The Relationship Between Accounting Responsibility Of Real...
Hence, the negative impacts of earnings management and accusing earnings management as one of the
main reason of last decade financial scandals have forced accounting setters and financial regulators to
provide solutions and initiatives for hindering earnings management. However, most of the attempts
have failed, since earnings managements researchers found that managers still can achieve their
earnings management objectives, through manipulating real activities. So it is more useful to examine
the relationship between accounting responsibility in real earnings management. ???? There are some
reasons for why managers manage earnings. At the basic level, the reasons are related to the
performance of the firm with respect to some benchmark. This benchmark could be the previous
period s performance that shows an improving trend, analyst s expectations or whatever benchmark is
specified in a manager s compensation contract. Missing these benchmarks can be extremely costly
because the relationship between stock price and compensation and earning is very non linear around
the benchmarks. When firms are extremely close to the target, the incentives to take earning just over
the target becoming exceedingly strong. In these cases, the firms will try and use some form of
upwards earnings management to bump up earnings over the target. However, when firms are below
their target, they have an incentive to make things worse for the following two reasons. Firstly, it is

Classical Liberalism V.S. Reform Liberalism on the issue of Wealth Redistribution and Income
Classical Liberalism is against government interventionism in all realms of life. They believe that
everyone should be treated equally regardless of income. This differs from reform liberalism, as they
want government intervention to guarantee equality of opportunity. This is made possible by
progressive income tax, government regulation on big business, and social welfare. In My opinion
Classical Liberalism is superior as its fair and easier to implement than reform Liberalism.

The Classical Liberalist, would oppose any regulation on the economy. As they believe that those who
are able to make money based on the principle of supply and demand already have helped the welfare
of other in the process. Classical Liberalist s understand inequality as an inevitable result of free
competition, and actually see it as beneficial in the long run as capital is reinvested, to create new
technology, employment and opportunities. If this capital were to be taxed heavily instead, many
opportunities and jobs would be lost further adding to the inequality of wealth and opportunity for the
poor.
The biggest difference s between the set s of ideologies is that Reform Liberalism believes in equality
of opportunity, and that it is ethical to reduce the freedom for some if it means increasing it for others.
Classical Liberalist s believe that the invisible hand will regulate the economy and that any wealth
redistribution to the poor would harm them in the long run. They believe that everyone should be
completely in control of their own destiny. I think that Classical Liberalism is the superior theory as it
sticks to very simple principles, and it hold everyone responsible for their actions.

Psychedelic Rock In The 1960s
The birth of the psychedelic, or as it was sometimes known, acid rock genre was the result of an
attempt to sonically stimulate the distorted perceptions experienced while under the influence of
hallucinogenic drugs such as mescaline, psilocybin and LSD. The term psychedelic had begun to be
applied to a few bands already in the early 1960s, with the Grateful Dead making their record debut in
the spring of 1967. By 1966, garage bands were exposed to the first media coverage of LSD and, in
some cases, may have had a band member who actually used LSD. Soon their song lyrics moved from
passing references to more vivid descriptions of psychedelic experience (Johnson Stax, 2006, p.414).

However, where bands like Led Zeppelin or Steppenwolf were clearly much more heavily blues
influenced in their sound, Iron Butterfly s was heavily tinged with a drug induced sonic flare which
was elemental in their track In A Gadda Da Vida . As musicologist, rock musician, and author Julian
Cope so eloquently put it, the music they unleashed was grounded for much of the time by a slothful
sludge ladled out over a super slowed beat more indicative of the overworked laboriousness of the
band members...rather than being the result of some chemically induced torpor

The Growing Epidemic Of Obesity
Since the 1960s, the United States has experienced an uptick in the amount of patients living with
chronic diseases such as type II diabetes, coronary artery disease, and obesity. Currently, diseases such
as obesity overwhelm the US healthcare system, which incurs major financial cost and negatively
affects an individual s quality of life. Particularly, the growing epidemic of obesity is affecting
millions of people. Distressingly, the current generation of children is cited as the first generation that
will not outlive their parents. Childhood obesity is defined as a child s weight that is disproportionate
to their height. More specifically, the body mass index for the child s age must exceed the 95th
percentile. In the past, obesity in the pediatric population was seldom seen. Accordingly, healthcare
policies written by lawmakers and endorsed by healthcare providers must be implemented in hopes of
winning the war waged against childhood obesity. Most importantly, this report will analyze Alabama
Public Schools Policies and Implementation which is grounded on the Federal Nutrition and WIC
Reauthorization Act. Additionally, this report will examine the historical, ethical, and political
foundation of Alabama s policy. In conclusion, this essay will reiterate the policy s effectiveness and
its impact on the nursing profession.

Place Violence In The Workplace
The issue of work place violence is becoming more prominent every day. The challenge that managers
are facing is how to deal with it before and after the event. The management team must put things in
place that allow them to reduce or prevent the possibility of any kind of violent event. These event
cans stream from sexual harassment to conflict or even violence. The importance of mangers, at all
levels, play in preventing work place violence is failing as more of these types of events are
happening. The mass shooting in the workplace have almost become a normal part of life. The
shootings are taking place in government facilities and private businesses all over the country. The

By starting with the screening process of your employees will help reduce the chance of anything
happening. Behaviors of concern can help workers recognize potential problems with fellow
employees. (Romano, et al, 2011). Managers should focus on training their employees to know what
signs they should be looking for and how to deal with those signs when they are identified in certain
individuals in the work place once they are hired. Being able to identify those types of actions is the
key to helping the people that are having issues.
As an employee, there should be a great importance on bringing the issues to the management so it
can be dealt with appropriately. Getting people the proper help is just one way of preventing any kind
of work place violence. Understanding that the help is there for people that need it is important for the
employees to know as well. The training should focus on more than just recognizing the

The Mountains Of Central Appalachia
Trent Brown
Professor Lautenshlager

30 November 2014
The mountains of central Appalachia have always been known for, almost exclusively, the booming
coal deposits that inhabit it, as well as the controversy that comes with the industry. The controversy
that involves the wildlife, ecosystems, and residents of the area is one with fine lines, gray areas, and
more than simply a good and evil side. The mountains of Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, and
Tennessee are also home to some of the most extensive biodiversity in our country, as well as rich
cultural heritage that extends to the earliest years of our nation. Everything that makes central
Appalachia unique and identifiable is exactly what they might be in jeopardy of losing. Surface
mining began to replace traditional underground mining around WWII (Bozzi 116). Rather than
digging into the mountain to extract the coal, strip mining involves removing the overlying soil and
rock that covers the coal deposits (Lutz 1). It seemed appealing at first because the previous known
dangers of black lung disease and cave ins were now limited with the surface mining method (Bozzi
116). However, surface mining came with it s own problems, a lot of them being more serious and
irreversible than underground mining (Allen 182). This method of surface mining was the spark that
created the trend of mountaintop removal (Bozzi 117). Mountaintop removal is the complete
destruction of the mountain peak in order to reach coal

Factors That Influence A Nation s Willingness Enter Into...
There are many factors that influence a nation s willingness to enter into Trade Agreements. Briefly
outline the basic models discussed in the readings and class (Heckscher Ohlin and Ricardo Viner).
Discuss what factors influence domestic trade preferences (Political, Economic, Sociotropic, etc.).
According to the article, the hypothesis of Heckscher Ohlin model or factor endowments is that all
factors of production within a country are mobile across sectors, that markets are perfectly
competitive, and that there are constant returns to scale in production (Mansfield Mutz, 427). Beyond
that, another assumption of Heckscher Ohlin model or factor endowments is critical is that factors of
production can move quickly and easily from one sector to another (Mansfield Mutz, 428). In my
opinion, one thing can be very easy to see that skill is the most important factor which can gain more
benefits from open trade. Briefly, for a country, the more advanced technology you have the more you
can get from open trade, for example, America can gain more benefits than China because of highly
skilled individuals will benefit economically from open trade (Mansfield Mutz, 451) The second
model Ricardo Viner which is a special factor that is not a unique factor affect open trade, it
emphasizes an individual works will affect trade preferences and it posits that trade preferences
depend on the industry in which a person works (Mansfield Mutz, 425). This special factor will make

The article The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time Was written by Mark Haddon. In this
article Mark Haddon explains how he came upon writing the novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in
the Night Time. He starts off by describing that the novel is based on a seemingly unlikely murder. He
then describes how the story is told from the perspective of a 15 year old boy named Christopher. The
thing that makes Christopher different from everyone else however, is that he is autistic. He is very
intelligent, and has a superbly logical brain which makes this novel unlike any other. Finally Mark
Haddon ends this article by giving a story behind his life and why he came about writing the novel. He
explains how he grew up working with autistic people and found it to be very intriguing. His purpose
behind publishing this novel was to inform people of what it is like to look through the eyes of a 15
year old autistic boy. In paragraph 2 of the article The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time
Mark Haddon explains Christopher as although he knows all the countries of the world and their

Coagulation necrosis refers to a process in which individual cells die among living neighbor cells
without eliciting an inflammatory response. This type of cell death is attributed to the effects of
physical, chemical, or osmotic damage to the plasma membrane.
In CN, the cell initially swells, then shrinks and undergoes pyknosis a term used to describe marked
nuclear chromatin condensation. This process evolves over 6 to 12 hours. By 24 hours extensive
chromatolysis occurs resulting in pan necrosis. Astrocytes swell and fragment, myelin sheaths
degenerate. Irreversible cellular injury as demonstrated by eosinophilic cytoplasm and shrunken nuclei
are seen between 8 to 12 hours after arterial occlusion. The morphology of dying cells in coagulation

The Two Different Of Nursing Theory
The Two Different of Nursing Theory Tam Nguyen The Christ College of Nursing and Health
Sciences English Composition Ms. Ryan April 29, 2015 Some people ask what is nursing and what do
nurses do? Nurses follow the nursing process to treat patient and they often use different theories to
guide them. According to Peplau s Theory of Nursing, she believe that nurses must clearly understand
the purpose of nursing to promote their client s growth, and nurse patient interact. The role of nursing
is to help others identify their health problems and nurses should apply the principles of nurse patient
relations to the problems that emphasize all levels of experience. Watson s Theory defined nursing as
the principle of nursing that can lead to the practice of loving kindness between the one who is caring
and the one who is being cared for, especially the caring activities performed by nurses as they interact
with others. Although Peplau and Watson s theory both desire interacting and caring for others,
Watson s theory is typically reflective of an excellent in human and heart centered. Not only is it a
relationship of caring for the self and others based on a foundation of love and values, but also it is a
caring moment to moment between the nurses and others. In Peplau s theory, I believe that nurse
patient relationships provide an opportunity for the nurse to identify himself or herself by name,

The Modern City of Paris
In this essay, I intend to look at Question 1, The Modern City 1, Paris. I have decided to choose and
examine Maison de Verre (1928 32) by architect, Pierre Chareau which is situated in Rue Saint
Guillaume, Paris. Maison de Verre, also known as House of Glass was built in the era of Modern
Movement and of course, it somehow has a strong relation with the early modernist issues materially,
structurally and spatially. I will first explore how the house relates to the industrialisation issue in
general but to be specific how Chareau s interest and decision to use certain materials like steel really
brought forward the sense of the industrial design of the house. Then, I will talk about the relation of
the house with the issue of mechanisation and how successful Chareau was in portraying a set of
machines to live in with amazing planning since the very beginning. His concept of mobility in most
of the mechanical designs really captured my interest. Last but not least, I will discuss the issue of
hygiene in this house as I think that it is somehow a response to the spread of diseases in the twentieth
century and people started to think more about the idea of cleanliness. At the end of this essay, I will
conclude it with a summary of the three modernist issues which will be discussed later and the
influence of Maison de Verre on the following architects generation.
As mentioned earlier, industrialisation is one of the early modernist issues which relates significantly

Mother In A Refugee Camp And Prayer Before Death
Human suffering is a poignant part of life and takes many forms. Explore this idea, referring to three
poems in detail and to at least three other poems drawn from your wider reading. Human suffering is
feeling pain, distress or hardship in life. The three poems chosen all share the definition of human
suffering. While reading the poems War Photographer, Mother in a Refugee Camp and Prayer Before
birth it clearly shows how the horrors of war are the most magnified of human suffering. Each poem is
reflecting a form of suffering that was created due to the violence of war. Carol Ann Duffy reflects the
life of a war photographer developing his pictures, showing the pain he faces from looking back at the
photos. A Mother in a Refugee Camp was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No Madonna and child could touch her tenderness for a son . Madonna represents Virgin Mary and
child represents Christ. Chinua Achebe is implying that the mother in the poem loves her son more
than Mary loved Jesus Christ; this shows how strong the bond between the mother and her son is. In
the Catholic Church it is believed than Mary watched Jesus die and her prayer did not help him. This
may be the reason why Achebe chose this metaphor to describe what the mother is going through as
her prayer also did not help her son. Throughout the poem the reader can see that during the course of
the death of the son the mother is praying for him to be okay. Rubbed him down with bare palms.
Because palms are usually used to pray, it reminds the reader that the mother is praying to try and save
her son s life. Visual imagery was used to represent the predictable death of the son in line fifteen: the
rust colored hair left on his skull . The adjective rust colored shows that the son has been dying for a
while. Achebe also uses olfactory imagery to further describe the conditions of the refugee camp. The
air was heavy with odors of diarrhea , this shows the unhygienic conditions of the

The Effect Of Cortisol On The Levels Of Cortisol
Cortisol is a cholesterol derivative steroid hormone. It is produced in the cortex of the adrenal gland.
Cortisol is secreted because of stress related events and its part of our adaptive stress response.
The total plasma cortisol taken in the morning, in a healthy individual is 200 700nmol. Secretion of
cortisol follows the diurnal rhythm so naturally levels of cortisol are at their highest 20 30 minutes
after awakening; with an average of 50% increase. This is referred to as the cortisol awakening
response (CAR)
Cortisol levels start to decline in a steady manner throughout the day; reaching its lowest point late in
the evening. High levels of cortisol in the morning are linked to sleep cycle, therefore jet lag, night
shifts are some of the factors that can disrupt ACTH secretion and consequently cortisol too.
The patient presented with weight gain, flushed skin, tiredness, inability to concentrate, hirsutism,
depression and facial swelling; which all indicate that the patient might be suffering from Cushings
Syndrome.
Cushings sydrome is characterised by a group of symptoms that occur as a result of elevated levels of
cortisol.
The source can be endogenous, the first would be Cushings disease which is a cortcotropinoma
(tumour in the anterior pituitary gland) which can be a microadenoma or a macroadenoma. The second

Boston Tea Party During The American Revolution
Boston tea party During the American Revolution
The Boston Tea Party refers to the political protest initiated by the Sons of Liberty on 16th December,
1773 in Boston (Savelle Labaree, 1966). The protestors, disguised often as American Indians, dumped
the entire tea shipment into the Boston Harbor sent by East India Company into the water. This protest
was in reaction and showing the noncooperation towards the Tea Act enacted on 10th May, 1773. In
reaction to this event, the British government showed a harsh response and this escalated the
American Revolution. The Boston Tea Party has become an iconic episode of the American history,
and some other political and governmental protests for instance the Tea Party movements after 2010
overtly refer to the event.
Throughout out the British America, Colonists protested against the Tea Act, and the reason for their
objection was grounded on the belief that such act violated the rights of Englishmen as they believed
on No taxation without representation, which meant that they could only be taxed by their own
nominated representatives rather than the British parliament (Carp, 2012). Protesters had effectively
prevented the taxed tea unloading in other three colonies. However in Boston, Thomas Hutchinson the
royal governor refused the return of tea shipment to the Britain.
The Boston Tea Party has significant impact on the history of American Revolution. In 1774,
Parliament responded with the Intolerable Acts or Coercive Acts,

Anne Sexton The Bells
Anne Sexton was a troubled woman. She often felt neglected by her parents; unloved even, so much
so that she attempted suicide. Before she succeeded in 1974, Sexton used hundreds of poems to
confess her feelings. One such poem is The Bells , a seemingly simple memory of a trip to the circus.
However, poetry can never be looked at through one lens. Instead, one must look deeper to understand
the message the poet is attempting to convey. And so, through a different a lens, this memory becomes
a story of an incredibly complex father daughter relationship. Before analyzing the meaning, a reader
must first notice the style of the poem itself. Anne Sexton, being a part of the confessionalism period,
writes in first person. This deepens the suspicion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite this being only the first line, diction is already important. Sexton specifically chose the word
scabbed, as scabs cover wounds. Perhaps a scab is covering the wounded father daughter relationship.
Line 5 furthers this idea, as Sexton writes Father, do you remember? . This line is key in
understanding the father daughter relationship, as it has many meanings. For one, Sexton purposely
chose Father, rather than Dad or Daddy. Father is more formal; it shows the distance between father
and daughter. Sexton also asks this question because she wants to make sure this memory means as
much to him as it does to her. The idea is furthered by lines 9 10, as they read ...and how the bells/
trembled for the flying man. The reader must pay close attention to the bells, as it is the title. Sexton
uses this metaphor to symbolize the negative feelings to her father. The bells tremble, as Sexton would
have, because she is scared. This idea is contradicted, however, by the end of stanza one. Sexton
depicts a typical father daughter relationship; a child laughing on his shoulders. She depicts a
relationship she wishes she

Pros And Cons Of Medical Technology
After careful consideration given to the pros and cons of technology, I have arrived at the conclusion
that advanced technology is, indeed, far greater than the absence of the technology we have acquired,
and which we will continue to acquire. Medical technology, for example, for what brings to mind is
the Da Vinci Robotic Surgeon, which can perform very delicate procedures such as brain surgery. It is
designed to facilitate complex surgery using a minimally invasive approach, and is controlled by a
surgeon from a console. The system is commonly used for Prostatectomies, and increasingly for
Cardiac Valve Repair and Gynecologic surgical procedures. According to the manufacturer, the
American company Intuitive Surgical. the Da Vinci System is called Da Vinci in part because
Leonardo Da Vinci s, study of human anatomy eventually led to the design of the first known
automaton in history. Additionally, through robotics, many surgical procedures are now performed
using lasers. Before this technology, patients were subjected to large surgical incisions, leaving
enormous scars. Now, however, the laser surgeries are successfully performed and they have even cut
patients hospital stays shorter or even on an outpatient basis. Additionally, advanced prosthetic limbs
can give an amputee almost the same range of movement as human arms, legs and other various body
parts. The Tmsuk Enryu T 52 Manriquez 2 援竜, Des. Rescue Dragon is a Japanese invention that is a

Why Virginia Is The Commonwealth Of Virginia
Introduction
Virginia, officially known as the Commonwealth of Virginia, is one of the thirteen original states in
the United States and used to be the first colonial possession established in mainland British America.
Due to this reason, Virginia is often called the Old Dominion in many times. According to the
historical data and statistics, eight American presidents were born in Virginia, which is more than any
other states in the country. Therefore, Virginia is also known as the Mother of Presidents . With a total
area of 42,774.3 square miles, Virginia is located in the South Atlantic region of the United States and
is bounded by Maryland, North Carolina, State of Tennessee, Kentucky and District of Columbia.
As an international student, I came to America last summer. It was my first time in the United States,
and Virginia was my first stop. After studying and living in this beautiful state for nearly half a year, I
find that the longer I live here, the more I want to know about it. Hence, I choose Virginia as the topic
of my Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) analysis paper to take a deep look at the state.
The main purpose of my paper is to give an analysis of the overall financial health of Virginia. To
access to the goal, I will first examine the quality of CAFR, go through the economic condition, break
out the budget, take a brief look at the fund types and finally analysis the financial health of Virginia.
The CAFR is for the fiscal year ended June

Ghrelin Emotions
It has been found that certain chemicals in the brain impact your feelings of being hungry or satisfied.
The two primary hormones are ghrelin, the natural appetite stimulating hormone, and leptin, the
natural appetite suppressing hormone. Ghrelin is a hormone produced in the stomach that tells your
brain when you are hungry, therefore stimulating your appetite. It has also been found to slow your
metabolism and decrease your ability to burn fat. The hormone leptin is produced in adipose tissue. It
does the opposite job; it tells your brain when you are full or satisfied. It stimulates the burning of
calories and increases your metabolism.
Research is continually being done to learn more about how our appetite s function. Leptin and ...

This design is intended for us to maintain normal, healthy weight. Our lifestyle choices can either
allow us to maintain normal weight or cause us to get out of sync. For example, if you do not have
adequate sleep you will create more ghrelin and less leptin. This will result in an increase in appetite
and reduce the burning of calories. Another example is when you reduce your food intake when
dieting; ghrelin production is increased. This increase sends a signal to your hypothalamus that you
need to eat more. It is this lack of sleep that forces your body to work against itself and not maintain
and optimal environment for a healthy weight.
Regular exercise helps to regulate ghrelin and leptin production. Exercise normalizes your appetite
and aids it in efficiently burning calories.
The foods that you select also affect ghrelin, leptin, and the satiety center of your brain. The brain
does not recognize simple sugars or artificial sweeteners as food. As a result of this, ghrelin will
stimulate your appetite even though you may not even be hungry. This increased consumption will
result in your overeating and increasing

Kanye west s freshman album The College Dropout brought a new sound to the rap genre. Also, He

Tobias Wolff s memoir, This Boy s Life , explores the idea that an individual s actions can be altered
due to the people they are exposed to. The protagonist Jack Wolff lives an impressionable life where
he undergoes somewhat of a dilemma in relations to his actions, being incapable of changing for the
greater good of himself. The absence of a proper male role model plays a large role on Jack s actions,

Following this quote, Wolff uses an author intrusion when he brings forward the fact that over time the

his actions which he had caught from a lousy role model. Wolff presents the idea that Power can be
enjoyed only when it is recognized and feared , and that power can make an individual undertake
actions they normally wouldn t. Jack s association with an abusive man such as Roy shows that Jack
has been influenced by Roy s unjust habits, and that he is to blame in terms of the actions that Jack
chooses to undertake.

that he undertakes. Chameleon like identity
On the contrary, Jack chooses how to act regardless of his role models, meaning that he can be held
accountable for his own actions. From the beginning of the memoir Jack is depicted as an immature
child whose dream it was to transform into someone different. Jack s dreams of transformation get
further and further from reality predominantly due to how he decides to act and the people he chooses
to spend his time with. Jack is responsible for his own actions as he is the one who actually decides
how he acts. A moment in the memoire where Jack s delinquency is depicted is when Jack states that

Life skills as a treatment approach for the homeless population in a group setting has the possibility of

An organization s culture consists of unseen elements such as assumptions and values that affect

Over the decades and since it was first created, the ongoing guidance and encouragement of the

able to agree on. As far as the group, I am hoping to make an alliance with Lomas de Poleo
resident(s), Pedro Zaragoza and Global Business Developer. If the wall is built on the land that would
hinder in investments of monetary value. The text refers to a difference of opinion between who
rightly owns the land but I hoping to convenience the Lomas and Zaragoza to put their differences

The Importance Of The Clunkers Program
First off I will start off by saying that every car is different. The most important step is safety. Make
sure you have the tools you need close by. The car needs to be on a flat or level surface. Only work on
one wheel at a time. If you are working on the front wheel brakes, chock the back wheels behind the
car. If you are going to be working on the back brakes, chock the front wheels in front of the car. Once
you have secured the vehicle in park or locked in gear, loosen the lug nuts on the tire you are going to
be working on. Do not take them all the way off yet, only break them loose. Now you are ready to
jack the car up. Most new vehicles have a lip or pad designed for this use. If you do not see one, try to

If you are patient and have basic knowledge of tools, you can replace a car window thus saving money
on window repair. Replacing a car window is not a difficult task, but simply one with many small
steps. Many of these are listed in the vehicle repair guides you can find at the local auto parts store.
Here are the steps on how to change a car window. Gather your supplies and tools. Put everything near
the car so items are within easy reach of the project. Make sure there is no debris or other unneeded
items around where you are working. Place the tarp on the outside of the window or the ground along
the exterior of the door. This will help catch any debris which falls outside of the car. Place the new
glass on the tarp in an area which will be out of the way of your work. Open the door of the window
you are working with unless the window is in a sliding door which must be closed to proceed. If the
window isn t in a door, skip to the next step. Using a screwdriver, remove the screws around the inside
panel under the window you are working with. Put the screws in a container for easy keeping. For
electronic windows, the screws underneath the inside door handle must also be removed. Then pop off
the top of the door handle to locate the wiring by wedging a flathead screwdriver under the handle and
pushing the handle away from the door. Unscrew the screws holding the wiring inside the door handle

The American Automobile And The Foreign Car Manufacturers
What is business ethics? It is formally defined as the critical, structured examination of how people
institutions should behave in the world of commerce. Specifically, it examines self interest and profits,
versus moral values and ethics. The Ford Pinto was a new stylish car, which gave Ford an ultimatum.
Save money or save lives. In this paper I will explain the ethical problems with the Ford Pinto and
why it s imperative for corporations to incorporate ethics into their companies.
The American automobile and the foreign car manufacturers were battling in 1960 70s attempting to
create a more efficient car at bargain prices. Another problem that was haunting the industry was the
gas consumption, which, in the period of the Arab oil embargo in 1970s, became a really critical issue.
The survival for the American automobile industry was in designing and building of subcompact cars,
which would be affordable for masses, consuming as less gas as possible. Such car for the Ford Motor
Company became Ford Pinto that was presented to public in September of 1970.
Since competition between domestic automobile manufacturers was very intense, the Ford Motors
Company decided to build Ford Pinto in only 25 month versus normal 43 months. The General
Manager of Ford Pinto project, Lee Iacocca, was so obsessed with the idea of creating an affordable
car and winning the market, that he specifically set a certain goal for Ford Pinto development team.
The goal was that the car should

  • 2. The Relationship Between Accounting Responsibility Of Real... Hence, the negative impacts of earnings management and accusing earnings management as one of the main reason of last decade financial scandals have forced accounting setters and financial regulators to provide solutions and initiatives for hindering earnings management. However, most of the attempts have failed, since earnings managements researchers found that managers still can achieve their earnings management objectives, through manipulating real activities. So it is more useful to examine the relationship between accounting responsibility in real earnings management. ???? There are some reasons for why managers manage earnings. At the basic level, the reasons are related to the performance of the firm with respect to some benchmark. This benchmark could be the previous period s performance that shows an improving trend, analyst s expectations or whatever benchmark is specified in a manager s compensation contract. Missing these benchmarks can be extremely costly because the relationship between stock price and compensation and earning is very non linear around the benchmarks. When firms are extremely close to the target, the incentives to take earning just over the target becoming exceedingly strong. In these cases, the firms will try and use some form of upwards earnings management to bump up earnings over the target. However, when firms are below their target, they have an incentive to make things worse for the following two reasons. Firstly, it is highly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Reform Liberalism on the issue of Wealth Redistribution and Income Classical Liberalism is against government interventionism in all realms of life. They believe that everyone should be treated equally regardless of income. This differs from reform liberalism, as they want government intervention to guarantee equality of opportunity. This is made possible by progressive income tax, government regulation on big business, and social welfare. In My opinion Classical Liberalism is superior as its fair and easier to implement than reform Liberalism. 1 Classical Liberalists think that every man or women is ... As they believe that those who are able to make money based on the principle of supply and demand already have helped the welfare of other in the process. Classical Liberalist s understand inequality as an inevitable result of free competition, and actually see it as beneficial in the long run as capital is reinvested, to create new technology, employment and opportunities. If this capital were to be taxed heavily instead, many opportunities and jobs would be lost further adding to the inequality of wealth and opportunity for the poor. The biggest difference s between the set s of ideologies is that Reform Liberalism believes in equality of opportunity, and that it is ethical to reduce the freedom for some if it means increasing it for others. Classical Liberalist s believe that the invisible hand will regulate the economy and that any wealth redistribution to the poor would harm them in the long run. They believe that everyone should be completely in control of their own destiny. I think that Classical Liberalism is the superior theory as it sticks to very simple principles, and it hold everyone responsible for their actions. 3 Sources Dickerson, Mark, Thomas Flanagan, and O Neill Brenda. Psychedelic Rock In The 1960s The birth of the psychedelic, or as it was sometimes known, acid rock genre was the result of an attempt to sonically stimulate the distorted perceptions experienced while under the influence of hallucinogenic drugs such as mescaline, psilocybin and LSD. The term psychedelic had begun to be applied to a few bands already in the early 1960s, with the Grateful Dead making their record debut in the spring of 1967. By 1966, garage bands were exposed to the first media coverage of LSD and, in some cases, may have had a band member who actually used LSD. The Mountains Of Central Appalachia Trent Brown Professor Lautenshlager English 2614 30 November 2014 The mountains of central Appalachia have always been known for, almost exclusively, the booming coal deposits that inhabit it, as well as the controversy that comes with the industry. The controversy that involves the wildlife, ecosystems, and residents of the area is one with fine lines, gray areas, and more than simply a good and evil side. The mountains of Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, and Tennessee are also home to some of the most extensive biodiversity in our country, as well as rich cultural heritage that extends to the earliest years of our nation. Everything that makes central Appalachia unique and identifiable is exactly what they might be in jeopardy of losing. Surface mining began to replace traditional underground mining around WWII (Bozzi 116). Rather than digging into the mountain to extract the coal, strip mining involves removing the overlying soil and rock that covers the coal deposits (Lutz 1). It seemed appealing at first because the previous known dangers of black lung disease and cave ins were now limited with the surface mining method (Bozzi 116). However, surface mining came with it s own problems, a lot of them being more serious and irreversible than underground mining (Allen 182). This method of surface mining was the spark that created the trend of mountaintop removal (Bozzi 117). Mountaintop removal is the complete destruction of the mountain peak in order to reach coal ... Briefly outline the basic models discussed in the readings and class (Heckscher Ohlin and Ricardo Viner). Discuss what factors influence domestic trade preferences (Political, Economic, Sociotropic, etc.). According to the article, the hypothesis of Heckscher Ohlin model or factor endowments is that all factors of production within a country are mobile across sectors, that markets are perfectly competitive, and that there are constant returns to scale in production (Mansfield Mutz, 427). Beyond that, another assumption of Heckscher Ohlin model or factor endowments is critical is that factors of production can move quickly and easily from one sector to another (Mansfield Mutz, 428). In my opinion, one thing can be very easy to see that skill is the most important factor which can gain more benefits from open trade. Briefly, for a country, the more advanced technology you have the more you can get from open trade, for example, America can gain more benefits than China because of highly skilled individuals will benefit economically from open trade (Mansfield Mutz, 451) The second model Ricardo Viner which is a special factor that is not a unique factor affect open trade, it emphasizes an individual works will affect trade preferences and it posits that trade preferences depend on the industry in which a person works (Mansfield Mutz, 425). Maison de Verre, also known as House of Glass was built in the era of Modern Movement and of course, it somehow has a strong relation with the early modernist issues materially, structurally and spatially. This protest was in reaction and showing the noncooperation towards the Tea Act enacted on 10th May, 1773. Father is more formal; it shows the distance between father and daughter. Sexton also asks this question because she wants to make sure this memory means as much to him as it does to her. The idea is furthered by lines 9 10, as they read ...and how the bells/ trembled for the flying man. The reader must pay close attention to the bells, as it is the title. Sexton uses this metaphor to symbolize the negative feelings to her father. The bells tremble, as Sexton would have, because she is scared. This idea is contradicted, however, by the end of stanza one. Sexton depicts a typical father daughter relationship; a child laughing on his shoulders. She depicts a relationship she wishes she ... Pros And Cons Of Medical Technology After careful consideration given to the pros and cons of technology, I have arrived at the conclusion that advanced technology is, indeed, far greater than the absence of the technology we have acquired, and which we will continue to acquire. Medical technology, for example, for what brings to mind is the Da Vinci Robotic Surgeon, which can perform very delicate procedures such as brain surgery. It is designed to facilitate complex surgery using a minimally invasive approach, and is controlled by a surgeon from a console. The system is commonly used for Prostatectomies, and increasingly for Cardiac Valve Repair and Gynecologic surgical procedures. According to the manufacturer, the American company Intuitive Surgical. the Da Vinci System is called Da Vinci in part because Leonardo Da Vinci s, study of human anatomy eventually led to the design of the first known automaton in history. Additionally, through robotics, many surgical procedures are now performed using lasers. Before this technology, patients were subjected to large surgical incisions, leaving enormous scars. Now, however, the laser surgeries are successfully performed and they have even cut patients hospital stays shorter or even on an outpatient basis. Hence, I choose Virginia as the topic of my Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) analysis paper to take a deep look at the state. The main purpose of my paper is to give an analysis of the overall financial health of Virginia. It has also been found to slow your metabolism and decrease your ability to burn fat. The hormone leptin is produced in adipose tissue. This design is intended for us to maintain normal, healthy weight. Our lifestyle choices can either allow us to maintain normal weight or cause us to get out of sync. For example, if you do not have adequate sleep you will create more ghrelin and less leptin. This will result in an increase in appetite and reduce the burning of calories. Another example is when you reduce your food intake when dieting; ghrelin production is increased. This increase sends a signal to your hypothalamus that you need to eat more. It is this lack of sleep that forces your body to work against itself and not maintain and optimal environment for a healthy weight. Regular exercise helps to regulate ghrelin and leptin production. Exercise normalizes your appetite and aids it in efficiently burning calories. The foods that you select also affect ghrelin, leptin, and the satiety center of your brain.
