Outline Of An Argumentative Essay
Crafting an essay on the "Outline of an Argumentative Essay" can be both challenging and
rewarding. It requires a meticulous approach to organizing thoughts, constructing a logical
progression of ideas, and presenting compelling arguments. The difficulty lies in striking a
balance between clarity and complexity, ensuring that the outline effectively guides the reader
through the essay's main points.
To begin, one must have a profound understanding of the chosen topic, a keen awareness of the
target audience, and a mastery of the argumentative essay structure. Developing a coherent
outline involves selecting key arguments, arranging them in a logical order, and supporting each
point with relevant evidence. This process demands critical thinking skills, research prowess, and
the ability to synthesize information effectively.
Moreover, the writer must navigate the delicate task of anticipating counterarguments and
addressing them persuasively. This adds an additional layer of complexity, as it requires a
nuanced understanding of opposing viewpoints and the skill to refute them convincingly.
While the task may seem daunting, the satisfaction derived from constructing a well-crafted
argumentative essay is immensely gratifying. It not only hones one's writing abilities but also
cultivates the capacity to engage in thoughtful and respectful discourse.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the "Outline of an Argumentative Essay" demands intellectual
rigor, effective organization, and persuasive communication. However, the challenge is
outweighed by the valuable skills gained in the process. For those seeking assistance with similar
essays or any writing task, comprehensive support is available at HelpWriting.net.

Essay on Edgar Allan Poe
Edgar Allan Poe
Ralph Waldo Emerson called him the jingle man, Mark Twain said that his prose
was unreadable, and Henry James felt that a taste for his work was the mark of a
second rate sensibility. According to T. S. Eliot, quot;the forms which his lively
curiosity takes are those in which a preadolescent mentality delights. quot; After
notices like those, most reputations would be sunk without a trace, and yet Edgar
Allan Poe shows no sign whatsoever of loosening his extraordinary hold on our
imaginations. In 1959, Richard Wilbur, an elegant poet and a critic of refined taste,
inaugurated the Dell Laurel Poetry Series (mass market paperback selections from
classic British and American poets) with an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Allan, as parents, and he took their surname as his own middle name. In 1815,
business reasons led Allan to move to England for what would be a five year stay.
Both in London and then in Richmond after the family s return, Poe was well
educated in private academies. In 1825, he became secretly engaged to a girl named
Elmira Royster. The engagement, opposed by both families, was subsequently broken
off.
In 1826, Poe entered the University of Virginia, newly founded by former President
Thomas Jefferson. He distinguished himself as a student, but he also took to
drinking, and he amassed gambling debts of $2,000, a significant amount of
money at the time, which John Allan, although he had recently inherited a fortune,
refused to honor. After quarreling with Allan, Poe left Richmond in March 1827
and sailed to Boston, where, in relatively short order, he enlisted in the United
States Army (under the name Edgar A. Perry, and claiming to be four years older
than his actual age of eighteen) and published a pamphlet called Tamerlane and
Other Poems, whose author was cited on the title page only as quot;a Bostonian.
quot; This little book did not sell at all, but its few surviving copies are among the
most highly prized items in the rare book market; one accidentally discovered copy,
bought for a dollar, was recently auctioned for $150,000. Poe s military career went
more successfully. After two years, he had been promoted to sergeant major, the

Operant Conditioning Analysis
When I was young, I was very afraid of deep or large bodies of water. I would
scream and thrash and refuse to go into the water deeper than my knees. While
occasionally I still become nervous, I now have mostly overcome this fear. After
analyzing this fear through classical conditioning, operant conditioning, and social
cognitive learning, I have come up with a few explanations for the origin, and
alteration, of this behavior. I first tried to explain my behavior by learning about
classical conditioning. Classical conditioning is where a behavior is learned during a
period called acquisition. There are four stages, or parts, of acquisition. The
unconditioned stimulus (UCS), is when a stimulus is presented that elicits an
instinctive response that has not been learned. The unconditioned response (UCR),
which directly relates to the UCS, being the response elicited by the UCS. Then
comes the conditioned stimulus (CS), which is a... Show more content on

Operant conditioning is the modification of behavior through consequences. There
are two main types of consequences, reinforcement and punishment. Reinforcement is
where a behavior is strengthened by the stimulus that follows. Punishment is where a
behavior is decreased or weakened by the stimulus that follows. And then the type of
stimulus that followed is classified by being positive or negative. Positive is where
something is added or presented to the situation. Negative is where something is
taken away or removed from the situation. These types of stimuluses, and types of
consequences, can be combined into four types of operant conditioning. Positive
reinforcement, where something is added to strengthen a behavior. Negative
reinforcement, where something is taken away to strengthen a behavior. Positive
punishment, where something is added to weaken a behavior. And negative
punishment, where something is taken away to weaken behavior (Passer,
Most Common Orthopedic Surgeries
What are the top most common Orthopedic Surgeries?
The Orthopedic Surgery involves treatment of the conditions of muscles as well as
skeletons through surgical methods. Initially, the orthopedic surgeons try to treat the
ailment with non surgical methods, but in the cases of failures of such methods the
orthopedic problems are then treated through surgical methods. There are many types
of treatments that a surgeon performs on its patients according to their problem, but
there are some procedures that are noted as the most common. Here are 4 most

Developing And Marketing Computer Hardware Systems
Introduction
Reading through the requirement of this paper there were several options to choose
from. There are several companies that offer integration to their customers such as
SAP which is the leader in ERP solutions, Oracle which came to the industry after
acquiring PeopleSoft back in 2005, Microsoft, and IBM. Reading the materials
throughout this semester was interesting as it gave me an inside view of system
integration and it made me think of the architecture of how companies integrate their
system or the high level thought of how things are done when big companies acquire
other companies. Researching all these four big companies, I found that Oracle had a
lot of products that integrate systems and it seems they have a solution for a lot of
major industry with pre defined modules that help jump start the integration process.
Everyone knows oracle as it s a global computer technology company. The company
primary specializes in developing and marketing computer hardware systems. The
company also builds and develops databases and database products. , middle tier
software, resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management and supply
chain management software.
In this paper I am specifically looking at the Oracle E Business Suite, which is the
most complete suite of integrated, global business applications that enables the
company to make better decisions, reduce cost, and increase performance. The Oracle
E Business helps customers manage the complexity
Antibiotic Resistance To Antibiotics
Antibiotic Resistance The increasing resistance of bacteria to antibiotics is a growing
problem that affects individuals on a global status. Antibiotic resistance refers to the
ability of bacteria to alter their genetic material and mutate to avoid destruction by
antibiotic medications rendering the drugs ineffective in fighting infection and
disease. This resistance has had tragic effects as numerous of the resistant infections
have resulted in death of the host. Because of the severity of this condition,
organizations and institutions across the globe have been working together to study
and examine the best strategies to combat these resistant bacteriaor sometimes
referred to as superbugs . Many innovations have been proposed and implemented in
attempts to rid people of their infections. The discussion of which approaches are the
most effective and cost efficient has been taking place for decades and is still
occurring today along with further investigations of alternatives to antibiotics
altogether. Researchers are also attempting to understand what has caused the
problem of antibiotic resistanceand how this problem has developed. Efforts to
contest these bacteria are extremely important and it is now up to the next generation
of health care providers, researchers, and educators to implement the best ways to
keep people healthy. There is much speculation about what has caused the increased
resistance of bacteria to antibiotics and how this problem has developed.
The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat Essay
The Man Who Mistook His Wife for A Hat by Oliver Stacks is a book that explains
why a patient shows signs of losses, excesses, transports, simplicity. The book opens
with titling letting the reader get their own image in their mind about the accomplish
doctor, who lost his true sight on life. In the story, there are breakdowns that causes
the reader to have a better understanding of how the human mind truly works. The
book The Man Who Mistook His Wife for A Hatis interesting story that makes the
readers debate about which side is the right one.
Dr. P who is the man described in the story, has accomplished a lot of things as a
doctor, and also is a talented music teacher. Who seems to be a person with no
problems in his life, but due to Dr. Sacks analyses, Dr. P confuses himself with the
simple things, such as putting the wrong foot in the wrong shoe. This is extremely
surprising that arouse the doctor and the reader to know why he mistakes objects
for objects. Following the story, later Dr. P and his wife are preparing to leave, so
Dr. P grabs his wife s head and tries to pull it off as if it were his hat, in order to

Analysis Of Emily Bronte s Wuthering Heights
BrontГ« also compares the characters indirectly, as she did the houses. Two very
prominent characters she displays in this way include Lockwood and Isabella. They
are both fundamental narrators in the work. Lockwood does so directly through his
retelling of Nelly s recounting of the story, and Isabella does so through her letter to
Nelly explaining her relationship and life with Heathcliffsoon after they were
married. Although Isabella only briefly seen as a narrator, she and Lockwood have
various similarities in their styles and traits. Their similarities begin through their
experiences, which serve as a basis for their narration. Both characters have horrible

Lockwood can escape the problems easily, but Isabella can t because she lives them
on a daily basis, by being Heathcliff s wife.
Heathcliff also serves as a pivotal character used in comparison. Although Heathcliff
is correlated to various characters throughout the novel, the main one is Catherine.
Their tendencies to act childish in times of loneliness undermine their intelligence
and evoke a sort of animosity from the audience. Based on their lack of love
throughout childhood from anyone but one another, both Heathcliff and Catherine
have turned to loneliness as a permanent resort to their obstacles in life. They both
have this overwhelming, self inflicted lack of social interest, yet they are constantly
longing for company (Levy 4). This serves as a detrimental trait they both possess,
that ends up deteriorating them both in various ways, and eventually completely.
Their defense mechanisms are even presented as the same, because when they re
hurting or feel threatened due to another s actions, they basically retreat and seclude
themselves from everyone (Galef 5). Their loneliness, which is the basis for how
they treat others, serves as their overall similarity, and is something that is evident in
all of their actions. Characters aren t only presented in comparison to one another,
but are also characterized themselves in various ways. There are two characters that

Chile Trench Research Paper
The Peru Chile Trench, also known as the Atacama Trench, is an oceanic trench in
the eastern Pacific Ocean. It s a fault line that is 100 miles off the coast of Peru and
Chile, and also happens to be the fault line that we were assigned. The Peru Chile
Trench reaches a maximum depth of 26,460 ft below sea level in Richard Deep and
is approximately 3,666 miles long, meaning that the width is 40 miles and it covers
an expanse of about 228,000 square miles.
The trench marks the subduction of the Nazca plate under the South American plate.
The Nazca plate is conveniently named after the Nazca region of the southern part of
Peru, and is an oceanic plate in the eastern Pacific Ocean, right off the west coast of
South America. The subduction mentioned earlier is when Nazca plate is forced
down and goes under the South American plate, where it then digs into the mantle.
The subduction of the Nazca Plate below the South American Plate along the Chile
Peru Trench is associated with numerous earthquakes. Several of these earthquakes
are notable for their size, associated tsunamis or landslides. Nazca ... Show more

they all use the same running form. Also, there are so many benefits that are offered

Johann Pachelbel s Influence On The Baroque Era
It s hard to imagine a bride processing down the aisle without one of two pieces
playing in your head, the first likely being Here Comes The Bride. But of the
second, we generally do not hear much about the composer himself beyond the ever
arranged and widely known canon; Canon in D Major by Johann Pachelbel. Most
known for this Canon in D Major, Johann Pachelbelis considered one of the most
influential musical figures from the Baroqueera. A German born composer, teacher
and organist, Pachelbel is said to be a primary contributor to German organ music.
His music was highly successful during his lifetime and has continued to stay a
relevant fixture in today s world. In this paper, I will show that Johann Pachelbel was

However, he was more than just a precursor of Bach, his fundamental concepts
were essential for the composers of the following generations. He learned a
significant amount during his time in Eisenach before moving on to the city of
Erfurt. Thompson s research states, In 1678, for a lengthier period, as organist at
the Prediger church in Erfurt, his first wife and child died of the plague; ; Tragedy
struck too soon and it took nearly twenty years for Pachelbel to eventually settle
back to his hometown of Nuremburg where he remained for the rest of his life.
However, it is important to note that while Pachelbel was residing in Erfurt, research
indicates that, he wrote approximately 70 organ chorale preludes, in which core
techniques and structural patterns of the time are exploited . Erfurt was where
Pachelbel came into his own as an accomplished Baroque composer and organist
while writing a significant amount of his repertoire.
Music during the Baroque period (1600 1750) can be identified by its usage of
ornamentation, tonality, complexity of instrumental performance and the
implementation of the canon and dance suite, and many musical phrases and
concepts from the Baroque period are still used today in modern music. Author of

The Pollution Of The Air Pollution
Most people have felt or took in the air pollutants coming from a car but little did they
know what the consequences that smell or the soot may present. The black smoke,
and sometimes invisible pollutants, are causing harm all over the earth without
people realizing it. Car pollution can cause disruption to human s health, the
environment, and the cities in just a matter of time and in many different ways. The
air pollutionfrom cars contains various components that all can factor into harming
humans health. According to The Environmental Protection Agency s actions,
they took away a key part of the pollution from gasoline:lead. This is a dangerous
component of gas because it affects parts of the body such as organs, the brain, and
the nervous system. Children gain the worst effects from the lead but everyone
can gain bad side effects and problems from a simple part of pollution going into
the air (Cars, Trucks, Buses, and Nonroad). Lead is a very harsh component of gas
and is definitely a part of pollution that you do not want to expose kids to because
of the even more dangerous effects it has on them compared to adults. Along with
the elimination of lead, Baines states that Diesel engines power most large
vehicles like buses and trucks. They are also becoming more popular in cars. They
use less fuel, but if they are not tuned properly, they can create a lot of black smoke
and soot. It is suspected that this can cause cancer in some people (Baines 22). If
Precarious Work Vs Single Women Essay
Secondly, precarious work affects the living state of women financially as single
mothers and how they were seen dependent primarily on their husbands wages and
occupational choices. Now as single mothers they are unable to escape the
debilitating effects of impoverishment which is shown through Ann Duffy and Nancy
Mandell s article. This article articulates that a women s income drops by 20 to 40
percent as single motherbecause they do not have a male as a breadwinner for the
family(Duffy and Mandell, 253). Females are more likely to experience this
situation because if they do go into the work workforce they are payed less than
men. Single mothers tend to be stigmatized when they receive social assistance in
taking care of their children due to the Victorian ideals of society that women should
follow their role of domestic work.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The precarious work of these single mothers portray that they are unable to afford a
living with their work low paying jobs, thus living a life near poverty. In
comparison to single mothers, teenage mothers go through the same experience of
low wage jobs due to the fact that they do not have the qualifications for a secure
and protected job, thus forcing them into the dangerous workforce. Moreover, Duffy
and Mandell s article not only expresses the struggles of single mothers but it also
affects their children and how they are at risk of likely going into poverty like their
mothers. I believe being financially unsettled has an major impact on one s life
considering that these single mothers have to experience situations in life that they
had never thought of and live a life of misfortune through hazardous work in order to
sustain the health of themselves and their
Conjoined Twins
Conjoined twins happen once in every 200,000 live births (Maryland). Conjoined
twins are identical twins whose bodies are joined in utero. Most are stillborn and
others are born with severe abnormalities that make living a normal life almost
impossible. The survival rate of conjoined twins is between 5 percent and 25 percent
(Maryland). The most common form of conjoined twins is thoracopagus twins. These
types of twins share the same heart. Some of the other types of conjoined twins
include omphalopagus in which the twins are conjoined at the lower chest but no
heart is involved. Parasitic twins are when twins are asymmetrically conjoined. One
twin is dependent on the larger twin for survival. Another type of twin is the
craniopagus twins... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most often one twin can survive but the other will die. The quality of life of the
twins has to bad enough that risking one life or possibly two will be worth it.
There are also many reasons for surgically separating conjoined twins. Conjoined
twins often need to be separated in order to survive. Separating the conjoined twins
can help to save one or possibly both twins. It is also allowing for one or both to
have a normal, long life. Separation can guarantee survival for at least one twin
which seems to be the most beneficent. A good quality of life for at least one
person seems to outweigh a bad quality of life and possibly a shortened life of two
conjoined persons. One ethical principle relating to the issue is beneficence.
Beneficence means to do what is good. Beneficence is tough when it comes to the
separation of conjoined twins because of the many issues that lie in the decision. The
beneficent principle goes hand in hand with the utilitarian theory which is making a
decision that brings about the most benefit to the most people. Both choices have
beneficent aspects. Keeping the twins conjoined is good for the parents of the
children, the children, and anyone who is close with them such as family and friends.
It can make them happy and help them psychologically. Separating the twins can be
good for the parents and the twins if they survive and get to live a productive and
good life. It also

Gender Stereotypes And Expectations In Literature
Everyone knows that boys only want one thing, and girls, above all else, must protect
their virtue. Society, through such means as literature, popular culture, and tradition,
has perpetuated these gender stereotypes and expectations for much of history.
Unconscious and conscious assumptions about gendershape how readers perceive sex
in literature; men are typically considered lustful, whereas women are considered
loving. However, the subjects of sex, love, and lust in literature, as demonstrated in
poems written by Robert Burns and Andrew Marvell, become increasingly nuanced
when gender stereotypes and expectations are questioned and removed. Gender roles,
expectations, and stereotypes have shifted and become less clearly defined... Show

He says that the youthful hue / sits on [her] skin like morning dew, but that this fresh
beauty will soon fade (Marvell 584; 33 34).
The description of this woman supports stereotypes of both genders. The man is
lustful, and his tactic is to appeal to the woman s shallow vanity. He appeals to her
desire for love by almost offhandedly tacking on how he would like to know her heart
(Marvell 583; 18). Additionally, he says that, should they act upon his lustful desires,
they would be like amorous birds of prey (Marvell 584; 38). The contradictory image
of loving raptors enforces the stereotype of a predatory man spouting any lovely lie
to get a woman in his bed. A Red, Red Rose by Robert Burns is not as overtly sexual
as To His Coy Mistress. However, Burns was notoriously promiscuous, and his
subject matter was often of a sexual nature. It is safe to say that his purpose in this
poem was a sexual purpose. He says his luve s like a red, red rose / that s newly
sprung in June (Burns 935; 1 2). He also describes his love as a beautiful song
being sweetly played in tune (Burns 935; 1 2). He uses this flowery language to
appeal to women s stereotypical love for beauty and emotion. He additionally
appeals to an overemotional woman by using hyperbolic language to describe his
love. He claims that he will love this woman until all the seas dry up and the rocks
melt wi the sun
Communication Is A Core Social Work Skills
Sam the service user was played by an actor. I conducted a 10 minutes mock
interview with him. Two members of academic staff and one real service user
were observing the progress of the interview. The assessment was filmed. To be
able to reflect critically, I was provided with a copy of the video clip along with the
observer s feedback. The remit of the task was to gain a broad understanding of
Sam s background. I believe that the role playing exercise along with this reflective
account helped me a great deal to understand and develop some of the key skills
involved in effective communication and interviewing clients. Communication is a
core Social Work skill (Trevithick, 2005 p1). Through verbal and non verbal
communication, service users are enabled to explore their difficulties.
Consequently, service users may gain a clear understanding on how to cope or
resolve their issues more effectively. After the interview, I allocated some time to
reflect on the role play activity. Considering the short nature of the interview and
my limited experience in assessing service users 1to1, I felt positive about my
overall performance. I exhibited some key skills, but also, I noted some
shortcomings I need to address before commencing into professional practice. The
way a social worker interviews a client can have a profound impact on the quality of
the responses given. Looking back at the interview, I feel that I structured the
interview well. I feel that I introduced myself, my role

Analysis Of The Right To Bear Clubs By Dave Barry
The right to bear clubs is a biting satire by Dave Barry in which he employs satire
and many of its techniques to stealthily poke fun at heated topic of gun ownership
and regulation in the United States. Berry seems to be targeting the governments
poor handling of the gun crisis by using a Ballistic Driver golf club as an allegory
for a firearm while bringing up arguments used for and against firearms. The

A Female Athlete Victory Doesn t Have The Same Bite
When you re a female athlete victory doesn t have the same bite ,there is a certain
lackluster and supressment in winning that many female athletes can attest to.Burton

Sorry ,she accounts for not only the grievances that she herself faced as a femalein a
gendered society but also ones that professional female athletes have to go
through.Burton Nelson starts of her narrative with an anecdote on Sylvia Plath,a well
known poet noted for committing suicide. Nelson makes use of Sylvia s letter to her
mother Aurelia Platt, her tendency to cater to men and her spelling bee contest to
help keep her argument composed and clear. She uses these events to frame her ideas
that women in sports aren t accepted in society unless they have grace in

manner and female athletes need to catering to their malecounterparts ego.
Nelson uses the plact anecdote to structure her view that women in sports are

Cross Cultural Communication And Cultural Differences
When people think of business, rarely do we associate culture with the concept. This
leads to an issue in cross cultural communication. By analyzing cross cultural
communication, and its miscommunication in cultural differences, it is clear that
employees should know more of a country s defining culture. Only recently have we
seen an emphasis in understanding other country s cultures. In doing so, some
businesses have prospered, while others have suffered after a terrible
miscommunication. When dealing with culture, there are three segments that an
employee should consider. What can be done before, during and after contact is made
with the culture. In effectively preparing for one, a business may successfully send
the message they wish to their client.
Before even beginning communications, an individual should research the culture.
When researching the culture, individuals should identify and understand normal
business patterns in that location. This may include doing work before communication
is started. For instance, in other cultures it is customary for a friendship to develop
before communications may begin. In attempting to be on a friendly basis, clients
may be more forgiving if a cultural mistake is made. While in other cultures, giving
a gift before a negotiation takes place is normal. Lastly if possible the individual
should be aware of the current state of affairs in the opposing nation to avoid
sensitive subjects. This all depends on the culture though that is

The Masque Of Blackness Essay
In 17th Century England, the idea of different races and cultures was new, and
therefore, a novelty; anything that differed from the norm was highly valued and
sought after. Noble people and professional actors took advantage of this and put on
The Masque of Blackness, a production in which many of its actors appeared in
blackface. The masques were elaborate performances, made to praise the monarch,
with larger than life costumes and staging that combined songs, dances, and acting
into a presentation that depicted gods and goddesses, and pastoral settings. Although
the play is meant to be for entertainment, it begins to cross lines when the
performance becomes a spectacle of racism and exoticism. In Benjamin Jonson s The

But eventually, his fame led him to King James court. At the request of Queen Anne
of Denmark, wife to King James I of England, he wrote The Masque of Blackness.
The masque was written as the discovery of the New World and global expansion
into Africa was occurring. This influx of new cultures, races, religions, and other
ideas created the perfect chance for Jonson to bring these concepts to the court stage
and please the monarchs whom the praise would be focused on.
The Masque of Blackness first premiered in 1605 in the banquet hall of Whitehall
Palace in London, England at the height of global expansion. The banquet hall itself
was temporary at this time, but was later built by the architect, Inigo Jones, who also
staged The Masque of Blackness. It was rebuilt in 1619 after the previous hall
burned down in a fire and completed. The hall was used for entertainment purposes,
especially designed to put on the elaborate masques and other performances. Queen
Anne and her ladies of the court got to be the main characters of the masque because
of Anne s status and because she chose the topic. Jonson annotates in the masque:
Hence, because it was her majesty s will to have them blackmoors at first, the
invention was derived by me. If he wanted to maintain his position and recognition,
Jonson had to cater to the monarch s wishes for the

Charles Dickens The Signalman and A Birthday by Karen Mansfield
A signalman is a short story written by Charles Dickens. This is a story about a
signalman who is driven mad by the environment of his work, away from sunlight
and people. But he was not alone; a supernatural ghost decides to accompany him
too. He has a lot of responsibilities to shoulder.
There are only two characters that really are prominent in the short story. In fact in the
story, there are only about three to five characters. The important characters are the
signalman and the narrator. Charles Dickens uses dialogue to make the characters
more appealing and easier to understand. He has written exactly what was need to

Later on in the story he also stops talking to the narrator, as his job comes first and
his problems later, In charge of his duties
I observed him to be remarkably exact and vigilant, breaking off his discourse at a
syllable, and remaining silent until what he had to do was done. The signalman
seemed to love his work even if he did not love his work he was always very devoted
to his work.
I believe that one s work environment or even home environment defines a person and
that is what builds one s character. The signalman had nothing in his life except his
job; he had nothing to return to his home for, no wife or children. His work
environment was unpleasant and seems unhealthy and the narrator saw this as
stepping into the
unknown, ...As if I left the natural world/... entrance to a black tunnel, in whose the
massive architecture there was a barbarous depressing, and forbidding air... it had
an earthly deadly smell/ His post was in as solitary and dismal place as ever I saw.
A limitation was placed on the signalman through his work. He could not go out and
enjoy the sun and light for a few minutes and the signalman did not even try to go
and enjoy, he was too devoted to his work. The signalman had to live
Comparing The Film V For Vendetta And The Song Get

Comparative analyses exploring the film V for Vendetta and the song Get Up Stand
Up by Bob Marley and how they relate to the social context of Marxism.
One of the themes that influenced many artists in the past is standing up for your
rights. V for Vendetta (2005) and Bob Marley s Get Up, Stand Up (1973) has been
chosen because the author supports these works fit into the social context of Marxism.
From the outset, Marxism will be examined in terms of the historical aspect and
materialistic ideology. Moreover, the study will look at how these elements were
manipulated by the powers that be. There follows a short synopsis of the film V
for Vendetta and an analysis of specific scenes that relate to the Marxist theory.
Subsequently, the discussion will focus on Marley s influence on Jamaican politics
and consequently an analysis on how Marley s Get Up Stand Up (1973) lyrics relate
to Marxism. Lastly, by implementing appropriate approaches there will be a critical
comparison on how these works relate to Marxism (explanation).

The Downward Spiral of the United States Economy In the world to date, there
seems to be an increase of world governments needing bailouts, and people of the
world needing assistance from the United States. This idea has caused many
Americans to come to the conclusion that if the United States closed off borders to
foreign trade, it would increase it s standard of living and make America more
profitable. However, this idea is false. The United States must not close off it s

United States imports sixty percent of all oil used from foreign nations (Lugar). If
foreign oil was not imported, an immediate price rise would be in effect on the oil
that is gathered and stored internally. Because it can take five to ten years to start
up an oil processing plant, the oil reserves in the US would be depleted. The price
for a gallon of gasoline would double, seriously affecting transportation: Saudi

thousands of American jobs would be lost. Diesel is used in the transportation of

stopped importing foreign oil, and the prices on both gasoline and diesel rose
exorbitantly: so too would the cost of the products they carried and helped to create.
Transporting goods state to state would become costly and eventually, would stop

Within his journey, you see him compare religion to a race. Through this he shares
that there is no formula for life, because each person lives life differently, what

A recent survey determined that the average American consumer can guess the
price of a new car within that margin of $1000. On the other hand, the same
consumers were asked to estimate the cost of a four day hospital stay, on average
their estimates were off by over $12,000 (Herrick, 2007). Furthermore, 68 percent
of consumers surveyed who had recent medical care actually did not know the cost
until the actual bill arrived and another 11 percent never learned of the actual cost
of care (Herrick, 2007). The international healthcare market often openly post
medical procedure pricing so savvy consumers may compare prices. Additionally,
providers that do not offer fixed prices are willing to provide reasonable quotes. As
a result of these practices, overseas medical centers are able to draw in large
numbers of medical tourists who seek out the best value of treatment. Overseas
medical facilities are also able to keep prices lower due to the lack of cross
subsidies. In the United States, full service nonprofit hospitals may utilize revenues
from some treatments as a means to cover costs of providing other procedures to
other patients. This cross subsidization process is made possible because some
medical procedures produce more revenue than what the actual costs are. For
example, the revenue generated from specialty services and or procedures such as
heart catheterizations, or diagnostic radiological procedures may be utilized

The positives of being an individual are more present in the media but the negatives

Cormier the main character Jerry has to deal with reality that it s not so easy to go

individuality affects his social , personal life, and societal pressures and bullying .
The first thing The Chocolate War highlights is the effects individuality has on the
protagonist Jerry Renault throughout the story. After Jerry decides to not sell

Reinforcement In Corrections
There are several departments that come to mind when thinking about corrections
such as, the police, the court system and jail or prison facilities. After a crime has
been committed, I typically think about the subsequent police detainment of the
offender. Proceeding with the arrest, I think about the trial in court that may or may
not be given based on the allegation. Based upon the verdict, the criminal is either
innocent or is sentenced to jail or prison.
I disagree with the argument that putting criminals in prison reduces crime because of
the evidence of negative reinforcement. In a society that typically focuses on
negativity, combating criminal activity becomes the main concern for law

Puritan Guilt
Puritan Guilt in Nathaniel Hawthorne s Short Stories
Nathaniel Hawthorne s fiction is important to American literature in part because of
the way he infused his stories with characters who struggle with experiences to which
all readers can relate. Hawthorne is so well known for his powerful and complex
characters that some of them, like The Scarlet Letter s martyred Hester Prynne,
manipulative Roger Chillingworth, and troubled Arthur Dimmesdale, for example,
have become archetypal characters for generations of storytellers use after
Hawthorne. Partially due to all his richly wrought characters, Hawthorne created
stories that continue to inspire thought and debate about these tales questions, ideas,
and themes. One such recurring theme connects to part of Hawthorne s own heritage,
namely his ancestor the infamous Puritan judge John Hathorne of the Salem witch
trials. In many of Nathaniel Hawthorne s short stories, especially The Gentle ... Show

Hooper and his guilt in this light, too, noticing, Throughout his fiction Hawthorne .

further that Father Hooper in The Minister s Black Veil goes to his grave wearing a

unlikely, Hooper would still understand that his parishioners would see the veil as
guilt nonetheless, and by choosing to wear the veil regardless seems to indicate that

Shaw s work of art is not about the fairy tale happy ending but about something
believable and sensible. Slowly over months Liza s tough, gutter , exterior was

one willing to sit down and serve another. Independence races through her and the
moment she throws the slippers at Higgins pieces are being restored, she no longer
will be a servant of his nor does she want any position that would make her one for
the rest of her life. Any form of relationship to Higgins involving romantic
attachment does not allow Eliza to be herself or to feel superior to anyone. Freddy
offers the companionship she needs, with support, love, and no shadow to stand
in. Shaw s romance is more about the making of her person not of any relationship
with another character, it is Eliza s relationship with herself. Although Eliza s self
worth was not determined by her standing in life she realized that she deserved
more, she respected herself enough to know that Higgins was not the kind of man
she would want a relationship with. She needed someone who cared for her
passionately, not one who treated her just as he treated everyone else badly. Eliza is
strong and she finds it within herself to look for the love she deserves and the life
she deserves without the constant ridicule of a man who will never truly respect

Lord Farquaad s Use Of Satire In Shrek
The movie, Shrek shows criticism through some satires in many ways which most
people prefer more beautiful things and judge others by looking at their
appearance, instead of personality. One of them is that people in the town are
scared of Shrek because he has a terrifying image. Therefore, most people don t
prefer to get close to him and see him as a monster. They actually don t know what
personality does Shrekhave or how he behaves, they just never want to talk with
him and treat him as equal as other humans. Since people judge Shrek by his
appearance and has own stereotypes, it has consequently led Shrek to live by
himself isolated from the town, inside the woods. Secondly, Lord Farquaad looks for
the gorgeous princess to marry so he

Most of the known HEXA mutations cause a version of beta hexosaminidase A that

Youth Violence Essay
Youth Violence
Youth violence is an escalating problem in American society today. There are many
different factors that can be blamed for this problem. During the last decade of the
twentieth century people began searching for answers to this dilemma which is
haunting America. Many tragic school shootings have taken place within the last
decade that have gained the attention of the public. As of now, no one can give the
right answer to the problem or the reason that it happens because there is no right
answer yet and nobody can be sure that they know the cause. All we have to go by
are the opinions of different people. The most popular cause of the problem of youth
violence is the media. In The Erosion of Empathy, Sissela ... Show more content on

This statement brings up another opinion, the opinion that children s behavior stems
from their parents or elders behaviors. A young male, who is brought up in a violent
household, is more likely to be violent outside of the home. This idea brings us back
to the saying monkey see, monkey do; what children see is what they will do. Among
our many solutions to youth violence is the idea that too many guns are not the
problem, but too few guns is the problem. The Colorado Legislature is currently
debating a bill to further enhance the state s conceal carry statute. Those backing the
measure say that a teacher or administrator with a concealed gun could have stopped,
or greatly minimized, the Littleton tragedy. (Lee 255) Lee says, Blaming guns for
such incidents...is ludicrous. His solution to our rising problem of youth violence is
not censoring the media, but is bringing more guns in the mainstream. This does not
mean children walking around school armed. It means putting more guns into the
right hands. At first glance this proposals sounds pretty good. When one puts some
thought into it, it somewhat changes their perspective on the issue. Does this solution
seem ethical; giving guns

Social Class In The Book Thief
Social class is what defines humans. We are classified based on our wealth, power,
authority and prestige in society. Social class can alter your morals as diverse social
classes possess different moral values. In The Book Thief, there are several characters
who all come from a lower social class, yet some have different personal morals. How
the characters used their social classis what makes their personal morals different.
The Hubermanns lived on a street that was filled with lower class families. The
population of Himmel Street struggled to provide food and water for their families.
What made the characters different from one another was the attitude they had
towards their lifestyle. They could still be optimistic, compassionate and caring...

turned to the Nazi culture, it caused his personal morals to shift because he altered
what he recognized was significant in his life. Hans Jr. stepped into a different
type of culture that he may not have been used to. He was drawn to the concept of
being dedicated to Hitler and when his father was not, it caused Hans Jr. to shift
his morals and be disrespectful to his family members. In numerous cultures, there
are several values that we are exposed to, which can affect our individual morals.
We are exposed to these values through family, peers, authorities and religion. They
are absorbed as a child and then processed and reevaluated throughout our lives
which causes our morals to vary. The cultural values can be used accordingly if we
choose to. Everyone is in charge of their own beliefs and how they behave with
them, so it is possible for individuals to share the same culture but have separate
personal morals. In modern day society, there are cultural differences which cause
conflicts between one another. In September 2001, nearly 3,000 people were dead
because of a disagreement in personal morals. The group that was behind the 9/11
attack had a culture that was different, compared to one in North America. The logic
for the attack was for the United States to reduce support on the Middle Eastern
regimes. Due to the culture of ISIS, the group decided that crashing two airplanes
into skyscrapers would be a suitable method to achieve their mission. Other

The Importance of Good Communication between Nurses
and...
Communication When I am communicating with others, I try to explain my point
in a way the person can understand it. When talking with one of my parents about
something that happened at school, I may try to describe things in a different way
than I would with someone who is in the class with me. When I am trying to
describe an object or maybe directions, I use my hands or body movements to help
me better describe what I m talking about. On a normal day, I communicate with
my fiancГ© via telephone as we are in different places throughout the week. I also
enjoy communicating with friends that are not in the area by text message or
Facebook. When I have something serious or important to discuss with my
parents, I usually give them a call or talk to them about it on the weekends when I go
home. They are almost always available to talk when I call. When I m sick or in pain,
I usually want to be left alone. I ll take over the counter medicines to try to relieve
symptoms and if the sickness/pain persists for over a week or two, I will go in to see
a doctor. I know my familyis always there though to take care of me if needed.

When talking to a family member, I m a little more comfortable standing within
arm s reach. When talking to a friend or a coworker, I m probably not as
comfortable standing that close. I would say I m not a very touchy person when it
comes to people in general. If a stranger were to touch me, my first reaction would be
to step away from them and figure

Meditation s Benefits On Human Health
Question: A Research Essay on Meditation s Benefits on Human s Health
Meditation has been a prominent aspect in our culture since the beginning of
humanity. It originated from prehistoric lands of Asia where it was cultivated as a
part of religious rituals. Nowadays, it is practiced to calm our minds and enhance
health, as well as to prevent many diseases. Meditation is an effective way to
overcome fears and recover from alcohol, drug and gambling addictions. Furthermore,
meditation has many different types therefore anybody can find one suitable for
them. Through its thoughtfully designed posture we are able to concentrate on our
minds letting our thoughts fade away. This state of thoughtless awareness, known as
a meditation, has a positive impact on our physical and mental health.
First of all, meditating regularly can significantly affect our mental health. Sri Sri

meditation is an effective and cheap measure that should be adopted in common

simple, yet peaceful practice accessible for everyone that it should be commonly
used in daily lives of many people. Having such an impressive amount of health

Upper Classes Are a Nation s Past; the Middle Class Is Its...
Upper classes are a nation s past; the middle class is its future. This quote was
written by Ayn Rand. The meaning of this quote is that the upper class was important
in the past, but now in the future, the middle class will be the important class. It
relates to the story because in Russia during this time period, the upper classwas the
important class and the lower class had no rights. Anton Chekhov is the author of
The Bet , The Lottery Ticket , and Oh! The Public . Anton was from Russia and in
the three stories he represents Russia from 1881 to 1896. He also slides in his life
experiences and things that had to do with him in his stories. The theme, class
structure, is shown in the stories Oh! The Public, The Bet, and The Lottery... Show

The Lottery Ticket made the two main characters feel as in they were part of the
other two classes, which they were not.
Anton Chekhov made these stories to represent how Russia was at the time,
showing the class structures that they had, and what the different classes did. In
the story The Bet , it shows how the higher class was. The higher class would do
silly things and things that weren t important with their money. Since they were
rich they didn t care what they would spend their money on. In this story, the
banker makes a bet with a lawyer, to see if he can resist in prison for fifteen years,
and the banker wouldn t win anything out of it, so he didn t care what he wasted
his money on. In the story Oh! The Public , it shows how the different classes
would treat each other. If you were in the lower class you could do nothing about
what the middle and higher class did to you. The higher class treated the lower class
with no respect and to the middle class with a little respect. The middle class treated
the lower class worse than how the upper class treated the working poor. As you
see in this story, the invalid, who was a middle class person, treated Podtyagin, who
was the ticket collector, with no respect. All Podtyagin wanted to do was his job,
which was collect the passenger s tickets. The invalid made his job hard, because he
would just complain and not give Podtyagin his ticket. The
Response To Universal Healthcare
Honorable Congressman Faso
In your response to universal health care you got one thing right and one partially
correct.
On the right one is I do disagree with you on having universal health care the other
was it would raise taxes this is where your not forthcoming, yes it would raise taxes
but most if not all would be offset by not having to pay for health care. Imagine if
you can, someone with preexisting conditions not having to pay for health care? That
person could lead a productive life that would benefit everyone including the
government by paying more in taxes again offsetting the cost of universal health care.
Looked into your example of England s health care problem, wish you had given a

J.D. Salinger s Franny and Zooey Essay
J.D. Salinger s Franny and Zooey
Works Cited Missing
In the novel Franny and Zooey, J.D. Salinger uses the Glass family to deliver his
beliefs on religion and society during this time. One way in which he does this is by
delivering the novel into two short stories. One deals with Franny, a young female
who is at a crossroad with her beliefs, and the other deals with her brother Zooey
who tries to help his sister through her difficulties. Once this book was published in
1961, it was an instant hit and made its way to the best seller list. Over the years
there were many critical essays written discussing Salinger s intended purpose for this
novel. In A Prefacefor Franny and Zooey John P. McIntyre explores whether Salinger

In Salinger s work, the two estates the world and the cutely sensitive young never
really touch at all...Zooey and Franny and Buddy (like Seymour before them)
know that the great mass of prosperous spirituals savages in our society will never
understand them (McIntyre 2). What is seems McIntyre is trying to say is that
these characters ideas about religion and society don t mix at all. They are two
totally different entitles, and if they were to mix, then it would ruin the whole
purpose of the novel itself. If these two did mix then the lessons learned through the
novel would be lost. Franny along with the reader learn that it s important to honor
others even if they are hard to deal with for example like the feelings that Franny has
towards her college professors. Also that this separations shows that the story is about
love just as much as religion and spirituality.
The next example demonstrating Salinger s spiritual focus through the prayer
which Franny reads in the little green book. The book is first seen when Franny
explains to Lane that this specific prayer is where you repeat the same phrase Lord
Jesus Christ have mercy on me over and over until it becomes part of you. Franny
also explains that she likes this prayer because it helps purify her mind and it
becomes almost like a heart beat. When Zooey helps Franny though her breakdown
he says to her, You can say the Jesus Prayer from

Midsummer Night s Dream Mistakes
A horrible disaster caused by a magic flower, people confused with love around
every corner, and a man with the head of a donkey all occurring in one night.
Needless to say, mistakes were made in William Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night
s Dream. This whimsical story follows a large cast of characters who are almost all
struggling with loveone way or another. Throughout the night, order slowly begins
to collapse. Most of this disorder comes from Oberon, the king of fairies, who doesn
t understand the importance of love. Oberon s wife, Titania, has a child he wants,
which leads him to messing with magic and love in order to get his way. We can see
these actions throughout the story. Such actions are evident first, when he is arguing
with Titania,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He gives his servant, Puck, a very undescriptive description of Demetrius. Not only
was this not very smart of Oberon, but it was also dangerous. Due to the bad
description Oberon gave of Demetrius, Puck ended up putting the flower juice on
the wrong guy (Lysander). What hast thou done? Thou hast mistaken quite and laid
the love juice on some true love s sight: Of thy misprision must perforce ensue
Some true love turn d and not a false turn d true (3.2.89 93). In order to fix this,
Oberon puts flower juice on Demetrius causing both Lysander and Demetrius to fall
in love with Helena. This causes them to decide to duel and see who gets to marry
Helena. If Oberon had not acted in time, Demetrius and Lysander could have
actually had a duel resulting in death. The laziness Oberon showed toward making
a full proof plan is a perfect example of his neglect toward showing care to love.
The last time we see Oberon messing with love is at the end of the book when he is
going through with his original plan of taking the baby away from Titania while
she is blinded by love. Oberon is only willing to get Titania out of her trance after
she has given him the child. After he has gotten his way, he pretends like all is well
and everything worked out. Oberon lucked out despite his ignorance. Nobody was
seriously hurt or killed, but he did abuse people and love itself in order to get his

  • 2. Essay on Edgar Allan Poe Edgar Allan Poe Ralph Waldo Emerson called him the jingle man, Mark Twain said that his prose was unreadable, and Henry James felt that a taste for his work was the mark of a second rate sensibility. According to T. S. Eliot, quot;the forms which his lively curiosity takes are those in which a preadolescent mentality delights. quot; After notices like those, most reputations would be sunk without a trace, and yet Edgar Allan Poe shows no sign whatsoever of loosening his extraordinary hold on our imaginations. In 1959, Richard Wilbur, an elegant poet and a critic of refined taste, inaugurated the Dell Laurel Poetry Series (mass market paperback selections from classic British and American poets) with an ... In 1815, business reasons led Allan to move to England for what would be a five year stay. Both in London and then in Richmond after the family s return, Poe was well educated in private academies. In 1825, he became secretly engaged to a girl named Elmira Royster. The engagement, opposed by both families, was subsequently broken off. In 1826, Poe entered the University of Virginia, newly founded by former President Thomas Jefferson. He distinguished himself as a student, but he also took to drinking, and he amassed gambling debts of $2,000, a significant amount of money at the time, which John Allan, although he had recently inherited a fortune, refused to honor. After quarreling with Allan, Poe left Richmond in March 1827 and sailed to Boston, where, in relatively short order, he enlisted in the United States Army (under the name Edgar A. Perry, and claiming to be four years older than his actual age of eighteen) and published a pamphlet called Tamerlane and Other Poems, whose author was cited on the title page only as quot;a Bostonian. quot; This little book did not sell at all, but its few surviving copies are among the most highly prized items in the rare book market; one accidentally discovered copy, bought for a dollar, was recently auctioned for $150,000. Poe s military career went more successfully. After two years, he had been promoted to sergeant major, the highest
  • 3. Operant Conditioning Analysis When I was young, I was very afraid of deep or large bodies of water. I would scream and thrash and refuse to go into the water deeper than my knees. While occasionally I still become nervous, I now have mostly overcome this fear. After analyzing this fear through classical conditioning, operant conditioning, and social cognitive learning, I have come up with a few explanations for the origin, and alteration, of this behavior. I first tried to explain my behavior by learning about classical conditioning. Classical conditioning is where a behavior is learned during a period called acquisition. There are four stages, or parts, of acquisition. The unconditioned stimulus (UCS), is when a stimulus is presented that elicits an instinctive response that has not been learned. The unconditioned response (UCR), which directly relates to the UCS, being the response elicited by the UCS. Then comes the conditioned stimulus (CS), which is a... Reinforcement is where a behavior is strengthened by the stimulus that follows. Punishment is where a behavior is decreased or weakened by the stimulus that follows. And then the type of stimulus that followed is classified by being positive or negative. Positive is where something is added or presented to the situation. Negative is where something is taken away or removed from the situation. These types of stimuluses, and types of consequences, can be combined into four types of operant conditioning. Positive reinforcement, where something is added to strengthen a behavior. Negative reinforcement, where something is taken away to strengthen a behavior. Positive punishment, where something is added to weaken a behavior. And negative punishment, where something is taken away to weaken behavior (Passer,

There are several companies that offer integration to their customers such as SAP which is the leader in ERP solutions, Oracle which came to the industry after acquiring PeopleSoft back in 2005, Microsoft, and IBM. Reading the materials throughout this semester was interesting as it gave me an inside view of system integration and it made me think of the architecture of how companies integrate their system or the high level thought of how things are done when big companies acquire other companies. Researching all these four big companies, I found that Oracle had a lot of products that integrate systems and it seems they have a solution for a lot of major industry with pre defined modules that help jump start the integration process. Everyone knows oracle as it s a global computer technology company. The company primary specializes in developing and marketing computer hardware systems. The company also builds and develops databases and database products. , middle tier software, resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management and supply chain management software. The black smoke, and sometimes invisible pollutants, are causing harm all over the earth without people realizing it. Car pollution can cause disruption to human s health, the environment, and the cities in just a matter of time and in many different ways. The air pollutionfrom cars contains various components that all can factor into harming humans health. According to The Environmental Protection Agency s actions, they took away a key part of the pollution from gasoline:lead. This is a dangerous component of gas because it affects parts of the body such as organs, the brain, and the nervous system. Children gain the worst effects from the lead but everyone can gain bad side effects and problems from a simple part of pollution going into the air (Cars, Trucks, Buses, and Nonroad). Lead is a very harsh component of gas and is definitely a part of pollution that you do not want to expose kids to because of the even more dangerous effects it has on them compared to adults. Along with the elimination of lead, Baines states that Diesel engines power most large vehicles like buses and trucks. They are also becoming more popular in cars. They use less fuel, but if they are not tuned properly, they can create a lot of black smoke and soot. It is suspected that this can cause cancer in some people (Baines 22). If

Now as single mothers they are unable to escape the debilitating effects of impoverishment which is shown through Ann Duffy and Nancy Mandell s article. This article articulates that a women s income drops by 20 to 40 percent as single motherbecause they do not have a male as a breadwinner for the family(Duffy and Mandell, 253). Females are more likely to experience this situation because if they do go into the work workforce they are payed less than men. It is also allowing for one or both to have a normal, long life. Separation can guarantee survival for at least one twin which seems to be the most beneficent. One ethical principle relating to the issue is beneficence. Beneficence means to do what is good. Society, through such means as literature, popular culture, and tradition, has perpetuated these gender stereotypes and expectations for much of history. Unconscious and conscious assumptions about gendershape how readers perceive sex in literature; men are typically considered lustful, whereas women are considered loving. He says that the youthful hue / sits on [her] skin like morning dew, but that this fresh beauty will soon fade (Marvell 584; 33 34). The description of this woman supports stereotypes of both genders. The man is lustful, and his tactic is to appeal to the woman s shallow vanity. He appeals to her desire for love by almost offhandedly tacking on how he would like to know her heart (Marvell 583; 18). Additionally, he says that, should they act upon his lustful desires, they would be like amorous birds of prey (Marvell 584; 38). The contradictory image of loving raptors enforces the stereotype of a predatory man spouting any lovely lie to get a woman in his bed. A Red, Red Rose by Robert Burns is not as overtly sexual as To His Coy Mistress. However, Burns was notoriously promiscuous, and his subject matter was often of a sexual nature. It is safe to say that his purpose in this poem was a sexual purpose. He says his luve s like a red, red rose / that s newly sprung in June (Burns 935; 1 2). He also describes his love as a beautiful song being sweetly played in tune (Burns 935; 1 2). He uses this flowery language to appeal to women s stereotypical love for beauty and emotion. He additionally appeals to an overemotional woman by using hyperbolic language to describe his love. He claims that he will love this woman until all the seas dry up and the rocks melt wi the sun

Additionally, providers that do not offer fixed prices are willing to provide reasonable quotes. As a result of these practices, overseas medical centers are able to draw in large numbers of medical tourists who seek out the best value of treatment. Overseas medical facilities are also able to keep prices lower due to the lack of cross subsidies. In the United States, full service nonprofit hospitals may utilize revenues from some treatments as a means to cover costs of providing other procedures to other patients. This cross subsidization process is made possible because some medical procedures produce more revenue than what the actual costs are. For example, the revenue generated from specialty services and or procedures such as heart catheterizations, or diagnostic radiological procedures may be utilized

Anton Chekhov made these stories to represent how Russia was at the time, showing the class structures that they had, and what the different classes did. In the story The Bet , it shows how the higher class was. The higher class would do silly things and things that weren t important with their money. Since they were rich they didn t care what they would spend their money on. In this story, the banker makes a bet with a lawyer, to see if he can resist in prison for fifteen years, and the banker wouldn t win anything out of it, so he didn t care what he wasted his money on. In the story Oh! The Public , it shows how the different classes would treat each other. If you were in the lower class you could do nothing about what the middle and higher class did to you. The higher class treated the lower class with no respect and to the middle class with a little respect. The middle class treated the lower class worse than how the upper class treated the working poor. As you see in this story, the invalid, who was a middle class person, treated Podtyagin, who was the ticket collector, with no respect. All Podtyagin wanted to do was his job, which was collect the passenger s tickets. The invalid made his job hard, because he would just complain and not give Podtyagin his ticket. The
  • 54. Response To Universal Healthcare Honorable Congressman Faso In your response to universal health care you got one thing right and one partially correct. On the right one is I do disagree with you on having universal health care the other was it would raise taxes this is where your not forthcoming, yes it would raise taxes but most if not all would be offset by not having to pay for health care. Imagine if you can, someone with preexisting conditions not having to pay for health care? That person could lead a productive life that would benefit everyone including the government by paying more in taxes again offsetting the cost of universal health care. Looked into your example of England s health care problem, wish you had given a reference because I couldn t find anything
  • 55. J.D. Salinger s Franny and Zooey Essay J.D. Salinger s Franny and Zooey Works Cited Missing In the novel Franny and Zooey, J.D. Salinger uses the Glass family to deliver his beliefs on religion and society during this time. One way in which he does this is by delivering the novel into two short stories. One deals with Franny, a young female who is at a crossroad with her beliefs, and the other deals with her brother Zooey who tries to help his sister through her difficulties. Once this book was published in 1961, it was an instant hit and made its way to the best seller list. Over the years there were many critical essays written discussing Salinger s intended purpose for this novel. In A Prefacefor Franny and Zooey John P. McIntyre explores whether Salinger s main ... In Salinger s work, the two estates the world and the cutely sensitive young never really touch at all...Zooey and Franny and Buddy (like Seymour before them) know that the great mass of prosperous spirituals savages in our society will never understand them (McIntyre 2). What is seems McIntyre is trying to say is that these characters ideas about religion and society don t mix at all. They are two totally different entitles, and if they were to mix, then it would ruin the whole purpose of the novel itself. If these two did mix then the lessons learned through the novel would be lost. Franny along with the reader learn that it s important to honor others even if they are hard to deal with for example like the feelings that Franny has towards her college professors. Also that this separations shows that the story is about love just as much as religion and spirituality. The next example demonstrating Salinger s spiritual focus through the prayer which Franny reads in the little green book. The book is first seen when Franny explains to Lane that this specific prayer is where you repeat the same phrase Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on me over and over until it becomes part of you. Franny also explains that she likes this prayer because it helps purify her mind and it becomes almost like a heart beat. When Zooey helps Franny though her breakdown he says to her, You can say the Jesus Prayer from

  • 57. Midsummer Night s Dream Mistakes A horrible disaster caused by a magic flower, people confused with love around every corner, and a man with the head of a donkey all occurring in one night. Needless to say, mistakes were made in William Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream. This whimsical story follows a large cast of characters who are almost all struggling with loveone way or another. Throughout the night, order slowly begins to collapse. Most of this disorder comes from Oberon, the king of fairies, who doesn t understand the importance of love. Oberon s wife, Titania, has a child he wants, which leads him to messing with magic and love in order to get his way. We can see these actions throughout the story. Such actions are evident first, when he is arguing with Titania,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He gives his servant, Puck, a very undescriptive description of Demetrius. Not only was this not very smart of Oberon, but it was also dangerous. Due to the bad description Oberon gave of Demetrius, Puck ended up putting the flower juice on the wrong guy (Lysander). What hast thou done? Thou hast mistaken quite and laid the love juice on some true love s sight: Of thy misprision must perforce ensue Some true love turn d and not a false turn d true (3.2.89 93). In order to fix this, Oberon puts flower juice on Demetrius causing both Lysander and Demetrius to fall in love with Helena. This causes them to decide to duel and see who gets to marry Helena. If Oberon had not acted in time, Demetrius and Lysander could have actually had a duel resulting in death. The laziness Oberon showed toward making a full proof plan is a perfect example of his neglect toward showing care to love. The last time we see Oberon messing with love is at the end of the book when he is going through with his original plan of taking the baby away from Titania while she is blinded by love. Oberon is only willing to get Titania out of her trance after she has given him the child. After he has gotten his way, he pretends like all is well and everything worked out. Oberon lucked out despite his ignorance. Nobody was seriously hurt or killed, but he did abuse people and love itself in order to get his
