Outline For An Analytical Essay
Writing an essay on the topic "Outline for an Analytical Essay" can be both challenging and
rewarding. The difficulty lies in the need for a deep understanding of the subject matter and the
ability to critically analyze information. Crafting a well-organized outline requires careful
consideration of the key components that make up a strong analytical essay.
Firstly, one must grasp the intricacies of analytical writing, which involves breaking down a
complex topic into its constituent parts and examining how they interrelate. This demands a high
level of critical thinking and the ability to draw connections between different elements.
Additionally, it necessitates a thorough comprehension of the subject matter to identify relevant
themes, patterns, or arguments.
The challenge intensifies when creating the actual outline, as it requires a strategic arrangement
of ideas and evidence. Ensuring a logical flow and coherence between sections is crucial, and
each point in the outline should contribute to the overarching thesis. Crafting a strong thesis
statement that encapsulates the analytical focus adds another layer of complexity.
Moreover, the essay's outline should consider the balance between analysis and supporting
evidence. Striking the right equilibrium ensures that the essay is not merely a collection of
observations but a cohesive argument backed by sound reasoning. This requires careful selection
and integration of evidence to substantiate claims and enhance the overall persuasiveness of the
essay.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic "Outline for an Analytical Essay" is a formidable
task that demands a combination of analytical skills, critical thinking, and a comprehensive
understanding of the subject matter. Despite its challenges, successfully navigating through this
process can result in a well-crafted essay that effectively communicates the intended analysis.

Immunization Pros And Cons
Many parents believe that the MMR vaccine is the cause for the so called Autistic
Epidemic. According to the Scientific American, Across a mere 10 year period 1993
to 2003 statistics from the U.S. Department of Education revealed a 657 percent
increase in the nationwide rate of autism. (Arkowitz and Lilienfeld) Parents often
worry that a mercury based chemical called thimerosal causes very serious side
effects including autism. Mercury, especially the methylmercury found in fish, can be
toxic at high doses. Although the ethylmercury, found in thimerosal, contains a
different chemical compound making it much easier to excrete and would need to
be taken in ludicrous doses in order to experience any severe side effects. Likewise,

Parents need to protect their children from diseases that might be fatal. Health care
providers strive to rid everyone from disease and hope that they can cure as many
people as possible. Together, everyone can become more informed about how to
protect themselves and their loved ones. The healthcare providers need to prepare
themselves to answer patients in a reasonable fashion when worried parents come in
asking for advice. Parents need to consider the scientific evidence rather than
emotional experiences when deciding whether or not to vaccinate their child. If they
want their child to have a strong immune system, have little to no risk at getting
seriously sick, and help prevent illnesses from spreading then they need to get their
children immunized. The government can help prevent people from getting ill by
funding projects that will help others innovate safer vaccinations. Throughout history,
vaccinations have saved countless lives and saved children from becoming
permanently disabled, we need to support immunizations to protect the future

The Ministry Of Catholic Educations
The Ministry of Catholic Educations says that youth ministry is a response to the
mission entrusted by Christ. God told his disciples in Matthew chapter twenty eight
verse nineteen Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the
father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit. And youthministryis one of the many
ways the Catholic Church is doing this.
As stated in the Occupational Outlook Handbook, recreational workers create
programs that can be altered to specific age groups. Being a youth minister you
encounter many different things. Like recreational workers, youth minister put
together programs for both middle school and high school. The Arch Dioceses send
a lesson plan of what the students should know by the end of the year. The youth
ministers will then branch together similar topics and make that the main focus for
the night. The themes revolve around the four pillars of the Catholic Church.
According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church these four pillars are faith,
liturgy and sacraments, morality of our life and prayer. This program is a fun an
interesting way to bring these teenagers to Christ. A typical night starts with snacks
and games to start building a community and then officially starts with a prayer. One
of the reasons we pray is to calculate disengagement which is transitioning the
students into a more prayerful mode for the rest of the night. After prayer we go into
a talk prepared by the minister and sometimes having a

Analysis Of Last Days
During Socrates last days, he speaks with Cebes about the fate of the soul. Cebes
is unconvinced that the soul doesn t die concurrently with the body, which leads
him to create an alternative analogy. Cebes imperfect analogy compares the body
and soul to a cloak and a weaver, respectively. A cloak can be worn over and over
again, which represents multiple human lives in a body. The weaver, however,
outlasts each cloak until the last cloak dies. Cebes argues that because the weaver no
long has a cloak to wear, he will die. This means that although the soulmay preexist
and outlive a body, it too will eventually die. Therefore, if Cebes analogy turns out to
be more accurate and correct, then the soul is not immortal. Socrates, on the other
hand, believes that the soul is immortal and looks to Forms to prove the soul s
immortality. He provides a safe answer that helps the reader understand not only his
argument, but Platos argument and view of philosophy as well.
In order to respond to Cebes argument, Socrates discusses causes. As a young man,
Socrates was interested in physical science. However, he grew uninterested in
physical science because he believed the inquiry into nature and science blinded
him from certain ideas that he found paradoxical. For example, he was dissatisfied
by the idea that two can be achieved in multiple ways: adding together two items or
dividing a single item into two parts (97a b). He believed there should be a consistent

Essay about Democratic Republic of Congo Holocaust
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Holocaust was the bloodiest war
fought. This was due to the death toll, possibly larger than that of the Holocaust.
Between 1998 and 2007, there were a total of 5.4 million people dead. The number
of those deaths has definitely gone up over the years (Heaton 1). Genocide is very
vital because of the people being slaughtered and giving their lives away in order
to support their political stance. Everyone, whether it is through war or poverty,
suffers from this immense tragedy. I was interested in the topic due to the little bit
of research I did. Through the research, I found out it was still going on today. I
was taken aback by the fact this has been going on for so long and there is so little

The deaths in this war are terrifyingly close to those in the Holocaust (Heaton 1).
The massive death toll would include that of the Rwanda Holocaust and the Congo
Holocaust. These deaths include murder, suicides, starvation, poverty, and disease.
The political aspect of this situation is the government killing off rebels and
targeting specific groups such as Hutu s, Tutsi s, and the DRC. They target people
to rile up a dispute, start the war, and gain allies (World without Genocide 2). Many
people are dying whether due to poverty, indirectly, or political stance, directly. The
people suffering from the poverty aspect are getting the effects of the mass murders
and the country s political instability. Genocide describes the heinous act of killing
others in order to prove the point. In this case, Rwanda s government is targeting
specific people. The Congo War, a massive destruction to their country, is genocide.
One reason it is, in fact, genocide is due to the amount of murders occurring. But so
far the brutal war in eastern Congo has not only lasted longer than the Holocaust but
also appears to have claimed more lives [than the Holocaust], (Kristof 1). This shows
that although unpopular and unknown to most, the Congo War devastates further
than what it seems like at first. The everyday struggle people go through to stay alive
is relative, bloodier, and more
Artificial Intelligence and the Modern Military

Mister November 26, 2011 Purpose: In today s military, leaders are continuously
seeking ways to incorporate new technology to take the place of human soldiers. It
has long been an important goal to be able to remove the human element from the
modern battlefield, thus enabling high risk or sensitive political operations to be
conducted without the fear of capture or exploitation of US military personnel. One
such incident occurred during the Cold War, on May 1, 1960, during the presidency

Currently the key areas the Army is looking to artificial intelligence are chemical
biological detection, counter explosive hazards, security, interdiction attack, and
long range strike capabilities (US Army, 2010). Deployed soldiers have dozens of
pounds of batteries, ammo, communications equipment and other Items such as
food and water they have to carry on their backs, on top of heavy body armor,
encumbering solders with up to 100lbs of additional weight. While this large
amount of technology, is useful in combat, it can greatly fatigue solders prior to
engagements and can render soldiers severely limited or even ineffective during
sustained engagements with the enemy (Knapik, 1989). It is this reason that the
U.S. Army is experimenting with a variety of remotely controlled and even
wearable machines to lighten this load. Some are deeply quirky, designed to
resemble a headless dog. The spooky Big Dog quadruped robot, which is being
developed by robotics company Boston Dynamics, has some of the most advanced
artificial intelligence and navigation systems in the planet. In fact, US Army
officials are stunned by its programmed behaviors, which make Big Dog extremely
helpful in the battlefield. Big Dog can run along soldiers, walk slowly, or lay down to
be loaded or unloaded with up to 400 lbs of gear, equivalent to one full squads (6

Achilles Vs Perpetua Quotes
Achilles or Perpetua: Who is the more heroic? Greek tГ®mГЄ means, in a literal
meaning, worth or value. It was a socially constructed value that measured a person
s value to their society. Namely that an individual s sense of honor was only valid if
others within their community perceived them to be honorable. Honor could be
achieved such as military, social, or political or ascribed, in the sense that a person
was honorable because of their reputation. In the same ways, a person could just as
easily be dishonorable or shamed. Furthermore, the most crucial tenets of honor in
antiquity would be whether a person has died with or without honor. Based on this
concept, Achillesis irrefutably more heroic than Perpetua. Under the persecutions
during the Severan Dynasty Perpetua, a twenty two year old new mother, was killed
for her Christian beliefs. Although in today s definition of heroism (perhaps
selflessness) we might answer this question differently, however if we are to examine
these characters and their actions within... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her own father pleads her to set aside her pride, lay aside your courage, and do not
bring us all to destruction; for none of us will speak in freedom if you should suffer

her cause to dishonor herself further while oppositely, we see Achilles who refuses
to be dishonored and eventually dies honorably. Although Perpetua was valiant in
her own cause, because she was disliked and unapproved by her community, and
therefore dishonored, she cannot be deemed a hero. This is true because only an
honorable one can be a hero based as in agreement with the philosophies of ancient

Summary and Analysis of Zsidisin amp;Hartley s (2012) Managing Commodity Price
Risk
Summary As every organization and business in the market is exposed to price risks
due to the commodity price volatility, it s imperative for managers to predict those
risks and make strategies to mitigate the damages brought by price volatility. This
book not only shows us the importance of commodity price management, but also
teaches organizations how to adapt and adjust themselves to commodity price
volatility and provides approaches to decrease the exposure to risks for managers.
Therefore, this book is a necessary one to manage commodity price risk for managers
and organizations.

Then managers can use regression to forecast prices. With judgment and updating
information, supply chain managers can make the final forecasts.
Any company by itself could not control the prices of its productions, so even great
managers cannot influence the prices directly. However, understanding their
productions price risk exposure and finding ways to manage the risk are pivotal to
make appropriate commodity price volatility management strategy. Of course,
modification for managing foreign exchange risk is important to supply chain
mangers of international companies as well. Mainly, there are several strategies that
are outlined to manage commodity price risk in this book.
In the process of managing price risk, the very first approach is to find substitute
productions when price increases. Passing or sharing the risk with customers and
suppliers is another way to alleviate those attacks for a company. The collaboration
with supply chain partners becomes very important in this strategy. Considering the
capability and necessity of buying materials in advance, a forward buying could be
an alternative to manage the price risk for a company. But in this method, lacking
financial or other resources to hold a large stock will restrict a company s
profitability. Under such a condition, this book recommends to use the hedging
strategy. For the commodity with future contracts, hedging uses a financial
instrument to reduce the risk.
The Chicano Subculture Essay
I m not Mexican. I am not American. I am not American in USA and Mexican in
Mexico. I am Chicano everywhere. I do not have to assimilate anything. I have my
own history , stated the writer and novelist Carlos Fuentes. The Chicano subculture is
the mixture of the Mexican and the American cultures. This subculture has its own
history and unique characterizations that make it stand out. According to the Merriam
Webster dictonary the word subculture is defined as a group that has beliefs and
behaviors that are different from the main groups within a culture or society . The
Chicanosubculture has a history, language, leaders, art, literature, and even their
music, and it s the perfect example for this definition of the word subculture.... Show

2). Cesar fought and became known for founding the National Farm Workers
Association. He promoted the American labor movement whose purpose was to
protest against the unfair farm labor treatment workers were receiving. Chavez
accomplished something that seemed almost impossible for thousands who worked
in the lands without using violence as a tool but rather unity (Koo Byoung par. 7).
As for the way of life for Chicanos, they have created their own standards, customs,
music, and even language. As for their standards and customs, they are a mix of
American culture and the Mexican culture. An example of this fusion can be the
famous game London Bridge which is also played by Chicanos called VГbora de la
Mar but in a completely different language and name. Chicano musicians like Lalo
Guerrero composed music that attracted all ages and likes. He wrote songs like
Pancho Claus , There s No Tortillas , Tacos for Two and Ardillitas songs that talked
about the Chicano culture and incorporated the Chicano language, Spanglish.
Spanglish is basically attempts to add the Spanish language to an English word or
vice versa. Words like Troka which means truck, Parkear which means park, Mopear
which means mop, Puchale which means push or press. As we can see, the Chicano
subculture has their own style and can t be either Mexican or American. In
conclusion, the Chicano subculture has a profound history and is distinct in itself

1.Financial Markets and Banks
1.1Roles of the Financial Markets
In Financial Intermediation, the main functions of the financial markets are
summarized as monitoring, signaling, smoothing, providing liquidity, and improving
capital allocation. In A Conceptual Framework for Analyzing the Financial
Environment, the roles of the financial system consist of the following 6 basic
functions:
(1)Clearing and Settling Payments: The financial markets allow for the exchange of
payments for goods and services.
(2)Pooling Resources and Subdividing Shares: The financial markets allow firms to

investing in various ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Banks use on demand retail deposits and other short term wholesale funding to
finance longer term loans and offer liquid asset to savers.
(2)Liquidity Transformation
Liquidity provision is essential to financial intermediation. In Financial
Intermediaries and Liquidity Creation, the key insight is that bank debts need to be
information insensitive and thus provide liquidity. Most banks are required to hold
only a portion of their bank deposits as cash available for immediate withdrawals.
Therefore, the assets of a bank are less liquid than its liabilities.
(3)Credit Transformation
Credit transformation involves the arbitrage of a bank s credit risk by making loans
and investing in securities with a lower credit standing and higher yield than the bank
s financing instruments.
Banks also facilitate the clearing and settling of payments and help overcome
asymmetrical information.
2.Wholesale Funding
2.1Repurchase Agreement (Repo)
How it functions:
A repo is selling a security with a promise to redeem it in the future. In substance, a
repo is a collateralized loan.
For bilateral repo, borrower and lender transact directly with one another. In a
bilateral repo, the borrower sells a security to the lender on the understanding that the
borrower will repurchase the security on the following day at a premium, which is
implicitly an interest payment to the lender for the use of its funds.

Types Of Natural Disasters
Review of Literature
I.Types of Natural Disasters
On Earth, there are numerous types of natural disasters such as tsunami s,
earthquakes, thunderstorms, tornadoes, etc. Some occur more than other natural
disasters, while others cause more destruction than others. Natural disasters form
because of the shifting of earth, the weather, and floods and mudslides.
A.. Most Common Natural Disasters There are some natural disasters that occur more
than others. Some examples of most common natural disasters are Hurricanes and
Thunderstorms. Even though these disasters are more common than others, they can
cause more damage.
Hurricanes
Hurricanes are a storm of the most intense severity (dictionary.com). Hurricanes
develop when seawater comes above 80 degrees Fahrenheit (27 degrees celsius).
Their winds can increase up to 73 mph (miles per hour). In order for a hurricane to be
sustained, they need heat and moisture. Over the years, there has been hurricanes that
were more powerful than others such as Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Tip. Hurricane
Irma struck the northeast caribbean, with wind speeds up to 185mph (miles per hour).
Hurricane Tip, currently the most dynamic hurricane on record, struck in Guam in
1970, with winds up to 190 mph (miles per hour).
2. Thunderstorms
Thunderstorms are a storm, which can include hail, storm, lighting etc.Thunderstorms
are caused when moist, warm air rises from the earth s surface. The moist, warm air
cools as it rises and condenses to
Analysis Of The Film My Neighbor Totoro
How Miyazaki persuades his audience to accept his idea on a new relationship
between humanity and nature has not been fully explored and appreciated. The
social impact and the religious elements of My Neighbor Totoro made it one of the
most important films establishing Hayao Miyazaki s name and reputation in the
film industry, both in Japan and worldwide. What makes this film famous and
powerful is not only the magical, mysterious world or the adorable character that
Miyazaki creates, but also the film s persuasive way of delivering an unusual
message on the three layered relationship between humans and nature. How
Miyazaki makes his audience feel connected with the characters starts with a
comparison between Miyazaki s early childhood and the story of the film.
Miyazaki uses his childhood memories and his careful observation of others to
create a realistic and believable world. Then, with a selected scene of the girls
meeting Susuwatari, a black creature in the old empty house, I want to illustrate
that Miyazaki s use of a familiar fear from many people s childhood introduces the
audience to a magical and unknown world, but also makes the audience feel the
world is familiar and acceptable. The sacredness of nature is presented through a
comparison between Japanese religions and ritual practices and the symbols in the
film. This section focuses first on the analysis of selected scenes that depict the
sacred qualities of nature: Susuwatari s flight to the moon after the
Socialization
Socialization in a Social Institution
socialization in a social institution can change a person self concept and the way
they socialize because of the environment and the people to interact with on a daily
basis. Being in a social institution like a prison for example would change the way a
person socializes because of the setting the person is in. The way things are done in
a social institution would change their self concept so they could fit in to that
specific social institution. When someone is first introduced into a new social
institution they have to learn how to adapt. This is where the generalized other
comes in. If we can figure out thee generalized other things become a lot easier. In the

This also happens because we feel more comfortable around certain people. we
tend to socialize differently depending on who we are with and that is because of
our primary and secondary groups.when you are put into a social institution you ll
be forced to socialize a lot but not all of that socialization will be with a primary
group of people that you feel comfortable with. School is a good example of this
because in class you may need to do group work or something where you were
communicating with other people but you don t know them on a personal level
and they would be considered your secondary group because there is no emotional
connection with these people you are just working together to achieve a goal. Then
there s your friends who you hang out with I know on a personal and emotional
level so they would be considered your primary group. This happens in any social
institution because we find people was similar interests that we may go to for
emotional support. in the movie Shawshank redemption the character Red played by
Morgan Freeman was apart of Andy s primary group and I would even consider Red
his significant other because of the way him in and he interacted. socialization in a
social institution can change a person self concept and the way they socialize because

Reflection Of Leadership And Leadership In The Honors
College
Throughout this semester, I learned so much and gained so much confidence in
my ability to lead. I had never led through the Honors College before this semester
nor had I ever felt so involved and included within the Honors College. Being an
Honors Year One mentor has allowed me to grow in ways that I would have never
grown if it was not for this experience. Through my experience, I have made friends,
realized what all the Honors College has to offer and connect freshmen with others. I
learned how I lead best, how to not always be the leader, what my strengths are and
how to use them to their full potential, and what needs to happen differently next
semester in hopes to improve the experience for the freshmen.
I thought our mentor class was absolutely phenomenal. Tiffany continuously led us
well and reigned us in well when we needed to get down to business. Her leadership,
council, and example made a difference for me when leading my freshmen. She
was also very encouraging, which was much needed. At the beginning, I was
intimidated by Rebecca being in our class each week. However, the intimidation
faded, and I quickly learned to appreciate her. She had many great suggestions as
well as a great insight. I may be an extrovert, but on the first day of our mentor
class, I was very intimidated and nervous. I had no earthly idea what to expect.
However, as it is now the end of the semester, I am honestly sad the class had to
come to an end. I learned so much from the other
Conflict Management Styles In Mean Girls
Like Stephen R. Covey once said, most people do not listen with the intent to
understand; they listen with the intent to reply (Stephen Covey). Most people do not
try to see things in the point pf view of others, they like to jump to conclusion.
Conflict is an interaction between interdependent people who perceive that they have
contradictory goals or scare resources. The more important the relationship is, the
more important the conflictis.
The movie mean girls is about a sixteen year old homeschooled girl named Cady
Heron who lived in Africa for the last 12 years of her life. After 12 years she
returns to the United States and is now going to High school. Attending public
school for the first time in her life. The homeschooled girl entered girl world that is
full of lies, drama, gossip, boys and rules. She started hanging out with the Plastics
and become friends with. The movie showed many example of conflict management
styles, it reflects on the American culture values and beliefs, and power style.
The movie Mean Girls is all about conflict whether it was with the outside groups
or each other. Conflict management is the way we engage in conflict and address
disagreements. The movie mean girls , every character showed many conflict
management styles. Two character who used many conflict management styles in
the movie were Cady and Regina. Cady used the Avoidance style. The avoidance is
deliberate decision to take no action when dealing with conflict. Avoidance conflict
style is Basically being avoiding the conflict all together. Examples of when Cady
used the avoidance style is when she eats her lunch in the bathroom because she

Tragedy In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
Of Mice and Men is a tragedy novella based on the nature of human existence, and
the falseness of the American dream. Two migrants, George and Lennie, get off a
bus miles away from the California farm where they are going to start work.
George is a small, dark man with sharp, strong features. Lennie, his companion, is
quite his opposite, a giant of a man with a shapeless face. Overcome with thirst,
they stop in a clearing beside a river and decide to camp for the night. As they talk,
it becomes clear that Lennie has a mental disability, and is devoted to George and
dependent on him for protection and guidance. George finds that Lennie, who loves
petting soft things, has been carrying and stroking a dead mouse. George takes the
dead mouse away from Lennie and reminds him of the trouble Lennie got into in the
last town they were in he touched a girl s soft dress without her permission. George
then reminds Lennie not to speak to anyone in the morning when they get to the
ranch and warns Lennie to return to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

George, is so overcome with remorse that he cannot scold Lennie but must save him

India, being one of the world s nations that focuses on climate change and control,

In this experiment it was found that the higher the salt concentration in a solution, the
lower the mass of the Beetroot. As water travels out of the extracellular environment
by Osmosis, the Cell began to dehydrate and signs of cell Lysis occurred. Though
Colorimeter reading results were recorded, they did not align with the mass of the
Beetroot data and were classified inaccurate. Reviewing the results there was no
consistent trend in the data (eg. as the salt content increased by 1% the mass loss
decreased by 0.5g). It could only be stated that as the salt concentration was increased
the mass of the Beetroot decreased. This experiment is related to the Salinity issues
currently occurring in Australia. It has been established that the rising levels of salt
in soil affects a number of things like; Agricultural production, Water quality,
Ecological health of streams, Terrestrial biodiversity, Soil erosion, Flood risk,
Infrastructure and fixtures, irrigation. https://www.qld.gov.au/environment/land/soil

If the effects of salinity continue, crops would not be able to grow therefore farmers
would not be making an income and the fresh healthy Fruits and Vegetables that are

More specifically, we sought to use brain activity measurements of ERPs to
reconstruct images. A recent study used functional magnetic resonance imaging
(fMRI) to measure brain activity in visual cortex as a person looked at several hours

predict the pattern of brain activity that would be elicited by any arbitrary movies
(i.e., movies that were not in the initial set used to build the model). We used EEG
data to measure brain activity during stimulus. Then created a system for
preprocessing the data to fine tune the data to recognise image stimulus ERPs.
In the future of this study we will be able to create an intuitive way of image

ever changing pattern of activity is evoked in the brain. The goal of the mind image

Essay On Women In Antigone
The play Antigone by Sophocles perfectly demonstrates the values of a society can
alienate an individual for such thing as gender. Antigone, the protagonist,
demonstrates her strong personality throughout the play as she believes that women
have the right to express their opinions, rather than to listen to the society or to the
man with more power. However, with Antigonebeing a woman, everyone treated her
differently.
Antigone s character proves that women are not born as a second class, and they
have the right to express their beliefs. For example from the play, in the beginning,
Antigone asked her sister, Ismene, to bury her brother together with Antigone.
However, Ismene disagrees with her sister s opinion because Ismene is scared of
Creon since she was portrayed to be the type of girl that will follow the men s lead
in this play. Antigone said, To wreck itself; the worst that can befall/ Is but to die an
honorable death (Sophocles 95 96) and I would not welcome such a fellowship./ Go
thine own way; myself will bury him (Sophocles 69 70). From this, Antigone shows
that she is not afraid of danger or death and she will do whatever she feels is right for
her late brother. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With that being said, because Antigone was born as a woman in that time period,
her actions were not approved by others. Everyone, including her sister Ismene,
believes that Antigone needs to listen and follow Creon s order if she doesn t want
to die. When Antigone asked her sister to bury their dead brother in secret, Ismene
said, Weak women, think of that,/ Not framed by nature to content with men
(Sophocles 60 61). In other words, Ismene believes that women are supposed to be
weak and need protection, rather than to fight against
Diagnosing And Treating Patients Defines The Overall
Goal...
Diagnosing and treating patients defines the overall goal of any hospital. In
providing healthcare to a patient, the first step in handling a concern is a diagnosis.
Delivering the correct diagnosis determines the resulting healthcare needed to treat a
patient. If an error in diagnosis were to occur, improper treatment may be given to
the patient or the correct treatment may be postponed or even withheld.6 Diagnostic
errors occur frequently, can be caused from a variety of reasons, and have adverse
effects on patients, their families, and even the hospitals that they occur at.
What exactly are diagnostic errors? Diagnostic errors are errors that arise from a
delayed, missed, or incorrect diagnosis.4 Diagnostic errors are relevant in all forms
of medicine and are a sign of a lack of patient care. They can occur in any step of
the diagnostic process: evaluation, patient history, physical exams, testing, referral,
and follow up.8 Errors can happen from a multitude of reasons such as
misjudgments, deficiency of knowledge, or lack of technique.3 As well, it is proven
that malpractice claims that relate to diagnostic errors outweigh all alternative forms
of medical mistakes.5 They are the most frequent, the most expensive, and the most
hazardous form of error in reference to patient health. These types of errors are more
liable to cause a patient death than other types of malpractice including surgical errors
or drug overdoses.7 Considering how life threatening a misdiagnosis
The Crucible Scapegoat Analysis
You turn on CNN and begin catching up on the latest news on a recent shooting.
You hear them blaming certain ethnic groups for being behind this tragic shooting.
Although they do not know the person that did it, their first instinct is to place the
blame on them. Throughout history, there have been multiple ways that every
culture has used a type of a scapegoat. Scapegoat: a person who is blamed for the
wrongdoings, mistakes, or faults of others, especially for reasons of expediency.
In Arthur Miller s The Crucible, the use of a scapegoat was the blaming of women
in Salem, Massachusetts for being a witch or worshipping the Devil. In the book,
there were numerous girls accused, a few men, and multiple deaths. There were
thirty three deaths total, one man, Giles Corey. Nineteen were hanged, and thirteen
died while serving time in prison. All of these deaths were the causes of the
scapegoat. They were falsely accused of witchcraft when there was no proof that
they performed these acts. Scapegoats were used because the people of Salem
were terror stricken, in today s society, there are multiple forms of scapegoats:
rape, Middle Eastern people, and WWII that people use due to trepidation. In the
recent Twittersphere, there were article links about how a female accused a male
of raping her. He served time, then years later she came out and proclaimed that it
was a lie. By doing this, it makes her seem ignorant. This case ruined the man s life
and made him waster years of his
Affirmative Action Summary
What is Affirmative Action? Affirmative Action, in this case, is when an educational
institution accepts an individual based on their race, to have diversity within that
educational institution. For example, if the University of Texas at Arlington had a
low ratio of African Americans compared to Caucasians, the university would most
likely accept an African American student over a Caucasian, just to be more diverse
within the campus. The controversy of affirmative actionhas increased. Should
affirmative action be considered in the application process, when applying to an
educational institution?
In the article, Finally Getting it Right on Affirmative Action by Charles
Krauthammer, Krauthammer discusses various facts that lead to the consistent
disagreement: Should universities take race into their admission process, also known
as, Affirmative Action. Krauthammer opens the article by discussing a case in
Michigan, where the Supreme Court banned affirmative action. The state of
Michigan held a referendum from discriminating against individuals based on race on
any citizen. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2003, the University of Michigan law school used affirmative action to admit
students into the school. Doing so, the, Grutter decision attempted to ban affirmative
action. Michigan just recently banned affirmative action, approximately a decade
later, after the, Grutter case; Michigan officially banned affirmative action in 2014.
Krauthammer states, I believe the harm of affirmative action outweighs the good.
Krauthammer believes in the best of both worlds, affirmative action gives university
campus diversity, but at the same time, during the admission process it does not help
minorities, as Krauthammer calls it, Racial

According to the theory, it is hypothesized that the higher the concentration base was
added, the quicker the PH would get up to PH 9. The hypothesis is justified by
chemical reaction occurring in beverages (coke and juice) at different temperatures
which is 10В°C, 20В°C, 30В°C and 40В°C and how it affect their total acid
concentration, because of the Aldehydes and sugars may be oxidized to carboxylic

Comparing Superman, Beowulf, And Sesame Street
Superman, Beowulf, The Kardashian s, and Sesame Street. What do these four have
in common? They have all chosen values for their society. These diverse groups of
people have collectively created an ideal image for society to live by. Superman
stands for justice by defeating a villain and also demonstrates the importance of
masculinity by saving a beautiful women. However, unlike Superman, the Kardashian

pushes the ideas of being involved in school and your community. By implanting a
multitude of dissimilar characteristics and values into a child s life, it may be hard
for them to evaluate their own values. The question is: Is exposure to a massive
array of public figures damaging a child s personal goals and self identity? The
answer is yes. However, not all of those disrupting social values are unfavorable.

teenage girls. Although the hit reality show is meant to show an upper class

They have set a standard for what an ideal women should be, which eventually

Dbq Aztec Agriculture
Food is a big part of everyday life. People need to eat food to survive, because
without food a person will die. In the Aztec civilization there are two cultural
practices that stand out. These are: human sacrifice and agriculture. Many historians
have a mutual disagreement over which one should be emphasized over the other;
which practice deserves more attention. Here are three reasons why agriculture
should be more emphasized than human sacrifice: agriculture was crucial for
everyday living, it was well organized/ cleverly constructed, and it played a huge role
in Aztecculture.
The Aztecs, just like any living being needed food to survive. Agriculture provided
food since it was the practice of farming and became crucial. The Aztec farmers did
not only grow food for themselves, but also enough for their entire cities, like
Tenochtitlan (Doc B). This played a major role in trade and the economy. The
farmers used Chinampas which were small mounds of land that were very fertile (
they are still being used today in Mexico City) to farm. Agriculture did not only help
the Aztec people but also many people that they traded with. Agriculture helped the
Aztecs develop and expand as a civilization/empire. This is why agriculture should be

Postpartum Depression And Breastfeeding Depression
Introduction I believe that mental health is not well discussed, or known, in today s
culture. People could struggle with mental health daily and others could have no idea.
There are many different types of mental health issues, and one specific issue that is
rarely discussed is postpartum depression. Postpartum depression is a specific type of
depression that new mothers can experience after the birth of their child. (Schacter,
Gilbert, Wegner, Nock, 2012). The changing hormones a mother can experience
directly after birth cause this condition. Postpartum depression can cause a mother to
feel sad, guilty, and even experience thoughts of suicide. Postpartum depression may
be discussed in the text, but the causes and even the treatments are not.
The journal article I researched explains the correlation between postpartum
depression and breastfeeding (Borra, Iacovou, Sevilla, 2014). Specifically, if the
intention of breastfeeding, and if the actual action is completed, can affect
postpartum depression. Postpartum depression is a treatable mental health issue, and
researchers are currently trying to prove what the best treatments are and also how to
prevent it. My future research would be seeing the improvement rates between not
going to therapy, group therapy, and cognitive therapy. Then ultimately figuring out
what the best treatment plan would be.
Summary
The study done showed the causal relationship between postpartum depression and
breastfeeding (Borra, Iacovou,

Gregorian Era
In the Middle Ages from 450 AD to 1450,AD nearly a thousand years begin the
birth of Western music and the arts. Unlike the music and arts from other eras the
culture of arts and music was enormously sacred and closed minded where only the
wise could be involved with those. Even the rich and the noble were unable to reach,
but only the wise and educated ones were the only ones to pursue. Therefore, most
musicduring the medieval was in voice; although instruments were present, they were
unpopular and considered to be the evil. Most of the songs that were created were the

Deforestation And The Sub Saharan Regions Of The
African...
Engulfing the Congo and the Sub Saharan regions of the African peninsula, a new
threat has emerged; lying below the mucky surface of a deforested plain, a killer has
taken root. At risk is half of the world s population who reside in the 106 countries
and territories that are prone to plasmodium falciparum transmission. Who is this
killer? Anophelesgambiae complex, which has devastated the African region acting as
a vector for the parasite plasmodium falciparum, more commonly referred to as
malaria. Why has a parasite that is responsible for approximately half of all recorded
deaths relatively unheard of in Western civilization? The answer lies with the
deforestation and non sustainable practices that plague the African union.... Show

Annually, 200 million malaria cases are contracted and of these, 90% occur in Sub
Saharan Africa. Approximately one million people die annually, making plasmodium
falciparum the most deadly parasitic disease. Contraction of plasmodium falciparum
begins when a female Anopheles mosquito injects sporozoites, an early form of
plasmodium falciparum, into the host. This sporozite is then transported to the
human liver where it undergoes asexual reproduction producing merozoites. The
merozoites invade other liver cells and enter the host s bloodstream, where they
invade erythrocyte. After the infection of the erythrocyte, the merozoite is
transformed into a trophozoite, which then begins asexual reproduction near the
nucleus to form a schizont in the erythrocytic cell. The schizont then asexually
reproduces to produce mononucleated merozoites. When the erythrocytic cell
ruptures due to the 3,000 4,000 merozoites produced, symptoms of fever and chills
are induced within the host. This life cycle is extremely damaging to children;
persons under the age of 5 account for 86% of malaria fatalities. Malaria has other
characteristic effects, such as yellowing of the skin/eyes (jaundice), sweating,
vomiting, weakness, and nausea. Current mortality rates in Africa are 9.33% per
1000 children, which represent 28.2% of all fatalities for those under five. The story
changes dramatically as the host

Abstract
In January 2007 the UK adopted the globally successful real estate investment trust
(REIT) regime, allowing real estate firms to adopt the REIT status with the benefit of
immediate exemption from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, I expect that REITs use relatively less debt for financing, because of the
relatively higher cost of debt.
Already in 1958, Modigliani and Miller have pointed the discussion of capital
structure towards the cost of debt and equity. According to their first proposition, in
a world of no corporate taxes and with perfect markets, financial leverage has no
effect on a firm s value. In their second proposition, they state that the cost of equity
equals a linear function defined by the required return on assets and the cost of debt
(Modigliani and Miller, 1958).
As negative aspects of debt, e.g. personal tax loss and bankruptcy costs however do
exist in reality, Miller (1977) elaborates that leverage will either have no or a
negative effect on the firm s value, hence untaxed firms should favor equity.
Nevertheless, firms have used leverage even before corporate taxes have been
introduced (Maris and Elayan, 1990). This implies the existence of some market
imperfections, which benefit the use of debt financing, thus enable a trade off of the
cost and benefits of debt resulting in an optimal capital structure, where marginal cost
equal marginal benefits.
In general, the majority of existing research is set up by taking the security issuance
choice as the dependent variable and then tests empirically for determinants based on
data from one type of companies. It needs to be taken into consideration that security

Environmental Effects Of Coral Bleaching
Coral reefs are diverse and extensive underwater ecosystems that provide habitats for
around one quarter of the oceans species, an astoundingly high number considering
they make up less than two percent of the ocean floor. These reefs are held together
by calcium carbonate, and the corals themselves are living creatures with protective
skeletons. However, these so called rainforests of the sea are in danger. Coral
bleaching, an event in which a general increase in water temperatures leads to a
reduction in the microscopic algae acting as a basis for the corals diet, is leading to
the fragmentation of once vast and stable coral reefsystems. Reef bleaching mainly
occurs due to increases in carbon dioxidelevels, which facilitate rising water
temperatures and dangerous amounts of ocean acidification, otherwise known as
pH. As copious amounts of carbon dioxide are absorbed by the ocean, CO2 reacts
with the water to form carbonic acid, the substance which is having an immensely
adverse effect on coral reef systems. Severe or prolonged events of reef bleaching
have the capability to kill off entire coral colonies, leaving the corals and the species
that inhabit them vulnerable to other threats without much chance of survival or
resilience. The carbonic acid released into the water decimates a coral s ability to
build a calcium carbonate skeleton, and worsening acidification breaks down
previously existing skeletons, which aided in structurally supporting the reef. Above
all else, growing carbon dioxide levels facilitate higher amounts of carbonic acid in
ocean waters and, in turn, leads to reef bleaching.
Steps must be taken to reverse or, at the very least, lessen the effects carbonic acid
has on coral reef systems, as it is negatively impacting corals, sea creatures they
provide shelter to, and the environment in general. The destruction of coral colonies
due to changes in ocean acidification is taking both an ecological and socio
economic toll. Bleached corals are exponentially more likely to face a reduction in
growth rates and reproductive capacity, as well as a higher susceptibility to disease
and increased mortality rates. Changes in the composition of coral communities occur
due to the death of
Different Types Of Influenza
Influenza, also known as the flu virus is something that everyone has heard of, and
many people have gotten at some point within their life. It is a very common virus
that attacks the respiratory system. The flu affects thousands of people every year.
There are many different strains of the flu, but the main three are A, B, and C. There
are many symptoms that indicate infection, but they are usually not gastrointestinal.
Children, pregnant women, and elderly people are most at risk of catching the flu.
There are many ways to prevent from catching it and just as many ways to keep from
spreading the flu. The flu virus is one of most common viral infections that people
catch.

people, or even an entire population can be without antibody protection. This could
result in a pandemic. During the last century there have been three pandemics from
the flu virus. From 1918 19 Spanish flu A Caused the highest known influenza
related mortality: approximately 500,000 deaths occurred in the U.S., 20 million

Cry, the Beloved Country by Alan Paton
Change can be difficult for nurturing individuals. Alan Paton examines this problem
in Cry, the Beloved Country. Throughout the story, Paton adds specific personalities
to his characters to contribute to change. Characters in Cry, the Beloved Country
went through hardships that changed them to realize reality and its outcomes. Paton
accordingly creates a picture throughout his story to explain the problems in South
Africa. There are many contributing factors of Paton s idea to identify as being
important for changeto occur in Cry, the Beloved Country. In Paton s book, he
describes South Africa as a country that suffers from discrimination and the way the
natives are being treated. The message Paton is trying to send to his readers is for
change in equality, hope, and cooperation. The factors he listed were how the white
Europeans broke the native s tribes leading to high rates of being misfortunate,
competition for jobs, and crime. In Cry, the Beloved Country, three characters were
influenced by their surroundings and changed their point of view on society. Tribal
systems believe in being a stable familywith an honorable reputation. Breaking the
tribe s way of functioning leads to a sin based on Paton s book Cry, the Beloved
Country. Stephen Kumalo is a Priest, therefore having many responsibilities for
having a good reputation. Kumalo received a letter by Msimangu stating that his
sister Gertrude is ill. Stephen takes action by going to Johannesburg to find his
The Cause And Effect Of Bullying
It s thirty minutes till the school bell rings, A terrified twelve year old girl sobs
begging her mother to keep her from school. Meanwhile, across town another
twelve year old young lady tries to arrive to school ready to learn, she is detoured
by her raging mother mad because clothes are not folded properly in their place.
The sobbing pre teen will be coerced to go to school and, the one with family
problems finally arrives thirty minutes late finishing her homework on the car ride all
the while mother has yet to halt the abuse. Unknowingly these social differences
result in catastrophe. So we ignore the common variables within our family that make
bullies and define the bullied.
THE BULLIES AND THE BULLIED
More frequently than not parents are the underlined cause of bullying. At the very
least they are responsible for teaching the ways in which to avoid the stress and
social impact bullying causes .
Several parenting patterns, cause children to boss around or to be bullied as well as
give birth to the perpetrator, the bully.
Bullies
Authoritarian style parenting, which makes usage of violence or intimidation to
coerce children into cooperation is one that results in a bully to form.
This may look normal to most parents that grew up when belts were all the fashion.
The parent uses the former school,

Tone Of Those Winter Sundays
Childhood is usually something many people who do not put in the back of their
minds but rather would enjoy speaking about. But others think of it as more as a
dark time in their lives and want nothing more then to take it and put it in a tiny
spot where it will never be found or heard of again. This is evident in the poem
Those Winter Sundays written by Robert Hayden. Hayden talks about what seems
to be the relationship between a young boy and his father but is does not seem to
be one of the happiest relationships. It appears to be one full of darkness and
sadness and maybe even abuse. Hayden uses the setting, the tone of voice and his
choice of words to create the sad and depressed state that the poem talks about.
Hayden starts the beginning of the poem by talking about how his father who was
old and exhausted getting up every morning to start the fires in the home to make
sure the house was warm ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The speaker talks in very short words and ones that seem to tell a tale of unknown
sadness. Hayden uses blue black cold to help represent the tone of sadness and
loneliness that the family household feels. Also with the description of the father
having cracked hands that ached showed that the father also did not do well with
the cold each and every morning but also showed that he did work hard to provide
a proper life for his family. The choice of words in the poem also add to the
depressed state the family stays in. The speaker in the poem talks about winter cold
all throughout the poem which seems to show that the speaker does feel a deep
sadness and maybe even regret when thinking about his past and the the things they
may have gone through. And lastly when the speaker repeatedly says what did I
know, what did I know shows that now that he has grown up and is an adult, he
finally understands the sacrifices that his father made to make sure that he had a good
and fulfilling
The Importance Of Organ Donation
A girl named Ali was born with a liver defect called Progressive Familial
Intrahepatic Cholestasis. It wasn t until she was nine that she was actually
diagnosed and the prognosis was clear Ali s disease would get progressively worse
and she would die without a liver transplant. After a six month wait and one false
alarm, they got the call. A thirteen year old girl had died and the liver was a match
for Ali. The transplant was a success and the results almost instantaneously. When I
woke I remembered immediately noticing that my skin and eyes were no longer
yellow, and I didn t itch at all. It was amazing, says Ali. Today, Ali is a healthy
twenty year old junior college student double majoring in art and geography (How
Ali Received A New Liver). Ali s story was only 1 in 116,000 other patient
transplant stories. Ali had to wait six months to receive her much needed organ
because there is an organ shortage occurring and the only way to stop the shortage
is to increase the number of organ donors, living or deceased. A few ways to
increase the amount of organ donors is to financially compensate the organ donor
or the organ donor s family for funerals, offer Medicare coverage, and reimburse
the donor of cost during the donation process. Just one donor can save the lives of
eight people and change the lives of more than fifty people. The need for organ
transplants continues to exceed the supply of organs which is resulting in the
current organ shortage. An estimated 170,000 patients in the U.S. are on waiting
list for transplants. With such a large waiting list, a large number of patients have
set out to recruit their own donors; whether it is through a website or an
underground market. The U.S. banned organ sales two decades ago resulting in
the underground sale of organs. People have discovered the value of their own
organs and have been taking advantage of it. For example, there has been a case
where a South Korean man used his kidney as collateral for a loan. With such a
large need for organs; the government needs to think of a method to attract more
organ donors. One of the major suggestion is to financially compensate organ donors
as an incentive to entice more people to donate; whether it is a living

Understanding Business Research Terms and Concepts
There are many different types of quantitative data collection instruments and
sampling methods available to researchers. The ones that I have picked for the
purpose of his paper are questionnaire, sampling and surveying. Each can be a value
to a researcher when completed with accuracy.
Validity is the degree to which an instrument measure what it is purports to measure.
Invalid instruments can lead to erroneous research conclusions, which in turn can
influence educational decisions. Reliability is the internal consistency or stability of

When analyzing data, such as the marks achieved by 100 students for a piece of
coursework, it is possible to use both descriptive and inferential statistics in your
analysis of their marks. Typically, in most research conducted on groups of people,
you will use both descriptive and inferential statistics to analyses your results and
draw conclusions. So what are descriptive and inferential statistics? And what are
their differences? Descriptive statistics is the term given to the analysis of data that
helps describe, show or summarize data in a meaningful way such that, for example,
patterns might emerge from the data. Descriptive statistics do not, however, allow
us to make conclusions beyond the data we have analyzed or reach conclusions
regarding any hypotheses we might have made. They are simply a way to describe
our data.
Descriptive statistics are very important because if we simply presented our raw
data it would be hard to visualize what the data was showing, especially if there
was a lot of it. Descriptive statistics therefore enables us to present the data in a
more meaningful way, which allows simpler interpretation of the data. For example,
if we had the results of 100 pieces of students coursework, we may be interested in
the overall performance of those students. We would also be interested in the
distribution or spread of the marks. Descriptive statistics allow us to do this. How to
properly describe data through statistics
President Clinton Vs. The 104th And 105th Congress
President Clinton vs. the 104th and 105th Congress
President William Bill Clinton was the United States 42nd president. Bill Clinton
was born in Arkansas on August 19th 1946. In 1976 he was elected to become the
Attorney General of Arkansas. Two years later he became governor, becoming the
youngest governor. Clinton ran for president in 1992 with running mate Al Gore.
His presidency ran from 1993 to 2001. During his presidency the 104th ( 95 97)
and the 105th ( 97 95) Congress was established and the Republicans took over the
House with 228 seats in the 104th and 226 seats in the 105th. The Democrats had
206 seats in the house in the 104th and the 105th had 207 seats. The Senate was no

His term as Speaker of the House seemed as the opposite of President Clinton. When
he was speaker there were many government and budget shutdowns, and also
unpleasant impeachment proceedings. Yet Gingrich and Clinton have agreed on
welfare reform, tax cuts and budgeting deals.
Overrides and Vetoes Over the course of Clinton s presidency there have been 37
bills that have been vetoed, although 36 were regular vetoes, one pocket veto, and two
vetoes that were overridden. The two bills that were overridden are the Private
Securities Litigation Act of 1995 and the Line Item Veto.
The Bankruptcy Act of 2000 was one of the laws that was a pocket veto. The
sponsor of this act was Representative Christopher H. Smith. The bill as asserted by
the president because it was not fair towards ordinary debtors who fell on hard
times. Yet this represents a loophole for the wealthy. Under the Homestead
Exemption, bankruptcy filers can protect some of their equity in their homes under
chapter seven bankruptcy. This also implies to chapter 13 bankruptcy as well. You
can be relieved of all or most of your equity, this would decrease the minimum
amount you must pay to your creditors. In the meantime this will be easier to repay
your debts.
The Private Securities Litigation Act of 1995 but later overridden as the Private
Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995, was designed to stop or to limit non
serious securities
Hegel s Views On Religion
Religion for Hegel was something that was discussed throughout some of his
different writings, and was something that he had strong views on. It can be argued
that his view on religion in the state for the citizens creates the most liberal society
when comparing with that of Locke or Hobbes for those who desire to practice their
faith. He gives the choice to be involved in religion, or not, and shows how religion
can benefit the functioning of civil society.
Hegel s views on religion in the state cannot be sufficiently aligned with that of
Hobbes or Locke, and Hegel s views are very much his own. In a sense, he
combines elements of both of these two writers, and takes aspects that make it
difficult to draw a final conclusion that his ideas are more like one than the other.
Hegel s views on religion in relation to politics greatly differ from that of Hobbes
and Locke, but he believes that religion can play a vital role in creating ethical
political communities. Practicing your faith can provide information on morals to
live by, ad create a stronger society.
Hegel believed that Christianity is able to become a public religion that all citizens
can become a part of. He thinks this religion is important because it aligns itself
closely with his views on the way of living an ethical life, and he believed that you
can only become ethical by having this religious support and faith in something.
Christianity can be argued to be a religion of Sittlichkeit. This religion ultimately
Comparing Suetonius And Tacitus
The accounts of emperor Tiberius reign by both Suetonius and Tacitus have qualities
that serve to show how differing authors viewed Tiberius in various flattering and
unappealing ways by their personal reasoning and desire to preserve truth as much as
possible in scope of their respective intentions to provide scholars with treatments of
him that give a through picture of his traits, strengths and weaknesses. Overall, by
examining both accounts of Tiberiusreign, readers are able to form independent
judgement of Tiberius and if each description is biased beyond any semblance of
objectively. Overall Suetonius and Tacitusleaves books that differ in style and
accuracy but both do indeed want the residing public to understand the true... Show

Ultimately the tone of each account is tremendously different; Suetonius is more
concerned with its relation to history while Tacitus is intertwining his own spin on it
by blaming the emperor for his unreliability and foolishness.
Suetonius offers a wider treatment of Tiberius than Tacitus, at first him presenting
him in a much lesser hostile light and then increasing his disapproval as his
account unfolds. Tacitus however seems to be disapproving throughout with short
sports of approval filtering in when Tiberius has acted in a way beneficial to the
Roman public. However, Suetonius is very similar in some ways especially his
great disapproval of Tiberius displaying him as a sexual nymphomaniac (Suetonius,
Lives of the Caesars 43.1). In Tacitus, the engaged nobility comes through with an
outpouring of condemnation against Tiberius for his atrocities as Emperor and
angrily depicts a man who can role play depending on whom he is addressing and
whom is so disliked by the public that they hurl insults at him near death.
Advantages And Disadvantages Of The Competitive
Advantage...
The Competitive Advantage of Nations Competitive advantage is a business concept
which describes to us the characteristics necessary that allow an organisation to
outperform its competitors. This can be achieved through many avenues such as
providing consumers with greater value by either lowering prices or providing a
product or services that justifies a higher cost .Prevailing attitude on this subject
matter would suggest that factors like labour cost, interest and exchange rates and
economies of scale are principal factors in determining national success. However,
we learn from Porters article that real competitive advantage is developed by
innovation applied to the Diamond Model or The Diamond of National
Advantage, which in essence are four... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Porter however believes that it is important to go beyond the traditional factors of
production in that the most important factors were not inherited but were created
from within. For competitive advantage to be successful a company must focus and
specialise in an industry s particular needs. Once this is achieved it must continue to
work tirelessly to upgrade these needs. We learn from the article that through
upgrading and innovations that factors which may at first seem to be a disadvantage
can be converted into an advantage. An Example of this was shown to us with the
steel producers in Brescia Italy. Disadvantages included: locations in Northern
Lombardy meant high logistic costs and with inadequate transport system proved
costly as well as high energy cost, high capital costs and no local raw materials. They
established technologically advanced minimills that required small investment, use
less energy and permit producers to locate to sources of scrap and end use
customers. As a result factors that were a disadvantage were converted into a
competitive

According to the Scientific American, Across a mere 10 year period 1993 to 2003 statistics from the U.S. Department of Education revealed a 657 percent increase in the nationwide rate of autism. (Arkowitz and Lilienfeld) Parents often worry that a mercury based chemical called thimerosal causes very serious side effects including autism. Mercury, especially the methylmercury found in fish, can be toxic at high doses. The healthcare providers need to prepare themselves to answer patients in a reasonable fashion when worried parents come in asking for advice. Parents need to consider the scientific evidence rather than emotional experiences when deciding whether or not to vaccinate their child. If they want their child to have a strong immune system, have little to no risk at getting seriously sick, and help prevent illnesses from spreading then they need to get their children immunized. The government can help prevent people from getting ill by funding projects that will help others innovate safer vaccinations. Throughout history, vaccinations have saved countless lives and saved children from becoming permanently disabled, we need to support immunizations to protect the future generation s
  • 4. The Ministry Of Catholic Educations The Ministry of Catholic Educations says that youth ministry is a response to the mission entrusted by Christ. God told his disciples in Matthew chapter twenty eight verse nineteen Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit. And youthministryis one of the many ways the Catholic Church is doing this. As stated in the Occupational Outlook Handbook, recreational workers create programs that can be altered to specific age groups. Being a youth minister you encounter many different things. Like recreational workers, youth minister put together programs for both middle school and high school. The Arch Dioceses send a lesson plan of what the students should know by the end of the year. The youth ministers will then branch together similar topics and make that the main focus for the night. The themes revolve around the four pillars of the Catholic Church. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church these four pillars are faith, liturgy and sacraments, morality of our life and prayer. This program is a fun an interesting way to bring these teenagers to Christ. A typical night starts with snacks and games to start building a community and then officially starts with a prayer. One of the reasons we pray is to calculate disengagement which is transitioning the students into a more prayerful mode for the rest of the night. After prayer we go into a talk prepared by the minister and sometimes having a

  • 6. Analysis Of Last Days During Socrates last days, he speaks with Cebes about the fate of the soul. Cebes is unconvinced that the soul doesn t die concurrently with the body, which leads him to create an alternative analogy. Cebes imperfect analogy compares the body and soul to a cloak and a weaver, respectively. A cloak can be worn over and over again, which represents multiple human lives in a body. The weaver, however, outlasts each cloak until the last cloak dies. Cebes argues that because the weaver no long has a cloak to wear, he will die. This means that although the soulmay preexist and outlive a body, it too will eventually die. Therefore, if Cebes analogy turns out to be more accurate and correct, then the soul is not immortal. Socrates, on the other hand, believes that the soul is immortal and looks to Forms to prove the soul s immortality. He provides a safe answer that helps the reader understand not only his argument, but Platos argument and view of philosophy as well. In order to respond to Cebes argument, Socrates discusses causes. As a young man, Socrates was interested in physical science. However, he grew uninterested in physical science because he believed the inquiry into nature and science blinded him from certain ideas that he found paradoxical. For example, he was dissatisfied by the idea that two can be achieved in multiple ways: adding together two items or dividing a single item into two parts (97a b). He believed there should be a consistent cause for this,
  • 7. Essay about Democratic Republic of Congo Holocaust The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Holocaust was the bloodiest war fought. This was due to the death toll, possibly larger than that of the Holocaust. Between 1998 and 2007, there were a total of 5.4 million people dead. The number of those deaths has definitely gone up over the years (Heaton 1). Genocide is very vital because of the people being slaughtered and giving their lives away in order to support their political stance. Everyone, whether it is through war or poverty, suffers from this immense tragedy. I was interested in the topic due to the little bit of research I did. Through the research, I found out it was still going on today. I was taken aback by the fact this has been going on for so long and there is so little effort... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The deaths in this war are terrifyingly close to those in the Holocaust (Heaton 1). The massive death toll would include that of the Rwanda Holocaust and the Congo Holocaust. These deaths include murder, suicides, starvation, poverty, and disease. The political aspect of this situation is the government killing off rebels and targeting specific groups such as Hutu s, Tutsi s, and the DRC. They target people to rile up a dispute, start the war, and gain allies (World without Genocide 2). Many people are dying whether due to poverty, indirectly, or political stance, directly. The people suffering from the poverty aspect are getting the effects of the mass murders and the country s political instability. Genocide describes the heinous act of killing others in order to prove the point. In this case, Rwanda s government is targeting specific people. The Congo War, a massive destruction to their country, is genocide. One reason it is, in fact, genocide is due to the amount of murders occurring. But so far the brutal war in eastern Congo has not only lasted longer than the Holocaust but also appears to have claimed more lives [than the Holocaust], (Kristof 1). This shows that although unpopular and unknown to most, the Congo War devastates further than what it seems like at first. The everyday struggle people go through to stay alive is relative, bloodier, and more
  • 8. Artificial Intelligence and the Modern Military Artificial Intelligence and the Modern Military Wayne K Sullivan Saint Leo University MGT 327, CA01, Management Information Systems Professor Lawrence Mister November 26, 2011 Purpose: In today s military, leaders are continuously seeking ways to incorporate new technology to take the place of human soldiers. It has long been an important goal to be able to remove the human element from the modern battlefield, thus enabling high risk or sensitive political operations to be conducted without the fear of capture or exploitation of US military personnel. One such incident occurred during the Cold War, on May 1, 1960, during the presidency of Dwight D. Eisenhower and during the leadership of Soviet Premier Nikita... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Currently the key areas the Army is looking to artificial intelligence are chemical biological detection, counter explosive hazards, security, interdiction attack, and long range strike capabilities (US Army, 2010). Deployed soldiers have dozens of pounds of batteries, ammo, communications equipment and other Items such as food and water they have to carry on their backs, on top of heavy body armor, encumbering solders with up to 100lbs of additional weight. While this large amount of technology, is useful in combat, it can greatly fatigue solders prior to engagements and can render soldiers severely limited or even ineffective during sustained engagements with the enemy (Knapik, 1989). It is this reason that the U.S. Army is experimenting with a variety of remotely controlled and even wearable machines to lighten this load. Some are deeply quirky, designed to resemble a headless dog. The spooky Big Dog quadruped robot, which is being developed by robotics company Boston Dynamics, has some of the most advanced artificial intelligence and navigation systems in the planet. In fact, US Army officials are stunned by its programmed behaviors, which make Big Dog extremely helpful in the battlefield. Big Dog can run along soldiers, walk slowly, or lay down to be loaded or unloaded with up to 400 lbs of gear, equivalent to one full squads (6 men) backpacks, all
  • 9. Achilles Vs Perpetua Quotes Achilles or Perpetua: Who is the more heroic? Greek tГ®mГЄ means, in a literal meaning, worth or value. It was a socially constructed value that measured a person s value to their society. Namely that an individual s sense of honor was only valid if others within their community perceived them to be honorable. Honor could be achieved such as military, social, or political or ascribed, in the sense that a person was honorable because of their reputation. In the same ways, a person could just as easily be dishonorable or shamed. Furthermore, the most crucial tenets of honor in antiquity would be whether a person has died with or without honor. Based on this concept, Achillesis irrefutably more heroic than Perpetua. Under the persecutions during the Severan Dynasty Perpetua, a twenty two year old new mother, was killed for her Christian beliefs. Although in today s definition of heroism (perhaps selflessness) we might answer this question differently, however if we are to examine these characters and their actions within... Her own father pleads her to set aside her pride, lay aside your courage, and do not bring us all to destruction; for none of us will speak in freedom if you should suffer anything (Willis 4). (2)Liquidity Transformation Liquidity provision is essential to financial intermediation. In Financial Intermediaries and Liquidity Creation, the key insight is that bank debts need to be information insensitive and thus provide liquidity. Most banks are required to hold only a portion of their bank deposits as cash available for immediate withdrawals. Therefore, the assets of a bank are less liquid than its liabilities. (3)Credit Transformation Credit transformation involves the arbitrage of a bank s credit risk by making loans and investing in securities with a lower credit standing and higher yield than the bank s financing instruments. The social impact and the religious elements of My Neighbor Totoro made it one of the most important films establishing Hayao Miyazaki s name and reputation in the film industry, both in Japan and worldwide. What makes this film famous and powerful is not only the magical, mysterious world or the adorable character that Miyazaki creates, but also the film s persuasive way of delivering an unusual message on the three layered relationship between humans and nature. How Miyazaki makes his audience feel connected with the characters starts with a comparison between Miyazaki s early childhood and the story of the film. Miyazaki uses his childhood memories and his careful observation of others to create a realistic and believable world. Then, with a selected scene of the girls meeting Susuwatari, a black creature in the old empty house, I want to illustrate that Miyazaki s use of a familiar fear from many people s childhood introduces the audience to a magical and unknown world, but also makes the audience feel the world is familiar and acceptable. The sacredness of nature is presented through a comparison between Japanese religions and ritual practices and the symbols in the film. The controversy of affirmative actionhas increased. Should affirmative action be considered in the application process, when applying to an educational institution? In the article, Finally Getting it Right on Affirmative Action by Charles Krauthammer, Krauthammer discusses various facts that lead to the consistent disagreement: Should universities take race into their admission process, also known as, Affirmative Action. In the Aztec civilization there are two cultural practices that stand out. These are: human sacrifice and agriculture. Many historians have a mutual disagreement over which one should be emphasized over the other; which practice deserves more attention. Here are three reasons why agriculture should be more emphasized than human sacrifice: agriculture was crucial for everyday living, it was well organized/ cleverly constructed, and it played a huge role in Aztecculture. The Aztecs, just like any living being needed food to survive. Agriculture provided food since it was the practice of farming and became crucial. The Aztec farmers did not only grow food for themselves, but also enough for their entire cities, like Tenochtitlan (Doc B). This played a major role in trade and the economy. The farmers used Chinampas which were small mounds of land that were very fertile ( they are still being used today in Mexico City) to farm. • 37. Postpartum Depression And Breastfeeding Depression Introduction I believe that mental health is not well discussed, or known, in today s culture. People could struggle with mental health daily and others could have no idea. There are many different types of mental health issues, and one specific issue that is rarely discussed is postpartum depression. Postpartum depression is a specific type of depression that new mothers can experience after the birth of their child. (Schacter, Gilbert, Wegner, Nock, 2012). The changing hormones a mother can experience directly after birth cause this condition. Postpartum depression can cause a mother to feel sad, guilty, and even experience thoughts of suicide. Postpartum depression may be discussed in the text, but the causes and even the treatments are not. The journal article I researched explains the correlation between postpartum depression and breastfeeding (Borra, Iacovou, Sevilla, 2014). Specifically, if the intention of breastfeeding, and if the actual action is completed, can affect postpartum depression. Postpartum depression is a treatable mental health issue, and researchers are currently trying to prove what the best treatments are and also how to prevent it. My future research would be seeing the improvement rates between not going to therapy, group therapy, and cognitive therapy. Then ultimately figuring out what the best treatment plan would be. Summary The study done showed the causal relationship between postpartum depression and breastfeeding (Borra, Iacovou,

At risk is half of the world s population who reside in the 106 countries and territories that are prone to plasmodium falciparum transmission. Who is this killer? Anophelesgambiae complex, which has devastated the African region acting as a vector for the parasite plasmodium falciparum, more commonly referred to as malaria. Why has a parasite that is responsible for approximately half of all recorded deaths relatively unheard of in Western civilization? The answer lies with the deforestation and non sustainable practices that plague the African union.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Annually, 200 million malaria cases are contracted and of these, 90% occur in Sub Saharan Africa. Approximately one million people die annually, making plasmodium falciparum the most deadly parasitic disease. Contraction of plasmodium falciparum begins when a female Anopheles mosquito injects sporozoites, an early form of plasmodium falciparum, into the host. This sporozite is then transported to the human liver where it undergoes asexual reproduction producing merozoites. The merozoites invade other liver cells and enter the host s bloodstream, where they invade erythrocyte. After the infection of the erythrocyte, the merozoite is transformed into a trophozoite, which then begins asexual reproduction near the nucleus to form a schizont in the erythrocytic cell. The schizont then asexually reproduces to produce mononucleated merozoites. When the erythrocytic cell ruptures due to the 3,000 4,000 merozoites produced, symptoms of fever and chills are induced within the host. This life cycle is extremely damaging to children; persons under the age of 5 account for 86% of malaria fatalities. Malaria has other characteristic effects, such as yellowing of the skin/eyes (jaundice), sweating, vomiting, weakness, and nausea. Current mortality rates in Africa are 9.33% per 1000 children, which represent 28.2% of all fatalities for those under five. The story changes dramatically as the host

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, I expect that REITs use relatively less debt for financing, because of the relatively higher cost of debt. Already in 1958, Modigliani and Miller have pointed the discussion of capital structure towards the cost of debt and equity. According to their first proposition, in a world of no corporate taxes and with perfect markets, financial leverage has no effect on a firm s value. In their second proposition, they state that the cost of equity equals a linear function defined by the required return on assets and the cost of debt (Modigliani and Miller, 1958). As negative aspects of debt, e.g. personal tax loss and bankruptcy costs however do exist in reality, Miller (1977) elaborates that leverage will either have no or a negative effect on the firm s value, hence untaxed firms should favor equity. Nevertheless, firms have used leverage even before corporate taxes have been introduced (Maris and Elayan, 1990). This implies the existence of some market imperfections, which benefit the use of debt financing, thus enable a trade off of the cost and benefits of debt resulting in an optimal capital structure, where marginal cost equal marginal benefits.

  • 45. Environmental Effects Of Coral Bleaching Coral reefs are diverse and extensive underwater ecosystems that provide habitats for around one quarter of the oceans species, an astoundingly high number considering they make up less than two percent of the ocean floor. These reefs are held together by calcium carbonate, and the corals themselves are living creatures with protective skeletons. However, these so called rainforests of the sea are in danger. Coral bleaching, an event in which a general increase in water temperatures leads to a reduction in the microscopic algae acting as a basis for the corals diet, is leading to the fragmentation of once vast and stable coral reefsystems. Reef bleaching mainly occurs due to increases in carbon dioxidelevels, which facilitate rising water temperatures and dangerous amounts of ocean acidification, otherwise known as pH. As copious amounts of carbon dioxide are absorbed by the ocean, CO2 reacts with the water to form carbonic acid, the substance which is having an immensely adverse effect on coral reef systems. Severe or prolonged events of reef bleaching have the capability to kill off entire coral colonies, leaving the corals and the species that inhabit them vulnerable to other threats without much chance of survival or resilience. The carbonic acid released into the water decimates a coral s ability to build a calcium carbonate skeleton, and worsening acidification breaks down previously existing skeletons, which aided in structurally supporting the reef. Above all else, growing carbon dioxide levels facilitate higher amounts of carbonic acid in ocean waters and, in turn, leads to reef bleaching. Steps must be taken to reverse or, at the very least, lessen the effects carbonic acid has on coral reef systems, as it is negatively impacting corals, sea creatures they provide shelter to, and the environment in general. The destruction of coral colonies due to changes in ocean acidification is taking both an ecological and socio economic toll. Bleached corals are exponentially more likely to face a reduction in growth rates and reproductive capacity, as well as a higher susceptibility to disease and increased mortality rates. Changes in the composition of coral communities occur due to the death of

After a six month wait and one false alarm, they got the call. A thirteen year old girl had died and the liver was a match for Ali. The transplant was a success and the results almost instantaneously. When I woke I remembered immediately noticing that my skin and eyes were no longer yellow, and I didn t itch at all. It was amazing, says Ali. Today, Ali is a healthy twenty year old junior college student double majoring in art and geography (How Ali Received A New Liver). Ali s story was only 1 in 116,000 other patient transplant stories. Ali had to wait six months to receive her much needed organ because there is an organ shortage occurring and the only way to stop the shortage is to increase the number of organ donors, living or deceased. A few ways to increase the amount of organ donors is to financially compensate the organ donor or the organ donor s family for funerals, offer Medicare coverage, and reimburse the donor of cost during the donation process. Just one donor can save the lives of eight people and change the lives of more than fifty people. The need for organ transplants continues to exceed the supply of organs which is resulting in the current organ shortage. An estimated 170,000 patients in the U.S. are on waiting list for transplants. With such a large waiting list, a large number of patients have set out to recruit their own donors; whether it is through a website or an underground market. The U.S. banned organ sales two decades ago resulting in the underground sale of organs. People have discovered the value of their own organs and have been taking advantage of it. For example, there has been a case where a South Korean man used his kidney as collateral for a loan. With such a large need for organs; the government needs to think of a method to attract more organ donors. Typically, in most research conducted on groups of people, you will use both descriptive and inferential statistics to analyses your results and draw conclusions. So what are descriptive and inferential statistics? And what are their differences? Descriptive statistics is the term given to the analysis of data that helps describe, show or summarize data in a meaningful way such that, for example, patterns might emerge from the data. Descriptive statistics do not, however, allow us to make conclusions beyond the data we have analyzed or reach conclusions regarding any hypotheses we might have made. They are simply a way to describe our data. Descriptive statistics are very important because if we simply presented our raw data it would be hard to visualize what the data was showing, especially if there was a lot of it. Descriptive statistics therefore enables us to present the data in a more meaningful way, which allows simpler interpretation of the data. For example, if we had the results of 100 pieces of students coursework, we may be interested in the overall performance of those students. We would also be interested in the distribution or spread of the marks. Descriptive statistics allow us to do this. How to properly describe data through statistics

  • 53. Hegel s Views On Religion Religion for Hegel was something that was discussed throughout some of his different writings, and was something that he had strong views on. It can be argued that his view on religion in the state for the citizens creates the most liberal society when comparing with that of Locke or Hobbes for those who desire to practice their faith. He gives the choice to be involved in religion, or not, and shows how religion can benefit the functioning of civil society. Hegel s views on religion in the state cannot be sufficiently aligned with that of Hobbes or Locke, and Hegel s views are very much his own. In a sense, he combines elements of both of these two writers, and takes aspects that make it difficult to draw a final conclusion that his ideas are more like one than the other. Hegel s views on religion in relation to politics greatly differ from that of Hobbes and Locke, but he believes that religion can play a vital role in creating ethical political communities. Practicing your faith can provide information on morals to live by, ad create a stronger society. Hegel believed that Christianity is able to become a public religion that all citizens can become a part of. He thinks this religion is important because it aligns itself closely with his views on the way of living an ethical life, and he believed that you can only become ethical by having this religious support and faith in something. Ultimately the tone of each account is tremendously different; Suetonius is more concerned with its relation to history while Tacitus is intertwining his own spin on it by blaming the emperor for his unreliability and foolishness. Suetonius offers a wider treatment of Tiberius than Tacitus, at first him presenting him in a much lesser hostile light and then increasing his disapproval as his account unfolds. Tacitus however seems to be disapproving throughout with short sports of approval filtering in when Tiberius has acted in a way beneficial to the Roman public. However, Suetonius is very similar in some ways especially his great disapproval of Tiberius displaying him as a sexual nymphomaniac (Suetonius, Lives of the Caesars 43.1). In Tacitus, the engaged nobility comes through with an outpouring of condemnation against Tiberius for his atrocities as Emperor and angrily depicts a man who can role play depending on whom he is addressing and whom is so disliked by the public that they hurl insults at him near death.
