The Symbiotic Relationship Of The Hypothalamus Interaction...
As the control center of the endocrine system, the hypothalamus interacts with the body in a unique
way. It has a symbiotic relationship with the pituitary gland, which stimulates the release of hormones
to different parts of the body. Located inferior to the hypothalamus, the pituitary gland lies within a
cavity of the sphenoid bone known as the sella turcica. The hypothalamus communicates with the
pituitary gland through two separate lobes: one leading to the anterior pituitary and another leading to
the posterior pituitary. The connection of these two lobes through the infundibulum forms the bridge
between the nervous and endocrine systems. The lobe that connects the hypothalamus to the anterior
pituitary is called the hypophyseal portal

Loss of Life During the Darfur Conflict
The Darfur conflict took the lives of many people. The government didn t want to deal with what was
happening in community so they turned the public against each other as an effort to get the people to
blame it on something else, though the government thought that this will have happened anyway and
denying all of their effort. History The Darfur Conflict took place in Sudan, Africa. Darfur is 170,000
miles; they have many volcanic high lands. They can get heavy rain fall. (1) The Marrah Mountains
are one of their famous mountains in Darfur. (1) It was started by the government hitting a military
base in 2003. (3) Before the military base hit the government was having some environmental issues.
They didn t have enough natural resources for their people. The government had a lot of food and
water shortages. The Darfur conflict was then put in the arms of the Janjaweed. These people were
Arabs. They thought that they had to cleanse the community of any non Arabs people. The
government agreed and the people fought back. This was the start of the civil war in Darfur. The
government they supported the Janjaweed and thought that if they left to them their laundry will
continue to be clean. (7) By the government obtaining to this they became in denial of what was
actually happening in their community. They Janjaweed were killing, raping, starving, and torturing
the people of Darfur, because they didn t like that they were not Arab (3) This all along was the plan

Poetry Finds Its Most Memorable Moments In Its Least...
Poetry finds its most memorable moments in its least characterized elements. It is in the words that are
not on the paper or spoken that poetry shines over other forms of communication. The quality and
depth of implications in a poem are what separate good from great. It is in the ability to say so much
by purposely not saying anything that makes poetry stand out in an observer s mind. Things left
incomplete or unsaid naturally stick out in people s minds as there is a want to see the full image or
completed thought. Leaving it open for interpretation not only promotes greater attention to other
details in the piece in order to make sense of that which is left unsaid, but also naturally promotes
discussion and the addition of multiple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Included in this anthology is a freestyle from Method Man, in it, he narrates a familiar scene unfolding
in the street.
Crime scene, coppers and sirens
Helicopters and high beams, the tensions is rising
Fiends keeping they pipe clean
This is what life means, a dollar and a dream
Everybody wants nice things
The kid was only nineteen, hole in his chest now
He s fighting, for his last breath
He s seeing death its frightening
The grip on the ghetto is tightening
You try to do the right thing? They do you just like King
In this narration, Method Man includes enough detail to give a vivid mental image of the scene that is
being played out in front of the listener. He masterfully uses different pronunciations and meter in
order to keep the rhythm through the piece and maintain his rhymes. He pronounces sirens like sireens
in order to rhyme it with high beams, and mixes in masculine rhymes at the beginning of his sentences
and feminine rhymes at the ends. With these tools he creates the image and implants it in the listener s
mind, but leaves out enough detail so that it could be any teen, shot for any reason, in any ghetto.
These important details being left unsaid give the rap a message that is applicable to any number of
people.

Eric Thomas Research Paper
When you want to breathe as bad as you want to succeed then you ll be successful. Eric Thomas. So
many people around the world wonder if this quote is valid or invalid. This quote is indeed valid when
it comes to having the qualities of becoming successful. The exactly first thing many people think
after failing at something they love is,is it even worth fighting for anymore. Should they give up or try
harder next time. Unfortunately for Eric Thomas dropped out of High school at the age of sixteen and
when he was eighteen he he met a pastor, who inspired him to go complete his GED exams and go to

Introduction:
GABAA (Gamma Aminobutyric Acid) receptors are the main inhibitory neurotransmitter receptors in
the mammalian brain. Although these receptors have been found in other parts of the body like liver9,
smooth airway muscles of the lungs10, and several type of immune cells11,12, their main function
comes in the nervous system, specifically neurons. The GABAA receptors located in the postsynaptic
membrane are stimulated by GABA neurotransmitter released from the pre synaptic neurons and
functions to inhibit neuronal stimulation in the short term (millisecond time range), while the
extrasynaptic GABAA receptors are stimulated by ambient GABA in the extracellular space and
confers long term inhibition.2 However, there are many types of GABAA receptors depending on the
subunits that they are made up of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cys loop receptors are characterized by pentameric ligand gated ion channels. Some other members of
this superfamily are nicotinic acetylcholine (nACh), 5 hydroxytryptamine (type 3, 5HT3) and glycine
receptors 1, 2 and 3. nACh receptors and 5HT3 receptors contain cation selective channels that
depolarize or excite neurons, whereas GABAA/B receptors and glycine receptors contain anion
selective channels that, in most cases, hyperpolarize or inhibit neurons. Exception occurs during early
postnatal development when these channels are excitatory.5, 3 Neuropathic pain can occur if these
channels become excitatory in adults.16 The unique feature of GABA receptors that distinguish it
from other cys loop receptors is its activating ligand GABA (or accurately γ aminobutyrate). There are
two types of GABA receptors A B. GABAB receptor was originally found due to their insensitivity to
bicuculline which is GABAA antagonist1. They are G protein coupled receptors and differ strongly in
structure, function, and sequence from GABAA receptors and will not be discussed further in this

Borderline Personality Disorder And Personality Disorders
Borderline Personality Disorder
Emani J. Mills
Psychology of Personality
Catinia Farrington
INTRODUCTION
Personality disorders have been documented in approximately 9 percent of the general U.S. population
(Angstman, Rasmussen, 2011). Emotional dysregulation disorder or its common name borderline
personality disorder is a very serious and chronic disorder. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of
Mental Disorders Fourth Edition (DSM IV) describes borderline personality disorder as a pervasive
pattern of instability of interpersonal relationships, self image, and affects, and marked impulsivity
that begins by early adulthood and is present in a variety of contexts (Gardner, 2006). Within the last
20 years, psychologists and other mental health professionals have made tremendous strides in
research on what exactly borderline personality disorder, some of its triggers and possible effective
treatment options. Borderline personality disorder is defined as a disorder that generates severe
emotional instability which can be a springboard that can lead to other stress induced mental and
behavioral problems.
HOW IS BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER DIAGNOSED?
Personality disorders is an umbrella term. There are a variety of personality disorders, and each
disorder has its own unique identifier that makes them different from other personality disorders.
Because each personality disorder differs from the next, these disorders are separated and is

My Passion Is Softball
Imagine a warm September night under bright field lights. The light summer breeze brushing against
your face. A rush of adrenaline through your veins. There s a swell of cheering coming from in the
stands and the dugout. You can feel the most overwhelming sense of joy. That is my passion.
According to the Merriam Webster English Dictionary, passion means a strong liking or desire for, or
devotion to some activity, object, or concept, but that is stiff and set, with no hint of emotion as all
definitions are. To me it means a feeling in your chest when you think about something, because you
love that one thing so much. Everyone has different passions, but for me one thing strikes a chord. My
passion is softball, and it includes so many amazing things even past it s pretty obvious physical
benefits. I love softball, because it has allowed me to be healthier, learn many life lessons, and make
great friends. It benefits my community by allowing primarily young girls to develop leadership skills,
how to deal with controversy, teachability, and gives them an opportunity to make friendships that will
last them their whole lives, as well. To understand how softball benefits people, it would be easier if
we knew a little history. You probably think it s simple: Softball is just women s baseball. That,
however, is not entirely the case. In fact, softball was actually created as the product of a football
game. In November of 1887, a group of friends sat at the Farragut Boat Club in

the two young Afro American s. Danny wakes up to see one of the men standing by the front door but
can t see whether he is armed or not. He goes to tell his brother Derek who is in bed with Stacy, his
girlfriend. Derek takes a semi automatic pistol and sees two blacks and one in the car ready for a
getaway. Derek plunges out of the front door and shoots the first Afro American several times and

Danny looks over the same basketball park now and sees that the blacks are back on it with Little
Henry the black gang member that confronted Danny earlier on.
Derek didn t allow his family to visit or write to him for the three years while he was in prison. Now
he is released and Danny comes home to meet him after school. They lost their original home after
Derek had lost his job and Doris Vineyard. Their mother is also unwell, coughing and lying on the
couch suffering probably from lung cancer. When Danny gets home, Derek notices the tattoo on
Danny s arm with the letters DOC underneath the logo. Danny tells Derek that it was Cameron that
had persuaded Danny to have it done. Derek is not impressed but doesn t say anything. Seth arrives
with his video camera to welcome back Derek. Derek, meanwhile, is on the phone to Dr Sweeney who
tells him about Danny s assignment and Derek agrees to help Danny in his own way. Seth videotapes
Danny reciting right wing and skinhead ideology about hating that it is cool to be black and the hip
hop influence on the suburbs. Derek finishes his phone call and is listening to Danny s views while
shaking his head.
Derek assembles the family in the room while Seth is left outside waiting to get something to eat. He
tells them that he is planning to move them out of the area so they can make a new start. Derek

The Transforming Vision By Brian Walsh And Richard Middleton
The Transforming Vision, written by Brian Walsh and Richard Middleton, yearn for a change in the
way Christianity is viewed. According to the authors, science, technology and economic growth is
what shapes our society, while Christianity stands in the sidelines. The authors aspire to see a change
in Christianity where it may receive social and cultural embodiment. In the first chapters, Walsh and
Middleton explore the reason behind why Christianity of North Americans is so disembodied
compared to others. In addition, Transforming Vision explores the different types of worldviews
compared to a Christian worldview, or biblical view. Furthermore, it discusses how the different type
of world views affects us and if there is any worldview better than another. Chapter 1, World View and
Culture, begins with Anthony s story and how his decision had different responses. After Anthony
became a Christian and grew as a person, he made the decision of leaving his girlfriend when he
realized he did not love her. According to his family, loyalty is one of the greatest of moral duties,
therefore, viewed Anthony s decision as an unpardonable sin. However, in a Christian s perspective
his actions were honest and caring. Each side had a different point of view. World views are described
in the book as perceptual frameworks and not systems of thought like theologies or philosophies. Two
examples are then given to understand how certain cultures view situations, like child rearing

Persuasive Essay On Food Stamps
Billions, that s how much money is being spent every year for food stamps alone. Billions could be
spent on college or getting people out of abusive relationships or saving us from the crippling debt that
we as Americans are facing. Rather , we are buying unhealthy people pop , candy, and cigarettes. Food
stamp regulations should be stricter in order to prevent abuse of the system, decrease the obesity rate,
and encourage people to obtain legal employment so that they no longer need food stamps ,despite the
claim that some people need food stamps. Some people are raising three babies ,trying to be full time
students ,and work a full time job.Others are sixty eight and can t work. I understand that some people
do need the assistance , but where do we draw the line? What kind of food are these people buying?
Celery and chicken breasts or soda and freezer meals? If people are eligible , it s the government s
fault , states Adam Sylvain. The Five Reasons or Food Stamps says Children are the biggest food
stamps benefactor . So much of what people think is going on, isn t or they just don t see the real
issues. Let s get this whole conversation started with the overlapping of programs. Based off of the
information found on the USDA ( US Department of Agriculture) ,people who receive food stamps
make an average of six hundred and forty nine dollars a month for a household of two adults a d two
children. On top of that, some of the families are also eligible for a program called WIC (Women with
Infant Children), this program gives approximately five hundred dollars a month. If a family qualified
for both that accumulates to a total of one thousand one hundred and forty nine dollars. If you can not
feed a family off of that amount of income, then you must be buying lobster and scallops . On top of
that there are other programs to provide financial assistance. As well as many towns having local food
pantries that give out food for free. The money that people are getting without earning could be going
into many other places. Other forms of abuse of the system include parents receiving money for
children that no longer live with them, my mother is a perfect example of this. The New York Times

It s all in the display. When an item, such as a watch or a scarf, is displayed in a glass case, it implies

Even high fashion stores aren t above using the dumping method to display gloves, leather goods,

The True Value of College Athletes College student athletes have some of the most time consumed

the first place. Because college student athletes bring so much to the table in their commitments, there
has been an increased discussion on if college athletes should be paid. With increasing controversy of
the topic, college athletes should ultimately be paid because they are the cause for high revenue

Johnson and Acquaviva make the point that between weight training sessions, film room, practice,
individual workouts, travel, and finally competition, these student athletes cannot feel much like
students. (Brill 7) This further validates the point that college athletes should be paid if they are
spending so much time on athletics, and helping the school earn money along the way. If college
athletes were paid, it would motivate them competitively as well because the revenue the program
brings in is partially based off performance for signing TV deals and getting bids to postseason games
that earn more money for the school. The more successful a team is, the more money they will be able
to negotiate for in TV deals and the more likely they get bids to play in post season games to generate
extra revenue. Universities also make a fortune off of selling Since the players are the source for this
revenue by playing in these games, they would be even more competitively driven to perform their
very best because as a result they would get paid more money and generate more money for the school
at the same time. A win win scenario for both the student athletes and their respective universities.
Many of these college student athletes come from low income homes as well. The argument could be
made that if the university is able to help these athletes families with a form of pay without making
significant sacrifice, then they

Information Security And Security Policies
Information security policies are a key aspect of any information security department. These polices
are used to provide management and employees with instructions of the companies security directives,
eatables short and log term goals, assign responsibility, and define specific standards and processes for
ensuring information and system security. A properly written security policy can be instrumental in
ensuring security and can be used to create security centered employee behavior that is designed to

Security policies are intended to define what is expected from employees within an organization with
respect to information systems. The objective is to guide or control the use of systems to reduce the
risk to information assets. It also gives the staff who are dealing with information systems an

specific mission goals (InfoSec Resources, 2016) All policies created by a company must be sure to be
consistent with any laws and regulations that the organization is required to follow. If a policy
conflicts with any of the laws or regulations, it can open the company up to expensive lawsuit.
However, if you make sure all of your policies follow the laws and regulations, they can be

where someone likes something because it has become linked in their minds with something positive.
After collecting the data, a chi square test showed the results were not statistically significant,

Moreover, although these findings were not consistent with earlier work into the theory of evaluative
conditioning such as that shown by Chen et al. (2012) cited in Brace (2014, p.160) and Hollands et al.
(2011) cited in The Open University (2014), many factors might be present into why this study did not
accurately support this work. For example, choosing participants from amongst family and friends
might make them feel pressurised, to give answers that they believed were wanted. Thus, giving false
results when the data is analysed. This is a limitation as participants should be unconnected to the
researchers running the experiment. Yet the number of participants selected not being too many or too
small struck the right balance between size and effectiveness, this being a strength. Additionally, only
having a Yes or No answer, might limit the kind of data collected, and is another limitation. However,
if participants also wrote a short explanation of why they either disliked or liked the Logo, then more
precise data may have been obtained. Also, it can be argued, the subject matter used may not have
been a positive enough reinforcement image to show participants, for them to reinforce a positive
pairing with the DE100 IPTV logo. Since it could be proposed that participants may have some form
of bias towards liking celebrities over other reinforcing images, as celebrities are constantly seen on
screen and in publications. Furthermore, when showing happy smiling

Alcoholism is a big problem of reservations. Native Americans are four times more likely to die of

Calypso Song Analysis
The 1940 s was a time of conflict, despair, and hope to everyone who was involved in war of the
giants. World War II, as the name states was a conflict on a global scale, with a plethora of nations
involved. In addition, many of those nations created pacts of alliances with each other that only
complicated the fighting. One of the nations that was involved was the country of Trinidad and
Tobago, as a key collaborator with Allies against the Axis of Powers, it provided the area for two US
bases (The Roaring Lion). Furthermore, it provided support during the conflict of the Atlantic. During
this time the Trinidad and Tobago culture became a receiver of many different inputs, in the matters of
all aspects. These new inputs of influences forged the music culture of calypso, the voice of the people
in the form of song. Through calypso melodies, the people of Trinidad and Tobago started to tell their
views of the world events, and during this time the major event was WWII. By analyzing the lyrics of
the Trinidad song that was made in 1943, it can be determined what the current events were at the time
and the political opinions of the native people, which was the changing view on the soviet forces of in
the war.
The lyrics of this calypso song talk about the successful war campaigning of Russia, and as the result
of its movement how the view on the country has changed. These lyrics can be translated as the

which Fitzgerald develops in order to associate the color with Gatsby by having it be the color of his

novel, affairs are very prevalent and are associated with characters of wealth who do not find love in
what they own and cheat in order to try and satisfy themselves. White white Georgian Colonial

the novel, the color white embodies purity and is associated with Daisy via the car she drives and the
clothes she wears which is ironic due to the fact that she loves not her husband Tom, but Gatsby.
2. One example of irony is when Tom states, Nowadays people begin by sneering at family life and
family institutions, and next they ll throw everything overboard and have intermarriage between black
and white. His statement is ironic because he is accusing people of not following traditional American
values while he himself is having an affair with Myrtle. Another example of irony is when Myrtle was

Can Officers Effectively Prosecute Domestic Violence...
When prosecuting criminal domestic violence cases too many officers constructed their entire case
only on statements made by the victim. However, victims of domestic violence are more likely than
victims of other violent crime to recant or refuse to cooperate in prosecutorial efforts (Breitenbach,
2008, p. 1256). Officers must consider that victims of domestic violence may refuse to testify because
of fear of retaliation, intimidation, financial dependence, emotional attachment, and/or because they
reunited with the batterer. If the victim refused to testify during court, their statement against the
abuser becomes hearsay evidence. Several recent cases have had a huge influence on how those

Thus, any out of court statements made by witnesses and/or victims to law enforcement must be
excluded unless the defendant had prior opportunity to cross examine the unavailable witnesses
(Byrom, 2005). The only non testimonial statements that would be utilized in court, without direct
testimony from the witness and/or complainant, were the taped 911 phone calls reporting the incident.
If the victim testified, their previous statements would be allowed as evidence without limitation
because the witness was subjected to cross examination. However, if the victim refused to testify, any
testimonials made to law enforcement were not allowed as evidence in the court proceedings.
In light of these legal changes, officers needed to construct their domestic violence cases under the
assumption that the victim would not be participating in the prosecution. The case commenced at the
time the call was received by dispatch up until the case was presented to a judge or jury. Therefore,
officers needed to complete the proper procedures to secure recordings of the calls made to the 911
dispatch center to report the domestic situation. In addition to having the subject, victim and/or
witnesses complete written and/or video statements, the officer must diligently identify, collect, and
photograph evidence at the crime scene (Ellison, 2002). This required officers to visit the victim
several days later to photograph bruising, because some bruising

Fur Persuasive Speech
Topic: Wearing fur is not ethical
Opening/Attention:
While wearing fur clothing in cold weather as protection goes back to the stone age, the source for this
material came from the wild. Starting in the latter half of the 20th century, producers and wearers of
fur have been criticized by animal rights activists because of the perceived cruelty they believe is
involved in animal trapping and because of the availability of substitutes such as synthetic fibers.
As fur is no longer necessity why should animals suffer to no purpose?

The s Biggest Strategic Asset
Ralan knew that his biggest strategic asset was his biggest tactical weakness his yellow tunic. It would
make him a clear target for every knight in the Tower. It would distract them all from his friends
escape, but it also made him stand out in the sea of white, making him much easier to catch. He didn t
think much about it until he made it through the front gate of the Tower.
Getting there wasn t very difficult. The knights all wore their armor, whether it was the thick
ornamental armor or the chain mail of the working knights. Ralan found it easy to sprint past one
knight while dodging another. In fact, his entire life had consisted of him running through crowds and
avoiding outstretched hands.
One of the things Ralan had mastered was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The knight set his legs, and swung his sword in front of him.
With a slight leap, Ralan feigned a punch. The knight brought up his sword only to see Ralan dive
toward his feet. Just as the guard brought his sword down, Ralan slide between his legs, the smooth
marble of the Tower floor offering little resistance. It wasn t a perfect fit, which was fine for Ralan. He
tugged on the knight s white cloak, which pulled him up and the knight backward. As the knight fell
he got in the way of the other knights. By the time they had realized what had happened, Ralan was in
the the grass field beyond the Tower s large iron doors.
He had escaped so quickly that there was confusion as shouts and alarm klaxons rang. Shouts of Stop
him! were followed by knights looking around for who they were supposed to stop. This is almost too
easy, Ralan thought, as a cry of Stop the Craftsman came from the Tower. Moments later an arrow hit
the ground at Ralan s feet.
Yellow tunic. Surrounded by white. Archers on the Wall. Not good, Ralan thought. And then he saw it.
A large wagon with four horses pulling it. It was on the side of the road with a broken wheel. Thank
you, Maela, Ralan thought. He zig zagged through the field, arrows barely missing him.
Sprinting around the wagon, he stopped as it shielded him from the archers on the wall. He quickly
pulled off his yellow tunic and tossed it on the ground. With a quick sprint, he ran up and leapt onto

The Federalists
The ability to unify a nation in a liberal democracy and work towards obtaining a given objective is
incredibly difficult when everyone s opinion is supposed to be valued. However it s not just valuing
everyone s opinion that can cause concern, but the fact that people are allowed to act on their
opinions, no matter how radical or crazy they are to the majority of the population. This allows for
dissenting opinions against the general will to rise up and hold seats within the legislature; therefore,
legitimizing their claims by thrusting them into the public spotlight. This can be both good and bad
and it was explored in depth by James Madison in The Federalist Papers. In his work he states the
obvious concerns factions can have on a society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Madison s usage of the word most seems to the reader that he is assuming more than 50%, however,
those popular social movements consist of people of all economic standing on both sides. Therefore,
how can the unequal distribution of property be the cause of factions. Without factions (according to
Madison) society would have to be involved in a communist state to guarantee the equal distribution
of property so as not to cause factions to develop. However, society can t enter into a state of an
authoritarian regime because it needs to maintain liberty, a theme Madison believes is unreplaceable.
Instead of trying to remove factions by mandating a communist egalitarian world view (which some
people understand when they read Madison s work, not what Madison himself said), society should
embrace factions as an example of political and intellectual freedom working beautifully. It
demonstrates that dissenting views are able to properly lobby government officials, through either
being elected or organizing protests. There is validity to the claim that factions cause unnecessary
bureaucracy, however, the constitution of the United States formed a government that intentionally
worked this way, it was expected factions would rise up, that s why there is so many checks and
balances. The checks and balance system is the effective way of handling factions, not removing
liberty, and certainly not forming a communist egalitarian state. Factions are not only necessary to
maintaining a capitalist society, but they are also important in guaranteeing that dissenting views and
opinions are allowed to be heard. They serve a role and purpose in the echo

Significantly more beta carotene is absorbed from cooked and processed foods. This is because beta

The Arbi Harnet Movement In The United States
Social movements are the essence of human rebellion for justice. From Malcolm X to Deray in
Baltimore, social movements play a huge part in how we get our voice across to the elite. Even though
some sociologists like Doug McAdam believe social movements alone aren t sufficient to generate a
successful result(McAdam,1982). Others believe that social movements play a big role on how we
pursue and impact societal change. For instance, MADD Mothers against Drunk Driving is a
successful campaign that started with social change and reduced drunk driving by advocating for
change in their own backyard. MLK, Rosa parks, Malcolm X all played a huge role in getting rid of
discrimination and racial division by way of social movement. From the million man ... Show more

Euthanasia Is The End Of A Great Degree Sick Individual
Euthanasia Euthanasia is the end of a to a great degree sick individual s life keeping in mind the end

Class Struggle In Hamlet
Throughout history, class divisions have always been a big issue. Many works today display social
inequality; however, to realize it, one has to look through the right lens. Literary critical lenses help to
see a work from a different angle which leads to a better analysis of the composition. There are many
different lenses and aspects in literature, and one of them is the Marxist Theory. Also known as the
Conflict Theory, this idea claims that class struggle is a big divider in society. Although it is more of a
cultural idea, this concept also applies to literature. In his play Hamlet, William Shakespeare clearly
demonstrates the idea of class struggles; looking at this composition through the lens of the Marxist
Theory, one uncovers that the powerful ones suppress and manipulates the others in an attempt to
display their superiority. Class struggle is really obvious in Hamlet. The royals exploit and use the
lower class in order to achieve their goals. People from the working class obey the Aristocrats
commands and they do not have a big importance in their society. The Aristocrats notably Hamlet,
Claudius and even Gertrude oppress others in order to get what they want and show that they are
superior. Claudius kills his own brother and marries Gertrude in order to have a better chance to be
king since she is the the imperial jointress, to the throne; he does not love Gertrude; he is using her to
get the power (I.ii.9). Even when he has the throne, he still wants more

Rhetorical Analysis Of Modern Technology
Rough Draft 2 of Rhetorical Analysis Essay Modern technology has seen many debates about its
usefulness, its relevance, and its impact on society. Two main parties have bound together, one arguing
that the impact of modern technological advancements has had a positive effect on society, while the
other side believes that it only makes things worse. In their argumentative pieces, Charles Seife and
Eric Schmidt and Jared Cohen address the issue of technology in the modern world, although their
arguments vary drastically, through the use of various rhetorical devices. DICTION Many people
believe that the internet and other advances that have come from modern technology are the best
things that have ever happened to them, and they may be right. However, according to Seife, the
internet only makes things worse. Through his use of diction, especially in his opening statement
opinions are stubborn things Seife clearly embodies a bitter and mocking tone (223). Seife s tone,
though well backed, puts his readers off from what he claims because most, if not all, people spend
lots of time on the internet scrolling through a feed full of things they believe in. He isolates those
who use an online community to strengthen their beliefs. In this way, Seife uses his diction poorly and
ends up chasing his audience away, which is not ideal, especially in the first paragraph. On the other
hand, Schmidt and Cohen take a more positive perspective on technology, focusing instead on how the

  • 2. The Symbiotic Relationship Of The Hypothalamus Interaction... As the control center of the endocrine system, the hypothalamus interacts with the body in a unique way. It has a symbiotic relationship with the pituitary gland, which stimulates the release of hormones to different parts of the body. Located inferior to the hypothalamus, the pituitary gland lies within a cavity of the sphenoid bone known as the sella turcica. The hypothalamus communicates with the pituitary gland through two separate lobes: one leading to the anterior pituitary and another leading to the posterior pituitary. The connection of these two lobes through the infundibulum forms the bridge between the nervous and endocrine systems. The lobe that connects the hypothalamus to the anterior pituitary is called the hypophyseal portal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Poetry Finds Its Most Memorable Moments In Its Least... Poetry finds its most memorable moments in its least characterized elements. It is in the words that are not on the paper or spoken that poetry shines over other forms of communication. The quality and depth of implications in a poem are what separate good from great. It is in the ability to say so much by purposely not saying anything that makes poetry stand out in an observer s mind. Things left incomplete or unsaid naturally stick out in people s minds as there is a want to see the full image or completed thought. Leaving it open for interpretation not only promotes greater attention to other details in the piece in order to make sense of that which is left unsaid, but also naturally promotes discussion and the addition of multiple ... • 7. Gasba Essay Introduction: GABAA (Gamma Aminobutyric Acid) receptors are the main inhibitory neurotransmitter receptors in the mammalian brain. Although these receptors have been found in other parts of the body like liver9, smooth airway muscles of the lungs10, and several type of immune cells11,12, their main function comes in the nervous system, specifically neurons. The GABAA receptors located in the postsynaptic membrane are stimulated by GABA neurotransmitter released from the pre synaptic neurons and functions to inhibit neuronal stimulation in the short term (millisecond time range), while the extrasynaptic GABAA receptors are stimulated by ambient GABA in the extracellular space and confers long term inhibition.2 However, there are many types of GABAA receptors depending on the subunits that they are made up of ... Some other members of this superfamily are nicotinic acetylcholine (nACh), 5 hydroxytryptamine (type 3, 5HT3) and glycine receptors 1, 2 and 3. nACh receptors and 5HT3 receptors contain cation selective channels that depolarize or excite neurons, whereas GABAA/B receptors and glycine receptors contain anion selective channels that, in most cases, hyperpolarize or inhibit neurons. Exception occurs during early postnatal development when these channels are excitatory.5, 3 Neuropathic pain can occur if these channels become excitatory in adults.16 The unique feature of GABA receptors that distinguish it from other cys loop receptors is its activating ligand GABA (or accurately γ aminobutyrate). There are two types of GABA receptors A B. GABAB receptor was originally found due to their insensitivity to bicuculline which is GABAA antagonist1. • 9. My Passion Is Softball Imagine a warm September night under bright field lights. The light summer breeze brushing against your face. A rush of adrenaline through your veins. There s a swell of cheering coming from in the stands and the dugout. You can feel the most overwhelming sense of joy. That is my passion. According to the Merriam Webster English Dictionary, passion means a strong liking or desire for, or devotion to some activity, object, or concept, but that is stiff and set, with no hint of emotion as all definitions are. To me it means a feeling in your chest when you think about something, because you love that one thing so much. Everyone has different passions, but for me one thing strikes a chord. My passion is softball, and it includes so many amazing things even past it s pretty obvious physical benefits. I love softball, because it has allowed me to be healthier, learn many life lessons, and make great friends. It benefits my community by allowing primarily young girls to develop leadership skills, how to deal with controversy, teachability, and gives them an opportunity to make friendships that will last them their whole lives, as well. To understand how softball benefits people, it would be easier if we knew a little history. You probably think it s simple: Softball is just women s baseball. That, however, is not entirely the case. In fact, softball was actually created as the product of a football game. In November of 1887, a group of friends sat at the Farragut Boat Club in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. The Transforming Vision By Brian Walsh And Richard Middleton The Transforming Vision, written by Brian Walsh and Richard Middleton, yearn for a change in the way Christianity is viewed. According to the authors, science, technology and economic growth is what shapes our society, while Christianity stands in the sidelines. The authors aspire to see a change in Christianity where it may receive social and cultural embodiment. In the first chapters, Walsh and Middleton explore the reason behind why Christianity of North Americans is so disembodied compared to others. In addition, Transforming Vision explores the different types of worldviews compared to a Christian worldview, or biblical view. Furthermore, it discusses how the different type of world views affects us and if there is any worldview better than another. Chapter 1, World View and Culture, begins with Anthony s story and how his decision had different responses. After Anthony became a Christian and grew as a person, he made the decision of leaving his girlfriend when he realized he did not love her. According to his family, loyalty is one of the greatest of moral duties, therefore, viewed Anthony s decision as an unpardonable sin. However, in a Christian s perspective his actions were honest and caring. Each side had a different point of view. World views are described in the book as perceptual frameworks and not systems of thought like theologies or philosophies. Two examples are then given to understand how certain cultures view situations, like child rearing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Persuasive Essay On Food Stamps Billions, that s how much money is being spent every year for food stamps alone. Billions could be spent on college or getting people out of abusive relationships or saving us from the crippling debt that we as Americans are facing. Rather , we are buying unhealthy people pop , candy, and cigarettes. Food stamp regulations should be stricter in order to prevent abuse of the system, decrease the obesity rate, and encourage people to obtain legal employment so that they no longer need food stamps ,despite the claim that some people need food stamps. Some people are raising three babies ,trying to be full time students ,and work a full time job.Others are sixty eight and can t work. I understand that some people do need the assistance , but where do we draw the line? What kind of food are these people buying? Celery and chicken breasts or soda and freezer meals? If people are eligible , it s the government s fault , states Adam Sylvain. The Five Reasons or Food Stamps says Children are the biggest food stamps benefactor . So much of what people think is going on, isn t or they just don t see the real issues. Let s get this whole conversation started with the overlapping of programs. Based off of the information found on the USDA ( US Department of Agriculture) ,people who receive food stamps make an average of six hundred and forty nine dollars a month for a household of two adults a d two children. On top of that, some of the families are also eligible for a program called WIC (Women with Infant Children), this program gives approximately five hundred dollars a month. If a family qualified for both that accumulates to a total of one thousand one hundred and forty nine dollars. If you can not feed a family off of that amount of income, then you must be buying lobster and scallops . On top of that there are other programs to provide financial assistance. As well as many towns having local food pantries that give out food for free. The money that people are getting without earning could be going into many other places. Other forms of abuse of the system include parents receiving money for children that no longer live with them, my mother is a perfect example of this. The New York Times has an article ... Johnson and Acquaviva make the point that between weight training sessions, film room, practice, individual workouts, travel, and finally competition, these student athletes cannot feel much like students. (Brill 7) This further validates the point that college athletes should be paid if they are spending so much time on athletics, and helping the school earn money along the way. If college athletes were paid, it would motivate them competitively as well because the revenue the program brings in is partially based off performance for signing TV deals and getting bids to postseason games that earn more money for the school. The more successful a team is, the more money they will be able to negotiate for in TV deals and the more likely they get bids to play in post season games to generate extra revenue. Universities also make a fortune off of selling Since the players are the source for this revenue by playing in these games, they would be even more competitively driven to perform their very best because as a result they would get paid more money and generate more money for the school at the same time. (2012) cited in Brace (2014, p.160) and Hollands et al. (2011) cited in The Open University (2014), many factors might be present into why this study did not accurately support this work. For example, choosing participants from amongst family and friends might make them feel pressurised, to give answers that they believed were wanted. Thus, giving false results when the data is analysed. This is a limitation as participants should be unconnected to the researchers running the experiment. Yet the number of participants selected not being too many or too small struck the right balance between size and effectiveness, this being a strength. Additionally, only having a Yes or No answer, might limit the kind of data collected, and is another limitation. However, if participants also wrote a short explanation of why they either disliked or liked the Logo, then more precise data may have been obtained. Also, it can be argued, the subject matter used may not have been a positive enough reinforcement image to show participants, for them to reinforce a positive pairing with the DE100 IPTV logo. Since it could be proposed that participants may have some form of bias towards liking celebrities over other reinforcing images, as celebrities are constantly seen on screen and in publications. Without factions (according to Madison) society would have to be involved in a communist state to guarantee the equal distribution of property so as not to cause factions to develop. However, society can t enter into a state of an authoritarian regime because it needs to maintain liberty, a theme Madison believes is unreplaceable. Instead of trying to remove factions by mandating a communist egalitarian world view (which some people understand when they read Madison s work, not what Madison himself said), society should embrace factions as an example of political and intellectual freedom working beautifully. It demonstrates that dissenting views are able to properly lobby government officials, through either being elected or organizing protests. There is validity to the claim that factions cause unnecessary bureaucracy, however, the constitution of the United States formed a government that intentionally worked this way, it was expected factions would rise up, that s why there is so many checks and balances. Many works today display social inequality; however, to realize it, one has to look through the right lens. Literary critical lenses help to see a work from a different angle which leads to a better analysis of the composition. There are many different lenses and aspects in literature, and one of them is the Marxist Theory. Also known as the Conflict Theory, this idea claims that class struggle is a big divider in society. Although it is more of a cultural idea, this concept also applies to literature. In his play Hamlet, William Shakespeare clearly demonstrates the idea of class struggles; looking at this composition through the lens of the Marxist Theory, one uncovers that the powerful ones suppress and manipulates the others in an attempt to display their superiority.
