France Bans the Muslim Burqa and Veil Essays
Within the Middle East, the largest population of the men and women are Muslim. The Muslim
religion suggests that women wear a veil or hijab, which is a head scarf that only exposes a woman s
eyes, accompanied by a burqa which is a full body cloak. The sole purpose of the clothing is to cover a
woman s feminine features from men s eyes. The Qur an, an Islamic scripture, supports and slightly
obligates the uniform by saying that women are to be conservative, let them wear their head covering
over their bosoms, and not display their ornaments. (Qur an). It could be inferred that women wear the
burqa and veil willingly because of their geographical location. However, when Muslim women are
withdrawn from the Middle East, and are placed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
France drew international attention, questions, and opinions on the justification of this new law. Even
though France s main response to their justification of the ban is to preserve the French culture, the
law also positively addresses other problems such as: religious freedom, public safety, and women s
rights. When I was introduced to the topic of France s ban on the veil, I disagreed with the law. I took
a position based on my customs as an American citizen, which differs completely from those of
France. International critics began to argue that France is violating what people call Freedom of
Religion, which I agreed with at first. As a foreigner from America, I am accustomed to the American
government s definition of freedom of religion. Protected by the First Amendment, Congress shall
make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise. (Religious
Freedom). You can express your religion in public, during church, mass, or religious meetings. So the
presence of religious items such as the burqa s and veil do not disturb the people or government.
However, until I put myself in the other person s (France s) shoes, I hadn t realized that customs differ
from one country to another, so I began to look at the accusations through France s eyes. I too, then
viewed the ban as a positive movement by France, influenced by a government s determination to
govern their citizens under laws, which they found suitable. Although they

Ebola In The Hot Zone
Introduction
In the medical thriller, The Hot Zone, Preston states that flawed decisions in outbreak situations are a
threat to human survival. Ebola is known by many to be lethal and in recent years, has caused an
interest within the public. Many in the United States have shown fear towards the threat of Ebola in
the country, which has caused many to also research the effects of Ebola on the human body.
Moreover, Ebola poses a threat to the safety of medical professionals; doctors must be able to safely
help patients without high risk of exposure to the hot virus. Of equal importance, medical
professionals involved with the treatment of hot viruses must be trained properly in order to
effectively make decisions and protect all patients and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Preston (1995) argues, [a] hot virus from the rainforest lives within a twenty four hour plane flight
from every city on earth (p. 16). In addition, only one host is needed to spread the hot virus into a
massive outbreak in any part of the world, and such an outbreak could plunge the global population
into oblivion. To further explain, Preston (1995) draws the conclusion that the airline routes that tie
earth s cities together are a web, and once a hot virus enters the web, it can be delivered to far corners
of the earth in one day (p. 16). Simple and flawed decisions by humans can make this frightening idea

European Union Pros And Cons
Discuss the benefits of the European Union (EU) for its member states. Does the recent financial and
debt crisis provide arguments against regional economic integration?
The European Union
The European union is an integrated system featuring some if not most of the countries in Europe. It is
an economic and political agreement between the European member states that binds countries
together through treaties, which have been signed by every country in the union. It was established
back in the 1950s but, back then it only featured 19 countries in comparison to now when it features
28.
For the countries featured in The European Union, there are several benefits the country and its
citizens incur. These include, free mobility between member states as you can work, study and travel
wherever you please within the European union. Also, as per occupytheory.org, over 3.5 million jobs
have been created for the 320 million European citizens just over the last few years. However, not all
their policies are effective as we saw with the common agricultural policy that led to the increase in
price and oversupply of goods. Although this is a negative, the European union still manages to
maintain integration through the development of deprived regions. This is done by the other member
states helping to improve countries which aren t as developed as them, this is done through the
European Structural Fund .
Following on from this the EU has a large variety of benefits towards it member

Virtue Ethics In Health Care
Introduction
Virtue ethics is one of the major approaches in normative ethics. virtue ethics emphasizes being rather
than doing. Our being, in other words, who we truly are, influences our behavior (Arries, 2005).
Central to virtue ethics is the concept of integrity. Some manifestations of integrity include honesty,
truthfulness and truth telling, benevolence, wisdom, and moral courage (Butts Rich, 2016). Integrity
means being truthful to one s obligations; it focuses on health practitioners as people and their
commitment to their patients (Hursthouse Pettigrove, 2016). In the following paper I will discuss the
ethical issues and application of virtue ethics to the concept patient safety as it relates to a case where

The goal is to improve the patient s quality of life and a dignified end of life. This calls for nurses that
have high moral and professional skills; and are able to develop relationships and make complex
decisions. Building a relationship with the patient and caregivers is essential in hospice care and the
nurse s integrity and honesty are valued highly (Erichsen, Danielsson, Friedrichsen, 2010). In the
clinical setting of hospice integrity is displayed by speaking up on behalf of the patient when a patient
s wellbeing and quality of care is threatened either by caregivers or other healthcare professionals.
There are many other ways that honesty is displayed in a hospice setting such as communicating with
patients and families about diagnosis, test results, prognosis, and different options available for
treatment and care. Honesty is also displayed when we stay committed to our promises to patients and
follow through with appropriate behaviors, such as being on time for visits and providing patients with
all the resources, medications, and equipment that were promised upon admission (McSteen Peden
McAlpine, 2006). Integrity is also practiced in hospice by maintaining patient confidentiality;
communicating with physicians who have ordered questionable treatments; reporting to administrators
hazardous or questionable practices; advocating for the patients and

Whole Foods
1. (a) Whole Foods operates in the organic, or natural and specialty foods retail industry. Leading the
industry, Whole Foods Market is the world s most successful natural foods grocery chain. Having
recently acquired one of its main competitors, Wild Oats Market, Whole Foods currently competes
with two other large grocery chains—Kroger and Trader Joe s. The company also acquired Amrion, a
company specializing in nutraceuticals (natural supplements with pharmaceutical type benefits),
creating considerable competition with General Nutrition Centers (GNC) nutritional supplements and
dietary products. Additional competition is taking place in traditional grocery stores incorporating
some organic products on to their shelves.

Intensity of Rivalry Among Competitors Within the foods retail industry Whole Foods largest
competitors are Wal Mart, and Kroger. Within the organic foods retail industry, the competition is
Trader Joe s and smaller localized organic grocery stores. Whole Foods also competes with GNC s
dietary products and nutritional supplements. Most of the relationships are not equally balanced but
industry growth in the organic market is increasing and this will raise the strategic stakes. There are no
significant exit barriers so a moderately intense rivalry among the larger competitors will exist. While
the foods retail industry is highly competitive, Whole Foods has established a reputation and
maintains a brand loyalty with its customers. Increased rivalry will occur in the larger grocery chains
like Wal Mart and Kroger, because of their flexibility in the products they can offer, and the pressures
they can put on the sales growth and overall profits of Whole Foods. They have a larger cash and
customer base, and the ability to better advertise their products, while Whole Foods still generates

The Impact Of Climate Change On Wind Energy Resources Of...
This study was designed to assess the impacts of climate change on wind energy resources of the
United Kingdom as simulated by a regional climate model. It was a continuation of the previous work
by Tobin et al. (2016) in which they investigated impacts of climate change on wind power generation
at the European scale. Here, a more detailed impacts assessment for the UK was conducted which was
specific to two most relevant scenarios of climate change and covered the twenty first century. Several
studies which were focused on wind power assessment used an ensemble of RCM projections (for
example Tobin et al., 2016; Nolan et al., 2012; Tobin et al., 2014; Pryor et al., 2005). A different
approach was followed here, which was intended to segregate an RCM projection, based on its
performance to simulate past wind climate and variability. An available set of high resolution EURO
CORDEX simulation data was analysed for the purpose.
A detailed analysis was carried out pertaining to two main objectives as mentioned below.
a. To evaluate if near surface wind speed, simulated by Rossby Centre regional atmospheric model,
(RCA4) at high resolution (11km) using five different boundary conditions from GCMs during
historical period (1980 2005) illustrate reliable climate features as recorded by MERRA reanalysis

Chipotle s First Food Safety Problem Essay
Despite the many benefits of Chipotle s managing style, it was still unable to escape major issues
concerning their food products. For a while it seemed that Chipotle had discovered a full proof
concept; they could create delicious and healthy food without negative repercussions. The company s
stock was doing amazing in the market and investors were ecstatic. However, at some point in time,
all companies face some sort of crisis and Chipotle is not an exception. It is how Chipotle manages the
crisis which determines if it will recover. In September 2015 Chipotle began to face a crisis that could
have bankrupt the company and undo all the progress it had made. The company would face numerous
public and regulatory backlash for food safety issues associated with its stores. Chipotle s first food
safety problem occurred on September 11, 2015. The issue involved a salmonella outbreak associated
with Chipotle restaurants in Minnesota. There were 45 cases that were determined to be caused from
tomatoes served by the restaurants in the area. However, the cases were not that massive and the
media did not blow the situation out of control. Therefore, Chipotle tried to handle the cases as an
isolated issue and not let it become a public relations problem. However, Chipotle s worst nightmare
became a reality just a month later when a worst health related issued occurred at some of its
restaurants. The company has always tried to pride itself on providing a safe environment

Child Labor Policy Essay
Introduction Since the beginning of time, child labor has been a very complex issue in the United
States. Child labor refers to work that impedes children s access to education and is harmful to their
physical, mental, moral, developmental, and social well being (Schmitz, Traver, Larson, Pieris, 2004,
p. 1). Exploitation from cruel to harmful is considered and reported as child labor. A child is a person
under eighteen years of age, according to the Rights of the Child convention of 1989 (Schmitz et al.,
2004). As the history of child labor evolved throughout the years, policies and rules have been created
to protect children from abuse. The manifestation varies widely in impact depending on the conditions
of history, social, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to meet labor shortage in 1619, American masters recruited poor British children to work
along with American children. The children were badly treated and well worn. By the time young girls
were eight years of age, they were employed to work in the textile factories as well as cloth
manufactures. Spinning schools were created for poor children to develop an education. By the 1700
s, colonists believed that the labor that children were providing was good for them (Greene, 1002).
According to Greene (1992), the governor of New York stated, every home swarms with children who
are set to spin and card (p. 19). As technology advanced, many manufactures became wealthy but the
competition made others worry and tried to slow down the growth of other manufactures. The
divergence of the industrialization caused the American Revolution (Greene, 1992). Due to the lack of
knowledge of what was going on in the rest of the world, American accepted child labor. Although the
children were treated a lot better compared to other countries, and young girls were not out loading
and dragging coal and working in mines. Child labor was thought of as helping keep parents out of
public charity, kept down production cost, and made the nation competitive. Citizens of America also
thought that children would benefit morally by giving them temperament, dependability, and thrift.
During this time, bible reading was extremely

Inequalities In Home And Home Research Paper
Inequalities has a wide range of meanings and it is unique to each person, based on age, gender and
socialisation. Regarding the home and housing, inequalities focus on social disparity of distribution or
opportunity that one has. This essay will focus on comparisons and differences on inequalities in the
home and housing. How and why there are these differences on those who can buy a home, why many
have no choice but to rent and why there are homeless people and those who must squat. Inequalities
are also based at home, as gender differences in roles such as women doing laundry instead of men
can be classed as an inequality.
There are several inequalities within the home, one of which is gender. Gender is significant to the
variations of time due to the subordinate economy and social positions resulted from persistent social
divisions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Women still do twice as much housework than their partners. Technology has developed, this allows
women to have a dual role in the home by working and the unpaid work in the home. However, there
is the underlying question is how does this produce inequality?
Is it that women do the housework because it s what they are supposed to do or is it their nature. This
view is universal across most cultures and some may argue that genetics is the main factor of why
there is inequalities within the home. However, ideology is a focal point behind all explanations of
gender inequality. People s understanding of gender inequalities comes from an innate perception of
what men and women are supposed to do within the home. Feminist sociologist argue that housework
remains invisible and unpaid (Silvia 2010; treas and Drobnic

The Brown Wasps Essay
The Brown Wasps
In Loren Eiseley s Essay The Brown Wasps, Eiseley shows that humans and animals act in similar
ways. He says that humans and animals cling to the things they know very strongly. Sometimes they
even act as if nothing even changed. Humans and animals tend to want to return to things that they are
familiar to as they grow older. Loren Eiseley shows how humans and animals try to cling or recreate
an important or favorite place. This essay is about memory, home, places in time. Loren Eiseley does a
great job describing the place that he is talking about to make the reader visualize and make them feel
like they are there. Some examples are the old men, the brown wasps, the mice, the pigeons, the ...

Eiseley compares this to the brown wasp that wishes to die in the center of the hive. The men came
inside the train station to be around other people so that they did not die alone. Sometimes it is the
place that matters the most, the center of the hive for the brown wasp and the bench in the train station
for the old man. We cling to a time and place because without them man is lost, not only man but life.
(79).
Later Eiseley tells of a mouse that made a home in one of the flower pots in his living room. This was
no ordinary house mouse, this was a field mouse; the one that he had seen in the field of the site of the
new suburban store. It ran away from the field where the bulldozers were and headed towards Eiseley
s apartment building. The mouse made a burrow in the flower pot and was quick to hide and not be
seen. He tried to dig the burrow deeper but failed. Eiseley then refilled the burrow with the dirt and
did not expect to see the mouse again. To his surprise the burrow reopened but there was no sign of
the field mouse. Not even the temptation of food would draw the mouse out. He thought it would end
up in some trap or someone else s apartment.

Gun Laws And Stricter Gun Control
Gun laws is a controversial topic on both sides of the legislative. We have some that argue the right to
bear arms set in the Constitution of the United States and then we have the epidemic of gun violence
amongst innocent people that are advocating for stricter gun laws and even the banning on assault
weapons. There are many points that can be argued from each side of the leglasitive with evidence to
back the claims that they are stating with regards to gun laws. The right to bear arms is considered to
be a pillar of the constitution and some people feel that it is a right that should not be infringed upon.
The right to bear arms, a right that won us freedom and also has protected us for years. But, as the
nation evolves it is evident that our second amendment could probably stand to evolve with it. When I
think of gun laws I often tend to take the middle of the road approach to who should own a gun and
what should happen if you possess a gun illegally. Former President Barack Obama made the plea for
stricter gun control. His thought was that there need to be a broader background check as well as
exhortation to federal agencies so that existing laws are fully enforced. But how does what President
Obama was trying to inforce take a stance when in Texas, gun owners were taking full advantage of
the new right of open carry. I think that the open carry law needed to be investigated a little bit more
before being put in place. But, the good thing I guess that came out

Fermentation Of Yeast Lab Report
The objective of this study is to show the process of fermentation of yeast and the cellular respiration
rate that is found in the mitochondria. The first part of the experiment tested fermentation of yeast
through the production of CO2 under certain circumstances. Four different food sources were used:
glucose, sucrose, starch, and H2O. The temperature varied from 37oC to 4oC and measured on a 5
minute interval. We predicted that the glucose on the highest temperature would produce the most
CO2 bubbles. In the alcohol fermentation process glucose is initially used, we predicted that the
increase in glucose would produce the most CO2. The second part of the experiment, cellular
respiration was measured from mitochondria found in isolated lima beans. This was done to examine
the citric acid cycle that takes place in the mitochondria. Within the citric acid cycle, succinate must
be converted to fumarate. The experiment tested the reaction rate of the succinate with the varying
mixtures that contained DPIP, a buffer, succinate and the mitochondrial suspension. These mixtures
were placed inside the spectrometer where transmittance was measured. We predicted that solution 3
would have the lowest rate of reaction. This is because solution 3 contained the most succinate as well
as an considerable amount of the mitochondrial suspension in the same solution. ... Show more

because these symptoms did not always occur during the late luteal phase in the menstrual cycle

The Main Causes Of The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution was implementation of new manufacturing processes during the time period
of the 18th and 19th century. Prior to the industrial revolution manufacturing was done at people s
homes in rural locations. After the industrial revolution began jobs were moved from rural homes into
city factories which resulted in a change in the volume and the variety of goods being produced, but
also the people s standard of living to change.
Before the start of the Industrial Revolution goods were typically made, processed and sold locally or
in limited quantities. Goods were often produced in rural homes and farms. One of the main causes for
this to occur was due to transportation. Transportation was one of the biggest impediments for
economic growth in Europe and especially for colonists in America. It was worse in America since it
was newly discovered land there was no infrastructure to start making new roads. Europe had roads,
but many were not suitable for long and quick passages to trade goods over long distances. There were
a few forms of transportation. People typically traveled by horse or mule. When traveling with a horse
or mule some people used a Conestoga Wago to transport cargo. However, due to the road conditions
it was hard to travel by these means. An alternative was to send goods down river by loading them
onto canoes to send down waterways. During the 18th century Britain and France began tackling the

Racial Profiling And The United States
Racial profiling remains a dormant issue in the United States. It is the act of the authority, mostly,
police officers linking minority status to criminal behaviour (Glover, 2007). Several police officers in
the United States target specific groups because they don t display characteristics of typical Caucasian
individuals (Glover, 2007). To put history into context, before 9/11, not many police officers profiled
individuals based on their ethnic backgrounds but after the attack, there was an increase in racial
profiling (Harris, 2006). A racial profiling method that became prevalent in the 1980s in the United
States was administered by the U.S Drug Enforcement Administration. Operation Pipeline was a
program that they launched to help police officers catch drug traffickers (Harris, 2006). In a video,
they taught police officers to look for clues that would help them recognize criminals. It was noticed
that police officers made a majority of stops to people with Hispanic last names (Harris, 2006).
Marshall Frank, a former police officer was asked what police officers should do if they saw an
African man driving around a white community. Frank responded by stating that the police officers
should stop the vehicle and investigate the reason to why he was there even if there was no occurrence
of a crime (Harris, 2006). Looking at modern society in the United States, there have been several
legislations that have been passed preventing police agencies to create racial profiles

Personal Response Research Paper
My Personal Response
Microeconomics covers many interesting topics but I was able to find five that truly reflected on
things that I go through in my daily life. My first topic was supply and demand which are the two
words that economists use most often. These are also two words that I use often when demanding
items and also supplying them for customers. Another topic that I discussed was the opportunity cost.
There are so many things that can be done in one day but it s always a cost to do one thing over the
other. Following that I expressed the struggle of wanting a normal good but only having the funds for
an inferior good. Normal goods are great when you can afford them but they re not always in your

This is called Opportunity cost. An opportunity cost is the cost of something you give up to get it
something else. There is an opportunity cost for every trade off that you do in life. I have a couple
different opportunity cost that I have been through but one of my most important and current
opportunity cost is being a full time student at Prairie View A M University instead of working a full
time job to make money and be able to pay all of my bills. At this point I am working, however it is
not a full time job therefore, I am not receiving the same amount of money that I would be receiving if
I was able to work at a full time job in the customer service field that I am qualified for. Being a full
time student is a job in its self and I have to put it first over going to work to make money that will
help pay my bills as this will benefit me in the long run. After I complete college and obtain a degree
in accounting, I will be able work in a large firm working in a higher level of customer service rather
than if I were to jump straight into my field and not have the credentials. I am happy that I m able to
make this opportunity work out to where I can still work and attend school even though it is hard and I
am not receiving my desired pay rate. Overall, being education and acquiring knowledge of many

Examples Of Diction In Frankenstein
In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, the narrator, Dr. Frankenstein, enhances an atmosphere of horror
through diction and imagery, which creates escalating a tone of darkness. Frankenstein had been
working on this experiment for months, and on a late, fall night it finally presents itself. The narrator
is extremely anxious, and images of a lack of light, his candle... nearly burnt out, promotes a tone of
fear and disquietness. Frankenstein means to contrast the living and the dead by reviving a lifeless
thing, but ends up locating the peak of dread. The tone of dread is suggested by the narrator s
intentional diction. As soon as the creature gains life, Frankenstein quickly realizes that what he made
is not a masterpiece at all. He hoped his creation would be divine, but he soon realized it was a
catastrophe. The tone instantly shifts from steady unease to dynamic revulsion. Lost for words, the
doctor can t figure out where he went wrong. He put copious amounts of effort into making this
project beautiful, yet somehow it turned into a wretch. In an attempt to make it lively, he gave it
lustrous black hair and teeth of pearly whiteness, but it didn t help. The creature s eyes had an uncanny
resemblance to the dun white sockets in which they lie. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He longs for sleep, but his disturbance will not allow it. Elizabeth, Frankenstein s love, morphs into an
image of the doctor s dead mother. The image of grave worms crawling, and other thoughts of the
deceased, make the horror tangible to both the reader and Dr. Frankenstein. The fear is strengthened
when the monster reappears, and Frankenstein is drawn to the creature s eyes. The doctor is haunted
by his creation once again, and the thought that the creature was intending on confining him in the hell
which he created. The diction used by Dr. Frankenstein enhanced the imagery and created an
atmosphere of horror and adding to the increasing tone of

Relationship Between Ethical And Abusive Coaching...
The study The Relationship Between Ethical and Abusive Coaching Behaviors and Student Athlete
Well Being was conducted by Mariya A. Yukhymenko Lescroart, Michael E. Brown, and Thomas S.
Paskus, and was published in the journal Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology. The
researchers sought to understand the effects that a coach s behavior had on a student s morals,
satisfaction, and impressions of team unity. Social cognitive theory has long thought that we learn by
imitating those around us, particularly those in leadership positions. The coaches of sports teams are
especially prominent models in a student athlete s life, given that they have actual authority over the
student s life. The idea of self efficacy, which suggests that an ... Show more content on

Coaches were first asked if their teams would participate, and if the coach approved, the students were
given surveys to fill out with the assurance that it was voluntary and confidential. Coaches were asked
not to be present as the students filled out the surveys, which consisted of nineteen Likert scale
questions. 40.8% of the students were female, and the entire sample was primarily white, although
15.4% were black and 12.5% were other.
This study had five main variables. First, the inclusion climate, or how unified the students felt their
team was. This was measured by three questions on a 1 to 6 scale. Next was willingness to cheat, or
the perceived readiness of fellow teammates to be dishonest, which was measured by a 1 to 5 scale
question. Also measured was the college choice satisfaction, or how content the students felt about
their choice of college. This was measured by three questions on a 1 to 7 scale. Next was ethical
leadership, or whether the student felt that the coach was running the team with positive morals. It was
measured by six questions on a 1 to 5 scale. Last was abusive coaching behavior, or how the students
felt about their coach s amount of abuse or lack thereof. This was assessed with three questions on a 1
to 5 scale. The perceived ethical climate of the school (measured via three 1 to 5 scale items), as well
as the gender of the team, how much media attention the team

Blindness In O Connor s Good Country People
The theme of blindness is found in O Connor s Good Country People as well, and it also serves the
purpose of enlightening the world to the possibility of a second chance. This story actually
demonstrates two grotesque characters who are in need of grace. However, one of these characters,
Manley Pointer, is a false prophet, and until the end of the story, appears to be the deliverer of grace to
the home of Hulga and her mother, Mrs. Hopewell. It is unclear what Manley Pointer s warping event
is, but he evokes disgust throughout the story, thus, making him a grotesque character. Hulga is
another grotesque character in the story, and the events that warped her were the hunting accident that
left her with only one good leg and her tendency to reject the concept of a God. ... Show more content

However, Hulga misreads Hiedegger s words and uses them to fit her own beliefs, and in actuality,
Heidegger critiques the modern scientific mindset for its narrowness in only taking an interest in
beings and not in being itself (Hubbard 53). Similar to Hazel Motes in Wise Blood, Hulga has a
nihilistic view. She believes that science has replaced the traditional beliefs, especially those of God,
which no longer have any worth. The flaw in Hulga s thinking is that she embraces a pervasive and
coercive (rather than individual or isolated) way of seeing in postwar American culture with which
Heidegger and O Connor find fault (Hubbard 53). Her blindness is demonstrated through her belief in
the scientific objectivity of the contemporary era. O Connor critiques this mode of technological
thinking that is dangerous and destructive, which becomes increasingly apparent in Hulga (Hubbard

It is more towards the environment in which teacher only teaches stuff and students have to memorize
it in order to get good scores. In my opinion teacher and students should have a relationship which is
more collaborative in nature. Furthermore, teaching students on small groups will be more beneficial
for the students because it will be more rewarding for the students in terms of learning.
Groups will increase the interaction between students and teachers. Formation of groups will also help
the students in developing problem solving skills, decision making skills and it will also enhance the
communication skills. Groups are of a great use for teachers, because teaching to groups is easier, it
keep the students motivated and increase their attendance too. Alongside, it will also increase the
participation at the end of students. Hence, learning environment can be seen. Studying and teaching
in groups will also act as simulation of the professional careers, because it will provide the students
with the environment in which they have to accomplish certain task in groups (anonymous, n.d.).
In terms of best practices of leadership, literature describes that leader is the one who lead others to
get the job done (Goleman, 2000).Leader plays pivotal role in success of any group and organization.

The Birthplace of American Patriotism
By now, the British had defeated Napoleon and could engage their entire military on the war across
the sea. The plan to force President Madison to surrender was a three part invasion. One force would
attack the north, coming in through Lake Champlain, sailing down the Hudson River and advancing
into New York. The second force would strike the Chesapeake area and capture Washington and
Baltimore. The third would advance into New Orleans through the Gulf of Mexico and take control of
the Mississippi River. Though the attack on the Chesapeake was planned as a distraction to the other
two parts of the plan, the militias in Maryland fell so easily to the British that they kept advancing in
that area. First, the British marched into the capital, Washington D.C., trampled the American soldiers
attempting to halt them, and set fire to all of the important buildings, including the President s
Mansion, the Capital, and US Treasury. The tragedy fogged the Americans sight of victory but did not
dampen the soldiers spirits and will to defeat the military super power. Next, the British moved on to
Baltimore, a busy trading port and a source of well built warships. General George Armistead
commanded Fort McHenry, Baltimore s blockade to incoming attackers. Armistead rallied the
residents of the city to build fortifications and join the ranks in the fort. He ordered a giant flag to be
sewn to show the British that Baltimore was ready to fight. As dawn arrived, so did the British. Led by

  • 2. France Bans the Muslim Burqa and Veil Essays Within the Middle East, the largest population of the men and women are Muslim. The Muslim religion suggests that women wear a veil or hijab, which is a head scarf that only exposes a woman s eyes, accompanied by a burqa which is a full body cloak. The sole purpose of the clothing is to cover a woman s feminine features from men s eyes. The Qur an, an Islamic scripture, supports and slightly obligates the uniform by saying that women are to be conservative, let them wear their head covering over their bosoms, and not display their ornaments. (Qur an). It could be inferred that women wear the burqa and veil willingly because of their geographical location. However, when Muslim women are withdrawn from the Middle East, and are placed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... France drew international attention, questions, and opinions on the justification of this new law. Even though France s main response to their justification of the ban is to preserve the French culture, the law also positively addresses other problems such as: religious freedom, public safety, and women s rights. When I was introduced to the topic of France s ban on the veil, I disagreed with the law. I took a position based on my customs as an American citizen, which differs completely from those of France. International critics began to argue that France is violating what people call Freedom of Religion, which I agreed with at first. As a foreigner from America, I am accustomed to the American government s definition of freedom of religion. Protected by the First Amendment, Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise. (Religious Freedom). You can express your religion in public, during church, mass, or religious meetings. So the presence of religious items such as the burqa s and veil do not disturb the people or government. However, until I put myself in the other person s (France s) shoes, I hadn t realized that customs differ from one country to another, so I began to look at the accusations through France s eyes. I too, then viewed the ban as a positive movement by France, influenced by a government s determination to govern their citizens under laws, which they found suitable. Although they ... • 3. Ebola In The Hot Zone Introduction In the medical thriller, The Hot Zone, Preston states that flawed decisions in outbreak situations are a threat to human survival. Ebola is known by many to be lethal and in recent years, has caused an interest within the public. Many in the United States have shown fear towards the threat of Ebola in the country, which has caused many to also research the effects of Ebola on the human body. Moreover, Ebola poses a threat to the safety of medical professionals; doctors must be able to safely help patients without high risk of exposure to the hot virus. Of equal importance, medical professionals involved with the treatment of hot viruses must be trained properly in order to effectively make decisions and protect all patients and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Preston (1995) argues, [a] hot virus from the rainforest lives within a twenty four hour plane flight from every city on earth (p. 16). In addition, only one host is needed to spread the hot virus into a massive outbreak in any part of the world, and such an outbreak could plunge the global population into oblivion. To further explain, Preston (1995) draws the conclusion that the airline routes that tie earth s cities together are a web, and once a hot virus enters the web, it can be delivered to far corners of the earth in one day (p. 16). • 4. European Union Pros And Cons Discuss the benefits of the European Union (EU) for its member states. Does the recent financial and debt crisis provide arguments against regional economic integration? The European Union The European union is an integrated system featuring some if not most of the countries in Europe. It is an economic and political agreement between the European member states that binds countries together through treaties, which have been signed by every country in the union. It was established back in the 1950s but, back then it only featured 19 countries in comparison to now when it features 28. For the countries featured in The European Union, there are several benefits the country and its citizens incur. These include, free mobility between member states as you can work, study and travel wherever you please within the European union. Also, as per occupytheory.org, over 3.5 million jobs have been created for the 320 million European citizens just over the last few years. However, not all their policies are effective as we saw with the common agricultural policy that led to the increase in price and oversupply of goods. Although this is a negative, the European union still manages to maintain integration through the development of deprived regions. This is done by the other member states helping to improve countries which aren t as developed as them, this is done through the European Structural Fund . Following on from this the EU has a large variety of benefits towards it member ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Virtue Ethics In Health Care Introduction Virtue ethics is one of the major approaches in normative ethics. virtue ethics emphasizes being rather than doing. Our being, in other words, who we truly are, influences our behavior (Arries, 2005). Central to virtue ethics is the concept of integrity. Some manifestations of integrity include honesty, truthfulness and truth telling, benevolence, wisdom, and moral courage (Butts Rich, 2016). Integrity means being truthful to one s obligations; it focuses on health practitioners as people and their commitment to their patients (Hursthouse Pettigrove, 2016). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The goal is to improve the patient s quality of life and a dignified end of life. This calls for nurses that have high moral and professional skills; and are able to develop relationships and make complex decisions. Building a relationship with the patient and caregivers is essential in hospice care and the nurse s integrity and honesty are valued highly (Erichsen, Danielsson, Friedrichsen, 2010). In the clinical setting of hospice integrity is displayed by speaking up on behalf of the patient when a patient s wellbeing and quality of care is threatened either by caregivers or other healthcare professionals. There are many other ways that honesty is displayed in a hospice setting such as communicating with patients and families about diagnosis, test results, prognosis, and different options available for treatment and care. Honesty is also displayed when we stay committed to our promises to patients and follow through with appropriate behaviors, such as being on time for visits and providing patients with all the resources, medications, and equipment that were promised upon admission (McSteen Peden McAlpine, 2006). Integrity is also practiced in hospice by maintaining patient confidentiality; communicating with physicians who have ordered questionable treatments; reporting to administrators hazardous or questionable practices; advocating for the patients and ... Leading the industry, Whole Foods Market is the world s most successful natural foods grocery chain. Having recently acquired one of its main competitors, Wild Oats Market, Whole Foods currently competes with two other large grocery chains—Kroger and Trader Joe s. The company also acquired Amrion, a company specializing in nutraceuticals (natural supplements with pharmaceutical type benefits), creating considerable competition with General Nutrition Centers (GNC) nutritional supplements and dietary products. Intensity of Rivalry Among Competitors Within the foods retail industry Whole Foods largest competitors are Wal Mart, and Kroger. Within the organic foods retail industry, the competition is Trader Joe s and smaller localized organic grocery stores. Whole Foods also competes with GNC s dietary products and nutritional supplements. Most of the relationships are not equally balanced but industry growth in the organic market is increasing and this will raise the strategic stakes. There are no significant exit barriers so a moderately intense rivalry among the larger competitors will exist. While the foods retail industry is highly competitive, Whole Foods has established a reputation and maintains a brand loyalty with its customers. Increased rivalry will occur in the larger grocery chains like Wal Mart and Kroger, because of their flexibility in the products they can offer, and the pressures they can put on the sales growth and overall profits of Whole Foods. They have a larger cash and customer base, and the ability to better advertise their products, while Whole Foods still generates most of their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Impact Of Climate Change On Wind Energy Resources Of... This study was designed to assess the impacts of climate change on wind energy resources of the United Kingdom as simulated by a regional climate model. It was a continuation of the previous work by Tobin et al. (2016) in which they investigated impacts of climate change on wind power generation at the European scale. Here, a more detailed impacts assessment for the UK was conducted which was specific to two most relevant scenarios of climate change and covered the twenty first century. Several studies which were focused on wind power assessment used an ensemble of RCM projections (for example Tobin et al., 2016; Nolan et al., 2012; Tobin et al., 2014; Pryor et al., 2005). A different approach was followed here, which was intended to segregate an RCM projection, based on its performance to simulate past wind climate and variability. An available set of high resolution EURO CORDEX simulation data was analysed for the purpose. A detailed analysis was carried out pertaining to two main objectives as mentioned below. a. To evaluate if near surface wind speed, simulated by Rossby Centre regional atmospheric model, (RCA4) at high resolution (11km) using five different boundary conditions from GCMs during historical period (1980 2005) illustrate reliable climate features as recorded by MERRA reanalysis data. • 8. Chipotle s First Food Safety Problem Essay Despite the many benefits of Chipotle s managing style, it was still unable to escape major issues concerning their food products. For a while it seemed that Chipotle had discovered a full proof concept; they could create delicious and healthy food without negative repercussions. The company s stock was doing amazing in the market and investors were ecstatic. However, at some point in time, all companies face some sort of crisis and Chipotle is not an exception. It is how Chipotle manages the crisis which determines if it will recover. In September 2015 Chipotle began to face a crisis that could have bankrupt the company and undo all the progress it had made. The company would face numerous public and regulatory backlash for food safety issues associated with its stores. Chipotle s first food safety problem occurred on September 11, 2015. The issue involved a salmonella outbreak associated with Chipotle restaurants in Minnesota. There were 45 cases that were determined to be caused from tomatoes served by the restaurants in the area. However, the cases were not that massive and the media did not blow the situation out of control. Therefore, Chipotle tried to handle the cases as an isolated issue and not let it become a public relations problem. However, Chipotle s worst nightmare became a reality just a month later when a worst health related issued occurred at some of its restaurants. • 9. Child Labor Policy Essay Introduction Since the beginning of time, child labor has been a very complex issue in the United States. Child labor refers to work that impedes children s access to education and is harmful to their physical, mental, moral, developmental, and social well being (Schmitz, Traver, Larson, Pieris, 2004, p. 1). Exploitation from cruel to harmful is considered and reported as child labor. A child is a person under eighteen years of age, according to the Rights of the Child convention of 1989 (Schmitz et al., 2004). As the history of child labor evolved throughout the years, policies and rules have been created to protect children from abuse. In order to meet labor shortage in 1619, American masters recruited poor British children to work along with American children. The children were badly treated and well worn. By the time young girls were eight years of age, they were employed to work in the textile factories as well as cloth manufactures. Spinning schools were created for poor children to develop an education. By the 1700 s, colonists believed that the labor that children were providing was good for them (Greene, 1002). According to Greene (1992), the governor of New York stated, every home swarms with children who are set to spin and card (p. 19). As technology advanced, many manufactures became wealthy but the competition made others worry and tried to slow down the growth of other manufactures. The divergence of the industrialization caused the American Revolution (Greene, 1992). Due to the lack of knowledge of what was going on in the rest of the world, American accepted child labor. Although the children were treated a lot better compared to other countries, and young girls were not out loading and dragging coal and working in mines. Child labor was thought of as helping keep parents out of public charity, kept down production cost, and made the nation competitive. Citizens of America also thought that children would benefit morally by giving them temperament, dependability, and thrift. During this time, bible reading was extremely ... Regarding the home and housing, inequalities focus on social disparity of distribution or opportunity that one has. This essay will focus on comparisons and differences on inequalities in the home and housing. How and why there are these differences on those who can buy a home, why many have no choice but to rent and why there are homeless people and those who must squat. Inequalities are also based at home, as gender differences in roles such as women doing laundry instead of men can be classed as an inequality. There are several inequalities within the home, one of which is gender. Women still do twice as much housework than their partners. Technology has developed, this allows women to have a dual role in the home by working and the unpaid work in the home. However, there is the underlying question is how does this produce inequality? Is it that women do the housework because it s what they are supposed to do or is it their nature. This view is universal across most cultures and some may argue that genetics is the main factor of why there is inequalities within the home. However, ideology is a focal point behind all explanations of gender inequality. People s understanding of gender inequalities comes from an innate perception of what men and women are supposed to do within the home. He says that humans and animals cling to the things they know very strongly. Sometimes they even act as if nothing even changed. Humans and animals tend to want to return to things that they are familiar to as they grow older. Loren Eiseley shows how humans and animals try to cling or recreate an important or favorite place. Sometimes it is the place that matters the most, the center of the hive for the brown wasp and the bench in the train station for the old man. We cling to a time and place because without them man is lost, not only man but life. (79). Later Eiseley tells of a mouse that made a home in one of the flower pots in his living room. This was no ordinary house mouse, this was a field mouse; the one that he had seen in the field of the site of the new suburban store. It ran away from the field where the bulldozers were and headed towards Eiseley s apartment building. The mouse made a burrow in the flower pot and was quick to hide and not be seen. He tried to dig the burrow deeper but failed. Eiseley then refilled the burrow with the dirt and did not expect to see the mouse again. To his surprise the burrow reopened but there was no sign of the field mouse. Not even the temptation of food would draw the mouse out. • 14. Gun Laws And Stricter Gun Control Gun laws is a controversial topic on both sides of the legislative. We have some that argue the right to bear arms set in the Constitution of the United States and then we have the epidemic of gun violence amongst innocent people that are advocating for stricter gun laws and even the banning on assault weapons. There are many points that can be argued from each side of the leglasitive with evidence to back the claims that they are stating with regards to gun laws. The right to bear arms is considered to be a pillar of the constitution and some people feel that it is a right that should not be infringed upon. The right to bear arms, a right that won us freedom and also has protected us for years. But, as the nation evolves it is evident that our second amendment could probably stand to evolve with it. When I think of gun laws I often tend to take the middle of the road approach to who should own a gun and what should happen if you possess a gun illegally. Former President Barack Obama made the plea for stricter gun control. His thought was that there need to be a broader background check as well as exhortation to federal agencies so that existing laws are fully enforced. But how does what President Obama was trying to inforce take a stance when in Texas, gun owners were taking full advantage of the new right of open carry. • 16. Fermentation Of Yeast Lab Report The objective of this study is to show the process of fermentation of yeast and the cellular respiration rate that is found in the mitochondria. The first part of the experiment tested fermentation of yeast through the production of CO2 under certain circumstances. Four different food sources were used: glucose, sucrose, starch, and H2O. The temperature varied from 37oC to 4oC and measured on a 5 minute interval. We predicted that the glucose on the highest temperature would produce the most CO2 bubbles. In the alcohol fermentation process glucose is initially used, we predicted that the increase in glucose would produce the most CO2. The second part of the experiment, cellular respiration was measured from mitochondria found in isolated lima beans. This was done to examine the citric acid cycle that takes place in the mitochondria. Within the citric acid cycle, succinate must be converted to fumarate. The experiment tested the reaction rate of the succinate with the varying mixtures that contained DPIP, a buffer, succinate and the mitochondrial suspension. These mixtures were placed inside the spectrometer where transmittance was measured. We predicted that solution 3 would have the lowest rate of reaction. This is because solution 3 contained the most succinate as well as an considerable amount of the mitochondrial suspension in the same solution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder was first mentioned in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual 4th edition (DSM IV) as a depressive disorder not otherwise specified. It was actually a renaming of a diagnosis that was originally in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual 3rd edition (DSM III). That diagnosis was the Late Luteal Phase Dysphoric Disorder (LLPDD), which had been found to be false because these symptoms did not always occur during the late luteal phase in the menstrual cycle (Severino, 2009). • 19. The Main Causes Of The Industrial Revolution The Industrial Revolution was implementation of new manufacturing processes during the time period of the 18th and 19th century. Prior to the industrial revolution manufacturing was done at people s homes in rural locations. After the industrial revolution began jobs were moved from rural homes into city factories which resulted in a change in the volume and the variety of goods being produced, but also the people s standard of living to change. Before the start of the Industrial Revolution goods were typically made, processed and sold locally or in limited quantities. Goods were often produced in rural homes and farms. One of the main causes for this to occur was due to transportation. Transportation was one of the biggest impediments for economic growth in Europe and especially for colonists in America. It was worse in America since it was newly discovered land there was no infrastructure to start making new roads. Europe had roads, but many were not suitable for long and quick passages to trade goods over long distances. There were a few forms of transportation. People typically traveled by horse or mule. When traveling with a horse or mule some people used a Conestoga Wago to transport cargo. However, due to the road conditions it was hard to travel by these means. An alternative was to send goods down river by loading them onto canoes to send down waterways. During the 18th century Britain and France began tackling the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Racial Profiling And The United States Racial profiling remains a dormant issue in the United States. It is the act of the authority, mostly, police officers linking minority status to criminal behaviour (Glover, 2007). Several police officers in the United States target specific groups because they don t display characteristics of typical Caucasian individuals (Glover, 2007). To put history into context, before 9/11, not many police officers profiled individuals based on their ethnic backgrounds but after the attack, there was an increase in racial profiling (Harris, 2006). A racial profiling method that became prevalent in the 1980s in the United States was administered by the U.S Drug Enforcement Administration. Operation Pipeline was a program that they launched to help police officers catch drug traffickers (Harris, 2006). In a video, they taught police officers to look for clues that would help them recognize criminals. It was noticed that police officers made a majority of stops to people with Hispanic last names (Harris, 2006). Marshall Frank, a former police officer was asked what police officers should do if they saw an African man driving around a white community. Frank responded by stating that the police officers should stop the vehicle and investigate the reason to why he was there even if there was no occurrence of a crime (Harris, 2006). Personal Response Research Paper My Personal Response Microeconomics covers many interesting topics but I was able to find five that truly reflected on things that I go through in my daily life. My first topic was supply and demand which are the two words that economists use most often. These are also two words that I use often when demanding items and also supplying them for customers. Another topic that I discussed was the opportunity cost. There are so many things that can be done in one day but it s always a cost to do one thing over the other. Following that I expressed the struggle of wanting a normal good but only having the funds for an inferior good. An opportunity cost is the cost of something you give up to get it something else. There is an opportunity cost for every trade off that you do in life. I have a couple different opportunity cost that I have been through but one of my most important and current opportunity cost is being a full time student at Prairie View A M University instead of working a full time job to make money and be able to pay all of my bills. At this point I am working, however it is not a full time job therefore, I am not receiving the same amount of money that I would be receiving if I was able to work at a full time job in the customer service field that I am qualified for. Being a full time student is a job in its self and I have to put it first over going to work to make money that will help pay my bills as this will benefit me in the long run. After I complete college and obtain a degree in accounting, I will be able work in a large firm working in a higher level of customer service rather than if I were to jump straight into my field and not have the credentials. I am happy that I m able to make this opportunity work out to where I can still work and attend school even though it is hard and I am not receiving my desired pay rate. Overall, being education and acquiring knowledge of many different subjects will make up for the cost that I am paying now by being in school and not working a full time job. Also, there is always the summer when I am not a full time student and I am able to work full time. Before knowing what an opportunity cost was, I did not understand that I was always paying a cost to do anything that I did even tasks as simple as sleeping. Examples Of Diction In Frankenstein In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, the narrator, Dr. Frankenstein, enhances an atmosphere of horror through diction and imagery, which creates escalating a tone of darkness. Frankenstein had been working on this experiment for months, and on a late, fall night it finally presents itself. The narrator is extremely anxious, and images of a lack of light, his candle... nearly burnt out, promotes a tone of fear and disquietness. Frankenstein means to contrast the living and the dead by reviving a lifeless thing, but ends up locating the peak of dread. The tone of dread is suggested by the narrator s intentional diction. As soon as the creature gains life, Frankenstein quickly realizes that what he made is not a masterpiece at all. He hoped his creation would be divine, but he soon realized it was a catastrophe. This story actually demonstrates two grotesque characters who are in need of grace. However, one of these characters, Manley Pointer, is a false prophet, and until the end of the story, appears to be the deliverer of grace to the home of Hulga and her mother, Mrs. Hopewell. It is unclear what Manley Pointer s warping event is, but he evokes disgust throughout the story, thus, making him a grotesque character. The flaw in Hulga s thinking is that she embraces a pervasive and coercive (rather than individual or isolated) way of seeing in postwar American culture with which Heidegger and O Connor find fault (Hubbard 53). The plan to force President Madison to surrender was a three part invasion. One force would attack the north, coming in through Lake Champlain, sailing down the Hudson River and advancing into New York. The second force would strike the Chesapeake area and capture Washington and Baltimore. The third would advance into New Orleans through the Gulf of Mexico and take control of the Mississippi River. Though the attack on the Chesapeake was planned as a distraction to the other two parts of the plan, the militias in Maryland fell so easily to the British that they kept advancing in that area. First, the British marched into the capital, Washington D.C., trampled the American soldiers attempting to halt them, and set fire to all of the important buildings, including the President s Mansion, the Capital, and US Treasury. The tragedy fogged the Americans sight of victory but did not dampen the soldiers spirits and will to defeat the military super power. Next, the British moved on to Baltimore, a busy trading port and a source of well built warships. General George Armistead commanded Fort McHenry, Baltimore s blockade to incoming attackers.
