School Life Is The Best Life
Introduction
School life is the best life remark says that life is all about learning for something new innovation.
School gives us better education, joyful life, careless about everything etc. It is the most pertinent
part of human life. It is the really free from the care and great happiness for the students.
A person s education is one of the most important factors in determining whether or not they will
become a productive member of society.Facing the technological revolution that we are going
through without a good quality education , a person will be left behind .
All parents want their child to be shelter on their school/college campus. Keep in mind that
campus safety should also refer to the sorrounding neighbourhoods because chances are your child
is going to be out exploring his new environment. A student must feel comfortable and safe at his
or her school/college campus . If not, this will likely lead to poor academic performance and
declined social activity.
All school/colleges do their best to keep campus housing a safe area , but there are still general
safety tips that your child must remain aware of.

,students move into residences. Life without curfews and many house rules would seem to be a
student s first taste of being an mature.Living in the student residence is the biggest difficulty and

The Company s freight management business provides air and sea freight transportation by
acquiring cargo space from airline and shipping firms. (Reuters.com, 2007) 3 The Literature Search
Most of the financial information on TNT can be found on the company s website. The financial
newspapers, particularly De FinanciГ«le Telegraaf were also very useful. The international
website of Reuters is very useful for investors. The textbook В‘Accounting and Finance for non
specialists (Atrill, P. and McLaney, E., 2006) is a good guidance for calculating ratios for the
financial analysis. The annual reports of the main competitors were used for a good comparison of
the financial influence, market share and share price performance. A more detailed bibliography is
outlined in appendix A. 4 The Data and its Analysis
To give a true and fair view of the financial strengths and weaknesses of TNT, the annual report
will be judged on the basis of five aspects. Ratio analysis on profitability, efficiency, liquidity,
financial gearing and the investment grade of the company will be used. The analysis comprises
a comparison of TNT s development from 2004 to 2005 as well as its relative performance against
its competitors. In this analysis, except where stated otherwise, a forward looking approach is used
by excluding the logistics division.
The ratios can be found in paragraph 4.1 to 4.5. In paragraph 4.6 an overview will be given of TNT

Wondrous Wetlands Ecology Summary
Wondrous Wetlands Ecology Summary
SUMMARY
Wondrous Wetlands is an article about the conservation department of Missouri finding ways to
save wetlands for future generations. Those who are directly impacted by wetlands are those who
enjoy things such as hunting and wildlife watching, but can affect everyone, because wetlands
contribute to the clean water that we drink and even cycling nutrients in our environment. When
wetlands began to diminish in the 1980 s, conservationists realized there was a problem when they
saw waterfowl populations diminishing. The department then developed a plan to develop more
wetlands to try and save the populations, which was known as the 1989 WetlandPlan. The wetland
plan developed an additional 12,500 acres ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I really enjoyed how the article talked about the plans that the state of Missouri is working on to
keep waterfowl populations around as well as all other organisms that live in a wetland
environment. I think that it is so true that so many are forgetting about how important ecosystems
such as this one is to the survival of many. We as a human species have gotten so wrapped up in our
smart phones and computers that many of us forget the beauty that the outside world holds.
One piece of information that really stood out to me in this article was that since the advance of
technology used to study wetlands has grown, we now can determine what kinds of plants will
grow in just a few inches of water and who will benefit from it. Since contour maps were
replaced with computer mapping software they can now also determine small changes in
elevation that also affect organisms and where they can be found. Even though it will take time to
fix many of the populations that were affected by the decline of wetlands, I am glad to see that
there is a plan in place to try and preserve these areas for future generations as well as needing
them for our

Reasons For Buying Luxury Goods
Their average monthly consumption times are more than twice, and the consumption cost is also
the highest in all age groups. The China Daily newspaper has reported that, younger Chinese luxury
goods consumption has become a trend. In their survey of Chinese youth luxury goods
consumption, more than 60% of young consumers indicated that in order to pursuit fashion and
taste, they are willing to pay big bucks to buy luxury goods(Wu, 2014).
Miss Wang worked for a foreign bank branch in Beijing Financial Street; she is a typical white

I think the reason for this is vanity, but the young people passion on luxury goods also cannot be
excluded.
According to the report of China Financial and Economic News (2015), Miss Lu is a 22 years girl
which working in and advertising company in Shanghai. Her monthly income is 6,000 yuan, but
she is holding a Louis Vuitton bag that cost more than 20,000 yuan (Around 2,000 pounds). Miss
Lu said that, in order to buy this Louis Vuitton bag, she has saved money for several months. In the
months for saving money, she ate instant noodles in most of the days, and stick with free bus
transportation to save Metro ticket money. Furthermore, the questionnaire result has also shows
that, for young consumers, the main purpose of buying luxury goods is to reward themselves.
In addition, China s young rich and the rich second generation are the main promoters of younger
luxury goods consumption. China Finance has reported that, the US and European luxury
consumption are concentrated in over 40 years old people. However, young Chinese luxury
consumer groups are rapidly growing up (Rebaca, 2013). Furthermore, Wu Jin has said that (2013),
the youngest of the world s luxury consumers in China, and they are spending their parents money

Essay How to Give American Students a Billingual Education
Imagine what Christopher Columbus first said when stepping on American soil. Perhaps he said:
This land holds great promise. Whatever he said the more fascinating question to ponder centers
around what language did he speak, for Christopher Columbus, a multi linguist, knew Italian,
Spanish, and Portuguese. So what happened to the diversity of languages in this land of promise?
Many foreigners contribute to the melting pot of America, bringing their culture and language, yet
American schools continue to teach just one language in today s society. The heated debate among
parents, educators, and politicians over a multilingual education in the United Statesbegan in the
late nineteenth century. Over the next sixty years many crucial... Show more content on

Government geared support for bilingual education in the 1970s, almost ruling bilingual education
as a requirement by President Carter; nevertheless, President Reagan turned the country against
bilingual education by undoing President Carter s proposal, cutting bilingual education funds, and
enacting English Only Laws in more states over the course of the 1980s (Jost 1039) . Despite the
lingering criticism from the 1980s, President Clinton reenacts the bilingual education law in 1994;
however, President George W. Bush s No Child Left Behind Act, which requires all students to meet
standards otherwise schools will receive penalties, negates the bilingual education law (Jost 1039).
Since 1998, many states have passed loopholes bypassing the teaching of another language similar
to California s Proposition 227 stating the specific teaching method of English immersion, when
students only receive instruction in English, for English language learners. Yet, other states like
Utah and Minnesota have discovered the advantages and benefits of two way bilingual immersion.
Over these decades, the federal financial plays as the major culprit to the fluctuating support for
bilingual education. Although the Total Spending Government Spending graphs, which includes
Federal, State, and Local spending, from 1960 to 1990 demonstrate the increasing amount spent on
education, the percentage of total money spent on education wavers from

PROCESS IMPROVEMENT FROM THE PRINCIPAL S VIEW
Effective leadership requires purpose and direction. Planning and preparation are vital when
evaluating the success of the institution. The course reading states: ?As a new principal, you must
assess the capacity of delivery mechanisms, facilities, and equipment before you make
recommendations for enhancements? (WGU Student Portal, January 5, 2017). Attention to detail,
being flexible and problem solving are at the core of school leadership. This paper will discuss two
types of delivery mechanisms as it relates to learning and provide specific examples of how
programs are used. Next, examine school facilities, technology and equipment, including use and
specifications. Finally, discuss process improvement as it relates to the educational institution.

Kristallnacht s Night Of Broken Glass
In history books, it shows that many people in the past and nowadays are being bullied
and treated horribly because of their religion or beliefs. The night of November 9th was one of the
nights were the Jewish people were being attacked by the Germans, that night in the history book is
called Night of Broken Glass or Kristallnacht . That Night and many events that follow had a big
impact on today s history. Many people that had survived the holocaust or was a witness of those
horrible acts of terror and intolerance had told their stories so we can remember our past that is
part of our world today. We should never forget what happened then because we are a part of

Painting The Exterior And Interior Of The House
Like Claude Monet, colours may or may not be your daylong obsession, but as someone receptive
to the subtle tonal changes you are bound to feel the absence of the same in your surrounding most
acutely. For that simple reason, you cannot simply imagine living in a home devoid of colours.
Painting the exterior and interior of the house
To transform your house into an elegant and comfortable home, you need the assistance of many
qualified personnel including professional painters. Professional painters in %{city} play a
significant role in improving the quality and liveability of the newly built structure you are about to
call home.
The necessity of painting the exterior of the house as well as the interior ones is driven by aesthetic
considerations. But that is not the only reason behind opting for professional wall painting. There
are several other benefits that we hardly take a note of. High quality exterior paint increases the life
of the masonry work. Your house becomes better equipped to withstand the elements of nature.
Right colour scheme augments the curb appeal of your house. Colours have considerable social
and cultural impact too. Vibrantly colourful houses typical to St John s in Newfoundland and
Labrador or Lunenburg in Nova Scotia are not so common in other parts of the country. By their
colourful nature you can identify these cities instantly. It would be difficult to imagine a lacklustre
building in middle of St John s and Lunenberg.

Robert Boyle Research Paper
Robert Boyle, born January, 25 1627 was an Irish born natural philosopher and chemist. Boyle is
known for being the first modern chemist, and best known for his law Boyle s law. This law
describes the relationship between pressure and volume of gas, within a constant closed system of
temperature. Robert s life of scientific research took place when he joined a band of enquirers or
the Invisible College , which devoted themselves to new philosophy. The relationship between
pressure and volume that Robert Boylestudied was first noted by two scientists Richard Towneley
and Henry Power. Robert Boyle just confirmed their studies and published it first taking credit
for it and is named after the law. In Boyle s experiment to see how pressure and volume were
connected, Boyle used a J shaped piece of glass tubing that was sealed on one end, gas was
trapped in the sealed end of the tube and fluctuating amounts of mercury were added to the J shaped
tube to vary the pressure of the system. Boyle fluctuated the pressure and measured the... Show

These measurement was done by using a fixed amount of gas and a constant pressure and
temperature. This way Boyle was able to examine the pressure volume relationship without
problems from other factors such as changes in temperature or amount of gas.
This is the data analysis that supports Boyle s experiment. When the volume pressure data has been
found, the next task is to determine the precise relationship between the two properties. Even
though a large number of relationships are possible, the most likely possibility is that the volume
will relate to the pressure raised to some random power

Keep Your Head Up By Ben Howard
Keep Your Head Up Music is an art that has the capability of drawing out the deepest emotion
within us. For that very reason, we are extremely attracted to such art. Different genres attract
diverse groups of people. Often it is easy to spark memories within our consciousness by listening
to particular songs. For me personally, I have a bittersweet connection to the song, Keep Your
Head Up, By Ben Howard because the lyrics provoke happiness and encouragement, a couple of
traits I struggle with at times, yet the tune sparks beautiful memories with an estranged, beloved
friend. My sophomoreyear of high schoolwas one of the hardest years I have ever been through,
mentally and emotionally. Depression, lack of self esteem, and addiction had always affected
my life in some way, whether it be through close family members or friends or within my own
self. Through series of events, I found myself in a terrible place in life in my sophomore year of
high school, and I had not the slightest clue how to solve it. At some points, I did not even
really care to fix it. I struggled maintaining grades and maintaining relationships with my friends
as well as my parents. I was simply not a pleasant person to be around, yet somehow, in all of this
mess I called my life, someone special walked in, unexpectedly, and managed to spark a change
within me. We were instant best friends. People assumed we had known each other since a young
age, some even went to the extent of believing we

Lust In Romeo And Juliet
In one of the most highly renown love tragedies written in history, Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet
explains the highly debated notion of love at first sight through the relationship between the two
star crossed lovers , Romeo and Juliet. Though many can argue that this relationship between the
two is only for lust, it is clearly shown in the play that the family rivaled couple is truly in love.
Through Juliet s decisiveness and maturity, Juliet shows that her relationship with Romeo is not
about lust, but about true love. First, Juliet experiences her first moment of true love when she
meets Romeo at the Capulet Masquerade. In the beginning of the play, Juliet is seen as a young,
inexperienced teenager not ready for love. As she meets

Essay about A Better Solution to the Underage Drinking...
A Better Solution to the Underage Drinking Problem
Recently, the issue of underage drinking has become a major problem for our society. According
to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (2009), about 10.4 million young
people between ages 12 and 20 have drank more than just a few sips of alcohol. Moreover, 5,000
people under the age of 21 die each year in alcohol related deaths including car crashes, homicides,
and other injuries such as falls (NIAAA, 2009). When adolescents go out to drink, they often cause
a problem. Alcohol abuse is a significant problem among young people and a solution needs to be
found. I believe that there are two approaches to dealing with this issue: many governments have
created new, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some experts examined wine drinking cultures such as those in Italy, France and Spain for hints
on how to handle alcohol policy better (The Statistical Assessment Service, 2005). In these
cultures, alcohol is part of a meal and children learn to drink with their parents from a very early
age. Therefore, children can learn to take responsibility for their decision of drunkenness.
Although these cultures have high rates of daily drinking, rates of binging and other alcohol
problems have, historically, been low (STATS, 2005). Alcohol itself is viewed as a neutral
substance; it is drunkenness and not drinking that is seen as the problem. In contrast, northern
drinking cultures typically have lower rates of daily drinking but higher rates of binging, alcohol
related problems and complete abstinence (STATS, 2005). The U.S. and Japan has generally
followed the northern pattern. Although this solution will take a long time and a lot of effort, it
hopes that cases of underage drinking will decrease. Indeed, government officials should consider a
change of the legal drinking age immediately.
In today s society teenage alcoholism is a very serious problem that needs to be addressed more.
While the problem of underage drinking cannot be solved in a day or two, there are two approaches
I think work well. As the result of stricter penalties remains unclear, governments should certainly

The War For Equality During The 20th Century
The War for Equality The first half of the Twentieth century witnessed both WWI and WWII and
another war as well; the War for Equality. With a racism and persecution at a high level, racial
minorities were ready to fight back. In the first half of the Twentieth century the mistreatment of
racial minorities led to a War for Equality; fought on many levels with varying levels of success.
The war was fierce and did not end in the first half of the Twentieth Century. Like any war the
War for Equality had its causes, in this case the war was brought about by the continued
mistreatment of racial minorities. This mistreatment came in many forms: segregation, violation of
other civil rights, and violence. Racial minorities faced segregation on different levels. Blacks
were kept out of public facilities in the South, Mexicans in the West, and Chinese out of America
itself. In 1896 The Supreme Court case, Plessy v. Ferguson, determined separate public facilities
were constitutional as long they were equal, allowing segregation of racial minorities. Segregated
facilities rarely proved equal. While the Supreme Court ruling kept blacks out of white facilities,
the Chinese Exclusion Act kept the Chinese out of America. The Chinese Exclusion Act, renewed
in 1902, made it increasingly difficult for Chinese to enter America, while also making it easier for
them to be deported (Chinese Exclusion Act). Consequently, Mexicans filled the role of cheap
laborers that Chinese previously

Cold War Readings Devil s Advocate
Cold War Readings Devil s Advocate Response For my response, I have chosen to focus in on
some of the statements provided by the Nussbaum reading as well as JFK s City Upon a Hill
speech. As the group s Devil s Advocate, I will strive to make logical and realistic counterpoints to
some of the information from the readings that I found either unseemly, disingenuous, or unrealistic
as it relates to our modern world.
The Nussbaum (it literally means Nut Tree in German) reading focused primarily on the idea that
higher education should emphasize the ethical role and moral obligations of a global citizen, one
that travels among other cultures and recognizes, or even adapts to, the cultural tenets of the so
called other. Two points of focus... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kennedy recanted to his audience during his famous City Upon a Hill speech the message that
Pericles gave to the Athenian people: We do not imitate for we are a model to others. In a
similar fashion to the Nussbaum article, Kennedy addressed the distinctions between a local
identity and a national identity, especially in relation to the obligations that one must hold to
one or the other. In his case, Kennedy was making the appeal that despite his rise to power on a
national level as President of the United States, he would still maintain his traditional views
fostered by his Massachussetts upbringing. It was here my grandparents were born, he said, it is
here I hope my grandchildren will be born. Therefore, even though Kennedy is recognizing his
moral obligation to the country on a national level as its President, he is maintaining discourse
with his local identity. An objection that I took with this message was that even though I found
myself agreeing with a fair portion of its content, I m not entirely bought on the idea that one
should necessarily feel bound by obligation to their nation, especially when one can t help the
circumstances of their birth. What if my nation is inherently flawed, or even lawfully evil like
Nazi Germany am I still bound by obligation to my nation? Because I happen to live here, am I
robbed of my own agency to choose whether or not I support my government? Secondly, Kennedy
addresses his audience with Pericles famous statement to the people of Athens, that We do not
imitate. Ignoring the inherent flaws of American exceptionalism, I think it is a fundamental
injustice to declare that one must only submit to original ideas of governance, rather than looking
outward to other models for inspiration. Our founding fathers used primarily recycled ideas from
the Enlightenment in order to craft the documents that would create America as we know it today,
and so I do not think

Consequences Of Unisciplined Children In The Veldt By Ray...
Consequences of undisciplined children Many people have witnessed a toddler having a meltdown
in public only to have a parent sooth them by giving in to the child s demand. Although sometimes
this can be a beneficial parenting technique, if a parent over indulges a child too often, then that
child can become spoiled. However in The Veldt, Ray Bradburychallenges the idea of satisfying
children; he suggests through his tragic tale of the spoiled and undisciplined children Wendy and
Peter, that over indulged kids will be taught to not value their family. Through the use of spoiling
kids, harms of technology, and conflict, Ray Bradbury shows children need to be disciplined in
order to be well rounded individuals. Bradbury uses spoiling Wendy and Peter to show they
weren t well rounded, by emphasizing that they were over indulged in materialistic wants. When
parents Lydia and George were talking, Lydia explained, They re insufferable let s admit it.
They come and go when they like; they treat us as if we were offspring. They re spoiled and we
re spoiled. The description of how the parents feel provides the reader with a better understanding
that even the parents can no longer control Wendy and Peter s disrespectful ways caused by their
mistakes of spoiling the children. Bradbury establishes the kids as so over indulged that even
Lydia and George could not discipline the children if they put their minds to it. Towards the end of
the story we see that not being able to

What Is The Theme Of The Forge By Seamus Heaney
The Man Behind The Door Into The Dark Seamus Heaney uniquely constructed his poem The
Forge to tell a story of an inspired outcast scrutinizing a man while he conducts true art. This poem
is not only about an outsider fantasizing about the unknown, but also about a blacksmith s every
move and more. The audience is left questioning who is this mysterious blacksmith? and who even
is this being of inspiration? After profound research was done, it was uncovered that the narrator is
actually Heaney, and the blacksmith is his dexterous neighbor, Barney Devlin. Heaney s definitive
word choice was significantly influenced by his young, budding mindset as a child, leading him to
speak so strongly about someone that he hardly even knew. As the inspiration behind multiple
works of Heaney, Barney Devlin was a local blacksmith and neighbor to the narrator. It is said by
Vincent Hanley that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Forge, Heaney expounds Devlin, recalls a clatter / Of hoofs where traffic is flashing in
rows; (Lines 11 12). Even supposing Heaney knows nothing true about the blacksmith s past, he
uses his fanciful mentality to approach the audience with a realistic explanation of changes that
have come with time. At this point, the world has changed dramatically, subsequent to the
beginning of the blacksmith s career. There is not much reasoning for the blacksmith s work
anymore, considering that the backbone of his business was the horseshoe. Now that time has
brought upon cars, the red light outside his house is a daily reminder of what used to be. He
recalls a time when the sound of hoofs could be heard from the forge. Heaney had not ever spoken
to Devlin, yet knowing the facts of the past and the grunting sounds coming from the inside,
Heaney was able to conceive some possible meaning for it

Life Of Pi Internal Conflict
2. One of the main conflicts of the Life of Pi is that between Pi and himself. For 227 days, Pi
was at sea with thoughts to himself thinking of how he was alone and orphaned, in the middle of
the Pacific (Martel 107). Being by yourself in the ocean with no idea of if you are going to
survive can lead to negative thoughts. Especially since Pi could only rely on himself. While he
did have Richard Parker, he couldn t talk to Richard and expect a reply. His conversations were
too himself and he had to remain sane through this internal conflict. Along with this, he has a
conflict with himself and his lack of knowledge on how to survive at sea. Pi had many questions on
his survival like What would I eat? What would I drink? How would I keep the sharks away? How
would I keep warm? How would I know which way to go? (Martel 147). The answers to all of his
questions were things... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite Pi s internal conflict with himself, Pi experiences a great conflict with Richard Parker,
depending on how the reader interprets the book. It is one of the most obvious conflicts of the Life
of Pi and is resolved when Pi and Richard Parker reach land. Upon reaching land, Richard Parker
simply leaves, much to Pi s disappointment. The event is highly unceremonious and Pi says he
was certain he would turn my way. He would look at me. He would flatten his ears...In some
such way, he would conclude our relationship. He did nothing of that sort (Martel 284). It was a
resolution that went out in a whimper in both Pi s opinion, as well as my own. While Pi is
displeased with this heart wrenching conclusion, I am satisfied with it. I do wish that Richard
Parker did have that one final look at Pi, but I think this simple conclusion brings out a certain
emotion in Pi, along with the reader, that would not occur had there been an extravagant ending.
This conclusion brought me an immense sadness and longing, almost as if I were Pi in the
situation, and I think writing of that power is

Pros And Cons Of Serial Killers
Every decade brings a new Eureka! In the 70s, we became convinced that urban poverty caused
violence. In the 80s, it was all due to mental illness, and in the 90s substance abuse was definitely
the culprit. Now it s malfunctioning brains that are to blame (Edersheim, Price, and Smoller).
What defines a serial killer? According to the FBI, a serial killer is someone who commits at least
three murders over more than a month with an emotional cooling off period in between (Brogaard).
With this in mind, people like Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, and Jeffrey Dahmer are serial killers.
What makes them this way? Is it genetics or is it the fact that their childhood was a nightmare?
The debate amongst scientists for years doesn t have an answer. There is plenty of evidence to
support that fact that most serial killers are missing a certain enzyme in their body that dwindles
their empathy senses. There is also plenty of facts about real life killers that show that
environment and upbringing is what ruins them, and turns them from a happy child to the
deranged adult they become. Serial killers are born and made because of genetics and the
environment. Serial killers are born due to a gene and enzyme that affects the brain. This gene is
called the warrior gene. The so called warrior gene comprises particular variations in the X
chromosome gene that produces monoamine oxidase A (MAOA), an enzyme that affects the
neurotransmitters dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin (Powledge)

The article Vorsprung Durch Exports , translated Advance Through Exports was published online in
the Economist on Feb 3rd 2011 from their print edition. The author who is not named concentrates
on the economic performance of the G7 member countries, mainly on Germany. Compared to the
other countries of the G7, Germany is the best performer of the last decade. With a GDP expansion
rate of 3.6% Germany put itself ahead of most other rich countries, including the United States.

This is all transferred to the government. All taxes and insurances are mandatory except for the
church tax, which covers eight percent of the monthly income. However, if a resident of Germany
doesn t want to pay church taxes he has to do is resign from his church. The negative effect on that
decision is that somebody who is not a member of a church and who is not paying church taxes can
t get their children baptized. Germany s majority is Christian and this decision will negatively
influence their life.
In my assumption, the only reason Germany can show such growth in GDP is because the country
is taking too much advantage of their social structure. After World War II, Germany built a social
structure, which includes national health care for everyone, unemployment payments for everyone
and social security payments. As my father as an economist always says: The game is still the
same, but the rules have changed dramatically. The retirement age was extended from fifty five to
sixty seven, health insurance needs extra fees for a doctor s visit and unemployment payments are
limited to sixty seven percent of a calculated twelve month average income for the first twelve
months. After the 12th month the government supports their residents in a subsistence level.
This brings me to the decreased unemployment rate

Wordsworth And Shelley s On Powers And Illusions Of The...
The Romantic period, a time that writers such as Wordsworth and Shelley focused their writing in
the centre of life and social importance. An important aspect of Romanticism: its emphasis upon
the power and terrors of the inner imaginative life (Watson, 2012, p. 1). The Prelude celebrates
Wordsworth s life retained through memories and with the act of remembering, depicting emotions
and experiences. Whereas, Shelley and the Ode to the West Wind engaged his audience with inner
and outer lives situations, ideas and elements of nature that represent his own position and ideas.
This essay will compare and contrast Wordsworth recollections and Shelley dramatizations of the
powers and terrors of the inner imaginative life . Also considering, rhyme scheme, stanza forms,
the reasons for the use of assonance and alliteration, and other poetic techniques. Finally, how do
these effects relate to the main question. When given consideration to the poems, the descriptions
demonstrated a deeper power of inner imaginative life. The power as stated comes from the heart
or the soul, but also somehow from outside (The Open University, 2012, Romantic authorship,
transcript p. 1). In comparison, both poets combine natural landscape with sublime vision of
poetic power, that creates debates to what is real and or subjective. The Romantic period required
authors to fulfil the Romantic ideology. Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792 1822) with a reputation for
social and political ideas

Compare and Contrast Ottoman and Mughal Empires Essay
The Ottoman and Mughal empires were two of the greatest and most successful empires to ever
form in history. However, they both had some similarities as well as differences. Both empires went
through tough periods of time, but at some point they also went through times of growth and
prosperity. Although the Ottoman and Mughal Empireboth did not force conversions into Islam, the
Ottoman s development relied on their tough military force, while the decline of the Mughal

Babur expanded his kingdom by attacking Afghanistan and conquering Kabul after 21 years of
being in power. From that point, he crossed over the mountains into Hindustan and attacked the
Dehli Sultanate, again defeating them and gaining their land. When he died in 1530 he had
conquered all of Hindustan and controlled an empire that stretched out from the Deccan to
Turkestan. These different strategies of conquering land helped the 2 empires rule throughout Asia
and, in the Ottoman s case, some parts of Europe also. Although the Ottoman and Mughal empires
had two different reasons for decline, both were because of the leaders currently in power at the
time. Even though Suleyman, the ruler of the Ottomans, accomplished social and cultural
achievements, the empire was losing ground. Suleyman made a mistake by killing two of his sons.
His third son, the incompetent Selim II, inherited the throne. Suleyman set the pattern for the future
sultans to gain and hold power. It became customary for each new sultan to kill his brother. This
practice produced a long line of weak sultans who eventually brought ruin on the empire. Since

Police Power In Achieving Justice In The Law Enforcement...
The criminal justice system is effective in achieving justice, in relations to police power and
authority. Police are tasked with an essential role in protecting and enforcing the law. They are a
critical aspect towards the criminal justice system and the criminal investigation process. To assist
their role to the community, they ve been provided several types of powers and authorities to
achieve their duties towards the community. These authorised powers are used to stop, search and
detain a person when they re certain a crimeis committed. Consequently, policecan use this authority
to potentially violate another individuals right, such as privacy. Whilst this power allows police to
fulfil their duty to the community, is that justifiable to violate an individuals right?
Police makes the decision whether to investigate a crime based on the likelihood of success,
available resources and priorities or the severity of the offence. Police can use several methods
and authorised powers to assist their investigation. Most of NSW Police s powers are listed out in
the Law Enforcement (Powers and Responsibilities) Act 2002 (NSW). Law Enforcement (Powers

Short Essay On Taj Mahal
Taj Mahal
The globalisation processes conduce to the blurring of boundaries between nations. The modern
life let us feel ourselves the global citizens, according to the concept of global citizenship. Every
year, tourists totalling two times the population of Agra pass through its gates to catch a glimpse of
one of the most magnificent and spectacular buildings in the world. Few leave disappointed after
seeing this beautiful site.
One of the most famous and beautiful architectural monument that attracts the masses from all over
the world is Taj Mahal. Built in the 17th century, a great example of the Mughal architecture. Its
marble dome, tilted minarets and majestic tombs has become a source of wonder and delight for
millions of people.
The Taj Mahal was ordered to be constructed by the Indian ruler Shah Jahan, from materials
including lapis lazuli, jade, amethyst, etc. The Taj Mahal complex includes a main gateway, a
garden, a red sandstone mosque, and a building called the jawab. Shah Jahan had desired to build a
second mausoleum across the river, to have his own remains buried there and the two mausoleums
to be connected with bridges. Unfortunately, these plans never took shape.

Great Plains Ecosystem Essay
Aquatic habitats in the Great Plains region were historically dominated by rivers and streams with
associated wetlands and few natural lakes. Native fishes are typically riverine species that are in
many cases adapted to strong current, turbid water, and a wide range of water temperatures.
However, many species that require clear water and cool temperatures are found as relict
populations in springs and headwater streams. The native and introduced fishfauna are an important
link in food chains for many species and are significant economic resources for many communities.
The native fish fauna of the Great Plains includes representatives of twenty eight families and more

Lion King Character Analysis
What s In A Character? The Lion King is best known for its ironic characters. From Simba to
Zazu, everyone has a favourite. Let s take a look at the characters in the order that they appear in
the film. Zazu As the king s majordomo it is his job to see to everything in the name of the king.
Seen as bossy and highly organised, Zazu is an early babysitter to Simba and Nala at the
beginning of the film. Sarabi tells Simba and Nala, they can go to the watering hole as long as
Zazu goes with them. Best Quote: Didn t your mother ever tell you not to play with your food?
Mufasa The king of the Pridelands until his death, Mufasa was no nonsense but loved his son.
He was always at odds with his younger brother, Scar. Until his death, Mufasa tried to teach
Simba, what he would need to know when he became king. Best Quote: You have forgotten who
you are and so have forgotten me. Look inside yourself, Simba. You are more. Rafaki A baboon
of few words, Rafaki is a long standing friend of Mufasa. Rafaki oversees the spiritual aspects.
Rafaki is also seen as humorous as he takes great pride in hitting Simba with his staff. He goes all
kung fu on the hyenas during the battle with Scar. He foresees Simba s return to the Pridelands
years after he was exiled by hyenas. Best Quote: The past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can
either run from it or learn from it. Okay, so to the outside world, Rafaki is down right nutty and
annoying and maybe a little creepy. However, his apparent nonsense is actually based on
wisdom. Sarabi Even though we don t see much of Sarabi in the film, she still plays an important
role. She is Mufasa s mate/wife, the mother of Simba and the sister in law of Scar. She is seen to
maternal, kind and doesn t like it when Scar talks poorly about Mufasa after his death. Best
Quote: It s over! There is nothing left! We have only one choice: We must leave Pride Rock!
Simba Simba first makes his appearance as a cub laying in the paws of his mother, Sarabi. He is
presented to the kingdom as the heir of Pride Rock. Over the course of the film, Simba goes from
being a cub determined to be a king. He becomes young adult wanting nothing to do with his past.

It all started at two weeks and five days (19 days), when she inherited two copies of her father s

overproduce a hormone of growth. This puts her at the risk of cancer because cells divide fast,
which can cause tumors. Her kidneys are most at risk, because there were abnormalities in the

An Argument Of Humanity, Justice, Horror, Duty, Mercy, Hope
All Great things are simple and many can be expressed in simple words: freedom, justice, horror,
duty, mercy, hope. Winston Churchill. The film is persuasive in the argument of humanity, in its
relation to morality. The question of morality is the question of virtue or in this case the fight
between good and evil, also know as yin and yang.
The usage of colours black, white, brown, blue, green, yellow, and red, stand alone are to effective
describe good or evil, yin or yang. The colours are also mixed to show the coexisting harmony of
the colours together can bring about a heightened form of destruction or form of good. For
much of the film the colour red is used to symbolize anger, fury, destruction, and death. The first
usage of the colour is with the branding iron, with the mark of Immortan Joe. The significance
of the branding iron is linked with the feeling of a cage/imprisonment, a mark of enslavement
/ownership. This stance is more emphasised by the wives as they yell at nux that they are no
more than breeders and battle fodder for an old man. Red is also symbolized as light and warmth
in regards to one of the wives, Capable. The colour blue is used to symbolize peace, healing,
knowledge, life, quite, grievance, and night. The first time the colour is used is in the form of
night after the death of Angharad, the world is drenched in blue except for the four wives, that are
shown in colour with benefit of light. The colour is also shown translucently in water. The

Multinational Business Corporations Gain More Power
The world is entering a period where corporations are gaining more power in society.
Multinational business corporations will ultimately become more powerful than the government.
Corporations influence decisions made by the government by providing campaign funding and
lobbying. Businesses strive to satisfy their consumers wants and needs far well than the
government strives to satisfy the wants of its population. Financial crisis and recession can begin
in areas where jobs provided by corporations are lost, granting businesses power over the job
market and gross domestic product. This essay will address how corporations are ... Show more

Some corporations have larger revenue than the gross domestic product of some countries.
Walmart makes more revenue than Norway s GDP: Norway is the world s 25th largest country
with a GDP at $414.46 billion however still lower than Walmart s revenue which is $421.89
billion (Trivett, 2011). Developing countries work very hard to attract foreign investments because
corporations reward thousands with jobs, benefit shareholders (rise share prices) and increase
global well being. If a corporation falls down, financial crisis and recession can begin. This power
forces the government keep corporations alive and satisfied so they continue to provide jobs for
local residents.
In conclusion, these trends are allowing businesses to play a significantly larger role in people s
daily lives than the government. Corporations continue to grow as they invest in foreign countries
thus increasing their revenue and influencing local societies. Populations are beginning to look at
companies to solve social problems and corporations are doing it at a faster rate than the
government. Lastly, corporations are viewed in a higher regard in the eyes of the public versus the
government. Therefore, corporations will gain more power than the government if these trends
continue to strive.

A Report On India s The Garden Where Plastic Bags
On a visit to India a while back I came upon a fenced empty field that was practically buried in
flimsy white throwaway plastic bags, the kind you carry your purchases home in from the store.
The locals joked that this was the garden where plastic bags grew.
But when I returned to India last month, I was pleasantly surprised to find that now when you
shop in New Delhi, no store will give you a plastic bag for your purchases. They re illegal there, as
well as in many other Indian cities and states.
That puts India well ahead of most of the world when it comes to this particular ecological issue.
Most everywhere in the U.S., for instance, the throwaway plastic bag remains the ubiquitous way
people haul their stuff home from the local store. But those bags never biodegrade into anything
that nature can use again.
Worse, the vast majority of such single use plastic items never get recycled, and even degradable
plastics may not degrade all that well. On top of that, product life cycle assessments, which are on
the verge of becoming more commonly available and used in the marketplace, do not include either
litter or biodegradability as factors.
The news on some once promising plastic alternatives is not so encouraging. A review published
last month in Environmental Science and Technology by a group of scientists one at the polymer
science division of the Indian Institute of Technology finds that degradable The news on once

The The Flower Thief
The ad that my partners and I analyzed is one with interesting components to it. This assignment
made me think more about how ads convey the intentions of the creators as well as what one can
interpret through studying the ad. My partners and I studied the Ray Bans still ad (pictured below)
(Copyranter 1).
Other people inspire people all the time so one of the first places to look at was any inspiration for
this advertisement. It was found that the inspiration for this ad was Taylor Mead (Bans 1). Taylor
Mead was an openly gay man who was an actor. He was born in Grosse Pointe, Michigan in 1924
and died in 2013. During his life, he moved to New York City to live freely. While in New York
City, Mead was an actor in the movie The Flower Thief and due to this, Mead caught Andy Warhol
s attention (Herd 1). Andy Warhol was a famous artist who created works such as performance art,
filmmaking, and more (Biography.com Editors 1). It has been widely thought that Warhol was gay
or that he was a voyeur who is someone who gains sexual pleasure from watching others being
naked/engaging in sexual activity (By June 1951 1).
Interestingly, after Warhol saw Mead in The Flower Thief , they started to work on films together
such as Tarzan and Jane Regained , Sort Of , and Lonesome Cowboys . Eventually, a critic panned
Mead, stating that in The Flower Thief , which was done without Warhol, Mead s butt was
viewable the majority of the film. This criticism led to Mead and

Janet Kourany s Analysis
The words ally, promise, and egalitarian have no place in science. Virtuous though they may be,
these words, all of which Janet Kourany uses to describe her ideal socially responsible science,
besmirch science s fundamental and essential impartiality. Though the argument that science has
slighted women is undeniably true at certain points throughout our nation s history, it does not
justify the radical redefinition of sciencethat Kourany proposes. In a lengthy precursor to its thought
provoking conclusion, the article contemplates science s role in documenting [women s] inferiority
and neglecting women s needs and priorities (Kourany 8). Implicating it as a field guilty of the
former injustice, psychology is the first science to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I wholly agree with publicly funded science s need to keep in mind the society for which it
works when considering resource allocation, but I entirely disagree with Kourany s understanding
of the word society and therefore also find this argument unmoving. Society is singular; it is one
whole. To argue that science should be responsive to society is fair, but to argue that science
should be responsive to an arbitrarily defined demographic within the greater society is
unjustifiable. Furthermore, if we accept Kourany s argument, that science should be particularly
responsive to the people who ultimately [pay] for science, should science then ignore or be less
responsive to the people who pay less (Kourany 13)? Should science focus primarily on ailments
that consistently affect Caucasians, the largest racial demographic in the United States? Should
science ignore the disconcerting prevalence of diabetes among less wealthy demographics because
these communities contribute less to science s monetary base? I, and I imagine most Americans,
would vehemently oppose these suggestions in favor of a science uniformly responsive to the
needs of the entire society, society as a whole rather than a collection of

The Fenian Movement Essay
The Fenian Movement
Fenian Movement, which was organized 1858, started as a secret revolutionary society in Ireland
and the United States. This movement was created in the honor of the Fianna, known as the ancient
Irish warriors. Fenians wanted to achieve Irish Independence from England by force. This
movement was also known as the Fenian Brotherhood, Fenian Society, Irish Republican
Brotherhood, and Irish American Brotherhood. The Fenians also had a very strong military force
located in Ireland. The reason for a strong army in the society was to gain independence from
England. This movement was led by James Stephens from 1825 to 1901. He founded the party, the
Irish People, in Dublin 1863. The Fenian Movement mostly appeals to ... Show more content on

O Brien and Meagher were charged with having made seditious speeches at a meeting (D Arcy, 67).
This situation helped to the irritation and anger of the Irish people creating a tense atmosphere
was many rebellions took place. During this period Mitchel was an important figure that was
fighting for the Irish Independence like many other people in this era. One of the causes for this
terrible events was that Mitchel had been imprisoned in Dublin s Newgate on 13 May, charged
under the new Act, and was tried on 25 May. He was convicted and sentenced to 14 years
transportation (D Arcy 69). Then his friends helped him escape prison to Spike Islands. Then he
regained the confidence to appear in front of the magistrate were he said to them: I have come to
tell you that I will no longer be a prisoner on parole, I take back my word (D Arcy 71). Before the
magistrate got the chance to arrest Mitchel, he escaped. As Mitchel there are many important
figures that are disappointed, because they didn t have the opportunity to express themselves and
make a difference fighting for the Irish Independence. Dublin was a place in which things don t
seem to get better. It is compared to a place in which people can escape their destiny.

Violent Drug Crimes
Peter Wagner, executive director of the Policy Reform Initiative, stated on March 14, 2017, that
nonviolent drug convictions are a defining characteristic of the federal prison systems but play
only a supporting role at the state and local levels. Since the official beginning of the War on
Drugs in 1982, the number of people incarcerated for drug offenses in the U.S. skyrocketed from
40,900 in 1980 to 469,545 in 2015. Since it is common knowledge that racism is very much still
prevalent in today s society, I will forgo the argument of racial disparities concerning those
convicted for drug crimes or any crime, for the statistics speak for themselves.

As apparent in their 2017 Criminal Justice Fact Sheet, the NAACP stated that nationwide, African
American children represent 32% of children who are arrested, 42% of children who are
detained, and 52% of children whose cases are judicially waived to criminal court. Racial
profiling in the treatment toward the younger generation is one of the driving causes of the
future effects we see happen. For example, these group of young adolescents that are targeted
because of their skin color have to face a myriad of unnecessary obstacles in the aftermath such
as not being able to complete their education, not being able to find a job much less a career, and
not being able to be a part of society. These often hinder their success as individuals and ultimately
is detrimental to our society as a whole.
Based off of data gathered by the U.S. Department of Justice, if current trends continue, one of
every three black males born today will go to prison in his lifetime, as will one of every six Latino
males. As for white people, those who have long sentences only have long, harsh sentences
because the particular crimes they commit are perceived as a black crime. (Ted Chiricos, Kelly
Welch Marc Gertz, Racial Typification of Crime and Support for Punitive Measures, 42

Oakley Unstoppables Case Study
These Oakley Women s Unstoppable sunglasses are considered one of the best sunglasses for
UV eye protection. Ultraviolet rays from the sun damages your cornea, lens of the eye, and the
eyelids. Many people believe that the darkness of the sunglasses lens provide blockage of UV rays,
but that isn t the case. Polarized lenses are what give you eyeprotection.
Overview of Oakley Women s Unstoppable Sunglasses
The best sunglasses for UV eye protection have polarization, which we mentioned previously. The
Oakley Unstoppables have the kind of lenses you need. They also have variations that don t have
polarization, so make sure you re aware of that before ordering.
You can mix and match frame and lens colors to give you exactly the style you want for driving,
heading to the beach, or walking around near the water. They re lightweight lenses and frames, so
you can wear them all day while the nose pads will stop the glasses from slipping during any
activity.
Manufacturer
While Oakley is based in California, it s a subsidiary of Luxottica. They re an Italian company that
produces luxury sports equipment as well as other accessories like watches, shoes, and backpacks.
The company was created by James Jannard out of his garage. The year was 1975.
In that year, they were revolutionary because of the grips, which were made of a trademarked
material he called Unobtainium. It s still used in the nose piece of the sunglasses, too. Oakleys
have long since been associated with the sports industry as the go to glasses.
Frame and Lens Colors Available
The frames come in a few different colors; black, crystal raspberry, matte brown tortoise, metallic
black, polished black, raspberry spritzer, and tortoise. This gives you enough variety to have a pair
that will match nearly every outfit you own.
The lenses come in black non polarized, gray, black, prizm tungsten polarized, chrome iridium
polarized, prizm gold, rose gradient polarized, brown gradient polarized, bronze polarized, and gold.

Explain The Reasons Why Language Change Over Time
There are many reasons why language change over time. Social, cultural and even age factors are
some of the major influences in how language change. Language tells us a lot about each country
and holds information that can be traced back in history and cultural background. Every country has
its own way of living, they have their own rules and regulations. Everything that makes that country
what it is, is passed down from generation to generation. When we learn a language, we aren t only
taught that language, we are also taught the cultureof the nation that it belongs to. It s truly difficult
to accurately understand a language without understanding the culture associated with it. Rev SJ du

Because of migration, we are exposed to different languages and with language always changing a
developing we see the adaptation of the of new words or new meanings of existing words.
Learning a new language is also regarded as a social process rather than an individual achievement.
Everyone has their own way of speaking and communicating with others. Which gives amazing
experiences because we all know that the way people generally think is the same way they
generally communicate. When different ethnic society is combined, they tend to force the
development of words that are not frequent. Ethnic diversity and variations are usually the influence
that drives the rule of language. Language variation is affected by ethnic groups because they often
have to learn a language that is specific to their environment. Although they consider their language
to be their identity they are often forced to substitute it with another or combine it. Take for
instance an immigrant that arrives in a new country. They have their own language and their own
way of speaking however that have to quickly adopt the new language however they may still
incorporate some of their own language with the new dominant

  • 4. Wondrous Wetlands Ecology Summary Wondrous Wetlands Ecology Summary SUMMARY Wondrous Wetlands is an article about the conservation department of Missouri finding ways to save wetlands for future generations. Those who are directly impacted by wetlands are those who enjoy things such as hunting and wildlife watching, but can affect everyone, because wetlands contribute to the clean water that we drink and even cycling nutrients in our environment. When wetlands began to diminish in the 1980 s, conservationists realized there was a problem when they saw waterfowl populations diminishing. The department then developed a plan to develop more wetlands to try and save the populations, which was known as the 1989 WetlandPlan. The wetland plan developed an additional 12,500 acres ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I really enjoyed how the article talked about the plans that the state of Missouri is working on to keep waterfowl populations around as well as all other organisms that live in a wetland environment. I think that it is so true that so many are forgetting about how important ecosystems such as this one is to the survival of many. We as a human species have gotten so wrapped up in our smart phones and computers that many of us forget the beauty that the outside world holds. One piece of information that really stood out to me in this article was that since the advance of technology used to study wetlands has grown, we now can determine what kinds of plants will grow in just a few inches of water and who will benefit from it. Since contour maps were replaced with computer mapping software they can now also determine small changes in elevation that also affect organisms and where they can be found. Even though it will take time to fix many of the populations that were affected by the decline of wetlands, I am glad to see that there is a plan in place to try and preserve these areas for future generations as well as needing them for our ... • 6. Essay How to Give American Students a Billingual Education Imagine what Christopher Columbus first said when stepping on American soil. Perhaps he said: This land holds great promise. Whatever he said the more fascinating question to ponder centers around what language did he speak, for Christopher Columbus, a multi linguist, knew Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese. So what happened to the diversity of languages in this land of promise? Many foreigners contribute to the melting pot of America, bringing their culture and language, yet American schools continue to teach just one language in today s society. The heated debate among parents, educators, and politicians over a multilingual education in the United Statesbegan in the late nineteenth century. Over the next sixty years many crucial... Government geared support for bilingual education in the 1970s, almost ruling bilingual education as a requirement by President Carter; nevertheless, President Reagan turned the country against bilingual education by undoing President Carter s proposal, cutting bilingual education funds, and enacting English Only Laws in more states over the course of the 1980s (Jost 1039) . Despite the lingering criticism from the 1980s, President Clinton reenacts the bilingual education law in 1994; however, President George W. Bush s No Child Left Behind Act, which requires all students to meet standards otherwise schools will receive penalties, negates the bilingual education law (Jost 1039). Since 1998, many states have passed loopholes bypassing the teaching of another language similar to California s Proposition 227 stating the specific teaching method of English immersion, when students only receive instruction in English, for English language learners. Yet, other states like Utah and Minnesota have discovered the advantages and benefits of two way bilingual immersion. Over these decades, the federal financial plays as the major culprit to the fluctuating support for bilingual education. Painting The Exterior And Interior Of The House Like Claude Monet, colours may or may not be your daylong obsession, but as someone receptive to the subtle tonal changes you are bound to feel the absence of the same in your surrounding most acutely. For that simple reason, you cannot simply imagine living in a home devoid of colours. Painting the exterior and interior of the house To transform your house into an elegant and comfortable home, you need the assistance of many qualified personnel including professional painters. Professional painters in %{city} play a significant role in improving the quality and liveability of the newly built structure you are about to call home. The necessity of painting the exterior of the house as well as the interior ones is driven by aesthetic considerations. But that is not the only reason behind opting for professional wall painting. There are several other benefits that we hardly take a note of. High quality exterior paint increases the life of the masonry work. Your house becomes better equipped to withstand the elements of nature. Right colour scheme augments the curb appeal of your house. Colours have considerable social and cultural impact too. Vibrantly colourful houses typical to St John s in Newfoundland and Labrador or Lunenburg in Nova Scotia are not so common in other parts of the country. By their colourful nature you can identify these cities instantly. It would be difficult to imagine a lacklustre building in middle of St John s and Lunenberg. Right shades tend to ... The relationship between pressure and volume that Robert Boylestudied was first noted by two scientists Richard Towneley and Henry Power. Robert Boyle just confirmed their studies and published it first taking credit for it and is named after the law. In Boyle s experiment to see how pressure and volume were connected, Boyle used a J shaped piece of glass tubing that was sealed on one end, gas was trapped in the sealed end of the tube and fluctuating amounts of mercury were added to the J shaped tube to vary the pressure of the system. Boyle fluctuated the pressure and measured the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These measurement was done by using a fixed amount of gas and a constant pressure and temperature. For that very reason, we are extremely attracted to such art. Different genres attract diverse groups of people. Often it is easy to spark memories within our consciousness by listening to particular songs. For me personally, I have a bittersweet connection to the song, Keep Your Head Up, By Ben Howard because the lyrics provoke happiness and encouragement, a couple of traits I struggle with at times, yet the tune sparks beautiful memories with an estranged, beloved friend. My sophomoreyear of high schoolwas one of the hardest years I have ever been through, mentally and emotionally. Depression, lack of self esteem, and addiction had always affected my life in some way, whether it be through close family members or friends or within my own self. Through series of events, I found myself in a terrible place in life in my sophomore year of high school, and I had not the slightest clue how to solve it. At some points, I did not even really care to fix it. I struggled maintaining grades and maintaining relationships with my friends as well as my parents. I was simply not a pleasant person to be around, yet somehow, in all of this mess I called my life, someone special walked in, unexpectedly, and managed to spark a change within me. A Better Solution to the Underage Drinking Problem Recently, the issue of underage drinking has become a major problem for our society. According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (2009), about 10.4 million young people between ages 12 and 20 have drank more than just a few sips of alcohol. Moreover, 5,000 people under the age of 21 die each year in alcohol related deaths including car crashes, homicides, and other injuries such as falls (NIAAA, 2009). Some experts examined wine drinking cultures such as those in Italy, France and Spain for hints on how to handle alcohol policy better (The Statistical Assessment Service, 2005). In these cultures, alcohol is part of a meal and children learn to drink with their parents from a very early age. Therefore, children can learn to take responsibility for their decision of drunkenness. Although these cultures have high rates of daily drinking, rates of binging and other alcohol problems have, historically, been low (STATS, 2005). Alcohol itself is viewed as a neutral substance; it is drunkenness and not drinking that is seen as the problem. In contrast, northern drinking cultures typically have lower rates of daily drinking but higher rates of binging, alcohol related problems and complete abstinence (STATS, 2005). The U.S. and Japan has generally followed the northern pattern. Although this solution will take a long time and a lot of effort, it hopes that cases of underage drinking will decrease. Indeed, government officials should consider a change of the legal drinking age immediately. In today s society teenage alcoholism is a very serious problem that needs to be addressed more. With a racism and persecution at a high level, racial minorities were ready to fight back. In the first half of the Twentieth century the mistreatment of racial minorities led to a War for Equality; fought on many levels with varying levels of success. The war was fierce and did not end in the first half of the Twentieth Century. Like any war the War for Equality had its causes, in this case the war was brought about by the continued mistreatment of racial minorities. This mistreatment came in many forms: segregation, violation of other civil rights, and violence. Racial minorities faced segregation on different levels. Blacks were kept out of public facilities in the South, Mexicans in the West, and Chinese out of America itself. In 1896 The Supreme Court case, Plessy v. Ferguson, determined separate public facilities were constitutional as long they were equal, allowing segregation of racial minorities. Segregated facilities rarely proved equal. While the Supreme Court ruling kept blacks out of white facilities, the Chinese Exclusion Act kept the Chinese out of America. As the group s Devil s Advocate, I will strive to make logical and realistic counterpoints to some of the information from the readings that I found either unseemly, disingenuous, or unrealistic as it relates to our modern world. Kennedy recanted to his audience during his famous City Upon a Hill speech the message that Pericles gave to the Athenian people: We do not imitate for we are a model to others. In a similar fashion to the Nussbaum article, Kennedy addressed the distinctions between a local identity and a national identity, especially in relation to the obligations that one must hold to one or the other. In his case, Kennedy was making the appeal that despite his rise to power on a national level as President of the United States, he would still maintain his traditional views fostered by his Massachussetts upbringing. It was here my grandparents were born, he said, it is here I hope my grandchildren will be born. Therefore, even though Kennedy is recognizing his moral obligation to the country on a national level as its President, he is maintaining discourse with his local identity. An objection that I took with this message was that even though I found myself agreeing with a fair portion of its content, I m not entirely bought on the idea that one should necessarily feel bound by obligation to their nation, especially when one can t help the circumstances of their birth. What if my nation is inherently flawed, or even lawfully evil like Nazi Germany am I still bound by obligation to my nation? Because I happen to live here, am I robbed of my own agency to choose whether or not I support my government? Secondly, Kennedy addresses his audience with Pericles famous statement to the people of Athens, that We do not imitate. Ignoring the inherent flaws of American exceptionalism, I think it is a fundamental injustice to declare that one must only submit to original ideas of governance, rather than looking outward to other models for inspiration. Consequences of undisciplined children Many people have witnessed a toddler having a meltdown in public only to have a parent sooth them by giving in to the child s demand. Although sometimes this can be a beneficial parenting technique, if a parent over indulges a child too often, then that child can become spoiled. However in The Veldt, Ray Bradburychallenges the idea of satisfying children; he suggests through his tragic tale of the spoiled and undisciplined children Wendy and Peter, that over indulged kids will be taught to not value their family. Through the use of spoiling kids, harms of technology, and conflict, Ray Bradbury shows children need to be disciplined in order to be well rounded individuals. Bradbury uses spoiling Wendy and Peter to show they weren t well rounded, by emphasizing that they were over indulged in materialistic wants. When parents Lydia and George were talking, Lydia explained, They re insufferable let s admit it. They come and go when they like; they treat us as if we were offspring. They re spoiled and we re spoiled. The description of how the parents feel provides the reader with a better understanding that even the parents can no longer control Wendy and Peter s disrespectful ways caused by their mistakes of spoiling the children. The audience is left questioning who is this mysterious blacksmith? and who even is this being of inspiration? After profound research was done, it was uncovered that the narrator is actually Heaney, and the blacksmith is his dexterous neighbor, Barney Devlin. Being by yourself in the ocean with no idea of if you are going to survive can lead to negative thoughts. Especially since Pi could only rely on himself. In the 80s, it was all due to mental illness, and in the 90s substance abuse was definitely the culprit. Now it s malfunctioning brains that are to blame (Edersheim, Price, and Smoller). What defines a serial killer? According to the FBI, a serial killer is someone who commits at least three murders over more than a month with an emotional cooling off period in between (Brogaard). With this in mind, people like Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, and Jeffrey Dahmer are serial killers. What makes them this way? Is it genetics or is it the fact that their childhood was a nightmare? The debate amongst scientists for years doesn t have an answer. There is plenty of evidence to support that fact that most serial killers are missing a certain enzyme in their body that dwindles their empathy senses. There is also plenty of facts about real life killers that show that environment and upbringing is what ruins them, and turns them from a happy child to the deranged adult they become. Serial killers are born and made because of genetics and the environment. Serial killers are born due to a gene and enzyme that affects the brain. This gene is called the warrior gene. The Romantic period, a time that writers such as Wordsworth and Shelley focused their writing in the centre of life and social importance. Rafaki is also seen as humorous as he takes great pride in hitting Simba with his staff. He goes all kung fu on the hyenas during the battle with Scar. He foresees Simba s return to the Pridelands years after he was exiled by hyenas. Best Quote: The past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it or learn from it. Okay, so to the outside world, Rafaki is down right nutty and annoying and maybe a little creepy. However, his apparent nonsense is actually based on wisdom. Sarabi Even though we don t see much of Sarabi in the film, she still plays an important role. She is Mufasa s mate/wife, the mother of Simba and the sister in law of Scar. She is seen to maternal, kind and doesn t like it when Scar talks poorly about Mufasa after his death. Best Quote: It s over! There is nothing left! We have only one choice: We must leave Pride Rock! Simba Simba first makes his appearance as a cub laying in the paws of his mother, Sarabi. He is presented to the kingdom as the heir of Pride Rock. Over the course of the film, Simba goes from being a cub determined to be a king. He becomes young adult wanting nothing to do with his past. He believed for years that he ... This gene told her body to grow twice as big in the womb. This makes her body overproduce a hormone of growth. This puts her at the risk of cancer because cells divide fast, which can cause tumors. Her kidneys are most at risk, because there were abnormalities in the kidneys. Doctors thought she might develop a tumor, but she didn t. The significance of the branding iron is linked with the feeling of a cage/imprisonment, a mark of enslavement /ownership. This stance is more emphasised by the wives as they yell at nux that they are no more than breeders and battle fodder for an old man.
