The Discovery Of The Fossil Species Essay
Is there a subspecies of Homo sapiens that lived complete opposite lives as us? Did we cause them to
go extinct or did we live and interbreed with them? I will be discussing aspects of the species Homo
neanderthalensis who lived alongside Homo sapiens and may have even interbred with them. I will be
focusing specifically on the discovery of the fossil species, where the species is in the human ancestral
tree, anatomical similarities and differences with Homo sapiens, and the lifestyle and extinction of the
Neanderthals.
The first fossil found, named Neanderthal 1, was found in 1856 in Germany. The name Homo
neanderthalensis was suggested by Geologist William King, because the fossil was found in the
Feldhofer Cave of the Neander Valley in Germany and tal (a modern version of thal) means valley in
German. (Smithsonian) Some people refer to the species as Neandertal, with no h, to reflect modern
German spelling. Several years after Neanderthal 1 was found, scientists realized that earlier
discoveries in Engis, Belgium (1829) and Forbes Quarry, Gibraltar (1848) were also Neanderthals,
putting the actual discovery date at 1829. Other key specimens are Le Moustier, France (of a 45,000
year old skull which had Neanderthal features in an adolescent individual proving these characteristics
were genetic and not developed during their life), Lagar Velho in Abrigo do Lagar Velho, central
western Portugal (a 24,000 year old skeleton described as a Neanderthal Homo sapien hybrid),

The Role Of Recording Industry Association Of America Essay
The Role of the RIAA in Protecting Intellectual Copyright
This paper examines the role of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in protecting
the intellectual copyright of recordings from illegal downloading, which continues to be a major
problem for the recording industry despite repeated efforts to stop this practice by consumers. This
role of the RIAA relates to the business and economic aspects of the recording industry and illegal
downloads from online platforms. The RIAA s role in addressing illegal downloading has involved
lobbying governments for enforcement of copyrights, litigation against private parties (individuals and
organizations), engaged in illegal downloads, and marketing campaigns encouraging customers to
refrain from engaging in illegal downloads. The paper begins with a background on how the
technological developments led to the problem of illegal downloads before examining the role of the
RIAA in curbing this practice. The analysis then concludes with the finding that the RIAA has been
deficient in curbing this practice, resulting in significant losses in sales, revenues, and profits for the
recording industry.
History of Illegal Downloads
The problem of illegal downloading in the recording industry was a result of specific technological
developments. It was the development of MP3 file formats for digital audio recordings, which first
emerged in the early 1990s, but did not become a significant copyright threat to the recording industry

Jack Blossom Creative Writing
Far off in a meadow, on a warm day in May, a very special, little cottontail was born. One look at him
and his mother, Blossom, knew right away, that he was extra special. Even though she thought him
perfect in every way. He didn t look like any of the cottontails she had ever seen before.
Hmmmm....All of the other new cottontails I ve seen have been pink and wrinkly. And they ve had
barely any fur, she thought. I ve never seen one of such a light color before, either, she thought even
harder.
From the tips of his ears down to his toes, Blossom s new, little bunny had a coat of soft, fluffy fur.
And it wasn t at all like the other cottontails. Theirs was short. And it was gray and brown and white.
But Blossom s new, little bunny s fur was almost white. It was beige. Almost like the patches on the
other cottontails chests.
And ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She licked him and pressed herself against him. She could feel his heart beating, as she listened to him
breathing. And, she could not imagine ever loving anything more.
While they rested quietly, she tried again to think of a name for him. Still, no name seemed right.
Every little bunny needs a name, she whispered to him. And, she hoped she would think of the perfect
name for him soon.
Then the warm, golden sun started beaming over her. That let her know that it was noon and time for
her to go out. Thinking of leaving her little bunny made her tremble and her heart ache.
But, she knew that it was something that she had to do. And that she had to be brave.
She peaked out of her nest and looked this way and that. And she saw no danger. She wiggled her tiny,
pink nose and sniffed and smelled no danger. Very slowly, she crawled out into the meadow. And she
sensed no danger.
Trying to stay calm, she hopped over to the brook and got a drink. Quickly, she drank and drank. And,
the cold water felt wonderful on her

Radiation versus Chemotherapy in the Elderly with Breast...
Radiation versus Chemotherapy in the Elderly with Breast Cancer In clinical practice today the
population is increasing in the number of elderly patients, as is the occurrence of breast cancer in
women 60 years of age and older. According to Tang et al. (2011) the occurrence of breast cancer in
women 65 years old and older is greater than 400 cases per 100, 000 women (p. 3). The appropriate
treatment options for the elderly are not as standard as those for a younger generation related to the
effects the aging process has on the body. Secondary conditions such as congestive heart failure

treatment on functionality are also considered when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each body system in the body undergoes physiologic changes, according to Lilley, Rainforth Collins,
and Snyder (2014) the physiologic changes are as follows: the cardiovascular system exhibits
decreased cardiac output and decreased blood flow that subsequently affect the absorption and
distribution of pharmacological therapies. The gastrointestinal (GI) system has an increase in pH and
decrease in peristalsis resulting in delayed gastric emptying and altering absorption of therapies such
as chemo. The hepatic system has decreased enzyme production and blood flow causing decreased
metabolism. The renal system has decreased blood flow and glomerular filtration rate (GFR) as well
as decreased functional ability resulting in decreased excretion (Lilley et al., 2014). According to
Komen (2009) side effects from radiation therapy will vary related to the area treated and may include
skin irritation, breast changes or swelling, fatigue, dry cough or difficulty swallowing, and
lymphedema. The American Society for Clinical Oncology (2013) go on to add more specific side
effects such as with the skin itching, dryness, blistering, and peeling. They also mention long term side
effects such as developing a secondary cancer from the radiation treatment although the risk is low
and the benefits for treating the current cancer greatly outweigh the risk. Another more site specific

Disadvantages Of Moulding Essay
4.2.4 Advantages of Liquid Silicone Rubber Moulding
Here are several problems that might face with other materials, which would not with LSR:
By Products:
LSR does not generate by products. Its molecular structure makes it appropriate for a wide range of
applications, however, the same structure means it can t be broken apart or recycled. The superior
bonding strength between the silicon and oxygen atoms keeps the polymers from degrading under
temperatures that most thermoplastics cannot withstand.
Restrictive design:
Generally, LSR has design guidelines that are comparable to thermoplastics, but it offers more
freedom in certain areas. LSR gives designers more flexibility in the design process because the
material is more forgiving when compared to thermoplastics.
Planes:
Planes that run the same direction of the mould opening usually require some draft, which allow
milling of the mould. The mould design requires about one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Part geometries can have a great deal of impact depending upon the type of moulding used. Some
work well with automation typical for horizontal LSR moulding, while others work better for the
manual operation of vertical machine moulding. Also, the complexity of the geometry plays a role in
governing the size of the mould and thus the size of the moulding machine.
How will the part be demoulded?
Design for ease of demoulding is just as important as design for moulding. Silicone has high green
tear strength: meaning that very large undercuts may be designed into a product and the parts can be
stretched over them during demoulding without permanent deformation. However, this does not mean
that any geometry may be easily removed from the mould. Silicone s tendency to adhere to the mould
steel after moulding coupled with its natural tackiness can make it quite difficult to remove thick
walled highly undercut parts. Undercuts and wall thicknesses should be carefully chosen during the

The Death Of Julius Caesar
Due to the writing and works of William Shakespeare, the death of Julius Caesar became the most
famous assassination in history. The death of Julius Caesar is placed in full context of Rome s civil
wars by eminent historian Barry Strauss. Moreover, the assassination itself was a complexly layered
plan that was a direct result of Caesar s power and leadership choices leading up to the fateful day.
These key events leading up to the Ides of March and the aftermath that followed are important to the
immense effect Caesar s death had on Rome, and the subsequent historical impact of Rome s demise.
In the height of Rome Caesar formed a political alliance with Pompey that dominated Roman politics.
Furthermore, Caesar s victories in the Gallic War and success of extending Roman territories granted
him ample military capacity. Therefore putting him in an unrivalled position of power and influence.
After assuming control of government, Caesar began a program of social and governmental reforms.
Caesar gave Rome renewed hope and was a leader to the middle and poor classes of ancient Rome.
Although, many historians still debate the details of the highly orchestrated murder, it is universally
apparent that many were involved in planning and carrying out the act. The intricate assassination was
not the work of just one man or women, but a collection of senators who conspired together for what
they believed the greater good. For the senators feared that Caesar, with his new found power,

USAA Code Of Ethics Essay
Ethics is a word that most described with doing what is right, and to be a company that wants to
supply a good or service to people, doing what is right is a quality that company would want to have.
One of the first companies that comes to mind when I think about integrity would be United Services
Automobile Association also known as USAA. This is an insurance company that has so much to offer
other than just insurance like banking services. USAA is a company that started with a noble cause of
just wanting to help those who have served this country by providing discounted rates on insurance.

employee begins to respond to a customer (Fleurke, X.) . Every time a customer calls USAA customer
service, they are ask to do an anonymous survey, because this company genially cares about the
customers and wants to know what the customer wants, needs and likes. The military teaches our
soldiers to build a brotherly bond that cannot be broken, and the retired military employees that USAA
have hired try to build that same bond with every customers. I myself am a client of USAA and I trust

Measuring The Volume And Mass Of A Cylinder, A Sphere And...
Objective This experiment will involve measuring the volume and mass of a cylinder, a sphere and a
wooden block. Based on the mass and volumes of these objects, the density of these objects can be
calculated. The equation for the density of an object is density =mass/volume. In the density equation
there is a direct proportional relationship between the mass of an object and its volume. For instance,
if an object has its mass decreased, its volume will also decrease.
The experiment used a Vernier caliper to measure the height and the diameter of a cylinder. A Vernier
caliper was also used to measure the diameter of the sphere. A meter stick was used to measure the
length, width, and height of the wooden block. The precision of an instrument such as a Vernier
caliper or a meter stick determines how many significant figures the data is presented in. The mass of
the objects being tested will be measured using an electronic balance. The equations used in this
experiment to determine the volumes were the volume of the cylinder: πr2h; volume of the block:
(length)*(width)*(height); and the volume of the sphere: (4π/3) (r3). The volumes of these objects will
be divided by their respective masses to determine the density of each object.
The final part of the experiment will involve using a micrometer caliper to estimate how many pages
are present in the physics lab manual. Accuracy in this experiment will be seen when the calculated
density of the various objects in

Speech Freedom Of Speech
Freedom of speech in school is necessary because it provides students with a voice, it provides
motivation , it causes less violence.
The First Amendment is very important and is needed in school because it can be use to the students
advantage in school and later in life, an article from learning to appreciate the first amendment such an
environment likely would allow students to talk freely about important and controversial issues in the
classroom. But it could also allow students to address these issues these issues through their art, their
clothing and theater performances, and in their after school organizations. (Ralston). and environment
would allow the students to express themselves freely The students also appreciate Freedom of speech
and the first amendment if it is regularly practiced ...students are more likely to appreciate and
understand their free speech rights if they actually use those rights in high school. (Ralston)There is
also a decrease in violence because the students can voice their opinions and protest. The First
Amendment it s purpose is to give the people a voice, how can students voice their opinions if
teachers and staff restrict the students voices? It is important as citizens to follow the constitution as
guidance,It s just as important to have teens and young adults to speak freely.Teens and young adults
want to have their opinion valued as much as an older adult s opinion. As teens are growing into a
young adult they seek more responsibility and to be trusted more.Teens and young adults are given
little to no option with how they can voice their opinion because schools find some topics triggering
and disrespectful even though schools tend to think this, These topics that are triggering are real life
problems and will happen at one point in someone s life and the students feel the responsibility to
cover these topics with other classmates.Violence in the outside world is a definite threat to the
students because hate speech against race, color, sexuality and gender the students feel the need to
inform others of these problems but due to the schooling system they are not allowed to speak about it
without getting in trouble for speaking about these topics that could inflict their

Polyvinylchloride
A polymer is a large molecule built up from numerous smaller molecules. These large molecules may
be linear, slightly branched, or highly interconnected. In the latter case the structure develops into a
large three dimensional network. The small molecules used as the basic building blocks for these large
molecules are known as monomers. For example, the commercially important material
polyvinylchloride is made from the monomer vinyl chloride. The repeat unit in the monomer usually
corresponds to the monomer from which the polymer was made. There are exceptions to this, though.
Polyvinylchloride is made formally considered to be made up of vinyl alcohol (CH2CHOH) repeat
units but there is, in fact, no such monomer as vinyl alcohol. The appropriate molecular unit exists in
the alternative tautomeric form, ethanal CH3CHO. To make this polymer, it is necessary first to
prepare polyvinyl ethanoate from the monomer vinyl ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This latter indicator of size is called the degree of polymerization, DP. The relative molar mass of the
polymer is thus the product of the relative molar mass of the repeat units and the DP. There is no clear
cut boundary between polymer chemistry and the rest of chemistry. As a very rough guide, molecules
of relative molar mass of at least 1000 or a DP of at least 100 are considered to fall into the domain of
polymer chemistry. The vast majority of polymers in commercial use are organic in nature, that is they
are based on covalent compounds of carbon. This is also true of the silicones which, though based on
silicone oxygen backbone, also generally contain significant proportions of hydrocarbon groups. The
other elements involved in polymer chemistry most commonly include hydrogen, oxygen, chlorine,
fluorine, phosphorous, and sulfur, i.e. those elements which are able to form covalent bonds, albeit of
some polarity, with

Discursive Practices and Gendered Reflections of Its Use
Introduction
The following theoretical framework is divided in five sections. The first one deals with the
background to the study where a classification of research studies is done in terms of the way that
language and discourse have been researched. The second part reflects the issue of gender in applied
linguistics. The third tackles some key conceptualizations of literacy in terms of the research study.
The fourth aims to explain how writing is undertaken to fulfill a brief description of the basis that
underlies the study. Within it, it is explained the write to learn perspective that is the scope of the
investigation.
Background to the study
Bucholtz (2003) asserts that discourse is language in context. Discourse enables establishing the
existing relationship between language and gender within a given context. Then, discourse becomes
the materialization of such a relationship. That is why discourse analysis has become one of the most
outstanding methodologies to unravel gender issues within the EFL classroom.
The foci of these studies have been the way the discursive practices are used and what gendered
reflections this use shows. Some of these studies stress discourse as an anthropological tradition
(Bucholtz, 2003). This point of view highlights how language is used in the cultural practices of the
human beings. It also cares for the existing differences between men and women; but most
importantly the closed relationship between culture and language use Explain

Cutting Edge Advancements to 19th Century Surgery
Great Britain in the early 1800s was not the pleasant place we know today. There was garbage rotting
on the streets, waste tossed out windows or into the River Thames, London s supply of clean drinking
water (or so they thought), and was unhealthily overpopulated due to the growth of industry caused by
the invention of the steam engine. Especially in cities, households were tightly packed and
overcrowded, allowing infectious diseases and bacteria to spread rapidly. Open drains and sewers
flowed alongside unpaved streets while inadequate toilet facilities overflowed and seeped into cellar
dwellings. The air was filthy; it was filled with the stench of rotting ... Show more content on

Robert Liston was a Scottish surgeon commonly called the fastest knife in the West End and was
determined to improve the poor odds of surgery in the early 19th century. For most of Liston s career,
he was known for his boldness and speed in major surgical interventions; he could amputate a leg in
under 2 ½ minutes. Although it seems careless, speed was essential to minimizing the patient s pain
and improving their odds of surviving surgery in the age before anesthesia. Liston s success rates were
fairly good: only about one of every 10 of his patients died on his operating table at London s
University College Hospital whereas, the surgeons at nearby St. Bartholomew s lost approximately
one in every four. However, Dr. Liston s speed caused multiple unfortunate casualties in his operating
theater. Due to Dr. Robert Liston s extreme speed, he accidentally took off a patient s testicles along
with the leg that was being amputated. During another leg amputation, Liston managed to perform the
only known surgery in history with a 300 percent mortality rate. As Liston cut through the leg hastily,
he cut off his surgical assistant s fingers and while switching instruments, slashed a spectator s coat.
Unfortunately, the patient and the assistant both died from wound infections and the spectator died of
shock.
Liston not only had a swift and (mostly) steady slice, but he

The Bourgeoisie Essay
Karl Marx describes Society as a whole [as being] more and more [split] up into two great hostile
camps, into two great classes directly facing each other bourgeoisie and proletariat (Marx 124). As
Marx made his distinction between upper class, bourgeoisie, and lower class, proletariats, it is
important to keep in mind the societal structure at the time. To understand how classes were created
and the disparity between the rich and poor, or, bourgeoisie and proletariat, it is necessary to examine
how people came to be rich and poor. Exploring a time before money existed will help us to process
and understand reasons why the binary between rich and poor exists and how it is reflective of low
and high art distinctions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the commodification of natural resources, there becomes a dependency between those who
control the resources and all those who need to use them. At this stage of society people are no longer
self sufficient, but rely upon the network of society to provide food, shelter and jobs (Rousseau). At
this level of society, the founders most often control the resources and begin to live in excess
compared to the rest of the populace. Rousseau s final stage 4) is the state of war, which is triggered
when the rich deceive the poor, and the poor begin to rebel. This state of war is rooted in the transition
from a free, independent mode of living to a regulated lifestyle within the constraints of society.
Someone has to establish any society and as a result, those who establish society through control of
the natural resources will monopolize power (Rousseau). As we see, art does not arrive until all
physiological needs or the basic needs are met as is evident by the happy savage stage. Art arrives
with the improvement of manual labor and hunter gatherer techniques in the division of labor. The
division of labor in turn creates divisions within society, and we can see that evidence in the French
colonial enslavement of native peoples and African slave trade throughout history. The rich and poor
binary can

George Bush Decision Points Analysis
The eight years of George Bush s presidency were some of the most controversial, and consequential
of any president s in our nations history. There were many domestic and foreign concerns that were in
the forefront of the country s mind, and they had to be dealt with swiftly and with great competence.
Whether that is how President Bush handled those concerns is still highly debated, by the common
man and the President himself. In his book Decision Points , President Bush documents the processes
and thoughts he went through in deliberating the responses to the many conflicts that he faced in his
early life, his governorship, and mainly his presidency. As in any presidency there are successes and
failures, and Bush displays his opinions of his. The memoir provides a more personal feel to a man
who was in a position that most people can feel little personal connection with. He provides an honest
and insightful into the inner workings of his cabinet, his decisions, and his reactions to the world
around him. Though typically regarded as a negative presidency by most scholars, Bush does a
sufficient job of manifesting the fact that there were positives of his presidency. George Bush was able

The first step of developing a profitable customer relationship is to understand what factors may affect
customers final decision making. As we known, the factors include previous experience, quality of
objectives, the salesman, sale strategy, service, price etc. In terms of these factors, without cutting
price, we can adopt following actions to attract customers, obtain customers satisfication, develop and
maintain a profitable customer relationship. 1. Product offering must go beyond customers
expectations, and better than their previous experience. * Increase the quality of offering * Provide
product augmentation (for exceeding customers expectations) * Develop a core product with

Schizophrenia is a complex and highly debilitating mental illness that we are currently unable to treat
in any way that guarantees success or return to previous function. It affects around 1% of the
population and is associated with a thirteen fold increase in the likelihood of suicide, so its effective
control is paramount (Gogos et al., 2015). There have been several hypotheses as to the cause of
schizophrenia. Many link genetic and environmental factors, and dysregulations of neurotransmitters
dopamine, glutamate, and serotonin (Egbujo, Sinclair, Hahn, 2016). The dopamine hypothesis

efficacious.
Literature Review
It is hypothesized that dysregulation at the presynaptic terminals can impact functionality at post
synaptic terminals and alter dopamine and glutamate levels (Egbujo et al., 2016). This impact on
dopamine and glutamate could be the precursor to the altered functional connectivity seen in
schizophrenia (Egbujo et al., 2016). The molecular processes that underlie this process include
presynaptic SNARE proteins, synaptic membrane proteins, synapsins, syntaxin 1, synaptobrevin, and
complexins (Egbujo et al., 2016). In many cases, these proteins are under or over expressed in certain
areas of the brain crucial to schizophrenia (Egbujo et al., 2016). The overall mechanism operating
efficiently would involve neurotransmitter recruitment and concentration within vesicles, targeting the
pooled vesicles to the presynaptic terminal, and vesicle exocytosis, endocytosis, and recycling (Egbujo
et al., 2016). The previously mentioned proteins play a significant role in this process. In my novel
medication, I would include a unique chemical property that increased or decreased synaptic
efficiency based on under or overexpression of these crucial pre synaptic proteins. This would allow
dopamine and glutamate levels to return to appropriate levels and hopefully allay symptoms of
schizophrenia. Another potential aspect to my

Role Of Julius Caesar In The Gaul
Julius Caesar s role in the Gaul had a large impact in many aspects of his career such as the military,
wealth and influence on Rome and political power. Julius Caesar was a Roman politician who turned
the Roman republic into the powerful Roman Empire. Caesar overthrew the Roman republic and
founded the rule of the emperors. In this period Caesar used the problems to his advantage and created
his own supreme political and military power, gaining the trust of Rome and building his army. Caesar
is well known throughout the whole world as one of the most powerful and successful leaders that has
ever lived. In his young years, his father had a major impact on him, as he had political success, and
the family has a history in politics, which had helped Caesar in starting out in politics. Julius Caesar s
first important political success had occurred in 63b.c.e when Caesar was appointed the role of Chief
Religious office in Rome; this had set him up for future political roles. Caesar was very strategically
and had many tactics to how he would rule; he always wanted more glory and political and military
opportunities and would overcome all challenges he faced. In 59B.C.E Caesar won an election to
become consul, the senate then assigned him to lands that gave Caesar no opportunities for military
exaltation, as he did not want Caesar to succeed. Caesar realised he would need more allies to
overcome his opponents in the senate. He then formed the alliance that was known as the First
Triumvirate with the Roman General Pompey who brought wealth and military success. During
Caesar s rule he gained a lot of military success due to how he led his army
Military during Caesar s rule was a high contribution of his success. Military success was important to
Julius Caesar as it gave him wealth to succeed in Roman politics. It was important was important for
Caesar because it gives him enormous power in the military; this means his army would be big and
strong and would be able to protect Caesar. Success in a war gave Caesar more glory and brought
more wealth to him, and made Caesar rise more to fame. In Rome political success brought
opportunities for military command, as Julius Caesar already had much political power, his

Icarus As A Mythical Creature Called Icarus
Part 3 8. Beatty had compared Montag to a mythical creature called Icarus. Icarus is a guy in Greek
Mythology that got curious and flew too close to the sun with his wax wings, this caused his wings to
melt and him falling straight to his death. Beatty had compared Montag to Icarus because both of the
characters were curious. They were both curious and got too close to their objects of curiosity, which
ultimately destroys them. They were both warned beforehand, and they both chose to ignore those
warnings and proceed on. For Montag, he got involved with books, and was about to be burned like
Icarus, however he escaped. Montag had his normal life ripped from him and thrown into another
world. 9. In the story, Montag had killed Beatty. While he did that, he realized that Beatty had wanted
to die. Beatty had wanted to die because he was miserable which is not how he normally acts. It has
been hinted in the story that Beatty may have possibly read books before and knows what is going on
with the society. Beatty had said that books were empty and are not worth to read it. This shows that
Beatty knows that the society he lives in was not as good as it seems, however he did not want to go
against the government, so he just does as he was told. This makes him miserable because he may not
like burning books that much, but burning books is his job and he has to do it. To die is sometimes the
quickest way out of all of your problems, however it is also the most cowardly. 10. It

Guns And Crime And Violence Essay
Guns and crime. These two words sound interesting, right? Now think about it deeply, do they really
link to each other? Do guns surely lead to crime and violent issues? If so, should governments set
restrictive rules for people who own and use the guns, such as provide the mental health reports, and
test the shooting skills before purchasing the guns? These questions have been mentioned and
discussed over and over again in today s world. We can often hear the news about gun violence, such
as a tragic mass shooting somewhere around the world and tons of victims who died from the
accident, or husband that shot his wife by accident. Thus, many people, especially people in America,
are asking, and even doubting whether or not it is beneficial to own guns at home without a license. In
my opinion, I think that owning a gun can be helpful sometimes in some ways, as it can always be the
extremely powerful and helpful weapon for self defense, especially when help from the law
enforcement officers are not available.
Being a student in the United States, I have often heard many stories about gun violence. I always
thought it was something that would never happen to me and people around me until that Friday night.
I clearly remember that it was a chill and windy night. A dark sky was full of the blazing stars, and a
round bright moon hanging in the sky. Everything just seemed so quiet and perfect. During the time, I
was sleeping peacefully in bed, and all of a sudden I heard someone

Classical Ancient Greece Essay examples
The expanse of time that the term Ancient Greece defines is all the way from around 7,250 BCE when
the first evidence of burial sites were discovered in Argolid, Greece, during the Mesolithic Period, to
around the year 30 BCE when Cleopatra died in Alexandra, Egypt (1). That is the better part of 7,200
years. Trying to fit all of that information into five to seven pages would be nearly impossible. That is
why I will be focusing on the Classical Era of Greece which spans from about 500 BCE to around 320
BCE. During this time in Greece there were many conflicts and wars, but there was also much growth
in the cultural aspects of their society.

However, for women in poorer families that is not the case. They had to work along side the husband
and most time kids out in the fields. They would normally work their, depending on income, from
morning until night (3). Then, she would come back to the house and take care of it. Greek homes
were really not that fancy. The walls were made with mud brick that were covered in plaster and
topped with pottery tiles to make a roof. The windows were not covered so they were pretty much
open holes. Poor families had normally one or two rooms while rich families had multi roomed and
multi story house. Even though the two classes of people were separated by vast wealth they all had
very basic and simple wooden furniture. (3)
Even though you can t believe everything you see in movies, you can pretty much trust them to
accurately depict the Greek clothing. All but the very rich wore garments made of wool or linen; the
very rich had their clothing made from more expensive things like silk or cotton. The garments
themselves were also very simple. They were normally rectangular cut pieces of fabric with arm holes
cinched at the waste. That was their usual everyday outfit. If men were to travel, they most likely took
with them a cloak and wide rimmed hats. Women, again depending on class, wore many different
types of jewelry including

Struggling To Be An Individual In Aldus Huxley s Brave New...
Struggling to be an Individual Have you ever struggled with being yourself or following a group? In
Aldus Huxley s book, Brave New World, Bernard, Helmholtz, and John struggle with trying to be
individuals and going away from being apart of the Brave New World group throughout the course of
the book. In Brave New World, Aldus Huxley shows how people have been conditioned to be apart of
a group their entire lives and as some of them try to switch it they find it difficult. Also he shows how
when people join the Brave New World it is difficult for them transition without being conditioned.
While being conditioned to be with others since birth, Bernard shows how being an individual helps
him cope with his problems. Throughout his life in the Brave New World, ... Show more content on

always alone, but he did have books to read; John read the works of Shakespeare and the Bible. He
enjoyed doing this because he felt more reading than when he played or spent time with other kids. He
could explain how he felt by reciting lines from the books. When John came to the Brave New World,
he was famous because he had come from the reservation, and it caused him to have many people
around him, which he was not accustomed to. The people around him liked being in groups because
they were taught to do so from a very young age. The citizens of Brave New World are conditioned to
stay occupied instead of feeling or gaining knowledge and that causes them to be very intrusive and
invade John s life. John would rather read or be alone than be with the people in the Brave New

Ramirez Future Plans
Generally, people know the career path they are on as they prepare to graduate college. Most of the
time they are interested in their major and in the best case, they are truly passionate about their
upcoming career. Kenny Ramirez was the perfect example of the best case until four months before
graduating from UC Santa Cruz.
Interviewee
Basic Information
I sat down with Kenny Ramierez in the conference room at the Mayfair Community Center where he
has been the Recreation Supervisor for 10 and a half months. Kenny was working in non profits where
he was implementing progress and change to improve the community. After he presented some of his
ideas in a meeting with city officials, the Deputy Director approached him and very strongly

When the staff arrived at Mayfair on the morning of the interview, they found that taggers had
vandalized the community center. I could tell how deeply this affected Kenny, possibly because of
how much he wants to make the community center a wonderful place for the residents of San José.
Future Plans
Goals
Kenny s short term goals include improving the city wide youth program, assessing programs as they
are, and getting staff to buy into the ideas he has for improvements. As for long term goals, Kenny
would like to move up to a federal level of overseeing programs. He wants to do big things for seniors,
families, and people who have mental health disabilities.
Blank Check Question I asked Kenny a question I ve always wanted to ask in an interview. If he had a
blank check, what would he do with it? I was not prepared for all the ideas that came out: add a
second floor to the community center and expand the gym into the second story, add a parking garage,
take out the solar panels and put athletic turf out on the field, fill the library with Kindles and digital
books so that people have access to pretty much any book, add a dog park, repaint the community
center, re seal the concrete, upgrade the staff break room, put in state of the art computers, and start a

Characteristics Of A Discourse Community
The human identity is worn as a mask with shapeshifting capabilities and espionage. In the real world,
this mask appears simplistic; however, the internet is an abstract space of node connections that
streams a wild flurry of ideas, people, and identities. One s mask does not need a definition to stand
firmly in this chaos but merely need to express what is hidden beneath the mask: humanity. That is
what it means to have the right to anonymity, the freedom of expression and the right to be protected
from outside entities who will stop at nothing to forcefully seize the mask along with physical data.
One discourse community dedicated to protecting the rights to anonymity is the Tor Project, a
worldwide group that helps create an anonymous browser to hide identity details and participates in
establishing it in journalism, academia, activism, and normal users. The exploration of the rights of
anonymity will be examined through the discourse community characteristics of Tor by reviewing
Porters and Swales works in discourse communities, by using methods of primary investigation
through interviewing Tor members, and discussing how Tor fits into Swales six characteristics of a
discourse community.
Literature Review
Two definitive works done by Swales and Porter has helped established on the definition and criteria
of a discourse community. While Swales was the primary source of information for Porter s own
piece, Porter can develop a more in depth view on discourse communities.

Pro Choice And Pro Life Arguments
Abortion is defined by Merriam Webster as the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by,
resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus (Merriam Webster, n.d.). Abortion
is always a passionate topic of debate for anybody. Whether it s a debate for an elected government
position or friends just sitting around drinking coffee, abortion is a topic that has the potential to get
emotionally out of hand. Activists for abortion, also known as Pro choice, fight on behalf of the soon
to be mother to choose to take the pregnancy to term or to terminate the pregnancy prior to the child s
birth and not be stopped by the government or any religious organizations. Activists contrary to
abortion, also known as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, should a person injure or kill a mother and her unborn child, intentionally or
unintentionally, during the event of a crime the person will be charged with the appropriate crime of
two people instead of one. The law also defines what is considered to be a human. It states that any
unborn child in the mother s womb at any point in time of the pregnancy is considered to be human
(Hart, 2004). As of 2015, 38 states have laws similar to the Federal Unborn Victims of Violence Act
also known as fetal homicide laws. 23 of those state laws go as far as applying the law to the initial
phases of pregnancy instead of after a certain period of time (Frantz, 2016). For example, someone in
the state of Arkansas cannot be charged with the homicide of an unborn child until after 12 weeks
gestation whereas someone in the state of Arizona can be charged with the homicide of an unborn
child at any point in time while the child is in the mother ( Key Facts, 2004). Another argument is
abortions are painful for an unborn child to go through. While most abortions are usually done prior to
the end of the first trimester there are abortions that are done in the second or third trimester. The
medical community has different views on whether or not an unborn child can feel pain before 20
weeks. Some doctors will say a child can feel pain at as soon as eight weeks while others will say they
won t be able to feel pain until after the 20 weeks mark.

Leatherback Sea Turtle Research Paper
The Leatherback Sea Turtle, Dermochelys coriacea, is one of the largest marine turtles found
throughout the ocean as a whole. They are found in parts of the East Coast of North America to the
Atlantic of Canada, through New Guinea and the Sea of Nova Scotia. They are shown to migrate to
parts of the Western and North Pacific Ocean during their nesting season where they migrate to
warmer waters. Studies have been done that results in nesting periods of in two to three year intervals
but mating multiple times a season around early spring to late summer, March July (James et al.
2005). They have unique diet such as jellyfish, squid, and tunicates. This organism is very adaptable to

This was showed by testing the packed cell volumes, hematologic health parameter in the blood, of
nesting leatherback sea turtles from a wildlife refuge in the Virgin Islands and then compared those
results to the newly hatchlings. The Results detected a trend after taking samples from 175 samples.
(Perrault et al 2016). This trend that showed a decline of packed volume cells during breeding season
and were higher in turtles that laid more clutches. Which also means that the species recorded foraged
less for food rather than the previous studies stated that they foraged more (Perrault et al 2016). These
compared to the other studies shows that the behaviors in these species may be differed on numerous
factors. These factors could be such as lack of food in one area where the test site was, poor
reproductive rates that season as well as error in the measurements of the collection tools of each
study. One factor most people do not think about is how healthy a species needs to be, and have that
need of a clean environment such as an oil and garbage free habitat, which in recent times may not be
in such a state. All of this factors can result in slow metabolic rates, reproductive rates as well, which
can affect a population of a certain species very rapidly. Without having a steady number of nutrients

Advantages And Limitations Of Procedural Programming
Programming paradigms
Applications and limitations
A procedural programming a program that contains a series of computational steps to be carried out.
Procedural programming is a term to denote the way in which a computer programmer writes a
program. This program works by using sequences of instructions. The types of procedural
programming are pascal, c++ and c.
This is source code written in procedural language. y = 1224; for (x = 0; x 100; x++) { z = y + x;
}
A variable y is being set, then the code enters a loop. this is showing procedural programing as it
defines what the computer should do step by step.
It can be used for mathematical, science or engineering calculations that you want to be solved.
Limitations:
Procedural code is difficult to relate with real world objects, this may make it difficult to design.
As the data is exposed to the whole program there is no security for your data. This could mean that a
new programmer could corrupt the data accidentally by creating functions.
There are many types of procedural programming languages and the programmer might just specialise
in a particular language as they can learn them all. as it written in a low level language it isn t as
efficient as others that many use high level languages.
Object oriented
Object oriented programming is a programming paradigm based on the concept of objects rather than
algorithms, this may contain data in the form of fields. it aims to incorporate the advantages of
modularity and

Muckraking and the Progressive Movement
Progressivism is a movement that occurred at the turn of the 20th century, up until World War I. The
movement consisted of a wide variety of people and groups, all unified by the idea that a basic change
in economic principle was required to remedy the ills of the Western world. While there was a wide
divergence of adherents all referring to themselves as progressive, there were a number of unifying
ideals that cemented them all to this ideal. As such, a journalistic ideal known as Muckraking created a
media platform for promoting the ideas and ideals behind Progressivism. According to Faragher et al.
(2009, p. 559), there were three attitudes and two sources of inspiration that bound Progressive
thought to a central ideal. The first was a general negative sentiment over excess in terms of industrial
capitalism and urban growth created by those in political and financial power. At the same time, there
was also a basic optimism regarding the ability of ordinary citizens to effect the changes perceived as
necessary for a better society in general. The second attitude was the view of society and economics
from a viewpoint of cohesion rather than individualism. The ills suffered on both platforms, according
to Progressivism, was the result of broken cohesion within society and between society and the
economic basis that should sustain it. Finally, the third attitude was the need for citizens to do all they
can to intervene for better circumstances and a better life for

  • 2. The Discovery Of The Fossil Species Essay Is there a subspecies of Homo sapiens that lived complete opposite lives as us? Did we cause them to go extinct or did we live and interbreed with them? I will be discussing aspects of the species Homo neanderthalensis who lived alongside Homo sapiens and may have even interbred with them. I will be focusing specifically on the discovery of the fossil species, where the species is in the human ancestral tree, anatomical similarities and differences with Homo sapiens, and the lifestyle and extinction of the Neanderthals. The first fossil found, named Neanderthal 1, was found in 1856 in Germany. The name Homo neanderthalensis was suggested by Geologist William King, because the fossil was found in the Feldhofer Cave of the Neander Valley in Germany and tal (a modern version of thal) means valley in German. (Smithsonian) Some people refer to the species as Neandertal, with no h, to reflect modern German spelling. Several years after Neanderthal 1 was found, scientists realized that earlier discoveries in Engis, Belgium (1829) and Forbes Quarry, Gibraltar (1848) were also Neanderthals, putting the actual discovery date at 1829. Other key specimens are Le Moustier, France (of a 45,000 year old skull which had Neanderthal features in an adolescent individual proving these characteristics were genetic and not developed during their life), Lagar Velho in Abrigo do Lagar Velho, central western Portugal (a 24,000 year old skeleton described as a Neanderthal Homo sapien hybrid), ... • 3. The Role Of Recording Industry Association Of America Essay The Role of the RIAA in Protecting Intellectual Copyright This paper examines the role of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in protecting the intellectual copyright of recordings from illegal downloading, which continues to be a major problem for the recording industry despite repeated efforts to stop this practice by consumers. This role of the RIAA relates to the business and economic aspects of the recording industry and illegal downloads from online platforms. The RIAA s role in addressing illegal downloading has involved lobbying governments for enforcement of copyrights, litigation against private parties (individuals and organizations), engaged in illegal downloads, and marketing campaigns encouraging customers to refrain from engaging in illegal downloads. The paper begins with a background on how the technological developments led to the problem of illegal downloads before examining the role of the RIAA in curbing this practice. The analysis then concludes with the finding that the RIAA has been deficient in curbing this practice, resulting in significant losses in sales, revenues, and profits for the recording industry. History of Illegal Downloads The problem of illegal downloading in the recording industry was a result of specific technological developments. It was the development of MP3 file formats for digital audio recordings, which first emerged in the early 1990s, but did not become a significant copyright threat to the recording industry ... • 4. Jack Blossom Creative Writing Far off in a meadow, on a warm day in May, a very special, little cottontail was born. One look at him and his mother, Blossom, knew right away, that he was extra special. Even though she thought him perfect in every way. He didn t look like any of the cottontails she had ever seen before. Hmmmm....All of the other new cottontails I ve seen have been pink and wrinkly. And they ve had barely any fur, she thought. I ve never seen one of such a light color before, either, she thought even harder. Almost like the patches on the other cottontails chests. And ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She licked him and pressed herself against him. She could feel his heart beating, as she listened to him breathing. And, she could not imagine ever loving anything more. While they rested quietly, she tried again to think of a name for him. Still, no name seemed right. Every little bunny needs a name, she whispered to him. And, she hoped she would think of the perfect name for him soon. Then the warm, golden sun started beaming over her. That let her know that it was noon and time for her to go out. Thinking of leaving her little bunny made her tremble and her heart ache. But, she knew that it was something that she had to do. And that she had to be brave. She peaked out of her nest and looked this way and that. And she saw no danger. She wiggled her tiny, pink nose and sniffed and smelled no danger. Very slowly, she crawled out into the meadow. And she sensed no danger. Trying to stay calm, she hopped over to the brook and got a drink. Quickly, she drank and drank. And, the cold water felt wonderful on her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Radiation versus Chemotherapy in the Elderly with Breast... Radiation versus Chemotherapy in the Elderly with Breast Cancer In clinical practice today the population is increasing in the number of elderly patients, as is the occurrence of breast cancer in women 60 years of age and older. According to Tang et al. (2011) the occurrence of breast cancer in women 65 years old and older is greater than 400 cases per 100, 000 women (p. 3). The appropriate treatment options for the elderly are not as standard as those for a younger generation related to the effects the aging process has on the body. Secondary conditions such as congestive heart failure (CHF), diabetes mellitus (DM), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and the effects of treatment on functionality are also considered when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each body system in the body undergoes physiologic changes, according to Lilley, Rainforth Collins, and Snyder (2014) the physiologic changes are as follows: the cardiovascular system exhibits decreased cardiac output and decreased blood flow that subsequently affect the absorption and distribution of pharmacological therapies. The gastrointestinal (GI) system has an increase in pH and decrease in peristalsis resulting in delayed gastric emptying and altering absorption of therapies such as chemo. The hepatic system has decreased enzyme production and blood flow causing decreased metabolism. The renal system has decreased blood flow and glomerular filtration rate (GFR) as well as decreased functional ability resulting in decreased excretion (Lilley et al., 2014). According to Komen (2009) side effects from radiation therapy will vary related to the area treated and may include skin irritation, breast changes or swelling, fatigue, dry cough or difficulty swallowing, and lymphedema. The American Society for Clinical Oncology (2013) go on to add more specific side effects such as with the skin itching, dryness, blistering, and peeling. They also mention long term side effects such as developing a secondary cancer from the radiation treatment although the risk is low and the benefits for treating the current cancer greatly outweigh the risk. • 6. Disadvantages Of Moulding Essay 4.2.4 Advantages of Liquid Silicone Rubber Moulding Here are several problems that might face with other materials, which would not with LSR: By Products: LSR does not generate by products. Its molecular structure makes it appropriate for a wide range of applications, however, the same structure means it can t be broken apart or recycled. The superior bonding strength between the silicon and oxygen atoms keeps the polymers from degrading under temperatures that most thermoplastics cannot withstand. Restrictive design: Generally, LSR has design guidelines that are comparable to thermoplastics, but it offers more freedom in certain areas. LSR gives designers more flexibility in the design process because the material is more forgiving when compared to thermoplastics. Planes: Planes that run the same direction of the mould opening usually require some draft, which allow milling of the mould. The mould design requires about one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Part geometries can have a great deal of impact depending upon the type of moulding used. Some work well with automation typical for horizontal LSR moulding, while others work better for the manual operation of vertical machine moulding. Also, the complexity of the geometry plays a role in governing the size of the mould and thus the size of the moulding machine. How will the part be demoulded? Design for ease of demoulding is just as important as design for moulding. Silicone has high green tear strength: meaning that very large undercuts may be designed into a product and the parts can be stretched over them during demoulding without permanent deformation. However, this does not mean that any geometry may be easily removed from the mould. Silicone s tendency to adhere to the mould steel after moulding coupled with its natural tackiness can make it quite difficult to remove thick walled highly undercut parts. Undercuts and wall thicknesses should be carefully chosen during the design ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Death Of Julius Caesar Due to the writing and works of William Shakespeare, the death of Julius Caesar became the most famous assassination in history. The death of Julius Caesar is placed in full context of Rome s civil wars by eminent historian Barry Strauss. Moreover, the assassination itself was a complexly layered plan that was a direct result of Caesar s power and leadership choices leading up to the fateful day. These key events leading up to the Ides of March and the aftermath that followed are important to the immense effect Caesar s death had on Rome, and the subsequent historical impact of Rome s demise. In the height of Rome Caesar formed a political alliance with Pompey that dominated Roman politics. Furthermore, Caesar s victories in the Gallic War and success of extending Roman territories granted him ample military capacity. Therefore putting him in an unrivalled position of power and influence. After assuming control of government, Caesar began a program of social and governmental reforms. Caesar gave Rome renewed hope and was a leader to the middle and poor classes of ancient Rome. Although, many historians still debate the details of the highly orchestrated murder, it is universally apparent that many were involved in planning and carrying out the act. The intricate assassination was not the work of just one man or women, but a collection of senators who conspired together for what they believed the greater good. • 12. Measuring The Volume And Mass Of A Cylinder, A Sphere And... Objective This experiment will involve measuring the volume and mass of a cylinder, a sphere and a wooden block. Based on the mass and volumes of these objects, the density of these objects can be calculated. The equation for the density of an object is density =mass/volume. In the density equation there is a direct proportional relationship between the mass of an object and its volume. For instance, if an object has its mass decreased, its volume will also decrease. The experiment used a Vernier caliper to measure the height and the diameter of a cylinder. A Vernier caliper was also used to measure the diameter of the sphere. A meter stick was used to measure the length, width, and height of the wooden block. The precision of an instrument such as a Vernier caliper or a meter stick determines how many significant figures the data is presented in. The mass of the objects being tested will be measured using an electronic balance. The equations used in this experiment to determine the volumes were the volume of the cylinder: πr2h; volume of the block: (length)*(width)*(height); and the volume of the sphere: (4π/3) (r3). The volumes of these objects will be divided by their respective masses to determine the density of each object. The final part of the experiment will involve using a micrometer caliper to estimate how many pages are present in the physics lab manual. Accuracy in this experiment will be seen when the calculated density of the various objects in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Polyvinylchloride A polymer is a large molecule built up from numerous smaller molecules. These large molecules may be linear, slightly branched, or highly interconnected. In the latter case the structure develops into a large three dimensional network. The small molecules used as the basic building blocks for these large molecules are known as monomers. For example, the commercially important material polyvinylchloride is made from the monomer vinyl chloride. The repeat unit in the monomer usually corresponds to the monomer from which the polymer was made. There are exceptions to this, though. Polyvinylchloride is made formally considered to be made up of vinyl alcohol (CH2CHOH) repeat units but there is, in fact, no such monomer as vinyl alcohol. The appropriate molecular unit exists in the alternative tautomeric form, ethanal CH3CHO. To make this polymer, it is necessary first to prepare polyvinyl ethanoate from the monomer vinyl ... The vast majority of polymers in commercial use are organic in nature, that is they are based on covalent compounds of carbon. This is also true of the silicones which, though based on silicone oxygen backbone, also generally contain significant proportions of hydrocarbon groups. • 15. Discursive Practices and Gendered Reflections of Its Use Introduction The following theoretical framework is divided in five sections. The first one deals with the background to the study where a classification of research studies is done in terms of the way that language and discourse have been researched. The second part reflects the issue of gender in applied linguistics. The third tackles some key conceptualizations of literacy in terms of the research study. The fourth aims to explain how writing is undertaken to fulfill a brief description of the basis that underlies the study. Within it, it is explained the write to learn perspective that is the scope of the investigation. Background to the study Bucholtz (2003) asserts that discourse is language in context. Discourse enables establishing the existing relationship between language and gender within a given context. Then, discourse becomes the materialization of such a relationship. That is why discourse analysis has become one of the most outstanding methodologies to unravel gender issues within the EFL classroom. The foci of these studies have been the way the discursive practices are used and what gendered reflections this use shows. Some of these studies stress discourse as an anthropological tradition (Bucholtz, 2003). This point of view highlights how language is used in the cultural practices of the human beings. It also cares for the existing differences between men and women; but most importantly the closed relationship between culture and language use Explain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cutting Edge Advancements To Karly Meyer April 8, 2017 Cutting Edge Advancements to 19th Century Surgery Great Britain in the early 1800s was not the pleasant place we know today. There was garbage rotting on the streets, waste tossed out windows or into the River Thames, London s supply of clean drinking water (or so they thought), and was unhealthily overpopulated due to the growth of industry caused by the invention of the steam engine. Especially in cities, households were tightly packed and overcrowded, allowing infectious diseases and bacteria to spread rapidly. Open drains and sewers flowed alongside unpaved streets while inadequate toilet facilities overflowed and seeped into cellar dwellings. Robert Liston was a Scottish surgeon commonly called the fastest knife in the West End and was determined to improve the poor odds of surgery in the early 19th century. For most of Liston s career, he was known for his boldness and speed in major surgical interventions; he could amputate a leg in under 2 ½ minutes. Although it seems careless, speed was essential to minimizing the patient s pain and improving their odds of surviving surgery in the age before anesthesia. Liston s success rates were fairly good: only about one of every 10 of his patients died on his operating table at London s University College Hospital whereas, the surgeons at nearby St. Bartholomew s lost approximately one in every four. However, Dr. Liston s speed caused multiple unfortunate casualties in his operating theater. Due to Dr. Robert Liston s extreme speed, he accidentally took off a patient s testicles along with the leg that was being amputated. During another leg amputation, Liston managed to perform the only known surgery in history with a 300 percent mortality rate. As Liston cut through the leg hastily, he cut off his surgical assistant s fingers and while switching instruments, slashed a spectator s coat. Unfortunately, the patient and the assistant both died from wound infections and the spectator died of shock. Liston not only had a swift and (mostly) steady slice, but he ... The Bourgeoisie Essay Karl Marx describes Society as a whole [as being] more and more [split] up into two great hostile camps, into two great classes directly facing each other bourgeoisie and proletariat (Marx 124). As Marx made his distinction between upper class, bourgeoisie, and lower class, proletariats, it is important to keep in mind the societal structure at the time. To understand how classes were created and the disparity between the rich and poor, or, bourgeoisie and proletariat, it is necessary to examine how people came to be rich and poor. Exploring a time before money existed will help us to process and understand reasons why the binary between rich and poor exists and how it is reflective of low and high art distinctions. ... At this stage of society people are no longer self sufficient, but rely upon the network of society to provide food, shelter and jobs (Rousseau). At this level of society, the founders most often control the resources and begin to live in excess compared to the rest of the populace. Rousseau s final stage 4) is the state of war, which is triggered when the rich deceive the poor, and the poor begin to rebel. This state of war is rooted in the transition from a free, independent mode of living to a regulated lifestyle within the constraints of society. Someone has to establish any society and as a result, those who establish society through control of the natural resources will monopolize power (Rousseau). As we see, art does not arrive until all physiological needs or the basic needs are met as is evident by the happy savage stage. Art arrives with the improvement of manual labor and hunter gatherer techniques in the division of labor. The division of labor in turn creates divisions within society, and we can see that evidence in the French colonial enslavement of native peoples and African slave trade throughout history. There were many domestic and foreign concerns that were in the forefront of the country s mind, and they had to be dealt with swiftly and with great competence. Whether that is how President Bush handled those concerns is still highly debated, by the common man and the President himself. In his book Decision Points , President Bush documents the processes and thoughts he went through in deliberating the responses to the many conflicts that he faced in his early life, his governorship, and mainly his presidency. As in any presidency there are successes and failures, and Bush displays his opinions of his. The memoir provides a more personal feel to a man who was in a position that most people can feel little personal connection with. He provides an honest and insightful into the inner workings of his cabinet, his decisions, and his reactions to the world around him. It affects around 1% of the population and is associated with a thirteen fold increase in the likelihood of suicide, so its effective control is paramount (Gogos et al., 2015). There have been several hypotheses as to the cause of schizophrenia. Many link genetic and environmental factors, and dysregulations of neurotransmitters dopamine, glutamate, and serotonin (Egbujo, Sinclair, Hahn, 2016). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A medication with these properties would be difficult to develop, but potentially quite beneficial and efficacious. Literature Review It is hypothesized that dysregulation at the presynaptic terminals can impact functionality at post synaptic terminals and alter dopamine and glutamate levels (Egbujo et al., 2016). This impact on dopamine and glutamate could be the precursor to the altered functional connectivity seen in schizophrenia (Egbujo et al., 2016). The molecular processes that underlie this process include presynaptic SNARE proteins, synaptic membrane proteins, synapsins, syntaxin 1, synaptobrevin, and complexins (Egbujo et al., 2016). In many cases, these proteins are under or over expressed in certain areas of the brain crucial to schizophrenia (Egbujo et al., 2016). The overall mechanism operating efficiently would involve neurotransmitter recruitment and concentration within vesicles, targeting the pooled vesicles to the presynaptic terminal, and vesicle exocytosis, endocytosis, and recycling (Egbujo et al., 2016). The previously mentioned proteins play a significant role in this process. In my novel medication, I would include a unique chemical property that increased or decreased synaptic efficiency based on under or overexpression of these crucial pre synaptic proteins. This would allow dopamine and glutamate levels to return to appropriate levels and hopefully allay symptoms of schizophrenia. Another potential aspect to my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Julius Caesar s first important political success had occurred in 63b.c.e when Caesar was appointed the role of Chief Religious office in Rome; this had set him up for future political roles. Caesar was very strategically and had many tactics to how he would rule; he always wanted more glory and political and military opportunities and would overcome all challenges he faced. In 59B.C.E Caesar won an election to become consul, the senate then assigned him to lands that gave Caesar no opportunities for military exaltation, as he did not want Caesar to succeed. Caesar realised he would need more allies to overcome his opponents in the senate. He then formed the alliance that was known as the First Triumvirate with the Roman General Pompey who brought wealth and military success. Beatty had compared Montag to Icarus because both of the characters were curious. They were both curious and got too close to their objects of curiosity, which ultimately destroys them. Do guns surely lead to crime and violent issues? If so, should governments set restrictive rules for people who own and use the guns, such as provide the mental health reports, and test the shooting skills before purchasing the guns? These questions have been mentioned and discussed over and over again in today s world. We can often hear the news about gun violence, such as a tragic mass shooting somewhere around the world and tons of victims who died from the accident, or husband that shot his wife by accident. As of 2015, 38 states have laws similar to the Federal Unborn Victims of Violence Act also known as fetal homicide laws. 23 of those state laws go as far as applying the law to the initial phases of pregnancy instead of after a certain period of time (Frantz, 2016). For example, someone in the state of Arkansas cannot be charged with the homicide of an unborn child until after 12 weeks gestation whereas someone in the state of Arizona can be charged with the homicide of an unborn child at any point in time while the child is in the mother ( Key Facts, 2004). Another argument is abortions are painful for an unborn child to go through. While most abortions are usually done prior to the end of the first trimester there are abortions that are done in the second or third trimester. The medical community has different views on whether or not an unborn child can feel pain before 20 weeks. Some doctors will say a child can feel pain at as soon as eight weeks while others will say they won t be able to feel pain until after the 20 weeks mark. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Leatherback Sea Turtle Research Paper The Leatherback Sea Turtle, Dermochelys coriacea, is one of the largest marine turtles found throughout the ocean as a whole. They are found in parts of the East Coast of North America to the Atlantic of Canada, through New Guinea and the Sea of Nova Scotia. They are shown to migrate to parts of the Western and North Pacific Ocean during their nesting season where they migrate to warmer waters. Studies have been done that results in nesting periods of in two to three year intervals but mating multiple times a season around early spring to late summer, March July (James et al. 2005). They have unique diet such as jellyfish, squid, and tunicates. This organism is very adaptable to different environments such as having the ability to be in water ... This was showed by testing the packed cell volumes, hematologic health parameter in the blood, of nesting leatherback sea turtles from a wildlife refuge in the Virgin Islands and then compared those results to the newly hatchlings. The Results detected a trend after taking samples from 175 samples. (Perrault et al 2016). This trend that showed a decline of packed volume cells during breeding season and were higher in turtles that laid more clutches. Which also means that the species recorded foraged less for food rather than the previous studies stated that they foraged more (Perrault et al 2016). These compared to the other studies shows that the behaviors in these species may be differed on numerous factors. These factors could be such as lack of food in one area where the test site was, poor reproductive rates that season as well as error in the measurements of the collection tools of each study. One factor most people do not think about is how healthy a species needs to be, and have that need of a clean environment such as an oil and garbage free habitat, which in recent times may not be in such a state. All of this factors can result in slow metabolic rates, reproductive rates as well, which can affect a population of a certain species very rapidly. Without having a steady number of nutrients coming into the organism it can be very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Advantages And Limitations Of Procedural Programming Programming paradigms Applications and limitations A procedural programming a program that contains a series of computational steps to be carried out. Procedural programming is a term to denote the way in which a computer programmer writes a program. This program works by using sequences of instructions. The types of procedural programming are pascal, c++ and c. This is source code written in procedural language. y = 1224; for (x = 0; x 100; x++) { z = y + x; } A variable y is being set, then the code enters a loop. this is showing procedural programing as it defines what the computer should do step by step. It can be used for mathematical, science or engineering calculations that you want to be solved. Limitations: Procedural code is difficult to relate with real world objects, this may make it difficult to design. As the data is exposed to the whole program there is no security for your data. This could mean that a new programmer could corrupt the data accidentally by creating functions. There are many types of procedural programming languages and the programmer might just specialise in a particular language as they can learn them all. as it written in a low level language it isn t as efficient as others that many use high level languages. Object oriented Object oriented programming is a programming paradigm based on the concept of objects rather than algorithms, this may contain data in the form of fields. it aims to incorporate the advantages of modularity and ... • 34. Muckraking and the Progressive Movement Progressivism is a movement that occurred at the turn of the 20th century, up until World War I. The movement consisted of a wide variety of people and groups, all unified by the idea that a basic change in economic principle was required to remedy the ills of the Western world. While there was a wide divergence of adherents all referring to themselves as progressive, there were a number of unifying ideals that cemented them all to this ideal. As such, a journalistic ideal known as Muckraking created a media platform for promoting the ideas and ideals behind Progressivism. According to Faragher et al. (2009, p. 559), there were three attitudes and two sources of inspiration that bound Progressive thought to a central ideal. The first was a general negative sentiment over excess in terms of industrial capitalism and urban growth created by those in political and financial power. At the same time, there was also a basic optimism regarding the ability of ordinary citizens to effect the changes perceived as necessary for a better society in general. The second attitude was the view of society and economics from a viewpoint of cohesion rather than individualism. The ills suffered on both platforms, according to Progressivism, was the result of broken cohesion within society and between society and the economic basis that should sustain it. Finally, the third attitude was the need for citizens to do all they can to intervene for better circumstances and a better life for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Fashion Admission Essay I have always been interested in fashion in a creative way in not just my life, but fashion has also impacted my academic journey. From an early age, I knew belonged in and wanted to be a part of the world of fashion, to not only build a life around Fashion but to make a career for myself in the Fashion Industry. This love for fashion began with me visually examining the red carpets of award shows and being infatuated with the ladies long gowns and the vibrant colors of their dresses. To styling my Barbie dolls and putting on fashion shows with the looks I had created with them. This creative intellect continued to grow with me throughout my education. Starting in elementary school, I always enjoyed Art class. Entering high school, I was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At Victoria s Secret, I was promoted to head of the beauty department and been trained on how to apply makeup for customers for private events we held after hours the store. Because of this experience, I became quite skilled at doing makeup and was even doing makeup for customers and employees outside of work. Wanting to return to school and enjoying the processes of makeup, I choose to enroll in cosmetology school. Starting cosmetology school, I really enjoyed my time there and appreciated all the experiences I got to be a part of everything from fashion shows to assisting with school occasions and cutting client s hair and doing their makeup. At the same time, I felt as though something was lacking. During a week where we concentrated on studying the historical background of hair related to fashion, I realized this wasn t what I was supposed to be doing this with my life. At this same time Victoria s Secret visual merchandising manager had come to visit my store over a year s period throughout his visits, he saw how passionate I was towards Fashion. Each time he visited he complimented me on how great I was at visual merchandising and asked me repeatedly why I wasn t going to school for fashion. After many conversations I had with him I knew for sure I didn t belong in cosmetology school and wanted to return to Austin Community College. During a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
