interviews of previous slaves intrigued those wanting to know what it was like being a slave. With the
interview there is a look inside the life of, a woman still in her childhood, what her life was like, and

made it to the wars end, although life still has many hardships for the Freedman today. The interview

Puerto Rico is an island that is impacted by not having enough land for cultivation. The Three
thousand four hundred and ninety two square miles of this island is about seventy five percent hills or
mountains (Worldmark Encyclopedia of the States b). With the large amount of land consisting of hill
or mountains, Puerto Rico has limited amounts of natural resources. While under Spanish colonial
rule, the island was largely neglected because of its limited mineral resources. Following the Spanish
American war in 1898, the U.S. took over control of the island. The U.S. found itself in control of an
island that produced small scale amounts of sugar and coffee. The U.S would then expand the
sugarcane operations and establish markets to use as a viable trade resource.

computers. In the 1990 s, upon the expansion of the Internet, Application Service Provider (ASP) was
introduced wherein businesses were provided with software that they can access over the Internet
through a web browser. But then, service and financial failures occurred as a result of actions such as
rushing the market offerings before issues were solved and failing to cut the costs for the customers at
a greater extent because of having a unique server for each customer. Those scalability problems or

In my draft, I had two short essay. One about how dirt bike riding was important to me, and the other
on how someone who affected me wrongfully but developed me into the person I am today. Out of
five of my peers, they all chose the essay to do with my bullying. My peers thought that the first two
paragraphs on my essay needed to be taken out because it was lot of plot. They wanted me to get
straight to the point like I was in the third paragraph. They wanted me to make a stronger thesis and
install more imagery into the essay. My grammar needed improvement and so did my vocabulary.
They loved when I talked about how this experience shaped me today and how it has helped me a

because of their unusual diet (Young, 1970). In his video Young states that, The winter months for the
Netsilik people starts in September and last right up until June, during these months the temperatures
can range anywhere from 30 50 degrees below 0 (1970). During the 2 3 months of warmer weather,
the summer tundra remains wet, since permafrost not far below the surface prevents drainage
(Netsilik, n.d). This causes the Netsilik to migrate frequently.
Their first encounter of non natives was in 1890, a meeting that was brief but would provoke further
meetings until the twentieth century. Interaction with other civilizations would only prove to advance
their own, for neighboring communities like the Iglulik introduced them to more advanced weaponry
like the rifle which eventually replaced their standard harpoon; thus making hunting much easier.
Later on in 1920, trading posts were established, this completely changed their economy, for instead
of white fox fur trapping and trade, the Netsilik now would trade for additional items made by non
natives, including woolen clothing, tobacco, steel traps, fishing nets, canoes, tea, and canvas tents
(Netsilik, n.d). Adding these trading posts not only shows how adaptive the Netsilik are to other
cultures, but it allowed them
