The Life and Work of David Sedaris
David Sedaris has been compared to some of the greatest names in American Literature, including
Mark Twain, Dorothy Parker and James Thurber (Moredock). Not surprisingly, all of the
aforementioned authors captivated audiences with their sarcasm, wit, and humor three characteristics
that are indicative of Sedaris s writing in general. Sedaris has made a career as an author and recording
artist (having broadcast and recorded his works of literature numerous times) who finds insight and
points of laughter in the ordinary nuances of life. Most of his articles are autobiographical in nature, or
at least involve him as one of the principle characters in them. His 2004 book, Dress Your Family in
Corduroy and Denim, is quite typical in this respect. An analysis of a pair of articles in this
manuscript, Us and Them and The Girl Next Door , illustrates the author s propensity for detailing
some of the more humorous aspects of non traditional American families.
Sedaris was born in 1956, and spent part of his formative years living in upstate New York. His family
would soon move down south to North Carolina in the early 1960 s, exposing the fledgling author to
some semblance of city life. By his own accounts, his tenure in New York was spent in an exceedingly
rural location, which contrasted sharply with his surroundings in North Carolina. The unconventional
wit and humor (Burroughs) that the author displays in his writings more than likely descended, in part,
from his unusual

Time and Motion Study
* Model for the construction industry using pre determined times Jasper Van Gilsa, Leo Vaningelgema
Abstract This paper is based on our work experience with Office line. This company prepares standard
times for companies in the industrial sector. Standard time is productive time that is required and
achieved by an employee. Standard time contains everything that is necessary for the work specified
to be completed. The reason why Office line only prepare standard times for the industrial sector
rather than the construction industry is due to the repetitive nature of the work. One example is the car
industry which uses assembly lines. In the construction sector, this kind of repetition is not so evident.
There is repetitiveness in some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This includes that we have to make a more than one measurement to become a reliable average for
these tasks. A second importance that we need to take notice of using chrono, is the performance level
at which the employee is working. An execution time of a specific person can not be used as a
reference for or employees and as a consequency we can t set these specific times as standards. Tools
that can help us by adding a tempo to our measurements are tempo scales. These scales will make sure
that execution times will be calibrated and that we become standard times. Standard times can be
executed by any valid employee in a social acceptable space of time. Bedaux scale This tempo scale
was designed by the Frenchman Bedaux. He saw that not all employees were working at the same
performance level. So he had the idea to add a value from 0 to 100 to the performance levels where
100 stands for the maximum pace which can only be performed for a short period and zero for doing
nothing at all. A score of 60 is the level every valid employee should be able to perform for a complete
week, 8 hours per day. For his scale, Bedaux compared the working tempo with walking (60) and
running (100) that we know starts from a speed of 7,5 km/h. Walking at the speed of 4,5 km/h matches
the score of 60 Bedaux points. Berenschot scale * For some people the Bedaux scale was a bit

My First Disney Trip
My first Disney trip was everything I imagined and more. Disney is the most magical place on Earth.
Although I was scared to get on all the big rides I still managed to get on. I would stay calm in all of
the lines, but whenever I saw I was about to get on the ride I would get the biggest knots in my
stomach. On Tower of Terror, I was very close to crying, but I got through it. A very scary ride is
Space Mountain. It was like I wanted to start balling out crying, but it was just tears falling out of my
eyes. I also hated big drops at the time. The rides with big drops like Splash Mountain, Tower of
Terror, and Space Mountain made me lose my stomach. My favorite roller coaster is Rockin Roller
Coaster. Rockin Roller Coaster is a fast loopy loop ride, but it s very smooth and easy going. I do not
like jerky rides like the primeval whirl that jerks you every which way.
There are also 4 parks to go to in Disney. There is Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and
Hollywood Studios. My favorite park is the Magic Kingdom because there is more to do there, but I
like the other ones too.
I also love the food at Disney World. They have the best fries ever. Their ice cream is also amazing.
There is this ice cream called Pine Apple Dole Whip and it is the best you ll ever taste. The best
restaurants at Disney is Cosmic Rays, Dino Bite, and, Casey s Corner. I always get fries and chicken
tenders.
One of the things I love about Disney is the memories we make with family and friends.

The Effects Of Jerry Sandusky Scandal
One of the biggest negative events to ever hit the sports world in the past decade came from the Jerry
Sandusky scandal at Penn State University. This scandal lead to the firing of Jerry Sandusky, Joe
Paterno, Graham Spanier, Tim Curley, and Gary Schultz who all held high level official capacities at
the college. What made this scandal so huge was the fact that the Penn State football program as well
as head coach Joe Paterno were highly admired and praised. Furthermore, the most shocking aspect of
the scandal is how it was kept silent. The scandal kept making itself advent which left the school in a
crisis and ruined its reputation. The issue with this scandal is that it involved a wide range of criminal,
moral, ethical and sexual misconduct.

Comparing Orwell And Didion As A Writer
By which I mean not a good writer or a bad writer but simply a writer, a person whose most absorbed
and passionate hours are spent arranging words on pieces of paper. Had my credential been in order I
would never have become a writer. Had I been blessed with even limited access to my own mind there
would have been no reason to write. I write entirely to find out what I m thinking, what I m looking at
what I see and what it means.
I know several people who would fit this description, they write to figure out what they want to say. I
on the other hand, have to know want picture I want to paint for the reader before I begin to write.
Last semester, I had the opportunity to do some creative writing for the first time; the writing would
flow smoothly when I had a clear idea of what I want to convey or become stunted when I lost sight of
what I meant to express. Although, I can observe the benefits of both styles of writing, I personally
relate to the Orwellian (purpose driven) type of writing for that reason. ... Show more content on

Nevertheless, the plethora of notice that 50NL has received regarding the grounds for Respondents
objection is more than sufficient so as to permit this Court to reach the questions as to whether the
requested discovery is unduly burdensome or costly, and whether 50NL s need outweighs the burden
and cost. II. The Discovery Requested by 50NL is Unduly Burdensome and Costly, and 50NL s Need
Does Not Outweigh Avpro s Burden and Cost. The relevant inquiry in this matter is whether the
discovery requested of Avpro is unduly burdensome and costly, and if so, whether 50NL has shown
that its need for the discovery outweighs the burden and cost of locating, retrieving, and producing the
information. Md. Rule 2 402(b)(2) (emphasis added). Notably, the plain and unambiguous text of this
rule indicates that upon a prima facie showing of undue burden or cost, 50NL must affirmatively show
that its need for the discovery outweighs Avpro s burden and cost

Socrates In Plato s The Apologia
The Apologia
Through the analyzing of The Apologia, is it learned much about the life of Socrates as well as how he
lived. In the Apology, Plato recounts the words given by Socrates during his trying in which he was
sentenced to death. During the trial, Socrates defends himself on two charges, which are set in writing
by Meletus, one of the prosecutors. The first set of charges Socrates refers to them as the first lying
accusations , and are informal charges to set an image of who people believe Socrates to be. The
second set makes up the formal accusations and the charges that they hope commit Socrates to death.
The speech was given by Socrates to defend himself to the Athenian Council against chargers of
corrupting the young, and by not believing in the gods the city believes that are in the novel. Although
no such speech was recorded, with the idea that Plato was at the trial, we can conclude that the
dialogue of the Apologia contains words as they were remembered by Plato. The original speech was
written in 399 BC in hopes of Socrates defending his reputation against his accusers. The speech was
then rewritten by Plato as remembers the trial and words . Socrates. addresses each charges in the
attempt to convince the Men of Athens that he was not who his accusers claim for him to be. ... Show

Efforts of the European Union to Help Combat the Greek...
European Union (EU) plays a major part in facing this Greek financial debt crisis, which requires a
major restructuring in the economic sector and to tighten stronger integration among EU member
country. The primary focal point is on restoring the sustainability of public finances and addressing
other macroeconomic imbalances by fostering fiscal discipline. In addition, new rules are set to ensure
stronger and more effective economic governance, particularly in the euro zone area, with adequate
mechanisms to monitor progress and ensure enforcement.
Facing the crisis, Greece has received two bailout packages from the EU, European Commissions

What is now called the European Exploration is a period in the sixteenth and seventeenth century
when explores went out to search for new land and trading routes. Factors such as economic, political,
and cultural were the causes of the exploration. Before exploration in Europe, they experienced the
Black Death. The Black Death was a bubonic plague cause by the spread of bacteria. The plague
killed up to 30 to 60 percent of Europe s population. After the Black Death Europe experienced a

of the Iberian Peninsula. The Christian Reconquista brought passion and energy to Europe and

the non Christian territories. In addition, eagerness for exploration was increased by a lack of
opportunity at home. Due to the Reconquista, many Spanish men of the upper classes found their

Monarchies had many motivations to expand one of them including, being able to profit from trade.
Also monarchies had the desire to please God, which would be fulfilled by exploring new lands and

Want to get leaner, faster, and stronger? Looking for the best way to maximize your workouts? Then
you should try HIIT training. This acronym stands for high intensity interval training, which is one of
the most effective workouts available today. It s the perfect way to burn fat and boost your
performance while preserving lean muscle.
How Does HIIT Work?
High intensity interval training has become one of the most popular workouts for fat loss. Compared
to regular cardio, it produces better results in less time. On top of that, it melts fat away and helps
build muscle. Steady state cardio burns fat too, but it may also cause muscle loss and increase cortisol

Nonconformism In Manuel Puigan s Kiss Of Spider Woman
In a society governed by straight, cis gender men, the nonconformists have been pushed to the side
and hidden from view. Ashamed by their anomalies, these men have released heteronormative,
patriarchal media to create a conformist society and to label any outsider as strange or other. Although
media about the marginalized exists, they are few and far in between, leaving them to appropriate
other forms of expression. In Manuel Puig s Kiss of Spider Woman, Molina, an effeminate gay man,
recounts the storyline of Jacques Tourner s film, Cat People, through a queer perspective. By
identifying with a nonhuman figure and distorting a heteronormative plotline, Molina recognizes the
animality, or otherness, within himself due to his nonconforming nature. In Molina s narration of
Tourner s film, he often shows admiration towards Irena, a cat person. When introducing her to
Valentín, he expresses that she is not a woman like all the others, indicating her otherness yet
romanticizing her at the same time (Puig 3). She is unlike other women not only because she s non
human but also the heroine (25). This idolization is, furthermore, seen when he bids his cellmate
goodnight. Sweet dreams of Irena, he says, elevating her into an ethereal figure (9). Therefore, Molina
s reverence leads him to place himself in Irena s shoes. Like Irena, he is fond of Oliver because he s
the gentle type, and understanding (17); yet, he loathes the psychiatrist because so does [she],
revealing that his feelings towards the characters are dependent on hers (20). In other instances,
Molina seems to know what Irena is thinking and feeling although the film does not delve into her
mind. He explains how, when seeing Oliver, she [had] such a strong desire to kiss him, on the mouth
(21). Yet, in the film, the viewer is unable to truly know her desires unless they are explicitly said. So,
Molina has assumed her character mentally and emotionally.
However, Molina s identification with Irena is evident in the encounter with the other foreign woman.
In his narration, he explains this scene almost precisely as it is in the film. The only difference is that
Molina can provides a translation for the woman s line. According to

Introduction
Kidnapping means the forcible and unlawful abduction and conveying away of a man, woman, or
child, from his or her will or consent, and sending such person away, with an intent to deprive him or
her of some right. This is an offence at common law.
Kidnapping is of two kinds kidnapping from India and kidnapping from lawful guardianship.
Whoever conveys any person beyond the limits of India without the consent of that person, or of some
person legally authorized to consent on behalf of that person, is said to kidnap that person from India.
Kidnapping from lawful guardianship. Whoever takes or entices any minor

The Business Rivalry Of The Cinema Industry
Industry dynamics and changes in the society have threatened the existence of cinema. Theatre was
among the ideal places that people visited during leisure time. During those times, investors in the
theatre sector made profitable returns out of their investments. The cinema sector was protected
because a movie was first premiered in a theatre before people could watch it in electronic media
platforms in their houses. However, recent changes in the society have made it possible for individuals
to access even new movies without visiting theatre halls. Therefore, the focus of this paper is to carry
out an industry analysis and find out how the economics of liberalization and changes in technology
have made the cinema industry to experience challenges in sustaining this unrivalled competition from
home viewing platforms such as DVD and online content providers. Industry Analysis The issues that
face the cinema industry are related to macro environmental factors in the market. Therefore, in this
analysis, the PEST tool of market evaluation will be essential in unravelling the business rivalry that
the theatre industry is facing. Under PEST tool of assessment, the P stands for environmental factors
that affect competition in a certain industry. Political stakeholders are significant in enacting laws that
could regulate competition in the industry. In the movie theatre industry, there is the theatrical window
concern. The theatrical window is that period that a movie takes

Economic Strength Is Effective More than Guns
Economic Strength is Effective More Than Guns (FOR)
We must work our destiny in our own way and present to the world an economic system based on true
Islamic concept of equality of manhood and social justice. We will thereby be fulfilling our mission as
Muslims and giving to humanity the message of peace which alone can save it and secure the welfare,
happiness and prosperity of mankind.
These are the words of our beloved leader, the founder of Pakistan, the Quaid i Azam M. Ali Jinnah on
the occasion of inauguration of the state bank of Pakistan, giving the message of peace and welfare.
My arguments are in favor of economic strength. The first question that would strike people s minds is
why economic strength or why guns. Let s go back and ponder on the beginning.
Since the inception of mankind, man has been striving hard for his survival. Life gives challenges and
the supreme creature of God counters them. The journey from living in caves to residing in sky high
buildings has been a journey of gaining strength. This strength has always been gained in two
dimensions, the wealth and the might. Some people and nations went to strengthen their military
might and ruled the world, others focused on economy to keep their flag high. Time does not remain
the same. In past when world was not so advanced, use of force or the use of guns was the way
forward. Brutality and bloodshed earned the strength. Without military might, nations collapsed. But
now the dawn of twenty first

Voter Turnout In America
The nature of voter turnout is a broad concept in modern American politics and can be broken into
many topics: how voter turnout varies by state, by election, by demographics, and whether or not voter
turnout actually matters. Despite public opinion that voter participation is declining and that such
participation matters, voter turnout is about the same as it was in the 1960s and has not undergone
serious changes, and turnout only actually matters in competitive or local elections, rarely national
elections. The first determinant of variation in voter turnout is election differences between states;
specifically, voting accessibility, early voting, how competitive the race is, and gerrymandering of
districts in the state. Voting accessibility

How Has Nursing Changed Essay
Nursing today is at the heart of healthcare provision in the United Kingdom, and nurses are the largest
group of clinical employees in the NHS (The Royal Marsden, 2011). This essay will illustrate a
discussion on how nursing has changed in the past twenty or so years with regards to how the public
health needs have changed and in particular, at how the role of the nurse has adapted to ensure that
high quality care is provided. Fluctuating demographics and an upsurge in life expectancy has had
increased demand on the NHS services, which in turn has resulted in variations in the roles of
healthcare professionals. In particular this, and a change in education, has led to new and more
complex roles for nurses who are now taking on more responsibility ... Show more content on

When the Labour government came into power in 1997 they initiated many policies which in result

Nurse education was a comparative new arrival to higher education. Until the early 1990s the larger
part of student nurses embarked on a hospital based apprentice style course of nursing education
(Willis Commission Report, 2012). Project 2000 seen that nurse education was transformed and the

more emphasis should be placed on the development of competency in clinical skills within pre

Parkinson s Disease Essay
Parkinson s Disease like pathologies are found in different organisms. However, the pathology do not
necessarily result in Parkinson s like symptoms. In horses, dysfunction of the pituitary pars intermedia
due to the loss of dopaminergic neurons within the hypothalamus is a characteristic of Cushing s
disease (Spelta, 2015). Currently, it is hypothesized that with age, oxidation within the hypothalamus
causes the loss of dopaminergic neurons. In equine Cushing s disease, proopiomelanocortin peptides
(POMC), such as acetylcholine (ACTH), α melanocyte stimulation hormone (α MSH), and ß
endorphin, are mass produced due to the lack of dopamine inhibiting melanotrope cells of the pars

In Chinese Crusted dogs, mutation to the PARK2 gene can lead to a condition called Canine multiple
system degeneration (O Brien, 2005). Affected dogs develop cerebellar ataxia, which later develops
into akinesia and the inability to maintain postural stability. As the disease progresses, it has been seen
that the substantia nigra degenerates, which is similar to Parkinson s Disease (Montgomery, 1983).
Eventually, the dogs are euthanized by age 2. For studies involving Parkinson s Disease, mice and non
human primates are primarily used as models. 1 methyl 4 phenyl 1,2,3,6 tetrahydropyridine (MPTP)
has been previously shown to selectively target and breakdown nigrostriatal dopaminergic neurons
and cause Parkinson s like symptoms in primates within a few days (McCrodden, 1990). With that, the
progression of the MPTP induced Parkinson s disease is a sped up model of the actual disease. MPTP
is a lipophilic compound that is able to cross the blood brain barrier and convert into its fully oxidized
metabolite, 1 methyl 4 phenylpyridinium ion (MPP+) (Monte, 2014). In this state, MPP+ has a higher
affinity to bind dopamine transporters and be taken up by neurons. Beyond this, the mechanism for
toxicity is unknown. However, it is hypothesized that MPP+ s ability to bind neuromelanin causes for
the neuromelanin to act as a toxic reservoir. Nonetheless, it has been shown that neuromelanin
concentration is decreased in those inflicted by Parkinson s Disease

Media And Its Impact On Society
As the world becomes a global village due to technology our society changes with it. We become
more and more civilized that our way of life must change to match the changes in our world. One of
the most common changes that have hit our today s society is media. Media has penetrated through all

and continues to move away from the mainstream media (CBS, NBC, Fox News, CNN, ABC, etc.) to
local media and different websites to get their news. The trust society had in Television and the
mainstream media to provide true and uncontaminated reports has faded and therefore society is
moving away from these to where they believe they can get news first hand. In this paper, I will
attempt to explain why in today s media many people don t just rely on the major networks but go
online for news (Local, National, and Global). Could this be splintering our views and causing more
anger? Should it be regulated? I will also attempt to express my opinion on what the business of news

Over the years Newspapers, journals, magazines and Television had been the main source of source of

Muhammad Ali Is NOT a Hero Essay
Muhammad Ali Is NOT a Hero
To be a hero, someone could save others, respect their country, and care. The firefighters from the Fire
Department of New York have all of these characteristics, even thought they aren t perfect. Everyday,
they risk their lives to save others. They show their patriotism even on the trucks they drive through
the cities. Most of all they don t just do it because it s their job; they do it because they care. Unlike
the people at FDNY, Muhammad Ali is violent, separatist, and rude.
The first reason Muhammad Ali isn t a hero is because he is violent. For almost all of his life he
fought in boxing matches that all started when he was a boy because he wanted to beat up the kid who
stole his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second reason Muhammad Ali isn t a hero is he was a separatist who did not respect his country.
He became part of the Nation of Islam. They believed Blacks should break off from other Americans.
Also, in April 1967, Ali refused induction into the U.S. Army, claiming exempt status as a Muslim
minister (Abeles). When asked why he dodged the draft, Ali replied, I ain t got no quarrel with them
Viet Cong, no Viet Cong ever called me n (Biography.com). Because his separatist beliefs and actions,
Muhammad Ali did not show respect for his country.
The third reason Muhammad Ali isn t a hero is because he is rude. He would always taunt his
opponents. Before one of his matches, he taunted Liston calling him the bear and verbally defused the
famous stare as being just plain ugly (Myers 46). When Ali fought George Foreman in Zaire, he had
the Africans chant Ali bumbaye which means Ali kill him (When). Some sportswriters were against
Ali for this reason. Only a rude man like Muhammad Ali would do and say these things.
Because of his violence, rudeness, and separatist beliefs, Muhammad Ali in no way compares to the
men at the Fire Department of New York. While they have saved lives, Muhammad Ali has just beaten
people up. Spiderman is another example of a hero; he saved lives, respected his country, and cared
for the people he was saving. FDNY is just as good as Spiderman,

Using Online Reading Comprehension Skills
To find whether a source is credible they must develop online reading comprehension skills; these
skills are crucial because other researchers have found that children go online to clarify what they are
being taught in school. When kids are curious about something or have a question, it s always more
difficult for the teacher to get to everyone right away in class so they naturally become proactive and
find it out for themselves (Tsikalas). Kids researching and looking up information throughout the day
can make huge impacts on their learning and also improve cognition. It might be better to say that
today s children, more than ninety percent of whom will have an online history by age two, are
developing key tech friendly skills at an earlier age. By engaging kids brains in more complex tasks at
a young stage in their lives, toddlers are improving cognition, developing critical review skills, and
displaying a more advanced comprehension of both virtual and real worlds. Along with stronger
memory, better comprehension, and abstract thought, children who regularly use the internet also
show a more proactive approach to gathering information and feel an improved performance in
reading comprehension. Language fluency and vocabulary get a boost as well, and some kids even
experience a jump in IQ as high as six points. Beyond mental performance, kids and teens using the
Internet and social media demonstrate stronger social skills, better vocabularies, and greater
confidence. They

How The Method Of Growing Food Organically Or Non...
The purpose of this study was to study how the method of growing food organically or non
organically affected the mold growth between the two. Also, looking at whether or not organic food or
non organic food is healthier for you. Throughout a one week period, data was collected each day by a
ranking system on a scale of 1 to 5. The rank gave a number for how much mold grew after one day. 1
meaning no mold and 5 meaning more than 10 spots of mold. The three foods involved in this study
were cheese, strawberries, and bananas. There were an organic and non organic food for each food
item. The food was placed in a dark and warm cabinet. It is claimed that non organic food will grow
mold faster based on the number of mold spots grown because mold likes to grow in the dark better.
Other studies explained there is not a significant difference nutritionally between organic and non
organic foods.
Introduction
How does the method of growing organic food affect the growth of mold and nutritional value versus
non organic foods? This question is significant because many people buy organic food because they
think it is healthier. Also, since non organic foods usually have more preservatives in them to make
them last longer, the assumption is that non organic foods will mold faster. Molds are fungi that grow
best in warm, dark, damp, and humid conditions. Mold spreads and reproduces by making spores that
can survive harsh conditions (CDC, 2014). If a food is to be grown organically,

Modern Day Heroism In Greek Mythology
Heroism in Greek mythology has slowly amended over the centuries and this leads to our modern day
heroism. Many heroes in Greek mythology have shown to have unique abilities, but this writing isn t
about that. These heroes have many similar characteristics as our modern day heroes. I want to inform
to whoever reads this, about the differences between our modern heroes with the heroes of Greek
mythology. Each perspective is different from one another,so I may not be wrong or right. To help
show the examples of each amended heroism. I will identify a hero with that heroism to explain how
that heroism changes to our modern hero and heroism. I know it s a bit confusing, but I know you ll
manage to keep up. Jason in Greek mythology is the leader of the Argonauts and he is sent to go get
the Golden Fleece. During his travel he has shown acts of bravery, selflessness, and has done an
impossible task. Jason does many deeds to reach the Golden Fleece and that s what makes him a hero.
Our modern day hero to this is Doc Hendley, this man made a fundraiser called Wine To Water. In

Human Rights In American Prisons Essay
Introduction
Significance of Prisons The significance of human rights in prisons is an important to the criminal

authors inform Americans about how prison guards moods affect the moral of the prison because the
positive attitude helps everyone. The authors also states prisons zero to fifty have the best quality of
life behind bars. Johnsen, et al elaborate on the relationships in prison, Officers in small prisons also
report more positive relationships with senior management.. . Having these positive relationships
helps out the guards because they will not have to stress over their managers. Having the guards less
stress can help them not lash out on the inmates. If the guards do not lash out then then they will have
a better relationship with the inmates. Finally, American prisons have such high stress levels to a point
where inmates are receiving stress related illnesses. America placed number fifty four in the top
stressed countries in the world. While Norway placed number seventy four in the most stressed

Analyze The Underlying Causes Of World War 1
thesis:The underlying causes of World War I, were alliances, these created rivalries between European
countries, militarism that caused countries to spend large amounts on armaments, nationalism in

Nationalism played an important role in World War I, because some countries felt superior their
enemies. Colonel Dimitrevic, the head of the Serbian military and the founder of the Black Hand

When you are ready to make your financial investments, you will need to study your finances to figure
out how much to invest which can be done by using a simplified Income Statement.
Your income statement will list all of your incomes, debts, and taxes so that you can properly assess
how much money you have for future investments (Brigham, 2007). It is critical to account for all of
your debts to get a legitimate view of your finances. For instance, do not forget to account for food,
gas, cell phone bill, entertainment, and other non fixed monthly bills. In order to create an investment
plan that you will stick to, you must include reasonable living expenses. If you do not include items
such as entertainment, then long term acceptance of your investment plan will be dubious at best.
Once you have a reasonable income statement created, you will need to figure out your Debt to
Income ratio. This is very easy to create with the information you have included in your income
statement: add your monthly income and payments and then divide your monthly income by your
monthly payments, if your ratio is above fifty percent, than you should work towards lowering your
debt with a goal of less than 25 percent (Brigham, 2007). The lower your debt ratio, the higher your
credit score will be which will allow you to be approved for loans with better interest rates. Knowing
the true interest rate on a loan is

Identity In Hamlet
In the plays that we have covered throughout the semester, Shakespeare continuously adds layers of
complexity to the events, dialogue, and characteristics of the main characters. In doing so,
Shakespeare is able to create a presentation of reality as a more subjective interpretation rather than an
objective truth. Additionally, this complexity is extremely prevalent in the characterization of the main
characters, in which he intimates the multiplicity of human nature. Although the genres range from the
history plays of Richard II and Henry V to the revenge tragedy of Hamlet, there are numerous themes
that arise within all of these works that aid in the understanding of human nature and identity. Overall,
the idea of identity is explored as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Yet, only when the Ghost of Hamlet told him to revenge his foul and most unnatural murder, did

portray this intense mourning for his father s death and becomes consumed with revenge to the point
of questioning the reality of these feelings. In Act 2.2, Hamlet begins a rant about the actors abilities
to, in a fiction, in a dream of passion, portray intense feelings that were not real but quickly reverts to
questioning the reality of his own feelings. This is representative of temporality associated with

How Did The Light Bulb Affect Society

The first reason for this is because after the invention of the light bulb helped people sell the
incandescent light bulbs and earn money from it ( Incandescent Light Bulb. ). During that time, the
incandescent light bulb was very expensive to buy since it was a very new invention and idea to many
people. But later on, they adjusted the prices so that people in the middle class could buy it as well.
This helped the economy since more work could be done because people who worked in factories
produced more goods, therefore, there was more to sell ( Lighting A Revolution: 19th Century

money on electricity to power their homes. The electric light bulb also brought new ways of leisure
such as film projections. The incandescent light bulb also lead to other inventions such as the
microwave oven, televisions, microscopes and cameras and those are only a few of the inventions that
came out of the incandescent light bulb ( Light Bulb History Invention of the Light Bulb. ). In the end,
the incandescent light bulb caused a huge economical boom from when it was created since it was at a

The Endangered Species Act (ESA)
Extinction is nothing new to animal and plant species around the earth. Over the course of time on the
earth there have been five mass extinctions, with many predicting that a sixth has already begun due to
human fault. The Endangered Species Act (ESA) was designed to save both animal and plant life from
these great feat. The ESA has seen only a 2% recovery rate since it enactment (Why is U.S. Recovery
Rate (2%) for Endangered Species So Low?). Many critics and politicians have been calling for a
reformation of the act for years. The ESA is in need of a change in the following areas funding
distribution, time it takes to list a species on the endangered species list, and habitats on private land.
The conservation of animals has been going ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The recovery rate of those species has been 2% (Why is U.S. Recovery Rate (2%) for Endangered
Species So Low?) with 58 species being delisted (Corn Alexander, 2014, p.6). Of the 58 species that
have been delisted 30 species were delisted due to recovery of the species, 10 species due extinction, 7
species due to taxonomic revisions, and 11 species due to legislative changes. 41% of the species that
have been listed have improved in some way or form during their listing. (Corn Alexander, 2014, p.6)
Over 950 conservations plan have been made, more than 520 critical habitats have been selected, and
the amount of conservation plans that have been put into effect has gone over 1,138. (Primo, 2014,
p.4) As of 2011 the amount of money being spent on protecting endangered species totaled $1.39
billion. $1.34 billion was spent by the federal government and $57.8 million by states. The species
that have the highest expenditures are the Pacific Salmon () at $352.5 million, pallid sturgeon () at
$53.8 million, and bull trout () at $37.7 million. Expenditures include land acquisition, streamside
cleanup, and artificial nest creation. (Corn Alexander, 2014,

Nurturing Collaborative Culture
Nurturing a Culture of Collaboration through Effective Leadership
As shifts in education move towards authentic design based learning tasks that engage students
academically and intellectually, it is increasingly difficult for teachers to teach in isolation. The job of
a teacher has become increasingly complex (Fullan, 2008; Kohm Nance, 2009; Pugach, Johnson,
Drame Williamson, 2012; Thousand, Villa, Nevin, 2006). As a new administrator, it is the author s
responsibility to provide opportunities for optimal teaching and learning for students and staff. Fullan
(2008) states an administrator s greatest contribution to student learning, albeit indirectly, is the
collaborative cultures they create. Lu, Jiang, Yu Li (2015) posit administrators should nurture a
collaborative environment for teachers above all else. The unrelated efforts of even the most amazing
teachers will not be enough to meet the challenge of meeting the needs of all students (Pugach, et al.,
2012). Fullan Quinn emphatically state, Only the purposely collaborative will survive! (2016, p. 74).
Collaborative cultures promote professional growth of all staff, evolve over time, and require
administration to anticipate possible opportunities to foster a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The intent is to examine how a school community can collectively work towards common goals and
the essential leadership features required for nurturing a collaborative culture. To answer this question,
the author used three of the seven Professional Practice Competencies for School Leaders in Alberta
(PPCSLA) as a lens to guide the reflection on the benefits and challenges of nurturing professional
collaboration (Alberta Education, 2009). The author compares and contrasts the benefits and
limitations of collaboration against its theoretical framework that emerged from a review of the

Community Reflection Essay
While home for Thanksgiving break I went to Sunday mass with my family. We have been members
of Salem Lutheran Church since before my dad was born. When after entering the church, my family
and I sat in our usual pews. The pastor gave a passionate sermon focusing on motherhood and
childbirth. After service, everyone gathered in the gymnasium for coffee and snacks. I first spoke with
Wayne, a soft spoken Caucasian man in his late 60 s who was mildly brain disabled. Wayne dressed in
baggy pants and a Hawaiian shirt that barely covered his belly, and wore an old school camera around
his neck. Then I talked with Jackie, Collin, and Zach; all young Caucasian students who are all part of
an art program at Whitworth University. All three were dressed in nice formal dress. After that I spoke
with Jake Jacobsen, our church president, in the line for snacks. She wore slim straight slacks and a
plaid shirt that was tucked in. She spoke will clear and distinct articulation.
It did not occur to me until going to church with the tools and mindset of an anthologist the numerous
types of different people I interact with at Salem, most of whom I would never likely encounter
anywhere else in my daily life. Salem Lutheran s congregation is a mix of the homeless, disabled,
elderly, gay, and the bottom and top of the American economic spectrum. While recording my
observations I realized just how differently I act and think when dealing with each different person at
Salem. For my observation,

Everyday Use By Alice Walker Analysis
There is something oddly familiar and comforting in the short story Everyday Use by Alice Walker.
Perhaps it is the sweet drawl of southern charm that holds readers attention or maybe it is the way
Walker redefines an insecure character, and transforms them into a character whose inner persona
mirrors that of their own outer strength; nothing reads truer than the character of Mama. Mama
describes herself as a bigger woman, who wears overalls, has calloused hands, and is not afraid to get
them dirty. Mama is hardy and unwavering, she is the very essence of a hard worker. Mama takes
pride in the fact that she can work just as hard as any man and still managed to raise two daughters.
Mama even brags about her masculine strengths and accomplishments when she disclosed, I can work
outside all day, breaking ice to get water for washing; I can eat pork liver cooked over the open fire
minutes after it comes steaming from the hog. One winter I knocked a bull calf straight in the brain
between the eyes with a sledge hammer and had the meat hung up to chill before nightfall (Walker).
Mama has the physical attributes even a man would be envious of. However, despite all Mamas
physical strengths she has never had the courage to hold her own; not even with her daughter. From
the very beginning Mama showed her insecurities and passive tone as she tried relentlessly to sweep
away debris from the yard in an effort to please her oldest daughter Dee. Mamma even fantasize

Jacob August Riis Research Paper
A cramped, smoky room filled with people working. A mother holding her child and gathering rags.
The sick sleeping on the ground. What do these images have in common? They are all examples of
photographs taken by a turn of the 19th century photographer named Jacob August Riis. Riis was not
only a photographer, but also a reporter, a writer and a reformer. He used his skills to spur reforms and
spur the minds of the public and the government throughout his life. Riis had his beginnings in the
humble town of Ribe, Denmark (Jacob). He was born in May of 1849 to his father, Niels Riis, a
schoolteacher, and his mother, Carolina Riis. From his father, he began to learn English at a young
age. He grew up reading books written by great writers such

  • 3. The Life and Work of David Sedaris David Sedaris has been compared to some of the greatest names in American Literature, including Mark Twain, Dorothy Parker and James Thurber (Moredock). Not surprisingly, all of the aforementioned authors captivated audiences with their sarcasm, wit, and humor three characteristics that are indicative of Sedaris s writing in general. Sedaris has made a career as an author and recording artist (having broadcast and recorded his works of literature numerous times) who finds insight and points of laughter in the ordinary nuances of life. Most of his articles are autobiographical in nature, or at least involve him as one of the principle characters in them. His 2004 book, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, is quite typical in this respect. An analysis of a pair of articles in this manuscript, Us and Them and The Girl Next Door , illustrates the author s propensity for detailing some of the more humorous aspects of non traditional American families. Sedaris was born in 1956, and spent part of his formative years living in upstate New York. His family would soon move down south to North Carolina in the early 1960 s, exposing the fledgling author to some semblance of city life. By his own accounts, his tenure in New York was spent in an exceedingly rural location, which contrasted sharply with his surroundings in North Carolina. The unconventional wit and humor (Burroughs) that the author displays in his writings more than likely descended, in part, from his unusual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Time and Motion Study * Model for the construction industry using pre determined times Jasper Van Gilsa, Leo Vaningelgema Abstract This paper is based on our work experience with Office line. This company prepares standard times for companies in the industrial sector. Standard time is productive time that is required and achieved by an employee. Standard time contains everything that is necessary for the work specified to be completed. The reason why Office line only prepare standard times for the industrial sector rather than the construction industry is due to the repetitive nature of the work. One example is the car industry which uses assembly lines. In the construction sector, this kind of repetition is not so evident. There is repetitiveness in some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This includes that we have to make a more than one measurement to become a reliable average for these tasks. A second importance that we need to take notice of using chrono, is the performance level at which the employee is working. An execution time of a specific person can not be used as a reference for or employees and as a consequency we can t set these specific times as standards. Tools that can help us by adding a tempo to our measurements are tempo scales. These scales will make sure that execution times will be calibrated and that we become standard times. Standard times can be executed by any valid employee in a social acceptable space of time. Bedaux scale This tempo scale was designed by the Frenchman Bedaux. He saw that not all employees were working at the same performance level. So he had the idea to add a value from 0 to 100 to the performance levels where 100 stands for the maximum pace which can only be performed for a short period and zero for doing nothing at all. A score of 60 is the level every valid employee should be able to perform for a complete week, 8 hours per day. For his scale, Bedaux compared the working tempo with walking (60) and running (100) that we know starts from a speed of 7,5 km/h. Walking at the speed of 4,5 km/h matches the score of 60 Bedaux points. Berenschot scale * For some people the Bedaux scale was a bit ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although I was scared to get on all the big rides I still managed to get on. I would stay calm in all of the lines, but whenever I saw I was about to get on the ride I would get the biggest knots in my stomach. On Tower of Terror, I was very close to crying, but I got through it. A very scary ride is Space Mountain. It was like I wanted to start balling out crying, but it was just tears falling out of my eyes. I also hated big drops at the time. The rides with big drops like Splash Mountain, Tower of Terror, and Space Mountain made me lose my stomach. My favorite roller coaster is Rockin Roller Coaster. Rockin Roller Coaster is a fast loopy loop ride, but it s very smooth and easy going. I do not like jerky rides like the primeval whirl that jerks you every which way. There are also 4 parks to go to in Disney. There is Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios. My favorite park is the Magic Kingdom because there is more to do there, but I like the other ones too. I also love the food at Disney World. They have the best fries ever. Their ice cream is also amazing. There is this ice cream called Pine Apple Dole Whip and it is the best you ll ever taste. • 7. Comparing Orwell And Didion As A Writer By which I mean not a good writer or a bad writer but simply a writer, a person whose most absorbed and passionate hours are spent arranging words on pieces of paper. Had my credential been in order I would never have become a writer. Had I been blessed with even limited access to my own mind there would have been no reason to write. I write entirely to find out what I m thinking, what I m looking at what I see and what it means. I know several people who would fit this description, they write to figure out what they want to say. I on the other hand, have to know want picture I want to paint for the reader before I begin to write. Last semester, I had the opportunity to do some creative writing for the first time; the writing would flow smoothly when I had a clear idea of what I want to convey or become stunted when I lost sight of what I meant to express. • 14. Nonconformism In Manuel Puigan s Kiss Of Spider Woman In a society governed by straight, cis gender men, the nonconformists have been pushed to the side and hidden from view. Ashamed by their anomalies, these men have released heteronormative, patriarchal media to create a conformist society and to label any outsider as strange or other. Although media about the marginalized exists, they are few and far in between, leaving them to appropriate other forms of expression. In Manuel Puig s Kiss of Spider Woman, Molina, an effeminate gay man, recounts the storyline of Jacques Tourner s film, Cat People, through a queer perspective. By identifying with a nonhuman figure and distorting a heteronormative plotline, Molina recognizes the animality, or otherness, within himself due to his nonconforming nature. In Molina s narration of Tourner s film, he often shows admiration towards Irena, a cat person. When introducing her to Valentín, he expresses that she is not a woman like all the others, indicating her otherness yet romanticizing her at the same time (Puig 3). She is unlike other women not only because she s non human but also the heroine (25). This idolization is, furthermore, seen when he bids his cellmate goodnight. Sweet dreams of Irena, he says, elevating her into an ethereal figure (9). Therefore, Molina s reverence leads him to place himself in Irena s shoes. Like Irena, he is fond of Oliver because he s the gentle type, and understanding (17); yet, he loathes the psychiatrist because so does [she], revealing that his feelings towards the characters are dependent on hers (20). In other instances, Molina seems to know what Irena is thinking and feeling although the film does not delve into her mind. He explains how, when seeing Oliver, she [had] such a strong desire to kiss him, on the mouth (21). Yet, in the film, the viewer is unable to truly know her desires unless they are explicitly said. So, Molina has assumed her character mentally and emotionally. However, Molina s identification with Irena is evident in the encounter with the other foreign woman. In his narration, he explains this scene almost precisely as it is in the film. The only difference is that Molina can provides a translation for the woman s line. According to ... For studies involving Parkinson s Disease, mice and non human primates are primarily used as models. 1 methyl 4 phenyl 1,2,3,6 tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) has been previously shown to selectively target and breakdown nigrostriatal dopaminergic neurons and cause Parkinson s like symptoms in primates within a few days (McCrodden, 1990). They show their patriotism even on the trucks they drive through the cities. Most of all they don t just do it because it s their job; they do it because they care. Unlike the people at FDNY, Muhammad Ali is violent, separatist, and rude. The first reason Muhammad Ali isn t a hero is because he is violent. When asked why he dodged the draft, Ali replied, I ain t got no quarrel with them Viet Cong, no Viet Cong ever called me n (Biography.com). Because his separatist beliefs and actions, Muhammad Ali did not show respect for his country. The third reason Muhammad Ali isn t a hero is because he is rude. He would always taunt his opponents. Before one of his matches, he taunted Liston calling him the bear and verbally defused the famous stare as being just plain ugly (Myers 46). When Ali fought George Foreman in Zaire, he had the Africans chant Ali bumbaye which means Ali kill him (When). Some sportswriters were against Ali for this reason. Only a rude man like Muhammad Ali would do and say these things. Because of his violence, rudeness, and separatist beliefs, Muhammad Ali in no way compares to the men at the Fire Department of New York. Using Online Reading Comprehension Skills To find whether a source is credible they must develop online reading comprehension skills; these skills are crucial because other researchers have found that children go online to clarify what they are being taught in school. When kids are curious about something or have a question, it s always more difficult for the teacher to get to everyone right away in class so they naturally become proactive and find it out for themselves (Tsikalas). Kids researching and looking up information throughout the day can make huge impacts on their learning and also improve cognition. It might be better to say that today s children, more than ninety percent of whom will have an online history by age two, are developing key tech friendly skills at an earlier age. By engaging kids brains in more complex tasks at a young stage in their lives, toddlers are improving cognition, developing critical review skills, and displaying a more advanced comprehension of both virtual and real worlds. Along with stronger memory, better comprehension, and abstract thought, children who regularly use the internet also show a more proactive approach to gathering information and feel an improved performance in reading comprehension. • 26. How The Method Of Growing Food Organically Or Non... The purpose of this study was to study how the method of growing food organically or non organically affected the mold growth between the two. Also, looking at whether or not organic food or non organic food is healthier for you. Throughout a one week period, data was collected each day by a ranking system on a scale of 1 to 5. The rank gave a number for how much mold grew after one day. 1 meaning no mold and 5 meaning more than 10 spots of mold. The three foods involved in this study were cheese, strawberries, and bananas. There were an organic and non organic food for each food item. The food was placed in a dark and warm cabinet. It is claimed that non organic food will grow mold faster based on the number of mold spots grown because mold likes to grow in the dark better. Other studies explained there is not a significant difference nutritionally between organic and non organic foods. Introduction How does the method of growing organic food affect the growth of mold and nutritional value versus non organic foods? This question is significant because many people buy organic food because they think it is healthier. Also, since non organic foods usually have more preservatives in them to make them last longer, the assumption is that non organic foods will mold faster. Molds are fungi that grow best in warm, dark, damp, and humid conditions. Mold spreads and reproduces by making spores that can survive harsh conditions (CDC, 2014). (Corn Alexander, 2014, p.6) Over 950 conservations plan have been made, more than 520 critical habitats have been selected, and the amount of conservation plans that have been put into effect has gone over 1,138. • 44. Nurturing Collaborative Culture Nurturing a Culture of Collaboration through Effective Leadership As shifts in education move towards authentic design based learning tasks that engage students academically and intellectually, it is increasingly difficult for teachers to teach in isolation. The job of a teacher has become increasingly complex (Fullan, 2008; Kohm Nance, 2009; Pugach, Johnson, Drame Williamson, 2012; Thousand, Villa, Nevin, 2006). As a new administrator, it is the author s responsibility to provide opportunities for optimal teaching and learning for students and staff. Fullan (2008) states an administrator s greatest contribution to student learning, albeit indirectly, is the collaborative cultures they create. Lu, Jiang, Yu Li (2015) posit administrators should nurture a collaborative environment for teachers above all else. The unrelated efforts of even the most amazing teachers will not be enough to meet the challenge of meeting the needs of all students (Pugach, et al., 2012). Fullan Quinn emphatically state, Only the purposely collaborative will survive! (2016, p. 74). Collaborative cultures promote professional growth of all staff, evolve over time, and require administration to anticipate possible opportunities to foster a ... The intent is to examine how a school community can collectively work towards common goals and the essential leadership features required for nurturing a collaborative culture. To answer this question, the author used three of the seven Professional Practice Competencies for School Leaders in Alberta (PPCSLA) as a lens to guide the reflection on the benefits and challenges of nurturing professional collaboration (Alberta Education, 2009). The author compares and contrasts the benefits and limitations of collaboration against its theoretical framework that emerged from a review of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Community Reflection Essay While home for Thanksgiving break I went to Sunday mass with my family. We have been members of Salem Lutheran Church since before my dad was born. When after entering the church, my family and I sat in our usual pews. The pastor gave a passionate sermon focusing on motherhood and childbirth. After service, everyone gathered in the gymnasium for coffee and snacks. I first spoke with Wayne, a soft spoken Caucasian man in his late 60 s who was mildly brain disabled. Wayne dressed in baggy pants and a Hawaiian shirt that barely covered his belly, and wore an old school camera around his neck. Then I talked with Jackie, Collin, and Zach; all young Caucasian students who are all part of an art program at Whitworth University. All three were dressed in nice formal dress. After that I spoke with Jake Jacobsen, our church president, in the line for snacks. She wore slim straight slacks and a plaid shirt that was tucked in. She spoke will clear and distinct articulation. It did not occur to me until going to church with the tools and mindset of an anthologist the numerous types of different people I interact with at Salem, most of whom I would never likely encounter anywhere else in my daily life. Salem Lutheran s congregation is a mix of the homeless, disabled, elderly, gay, and the bottom and top of the American economic spectrum. While recording my observations I realized just how differently I act and think when dealing with each different person at Salem. For my observation, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Everyday Use By Alice Walker Analysis There is something oddly familiar and comforting in the short story Everyday Use by Alice Walker. Perhaps it is the sweet drawl of southern charm that holds readers attention or maybe it is the way Walker redefines an insecure character, and transforms them into a character whose inner persona mirrors that of their own outer strength; nothing reads truer than the character of Mama. Mama describes herself as a bigger woman, who wears overalls, has calloused hands, and is not afraid to get them dirty. Mama is hardy and unwavering, she is the very essence of a hard worker. Mama takes pride in the fact that she can work just as hard as any man and still managed to raise two daughters. Mama even brags about her masculine strengths and accomplishments when she disclosed, I can work outside all day, breaking ice to get water for washing; I can eat pork liver cooked over the open fire minutes after it comes steaming from the hog. One winter I knocked a bull calf straight in the brain between the eyes with a sledge hammer and had the meat hung up to chill before nightfall (Walker). Mama has the physical attributes even a man would be envious of. However, despite all Mamas physical strengths she has never had the courage to hold her own; not even with her daughter. From the very beginning Mama showed her insecurities and passive tone as she tried relentlessly to sweep away debris from the yard in an effort to please her oldest daughter Dee. Mamma even fantasize ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
