Essay On Position Of Power
Power. The world has an absolute fascination with it, it seems that the only articles we see of late
are on someone in a position of power, from prostitution scandals to corruption allegations along
with the seemingly endless amounts of charges against corporate executives or world class
athletes, headlines these days are filled to the brim with the latest misstep of those in positions of
power. So where did it all go wrong? Through the many studies that psychologists have performed
in the past, Dacher Keltner from the University of California may have been the one which
stumbled across the goldmine, following a study where he performed a survey on freshmen at the
start of the semester, asking them to provide their first impressions of... Show more content on

Mr. Keltner having noticed these findings came up with the observation that holding a seat of
power is an incredibly consistent effect, When you give people power, they basically start acting
like fools. They flirt inappropriately, tease in a hostile fashion, and become totally impulsive.
nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man s character, give him power
quoted by Abraham Lincoln, a man of immense power. No truer statement on power has been
stated, power is an addictive idea, drug like, drawing us in, seeping into our brains, latching hold
and changing our decisions and morals. It can change people for the better or for the worse,
however at this point in time the latter is more common than the former. The only conclusion
we can make right now is that there is a cycle of power, you start at the bottom, a receptionist
maybe, intentions pure, you work hard and slowly find yourself moving up the ranks, with each
rank you move up, you find that there are more and more people in a lower position who must
answer to you and your mindset, your intentions, your characteristics ever so slowly change and
you become quick to anger, reckless and rude. The fact is, people become this way because it won
t threaten their position, had you been a receptionist, any behaviour like this would ve resulted in
being shown the door and a positive reference for your next job, if you re lucky. With the idea that

Staphylococcus Epidermidis Research Paper
Nowadays seen as an important opportunistic pathogen Staphylococcus epidermidis is one of thirty
three known species belonging to the genus Staphylococcus (5). It can be found within the mucous
membranes, as a part of the skin flora, and in animals. If S. epidermidis comes in contact with a
person who has a compromised immune system, it may cause infection merely to those inside of
hospital settings. It like to live on the surface, but once inside a host can cause serious problems.
There are many different strands of Staphylococcus, but this particular bacterium was first
differentiated from other forms of Staphylococcus in 1884 by Friedrich Julius Rosenbach (6). S.
flexneri causes dysentery that results in the destruction of the epithelial

Procedural Due Process Analysis
Under the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments, citizens are protected from national and state
governments denying them their life, liberty or property without due process of the law and have
a right to some form of trial or hearing. (Magleby, O Brien, Light, Peltason, Cronin, 2008., p. 470)
Though the Supreme Court has refused multiple times to define due process conclusively saying
instead that due process, is not a technical conception with a fixed content unrelated to time, place,
and circumstances, but due process relates to the rules and regulations that restrain how the
government exercises power. (Magleby, et al., 2008., p. 470) However, not everyone agrees what
those rules and regulations should be or how the government exercises its... Show more content on

Wade in 1973 and Planned Parenthood v. Casey in 1992, which reaffirmed the Roe v. Wade
decision. (Magleby, et al., 2008., p. 472) Even more volatile has been the debate surrounding
privacy in the years following the September 11th terrorist attacks. In light of the the passage of the
Patriot Act and revelations about the expansive domestic spying program the question of what

Linear Technology
Linear Technology
Linear Technology is a technology company that focuses on the different elements of
semiconductors. The company mostly focuses on analog products within the semiconductor portion
of the electronic industry. Linear Technology was unique in their payout policy in the sense that
they started with announcing dividends and then continued onto repurchasing. Linear started
dividends to gain the respect of investors as well as show that buying shares in the company of
Linear was less risky than all the other technology companies. Additionally, they repurchase stocks
to offset the employee stock options that the company had as a large component of the employee
compensation, which helped Linear in the years of low or slow ... Show more content on

Earnings and earnings per share are not affected by the dividend payout.
Another option Linear Technology has to exercise its excess cash balance, they can repurchase
shares to increase the value of the firm. This repurchase option is beneficial to the company and
shareholders because in an open market share repurchase has no effect on the stock price. In
addition, by repurchasing shares the firm s earnings and earnings per share will increase. As
shown in Exhibit B, by calculating the total numbers of shares repurchased (total cash balance
/price per share) and subtracting it from the number of shares outstanding will give us the number
of shares left outstanding after the repurchase to be 261,703,052. Exhibit B shows how this
decrease in the number of shares drove up the earnings per share value by $0.10 from $0.55 to
$0.65. When the company repurchases shares instead of paying out in special dividends, the firm s
value will increase and it also allows the firm to retain its cash reserves within the company.
In general, companies pay dividends for a number of reasons. Dividends provide certainty about
the company s financial well being. Many investors prefer the steady and secure income that
comes with dividends and see dividends as strength in the company and a sign of future positive
earnings. Dividend initiators tend to be large and stable firms with low growth rates

Unifying Japan Essay
The fall of the Japanese Shogun proceeded the end of the Warring States era and it begin the
whole new process of uniting Japan. During the process of unifying Japan, there were three main
rulers that each took a different access to not only Japan, but by reaching relations with the
Westerners. The three main rulers that were involved in this unifying was: Oda Nobunaga,
Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokygawa Ieyasu. Before the Isolationism period, the Japanese had
already welcomed the Westerners. The first people were from Portuguese in the 1543. Yet, the
Shogunate and Daimayo would keep a very close contact and business very controlled in Japan.
Oda Nobunaga was the first to approached unification with violence and aggression, but welcomed
the Westerners into Japan. One of Oda... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Toyotomi, that the Westerners were just a distraction and took the access of banning missionaries
one step further by out casting Christianity. The missionaries and priest would be either executed
or deported from Japan. Finally Japan closed the doors to the outside world and forbid Japanese
from leaving the country. They also prohibited Japanese that left the country and westerners from
returning to Japan. By closing the doors to the world Japan isolated itself and began to find a
different way to unify their own country without any of the Westerners influences.
The Daimayos had a generosity by having contact with the west to enhance Japan s trade. The
Japanese would buy silver and copper from the Dutch and sold silk to them. They were also able
to import much of the porcelain to Britain. The relationship that existed between the Japanese and
the Westerners would be more of a business related instead of religion related. They were peaceful
before the decree that led to the isolation of

Song Analysis Of The 1815 Battle Of New Orleans
The War of 1812 had occured from 1812 to 1815; and at this time tensions between the United
States and Britain were still high. Around fifteen thousand americans died during The War of 1812,
and around eight thousand six hundred British and Canadian troops had died in battle or from
disease. Andrew Jackson was an important general during The War of 1812, and had fought during
the 1815 Battle of New Orleans. In 1815, The War of 1812 had ended and the United Statesand the
British had signed a peace agreement to call the war a tie between the two nations. By examining
the song, The Battle of New Orleans , it is clear that Johnny Horton was greatly influenced by the

The 1815 Battle of New Orleans occured in January 1815, near the Mississippi River and the
Gulf of Mexico. This battle had involved the United States, the Canadians, and the British. Some
people involved were Andrew Jackson, Edward Pakenham, and John Lambert as some generals on
both the British and the United States side. The end of the battle had affected the British the most
as within thirty minutes of battle two thousand british troops were killed and only 13 United
States troops were killed. In the end of the battle the British had been forced back to the Gulf of
Mexico to have their final fight but were unsuccessful and had to draw back.
The Battle of New Orleans, was written by Johnny Horton, and he had wrote it in 1959. The
song had reflected how the British were chased down the Mississippi River with the lines, We
fired once more and they begin to runin on down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico. The song
speaks of Andrew Jackson being involved with the fight with the lines, Along with Colonel

Should Australia Have The Right To An Adequate Standard Of...
Article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights embodies the right to an adequate
standard of living. Although this doctrine was adopted in 1948, there is a significant amount of
work to be done worldwide. Moreover, the absence of a right to housing would compromise many
other basic rights including the right to family life and privacy, freedom of movement, assembly
and association, and the right to health.
The Commonwealth of Australia believes that everyone has the right to an adequate standard of
living, including adequate food, water, and housing. Australia acknowledges adequate housing as
an essential for human survival as supported in documents such as Australia s National Human
Rights Action Plan. Human rights provides us with a language and a framework that can help shift
the debate from one of welfare and pity to one of rights and empowerment. (Graeme Innes, former
Human Rights Commissioner)
The standard of living in Australia is comparatively higher than the rest of the world. However,
there is still a disparity among the citizens of Australia regarding living standards. Though

Reflection Of My Autobiography Of Education In Nigeria
My Learning Autobiography
Introduction
I was born and raised in Nigeria: a populous country with more than 250 ethnic groups. I speak
two languages: Yoruba and English. I attended St. Bernadette Primary School and Omolaja Sodipo
Memorial Anglican Secondary School where I lived until the spring of 2013 before I moved to the
United States. The education system in Nigeria is very different from the one in the United States.
But all the same, living in the United States has also provided me with opportunities to grow and
improve in my personal life. Further, into the paper, I will be discussing my formal, semi formal
and informal education experiences and most importantly, how I learned to be who I am today.
Formal Education
In Nigeria, I went to a private school both for my primary and secondary education. The school is
in my neighborhood, and it s not very big. My dad always drops me off at school by 7 am, but he
never picks me up after school, so I had to walk home from school every day. I learned in a
rather hard way to school. One class had almost 30 students or more with just one teacher, so the
teacher doesn t pay attention to all the students. In class every day, my teacher makes each student
read one paragraph from the book until everyone in the class has read. These helped me a lot in
learning how to read very well then.
Also in my primary and secondary school, I had different teachers for different subjects, and I
always had about ten subjects a day. So since my

Pros And Cons Of Lowering The Drinking Age At 21
A big question pondered in the United States is why the legal drinking age is twenty one. The
United States people don t understand why eighteen year old can die fighting for their country, but
cannot legally drink until the age of twenty one. If you have ever talked to someone who was born
in the 1970s or earlier, they might have told you that they could legally drink under the age of
twenty one. This is true because each state is responsible for setting their own minimum legal
drinking age; not the federal government. States are responsible for setting the drinking age
based on the concept of federalism. Congress eventually passes the National Minimum Drinking
Act of 1984. According to www.legalflip.com, the Act basically states that if you want money
from the federal government that you re entitled to for road and transportation systems, you will
raise the drinking age to twenty one years old. Some states refused to change the age, but by
1988 changed the age to twenty one even if they didn t want to, so they could get money from
the federal government. I believe that the legal age should remain at twenty one. A few reasons
of why I believe that is because a lower drinking age would be unsafe, nine hundred lives yearly
have been saved by keeping the drinking age at twenty one, and lastly another critical reason not to
lower the drinking age is the prevalence of binge drinking.
A lower drinking age would be unsafe. According to www.usnews.com, twenty one was not just a

Most Positive Intervention
In my opinion, the most beneficial intervention for making people happier than they actually are is
the Three good things in life . In this intervention, each person needs to write three good things that
happened to him during the current day and what, in his opinion, caused these good things. I think
it s the most beneficial intervention due to the feelingit causes you and the consciousness it makes
on your mind, as well as the influence on your environment.
The first reason I think writing three good things is the most beneficial intervention is related to the
fact that most of the people tend to think only about the bad things they go through during the day.
When a person writes down the good things that went well on each day, it might

Clark Accomplishments
Beginning on February 9, 1779, Clark and his men embarked for Vincennes 240 miles away
through the now flooded region. The major faced a test of morality as the company trudged
through frozen dirt and in freezing waters. In the rain, the troops sung to keep high hopes and when
they were close enough to the village, Clark had to post a riflemen at the rear to encourage the tired
individuals (Davis 98). Their ambitions rose when they captured an Indian hunting canoe carrying
buffalo meat, corn, tallow, and kettles. After devouring their finds, the unit made it the final miles
within eyesight of Fort Sackville on February 23(Davis 99). The Kentuckian Major promptly
entered the village and took the main street, at the same time, Col. Hamilton... Show more content

Joy Harjo s The Woman Hanging From The Thirteenth Floor...
When creating a persona authors provide an insight into their own lives. Even if an author is not
creating an autobiographical persona, they are writing from their experiences, feelings, or
memories. For that reason, they are creating something from within. The persona usually conveys
a story or provides a message to the reader from the author. Thus, creating a strong persona is
essential to the piece of literature to convey its point. Since, the persona is the readers focus. Joy

First, the setting of the poem is in east Chicago (Kelly 140). Second, the line she is a woman of
children, of the baby Carlos connects with the image she had of the women rocking the baby.
(Kelly 140). Throughout the poem, Harjo makes many references to children, which ties them to
the children she imagined rocking in the chair. Third, Harjo makes the remark that the women who
is hanging from the window could have been in the chair. Harjo puts this idea into the poem by
writing, it was in the farther north and she was the baby then. They rocked her (Kelly 140). The
women from the poem who is hanging could have been in the chair moments before,
remembering when she was a child being comforted. Ultimately, if Harjo had not been a Native
American she would not have been at the urban Indian center, which inspired her to create the
poem. Native American women and their struggles would not have affected her. However, Harjo
says, I always write with especially these women in mind because I want us all to know as

Security on the Internet
Today s information is highly interconnected by the internet. With this interconnection of computer
systems through the internet comes computer crime. Breaking into computer systems, damaging
information, and stealing information, more commonly known as hacking, has become extremely
common on the internet. As hacking becomes more frequent, and as some would say, more of a
problem, should we consider hacking a criminal activity?
Information from across the world is stored on computer systems most of which are connected,
networked, to other computer systems through the internet. In the ideal situation, this
interconnection of information enables others from outside a specific computer network to access

Then, using flaws within the internet, JavaScript automatically downloaded whenever a user
visited an infected site that included popular search and auction destinations. That JavaScript in
turn downloaded a keystroke logging Trojan horse from another server located in Russia. The
attack ended once the Russian server was taken offline.
A second attack targeted accounts with major financial institutions, such as Citibank and Deutsche
Bank. Spread by pop up advertising, which in turn loaded malicious code, this attack uses a
Browser Helper Object (BHO), a type of file that developers frequently use to monitor Internet
Explorer sessions. In this case, whenever a user visits a banking site, just before the encrypted
secure socket layer (SSL) session starts between user and bank, the Trojan records all the POST

sending your personal banking data to a remote server.
How could this happen? Blame monopolies. When Microsoft launched its browser war against
Netscape a few years ago, we may have all lost. By encouraging Web site developers to optimize
for Internet Explorer, (Fream, 2001) Microsoft killed off the competition by offering Web surfers
flashing images and pretty sounds. Internet Explorer now holds a commanding 95 percent of the
Internet browser market. Because of that

Curling History
Since curling was invented in the late medieval times, there is no specific inventor. The first
written evidence appeared in Latin, by John McQuhin when he recorded a challenge about
throwing stones across the ice between John Sclater, a monk at Paisley Abbey, Renfrewshire, and
Gavin Hamilton, a representative in February of 1541. The report indicated that Sclater threw a
stone along the ice three times before he agreed to a contest. This event took place in Scotland
which is where curlingfirst originated. Therefore, this is considered to be how curling began and,
the people involved. The purpose of the game is to score points by getting your stones closer to the

Each player delivers two stones, in consecutive order at each end, while alternating with an
opponent. Teams declare its delivery rotation, and the skip and vice skip positions, prior to the
start of a game and maintain that rotation and those positions throughout the game. If a player is
missing at the start of a game, the team may either start the game with three players or use a
qualified alternate. A team may not play with fewer than three players. In competitions where
alternates are allowed, only one alternate can be registered and used in that competition. Each
team has a total of eight stones and play up to eight ends, when you get into the higher
tournaments you play ten ends. Ends are completed when all eight rocks from each team have
been played. If the teams are tied at the end of the game, they keep playing to however many
ends it takes to break the tie. Delivering is where the skip determines how much power they
need, how much to rotate the stone, and the direction to throw. This process requires the skip to
slide the stone down the sheet. Before the delivery, the surface of the stone and the path across
must be wiped clean. Any dirt can slow and alter the shot. The thrower shoots the rock from the
hack. The thrower s shoes that don t have a slider on it is placed in the hack. For example, if you
re a right hand curler your right foot is placed against the left side of the hack. When in the hack
the thrower lines the body up with their shoulders square to the skip s broom at the other end of
the sheet. Places the stone in front of the hack, and rises slowly pulling the stone back towards
the hack. Then push off the hack into a lunge position, moving the slider foot in front and the
other shoe behind. To help balance you have the rock in your good hand and, the free hand you

Argumentative Essay On Republicans
If I had to define the word Democratic, personally I think it means rule by the majority or a
monarchy or a plutocracy. It actually depends on your own thoughts or how you may look at it.
When it comes to Abortion, Democrats, it a woman s right to choose and therefore be legal as to
Republicans, it should not be legal and the government should restrict it as such. When it comes to
gun control laws, Democrats, more gun control laws are needed to address a seemly growing
problem with guns, Republicans oppose more gun control laws, citing that it not what the
Constitution calls for.
On to discrimination and Democrats, it s up to the government to step in and provide a net to
victims of this practice. When it comes to republicans, there are strong anti discrimination laws ...

Intervention For Smoking Cessation Of Smoking
Intervention for Smoking Cessation
The most important intervention for this patient is to quit smoking. This would be very difficult
for a person who smoke for more than 20 years to quit. I would explain to the patient that the best
way to treat her emphysema is to stop smoking. First of all, I will assess on what this patient knows
about smoking cessation. Some smokers may not have a correct information and positive attitude
about quit smoking, which could be the reasons that contribute to the failure of previous attempts of
quitting. I would explain to her that tobacco smoking is responsible for 90 percent of all cases of
COPD, including emphysema (MacGill, 2015). Normally, when particles enter the lung, these
particles lands on a thin layer of mucus inside the lungs. The little hairs, called cilia, help to move
mucus and the particles from the lungs upward toward the throat. This process allows the mucus to
be expelled or swallowed (American Thoracic Society, 2015). Coughing is another way the lungs
protect themselves from irritants in bronchial tubes (American Thoracic Society, 2015). Inhalation
of smoke, over times, will destroy cilia, and they no longer remove mucus effectively. Subsequently,
mucus accumulates inside the lungs causing irritation and coughing (American Thoracic Society,
2015). The most effective way to stop coughing is to stop smoking.
I would also point out that the patient is developing a condition called Leukoplakia as evidence by

Aluminum Foil Research Paper
Aluminum foil is used in almost every modern household, mostly for preparing food. However,
in the recent period this type of foil is used more frequently by Russian and Chinese healers
because according to them aluminum foil has strong healing properties. If you have problems
with sore hands, you need to wrap your fingers, and if necessary, the whole arm with foil. The
same goes for the neck, back, shoulders, knees and heels, simply wrap the painful area with
aluminum foil and the pain will disappear for a short time. This interesting healing method has
been long practiced by Chinese and Russian healers, and it has been thoroughly explained in the
books of Wilhelm Reich, a psychotherapist and student of S. Freud. How can aluminum foil heal

The Carrying Capacity Of A Tourist Resource
.
The carrying caapacity studies began during the 1930 s (O Reilly, 1986; Saveriades, 2000), they
were principally developed in the 1960 s in the national parks of the United States of America
(McCool and Lime, 2001; Manning et al., 2002).The carrying capacity concept is essentially a
decision making framework informed by the regular measurement of agreed indicators of quality.
The concept of carrying capacity was derived in the early 1960 s from range management and was
applied to tourism and hospitality management. It was concluded that carrying capacity is not just
one single notion but an amalgamation of four different carrying capacities which are namely
physical, Ecological psychological and Economical. Ecological carrying capacity relates to the
maximum use of a tourist resource without causing any harm to the environment. Social carrying
capacity relates to the reaction of the local people to the tourist development of the place, which
should never be negative, Psychological carrying capacity relates to the quality of visitors
satisfaction with a certain tourist destination, which is not to be decreased; Economic carrying
capacity relates to the level of acceptable dependence between the local economy and the level of
the tourist development of a place, which should never become too heavy
The carrying capacity of any tourist destination, whether it be an historic building, a beach or a
dive site, is not a single figure that can be calculated and fixed. It is a

Have you ever had an extraordinary desire for something, only to have someone tell you it is out
of your reach? Does that make you try harder, or completely give up? In Professor X s essay, In
the basement of Ivory Tower, (X) he goes into great detail stating how his students have the desire
to maintain high academic standards in order to receive a promotion, to further their career, or
because it is a job requirement. However, these same students cannot possibly pass their classes
due to their lack of abilities. Initially, I found myself believing the author was hostile and unhappy
in his career, although, the more I read this article I found myself shifting opinions, and I began to
appreciate what a controversial topic college educationtruly is. Professor X discusses how some
students are unfit for college. I believe that college isn t for everyone. Furthermore, society has set
expectations that everyone should attend college. As a society we have lost track of the value of
apprentice programs.
My whole life I have heard that college isn t something you think about doing it is simply
something everyone must do. I cannot help but believe that there are some very valid points to
Professor X s article, for example, when he states that some students are simply unfit for the
academic level that college requires. The author states, Everyone wants to triumph. But not

How Business Continuity And Disaster Recovery Plans...
Introduction
During the last SLP the subject area moved from the organization s VPN to a more boarder
concept of the overall security awareness of the organization. In this SLP, we will once again go
back to covering the organization s VPN system. The reason for this change is that the concepts of
business continuity and disaster recovery are most important to the use of the company s VPN. This
document will examine how business continuity and disaster recovery plans directly impact the use
of the VPN system. Additionally, there will be a discussion pertaining to the challenges and
solutions connected to the VPN and the influence of business continuity as well as disaster
recovery planning.
Challenges Associated with BC/DR pertaining to VPN
Key factors of the business continuity/disaster recovery plans are designed to ensure that the
three principles of information security remain intact even if there is some kind of a disaster or
service interruption. Perhaps the greatest of there is the area of availability . This is especially
true when one considers what the VPN means to being able to communicate electronically in the
midst of a crisis. One must remember that in normal operations information security is important
and in times of distress it is that more imperative. This at times will prove to be challenging to say
the least. However, the business continuity plan as well as the disaster recovery plan must spell out
how the services of the affected area(s) will

Anion Of An Aldol Reaction In Which An Enolate Ion Formed By
An aldol reaction is an addition reaction in which an aldehyde or ketone is attacked by an enolate
ion of the same compound (Klein, 2015), but can also be an enolate ion of another compound.
The enolate ion formed is due to an anion coming in to deprotonate the alpha carbon of a carbonyl
compound (Klein, 2015). The general result of an aldol addition is always a ОІ hydroxy aldehydeor
ketone, but can also undergo condensation as it sometimes loses a small molecule or water or an
alcohol group which will produce a different product altogether. This reaction can also serve as a
chain elongation as it forms a new C C bond (Mayo, Pike, Forbes, 2015). The hypothesis for this
aldol reactionwas to yield dibenzalacetone, a bright yellow precipitate, with a 1:2 molar ration of
acetone and benzaldehyde (Handayani Arty,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the stepwise mechanism, as shown in figure 1, an enolate is formed in the acetone compound
when a hydroxide ion deprotonates its alpha carbon due to benzaldehyde s absence of an alpha
carbon with any available protons. The carbon anion then proceeds to attack the carbonyl carbon on
the benzaldehyde carbon, which then results in a chain elongation as well as the oxygen receiving
its lone pair of electrons causing an instability issue. The oxygen then attacks a water molecule,
taking a hydrogen atom to produce an alcohol group. This is the general condition of a simple aldol
reaction (Klein, 2015). However, another hydroxide ion deprotonates the alpha carbon which is
centered between the alcohol and carbonyl groups, creating another

The Holocaust, as you may already know, Was created by hitler as a way to raise hope in his

thought they were wrong. The holocaust was a span of quite some time from January 30, 1933 to
May 8, 1945. After liberation many Jewish survivors feared to return to their former homes because
of the antisemitism (hatred of Jews) that persisted in parts of Europe and the trauma they had
suffered. Some who returned home feared for their lives. In postwar Poland, for example, there
were a number of pogroms (violent anti Jewish riots). The largest of these occurred in the town
of Kielce in 1946 when Polish rioters killed at least 42 Jews and beat many others. From

Something rather than nothing refers to the cosmological argument for the existence of God
claiming that all things in nature; something are dependent on something else for their existence.
As Lucretius puts it in his first book De Rerum Natura, by observing nature and her laws...her first
principle: that nothing s brought forth by any supernatural power out of naught hence we arrive at
nihil fit ex nihilo nothing comes from nothing
Therefore, this something must have caused. It would however be insufficient to just give an
explanation which contradicts itself because it then becomes falsifiable. God has been the result of

Although civilians of the Western developed countries are fixated on the profit of entertainment

dehumanization, and poverty in under developed peoples. At first glance, there are very many
noticeable points in Cole s drawing. For example, the man featured in the illustration is holding a
newspaper with the main headline saying HUNGER GAMES GROSSES $155M OPENING. The
subheadings read Inside: War, poverty, and genocide. The way the headline and subheadings are

it wants independence, but Serbia believes that it is an autonomous province of Serbia. It

reasons why it should be part of Serbia. Kosovo should be independent because Serbians have
committed genocide against ethnic Kosovar Albanians, other countries have broke free from

Hublot segment its target market by demographics which illustrate different customers attitudes.
According to Dubois et al. (2001: 35), there are three types of customers. The first is Elitist s
Group , customers in this group state that luxury product must be small educated, sophisticated
and refined. And it should differentiate itself from others. It is indeed expensive and cannot be
mass distributed (ibid). The second type is Democratic group that customers in this section
consider the luxury should be mass distributed and accessible to consumers. To appreciate luxury
goods no special education is required, this section do not consider luxury should be reserved to
refined people. Additionally, they think that it is not the word of good taste or differentiation, it is
also not necessary to be expensive. The customers in this section has being positive to luxury

negative attitude towards luxury, they consider luxury is another world where they do not belong
to. In fact, luxury does not attract them, also they cannot find out any value, attribute or relevance,
especially useless and too expensive. They report that more taxes should be paid from luxury

Sacred Cow in India
18 India s sacred cow MARVIN HARRIS Other people s religious practices and beliefs may often
appear to be wasteful. They seem to involve a large expenditure of scarce resources on ritual; they
contain taboos that restrict the use of apparently useful materials. Their existence seems irrational
in the face of ecological needs. One example that many cite in support of this viewpoifJt is the
religious proscription on the slaughter of cattle in India. How can people permit millions of cattle
to roam about eating, but uneaten, in a land so continuously threatened by food shortages and

Thereafter, the cow taboo assumed its modern form and began to function much as it does
today. The place of the cow in modern India is every place on posters, in the movies, in brass
figures, in stone and wood carvings, on the streets, in the fields. The cow is a symbol of health
and abundance. It provides the milk that Indians consume in the form of yogurt and ghee
(clarified butter), which contribute subtle flavors to much spicy Indian food. This, perhaps, is
the practical role of the cow, but cows provide less than half the milk produced in India. Most
cows in India are not dairy breeds. In most regions, when an Indian farmer wants a steady, high
quality source of milk he usually invests in a female water buffalo. In India the water buffalo is
the specialized dairy breed because its milk has a higher butterfat content than zebu milk.
Although the farmer milks his zebu cows, the milk is merely a by product. . More vital than zebu
milk to South Asian farmers are zebu calves. Male calves are especially valued because from
bulls come oxen, which are the mainstay of the Indian agricultural system. Small, fast oxen drag
wooden plows through late spring fields when monsoons have dampened the dry, cracked earth.
After harvest, the oxen break the grain from the stalk by stomping through mounds of cut wheat
and rice. For rice cultivation in irrigated fields, the male water buffalo is preferred (it pulls better in

In the court case United States v. Ludwig the police took a narcotics dog through a parking lot in
hopes that he would find the scent of drugs (www.loompanatics.com). Since a motorized vehicle
has the ability to be driven far away and evidence can be removed, police believe that under
certain circumstances they can search a car without a warrant. A dog alerted the cops by letting
them know he smelled the scent of narcotics. They asked the suspect if they can search his truck.
The suspect didn t give them consent he was against the search but they still took the keys from
him to search the truck. They found drugs in his trunk and a couple of large bags of marijuana.
The police didn t have a warrant nor did they have permission from the suspect to search his
truck. The Supreme Court first ruled that it was unlawful to search his car without a warrant and
no legit reasoning for the search. Then the court ruled that it was lawful because the officers
said that the dog alerting them, were their reasoning for a warrantless search. The cops also
stated in court that the reason they took the suspect s keys is because if they have didn t, there
was a possibility that he could drive off and get rid off the drugs which would be their loss of
evidence. This case shows how citizens have certain rights when it comes to their vehicles but they
can still be violated in a sense. The next letter of the acronym is for illegal consent

Virgin Of Immaculate Conception Analysis
An overview of The Virgin of the Immaculate Conception
The Virgin of Immaculate Conception was created in the late 18th century in most likely South
America, probably Cuzco, Peru (Dallas Museum of Art). The illustration was formed with oil on a
canvas and the artist is unknown. The artwork is currently being displayed at the Dallas Museum of
Art within the Latin American Art section. The Virgin of Immaculate Conceptionbelongs to the The
Cleofas and Celia de la Garza Collection and was a gift from Mary de la Garza Hanna and Virginia
de la Garza. Other featured works in this collection are The Ascension of Christ and Flight into
Egypt, both by an unknown artist. This artwork is a religiously stylized piece composed to
represent the values of the Virgin Mary s life, heritage, and future.
Subject History
The Immaculate Conception of the Virgin began appearing as a subject in art in the 17th century
Spain, and from there it spread in the Spanish colonies of the New World. (Dallas Museum of Art,
2017) The movement of highlighting religious figures within Latin American culture not only
served as simply appreciating masterful works of art, but also as a symbol of a person or family s
dedication to their chosen spiritual entity. The spiritual leaders such as St. Matthew, St. Peter, and

The technique was first introduced in the early 20th Century (Pearson 1901 and Hotelling 1933
cited in Kolenikov and Angeles 2004; Krishnan 2008). It is a multivariate analysis method that is
used to transform a large number of related (correlated) variables into a smaller and parsimonious
set of orthogonal (unrelated) factors. These unrelated factors, or the principal components as they
are popularly called, are linear weighted combinations of the initial variables used in the data set.
The technique orders the components so that the first is a linear index of all the variables that
accounts for the largest amount of variation in all the variables, while the second, which is
orthogonal to the first, accounts for the maximum variation that is not accounted for in the first
index. Each subsequent component accounts for the maximum variation that is not accounted for
by the preceding components until all the variance in the original variables is accounted for. A
formal definition of principal components analysis is presented below.

Obesity: One of the ancient trait we have is to store food in our body when we need that in the
event of the famine. Back in the old days, we use to prey on other animals and hunt and we were

or not, let the calories burn. They also overstuff themselves, letting the food they had before sit
there and convert into fat. This is the ultimate reason for humans to get overweight. This tells us
that our body was made to eat food in a limited amount and exercising.
Hemorrhoids: The hemorrhoids are caused when the blood doesn t pump through the veins

After a while the vein would get bigger and bigger and leave a person in pain. This can also lead to

programming experience, I combined my passion for languages and technology by developing a
smartphone application that teaches toddlers simple words and sentence structure in various
languages. The application is intuitive enough for young children to effortlessly handle and has
modes of use that imitate the way humans naturally learn to speak a language: through listening,
repetition, and immediate feedback. My experience with a bilingual and bicultural upbringing has
given me an insatiable curiosity for all languages, cultures, histories, and places. It has also
equipped me with the necessary skills to function in diverse environments and easily adapt to new
situations. When I think of my future with its many unknowns, there are a few things of which I
am certain: I want to study abroad, keep uttering first words in new languages, and become a truly
international citizen of the

Ajax Vs Greek
Compare of Achilles and Ajax Playing a Board Game
Ancient Greek vase painting is rich in content, it mostly about myths and heroic legends, to
reflecting Greece lives very broadly, such as war, hunting, manufacturing, home, entertainment,
sports and so on. The styles of painting vase are very dramatic, humane with rich hospitality feeling
to represented the beauty and elegance, in order to shows the Greeks confident and optimistic
spirit. I found interested on painter Exekias and Leagros Group amphora with the same theme of
Achilles and Ajax playing a board game. Exekias who was called the greatest black figure artist,
his black figure technique is proficiency particularly on curving heroes. Moreover, he painted a
scene of Achilles and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As for the Achilles and Ajax playing a board game by painter Leagros Group, it is also a black
figure neck amphora created about ca 510 B.C. from Athens, Greece. the height is 30.4
centimeters and rather than a wine jar, it was used as a storage jar. (Attic Black Figure Neck
Amphora) In term of the shape of amphora, it is one of the oldest and most common form, which
has round black handles and an echinus foot, the shape is like an upside down shallow bowl, the
mouth is more wide open, it has a cylindrical handle, and the area between the neck and the
shoulder of amphora, it has a deeper radian angler. basically, the whole amphora was painted in
orange yellow color, excluded the mouth and handles, which are painted in black. Indeed, it is
an evolution of Exekias contribution, each of these shape has its own pattern of moderate and
exquisite change over time. According to the Understanding Greek Vases, the aesthetic of Greek
vase painting is more fundamental than interplay and the balance between the contrasting dark
and light areas on a vase, between the black painted areas and orange red of the unpainted part.
(The Understanding Greek Vases) In fact, for this amphora painted by Leagros Group, the
balance of the dark and light area was set by the black concentrated in the picture, and the picture
dominates the vase, which seems like the whole image was enlarge by the image and takes up the
most space on the amphora, because it was painted with double leaved ivy on the neck, and it s
also painted double lotus and palmette pattern on the lower part of body, but it s larger than first
picture, therefore the pattern is perfectly fit to the neck of the amphora. Whereas, this amphora
painted more double lotus and palmette chain in between the lower border and main image, also in
the interface of the neck and shoulder, it has a

New Imperialism In The Late 19th Century
The New Imperialism came about in the late nineteenth century. Western Europe focused on
expansion trying to make their countries greater through invasion. The imperialism of these
decades is called new because of the rush to rule more territories directly rather than just control
with them (730). Nations included in this new imperialismwere Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean. The
Scramble to Africa began in the 1880s. Many countries in Europechallenged each other for:
dominance over the land in Africa, for the materials produced in Africa such as palm oil, cotton,
diamonds, cocoa and rubber, and for control over the ports along the coasts in Africa. All nations
had a conference in Berlin discussing how to divide their territories in... Show more content on

Japanese went and visited to Europe and the United States to find out more about technological
and industrial developments in these world fairs they were holding. Japans strong desire for
success provoked neighbors like China and Russia. The Russians had built the Trans Siberian
Railroad that sent Russian colonizers who contributed to Anti Japanese groups in Korea. In the
battle of Tsushima, the Japanese destroyed the Russian fleet who traveled halfway around the
globe to be defeated in. Opening an era of Japanese domination in East Asian Politics, the victory
was the first by a none European nation over a European great power in the modern age (736).
After the Japanese defeated the Chinese in 1895, drought and famine made it a struggle for the
Chinese. They created an organization called the Society of the Righteous and Harmonious fist, or
boxers who made it their mission to defeat anyone who they thought caused their misery. Eight
colonial powers put down the boxer up rising and required the Chinese to pay a huge amount in
addition to forcing a wider foreign military occupation

Music In The Hobbit
Music is featured in many different things, such as films, novels, and television. Music also plays a
role in the development of the magical beings from The Hobbit. In the novel the dwarves, elves,
and goblins sing a musical tune. It sets the tone in the chapter they are in ,but it also has different
content and structure. The reader meets the dwarves, elves ,and the goblin that reveals something
about each creature.
When the reader learns about the dwarves he knows little about them. Immediately upon hearing
their song you know about the day Smaug came and took over where they lived. The reader can tell
that the tone is miserable and hopeful because they remember the details of dale set on fire, their

Living and Coping with Cystic Fibrosis in the South Asian...
A widely accepted Caucasian disease has since changed; as cases of its existence are appearing in
the South Asian Population (Orenstein, Rosenstein and Stern, 2000). First discovered in 1989,
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a genetically predetermined condition, its presences is lifelong and highly
complex, which is why many CF sufferers and families develop various mechanisms in order to
adapt to the condition (Tippingemail, Scholes, Cox, 2010). Cystic Fibrosiscauses the body to
develop thick, sticky mucus which clogs the lungs and affects other organs in the body, mainly the
pancreas. The layer of mucus if untreated develops in to a chronic infection which can be
detrimental. The pancreas of a CF patient is most vulnerable, once the mucus has... Show more

Discussions of such issues suggest that other external factors may be influencing the decisions and
maintenance of many CF patients. For instance CF patients need to prioritise the way in which they
self manage their treatment, this can be difficult when trying to balance family, work, education and
other responsibilities and their levels of adherence may fluctuate (Sawicki, Sellers, Robinson,
2009). These fluctuations can be detrimental to their condition and may result in hospitalisation,
causing additional disruptions in their daily life. However, engaging in so called normal activities
might therefore also reinforce a sense of being healthy and having a nondifferent identity.
Conquering a healthy balance is one which CF patients may need to adopt. One of the significant
points from McCormick et al, (2005) research underlined the substantial clinical differences for
females in comparison to males. The authors found that females had worst disease severity than
males. Why might this difference be occurring? In 2009 Besier, Schmitz and Goldbeck,
investigated the effects of relationship status on life satisfaction, as numerous findings suggest that
despite the relationship status, many females CF patients still reported worse quality of life scores
than males (Walters, Britton, Hodson, 1993). Besier et al, (2009) administrated the Life satisfaction
questionnaire on a sample of 243 CF (129

Relation Between Sarcopenia And Functional Disabilities...
Relation between sarcopenia and functional disabilities and increase risk of falls
Several cross sectional, observational studies have related sarcopenia to decline of functional status,
such as mobility performance, self reported functional limitations, and disability, it is well
established that the aging process itself is associated with numerous changes in the human body.
One of the most significant age related anatomical changes is that which happens to the skeletal
muscle mass (Visser and Schaap, 2011).
Sarcopenia is used to indicate progressive reduction in muscle mass, muscle strength and function
that affect older people (Pathy et al., 2006).
Sarcopenia results in unfavorable and detrimental effects on an older person s physical function.
Muscle mass decrease is probably the single most frequent cause of late life disability among older
people. It is directly responsible for functional impairment with loss of strength, and increased
likelihood of falls and fractures, as muscles account for 60% of the body protein stores, the
reduction in lean body mass has other health effects independent of its functional consequences
(Rolland et al., 2008).
A number of physiological functions that take place within the muscle tissues have an essential role
in human metabolism. For example, muscles are important body protein reserves and energy that
can be used in extreme conditions such as stress or malnutrition; amino acids can be mobilized
during acute infections and are

My Eating Habits
My eating habits! When I bring lunch to school, all of the people in the Cohort (even the
professors!) are shocked! It is a rare sight to see me with lunch. Most of the time, it is because I
m never very hungry until around 4. And I ll admit it is just not healthy. I rarely ever eat breakfast
either! Not only do I not eat three meals, but I m also not eatinglike I should. I ll be honest, I have
been living off Pizza Rolls. Now, I am not saying I am going to go on a crazy diet or starting eating
broccoli, but I need to start eating more and eating less Pizza Rolls.
Drink more water! I will be completely honest right now, over the course of the entire semester I
probably only finished 3 bottles of water total. I ve never been much of a water drinker, but I can t
continue this bad habit this semester. I decided that I have to at least drink the recommended
amount of water per day. To help meout, I am a using a water bottle that has lines and times! It
will help me manage my new habit and stay on top of how much water I am drinking. You can t
pour from an empty glass!
My sleeping habits! If you don t sleep enough, you can t be your best self! How did this go
wrong last semester? Well, last semester I was waking up at 6 am and not going to bed until 12
1am! Why? I was doing this because a huge portion of my day surrounded school and homework
and then when it was time for bed, I would try to have some me time and then end up staying up
late. I decided that this semester, I will

Matthew And Luke Compare And Contrast
The Synoptic Gospels paint a picture of the life, ministry and death of the Savior Jesus Christ.
Each book has several of the same accounts recorded, they differ in small ways but the summary is
the same. Then we come across details, important vivid details, in one book such as Matthew that
aren t found in Luke. Matthew and Luke both spend a significant amount of time with Jesusand
their accounts of this are invaluable. It s important to our faith and the History of Jesus to compare
these books and use them together to see the entire picture of the Jesus Christ. This paper will
explain a few of the differences and the significance of these differences in Matthew and Luke.
As we read the genealogies given by Matthew and Luke we immediately see some differences. The
genealogies are not a contradiction to one another; they are laid out differently because Luke and
Matthew are addressing different audiences. Matthew, writing to a primarily Jewish audience,
emphasizes that Jesus Christ is the seed of Abraham and the legal heir of David, the long awaited

(Luke 1:13) This baby is John the Baptist. His ministry was to spread the news of a Savior, Jesus
who would rescue the world from their sins.
It s not until verse 30 that Jesus birth is mentioned. But the angel said to her, Do not be afraid,
Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to
call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will

The Gambino Crime Family
Paul Castellano, or Big Paul was an eight grade dropout and boss of the richest, most dangerous,
and most powerful crime syndicate in the United States. Born June 26, 1915 in Brooklyn, Big Paul
began his life in the mob by running numbers. When he was named successor to the great Carlo
Gambino, trouble arose. Many members felt that Aniello Dellacroce, although in prison, deserved
the role but instead Gambino had promoted Paul. Some saw this as nepotism which was generally
frowned upon on by La Cosa Nostra. To settle tensions Castellano gifted Neil Dellacroce some of
the family s most lucrative operations throughout Manhattan and Queens, but this did not
completely satisfy the slighted underboss. Paul, like Gambino, was an unusual type of Mafiaboss.
Unfortunately, while Don Carlo was revolutionary, Big Paul was unsatisfactory. He was
embarrassed that he was categorized as a gangster and preferred to be regarded as a diplomat or
businessman. Big Paul was said to look more like a businessman or CEO than a mobster. Paul
Castellanowas flashy too; he liked elegant clothing, fine dining, and being driven around by
chauffeur. He even detested violence which is not a good quality for a mob boss to obtain. The
Pope as he was referred to, was standoffish. His predecessor had gone to the markets in Little Italy,
held court in public places, lived in the city, and interacted with his soldiers and capos. Big Paul on
the other hand, generally held court at his private estate, did

Music, Language, And Characters In The Hobbit
Did you know that in The Hobbit many magical creatures like the goblins, elves, and dwarves
sing songs that reveal many things about them. In this novel music plays a role in the
development of the story and characters. The different creatures songs vary in tone, content, and
structure that reveal many things about the magical creatures. First, after the dwarves or the
unexpected party arrived they sang a song about an adventure that they would ask Bilbo to join
and what it was about. The tone of the song was to persuade and inspire Bilbo to agree to go. For
example the dwarves sand, Far over the Misty Mountainscold. This line was repeated multiple
times in the song and caused Bilbo s Tookish side to want to see the great mountains and go on
an adventure. The poem s content consisted of explaining the reasons to go on the adventure.
They sung, To win our harps and gold from him. This explains that they must return to their
ancestors land to win back the riches that were taken by Smaug. There also was a lot of rhyme
in this song, Tolkien states the dwarves sing Far over the misty mountains cold To dungeons deep
and caverns old We must away ere break of day To seek the pale and enchanted gold. This is a
great example of rhyme the ending sounds of cold, old, and gold sound alike. The tone, content,
and structure signal features about the dwarves. This song showed that the dwarves are very
adventurous and brave. Since they must cross back over the dangerous,

The Importance Of Mismanagement
Without a budget in place, a nonprofit will be looking at its feet, and will soon find itself walking
into a brick wall. This is clearly not a way to operate any form of business. In the nonprofit world,
this can quickly become a death knell or, minimally, have your creditors up in arms.
Mismanagement can affect future funding, donation streams, and the adoration of the local
foundation that used to love you.
How does a nonprofit ensure it has its vision set for the future? Multiple budgets capturing
different criteria and timelines will provide a readable, functional map. They will offer useful
guidance and benchmarks to ensure you are charting your progress. As a tool for staff, especially
Program Directors, they are a means to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whether based on a percentage of salaries, square footage, revenue, or a combination of factors, the
hidden costs of running a program are still there. Critical software for the Finance Director includes
a budget package, so the agreed upon budget can be tracked each month. A Profit and Loss
Statement with Budget is the preferred route, as the Program Director will see how close they are
to their targeted amount. If they actually do read and understand the numbers, they will find errors:
an expense belonging to another department, or funding that has not been received as expected.
They will, however, rarely tell you that an $880 program material expense is not showing up, and
may hope no one else notices it.
Grant funding does not always include an allowance for direct overhead or administrative costs
(Renz, 2016). Still, each program must absorb costs of the overhead. Continuing with the
complexity of nonprofit budgeting, building various revenue streams into a program s budget is a
task fraught with peril. Multiple funding may be provided for one program, or one grant may
cover several. This is when your finance staff will often be seen wearing wigs or headscarves to
hide the missing hair they have yanked out.
Likewise, overhead costs must be planned and budgeted for as well, regardless of how much of
this cost you can successfully apply to program budgets. Review your previous year s operating

Keep Your Coins, I Want Change
Over a century ago Antonio Gramsci extrapolated on the theory of hegemony derived from Marxist
ideology. Gramsci sees hegemony, in the context of culture, as a dominant group who holds the
most power and asserts it through controlling dominant messages. Alternatively, counter hegemony
is the oppositional voice to these messages. People who are part of the dominant group live with
dominant messages may not be aware that they are hegemonic reinforcements. That is where
counter hegemonycomes in to disrupt the dominant message and show its flaws or reminds us that
they are just conditionings and that we actually have a choice of other alternatives (Edgar
Sedgwick). One artist who works with these messages is Banksy. He is a cultural jammer... Show

Counter hegemony could also help a society to function because it can bring in new and better
ideas. Like with Banksy s artwork messages can be put into the public to inform them of
different choices. I think Gramsci s theory is too linear in some aspects like when he mentions
that we are all controlled by hegemonic messages, if this were so, then counter hegemony would
never be able to change anything. Feminisim is an example of a counter hegemonic message that
has changed peoples perceptions. Another critique of this theory is that hegemony is apparently
completely bad and desperately needs to change. If it were so bad, I believe people would have
no problem dismantling it. If rebellion didn t exist, especially in art, what would happen? Would
culture decay? Cultural jamming seems to take concepts from Gramsci s ideas because it uses
counter hegemony to fight against capitalist hegemony and disrupt normal values. Banksy again is
a good example of this with his work because he chooses anonymity in a generation that seems to
emphasize fame and popularity. Ironically his fame and the worth of his art seems to dominate the
messages which are more important in front of it. Counter hegemony art in a capitalist society?

There is also growing integration across products. In particular, wine marketers are being bought

development of global brand identities and distribution systems. As a California wine consultant

marketers, at least three have significant holdings in beer and/or spirits. The world s largest wine

The University Writing Center And The Academic Success Center
The University Writing Center (UWC) and the Academic Success Center (ASC) are two of the
university initiatives that help students enrich their academic experience. While UWC assists
students in improving their written and oral communication skills through one to one consulting
sessions, online resources, and workshops, ASC works to enhance students intellectual performance
through academic coaching, supplemental instruction, drop in tutoring sessions, and peer
mentoring. Both of the organizations take a collaborative learning approach to encourage students
to develop necessary study skills for academic success and increase studentretention. ASC offers
various student development programs; however, our focus for this proposal will be on drop in
tutoring services offered by ASC.
The number of students using these campus resources is growing every semester. Although many
students on campus are willing to use these services, their availability is limited. Students are often
discouraged to use these resources due unavailability of appointments, and long wait times. In
order to increase the efficiency of these programs and to uphold to their mission of helping
students reach their full academic potential, I purpose to research several strategies that will
increase the accessibility of these resources to a larger student population. Specifically, I purpose to
increase the number of locations at which they provide their services, recruit more staff and
increase their operation

  • 2. Essay On Position Of Power Power. The world has an absolute fascination with it, it seems that the only articles we see of late are on someone in a position of power, from prostitution scandals to corruption allegations along with the seemingly endless amounts of charges against corporate executives or world class athletes, headlines these days are filled to the brim with the latest misstep of those in positions of power. So where did it all go wrong? Through the many studies that psychologists have performed in the past, Dacher Keltner from the University of California may have been the one which stumbled across the goldmine, following a study where he performed a survey on freshmen at the start of the semester, asking them to provide their first impressions of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mr. Keltner having noticed these findings came up with the observation that holding a seat of power is an incredibly consistent effect, When you give people power, they basically start acting like fools. They flirt inappropriately, tease in a hostile fashion, and become totally impulsive. nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man s character, give him power quoted by Abraham Lincoln, a man of immense power. No truer statement on power has been stated, power is an addictive idea, drug like, drawing us in, seeping into our brains, latching hold and changing our decisions and morals. It can change people for the better or for the worse, however at this point in time the latter is more common than the former. The only conclusion we can make right now is that there is a cycle of power, you start at the bottom, a receptionist maybe, intentions pure, you work hard and slowly find yourself moving up the ranks, with each rank you move up, you find that there are more and more people in a lower position who must answer to you and your mindset, your intentions, your characteristics ever so slowly change and you become quick to anger, reckless and rude. The fact is, people become this way because it won t threaten their position, had you been a receptionist, any behaviour like this would ve resulted in being shown the door and a positive reference for your next job, if you re lucky. With the idea that there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It can be found within the mucous membranes, as a part of the skin flora, and in animals. If S. epidermidis comes in contact with a person who has a compromised immune system, it may cause infection merely to those inside of hospital settings. It like to live on the surface, but once inside a host can cause serious problems. Procedural Due Process Analysis Under the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments, citizens are protected from national and state governments denying them their life, liberty or property without due process of the law and have a right to some form of trial or hearing. (Magleby, O Brien, Light, Peltason, Cronin, 2008., p. 470) Though the Supreme Court has refused multiple times to define due process conclusively saying instead that due process, is not a technical conception with a fixed content unrelated to time, place, and circumstances, but due process relates to the rules and regulations that restrain how the government exercises power. The company mostly focuses on analog products within the semiconductor portion of the electronic industry. Linear Technology was unique in their payout policy in the sense that they started with announcing dividends and then continued onto repurchasing. Linear started dividends to gain the respect of investors as well as show that buying shares in the company of Linear was less risky than all the other technology companies. Additionally, they repurchase stocks to offset the employee stock options that the company had as a large component of the employee compensation, which helped Linear in the years of low or slow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Earnings and earnings per share are not affected by the dividend payout. Another option Linear Technology has to exercise its excess cash balance, they can repurchase shares to increase the value of the firm. This repurchase option is beneficial to the company and shareholders because in an open market share repurchase has no effect on the stock price. In addition, by repurchasing shares the firm s earnings and earnings per share will increase. As shown in Exhibit B, by calculating the total numbers of shares repurchased (total cash balance /price per share) and subtracting it from the number of shares outstanding will give us the number of shares left outstanding after the repurchase to be 261,703,052. Exhibit B shows how this decrease in the number of shares drove up the earnings per share value by $0.10 from $0.55 to $0.65. When the company repurchases shares instead of paying out in special dividends, the firm s value will increase and it also allows the firm to retain its cash reserves within the company. In general, companies pay dividends for a number of reasons. Dividends provide certainty about the company s financial well being. Many investors prefer the steady and secure income that comes with dividends and see dividends as strength in the company and a sign of future positive earnings. Dividend initiators tend to be large and stable firms with low growth rates ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The three main rulers that were involved in this unifying was: Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokygawa Ieyasu. Before the Isolationism period, the Japanese had already welcomed the Westerners. The first people were from Portuguese in the 1543. Yet, the Shogunate and Daimayo would keep a very close contact and business very controlled in Japan. They also prohibited Japanese that left the country and westerners from returning to Japan. By closing the doors to the world Japan isolated itself and began to find a different way to unify their own country without any of the Westerners influences. The Daimayos had a generosity by having contact with the west to enhance Japan s trade. The Japanese would buy silver and copper from the Dutch and sold silk to them. Although this doctrine was adopted in 1948, there is a significant amount of work to be done worldwide. Moreover, the absence of a right to housing would compromise many other basic rights including the right to family life and privacy, freedom of movement, assembly and association, and the right to health. The Commonwealth of Australia believes that everyone has the right to an adequate standard of living, including adequate food, water, and housing. Australia acknowledges adequate housing as an essential for human survival as supported in documents such as Australia s National Human Rights Action Plan. Human rights provides us with a language and a framework that can help shift the debate from one of welfare and pity to one of rights and empowerment. (Graeme Innes, former Human Rights Commissioner) The standard of living in Australia is comparatively higher than the rest of the world. • 9. Reflection Of My Autobiography Of Education In Nigeria My Learning Autobiography Introduction I was born and raised in Nigeria: a populous country with more than 250 ethnic groups. I speak two languages: Yoruba and English. I attended St. Bernadette Primary School and Omolaja Sodipo Memorial Anglican Secondary School where I lived until the spring of 2013 before I moved to the United States. The education system in Nigeria is very different from the one in the United States. But all the same, living in the United States has also provided me with opportunities to grow and improve in my personal life. Further, into the paper, I will be discussing my formal, semi formal and informal education experiences and most importantly, how I learned to be who I am today. Formal Education In Nigeria, I went to a private school both for my primary and secondary education. The school is in my neighborhood, and it s not very big. My dad always drops me off at school by 7 am, but he never picks me up after school, so I had to walk home from school every day. I learned in a rather hard way to school. One class had almost 30 students or more with just one teacher, so the teacher doesn t pay attention to all the students. In class every day, my teacher makes each student read one paragraph from the book until everyone in the class has read. These helped me a lot in learning how to read very well then. • 11. Pros And Cons Of Lowering The Drinking Age At 21 A big question pondered in the United States is why the legal drinking age is twenty one. The United States people don t understand why eighteen year old can die fighting for their country, but cannot legally drink until the age of twenty one. If you have ever talked to someone who was born in the 1970s or earlier, they might have told you that they could legally drink under the age of twenty one. This is true because each state is responsible for setting their own minimum legal drinking age; not the federal government. States are responsible for setting the drinking age based on the concept of federalism. Congress eventually passes the National Minimum Drinking Act of 1984. According to www.legalflip.com, the Act basically states that if you want money from the federal government that you re entitled to for road and transportation systems, you will raise the drinking age to twenty one years old. Some states refused to change the age, but by 1988 changed the age to twenty one even if they didn t want to, so they could get money from the federal government. I believe that the legal age should remain at twenty one. A few reasons of why I believe that is because a lower drinking age would be unsafe, nine hundred lives yearly have been saved by keeping the drinking age at twenty one, and lastly another critical reason not to lower the drinking age is the prevalence of binge drinking. A lower drinking age would be unsafe. According to www.usnews.com, twenty one was not just a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this intervention, each person needs to write three good things that happened to him during the current day and what, in his opinion, caused these good things. I think it s the most beneficial intervention due to the feelingit causes you and the consciousness it makes on your mind, as well as the influence on your environment. The first reason I think writing three good things is the most beneficial intervention is related to the fact that most of the people tend to think only about the bad things they go through during the day. Teams declare its delivery rotation, and the skip and vice skip positions, prior to the start of a game and maintain that rotation and those positions throughout the game. If a player is missing at the start of a game, the team may either start the game with three players or use a qualified alternate. A team may not play with fewer than three players. In competitions where alternates are allowed, only one alternate can be registered and used in that competition. Each team has a total of eight stones and play up to eight ends, when you get into the higher tournaments you play ten ends. Ends are completed when all eight rocks from each team have been played. If the teams are tied at the end of the game, they keep playing to however many ends it takes to break the tie. Delivering is where the skip determines how much power they need, how much to rotate the stone, and the direction to throw. This process requires the skip to slide the stone down the sheet. Before the delivery, the surface of the stone and the path across must be wiped clean. Any dirt can slow and alter the shot. The thrower shoots the rock from the hack. The thrower s shoes that don t have a slider on it is placed in the hack. For example, if you re a right hand curler your right foot is placed against the left side of the hack. This would be very difficult for a person who smoke for more than 20 years to quit. I would explain to the patient that the best way to treat her emphysema is to stop smoking. First of all, I will assess on what this patient knows about smoking cessation. Some smokers may not have a correct information and positive attitude about quit smoking, which could be the reasons that contribute to the failure of previous attempts of quitting. I would explain to her that tobacco smoking is responsible for 90 percent of all cases of COPD, including emphysema (MacGill, 2015). Normally, when particles enter the lung, these particles lands on a thin layer of mucus inside the lungs. The little hairs, called cilia, help to move mucus and the particles from the lungs upward toward the throat. This process allows the mucus to be expelled or swallowed (American Thoracic Society, 2015). Coughing is another way the lungs protect themselves from irritants in bronchial tubes (American Thoracic Society, 2015). Inhalation of smoke, over times, will destroy cilia, and they no longer remove mucus effectively. Subsequently, mucus accumulates inside the lungs causing irritation and coughing (American Thoracic Society, 2015). The most effective way to stop coughing is to stop smoking. Introduction During the last SLP the subject area moved from the organization s VPN to a more boarder concept of the overall security awareness of the organization. In this SLP, we will once again go back to covering the organization s VPN system. The reason for this change is that the concepts of business continuity and disaster recovery are most important to the use of the company s VPN. Anion Of An Aldol Reaction In Which An Enolate Ion Formed By An aldol reaction is an addition reaction in which an aldehyde or ketone is attacked by an enolate ion of the same compound (Klein, 2015), but can also be an enolate ion of another compound. The enolate ion formed is due to an anion coming in to deprotonate the alpha carbon of a carbonyl compound (Klein, 2015). The general result of an aldol addition is always a ОІ hydroxy aldehydeor ketone, but can also undergo condensation as it sometimes loses a small molecule or water or an alcohol group which will produce a different product altogether. This reaction can also serve as a chain elongation as it forms a new C C bond (Mayo, Pike, Forbes, 2015). John Cole s Illustration Essay Although civilians of the Western developed countries are fixated on the profit of entertainment media, John Cole s illustration creates an understanding of the lack of attention towards starvation, dehumanization, and poverty in under developed peoples. At first glance, there are very many noticeable points in Cole s drawing. For example, the man featured in the illustration is holding a newspaper with the main headline saying HUNGER GAMES GROSSES $155M OPENING. The subheadings read Inside: War, poverty, and genocide. The way the headline and subheadings are organized allows us to draw parallels to real world issues. The man in the comic can also be compared to a skeleton or dead body. He possesses a cadaver like skull and extremely bony limbs. He appears extremely malnourished and you can make the inference that his clothing is loose because of the weight he lost from not consuming the nutrients needed to be healthy. We can infer that this man is living in a refugee camp because of the sign in the background and also because of the tent in the image. Kosovo is a self declared independent country in the South Balkans in Europe, it wants independence, but Serbia believes that it is an autonomous province of Serbia. It declared independence in 2008 and there are a lot of reasons why, but there are also some reasons why it should be part of Serbia. Kosovo should be independent because Serbians have committed genocide against ethnic Kosovar Albanians, other countries have broke free from Serbia, thus Kosovo should be able to as well, and three out of the five members of the UN s Big Five are in agreement about the issue (UN.org). China and Russia believe that Kosovo should become independent. One reason is that Serbia has been protected by Russia since WWI when it helped it gain independence. Russia and China are allies, so China agrees with Russia on the issue. On the other side, the US, UK, and France are all in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), so they generally agree with each other, as well as the rest of NATO. Supporters of Serbian integration of Kosovo believe that Kosovo should not become independent because it might start wars, but, because there is a scenario that is well know, know as MAD, or Mutually Assured Destruction (Nieuwint). They seem to involve a large expenditure of scarce resources on ritual; they contain taboos that restrict the use of apparently useful materials. Thereafter, the cow taboo assumed its modern form and began to function much as it does today. The place of the cow in modern India is every place on posters, in the movies, in brass figures, in stone and wood carvings, on the streets, in the fields. The cow is a symbol of health and abundance. It provides the milk that Indians consume in the form of yogurt and ghee (clarified butter), which contribute subtle flavors to much spicy Indian food. This, perhaps, is the practical role of the cow, but cows provide less than half the milk produced in India. Most cows in India are not dairy breeds. In most regions, when an Indian farmer wants a steady, high quality source of milk he usually invests in a female water buffalo. In India the water buffalo is the specialized dairy breed because its milk has a higher butterfat content than zebu milk. Although the farmer milks his zebu cows, the milk is merely a by product. . More vital than zebu milk to South Asian farmers are zebu calves. Male calves are especially valued because from bulls come oxen, which are the mainstay of the Indian agricultural system. Small, fast oxen drag wooden plows through late spring fields when monsoons have dampened the dry, cracked earth. After harvest, the oxen break the grain from the stalk by stomping through mounds of cut wheat and rice. A dog alerted the cops by letting them know he smelled the scent of narcotics. They asked the suspect if they can search his truck. The suspect didn t give them consent he was against the search but they still took the keys from him to search the truck. They found drugs in his trunk and a couple of large bags of marijuana. The police didn t have a warrant nor did they have permission from the suspect to search his truck. The Supreme Court first ruled that it was unlawful to search his car without a warrant and no legit reasoning for the search. Then the court ruled that it was lawful because the officers said that the dog alerting them, were their reasoning for a warrantless search. The cops also stated in court that the reason they took the suspect s keys is because if they have didn t, there was a possibility that he could drive off and get rid off the drugs which would be their loss of evidence. For instance CF patients need to prioritise the way in which they self manage their treatment, this can be difficult when trying to balance family, work, education and other responsibilities and their levels of adherence may fluctuate (Sawicki, Sellers, Robinson, 2009). These fluctuations can be detrimental to their condition and may result in hospitalisation, causing additional disruptions in their daily life. However, engaging in so called normal activities might therefore also reinforce a sense of being healthy and having a nondifferent identity. Conquering a healthy balance is one which CF patients may need to adopt. The authors found that females had worst disease severity than males. Why might this difference be occurring? Relation between sarcopenia and functional disabilities and increase risk of falls Several cross sectional, observational studies have related sarcopenia to decline of functional status, such as mobility performance, self reported functional limitations, and disability, it is well established that the aging process itself is associated with numerous changes in the human body. One of the most significant age related anatomical changes is that which happens to the skeletal muscle mass (Visser and Schaap, 2011). Sarcopenia is used to indicate progressive reduction in muscle mass, muscle strength and function that affect older people (Pathy et al., 2006). Sarcopenia results in unfavorable and detrimental effects on an older person s physical function. Muscle mass decrease is probably the single most frequent cause of late life disability among older people. It is directly responsible for functional impairment with loss of strength, and increased likelihood of falls and fractures, as muscles account for 60% of the body protein stores, the reduction in lean body mass has other health effects independent of its functional consequences (Rolland et al., 2008). A number of physiological functions that take place within the muscle tissues have an essential role in human metabolism. For example, muscles are important body protein reserves and energy that can be used in extreme conditions such as stress or malnutrition; amino acids can be mobilized during acute infections and are ... To settle tensions Castellano gifted Neil Dellacroce some of the family s most lucrative operations throughout Manhattan and Queens, but this did not completely satisfy the slighted underboss. Paul, like Gambino, was an unusual type of Mafiaboss. Unfortunately, while Don Carlo was revolutionary, Big Paul was unsatisfactory. He was embarrassed that he was categorized as a gangster and preferred to be regarded as a diplomat or businessman. Big Paul was said to look more like a businessman or CEO than a mobster. Paul Castellanowas flashy too; he liked elegant clothing, fine dining, and being driven around by chauffeur. He even detested violence which is not a good quality for a mob boss to obtain. The Pope as he was referred to, was standoffish. His predecessor had gone to the markets in Little Italy, held court in public places, lived in the city, and interacted with his soldiers and capos. Big Paul on the other hand, generally held court at his private estate, did ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Music, Language, And Characters In The Hobbit Did you know that in The Hobbit many magical creatures like the goblins, elves, and dwarves sing songs that reveal many things about them. In this novel music plays a role in the development of the story and characters. The different creatures songs vary in tone, content, and structure that reveal many things about the magical creatures. First, after the dwarves or the unexpected party arrived they sang a song about an adventure that they would ask Bilbo to join and what it was about. The tone of the song was to persuade and inspire Bilbo to agree to go. For example the dwarves sand, Far over the Misty Mountainscold. This line was repeated multiple times in the song and caused Bilbo s Tookish side to want to see the great mountains and go on an adventure. The poem s content consisted of explaining the reasons to go on the adventure. They sung, To win our harps and gold from him. This explains that they must return to their ancestors land to win back the riches that were taken by Smaug. There also was a lot of rhyme in this song, Tolkien states the dwarves sing Far over the misty mountains cold To dungeons deep and caverns old We must away ere break of day To seek the pale and enchanted gold. This is a great example of rhyme the ending sounds of cold, old, and gold sound alike. The tone, content, and structure signal features about the dwarves. This song showed that the dwarves are very adventurous and brave. Since they must cross back over the dangerous, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. The Importance Of Mismanagement Without a budget in place, a nonprofit will be looking at its feet, and will soon find itself walking into a brick wall. This is clearly not a way to operate any form of business. In the nonprofit world, this can quickly become a death knell or, minimally, have your creditors up in arms. Mismanagement can affect future funding, donation streams, and the adoration of the local foundation that used to love you. How does a nonprofit ensure it has its vision set for the future? Multiple budgets capturing different criteria and timelines will provide a readable, functional map. They will offer useful guidance and benchmarks to ensure you are charting your progress. As a tool for staff, especially Program Directors, they are a means to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whether based on a percentage of salaries, square footage, revenue, or a combination of factors, the hidden costs of running a program are still there. Critical software for the Finance Director includes a budget package, so the agreed upon budget can be tracked each month. A Profit and Loss Statement with Budget is the preferred route, as the Program Director will see how close they are to their targeted amount. If they actually do read and understand the numbers, they will find errors: an expense belonging to another department, or funding that has not been received as expected. They will, however, rarely tell you that an $880 program material expense is not showing up, and may hope no one else notices it. Grant funding does not always include an allowance for direct overhead or administrative costs (Renz, 2016). Still, each program must absorb costs of the overhead. Continuing with the complexity of nonprofit budgeting, building various revenue streams into a program s budget is a task fraught with peril. Multiple funding may be provided for one program, or one grant may cover several. This is when your finance staff will often be seen wearing wigs or headscarves to hide the missing hair they have yanked out. Likewise, overhead costs must be planned and budgeted for as well, regardless of how much of this cost you can successfully apply to program budgets. Review your previous year s operating ... • 53. Keep Your Coins, I Want Change Over a century ago Antonio Gramsci extrapolated on the theory of hegemony derived from Marxist ideology. Gramsci sees hegemony, in the context of culture, as a dominant group who holds the most power and asserts it through controlling dominant messages. Alternatively, counter hegemony is the oppositional voice to these messages. People who are part of the dominant group live with dominant messages may not be aware that they are hegemonic reinforcements. That is where counter hegemonycomes in to disrupt the dominant message and show its flaws or reminds us that they are just conditionings and that we actually have a choice of other alternatives (Edgar Sedgwick). One artist who works with these messages is Banksy. He is a cultural jammer... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Counter hegemony could also help a society to function because it can bring in new and better ideas. Like with Banksy s artwork messages can be put into the public to inform them of different choices. I think Gramsci s theory is too linear in some aspects like when he mentions that we are all controlled by hegemonic messages, if this were so, then counter hegemony would never be able to change anything. Feminisim is an example of a counter hegemonic message that has changed peoples perceptions. Another critique of this theory is that hegemony is apparently completely bad and desperately needs to change. If it were so bad, I believe people would have no problem dismantling it. If rebellion didn t exist, especially in art, what would happen? Would culture decay? Cultural jamming seems to take concepts from Gramsci s ideas because it uses counter hegemony to fight against capitalist hegemony and disrupt normal values. Banksy again is a good example of this with his work because he chooses anonymity in a generation that seems to emphasize fame and popularity. Ironically his fame and the worth of his art seems to dominate the messages which are more important in front of it. Counter hegemony art in a capitalist society? Without ... As a California wine consultant recently remarked, The wine business is no longer a production driven business as it has been traditionally; it s fast becoming a marketing driven business [2]. Among the 10 largest global wine marketers, at least three have signiп¬Ѓcant holdings in beer and/or spirits. The world s largest wine maker, US based Constellation Brands, also markets both beer and spirits. Globally, informal or unrecorded production, trade and sale of alcohol is substantial, amounting to at least two thirds of alcohol consumption in the Indian subcontinent, approximately half of consumption in Africa and a third of consumption in Eastern Europe and Latin America [3]. • 55. The University Writing Center And The Academic Success Center The University Writing Center (UWC) and the Academic Success Center (ASC) are two of the university initiatives that help students enrich their academic experience. While UWC assists students in improving their written and oral communication skills through one to one consulting sessions, online resources, and workshops, ASC works to enhance students intellectual performance through academic coaching, supplemental instruction, drop in tutoring sessions, and peer mentoring. Both of the organizations take a collaborative learning approach to encourage students to develop necessary study skills for academic success and increase studentretention. ASC offers various student development programs; however, our focus for this proposal will be on drop in tutoring services offered by ASC. The number of students using these campus resources is growing every semester. Although many students on campus are willing to use these services, their availability is limited. Students are often discouraged to use these resources due unavailability of appointments, and long wait times. In order to increase the efficiency of these programs and to uphold to their mission of helping students reach their full academic potential, I purpose to research several strategies that will increase the accessibility of these resources to a larger student population. Specifically, I purpose to increase the number of locations at which they provide their services, recruit more staff and increase their operation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
