Erikson s Eight Psychosocial Stages Of Human Development
Discussions about identity most often than not begins with Erikson s formulation of the eight
psychosocial stages of human development. Each success that is achieved is caused due to the
completion or overcoming of a task or crisis. When a child grows into adolescence, he/she arrives at
the fifth stage of human development. Identityversus role confusion is examined and experienced as
the young adult either overcomes the task by developing an identity or by facing a crisis of
confusion. At this point, the teenager is dealing with a unified and consistent sense of self that
integrates pubertal changes into a mature sexual identity, assumes adult social and occupational
roles, and established personal values and attitudes The adolescent is... Show more content on

Because adolescence continues as long as society allows, the search for identity characterized by the
moratorium status may continue into young adulthood. In my opinion, if TCKs fall in the
moratorium status, it s not a negative result. Creating an identity for yourself when you are at that
age is struggle enough when you are situated in one culture for all of your existence; therefore it is
understandable that most TCKs find themselves taking longer in their identity crises than most
teenagers. The moratorium status allows TCKs to struggle through their crises without any need
for commitment. This may be seen as unhealthy but it is justifiable considering their confusion in
regards to their identity. The fourth status is diffusion, when adolescents avoid the challenge and
refuse to make a commitment. Most TCKs tend to fall in the last category. These developmental
tasks like making a commitment and handling a crisis tend to be interrupted due certain factors in
their lives. Due to these interruptions we see both early maturity and delayed adolescence in TCKs
which negatively affect their the development of their

The Phases Of Software Life Cycle From The Simula 67
INTRODUCTION
Over the past few decades, many software development methodologies have appeared and these
methodologies address most of the phases of software life cycle from requirements to maintenance.
In the last twenty years, there has been increasing popularity for object oriented programming.
Hence, the interest to research on object oriented methodologies has increased. Also, there has been
exponential growth due to the increase in number of software systems being described as object
oriented. Many programming languages, office information systems, system simulation and
artificial intelligence have adopted object oriented technology. It is an assumption that learning
specific development method or a set of tools.

Many languages were influenced by Simula 67 such as derivatives of LISP (CLOS), Smalltalk,
Pascal, and C++ Object.
The Smalltalk language:
Smalltalk was developed at Xerox PARC by Alan Kay and others in the 1970s. The term object
oriented programming was introduced to represent the extensive use of objects and messages as
the basis for computation. The ideas of Simula 67 have influenced the creators of Smalltalk.
However, Smalltalk was designed to be more dynamic system in which classes could be created
dynamically rather than static classes like in Simula 67. In August 1981, Byte Magazine has
introduced object based techniques via the Lisp machine to the developers. Integration of functional
programming and Object oriented programming via Meta object protocol were results of
experimentation on extensions to Lisp. Attempts were made design processor architectures that
included hardware support for objects in memory which was unsuccessful. A purely object
oriented language by name Eiffel was first designed by Bertrand Meyer in the year 1985. Eiffel is
not only a programming language but also supports entire software lifecycle. The concepts of Eiffel
were explained by Meyer based on key ideas in computer science, software engineering and Object
Oriented Software Construction. In early and mid1990s, object oriented programming was
developed as the dominant programming methodology. During this period, when

Harm Of Technology
Twenty first century technology has transformed society and the way individuals live. Many
people are so concerned with their lives on the web that they fail to see that it is another way to
be used as a control over people. The internet is being used as a way to separate and regulate
what people can or cannot see. In Fences of Enclosure, Windows of Possibility Naomi Klein,
explains how there are fences around public resources, and turning them into privatization. Making
it hard for low income families to afford them. In Democracy in Cyberspace: What Technology Can
and Cannot Do for Us Ian Bremmer, expresses while the internethas given power to people that are

Government officials are interested in making a large profit, placing fences around resources.
For instance, the government changing up the policy for money There is a real if invisible
fence that goes up around clean water in Soweto when prices skyrocket owing to privatization,
and residents are forced to turn to contaminated sources. (Klein196) The government officials
seem to have lost their way. The reason for doing politics is to make a change and make the lives
of others something great. Now it is just who can pay out the most money. Turning good and
clean public resources into a business is forcing others into doing some horrendous things.
Forcing the people that can barely afford a decent pair of shoes to pay for something that they
have a right to. It is a wonder that people are so atrocious that they are willing to have other
human beings drink water that can cause damage to major organs. Not only can politicians place
borders around natural resources, but they can also place it on the internet. A Chinese web user
isn t sure if what they read is the truth or if it is someone working to push political beliefs The
government has created the 50 Cent Party, an army of online commentators that it pays for each

subjects. This is a simple, inexpensive way for governments to disseminate and disguise

Three Things Learned From Plato s Apology
Apologies Are the New Teachers
(Three things Learned from Plato s Apology)
There are many writers, authors, and speakers in this world that are considered among the greats,
but perhaps the greatest two of western speculation are Plato and Socrates. These two hand in hand
had a huge influence on American Literature and others as well. Perhaps one of the most
remarkable writings of Plato, since Socrates never once himself wrote anything down, is his writing
of Apology. The writings of Apology showed some of Socrates final moments, how he carried
himself, and most importantly what he said. Socrates was perhaps one of the most intellectual and
perceptive minds that ever lived this life, and he had many important ideas and most specifically
questions. There are many important things to be derived and learned from the writings of Plato,
and voice of Socrates. From Plato s Apology I learned three important things; how to question
society, how to defend oneself with poise, and most importantly, That the unexamined life is not
worth living. according to Socrates.
To begin, one of the important things i learned from Plato s Apology is that it s okay to question
society. Socrates himself questioned everyone, questioned the mind, made his pupils think, which
is why I think one of the most important things to take away from this piece is how he made you
think, how he questioned everything that you thought was stable until you realize that nothing
around is actually even set in

Impact Of Sales Promotion On Long Term Shareholder
Impact assessment of Sales Promotion on long term shareholder wealth in Retailing Industry
Introduction
Retailing has been an important industry in any country. History would indicate that its form has
changed with time as competition was no more a local phenomenon. Retailers started moving from
being neighbourhood stores to expand their horizons nationally as well as internationally.
Technology brought revolution in the retail industry with the advent of internet. Online retailers
today have become a common part of everyone s life. Mobile commerce too has started growing
with the innovation of App Stores brought by Google and Apple. In this face of retailing,
competitors have pushed themselves to gain more market share by trying ... Show more content on

This research aims to test the impact of sales promotion on generation of profits and shareholder
wealth maximization.
Research Objectives
The research undertaken would have 3 main objectives:
1.To study and understand the sales promotion activities carried out by retailers
2.To study its impact on sales and profits of the company
3.To study the impact of such promotional activities on shareholder wealth
Research Questions
The research will try to address the below questions in a sequential manner in order to assess actual
impact:
1.What sales promotion activities are carried out by participants in the retail industry?
2.What are the effects of sales promotion on the sales of the retailers?
3.What are the effects of the sales generated by sales promotion on the profits of the retailers?
4.What are the effects of sales promotion activities on long term shareholder wealth?
Literature Review
Marketers have come to identify that advertising alone is not always enough to move their products
into the hands of consumers. Sales promotion is used to ensure that customers are aware of the
products that organizations offer. Sales promotional activities were originally intended as short term
incentive aimed at producing immediate consumer buying responses. Consumer promotions are
short term incentives targeted directly at consumers and they include: buy one get one free, price
discount, event sponsorship, coupons,

Ticks In Oklahoma
In Oklahoma many residents spend time in heavily populated areas with
ticks. Almost all the land in Oklahoma is owned by private individuals such as farmers, ranchers
and average citizens. This means that more Oklahoman s are at risk of coming in contact with
ticks. Prevention through education is the key to ensure less people become infected every year.
With this in mind knowing the source of the disease, how its transmitted, early detection, treatment
and prevention steps will decrease the number of cases each year. Since we are at a higher risk its
our responsibility to inform locals of the potential hazards that lurk in our back yards.
Lyme Disease comes from a line of bacteria called Borrelia Burgdorferi which originated during
the ice age in Europe. Lyme disease cases are mainly reported in the northeastern states. This blood
borne pathogen can only survive inside a host such as a tick. The Ixodes tick commonly known as
the black legged tick or deer ticks become infected transmitting Lyme Disease through their bite.
Unexpected hosts such as deer, fox, possum, raccoons, horses, cattle, small rodents, pets and even
humans can be easy targets for ticks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

others notice as early as 3 days. The main indication of infection is a circular rash

Examples Of Power In All Quiet On The Western Front
Power in All Quiet on the Western Front
There are many people in the world that have power. Their power is impactful to the people
under them and maybe big enough for things like countries and the world. This is a big idea that
Erich Remarque had when he was writing All Quiet on the Western Front. The war in the novel
and the soldiers who take place in it are greatly impacted by the people who have control over
them. The soldiers do not agree or like how they run things. A larger theme in All Quiet on the
Western Front by Erich Remarque is power is bad because instinct takes over.
The first reason that this is a larger theme found in the novel is because in the passage where Kat
is talking about his drill sergeant and how he is so mean. He explains that it is in our human
nature to want to have control because they do the best in life. On the march back the order to
sing is given again, and once more we start. Now what s the use of all that? It s simply that the
company commander s head has been turned by having so much power (Remarque 44). This is a
great way that the character explained how power takes control over people and shows other
people that they are of high importance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the passage, the character Kat explains that the army that they are a part of is ran on the fact
that one man must have power over another (Remarque 44). This is not a good way to run things
according to the book because people have no sympathy for what is happening and sometimes do
not even know what is going on. A non com, can torment a private, a lieutenant a non com, a
captain a lieutenant, until he goes mad. And because they know they can, they all soon acquire the
habit more or less (Remarque 44). The range of power shows how long this the army has been run

Lustre Jug Analysis
Formal Analysis of a Lustre Jug Dated to 1185, the lustre jug is made of glazed terracotta by an
unknown artist. Despite its age, the jug is remarkably whole, missing only a small fragment on
its rim. In order to view all its designs, viewers would have to observe the jug from multiple
angles. This essay will analyse how the artist used lines, shape, and colour to explore the
dichotomy of containment and stasis in contrast to energy and movement. The jug has a limited
but warm colour palette of mostly brown and white, which imbues it with a dignified and
understated elegance. Despite its restrained earthy colours that suggest stability, the use of spirals
and kinaesthetic imagery evokes the ideas of energy and movement. Upon closer observation,
viewers notice that the lustre of the jug has cracked in several places and acquired different hues
in other spots, probably due to age. Such subtle changes in colour, in addition to its glossy surface,
slightly dramatize the muted main colours of the jug. This adds to a feeling of dynamism that
paradoxically emanates from a stationary object.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It appears rather squat, with a large horizontally bulging middle. The jug is symmetrical,
composed of a vertical axis that runs downwards along the handle from the neck to its base.
However, the middle portion of the jug has a horizontal pattern that disrupts the harmony of its
symmetric shape. This dissonance between the volumetric and exterior properties of the jug
instils it with a semblance of volatility, diminishing the sense of balance achieved by its
symmetrical shape. Viewers would also notice that the jug s interior is glazed along its rim. The
artist may have done so deliberately to make the jug more aesthetically appealing when viewed
from a distance, as there would be a completed and symmetrical brown

The Rocking-Horse Winner, By D. H. Lawrence
This story is D. H. Lawrence s most grounded prosecution of realism and his most grounded
exhibition of the contrariness of the adoration for cash and the affection for individuals. In Paul s
troubled family, his folks marriage is inadmissible. His mom is sexually baffled: She had bonny
youngsters, yet she felt they had been pushed onto her. Clearly, she feels not satisfied, but rather
disregarded. The story tends to a couple of the subjects Lawrence is most exceptional for well,
some of them in any occasion. While it does exclude the same unequivocal sexuality that made
Lawrence notorious in his day, much like Sons and Lovers, The Rocking Horse Winner focuses an

New South Wales Public Education System
In 1866 New South Wales enacted the Public Schools Act that aimed to address government
spending on education, resulting in government schools receiving priority over denominational
schools, and providing access to education for the growing number of communities across the
colony . The Catholics opposed this move as it was hostile to the their belief in their own system of
educationand Catholic puritans helped fuel the fire of sectarianism, which continued to make state
aid for church run schools a highly controversial issue . However, times were changing as by the
1870s, in New South Wales, up to sixty per cent of Catholic schoolchildren attended state schools .
Conflict escalated again in 1879 when the new Catholic Archbishop, Vaughan, denounced the state
schools of New South Wales describing them as seed plots of future immorality, infidelity and
lawlessness and accused them of squeezing very gradually and almost imperceptibly the Catholic
faith out of Catholic people. In response the Parkes government enacted the Public Instruction Act
of 1880, which resulted in primary education becoming nominally compulsory, cheap, widespread,
and removed all state aid to denominational schools . Again the Catholics responded negatively to
the decision, which aided in preserving the Catholic identity, although this came at the cost of
making themselves a distinctive sub culture in the Australian community . Despite this, Henry
Parkes, premier of New South Wales, gave a speech in 1885, and instead of condemning the
Catholics for being different,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Summary On The Sunset Manicure
Kleancolor Metallics sunset manicure.
This is the sister manicure to my Kleancolor purple/ blue peacock. These metallic polishes,
simply named Metallic Orange and Metallic Yellow , apply as smoothly and easily as the blue
and purple. The consistency was the same, thick, but not too thick. These polishes are 2 coaters,
but they go on reasonably opaque with the first coat. Meaning if you re short on time, you could get
away with a few thick swipes. Here I used the same gradient technique, applying one coat of the
yellow polish and gradually blending yellow to orange. I sponged on a bit of Sally Hansen s
Copper Penny to the tips to give the orange polish a bit of sparkle. You know I love to sparkle!
Gradient tutorial: For this tutorial I used colors that obviously don t go together so that you can see
how to make a seamless blend.
[use purple and green, one thick and dark, the other thinner and light.]
First step: After you apply your base coat, your first color coat should ordinarily be the lightest of
the polishes you ve chosen for your gradient. I say usually because there are plenty of times when
you might want to use a darker base color and sponge a lighter color over it. Since this is a basic
tutorial, however, I ll keep it simple.
[pic of nails with base color]
While you re waiting for that coat of color to dry, I suggest applying a latex type coating or a
homemade glue mix to the skin around your nails. You could use tape also.

Grief And Pain
According to Leming and Dickerson (2011) Grief and pain is a common part of everyone s life
and should be expected at one point or another. As I once stated, there comes a time in life where
the helper will need to be comforted, the provider will need to be tended to and the strong will
need to be strengthened. For me, this time came while I was at the age of 21 years old. After I
married, I became with child and shortly found out that I was carrying twins. This was one of

Not thinking much of it at the time due to the fact I had just exerted all of my energy bringing
them into this world, I allowed the nurses to perform their post delivery duties. Not a few
minutes hence, the doctor delivered my baby girl and boy to me and told me that I had given birth
to stillborn children. In layman s terms, they were deceased upon delivery. How could this be, I
asked myself. Instantly I was numb, I had no feeling toward anything. Although this was a painful
event for me, the real grief did not set in until about 30 days later. I remembered reading that to
understand the nature of a loss as it relates to a fetus, we must remember that relationship of a child
and parent starts way before the birth (Leming and Dickerson, 2011). Also, they stated that no
matter where in the life cycle death occurs, it is never easy for the survivor to make the
adjustment. Well, for me losing a baby before it even had a chance to experience what it was
like to inhale their first breath of fresh air seemed completely unfair. I found myself upset with
God; and felt as if He failed me. In my mind, this could not be happening to me. I am used to
helping others get through rough times in life, now I find myself on the opposite end of the
spectrum. Instead of comforting others, I needed to be comforted which what Leming and
Dickerson (2011) emphasized to their readers. My friends constantly tried to encourage me with
Romans 8:28, And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him,
who have been called according to his purpose (King James Version). This was the last thing I

Understanding The Chinese Culture Of A Chinese Patient
Many health care professionals think that if patients are just treated with respect, then cultural
issues will be avoided. That statement is not the correct. Five points of area that affect nursing care
when taking care of a Chinese patient, are the cultural beliefs with medical treatments, who and
when to discuss the prognosis and medical treatment to, dietary beliefs, pregnancies beliefs, and
death and dying. Many Chinese people believe in traditional Chinese medical treatments, and if the
doctors and nurses disregard their beliefs, then that could lead to mistrust. Chinese people may try
traditional approaches first, and then seek medical care if they fail. Communication barriers may
delay patients from getting medical treatment. Cross cultural communication skills are extremely
important to avoid miscommunication. A couple accommodations needed in nursing care would be
to take some extra time to build a rapport with the patient before discussing any medical issues.
Recognize how the Chinese cultureviews doctors and nurses, and encourage the patient to ask
questions, and give them a chance to answer the questions. In the Chinese culture, when the patient
is slow to respond to a question, or seems to be hesitant, it is simply a sign that respect is being
given to the person that is asking the question (Cross Cultural Communications for Healthcare
Professionals, 2015). Chinese people speak in low volume and considered Americans to speak
loud, so health care

How Did Volkswagen Change Canada
ast night, the headline in a prominent German paper read that the Volkswagen compliance chief,
Mrs. Hohmann Dennhardt, will receive 12 million euro payout for quitting her job that was to run
until the end of 2018. She had been hired to clean up Volkswagen s damaged image brought about
by diesel emissions scandal. A challenging undertaking with millions of disgruntled customers

the contract (Germis Knop, 2017). The same week, the local CBC radio station in Ottawa

The Canadian innovation commercialization program was developed in 2012 (Government
Services Canada, 2017). To develop leadership and talent for innovation, the think tank also
suggested a national learning strategy to raise the average competency level of Canadians. This
policy suggestion has not been put into action which may give support to the forum discussion,
where it was suggested that countries are shifting their educational responsibility towards greater
privatization and commercialization (Regmi, 2017, February 1). By handing over educational
responsibilities to commercial forces, Canada may evade the long established responsibility of
OECD countries to follow fundamental educational values based on social justice and equality
(Brown Tannok, 2009). At a local level and as an educator and parent, I see no indication that
schooling is preparing students for innovation and creativity. Even when influenced by
constructivist or universal design ideas, school tasks starting in elementary school, up until
CEGEP are generally highly structured, predictable and offered in cookie cutter format. There is
little room for creativity and few subjects are regularly offered, such as music or visual arts, that
support creativity and out of the box thinking to allow for a more well rounded approach to
education as suggested in the discussion forum (Hector,

The Politics Of The 1960s And 1960s
As political climates change, so do the themes found within cinema. The 1960s and 1970s were a
time of change for America. Feminism, civil rights movements, and gay rights movements were
all progressing, and liberal values were becoming more and more prevalent among the younger
generation. For conservatives, the 60s and 70s were seen as a time of decline; as a low point in
American history, and a time of regression in American society. The progressive and liberal values
were not positive changes for all Americans, but the changes were coming about nonetheless.
However, in the late 1970 s and the 1980 s there was a dramatic shift in the themes found in
American cinema that reflected the neo conservative political changes. With the... Show more

312) Stallone s character is the archetypal male hero tough, confident, and above the law (though
it s alright because he is the hero saving the day). On the other hand, the female lead (played by
Brigitte Nielson) is the archetypal damsel in distress beautiful, but unable to take care of herself
as she is rescued in the end by the male lead. The scene where Brigitte Nielson is saved by
Sylvester Stallone as a masculine, patriotic song plays behind them reflects the patriarchal ideals of
the 1950s. The idea that men are above women; the idea that women need to be saved; the idea that
women cannot help themselves. These demonstrated ideals set back the progress in feminism that
was established throughout the 60s and 70s. Furthermore, in terms of attacking the audience,
Needham puts an emphasis on the opening credits of this film, and for good reason. The opening
credits are used as a tactic to manipulate the American audience; to make them feel as if they are
being threatened. The film begins with a barrel of a gun being pointed at the audience, as Sylvester
Stallone s voice is listing American crime statistics in the background. At the end of the credits, the
gun fires a slow motion bullet towards the audience. On this, Needham says, we, the audience,
America, are quite literally under attack. (Needham, 2016, p. 313) This symbolism reappears at the
end of the film, where the American audience is once again

Demise of the Weimar Republic
The demise of the Weimar Republic did not occur due to one sole reason, but because of a number
of short and long term factors. The economic, political and international pressure placed on the
people of Germany ensured the loathing of the forced governmental rule. The immediate impact of
the Great Depression of 1929, which has been debated and considered by most historians to be the
dominant factor in the downfall of the democratic experiment which subsequently led to continuous
political instability ultimately saw the collapse of the first democratic government of Germany.
Some historians generally blame the fall of the Republic on president von Hindenburg s abuse of
constitutional powers. Historian David Martin states that the ... Show more content on

Before the US dollar has been 4.2 marks, by 1920 it was worth 64.8 marks thus German taxation
increased. Anyone with access to even a few pounds became a trillionaires over night. The
losers of the hyperinflation were those with a fixed income, the working class, people living off
their savings and wage earners. By June 1923, the government had lost control of the economy, as
strikes swepped the country as workers protested about the rising unemployment and the failure of
their wages to keep up with the cost of living. In August, the govenment finally fell, with
President Ebert called for the leader of the German people party, Streseman, to form a new party.
He formed the great coalition which brought together left and right wing. In the next six years,
German society picked up with the induction into the League of Nations, the Dawes plan of 1924
which provided foreign loans to Germany and the Young Plan which saw the reduction in Germany
s reparation figure by 95 million. The downside of Germany s new economic prosperity meant that
society was living off borrowed money and was over dependant on foreign loans and investment.
The economic power was concentrated in the hands of influential industrialists and bankers and
employment was still on the rise. Within these six years, the Weimar republicsurprisingly enjoyed a
period of relative political stability.

arketing and the media effect on young people s decisions significantly. This is largely through the
use of marketing strategies and advertising techniques which play on several key factors in order to
win over their intended audience. These factors include trends, bandwagon, claims, association,
promotion, as well as appeal and many others. By employing these strategies companies aim to
coax, even sometimes completely mislead young people into buying their products. This is evident
in the Kellogg s Special K advertisement.
Throughout the advertisement, a variety of techniques are used to entice the audience in this case
young women into buying the product. For instance, in the ad bright colours such as red and pink
are worn by the female actors in contrast with dull, fruitless white walls. This captures/retains the
viewer s attention, directing it towards the actors slim, idealistic physiques. Consequently, the
advertisement creates an image that those who eat Special K enjoy an ideal body, thus establishing
appeal for the product from many young women.
Another example of marketing strategies during the ad is the use of pathos (emotional appeal). For
instance, the ad slogan you don t just wake up looking fabulous implies that the viewer needs

Cholera Outbreak In Henry Whitehead s The Ghost Map
In the book The Ghost Map, cholera was going into a massive outbreak in London during 1854.
The story begins as one of the characters, baby Lewis, Contracts cholera, and when the mother
washes diapers and cleans for the baby, she throws the water into the street. This leads to the
outbreak. While the Board of Health believed the smell of the city was the cause of the outbreak,
there was another citizen who believed otherwise. Henry Whitehead was a doctor who began to
specialize in anesthesiology. Meanwhile, John Snowwas researching his own theories, and he
worked his way through the city to locate where high volumes of people were dying. While he
was doing his research he began making a map, and he graphed where people were dying. Each

From the book, it can be learned to keep cities clean and find ways to dispose of all human
waste. It can also be learned that from this book people can begin to understand confirmation
bias. When doing research people often only find information to back their hypothesis, and what
needs to happen is the researcher must look at the data from every angle so they can find the
truth. The map itself also led to the creation of Geographic Information Systems. GISs are
extremely helpful in today s society because it can help show data in a new form that is easier to
understand. It also makes it to where different data can be layered. Also a lot can be learned
about data collection from this book. John Snow had a lot of data to collect, and he also had to
find ways to graph it. He could have just as easily wrote down all the addresses and how many
people died there, but he chose to make the map, and it made it possible to physically see where
the concentration was. All of these things that was discussed throughout the seminar, the book,
and timelines taught me a lot. I leaned that zooming in and out of data can change its perspective
monumentally, and it makes it where you could prove a point even if when you back up, the
same point would not be made. I also learned that we use GIS every day, and we do not even
realize it. Finally, it taught me to never take advantage of

Lord Of The Flies Themes
GoldingВґs book The Lord of the Flies has many different background meanings to it. Two themes
that some critics think of are that people are born with evil already in them and that there is no
hope for humanity. These themes are shown throughout the book in what the characters say and
do. In this book there are many conflicts where the boys bully each other in an inhumane way,
which shows how evil they really are. Also the boys lose hope for being rescued and start to go
back to the more primitive ways of mankind. Golding definitely comes across in his work as
some who may think that there is no hope for mankind and that all people are born with evil in
them. One of the first examples of there being a theme for no hope for humanity is what Piggy
first says to Ralph. Ralph and Piggy are arguing (pg. 14) and Piggy says They re all
dead...Nobody don t know we re here. Your dad don t know, nobody don t know. When he says
this, Piggy shows the reader that he thinks there is no hope for them to be rescued from the
island. To some people, Golding may be hinting that there is no hope for people to be rescued
from times of war. War seems to be ongoing, when one war ends another war begins. Until people
end wars there is no hope for peace in the world.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

it shows a more primitive side of humans, in the way that instead of working something out, they
decide to eliminate the problem all together. Golding makes it seem as if he thinks that humans will
start to go back to their original state and that there is no hope that people will

The Tragedy Of The Iliad
Homer in The Iliad explained the scenes of the Trojan War. Both sides had many great heroes to
fight. The Greeks had Menelaus and Achilles. Trojans had Hector and God like Paris. Even
though heroes on both sides had many qualities, but I chose Hector as my partner. I chose Hector
to defend me on the fields of Troy in battle.
Hector was prince of Troy. He was son of Priam and brother of God like Paris. Even though he
had a lot of qualities to be chosen as a partner, the main reason I chose him as my partner is that
he never forget his duties, he always did the right thing, and he always remind his other Trojan
fellows about their duties. Following are some of the scenes from The Iliad which served as the
reasons why I chose him as my partner in the battle.
God like Paris with the help of Aphrodite got Helen and vanished from the fields. The Trojans
were feeling insecure as their leader left them at the battle fields alone and was having a good
time with Helen. Hector was the one who went to Paris and reminded him of his duties and told
him that how his deeds made The Trojans ashamed of themselves in front of The Greeks. Hector
said, Evil hearted Paris, beautiful to look upon, woman mad and false of tongue. How much
better if you had never been! Better far than to bring shame on us like this. Now the long haired
Greeks will laugh at us and say that our beautiful hero has no heart in him or courage. (Homer 48)

Digital Convergence Impact On The Film Industry
Media changes drastically over short periods of time because of digital convergence. Just in the
past decades it has become much more advanced and useful for people all around the world. There
has been an extreme advance in media technology, especially that used in film industry. This
includes the creation of analog to digital converters, technology convergence, and the changes in the
media industry and audiences. In this article, I will analysis how digital convergence impact on the
filmindustry structure, forms of consumption with the innovation of revenue models and cultural
production.
Industry Structure
In the digital era of convergent media, the most obvious about the change of cinema is the storage
which rely on celluloid that you can touch in the past. Now, however, it is stored as electronic
packets of 1s and 0s which is virtual. The changes of the cinema is not only about the film storage,
but also the productionпјЊpost production, exhibition and distribution which is the main part of the
film industry structure. In the era of celluloid, the four steps of movie is relatively independent and
has its sequence. In digital movie, whereas, the connection and integration among four parts of
industry structure are ever close.

The Perception That Our Capacity
The perception that our capacity (as youths) to learn and our capacity to lead are mutually
exclusive, and that to fulfill our potential to serve the country we must surrender our profound
potential to leadership, that we can be the engine that drives innovation and solves complex
societal problems but our capacity for leadership and wisdom is somehow limited is a false and
suffocating judgment. This ideology has destroyed the youths ability to be present in our nation
s leadership. The youths present a passionate and obscure hunger for success An unshakable will
for prosperity. It is the responsibility of the society to capture this youthful enthusiasm for
leadership before they lose it to rioting confusion of life the blot and blur of years. For age brings
with it a strangeness of destiny that stabs the red waste of youthfulness with fear. A leader that
spends five years in office and has no thing to show for it at the end of the day is strange enough,
but the voters who vote for such a leader once again are touched by the dark miracle of folly. If, in
contrast, the voters change their view not simply looking out for the best candidate but embracing
them outright then the balance between the competing political forces that has so long favored the
incompetent leader will tilt away from him. And if this balance tilts away from incompetent
leadership, especially in Africa, it would result in the development of a peaceful, democratic and
prosperous society.

Throughout this time the globalization of trade, the movement of people and the spread of
infectious disease has grown, exponentially since the end of WWII. Where ocean going ships once
dominated, air travel and cargo transportation has grown to have a profound impact on global
health. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) estimates that eight million people

opportunities for infected travelers to spread disease and antimicrobial resistance, in route to and at

As a carrier of disease, air transportation poses a serious threat to global health. Government

opportunities for spreading infectious disease by monitoring aircraft and performing routine

Advantages Of College Tuitions
College tuitions is way too high in our country. They say that suny colleges tuitions are cheaper
but it s not they are still around $35000 to $60000 that s a lot for a student to take on. There are
scholarships that a student can apply for but if you think about it how many students are apply for
it that s a big chance that you don t get it. If you do get one it s not even enough to cover your
collegetuition. The scholarship aren t for that much say if the scholarship if for 5,000 and the
school that you re going to is 35000 so a student still has to come up with 30,000 and that s a lot for
a college student. A scholarship isn t going to be enough to cover the student s college tuition. Also
Granted to understudies at schools, colleges, and exchange schools in the United States, budgetary
help comes in three essential structures: stipends (additionally alluded to as grants or corporations)
that are endowments that don t need to be reimbursed; understudy credits that regularly offer low,
sponsored loancosts however should be reimbursed; and work study or assistantships in which
understudies work for their monetary guide grant. Albeit numerous private gatherings support
grants, most by far of money related guide originates from the central government, schools and
colleges, and state governments.
One of the inside stage issues of this presidential political season has concerned the moderateness of
school instruction. Previous President Obama attempted to push ahead on

My High School Poem By Alvin Schwartz
the fifth grade is not as fun as they advertise. she said at the beginning we would be doing
science experiments and all that junk, but that stuff has not occurred and the year is almost
over. I was reading scary stories poems by alvin schwartz. It was ten minutes before the bell rang
and the whole room was silent. Normally they would be scurrying for their stuff and
mrs.morgan would be complaining, but this day is different, everybody seems more tranquill I
kept reading my favorite poem over and over, it was in my (at the time) favorite book , called
scary stories treasury by alvin schwartz. the ghost with bloody fingers was my most loved poem in
that book . I hear a slight thud, i look up and everyone was getting their things, it was two minutes
to the bell. i... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
when i got to the bottom i tried not to walk past the principle, he was so cheesy, i never knew
why they replaced mrs.galbreath. I walked outside and felt the cold autumn air on my face. i
never bring a coat (hence why i get sick all the time) i feel better without one. I sat on the huge
lawn in front of the school. I don t have any friends at this school. I can t trust anyone here not
even the one person i grew up knowing. My phone turned on and i got a text from my mom.
Almost there I smiled. My mom is like my best friend, We were inseparable. and we still are to
this very day. I watched and waited as the littler kids got picked up in the little narrow driveway
they had in front of the school. I saw my moms car at the end of the line, i saved her some
headache and walked to the car, she looked nervous, and i knew exactly why. Mom had been
talking about divorcing dad for months now. She attempted it once but dad didn t think she would
go through with it (which she didn t ). So she is trying again tonight, i am just scared where me ,
my mom, and my dog storm are going to end up. Hey mom i said with a positive

Essay on Gatsby and Daisy
In F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, Jay Gatsby was born into a life of poverty and as he grew
up he became more aware of the possibility of a better life. He created fantasies that he was too
good for his modest life and that his parents weren t his own. When he met Daisy, a pretty upper
class girl, his life revolved around her and he became obsessed with her carefree lifestyle. Gatsby
s desire to become good enough for Daisy and her parents is what motivates him to become a
wealthy, immoral person who is perceived as being sophisticated.
Society won t let Gatsby and Daisy be together when they fall in love because Daisy comes from a
family of old wealth, while Gatsby is the son of peasants. For over a year, as a young man, he ...

Gatsby is then reminded of his low status when Daisy s mother ...had found her packing her bag
one winter night to go to New York and say goodbye to a soldier who was going overseas. She
was effectually prevented, but she wasn t on speaking terms with her family for several weeks.
(75) From that moment Gatsby becomes motivated to become one of the wealthy elite in order to
win Daisy and her family.
In Gatsby s mission to attain wealth, power, and status he loses sight of his morals through his
dealings with various shady people that are rumored to be lucrative and illegal. The extent of
Gatsby s criminal activities is confirmed by Tom Buchanan one hot summer night when Tom
shares that Gatsby and Wolfsheim bought up a lot of side street drug stores...and sold grain
alcohol over the counter, (133) an illegal venture during prohibition. In addition to Gatsby s
business investments, his obsession with winning Daisy clouds his mind with thoughts of
inspiring her to leave her husband and abandoned her child. Nick believes Gatsby would want
nothing less of Daisy than that she should go to Tom and say: I never loved you, (109) and prove
her marriage was a sham.
Gatsby s wealth makes others perceive him as sophisticated and possibly intellectual yet his
demeanor and speech reveal his history. Born of simple farmers Gatsby never learned the subtle
mannerisms and social cues of the upper class whereas Daisy sounds like her voice is full of
money. (120) The only

Stereotyped In Richard Wright s Black Boy
I have recently completed Black Boy by Richard Wright, and believe it would be a great addition
to the tenth grade curriculum. Black Boy is an autobiography about the author Richard Wright s
life. It begins with four year old Richard setting his house on fire, which instantly draws in the
reader. From there Richard leads the reader through his life of poverty and loneliness. We
experience his losses as well as his gains in the world. Most importantly, throughout the book, we
see a different side of all races than we normally see in the books written by the dead white men.
Like the rhymes Richard created with the neighborhood kids to taunt the jews. We black
children seven, eight, and nine years of age used to run to the Jew s stores and shout: Jew Jew,
Jew what do you chew? (Wright 60,61). This book allows us to experience how it was to be black
during the Jim Crow era. This is something we are not introduced to in the current curriculum for
American Literature Advanced or English 10. Throughout this year we read books mostly written
by dead white men. Some do not have any content relating to black people, like the Scarlet Letter by
Nathaniel Hawthorne. While others contain stereotyped black... Show more content on

This is something that the dead white men we usually read books by cannot do. They never
experienced being a black boy, confused why a man who isn t your father would beat you. They
didn t have to be afraid of how they walked or talked around people. They never had to grow up
being told where they shall stay in the world. Therefore, we have to read this book, not as a
burden but a gift. It is a gift that after all they have faced they are willing to share their stories with

  • 2. Erikson s Eight Psychosocial Stages Of Human Development Discussions about identity most often than not begins with Erikson s formulation of the eight psychosocial stages of human development. Each success that is achieved is caused due to the completion or overcoming of a task or crisis. When a child grows into adolescence, he/she arrives at the fifth stage of human development. Identityversus role confusion is examined and experienced as the young adult either overcomes the task by developing an identity or by facing a crisis of confusion. At this point, the teenager is dealing with a unified and consistent sense of self that integrates pubertal changes into a mature sexual identity, assumes adult social and occupational roles, and established personal values and attitudes The adolescent is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because adolescence continues as long as society allows, the search for identity characterized by the moratorium status may continue into young adulthood. In my opinion, if TCKs fall in the moratorium status, it s not a negative result. Creating an identity for yourself when you are at that age is struggle enough when you are situated in one culture for all of your existence; therefore it is understandable that most TCKs find themselves taking longer in their identity crises than most teenagers. The moratorium status allows TCKs to struggle through their crises without any need for commitment. This may be seen as unhealthy but it is justifiable considering their confusion in regards to their identity. The fourth status is diffusion, when adolescents avoid the challenge and refuse to make a commitment. Most TCKs tend to fall in the last category. These developmental tasks like making a commitment and handling a crisis tend to be interrupted due certain factors in their lives. Due to these interruptions we see both early maturity and delayed adolescence in TCKs which negatively affect their the development of their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Phases Of Software Life Cycle From The Simula 67 INTRODUCTION Over the past few decades, many software development methodologies have appeared and these methodologies address most of the phases of software life cycle from requirements to maintenance. In the last twenty years, there has been increasing popularity for object oriented programming. Hence, the interest to research on object oriented methodologies has increased. Also, there has been exponential growth due to the increase in number of software systems being described as object oriented. Many programming languages, office information systems, system simulation and artificial intelligence have adopted object oriented technology. It is an assumption that learning specific development method or a set of tools. HISTORY OF ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many languages were influenced by Simula 67 such as derivatives of LISP (CLOS), Smalltalk, Pascal, and C++ Object. The Smalltalk language: Smalltalk was developed at Xerox PARC by Alan Kay and others in the 1970s. The term object oriented programming was introduced to represent the extensive use of objects and messages as the basis for computation. The ideas of Simula 67 have influenced the creators of Smalltalk. However, Smalltalk was designed to be more dynamic system in which classes could be created dynamically rather than static classes like in Simula 67. In August 1981, Byte Magazine has introduced object based techniques via the Lisp machine to the developers. Integration of functional programming and Object oriented programming via Meta object protocol were results of experimentation on extensions to Lisp. Attempts were made design processor architectures that included hardware support for objects in memory which was unsuccessful. A purely object oriented language by name Eiffel was first designed by Bertrand Meyer in the year 1985. Eiffel is not only a programming language but also supports entire software lifecycle. The concepts of Eiffel were explained by Meyer based on key ideas in computer science, software engineering and Object Oriented Software Construction. In early and mid1990s, object oriented programming was developed as the dominant programming methodology. During this period, when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Three Things Learned From Plato s Apology Apologies Are the New Teachers (Three things Learned from Plato s Apology) There are many writers, authors, and speakers in this world that are considered among the greats, but perhaps the greatest two of western speculation are Plato and Socrates. These two hand in hand had a huge influence on American Literature and others as well. Perhaps one of the most remarkable writings of Plato, since Socrates never once himself wrote anything down, is his writing of Apology. The writings of Apology showed some of Socrates final moments, how he carried himself, and most importantly what he said. Socrates was perhaps one of the most intellectual and perceptive minds that ever lived this life, and he had many important ideas and most specifically questions. There are many important things to be derived and learned from the writings of Plato, and voice of Socrates. From Plato s Apology I learned three important things; how to question society, how to defend oneself with poise, and most importantly, That the unexamined life is not worth living. according to Socrates. To begin, one of the important things i learned from Plato s Apology is that it s okay to question society. Socrates himself questioned everyone, questioned the mind, made his pupils think, which is why I think one of the most important things to take away from this piece is how he made you think, how he questioned everything that you thought was stable until you realize that nothing around is actually even set in ... Almost all the land in Oklahoma is owned by private individuals such as farmers, ranchers and average citizens. This means that more Oklahoman s are at risk of coming in contact with ticks. Prevention through education is the key to ensure less people become infected every year. With this in mind knowing the source of the disease, how its transmitted, early detection, treatment and prevention steps will decrease the number of cases each year. Since we are at a higher risk its our responsibility to inform locals of the potential hazards that lurk in our back yards. Lyme Disease comes from a line of bacteria called Borrelia Burgdorferi which originated during the ice age in Europe. Lyme disease cases are mainly reported in the northeastern states. This blood borne pathogen can only survive inside a host such as a tick. Their power is impactful to the people under them and maybe big enough for things like countries and the world. This is a big idea that Erich Remarque had when he was writing All Quiet on the Western Front. The war in the novel and the soldiers who take place in it are greatly impacted by the people who have control over them. The soldiers do not agree or like how they run things. A larger theme in All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Remarque is power is bad because instinct takes over. The first reason that this is a larger theme found in the novel is because in the passage where Kat is talking about his drill sergeant and how he is so mean. He explains that it is in our human nature to want to have control because they do the best in life. On the march back the order to sing is given again, and once more we start. Despite its age, the jug is remarkably whole, missing only a small fragment on its rim. In order to view all its designs, viewers would have to observe the jug from multiple angles. This essay will analyse how the artist used lines, shape, and colour to explore the dichotomy of containment and stasis in contrast to energy and movement. The jug has a limited but warm colour palette of mostly brown and white, which imbues it with a dignified and understated elegance. Despite its restrained earthy colours that suggest stability, the use of spirals and kinaesthetic imagery evokes the ideas of energy and movement. Upon closer observation, viewers notice that the lustre of the jug has cracked in several places and acquired different hues in other spots, probably due to age. Such subtle changes in colour, in addition to its glossy surface, slightly dramatize the muted main colours of the jug. New South Wales Public Education System In 1866 New South Wales enacted the Public Schools Act that aimed to address government spending on education, resulting in government schools receiving priority over denominational schools, and providing access to education for the growing number of communities across the colony . The Catholics opposed this move as it was hostile to the their belief in their own system of educationand Catholic puritans helped fuel the fire of sectarianism, which continued to make state aid for church run schools a highly controversial issue . However, times were changing as by the 1870s, in New South Wales, up to sixty per cent of Catholic schoolchildren attended state schools . Conflict escalated again in 1879 when the new Catholic Archbishop, Vaughan, denounced the state schools of New South Wales describing them as seed plots of future immorality, infidelity and lawlessness and accused them of squeezing very gradually and almost imperceptibly the Catholic faith out of Catholic people. In response the Parkes government enacted the Public Instruction Act of 1880, which resulted in primary education becoming nominally compulsory, cheap, widespread, and removed all state aid to denominational schools . Again the Catholics responded negatively to the decision, which aided in preserving the Catholic identity, although this came at the cost of making themselves a distinctive sub culture in the Australian community . These metallic polishes, simply named Metallic Orange and Metallic Yellow , apply as smoothly and easily as the blue and purple. The consistency was the same, thick, but not too thick. These polishes are 2 coaters, but they go on reasonably opaque with the first coat. Meaning if you re short on time, you could get away with a few thick swipes. Here I used the same gradient technique, applying one coat of the yellow polish and gradually blending yellow to orange. I sponged on a bit of Sally Hansen s Copper Penny to the tips to give the orange polish a bit of sparkle. You know I love to sparkle! That statement is not the correct. Five points of area that affect nursing care when taking care of a Chinese patient, are the cultural beliefs with medical treatments, who and when to discuss the prognosis and medical treatment to, dietary beliefs, pregnancies beliefs, and death and dying. Many Chinese people believe in traditional Chinese medical treatments, and if the doctors and nurses disregard their beliefs, then that could lead to mistrust. Chinese people may try traditional approaches first, and then seek medical care if they fail. Communication barriers may delay patients from getting medical treatment. Cross cultural communication skills are extremely important to avoid miscommunication. A couple accommodations needed in nursing care would be to take some extra time to build a rapport with the patient before discussing any medical issues. By handing over educational responsibilities to commercial forces, Canada may evade the long established responsibility of OECD countries to follow fundamental educational values based on social justice and equality (Brown Tannok, 2009). • 22. The Politics Of The 1960s And 1960s As political climates change, so do the themes found within cinema. The 1960s and 1970s were a time of change for America. Feminism, civil rights movements, and gay rights movements were all progressing, and liberal values were becoming more and more prevalent among the younger generation. For conservatives, the 60s and 70s were seen as a time of decline; as a low point in American history, and a time of regression in American society. The progressive and liberal values were not positive changes for all Americans, but the changes were coming about nonetheless. However, in the late 1970 s and the 1980 s there was a dramatic shift in the themes found in American cinema that reflected the neo conservative political changes. With the... On the other hand, the female lead (played by Brigitte Nielson) is the archetypal damsel in distress beautiful, but unable to take care of herself as she is rescued in the end by the male lead. The scene where Brigitte Nielson is saved by Sylvester Stallone as a masculine, patriotic song plays behind them reflects the patriarchal ideals of the 1950s. The idea that men are above women; the idea that women need to be saved; the idea that women cannot help themselves. These demonstrated ideals set back the progress in feminism that was established throughout the 60s and 70s. Furthermore, in terms of attacking the audience, Needham puts an emphasis on the opening credits of this film, and for good reason. The opening credits are used as a tactic to manipulate the American audience; to make them feel as if they are being threatened. The film begins with a barrel of a gun being pointed at the audience, as Sylvester Stallone s voice is listing American crime statistics in the background. At the end of the credits, the gun fires a slow motion bullet towards the audience. On this, Needham says, we, the audience, America, are quite literally under attack. The economic, political and international pressure placed on the people of Germany ensured the loathing of the forced governmental rule. The immediate impact of the Great Depression of 1929, which has been debated and considered by most historians to be the dominant factor in the downfall of the democratic experiment which subsequently led to continuous political instability ultimately saw the collapse of the first democratic government of Germany. The losers of the hyperinflation were those with a fixed income, the working class, people living off their savings and wage earners. By June 1923, the government had lost control of the economy, as strikes swepped the country as workers protested about the rising unemployment and the failure of their wages to keep up with the cost of living. In August, the govenment finally fell, with President Ebert called for the leader of the German people party, Streseman, to form a new party. He formed the great coalition which brought together left and right wing. In the next six years, German society picked up with the induction into the League of Nations, the Dawes plan of 1924 which provided foreign loans to Germany and the Young Plan which saw the reduction in Germany s reparation figure by 95 million. The downside of Germany s new economic prosperity meant that society was living off borrowed money and was over dependant on foreign loans and investment. This is largely through the use of marketing strategies and advertising techniques which play on several key factors in order to win over their intended audience. These factors include trends, bandwagon, claims, association, promotion, as well as appeal and many others. By employing these strategies companies aim to coax, even sometimes completely mislead young people into buying their products. This is evident in the Kellogg s Special K advertisement. Throughout the advertisement, a variety of techniques are used to entice the audience in this case young women into buying the product. For instance, in the ad bright colours such as red and pink are worn by the female actors in contrast with dull, fruitless white walls. This captures/retains the viewer s attention, directing it towards the actors slim, idealistic physiques. Consequently, the advertisement creates an image that those who eat Special K enjoy an ideal body, thus establishing appeal for the product from many young women. The map itself also led to the creation of Geographic Information Systems. GISs are extremely helpful in today s society because it can help show data in a new form that is easier to understand. • 30. Lord Of The Flies Themes GoldingВґs book The Lord of the Flies has many different background meanings to it. Two themes that some critics think of are that people are born with evil already in them and that there is no hope for humanity. These themes are shown throughout the book in what the characters say and do. In this book there are many conflicts where the boys bully each other in an inhumane way, which shows how evil they really are. Also the boys lose hope for being rescued and start to go back to the more primitive ways of mankind. Golding definitely comes across in his work as some who may think that there is no hope for mankind and that all people are born with evil in them. One of the first examples of there being a theme for no hope for humanity is what Piggy first says to Ralph. Ralph and Piggy are arguing (pg. 14) and Piggy says They re all dead...Nobody don t know we re here. Your dad don t know, nobody don t know. When he says this, Piggy shows the reader that he thinks there is no hope for them to be rescued from the island. Hector was prince of Troy. He was son of Priam and brother of God like Paris. Even though he had a lot of qualities to be chosen as a partner, the main reason I chose him as my partner is that he never forget his duties, he always did the right thing, and he always remind his other Trojan fellows about their duties. Following are some of the scenes from The Iliad which served as the reasons why I chose him as my partner in the battle. God like Paris with the help of Aphrodite got Helen and vanished from the fields. The Trojans were feeling insecure as their leader left them at the battle fields alone and was having a good time with Helen. Hector was the one who went to Paris and reminded him of his duties and told him that how his deeds made The Trojans ashamed of themselves in front of The Greeks. This ideology has destroyed the youths ability to be present in our nation s leadership. The youths present a passionate and obscure hunger for success An unshakable will for prosperity. It is the responsibility of the society to capture this youthful enthusiasm for leadership before they lose it to rioting confusion of life the blot and blur of years. For age brings with it a strangeness of destiny that stabs the red waste of youthfulness with fear. A leader that spends five years in office and has no thing to show for it at the end of the day is strange enough, but the voters who vote for such a leader once again are touched by the dark miracle of folly. If, in contrast, the voters change their view not simply looking out for the best candidate but embracing them outright then the balance between the competing political forces that has so long favored the incompetent leader will tilt away from him.
