King Sejong The Great Research Paper
Throughout our lives, we all probably have faced a slump that put you in a dip. It drags you down to
the very bottom and makes you want to give up on everything. However, everyone has different way
of getting out of that sinkage; it may be exercise, travel, etc. In my case, the one that pull me out of the
slump was motivation and inspiration that my role models gave, especially, King Sejong the Great,
one of the greatest rulers in the history of Korea and my biggest role model that I admire. King Sejong
the Great (1397~1450) was the 4th king of Korea, who left many achievements for his people. The
greatest and the most remembered achievement he made is the invention of Hangeul, the Korean
Alphabet. Early days in Korea, people used Chinese

Flex Crew Essay
In a large city, full of diverse people, finding a musical performance is not hard to come by. Luckily,
as I was searching online for different performances I ran across The Flex Crew performing at Skully
s music diner. I have been to Skully s once before to watch a folk band perform. The atmosphere was a
lot different than when we saw The Flex Crew. Obviously, the genre of music was a lot different,
along with the atmosphere of the crowd. I was very surprised by the number of people in the bar that
evening. Mostly, because the performance started at 11PM and the world series was on. On top of this,
online their website said the show began at 10PM, but like a very great band they came out at their
own pace. In the meantime, there was a DJ performing to keep the crowd alive. The Flex Crew is a
reggae band from the Columbus area. After doing a little research I learned they are known as the best
reggae band in the Midwest.
A friend and I went to Skully s Music Diner on Sunday night to watch The Flex Crew. Their band
consisted of seven members, and they all varied on the different type of instruments. Some were
strictly on vocals, while others were on guitars, drums, pianos, etc. On top of this, the band was very
diverse in regards to their playing and singing. Yes, there was a main guitarist and a main singer, but
throughout the songs they all grabbed different instruments and sang different pieces of the songs. I
also learned they originated from Columbus and have been

Examples Of Overcoming Fear
The Prison Within Overcoming fear
Overcoming fear introduction
There is a prison that has an inmate population in the billions. It s a prison without walls, without
barbed wire, without guards and without any physical barrier. But it is the most effective prison in the
whole world. Few escape it, but those who do find real and lasting freedom.
That prison is in our minds. It is a prison that holds back our initiative, our talent, our ability to
express ourselves and, most of all, it holds back the fulfilment of our full potential as human beings.
That prison is fear. Our lives today are controlled by fear more than we know. Fear controls the
choices we make, our actions, our habits and even our destinies. Fear has become one of the greatest

It will absolutely stop you from living a life that you desire. Recognise it. Conquer it. Eleanor
Roosevelt s advice is that you gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which
you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do.
Overcoming fear there s nothing to fear but fear itself
I m sure you have had an experience in the past when you really feared something. After doing it how
did you feel. Silly? Stupid? The feeling is often one of that wasn t so hard after all. I don t know what
I was afraid of. Trying to fight fear is like trying to fight the dark. You can t do it. The way to get rid of
darkness is to bring in the light. The way to get rid of your fears is to conquer them. Do the thing you
fear to do and keep on doing it... that is the quickest and surest way ever yet discovered to conquer
fear ( Dale Carnegie).
Overcoming fear you can do it today
Go ahead and start that business you want to start. Go ahead and study what you really want to study.
Go ahead and become a musician, poet, artist, fashion designer or whatever else you want to do. Sure
you might fail, but you might succeed too. Take the risk today and conquer your fears. Do you want to
look back years from now and think I could have, I might have, and I should have. That is a sad way

Investigation in to the factors that affects the rate of fermentation of Glucose
Aim:
To investigate the factors that affects the rate of fermentation of
Glucose.
Background knowledge.
ENZYMES
Fermentation is a form of an anaerobic respiration where by glucose is partially broken down so only
a small amount of energy is released.
The yeast cells use the enzymes, ZYMASE to break down sugars unable to obtain. GLUCOSE

Enzymes have several properties.

Due to high temperature the energy increases of the collisions, because it makes all particles move
faster.
INCREASING THE TEMPERATURE ONLY CAUSES FASTER COLLISIONS.
KINETIC THEORY
The behavior of molecules of solids, liquids and gases depending on their state of pressure and
temperature since kinetic theory is the nergy of movement,
The 3 states, solids, liquids and gases have a different type of kinetic energy.
KINETIC THEORY OF GASES.
1) gases consist of a very large number of extremely small particles (molecules) which are in state of
continuous rapid motions.
2) The molecules move in straight lines until they collide with one another or with the wall of the
container.
3) The collisions are perfectly elastc ie. There is no change in the total energy as a result of a collision.
4) The distances between the molecules are largecompared to their size. The supposition is indicated
by the great compressibility of gases.
5) The molecules are so far apart the the attractive forces between them are neligible.
KINETIC THEORY OF LIQUIDS.
The main difference between liquids and gases is that the molecules in a liquid are much closer
together. Therfore the molecules in a liquid are less free to move about independently. The velocities
of the molecules will be continually changing as a result of the collisions.
Many molecules will have the average welocities, whilst some will have either a greater or slower
velocities. Some fast molecules

Final Reflection On Food Nourishment
ACE 435
Final Reflection
Jon and Rachel are awesome! Thank you all for a wonderful class!
1. Which guest speaker hosted in class this semester had the greatest impact on you? What did you
learn from him/her and how might it affect your future? The topic that had the greatest impact on me
is about food security by professor Michelson. In the lecture, we discussed the importance of food
security, the trends of rising global food demand, factors that drives the expected demand increase,
and also the relationship between income and food. The first question she came up with is why food
security became such a major challenge worldwide? In my point of view, one of the simple reason is
that everybody needs food. By answering this question, she introduced the definition of food security,
and three hierarchical pillars. I learned that population growth, climate change, and water scarcity are
some of the factor that cause food security became a problem. Also, as people become more affluent
they start to change their tastes. For example, meat consumption in both developed and developing
countries predict to increase while their income rise. Then we analyzed couple graph and table. In the
over nourishment map, we found out that Europe, North America and Oceania seems waste the most
food. In the map of meat demand driver, I learned that since two third of meat Chinese consume is
pork, China actually consumes more total meat calories than US. Last but not least, professor
Michelson introduced Engel s law and Bennett s law. Engel s law stated that as income increase, the
portion of income spent on food falls, but the amount of money that expend on food might increase.
Bennett s law stated that as income rises, the portion of starchy food in the diet falls. One of the
interesting things I found out in her presentation is that if an average individual has an intake calories
below 1690 1930 kcal per day, he or she is undernourished. I was shock by this information because I
used to take around 1400 kcal per day, and I am actually undernourished if by this definition. After
listened to professor Michelson s speech, I realized that feeding the people is one of the greatest
challenged worldwide. The challenge is not only

1.18 M M s Lab
Purpose: To practice direct and indirect measurement
Introduction: Do you think you could measure the average thickness of a sample of M Ms without
directly measuring selected M Ms? The answer is yes, and in this activity you will make direct and
indirect measurements of the thickness of M Ms. You will compare the results and evaluate the
reliability of each method of measurement. Be sure to view the tutorial on the proper use of the vernier
caliper. Please re visit the information on when to cite sources.
Since a graduated cylinder is usually used for liquid measurement, students think they need to put
water in the cylinder. This is not true for this activity. The graduated cylinder will be kept clean and
dryfor this activity. It is also important to remember that in the metric system, one mL is the same
volume as one cubic centimeter (1 ml = 1 cm3).
Materials: none
Pictures will be provided of the experiment. Materials used in obtaining the pictures are a bag of
regular (NOT peanut) M Ms (about 8 oz), plastic vernier caliper, and 100 ml plastic graduated
cylinder.
Procedure:
Start with a clean and dry 100 ml plastic graduated cylinder. Add M Ms until the graduated cylinder is
about 3/4 full. Gently tap the graduated cylinder to settle the M Ms. Read the volume of M Ms in cm3
and record the value in Data Table 1.
Pour the M Ms onto a clean, dry table or other flat surface. Use your hands to

Media Affects of the Vietnam War Essay
Media Affects of the Vietnam War War is truly a horrific event that unfortunately occurs in our world
frequently. There are a variety of ethical questions surrounding war, such as how much should citizens
know about the fighting? When it comes to reporting the news, it is the goal of the network to report
the news first. The benefit to this is people will turn to them first when it comes to breaking stories.
However if the news is delivered based on speed and not accuracy this can be harmful to society. War
is a very serious event and should not be taken lightly. Therefore, reporters must make sure facts are
correct and unbiased. In both the Vietnam War and our current war we see reporters going to extreme
measures to be the first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lies and corruption capture people. Therefore people will always pay attention to the stories about our
government lying to us. These weapons have still not been found and this is extremely similar to how
the ship may not have ever been shot down in Tonkin. Despite numerous inaccurate reports there were
attempts of trying to report the war accurately. However whenever a news channel would report
Americans getting killed in Vietnam the government would work quickly to cover it up. President
Nixon is quoted as saying the press is our biggest enemy. This one phrase sums up the war. The press
would try to report fairly to the American people, but the government would squash it and make the
press look bad (Media Beat Vietnam War, Solomon and Cohen). Therefore the press would only report
good things so that the government would look highly upon them and give them better seating in
white house briefings. This highly affected the people working in Vietnam. They were forced to be
there, and the stories they were trying to report were not even reported. There are certainly a lot of
examples of war reporting being inaccurate. When we read John Kerry s letters to his mother we
realized what Kerry was telling his mother and what his mother was hearing on TV were two totally
different stories. Kerry wrote to his mother about bloodshed,

The National League Of Major League Baseball
Should there be a designated hitter in the national league in major league baseball? That is the
question that is being asked around major league baseball by fans, owners, managers, and the players.
If a team is playing in an American league ball park both teams must use a designated hitter in place
of the pitcher. If a team is playing in a National league ball park both teams pitchers must hit instead
of having a designated hitter. This is set to give each league an advantage when playing in interleague
games because National league teams normally carry an extra pitcher while American league teams
normally carry an extra hitter. However, injury concerns, numbers, and entertainment factors play a
huge part in the designated hitter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An injury like this is more of a freak accident rather than an injury that could be prevented. A line
drive up the middle that hits the pitcher may look bad, but in most cases they usually only miss a few
starts. Generally it is concussions which there are proper protocols for concussion related incidents.
This year two National league pitchers have been injured while hit. That may not necessarily seem
like a high number, but it is when it is related to pitchers. Adam Wainwright is the ace of the St. Louis
Cardinals and this year he had a season ending injury while he was leaving the box to run to first. In
this example, the cardinals lost their ace for the year. Teams do not want to see their ace or any
pitchers go down because it could affect their playoff aspirations. Even though Wainwright went down
the cardinals are currently in first place of their division. They even have two pitchers with 10 wins or
more, but it does not always happen like that. Take the Chicago Cubs for example who are currently in
the race to be in position to contend for a wild card spot. Jon Lester is their best pitcher on their staff.
This would ultimately end their season over something that could have been prevented if he was
injured while at the plate. Major league baseball teams do not want to lose a great pitcher over
something that could be avoided. Many people believe that this could be solved if the

Early Childhood Field Teachers Do Not Use The Traditional...
In the early childhood field teachers do not use the traditional A to F grading system to provide a valid
measure of where the students are at. When meeting with parent about the progress of their student
educational progress, teachers provide work samples from a portfolio. Within the portfolio there are
pictures of the student completing projects and participating in classroom activities, weekly writing
samples, several self portraits drawn throughout the year, formal assessments done on mathematical
concepts and letter knowledge, dictated stories with drawings and cutting samples. Parents also have
access to teacher observations. During the conference the teacher and parent discusses where the child
is developmentally, emotionally, cognitively and physically in relation to their educational progress
based upon the material in the portfolio and teacher observations.
In the elementary school system letter grades from A to F are what parents and teachers use to
determine where students are at academically. The issue with this grading system, according to
Michael Thomsen, from a 2002 study done by the University of Michigan, found that eighty percent
of students base their self worth on their letter grade. This lack of self worth is linked to poor health,
involvement in criminal behavior, and when entering in the work field they earn a lower wage
(Thomsen, 2013). Student who have low self worth, bad grades, who earn a lower wage feeding into
the cycle of poverty (Thomsen,

Camera Lucida By Roland Barthes
After Reading Camera Lucida written by Roland Barthes, I was both confused and interested by his
ideas. Though I did not understand much of the book, I was able to take a couple of his ideas and
really think about how I see photos. In the future, I intend to use these ideas when I look at photos.
One of his ideas that I was able to understand is the way he looks at pictures. The other one is his
second definition of punctum. The first of the two ideas that interested me the most was the way
Barthes looked at photos. He did not say that he liked a photo because it had his favorite animal or
color. He looked deeper into the photo. He looked to see what had caught his eye the most about a
photo he enjoyed. He called the catching of his eye the punctum. Barthes described the punctum as, ...
is that accident which pricks me... (Barthes 27). This prick didn t always hit him with every photo.
Throughout the book, he described certain photos that I thought were interesting, but he did not enjoy
them. An example of a photo that he didn t enjoy was the photo of the two nuns and three helmeted
soldiers, which was photographed by Koen Wessing in 1979. The main reason that it didn t appeal to
him was that it didn t have much of a, duality (Barthes 23) to it. Then there were photos that had
caught his eye. An example of an image he enjoyed and had his prick was a photo of an African
American family; photographed by James Van Der Zee in 1926. The family is not what the punctum
was. The

Discrimination In Health And Social Care Essay
The discrimination is based on ageism. Ageism means when someone discriminates a person
according to their age. The patient feels that because she is old, the carers will think controlling her
and not provide her with the care she needs is satisfying and the right thing to do. As well as this, the
carers believe that old people are irrelevant and do not have feelings since old patients are near the end
of their lives. The patient (old lady) also states how the care worker would shout at her which could
make her feel small/inferior/scared compared to the carers and how whatever she says, it s irrelevant
towards the carers therefore this leads her feeling isolated and alone. It lowers her confidence making
her feel worthless and unwanted just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because the carer isn t aware of what the old lady needs or wants. Whenever she asks for
something, the carer s would refuse, such as when the old patient chose from the food menu to eat
vegetarian food as she dislikes fish or meaty products, (vegetarian) the carer didn t give her any other
option apart from eating meat which the old lady doesn t prefer as her right to choice was taken away.
This shows how she is being forced to do or eat things she doesn t like. The carer told her to listen to
her and stop complaining about it. This could even have an effect on her religion or beliefs. Since
maybe she s not allowed to eat something that s meaty. Furthermore this could affect the patient
personally as she loses her rights to do what she wants. Therefore she won t argue back to prove her
points and rights. Her short term will be affected as she will feel scared and threatened from the care
workers as she may think that they would control what she does or hurt her if she was to complain or
tell anyone. So this reinforces how her rights are very low and limited. This will affect her intellectual
development because since her rights aren t being heard, she will give up trying and would consider
herself unintelligent and

Level Three Leadership
Level Three Leadership is imperative in today s changing society that relies on technology and social

How Did Galileo Invented The Telescope
Have you heard of a glorious, agile, bold or bright man, named Galileo Galilei? For instance, who do
you think invented the telescope? Or found out that Jupiter has 67 moons? Well the answer to these
Questions are Galileo. This man changed the world forever,he was shamed for his theory though
because his church was not happy with him. Ever since he was little he found out that he loved
science, and that he wanted to see space. He loved his family too,but they were not happy with his
decision. He also was a professor,at multiple universities. Sadly,he was put in prison though because
of his beliefs. After that was over he had house arrest. He is best known for inventing the telescope, so

mathematics. One of his first scientific observations was with a lamp hanging from the ceiling. He
noticed that despite how far the lamp swung, it took the same amount of time to swing back and forth.
This observation didn t agree with the common scientific observations of the day. In 1585, Galileo left
the university and got a job as a teacher. He began to experiment with levers, balls, and other objects
that involved confusion to me.. He tried to describe how they moved using mathematical questions.
He even invented an advanced measuring tool called the hydrostatic balance. In 1609, Galileo heard of
an invention from Holland called the telescope that could make far away items appear much closer. He
decided to build his own telescope. He made great improvements to the telescope and began to use it
to view the planets. That s how he found out that saturn was not flat, and that Jupiter has multiple
moons. Soon this invention went viral!! He was the first to see craters on the moon, he discovered
sunspots. Galileo may also have made the first recorded studies of the planet Neptune, though he didn

completely accommodate the bailout cost of American International Group, which received an overall
total bailout amount of $85 billion. Moreover, the United States government turned out buying out a

Thesis Statement On Job Satisfaction
Pearson and Seiler (1983) found in their research on 336 faculty members from 24 universities in
Unites States, predictors for job satisfaction were tenure, teaching load, gender, institution type as in
private or public, and age. Salary and ranking on the other hand surprising did not play a big role in
influencing perceived job satisfaction. In comparison, it was found that those in professional colleges
reported higher job satisfaction than those in general college. Those who reported higher job
satisfaction were those with higher salaries, lower teaching loads, and speedier promotion rate. The
researchers further explain the possibilities to why lecturers from professional colleges reported higher
satisfaction was because of the job security ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Olsen, work stress or job related stress were related to time management conflicts,
compensation issues such as salary, feedback and job security. The level of job stress will play a role
in determining job satisfaction level as suggested by the research done by Usman and colleagues in
Punjab in 2011. The researchers posited that the higher work stress experienced by the faculty
members, the lower will be their satisfaction with their job. High job stress will also lead to lower
organizational commitment (Usman, Ahmed, Ahmed, Akbar, 2011). The researchers suggested that by
minimizing role ambiguity, it will directly reduce the role stress experience by the teaching members
and indirectly lower job stress as a whole. Thompson and Dey (1998) found that sources of stress for
African American college and university faculty were time constraints, promotion concerns, and
overall stress. Thompson and Dey also found that stress regardless of sources negatively affecting job
satisfaction. The most prominent evidence in the researchers finding was the negative effect of stress
in regarding of promotion towards the level of job satisfaction. In fact the researchers found that the
more stress the respondents were about promotion, the least satisfied they were about aspects such as

Walt Whitman , an enemy or a model for Ezra Pound?
In this essay , I want to demonstrate if Walt Whitman is seen as an enemy or as a model by Ezra
Pound. Even if the poem is ambiguous at first, during its we see that Walt Whitman is seen as a model,
as a spiritual father endowed with artistic creed which will be taken by his child.
Poem can be divided into 2 parts, the first part corresponds to childhood and refusal to accept the style
of Whitman (line 1 2) and the second part corresponds to maturity , where Pound accepts his style (
the wood) that he carves to become better, more understandable by his era. (line 3 9)
Pound saw Walt Whitman gradually , he passed from considered him an enemy, a bad person ( i have
detested you long enough ) , to a stubborn father ( pig headed father) , a spiritual one who wants what
it is good for his child ,a genius, to a fatherland and also a forebear whose creation Pound will
continue. But according to ,,The Cambridge Companion to Walt Whitman : Whitman delineates a
composite figure: a father fashioned as much to resist as to obey, an older brother sharing secrets, a
lover making cryptic signs by which all comrades of manly love might recognize and greet each other,
a priestly poet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nevertheless, he saw that it was a pill that had to be taken if he was to remain an American poet, true
to the vital sap and fibre as well as the crudity of America. (Beach,p69) Following this quote , we
deduce the idea that even if that period was sober, is still part of Ezra Pounds past . So , the poet
must appreciate this because it is an American poet and also must respect the work and sacrifice of

Single Parent Black Families Analysis
This article discusses a common factor that is encountered when counseling single parent Black
families. That is the topic of a mother s unresolved issue with the absent father being projected on the
eldest son. Lowe stated that in single Black families, mothers unresolved feelings about an absent
father are usually placed on the eldest son who is expected to assume the role as a parental child.
Lowe found that negative projections could possibly hide many unresolved emotional issues that the
mother has with the father. Therefore, this causes the relationship between the mother and son to
become impaired. This occurs because the son naturally develops and wants to differentiate himself,
which causes him to trigger unfinished business for

William Wordsworth s Lyrical Ballads
Imagine traveling down a gravel road in the countryside, set in England during the 19th Century. As
you continue your journey, you stumble across a woodland child and inquire about general questions.
Being inquisitive and intrigued by her fair beauty, queries regarding he family arise and soon you find
her concept of death skewed. We are Seven, composed by William Wordsworth and published in
Lyrical Ballads, is one of Wordsworth darker poems and unlike his characteristic Romantic style.
Wordsworth lost his mother at the tender age of eight, coincidentally, the same age as the cottage girl.
This poem stems from Wordsworth s personal experiences from when he journeyed across Europe
later in life and stumbled across a child near Goodrich Castle, whom is alleged to be the muse behind
this poem. The poem depicts the struggle the speaker faces as he tries to verbalize the truth over the
deceased cottage girl s brother and sister. The characterizations regarding the speaker s social class
and age in regards to his audience, the little girl, contribute to the colliding ideology during this
exchange. Wordsworth begins the scene of this poem with the master strolling down a road in the
countryside. The silence and loneliness of the poem breaks when the man comes across a little girl
frolicking alone. Before any words are exchanged, a description of the child is given, alluding to her
social standing among society. Described as having Her hair so thick with many a curl / That cluster

The WTO Each country has their own legal framework for internal trade. Goods that we use everyday,

America? This has been made possible through the WTO. The World Trade Organization (WTO) is
the main institute which manages the international trade. It is created to reduce trade barriers across
international borders to contribute to economic growth and development. It s main purpose is to
increase the well being and standards of living of the citizens. It is mainly conducted by WTO

Essay On Brownsville Museum
On October 21, I visited the Historic Brownsville Museum on 641 E. Madison Street. Admission costs
$4 for adults, $3 for children and seniors, and $2 for college students with ID proof.
The museum was a complex rather than one building. The complex was surrounded by a black metal
fence. The main building itself maintained its original style. In the late 1920s, the area was build as the
Southern Pacific Depot freight line. It ran from Brownsville to Edinburg until 1952. Then, the
loading/unloading building began restoration to become a museum. Finally, the Historic Brownsville
Museum opened its doors in 1986. The complex contained three buildings: the main culture building,
a transportation gallery, and the educational building. The main culture building included artifacts in
different categories. The first room was the information desk and gift shop. The two museum guides
were unable to present a tour, but they happily offered any assistance if needed. The, the room at the
right featured the first gallery. Rather than one category, the room presented relics ... Show more

immense windows, the hall maintains a sense of class. The Historic Brownsville Museum offered not
only factual information about the past but a visual novel presenting the advancement into the present

Analysis Of The Poem Harlem By Langston Hughes
In the poem Harlem by Langston Hughes, Hughes discusses the fate of the American dream and more
specifically, he questions us about the destiny of the dream that never gets realized. He wonders
whether it explodes violently or if it just dries up. Forty years later, Tony Kushner explored the fate of
the suppressed, exploding dream in Angels in America through the character of Joseph Porter Pitt as
he struggles to cope with his own repressed, but surfacing homosexuality, while also balancing
societal and religious perspectives that restrain his true dreams. Furthermore, Joseph s true self has
been repressed deep into his mind and covered with conservative opinions, a fraudulent marriage, and
religious manipulation. All of which, are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Joseph s conservative shield serves as a layer of ignorance that blocks out the community in which he
truly belongs to, which is the homosexual community. His non existent acknowledgement of the
struggle, fear and pain that the homosexual community was going through at the time is a
reinforcement of a falsified dream that Joseph has. Virtually, his cluelessness of the AIDS epidemic
means that he doesn t see himself at risk, he see s himself as pardoned from the tragedy as most
straight men did during that time. Additionally, the epidemic brought the homosexual community
together, and empowered them. Joseph, who I m sure has heard of the epidemic before the play even
begins, doesn t feel a sense of connection to that community at all nor does he show any signs of
empathy. He is left out of the coming together of the homosexual community and doesn t care because
of his denial. Moreover, Joseph ignores that homosexuals exist and although he does not completely
deny the fact that he is gay in the play, he essentially ignores the reality of himself as a gay man.
Also, Joseph s language with Harper is mostly centered around change, even though he has a
misperception about the world s current status, he is focused on making a change to his life. He wants
to move at the beginning, but only if Harper agrees to go with him. Joseph

expenditures (Spielvogel, P. 517). Since nobles were an important and powerful part of the society,
both Louis and Peter tried to integrate them in the main body of the government hence, preventing
oppositions and maintaining stability in their governments. Louis XIV widened his control over higher
and provincial nobility by creating the court of aristocrats and summoning the nobles to take up
residence in Versailles. This made it easier for him to keep them under his eyes (Spielvogel, P. 509).
Peter on the other hand, created Table of Ranks to force nobles to enter into government service in the
bureaucracy, army and navy (Lim, P. 99). Therefore, treating them as commoners and devaluing the

At the beginning of the seventeenth century, Spain possessed the most populous empire in the world,
controlling almost all Africa. To most Europeans, Spain still seemed the greatest power of the age, but
the reality was quite different: the treasury was empty (Spielvogel P 512). A major political
development inspired by growing nationalism was the alliance of small states into two central new
nations: Italy and Germany. Before the second half of the 19th century, Italy was a collection of city
states that were only loosely allied with one another. The German Confederation was created by the
Congress of Vienna in 1815, but it had been controlled by the Austrian and Prussian Empires. In 1848
major rebellions broke out within the confederation, inspired by liberals who envisioned a German
nation ruled by parliamentary government. The revolutions failed, and many liberals fled the country,
but they proved to be an excuse for the Prussian army to invade other parts of the Confederation. The
Prussian military leader was Otto von Bismarck, who subjugated the rebels and declared the beginning

Essay On Dante And Inferno
In a horrific burning plain, is where you will spend eternity for being with your same sex lover! Dante
wanted to bring an end to immoral behaviors in Florence. Dante was born to a family that liked getting
involved in the multifaceted Florentine political arena. He was born in the year 1295. The political
setting that his parents were used to became a key theme in Inferno. According to historical findings,
his mother passed away when Dante was 12 years of age. When he became of age, he was arranged
for a lady who he would later marry, but was in love with another lady. After the death of his loved
one, Dante began to venture into the field of philosophy and issues dealing with the political
environment of Florence. Because of the writings that he wrote to the Florentine government, the
Florentine leaders exiled him after falling out of favor. Being exiled from Florence was a great success
for him because it was the period in which he became involved with his artistic work. He soon then
wrote he Inferno, which was a section of the Divine Comedy. He later completed all the sections of
the Divine Comedy, which is a comedy symbolizing the human life which he presented as a visionary
journey through the Christian afterlife. He wrote the comedy to warn the corrupt society in order to
lead a life of being just and righteous. In his comedy, he talks about the sin of homosexuality.
Homosexuality or sodomy is a sinful practice which leads to destruction of souls and is found in

An Reflection Based On The Ideal Of Worship As Empowerment
Worship in the African American Expression _ Worship as Empowerment
This reflection based on the ideal of Worship as Empowerment. We shall explore the contemporary
side of African American Christian adoration. Which, begins with the religious heritage the African
slaves transported with them on their journey to the New World. Next, let us investigate the religious
studies of African American worship, with a focus on its characteristics, empowerment, and elements.
Heritage of African American Religious
The Africans brought immeasurable religious beliefs and practices to America. Their beliefs included
a superior, compassionate God, which generated the universe and was its definitive Provider. The
Devine intervention of religious philosophies and practices began for the African prior to their capture
and survival, of the sea journey, embarking of slave ships from West Africa to the West Indies, and the
consequences of slavery. The Africans incline to view existence holistically; the nonspiritual and the
holy are mutually undivided realities that exist in aggressive tension but interconnected occurrences.
Slaves embraced this understanding of life, resulting in worship with no constraint to place nor time.
Some scholars such as E. Franklin Frazier, contends that slavery in the United States expunged all the
religious traditions of the slaves. Conversely, others, including Melville Herskovits, which challenges
residuals, existences, and Africanisms, are still

Total Control In My Last Duchess, And Wuthering Heights
In Macbeth, My Last Duchess, and Wuthering Heights the men characters want total control over the
women characters. They want to make them do and say any and everything they say. Lady Macbeth
treats Macbeth so badly. She knows that he loves her and wants to make her happy. When she tells
him to kill Duncan and he refuse and she has to do it she calls him a coward (1.7.75 77). He goes from
a good guy to a bad guy because he s wife was so rude to him. She also talked him into getting his
best friend Banque killed (3.3.74 83). In the story My Last Duchess what made the man so jealous?
He didn t like the way that she smiled at every man that she saw (pg. 782 8 10). In the painting on the
wall her cheeks are red which means she was a bitch. His jealousy started to make him do dumb
things. What made him more upset was that she could fall in love so easily (pg. 782 21 23). ... Show

  • 2. King Sejong The Great Research Paper Throughout our lives, we all probably have faced a slump that put you in a dip. It drags you down to the very bottom and makes you want to give up on everything. However, everyone has different way of getting out of that sinkage; it may be exercise, travel, etc. In my case, the one that pull me out of the slump was motivation and inspiration that my role models gave, especially, King Sejong the Great, one of the greatest rulers in the history of Korea and my biggest role model that I admire. King Sejong the Great (1397~1450) was the 4th king of Korea, who left many achievements for his people. The greatest and the most remembered achievement he made is the invention of Hangeul, the Korean Alphabet. Early days in Korea, people used Chinese ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Flex Crew Essay In a large city, full of diverse people, finding a musical performance is not hard to come by. Luckily, as I was searching online for different performances I ran across The Flex Crew performing at Skully s music diner. I have been to Skully s once before to watch a folk band perform. The atmosphere was a lot different than when we saw The Flex Crew. Obviously, the genre of music was a lot different, along with the atmosphere of the crowd. I was very surprised by the number of people in the bar that evening. Mostly, because the performance started at 11PM and the world series was on. On top of this, online their website said the show began at 10PM, but like a very great band they came out at their own pace. In the meantime, there was a DJ performing to keep the crowd alive. The Flex Crew is a reggae band from the Columbus area. After doing a little research I learned they are known as the best reggae band in the Midwest. A friend and I went to Skully s Music Diner on Sunday night to watch The Flex Crew. Their band consisted of seven members, and they all varied on the different type of instruments. Some were strictly on vocals, while others were on guitars, drums, pianos, etc. On top of this, the band was very diverse in regards to their playing and singing. Yes, there was a main guitarist and a main singer, but throughout the songs they all grabbed different instruments and sang different pieces of the songs. I also learned they originated from Columbus and have been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Examples Of Overcoming Fear The Prison Within Overcoming fear Overcoming fear introduction There is a prison that has an inmate population in the billions. It s a prison without walls, without barbed wire, without guards and without any physical barrier. But it is the most effective prison in the whole world. Few escape it, but those who do find real and lasting freedom. That prison is in our minds. It is a prison that holds back our initiative, our talent, our ability to express ourselves and, most of all, it holds back the fulfilment of our full potential as human beings. That prison is fear. Our lives today are controlled by fear more than we know. Fear controls the choices we make, our actions, our habits and even our destinies. Fear has become one of the greatest ... Eleanor Roosevelt s advice is that you gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. After doing it how did you feel. Silly? Stupid? The feeling is often one of that wasn t so hard after all. I don t know what I was afraid of. Trying to fight fear is like trying to fight the dark. You can t do it. The way to get rid of darkness is to bring in the light. The way to get rid of your fears is to conquer them. Do the thing you fear to do and keep on doing it... that is the quickest and surest way ever yet discovered to conquer fear ( Dale Carnegie). Overcoming fear you can do it today Go ahead and start that business you want to start. Go ahead and study what you really want to study. Investigation in to the factors that affects the rate of fermentation of Glucose Aim: To investigate the factors that affects the rate of fermentation of Glucose. Background knowledge. KINETIC THEORY OF GASES. 1) gases consist of a very large number of extremely small particles (molecules) which are in state of continuous rapid motions.

There is no change in the total energy as a result of a collision. 4) The distances between the molecules are largecompared to their size. The supposition is indicated by the great compressibility of gases. 5) The molecules are so far apart the the attractive forces between them are neligible. KINETIC THEORY OF LIQUIDS. The main difference between liquids and gases is that the molecules in a liquid are much closer together. Therfore the molecules in a liquid are less free to move about independently. The velocities of the molecules will be continually changing as a result of the collisions. Many molecules will have the average welocities, whilst some will have either a greater or slower velocities. Some fast molecules ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Final Reflection On Food Nourishment ACE 435 Final Reflection Jon and Rachel are awesome! Thank you all for a wonderful class! 1. Which guest speaker hosted in class this semester had the greatest impact on you? What did you learn from him/her and how might it affect your future? The topic that had the greatest impact on me is about food security by professor Michelson. In the lecture, we discussed the importance of food security, the trends of rising global food demand, factors that drives the expected demand increase, and also the relationship between income and food. The first question she came up with is why food security became such a major challenge worldwide? In my point of view, one of the simple reason is that everybody needs food. By answering this question, she introduced the definition of food security, and three hierarchical pillars. I learned that population growth, climate change, and water scarcity are some of the factor that cause food security became a problem. Also, as people become more affluent they start to change their tastes. For example, meat consumption in both developed and developing countries predict to increase while their income rise. Then we analyzed couple graph and table. In the over nourishment map, we found out that Europe, North America and Oceania seems waste the most food. In the map of meat demand driver, I learned that since two third of meat Chinese consume is pork, China actually consumes more total meat calories than US. Last but not least, professor Michelson introduced Engel s law and Bennett s law. Engel s law stated that as income increase, the portion of income spent on food falls, but the amount of money that expend on food might increase. Bennett s law stated that as income rises, the portion of starchy food in the diet falls. One of the interesting things I found out in her presentation is that if an average individual has an intake calories below 1690 1930 kcal per day, he or she is undernourished. I was shock by this information because I used to take around 1400 kcal per day, and I am actually undernourished if by this definition. After listened to professor Michelson s speech, I realized that feeding the people is one of the greatest challenged worldwide. The challenge is not only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Purpose And Indirect Measurement Of M M s Lab MaryAnn Marichal Ms. Wilson Physics/ FLVS July 20, 2015 1.18 M M s Lab Purpose: To practice direct and indirect measurement Introduction: Do you think you could measure the average thickness of a sample of M Ms without directly measuring selected M Ms? The answer is yes, and in this activity you will make direct and indirect measurements of the thickness of M Ms. You will compare the results and evaluate the reliability of each method of measurement. Be sure to view the tutorial on the proper use of the vernier caliper. Please re visit the information on when to cite sources. Since a graduated cylinder is usually used for liquid measurement, students think they need to put water in the cylinder. This is not true for this activity. The graduated cylinder will be kept clean and dryfor this activity. It is also important to remember that in the metric system, one mL is the same volume as one cubic centimeter (1 ml = 1 cm3). Materials: none Pictures will be provided of the experiment. Materials used in obtaining the pictures are a bag of regular (NOT peanut) M Ms (about 8 oz), plastic vernier caliper, and 100 ml plastic graduated cylinder. Procedure: Start with a clean and dry 100 ml plastic graduated cylinder. Add M Ms until the graduated cylinder is about 3/4 full. • 10. Media Affects of the Vietnam War Essay Media Affects of the Vietnam War War is truly a horrific event that unfortunately occurs in our world frequently. There are a variety of ethical questions surrounding war, such as how much should citizens know about the fighting? When it comes to reporting the news, it is the goal of the network to report the news first. The benefit to this is people will turn to them first when it comes to breaking stories. However if the news is delivered based on speed and not accuracy this can be harmful to society. War is a very serious event and should not be taken lightly. Therefore, reporters must make sure facts are correct and unbiased. In both the Vietnam War and our current war we see reporters going to extreme measures to be the first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lies and corruption capture people. Therefore people will always pay attention to the stories about our government lying to us. These weapons have still not been found and this is extremely similar to how the ship may not have ever been shot down in Tonkin. Despite numerous inaccurate reports there were attempts of trying to report the war accurately. However whenever a news channel would report Americans getting killed in Vietnam the government would work quickly to cover it up. President Nixon is quoted as saying the press is our biggest enemy. This one phrase sums up the war. The press would try to report fairly to the American people, but the government would squash it and make the press look bad (Media Beat Vietnam War, Solomon and Cohen). Therefore the press would only report good things so that the government would look highly upon them and give them better seating in white house briefings. This highly affected the people working in Vietnam. They were forced to be there, and the stories they were trying to report were not even reported. There are certainly a lot of examples of war reporting being inaccurate. When we read John Kerry s letters to his mother we realized what Kerry was telling his mother and what his mother was hearing on TV were two totally different stories. • 11. The National League Of Major League Baseball Should there be a designated hitter in the national league in major league baseball? That is the question that is being asked around major league baseball by fans, owners, managers, and the players. If a team is playing in an American league ball park both teams must use a designated hitter in place of the pitcher. If a team is playing in a National league ball park both teams pitchers must hit instead of having a designated hitter. This is set to give each league an advantage when playing in interleague games because National league teams normally carry an extra pitcher while American league teams normally carry an extra hitter. However, injury concerns, numbers, and entertainment factors play a huge part in the designated hitter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An injury like this is more of a freak accident rather than an injury that could be prevented. A line drive up the middle that hits the pitcher may look bad, but in most cases they usually only miss a few starts. Generally it is concussions which there are proper protocols for concussion related incidents. This year two National league pitchers have been injured while hit. That may not necessarily seem like a high number, but it is when it is related to pitchers. Adam Wainwright is the ace of the St. Louis Cardinals and this year he had a season ending injury while he was leaving the box to run to first. In this example, the cardinals lost their ace for the year. Teams do not want to see their ace or any pitchers go down because it could affect their playoff aspirations. Even though Wainwright went down the cardinals are currently in first place of their division. They even have two pitchers with 10 wins or more, but it does not always happen like that. Take the Chicago Cubs for example who are currently in the race to be in position to contend for a wild card spot. Jon Lester is their best pitcher on their staff. This would ultimately end their season over something that could have been prevented if he was injured while at the plate. Major league baseball teams do not want to lose a great pitcher over something that could be avoided. Many people believe that this could be solved if the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Early Childhood Field Teachers Do Not Use The Traditional... In the early childhood field teachers do not use the traditional A to F grading system to provide a valid measure of where the students are at. When meeting with parent about the progress of their student educational progress, teachers provide work samples from a portfolio. Within the portfolio there are pictures of the student completing projects and participating in classroom activities, weekly writing samples, several self portraits drawn throughout the year, formal assessments done on mathematical concepts and letter knowledge, dictated stories with drawings and cutting samples. Parents also have access to teacher observations. During the conference the teacher and parent discusses where the child is developmentally, emotionally, cognitively and physically in relation to their educational progress based upon the material in the portfolio and teacher observations. In the elementary school system letter grades from A to F are what parents and teachers use to determine where students are at academically. The issue with this grading system, according to Michael Thomsen, from a 2002 study done by the University of Michigan, found that eighty percent of students base their self worth on their letter grade. This lack of self worth is linked to poor health, involvement in criminal behavior, and when entering in the work field they earn a lower wage (Thomsen, 2013). Student who have low self worth, bad grades, who earn a lower wage feeding into the cycle of poverty (Thomsen, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Camera Lucida By Roland Barthes After Reading Camera Lucida written by Roland Barthes, I was both confused and interested by his ideas. Though I did not understand much of the book, I was able to take a couple of his ideas and really think about how I see photos. In the future, I intend to use these ideas when I look at photos. One of his ideas that I was able to understand is the way he looks at pictures. The other one is his second definition of punctum. The first of the two ideas that interested me the most was the way Barthes looked at photos. He did not say that he liked a photo because it had his favorite animal or color. He looked deeper into the photo. He looked to see what had caught his eye the most about a photo he enjoyed. He called the catching of his eye the punctum. Barthes described the punctum as, ... is that accident which pricks me... (Barthes 27). This prick didn t always hit him with every photo. Throughout the book, he described certain photos that I thought were interesting, but he did not enjoy them. The patient feels that because she is old, the carers will think controlling her and not provide her with the care she needs is satisfying and the right thing to do. As well as this, the carers believe that old people are irrelevant and do not have feelings since old patients are near the end of their lives. The patient (old lady) also states how the care worker would shout at her which could make her feel small/inferior/scared compared to the carers and how whatever she says, it s irrelevant towards the carers therefore this leads her feeling isolated and alone. This shows how she is being forced to do or eat things she doesn t like. The carer told her to listen to her and stop complaining about it. This could even have an effect on her religion or beliefs. Since maybe she s not allowed to eat something that s meaty. Furthermore this could affect the patient personally as she loses her rights to do what she wants. Therefore she won t argue back to prove her points and rights. Her short term will be affected as she will feel scared and threatened from the care workers as she may think that they would control what she does or hurt her if she was to complain or tell anyone. As you continue your journey, you stumble across a woodland child and inquire about general questions. Being inquisitive and intrigued by her fair beauty, queries regarding he family arise and soon you find her concept of death skewed. We are Seven, composed by William Wordsworth and published in Lyrical Ballads, is one of Wordsworth darker poems and unlike his characteristic Romantic style. Wordsworth lost his mother at the tender age of eight, coincidentally, the same age as the cottage girl. This poem stems from Wordsworth s personal experiences from when he journeyed across Europe later in life and stumbled across a child near Goodrich Castle, whom is alleged to be the muse behind this poem. The poem depicts the struggle the speaker faces as he tries to verbalize the truth over the deceased cottage girl s brother and sister. The characterizations regarding the speaker s social class and age in regards to his audience, the little girl, contribute to the colliding ideology during this exchange. Wordsworth begins the scene of this poem with the master strolling down a road in the countryside. The silence and loneliness of the poem breaks when the man comes across a little girl frolicking alone. Before any words are exchanged, a description of the child is given, alluding to her social standing among society. Described as having Her hair so thick with many a curl / That cluster ... Virtually, his cluelessness of the AIDS epidemic means that he doesn t see himself at risk, he see s himself as pardoned from the tragedy as most straight men did during that time. Additionally, the epidemic brought the homosexual community together, and empowered them. Joseph, who I m sure has heard of the epidemic before the play even begins, doesn t feel a sense of connection to that community at all nor does he show any signs of empathy.
