The Goal of Education is the Student Discovering the Power...
I know of no more important goal in education than that the child shall discover the power of his or
her own mind. And I know of no more important source of that discovery for every child, than the
inquiry that lives in continuing exploratory in the classroom. (Lindfors, 1999, p.247)
Kindergarten is the place where children explore real experiences and know how world works. They
start gradually to construct knowledge and transform their curiosities into thoughts and questions. By
wondering to find answers, children find themselves engaged in scientific thinking aimed to solve
everyday problems. This approach needs to be encouraged and developed in an educational setting
where teachers play major role in changing curriculum and organizing instructions to meet children
needs (Poon, Tan Tan, 2009).
Our children, in kindergarten, are exposed to direct instruction method. The problem is that teachers
are not aware that using this method will not lead children to learn science. This method is no longer
appropriate. World has changed, education has changed and young children should master new skills
in thinking. They must develop new understanding of modern life and be able to master new practical
issues .Using the direct method restrain kids from exploring world of science. We must give children
chances to develop new skills and become life long learners. Teachers, who are resisting the change,
are ignorant of the fact that what they are doing in

My Mother s Family s Story
Preface My mother had mentioned to me that her family s story is longer than a book, however, it is so
hard for me to ask the details of what had happened to her because all the stories in her life strike a
chord in her heart. For example, almost all of my father s friends in Hong Kong were the people who
escaped from communist China. Their stories were soul stirring. Many of them left their families in
China. Their vicissitudes of life contained joy, sorrows, partings and reunions. My father was
considered very lucky because he survived. Many of them capsized in the rough sea; some of them
simply spent all of their energy and died on the way to their dream; some of them were caught by the
militias or the soldiers; some of them were extradited back to China by the British government. Their
families left in China suffered numerous humiliations. However, more than thirty years having passed,
their stories were dim without a voice in history. Either their stories were too bitter to bring up, or they
did not want to be named as a traitor to their country. During Mao s era, and even for a while after,
anyone who escaped to Hong Kong was considered a traitor and turned over to the enemy. Escaping to
Hong Kong was a very sensitive topic. Therefore, we would hear these stories all the time, but we
hardly ever see anything written down about what they had been through. I have lived in the United
States for more than thirty years, vivid memories of my childhood still

Who Is Thomas Hobbes Monarchism
Thomas Hobbes Monarchism
Thomas Hobbes was an English Philosopher who had a background in mathematics and science, born
in 1588, who was an avid supporter in the ideology of Monarchism. Which is the support for having
the principle of monarchs. The ex oxford student was fascinated with the why people were being ruled
and the best government. In 1651 Hobbes wrote a famous book called Leviathan. Kraynak, R. (2016).
Hobbes writings focus on the civil wars and anarchy that is caused through the natural and divine laws
due to the will of self governing. Hobbes believed in the established laws and customs in each nation
for security and civil peace which is the monarchical system during that time, even if it was
oppressive. Also that positive

Artificial Neural Networks And Predictive Policing
Sir, please come with me, we deny your access to this building based on the data we received, and we
need you to go through an interrogation with us. How would a person react if he/she is suspected to
commit a crime? How would that person feel if the police just randomly show up and ask for the
intention of whatever that makes him/her suspicious? This is what will happen, frequently, if artificial
neural networks are used as a mean for predictive policing. First, just to clarify, predictive policing is
seeking to prevent future harm and reduce crime rates by analyzing information and patrolling areas
based on the result. The police are able to predict when, where, and what crime is likely to happen
with the help of this emerging ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People often think that if there s science that supports the systems, it would be accurate. However, the
information the systems take in is not just at all. In order to support my argument, I want to point out
that there are cases where colored people are in a disadvantage for more likely to be accused even
though the white are doing the same thing. For instance, the police has always targeted more on black
people than on white people on trafficking. Because the crimes that took place in the past are not in
favored of black people, there are more cases against them. Therefore, the systems sort through the
data and conclude that black people are more likely to commit the same type of crime, and suggesting
the police put more attention on them. If the read in information is not bias free, how can the
prediction be just to everyone? My second argument is that neural networks violate people s privacy
when they collect information from social media or any other means without their consent. Although
some predictive policing software only allow the police to predict the type, time, and location of a
crime, other police systems are used without protecting people s right for privacy. Our data, posts,
information, and pictures are being looked over by the predictive policing systems without us knowing
or agreeing upon it. Therefore, it is not fair for the police to search our

Photosynthesis Lab Report
Abstract
These experiments show the different aspects that effect the rate of photosynthesis. Light intensity
effects the rate of photosynthesis, the more intense the faster the rate. Different colors of light effect
the speed of photosynthesis. Colors like white and blue cause it to go faster, while green is very slow.
Lastly, there are different pigments in in photosynthesis that control what lights are used for that plant.
Introduction
Photosynthesis is one of the most crucial biochemical processes on Earth. This process is used by
eukaryotic plants and algae. They are able to be self sufficient by providing themselves with their own
nutrients. This process uses sunlight water and CO2. The products of this process are glucose and
oxygen. Which is then used in a process known as cellular respiration, whose products are water, CO2
and energy. The two processes are continuously working together.
We completed three experiments on the topic of photosynthesis. In the first experiment, we tested the
effect of light intensity by substituting NADPH with DPIP. DPIP starts out blue and changes to clear
as it becomes reduced. Our hypothesis was the more intense the light is the faster photosynthetic
process and the faster the rate of absorbency. Our null hypothesis was light has no effect on the rate of
photosynthesis. The second experiment tested the effect of different colors, such as red, blue, green,
white, and no light. Our

Ethics Information Systems Assignment 2 11981634
Executive Summary
In the 21st century, information systems are being heavily integrating into our everyday routiunes.
Such systems present numerous morally questionable situations for humans (Mumford 2003).
aforementioned notion is explored within the case study, allowing us to analyse potential problems
that could arise via exploration of Masons 1986 PAPA Framework which includes Privacy,
accessibility, property and accuracy.
Privacy
The power that current and future information systems afford us with to gather information about
people, their preferences, and their activities by way of surveillance, communication, storage and
retrieval is increasing (Mason, 1986). Thus, laws ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jenny has divulged confidential information that her business has tried to keep secret. Such
information included business plans and technical information that could have a significant
commercial value. It is evident that her business was trying to protect their asset as they classified the
information on their ERP system as secret and confidential information .
Jenny could run into law problems as it is a common law duty to not take unfair advantage of
confidential information if received from someone else unless the person who gave it provides consent
(Is4Profit). However, as Jenny has obtained the information in an illicit manner, she has little to no
right to disclose the private information.
Furthermore, Jenny s hacking has revealed an obvious security loophole within her company that
could be used to violate numerous privacy policies and steal personal data that could be used for
illegal or unethical purposes.
Accuracy
Even if data collection is ethical, there are still questions raised regarding the accuracy of the data. In
information systems, we depend intemperately upon the accuracy of such information as inaccurate
information can present many problems for a business (Altschuller 2004).
There is no way of determining that the data Jenny has provided to the competitor business is
accurate. If the competitor decided to use the information in their systems for financial decisions,
inaccuracies could have

Burt s Bees Flavoured Lip Balms Fulfill More Than...
The Offering
Burt s Bees flavoured lip balms fulfill more than physiological needs like moisturizing lips. It brands
itself as a lifestyle focused brand, fulfilling esteem needs, acting like a fashion accessory that reflects
his or her personality to his or her social circles. According to Burt s Bees VP of Marketing, Lip balm
is becoming something more like a gum product that brightens up consumers [and] you re starting to
see a lot more of what I would call personality driven and lifestyle focused advertising, and we re
focused on the flavours as a way to reinforce the fun aspect of the brand . (Oster, 2014) Though lip
balm is defined as a convenience good due to its high distribution and accessibility, the mindset
consumers have now resembles the higher involvement needed for shopping products (i.e. quality,
style, and most importantly, suitability.)
These three samples from their marketing campaign all reinforce this perception. Yes, people need
lipbalm to moisturize their lips, but they want a lipbalm that reflects their inner self. Its TV ads and
print ads feature beautiful, intricate ways of showing off the personalities of the individual lip balms.
The Vines do the same by weaving in music. In none of these three samples do they mention any
functional benefits it s all about art, music, and most importantly, fun and personality. At the core,
Burt s Bees flavoured lipbalm is about self expression, and the happiness people feel after expressing
themselves.

The Contrapasso of Caiaphas in Dante s Inferno Essay
In Canto XXIII of Dante s Inferno, the hypocrites, especially Caiaphas, provide an excellent example
of Divine Justice as contrapasso. The hypocrites presented their ideas as pure and good, while in
reality, they did not act according to their supposed morality or practice the virtues that they preached.
Because in life, the hypocrites said one thing and did another, their heavy garments seem one thing
and are, yet another. The ornate priestly robes worn by the hypocrites are beautiful and impressive on
the outside, but are in reality leaden instruments of torture. Contrapasso is evident in this circle of
Hell, because although outwardly the Hypocrites appear lovely and perfect, underneath their gilded
exterior lies only the heaviness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, he was a hypocrite a man who proclaimed to live for God, but lived instead for his own interests.
Caiaphas did not carry out the law through his secret actions and private dealings with others. He
deliberately appeared good and holy to the people, but in reality, he spoke of one doctrine, and lived
another. Secondly, Caiaphas, as High Priest, insisted that the Sanhedrin crucify Jesus, because he
feared losing his position and power. And thirdly, his hypocrisy sentenced one who was innocent to
bear the sins and guilt of all. Caiaphas was purportedly the authority on God s Word, but he
condemned the Word Made Flesh to death on a cross. As the Justice of Inferno indicates, the
punishment for Caiaphas three fold sin is also three fold. First, because of his hypocritical life, he is
damned to the sixth pocket of the eighth circle of Hell, where he will suffer for all eternity. Dante
referred to the hypocrites burden as a tiring mantle for all eternity (1.23.67). He described the cloaks
as so heavy / that Frederick s capes were straw compared to them (1.23.65 6), which is a reference to
Frederick II, who was notorious for executing criminals by wrapping them in metal capes and then
melting them. And this is only the punishment for the first part of Caiaphas sins! Secondly, because he
condemned the Lord to crucifixion, Caiaphas too is crucified. Thirdly, because he suggested that one
man, rather than one nation, should suffer the penalty of

Characteristics Of Femininity In British Literature
According to The Broadview Anthology of British Literature, There was much debate concerning the
proper place of women and the ideal characteristics of femininity throughout the nineteenth century
(610). Formally, the Victorian Era followed the reign of Queen Victoria in England from 1837 to 1901,
but the era is not so rigidly set. The ideologies, values, and mores associated with the Victorian Era
were present before Queen Victoria, and then followed into America and also lived sixty years past its
recorded date of death. In the United States during the 1950s and 60s, the idea of femininity was still
being explored, just as it was a century prior in another country. Women in the Victorian Era and in
1950s and 1960s America experienced similar oppressions, suppressions, questionings of worth and
intelligence, and similar legal restrictions.
American female authors such as Sylvia Plath and Adrienne Rich called on their dexterous writing
abilities to convey their feelings of displeasure in regards to women s treatment in the 1950s and
1960s. In Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar, Esther Greenwood is a young woman of 1950s America, but she
has thoughts, opinions, and feelings that do not align with those of her society. Similarly, Adrienne
Rich s poem Aunt Jennifer s Tigers features a woman whose society has found its way into her
personal life and her home. Both women cannot escape the Victorian worlds in which they live. Esther
attempts to reject it and fight against it, while

The Effects Of Anterograde Amnesia And Its Diagnostic...
Introduction
Anterograde amnesia is a common and distinguished neurological disorder in the psychological and
neurobiological field. Media depictions of this neuropsychological disorder are not as common as
other forms of amnesia, but it is still incorrectly portrayed. Anterograde amnesia refers to the inability
to retain new information, while still having intact memories that occurred before brain damage
(Carlson, 2014). There have been several studies that focus on anterograde amnesia and its diagnostic
criteria, course, associated features, assessment, etiology, underling neurobiological mechanisms,
treatments, and future research.
Researchers mention that there are two forms of long term memory, which are declarative (explicit)
and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, to further support these theories, researchers tend to conduct studies on the famous
patient case, HM, to propose the consolidation deficit theory, in which those with amnesia cannot turn
short term memories into long term memories (Dewar et al., 2010). However, researchers Dewar,
Della Sala, Beschin, and Cowan (2010), mentioned that HM s case does not fully explain why a
patient with anterograde amnesia has the ability to get better at cognitive tasks despite being unable to
recall having performed those tasks at a previous time. On the same hand, Duff, Wszalek, Tranel, and
Cohen (2008) mentioned that most individuals with anterograde amnesia experience heightened
intelligence, attention, skill, and reasoning levels (procedural memory).
Anterograde Amnesia does not have a specific age of onset, but can occur when one experiences
damage to the hippocampus through viral or bacterial infections, seizures, strokes, or restricted blood
flow. In a study by Clark, Broadbent, Zola, and Squire (2002), rats who had part of their hippocampus
area removed experienced anterograde amnesia as opposed to the control group who did not when
they were placed in a food judgement task. In this task, rats were given different food each day, but
there was one piece of food that remained constant. Here, the lesion rats did not gain a preference or
liking towards a specific food. Meanwhile, the control group gained a preference

of immaturity iin the protagonist, Gene, is his envy toward his friend Phineas.. Gene s jealousy leads

Boo Radley Theory
To Kill a Mockingbird is about a little girl named Jean Louise Finch, called Scout, and her brother,
Jeremy Finch, called Jem. A few houses down from theirs is the Radley s house. Throughout the story,
they try to lure Arthur Radley, sometimes referred to as Boo Radley, out of the house; he s always
inside. Some people are puzzled as to why Boo Radley doesn t prefer to come out of his house, and I
have a theory. This world is a cruel place, but few people realize that. Boo Radley, unlike most,
realized this about the world, and had no desire to have anything with it. He didn t approve of the
monsters people had become, so he stayed inside to stay away from the world. When Boo Radley was
a teenager, he joined a group that was the closest to a gang ever in Maycomb. Once, he caused
mischief, and instead of being punished, his father said that he would be sure Boo never made trouble

Mr. Ewell broke Jem s arm and was going for Scout when Boo came and killed Mr. Ewell with his
own knife. He carried Jem home, but I don t think he saw Scout; it was dark. He saved Jem and Scout
from the vilest person in Maycomb. Killing a mockingbird, hence the title, is referred to by this; since
Mr. Ewell was cruel, it was similar to killing a mockingbird, which in the story is considered a sin
because they don t do anything to you. So in the end he paid for his sin by dying. But this incident
added to why Boo Radley stayed inside, and why he was never seen again after it. Actually
experiencing the cruelty, he desired even further to stay away from it. I can understand why, and if a

Futility In The Zookeeper s Wife
The sheer brutality of the Nazi regime prior to and during World War II not only created an aura of
futility for the millions of women caught directly in the line of sight, but also transformed the absolute
essence of coping with this futility through gendered experiences becoming radically altered. In The
Zookeeper s Wife, Antonina, as the wife of Jan Zabinski, the director of the Warsaw Zoo, shaped both
her domestic and professional undertakings around the mammals that intricately intertwined with her
life. Thus, following the German invasion of Poland and with all semblances of life flipped on its

Joseph Conrad Sexism
Racism is incredibly evident to readers in Joseph Conrad s famous novel, Heart of Darkness. Readers
are able to easily identify the repulsive treatment of African Americans through protagonist character
Marlow s eyes. Many are repelled by the incredibly grotesque description of the native Africans as
savages . However, the underlying theme of sexism is often overlooked in Conrad s writing. He uses
his characters to express his own opinions on a woman s place in society or lack thereof. Though this
book was written over 100 years ago, it is incredibly ironic how relevant this trend is to day. Present
day America pushes so hard to distance itself from racial prejudices whereas prejudices against
women are not only frequently recurring in society, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Contrary to many beliefs, feminists don t want to walk around shirtless. We don t hate men. We don t
want to be treated like men. We have nothing against women who wear dresses and are stay at home
moms. We also have nothing against women who put their careers first and don t want to start a
family. Feminism is the radical notion that women are people, and can be whatever they want to be.
Theodore Roosevelt once said stating a problem without a solution is just whining! , and that s not
what I want to do here. So I am going to suggest a simple solution that if taken to heart, could affect
all of mankind. Ready? Let women be whatever the hell they want to be...and respect them for it!
Because a woman who stays at home and raises a family is not a lazy gold digger. Being a mother is
one of the toughest jobs in the world, and not one to be undermined. But on the other hand, a woman
who chooses not to have children and to focus on her career is not self centered. She is just as smart
and driven as any man doing the exact same thing. It s essential that as a society we move past the
sexist mindset that we see in Heart of Darkness. We re not stuck in the Victorian Era. Women and men
must understand how we can all benefit when given equality. It sets us all free and allows us to
progress. Imagine this country s potential if we could get rid of all

The Secret Of NIMH Film Analysis

Once she uses the magic of the stone the music goes from being a terrible thunder to a voice of
triumph. The change in music makes the audience feel the tension release by going from a loud
foreboding sound to a quiet gentle sound. Mrs. Brisby will save her children and everything will be all

How Buget Cuts Effect Fire Departments
Running head: Budgets and Fire Departments
How Budget Cuts Effect Fire Departments
Leann Rae
Edison State College How Budget Cuts Effect Fire Departments
Budgets have played a major role in fire departments all over the world. In the past couple of years,
fire department budgets have been in the headlines quite frequently. This is especially true in Florida,
where there has been much controversy in the proposal and passing of Amendment 1, in January 2008.
The passing of this amendment has left many counties and cities in Florida having to cut budgets
across the board, which includes the fire and EMS departments. Many departments are facing a
substantial loss in their fiscal year budget which could translate ... Show more content on

In the last few months, we ve noticed that more local governments from the villages to the big cities
have been complaining about shortfalls in their tax revenues. Even those that raised taxes find they re
not collecting as much as they expected because weakening economic conditions have resulted in
fewer business and property owners being able to pay their tax bills. Those that handed out tax breaks
a few years ago are in even worse shape and those in regions hit hard by the mortgage banking scandal
have become disaster areas. Experience also has shown that an arson wave seems to accompany a
recession. In fact, an increase in arson cases is one way of confirming that a recession has arrived. Its
the so called solution some people turn to when they re about to lose everything they own and all that
s left is the insurance on a business or a home. And, just when a fire department needs more trained
arson investigators on the street, some have to cut back in order to put every available body on the
understaffed engine and truck companies. Get ready for more and bisser fires. (Bruno, 2008, p.26).

To be able to achieve that goal, hedge funds employ varied strategies. To understand hedge fund, let s
try to understand one of the strategies commonly seen, that is selling short . Let s assume that we have
two securities that are related to each other, that is, their price behaves similarly to the market
conditions. They move in together over time. Let s assume that at some point in time, they diverge for
whatever reason. This divergence is seen as an opportunity to minimize the risks (or may be
greediness!) and make big profits irrespective of how the market is performing. The hedge fund would
buy security that is selling below its normal range, as it is expected to increase relative to A, and
would sell security A short. Short selling (also known as shorting or going short) is the practice of
selling assets, usually securities, that have been borrowed from a third party (usually a broker) with
the intention of buying identical assets back at a later date to return to the lender.
To understand it even better, let s put some numbers and try to phrase it so that anyone can understand
the concept. Let s consider Beans and Rice, since they are so closely related, we assume that their
price always shows similar trends. Difference between their prices is always a dollar and beans are
always less than rice. For example if rice is 5$ a

Child Beauty Pageants
One would believe that a life of glamorous hair and make up, beautiful gowns, and sparkling tiaras
would be every young girls dream, unfortunately, for many, this dream often turns into a nightmare.
For nearly fifty years children have been subjected to the world of beauty pageants where they have
been forced to behave as young adults rather than the five year olds that they actually are. Young
children spend numerous hours every day practicing speeches and model walks for upcoming
pageants rather than focusing on schoolwork and playing with friends. With an emphasis placed on
appearance in beauty contests, children become devastatingly concerned with the way that they look
before many of them can walk. The lifestyle of child beauty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In pageant settings, parents become extremely critical of their children s appearance and in the book,
Guidelines for Adolescent Nutrition Services, Jillian Croll states that, Familial concerns and pressures
may also contribute to increased body dissatisfaction and body image concerns (157). By letting their
children enter beauty pageants, or forcing them to, parents are not only paving the way for their
children to have lifelong issues with their appearance and self worth, but they are also causing rifts in
their relationships with their children, who may grow to resent their parents and associate them as a
constant figure of judgment in their life. In an attempt to live vicariously through their children,
parents of beauty pageant participants are stunting their children s inner growth and development by
entering them into pageants against their will and before they are old enough to deal with the pressures
of a pageant life. Putting aside whether or not a child willing or unwillingly enters into a beauty
pageant, these contests can cause a number of negative effects regardless of whether a child does or
does not want to partake in them. In various studies, it is proven that children as young as five have a
clear image of what their appearance should be and if it is not up to par with that then their self worth
dramatically decreases and, in contrast, they feel that if they can improve their body through diets and

Policy Making Analysis
The first three chapters of the Introduction to the Policy Process talks about how our society makes
policy and how different events in the country s history can have drastic effects on policy, and how
these different kinds of policy s can have an effect on the American people as well. In this country
policy making has been there from the start after the signing of the Declaration of Independence and
our separation from Great Britain. The readings mention what policy is and its purpose in our
government and the population at large, why policy making is important to study, the elements of the
policy making system, the different environments that can affect policy, and the historical and
structural contexts of policy making in this country. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One thing that the readings mentions that when we look at the policy making process, we should look
at the separation of powers. The separation of powers in our government, is the balance that was put in
place so that no branch has too much power, and that each branch can override a decision, that one
branch makes when it comes to policy. The three branches are the executive branch, which deals with
the president, the legislative branch which deals with the House of Representatives and the Senate,
and the Judicial Branch, which deals with the Supreme Court. Each branch has a separate job to do,
and can influence policy in different ways. For example, the Supreme Court had overruled a policy
that had said that schools could separate kids due to the color of the skin. The Famous court case of
Brown v. Board of Education changed this policy and allowed kids to go to the same school,
regardless of the color of their skin. Many people across the country knew that the separate schools
policy was wrong and the government did nothing to change it for many years. The court case
changed this and overruled a policy that had been put in place many years ago and created a new

An Example Of Social Conflict Theory In The Blind Side
The movie The Blind Side shows many examples of Social Conflict Theory as discussed and covered
this semester in class. A movie set in Memphis, Tennessee, released November 2009, it is a story of a
young black man overcoming difficulties concerning racial stereotypes, racial inequality, and poverty.
Based on a true life story, Michael Oher was faced with many challenges that was out of his control
and the movie shows how he overcome many of those unfortunate challenges with the help of the
wealthy Tuohy family. The Tuohy family is a well to do family that lives on what is considered the
other side of the tracks from where Michael Oher grew up. Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy take Michael
under their wings and into their care and the story evolves from there. When you study the society

The Company s Attrition Rate Essay
III. Staffing Strategy The company s attrition rate is steadily rising. Even with the higher attrition rate,
the marketing and sales teams continue to push sales in an expanding market. Due to higher demand,
the output needs to be heavily increased. All of these factors have lead Motors and More Inc. to look
into what their exact hiring needs are across the organization. Motors and More Inc. does not currently
have a HR department to assist with any of the hiring requirements, including planning, recruiting.
Having a recruiting team that can build a relationship with the technical school and community
college in the area will help draw qualified talent. It will also help to diversify the employee pool, by
reaching out to a growing population of Kurdish and Hispanic in the area. The department will also
help in the aid of having a career succession plan in place when attrition occurs for each level of
employee from entry level up through senior management. Core Competencies Research suggests that
some individuals may be 20 times more productive than others. Clearly, any CEO would welcome as
many of these individuals into an organization as could be mass produced. Matching individual
competencies with job competency models puts individuals in positions where they can contribute
most (Rothwell 2011). Since, Motors and More, Inc. is in need of increasing their output by 96%, this
would be greatly beneficial for the company. Core competencies help a company become

Jesus Kick Off His Sermon With The Beatitudes Analysis
Kicking off His sermon with the Beatitudes, Jesus seeks to illustrate the necessary attitudes for life
within the kingdom of God. These types of behaviors are generally perceived as unconventional. Yet,
all nine of the Beatitudes share two common attributes: dependence upon God and trust in Him.
Starting His sermon this way would have been Jesus way of quickly dispelling the typical views held
by the Jews of His day. Frequently, Jews in the first century wouldn t have considered the aspects
detailed in the Beatitudes as being important or weighty matters. As Jesus intention is to correct the
misinterpretations propagated by the Pharisees and Sadducees, it makes sense that He would

righteousness are blessed and shall inherit the kingdom. Contrary to contemporary views on

reasons. This beatitude exemplifies the idea of unconventional thought processes in the kingdom.
Rather than revile and slander their persecutors, Jesus teaches that they should rejoice and be
exceedingly glad (cf. Matt. 5:12a). Fighting back lends itself to being incorrect or undedicated;
remaining passive, on the other hand, shows a great deal of courage and contentment which would

Robert Wagner, the state senate majority leader, and Alfred E. Smith created bills which led to the

Traumatic brain injury can result in longterm or lifelong physical, cognitive, behavioral, and
emotional consequences (US Dept. of Health and Human Services, 1998). I believe that traumatic
brain injuries and post concussion syndrome, along with the lingering to lasting effects they can have,
should have more long term studies done. There are high percentages of military, as well as athletes,
which are diagnosed with both. My thought is that more knowledge and literature should be required
to be in place for the general public because of the fact that they can happen to anyone, even after
something as simple as a fall. My proposal is that easier access to statistics and data, in the form of
small journals or leaflets, should be made more readily available in doctors offices, clinics, locker
rooms, recruitment centers and the like, so that people can be better informed about the risks and
endangerment that can come from certain activities and combat situations. A mild TBI is Defined as

Theological Understandings of Mediated Grace
Theological Understandings of Mediated Grace
When approaching the concept of grace, many people often assume that it is other a mysterious force
that exists beyond human understanding. They believe that grace is a divine gift that cannot be
humanly grasped because of its supernatural nature. Others believe that mediated grace God as
experienced through the senses in a purely human manner is a vital way to bridge the ontological gap
(an extreme difference in being that separates the earthly and the divine). Christian theologians from
the beginning of the faith have debated the qualities attributed to this phenomenon because of its sheer
importance; when dealing with vastly different elements, such as humans and God, the ... Show more

While most theologians agree upon the existence and importance of mediated grace, they often
disagree upon the exact nature of its role. What this conflict yields though, is not a sense of discord
and disunity, but a greater appreciation of the immense horizon of grace as perceived by humanity.
Perhaps the most obvious example of this is the clash between Martin Luther and the tenets of the
Roman Catholic Church (represented here by their Decree on Justification that was presented at the
Council of Trent). Luther saw grace as the way to salvation, while the Catholic Church intimated that
grace itself was salvation. In his treatise on Christian Liberty, he said very great care must always be
exercised so that no man in a false confidence imagines that by such works he will be justified or
acquire merit or be saved; for this is the work of faith alone. [8] He referred to this kind of grace as
alien righteousness, which he claimed was instilled in us without our works by grace alone. [9] Unlike
the Thomistic precepts that the Council of Trent was working from (Aquinas s theory of deification),
Luther did not believe that grace affected an ontological change in the person. On the other side, the
Trent decree maintained that One truly merits salvation through good works in grace. [10] Luther felt

and natives to understand where the gap is coming from. Near the beginning of the movie, Stacey

judging people just by their skin color or clothing. As the video continued, Stacey joined a group of

The Effects Of Whitewashing In Hollywood
Given that the media is such a major part of how we see the world, it is important to dig deeper into
the message it often portrays. In this day, televisions and cellphones are staple devices in every
household, making it a simple and speedy platform to influence individuals of all demographics.
Hollywood in particular has all the potential to provide positive and true portrayals of Asian culture
through their work but they continue to do the exact opposite in order to please American viewership
which leads to the whitewashing of the material. Race is sadly a factor that goes into choosing the
right person for a role and this is where whitewashing comes into play as white actors are casted in
roles that were originally meant for non white actors. This can be seen in Hollywood as early as the
1920 s up to modern day America. This can have negative effects on our society and the way we view
each other due to misrepresentation and blatant disrespect towards cultures, however it can also bring
awareness and spark change due to the backlash it receives at the same time.
. The practice of whitewashing is extremely prevalent and has become somewhat of a tradition among
Hollywood s many works. Hollywood has a long history of whitewashing that dates back as early as
1919 in D.W. Griffith s film Broken Blossoms in which a white actor played the role of a Chinese
immigrant. Back then, whitewashing was overt and the roles were highly caricatured, especially in the
series of Charlie

Fracture Hematoma Research Paper
A fracture occurs when there is a break in a bone. It can usually be healed, so long as portions of the
blood supply, periosteum, and endosteum are still intact. A fractured bone undergoes repair through a
series of four steps.
The first step in bone fracture repair is the formation of a hematoma. When blood vessels within the
bone tear, they hemorrhage. This results in the formation of a clot at the site of the break. Thus, a
fracture hematoma is formed, stopping the flow of blood into the fracture site which, in turn, cause
swelling.
Capillaries then grow into the fracture hematoma, while phagocytes start to clean up the dead cells
within the injury site. The fracture hematoma becomes more organized into a procallus. Fibroblasts

Vitamin C And Its Effect On Human Body
Chapter 1
1. Introduction
1.1. Vitamin B
Vitamins are a class of naturally occurring chemical compounds needed in fixed amounts for
important body functions. They play important role in energy generations, red blood cells and
neurochemical production. They are micro nutrients which are involved in the biological wear and tear
of the body and an important part of a balance diet. Since the human body cannot produce vitamins
which are required in normal concentration; they can be gained either from food sources or from
dietary supplements. There are total of 13 kinds of vitamins needed by the human body comprising of
vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin K and eight included in the group vitamin B (B1, B2, B3,
B5, B6, B7, B9 and B12). Vitamin B group or complex contains all the water soluble vitamins that
play an important role in metabolism. Due to the watery composition of our body, these vitamins have
the ability to move inside our body and can be removed through urine without any difficulty. Thus,
such vitamins are not stored by our bodies and need replenishing on a daily basis. Fruits and
vegetables are rich sources of vitamin B complex for the body. Processed foods lose their vitamin B
content thus through the process of enrichment as specified by food laws and regulations, the vitamin
B is added into the food. Rich sources of vitamin B include potatoes, whole grains, legumes, nuts,
meat and fish. Due to their delicate chemical nature, vitamin B complex is

Architecture as a Demonstration of Power
Since the recognition of architectures aid in representing power leaders have deployed it to enhance
their prestige and represent their value within their empire. Leaders of cities such as Versailles, Isfahan
and Chinese Imperial cities have implemented architecture in countless ways to portray their own
importance and power over their people. The use of axis and baroque planning is a prime example of
how leaders use city planning to enhance their power by controlling views and how people travel
though the city. Ornamentation and colour are other ideas often used to represent power and riches by
monarchs. Leaders used multiple means of architectural design to further their power and influence
over their city, not only did they use it to represent themselves but also to increase the control they
had.
Baroque planning is a prime example of how architecture can demonstrate power. Powerful rulers
emerged in Italy during the renaissance; primarily the 15th century. One of the initial places Baroque
style planning was implemented was in Italy, specifically Rome. After the decay of Rome the church
needed to restore faith in the people. They began the remodel by adopting axial streets that led to
important areas of the city including churches, fountains and views of grand buildings. This idea was
later adopted by leaders to enhance their prestige and power within their city. The purpose of the
baroque layout is to display a cities strength and power. Land use was divided into

The Use Of Tobacco Products During Pregnancy
The use of tobacco products during pregnancy has influenced the outcomes of infants birth in multiple
ways. Maternal smoking during pregnancy impairs fetal growth and decreases gestational age thus,
increasing several risk factors in the neonatal population. These risk factors are low birth weight
(LBW), and premature birth. There is a strong correlation between both risk factors as it relates to
neonatal long term morbidity and also mortality. Infants who are born preterm accounts for a large
percentage of early neonatal deaths and studies have exhibited that low birth weight babies are at a
higher risk of developing chronic illnesses later on in life (Tong, Jones, Dietz, D Angelo, Bombard,
2009).
Research on smoking and its effects on the development of fetuses along with the birth weight of
newborns have been a studied topic since 1957. Unfortunately, since this time their have been
numerous limitations based on how these examinations were conducted. Even though smoking has
decrease over the year s low birth weight and pre term infants continues to be a risk factor for those
prenatal mothers who continues to smoke.
Smoking during pregnancy has remained one of the most common preventable causes of infant
morbidity and mortality. The rationality behind concentrating on low birth weight infant and
prematurity as a target of importance is made clear by steps taken by the United States government to

  • 2. The Goal of Education is the Student Discovering the Power... I know of no more important goal in education than that the child shall discover the power of his or her own mind. And I know of no more important source of that discovery for every child, than the inquiry that lives in continuing exploratory in the classroom. (Lindfors, 1999, p.247) Kindergarten is the place where children explore real experiences and know how world works. They start gradually to construct knowledge and transform their curiosities into thoughts and questions. By wondering to find answers, children find themselves engaged in scientific thinking aimed to solve everyday problems. This approach needs to be encouraged and developed in an educational setting where teachers play major role in changing curriculum and organizing instructions to meet children needs (Poon, Tan Tan, 2009). Our children, in kindergarten, are exposed to direct instruction method. The problem is that teachers are not aware that using this method will not lead children to learn science. This method is no longer appropriate. World has changed, education has changed and young children should master new skills in thinking. They must develop new understanding of modern life and be able to master new practical issues .Using the direct method restrain kids from exploring world of science. We must give children chances to develop new skills and become life long learners. Teachers, who are resisting the change, are ignorant of the fact that what they are doing in ... • 3. My Mother s Family s Story Preface My mother had mentioned to me that her family s story is longer than a book, however, it is so hard for me to ask the details of what had happened to her because all the stories in her life strike a chord in her heart. For example, almost all of my father s friends in Hong Kong were the people who escaped from communist China. Their stories were soul stirring. Many of them left their families in China. Their vicissitudes of life contained joy, sorrows, partings and reunions. My father was considered very lucky because he survived. Many of them capsized in the rough sea; some of them simply spent all of their energy and died on the way to their dream; some of them were caught by the militias or the soldiers; some of them were extradited back to China by the British government. Their families left in China suffered numerous humiliations. However, more than thirty years having passed, their stories were dim without a voice in history. Either their stories were too bitter to bring up, or they did not want to be named as a traitor to their country. During Mao s era, and even for a while after, anyone who escaped to Hong Kong was considered a traitor and turned over to the enemy. Escaping to Hong Kong was a very sensitive topic. Therefore, we would hear these stories all the time, but we hardly ever see anything written down about what they had been through. I have lived in the United States for more than thirty years, vivid memories of my childhood still ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Who Is Thomas Hobbes Monarchism Thomas Hobbes Monarchism Thomas Hobbes was an English Philosopher who had a background in mathematics and science, born in 1588, who was an avid supporter in the ideology of Monarchism. Which is the support for having the principle of monarchs. The ex oxford student was fascinated with the why people were being ruled and the best government. In 1651 Hobbes wrote a famous book called Leviathan. Kraynak, R. (2016). Hobbes writings focus on the civil wars and anarchy that is caused through the natural and divine laws due to the will of self governing. • 5. Artificial Neural Networks And Predictive Policing Sir, please come with me, we deny your access to this building based on the data we received, and we need you to go through an interrogation with us. How would a person react if he/she is suspected to commit a crime? How would that person feel if the police just randomly show up and ask for the intention of whatever that makes him/her suspicious? This is what will happen, frequently, if artificial neural networks are used as a mean for predictive policing. First, just to clarify, predictive policing is seeking to prevent future harm and reduce crime rates by analyzing information and patrolling areas based on the result. The police are able to predict when, where, and what crime is likely to happen with the help of this emerging ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People often think that if there s science that supports the systems, it would be accurate. However, the information the systems take in is not just at all. In order to support my argument, I want to point out that there are cases where colored people are in a disadvantage for more likely to be accused even though the white are doing the same thing. For instance, the police has always targeted more on black people than on white people on trafficking. Because the crimes that took place in the past are not in favored of black people, there are more cases against them. Therefore, the systems sort through the data and conclude that black people are more likely to commit the same type of crime, and suggesting the police put more attention on them. If the read in information is not bias free, how can the prediction be just to everyone? My second argument is that neural networks violate people s privacy when they collect information from social media or any other means without their consent. Although some predictive policing software only allow the police to predict the type, time, and location of a crime, other police systems are used without protecting people s right for privacy. Our data, posts, information, and pictures are being looked over by the predictive policing systems without us knowing or agreeing upon it. Therefore, it is not fair for the police to search our ... • 6. Lab Report On Photosynthesis Daleigh Drgac Photosynthesis Lab Report Abstract These experiments show the different aspects that effect the rate of photosynthesis. Light intensity effects the rate of photosynthesis, the more intense the faster the rate. Different colors of light effect the speed of photosynthesis. Colors like white and blue cause it to go faster, while green is very slow. Lastly, there are different pigments in in photosynthesis that control what lights are used for that plant. Introduction Photosynthesis is one of the most crucial biochemical processes on Earth. This process is used by eukaryotic plants and algae. They are able to be self sufficient by providing themselves with their own nutrients. This process uses sunlight water and CO2. The products of this process are glucose and oxygen. Which is then used in a process known as cellular respiration, whose products are water, CO2 and energy. The two processes are continuously working together. We completed three experiments on the topic of photosynthesis. In the first experiment, we tested the effect of light intensity by substituting NADPH with DPIP. DPIP starts out blue and changes to clear as it becomes reduced. Our hypothesis was the more intense the light is the faster photosynthetic process and the faster the rate of absorbency. Our null hypothesis was light has no effect on the rate of photosynthesis. The second experiment tested the effect of different colors, such as red, blue, green, white, and no light. Our ... Ethics – Information Systems Assignment 2 Ethics Information Systems Assignment 2 11981634 Executive Summary In the 21st century, information systems are being heavily integrating into our everyday routiunes. Such systems present numerous morally questionable situations for humans (Mumford 2003). aforementioned notion is explored within the case study, allowing us to analyse potential problems that could arise via exploration of Masons 1986 PAPA Framework which includes Privacy, accessibility, property and accuracy. Privacy The power that current and future information systems afford us with to gather information about people, their preferences, and their activities by way of surveillance, communication, storage and retrieval is increasing (Mason, 1986). Thus, laws ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jenny has divulged confidential information that her business has tried to keep secret. Such information included business plans and technical information that could have a significant commercial value. It is evident that her business was trying to protect their asset as they classified the information on their ERP system as secret and confidential information . Jenny could run into law problems as it is a common law duty to not take unfair advantage of confidential information if received from someone else unless the person who gave it provides consent (Is4Profit). However, as Jenny has obtained the information in an illicit manner, she has little to no right to disclose the private information. Furthermore, Jenny s hacking has revealed an obvious security loophole within her company that could be used to violate numerous privacy policies and steal personal data that could be used for illegal or unethical purposes. Accuracy Even if data collection is ethical, there are still questions raised regarding the accuracy of the data. In information systems, we depend intemperately upon the accuracy of such information as inaccurate information can present many problems for a business (Altschuller 2004). There is no way of determining that the data Jenny has provided to the competitor business is accurate. If the competitor decided to use the information in their systems for financial decisions, inaccuracies could have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Burt s Bees Flavoured Lip Balms Fulfill More Than... The Offering Burt s Bees flavoured lip balms fulfill more than physiological needs like moisturizing lips. It brands itself as a lifestyle focused brand, fulfilling esteem needs, acting like a fashion accessory that reflects his or her personality to his or her social circles. According to Burt s Bees VP of Marketing, Lip balm is becoming something more like a gum product that brightens up consumers [and] you re starting to see a lot more of what I would call personality driven and lifestyle focused advertising, and we re focused on the flavours as a way to reinforce the fun aspect of the brand . (Oster, 2014) Though lip balm is defined as a convenience good due to its high distribution and accessibility, the mindset consumers have now resembles the higher involvement needed for shopping products (i.e. quality, style, and most importantly, suitability.) • 9. The Contrapasso of Caiaphas in Dante s Inferno Essay In Canto XXIII of Dante s Inferno, the hypocrites, especially Caiaphas, provide an excellent example of Divine Justice as contrapasso. The hypocrites presented their ideas as pure and good, while in reality, they did not act according to their supposed morality or practice the virtues that they preached. Because in life, the hypocrites said one thing and did another, their heavy garments seem one thing and are, yet another. The ornate priestly robes worn by the hypocrites are beautiful and impressive on the outside, but are in reality leaden instruments of torture. Contrapasso is evident in this circle of Hell, because although outwardly the Hypocrites appear lovely and perfect, underneath their gilded exterior lies only the heaviness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, he was a hypocrite a man who proclaimed to live for God, but lived instead for his own interests. Caiaphas did not carry out the law through his secret actions and private dealings with others. He deliberately appeared good and holy to the people, but in reality, he spoke of one doctrine, and lived another. Secondly, Caiaphas, as High Priest, insisted that the Sanhedrin crucify Jesus, because he feared losing his position and power. And thirdly, his hypocrisy sentenced one who was innocent to bear the sins and guilt of all. Caiaphas was purportedly the authority on God s Word, but he condemned the Word Made Flesh to death on a cross. As the Justice of Inferno indicates, the punishment for Caiaphas three fold sin is also three fold. First, because of his hypocritical life, he is damned to the sixth pocket of the eighth circle of Hell, where he will suffer for all eternity. Dante referred to the hypocrites burden as a tiring mantle for all eternity (1.23.67). He described the cloaks as so heavy / that Frederick s capes were straw compared to them (1.23.65 6), which is a reference to Frederick II, who was notorious for executing criminals by wrapping them in metal capes and then melting them. And this is only the punishment for the first part of Caiaphas sins! Secondly, because he condemned the Lord to crucifixion, Caiaphas too is crucified. • 10. Characteristics Of Femininity In British Literature According to The Broadview Anthology of British Literature, There was much debate concerning the proper place of women and the ideal characteristics of femininity throughout the nineteenth century (610). Formally, the Victorian Era followed the reign of Queen Victoria in England from 1837 to 1901, but the era is not so rigidly set. The ideologies, values, and mores associated with the Victorian Era were present before Queen Victoria, and then followed into America and also lived sixty years past its recorded date of death. In the United States during the 1950s and 60s, the idea of femininity was still being explored, just as it was a century prior in another country. Women in the Victorian Era and in 1950s and 1960s America experienced similar oppressions, suppressions, questionings of worth and intelligence, and similar legal restrictions. American female authors such as Sylvia Plath and Adrienne Rich called on their dexterous writing abilities to convey their feelings of displeasure in regards to women s treatment in the 1950s and 1960s. In Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar, Esther Greenwood is a young woman of 1950s America, but she has thoughts, opinions, and feelings that do not align with those of her society. Similarly, Adrienne Rich s poem Aunt Jennifer s Tigers features a woman whose society has found its way into her personal life and her home. Media depictions of this neuropsychological disorder are not as common as other forms of amnesia, but it is still incorrectly portrayed. Anterograde amnesia refers to the inability to retain new information, while still having intact memories that occurred before brain damage (Carlson, 2014). Additionally, to further support these theories, researchers tend to conduct studies on the famous patient case, HM, to propose the consolidation deficit theory, in which those with amnesia cannot turn short term memories into long term memories (Dewar et al., 2010). However, researchers Dewar, Della Sala, Beschin, and Cowan (2010), mentioned that HM s case does not fully explain why a patient with anterograde amnesia has the ability to get better at cognitive tasks despite being unable to recall having performed those tasks at a previous time. On the same hand, Duff, Wszalek, Tranel, and Cohen (2008) mentioned that most individuals with anterograde amnesia experience heightened intelligence, attention, skill, and reasoning levels (procedural memory). Anterograde Amnesia does not have a specific age of onset, but can occur when one experiences damage to the hippocampus through viral or bacterial infections, seizures, strokes, or restricted blood flow. In a study by Clark, Broadbent, Zola, and Squire (2002), rats who had part of their hippocampus area removed experienced anterograde amnesia as opposed to the control group who did not when they were placed in a food judgement task. Feminism is the radical notion that women are people, and can be whatever they want to be. • 27. The Company s Attrition Rate Essay III. Staffing Strategy The company s attrition rate is steadily rising. Even with the higher attrition rate, the marketing and sales teams continue to push sales in an expanding market. Due to higher demand, the output needs to be heavily increased. All of these factors have lead Motors and More Inc. to look into what their exact hiring needs are across the organization. Motors and More Inc. does not currently have a HR department to assist with any of the hiring requirements, including planning, recruiting. Having a recruiting team that can build a relationship with the technical school and community college in the area will help draw qualified talent. It will also help to diversify the employee pool, by reaching out to a growing population of Kurdish and Hispanic in the area. The department will also help in the aid of having a career succession plan in place when attrition occurs for each level of employee from entry level up through senior management. Core Competencies Research suggests that some individuals may be 20 times more productive than others. Clearly, any CEO would welcome as many of these individuals into an organization as could be mass produced. Matching individual competencies with job competency models puts individuals in positions where they can contribute most (Rothwell 2011). Since, Motors and More, Inc. is in need of increasing their output by 96%, this would be greatly beneficial for the company. Core competencies help a company become ... • 28. Jesus Kick Off His Sermon With The Beatitudes Analysis Kicking off His sermon with the Beatitudes, Jesus seeks to illustrate the necessary attitudes for life within the kingdom of God. These types of behaviors are generally perceived as unconventional. Yet, all nine of the Beatitudes share two common attributes: dependence upon God and trust in Him. Starting His sermon this way would have been Jesus way of quickly dispelling the typical views held by the Jews of His day. Frequently, Jews in the first century wouldn t have considered the aspects detailed in the Beatitudes as being important or weighty matters. Contrary to contemporary views on persecutions, Jesus is specifically referencing sufferings endured from religious people for religious reasons. This beatitude exemplifies the idea of unconventional thought processes in the kingdom. Rather than revile and slander their persecutors, Jesus teaches that they should rejoice and be exceedingly glad (cf. Matt. 5:12a). Fighting back lends itself to being incorrect or undedicated; remaining passive, on the other hand, shows a great deal of courage and contentment which would speak much louder than being combative (cf. 1 Pet. 3:13 ... The Workers Union wanted to hold a public funeral but the city said they refused to let the victims be martyrs to the cause of unorganized labor, because they feared mass demonstration. The Union was outraged. On April 5, the Workers Union held a march on Fifth Avenue as a symbolic funeral protesting the conditions that caused the fire. Nearly 100,000 people attended. When they arrived at the Asch Buildings, the crowd broke out in a heartbreaking cry. A newspaper described it as the most impressive expression of human grief ever heard in the city. Robert Wagner, the state senate majority leader, and Alfred E. Smith created bills which led to the Factory Investigating Commission Law that passed on June 30, 1911. Outraged citizens demanded change from Tammany Hall, which was very pro business, only looking out for people who could give them money. People wanted the government to show that they could represent all people and all workers, not just the wealthy and privileged. Al Smith and Robert Wagner set up a factory investigating commission, which brought along many leading reformers, such as Frances Perkins, who later became the first female Secretary of Labor, Rose Schneiderman, a labor union activist, and Clara Lemich, the Catalyst of the Shirtwaist Uprising. The Factory Investigating Commission had investigations all over the state. They looked at fire precautions, wages, and hours. Smith and Wagner even personally inspected the factories, and they were amazed to see young girls working twelve to fourteen hour work days. After four years, the commission ended its investigations and thirty six of the laws it drafted were passed in New York. Also, in October, the Sullivan Hoey Fire Prevention Law was ... Is seen the back and forth of people, the scent of roses in vases white and blue, the white tablecloths and velvety that move with the passage of the people. The glittering glasses as stars and champagne as cannon ready to be fired, the whispering and the smiles of the guests with their elegant suits and dresses, everything was perfect. finally, the time that everyone expected came, where a young very handsome, elegant, blue eyed, tall and slender but muscular named Jack was going to marry a beautiful and good family girl named Jennifer. Post Traumatic Brain Injury Essay Traumatic brain injury can result in longterm or lifelong physical, cognitive, behavioral, and emotional consequences (US Dept. of Health and Human Services, 1998). I believe that traumatic brain injuries and post concussion syndrome, along with the lingering to lasting effects they can have, should have more long term studies done. There are high percentages of military, as well as athletes, which are diagnosed with both. My thought is that more knowledge and literature should be required to be in place for the general public because of the fact that they can happen to anyone, even after something as simple as a fall. My proposal is that easier access to statistics and data, in the form of small journals or leaflets, should be made more readily available in doctors offices, clinics, locker rooms, recruitment centers and the like, so that people can be better informed about the risks and endangerment that can come from certain activities and combat situations. • 33. Theological Understandings of Mediated Grace Theological Understandings of Mediated Grace When approaching the concept of grace, many people often assume that it is other a mysterious force that exists beyond human understanding. They believe that grace is a divine gift that cannot be humanly grasped because of its supernatural nature. Others believe that mediated grace God as experienced through the senses in a purely human manner is a vital way to bridge the ontological gap (an extreme difference in being that separates the earthly and the divine). Christian theologians from the beginning of the faith have debated the qualities attributed to this phenomenon because of its sheer importance; when dealing with vastly different elements, such as humans and God, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While most theologians agree upon the existence and importance of mediated grace, they often disagree upon the exact nature of its role. What this conflict yields though, is not a sense of discord and disunity, but a greater appreciation of the immense horizon of grace as perceived by humanity. Perhaps the most obvious example of this is the clash between Martin Luther and the tenets of the Roman Catholic Church (represented here by their Decree on Justification that was presented at the Council of Trent). Luther saw grace as the way to salvation, while the Catholic Church intimated that grace itself was salvation. In his treatise on Christian Liberty, he said very great care must always be exercised so that no man in a false confidence imagines that by such works he will be justified or acquire merit or be saved; for this is the work of faith alone. [8] He referred to this kind of grace as alien righteousness, which he claimed was instilled in us without our works by grace alone. [9] Unlike the Thomistic precepts that the Council of Trent was working from (Aquinas s theory of deification), Luther did not believe that grace affected an ontological change in the person. On the other side, the Trent decree maintained that One truly merits salvation through good works in grace. [10] Luther felt ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, they are more isolated into their own part of town because there is a huge gap between the natives and refugees. Stacey Dooley, the main character throughout the movie, tried to understand the point of views from both sides by putting herself in the shoes of the refugees and natives. Throughout the movie, she talked to multiple Muslims and natives to understand where the gap is coming from. Near the beginning of the movie, Stacey talked to a Muslim speaker about the issues that they face on a daily basis. In his opinion, there were always people who made comments about Muslims. However, it got much worse after the 9/11 attacks on the United States. He went on to say that individuals think that all Muslims want to attack other humans; however, that is clearly not the case. It is unfortunate that they are held to this standard due to judging people just by their skin color or clothing. • 36. The Effects Of Whitewashing In Hollywood Given that the media is such a major part of how we see the world, it is important to dig deeper into the message it often portrays. In this day, televisions and cellphones are staple devices in every household, making it a simple and speedy platform to influence individuals of all demographics. Hollywood in particular has all the potential to provide positive and true portrayals of Asian culture through their work but they continue to do the exact opposite in order to please American viewership which leads to the whitewashing of the material. Race is sadly a factor that goes into choosing the right person for a role and this is where whitewashing comes into play as white actors are casted in roles that were originally meant for non white actors. This can be seen in Hollywood as early as the 1920 s up to modern day America. This can have negative effects on our society and the way we view each other due to misrepresentation and blatant disrespect towards cultures, however it can also bring awareness and spark change due to the backlash it receives at the same time. . The practice of whitewashing is extremely prevalent and has become somewhat of a tradition among Hollywood s many works. Hollywood has a long history of whitewashing that dates back as early as 1919 in D.W. Griffith s film Broken Blossoms in which a white actor played the role of a Chinese immigrant. Back then, whitewashing was overt and the roles were highly caricatured, especially in the series of Charlie ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Fracture Hematoma Research Paper A fracture occurs when there is a break in a bone. It can usually be healed, so long as portions of the blood supply, periosteum, and endosteum are still intact. A fractured bone undergoes repair through a series of four steps. The first step in bone fracture repair is the formation of a hematoma. When blood vessels within the bone tear, they hemorrhage. This results in the formation of a clot at the site of the break. Thus, a fracture hematoma is formed, stopping the flow of blood into the fracture site which, in turn, cause swelling. Capillaries then grow into the fracture hematoma, while phagocytes start to clean up the dead cells within the injury site. The fracture hematoma becomes more organized into a procallus. • 38. Vitamin C And Its Effect On Human Body Chapter 1 1. Introduction 1.1. Vitamin B Vitamins are a class of naturally occurring chemical compounds needed in fixed amounts for important body functions. They play important role in energy generations, red blood cells and neurochemical production. They are micro nutrients which are involved in the biological wear and tear of the body and an important part of a balance diet. Since the human body cannot produce vitamins which are required in normal concentration; they can be gained either from food sources or from dietary supplements. There are total of 13 kinds of vitamins needed by the human body comprising of vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin K and eight included in the group vitamin B (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9 and B12). Vitamin B group or complex contains all the water soluble vitamins that play an important role in metabolism. Due to the watery composition of our body, these vitamins have the ability to move inside our body and can be removed through urine without any difficulty. Thus, such vitamins are not stored by our bodies and need replenishing on a daily basis. Fruits and vegetables are rich sources of vitamin B complex for the body. Processed foods lose their vitamin B content thus through the process of enrichment as specified by food laws and regulations, the vitamin B is added into the food. Architecture as a Demonstration of Power Since the recognition of architectures aid in representing power leaders have deployed it to enhance their prestige and represent their value within their empire. Leaders of cities such as Versailles, Isfahan and Chinese Imperial cities have implemented architecture in countless ways to portray their own importance and power over their people. The use of axis and baroque planning is a prime example of how leaders use city planning to enhance their power by controlling views and how people travel though the city. Ornamentation and colour are other ideas often used to represent power and riches by monarchs. Leaders used multiple means of architectural design to further their power and influence over their city, not only did they use it to represent themselves but also to increase the control they had. Baroque planning is a prime example of how architecture can demonstrate power. Powerful rulers emerged in Italy during the renaissance; primarily the 15th century. One of the initial places Baroque style planning was implemented was in Italy, specifically Rome. After the decay of Rome the church needed to restore faith in the people. They began the remodel by adopting axial streets that led to important areas of the city including churches, fountains and views of grand buildings. • 40. The Use Of Tobacco Products During Pregnancy The use of tobacco products during pregnancy has influenced the outcomes of infants birth in multiple ways. Maternal smoking during pregnancy impairs fetal growth and decreases gestational age thus, increasing several risk factors in the neonatal population. These risk factors are low birth weight (LBW), and premature birth. There is a strong correlation between both risk factors as it relates to neonatal long term morbidity and also mortality. Infants who are born preterm accounts for a large percentage of early neonatal deaths and studies have exhibited that low birth weight babies are at a higher risk of developing chronic illnesses later on in life (Tong, Jones, Dietz, D Angelo, Bombard, 2009). Research on smoking and its effects on the development of fetuses along with the birth weight of newborns have been a studied topic since 1957. Unfortunately, since this time their have been numerous limitations based on how these examinations were conducted. Even though smoking has decrease over the year s low birth weight and pre term infants continues to be a risk factor for those prenatal mothers who continues to smoke. Smoking during pregnancy has remained one of the most common preventable causes of infant morbidity and mortality.
