A Comparison of the Masks In Cold Blood, Streetcar Named...
Peeking Behind the Masks In Cold Blood, Streetcar Named Desire, and Fences
In life, we all attempt to project some kind of personality to others. We have a mask we wear in
different situations, but when times get tough, we eventually discard our masks and become our
true selves. We don t live behind our masks until the tragic end, like the characters of In Cold Blood
by Truman Capote, Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams, and Fences by August Wilson.
The three characters, Perry Smith, Blanche DuBois, and Troy Maxson wore masks to their bitter
endings, always trying to fool everyone else. When times got tough, they had to face themselves,
and they could not stand the sight.
The characters of Blanche ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Harris states that DuBois masks her life. She doesn t want to face what she really is. The worst
horror for her in her mind is for anyone else to see her true self.
The audience does see it almost right away, and they know from the first representation of
DuBois that they are in for something else. Williams sets up DuBois scenes so the audience can
quickly ascertain her true personality. The audience is, however, aware that baths and light bulbs
have a meaning for Blanche apart from their functional existence (Corrigan 575). Mary Ann
Corrigan writes that DuBois is far from perfect, and the audience can see just that in her drinking
of alcohol and her slight comments towards her sister and brother in law (575). Yet, the whole
time she is hiding behind her mask, she tells everyone she only has a drink once in a while, and
she needs her baths to relax.
The audience cannot mistake that Dubois does know who she really is, and what her situation
holds for her. For this reason, she chooses to hide behind her mask of a southern belle, with her old
dresses, rituals, and paper shaded light bulbs (Vogel 505).
Dan Vogel states in his book The Three Masks of American Tragedy,
She is beyond the capability of even attempting to control and manipulate the world about her.
Obviously she recognizes truth, and the truth is that her life is compounded

Hyundai Market Strategy
Introduction Hyundai automotive distributors were established in 1967. The company has
displayed a high level of commitment to southern Africa s future from both an economic and
political point of view. There are many different types of market entry strategies that may be
implemented by a foreign firm in an emerging country. Amongst the most popular are: 1. Portfolio
Investment; 2. Export 3. Franchising 4. Licensing 5. Shared Equity/ Joint Venture The initial
market entry strategy implemented by Hyundai Korea was a joint venture. However, after
liquidation (1999), the new entry strategy for re establishment was franchising. The aim of this

For example, a joint venture can have a limited life span and only cover part of what you do,
thus limiting both your commitment and the business exposure. In the era of diversification and
consolidation, JV s offer a creative way for companies to exit from non core businesses.
Companies can gradually separate a business from the rest of the organisation, and eventually, sell
it to the other parent company. Roughly 80% of all joint ventures end in a sale by one partner to
the other. The Disadvantages of Joint Ventures It takes time and effort to build the right
relationship and partnering with another business can be challenging. Problems are likely to arise
if: The objectives of the venture are not 100 per cent clear and communicated to everyone involved.
There is an imbalance in levels of expertise, investment or assets brought into the venture by the
different partners. Different cultures and management styles result in poor integration and co
operation. The partners don t provide enough leadership and support in the early stages. Success in
a joint venture depends on thorough research and analysis of the objectives. From the above
discussion as well as the list of advantages and disadvantages associated with joint ventures it can
be seen that Hyundai should

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Building System
1.0 Introduction
Human beings have long been using the activity of building construction. Take the Arabian region
for example, the pyramids in Egypt are one of the most shocking and astonishing wonders in the
world. Pyramids were built using a well organized building system which nobody still seems to
know, yet everyone recognizes and admits that it is so well built that it lasted for over 2000 years.
Humans for ages have been building shelters and buildings using different types of building
systems. For centuries, the traditional building system has been used for almost all types of
buildings. The mechanized building system was later introduced and adopted in many developing
countries. Nowadays, countries are tending to lean into a far more developed system due to the
many advantages it offers; that building system is the industrialized building system. But what
exactly differentiates the industrialized building system from the other two systems and what
advantages does it offer? This paper will briefly introduce the traditional and mechanized building
systems to compare them later with the industrialized building construction system and show the
reasoning behind countries adapting this system.
1.1 General terms in building systems
To introduce the mentioned systems, a brief definition of a building system is needed. Merritt and
Ricketts (2000) defined a building as an assemblage that is firmly attached to the ground and that
provides total or nearly total shelter for machines, processing equipment, performance of human
activities, storage of human possessions, or any combination of these. Merritt and Ricketts (2000)
expressed building design as the process of providing the information required for the construction
of a building that meets the owner s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Areas Of Good Teamwork
Good teamwork is essential in my setting but it needs a lot of conscious effort in order for the
team to work at its best. Working in a team rather than just an individual has the potential to bring
together all the skills experiences and disciplines required to support the service users. There are 11
main building areas:
1) CLEAR OBJECTIVES these are mutually agreed aims and objectives.
2) BALANCED ROLES these have a good balance of skills, abilities and aspirations.
3) EFFECTIVE PROGRESS these are good processes for making, communicating and reviewing
decisions.
4) APPROPRIATE LEADERSHIPthe team will have trust and feel comfortable in how things are
being led.
5) GOOD COMMUNICATIONmeetings are productive and there is effective communication
throughout the organisation.
6) SUPPORT AND TRUST help by listening, evaluating and offering ideas as well as encouraging
experimentation and giving support.
7) OPENNESS AND CONFLICT people are open and express themselves honestly. They can work
through difficult situations and conflict.
8) MUTUAL CO OPERATION a willingness to be involved and committed. there is an acceptance
of each others strengths and weaknesses.
9) INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT mistakes are faced openly and seen as a learning cue.

Philadelphia Civic Flag Research Paper
The azure blue and golden yellow banner that heralds City Hall visitors often goes unnoticed. Yet,
for over a century, the Philadelphia Civic Flag has been dutifully at work representing the
municipality.
At the center of the Philadelphia Civic Flag are two women Peace, on the left, is holding a scroll,
the other, Plenty, is on the right with a basket of fruit their feet wrapped in a ribbon reading
Philadelphia Maneto, or, as translated, Let Brotherly Love Continue. The city s motto comes
from the New Testament Hebrews 13:1 and are said to have been uttered by the last of the Penn
s visiting Philadelphia in the 19th century. The seal s blue and gold are the city s colors. Blue
the color of the heavens, stands for aspiration. In the 1789 version of the seal, Peace holds a
scroll containing William Penn s plan for the city, Plenty a cornucopia overflowing with produce.
Today, the familiar emblem is imprinted in the center of the flag also dons the Philadelphia

Preschoolers Rationale Essay
Rationale: According to New York State Prekindergarten Foundation for the Common Core,
preschoolers should demonstrate understanding of typically occurring verbs and adjectives in
relation with their opposites (e.g. up, down, in, out).
Procedures: Opposites were addressed through several storybook readings, direct teaching, matching
activity, looking at picture cards, acting out opposites and in spontaneous conversations during free
choice and on the playground.
Present Status: For both sessions, WL did not want to participate in the activity. During first
session, WL only repeated opposites on 2/3 opportunities with modeling. The expectation was

Rationale: According to the Shipley and McAfee (1998) and Chart of Normal Development:
Infancy to Six Years of Age, children between the ages of 3 years to 4 years should consistently be
using regular plurals (e.g. balls, dolls, houses).
Procedures: This goal was addressed through storybook readings, direct teaching with pictures and
objects, paper and glue activities, looking at singular and plural picture cards, and in spontaneous
conversations during free choice and on the playground.
Present Status: The first time the goal was targeted, WL did not participate in the activity. WL sat
through the second session, with the help of his aide, and achieved 3/3 opportunities with visual
cues and modeling. In the first session, TG repeated plurals on 7/11 opportunities and produced
plurals on 4/11 opportunities. The second session, TG repeated plurals 2/4 opportunities and
produced plurals on 2 opportunities with visual cues. For the first session, JA repeated plurals on 8

The Role Of Emergency Department Physiotherapists And The...
History
Physiotherapists were first able to serve as primary contact providers in Australia in 1976 with
the lifting of the Australian Physiotherapy Association s ethical principle stating It is unethical for
a member to act in a professional capacity except on referral by a registered medical or dental
practitioner . [1, pg 217] Although the change met much debate, the United Kingdom followed suit
in 1978. [1] This legislation had yet to pass in all 50 American states, the District of Columbia, and
the US Virgin Islands until July 1, 2014. [2]
Primary contact physiotherapists first arrived in emergency departments in the United Kingdom,
with the role quickly expanding to Australia. [3, 4] The profession has continued to expand and
evolve to better service in Emergency Departments. [3, 5, 4] Many studies have been performed
regarding the roles of Emergency Department physiotherapists in both Australia and the United
Kingdom, the data of which will be reviewed. However, with the implementation running behind in
the United States, there are few studies pertaining to physiotherapists in American Emergency
Departments.
Definition
Physiotherapists in the ED are identified by many different titles both in the United Kingdom and
Australia. In the United Kingdom they may go by Emergency Department Physiotherapy
Practitioners (EDPPs) [6], Extended Scope Physiotherapist (ESP) [7], or A E Physiotherapy
Practitioners [8]. In Australia physiotherapists may hold the title of Emergency

Examples Of Scapegoat
The scapegoat was first seen in the 16th chapter of Leviticus, a book in the Bible. In this chapter,
God told two leaders of Israel, Moses and Aaron, to make a sacrificial offering to rid the people
of their sins. In obedience to God s command, Moses and Aaron took two goats needed to
perform the ritual. The first goat, which was to be sacrificed as a sin offering, was killed and its
blood was sprinkled on the Ark of the Covenant. The second goat was to be cursed with the sins
of every Israelite, then released into uninhabited wilderness. This practice was to be performed
every year as propitiation of Israel s collective sins. Observing past history, one can see that
scapegoating was utilized to rather extensive measures. As an example, German... Show more

According to renowned psychologist RenГ© Girard, human nature revolves around mimicry of
others. This imitation allows large groups of people to be united in pursuit of certain goals. Such
unity is combatted when there are conflicting interests among groups. More often than not, the
opinion of the largest party would overrule any minority, pressuring every individual to agree
with the masses. However, strife and conflict remain within the collective hearts of groups. In
order for these conflicting feelings to be released, a scapegoat must be chosen and burdened with
the blame for dissension. Scapegoating, as a function, falls under psychological projection an
involuntary defense mechanism that may displace one s source negative emotions and assign it to
another. To blame an individual for an action that they did not commit just to be rid of guilt or
anger is displacing. The idea of psychological displacing was first coined by Sigmund Freud, a
defense mechanism. According to the Father of Psychoanalysis , displacement is blaming others
for your problems. Whether or not this practice is ethical has been a question lying in the
undercurrent of world wide arguments since the beginning of time. Psychologists and sociologists
have labeled scapegoating as a natural response and a part of human nature. However, many have
argued that scapegoating is personally degrading and keeps the human race from advancing into a

Edward R. Murrow s Reporting Style in Modern America
Edward R. Murrow s reporting style, established in both radio and television, has had a profound
and lasting effect on broadcast journalism and the newscast format. In addition to developments
like the news round up, one major innovation of Murrow s continues to play a crucial role in news

Client Centered Therapy And Rogerian Psychotherapy
Introduction
Person center therapy has many names such as client centered therapy, person centered
counseling and Rogerian psychotherapy. The theory I chose to write about is called person
centered theory. In this paper I will talk about the strength and weakness of this type of therapy.
How is it used in today s society and how it was used in the past. I will also talk about the developer
of Person center therapy.
Carol Roger
Carol Roger, the father of the humanistic movement in psychotherapy. The theme in this therapy is
a nonjudgmental listening and acceptance of the client, the scientific term would be unconditional
positive regard. Roger was born on January 8th 1902 in Oak Park Illinois. He grew up in a very
strict and religious family. As a young boy Carl Rogerswas shy and very studious. He first attended
University of Wisconsin as an agricultural science major. Later on ended up transferring to Union
Theological Seminary in Chicago. In 1942 Rogers became one of the first therapist to record
transcribe therapy sessions precise, a practice that is now commonly done. Rogers s client centered
therapy is among the most prominent and widely used techniques in today s society. In 1987
Rogers was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize because of his humanistic causes. (McLeod, 2015)

It was surprising that Axis Forces did not observe the mass movement of troops and Naval

Why Is Witchcraft Important
WITCHCRAFT The first thing you need to learn about witchcraft is that it s not inherently evil.
Many modern Neopagans and Wiccans strongly resemble with this concept, and profess codes that
prevent them from performing magic on a person without their request. It is extremely powerful,
extremely dangerous, and often permanent. The concept of a magicworker influencing another

Analysis Of The Movie Anacostia Flats By John Dos Passos
One might say that the Great Depression was a time of despair and feeling vulnerable from those
who lived through it. However, writings have shown that some Americans during this era did not
give up and had an optimistic view as opposed to a pessimistic view. In Anacostia Flats by John
Dos Passos, it shows that the ex service men during the Great Depressionhad a sense of
determination for getting their bonus. The film 42nd Street demonstrated the tenacious spirit of
Americans who worked on a play during The Great Depression. Meridel Le Seur s Women in the
Breadlines depicted the reality of struggling without employment but having the will to keep trying.

The theme for 42nd Street could be keep on keeping on as practice does make perfect. It was a
time for when many gave it their all and they never gave up on executing the play. Every single
person was in sync with the music and routines once the performance rolled around. While
watching the film, one would be admired by how determined the people were. Peggy Sawyer,
one of the main characters, had to brave her way as the new lead (while Dorothy the main lead
became injured) as she did not want to let any of her coworkers down. Luckily, she knew every
dance move and line to portray her new part. Otherwise, production would have stopped if there
was no lead. Several people would lose their jobs and everything would have been all for nothing.
Thus, the play became a success after Peggy braved her way as the new lead. Peggy depicted a
person from the Great Depression as having a sense of enthusiasm. America s working people
did not resign to the quarrels of money being an issue. Characters like Peggy showed grace and
talent with no sense of sadness. Her exuberance helped her shine as she performed. During hard
times production of plays were still being made as all the staff of 42nd Street went to work.
Julian Marsh also had a rough time being ill while directing the play. He had money issues as well
but continued to produce the play while in poor health. Characters like Julian portrayed the hard
working class of Americans during the Great Depression who struggled. His

A Experiment On Actin And Myosin
Abstract
Research was conducted on Actin and Myosin protein; chains of amino acid residue responsible for
muscle contraction in muscle cells. Through phosphorylation, which causes changes in enzyme
activity as result of an alteration in protein conformation, the Myosin Light Chain ВЅ stimulates and
subsequently contracts the smooth muscle. Concentrations of the protein were determined and
analyzed among Catfish, Atlantic Salmon, Sockeye Salmon, Shrimp, Red Tuna, Red Snapper,
Tilapia, and Wild Cod. Electrophoresis provided a method of visualization of the samples, where
Immunodection was then used to identify Actin/Myosin Light Chain ВЅ proteins. Wild Cod
expressed the most Myosin LC ВЅ protein, whereas Shrimp expressed the least. Furthermore, both
Wild Cod and Shrimp differed considerably in comparison to the determined volume intensity of the
other seafood samples, which were closer in expression levels with one another. Animal behavior
and habitat are factors that have overtime resulted in the overall amount and subsequent use of
muscle. Thus analyzing the variance in Actin/Myosin ВЅ light chain protein expression serves as a
tool in understanding adaptation and evolution among species.
Introduction Actin and Myosin proteins serve the primary role of producing muscle contraction.
Myosin molecules will create pressure in the skeletal muscle, where ATP hydrolysis causes Myosin
to bind to Actin. A conformational change of the molecule then result in Myosin being

The horns of a bull appear as a reoccurring theme in Minoan cultic practices and images. The term
horns of consecration was an expression given to these symbols by Sir Arthur Evans to describe
the ever present images of horns in Minoan sanctuaries, architecture, and art. Religion played a
major role in Minoan society with animal sacrifices, music, dance and prayer occurring in caves,
on mountain peaks, and in local villas. A central part of the festivals was the sacrificing of a bull
to signify the connection of man to nature. Peak sanctuaries first give rise to the image of horns,

Minoan horns. Along with this discovery, Hazzidakis also paralleled the shape of the horns to
the Egyptian symbol of the horizon. Additionally, Hazzidakis references the seal stone found at

over the horns of consecration with a winged goat and a daemon on his sides which can be seen
in figure 3. Hazzidakis claims the lack of a rendering of a sun deity in Minoan art because the
deity may be so common that a depiction was unnecessary for the Minoans. Instead, the image of
the horns signified the deity and therefore no images of a sun deity were ever created. Yet,
Hazzidakis was not the only one to theorize the correlation between the Egyptian symbol and the
Minoan horns of consecration. Watrous and MacGillivary also made similar interpretations of the
evidence, but none of these ideas had any effect on scholarly articles until recently (Banou 2008

What Is The Cheesecake Factory Code Of Conduct
The Cheesecake Factory

December 15, 2013
I choose The Cheesecake Factory and its code of conduct. A code of conduct is a set of rules
outlining the responsibilities of or proper practices for an individual, party or organization. The
code of conduct is expectations from the staff and expectations from the company to staff. The code
of conduct is basically simple and easy to understand.
Our Company encourages a relationship of trust, loyalty, honesty, and responsibilityamong staff
members at all levels. We believe that all staff members deserve to be treated with dignity and
respect. We are committed to celebrating the diversity of our workforce and our guests, and

A conflict of interest often arises when an individual s personal interests conflict with those of the
Company.
Your responsibility in upholding our Code of Ethics does not end with your separation of
employment. Unless compelled to do so by applicable law, former staff members of the Company
may not disparage the Company or its officers during or after employment in an attempt to discredit
the Company, its assets, and/or future growth.
Every Company staff member has a responsibility to help enforce this Code of Ethics.
Additionally, staff members are expected to ensure that all of our suppliers and contractors are
aware of, understand and adhere to these standards, as well. If you have a question concerning a
potential or possibly existing conflict of interest involving you, another staff member, or any
supplier, contractor, or customer, or you otherwise have a question regarding this Code, ask your
supervisor or the SVP of Human Resources. If you observe a staff member, supplier, or
contractor who has taken, or is planning to take, an action which could be a violation of our Code
of Ethics and/or Company policy, or you believe that you may have taken any action, intentionally
or otherwise, in violation of this Code, you have the obligation to promptly report the action to
your supervisor or a Vice President responsible for your restaurant or department.

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Chipotle
Chipotle ventured into a new territory when it was created, as it had an innovative vision for fast
casual restaurants. By using fresh and quality ingredients, Chipotle raised the bar in their segment.
The service line where customers could see their order being prepared enhanced the experience of
Chipotle. Consumers who were used to eating at fast casual restaurants where the food was frozen
and made out of sight were able to savor the uniqueness of Chipotle. These differences helped
Chipotle become successful. However, as competitors copy the traits that make Chipotle unique,
Chipotle must adapt and overcome in order to remain a profitable company. Chipotle saw an
opportunity in the fast casual restaurant industry and launched an innovative concept. It believes
that fresh and quality ingredients are key and that customers are willing to pay more for such
ingredients. To ensure such ingredients, Chipotle uses a large amount of organic food in their
restaurants. This not only creates fresher and healthier food options for consumers, but also assists
local farms that supply the organic food. Not only does Chipotle use organic food, but it uses
produce that is in season. This reduces the costs of transporting produce and ensures that the
ingredients are fresh. While competitors attempt to replicate the menu, style, and flavors of
Chipotle, they do not have the resources to use organic ingredients as efficiently as Chipotle does.

Hercules of the Skies Essay
There were many important people, aircraft, and developments, which greatly contributed to
aviation development, which ultimately impacted the World. Out of many aviation developments,
I will write about an aircraft I take pleasure in seeing and hearing, the C 130 Hercules. I consider
this aircraft has made a significant impact in the aviation industry, most in the dependability of the
airframe and its illustrious design. Today, this aircraft is used for many organizations such as
Military Ops, firefighting, and search and rescue. The military is the primary user of this aircraft,
for it uses it for many tactical operations. But what makes this aircraft so grand? The ability to land
on short runways and the ability to fly slow with load,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is modernized with computer systems instead of steam gauges. What I think makes the C 130 in
general momentous, is the number of international countries that are using this airframe. Over 60
countries are using this aircraft and it is no surprise since it has been in operation since the 50 s! (
Air Force Technology (2011, May 5)). A big contribution to this outstanding airframe has to be
given to the developers, the company Lockheed or Lockheed Martin. An astonishing fact is that the
same company has made this aircraft for over 50 years; this just shows that Lockheed knows how
to design and manufacture lasting aircraft to persevere with modern technology. I would say that
the years this aircraft has been in service is enough in itself to say how it impacted the aviation
industry, giving it new means of how to create lasting aircraft for the high demand for its operations.
A few decades ago, the military needed an upgrade on its cargo and troop carrying capabilities.
In the 1950 s, the less modern World War II cargo aircraft were the C 190, C 47, and C 46 s.
These did not meet the requirements for a continuously modernizing U.S. Military. (Simpson, M.
(2011, October 19)). Therefore, in 1951, the U.S. Air Force put out a General Operating
Requirement for a new airframe that will meet specifications in the category s of how many
passengers or paratroopers it will hold, as well as size

Feminist Reflection
On Tuesday August 29, 2017 it was my first day of WMST 250. I was nervous and had so many
thoughts and questions running through my mind. I hope my professor is nice, She didn t have
any reviews on ratemyprofessor.com, (Yes...I did look you up on there! LOL!) and I wonder what
the class material will be? The questions we started off with were about feminism. Before our first
class we were assigned to watch We Should All Be Feminists TED Talk by Chimamanda Ngozi
Adichie. Our first activity was ordering images from least to most feminism. Before I began this
activity I googled the definition of feminism because truthfully I was not familiar with feminism
or feminist. Also one of our first readings was Feminist Politics: Where We Stand by Bell Hooks.
We had several assignments throughout the semester. We had Reading Responses, Museum Visit
Writing Assignment, Presentation in Pairs, Art Activist Intervention, and Final Learning
Analysis. The reading responses allowed students to ask questions and keep the reader engaged
while reading. Personally, if I did not have to create questions from the readings I would not
have been engaged in the reading or read as carefully as I did. The Museum Visit Writing
Assignment allowed students to go outside of their comfort zone because we went to museums
which many of us probably would not have done in our free time. Cara wanted us to feel like we
belonged at museums and her goal was accomplished on my end. Before I went on my museum

How I Use A Research Paper Essay
There are few things in this world that I hate more than having to create a research paper. I
usually don t get to choose the topic, I have to spend lots of time in the library, and I usually wait
until the last minute, so the whole ordeal is worse than it should have been. Well, there are a few
things I taught myself to do to keep my researchpapers flowing and much easier to organize and
compile. These are the ideas that I use every single time for any type of sourced writing, including
writing articles for Associated Content.
Create a notes file: This is the ultimate tool for my writing. When I have found a source for my
paper I take it with me to the computer. While I m reading the portion of this book, or
encyclopedia, or Internet article, I have a writing program open and I write down paragraphs and
bullet points of the article in my own words, highlighting key concepts. This is separated by
sources so when I m writing I can quickly put down sources, and after I use an article I create my
insert for my bibliography. If you keep up with your bibliography notes, when it comes to make
your works cited page, you re already done!
Create headings for your notes: Give your notes from your notes file and copy and paste them
into categories. Give each category a heading as to the general idea that groups them together. For
example, on my paper in how the Nazi party controlled the people of Germany, I made a group
called Fear Factor. I put all my notes regarding fear in

Natural Hazards In California
Natural hazards are different natural phenomena that disrupt the usual live of a population, destroy
and demolish objects of material value. They often have a negative effect on nature, and can happen
anywhere in the world. Many different types of natural hazards exist; for example, earth quakes,
landslides, floods, snow drifts, hurricanes, droughts, volcano eruptions, storms, etc. Natural hazards
can happen independently or can be related to each other. If there is an earthquake, it can lead to a
tsunami or massive fires. Some of them happen as a result of mankind s doings; construction work,
depending on the location, can cause snow drifts, or massive fires.

Analysis Of New Orleans After The Deluge
The Juxtaposition Graphic novels have the ability to portray multiple perspectives and can cleverly
represent as many groups an author believes is needed. What becomes the decision of the author is
which perspective deems more important or more fascinating. Depending on which the author
decides to portray, there tends to be different effects on the readers. Neufeld uses Scott s Mccloud s
ideas from Understanding Comics, such as adding detail to a character to differentiate them from
the reader in order to induce certain emotions. The perspectivetaken from the primary source may
receive more empathy or distaste depending on who the author chooses to represent. Through
detailing certain character, this focus is made clear to be on the victims. However, graphic novels
are sometimes subject to biases and misinterpretations, which can belittle the authenticity of the
accounts being given. Different accounts of the events hold different biases. They could either
represent those who have undergone the specific event or that of someone who has speculated from
the outside. In A.D. New Orleans after the Deluge, Josh Neufeld represents a perspective not
commonly exemplified, as he assigns different perspectives to his character and juxtaposes them
using the dialogue from their interactions. A different view of the story is told, and reasons to the
questionable, or unethical actions of the victims are brought into focus and analyzed through a
perspective that sides with the victims.

Analysis Of Behind The Beautiful Forevers
Over the course of this semester our Sociology class was required to read Behind the Beautiful
Forever s. Throughout the novel the characters stories are singled out in order for readers to have a
better understanding of the challenges they faced. The novel begins in Mumbai in the slums of
Annawadi where the main characters are introduced. The novel then goes into detail about the
struggles these people are going through because of the povertythey live in. It is heartbreaking to
read because their situations only seem to get worse. The people of Annawadi are affected
negatively by the local and global changes. Although it seems all hope is lost it does not stop them
from dreaming big and working hard. With positive attitudes and having the want to change
anything is possible, and the people of Annawadi can change their situations. Behind the Beautiful
Forever s is a landmark novel of people working for a better life when all odds are against them.
Research Paper in Sociology:

The novel begins in the Mumbai slums where it is every man for themselves. People live on top of
one another near an international airport and luxury hotels. The living conditions are harsh, and
people must be thrifty scavengers in order to survive and overcome the challenges. It is difficult
because it seems everyone is taking advantage of the slum residence and taking away opportunities
for them to better themselves. One of the main characters is Abdul

In 2013, a magnet recognized hospital, Baptist Health Lexington, reduced CAUTI rates in ICU
patients by 60% (Roser, Piercy Altpeter, 2014). The study included six interventions that were
followed by the staff in the effort to reduce CAUTI. The six interventions included: communication
of CAUTI data to interdisciplinary teams, a nurse driven, physician approved protocol, problem
analysis using Lean principles, daily unit based surveillance rounds, silver alloy urinary catheters,
and an antimicrobial bundle comprised of two cleansing products for patients with an indwelling
urinary catheter (Roser, Piercy Altpeter, 2014). The nurse physician protocol allowed for nurses to
assess whether the catheter was still necessary and if found not to be, the nurse could discontinue
it. This resulted in a 58% decrease in the number of catheters used (Roser, Piercy Altpeter, 2014).
An education session was implemented by nurses using principles from the Lean system that
checked the capability of nurses to understand just how dangerous CAUTI can be. It was found that
no single intervention alone could reduce the occurrence of CAUTI development. Nurses must
integrate several interventions to have an effective result at lowering the rates. However, this
particular study found that after the use of the antimicrobial bundle, rates of CAUTI did decline.

Renewable Sources Of Fossil Fuels
Abstract Fossil fuels are non renewable sources of energy that were form billions of years ago. The
three different types of fossil fuels in the world include: oil, coal and natural gas. Although each
of the three types of fossil fuels are extracted differently they are all processed and used as the
world s primary sources of energy. Being the world s primary sources of energy, fossil fuel
experience advantages as well as disadvantages as an energy source. The use of fossil fuels, as an
energy source, impact the environment as well as social, economic and political aspects of the
world.
Fossil Fuels; Beginning of Existence The existence of fossil fuels stem from the Carboniferous
Period in time (U.S. Department of Energy, Fossil Energy). According to an article from Energy
Source the creation of fossil fuels came about when prehistoric plants and animals died and then
buried under the Earth for millions of years (Fossil). The formation of the different types of
fossil fuels depend on a few factors such as: what combination of organic matter was present,
how long it was buried and what temperature and pressure conditions existed as time passed.
(Fossil). Fossil fuels are considered a non renewable source of energy because once every ounce
of this particular energy is gone, more cannot be produced. According to an article from Science
Learn, Non renewable energy resources cannot be replaced once they are used up, they will not be
restored (or not for millions of

Hurricanes are a yearly event, and they can create deadly destruction. If you live near the coast
or in an area prone to hurricanes, it is important to be wary of how to prepare for one of these
storms to ensure that you are protected. Preparing for a hurricane can be accomplished in these
steps. To prepare for an upcoming hurricane, one needs to first gather essential materials. During
a hurricane, lighting, strong winds, and flash floods may occur, so it is important for you to
stay indoors and off of roads. Blackouts may also occur, so make certain you are prepared
beforehand and gather nonperishable food items, bottles of water, flashlights, and plenty of

Hurricanes can have detrimental effects to your house, so be certain you board up the windows
on the outside to keep them from shattering. To do this, use thick plywood to cover up the
windows and the areas around them using nails or screws to secure the wood. After this, walk
around your yard and gather up anything valuable that might be swept away by strong winds.
Also you need to be certain that nothing that can be damaged or can easily float away is left
outside. This includes children s toys, chairs, and tools. If not safely sealed away, these objects
could be thrown against your house, causing damage such as shattered windows and broken
panels. Moreover, you also may wish to invest in sandbags to protect your home from flood
waters. Watch the local news to figure out where sandbags are being distributed. IT can also be a
wise move to move anything valuable off the floor and on top of cabinets incase rising floodwaters

Effects Of Fossil Fuels
Everyday in U.S., immense amount of fossil fuel is burned. Fossil fuels are fuel formed by
natural processes, such as decomposition of buried dead organisms. Fossil fuel release carbon
dioxide when they are burned which adds to the greenhouse effect and increases global warming.
The way we can help the environment and reduce the amount of carbon dioxideis by replaying fossil
fuels with solar and wind sources for electric power generations in the U.S. We burn fossil fuel
everyday by driving cars. EIA estimates that U.S. motor gasoline and diesel fuel consumption
for transportation in 2016 resulted in the emission of about 1,102 million metric tons of carbon
dioxide and 437 million metric tons of CO2, respectively, for a total of 1,540 million metric tons
of CO2. Tesla is one of the only company s that was able to make a full electric car. Even thought
the prices for the cars is very expensive, the car only runs on a mere battery. If we are able to
mass produce more batteries thats much more affordable, we can replace large amount of cars
today with electric powered cars and reduce the amount of fossil fuel that is burned. Many people
buy solar panels for their houses so they can use that energy. Solar panels help get energy for your
house and use that energy for the lights or even to produce heat for your house. You can add
immense amounts of insulation when building a new house even if cost a little bit more, it will
lower the cost for heating and air conditioning

Governors are hardworking individuals with unique jobs, just like our president, governors are
elected by the people every four years and can only serve for a total of two terms. Although elected
in similar ways as the president, being elected governor is different. The difference between

Irony in Jonathan Swift s A Modest Proposal
Rhetorical strategies are techniques, which are used to make one s writings more effective. The
choice of rhetoric strategy depends on the type of subject being discussed. The effectiveness of
appropriate strategy is directly related to the mood, which is to be created and maintained. For
example if someone is criticizing the government, the tome is usually kept serious and Irony and
satireare widely used in such writings. On the other hand while describing the recent developments
in genetic engineering, the tone would be objective and humor or satire would be ineffective here.
Jonathan Swift was famous for his sarcastic remarks on the government of his days and his works

But I am not in the least pain upon that matter, because it is very well known that they are every
day dying and rotting by cold and famine, and filth and vermin, as fast as can be reasonably
expected.
Swift was not the only one who applied the technique of irony to convey his message more
effectively, there were several other people who from time to time have made use of satire with
irony to comment on or oppose to certain views and ideas. Martin Luther King Jr. was the
champion of human rights who spoke extensively for the rights of African Americans. He became
an icon for the black community because of his highly emotional speeches and his writings, which
focused on the subject of equal rights for black men and women in the United States.
His Letters from the Birmingham jail are valued for their emotional content and their comments
on his own activities. These letters cannot exactly be termed satirical or ironical in tone. In fact
compared to Swift s works, King s letters would probably appear polite. But there are certain
portions where he has used irony very effectively for example in his response to clergymen who
had criticized King s activities, he said in his letter, While confined here in the Birmingham city
jail, I came across your recent statement calling my present activities unwise and untimely. Seldom

Daughterless Carp Research Paper
THANH NGUYEN
Stage 1 BIOLOGY
Human Awareness Essay
Carp are non native fish found in most Australian waterways. This species of fish has had
significant negative impacts on the natural freshwater ecosystems. A current solution developed for
the control of carp is known as daughterless carp . Discuss the impact carp have had on freshwater
ecosystems and explain the control method known as daughterless carp .
An ecosystem is a community of living organisms coinciding with the nonliving components of a
specific environment. One example includes the freshwater ecosystem contributing to Earth s
aquatic ecosystems. They include lakes and ponds, rivers, streams, springs and wetlands consisting
of low salt concentrations (University of California ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One single female carp can produce up to 1.5 million eggs per year (PestSmart, 2012). So unlike
other methods, the use of daughterless carp technology will have a significant effect.
Daughterless carp technology will produce a decline in female carp numbers, hence causing an
overall decrease in the entire carp population. With the gradual decline in female carp, less
offspring will be produced and thus more male carp will be present within the population. It is
evident that daughterless carp technology will gradually cause a decrease in the population. The
newly invented gene is expected to move into the Murray Darling system s carp population,
leaning towards an all male sex ratio (O Neill, 2003). According to O Neill (2003), despite the
technology taking up to 50 years to reduce carp numbers, this will prove to be effective. This
technology will enable the carp population to decrease

Symbolism Of The Scarlet Letter
The Scarlet Letter:
Symbolism of the Scarlet A Symbolism has many different meanings, and the Scarlet A in The
Scarlet Letter has many different meanings as well. Hester Prynne is the main character who is
forced to wear the scarlet letter as remembrance for the crime and the sin that she has committed.
This letter completely ruined her reputation in her community. How could a small piece of fabric
do so much harm? This letter was a representation of something much greater than the letter A .
This letter was originally made to stand for adulteress, as physical reminder of her sins. The
vibrant scarlet red is meant to shame Hester, to make her feel sorry for her mistakes. Most
importantly it was a symbol for change and an emblem of identity. In short, the scarlet letter meant
much more than a letter of shame, it was simply a piece of fabric with meaning that could easily
change.
The first representation of the A was adulteress. When Hester Prynneslept with Reverend
Dimmesdale, as a married woman, she became pregnant. The community thought her a widow, and
knew that she could not be pregnant, unless she had committed adultery. The community decided
on a punishment for her crimes, Hester was forced to wear the scarlet A at all times as a reminder
of the sin she had committed before God. In the puritan era sin was utterly unacceptable, and Hester
had committed adultery, a sin punishable by death itself. This brings us to the next symbolic
evidence of the letter.

Different wavelengths of light affect on photosynthesis...
Background Information:
The leaves of a plant are the main photosynthetic organs and are involved in gas exchange and
water transportation throughout a plant (Evans et al, 17). A leaf typically consists of an upper
and lower epidermis, the mesophyll cells, veins, guard cells and stomata. The mesophyll cells
contains spongey cells which have large gaps between each cell to allow oxygen and carbon
dioxide circulation. The mesophyll cells contain palisade cells, which are located beneath the upper
epidermis. The palisade cells contain many chloroplasts, which are green organelles. Located in the
internal layers of chloroplasts is the pigment chlorophyll which is involved in trapping the light
energy in photosynthesis (Evans et al, 17). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Short wavelengths = high frequency = more energy
Long wavelength = low frequency = less energy
Plants can absorb a number of different length light waves, although not all of them are equal in
power or energy which influences a plants growth. Approximately 80% of light that reaches a leaf
is absorbed and depending on its wavelength, may excite chlorophyll pigments (reference text
book). Plants absorb both red and purple light waves, however because purple wavelengths are
shorter, they contain more energy. The green pigment involved in photosynthesis is chlorophyll.
Chlorophyll is green in appearance because it absorbs red and blue light, making these colours
unable to be seen. It is the reflection of the green light that reaches out eyes, giving chlorophyll a
green colour. This green light that can be seen cannot be used by the plant for photosynthesis.
Therefore, theoretically growth should be inhibited in the plants only exposed to green light.
There are two main types of chlorophyll, chlorophyll a which absorbs wavelengths of 430nm (blue)
and 662 (red) and is the main photosynthetic pigment, and chlorophyll b, which doesn t directly
participate in the photosynthetic process, but is capable of donating its energy to chlorophyll a

  • 2. A Comparison of the Masks In Cold Blood, Streetcar Named... Peeking Behind the Masks In Cold Blood, Streetcar Named Desire, and Fences In life, we all attempt to project some kind of personality to others. We have a mask we wear in different situations, but when times get tough, we eventually discard our masks and become our true selves. We don t live behind our masks until the tragic end, like the characters of In Cold Blood by Truman Capote, Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams, and Fences by August Wilson. The three characters, Perry Smith, Blanche DuBois, and Troy Maxson wore masks to their bitter endings, always trying to fool everyone else. When times got tough, they had to face themselves, and they could not stand the sight. The characters of Blanche ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Harris states that DuBois masks her life. She doesn t want to face what she really is. The worst horror for her in her mind is for anyone else to see her true self. The audience does see it almost right away, and they know from the first representation of DuBois that they are in for something else. Williams sets up DuBois scenes so the audience can quickly ascertain her true personality. The audience is, however, aware that baths and light bulbs have a meaning for Blanche apart from their functional existence (Corrigan 575). Mary Ann Corrigan writes that DuBois is far from perfect, and the audience can see just that in her drinking of alcohol and her slight comments towards her sister and brother in law (575). Yet, the whole time she is hiding behind her mask, she tells everyone she only has a drink once in a while, and she needs her baths to relax. The audience cannot mistake that Dubois does know who she really is, and what her situation holds for her. For this reason, she chooses to hide behind her mask of a southern belle, with her old dresses, rituals, and paper shaded light bulbs (Vogel 505). Dan Vogel states in his book The Three Masks of American Tragedy, She is beyond the capability of even attempting to control and manipulate the world about her. Obviously she recognizes truth, and the truth is that her life is compounded ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Hyundai Market Strategy Introduction Hyundai automotive distributors were established in 1967. The company has displayed a high level of commitment to southern Africa s future from both an economic and political point of view. There are many different types of market entry strategies that may be implemented by a foreign firm in an emerging country. Amongst the most popular are: 1. Portfolio Investment; 2. Export 3. Franchising 4. Licensing 5. Shared Equity/ Joint Venture The initial market entry strategy implemented by Hyundai Korea was a joint venture. However, after liquidation (1999), the new entry strategy for re establishment was franchising. For example, a joint venture can have a limited life span and only cover part of what you do, thus limiting both your commitment and the business exposure. In the era of diversification and consolidation, JV s offer a creative way for companies to exit from non core businesses. Companies can gradually separate a business from the rest of the organisation, and eventually, sell it to the other parent company. Roughly 80% of all joint ventures end in a sale by one partner to the other. The Disadvantages of Joint Ventures It takes time and effort to build the right relationship and partnering with another business can be challenging. Problems are likely to arise if: The objectives of the venture are not 100 per cent clear and communicated to everyone involved. There is an imbalance in levels of expertise, investment or assets brought into the venture by the different partners. Different cultures and management styles result in poor integration and co operation. The partners don t provide enough leadership and support in the early stages. Success in a joint venture depends on thorough research and analysis of the objectives. From the above discussion as well as the list of advantages and disadvantages associated with joint ventures it can be seen that Hyundai should ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Building System 1.0 Introduction Human beings have long been using the activity of building construction. Take the Arabian region for example, the pyramids in Egypt are one of the most shocking and astonishing wonders in the world. Pyramids were built using a well organized building system which nobody still seems to know, yet everyone recognizes and admits that it is so well built that it lasted for over 2000 years. Humans for ages have been building shelters and buildings using different types of building systems. For centuries, the traditional building system has been used for almost all types of buildings. The mechanized building system was later introduced and adopted in many developing countries. Nowadays, countries are tending to lean into a far more developed system due to the many advantages it offers; that building system is the industrialized building system. But what exactly differentiates the industrialized building system from the other two systems and what advantages does it offer? This paper will briefly introduce the traditional and mechanized building systems to compare them later with the industrialized building construction system and show the reasoning behind countries adapting this system. 1.1 General terms in building systems To introduce the mentioned systems, a brief definition of a building system is needed. Merritt and Ricketts (2000) defined a building as an assemblage that is firmly attached to the ground and that provides total or nearly total shelter for machines, processing equipment, performance of human activities, storage of human possessions, or any combination of these. In this chapter, God told two leaders of Israel, Moses and Aaron, to make a sacrificial offering to rid the people of their sins. In obedience to God s command, Moses and Aaron took two goats needed to perform the ritual. The first goat, which was to be sacrificed as a sin offering, was killed and its blood was sprinkled on the Ark of the Covenant. The second goat was to be cursed with the sins of every Israelite, then released into uninhabited wilderness. This practice was to be performed every year as propitiation of Israel s collective sins. According to renowned psychologist RenГ© Girard, human nature revolves around mimicry of others. This imitation allows large groups of people to be united in pursuit of certain goals. Such unity is combatted when there are conflicting interests among groups. More often than not, the opinion of the largest party would overrule any minority, pressuring every individual to agree with the masses. However, strife and conflict remain within the collective hearts of groups. In order for these conflicting feelings to be released, a scapegoat must be chosen and burdened with the blame for dissension. Scapegoating, as a function, falls under psychological projection an involuntary defense mechanism that may displace one s source negative emotions and assign it to another. To blame an individual for an action that they did not commit just to be rid of guilt or anger is displacing. The idea of psychological displacing was first coined by Sigmund Freud, a defense mechanism. According to the Father of Psychoanalysis , displacement is blaming others for your problems. Whether or not this practice is ethical has been a question lying in the undercurrent of world wide arguments since the beginning of time. • 18. A Experiment On Actin And Myosin Abstract Research was conducted on Actin and Myosin protein; chains of amino acid residue responsible for muscle contraction in muscle cells. Through phosphorylation, which causes changes in enzyme activity as result of an alteration in protein conformation, the Myosin Light Chain ВЅ stimulates and subsequently contracts the smooth muscle. Concentrations of the protein were determined and analyzed among Catfish, Atlantic Salmon, Sockeye Salmon, Shrimp, Red Tuna, Red Snapper, Tilapia, and Wild Cod. Electrophoresis provided a method of visualization of the samples, where Immunodection was then used to identify Actin/Myosin Light Chain ВЅ proteins. Wild Cod expressed the most Myosin LC ВЅ protein, whereas Shrimp expressed the least. Furthermore, both Wild Cod and Shrimp differed considerably in comparison to the determined volume intensity of the other seafood samples, which were closer in expression levels with one another. Animal behavior and habitat are factors that have overtime resulted in the overall amount and subsequent use of muscle. Thus analyzing the variance in Actin/Myosin ВЅ light chain protein expression serves as a tool in understanding adaptation and evolution among species. The term horns of consecration was an expression given to these symbols by Sir Arthur Evans to describe the ever present images of horns in Minoan sanctuaries, architecture, and art. Religion played a major role in Minoan society with animal sacrifices, music, dance and prayer occurring in caves, on mountain peaks, and in local villas. A central part of the festivals was the sacrificing of a bull to signify the connection of man to nature. However, one theory claims the horns have no connection to the bull at all, but rather the horns are a derivative of the Egyptian symbol illustrating the horizon and mountains. In 1934, Joseph Hazzidakis published his research on the villas at Tylissos and his discovery of four different Minoan horns. Along with this discovery, Hazzidakis also paralleled the shape of the horns to the Egyptian symbol of the horizon. Additionally, Hazzidakis references the seal stone found at Chania, published by Evans, as depicting a divine image due to a male figure shown floating over the horns of consecration with a winged goat and a daemon on his sides which can be seen in figure 3. Hazzidakis claims the lack of a rendering of a sun deity in Minoan art because the deity may be so common that a depiction was unnecessary for the Minoans. Instead, the image of the horns signified the deity and therefore no images of a sun deity were ever created. Yet, Hazzidakis was not the only one to theorize the correlation between the Egyptian symbol and the Minoan horns of consecration. By using fresh and quality ingredients, Chipotle raised the bar in their segment. The service line where customers could see their order being prepared enhanced the experience of Chipotle. Consumers who were used to eating at fast casual restaurants where the food was frozen and made out of sight were able to savor the uniqueness of Chipotle. These differences helped Chipotle become successful. However, as competitors copy the traits that make Chipotle unique, Chipotle must adapt and overcome in order to remain a profitable company. Chipotle saw an opportunity in the fast casual restaurant industry and launched an innovative concept. A big contribution to this outstanding airframe has to be given to the developers, the company Lockheed or Lockheed Martin. An astonishing fact is that the same company has made this aircraft for over 50 years; this just shows that Lockheed knows how to design and manufacture lasting aircraft to persevere with modern technology. I would say that the years this aircraft has been in service is enough in itself to say how it impacted the aviation industry, giving it new means of how to create lasting aircraft for the high demand for its operations. A few decades ago, the military needed an upgrade on its cargo and troop carrying capabilities. In the 1950 s, the less modern World War II cargo aircraft were the C 190, C 47, and C 46 s. I hope my professor is nice, She didn t have any reviews on ratemyprofessor.com, (Yes...I did look you up on there! LOL!) and I wonder what the class material will be? The questions we started off with were about feminism. Before our first class we were assigned to watch We Should All Be Feminists TED Talk by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Our first activity was ordering images from least to most feminism. Before I began this activity I googled the definition of feminism because truthfully I was not familiar with feminism or feminist. Also one of our first readings was Feminist Politics: Where We Stand by Bell Hooks. We had several assignments throughout the semester. We had Reading Responses, Museum Visit Writing Assignment, Presentation in Pairs, Art Activist Intervention, and Final Learning Analysis. The reading responses allowed students to ask questions and keep the reader engaged while reading. With a lack of communication with the American colonies, a sense of salutary neglect , a rift began to form between mother and child. Trust in each other was beginning to wane. This rift soon caused a series of chain reactions. With the British enforcing laws that seriously hindered American expansion and trade. Great Britain having losing their trust in the colonist, they did not respect any American leadership and or opinions. Both sides were both to blame for a war that followed their poor decisions and reactions. Moreover, with a lack of communication between Great Britain... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 26. How I Use A Research Paper Essay There are few things in this world that I hate more than having to create a research paper. I usually don t get to choose the topic, I have to spend lots of time in the library, and I usually wait until the last minute, so the whole ordeal is worse than it should have been. Well, there are a few things I taught myself to do to keep my researchpapers flowing and much easier to organize and compile. These are the ideas that I use every single time for any type of sourced writing, including writing articles for Associated Content. Create a notes file: This is the ultimate tool for my writing. When I have found a source for my paper I take it with me to the computer. While I m reading the portion of this book, or encyclopedia, or Internet article, I have a writing program open and I write down paragraphs and bullet points of the article in my own words, highlighting key concepts. This is separated by sources so when I m writing I can quickly put down sources, and after I use an article I create my insert for my bibliography. If you keep up with your bibliography notes, when it comes to make your works cited page, you re already done! Create headings for your notes: Give your notes from your notes file and copy and paste them into categories. Give each category a heading as to the general idea that groups them together. For example, on my paper in how the Nazi party controlled the people of Germany, I made a group called Fear Factor. I put all my notes regarding fear in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. Analysis Of New Orleans After The Deluge The Juxtaposition Graphic novels have the ability to portray multiple perspectives and can cleverly represent as many groups an author believes is needed. What becomes the decision of the author is which perspective deems more important or more fascinating. Depending on which the author decides to portray, there tends to be different effects on the readers. Neufeld uses Scott s Mccloud s ideas from Understanding Comics, such as adding detail to a character to differentiate them from the reader in order to induce certain emotions. The perspectivetaken from the primary source may receive more empathy or distaste depending on who the author chooses to represent. Through detailing certain character, this focus is made clear to be on the victims. However, graphic novels are sometimes subject to biases and misinterpretations, which can belittle the authenticity of the accounts being given. Different accounts of the events hold different biases. They could either represent those who have undergone the specific event or that of someone who has speculated from the outside. In A.D. New Orleans after the Deluge, Josh Neufeld represents a perspective not commonly exemplified, as he assigns different perspectives to his character and juxtaposes them using the dialogue from their interactions. A different view of the story is told, and reasons to the questionable, or unethical actions of the victims are brought into focus and analyzed through a perspective that sides with the victims. ... The study included six interventions that were followed by the staff in the effort to reduce CAUTI. The six interventions included: communication of CAUTI data to interdisciplinary teams, a nurse driven, physician approved protocol, problem analysis using Lean principles, daily unit based surveillance rounds, silver alloy urinary catheters, and an antimicrobial bundle comprised of two cleansing products for patients with an indwelling urinary catheter (Roser, Piercy Altpeter, 2014). The nurse physician protocol allowed for nurses to assess whether the catheter was still necessary and if found not to be, the nurse could discontinue it. This resulted in a 58% decrease in the number of catheters used (Roser, Piercy Altpeter, 2014). An education session was implemented by nurses using principles from the Lean system that checked the capability of nurses to understand just how dangerous CAUTI can be. It was found that no single intervention alone could reduce the occurrence of CAUTI development. Nurses must integrate several interventions to have an effective result at lowering the rates. However, this particular study found that after the use of the antimicrobial bundle, rates of CAUTI did decline. Roser et al. (2014) emphasized that education and awareness of ... Fossil fuel release carbon dioxide when they are burned which adds to the greenhouse effect and increases global warming. The way we can help the environment and reduce the amount of carbon dioxideis by replaying fossil fuels with solar and wind sources for electric power generations in the U.S. We burn fossil fuel everyday by driving cars. EIA estimates that U.S. motor gasoline and diesel fuel consumption for transportation in 2016 resulted in the emission of about 1,102 million metric tons of carbon dioxide and 437 million metric tons of CO2, respectively, for a total of 1,540 million metric tons of CO2. Tesla is one of the only company s that was able to make a full electric car. Even thought the prices for the cars is very expensive, the car only runs on a mere battery. If we are able to mass produce more batteries thats much more affordable, we can replace large amount of cars today with electric powered cars and reduce the amount of fossil fuel that is burned. Many people buy solar panels for their houses so they can use that energy. Solar panels help get energy for your house and use that energy for the lights or even to produce heat for your house. • 42. Symbolism Of The Scarlet Letter The Scarlet Letter: Symbolism of the Scarlet A Symbolism has many different meanings, and the Scarlet A in The Scarlet Letter has many different meanings as well. Hester Prynne is the main character who is forced to wear the scarlet letter as remembrance for the crime and the sin that she has committed. This letter completely ruined her reputation in her community. How could a small piece of fabric do so much harm? This letter was a representation of something much greater than the letter A . This letter was originally made to stand for adulteress, as physical reminder of her sins. The vibrant scarlet red is meant to shame Hester, to make her feel sorry for her mistakes. Most importantly it was a symbol for change and an emblem of identity. In short, the scarlet letter meant much more than a letter of shame, it was simply a piece of fabric with meaning that could easily change. The first representation of the A was adulteress. When Hester Prynneslept with Reverend Dimmesdale, as a married woman, she became pregnant. The community thought her a widow, and knew that she could not be pregnant, unless she had committed adultery. The community decided on a punishment for her crimes, Hester was forced to wear the scarlet A at all times as a reminder of the sin she had committed before God. In the puritan era sin was utterly unacceptable, and Hester had committed adultery, a sin punishable by death itself. This brings us to the next symbolic evidence of the letter. ... Background Information: The leaves of a plant are the main photosynthetic organs and are involved in gas exchange and water transportation throughout a plant (Evans et al, 17). A leaf typically consists of an upper and lower epidermis, the mesophyll cells, veins, guard cells and stomata. The mesophyll cells contains spongey cells which have large gaps between each cell to allow oxygen and carbon dioxide circulation. The mesophyll cells contain palisade cells, which are located beneath the upper epidermis. The palisade cells contain many chloroplasts, which are green organelles. Located in the internal layers of chloroplasts is the pigment chlorophyll which is involved in trapping the light energy in photosynthesis (Evans et al, 17). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Short wavelengths = high frequency = more energy Long wavelength = low frequency = less energy Plants can absorb a number of different length light waves, although not all of them are equal in power or energy which influences a plants growth. Approximately 80% of light that reaches a leaf is absorbed and depending on its wavelength, may excite chlorophyll pigments (reference text book). Plants absorb both red and purple light waves, however because purple wavelengths are shorter, they contain more energy. The green pigment involved in photosynthesis is chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is green in appearance because it absorbs red and blue light, making these colours unable to be seen. It is the reflection of the green light that reaches out eyes, giving chlorophyll a green colour. This green light that can be seen cannot be used by the plant for photosynthesis. Therefore, theoretically growth should be inhibited in the plants only exposed to green light. There are two main types of chlorophyll, chlorophyll a which absorbs wavelengths of 430nm (blue) and 662 (red) and is the main photosynthetic pigment, and chlorophyll b, which doesn t directly participate in the photosynthetic process, but is capable of donating its energy to chlorophyll a ...
