Spiral Of Wants Analysis
Spiral of Wantings From a Neuroscience perspective, I learned how neuroscientists have identified
different pleasure centers in the brain relating to wanting or craving and another area relating to
feelings of deeper satisfaction. Drs. Wright wrote about the brain s pleasure centers: Dopamine is
released in our brain when we anticipate and indulge our wants or cravings, while opioids are released
when we meet deeper needs. I was beginning to understand how my short term indulgences such as
chocolate provided dopamine satisfaction, which is not lasting. Yet when I meet deeper yearnings,
such as connecting with a friend and feeling felt, opioids are released. As I learned about the spiral of
wantings, I began to see how I was mistaking my dopamine induced feelings for gratifying
satisfaction. I became more aware of my Yearnings to feel comfort from my own anxiety and sadness.
This is when I quit drinking alcohol on a regular basis. . The buzz was temporary and it was an
illusion of happiness. I began realizing how my escape with alcohol was a mis want and it was having

As I learned more about how Harris viewed verbal and non verbal transactions between people and
the three states, the Parent, the Adult and the Child, I became more conscious of who I was in the
moment and discovered I had a choice of who I wanted to be in the moment. Harris describes the
mental state of the Parent as a collection of tape recordings representing what a child perceived adults
doing and saying. The recording comprises a long list of rules and admonitions that the child was
expected to believe unquestioningly. My parent recordings often reflected what I should or should not
be doing such as: I should be nice and happy, I should be agreeable, I should do what I am

Madness In H. P. Lovecraft s Temple
H.P. Lovecraft s Temple tells the story of how a German crew on a badly damaged ship during World
War Two slowly descends into madness. A combination of odd sightings, fear, illness, and eventually
violence and suicide leave the protagonist, Karl Heinrich, all by himself on a doomed ocean voyage.
By the end of the story, Heinrich senses that he is going mad. He believes to have found the lost city
of Atlantis, and ultimately dies while exploring it. An episode of Star Trek: Voyager titled Bliss deals
with the similar theme of a descent into madness. This science fiction 1990 s television show takes
place in the 24th century of our universe. The starship Voyager has been flung to the other end of the
galaxy, and the show is about their journey ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The crew is terribly afraid of being lost in space forever. When the crew finds an unstable wormhole
that appears to be a direct route back to Earth, they jump at the chance. However, the crew of the
starship has one member who is not from the Alpha Quadrant, where earth and the other crew member
s alien home worlds are located. This crew member, named Seven, is the only one who has no desire
to ever return home, since she never had a home. Therefore, she is the only character not afraid of
being lost in space forever, since she is perfectly content there. Seven analyzes the wormhole with the
ship s sensors. With these sensors, she finds clear evidence that the wormhole is not a wormhole at all,
but rather some sort of elaborate alien deception, trying to lure the crew into their grasp. Despite her
clear evidence that the wormhole is an alien trap, the crew is so afraid of being stuck in space forever
that they enter the wormhole anyway. Their fear of being lost forever in space overcame all of the
rational though that Seven presented them with. Their fear drove them to do the unthinkable. It is not
only in fictional stories where this fear

Ohio Stepping Up Initiative Case Study
COLUMBUS A contingent from Wayne County participated in a conference in Columbus to
demonstrate its commitment to link those from the criminal justice and behavioral health fields to
tackle the problem of jails serving as treatment facilities for those with mental illnesses.
Making the trip to be part of the Stepping Up Summit were Commissioner Ann Obrecht; Executive
Director Judy Wortham Wood of the Mental Health Recovery Board; Capt. James Richards of the
Wayne County Sheriff s Office; Michelle Owney, probation officer with the Municipal Court; and
James Green, a consumer who volunteers at NAMI/MOCA House. Wayne County was one of 23

Former Ohio Supreme Court Justice Evelyn Lundberg Stratton, who will serve as project director of
the Ohio Stepping Up Initiative, said, Ohio has been a leader in establishing mental health and

the criminal justice system for persons with mental illness. ... Our work through the Stepping Up
Initiative will improve public safety, break the cycle of jail for persons with mental illness and
increase their access to treatment.
It s very exciting for Ohio to be one of the first states (along with California and Texas) to be selected
to implement the initiative, said Oney, adding it is well needed. The court systems have been
absorbing mental health cases, and people are ending up in jail and not getting the help they need, she
said.
Wayne County Municipal Court has a specialized docket for offenders with mental health issues. It is

The Feminism Of Harriet Jacobs
Nehemiah Walls
Oct. 29, 2016
Eng.333
The Feminism of Harriet Jacobs Since the early annuls of history minority groups have always faced
opposition for the dominating forcing. As a counter rebuttal movements and uprisings usually
occurred in order to correct and promote better treatment within these oppressed groups. Feminism
served as a mechanism to promote equity amongst gender, sexual, ethnic, and even economic lines.
Notwithstanding, there still looms bigotry and oppression from the heavily dominated ideals of the
elite patriarchy. Harriet Jacobs s personal narrative, Incidents in the Life of Slave Girl unveils the
objectification, exploitation, and feminist perceptions of liberation from the reins of a heavily
dominated white patriarchal society during the 19th century through the experiences of the main
character Linda Brent. How did Jacobs reveal the hardships that slave women faced through the eyes
of Linda Brent? While captive black women faced constant sexual encroachments by their slave
holders, Richard Follett, author of the article, Lives of Living Death : The reproductive lives of slave
women in the cane world of Louisiana stated, despite the enormous burdens that enslavement imposed
on them...bondwomen challenged the misogynist assumptions that underpinned plantation practices
(Follett pg. 290). Notwithstanding Follett s proposal, Jacobs refute his claims of bondwomen
challenging the sexual advancements of their masters. Brent describes a situation

Know extensively the history of the Middle East, from the back of my hand without resource.
One thing that can agree on was that the system in Baathist Iraq was excellent. There was no
corruption being committed by others, due to fear and strictness of Saddam Hussein. The educational
system was excellent, as after completing primary and secondary school, you could head to a well
managed university. Prices were low in a convenient setting, reflecting a strong economy. In fact, the
averaged price for a automobile was equivalent to 1,200 IQD. A grain rice could be bought for less

Anti-Semitism In The 19th Century
Anti Semitism is described as a perception toward Jewish people which discriminated and prejudiced
them as a community. Jewish people as a minority group were discriminated from Christians for ages.
They were asked to abandon their religious formalities, in order to have full rights. Jews were accused
from the Christian church as ignorers of God, being devil people and unwilling community to join the
Christian community. All the claims or lies were considered as accuracy during that time. In this
paper, it will be discussed the importance of Anti Semitism from its origin and its current importance
as a perception which denigrated Jews. Since its origin, Anti Semitism community tried to deny the
emancipation of Jews. Jews were not allowed to own land, work in public offices and free trade

transmitting secret information to Germans. His innocence was proved later but this affair remained as

publications such as Protocols of the Elders of Zion , which were against Jewish community. (Perry,

is the period when also was legalized the racial ideology against Jewish people. With the formation of

The Orectolobus Arctoae
The Orectolobus arctoae or more commonly known as the Arctic Wobbegong, just like every other
reproducing organism on this planet, goes through a process called natural selection. One adaptation
of this particular organism is the ability to camouflage to the sand of the Arctic Ocean with lighter
colored flesh [in comparison to its nimble yet sluggish cousin the Japanese Wobbegong]. The genetic
variations of this adaptation are flesh tones that are the same color of, lighter or darker than the sand
of the Arctic Ocean; which is uniquely lighter than that of the Indo Pacific. The O. arctoae
overproduces its offspring with one every two years. With a gestation period of 1 year and a lifespan
of approximately 50 years, this organism produces 25 pups over its lifetime. The limiting factors in the
environment of the Arctic Ocean that cause this adaptation are the threat of multiple species of large
whales and other predators. In the process of selection, the Wobbegongs whose flesh is closer to the
color of the sand are able to survive and reproduce viable offspring. Another adaptation of the Arctic
Wobbegong is the layer of blubber under the dermis found in many Arctic organisms. The genetic
variations of this adaptation are blubber depths that are thicker or thinner than the approximate 6
inches. The O. arctoae overproduces its offspring with one every two years. With a gestation period of
1 year and a lifespan of approximately 50 years, this organism produces 25 pups over its

The Role of Eve in Paradise Lost
The importance Milton attached to Eve s role in Paradise Lost and in the Garden of Eden is now
recognised and acknowledged. (Green, 1996) Milton s treatment of Adam and Eve s relationship is
complex. Sometimes referring to them in ways that indicate equality, (ibid) sometimes stressing their
separateness as individuals (ibid) and other times they are complementary halves of a whole. (ibid)
Taking on the view that many support; that Milton intended Eve to seem completely inferior to Adam,
we can examine Eves role in the fall. Traditionally, readers and critics have responded to Eves actions
with compassion and concern. (Revard, 1973) Two critics who particularly react this way are Dennis
Burden and Fresdon Bowes. (ibid) A.J.A Waldock has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If Adam had forced Eve to stay with him, he would have Eve s without free choice. This would have
tarnished the liberty of Eden. (ibid) Adam has tried to make clear to Eve what her responsibilities are
and what her place is in the garden. He has also warned her of the dangers in the garden. Eve knows
also of the dangers of Satan by overhearing Raphael talking about them as in a shady nook I stood
behind. (Levi, 1996) Eve is clearly at a disadvantage in encountering Satan in an intellectual debate;
however Milton does lead the reader to question the role of intelligence in the poem. It wasn t the
intellectually able angles the politically astute Beelzebub and the rhetorically expert Belial (Revard,
1973 p.76) who unmasked Satan in Book V. Many feel that Adam is guilty of negligence; however,
others feel that he is merely an ineffective leader. (Revard, 1973) Stella p.Revard goes as far as saying
that God is in fact to blame. Since refusing Eve the permission to leave would break the rules of free
will then God is blameworthy for having left uncompelled the wills of human beings in the first place
and having permitted Satan the opportunity to try them. (Revard, 1973 p.74) Is it only Milton s
portrayal of Eve that is the cause of so much controversy? In examining two different examples of the
portrayal of Eve, the reader can decide if it was Milton who created the controversy surrounding Eve,
or if the

The Primal Place is a book written by Robert Finch about his experiences, thoughts, and feelings
regarding Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The book s 241 pages are divided into 2 large Parts ; Digging In
and Going Out . Within these Parts , there are thirteen chapters. Chapters one through six are
contained in Digging In and chapters seven through thirteen are contained in Going Out . Each chapter
is divided into numerical sections to further organize Finch s thoughts. These various divisions greatly

It is clear that he loves the nature and history of Cape Cod. In the preface, Finch states that Cape Cod
created within him a passion for discovery (Finch X) His style is very expressive; he utilizes long,
descriptive sentences.
Delivery:
Most aspects of the books delivery don t help it or harm it in communicating its message. However,
the front and back covers play a role in the book s message. The image depicted on the front is a
beautiful painting of the dunes and beach of Cape Cod. The fact that it is a painting gives the viewer
the sense that it is old and contains rich history. It also may entice the reader to discover more about
the beautiful location.
Personal Response Overall, I enjoyed The Primal Place by Robert Finch. It was probably the book I
enjoyed the most from our nature writing unit. I think he managed to describe nature well and
thoroughly without dragging on for too long. He also seemed less radical than Dillard, Ehlrich, and
Thoreau, which made him more relatable. Also, the topics of his writing are more varied. He discusses
the ecology and history of Cape Cod and relates them well to the present. I could see lots of Thoreau
influence in the book, mainly in the chapter structure. Both Thoreau and Finch often begin a chapter
with smaller observations and extend them to more profound

Silico Characterization Of The Association Between...
in silico characterisation of the association between rs12670798 and LDL cholesterol Introduction
Complex diseases are caused by multiple genetic and environmental factors working in combination
with each other and thus, it is difficult to characterise the contribution of any one factor to the
disease1. However, the widespread adoption of genome wide association studies (GWAS) has greatly
accelerated the rate at which these factors are discovered and characterised. These studies genotype
individuals with different phenotypes (for example, those who are affected or unaffected by a complex
disease) at hundreds of thousands of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). If a SNP is statistically
more common in one phenotypic group then it is said to be associated with that phenotype2. A GWAS
found a significant association between the SNP rs12670798 and low density lipoprotein (LDL)
cholesterol3. Previous studies have shown that high levels of LDL cholesterol are associated with
increased risk of coronary artery disease (CAD) 4, 5, a leading cause of morbidity and mortality
worldwide6, 7. An increased understanding of the molecular mechanisms which regulate LDL
cholesterol levels will facilitate the discovery and development of novel therapeutics for the treatment
of CAD and thus, the investigation of SNPs which are associated with LDL cholesterol is of upmost
importance4. This report details the in silico characterisation of the association between rs12670798

The Provision Of Health Care Services
English essay 1
Esha K Gogri
Should the provision of health care services in an economy be left to the market or should the state
provide? Discuss with reference to the UK.
Health care services are medical and remedial care or service provided to the population of a nation.
Health care services can be provided by the state or left to privatization to provide. It is crucial for all
to have access to health care services, as it is a basic human right. In the UK, the National Health
Services is a publicly funded health care system. The NHS is financed directly through taxation and so
is freely available to citizens. (http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/thenhs/about/Pages/overview.aspx)
The efficacy of the government provided NHS service is debatable as it can be argued that the
provision of health care services by the market is a better option. Although the market could provide
these services, it can be argued that the state should as it allows wider access, can positively impact
the labour force and increase economic growth and development.
The most convincing justification for government intervention in healthcare services is probably that
affordable, timely and quality healthcare is a basic and crucial human right
(http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs323/en/). Healthcare that is offered by the state aims to
ensure that the majority, if not all, have access to at least the most fundamental healthcare services
irrespective of their affluence. Vulnerable and

The Effect Of Salinity On Growth And Development
Factors affecting gravitropism:
The effect of salinity on gravitropism shown in downward root growth
Background information:
Gravity greatly influences plant growth and development. When plants enters the first stages of
growth, the primary factor that determines the outcome of the plant s survival is gravitropism.
Gravitropism, determines upward shoot growth to secure a correct positioning of the leaves for
efficient photosynthesis and gas exchange. Gravitropism primarily determines the downward growth
of roots. Gravity has an effect on molecules in a seed known as susceptors. In plants the gravity
susceptors, or statoliths, are believed to be dense amyloplasts that collect in specialized cells, or
statocytes. In roots they are located ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The root apical meristems in a plant s root controls new cells elongating and initiating differentiation
into primary tissues and downward growth. Do to the nature of plants, they are completely susceptible
to the environment that they are growing in. Many factors influence plants, salinity is one of the most
prevalent. soils that are affected by salt concentrations are mainly present in dry or semi dry areas and
can arise from natural a process called primary salinity, for example weathering of mineral rocks. In
these dry areas, there is often inadequate rainfall or drainage to move the salt down through the soil so
it can ebb away from plant roots. Another form of salinity in soil is secondary salinity where land is
cleared for shallow growing crop plants and the natural vegetation with deeper penetrating roots is
destroyed. Consequently the underground water table is raised to the new crop plants and salinity is
brought with it. Gravitropism has an important impact on our agriculture. I wanted to investigate how
salinity affects gravitropism because every continent is affected by saline concentration in surface
water and soil, but it is irrigated land where most of the world s crops are grown that is most affected
by saline conditions. Since these saline conditions are occurring where a third of the world s food is
produced the understanding of its effect on gravitropism is crucial to plant growth on earth and makes
plants as efficient as

and most accurate reason they left diaries, and other things to assure they were the first to fly. The
second detail other inventors who had claimed to have flew first have not left any clue of it. And the
last supporting detail of this idea is that other attempts to fly failed. Now let s talk about this in detail.
The diaries the Wright brothers left included all the models they did, their ideas, and some pictures

they carried out them to their airplanes. Now the others inventors that claimed to have flew first but

In using Bono to back up Rose, why is he credible? Bono is Troy s friend of thirty years who admires
his, honesty, capacity for hard work, and his strength (Act 1, Scene 1, 534). He s known Troy nearly
his whole life and knew when Troy had any sense (Act 2, Scene 1, 561) or when Troy ain t got no

qualities where Troy falls short. For instance Bono knew the impact cheating on Rose would have in
Troy s life. He, know what Rose means to you, [Troy]... I don t want to see you mess up (Act 2, Scene

He is still a responsible father who has not abandoned his family. How do each of his family members
view him? Starting with Rose, she would definitely view him as a tragic figure. He was a great
husband to her for years, raising the family right and always making smart decisions. Although
eventually he fell short and ended up as a, womanless man (Act 2, Scene 4, 569) when he cheated on
her with Alberta. If it wasn t for this crucial mistake, he would mean much more to her. Rose wasn t
the only one who lost a lot of respect for Troy because of his actions, Bono and Cory did as well.
Bono hated the fact that Troy cheated on Rose but it is unclear whether their social disconnect was
because of this or because Troy got a promotion. According to the story, Troy said Bono, hadn t
stopped by in months (Act 2, Scene 4, 570). In response Bono said; since you got your promotion I
can t keep up with you. Used to see you every day. Now I don t even know what route you working
(Act 2, Scene 4, 570) . Although it is not directly implied, this leads to the idea that Bono is
intentionally missing Troy at work, because he has lost a lot of respect for him for cheating on Rose.
Bono also views him as a tragic figure because he was once someone he looked up to but completely
changed. Lastly, what does Cory think of his father? Not only does Cory see his father as a tragic

The Treatment Of Cardiac Transplant Surgery
Cardiac transplant is a surgical procedure to replace the patient s diseased heart and replace it with a
healthy heart from a cadaver or lifeless donor. Most of the end stage heart failure patients are
undergoing these heart transplant surgery. Cardiac transplant surgery is performed in critical situation
to save the life of the human being who diagnosed as end stage heart failure. (NHLBI,2012). A Patient

In cardiac transplant, the patient s survival rate is enriched after the surgery absolutely in the first year
of life. The existence rate is increased up to 88% in the first year, 75% for 5years, and 56% for 10

(1929 )
The Crash and The Depression After the crash, production fell nearly 50% from the business cycle
peak in August 1929 to March 1933. Meanwhile, the overall price level of stocks dropped by about
1/3. Many people blamed the crash for the economic collapse. Some people held responsible, fairly or
not, were President Hoover, brokers, bankers, and businesspersons. The cause of the depression
cannot be linked to one individual or even a group of people. It is also unlikely that the crash of the
market would have been large enough to lead the US economy into the depression by itself and to
sustain the downward spiral in business activity. (1929 )
Why People Invested in the Stock Market During 1929, people invested in the stock market for five
major reasons. The first was that the market was considered an easy way to get rich quick. Although
about four million Americans, a small amount, invested in the stock market at one time, the constant
influx of new investors coming in and old investors moving out ensured that new money was always
flowing around. (1929 ) Another reason was the higher wages of the ordinary workers. This meant
that everyone in America had extra money to put into savings or invest in the market. The third reason

Safe Circuits
What is Safe Paper; Purpose: My type of circuit is a circuit that when you open the box that the circuit
it wired to, a light turns on and lights up the inside of the box. I chose to do this type of circuit because
i was having trouble finding smaller objects in the middle of the night when it s dark inside my room.
At the time, we were starting our cricut project, during that time i was still having this problem, so
tried to think of a way to fix the problem and do my science project. Then, after thinking i could fix
the problem that i was having and create my science project a the same time, i created this circuit. I

First of all, I think my circuit interacts with the environment because when you need to get something
early in the morning or in the middle of the night, without this kind of circuit/alarm that helps you see
inside the box, you would need to turn of the lights and waste energy by keeping them on, but with my
kind of circuit/alarm you don t need to waste energy because you don t need to turn on the lights.
Second of all, i think my circuit/alarm relates to culture because its main purpose is to help us see
when we need to get something we need to start your day, which is a part of our culture, or put
something on inside the box to wear, like a watch or any type of jewelry which is also apart of our
culture. Last of all,i think my circuit/alarm interacts with ethics because when you are married and
you are sleeping in the same room as your husband/wife, turning on the lights might wake them up,
and that would seem like a rude thing to do/unethical. With my circuit, you don t need to turn on the
lights and potentially wake up your wife/husband, and the light is not so bright that it would wake up

UHG Performance Management
Mission, Goals, and Performance Management Today, organizations need to have a clear
understanding of where their organization is and where it needs to be in the future to secure longevity
and financial success (Moore, Ellsworth, Kaufman, 2011). Organizations need to have a performance
management system in place to stay competitive. Therefore, having a well developed performance
management process in place allows the employer and employee to communicate goals, share
information, and establish career growth. Performance management needs to contribute to the success
of the organization while providing a positive impact on the employees. Therefore, the mission, goals
and performance management should coincide with one another. UnitedHealth Group (UHG) was
founded in 1977, and based their organization on health maintenance organizations (HMOs). UHG is
considered the most diversified health care organization in the United States. They have the largest
network s of physicians, and health facilities and caregivers in the United States. They operate in all

The Effect of Over Hunting on Blue Whales
The Effect of Over Hunting on Blue Whales
The blue whale is a magnificent creature being the biggest in the world. The blue whale can eat up to
4 tons of krill in one day, and live up to 90 years old. Blue whales can make sounds and tones that
travel up to 1000 miles away. Blue whales are so big and take up so many resources that have to live
in small groups of one or two called pods. The Blue whales habitat ranges between Madagascar and
Antarctica. In 1904 there used to be close to 400,000 blue whales living on earth, but now due to over
hunting people have put the human race in danger along with the blue whale species.
The history of whaling originates all the way back 3000B.C. Whaling is killing whales for meat and
oil. Huge fleets of whalers did not come around until the 1700 s. By the 1930 s 50,000 whales were
being killed annually. From 1904 to 1967 360,000 blue whales were killed, that adds up to about 70%
of their population. Whales produce up to 3 off spring at most in one year so the bounce back from a
huge killing would take many years. The International Whaling Commission was established in 1946,
to help fight commercial whaling.
The IWC came around to help fight whaling, but they had little effect. In 1970 the Convention of
International Trade of Endangered species put a ban on all whaling. Even though there is a ban on
whaling Norway, Iceland, Japan and the USSR still have whaling fleets but under the name of

Indonesian Demographic Transition Essay
Introduction
The effects of population control programs on demographic change were not instant, and it takes long
serious effort to encourage the improvement of economic development in a country. According to Paul

improve its economic and social welfare . Furthermore, this paper intends to explain why the change
of population structure has an effect on the society s economic condition in Indonesia with examining
the demographic variables.

In general, Indonesia has been considered successful to reduce fertility and mortality rates. The total
fertility rate (TFR) in Indonesia decreased significantly from the average of 5.6 children per female in
1971 to 4.6 in 1980, from about 3.3 in 1987 decreased to 3.02 in 1990 and continuously dropped to
2.8 in 1994. From 1997 to 2002, according to Indonesia Demographic and Health survey 2002 (IDHS
2002, 2003), the TFR was 2.7 and declined to 2.6 children per female.

Economic Liberalisation Of India And India
Economic liberalisation in India
India is a country which was and still is diverse in terms of cultures, languages, ethics and beliefs.
During the 1970 1990 when the British rule had just been over in India, it soon started to face
problems in their balance of payments. By the end of 1990, it was in a serious economic crisis. The
government was close to bankruptcy, the central bank of India had refused new credit and foreign
exchange reserves had been depleted to a point where India could barely finance three weeks worth of
imports which made the Indian government airlift the nations gold reserves as a pledge to the
International Monetary Fund (IMF) in exchange for a loan to cover its balance of payment debts.
The main causes of the crisis was 1) currency overvaluation,2) the current account deficit, and the
confidence of investors played a significant role in the sharp exchange rate depreciation/devaluation.
The economic crisis was primarily due to the large and growing fiscal imbalances over 1980 1985...
During 1985 1886, India started to have balance of payments problems. Precipitated by the Gulf War,
India s oil import bill increased, exports decreased, credit dried up, and investors that had invested
their money in India took their money out. Large fiscal deficits, over the time, had a huge spill over
effect on the trade deficit, culminating in an external payments crisis. By the end of the 90 s, India was

A. Access to education is among the basic human rights and everyone should have the same
opportunities. No one should be discriminated against because of their background, religion, gender or
age. Inequality in education is connected to major problems in our society. The Pakistan constitution
has an article called Article 25A. Which is the Right to education. It states that the government of
Pakistan is responsible for providing free and compulsory education. Unfortunately, the government
only goes so far. Low budget and funding for education are main struggles on the way to educational
development and expansion of student s education. Pakistan has the world s second highest number of
children out of school, reaching 8.3 million in 2012 equivalent to 1 in 12 of the world s out of school
children. My group and I have taken up this unresolved issue in hopes that we volunteering will
change the lives of those who are directly impacted. We can t fix the issue by this one act but we can

Essay on MP3 and Music
The Possibilities and Problems of Digital Recording and Distribution
Abstract: This essay deals with the creative possibilities generated by the influx of inexpensive and
easy to use digital recording software, hardware, and digital distribution techniques. One of the main
themes of the essay is the problem of upholding creativity and artistic integrity in an unmediated
digital environment.
What would you say if I told you that I had bought entire paragraphs of this paper online? You would
probably accuse me of plagiarism and disregard the contents of the essay. However, many

However, modern technology has made it possible to package many of the features of large recording
studios into small digital recording consoles, which amateur musicians can afford. The price of one of
these consoles, the Tascam Digital Portastudio 788, at Musiciansfriend.com, is $899.99 [1]. This
console, although seemingly expensive, is much more cost effective than paying for an entire studio,
and can achieve nearly the same results. The real benefit of a digital recording console, however, is the
creative control it bestows upon musicians. Instead of having a producer who dictates how the
recording should sound, the musician becomes the producer, giving him complete control over all
aspects of the composition. Additionally, because of the cost of studio recording, a musician s time in
the studio is usually limited. However, with a personal digital recording console, one can freely
experiment with new ideas without time constraints. While this unmediated recording environment
theoretically provides an artist with unlimited creative flexibility, it also allows for detrimental misuse
in the form of non original composition, which can negate the creative possibilities of this new artistic
process.
The accessibility and simplicity of the unmediated digital recording process enable individuals, who
otherwise would not be involved in music recording, damage the reputation

The Conflict Of The Niger Delta
INTRODUCTION TO THE CONFLICT IN THE NIGER DELTA
Nigeria is the 7th world largest oil producer and is a major player in the world energy market. Oil and
gas is Nigeria s main source of revenue. It accounts for about 40% of the Gross Domestic Product and
70% of government revenues (Lawal 2004). Crude oil was first discovered in 1956 by Shell British
Petroleum in a small village called Oloibiri present day Bayelsa State. Two years later oil in larger
quantities was discovered in Ogoni.
The Niger delta region has a population of 28 million people, a coverage of 70,000 square kilometers
consisting of 606 fields, 5,284 wells, 7,000 kilometers of pipelines, 10 export terminals, 275 flow
stations and a liquefied natural gas sector (Williams 2011). The Niger delta which is Nigeria s oil belt
has been embroiled in conflict and resistance against the government and multinational oil
corporations that extract oil in the region. The Niger delta is highly volatile with insurgent groups
controlling the area. Years of oil exploitation, environmental degradation and neglecting by the states
has created an impoverished, marginalized and exploited region which has produced resistance form
the youth in the Niger delta region. A regime of state repression and corporate violence has further
generated popular criminal violence, lawlessness, illegal appropriations and insecurity (Williams
2011).

Analysis Of Seaworld And San Diego
Summary SeaWorld in San Diego, California recently announced its facility has plans to phase out its
killer whale shows. This decision is what PETA and other oppositions of SeaWorld has been seeking,
but there is no news of ending these shows at their Orlando and San Antonio locations. There is
Federal legislation in the works to ban orca breeding, importing and exporting them for public display.
This legislation is called the Orca Act and is still in its early stages of proposal. Passing of the Orca
Act would most likely be the only way Orlando would stop its killer whale shows.
Stakeholders
Shareholders: SeaWorld s shareholders have seen a steady decline in revenues over the past couple
years, mainly because of the controversy associated with their killer whales shows. Not continuing
these steps in Orlando or San Antonio, will continue to decrease revenue.
Killer Whales: It is not natural for killer whales to perform shows and interact with humans. Stopping
these shows in San Diego will allow them to live more relaxed and more natural.
PETA: This is a small victory for PETA in its efforts against SeaWorld. With this decision, PETA will
continue to push SeaWorld for more animal rights and stoppage of using animals for entertainment.
Employees: Jobs within the San Diego facility with be shifted or cut. The need for animal trainers and
performers will be cut. The face of the company employees at SeaWorld also get asked the most

The Drug Problem Of Addicted With Prescription Drugs
Most researchers believe that addictions are caused by a number of risk factors, working together to
create the addiction that consume and destroy people lives. Most people become addicted with
prescription drugs they are taking; however, there are cases where individuals have used recreational
and prescription drugs without becoming addicts. Once an individual starts using drugs, he/she
becomes physically and emotionally dependent on them. Drug abuse can cause great amount of pain
and suffering depending on each individual and the extent of his or her addiction. The extent of a
person s vulnerability to their addiction depends on their social environment, mental stability, physical
health, and their genes. According to Kellogg Our drug problem is a major problem, which in all
likelihood, stems from poverty, loneliness, shame, dishonesty, rage, family violence, power and greed.
It is a spiritual bankruptcy that eats away at a culture and destroys the core of meaningfulness in
people s lives (Kellogg, 1990, p. xvii). Those who are addicted have rooted all their energy towards
pursuing things that are created; rather than pursuing the Creator. If they have a desire to travel the
road to total recovery, they must first change their mindset to pursue the Creator. All changes in our
lives begins with one simple act, and that is changing our mindset. When those person who are

  • 2. Spiral Of Wants Analysis Spiral of Wantings From a Neuroscience perspective, I learned how neuroscientists have identified different pleasure centers in the brain relating to wanting or craving and another area relating to feelings of deeper satisfaction. Drs. Wright wrote about the brain s pleasure centers: Dopamine is released in our brain when we anticipate and indulge our wants or cravings, while opioids are released when we meet deeper needs. I was beginning to understand how my short term indulgences such as chocolate provided dopamine satisfaction, which is not lasting. Yet when I meet deeper yearnings, such as connecting with a friend and feeling felt, opioids are released. As I learned about the spiral of wantings, I began to see how I was mistaking my dopamine induced feelings for gratifying satisfaction. I became more aware of my Yearnings to feel comfort from my own anxiety and sadness. This is when I quit drinking alcohol on a regular basis. . The buzz was temporary and it was an illusion of happiness. I began realizing how my escape with alcohol was a mis want and it was having negative effects on my ... As I learned more about how Harris viewed verbal and non verbal transactions between people and the three states, the Parent, the Adult and the Child, I became more conscious of who I was in the moment and discovered I had a choice of who I wanted to be in the moment. Harris describes the mental state of the Parent as a collection of tape recordings representing what a child perceived adults doing and saying. The recording comprises a long list of rules and admonitions that the child was expected to believe unquestioningly. My parent recordings often reflected what I should or should not be doing such as: I should be nice and happy, I should be agreeable, I should do what I am ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Madness In H. P. Lovecraft s Temple H.P. Lovecraft s Temple tells the story of how a German crew on a badly damaged ship during World War Two slowly descends into madness. A combination of odd sightings, fear, illness, and eventually violence and suicide leave the protagonist, Karl Heinrich, all by himself on a doomed ocean voyage. By the end of the story, Heinrich senses that he is going mad. He believes to have found the lost city of Atlantis, and ultimately dies while exploring it. An episode of Star Trek: Voyager titled Bliss deals with the similar theme of a descent into madness. This science fiction 1990 s television show takes place in the 24th century of our universe. The starship Voyager has been flung to the other end of the galaxy, and the show is about their journey ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The crew is terribly afraid of being lost in space forever. When the crew finds an unstable wormhole that appears to be a direct route back to Earth, they jump at the chance. However, the crew of the starship has one member who is not from the Alpha Quadrant, where earth and the other crew member s alien home worlds are located. This crew member, named Seven, is the only one who has no desire to ever return home, since she never had a home. Therefore, she is the only character not afraid of being lost in space forever, since she is perfectly content there. Seven analyzes the wormhole with the ship s sensors. With these sensors, she finds clear evidence that the wormhole is not a wormhole at all, but rather some sort of elaborate alien deception, trying to lure the crew into their grasp. Despite her clear evidence that the wormhole is an alien trap, the crew is so afraid of being stuck in space forever that they enter the wormhole anyway. Their fear of being lost forever in space overcame all of the rational though that Seven presented them with. Their fear drove them to do the unthinkable. It is not only in fictional stories where this fear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ohio Stepping Up Initiative Case Study COLUMBUS A contingent from Wayne County participated in a conference in Columbus to demonstrate its commitment to link those from the criminal justice and behavioral health fields to tackle the problem of jails serving as treatment facilities for those with mental illnesses. Making the trip to be part of the Stepping Up Summit were Commissioner Ann Obrecht; Executive Director Judy Wortham Wood of the Mental Health Recovery Board; Capt. James Richards of the Wayne County Sheriff s Office; Michelle Owney, probation officer with the Municipal Court; and James Green, a consumer who volunteers at NAMI/MOCA House. Former Ohio Supreme Court Justice Evelyn Lundberg Stratton, who will serve as project director of the Ohio Stepping Up Initiative, said, Ohio has been a leader in establishing mental health and veterans courts, developing Crisis Intervention Teams in law enforcement and other efforts to reform the criminal justice system for persons with mental illness. ... Our work through the Stepping Up Initiative will improve public safety, break the cycle of jail for persons with mental illness and increase their access to treatment. It s very exciting for Ohio to be one of the first states (along with California and Texas) to be selected to implement the initiative, said Oney, adding it is well needed. The court systems have been absorbing mental health cases, and people are ending up in jail and not getting the help they need, she said. Wayne County Municipal Court has a specialized docket for offenders with mental health issues. It is named the HOPE Court (Helping Offenders Prosper Effectively), and Oney works with Judge Carol White Millhoan on it. The Feminism Of Harriet Jacobs Nehemiah Walls Oct. 29, 2016 Eng.333 The Feminism of Harriet Jacobs Since the early annuls of history minority groups have always faced opposition for the dominating forcing. As a counter rebuttal movements and uprisings usually occurred in order to correct and promote better treatment within these oppressed groups. Feminism served as a mechanism to promote equity amongst gender, sexual, ethnic, and even economic lines. Notwithstanding, there still looms bigotry and oppression from the heavily dominated ideals of the elite patriarchy. Harriet Jacobs s personal narrative, Incidents in the Life of Slave Girl unveils the objectification, exploitation, and feminist perceptions of liberation from the reins of a heavily dominated white patriarchal society during the 19th century through the experiences of the main character Linda Brent. How did Jacobs reveal the hardships that slave women faced through the eyes of Linda Brent? While captive black women faced constant sexual encroachments by their slave holders, Richard Follett, author of the article, Lives of Living Death : The reproductive lives of slave women in the cane world of Louisiana stated, despite the enormous burdens that enslavement imposed on them...bondwomen challenged the misogynist assumptions that underpinned plantation practices (Follett pg. 290). The Orectolobus Arctoae The Orectolobus arctoae or more commonly known as the Arctic Wobbegong, just like every other reproducing organism on this planet, goes through a process called natural selection. One adaptation of this particular organism is the ability to camouflage to the sand of the Arctic Ocean with lighter colored flesh [in comparison to its nimble yet sluggish cousin the Japanese Wobbegong]. The genetic variations of this adaptation are flesh tones that are the same color of, lighter or darker than the sand of the Arctic Ocean; which is uniquely lighter than that of the Indo Pacific. The O. arctoae overproduces its offspring with one every two years. With a gestation period of 1 year and a lifespan of approximately 50 years, this organism produces 25 pups over its lifetime. The limiting factors in the environment of the Arctic Ocean that cause this adaptation are the threat of multiple species of large whales and other predators. In the process of selection, the Wobbegongs whose flesh is closer to the color of the sand are able to survive and reproduce viable offspring. Another adaptation of the Arctic Wobbegong is the layer of blubber under the dermis found in many Arctic organisms. The genetic variations of this adaptation are blubber depths that are thicker or thinner than the approximate 6 inches. The O. arctoae overproduces its offspring with one every two years. Eve knows also of the dangers of Satan by overhearing Raphael talking about them as in a shady nook I stood behind. (Levi, 1996) Eve is clearly at a disadvantage in encountering Satan in an intellectual debate; however Milton does lead the reader to question the role of intelligence in the poem. It wasn t the intellectually able angles the politically astute Beelzebub and the rhetorically expert Belial (Revard, 1973 p.76) who unmasked Satan in Book V. Many feel that Adam is guilty of negligence; however, others feel that he is merely an ineffective leader. (Revard, 1973) Stella p.Revard goes as far as saying that God is in fact to blame. Since refusing Eve the permission to leave would break the rules of free will then God is blameworthy for having left uncompelled the wills of human beings in the first place and having permitted Satan the opportunity to try them. It was probably the book I enjoyed the most from our nature writing unit. I think he managed to describe nature well and thoroughly without dragging on for too long. He also seemed less radical than Dillard, Ehlrich, and Thoreau, which made him more relatable. Also, the topics of his writing are more varied. He discusses the ecology and history of Cape Cod and relates them well to the present. I could see lots of Thoreau influence in the book, mainly in the chapter structure. Silico Characterization Of The Association Between... in silico characterisation of the association between rs12670798 and LDL cholesterol Introduction Complex diseases are caused by multiple genetic and environmental factors working in combination with each other and thus, it is difficult to characterise the contribution of any one factor to the disease1. However, the widespread adoption of genome wide association studies (GWAS) has greatly accelerated the rate at which these factors are discovered and characterised. These studies genotype individuals with different phenotypes (for example, those who are affected or unaffected by a complex disease) at hundreds of thousands of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). If a SNP is statistically more common in one phenotypic group then it is said to be associated with that phenotype2. A GWAS found a significant association between the SNP rs12670798 and low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol3. Previous studies have shown that high levels of LDL cholesterol are associated with increased risk of coronary artery disease (CAD) 4, 5, a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide6, 7. An increased understanding of the molecular mechanisms which regulate LDL cholesterol levels will facilitate the discovery and development of novel therapeutics for the treatment of CAD and thus, the investigation of SNPs which are associated with LDL cholesterol is of upmost importance4. Discuss with reference to the UK. Health care services are medical and remedial care or service provided to the population of a nation. Health care services can be provided by the state or left to privatization to provide. It is crucial for all to have access to health care services, as it is a basic human right. In the UK, the National Health Services is a publicly funded health care system. The NHS is financed directly through taxation and so is freely available to citizens. (http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/thenhs/about/Pages/overview.aspx) The efficacy of the government provided NHS service is debatable as it can be argued that the provision of health care services by the market is a better option. Although the market could provide these services, it can be argued that the state should as it allows wider access, can positively impact the labour force and increase economic growth and development. The most convincing justification for government intervention in healthcare services is probably that affordable, timely and quality healthcare is a basic and crucial human right (http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs323/en/). Gravitropism, determines upward shoot growth to secure a correct positioning of the leaves for efficient photosynthesis and gas exchange. Gravitropism primarily determines the downward growth of roots. Gravity has an effect on molecules in a seed known as susceptors. Many factors influence plants, salinity is one of the most prevalent. soils that are affected by salt concentrations are mainly present in dry or semi dry areas and can arise from natural a process called primary salinity, for example weathering of mineral rocks. In these dry areas, there is often inadequate rainfall or drainage to move the salt down through the soil so it can ebb away from plant roots. Another form of salinity in soil is secondary salinity where land is cleared for shallow growing crop plants and the natural vegetation with deeper penetrating roots is destroyed. Consequently the underground water table is raised to the new crop plants and salinity is brought with it. Gravitropism has an important impact on our agriculture. I wanted to investigate how salinity affects gravitropism because every continent is affected by saline concentration in surface water and soil, but it is irrigated land where most of the world s crops are grown that is most affected by saline conditions. Since these saline conditions are occurring where a third of the world s food is produced the understanding of its effect on gravitropism is crucial to plant growth on earth and makes plants as efficient as ... During the 1970 1990 when the British rule had just been over in India, it soon started to face problems in their balance of payments. By the end of 1990, it was in a serious economic crisis. The government was close to bankruptcy, the central bank of India had refused new credit and foreign exchange reserves had been depleted to a point where India could barely finance three weeks worth of imports which made the Indian government airlift the nations gold reserves as a pledge to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in exchange for a loan to cover its balance of payment debts. The main causes of the crisis was 1) currency overvaluation,2) the current account deficit, and the confidence of investors played a significant role in the sharp exchange rate depreciation/devaluation. The economic crisis was primarily due to the large and growing fiscal imbalances over 1980 1985... During 1985 1886, India started to have balance of payments problems. Essay on MP3 and Music The Possibilities and Problems of Digital Recording and Distribution Abstract: This essay deals with the creative possibilities generated by the influx of inexpensive and easy to use digital recording software, hardware, and digital distribution techniques. One of the main themes of the essay is the problem of upholding creativity and artistic integrity in an unmediated digital environment. What would you say if I told you that I had bought entire paragraphs of this paper online? You would probably accuse me of plagiarism and disregard the contents of the essay. However, many contemporary composers and their listeners consider the practice of buying digital loops of music for use in compositions completely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, modern technology has made it possible to package many of the features of large recording studios into small digital recording consoles, which amateur musicians can afford. The price of one of these consoles, the Tascam Digital Portastudio 788, at Musiciansfriend.com, is $899.99 [1]. This console, although seemingly expensive, is much more cost effective than paying for an entire studio, and can achieve nearly the same results. The real benefit of a digital recording console, however, is the creative control it bestows upon musicians. Instead of having a producer who dictates how the recording should sound, the musician becomes the producer, giving him complete control over all aspects of the composition. Additionally, because of the cost of studio recording, a musician s time in the studio is usually limited. However, with a personal digital recording console, one can freely experiment with new ideas without time constraints. While this unmediated recording environment theoretically provides an artist with unlimited creative flexibility, it also allows for detrimental misuse in the form of non original composition, which can negate the creative possibilities of this new artistic process. The accessibility and simplicity of the unmediated digital recording process enable individuals, who otherwise would not be involved in music recording, damage the reputation ... This decision is what PETA and other oppositions of SeaWorld has been seeking, but there is no news of ending these shows at their Orlando and San Antonio locations. There is Federal legislation in the works to ban orca breeding, importing and exporting them for public display. This legislation is called the Orca Act and is still in its early stages of proposal. Passing of the Orca Act would most likely be the only way Orlando would stop its killer whale shows. Stakeholders Shareholders: SeaWorld s shareholders have seen a steady decline in revenues over the past couple years, mainly because of the controversy associated with their killer whales shows. Not continuing these steps in Orlando or San Antonio, will continue to decrease revenue. Killer Whales: It is not natural for killer whales to perform shows and interact with humans. Stopping these shows in San Diego will allow them to live more relaxed and more natural. PETA: This is a small victory for PETA in its efforts against SeaWorld. With this decision, PETA will continue to push SeaWorld for more animal rights and stoppage of using animals for entertainment. Employees: Jobs within the San Diego facility with be shifted or cut. The need for animal trainers and performers will be cut. The face of the company employees at SeaWorld also get asked the most questions and sometimes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
