Baz Luhrman s Film Romeo and Juliet
Baz Luhrman s Film Romeo and Juliet In the film Romeo and Juliet , Baz Luhrman said that he was
trying to recreate the impact of the original Elizabethan production for a modern mass audience. I am
trying to find out the challenges he faced and how he solved them and say how successful he was in
making the script work for a modern audience. The problems faced by a modern director of Romeo
and Juliet Shakespeare s original audience and theatre and the style and drama Shakespeare s original
audience was made up of the whole social range. At one end of the social scale were the working
people. These were known as the groundlings because they were poor. They paid less and so they had

The big writing I mentioned are important phrases picked out from the prologue such as two star
crossed lovers take their life. The beginning of the film had a fast and furious opening which made it
more dramatic. The beginning is set at a petrol station which tells us it is modern. I think that because
the language was introduced to us in this way anyone can watch it and gradually will be able to
understand the language. Modern attitudes to Shakespeare: Theatre cinema audiences compared. In
the theatre people used to think it is a rowdy day out. Going to the theatre wasn t very comfortable in
those days because a lot of people had to stand the whole way through the play, and wouldn t have
been able to sit quietly and watch the play like we do in cinemas. People didn t take plays to seriously
and would have talked through the play and even sometimes shouted at the actors. With a play like
Romeo and Juliet there could have been audience participation too. People might have hissed at
Tybalt, or cheered or laughed when Romeo kisses Juliet because even Juliet was played by men too.
The actors would have talked through the play about something

American Gender Stereotypes
Television has a great influence on individuals, certainly television is watched for entertainment and
news, yet, it is natural for people to gather assumptions about a population, or a particular group of
people. Nevertheless, America Television screens exhibits an enormous percentage of Caucasian
males, initiating their appearance and lead roles as powerful. Images such as the description, may
conclude the dominate race and sex in America is Caucasian males. Minorities have played traditional,
and underrepresented roles on television for years. Indeed, not all women are housewives or
submissive, and certainly, most Hispanics are not alcoholics. Individuals should be represented, or
portrayed with accuracy according to their numbers in American

Structural Funding Policy in the EU Essays
Structural Funding Policy in the EU
The central aim of this paper is to examine European Union policy in terms of its agenda setting
characteristics. To do this, a theory of punctuated equilibrium is explored, based on the emergence and
recession of policy issues from the transnational policy agenda. The primary goal of this paper is to
define the current equilibrium and how it is punctuated. The secondary goal is to examine what forces
drive the punctuated equilibrium, so that we might predict punctuation in the future. To this end, I
hope to demonstrate the utility of the theory by studying structural funding (SF) policy within the
European Union.
Supranational integration has been one of the most distinctive features of the ... Show more content on

The increasingly interdependent nature of the transnational system has resulted in national borders
becoming ever more ill matched with political and economic forces and reality. This interdependence
has made it possible for Western European states to transfer policy responsibilities to the transnational
level in order to shape, manage, control, take advantage of, and keep pace with the modern world.
To the extent that transnational authorities attempt to control, either directly or indirectly, the
economies and social welfare of its members, the study of policymaking is a process worth studying.
EU policymaking is governed by various instruments, including treaty provisions, regulations, and
directives. While many policy studies on the EU focus on the need for, and benefits of, general
economic and social policies, the more fundamental, and I would submit rigorous issues of specific
policy formation, and its impacts, are under researched.
The central aim of this paper is to begin closing that gap by examining EU policy in terms of its
agenda setting characteristics. To do this, I explore a theory of punctuated equilibrium, based on the
emergence and recession of policy issues from the transnational policy agenda. Defining the current
equilibrium and how it is punctuated is one goal of this paper. Also, examining what forces drive the
punctuated equilibrium, that is, under what conditions it occurs will help in understanding how we

The Greene Brothers s Influence And Creation Of A New Style
By 1893, the Greene brothers established their practice in Pasadena. In their earlier works, their styles
varied from New England Shingle, Mission, and Dutch revival. Yet, as explained previously, they later
became influenced by Japanese architectural styles. Interestingly, their materiality styles also evolved
once they became influences by the Arts and Crafts Movement. Given their expertise with
woodworking and metal working learned through the Manual Training School, The Greene brothers s
practice became interested in furniture design by 1901, utilizing wood and quarter sawn oak as a main
material. (Heinz 2004)

utilized materials such as stained class and wood fixtures in order to preserve the coolness provided by
the cross ventilation (Blakesley 2006). The facade of the house is mostly comprised by the wooden
porches mentioned earlier. The porches utilize wood structure beams and floors that extend into the

American Social Equality
Social Equality has always been a concern of persons living in the United States. One of the main
points was the issue of same sex marriage. Same sex marriage isn t a new concept in the American
social way of life. States used to have the legal power to dictate what the definition of marriage is and
who has the right to marry. In the Supreme Case of Obergefell v. Hodges, homosexuals now have the
constitutional right for them to be able to marry. In America there are two definitions of marriage, the
traditional and same sex. Traditional marriage is defined as a marriage between man and woman.

with someone else s rights. So in the instance of granting marriage licenses clerks can have opposing
views on homosexuals getting married. They can believe that they should not be able to have the right

licenses that would go against their personal views, but they could not physically reject the marriage.

Why Do Dogs Make Outstanding Pets
Approximately thirty seven to forty seven percent of households in America own a dog. With nearly
half of the country owning this pet, it makes me wonder, what is so special about them? I personally
own an exceptional Rottweiler named Mocha, and I must say I cannot imagine my life without her. I
believe that dogs are outstanding pets to have for two main reasons; first of all, they are beneficial to
the owner s health, and second they provide their owners with protection from a multitude of dangers.
Aside from promoting favorable physical health due to exercising a dog, there are studies that have
proven that simply petting a dog can significantly lower a person s blood pressure. When petting a
dog, it has been shown that the body releases chemicals that are considered feel good hormones such
as serotonin, oxytocin, and prolactin while decreasing the amount of stress creating cortisol being
produced. Surprisingly enough, ten to twenty percent of infants and children develop eczema, a skin
condition that is customarily characterized by extremely inflamed, ... Show more content on

When I am home alone, I rely on my Rottweiler to alert me to anyone at the door or anyone walking
in front of my house for that matter. Dogs are extremely loyal pets, and they are generally willing to

my dog has an exceptional ability to sense danger, as well as being extremely protective of those that
she is the most attached to. By its nature, when a stranger, or even a family member that my dog is not
familiar with approaches my son, my dog will immediately place herself in between that person and
my child in a protective and slightly aggressive manner in an effort to deter this person. If that person
does not heed her warning, it is very likely that she will jump on, or nip at that person with the sole
intention of protecting my

E Commerce Vs. Electronic Commerce
There are plenty of ways to define the definition of E commerce. For example, according to the
Oxford Dictionary, E commerce or electronic commerce is the commercial transaction that conducted
electronically on the Internet. Some people define E commerce as the processes of buying, selling, or
exchanging products, services, and information by using the computer network technology such as the
Internet. E commerce does not only provide the function of buying and selling goods and services
online via digital mediums such as Internet, but the function facilitating the entire purchasing and
selling processes for both sellers and buyers (JENNEX, AMOROSO and ADELAKUN, 2004). The

E commerce has built a nearly perfect market because immediate and people are able to compare the
offerings from numerous sellers worldwide. The growth of E commerce has numerous advantages
over the traditional stores or brick and mortar stores, which include greater flexibility, improved
market outreach, lower cost structures, faster transactions, broader product lines, greater convenience,
and customization (Srinivasan, Anderson and Ponnavolu, 2002). E commerce provides opportunities
to businesses especially in developing countries to access to the global market and reduce the
transaction costs, and also helps developing countries to overcome the world economy problems
(Lawrence and Tar, 2010). Since E commerce enables all businesses from anywhere in the world to
access to the global market, all people have equally chance to compete with the others. Without E
commerce, it is almost impossible for small medium enterprises (SMEs) to compete with the large
organizations due to the amount of the capitals that makes the larger organizations to hold the
advantages over the smaller organizations. E commerce is involved the use of the information
technology (IT) to improve the communications and transactions with all of an organization s
stakeholders. E commerce is also used as a new innovation strategy to raise business competitiveness,

Why Did Beowulf Survive In Anglo Saxon Time
During the Anglo Saxon time period loyalty and bravery were necessary characteristics of a man.
During this time period, where surviving was difficult only the strongest survived. Beowulf was one
of the warriors that lived in this time period. Monsters, warring armies, dragons, and creatures of the
sea made life perilous. Society was looking for an epic hero. Beowulf was the answer to society s
search. Strength, bravery, and the desire for glory were three qualities that make Beowulf an epic hero.
The Anglo Saxon time period was a time where survival of the fittest was one of the largest aspects of
society. The text states Beowulf, /A prince of the Geats, had killed Grendel, /Ended the grief, the
sorrow, the suffering /Forced on Hrothgar s helpless people /By a bloodthirsty fiend. No Dane doubted

Coloone Colonel Graff Isolation Quotes
Ender understands that he is being offered a spot in Battle School, but does not know that it is the
beginning of isolation for him. In the beginning, Graff had already planned to take Ender with him to
Battle School and in order for that to succeed; Graff had to persuade Ender that he is making his
family s life harder. They look at you and see you as a badge of pride, because they were able to
circumvent the law and have a Third. But you re also a badge of cowardice, because they dare not go
further and practice the noncompliance they still feel is right. And you re a badge of public shame,
because at every step you interfere with their efforts at assimilation into normal complying society
(23). Ender s isolation games begin with these words. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ender departs for Battle School, in part, to make his family s life easier, but he has no clue yet that his
road ahead is filled with loneness and separation. When Ender is at the shuttle, Colonel Graff
purposely tells all the Launchies that Ender is the genius of the group and that no one can surpass him,
making everyone on the launch dislike him. This wasn t the way the show was supposed to go. Graff
was supposed to pick on him, not set him up as the best. They were supposed to be against each other
at first, so they could become friends later (32). This also shows that Colonel Graff is forcing him to
only depend on himself. What Ender also doesn t know is that his enforced segregation is becoming a
tool in the hands of the officers. They obviously determine that the loss of companionship will leave
him stronger. However, too much isolation will lead to the experiment s

If you are like millions around the world, you may be frustrated with the state of the education system.
A system which leaves us in debt, grants degrees that do not guarantee jobs or happiness, earns us
only ordinary jobs that are not fulfilling; jobs where we survive instead of thrive. When I went to high

Think about the times we are concern about our weight and we wished we had been taught to exercise
and eat well, or times we are down and we wished to learn meditate to better control our emotions.
These are the real world problems that can really hold us back in life, and directly influence our
happiness and I thinks it is about the time to make these skills more accessible to everyone. The point
is, if someone wants to get good at math, then he studies math, or if he wants to get good at science,
he studies science and the same thing applies here. If you want to get good at relationships, you study
relationships, or if you want to get successful, then you need to study success. School is definitely
necessary, but it is not complete. Imagine an education that included the best of the current system, but
at the same time, teaches you how to have healthier relationships, be better lovers, a better parent, live
healthier, and not just live a successful life, but a deeply meaningful and fulfilled life.
Given these points, the big gap in our educational system today is the gap between what skills people
truly need to learn to live extraordinary lives and the amount of exposure they actually get to those
skills. There is a way to fill this gap. Science has proven that our minds have inevitable power to
shape our lives and our happiness. Whether it is intentionally or unwanted, our thoughts are actually

Arizona State Sun Devils Case Study
Arizona State Sun Devils Pacific 12 Conference (Pac 12) South (2014 record: 10 3) Head Coach:
Todd Graham Offense: In spite of the fact the Sun Devils had a solid record on the 2014 season, that
record might be a little deceiving given the fact the Sun Devils had a season of highs and lows and
probably weren t as good as its record indicated. That said, the offense certainly did its part by racking
up solid numbers across the board. The team scored 36.9 PPG while taking good care of the ball with
only 13 turnovers throughout the season. Going into this season, Coach Graham has a couple of key
players returning on offense. At the quarterback position, much of last year ended up being a
platooning situation between since departed Taylor Kelly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, that might not be good enough in the Pac 12. Most of the teams in this conference can put
points on the board at will, which is going to put a lot of pressure on Coach Graham and his players to
find creative ways to score. Defense: In 2014, the Sun Devils defense was too porous. They gave up
27.9 PPG and 417 YPG with most of it coming through the air. The one thing that saved this defense
from looking rather ordinary was its ability to get after the ball. With 27 forced turnovers (5 returned
for TDs), they just had a knack for being in the right place at the right time. Coach Graham does not
have the luxury of assuming his team will be so fortunate to come up with so many turnovers this
season. Instead, he is going to have to hope that the return of three top defensive players will bring the
unit much needed experience and leadership. Among the players returning are SR DB Jordon Simone,
SR LB Antonio Longino and JR LB Salamo Fiso. Simone was second on the team in tackles will 100
while Longino added 94 tackles and Fiso accounted for 83 of them to go along with 3.5 sacks. The
Sun Devils will have to find a reliable defensive lineman to replace Marcus Hardison who led the
team in sacks with

Fake Real News
These days, if the media is not about some insignificant celebrity gossip, it is focusing on spinning a
controversy in one form or another. There has been a blurring of the boundary between news and pop
culture. In the book Understanding Popular Music by Roy Shuker, Kathleen Turner said that Popular
culture and the mass media have a symbiotic relationship: each depends on the other in an intimate
collaboration. Most news networks are over saturated with low quality information and convince
people that what is shown is based on facts. Enter The Daily Show with John Stewart and the Colbert
Report who blur the line between comedy and journalism. Both shows are satirical news television
programs that appear on a comedy channel. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And the satirist was more successful in doing so than any other news outlet we measured. (Hardy,
Gottfriend, Winneg, Jamieson 23).
The study also mentioned that Colbert was more successful informing his viewers about Super Pac s
than other types of news media. Some might argue that with their present influence come certain
ethical obligations. Media expert Bruce A. Williams and Michael X. Delli Carpini write that even fake
news shows should be held to some journalistic standards. However, that claim cannot be taken
seriously when both Williams and Carpini are aware that the Daily Show and Colbert Report are both
fake news . That would be the same as holding counterfeit clothes equal to the standards of their
original brands. We do not hold political pundits on mainstream media outlets to the traditional
standards of objectivity and ethics, so why should we do it to a couple of comedians? One of the
reasons why The Daily Show and The Colbert Report have become widely popular as news sources is
because of the widespread dissatisfaction with current politics and the mainstream media. Martin
Kaplan, associate dean of the University of Southern California s Annenberg School for
Communication agrees with the sentiment. Straight news is not what it used to be, he says. (Smolkin).
The regular news is still a place where somebody is able to

Ocean Acidification Is Destroying Our Environment

Ocean Acidification:
How the Ocean s Declining pH is Destroying Our Environment
Sometimes called climate change s equivalently destructive twin , ocean acidification is becoming
more and more noticeable as the seawater s changing chemistry begins to cause environmental and
economical problems. When the Industrial Revolution began around 1760, fossil fuel powered
machines gained an immense amount of accessibility and popularity. Since then, carbon dioxide
(CO2) levels in the atmosphere have risen enough to change the pH of the world s oceans. Given that
the ocean absorbs almost half of the CO2 that is released into our atmosphere, ocean acidification is
inclining into an even greater problem as fossil fuels become a more common energy source in our
society. Higher acid levels can harm wildlife, disrupt the food chain, and negatively impact industries
that rely on the ocean for business. Ocean acidification is causing growing dilemmas for both marine
ecosystems and ocean based economies. Although many companies and organizations are attempting
to fix this problem, acidification is still threatening to cause increasingly harmful issues for the future.
Ocean acidification is the constant increase of acidity in the Earth s oceans, caused by the unceasingly
rising levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Anthropogenic CO2 is mainly emitted by the
burning of fossil fuels, including coal, oil, and natural gas. Since the

Essay about Pornography s Effects on Relationships
Pornography s Effects on Relationships
When it comes to relationships there are many things that need to be present in order for it to work

a relationship it can be destroyed and could possible ruin that relationship forever. This essay will be
able to inform you of all the ways that pornography can and does ruin relationships. Support for this
argument will be drawn from the following sources: Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy, Love, Sex,

When women find out that men went behind their backs and even lied to them this is when the
relationship takes a turn for the worse. Women take lying very seriously and when they find out they

honesty is no longer present in their relationship.
Pornography can take a toll on women s emotions as well as their self esteem. When women first find
out that their husbands have been using pornography they begin to feel that is their fault. They start to
put themselves down and think that they are sexually undesirable, worthless, weak, and stupid
(Bergner 194). For many women this could mean a big time emotional break down. Women begin to
think that their husbands are using pornography because they cannot satisfy them and make them
happier than the other women that they are looking at. Bergner points out that men don t understand
what they cause their partners to feel once they have found out about their second life. Women feel
that they are constantly being compared to porn stars and not looked at for whom they really are. This
makes them think that whenever they do engage in sexual activities that their husbands are not
thinking about them, they are thinking about the women that they have been looking at. Bergner
explains that most relationships are ended at this point because these women will never fell the same

The Need For Intravascular Catheters Are Evidently Clear
The need for intravascular catheters are evidently clear in modern day medical practices especially in
the intensive care setting (ICU). Despite the necessity of such catheters, their use places patients at
risk of developing complications such as infections, thrombophlebitis, endocarditis and a variety of
other metastatic infections. In the hospital setting an estimated 250,000 bloodstream infections (BSI)
associated to CVC occur annually, thus the need for proper aseptic skin care. The widely used
antiseptic for cleansing CVC sites in the United States was iodine. However several studies have
shown that cleansing CVC sites with 2% aqueous chlorhexidine gluconate lowered BSI when
compared to iodine. (O Grady et. al., 2011)

Define the Scope of the EBP
According to the CDC an approximate 80,000 BSI cases occur in ICUs annually in the United States,
with an estimated 250,000 cases in hospitals as a whole. The mortality rate associated in this case is
around 12 25% per infection, causing a cost of $25,000 per episode for the health care system. In this
writers facility aseptic techniques are emphasized, including the use of chlorhexidine instead of
iodine. The impact of BSI via CVC are not only patient centered but cost the healthcare system an
approximate $34,508 $56,000 per case to treat each infection.
Stakeholders
Members that would be included on the team to prevent CVC associated BSI are the physician whose
responsibility is to ensure proper procedures and practices are carried out during insertion, such as
aseptic techniques. After insertion of the CVC then it is the job of the radiologist to ensure proper
placement of the tube using X Ray imaging. After insertion and confirmation of placement then the
nurse takes over, performing duties such as dressing changes and assessment of the site for
complications. Also part of the team is the certified nursing assistant (CNA) who spends more time
with the patient than anyone else on the team who can report complications earlier to the nurse.

May 3, 2017 Their Eyes Were Watching God In this story, I have found that the themes that have stood
out to me is gender and love. These themes have captured a major thematic idea by gender being
discriminated against the women and the men. Gender is described as women being weaker than the
men and men being the powerful ones. Love is described in this story as independent until it is found.
Finding love is a part of life and everybody tries to find it but when it is found, it seems like you have
lived you life to the fullest. These examples of the themes can be brought into the real world and can
affect how people live their lives.
My first theme is going to be about gender. In the novel, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gender can happen in the real world which can lead to personal experiences. I have experienced some
gender inequality throughout my life and have had family situations since I have been alive. For
instance, my parents lived in a time where men went to work and the women had to clean, cook, and
stuff around the house. I have experienced some problems myself by my brother and I having to do
outside yard work while my sister only does inside work. She claims that yard work is for men and it s
a man s job. . What I have to say about that is that men and women don t need to do work based off if
it is a man or woman s job, work is work and you shouldn t base it off gender inequality. Another
situation I was faced with was when my mom was trying to get a job, she was trying to get a job at
selling Tupperware. She was faced with you can t sell Tupperware because you are a woman and
people don t buy stuff off of women. . She sticked with her gut and went for it, now she is very
successful in her business and doesn t let what a guy said to her stop her.
Another theme I chose from the story was love. Love can be a powerful thing or a devastating thing.
For example, After that she came to where Joe Starks was waiting for her with a hired rig. He was
very solemn and helped her to the seat beside him. With him on it, it sat like some high, ruling chair.

Alice Amsden Summary
Alice Amsden was an expert in economic development who focused much of her work on the
evolution of East Asian nations from economies relying on agriculture to the development and
innovation of industrialization and technology. Amsden uses the example of a nation like South Korea
and how they have become one of the strongest economies in the world in recent years. Amsden
explains that South Korea realized that instead of capitalizing on its comparative advantage with rice,
they learned to invest in technology for the future. Thus, like Japan before them and Taiwan and China
after, they developed comparative advantages by investing in learning and innovation. The most
educated populations were to be found in Argentina, Chile, Korea, and Taiwan. In 1950 these
countries had the highest mean years of schooling (Amsden 239). Late industrialization is a result of

The Misrepresentation Of Minorities For The Mainstream...
The misrepresentation of minorities for the sake of the mainstream film industry has existed since the
foundation of the Hollywood industry. While the industry favors the white male as the ideal for
audiences to cheer towards victory, those who once played both racist and stereotypical characters are
now taking the opportunity to speak out against the mainstream ideal. Out of the several minority
groups working to change the definition of mainstream media to favor minorities, ... the recent
expansion of Asian American roles on television has paradoxically ushered in a new generation of
actors with just enough star power and job security to speak more freely about Hollywood s larger
failures (Hess). Unfortunately, the mainstream film industry seems to continually work against the
sense of positioning minorities into leading roles, or much of any role in the big blockbusters
Hollywood, and other mainstream productions, bank upon each year. The Asian male has long been
the victim of racism, misrepresentation, and emasculation by the mainstream, and it continues to exist.
Although, films are coming out, mostly from independent filmmakers, that counteract the racist
Hollywood foundation, even if it s in a very small degree. One film to have been held up as an
opposition to this victimization of the mainstream film industry, Better Luck Tomorrow, directed by
Justin Lin. By using an all Asian cast of young men to tell a coming of age story, Better Luck

watched computer videos, phone reviews, etc, and I can get lost on Youtube doing that for hours. Just
recently I built myself a new computer from scratch, by ordering all the parts separately, then one day,
I put it all together. Ever since that day, I feel so accomplished that I was able to do something like
that, and I get compliments from many people all the time. That led to me looking into my future
career, and I found being a Computer Software Engineer is best suitable for me and my lifestyle. It
will allow me to do what I love everyday, and make a comfortable living doing so. Upon looking into
colleges, I chose Ball State as they have been emailing me for awhile now, and doing my research, I

A Brief Note On Gold Nanoparticle Sensor Augmentation Essay
DISCUSSION In order to improve the range of the electronic nose, the following must be considered
in order to effectively detect cancers. Primarily, types of cancer must be tested to determine if they
contain compounds detectable by dogs, which would indicate that said specific cancer contains odors
that are possible to be detected through an electronic nose. Secondly, a database must be compiled of
all the different detectable compounds that are unique to each type cancer through scientific research.
After these two steps are complete, a gold nanoparticle sensor must be designed in order detect
compounds specific to each cancer. All in all, the improved electronic nose will be susceptible to
detect cancers it was unable to smell before. The following are the steps involved in this
recommendation and illustrate the processes needed to carry out this project. Cancer Detectability
Cancer Compounds Gold Nanoparticle Sensor Augmentation Cancer Detectability To be able to
improve the existing electronic nose technology that detects cancers via chemical compounds, it is
required that those compounds are feasible to be detected by a dog. If there is documented history of

This technique assist in the decision making process because once the internal rate of return is
determined, the desired investment can easily be decided. Taking the cash outflow and inflow from
each alternative and the desired rate of return will offer the best comparison as which investment will
present a return favorable.
Recommendation
The recommendation Mr. Navallez should take is alternative 1. Alternative 1 offers the best return on
investment. The use of the net present value techniques presents the desired return on investment. Net
present value over internal rate of return presents the expected return on cash outflows for the cost of
the investment, thus allowing management to compute a present value index. (Edmonds, Edmonds,
Olds, McNair, Schnieder, p.1160) Assume the desired rate of return is 8% over 10 periods, alternative
1 cash inflow would be $421,834 with cash outflow being $323,091 and alternative 2 cash inflow of
$314,057 with cash outflow being $283,930. The present value of alternative 1 is $98,743 and
alternative 2 is $30,127. Alternative 1 yields a higher rate of return, however, taking it a step further to
confirm alternative 1 is the best investment the present value index offers an additional comparison of
the two investments.

The Reigns Of David, Hezekiah And Josiah
After many centuries of being under the rule of judges, the Israelites finally ask Samuel to appoint a
king, making Israel like most other nations being ruled as monarchies. This request leads to the
appointing of the first king of Israel, Saul, followed by centuries of kings (1 Samuel 8 9). A large
majority of these kings have been deemed to be bad kings, leaving only a small handful to be
considered good. In general, these kings are given such labels for their actions and policies throughout
their time of power. This paper will discuss the reigns of David, Hezekiah and Josiah and what makes
them considered good kings, as well as Ahab and Manasseh and the actions that deemed them to be
bad kings. Throughout the history of Israel and Judah, there have been very few kings that are
classified by scholars as being good. The king in which all other kings are measured up to, and
possibly the most widely known, would be David. He is actually stated to be the most fully developed
character in the Hebrew bible (Coogan 255). David took reign after Saul and at this time Israel was
still a united monarchy. His success as a king can be contributed to both his character and relationship
with God. David s talent as a warrior can be seen when he so effortlessly conquers the massive
Philistine, Goliath. He also exhibited political and military strength as a double agent working for the
Israelites while living amongst the Philistines, all while conquering the enemies of Israel.

High School Vs. College Student
High school Student vs. College Student School plays an important role in our life. Many of us will
spend more than fifteen years at school in order to get the qualifications that are required to work in a
specific field. Of course, those years are broken down into several levels, some of them being more
liked than others. Two important steps that we go through are high school and college. Even though
some people would think they are almost similar, yet there are significant differences between them.
The cost of high school education is not the same as the cost of college education. Also, some
differences apply from an academic point of view. Typically, the social environment also differs from
high school to college, a fact that can be related to the question of freedom versus responsibility. It is
true to say that college is more expensive than high school. Of course, it provides a higher level of
education, but by having such high fees it does not give a chance to them; coming from a family with
a low income. Also, at college you have to buy your own books whereas in high school you borrow
them from the school for a year. As they do for high schools, the government should pay for the books
and then borrow them to students, as they do in high schools. Paying for the education you get is
expensive, but many people have to pay even more. Many cities do not have colleges, so students who

How Did The North American Colonists Have Taxes Justified
North American colonists chose to revolt against the king to get rid of unfair taxes and unjust
treatment of its citizens. When the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights were made, the developers
made sure that there was taxation with representation, and no cruel and unusual punishment. Every
time there is a war, money must be raised to maintain it. However, unlike the king, taxes were made
without proper reason and proof made it harder for colonists to understand why the king s actions
were justified. During the Stamp Act of 1765, Britian declared that all documents (newspapers, books,
court documents, etc.) must be stamp and that a stamp purchase must be required to help finance the
stationing of British troops throughout North America.1 American colonists were not recognized in
the House of Commons, and claimed that Britain had no reason to impose taxes solely based on
making profit on regulating trade.2 The colonists allegiance was still to Britain, but they later decide

Ford Pinto Research Paper
A ball of fires comes from the small compact car called the Ford Pinto. Just a touch of the bumper will

The idea for the Ford Pinto started in about 1968 when car companies were trying to create small

Theme Of Gender Roles In La Dame Esscoille
During the Middle Ages, there were strict gender roles for men and women; men were seen as active
figures of authority in both the household and society, whereas women were largely confined to the
domestic realm and expected to submit passively to men. These gender roles resulted in a strict gender
binary which held the belief that each sex was born with a set of traits that made them distinctly
masculine or feminine. Accordingly, the society in the thirteenth century old French fabliau La Dame
Escoillée upholds these medieval attitudes towards men and women. Throughout the fabliau, the
speaker portrays a patriarchal society which privileges men over women and is governed by
prescribed gender roles that men and women are expected to adhere to. In the beginning of the story,
the knight is feminized through his obedience to his wife, while his wife assumes a traditional male
gender role of dominance and authority. The wife s rejection of a traditional female role is later passed
on to their daughter, who attempts to gain authority over her husband in her own marriage. As a
whole, the fabliau is driven by challenges of masculine social authority, with a central focus on
violence against women as means of asserting masculine dominance. Moreover, the story s theatrical
excess of male and female gender roles calls attention to the performativity of gender, in which
gendered behaviour is learned and enforced to shape individuals into idealized masculine and
feminine subjects. In

Although there are an increasingly number of literature when it comes to serial killers, but it would
appear that most of it is more based on the identification of the killer and the reasons why he or she
did it (2009). According to Bartels and Parsons, it is believed that there is a dominant understanding of
a serial killer that it has to do with a sexual fantasy role, which has to do with a role of sexual fantasy.
Fantasy is defined by Prentky et al. (1989: 889) as an elaborated set of cognitions (thoughts)
characterised by preoccupation (or rehearsal), anchored in emotions, and originating in daydreams
(Bartels and Parsons, 2009, 267 268), as well as them being involved in cognitions or images that are
sexually arousing (2009). This all goes back to an isolated sexual murder (Bartels and Parsons, 2009,
268), in 1885, the first emphasis on sexual fantasy was in 1957 by Reinhardt. Back then is what led to
the term sexual sadistic killer (Bartels and Parsons, 2009). In 1992 Ressler defined a true meaning of
what s the meaning to the term serial killer, that they have an obsession with fantasies of murder and
this leads them to repeat the crimes until they have successfully acted out these fantasies

Objectivity And The Phenomenological Reduction
Objectivity is a funny way of people justifying their own subjections. Edmund Husserl is the guy to
talk to if you want to be confused by what objectivity means. I say confused, because Husserl s path
through the end product of the phenomenological reduction leads him to contradictions, which
generate revisions of his investigation. Eventually his revisions lead to a happy phenomenological
objective ending and will be discussed along with another objectivity viewpoint: The View from
Nowhere. Lastly I ll give you my objective/subjective opinion on which objectivity I think is more
convincing. Objectivity to Husserl is what he considered the phenomenological reduction. The aim of
the initial phenomenological reduction is to individuate correctly the domain of pure consciousness as
the domain of meaning constitution (Moran 78). I ll attempt to use logic as an example: the proper
object of logic is to study the relationship between the contents of expressions and what is being
expressed; Modus Ponens states that if p then q is accepted, and the antecedent p holds, then the
consequent q may be inferred. Logic is only interested in the functional relation between the truth
value of p and q in the domain where Modus Ponens is applicable. Because logic, in one domain is
only interested in the functional relation between p and q, its overall truth value is limited to a one
sided truth. Logic deals with validities and the laws in which hold between them. Ideal laws of

Similarities Between Judaism And Buddhism
Religion Essay
Who has more followers between Judaism and Buddhism? The answer is Buddhism.
Buddhism is a religion that has 300 million, their god is Buddha. They are not polytheistic or
monotheistic, they have no personal god. Polytheistic mean a religion has many gods. Monotheistic
only means they have one. Judaism is our second religion. Judaism has 13 million followers, and they
are monotheistic, they believe in god. They compare because they both worship in temples. Temples

First Crusades Dbq
Before the first Crusade, Western Europe had become a place with not much progress, confined from
other civilizations and hidden in the Dark Ages that had gone down on Western Christendom after the
collapse of the Roman Empire. At the time of the first Crusade, the Middle East and Western Europe
were greatly divided. The Crusades contributed to the end of Western Europe s global isolation by
introducing an era in which Western Europe came into direct contact with the large trade routes that
united their civilization with Asia.
The Crusades introduced many Western Europeans to trading. Many goods flowed along these trade
routes such as spices, silk, cotton, paper, medicines and other endless amounts of products. The trade
created a high demand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These reasons resulted in what became a prosperous first crusade led by the Pope himself. The
political reasons ranged from a desire for adventure to the land of Jerusalem, wanting to gain more
power, and other economic rationales. By the end of the first crusade, the Crusaders were victorious in
stripping more than forty silver candelabra and more than twenty gold ones in the Dome of the Rock.
The economic reasons included gaining more wealth, land, riches and multiple goods. The Pope
claims that the Crusaders must ...rush quickly as [they] can to the defence of the Eastern Church and
that it s ...a beautiful thing to die for Christ... . The religious reasons the Crusaders thought to be true
was that the crusade was God s call for the Christian brothers to accomplish their attack on the
Muslims. The Muslims were filled with grief as the Arab Historian, Ibn al Athir, recalls that ...the
Franks slaughtered more than 70,000 people...women and children taken prisoner, the homes
pillaged... . Unlike the rejoice in the documents and articles from the Crusaders perspectives, the
Muslim perspective felt sorrow for those who died innocently. The Crusaders destroyed an extensive
portion the Jerusalem land and population, taking away valuable riches and treasures from the Holy
Land. While later crusades failed to accomplish that of the crusade led by Pope Urban III, I greatly
believe that the first crusade was a great

Advantages Of Lenovo
3.1 Recommended Future strategic direction to attain competitive advantage
3.1.1 Proposed strategy
It is important for a company to choose a relevant internationalization strategy in order to attain
competitive advantage. Basically, competitive advantage is a company s ability to perform in one or
more ways that competitors cannot or will not match (Philip Kotler, Gary Armstrong, 2007, p182)
As Lenovo has been successfully internationalizing into other country by using joint venture as their
strategy, the new relevant proposed strategy that the company can use is direct exporting. Direct
exporting is considered relevant to be used as the new strategy for Lenovo because it is the least risky
strategy of all. In fact, Lenovo can maximizes their profit and minimizing their risk in direct exporting

As direct exporting is the new proposed strategy in 3.1.1, Lenovo will be focusing on the pressures for
global integration which is to seek cost reduction through economies of scale and arbitrage benefits.
As Lenovo wanted to attain competitive advantage through cost leadership strategy, they first have to
cut down their cost in order to be able to sell product with lower price. Hence, the pressure of global
integration in cost reduction is identified there.
The advantages that global integration can give to Lenovo through cost leadership are that they can
help Lenovo to save costs and achieve global efficiencies. They can also improve the quality of
product and processes. High quality product promotes global brand recognition and gives rise to
customer preference and efficient international marketing programs. They create economies of scale,
which can result in lower operational costs, higher quality standardized product and homogenization
consumer demand.

Baz Luhrman s Film Romeo and Juliet Baz Luhrman s Film Romeo and Juliet In the film Romeo and Juliet , Baz Luhrman said that he was trying to recreate the impact of the original Elizabethan production for a modern mass audience. I am trying to find out the challenges he faced and how he solved them and say how successful he was in making the script work for a modern audience. The problems faced by a modern director of Romeo and Juliet Shakespeare s original audience and theatre and the style and drama Shakespeare s original audience was made up of the whole social range. Modern attitudes to Shakespeare: Theatre cinema audiences compared. In the theatre people used to think it is a rowdy day out. Going to the theatre wasn t very comfortable in those days because a lot of people had to stand the whole way through the play, and wouldn t have been able to sit quietly and watch the play like we do in cinemas. People didn t take plays to seriously and would have talked through the play and even sometimes shouted at the actors. With a play like Romeo and Juliet there could have been audience participation too. To do this, a theory of punctuated equilibrium is explored, based on the emergence and recession of policy issues from the transnational policy agenda. The primary goal of this paper is to define the current equilibrium and how it is punctuated. The secondary goal is to examine what forces drive the punctuated equilibrium, so that we might predict punctuation in the future. The increasingly interdependent nature of the transnational system has resulted in national borders becoming ever more ill matched with political and economic forces and reality. This interdependence has made it possible for Western European states to transfer policy responsibilities to the transnational level in order to shape, manage, control, take advantage of, and keep pace with the modern world. To the extent that transnational authorities attempt to control, either directly or indirectly, the economies and social welfare of its members, the study of policymaking is a process worth studying. EU policymaking is governed by various instruments, including treaty provisions, regulations, and directives. While many policy studies on the EU focus on the need for, and benefits of, general economic and social policies, the more fundamental, and I would submit rigorous issues of specific policy formation, and its impacts, are under researched. The central aim of this paper is to begin closing that gap by examining EU policy in terms of its agenda setting characteristics. To do this, I explore a theory of punctuated equilibrium, based on the emergence and recession of policy issues from the transnational policy agenda. Defense: In 2014, the Sun Devils defense was too porous. They gave up 27.9 PPG and 417 YPG with most of it coming through the air. The one thing that saved this defense from looking rather ordinary was its ability to get after the ball. With 27 forced turnovers (5 returned for TDs), they just had a knack for being in the right place at the right time. Ocean Acidification Is Destroying Our Environment Evelyn Yang Nick Grossenbacher Essay Writing A July 6, 2015 Ocean Acidification: How the Ocean s Declining pH is Destroying Our Environment Sometimes called climate change s equivalently destructive twin , ocean acidification is becoming more and more noticeable as the seawater s changing chemistry begins to cause environmental and economical problems. When the Industrial Revolution began around 1760, fossil fuel powered machines gained an immense amount of accessibility and popularity. Since then, carbon dioxide (CO2) levels in the atmosphere have risen enough to change the pH of the world s oceans. Given that the ocean absorbs almost half of the CO2 that is released into our atmosphere, ocean acidification is inclining into an even greater problem as fossil fuels become a more common energy source in our society. Higher acid levels can harm wildlife, disrupt the food chain, and negatively impact industries that rely on the ocean for business. Ocean acidification is causing growing dilemmas for both marine ecosystems and ocean based economies. Although many companies and organizations are attempting to fix this problem, acidification is still threatening to cause increasingly harmful issues for the future. May David Vivas Mrs. Bradley English 11; Period 2 May 3, 2017 Their Eyes Were Watching God In this story, I have found that the themes that have stood out to me is gender and love. These themes have captured a major thematic idea by gender being discriminated against the women and the men. Gender is described as women being weaker than the men and men being the powerful ones. Love is described in this story as independent until it is found. Finding love is a part of life and everybody tries to find it but when it is found, it seems like you have lived you life to the fullest. I have experienced some problems myself by my brother and I having to do outside yard work while my sister only does inside work. She claims that yard work is for men and it s a man s job. . What I have to say about that is that men and women don t need to do work based off if it is a man or woman s job, work is work and you shouldn t base it off gender inequality. Another situation I was faced with was when my mom was trying to get a job, she was trying to get a job at selling Tupperware. She was faced with you can t sell Tupperware because you are a woman and people don t buy stuff off of women. . She sticked with her gut and went for it, now she is very successful in her business and doesn t let what a guy said to her stop her. Another theme I chose from the story was love. Love can be a powerful thing or a devastating thing. For example, After that she came to where Joe Starks was waiting for her with a hired rig. Amsden explains that South Korea realized that instead of capitalizing on its comparative advantage with rice, they learned to invest in technology for the future. Thus, like Japan before them and Taiwan and China after, they developed comparative advantages by investing in learning and innovation. The misrepresentation of minorities for the sake of the mainstream film industry has existed since the foundation of the Hollywood industry. A Brief Note On Gold Nanoparticle Sensor Augmentation Essay DISCUSSION In order to improve the range of the electronic nose, the following must be considered in order to effectively detect cancers. Primarily, types of cancer must be tested to determine if they contain compounds detectable by dogs, which would indicate that said specific cancer contains odors that are possible to be detected through an electronic nose. Secondly, a database must be compiled of all the different detectable compounds that are unique to each type cancer through scientific research. After these two steps are complete, a gold nanoparticle sensor must be designed in order detect compounds specific to each cancer. All in all, the improved electronic nose will be susceptible to detect cancers it was unable to smell before. A large majority of these kings have been deemed to be bad kings, leaving only a small handful to be considered good. In general, these kings are given such labels for their actions and policies throughout their time of power. • 37. Theme Of Gender Roles In La Dame Esscoille During the Middle Ages, there were strict gender roles for men and women; men were seen as active figures of authority in both the household and society, whereas women were largely confined to the domestic realm and expected to submit passively to men. These gender roles resulted in a strict gender binary which held the belief that each sex was born with a set of traits that made them distinctly masculine or feminine. Accordingly, the society in the thirteenth century old French fabliau La Dame Escoillée upholds these medieval attitudes towards men and women. Throughout the fabliau, the speaker portrays a patriarchal society which privileges men over women and is governed by prescribed gender roles that men and women are expected to adhere to. In the beginning of the story, the knight is feminized through his obedience to his wife, while his wife assumes a traditional male gender role of dominance and authority. The wife s rejection of a traditional female role is later passed on to their daughter, who attempts to gain authority over her husband in her own marriage. As a whole, the fabliau is driven by challenges of masculine social authority, with a central focus on violence against women as means of asserting masculine dominance. Moreover, the story s theatrical excess of male and female gender roles calls attention to the performativity of gender, in which gendered behaviour is learned and enforced to shape individuals into idealized masculine and feminine subjects. Eventually his revisions lead to a happy phenomenological objective ending and will be discussed along with another objectivity viewpoint: The View from Nowhere. The aim of the initial phenomenological reduction is to individuate correctly the domain of pure consciousness as the domain of meaning constitution (Moran 78). I ll attempt to use logic as an example: the proper object of logic is to study the relationship between the contents of expressions and what is being expressed; Modus Ponens states that if p then q is accepted, and the antecedent p holds, then the consequent q may be inferred. Logic is only interested in the functional relation between the truth value of p and q in the domain where Modus Ponens is applicable.
