Helium Gas Lab
The mechanism that allows us to compute temperature values for pressure readings associated
with a Helium filled glass bulb is based on how system properties are linked together. The purpose
of using Helium gas is because Helium can remain in its gas state when surrounded by boiling
liquid Nitrogen. The goal is to determine the temperatureof a gasbased on the pressurereadings of
that gas, so in order to determine a working equation, the ideal gas law will be modified to
represent temperature.
T = P(V/nR) (1) There is a problem with using this equation due to the fact that we are not using
an ideal gas. We are using Helium, so adjustments must be made to the ideal gas law in order for
proper calculations to be computed. A route to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This issue can be fixed by introducing the coefficient of linear thermal expansion of the glass bulb.
In addition to the coefficient, we will multiply that value by three in order to satisfy the coefficient
of volume expansion. A constant temperature will be assumed, so we will multiply the coefficient
of volume expansion by t.
(pVo/RT)(1+(pv/prV)+3О±t) = n. This equation still embraces how ideal gases interact within
different temperatures, so the second virial coefficient is introduced. The second virial coefficient
alters the equation by representing the imperfections associated with non ideal gases. The second
virial coefficient is also multiplied by (po/RTo) in order to relate the pressures of different
environments to the pressure of the bulb submerged in an ice bath.
(pVo/RT)(1+(pv/prV)+3О±t (po/RTo)(B)) = n

Shooting An Elephant By George Orwell
Shooting an Elephant The short story Shooting an Elephant by George Orwell describes Orwell
s experience as a police officer of a town in the British colony of Burma. George Orwell, a
military occupier in the Burmese land is much hated by the civilians. The hatred he receives from
the locals makes him despise the British Empires mistreatment on the Burmese people. However,
he also resents the locals in the village for revolting against him, for he is only a worker of the
British Empire. Shooting an Elephant by George Orwelldiscusses the author s views and experience
on peer pressure through the structure, quality, and applicability of the information shared. The
incident that took place was when a domesticated elephant escaped from its chains, and was
causing harm to the villagers and their property. The mahout a caretaker of the elephant went
searching towards a different route which happened to be 12 hours away; the only solution in
stopping this berserk elephant was by shooting it. George Orwell, the police officer who works in
Moulmein, Burmawas conflicted upon shooting or not shooting at the elephant. Orwell felt
pressured by the villagers when confronting the elephant. As he walked towards the field, a large
sum of the village was following close by. The villagers felt a wave of excitement as they saw the
gun in Orwell s hand; to witness the killing of the elephant was seen as a joyous celebration in their
eyes. The villager s excitement in witnessing the

Labeling And Deviance Essay
Labeling and Deviance At its core, deviance is a label. Deviance, the breaking of social norms, is
by definition socially constructed. Social norms exist only if society as a whole agrees to
behave as if they do; as a corollary, deviance exists only if these norms are believed firmly
enough to punish a breach. As shown in Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia: The Development of
Deviant Identities, On Being Sane in Insane Places, and The Labeling Hype: Coming of Age in
the Era of Mass Incarceration, the labels assigned to those who exhibit deviant behavior only
reinforce deviance, leading to the development of a master status around the deviant behavior. The
article Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia suggests that even positive labeling can affect deviance, a
unique assertion among the three readings. Most pre anorexics and bulimics display notable
conventionality as model children and felt that perfect or near perfect grades were expected of
them (McLorg... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nevertheless, the label becomes a self fulfilling prophecy and master status through interactions
with others (Rosenhan 204). It is clear in Rosenhan s experiment that even for the supposedly sane
pseudopatients, behaviors could be perceived as abnormal or deviant. Rosenhan explains this
succinctly as once a person is designated as abnormal, all of his other behaviors and characteristics
are colored by that label (202). This is, essentially, the definition of a master status: one status that
outweighs all others (class lecture, #9). This status is absorbed, and the roles are taken on:
eventually, the patient himself accepts the diagnosis, with all of its surplus meanings and
expectations, and behaves accordingly, and so the patient takes on secondary deviance (Rosenhan

Derivative Is A Complex Subject Of Calculus
Derivative is a complex subject of calculus. In calculus, derivative is a key term developed by both
Newton and Leibniz. With function f (t), the first derivative is defined asf^ (t)= df/dt=
lim┬(h→0)⁡〖(f(t) f(t h))/h〗. There is also a second derivative known as second order
derivative. The second order derivativeis defined: f^ (t)= (d^2 f)/(dt^2 )= lim┬(h→0)⁡〖(f^
(t) f^ (t h))/hгЂ—
=lim┬(h→0)⁡〖1/h {(f(t) f(t h))/h (f(t h) f(t 2h))/h}〗
=lim┬(h→0)⁡〖(f(t) 2f(t h)+f(t 2h))/h^2 〗
(Podlubny, 1998). The general idea of derivative has been for several times as the topic has been
dropped and brought up again for further research. Over the years, derivative has been defined in
many algorithms and methods, such as methods for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, early mathematicians solved these questions with what later became known as
derivative. Derivative has developed or created the ideas of extrema, tangent, and limit
(Anderson, Katz, and Wilson, 2004). Derivative contributed towards the mathematical world from
an early stage to the development of other rules. Derivative was mentioned early in the 1660 s to
develop new methods and rules. Many of the methods known today and that have been developed
over the years all derived because of the use of derivative. Derivative supports the evidence of
many proofs such as extreme, tangent, and limit. Newton and Leibniz both saw derivative in a
different way. Newton and Leibniz both created calculusseparately, as in Newton and Leibniz were
not working together for the creation of calculus. They both created or invented calculus by the
development of derivative. For example, in the first step of creating calculus, Newton and Leibniz
took the idea and concepts of derivative and integral. The general concepts of derivative and integral
came from the methods for finding tangents, extrema, and area. The general concept of derivative
and integral came from the methods of finding other solutions. Another invention they came across
while inventing calculus was the notation to solve the concepts of derivative and

Dinosaur Extinction
The reading states that safeguading of endangered species is unnatural and poses many drawbacks
and provides three reasons of support. However, the professor explains that the extinction of the
species should be prevented whenever possible because it has a bad consequence to the
environment and refutes each of the authors reasons. First, the reading states that the extinctionof the
dinosaur did not result in lasting harm to life on earth. The professor opposes this point by saying
that after the extinction of the dinosaur, a dramatic shift happened on the animals that were

Japan After WWII
In September 1945, Japan had nearly 3 million war dead and the loss of a quarter of the national
wealth. Post war Japanese economic take off was due to a variety of factors that had to do with
American policies towards Japan, the international market, social mobilization, existent industrial
capacities and experience, and government policies and expertise, among other things. The
economic development after WWII had a common purpose shared by business, household and the
government sectors, it was to catch up with North American and European industrial economies.
After the war was over, many of the wartime companies and much of the technology used during
the war were converted to peaceful economic development. Japanese private companies expanded

Spike Lee s Denzel Washington In Malcolm X
What is a movie without characters? More importantly, what is a movie without actors? An actor is
at the heart of the film and is solely responsible for stimulating the audience s emotions. Moreover,
actors allow us to unwind and dream in another world and free us of our daily pain. Once such actor
that transports us to the world permeated by the harsh reality of racism in the mid twentieth century
is Denzel Washingtonin Malcolm Xdirected by Spike Lee and written by Alex Haley. This biopic
brings a spotlight to the events in Malcom X s life that made him into the one of the most notorious
leaders of the African American civil rights movements. Washington dramatizes the key elements
that construct a character such as, voice, personality,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This includes but is not limited to the actor s expressive coherence, consistency, emotional range,
effect on audience, and memorability. When considering expressive coherence in Denzel
Washington s performance, one must look for moments when his actions did not resemble the
character of Malcolm X, which is that of an ambitious leader. In his performance, there is nothing
but a pure sense of drive emanating from Washington s portrayal of Malcom X. That being said,
because Washington is faithful to his illustration of Malcolm X, it can also be said that he plays
to the beat at all times and is consistent. Another key determinant of the actor s performance is
whether if they can show a wide range of emotions. In fact, Washington demonstrates all six basic
types of emotions in this film. He displays anger and disgust when the police officer misuses his
power to mistreat a member of the African America community. Happiness is observed in
Washington when Malcolm journeys to Mecca. One witnesses surprise in Washington when he
discovers that his friends have betrayed him. Fear is observed in Washington s face when the
mobsters threaten him for cheating on a bet. As a conclusion, Washington s performance is not
limited when it comes to displaying emotions. Lastly, one must take into account whether if or not
the actor induced any effects in the audience. For me, I gained a sense of understanding for the
African American struggle to gain a status of social equality. So much so that I was inspired to go
out and vote this year. Washington s part in this movie was also memorable due to his passionate
devotion to playing this psychologically complex

Disadvantages Of Mirrors
DECORATING WITH MIRROS: DO IT THE RIGHT WAY
Mirrors are not usually the things to people pay attention to the most when decorating their rooms.
Not everyone realizes the practical and exciting benefits than mirrors can bring to a space. It is
such a waste if we don t know how to make use of these beautiful, elegant but underrated decorative
items. These are handy tips you should bear in mind when decorating your house with mirrors:
1. Recognizing the benefits that using mirrors can bring

Follow feng shui rules
Feung shui is an ancient Chinese methods of positioning objects to create a harmonious
environment. Feng shui rules can be really useful in creating harmony and comfort.
According to these rules, a good mirror should be clean and clear. It must be in one piece (a
broken mirror is bad luck) and is placed in a suitable height so that you don t have to bend down
or stand on tiptoe. One of the areas that is considered unsuitable for mirror is the bedroom: a mirror
over the headbroad can be acceptable.
It is fine to hang a mirror over the entry ways to welcome your guest or over a fireplace to balance
the energy and reflect the soft, flickering fire.
3. And the Donts
Don t just place them anywhere Mirrors can act as nice decorative items, yes. But they should be
used creatively to enhance a room s appearance or reflect something that is worth our attention. A
big mistake people often make with mirrors is to let them reflect just random, unattractive stuffs or

Though many events do take place in other regions of the city, we only obtain knowledge of them
through hearsay. Euripedes used this tool in theaters for the audience to visualize the actions instead
of cheapening the experience with the few special affects available to them.
Theme Medea had one obvious theme; hell hath no fury like that of a woman s scorn. It is
apparent from the opening statement of the Nurse that Medea is a very heartless towards anyone
who has crossed her. Once Jason s betrayal is exposed to Medea, she immediately starts to thinks of

Characters Medea was born under king Aetees of Colchis as a witch princess. As a youth she met
Jason the Argonaut and fell instantly in love, as was planned by the gods. This drove her to betray
her family and homeland of Colchis by aiding Jason in the retrieval of the Golden Fleece. After this
she was forced to leave with Jason, who she later wed. After many years though, Jason fell for

more devious then many can imagine. She planned to kill her to children and Jason s new found
love. After succeeding in the destruction of Jason s whole point in existence she fled in a dragon

Traumatic Bonding
There is an often argued debate among people throughout the world concerning arranged marriages
versus marrying for love. The argument against arranged marriages is often that the two people
marrying do not love one another, and so they may spend their entire lives in unhappiness.
Unhappiness, though, can come from any relationship, free will or not, and so is the case with
traumatic bonding. How can two people with no reasonable compatibility maintain a relationship
for any amount of time? A study by Hatfield and Rapson (1996) showed that an untold number of
husbands receive physical abuse from their wives...as well as incidences of stalking and cases of
clinical depression and suicide are commonly associated with romantic attraction... (Fisher... Show

Abusers may feel attachment for their victims, and the victims may feel attachment to their abusers.
According to Bowlby s attachment theory, if the victims were abused or made to act as caregivers
as children, they may be more inclined to seek an abusive relationship. I hypothesize that these two
situations are connected. Traumatic bonding victims feel an attachment for their abusers due to
some dysfunction in their childhood relationships with their caregivers, and that relationship brings
about the passive defensive behavior seen within their traumatic relationships. Observational data
on humans support the hypothesis that the neural correlates of attachment are distinct from those
of the sex drive and those of attraction (Fisher 1998). So, the attachment felt within a traumatic
bond is not necessarily driven by attraction or sex drive, meaning that genuine attachment in a
traumatic bond is possible, and though genuine attachment is possible, behaviors of submission
appear to combat the abuse. Though the victim is attached to his or her abuser, behaviors are
enacted to prevent further abuse and make the relationship bearable. I will use previous research in
behavior and neuropsychology to support my

Dehumanization In The Island Of Dr. Moreau
Dehumanization
In the book Civil War Stories the author Ambrose Bierce wrote about fictional war stories based
on his time in the Army. In all of the stories there is usually dehumanization and almost always a
plot twist at the end. In the book The Island of Doctor Moreau there is a mad scientist who lives
on an island trying to create the perfect beast person. Dr. Moreau dehumanizes a lot in this book in
many ways such as performing horrific surgery on animals. Dehumanization is when you treat
someone like they re not a human, making them seem like they re not worthy of human treatment.
That is what the book Civil War Stories and The Island of Dr. Moreau is about and what
dehumanization is. One of the stories in the book Civil War Stories... Show more content on

encountered an animal, it was a rabbit. He got so scared he ran, jumped in between two rocks
and cried himself to sleep. After a few hours passed he woke up and could feel the chills of the
night. He walked to an opening in the area and saw a figure that seemed to be a large animal. He
thought it might be a dog or a pig, maybe even a bear, but he could not name it. They were men,
they were soldiers. They did nothing like humans would do. They crawled, they only used their
knees and not their arms. Some layed motionless, they were dead. Nothing at all about them was
human. He thought they were like his father s slaves that he had ridden before making believe
they were his horses. He got on top of one of the men and immediately the man flung him off.
The man turned and lacked a jaw. His throat was a big red gap with flesh hanging down. The
man shook his fist at the child finally making him run away. Then a fire beyond the belt of the
woods suffused the whole landscape. On the boys way back he realized the fire was burning
down his own home. A woman lay dead in the house her forehead ripped off and her brain stood
out of her temple. In this story it shows dehumanization when the boy rides the soldier like he is an

races, and basically cultures, including socio economic borders and such. He proceeds to explain
that because America is a melting pot full of diversities in cultures, ideas, and lineages, retaining a
universal national identity is not possible. Hernando justifies this statement by offering an example
of a country where he believes a national identity has been established. He says, The Germans have
created a national identity; what do you have there? Germans, people of German descent.
Iago, a nineteen year old Puerto Rican male claims, Socially and economically, I have an American

Introduction . The Formation Of A Nation-State Has Created
Introduction
The formation of a nation state has created binary categories of those who belong (citizens) and
those who do not belong ( aliens ) to the state. Complex socio economic and geopolitical
boundaries including territorial boundaries divide the citizens from aliens , and the state exercises
sovereign power to protect the privileges of the former (Hayter, 2004). On the other hand, forced
displacement is counterproductive to the notion of the state as a selective container (Koser, 2003).
For various reasons, states, policymakers, international bodies, institutions and local governors put
displaced people into categories such as refugees, economic migrants, returnees, Internally
Displaced Persons (IDPs) and others (Reed, 2012). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Evolution of the international refugee protection regime
In the aftermath of the WWII and the beginning of the Cold War tensions, the UNHCR began its
mandate of addressing the issues of refugees as defined by the 1951 Geneva Convention with
thirty three staff and a $30,000 budget (Feller, 2001:131). Reflecting post colonial European
hegemonic structure and ignoring the upheavals of decolonisation in the Third World,
geographic and temporal limitations were embedded within the definition of a refugee. The
convention recognises persons displaced before the first of January 1951 within the European
geographical region (Nygh, 2000 and Loescher et al., 2008). Thus, the mandate of the UNHCR
was apparently limited to the protection of refugees displaced before the drafting of the 1951
Geneva Convention and only within Europe. At this time, because of the strategic aims of the
Cold War period and demand for labour, refugees were welcomed noncitizens in many [European]
countries (Feller, 2001:129). In other words, the refugee regime was designed to provide
geopolitical and economic responses to mass displacement due to Nazism and communism. After
more than a decade and a half of this Eurocentric approach, the geographic and temporal limitations
of the 1951 Geneva Convention were lifted by the 1967 protocol (Betts, 2010). By removing the

Bite Marks Weaknesses
Weaknesses of Bite Mark Analysis The lack of large scale systematic research and data collection
on the correlation between bite marks and dentition limits the degree to which bite marks can be
considered a unique character. By its nature, research concerning bite marks, especially on humans,
are difficult to conduct. Models using animal skinor wax are often used in bitemark research as well
as education. Though these models are a good tool for research, they cannot replace data sourced
from humans. A study has shown that examiners have a lower degree of reliability when
examining bite marks in animal skin versus those in wax (Whittaker, 1975). This decrease in
reliability can easily roll over to the examination of humanbite marks. Research also varies in their
findings: some negating their uniqueness (Bush, Bush, Sheets, 2010), while others support it
(Rawson, Ommen, Kinard, Johnson , Yfanits, 1984). These differing results can be attributed to the
sample size which the researchers used. Forensic odontologists lack sufficient data to conclusively
ascertain the prevalence of specific dental characteristics within a given population and thus have
difficulty providing scientifically proven probabilities of dentition patterns matching. A match is
described as specimens that could not be determined as distinguishable within measurement error
(Saks, Albright, Bohan, Bierer, Bowers, 2016, p. 558). However, it is found that the probability of
having matches

plot. English Renaissance stereotypes of women and men and their various roles and
responsibilities in society are reflected in Shakespeare. What sets Shakespeare apart is the fact
that he also challenges, and at times even breaks down those stereotypes especially in his
comedies. Hamlet may proclaim Frailty thy name is woman , but even the merest of character
analyses of Portia in The Merchant of Venice, or Viola in The Twelfth Night
conclusively proves that
they are anything but. In this paper we begin by examining the prevailing gender... Show more

Other praised virtues included physical features and beauty. Men naturally had more powerful
roles to play both socially as well as politically. In Renaissance society, men were expected to
engage in public affairs, to be talkers, make decisions, and on the whole be far more active
compared to women. They led aggressive, self satisfying, and (supposedly) duty bound lives. Men
controlled the positions of powerful positions ranging from family to the state. Ironically, the
monarch was a female, who was the most powerful person of the land.
GENDER AND THE TWELFTH NIGHT:
Shakespeare s greatness and enduring popularity cannot be attributed to a single or even a small
set of factors. It is undoubtedly the case however that one of Shakespeare s greatest traits has
been to unshackle himself from the limitations of his age. He transcends the stereotypical views
of Renaissance society as he portrays women as more than passive vessels. Women are often
equal to or sometimes even superior in their intelligence wit and vivacity compared to their male
counterparts. Viola, the resourceful and practical female protagonist of The Twelfth Night stands
out in this regard. Once she is shipwrecked and alone she quickly calculates that her position as a
single lady in a foreign land is a very dangerous one. To counteract that she, with the help of the
benevolent captain disguises herself as a man or a eunuch and proceeds to the court of Orsino the
duke of Illyria. There, she

Figure Skating Competition Research
Slide 1
During a figure skating competition, many required elements must be included in the program for
each skater. Depending on what level of competition the skater is in, the techniques and difficulty
increases. A triple axel is one of the most difficult figure skating jumps. The skater needs to jump
from the outside edge of his or her blade, while moving in a forward rotation, rotating three and a
half revolutions in the air, and then landing on the opposite foot which they took off from. A triple
axel is a lot more complicated than performing a single or double axel because it requires an
enormous amount of strength to get high up enough to have time to spin, as well as the ability to
rotate quickly.
A skater must balance the average ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From reducing the angular velocity, the skater won t continue to rotate once they have fallen back
onto the ice. Instead, the skater will continue to glide across the ice. This happens when the skater
moves the position of their arms from being tucked into spreading them out to be able to keep their
movement of inertia, as well as, to balance themselves.
Slide 6
In summary, when landing a triple axel in figure skating, the skater should push off with their foot,
creating a downward force, when driving down and off the ice, torque is being set up to give him or
her an angular impulse to be able to spin in the air. They bring their arms and legs in closely when
in the air, then spread them out, so they don t continue to turn and lose balance when they come
back down to the ice. Finally, it is crucial for figure skaters to create an enormous amount of height
to be able even to attempt the triple

Cardio Nephroprotective Effects of Guava and Olive Leaf Extracts on Doxorubicin Induced
Toxicity in Rats
Abstract
Objective: Doxorubicin (DOX) is an anticancer drug that is known to increase oxidative stress in
several organs. Our objective was to evaluate the possible cardioprotective and nephroprotective
effects of guava leaf extract (GLE) and olive leaf extract (OLE) on DOX induced toxicity in rats.
Methods: Forty adult male albino rats were randomly divided into 4 groups of 10 rats each, as
follows: a normal control group, a DOX group (a single dose of DOX; 30 mg/kg intraperitoneally),
a GLE group (500 mg GLE/kg body weight), and an OLE group (500 mg OLE/kg body weight) for

It has been demonstrated that the regular consumption of fruits and vegetables decreased the risk of
certain malignancies (Tang et al., 2014). Therefore, fruits and vegetable phytochemicals can be
considered as promising chemopreventive agents.
Despite Doxorubicin is the of drug of choice for cancer treatment because of its efficacy but it has
many acute and chronic side effects some of which are irreversible especially in the heart. Our aim
in the present study was to decrease these side effects in cancer patients using dietary antioxidants
and natural products.(3 7)

The Threat Of The Islamic State
In recent years, ISIS has been breaking out everywhere instilling fear into people all around the
world. In recent events, they attacked Brussels, Istanbul and Paris killing a large amount of
people. The major thing that we have to remember is to not fear the Islamic State. They only
way we can defeat them is if we show no fear of them. Is it said to believe that many people like
the Iraqi government s discriminatory policies against Sunnis, Bashar al Assad s suppression of
secular Syrian protesters, President Bush s invasion of Iraqand the US War on Terror, President
Obama s lack of leadership and the early US withdrawal from Iraq, the Iran Arab rivalry in the
region, and even the Israeli Palestinian conflict are the reason that the Islamic State has risen
against the rest of the world. All of the groups listed above could be the cause of all this, but
researchers have not effectively found the main cause for all of this. In the next pages of this
research, I m going to look further into the cause of ISIS, researching different contributing
factors and actors involved in all of this. The Islamic State is a growing problem for everyone all
around the world. This terrorist group has been growing as the years go on. The U.S. Code of
Federal Regulations defines terrorismas the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or
property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in

Is Mayella Ewell Powerful Or Powerful Analysis
Is Mayella ewell powerful? That is the question that is asked and must be answered.Throughout
the story To kill a mockingbird Mayella shows some glimpses of power but not enough to say
she is powerful. For example in the beginning she shows that she can not even control her home
life so how can she be powerful. Also she shows that she is just too poor for her to have power. Now
in the next three paragraphs I will explain my thinking on why I believe Mayella is not powerful.
In the first paragraph I will explain why and how I believe Mayella Ewell is not powerful, with the
use of class.First off I would like to show you one of my biggest reasons for believing Mayella is
not powerful Maycombs Ewells lived behind the town garbage dump in what used to be a negro
cabin .(DBQ:Is mayella Ewell powerful?13)The second reason I believe Mayella Ewell is not
powerful while using class for my examples is that longs as he keeps on callin me ma am and sayin
miss Mayella.I don t hafta take his sass, I ain t called upon to take it (DBQ: Is Mayella Ewell

tell by the way she is not used to being called ma am and miss Mayella.Next I will show how much
of a lower class the Ewells are in Mayella Ewell must have the loneliest person in the world...; white

How Did Empress Wu Change Throughout The Tang Dynasty
In the history of imperial China, The Tang dynasty Empress Wu Zetian occupies a unique place.
She is the only one Empress that ruled a dynasty in China with its thousand years of history. For
almost 50 years she enjoyed the supreme power, first she was in partnership with Tang Gaozong,
a ruler usually considered weak and ineffectual, later as de facto regent for her youngest son and
finally, from 690 to 705 A.D., as China s sole female emperor. Her rise from the obscurity of
Tang Taizong s harem was dramatic and her pursuit of power was ruthless. Her political policies
were controversial and her lifestyle flamboyant. Empress Wu also known as Wu Zhao was born in

The Theme Of Happiness In Dandelion Wine By Ray Bradbury
Happiness is something that people all over the world strive for each day; it is even some s
ultimate goal in life. There are many different philosophies on how to achieve and maintain
happiness, but no two people are precisely alike on their journey. Nonetheless, there is one
reiterating theme found, everybody has been given a chance at happiness. Life has never denied
anyone of at least a glimpse of the feeling. Although there will be darkness in life, happiness is
perpetually found down the road. Ray Bradburydisplays this idea in his novel Dandelion Wine. The
main character, Doug Spaulding, has many instances during his summer that supports this theme.
Through the loss, change, and pain Doug both experiences and views, he can always find
happiness around him and in the life he lives.
Doug experiences many instances of loss during his summer. Between the moving of his best
friend to the death of his great grandmother, Doug s life becomes very different than it was
before the summer began. These events may cause one to believe that Doug is unhappy with his
life, however it is very much the opposite. By the end of summer, Doug is very optimistic about
the next summer, saying next year s going to be even bigger, days will be brighter, nights longer
and darker (Bradbury 235). Though the very small world of his has been flipped upside down
within a few months, Doug is still happy and knows that things are only going to get better from
here. One specific instance of Doug overcoming loss is when his best friend, John Huff, moves
away. After Doug sees John for the last time, Doug blows up in a fit of rage screaming You,
John! John, you re my enemy, you hear? You re no friend of mine! (Bradbury 111). This loss
was very hard on Doug because he is very young, twelve years old, and hasn t had to deal with
anything like this. After calming down, Doug moves on and is able to find joy in life in things
such as going to the local ravine, writing revelations in his journal, and spending time with family.
He becomes content with life once again.
Change is another prevalent item in Doug s summer that some might believe could hinder his
happiness. Many parts of his life that have always been there change over this

Essay about Equality vs. Athletics
Equality vs. Athletics
In 1929, the 19th Amendment gave women the right to vote. This was a breakthrough for America
and an enormous step towards equal opportunities for women everywhere. Being given the right to
vote created a sense of long awaited and greatly deserved equality with men. Even though women
were given the right to vote, over 70 years ago, the government still has to make a law to ensure
that equal treatment is given. Title IX was instated in 1972 to provide women with the same athletic
opportunities as men in universities across the United States. While Title IX has helped advance
female athletics, there are arguments that it has discriminated against male athletics. Attorney Curt
Levey makes a drastically bias ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fewer than 30,000 females participated in intercollegiate athletics due to lack of opportunities
provided by colleges. After Title IX was established, women who participated in athletics had an
increased chance for opportunities. Since Title IX was introduced in 1972 female athletic
participation has increased more than 403% since 1971. By 2001 2.8 million females participated
in athletics, which makes up 43% of college varsity athletics. These numbers show an obvious
increase in female athletics and prove that Title IX has helped in the advancement of women s
equality (Title IX at Thirty: Report Card on Gender Equity 14 16).
Levey s main argument with Title IX was based on the negative effect of the proportionality rule.
His argument states that in order to comply with the proportionality rule, upper level schools have
to comply with cutting male athletics (Levey 626). However, it has been stated that male athletics,
at both high school and college levels, are continually increasing with the rate of female athletics.

Tule Lake National Wildlife Refuge
The wildlife refuge complex in the Klamath River Basin is part of a migratory bird wetland
habitat system that spans the western seaboard. Wilson (2010) refers to the Pacific Coast
wetland habitats as being like links in a chain that lead birds from wintering grounds to summer
breeding habitats, which are only effective if each one remains intact(p. 7). It is estimated that
three quarters of the birds traveling through this chain make a stop in the Klamath Basin, and
roughly half of those can be found at Tule Lake National Wildlife Refuge in northern California
(Foster 2008 ;Wilson 2010 ). Tule Lake National Wildlife Refuge and it s neighbor Lower Klamath
National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) also serve as sources of farmland for local farmers, who are able
to lease lands under the Kuchel Act of 1964 (Kuchel Act 1964). If there is water left over from
irrigating farmland, it is allocated to remain on the refuges to provide wetland habitat for birds.
Water scarcity has posed a serious threat to birds that use the refuges. In 2012, avian cholera
killed more than 10,00 birds in the Klamath refuges, a result of overcrowding in scarce pools of
water. In 2014 an average of 100 infected bird carcasses were discovered a day during the summer

Three stages are faced by most school aged children. Stage three, initiative vs. guilt, is for
preschoolers. If they are given freedom to imagine, be responsible, take decisions, to plan, then
tendency toward initiative will be encouraged. However, if children are always restricted and
not shown any appreciation for their ideas or decisions, they will feel guilty about acting on
their own. The fourth stage, industry vs. inferiority, is for students of elementary and middle
school. Children are encouraged to do things well and finish tasks. They are praised for their
achievements and they develop self confidence and industry. But, children who fail to achieve or
who are constantly criticized will be left with the feeling of inferiority. Identity vs. role
confusion is the fifth stage faced by adolescence, from 12 18 years. In this stage, adolescents seek
their true selves and identity through exploration of different behaviors, values, and beliefs. If
adolescent succeeds, identity develops and if they don t, it results into role confusion. When an
adolescent is challenged by role confusion, Erikson said, that adolescent is suffering from an
identity crisis. Understanding sense of self is important in this stage of the theory in order to find
success in next stages. If an adolescent gets stuck at this stage, he or she will be unable to

Fried Green Tomatoes Quotes
Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation,
conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. This famous
line, by Abraham Lincoln, highlights the fact that everyone is of equal value. On the other end of
the spectrum is the idea of discrimination. Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop CafГ© was
written by Fannie Flagg, a well known American author. This novel takes place in the Deep South
and switches back and forth between the 1980s and the early 20th century, when discrimination
was rampant. Discrimination has two main definitions. Firstly it is defined as the ability to
recognize the difference between things that are of good quality and those that are not (Webster).
A second definition is the practice of unfairly treating a person or group of people differently from
other people or groups of people (Webster). The latter... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Free trade, GATT, the WTO, and the Doha Development Round 1. Introduction Free trade
agreements create a free flow of goods, services, investment and people. The Doha Development

objective of the Doha round was to provide opportunities to developing countries into the world

Google s People Management Division On The Topic Essay
Executive Summary
This case discusses the research, implementation, and review of Google s people management
division on the topic Do Managers Matter? Starting as soon as the early 2000 s but coming to full
steam in 2009, Google s people analytics group initiated a research project, deemed Project Oxygen,
to investigate if and how management style would potentially affect employees. Through lengthy
data collection, Project Oxygen members discovered that a certain eight management characteristics
resulted in a noticeably larger gain in efficiency and overall happiness of subordinates. Google s
internal reviews proved exceptionally important, as the culture instilled through the founders is
inherently different than other large corporations, as is the relatively flat organization structure. By
taking the previously stated eight characteristics, implementing feedback surveys, and providing
courses for low scoring areas, Project Oxygen members were able to cultivate improvements in each
manager s ability, not only in their Mountain View headquarters, but globally. These improvements
were not without hesitations. Nevertheless, the results and implementation of Project Oxygen
resulted in drastic increases in the overall management rating. Google was not only able to
determine how managers do matter, but were able to develop managers beyond their current
performance. This success of Project Oxygen inevitably prompts the question of what other projects
can cultivate improvements

What Is The Difference Between Congress And Us Elections
The legislature in the U.S. and the U.K. differ in some pretty important ways. First, in regards to
Parliament, the entire legislature is dissolved at least once every five years, and new elections
are held for every seat. In the United States, Representatives and Senators are elected based on
term lengths instead. Second, in the UK, the House of Commons is mostly the only house in
Parliament that gets elected directly by the people. This is different from Congress because, in the
US, both the House and the Senate are elected. The Legislative process itself also differs markedly
between Congress and Parliament. In the U.S, legislation must pass in the same form through both
houses of Congress before it can be sent to the President s desk. Either... Show more content on

This is probably due to the fact that the House of Commons is the one that the people show up to
vote for. Currently there are 650 members of the House of Commons (). Elections for these seats
are held based on something called constituencies. These are based on geographical features,
local government boundaries, land area and population ( Parliamentary Elections 2007, 5). The
average population of a constituency is about 68,500 people ( Parliamentary Elections 2007, 5).
These seats are all vacated at least once every five years, and new elections are held to fill them.
Interestingly, elections in the United Kingdom tend to be a very different type of event than the
elections we are used to here in the states. General election campaigns typically only last about
three weeks ( Parliamentary Elections 2007, 6) The amount of money that parties can spend on
elections is restricted based on the number of candidates it puts up, and currently sits at 19.77
million for a party that contests all the seats in the House of Commons ( Parliamentary Elections
2007, 6). Paid political advertising on both radio and television is not allowed, and television
coverage of elections is required to be impartial ( Parliamentary Elections 2007, 6). This is a vastly
different political atmosphere than the one we are used to in the United States, where elections are
huge events that result in the spending of billions of dollars in a particular election cycle ( Election,

Natural System And Unique Design Of Permaculture
Natural System Unique Design of Permaculture Sustainability is the idea that creat[ing] and

sustainability is an important part of our world today. We are making an effort to move towards

What Is Edward Son s Personality
Edward son of Henry the III, King of England, born on 1239 of June would soon come to inherit
a grand kingdom that could very well change much of Europe. Edwards father, Henry the III,
was married to Edwards s mother, Eleanor of Provence, and during this time period it was very
much uncertain if Edward the newly born son could live up to his father s expectations. While
Edward grew up, just as any young man, his lust for power grew, which made him a boy of
reckless decisions. Henry the III was not very satisfied with his son s rebellious attitude. In fact,
Edward would come to be friends with a man named Simon de Montfort, who was the husband
of another Eleanor, which was Henry the III s sister. England was in grave danger as Edwards
hunger for power was driving him to irresponsible excesses and creating scandal in the country at
large. While Edward was running around causing trouble, the council of England removed much
of Henry the III s executive power, and at last the king was no longer, but a showcase. Henry the
III had been ruling carelessly and this in fact damaged Edwards image and inheritance, so
Edward did what was probably not expected from his father. Edward soon joined forces with
Simon de Montfort who was leading a rebellion against King Henry and was very successful in
attracting men of England to topple Henrys reign. As Edward became more socialized with this

Stereotypes Are A Useful Way To Classify People
Stereotyping is always a useful way to make decisions about people
Stereotypes are a way to classify people who make up society. We organize people in different
social groups. But, do these beliefs correspond to reality?
Firstly, one of the advantages of stereotypes is that they can help us understand the behaviour of
other people, which we considerer distinct to our group. For instance, if you know some hippie and
think that he lives in a free way and looks inelegant, these factors are part of their essence and are
what is expected of them. Although, they do not agree with that part of the hippy community, they
must represent the values of the community or movement to which they belong. In addition,
another positive aspect is if you are a refined and well mannered person, you may feel attracted to
other people with different stereotypes to yours, such as hippies. ... Show more content on

The machine is very handy and lightweight, making it portable for any drilling operations. Simply

The Negative Effects Of Alcohol On The Human Body
Effects of Alcohol on the Human Body
Many teenagers and adults drink alcohol. Often drinking makes a person feel relaxed, confident,
happy and sociable. However, would these good feelings be enough, if that person knew the
negative effects alcohol has on the human body? Alcohol has immediate negative effects, but also
causes long term damage, and can even cause cancer. I believe if everyone had a better
understanding of what alcohol does to the human body, there might be a decrease in alcohol
consumption. It is important to understand the biology behind how the body digests alcohol; the
physical impairments caused by alcohol; the possible consequences of those impairments; and the
long term damage that alcohol can do to the body. When the body digests alcohol, there are
effects on almost every tissue and organ in the body. According to www.quitalcohol.com, when
alcohol is consumed, about one third of it absorbs immediately into the blood through the stomach
lining. The remainder absorbs more slowly into the blood, through the small intestine. Once in the
bloodstream, alcohol diffuses into almost every biological tissue in the body. Consuming alcohol
causes the blood alcohol level to increase. The speed that a person s blood alcohol level increases
and the effect it has depends on a lot of factors, including weight, age, gender, body composition,
general health and the presence of other drugs or medications. Regardless, any amount of alcohol in
the body will have

Biography Of Martin Luther King s Black Power

Chapter 24 Epilogue pp. 341 348
Many people had imperceptible answers to the questions like, what did it all mean in the end and
what were the accomplishments? Stokely Carmichael wrote a book called Black Power and in it
he wrote about how black people in that time did not accept segregation. Martin Luther King also
made important points in his speeches about segregation and how during this time black people
decided to make a change. The movement in the Alabama Black Belt lasted the longest and many
people do not acknowledge that fact. Even after all the protests started to fade away from the
headlines, black people in Alabama continued to protest for freedom. Many black citizens in
Alabama began to realize that there were other white people in Alabama who also wanted to end
segregation. In Lowndes County, Alabama, there was a rich man who owned thousands of acres
of land, named Harrell Hammonds. Hammonds was a probate judge who raised cattle and grew
cotton on his farm. Hammonds was also an aristocratic politician. Many people noticed
Hammonds as being against segregation. Hammonds argued in a court of law that everyone
should be treated equally no matter the color of their skin. Later in his life, Hammonds also gave
his support for black people to be able to get an equal education as white people.
There was an unhappy ending to Hammonds support to end segregation. Many people threatened
his life and

Matt Ridley s The Red Queen
In the book, The Red Queen, the author Matt Ridley claims that men find women s ratio of waist
width to hip width attractive (Ridley 292). It was observed by Physiologist Dev Singh who argued
that a man will find a woman extremely attractive as long as her waist is much thinner than her
hips (Ridley 292). In addition, this ratio is also hints if a womanis childbirth potential (Ridley 292).
Throughout human time, this waist to hip ratio theory has changed on what is preferable (Bovet
and Raymond 1). However, this sexual attraction is still a trait that influences men s mate
preference (Bovet and Raymond 1). I also found that a woman s waist to hip ration also provides
information about a woman s age, and health (Bovet and Raymond 1). Overall,

First Emperor Of China Essay
Although he did wonderful things while he was alive, the first emperor of China was not a
wonderful person. This is because of his greed, the large amount of people he executed, and his
failed attempts to live forever. But who was the first emperor of China? What kind of things did he
accomplish? And why do so many insist that he was a bad person?
The answer lies in the Period of Warring States. Before China was unified, it was a land composed
of seven independent states, they were kind of like countries. Those states were always at war for
superiority. In Chinese culture, this is known as the Period of Warring States (First Emperor of
China). In the midst of the Period of Warring States, a young merchant, Lu Buwei, was in need of
a favor, so he traveled to the state of Qin, in the North, in seek for the prince. Once he found the
Prince, named Zizhu Zheng, the merchant offered one of his mistresses in return for the favor.
That mistress later became pregnant and gave birth to the future emperor of China in 259 B.C.
Rumor has it that the father wasn t actually the prince, instead it was the merchant that lead his
mother there, but either way, the new baby was now part of the royal family (Law of Shi Huangdi).
The name given to the newborn child was Ying Zheng (Lloyd). When he was ten years old, his
father became the king of Qin, and by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Severe punishments were given to the smallest of crimes. That s because of Qin Shi Huang Di s
strong belief in legalism. Legalism is a form of philosophy, which main idea is that humans are
creatures that need to be kept in line, in an organized manner, under a leader with a strict rule.
Another strong believer in this philosophy was Han Fei Tzu. He was another Legalist and the tutor
of Shi Huang Di. He wrote, The ruler alone should possess the power, wielding it like lightning or

Saving Normal
What is normal? Normal, like the word love, has no true definition and will differ with every
person you ask. Defined in the dictionary normal is to conform to a particular standard or desired
pattern . I believe most people will say a normal person is one whom is free from defect,
handicap and mental illness. Medicalization is a social process through which a previously
normal human condition whether is be behavioral, physiological or emotional, becomes a medical
problem in need of treatment. For example, not long ago being a shy person, being reserved or
having or showing nervousness or timidity in the company of other people , was common and
something most people experienced at some points in their lives. However, now shyness... Show

This resulted in them asking their doctors, mostly primary care physicians who have little training
in psychology, about a variety of prescription drugs. The doctors, whom are easily influenced by
the young, sales representatives, are given free samples from drug companies which further pushes
the prescribing of expensive medications. Primary care doctors prescribe 80% of psychotropic
drugs and as mentioned prior have little training and/or little interest in psychiatry; in addition they
spend little time actually evaluating symptoms. A majority of these doctors tend to favor pill
solutions and some even build their practice on becoming known for passing out prescriptions for
whatever the patients wants. A consequence of diagnostic inflation leads to an increased cost for
unnecessary drugs and psychiatric treatment.
Americans are now spending billions of dollars on psychiatric medications but according to
Frances We are ignoring the people who have severe psychiatric illness; so that, one third of people
with severe depression see a mental health clinician, two thirds don t. Two thirds of people with
severe depression get no treatment at all. At the same time, we re way over diagnosing people who
have milder problems that would get better on their own. Diagnosis can cause more harm than good
when not really needed. We are over treating those who don t need treatment, while neglecting those
who do.

Not Just On Sunday At The United States Army
Not Just on Sunday
In the many years I have been working; in high school, a soldier in the United States Army,
factory work along side of my father, and in law enforcement, I have experienced many leaders or
bosses who were products of what they were taught or not taught. Those skills they adopted along
the way, they imparted them to lead people. Maybe, in their hearts, these leaders had theological
beliefs and principles they learned and practiced Sunday or their own Sabbath, Remember the
Sabbath day by keeping it holy (Exodus 20:8), but it just seemed to me, on Monday through Friday,
in my work life experience, those theological principals taught on Sunday ended sometime
between the end of Sunday service and the beginning of the work week on Monday. In other
words, scripture (s) that was read and interpreted on Sunday did not collate or merge in their daily
lives, and this led to leadership principles and skills that were without Jesus. It was a division:
Jesus and His mercy on Sunday and a secular ideology on Monday through Friday. I have always
believed those theological principals taught on Sunday, Bible Study, Revivals, or weekly Bible
Schools, etc. was just not extended beyond the church doors to the work environment where
those same individuals who ask for Jesus mercy and love, failed to show mercy and love to the men
and women they led daily. No boss I worked for has ever come to me after I made a mistake and
said: Everyone makes mistakes sometime, From now

Old Navy Undergarment Strategy
A product type that Old Navy will outsource is an undergarment. We will develop both basic and
fashionable undergarments as a new product line, but we will focus more on basic simple
undergarments than sexy lingeries. Old Navy is one of the American largest clothing and
accessories retailers, and so many customers like to shop at Old Navy mostly because of
reasonable prices and simple designs. Of course, Old Navy is targeting all people, various ethnic
groups and ages as a whole family. However, their major customers are working moms at an age
from 25 to 40 (Flinn, 2011). The interesting thing is that there are undergarmentlines for men and

It could hold customers longer in the store and increase more sales. Lin discussed that 27% of
women have decided against buying a particular clothing item simply because they didn t have the
right bra to wear underneath it (Lin, 2012). If Old Navy starts having an undergarment line,
women would get a new nude colored underwear while purchasing a white top. People also could
satisfy to shop everything from apparel, shoes, accessories, bags, and undergarments at one place
for all family members.
Third, Old Navy s competitors already have intimate apparel lines. Kohl s, Target, Ross, and H M
have various products for a family at good prices. In order to not lose current customers by the
competitors and to compete with other retailers, Old Navy also needs to make something that Old
Navy doesn t have yet, which is an undergarment line.
Fourth, comfortable and simple undergarments are the key to grabbing attentions of women who
dislike wearing uncomfortable underwire bras and rather stop wearing bras at all. Old Navy can
make comfortable bras and panties that feel women free. There are seamless, breathable,
lightweight and thin wireless bras. Those who like wearing simple and basic apparels also like

Selecting A Gynecologist
When it comes time to select a new gynecologist, due to a move or a change in insurance, a
woman needs to take time to choose one that will work well for her. There are a variety of items to
contemplate such as location, philosophical compatibility, specialties and whether he or she has any
openings for new patients. Here are the top ten tips to help choose this important medical
practitioner.
Specialties: Gynecologists often have specialties such as infertility, oncology, or obstetrics. If you
are having problems getting pregnant, you ll want a physician who has extensive knowledge in
infertility. If you or a blood relative has had uterine or gynecological cancer, it s a good idea to be
teamed up with a doctor who has expertise in oncology. If you re planning to become pregnant, you
ll want a doctor who includes obstetrics in their practice. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Insurance: You need to make sure that your insurance is accepted by a prospective medical
provider. You don t want to be surprised by a big bill for care that you thought was to be covered by
your health plan.
Philosophy: If you are interested in alternative health remedies and natural care whenever possible,
you ll want to make sure that your prospective doctor shares your philosophies. An initial
consultation would be a great time to discuss this.
Gender: Some women prefer a female doctor while others feel more comfortable with a male.
Think about your own preferences and choose a new gynecologist accordingly.
Location: Think about how far you d be willing to drive for your new physician and narrow down

Description Of The Vehicle Tracking System
Transportation act as important part in our life, the people can be connected from place to place
but it is still complicated to track the vehicle. (Sumit et Ajila,2015)
The first implementation for vehicle tracking system was in the shipping industry because it is a
vital need to know where each vessel was at any given time. These days, however, with different
types of technology growing at a wide space, tracking and display vehicle locations in real time uses
automated vehicle tracking system. (SeokJu et all,2014)
The vehicle tracking system is very useful in tracking and management for fleet. It is the
technology used to determine the location of a vehicle using different methods like GPS and other
navigation systems operating which uses satellites and ground based stations. Modern vehicle
tracking systems use GPS technology to locate and keep monitoring our vehicle anywhere on
earth, but sometimes using different types of automatic vehicle location technology are still
another option. The vehicle tracking system is fixed inside the car and gives location of the car in
real time and the data can even be downloaded in a computer which can be used for making
analysis in future as it can be viewed on electronic maps through internet and software. The device
contains modern hardware and software components that help in tracking and locating vehicles in
both online and offline mode. A tracking system comprises of mainly three parts unit in vehicle,

The Basis for Judicial Reviews
Judicial Review is only available where public powers or duties are being exercised. It is not
available for Private Law decisions. The basis for Judicial Review comes from the Separation of
Powers doctrine, specifically at a Federal level Chapters I, II and III of the Constitution. The
Administrative Decision (Judicial Review) Act 1977 (Cth) was enacted to simply the procedure
for seeking Judicial Review of Commonwealth matters, however not all administrative actions
are covered and the Judiciary Act 1903 (Cth) is still relevant. The State of Victoria has similar
legislation, the Administrative Law Act 1978. Judicial Review will only look at the legality of
the decision, not any fact finding or factual conclusions. Merits review is essentially a fresh look
at the original decision where the reviewer can even consider new evidence. Merits review is
characterised by the capacity for substitution of the decision of the reviewing person or body for
that of the original decision maker Merits Review is only available if an Act provides this right.
Such review can be conducted internally, by the same department who made the decision, or to an
external Tribunal. The Administration Appeals Tribunal Act 1975 (Cth) created the Administrative
Appeal s Tribunal which is the Federal Merits review Tribunal. In Victoria, the Victorian Civil and

The Role Of Chinese Women In The Joy Luck Club
The concept of foot binding was a shocking concept for the role of Chinese women to submit
themselves to torture and represented a unique opportunity to gain the respect and recognition of
the in laws in The Joy Luck Club and The Good Earth who would praise the beautiful tiny feet
even beyond the woman s dowry, as an undeniable proof of capacity and obedience. According to
Tan, there are only two kinds of daughters, those who are obedient and those who follow their own
mind! (142). Foot binding was a significant role for Chinese women and the concept of beauty no
matter the consequences of their pain in the body. The concept of obedience was the role of
Chinese womanthat was focused in The Joy Luck Club, which was how the characters based their
views on. The Chinese mother s desire was for their daughters to follow the obedience concept
and act according to the regulations. For example, one of the mothers complained about not
being able to teach their daughter about the Chinese character, which would help obey her
parents and listen to her mother s mind. Another mother talked about herself and being obedient
as Tan stated, I was an obedient wife; just as they taught me (61). The Chinese mothers in the
Joy Luck Club grew up with an incredibly restrictive idea of what it meant to be a woman. They
realized that there was no good people in this world and only people who wanted to take
advantage of their heart and soul. This belief was also true in The Good Earthas O Lan

  • 2. Helium Gas Lab The mechanism that allows us to compute temperature values for pressure readings associated with a Helium filled glass bulb is based on how system properties are linked together. The purpose of using Helium gas is because Helium can remain in its gas state when surrounded by boiling liquid Nitrogen. The goal is to determine the temperatureof a gasbased on the pressurereadings of that gas, so in order to determine a working equation, the ideal gas law will be modified to represent temperature. T = P(V/nR) (1) There is a problem with using this equation due to the fact that we are not using an ideal gas. We are using Helium, so adjustments must be made to the ideal gas law in order for proper calculations to be computed. A route to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This issue can be fixed by introducing the coefficient of linear thermal expansion of the glass bulb. In addition to the coefficient, we will multiply that value by three in order to satisfy the coefficient of volume expansion. A constant temperature will be assumed, so we will multiply the coefficient of volume expansion by t. (pVo/RT)(1+(pv/prV)+3О±t) = n. This equation still embraces how ideal gases interact within different temperatures, so the second virial coefficient is introduced. The second virial coefficient alters the equation by representing the imperfections associated with non ideal gases. The second virial coefficient is also multiplied by (po/RTo) in order to relate the pressures of different environments to the pressure of the bulb submerged in an ice bath. (pVo/RT)(1+(pv/prV)+3О±t (po/RTo)(B)) = n ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Shooting An Elephant By George Orwell Shooting an Elephant The short story Shooting an Elephant by George Orwell describes Orwell s experience as a police officer of a town in the British colony of Burma. George Orwell, a military occupier in the Burmese land is much hated by the civilians. The hatred he receives from the locals makes him despise the British Empires mistreatment on the Burmese people. However, he also resents the locals in the village for revolting against him, for he is only a worker of the British Empire. Shooting an Elephant by George Orwelldiscusses the author s views and experience on peer pressure through the structure, quality, and applicability of the information shared. The incident that took place was when a domesticated elephant escaped from its chains, and was causing harm to the villagers and their property. The mahout a caretaker of the elephant went searching towards a different route which happened to be 12 hours away; the only solution in stopping this berserk elephant was by shooting it. George Orwell, the police officer who works in Moulmein, Burmawas conflicted upon shooting or not shooting at the elephant. Orwell felt pressured by the villagers when confronting the elephant. As he walked towards the field, a large sum of the village was following close by. The villagers felt a wave of excitement as they saw the gun in Orwell s hand; to witness the killing of the elephant was seen as a joyous celebration in their eyes. The villager s excitement in witnessing the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Labeling And Deviance Essay Labeling and Deviance At its core, deviance is a label. Deviance, the breaking of social norms, is by definition socially constructed. Social norms exist only if society as a whole agrees to behave as if they do; as a corollary, deviance exists only if these norms are believed firmly enough to punish a breach. As shown in Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia: The Development of Deviant Identities, On Being Sane in Insane Places, and The Labeling Hype: Coming of Age in the Era of Mass Incarceration, the labels assigned to those who exhibit deviant behavior only reinforce deviance, leading to the development of a master status around the deviant behavior. The article Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia suggests that even positive labeling can affect deviance, a unique assertion among the three readings. Most pre anorexics and bulimics display notable conventionality as model children and felt that perfect or near perfect grades were expected of them (McLorg... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nevertheless, the label becomes a self fulfilling prophecy and master status through interactions with others (Rosenhan 204). It is clear in Rosenhan s experiment that even for the supposedly sane pseudopatients, behaviors could be perceived as abnormal or deviant. Rosenhan explains this succinctly as once a person is designated as abnormal, all of his other behaviors and characteristics are colored by that label (202). This is, essentially, the definition of a master status: one status that outweighs all others (class lecture, #9). This status is absorbed, and the roles are taken on: eventually, the patient himself accepts the diagnosis, with all of its surplus meanings and expectations, and behaves accordingly, and so the patient takes on secondary deviance (Rosenhan ... • 5. Derivative Is A Complex Subject Of Calculus Derivative is a complex subject of calculus. In calculus, derivative is a key term developed by both Newton and Leibniz. With function f (t), the first derivative is defined asf^ (t)= df/dt= lim┬(hв†’0)вЃЎгЂ–(f(t) f(t h))/hгЂ—. There is also a second derivative known as second order derivative. The second order derivativeis defined: f^ (t)= (d^2 f)/(dt^2 )= lim┬(hв†’0)вЃЎгЂ–(f^ (t) f^ (t h))/hгЂ— =lim┬(hв†’0)вЃЎгЂ–1/h {(f(t) f(t h))/h (f(t h) f(t 2h))/h}гЂ— =lim┬(hв†’0)вЃЎгЂ–(f(t) 2f(t h)+f(t 2h))/h^2 гЂ— (Podlubny, 1998). The general idea of derivative has been for several times as the topic has been dropped and brought up again for further research. Over the years, derivative has been defined in many algorithms and methods, such as methods for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, early mathematicians solved these questions with what later became known as derivative. Derivative has developed or created the ideas of extrema, tangent, and limit (Anderson, Katz, and Wilson, 2004). Derivative contributed towards the mathematical world from an early stage to the development of other rules. Derivative was mentioned early in the 1660 s to develop new methods and rules. Many of the methods known today and that have been developed over the years all derived because of the use of derivative. Derivative supports the evidence of many proofs such as extreme, tangent, and limit. Newton and Leibniz both saw derivative in a different way. Newton and Leibniz both created calculusseparately, as in Newton and Leibniz were not working together for the creation of calculus. They both created or invented calculus by the development of derivative. For example, in the first step of creating calculus, Newton and Leibniz took the idea and concepts of derivative and integral. The general concepts of derivative and integral came from the methods for finding tangents, extrema, and area. The general concept of derivative and integral came from the methods of finding other solutions. Another invention they came across while inventing calculus was the notation to solve the concepts of derivative and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the professor explains that the extinction of the species should be prevented whenever possible because it has a bad consequence to the environment and refutes each of the authors reasons. First, the reading states that the extinctionof the dinosaur did not result in lasting harm to life on earth. Post war Japanese economic take off was due to a variety of factors that had to do with American policies towards Japan, the international market, social mobilization, existent industrial capacities and experience, and government policies and expertise, among other things. The economic development after WWII had a common purpose shared by business, household and the government sectors, it was to catch up with North American and European industrial economies. • 8. Spike Lee s Denzel Washington In Malcolm X What is a movie without characters? More importantly, what is a movie without actors? An actor is at the heart of the film and is solely responsible for stimulating the audience s emotions. Moreover, actors allow us to unwind and dream in another world and free us of our daily pain. Once such actor that transports us to the world permeated by the harsh reality of racism in the mid twentieth century is Denzel Washingtonin Malcolm Xdirected by Spike Lee and written by Alex Haley. This biopic brings a spotlight to the events in Malcom X s life that made him into the one of the most notorious leaders of the African American civil rights movements. Washington dramatizes the key elements that construct a character such as, voice, personality,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This includes but is not limited to the actor s expressive coherence, consistency, emotional range, effect on audience, and memorability. When considering expressive coherence in Denzel Washington s performance, one must look for moments when his actions did not resemble the character of Malcolm X, which is that of an ambitious leader. In his performance, there is nothing but a pure sense of drive emanating from Washington s portrayal of Malcom X. That being said, because Washington is faithful to his illustration of Malcolm X, it can also be said that he plays to the beat at all times and is consistent. Another key determinant of the actor s performance is whether if they can show a wide range of emotions. In fact, Washington demonstrates all six basic types of emotions in this film. He displays anger and disgust when the police officer misuses his power to mistreat a member of the African America community. Happiness is observed in Washington when Malcolm journeys to Mecca. One witnesses surprise in Washington when he discovers that his friends have betrayed him. Fear is observed in Washington s face when the mobsters threaten him for cheating on a bet. As a conclusion, Washington s performance is not limited when it comes to displaying emotions. Lastly, one must take into account whether if or not the actor induced any effects in the audience. For me, I gained a sense of understanding for the African American struggle to gain a status of social equality. So much so that I was inspired to go out and vote this year. Washington s part in this movie was also memorable due to his passionate devotion to playing this psychologically complex ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the areas that is considered unsuitable for mirror is the bedroom: a mirror over the headbroad can be acceptable. No two cultures are exactly alike they all differ from one another, for example the Nacirema present such an unusual aspect that it seems desirable to describe them as an example of the extremes to which human behavior can go. Euripedes used this tool in theaters for the audience to visualize the actions instead of cheapening the experience with the few special affects available to them. Once Jason s betrayal is exposed to Medea, she immediately starts to thinks of in a murderous mentality toward Jason. She goes through any means necessary to hurt Jason. According to Bowlby s attachment theory, if the victims were abused or made to act as caregivers as children, they may be more inclined to seek an abusive relationship. I hypothesize that these two situations are connected. Traumatic bonding victims feel an attachment for their abusers due to some dysfunction in their childhood relationships with their caregivers, and that relationship brings about the passive defensive behavior seen within their traumatic relationships. Observational data on humans support the hypothesis that the neural correlates of attachment are distinct from those of the sex drive and those of attraction (Fisher 1998). So, the attachment felt within a traumatic bond is not necessarily driven by attraction or sex drive, meaning that genuine attachment in a traumatic bond is possible, and though genuine attachment is possible, behaviors of submission appear to combat the abuse. Though the victim is attached to his or her abuser, behaviors are enacted to prevent further abuse and make the relationship bearable. In all of the stories there is usually dehumanization and almost always a plot twist at the end. In the book The Island of Doctor Moreau there is a mad scientist who lives on an island trying to create the perfect beast person. Dr. Moreau dehumanizes a lot in this book in many ways such as performing horrific surgery on animals. Dehumanization is when you treat someone like they re not a human, making them seem like they re not worthy of human treatment. After a few hours passed he woke up and could feel the chills of the night. He walked to an opening in the area and saw a figure that seemed to be a large animal. He thought it might be a dog or a pig, maybe even a bear, but he could not name it. They were men, they were soldiers. They did nothing like humans would do. They crawled, they only used their knees and not their arms. Some layed motionless, they were dead. Nothing at all about them was human. He thought they were like his father s slaves that he had ridden before making believe they were his horses. He got on top of one of the men and immediately the man flung him off. The man turned and lacked a jaw. His throat was a big red gap with flesh hanging down. The man shook his fist at the child finally making him run away. Then a fire beyond the belt of the woods suffused the whole landscape. On the boys way back he realized the fire was burning down his own home. A woman lay dead in the house her forehead ripped off and her brain stood out of her temple. In this story it shows dehumanization when the boy rides the soldier like he is an animal. That ... • 17. Introduction . The Formation Of A Nation-State Has Created Introduction The formation of a nation state has created binary categories of those who belong (citizens) and those who do not belong ( aliens ) to the state. Complex socio economic and geopolitical boundaries including territorial boundaries divide the citizens from aliens , and the state exercises sovereign power to protect the privileges of the former (Hayter, 2004). On the other hand, forced displacement is counterproductive to the notion of the state as a selective container (Koser, 2003). For various reasons, states, policymakers, international bodies, institutions and local governors put displaced people into categories such as refugees, economic migrants, returnees, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and others (Reed, 2012). ... Evolution of the international refugee protection regime In the aftermath of the WWII and the beginning of the Cold War tensions, the UNHCR began its mandate of addressing the issues of refugees as defined by the 1951 Geneva Convention with thirty three staff and a $30,000 budget (Feller, 2001:131). Reflecting post colonial European hegemonic structure and ignoring the upheavals of decolonisation in the Third World, geographic and temporal limitations were embedded within the definition of a refugee. The convention recognises persons displaced before the first of January 1951 within the European geographical region (Nygh, 2000 and Loescher et al., 2008). Thus, the mandate of the UNHCR was apparently limited to the protection of refugees displaced before the drafting of the 1951 Geneva Convention and only within Europe. At this time, because of the strategic aims of the Cold War period and demand for labour, refugees were welcomed noncitizens in many [European] countries (Feller, 2001:129). • 18. Bite Marks Weaknesses Weaknesses of Bite Mark Analysis The lack of large scale systematic research and data collection on the correlation between bite marks and dentition limits the degree to which bite marks can be considered a unique character. By its nature, research concerning bite marks, especially on humans, are difficult to conduct. Models using animal skinor wax are often used in bitemark research as well as education. Though these models are a good tool for research, they cannot replace data sourced from humans. A study has shown that examiners have a lower degree of reliability when examining bite marks in animal skin versus those in wax (Whittaker, 1975). This decrease in reliability can easily roll over to the examination of humanbite marks. Research also varies in their findings: some negating their uniqueness (Bush, Bush, Sheets, 2010), while others support it (Rawson, Ommen, Kinard, Johnson , Yfanits, 1984). These differing results can be attributed to the sample size which the researchers used. Forensic odontologists lack sufficient data to conclusively ascertain the prevalence of specific dental characteristics within a given population and thus have difficulty providing scientifically proven probabilities of dentition patterns matching. A match is described as specimens that could not be determined as distinguishable within measurement error (Saks, Albright, Bohan, Bierer, Bowers, 2016, p. 558). There are many different philosophies on how to achieve and maintain happiness, but no two people are precisely alike on their journey. Nonetheless, there is one reiterating theme found, everybody has been given a chance at happiness. Life has never denied anyone of at least a glimpse of the feeling. Although there will be darkness in life, happiness is perpetually found down the road. Ray Bradburydisplays this idea in his novel Dandelion Wine. The main character, Doug Spaulding, has many instances during his summer that supports this theme. Through the loss, change, and pain Doug both experiences and views, he can always find happiness around him and in the life he lives. Doug experiences many instances of loss during his summer. Between the moving of his best friend to the death of his great grandmother, Doug s life becomes very different than it was before the summer began. These events may cause one to believe that Doug is unhappy with his life, however it is very much the opposite. By the end of summer, Doug is very optimistic about the next summer, saying next year s going to be even bigger, days will be brighter, nights longer and darker (Bradbury 235). Though the very small world of his has been flipped upside down within a few months, Doug is still happy and knows that things are only going to get better from here. One specific instance of Doug overcoming loss is when his best friend, John Huff, moves away. After Doug sees John for the last time, Doug blows up in a fit of rage screaming You, John! John, you re my enemy, you hear? You re no friend of mine! (Bradbury 111). This loss was very hard on Doug because he is very young, twelve years old, and hasn t had to deal with anything like this. After calming down, Doug moves on and is able to find joy in life in things such as going to the local ravine, writing revelations in his journal, and spending time with family. Wilson (2010) refers to the Pacific Coast wetland habitats as being like links in a chain that lead birds from wintering grounds to summer breeding habitats, which are only effective if each one remains intact(p. 7). It is estimated that three quarters of the birds traveling through this chain make a stop in the Klamath Basin, and roughly half of those can be found at Tule Lake National Wildlife Refuge in northern California (Foster 2008 ;Wilson 2010 ). Tule Lake National Wildlife Refuge and it s neighbor Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) also serve as sources of farmland for local farmers, who are able to lease lands under the Kuchel Act of 1964 (Kuchel Act 1964). Stage three, initiative vs. guilt, is for preschoolers. If they are given freedom to imagine, be responsible, take decisions, to plan, then tendency toward initiative will be encouraged. However, if children are always restricted and not shown any appreciation for their ideas or decisions, they will feel guilty about acting on their own. The fourth stage, industry vs. inferiority, is for students of elementary and middle school. Children are encouraged to do things well and finish tasks. They are praised for their achievements and they develop self confidence and industry. But, children who fail to achieve or who are constantly criticized will be left with the feeling of inferiority. Identity vs. role confusion is the fifth stage faced by adolescence, from 12 18 years. In this stage, adolescents seek their true selves and identity through exploration of different behaviors, values, and beliefs. If adolescent succeeds, identity develops and if they don t, it results into role confusion. When an adolescent is challenged by role confusion, Erikson said, that adolescent is suffering from an identity crisis. Fried Green Tomatoes Quotes Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. This famous line, by Abraham Lincoln, highlights the fact that everyone is of equal value. On the other end of the spectrum is the idea of discrimination. Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop CafГ© was written by Fannie Flagg, a well known American author. This novel takes place in the Deep South and switches back and forth between the 1980s and the early 20th century, when discrimination was rampant. Discrimination has two main definitions. Firstly it is defined as the ability to recognize the difference between things that are of good quality and those that are not (Webster). Introduction Free trade agreements create a free flow of goods, services, investment and people. The Doha Development round was a multilateral trade agreement between the member countries of WTO. The primary objective of the Doha round was to provide opportunities to developing countries into the world trading system; it covered about twenty areas of trade, market access for non agricultural products and some intellectual property issues. Google s People Management Division On The Topic Essay Executive Summary This case discusses the research, implementation, and review of Google s people management division on the topic Do Managers Matter? Starting as soon as the early 2000 s but coming to full steam in 2009, Google s people analytics group initiated a research project, deemed Project Oxygen, to investigate if and how management style would potentially affect employees. Through lengthy data collection, Project Oxygen members discovered that a certain eight management characteristics resulted in a noticeably larger gain in efficiency and overall happiness of subordinates. Google s internal reviews proved exceptionally important, as the culture instilled through the founders is inherently different than other large corporations, as is the relatively flat organization structure. By taking the previously stated eight characteristics, implementing feedback surveys, and providing courses for low scoring areas, Project Oxygen members were able to cultivate improvements in each manager s ability, not only in their Mountain View headquarters, but globally. These improvements were not without hesitations. Nevertheless, the results and implementation of Project Oxygen resulted in drastic increases in the overall management rating. Google was not only able to determine how managers do matter, but were able to develop managers beyond their current performance. This success of Project Oxygen inevitably prompts the question of what other projects can cultivate improvements ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

First, in regards to Parliament, the entire legislature is dissolved at least once every five years, and new elections are held for every seat. In the United States, Representatives and Senators are elected based on term lengths instead. Second, in the UK, the House of Commons is mostly the only house in Parliament that gets elected directly by the people. This is different from Congress because, in the US, both the House and the Senate are elected. The Legislative process itself also differs markedly between Congress and Parliament. The average population of a constituency is about 68,500 people ( Parliamentary Elections 2007, 5). These seats are all vacated at least once every five years, and new elections are held to fill them. Paid political advertising on both radio and television is not allowed, and television coverage of elections is required to be impartial ( Parliamentary Elections 2007, 6). Edwards father, Henry the III, was married to Edwards s mother, Eleanor of Provence, and during this time period it was very much uncertain if Edward the newly born son could live up to his father s expectations. While Edward grew up, just as any young man, his lust for power grew, which made him a boy of reckless decisions. Henry the III was not very satisfied with his son s rebellious attitude. In fact, Edward would come to be friends with a man named Simon de Montfort, who was the husband of another Eleanor, which was Henry the III s sister. England was in grave danger as Edwards hunger for power was driving him to irresponsible excesses and creating scandal in the country at large. While Edward was running around causing trouble, the council of England removed much of Henry the III s executive power, and at last the king was no longer, but a showcase. Henry the III had been ruling carelessly and this in fact damaged Edwards image and inheritance, so Edward did what was probably not expected from his father. For instance, if you know some hippie and think that he lives in a free way and looks inelegant, these factors are part of their essence and are what is expected of them. Although, they do not agree with that part of the hippy community, they must represent the values of the community or movement to which they belong. Often drinking makes a person feel relaxed, confident, happy and sociable. However, would these good feelings be enough, if that person knew the negative effects alcohol has on the human body? Alcohol has immediate negative effects, but also causes long term damage, and can even cause cancer. I believe if everyone had a better understanding of what alcohol does to the human body, there might be a decrease in alcohol consumption. It is important to understand the biology behind how the body digests alcohol; the physical impairments caused by alcohol; the possible consequences of those impairments; and the long term damage that alcohol can do to the body. When the body digests alcohol, there are effects on almost every tissue and organ in the body. According to www.quitalcohol.com, when alcohol is consumed, about one third of it absorbs immediately into the blood through the stomach lining. The remainder absorbs more slowly into the blood, through the small intestine. Once in the bloodstream, alcohol diffuses into almost every biological tissue in the body. Consuming alcohol causes the blood alcohol level to increase. The speed that a person s blood alcohol level increases and the effect it has depends on a lot of factors, including weight, age, gender, body composition, general health and the presence of other drugs or medications. Stokely Carmichael wrote a book called Black Power and in it he wrote about how black people in that time did not accept segregation. The movement in the Alabama Black Belt lasted the longest and many people do not acknowledge that fact.
