mundane task of waiting around at an
airport virtually a thing of the past.
Industry Analysis: Applying the Porter model to Southwest Airlines, we can see airline that is
surrounded by fierce competition and costs [4]. For intra industry

Pure Econom Ic Loss And Consequential Economic Loss
There is a fundamental distinction between Pure Econom ic Loss and Consequential Economic Loss,
as Pure Eco nomic Loss occurs independent of any physical damage to the person or property of the
victim. What is common to both types of claims is that in order to successfully claim or even have a
leg to stand on there must be proof of a duty of care having been broken. As long as you can show the
defendant has breached their duty of care and you have suffered foreseeable damage then you can
recover. The problem with Pure Economic Loss is that the classes of people who can recover is very
limited. The Courts have tried to keep it this way in order to keep the number of claimants as low as
possible. The fear is that if claims for purely economic loss are allowed then it would encourage more
claims of this type. Chief Justice Cardazo from America stated Recovery of economic loss in the
absence of physical damage or per sonal injury would expose defendants to liability in an in
determinante time to an indeterminante class. This general rule applies in Scotland, meaning that if
there is no liability for causing Pure Economic Loss, this is be cause of the Courts reluctance to open
the floodgates to an infinite number of claims. The rules for how the Courts respond to these claims
are set out in Common Law which has evolved over the years, where patterns have formed and have
now established one of the vital legal frame works for Delict Law in Scotland. A crucial case

Qualitative Research In Health Care
1. Introduce importance of qualitative interviews
Altarum will conduct a set of qualitative research interviews with a panel of 15 payer or resource
optimization experts that are representative of all sectors in healthcare. In terms of health services
delivery, it has been highlighted that one set standard of rules for reducing low value care overuse
depends greatly the how providers define the term and assess their options. In efforts to effectively
influence guidelines in cost sharing, policy and value based payments, it is necessary to grasp the crux
of low value care measures from a grouping of expert providers. With an emphasis placed on the
designation of low care value practice attribution and evidence based practice, a wide array of ... Show

This process begins with each individual expert prepared to engage half of the interviewees by
providing a supplemental overview and seeking permission to record the interview. With a foundation
rooted in qualitative research best practices, semi structured interviews will take place that meets our
identified topical trajectory with the ability to diverge. Deviation may momentously occur when the
interviewee reveals new approaches and/or recommendations that challenge disparities in the delivery
of care. These incidents are gravely invaluable to data collection and additionally supports the
significance of capturing each interview by recording. Researchers that do not record or have a
secondary route to capturing their interviews have to focus on taking their own notes during the
process which often produces unreliable summaries and diminishes the affinity between the
interviewee researcher. Both aspects in qualitative research are necessary when it comes to fostering
an environment that allows interviewees to extend our knowledge while preserving the integrity of the
data being collected. Semi structured interviews are less controlled but still warrants uniformity in
information obtained. Moreover, this method sustains replication for enhancing the matrix while
significantly reducing limitations on what is captured. This is often a challenge

Iraq Invasion 2003 (The English School Theory of International Relations) The English School (ES)
of international studies is a modern and unique spectrum to the study of international relations (IR),
because it is prominent, relevant and inclusive of the main elements in the other IR theories such as
classical Realism, Neorealism, Marxism, Liberalism (Buzan Gonzalez Pelaez, 2009), Globalization
(Buzan, 2004), Humanitarianism and Positivism IR theories (Buzan Gonzalez Pelaez, 2009, p.2 3).
The ES of IR is built on the notion of international society , in which the states are the primary actors,
engaging, co operating and conversing to produce joint strategies, interventions and arrangements
which help to maintain their inter relations and shared interests to resolve matters (Cornelia Navari, p.
1). The ES embraces the social aspect through dialogue between players on the international politics
arena with recognition of sovereignty, solidarity, level of power and leverage, self interests and
competitiveness each state holds in the international realm. It is therefore not a system like most other
IR theories but the methodology for contemporary international conversation (Buzan Gonzalez Pelaez,
2009 p. 3) between two or more states when necessary within the global framework of laws,
international institutions and customary aspects (Buzan Gonzalez Pelaez, 2009, pp.3 4). In the 1984

Analyzing Apple s Financial Standings Essay
Executive Summary: The purpose of this paper is to analyze Apple s financial standings. Apple is
currently one of the biggest smart phone, tablet, and computer producers in the world. For the last 10
years they have successfully produced new phones which outsell their competitors. Apple has
continued to show year over year growth, which has made it a wise investment for investors looking
to add to their business portfolio. We will be using their previous years reports to make an in depth
analysis of the Apple Corporation. By using various financial reports, we will determine Apple s
financial stability to determine whether Apple will be a wise short term or long term investments.
Background: Apple was founded by 2 high school friends named Steven Wozniak and Steven Jobs.
They both excelled in the electronics field. After high school, Wozniak got a job with Hewlett Packard
and Jobs worked for the Atari Company. Wozniak was the first one that started dabbling with a
computer which he later named Apple 1. He tried to sell it, but did not have any success initially. He
later designed Apple II, which was launched at a trade show as the first personal computer with color
graphics and a case. Wozniak had been dabbling in computer design for some time when, Jobs, who
had an eye for the future, insisted that he and Wozniak try to sell the machine. In 1980, Apple III was
unleashed and the company was formed. In 1981, Apple had taken over the market, but eventually had

What is genetic variation? Genetic variation refers to diversity in gene frequencies. Genetic variation
can refer to differences between individuals or to differences between different populations. Mutation
is the best source of genetic variation.Mutation is the changing of the structure of a gene, and when
resulting in a variant form that may be transmitted to subsequent generations, caused by the alteration
of single base units in DNA, or the deletion, insertion, or rearrangement of larger sections of genes or

A life changing experience
Everyone thinks that a new place or a new identity will jump fast a new life. Caroline Leavitt. My
story starts in the year 2017 when I decided to follow up on my dream and go to a far away land,
called the United States of America. My journey is full of new surprises and discoveries of a world so
different from the one I am leaving behind, with its own beliefs and culture. This is the story of an
eighteen year boy and his first encounter with a new society, his first time away from home and
family. It was not an easy decision moving to a different country, leaving behind everything and
everybody, but I had the anxiety of traveling and seeing this new world that I had seen only in the
movies, the land of Christopher Columbus, where Indians and African Americans lived unified on a
vast territory. I still remember the feeling when my parents said that we are moving to America. It was
the time when I felt everything around the world had been stopped, and I did not know what I should
do next. I was unable to decide whether life was making me move forward or it would cause me to
face more trouble than achievement. I was amazed by looking at the Diversity of people. I knew that
there were drastic changes which would be arising in my life which I seemed that it was hard to
digest, but it seemed that the USA absorbs everyone in their colors and culture so was I, in the

Compare And Contrast Communism And Russian Government
Introduction
The USSR, also known as the Soviet Union, was a country that was comprised of different republics
such as Belorussia, Ukrainian, Russian as well as the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republics. For this
reason, the Soviet Union comprised many nations among other ethnic groups among which Russia
was the largest in the union (Sakwa, 2008). The two regimes of government had both similarities and
differences. With respect to their differences and similarities, the aim of this paper is to compare and
contrast two different governments or regimes that have existed in Russia. Also, the paper will provide
an explanation of the governments fit in the definitions of the types of governments.
Compare and Contrast Russian Government Systems
When compared to other forms of governments, the Soviet Union government was an exception. The
rulers of USSR regarded imperialism and empire in ideological terms as not only the final, but also the
highest stage of capitalism. In line with a definition provided by Leninist did not define itself as an

given its Citizens the freedom of religion, speech and press. This is to mean that unlike the former
government, the present Russian government respect individual liberties. Another difference in these
two forms of governments is the citizen s involvement in government s decision making. While the

fifth of the children in the classroom have had their immunizations, and the other children have not
because their parents don t believe in immunizations. That means those children are prone to
whooping cough. And the only reason they won t immunize their child is because they believe that
immunizations cause autism, but in all reality, there have been no medical cases that linked autism to
immunizations. Therefore one of the children who did not get immunized will get whooping cough,

Through all the studies scientists have really manifested that the ingredients in all vaccines do not
cause autism (Vaccines). So, the questions still stands in may parents around the world: What causes
autism? Well, no one cause can be narrowed down to cause autism in a child (Frequently). In fact,
scientists/researchers have found that about fifteen percent of autism cases have been able to identify
several types of genes that can cause autism. They have also found about one hundred genes and gene
mutations that can increase the risk a child could develop autism. Although they have found this
research it can not really distinguish why one child with the gene has autism and the other with the
same gene does not. Often autism is linked to the womb environment the baby was in before birth. If
the mother had been sick with various things like maternal diabetes or infection during pregnancy
could cause autism. As well as certain complications at birth and oxygen deprivation to the baby s
brain could cause autism. Many things can cause autism but as scientists still continue to research it,
things are simply just being ruled out. Scientist are still hard at work to really define what causes
autism. Sense vaccinations have been ruled out to cause autism,

second one is that apparently Sainsburys needs to regain its reputation again because it is suspected
that Sainsburys had led the Big 4 to a collusion; Consequently, lt will lose its customers trust and

Furthermore, by doing more market research, there should be less risk of product failure and also by
doing so, they could understand what the customers need and want.

John Marshall s Effect on the American Judicial System Essays
John Marshall s Effect on the American Judicial System I.Introduction In the early years of the
eighteenth Century, the young United States of America were slowly adapting to the union and the
way the country was governed. And just like the country, the governmental powers were starting to

Executive, the Legislative and the Judicial Power. But the existence of those powers was not always
that naturally. In these crucial times, the Judicial Power had problems controlling the other powers. It

History of Civil Aviation
Civil aviation came about after World War one when pioneers explored new uses for aircraft, before
that aircraft were only used for war purposes. In 1908 the British army developed aircraft, a few years
before in 1904 J. E. Cooper, from the British war office, visited the Wright Brothers. His aim was to
bring back information and skills on aircraft. This did not happen because the Wright brothers asked
for $100,000 for the method of aircraft and a further $100,000 for the formulae and theoretical
knowledge. The war office was unwilling to pay this amount.
Later, during the First World War, the aeroplane matured rapidly. Aeroplanes had to stand up to the
war time maintenance. Although the Bi planes of 1918 resembled pre war types they ... Show more

Following D.H.4A and D.H.16 de Havilland designed a purely civil D.H.18, with a 450hp Napier Lion
engine and eight seats. This came about in 1920, used by Aircraft Transport and Instone. Improved
development brought about the Lion powered eight passenger D.H.34 which had its first flight on
March 26th, 1922 then went into service with Daimler Airway, just a week later, on April 2nd. This
aeroplane type was also used by Instone and one was even exported to Russia.
Handley Page designed and built the W.8, based on its own 0/400 series, which had two Eagle
engines. The W.8 compared to the 0/400, had reduced wing span, better passenger accommodation and
a single fin and rudder in place of the 0/400s box like structure. The W.8 had its first flight on 4th
December 1919 and had limited service with Handley Page Transport. It was followed by three 12/14

Common Cold Myth
There is a common belief among many in the United States that taking mega doses of vitamin C will
cure, prevent or reduce the symptoms of the common cold. Many Americans accept this idea as fact
on its face without knowing the origins or the results of many medical science journals. The fact is
that to this date there is very little evidence to substantiate the claim that taking mega doses of vitamin
C will prevent or cure the common cold. There is some evidence that vitamin C will reduce symptoms
of a cold in very specific circumstances for some people, but it is unlikely more than a small
percentage of American s fall into these categories. If the American people read what the latest
medical science journals have found on the efficacy of Vitamin C they would probably not be as quick

In 1970 chemist and Nobel laurite Linus Pauling wrote a book called Vitamin C and the Common

than scientific literature. Not long after the book s publication the vitamin industry began to take off
due to a number of bills that prevented FDA regulation (theweek.com) continuing to increase its sales
year after year into the 2000 s(cnn.com). Lianus based his claim on the fact that humans are one of the
few animals in the animal kingdom that do not produce vitamin C in their own bodies, and since we
have shift from a plant based diet to a more meat centered diet we lack the large amounts of vitamin C
our species used to consume. While there is a large and growing body of evidence supporting the
health benefits of plant based diets over meat based and process food diets, the claim that vitamin C is
the primary beneficial component of this diet is unsubstantiated.

Differences Between Power Bi And Tableau
On the surface, it was difficult to discern the differences between Power BI and Tableau because both
tools provide similar functions of visualization. So, I decided to solve some common analytic
questions and see if there are differences in terms of user experience. A summary table is created, as
shown below, based on the questions solving experience. Power BI provides powerful functions with
moderate level of visualization, however, the learning curve to reach to intermediate level can be
largely steeper compared to Tableau. Many times, to even solve a very simple problem, a Data
Analysis Expressions (DAX) script was needed during the test. Same problem was solved by 3 times
of clicking at Tableau. This DAX was more difficult to utilize compared to the Tableau s scripting
language and the absent of staunch Power BI user communities exacerbated the difficulty when
writing DAX scripts. The user communities for Power BI are currently in a nascent stage, and many
times, I had to go over the references which were mainly written for experienced programmers. Unlike
Power BI, Tableau have strong user communities and they provide a quick fix, allowing a novice to
solve intermediate level of questions. The absent of mature user community of Power BI should not be
overlooked. The availability and utilisation of user communities are very important when choosing IT
products, considering that web searching is the most common and effective way when to learn new

Latin American Culture Analysis
Drug cartels and drug wars have been a big issue in Mexico and other Latin American countries over
the past two decades. When people hear the term drug war , they immediately think of the notorious
Narco, Pablo Escobar, who during the 80 s was one of the DEA and FBI s most wanted criminals.
With the ongoing war on drugs in Mexico, the whole history and idea of drug cartels and trafficking of
drugs has become a popular and compelling storyline for television series in America. With that being
said, the increase of drug related shows in American television negatively reflects the image of Latin
Americans in the US through: racial stereotypes, poor representation on TV, and a lack of character
development.
The negative image on Latin Americans ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gus is a Latin American and Walter is a White American. The scholarly source brings up a point that
shows tend to stereotype minorities while they showed White characters as authority figure (Gonzalez
iii). The idolization of Walter could have to do with the fact that viewers don t have much to compare
the representation of Latin Americans to, Americans know their own culture and not much about
Latinos. So, the way Latin Americans are portrayed specifically in Breaking Bad and Narcos doesn t
give the viewers anything to compare to. Thus, they might believe actions and routines of Latin

Education is an important part of life since it gives us knowledge of the world around, paves the way
for a worthy career, and makes a man complete. Unfortunately, in some part of the world, education is
not readily accessible that made the number of people in the world do not have a chance to go to
school. For instance, in Africa, according to the USAID Center reports that as of 2005, 40% of school
age children in Africa do not attend primary school and there are still 46 million school age African
children who have never stepped into a classroom. Moreover, politics play a significant part in fanning
the flames of extremism, but widespread poverty, high unemployment rates, and a lack of equal
educational opportunities for girls are also important elements. In addition, the traditional classes are
not one size fits all for everyone. For example, some students in the class said that they feel bored and
stressed out when going to school. On the other hand, other students feel timid when discussing the
problems in face to face lecture, perhaps they feel more comfortable through emails, or discuss lessons
on the online web like Canvas, Etude, etc. Nowadays, accompany with the improvement of
technology, we can perceive that ever more people choose online education as the valuable
opportunity for people as it gives everyone all over the world a chance to deserve a high quality
education, actively manage schedules, and master the schoolings. Without a doubt, the growth of

Flappers In The 1920 s
The ways of a flapper spread through the United States in the 1920s and changed young girls into a
new generation as modern woman declaring a new freedom. The new emancipated women demanded
to be recognized as equal to men. The flappers adopted the masculine look and started getting
different haircuts and wearing very different clothes. Flappers were known for wearing an excessive
amount of makeup, drinking and smoking, dancing, voting, and being very promiscuous. From these
liberating circumstances emerged a caricature: the flapper, symbol of the modern woman (Info Base).
Flappers are mostly known for what they wore; they were the first to wear shorter dresses above the
knee. Before flappers, only prostitutes wore short dresses. Also, until having ... Show more content on

Most flappers would wear an excessive amounts of makeup, especially lipstick, out in public. Also,
many women prior to this time would not smoke or drink publicly. However, since the women wanted
to be seen as equals and have all the privileges of men, they would drink and smoke publicly and did
not care what others thought of them. Flappers would display their jewelry very openly; Critics saw
the apparatus of prostitutes afflicting respectable society (Info Base). Along with the change to short
dresses, the women s beliefs changed as well. Many flappers decided to throw their morals and values
away and engaged in premarital sex. Also, commitment to marriage itself changed and marriages
seemed to end in divorce most of the time. Many of the women in this time period had prominent
changes in their mindset and actions. They would engage in very promiscuous dancing, drink and
smoke in public, wear promiscuous clothing, and decided not to care about what society had to think

Seventh Day Adventist Controversy
The development of the Seventh Day Adventists church has not come absent from controversy.
Discrepancy has been in our midst since our origins, at times, even theological misunderstandings
have also been part of the development of our doctrines. In spite of disagreements, it has been the
church s efforts to avoid an officially adopted creedal statement, preferring as a denomination an open
end theology. This has been treasured by the church because it allows new light to penetrate, but at the
same time creates room for different biblical understandings to emerge, which could lead to confusion.
Perhaps one of the most controversial issues in the church was the publication in the year 1957 of the
book called, Seventh day Adventists Answer

National Incident Management System NIMS
The National Incident Management System (NIMS) was put into place after 9/11 and is the standard
for all first responders when dealing with large scale events (NIMS, 2014). The Incident Command
System (ICS) is the structure for the NIMS and establishes separate but unified sections and divisions
to include operations, a commander, logistics, plans and finance (NIMS, 2014)). The ICS can grow or
shrink depending on the size and scale of the event. The term Span of Control implies that within the
ICS, any individual with a supervisory position should oversee 3 to 7 subordinates. The span of
control is key to effective and efficient incident management (ICS Resource Center, 2008 p 3).
In one of the ICS s most basic forms, it empowers the Incident Commander (IC) to manage the
responding organization. It also puts forth an operations section chief to direct responders within
operations and communicate the IC s plan (NIMS, 2014). Depending on where an incident occurs
correlates to how well the responders are prepared, equipped and ready to deal with large scale events.
In some areas with less logistical resources and funds, incidents can turn into disasters that challenge
the local citizens and responders. That is exactly what happened in a coal mine in 2006 in Sago West
Virginia.

some of the poisonous gases. This incident also attracted world wide media coverage and irregular

Demographic And Socio Economic Changes
Demographic and socio economic changes effect cities, its economy and ultimately the country as a
whole. Changes in demographics tells us if an area is losing or gaining population and may act
accordingly to help it survive. Family patterns change over a period of time as more women go out for
jobs rather than stay at home. As medical field advances, the life span of human increases and these
changes can show that the median age of the population is growing. Setting up of new industries or
business houses in a city might bring in the working population and help in improving the economic
condition of the area.
This report presents some of the demographic and socio economic data collected from American
Community Survey 1 Year Estimates for the years 2006, 2009 and 2012 w.r.t. 203 Metropolitan
Statistical Areas (MSA) in United States of America. These MSA have been selected as the most
populated MSA in USA for the year 2012.
The most populous MSA in USA included a few MSA from Puerto Rico and Alaska and was removed
to focus only on Mainland USA. It was also observed that most of the MSA when plotted on the map
of USA are in East USA (155 MSA). Montana and Wyoming did not have any MSA among these 203
MSA. For the purpose of this report, Microsoft Excel and Tableau where used to store, clean and plot
the data. Summary Tables for the parameters which were selected to compare these MSA are

father on a peach farm. We learn that she had accidentally killed her mother at the age of four, and has
been made to feel guilty and unworthy of love. The story starts to develop when she helps her black

By all rights, Lily should have been a person of no faith. She grew up in a home where she was abused
and deprived of love. However it was Lily s innate faith that enabled her to survive. Lily truly
believed that her mother had loved her. All along while living with T. Ray Lily would imagine all the
nice things her mother used to do with her, like brush her hair and buy pretty dresses for her. It was
this faith in her mother s love that got her through these tough times. Accordingly, it was Lily s faith in
Rosaleen that caused Lily to help her escape from jail. Lily knew that Rosaleen was a good person
who had always been there for her. She had faith that Rosaleen did not deserve to be in prison. It was
also Lily s strong faith that allowed her to succeed in finding the answers to her mother s past. Lily
had faith that the picture found of the Black Madonna with the inscription of Tiburon on the back
would lead her down that path. She went to the town of Tiburon simply because it was written on the
back of the picture. She wasn t even sure where she was going, but because of her tremendous faith
she just went along. Lily had faith that the Boatwright sisters would have the answers regarding her
mother. She also had faith that living with the Boatwright sisters was the key to her and Rosaleen s
safety and security. As Lily adjusted to her life with the Boatwright sister s, and her job as a beekeeper
she developed faith in the power of the beehives. The predictability and the complexity of their
lifecycle gave her comfort as well as a renewal of her faith in life. The bees taught her a lot, and as a
result she gave them her respect. At the end of the book Lily had to use her faith to believe in herself.

Electroencephalography Essay
Electroencephalography is a form of measuring electrical activity in the brain using electrodes that are
attached to the scalp. EEGs are interpreted by looking at amplitude, frequency, and shape of the waves
that are formed. The significance of the results relies on patient specific information such as age, state
of the patient, and the location of the electrodes on the scalp. Different areas of the brain can produce
different wave patterns. There are four types of wave forms: alpha, beta, theta, and delta. Frequency is
key in determining normal and abnormal EEGs, with normal frequencies ranging between 0.5 500
Hertz. Each wave type has its own range of normal frequencies, because each wave has its own set
characteristics.
Alpha waves are present in all age groups, but most commonly adults. They occur on both sides of the
head, usually having a higher amplitude on the nondominant side. Alpha waves tend to be more
posteriorly located and are associated with relaxation. Alpha waves are not present when a person is
stressed, their eyes are open, or they are at attention. An abnormal alpha wave is known as an alpha
coma, where the alpha waves are seen in both anterior and posterior parts of the head usually
indicative of a person who is unresponsive to stimuli. Beta waves are also observed in all age groups,
tend to have a small amplitude, are symmetric, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

My Love Of Family
American journalist Charles Kuralt said, The love of family and the admiration of friends is much
more important than wealth and privilege. What he is saying is that even if you have many privileges
and a lot of money, it does not mean anything if you do not have family and friends. My family is very
supportive of me. They always encourage me to do what makes me happy, and what I think is right.
Even if we sometimes disagree, I know that I will always have them for guidance. I also have support

A big part of my identity and what has shaped me into who I am is musical theatre and Broadway.
Although it may seem like something small, having the experience of going to see so many shows has

Popular Mechanics Raymond Carver
The short story Popular Mechanics , a short story by Raymond Carver tells the story of a husband and
a wife fighting for their child. A reader can also find that the story has symbolism in two major ways.
The first example of symbolism exists within the child. The child represents the downfall of love. The
second example of symbolism can be acquainted to the stages of grief. The reader having these views
greatly alters their perception of the story.
When observing the text the reader can come up with a simple summary. Two parents fight over a
child. In the event of the fight the child is put between the parents. Meaning the two parents now
physically fight over the baby by tugging on it. The baby appears to be symbolic of a link between ...

Raymond Carver actually takes the reader through the 5 stages of grief within the short story.. When
the reader first starts reading the story they will notice the woman telling the man I m glad you re
leaving! I m glad you re leaving! . She tells a possible white lie, meaning she actually needs him,
whilst in denial of this fact. When crying she expresses anger towards the man, swearing at him and
mocking him. These emotions are mostly linked with anger. Once this finishes bargaining begins. She
tries to bargain with the husband over the baby s future home, whether it be hers, or his. This doesn t
work. Depression plays a major role within the text, as the entire tone can be considered depressing.
With a dark and gloomy setting, and a family filled of sadness and hate towards each other. The final
stage of the story and grief is acceptance. In the events that occur acceptance eventually arrives.
Though involuntary, acceptance occurs in the end. In this manner, the issue was decided , when the
reader analyse the text given here the reader finds that indeed, there was acceptance. Acceptance of
the issue. Though vague, implication that one of the two (the husband or wife) will come to acceptance

Company Background Of The Company
KPMG Company Background
In 2012 the firm purchased the ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Managed Services business of Thomson
Reuters to further enhance its indirect tax compliance services. It made two acquisitions in 2011, as
well. KPMG L.L.P. bought Optimum Solutions, which provides management consulting and
implementation services to companies that use Oracle enterprise software. The move has enabled it to
serve clients with ERP and HR transformation needs. To boost capacity, the company and its UK
affiliate teamed up in 2011 to buy outsourcing advisory firm EquaTerra, adding another revenue
stream. The acquisition follows KPMG L.L.P. s 2010 purchase of the supply chain advisory services
unit of second tier accountancy Grant Thornton.
KPMG has been able to rebound from some past legal troubles. The drawn out drama began in 2005
when the firm admitted to unlawful conduct in an investigation by the Department of Justice. Former
partners of the firm created abusive tax shelters for more than 600 wealthy customers between 1996
and 2002; the unpaid taxes cost the Treasury more than $100 million. KPMG avoided criminal
prosecution by agreeing to pay $456 million in fines, restitution, and penalties. (A criminal indictment
led to the collapse of KPMG s former rival Arthur Andersen.) A federal jury found three ex KPMG
employees guilty in the tax shelter trial in 2008 (a fourth defendant was acquitted). Those former
managers were ordered to pay nearly $10 million in fines and received

What Might Happen During The Great Depression
There have been many drastic events from 1914 through 1991, the economy had been in a downward
spiral. The United States had been millions of dollars in debt, thousands of people were left
unemployed, and war was beginning to arise. From the least to worst, in order was the Stock Market
Crash of 1929, New Deal, and the Great Depression. The Great Depression was single handedly one
of the worst economic downfall in the history of the Western industrialized world, that is why it is first
on the list. It began after the stock market crash which had sent Wall Street to completely panic. Over
15 million people were left unemployed due to the crash wiping out 12 million shares. Since most
Americans were left jobless and would not earn money to pay bills, buy food, etc., soup kitchens were
put up in various states for the unemployed. The economy kept shrinking down 6.4 percent. The

  • 2. The Lathe Of Heaven Analysis Throughout the novel, The Lathe of Heaven by Ursula K. Le Guin, Haber argues multiple reasons for why having the opportunity to change the world for the better is a positive resource for the world to have. In my opinion, having the power Haber has over Orr, is too much of a responsibility for an individual to handle alone. I disagree with haber s view on how change through Orr s effective dreaming is an advantage to humanity because natural order doesn t lead to entropy, the journey is just as important as the destination, and no individual should have the power to control the masses. Haber argues that natural order leads to entropy. Ultimately, what is at stake here is complete disorder of the world. When one has the ability to change the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many ways to get to your destination. Much like a road trip, there are different ways of getting to your destination, maybe one way you take a subway where you only see the walls of the station and the darkness of the tunnels, while the other possible route is by car where you are able to see the different stores, and building that finally end at your destination. Some may believe that they would gain more from the car ride than they would have gotten from the subway trip. Both ways would have gotten you to your destination, yet many people prefer different types of transportation over others. An example from the book that explains the possible routes that Haber could have taken, which could have lead to more positive results include when he decided to take over Orr s mind through hypnotic suggestion and implying to him to dream of peace. If he had taken a different route to get his overall result of peace such, as running organizations about equality and peace with a firm hand, he wouldn t have ever been able to create a world where aliens even exist. If he had taken another route to peace in the world everyone affected would have gotten more preferable results than the disadvantages he received from taking the route he actually took. In my opinion, having it be a longer time for peace to occur is better than instant war which was a result of haber s suggestion to Orr. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Report On Southwest Airlines operated. During this time, travel agent fees were going through the roof and reserving an airline ticket was a complicated, drawn out process. To counter this, Southwest implemented its own reservation system tailored to their own needs, which also included the industry s first paperless ticketing system; but this wasn t the end of IT innovation from Southwest Airlines. In 1995, Southwest.com was launched, and the online ticketing and reservation system was launched in 1996. Soon thereafter, Southwest Airlines ticket sales were primarily coming from their online reservation system (70%). By the late 90 s, Southwest.com was the most visited airline website [4]. By the start of the millennium, Southwest airlines had already mastered another IT milestone which is still in use to this very day: allowing the passenger to print their own boarding vouchers and allowing passengers to self check in on their own computer even before arriving at the airport [4]! By implementing these two features on the Southwest website, the airline was able to reduce the number of customer service agents at check in counters and allowed customers to spend minimal time waiting at an airport [2]. This increases both passenger and staff efficiency, making the mundane task of waiting around at an airport virtually a thing of the past. Industry Analysis: Applying the Porter model to Southwest Airlines, we can see airline that is surrounded by fierce competition and costs [4]. For intra industry ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Pure Econom Ic Loss And Consequential Economic Loss There is a fundamental distinction between Pure Econom ic Loss and Consequential Economic Loss, as Pure Eco nomic Loss occurs independent of any physical damage to the person or property of the victim. What is common to both types of claims is that in order to successfully claim or even have a leg to stand on there must be proof of a duty of care having been broken. As long as you can show the defendant has breached their duty of care and you have suffered foreseeable damage then you can recover. The problem with Pure Economic Loss is that the classes of people who can recover is very limited. The Courts have tried to keep it this way in order to keep the number of claimants as low as possible. The fear is that if claims for purely economic loss are allowed then it would encourage more claims of this type. Chief Justice Cardazo from America stated Recovery of economic loss in the absence of physical damage or per sonal injury would expose defendants to liability in an in determinante time to an indeterminante class. This general rule applies in Scotland, meaning that if there is no liability for causing Pure Economic Loss, this is be cause of the Courts reluctance to open the floodgates to an infinite number of claims. The rules for how the Courts respond to these claims are set out in Common Law which has evolved over the years, where patterns have formed and have now established one of the vital legal frame works for Delict Law in Scotland. In terms of health services delivery, it has been highlighted that one set standard of rules for reducing low value care overuse depends greatly the how providers define the term and assess their options. This process begins with each individual expert prepared to engage half of the interviewees by providing a supplemental overview and seeking permission to record the interview. With a foundation rooted in qualitative research best practices, semi structured interviews will take place that meets our identified topical trajectory with the ability to diverge. Deviation may momentously occur when the interviewee reveals new approaches and/or recommendations that challenge disparities in the delivery of care. These incidents are gravely invaluable to data collection and additionally supports the significance of capturing each interview by recording. Researchers that do not record or have a secondary route to capturing their interviews have to focus on taking their own notes during the process which often produces unreliable summaries and diminishes the affinity between the interviewee researcher. Both aspects in qualitative research are necessary when it comes to fostering an environment that allows interviewees to extend our knowledge while preserving the integrity of the data being collected. Semi structured interviews are less controlled but still warrants uniformity in information obtained. Moreover, this method sustains replication for enhancing the matrix while significantly reducing limitations on what is captured. This is often a challenge ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Life Changing Experience Ankit Bhardwaj ENG111 13D Mr. Treanor 10 November 2017 Essay 1 draft 3 A life changing experience Everyone thinks that a new place or a new identity will jump fast a new life. Caroline Leavitt. My story starts in the year 2017 when I decided to follow up on my dream and go to a far away land, called the United States of America. My journey is full of new surprises and discoveries of a world so different from the one I am leaving behind, with its own beliefs and culture. This is the story of an eighteen year boy and his first encounter with a new society, his first time away from home and family. It was not an easy decision moving to a different country, leaving behind everything and everybody, but I had the anxiety of traveling and seeing this new world that I had seen only in the movies, the land of Christopher Columbus, where Indians and African Americans lived unified on a vast territory. I still remember the feeling when my parents said that we are moving to America. It was the time when I felt everything around the world had been stopped, and I did not know what I should do next. I was unable to decide whether life was making me move forward or it would cause me to face more trouble than achievement. I was amazed by looking at the Diversity of people. I knew that there were drastic changes which would be arising in my life which I seemed that it was hard to digest, but it seemed that the USA absorbs everyone in their colors and culture so was I, in the mélange ... So, I decided to solve some common analytic questions and see if there are differences in terms of user experience. A summary table is created, as shown below, based on the questions solving experience. Power BI provides powerful functions with moderate level of visualization, however, the learning curve to reach to intermediate level can be largely steeper compared to Tableau. Many times, to even solve a very simple problem, a Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) script was needed during the test. Same problem was solved by 3 times of clicking at Tableau. This DAX was more difficult to utilize compared to the Tableau s scripting language and the absent of staunch Power BI user communities exacerbated the difficulty when writing DAX scripts. The user communities for Power BI are currently in a nascent stage, and many times, I had to go over the references which were mainly written for experienced programmers. Unlike Power BI, Tableau have strong user communities and they provide a quick fix, allowing a novice to solve intermediate level of questions. EEGs are interpreted by looking at amplitude, frequency, and shape of the waves that are formed. The significance of the results relies on patient specific information such as age, state of the patient, and the location of the electrodes on the scalp. Different areas of the brain can produce different wave patterns. There are four types of wave forms: alpha, beta, theta, and delta. Frequency is key in determining normal and abnormal EEGs, with normal frequencies ranging between 0.5 500 Hertz. Each wave type has its own range of normal frequencies, because each wave has its own set characteristics. Alpha waves are present in all age groups, but most commonly adults. They occur on both sides of the head, usually having a higher amplitude on the nondominant side. Alpha waves tend to be more posteriorly located and are associated with relaxation. Alpha waves are not present when a person is stressed, their eyes are open, or they are at attention.
