Essay The Talented P.T. Barnum
Because P.T. Barnum catered to the public s desire to be entertained, he paved the way for
entrepreneurs in the entertainment industry. While P.T Barnum may be a name that at first may
seem unfamiliar, one realizes that we are exposed to Barnum s legacy every day. Which
American has never heard of the Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey Circus, or never eaten
Barnum animal crackers? Or which American hasn t seen Toddlers and Tiaras, of which the
concept of beauty and baby pageants was invented by P.T. Barnum himself. The name P.T. Barnum
is synonymous with the curious. The New York Sun declared that if it is bold, it is Barnum. If it is
big, it is Barnum. As a showman he stands alone. (Fleming, Fenwick) P.T. Barnum is an iconoclast

(Kunhardt 4) His maternal grandfather and namesake, Phineas Taylor, was P.T. s main
influence. Uncle Fin , as he was called by everyone, was a vibrant and boisterous man, telling
colorful stories and always hoaxing others. While still a child, Uncle Fin had given P.T. a piece
of land called Ivy Island, and was told that it was a profitable piece of land, one of the most
valuable farms in the state. (Kunhardt 8) When he was finally able to see Ivy Island for himself,
he found that there were no mines of silver and gold but instead only an excess of snakes and
poison ivy existed on the swampy land. P.T. realized that he had been the laughing stock of the
family for years. This event was meant to strip him of his boyhood dreams and turn him into a
hard boiled Yankee, but instead it not only hardened him to life, but also seemed to compel him
to hoax others as well. (Kunhardt 9) In P.T. Barnum, all the good traits of his family came to
fruition. Like old Phineas Taylor, he also knew how to convince skeptics and make them believe
whatever he said. He would soon be putting this skill to very good use. (Streissguth 21) Barnum
had energy, shrewd business sense, and a talent for promotion. He knew what would interest the
public. (Streissguth 41) All he needed was an opportunity to show the world his skills. Barnum did

Dorian Gray Analysis
The texts The Picture of Dorian Gray and The Importance of Being Earnest, written by Oscar
Wilde, feature two male friendships that share similar characteristics. The Picture of Dorian Gray
follows the life of Dorian Gray, a young man who is easily influenced by others. This novella
tracks the development of Dorian as he ages and establishes bonds with others, such as Lord Henry
Wotton. The Importance of Being Earnest explores the friendship of Jack Worthing and Algernon
Moncrieff, who both fabricate stories in order to escape undesirable situations. In both texts, the
characters use one another to achieve their desires. They are more focused on self indulgence than
real human connection. These texts display the male friendship as an outlet to act upon hedonistic
impulses The male characters in both texts forge their relationships out of greed, with the goal of
self advancement in mind. In The Picture of Dorian Graythe friendship between Lord Henry
Wotton and Dorian Gray is based on their own personal benefit. From this friendship, Lord
Henry can now place his own ideals into Dorian s younger, more apt body. This process allows
Lord Henry to experience youth again by living his life through younger people, like Dorian. He
frequently discusses, exercise of influence, describing it as, terribly enthralling (Wilde 37). Lord
Henry interjects his own theories into Dorian s mind through their discussions on the proper way to
live life. Dorian, being manipulable, adopts

The Beliefs And Beliefs Of Different Religions On Death
Nature of Death
With a beginning of life there is an end, but the nature of death and how it is view can affect how
we live. Death is understood to be that one s biological function cease to function and the body
no longer is capable of anything (Pence, 2011). The nature of death is viewed by each one of us
differently and this paper is going to discuss the values and beliefs of different religions on death.
This paper is going to look at Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, and Shinto religion
discussing what the nature of death virtues and values are. Finally discussing the overall understand
of the nature of death within all these religions.
Hinduism is a religion that follows concepts of the Upanishads, which includes the Brahman,
Atman, Maya, Karma, Samsara, and Moksha. The concepts provide guidance throughout life and
are key to a final death. The Brahman is something one believes in and is experience in the world
that surround him. The Atman is who we are the identity of our soul, an understanding we are not
just a body we are more. The term Brahman refers to the experience of the sacred within nature
and the external universe, while Atman refers to the experience of the sacred within oneself
(Molloy, 2013, p. 83). Along with understanding the spiritual aspect of nature and one s soul is
understanding how this effects every living thing. The Maya which can be referred to as magic or
illusion is an important factor in life and death. Hinduism, form

Advantage Of Uber
Uber is a transportation network application developed by the company Uber Technologies Inc.
Launched in 2011, Uber is currently available to over sixty countries, including the Philippines.
This transportation service has proved to be a convenient and innovative way of getting from point
A to point B. Maintaining a 4.5 star rating on the Apple App Storeand a 4 star rating Google Play
Store, the Uber app obviously has a positive public reception. As for myself, a college student who
uses Uber on a daily basis, I can say that it is a user friendly and creative way of traveling around
the city.
Of course, a vital role played in all transportation services is the vehicle operator or the driver.
Uber interviews and screens the drivers to assure the passengers of the drivers legitimacy. While it
is clear that Uber has policies that are advantageous to the users of the application, the service ...

Andrew said that GrabTaxi drivers can refuse to take a passenger which would only cause
inconvenience, unlike Uber wherein the drivers cannot turn down a passenger. Another advantage
that Uber has over GrabTaxi, said Andrew, is that the mode of payment is credit card and not
cash. Because of this mode of payment, the drivers need not worry about giving change, nor do
the passengers need to consider if the amount of money they are carrying is enough to pay for
the trip. He also added that Uber is safer than GrabTaxi since both the driver and the rider learn a
few details about each other before the ride starts. In addition, the passenger and the driver rate
each other on the app at the end of the trip for feedback which the next driver or passenger will see.
I expected the answers he gave since the reasons he enumerated are also the same reasons I use
Uber instead of GrabTaxi. Basically, Uber is easier to use, safer, and more

Introduction
Tuberculosis is a disease of an infectious nature caused by a bacterium known as mycobacterium
tuberculosis. The disease spreads through the air. People with the disease can spread it to
susceptible people through coughing, sneezing, talking or spitting. It mainly affects the lungs and
other parts such as the lymph nodes and kidneys can also be affected. The symptoms for TB are
fatigue, coughing, night sweats, weight loss and fever. One third of the population of the world is
affected with mycobacterium tuberculosis. The rate of infection is estimated to be one person per
second. About 14 million people in the world are infected with active tuberculosis. Drug resistant
TB has been recorded to be a serious public health hazard in many countries. Resistant strains
have developed making it difficult to treat the disease. TB has caused millions of death mainly in

Examining Whether or not Brutus is a Hero or Villain in...
You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain. Harvey Dent, The
Dark Knight. This quote can be assimilates to Brutus in Shakespeare s play, Julius Caesar. In a
way he died as a hero but he did live long enough and saw himself becoming the villain.
Throughout the play, Brutus had been consumed in a lot of drama and deaths. The readers can tell
the internal arguments he has with himself about it too. In William Shakespeare s play, Julius Caesar
, there are many tragic deaths, drama, and heroes and villains. The question is, who is the hero and
who is the villain. Brutus is an honorable man in this play but when Cassius, one of the main
characters, and antagonists from the play, points out to Brutus why he... Show more content on

Brutus is a devoted friend of Caesar and since they are such trusty friends, Brutus can lead
Caesar to Cassius s trap without speculating anything because he thinks Brutus is noble to him.
Once Cassius gets what he wants, Brutus to be on his side, they and some others begin to plan
how they will get to Caesar and kill him. Then when Brutus agrees to join the conspiracy to
annihilate Caesar, it is the beginning of him becoming the villain. He is still the hero though; he
only joined the conspiracy for the good of Rome. This was the noblest Roman of them all. / All
the conspirators save only he / Did that they did in envy of great Caesar. / He only in a general
honest thought / And common good to all, made one of them (V.v.68 72). This quote is said by
Antony at the end of the play. In that scene, he and Caesar s adopted son, Octavius have seen
Brutus s dead body. They have seen the good in Brutus and have noticed that he has acted out of
his love for Rome. ...not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more (III.ii.21). That was
part of the speech Brutus gave to the citizens after he and the other conspirators killed Caesar.
This was the last act Brutus did before he started becoming more of a villain. This quote and the
quote Antony says at the end of the play are the same. They both are saying how Brutus didn t
really want to kill Caesar. He just felt like he had no choice, he saw that what Caesar was doing
was changing Rome.

Obese Target Audience
The two audiences we ve chosen are those who are obese/overweight and those who are just
trying to lose weight for health/fitness reasons since it is a preventive approach. Sugar plays a
big factor in weight gain making them predisposed to getting heart diseases, diabetes, cancer and
etc. Canadian Cancer Society states that being obese can significantly alter sex hormones and
insulin levels which increase the likelihood of developing breast, colon or uterine cancer
(Canadian Cancer Society, 2015). WHAT WHY? (Social media platforms) 1. An educational
video clip that can be uploaded on YouTube or posted/shared on Facebook this would increase
our audience because these platforms are widely used by people across the globe and thus an
excellent tool to raise public awareness and spread our message to everyone. 2. Instagram just like

A Career In Troubleshooting Brake Shoes
You may regularly work on your car, handling a variety of tasks yourself, saving you money. The
more you re able to do on your own, the better for your budget. When it comes to troubleshooting
brakes, there may be a line you re just not willing to cross. We ll look at the simple jobs you can
handle on your own as well as those where calling upon a mechanic may be your best option.

Replace the brake pads. You can save a few hundreds dollars in labor costsby changing the brake
pads yourself. Typically, you ll pay from $50 to $100 per set of four brake pads, depending on
your make and model. Purchase a can of brake fluid while you re at it and begin assembling your
tools: gloves, safety goggles, jack stands, lug wrench, adjustable wrench, c clamp, and plastic ties.
By following the instructions in your model specific service manual, this job can be completed in
about an hour.

Following any brake work, your car should brake firm to the touch. Trouble becomes apparent
when the brakes feel soft to the touch and require extra pressure to make the car stop. Once you
have ruled out the master cylinder isn t the culprit, then bleeding the brake lines is necessary.
Brake fluid is hydraulically pushed through tubes and drives each piston in a brake caliper. Here,
you ll need two people to get the work done one person to press the brake pedal and another
individual to open each bleeder valve to release air. Use a box wrench suitably sized for the bleeder
bolt, loosening same. Remove the old brake fluid with a turkey baster or a syringe. While
bleeding the system, have your helper add fresh fluid. As long as you have a helper available you

Importance Of A Healthy Lifestyle Essay
A healthy lifestyle can be defined as a certain way of living that normally lowers the possibility
of an individual falling sick or even dying early. It is not possible to prevent a large proportion of
deaths especially those from the heart and lungs but at the same time it is possible to avoid
them. A lifestyle that is healthy makes one very fit, strong as well as reduces the risks of certain
diseases. A healthy lifestyle is based on the various choices that we normally make in our day to
day lives. The foundations to a healthy lifestyle are based on many things but the most crucial
all come down to one concept, maintaining a healthy body weight. Eating healthy is one of the
ways that can make one die healthy; we find that it is therefore very important to observe what
we eat. This is because our body systems depend on the continuous supply of nutrients that we
give to our bodies . The nutrients are mainly from the food we eat and they include vitamins,
carbohydrates, minerals and fats. Due to these, we need to take different types of food so that
we can ensure that our bodies get all the relevant nutrients. Our diet should contain vegetables,
whole grain as well as fruits We find that our society is changing so much especially when it
comes to the kinds of food we eat. Most of the people do not know how to prepare various types
of food and hence they end up eating processed foods which are not very healthy and not eating a
lot of fresh vegetables and fruits. This is

body is made of. Body composition alludes to everything in your body, split up into various
compartments. Two compartments are normally utilized fat mass and without fat mass. Fat mass
refers to all the fat tissue in your body. Sans fat mass is everything else, including muscle, organs,
bone and liquid. On the off chance that both change at once, you won t not perceive any
adjustments in body weight. Knowing your body synthesis is more useful than concentrating on
your body weight, since you can quantify both fat mass and fat free mass. Keep your diet healthy,

All Men Are Created Equal
In the United States Declaration of Independence, the phrase, All men are created equal is a phrase
people refer to, when dealing with equality in America. A feature through the different selections in
American Dreams is equality because America is a place where everyone has the same opportunity
to achieve anything. Equalityand opportunity given to people has evolved since the founding
fathers, but there s been stages in America s history where equality is only given to specific people,
not everyone. Equality and opportunity are elements in involved in the song, This Land is Your
Land, by Woody Guthrie. Everyone who is born in America has an equal opportunity to do
anything in mind. Woody Guthrie writes, As I was walking that ribbon of highway I saw above
me that endless skyway, I saw below me that golden valleys: This land for you and me (Guthrie
54). In other words, Guthrie said it does not matter what a person s situation may be. Whether a
person is poor or wealthy the opportunity for them to be successful is there for the taking. Despite
a person s background, he or she has the opportunity to have any career or lifestyle he or she
wants. Being born to Mexican parents who do not have any education and work in labor jobs
does not prohibit me from trying to achieve my dreams. The equality given to Americans is the
same, whether a child is born to famous celebrity or to a poor person and should have no effect on
his or her equality with others. If a celebrity

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION 1.1Background of the Research Topic The initial part of this
thesis provides, through selective reference to some of the literature, a clearer understanding of
the question of what Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG hereinafter) is and how its transportation
system works from the production plants to consumers all over the world. The aforementioned
analysis will constitute the basis of understanding the main international technical and
geostrategic changes taking place in the LNG industry and the factors which lead to the
contemporary augmentation of the spot market. In particular, this chapter includes an analysis
of the technical characteristics of LNG and its transportation process on the one hand, and an
analysis of the legal background focusing on chartering. More specifically, it provides a brief
analysis of the definitions and the main characteristics of the Time Charter Parties (T/C

Cause And Effects Of Volcanic Eruptions
It was a very loud sound, louder than thunder, or like a bomb going off, it s hard to describe said
Ewan Marshall.
Volcanic Eruptions are one of the most feared, destructive and deadliest disasters killing
anything that is near it. There are many conditions that must be in place for a volcanic eruption
to occur. There is no exact time of year a volcanic eruption could happen and the duration of a
volcanic eruption is unpredictable. There are many specific areas where volcanic eruption could
occur. Volcanoes are formed when magma within the Earth s upper mantle works its way to the
surface (Volcanoes). The plates inside the Earth s crust move and the friction causes the
volcanic eruption (Volcanoes). There are many places where eruptions can happen. One of the
main places is all over Hawalli. Hawaii has many volcanoes, but these are the three most active
volcanoes in Hawaii , Mauna Loa, Kilauea, and, Loihi. There are many more places that volcanic
eruptions can occur. These facts can alert the people of these areas that an eruption can happen.
Volcanoes can cause a lot of damage, but there are many warning signs that predict when a
volcanic eruption would occur. Volcanoes can kill and injure many people, but there is no exact
amount because the amount of people who die or get injured depends on how many people are
living near the volcano (Charles A. Wood). Volcanoes destroy a lot of property and infrastructure
because when the volcano erupts, rocks and ash shoot out

s first post war film. Capra, an Italian born director, spent his time during WWII creating
propaganda films for the U.S. military. In Barry Grant s essay, It s a Wonderful Life showed

Malware Problem Analysis Paper
Problem
Malware, as defined by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, refers to a program that
is covertly inserted into another program with the intent to destroy data, run destructive or intrusive
programs, or otherwise compromise the confidentiality, integrity, or availability of the victim s
data, applications or operating system. (M. K., 2013) This is a threat to all companies with any
type of internet access and/or electronic information storage. That is currently a large number of
both small and big businesses.
Some important terms to take into account here is confidentiality, integrity and availability. These
terms are known as CIA and are the core principles of information security. Malwarewill affect all
three indefinitely if left unchecked. This will not only hurt a company s revenue but will
potentially also hurt their reputation if wide scale enough. Malware is, by Gulf South Tech
Solutions, considered to be the biggest threat to a business. With over 5,000 new malware attacks
every day, the average time to resolve being over 25 days, the average financial cost being $3
million, and over 60% of the websites that infect a computer being legitimate sites that were
compromised makes defense of paramount importance now more than ever. (Gulf South
Technology Solutions, 2015)
Solution
The fix to the Malware problem is the implementation of the NIST SP 800 83 regulation. It covers
all aspects of malware handling and will assist in mitigating the

Taking a Look at Hydroelectric Energy
Hydro electric energy (hydropower) has been in existence for more than 2000 years ago, which
was firstly used for milling, grain, pumping of water and so many more before been used for
energy generation. Hydroelectricity is another form of electricity that is produced by using water
as the resource for generation, this simply means that when water is released (flow), it is aided
by gravitational force therefore it generates Kinetic Energy (KE) which is converted into
mechanical energy by assistance of turbines and generators which convert the mechanical energy
into electrical energy which is then transferred to power lines in that form. South Africa, like
many other developing countries have electricity challenges and one company in South Africa
have been the leader in terms of ensuring that South Africa is powered by hydro electric energy,
among other alternative such of power. The company is Eskom, South African largest producer of
electrical energy, since it was established in 1923. Eskom have committed to promote health
environmental programs in line with the guideline of UNFCCC, and in its COP 17 fact sheet
Eskom states thus: Eskom provides 95% of South Africa s electricity . The main source of Eskom s
electricity generation is thermal power plants. And even though according to electricity web link,
Eskom disclose that, the company relies on coal fired power stations, to produce more than 80% of
the electricity. Furthermore, in order to subsidize the thermal power

Between Horatio Alger Myth In It s A Wonderful Life And...
The two movies of the week, It s a Wonderful Life by Frank Capra and American Beauty by Sam
Mendes are a perfect portrayal of the American values in a positive and a negative way as I will
explain in my discussion. Both movies got the idea of the Horatio alger myth, which is the
American dream that everybody by hard work and determination can be successful and make it to
the top to money and fame. Success in both movies is portrayed differently for example in It s a
Wonderful Life success was not the money and fame and the typical hollywood portrayal of
success, but family and homeland, which are related to the german idea of heimat, which is the
value of home. However in American beauty the typical American success was portrayed, which...

However following the basic american dream idea in the film American beauty and chasing money
lead to a dystopian end and family destruction, which is a cautionary tale that money is not the
most important thing in life, but family ties and connections. All the families in American beauty
were psychotic, unstable and terrifying, which shows the effect of the American myth on people
that it destroys relationships as I mentioned by the family being torn apart and just faking that it
s a happy family, everything went downhill. To explain the idea that the american dream is just a
false myth, In American dream at the end of the movie nothing came back to equilibrium after
the chaos so the end was dystopian, this is because the family ties were not strong and money
and fortune were the main goals. In contrast in It s a wonderful life, the equilibrium of the
narrative was resorted and the end was utopian by the happy family gathering. The idea of the
male gaze was presented in both movies to show male sexuality and urge and portray women as a
subject of joy. Few examples were Riky looking at Jane from the window, Lester looking at Angela

Black Male Initiatives On College Campuses Essay
There are several Black male initiatives on college campuses around the United States that focus on
supporting the high school to college matriculation and retention of African American males.
Furthermore, these initiatives are designed to support Black males as they navigate through their
perspectives institutions (Palmer Gasman, 2008). Support can come in many ways. For the purpose
of this section, I will highlight some of the programs that focus on the success of African American
males; Penn GSE Grad Prep Academy, Sam Houston State University, The Ohio State, and UCLA.
The Penn GSE Grad Prep Academy is a part of the Center for the Study of Raceand Equity. The
director of this program is Shaun Harper. According to the schools website (http:/
/www.gse.upenn.edu/equity/content/mission and services), the program is designed to introduce
students who have had few (if any) prior interactions with same race male teachers, professors, and
educational leaders to career possibilities in the field of education. The ultimate program goal is to
prepare African American males for admission to leading research universities, including the
University of Pennsylvania. All accepted program participants receive an all expense paid four day
visit to Philadelphia. During their time on the Penn campus, the participants attend workshops on
searching for graduate programs, writing effective application statements, and crafting research
agendas. Moreover, they interact with Penn GSE

Democracy Is Not A Democratic State Essay
It is often misinterpreted, the fact that the greatest nation on Earth, the United States, is governed as
a democratic state. Democracy is basically having control of an organization or group by the
majority of its members; however, this is not the case when addressing the United States. In fact,
this country is not a democratic state, but a constitutional republic. It is an enormous difference
when brought to light, since democracydoes not really protect minorities, but expands power for
the majority. On the other hand, a constitutional republic is when a head of state and other officials
are representatives of the people, elected by them. These representatives are expected to perform
their duties in the best interest for the people; it also separates power into three branches known as,
judicial, legislative and executive. Having this in mind, citizens of the United Statesrecognized their
country as a freedom nation, internationally; a lot of historians and politicians might share the same
opinion. Unfortunately, the government has been drifting away from its original purpose, to serve
and protect individuals before the majority s interest. When it comes down to deciding whose rights
should trump the others, majority or minority, there is absolutely no doubt, that minorities hold the
title, since it addresses individual basic rights that contribute progress to the community to further
evade a violation of basic rights towards any individual.

Evolution Of Science Classes At School
Being raised in a Christian family, I have attended Catholic school my whole life. That being
said, I have grown up studying Bible stories since before I can remember. Probably the most
prominent and well known of these stories in Christian theology is, of course, the story of
creation. To this day, I still remember how the story goes. On the first day, God created the earth
and daylight. For six days after, he continued creation and included the sky, the ocean, plants,
animals, and humans. Growing up, I always believed in a literal interpretation of this story, and
thought everything was created within an exact week. However, as I got older, I learned about

While a large number of people in the scientific field strongly believe in evolution, a group of
people known as creationists and creation scientists seem to disagree. Creationism is the belief that
the biblical record of primeval history in Genesis 1 11 is factual, historical, and clearly
understandable and, therefore, that all things were created and made in six literal days (Morris).
Creationists believe evolution completely contradicts with their religious beliefs; therefore, they do
not agree with it. Creation science is a branch of creationism that focuses on providing scientific
reasoning behind creationism. Creation scientist Jack Wellman describes evolution saying it
presents a world view without God and that there is only survival of the fittest and that there is no
real purpose for mankind. In between evolutionists and creationists falls theistic evolutionists, who
believe in both creation by God and evolution. Since these people interpret the Bible in a
metaphoric sense rather than literal, they believe that religious teachings about creation do not
conflict with evolutionary concepts.
For the most part, evolutionists and theistic evolutionists, aka people who believe in evolution, all
seem to agree that evolution should be taught in US public schools. Interestingly enough, I have not
yet found someone who is pro evolution and does not think it should be discussed in the classroom.

Nuclear Fusion a Feasible Source of Power Essay example
Is Nuclear Fusion a Feasible Source of Power?
Abstract:
Nuclear fusion may be an effective solution to the energy problem in today?s world. Fusion is
environmentally friendly and has the potential to generate massive amounts of power. It is evident
that the Sun?s power is fueled by nuclear fusion. Recent advancements such as ITER and NIF may
bring us closer to being able to use fusion. We find that nuclear fusion is a long term solution to a
continuing problem.
Introduction:
Since the Industrial Age, energy from fossil fuels has become widespread. In recent times, the
depletion of fossil fuels is forcing humanity to search for other alternatives, such as nuclear fusion.

Scientists aim to gain knowledge and improve the power output, the time duration, and the energy
cost.
Nuclear fusion is a process that occurs when two hydrogen isotopes (tritium and deuterium) fuse
together. This reaction produces a neutron and also a large amount of energy. However, a massive
amount of heat is necessary for the reaction to initiate because the nuclei (which have very strong
opposing charges) must fuse together. The temperature necessary for this to occur is over one
hundred million degrees Kelvin. When the reaction occurs, the energy is so great that it is very
difficult to contain. So far the known methods of containment are magnetic confinement and
inertial confinement. The magnetic confinement uses a very powerful magnetic field, and the
inertial confinement uses the inertia of the reaction.
(Figure 1, wikipedia, ?nuclear fusion?) We will investigate published literature that either
supports or reflects if fusion is feasible. We believe fusion would be a feasible source of power if it
could produce reasonably more energy that is put in.
Results and Discussion
There are several methods to create nuclear fusion for power. The most successful is the star, which
uses gravity and pressure to fuse hydrogen and create helium.
Unfortunately we cannot harness a sun and harvest it on earth for raw fusion energy.
However, we can create small reactions similar to that of the sun in the lab and turn the radiant

Henry VIII s Reformation Essay
Henry VIII s Reformation
In 1529 Henry VIII started to reform the Catholic Church in England, however there are different
opinions as to why he began these controversial changes. The orthodox view concurs that there
was a vast anti clerical feeling in 16th century England; the corrupt church was unpopular with
the masses. However the revisionist view claims that the reformation was actually due to politics.
Henry needed a male heir and therefore needed a divorce. The needs and wants of the masses

But were the clergy really that bad, and if they were would people not have done anything about
it? In the diocese of Lincoln, which had 1,006 individual parishes, they only had 25 complaints of
sexual misconduct for the whole year. This is a low figure, which proves that the deficiencies of the
clergy have either been fiercely exaggerated or that people didn t have a problem with the incidents
and therefore didn t report them. The interesting fact is that after the reformation, the number of
complaints rose. Surely this suggests that it was the reformation that caused the anti clericalism and
not the other way round.
Many laypeople did see the clergy, as greedy and excessive, people were growing discontented

people didn t like him, such as Thomas Howard. However Wolsey was only one man within the

Observation Of Toddlers
The key to understanding children is observation. As observers, we begin to look for daily patterns
in their behavior. Once patterns of behavior are recognized, the observer can then give positive
guidance in securing the child s developmental needs.
In observing a normal newborn s behaviors and activities, reflexes play an important role. They
help to identify normal brain and nerve activity. In my observation of Baby A, she demonstrated
reflexes of rutting in finding the nipple of her bottle, sucking, head turning and grasping of my
fingers. Although she was born full term, she was quite small in stature and weight. She also
showed alertness to senses of sight, hearing, taste and touch. Of course, at first, she slept most of
the time while she was in my care, but as she aged, she became more active and alert. The key
element to keeping Baby A happy was taking care of her physical needs first...diaper changes,
feeding and burping. Although she is still very small in weight and height, she shows no sign of
delayed development and is now a happy, healthy toddler.
Children from about 1 to 2 years old are usually called toddlers. During these years, parents see
tremendous growth and change. As an observer, I was able to see a Toddler B transform from a
baby into a toddler right before my eyes.

Early Church Worship Practices And The Psalms
3. Early church worship practices and the Psalms The purpose of this section is to clarify major
historical foundations of Christian worship practiced by the early church and its relation to the
book of Psalms. The primary objective is to explain the influence of the Psalms on the worship life
of the early church. By analyzing the New Testament context, believers can have a clear perception
of the meaning of the book of Psalms in the worship life of the early church. Therefore, scholars
assume that is fundamental to learn about the interaction between the book of Psalms and the New
Testament in order to define Christian worship in the New Testament context. Moreover, this unit
will exemplify aspects that influenced worship in the New Testament. Scholars support the
argument that Christian worship is definitely associate with culture. A research on church history
must also consider the cultural aspects of the early church period. Indeed, cultural influences
affected the worship life of the early church. Furthermore, culture involves a style of life where
tradition, religion, and moral values are particularly interrelated. Music was a major part of the
cultural life of the early church. Moreover, there was a spiritual emphasis on music and on worship
in the New Testament period. Early Christians were responsible to adapt and accept the main
principles related to worship. Additionally, the worship principles from the Old Testament had a

Artemisia Gentileschi Madonna And Child
The bond between mother and child has been a constant theme in the world of the humanities.
While that bond has been the same throughout history, its portrayal in art has varied from decade to
decade. Two artists, Artemisia Gentileschi and Mary Cassatt, chose to create pieces based on this
bond, but the use of mediums and the influence from religion (or the lack thereof) help to
distinguish between the artists and their time periods. Artemisia Gentileschi s Madonnaand Child,
was created during the Baroque Period, c. 1609 (Brash), when the Catholic Church was sponsoring

Even with the difference in periods of time, both women chose to paint a mother and child in a
tender moment. One, Artemisia s show the mother preparing to feed her young, while Mary
Cassatt chose to depict a mother s embrace. Both show the unity in the maternal bond. The
mothers in each of the images appears relaxed, content with her child. In Madonna and Child
(Brash) , the mother s face is serene as she looks down at her hungry child. Her body is relaxed
and leaning in. In The Young Mother ( The Young Mother ), the mother sits, with a slight smile,
giving her the appearance of bliss and contentment in the simple act of holding her child. The
child in each painting is an older baby, instead of a newborn, allowing the artists to show the child
being old enough to hold himself up and be aware of his surroundings. By doing this, the artists
were able to show the connection between the mother and child is mutual, that the child is aware
of his mother s love in holding or feeding, and feels love in return. both artists use light to spotlight
the mother and child. While the Baroque Period used bolder light and shadow (Baroque and the
Age of Enlightenment 2.14), and Impressionists focused more on the way light fell across surfaces
(Gersh Nesic), both utilized light to call attention to the mother and child. Finally, both images

thought him to be too conservative. He never backed down from his goal of protecting the rights
of the working class. Focusing on his objectives, Samuel Gompers took a firm stance on labor,
defending his position to anyone who disagreed with him. During a chaotic time in history where a
strong figure was desperately needed to change the status quo, Samuel Gompers emerged as a
leader at the forefront of the labor movement.

The Causes And Dangers Of Cyber Bullying And Cyber...
The younger generation is always on their phones and it has decreased their skill of
communication which is a must need for the business world. In fact the Pew Research Center had
found that 88% of people ages 18 29 use Facebook in 2016. That is a lot of people which can lead
to some problems as mentioned before.
One growing issue is cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is when someone threatens, makes fun of, or
posts offencive pictures/words with the intention to hurt others over electronic communication.
About half of young people have experienced some form of cyberbullying, and 10 to 20 percent
experience it regularly said Bullying Statistics, Cyber bullying victims are more likely to have
low self esteem and to consider suicide . Also more than 50% of cyberbully victims don t say
anything to their parents or any other adults witch makes the situation even worse. This is a
serious issue that goes along with social networking. The next issue is bots. Bots are a computer
program that are created to do a task automatically. What that task may be depends on the type of
bot, and unfortunately for us there are more bad bots than there are good. An prime example of a
bad bot is the bot designed to infect your computer through downloads and ads. When the bot has
been downloaded it can steal personal information, make you pay a ransom for your information
back, and can even make your computer send out spam mail. There are million of bots in use right
now and they are incredibly

Development Of Modernism After World War II
After the Second World War, attention immediately turned towards reconstructing a better world.
Like the earlier world war, it destroyed a previous social and economic order (Curtis, 1996). Many
of tall buildings were built to meet the large number of human requirements. Modernism was
rapidly developed at that time. This essay aims to explore the development of modernism after
World War II by compare and contrast the two apartments which are Hansaviertel Apartment
in
German and Society Hill Towers in the USA. It first discusses the similarity of the two chosen
buildings. Then explains the difference of design, which includes surroundings, building form and
the apartment layout. Furthermore, explore the factors lead to those difference which are policy,
the influence of the other architects and architects own belief.
As cities were destroyed during the war, there were increasing needs of buildings especially the
apartments and houses. These two chosen projects have the same functions as apartments. They
were both high rise buildings, which were built as a part of the redevelopment of the city after the
war. The Hansaviertel Apartment was built in 1957, Berlin, Germany and designed by Alar Aalto.
The other one is named Society Hill Towers in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I.M Pei is the designer
for this apartment. The two apartments were built at the same time but contrast greatly in term of
design, which can represent the several kinds of development of modernism after the

Grandiose Narcissism
Facebook is a mirror and Twitter is a megaphone, according to a new University of Michigan
(2013) study exploring how social media reflect and amplify the culture s growing levels of
narcissism. Dr. Twenge of San Diego State University studied more than 16,400 students who
took the Narcissistic Personality Inventory between 1982 and 2006. In 1982, only a third of the
students scored above average on the test. Today that number is over 65%. Dr. Twenge warns that
narcissists lack empathy, overreact to criticism, and favor themselves over others. They are
incapable of cheering anyone else s success. Ultimately, they led miserable lives because they
cannot form and maintain healthy relationships. (Aspen Education, 2011) Today s generation or
the millenial generation has been well known for being the narcissistic generation. The term
Narcissistic was coined from the story of Narcissus in Greek Mythology(Karrenbrock, 2012)
Narcissus loved himself too much. The Millenial generation had dedicated a lot of contribution to
this because of loving oneself too much like Narcissus. This gave way to Narcissism. There are two
kinds of narcissism: the vulnerable narcissism and the grandiose narcissism. This study focused on
grandiose narcissism or grandiosity. Grandiosity, as defined by Psychology Today, means an
unrealistic sense of superiority, a sustained view of oneself as better than others that prompts
narcissists to view others with disdain and view them as inferior. It also

Otello And Desdemona
Otello and Desdemona
Act I of Verdi s Otello starts without a prelude. It starts directly with the storm. This opera has an
aggressive starting which is represented by strong music. The opera begins outside a castle in
Cyprus, near the shore in the midst of an unleashed evening storm full with queasy violin and horn
undulations and high woodwind lightning flashes (Hepokoski, 1987). Verdi represents the storm
with trumpets, cornets, and trombones. Then, followed by Cassio, Montano, and his full train, Otello
enters the castle.
Otello asks everyone to let him alone in order to stay with Desdemona, she moves closer to him.
Her eyes are full of love, and to demonstrate her ecstasy, Verdi uses a solo, muted cello that swells
with Otello s and Desdemona s emotions. Then, Otello starts to embrace her and starts singing his
immense love: Gia nella note densa , and she calls him, Mio Superbo Guerrier . Then, singing a
beautiful lyric, she asks him to remember how speaking both intimately was the foundation of their
love: Do you remember , she says accompanied by the halo of an angelic harp arpeggio. The string
instruments remove their mutes, and a grand, measured largo unfurls, the principal movement of
the love duet (Hepokoski, 1987). Desdemona starts describing how she got in love with the tales of
his adventures. Otello also remembers and both start exchanging wonderful lyrical memories about
their relationship.

Harriet Tubman And The Brave Rebel
Two of the most well known, moving women in history are Harriet Tubman, the slave freer, and
Rosa Parks, the brave rebel. Many people know about these two women, but have more than likely
not drawn a connection between the two of them. There are a few different areas that can help to
develop one s perception about the impact of these two women. As children these two women were
raised to be strong, independent, and influential. These childhoods led to their participation in two
massively important movements in American history. On top of all of these areas, an understanding
of the similarities and differences between the two can help one to realize the relationship that they
share. The last facet to the understanding of these historic leaders is to comprehend their
involvement in society and their movements at a detailed level. Rosa Parks and Harriet Tubmanare
two highly influential women in United States history who have some noticeable similarities
and differences. Harriet Tubman was born a slave around 1820 in Maryland. Even though she
was given the name Araminta by her primary owner, she decided to go against him and name
herself after her mother, Harriet Ross. Harriet never received an education because she was a
slave, but she was recognized for her usual strength and put into the field to work (Kranz and
Koslow). In 1826 when Harriet was six years old, just old enough to have a sense of family, she
was sold to a woman with little money looking for a young, female

Dalton s Atomic Theory ( 1803 )
Dalton s atomic theory (1803):
Dalton proposed that all matter is made of atoms (tiny indivisible particles), which cannot be
destroyed. He visualised atoms as a solid particle without a structure. All atoms of an element are
identical in mass and properties. The atoms of one element differ from the atoms of all other
elements in atomic weight. Compounds are combinations of two or more different types of atoms.
A chemical reaction results in the rearrangement of atoms in the reactant and product compounds
and they don t destroy or create atoms.
Thomson s plum pudding model (1909):
Thomson discovered electron in 1897, which allowed him to develop a new atomic model. In
Thomson s model, the atom is composed of electrons surrounded by a positively charged fluid
which balances the electrons negative charges, like negatively charged plums which are surrounded
by a positively charged pudding . Thomson thought the electrons were positioned throughout the
atom in rotating rings. The atom was also sometimes described to have a cloud of positive charge.
Rutherfordian atomic model (1911):
Rutherford s discovery of the nucleus allowed him to develop a new atomic model, the planetary
model. In this model, the centre of the atom is the nucleus. The nucleus contains most of the mass
and all of the positive charge of the atom. Electrons circle around the nucleus like planets do around
the sun. Positive protons in nucleus and electrons in orbit around nucleus.

A History of the World in Sex Glasses Essay
A History of the World in Six Glasses: Summary
Beer
The discovery of beer happened around 10000 BCE. The hunter gatherers, located in the Fertile
Crescent, collected cereal grains because they could be stored for a number of months if kept
dry and safe. The storage of grains made it harder to have a nomadic lifestyle; therefore the
people started staying in one place. They would try to make water tight storage areas, however
water did eventually get into them. After the grain would get wet and the people would cook it, it
turned into gruel and when that was left sitting around for a few days it would turn into beer. Beer
became important because it was safer to drink, due to the fact that you cooked it which got rid of
bacteria. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
6. Beers relationship with writing is that some of the first records are receipts for the selling of
beer. The cuneiform symbol for beer had changed over the years to become more abstract. Beers
relationship with commerce is that it was used as a currency. When laborers were being paid in
both Mesopotamia and Egypt they were given a certain amount of bread and beer depending on the
job. This ties in with writing due to the fact that the people kept records of the amount that they
were paid. Beer was actually healthy due to the fact that it wouldn t be completely fermented,
therefore it would contain yeast that provided nutrients and vitamins. The Egyptians believed that it
could be used with other ingredients to cure illnesses like indigestion and constipation. It was also
used as a sedative.
Wine
Wine, known as the beer of the mountains was first produced during the Neolithic period
between 9000 and 4000 BCE. There were two factors in the Zagros Mountains that made the
production of wine possible; an abundance of the Eurasian grape vine, Vitis vinifera sylvestris,
and cereal crops. Grapes contain natural yeast that will convert the sugars in the juice to alcohol;
that way when people started to store grapes they would eventually turn into wine. The earliest
evidence of wine came from a jar from the village Hajji Firuz Tepe and dated back to 5400 BCE.
Wine became important because it was a main part of religion, medicine, commerce, and became a

Free-Radical Chain Reaction Lab Report
Free radical chain reactions involve the formation of halides and alkyl halides by reacting diatomic
halogens with reactive hydrogens attached to hydrocarbons. In this experiment, diatomic bromine
was reacted with various arenes to produce hydrobromic acid and alkyl halides. The mechanism
behind this reaction can be characterized by three distinct phases: initiation, propagation, and
termination. During the initiation step, bromine radicals are produced via thermal or
photochemical homolysis. These bromine radicals then react with hydrogens attached to a
hydrocarbon in the propagation step to produce hydrobromic acid and a carbon radical. The chain
reaction continues since the carbon radical formed can react with another diatomic bromine
molecule, producing a carbon bromine bond and regenerating a bromine radical. The termination
step ends the reaction by reacting two bromine radicals with each other, lowering the concentration
of highly reactive bromine radicals in solution.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, when propane and diatomic bromine are reacted together, a 3:97 ratio of primary
alkyl halide to secondary alkyl halide is produced. In contrast, when propane and diatomic chlorine
are reacted together, a theoretical 3:1 ratio of primary alkyl halide to secondary alkyl halide is
produced; experimentally, the ratio is closer to 45:55. Thus, it was determined that diatomic
bromine was better suited to examine the reaction rates of the various

Sickle Cell Anemia Disease
What is Sickle Cell Anemia Disease?
Sickle Cell Anemia Disease is an inherited disease that turns healthy red blood cells (donut
shape) into abnormal sickle shaped red cells which affects people s hemoglobin (a red protein
responsible for transporting oxygen in the blood) (Naoum). This disease gets its name from the
shape of red blood cells under low oxygen condensation which becomes sickle shaped. These
sickle shaped cells get stuck in small blood vessels which causes people with this disease to have
oxygen blockage (fudge foundation). People inherit this disease from their parents, if both parents
have a trait of sickle cell anemia (people who inherit one sickle cell gene and one normal gene,
they have a 25 percent chance of having an unaffected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

bones) go through a lot of pain. They normally have chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe
infections and blood blockage. People who have Sickle Cell describe their pain in differently,
Tiffany who has Sickle Cells said, it s like repeatedly being stabbed by a butcher knife in the

spot into her veins and expecting her to keep living normal. Patients with this disease go through a
lot of pain and are not able to do anything about it because there are no cures for it. Pharmacist just

William Shakespeare s Poetry Of Love
But, soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun.
(Romeo and Juliet 2.2 1 3). As you are aware this session will focus on the poetry of William
Shakespeare. Shakespeare was a world renowned poet and playwright. Shakespeare had a romantic
heart and his poetry is shaped by love. His poems usually depict the passion and sacredness of
relationships. By comparing two poems from William Shakespeare it is shown how he has been
able to articulate the poetic theme of love. This seminar will analyze and explore two of
Shakespeare s poems focusing on the particular theme of love. Shakespeare deals with deep and
enduring love, as he applies his past experiences to his poems. Shakespeare s poems Sonnet 116
and Sonnet 130 are based around the romantic pursuits of his life, and they have similar context but
deliver different meanings of what true love is.
Throughout Shakespeare s various relationships and career pathways he was able to find a deep
awareness and admiration of love. Shakespeare was famous around the 16th century, where he
gained a celebrated recognition for his poetry and playwriting skills. Shakespeare wrote 154
sonnets, likely composed over an extended period from 1592 to 1598. (Mabillard, A. 2000).

  • 2. Essay The Talented P.T. Barnum Because P.T. Barnum catered to the public s desire to be entertained, he paved the way for entrepreneurs in the entertainment industry. While P.T Barnum may be a name that at first may seem unfamiliar, one realizes that we are exposed to Barnum s legacy every day. Which American has never heard of the Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey Circus, or never eaten Barnum animal crackers? Or which American hasn t seen Toddlers and Tiaras, of which the concept of beauty and baby pageants was invented by P.T. Barnum himself. The name P.T. Barnum is synonymous with the curious. The New York Sun declared that if it is bold, it is Barnum. If it is big, it is Barnum. As a showman he stands alone. (Fleming, Fenwick) P.T. Barnum is an iconoclast in his... Uncle Fin , as he was called by everyone, was a vibrant and boisterous man, telling colorful stories and always hoaxing others. While still a child, Uncle Fin had given P.T. a piece of land called Ivy Island, and was told that it was a profitable piece of land, one of the most valuable farms in the state. (Kunhardt 8) When he was finally able to see Ivy Island for himself, he found that there were no mines of silver and gold but instead only an excess of snakes and poison ivy existed on the swampy land. P.T. realized that he had been the laughing stock of the family for years. This event was meant to strip him of his boyhood dreams and turn him into a hard boiled Yankee, but instead it not only hardened him to life, but also seemed to compel him to hoax others as well. (Kunhardt 9) In P.T. Barnum, all the good traits of his family came to fruition. Like old Phineas Taylor, he also knew how to convince skeptics and make them believe whatever he said. He would soon be putting this skill to very good use. (Streissguth 21) Barnum had energy, shrewd business sense, and a talent for promotion. He knew what would interest the public. (Streissguth 41) All he needed was an opportunity to show the world his skills. Barnum did ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Dorian Gray Analysis The texts The Picture of Dorian Gray and The Importance of Being Earnest, written by Oscar Wilde, feature two male friendships that share similar characteristics. The Picture of Dorian Gray follows the life of Dorian Gray, a young man who is easily influenced by others. This novella tracks the development of Dorian as he ages and establishes bonds with others, such as Lord Henry Wotton. The Importance of Being Earnest explores the friendship of Jack Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff, who both fabricate stories in order to escape undesirable situations. In both texts, the characters use one another to achieve their desires. They are more focused on self indulgence than real human connection. These texts display the male friendship as an outlet to act upon hedonistic impulses The male characters in both texts forge their relationships out of greed, with the goal of self advancement in mind. In The Picture of Dorian Graythe friendship between Lord Henry Wotton and Dorian Gray is based on their own personal benefit. From this friendship, Lord Henry can now place his own ideals into Dorian s younger, more apt body. This process allows Lord Henry to experience youth again by living his life through younger people, like Dorian. He frequently discusses, exercise of influence, describing it as, terribly enthralling (Wilde 37). Lord Henry interjects his own theories into Dorian s mind through their discussions on the proper way to live life. Dorian, being manipulable, adopts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Launched in 2011, Uber is currently available to over sixty countries, including the Philippines. This transportation service has proved to be a convenient and innovative way of getting from point A to point B. Maintaining a 4.5 star rating on the Apple App Storeand a 4 star rating Google Play Store, the Uber app obviously has a positive public reception. As for myself, a college student who uses Uber on a daily basis, I can say that it is a user friendly and creative way of traveling around the city. Andrew said that GrabTaxi drivers can refuse to take a passenger which would only cause inconvenience, unlike Uber wherein the drivers cannot turn down a passenger. Another advantage that Uber has over GrabTaxi, said Andrew, is that the mode of payment is credit card and not cash. Because of this mode of payment, the drivers need not worry about giving change, nor do the passengers need to consider if the amount of money they are carrying is enough to pay for the trip. He also added that Uber is safer than GrabTaxi since both the driver and the rider learn a few details about each other before the ride starts. In addition, the passenger and the driver rate each other on the app at the end of the trip for feedback which the next driver or passenger will see. I expected the answers he gave since the reasons he enumerated are also the same reasons I use Uber instead of GrabTaxi. Basically, Uber is easier to use, safer, and more ... • 13. All Men Are Created Equal In the United States Declaration of Independence, the phrase, All men are created equal is a phrase people refer to, when dealing with equality in America. A feature through the different selections in American Dreams is equality because America is a place where everyone has the same opportunity to achieve anything. Equalityand opportunity given to people has evolved since the founding fathers, but there s been stages in America s history where equality is only given to specific people, not everyone. Equality and opportunity are elements in involved in the song, This Land is Your Land, by Woody Guthrie. Everyone who is born in America has an equal opportunity to do anything in mind. Woody Guthrie writes, As I was walking that ribbon of highway I saw above me that endless skyway, I saw below me that golden valleys: This land for you and me (Guthrie 54). In other words, Guthrie said it does not matter what a person s situation may be. Whether a person is poor or wealthy the opportunity for them to be successful is there for the taking. Despite a person s background, he or she has the opportunity to have any career or lifestyle he or she wants. Being born to Mexican parents who do not have any education and work in labor jobs does not prohibit me from trying to achieve my dreams. The aforementioned analysis will constitute the basis of understanding the main international technical and geostrategic changes taking place in the LNG industry and the factors which lead to the contemporary augmentation of the spot market. In particular, this chapter includes an analysis of the technical characteristics of LNG and its transportation process on the one hand, and an analysis of the legal background focusing on chartering. More specifically, it provides a brief analysis of the definitions and the main characteristics of the Time Charter Parties (T/C hereinafter), and Voyage Charter Parties (VCP hereinafter). The remainder of the chapter is devoted to the presentation and discussion of the main chartering routines followed when trading a vessel under different charter parties (C/P hereinafter) and special C/P forms. 1.1.1Technical Background Analysis Definition and basic properties of LNG This introductory subsection provides a brief overview of LNG basic properties, a pre requisite for accurately assessing potential LNG safety hazards and risks. Taking a Look at Hydroelectric Energy Hydro electric energy (hydropower) has been in existence for more than 2000 years ago, which was firstly used for milling, grain, pumping of water and so many more before been used for energy generation. Hydroelectricity is another form of electricity that is produced by using water as the resource for generation, this simply means that when water is released (flow), it is aided by gravitational force therefore it generates Kinetic Energy (KE) which is converted into mechanical energy by assistance of turbines and generators which convert the mechanical energy into electrical energy which is then transferred to power lines in that form. South Africa, like many other developing countries have electricity challenges and one company in South Africa have been the leader in terms of ensuring that South Africa is powered by hydro electric energy, among other alternative such of power. The company is Eskom, South African largest producer of electrical energy, since it was established in 1923. Eskom have committed to promote health environmental programs in line with the guideline of UNFCCC, and in its COP 17 fact sheet Eskom states thus: Eskom provides 95% of South Africa s electricity . Success in both movies is portrayed differently for example in It s a Wonderful Life success was not the money and fame and the typical hollywood portrayal of success, but family and homeland, which are related to the german idea of heimat, which is the value of home. • 25. Democracy Is Not A Democratic State Essay It is often misinterpreted, the fact that the greatest nation on Earth, the United States, is governed as a democratic state. Democracy is basically having control of an organization or group by the majority of its members; however, this is not the case when addressing the United States. In fact, this country is not a democratic state, but a constitutional republic. It is an enormous difference when brought to light, since democracydoes not really protect minorities, but expands power for the majority. On the other hand, a constitutional republic is when a head of state and other officials are representatives of the people, elected by them. These representatives are expected to perform their duties in the best interest for the people; it also separates power into three branches known as, judicial, legislative and executive. Having this in mind, citizens of the United Statesrecognized their country as a freedom nation, internationally; a lot of historians and politicians might share the same opinion. Unfortunately, the government has been drifting away from its original purpose, to serve and protect individuals before the majority s interest. When it comes down to deciding whose rights should trump the others, majority or minority, there is absolutely no doubt, that minorities hold the title, since it addresses individual basic rights that contribute progress to the community to further evade a violation of basic rights towards any individual. Creationism is the belief that the biblical record of primeval history in Genesis 1 11 is factual, historical, and clearly understandable and, therefore, that all things were created and made in six literal days (Morris). Creationists believe evolution completely contradicts with their religious beliefs; therefore, they do not agree with it. Creation science is a branch of creationism that focuses on providing scientific reasoning behind creationism. Creation scientist Jack Wellman describes evolution saying it presents a world view without God and that there is only survival of the fittest and that there is no real purpose for mankind. In between evolutionists and creationists falls theistic evolutionists, who believe in both creation by God and evolution. Since these people interpret the Bible in a metaphoric sense rather than literal, they believe that religious teachings about creation do not conflict with evolutionary concepts. For the most part, evolutionists and theistic evolutionists, aka people who believe in evolution, all seem to agree that evolution should be taught in US public schools. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scientists aim to gain knowledge and improve the power output, the time duration, and the energy cost. Nuclear fusion is a process that occurs when two hydrogen isotopes (tritium and deuterium) fuse together. This reaction produces a neutron and also a large amount of energy. However, a massive amount of heat is necessary for the reaction to initiate because the nuclei (which have very strong opposing charges) must fuse together. The temperature necessary for this to occur is over one hundred million degrees Kelvin. When the reaction occurs, the energy is so great that it is very difficult to contain. So far the known methods of containment are magnetic confinement and inertial confinement. The magnetic confinement uses a very powerful magnetic field, and the inertial confinement uses the inertia of the reaction. (Figure 1, wikipedia, ?nuclear fusion?) We will investigate published literature that either supports or reflects if fusion is feasible. We believe fusion would be a feasible source of power if it could produce reasonably more energy that is put in. Results and Discussion There are several methods to create nuclear fusion for power. However the revisionist view claims that the reformation was actually due to politics. Henry needed a male heir and therefore needed a divorce. In the diocese of Lincoln, which had 1,006 individual parishes, they only had 25 complaints of sexual misconduct for the whole year. The interesting fact is that after the reformation, the number of complaints rose. Surely this suggests that it was the reformation that caused the anti clericalism and not the other way round. • 37. Observation Of Toddlers The key to understanding children is observation. As observers, we begin to look for daily patterns in their behavior. Once patterns of behavior are recognized, the observer can then give positive guidance in securing the child s developmental needs. In observing a normal newborn s behaviors and activities, reflexes play an important role. They help to identify normal brain and nerve activity. In my observation of Baby A, she demonstrated reflexes of rutting in finding the nipple of her bottle, sucking, head turning and grasping of my fingers. Although she was born full term, she was quite small in stature and weight. She also showed alertness to senses of sight, hearing, taste and touch. Of course, at first, she slept most of the time while she was in my care, but as she aged, she became more active and alert. The key element to keeping Baby A happy was taking care of her physical needs first...diaper changes, feeding and burping. Although she is still very small in weight and height, she shows no sign of delayed development and is now a happy, healthy toddler. Children from about 1 to 2 years old are usually called toddlers. During these years, parents see tremendous growth and change. As an observer, I was able to see a Toddler B transform from a baby into a toddler right before my eyes. In my observation of Toddler B, he first appeared to be a healthy little butterball. He was very loving and secure in his surroundings. I observed that he was still breast fed. He ... Two artists, Artemisia Gentileschi and Mary Cassatt, chose to create pieces based on this bond, but the use of mediums and the influence from religion (or the lack thereof) help to distinguish between the artists and their time periods. Artemisia Gentileschi s Madonnaand Child, was created during the Baroque Period, c. 1609 (Brash), when the Catholic Church was sponsoring the arts to return to traditions Protestantism had disregarded (Baroque Artists). In The Young Mother ( The Young Mother ), the mother sits, with a slight smile, giving her the appearance of bliss and contentment in the simple act of holding her child. The child in each painting is an older baby, instead of a newborn, allowing the artists to show the child being old enough to hold himself up and be aware of his surroundings. By doing this, the artists were able to show the connection between the mother and child is mutual, that the child is aware of his mother s love in holding or feeding, and feels love in return. both artists use light to spotlight the mother and child. While the Baroque Period used bolder light and shadow (Baroque and the Age of Enlightenment 2.14), and Impressionists focused more on the way light fell across surfaces (Gersh Nesic), both utilized light to call attention to the mother and child. Modernism was rapidly developed at that time. This essay aims to explore the development of modernism after World War II by compare and contrast the two apartments which are Hansaviertel Apartment in German and Society Hill Towers in the USA. Grandiose Narcissism Facebook is a mirror and Twitter is a megaphone, according to a new University of Michigan (2013) study exploring how social media reflect and amplify the culture s growing levels of narcissism. Dr. Twenge of San Diego State University studied more than 16,400 students who took the Narcissistic Personality Inventory between 1982 and 2006. In 1982, only a third of the students scored above average on the test. Today that number is over 65%. Dr. Twenge warns that narcissists lack empathy, overreact to criticism, and favor themselves over others. They are incapable of cheering anyone else s success. Ultimately, they led miserable lives because they cannot form and maintain healthy relationships. (Aspen Education, 2011) Today s generation or the millenial generation has been well known for being the narcissistic generation. The term Narcissistic was coined from the story of Narcissus in Greek Mythology(Karrenbrock, 2012) Narcissus loved himself too much. The Millenial generation had dedicated a lot of contribution to this because of loving oneself too much like Narcissus. This gave way to Narcissism. There are two kinds of narcissism: the vulnerable narcissism and the grandiose narcissism. This study focused on grandiose narcissism or grandiosity. This opera has an aggressive starting which is represented by strong music. The opera begins outside a castle in Cyprus, near the shore in the midst of an unleashed evening storm full with queasy violin and horn undulations and high woodwind lightning flashes (Hepokoski, 1987). Verdi represents the storm with trumpets, cornets, and trombones. Then, followed by Cassio, Montano, and his full train, Otello enters the castle. Otello asks everyone to let him alone in order to stay with Desdemona, she moves closer to him. Her eyes are full of love, and to demonstrate her ecstasy, Verdi uses a solo, muted cello that swells with Otello s and Desdemona s emotions. Then, Otello starts to embrace her and starts singing his immense love: Gia nella note densa , and she calls him, Mio Superbo Guerrier . Then, singing a beautiful lyric, she asks him to remember how speaking both intimately was the foundation of their love: Do you remember , she says accompanied by the halo of an angelic harp arpeggio. The string instruments remove their mutes, and a grand, measured largo unfurls, the principal movement of the love duet (Hepokoski, 1987). The atoms of one element differ from the atoms of all other elements in atomic weight. Compounds are combinations of two or more different types of atoms. The hunter gatherers, located in the Fertile Crescent, collected cereal grains because they could be stored for a number of months if kept dry and safe. The storage of grains made it harder to have a nomadic lifestyle; therefore the people started staying in one place. This ties in with writing due to the fact that the people kept records of the amount that they were paid. Beer was actually healthy due to the fact that it wouldn t be completely fermented, therefore it would contain yeast that provided nutrients and vitamins. Free-Radical Chain Reaction Lab Report Free radical chain reactions involve the formation of halides and alkyl halides by reacting diatomic halogens with reactive hydrogens attached to hydrocarbons. In this experiment, diatomic bromine was reacted with various arenes to produce hydrobromic acid and alkyl halides. The mechanism behind this reaction can be characterized by three distinct phases: initiation, propagation, and termination. During the initiation step, bromine radicals are produced via thermal or photochemical homolysis. These bromine radicals then react with hydrogens attached to a hydrocarbon in the propagation step to produce hydrobromic acid and a carbon radical. The chain reaction continues since the carbon radical formed can react with another diatomic bromine molecule, producing a carbon bromine bond and regenerating a bromine radical. The termination step ends the reaction by reacting two bromine radicals with each other, lowering the concentration of highly reactive bromine radicals in solution....
