Global Warming Problem In The United States
The world is home to billions of people, living all across the globe. There are hundreds of countries
and they all have different problems. Yet there is one issue that is worldwide, which is global
warming. Global warming is a colossal problem to the United States and the world that threatens the
very existence of humankind; further action must be taken by the United States government in
order to minimize and counteract global warming.
Global warming is a worldwide epidemic that in large part is directly caused by human activities.
NASA defines global warming as the unusually rapid increase in Earth s average surface
temperature[...] due to the greenhouse gasses released as people burn fossil fuels. In the past 100
years, global temperatures have been rising because of the increasing amount of greenhouse gasses
being released into the atmosphere. Greenhouse gasses, such as CO2, are released when humans
burn fossil fuels such as coal. People may argue that climate change is a natural part of life and has
occurred in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the Washington Post, the U.S. has caused more global warming than any other
country (Moony, 2015). The increase in ocean levels and in average global temperature is in a large
part, due to the U.S. The Washington Post states that even though China has surpassed the U.S. in
emissions of CO2 per year, the U.S. far outnumbers any other country in total greenhouse gas
emissions released, being responsible for 27% of all CO2 emissions between the years 1850 and
2011; the second largest contributor of CO2 emissions is China, who is responsible for 11%
(Mooney, 2015). The United States is responsible for over a quarter of the CO2 emissions
throughout history, which is a heavy burden to bear. Instead of pointing fingers at other countries,
the U.S. government and population must act to minimize their contribution to global

What Is The Differences Between The Monarchy, Aristocracy,...
In this essay I will be comparing and contrasting monarchy, aristocracy, tyranny, oligarchy, and
democracy in Ancient Greece.
Monarchy.
There are two types of monarchy one is a constitutional monarchy and the other is absolute
monarchy. Absolute monarchs are really all powerful, they are able to pass laws and veto any
law passed or suggested by politicians, a constitutional monarch has less power and is really only a
figurehead as a head of state.
In Ancient Greece there were not really a lot of monarchies, there was of course Sparta with its
unique two King system. The two Kings come from the direct descendants of the founders of
Sparta, they weren t really absolute monarchs because they had the ephors stopping them from
taking too many decisions that could be harmful to the state (Cartwright, 2013). There were other
monarchies in the times of Ancient Greece, most notably Macedonia, that went on to conquer
Greece in 336 BCE (Brand, n.d. ,p36).
Aristocracy.
This was the rule of a few elite people. They were always the richest people and what we would call
today the Lords or Ladies. They were the highest of the upper classes. This would have given them
a good chance of perks and probably a good way of becoming wealthier (Mahabal, Joshi, 2017).
Tyranny.
A tyranny could be described as a government that would be ... Show more content on

In Ancient Greece there were two specìfic times when Athens was an Oligarchy. In 411 BCE
the oligarchy of 400 took power by overthrowing the assembly, it seems they were a little
tyrannical in the way they acted, and were overthrown by the oligarchy of 5000, who were more
moderate (Cartwright, 2013). In 404 BCE Athens was defeated in Sicily and then there was yet
another power change to the oligarchy of the 30 tyrants, this was a bad time for Athens as these

Themes in Hamlet Essay
Themes in Hamlet
Within the Shakespearean tragic drama Hamlet there are a number of themes. Literary critics find it
difficult to agree on the ranking of the themes. This essay will present the themes as they are
illustrated in the play and let the reader prioritize them.
Michael Neill in None Can Escape Death, the Undiscovered Country interprets the main theme of
the play as a prolonged meditation on death :
How we respond to the ending of Hamlet both as revenge drama and as psychological study
depends in part on how we respond to [the most important underlying theme] of the play that is, to
Hamlet as a prolonged meditation on death. The play is virtually framed by two encounters with the
dead: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What is the central, unifying action of Hamlet? Revenge. (43 44)
R.A. Foakes in The Play s Courtly Setting explains the burden of revenge which the protagonist
must carry for the duration of the play:
Perhaps the most terrible feature of his recognition of corruption everywhere is his recognition of
it in himself too; where others deceive he must deceive too, where others act he must put on an
antic disposition, where the inmost desires and passions of others must be revealed, so must his
own passions be roused. And where there is no legal punishment for his father s death, he must
stoop, driven by the universal wrong, and being thus be netted round with villainies , to revenge.
He must share the corruption of others in spite of his nobility, and recognize in himself the
common features, we are arrant knaves all. (53)
Marchette Chute in The Story Told in Hamlet describes the opening scene of the drama, which
introduces the theme of supernatural influence on the present:
The story opens in the cold and dark of a winter night in Denmark, while the guard is being
changed on the battlements of the royal castle of Elsinore. For two nights in succession, just as the
bell strikes the hour of one, a ghost has appeared on the battlements, a figure dressed in complete
armor and with a face like that of the dead king of Denmark, Hamlet s

geographies, topographies, climates and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Terre Haute lies in an area described as a humid, subtropical climate, a Cfa on the Koppen Letter
Code System. This area is a mild, mid latitude climate characterized by warm to hot summers,
precipitation with a summer maximum, and mild winter temperatures. Both Berkeley and Terre
Haute lie within relatively the same latitudes, however, Berkeley lies in an area stabilized by the
poleward migration of the subtropical high and relatively cool water of the Pacific Ocean (Hess,
2013). This brings dry weather to Berkeley. Terre Haute, however, does not benefit from this
stability, and continues to experience precipitation throughout the summer months. In the areas of
the Eastern United States, this effect is also contributed to by the influence of tropical cyclones.
Berkeley, according to www.usclimatedata.com, has its highest precipitation levels during
December thru February, which is typical of Csa climates (Hess, 2013). This peak of rainfall that
is unbalanced with a typical increase of water demand during summer greatly stresses the water
budget, and can result in a sever water deficit during summer months. Californians struggled with
this through the summer of 2014, and according to an article by National Geographic, California
will struggle with a water deficit of the amount necessary to provide water to 1.5 million homes.
This is not only due to the climate of the region, but as it specifically applies to Berkeley,

My First Broken Heart Of Love
It is true love can become atrocious and unbearable. It happens too many times than it should
happen. I have experienced the beauty of love and also the tragic of love. I was barely a
teenager and I thought I was in love with this boy. His name was Noah. I should emphasize on
the past tense was because it s apart of the tragedy. Noah and I were best friends for two years.
We met each other in 7th grade. He had moved to Maryland from Texas with his father, step
mother, step brother, and dog. Our relationship bloomed like a gorgeous rose then withered and
eventually died. I was barely a teenager and I experienced my first broken heart. Lovesucks.
At first, when I saw the new kid in my math class, I thought that he would have a hard time fitting
it. The first thing anyone would notice about this kid was how incredibly thin he was. He was
severely underweight and looked very anorexic. The second thing you would notice about this
kid is his protruding front teeth. His front teeth and comical ears made him looked like a rat. I
knew this kid would get picked on immediately. Unfortunately, it did happen, by an overweight
kid. The overweight name was Garrett. Surprisingly, Noah and Garrett became friends. Since
Garrett was friends with one of my friends, he introduced Noah to our group of friends. That s
how our relationship started. Noah was also in my gym class along with math. We were always
partners in gym because we were not athletic. We officially became friends when we

The Prospect Of A Two State Nation Solution For Israel...
The Israel Palestine conflict is one of the most long term, pressing, and largely confounding social,
political, and national quandaries of our age. Since we have been moving with surprising velocity
into the vast horizons of globalization, the conflict has built up tremendous momentum and has
called into question the adequacy of our current attempts at coming to a peaceful resolution that can
simultaneously and successfully address both sides of the struggle. The purpose of this paper has
been to understand the prospect of a two state nation solution for Israeland Palestine. The
discussion arises a retrospective view of the context behind the present analysis. We begin with a
discourse that informs the reader of the historical narrative between the Jewish inhabitants of Israel
and the Palestinians who also seek to live in the lands which comprise Israel. At the forefront of the
discussion are some key issues such as trends in Israeli settlementexpansion over time, the manner
in which these settlements create political challenges towards the prospect of a two state solution,
and the fragmentation of power within Palestinian political parties which inhibit the opportunity for
proper negotiations amongst the two parties. Finally, we delve into a discussion on nationalism, it s
importance in the discussion of a two state solution, and the challenges posed when trying to
formulate US Foreign Policy towards the matter.

The Speech Of Steve Jobs
Speeches come in all shapes and sizes, some fantastic, some horrible, some motivational and
some inspirational. The one detail I can tell you there is always a few that will linger and stick
around in your head. These speeches go through history as being remembered and studied for
decades. A few that come to mind happen to be I have a dream by Martin Luther King, Never
give up...Don t ever give up, by Jimmy Valvano and You ve got to find what you love
, by Steve Jobs
. Each and every one of these speeches was written by men who were challenged to make difficult
decisions in their lives which would inadvertently affect their futurein one way or another.
The most current speech of the four is Steve Jobs You ve got to find what you love. His speech
targets college graduates of the 21st century. After I read Steve Jobs speech, I understood the
power of his words. At the beginning, he stated that he, unlike the graduates, never graduated from
college; he dropped out after 6 months. Additionally, he reveals information about himself
throughout the speech, such as being adopted, and the fascination for calligraphy. At the age of
20, Steve and a friend created Apple, a computer company in his parent s garage, later to be fired
from his own company. But of course that did not stop Jobs; he ended up creating two more
companies called NeXT and Pixar. Presumably, the scariest time in his life started when he was
diagnosed with an incurable pancreatic cancer

The health sector is things to do with people s health and wellbeing at any point throughout their
life. Many centres deal with health and help people to be healthier and live for longer. These
range from hospitals to your local clinic. Also, clients can range from the age of a new born
baby to an extremely elderly person. In health care, it involves diagnosing illnesses, prescribing
medicine and treatment, and preventing future illnesses. They can also help cure physical and
psychological problems, such as a torn cartilage (physical) or post natal depression
(psychological.) Health care is provided by many practitioners, e.g. dentists, midwives, surgeons
and chiropractors. Health care can mean Primary care, which is usually a GP surgery, secondary
care, which is a hospital, and tertiary care, which are specialist care centres. Most of the parts in

The Marrow of Tradition and House of Mirth
Class, gender, and race are just a few of the classifications that have directly impacted one s
financial, legal, and personal freedoms throughout history. There are several examples in Charles
Waddell Chesnutt s The Marrow of Tradition and Edith Wharton s House of Mirth that will shed
light to the many situations in which the characters find themselves that display the sort of
inequality that was quite common in the 20th century. In the case of The Marrow Tradition, white
supremacy and racism are major themes and while some of the characters are sympathetic
towards the African Americans in Wellington, North Carolina, there are many that are
uncomfortable with the idea of white and black equality in any sense. It is Major Carteret s
personal belief that no two races can live together except in relation of superior and inferior
(Chesnutt 31). He also believes that African Americans were not educated or experienced enough
to be able to participate in specific things such as government. It did not help that African
Americans were said to have criminal tendencies either (Chesnutt 31). Many people share in his
particular views, two such people are Captain McBane and General Belmont. Captain McBane, a
radical white supremacist, was once a slave driver and a Confederate officer in the Civil War;
General Belmont was a Confederate General. The two men are

Population . At first I will provide a short biographical note on Malthus and I will also mention his
main achievements. Then, a summary of Malthus main ideas of the first two chapters of mentioned

Thomas Robert Malthus was born in 1766 (course textbook, n. d.) in Surrey, England, as the sixth
son of a wealthy intellectual family and he died in 1834 (Weikard, n. d.).

This also puts a limit on the amount of procreation possible, but however, all species strive to
surpass these limitations (Malthus, p. 2). In this aspect, human beings are not any different from
plants or animals, but in contrast to them they do not only act out of instinct. Additionally, they use
their reasoning to determine whether they will be able to care sufficiently for their children
(Malthus, p. 2).
Malthus states that there are certain checks on population and points out that there is no society
without any check applied. An unchecked population increases in a geometrical ratio, what means
that it doubles itself every twenty five years. Instead, the available food does not increase
geometrically, but gradually diminishes, because of the limited amount of fertile land. In contrast to
the population, the agricultural production, under favourable circumstances, is able to only
increase in an arithmetical ratio (Malthus, p. 6). A gap between population growth and the amount
of food available rises. As a result, to further increase the food supply, it is necessary to improve
the quality of the soil (Malthus, p. 4). Malthus points out that there is still land which is not
cultivated, even in Europe, and that especially in this region it is possible to enhance the soil
quality due to the progress of the industrialization, but it will be gradually diminishing (Malthus, p.

Henry Tibben represented hundreds of farmers growing up along the Dutch and German border
in independent Bentheim county. He firmly believed that hard work, religious freedom and the
spirit of man could create a superior world for all people. To that aim, he took full advantage of
his schooling, mastering not only reading, but writing and accounting. Optimism filled his soul
like the fresh paintings hanging in the museums. He expected the future will harbor better things
than just quiet farming. In that spirit, he never accepted the limits of digging peat or milking
cows, or practicing a religion he did not profess to. His exploring mind always asked questions,
often to the annoyance of his mentors, building a dream for himself and his descendants that only
America could foster. A test of Henry s grit came during the 1670 s when a dark spirit spread
across Holland. French King Louis sent legions of horses, cannons and nights across the Rhine
River into the flat, peat fields of the Dutch frontier. Other Catholic allies soon joined in the rampage,
sending Protestants into a panic. Rape, pillaging and infernos followed their movement north

Theseus Hero s Journey Analysis
Theseus, the newly found prince of Athens, embarks on several hero journeys including on against
Minos Minotaur and the Labyrinth. Joseph Campbell s representation of the hero s journey fully
encompasses Theseus narrative throughout his quest to defeat the Minotaur. Beginning with a call
to adventure on through the crossing of the threshold and on to the reward and resurrection.
Compared to Rank s hero s journey which includes a revelation and transformation with atonement,
Campbell s process fits more precisely to Theseusstory.
If compared to Joseph Campbell s hero s journey theory, Theseus is considered a mythological hero;

The Minotaur, meaning Minos bull, was a monster of dire appearance, having the body of a
powerful man and the head of a bull (Seltman 98). Against his newfound father s request, Theseus

Theseus leaps over the next step in Campbell s hero journey and never refuses his call to

Theseus encounters his unlikely mentor upon arriving to Crete; Minos daughter, Ariadne, instructs
Theseus to take a ball of linen with him into the labyrinth in order to trace back his steps after
defeating the Minotaur (Martin 129). Crossing the threshold, Theseus ties one end of his ball of
linen to the front door and journeys into the unconquerable maze and towards the beast (129).

III. SECURITY ISSUES
1. Authentication: Cellular networks have a large number of subscriber. Each user has to be
authenticated to ensure that the correct people are using the network.
2. Integrity: It is important that the data such as SMS, chat, and file transfer arrives without any
modification.
3. Confidentiality: In sensitive communication, it s essential to have a secure channel in order to
transmit the information.
4. Access control: The cellular device may have some files that needs to be restricted to them. The
device might access a database where some access control is necessary.
5. OS in mobile device: Some phones may have java based OS, some have Microsoft based on OS
and have the same ability as desktop computer. So issues may arise in those OS which are open
security holes.
6. Web services: This use HTTP protocol which opens variety of security issues such as viruses,

The Change Of A Change Leader
I believe that the change that is to occur has a large part on the strategies that a change leader must
use to build employee commitment and buy in. According to Palmer, Dunford and Akin (2009)
Getting people to buy in may depend upon what it is that they are buying into: whether they
perceive it as favorable to them and whether the changehad been adequately justified to them
(p.302). If it was a small change, it doesn t take much to get people to buy in, but if it is a large
change it will take some work. The first strategy that I would use as a change leader to
communicate a change is to discuss the need for the change. I believe that if people can see why
the process needs to changed, it will open them up to the possibility of a change. I have seen a
lot of process done wrong or a slow way because it was how it has always been done in that
organization. If someone would have come into that organization and told them that the amount of
time they were wasting and showed them the new way, I think the organization would buy in. The
second strategy that I would use for communicating the change is to provide everyone with
accurate information on the change, it would include how the change is going to happen and how
it will affect everyone. I will only send out information that I feel they need to know so I do not
overload them. Palmer, Dunford and Akin (2009) state information overload is even more
problematic in companies where participants are already in receipt of a

Fertility Drugs Essay
Fertility Drugs
Most men and women are raised thinking that eventually they will marry and have children. What
happens when a couple gets married and wants to have a child and finds out that after several
times of having unprotected sex there is no pregnancy? The finger is usually pointed at the woman
but in some cases it can be due to the man. In a woman s case, the problem is usually that she is
not ovulating normally and in a man s case he might have low sperm count. These are the problems
that are most heard of but there are other factors that can cause infertility. An anxious couple
quickly turns to science to try and find a solution to their problem. Although taking fertility drugs is
the solution , it can be quite strenuous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is said that women are usually the ones that suffer the most when dealing with infertility. For
some women, motherhood is a large part of their image of themselves as females. Men tend not to
be pressured the same way to become fathers. Most men are able to deal with this matter better
because they are brought up to repress their feelings. (www.babycenter.com) If it is known that the
fertility problem is his then a man s image of himself will begin to suffer. Infertile couples end up on
an emotional roller coaster because they begin to live their life in month to month cycles of hope
and disappointment that revolve around ovulation calendars and menstruation.
(www.babycenter.com) They also begin to deal with financial issues because the treatment is
expensive and requires holding off on extra expenses in order to save money.
What are the causes of infertility? All of the cause that will be named were taken from the Major
Causes of Infertility Chart from www.babycenter.com . In the following I will only mention the
condition and the definition but they also provide symptom and solution information. Women:
Condition: Endometriosis This condition, in which endometrial tissue (the uterine lining that sheds
with each monthly period) grows outside the uterus. Condition: Ovulation problems Any condition

The stereotypes created from early Hollywood and the Civil war finish the evil chore of what s

In Julie Dashs film, Daughters of the dust it leaves these false identities behind and brings out the
truth of identity from each character individually. Julie Dash s unique film uses new innovative

Blindspot Doll Studies
Research is a crucial element in many informative texts, it provides numerical evidence that can
convince the reader of an argument, or in the case of Blindspot, make a change in their lives.
Countless research findings were mentioned in the text, but two were particularly moving. There
were the doll studies, conducted by Mamie and Kenneth Clark, and call back rate research, found
by Marianne Bertrand and Sendhil Mullainathan. Both experiments are relevant to today s society
and their results can be helpful to those on a college campus. In the doll studies, African American
children ranging from ages three to seven years old were presented with a White and Black doll in

Essay on The American Mission
Issue one from the McKenna text presents two divergent political philosophies from Humanities
professor Wilfred M. McClay and Historian Howard Zinn regarding the concept of American
exceptionalism. McClay and Zinn provide convincing arguments as they support their contrasting
viewpoints with key examples from American history on the question, Should Americans believe in
a unique American mission? On one hand, McClay offers a belief in the unique American mission
as interconnecting with our Founding Fathers through divine providentialism. On the other hand,
Zinn rejects this notion asserting that restraint from the mythical belief of American exceptionalism
will suppress combative desires. Professor McClay believes that... Show more content on

The ethnic cleansing of Pequot tribesmen by Captain John Mason during the 1630s and the
military excursions into the Philippines, Cuba, and Hispaniola in the late 1800s/early 1900s are
examples Zinn s description of these associated dangers (McKenna Feingold 2011, 13 15). In The
Power and the Glory, Zinn further expounds on Albert Einstein s argument that, Wars will stop
when men refuse to fight by stating American will stop fighting wars when they discard the myth
of American exceptionalism (McKenna Feingold 2011, 18). I believe that McClay and Zinn
provide a persuasive argument elaborating their notion of the validity of America s unique mission.
However, I am inclined to agree with Professor McClay in his assertion in the mythical nature of
American exceptionalism that has promoted social cohesiveness and propelled America as the
beacon of liberty and democracy (McKenna Feingold 2011, 14). The existence of present day
America developed after a period of empirical practices that allowed us to incorporate the positive
qualities of democracy and make note of the negative aspects of wrongfully enforcing democratic
ideals internationally (McKenna Feingold 2011). Since our inception, the invisible hand of divine
providence has directed America to propagate freedom and democracy to all peoples of the world

The Amazing Development Of Communication Tools Essay
It is such a magic. I cannot believe I am talking with you between Japan and the US. My
grandmother said to me when we talked on Skype. Her saying made me realize the marvelous
development of communication tools. As she said, the current technology which is supporting our
communication is developing in unbelievable speed. Besides, such development is supporting a
development of the other fields. We can have a business meeting via video call such a Skype. We
can learn new languages by chatting with native speakers. Communicationand technologies for
communication are foundations for everything. However, are we optimizing such wonderful
equipment or services? We are not properly using such tools because we sometimes are not being
able to correctly behave in our diversified communications. In the primitive era, our ancestors only
can communicate in a face using words from their mouth. After then, they have got the letters,
phone, the internet, and so on in order to communicate with others who were in far away. In my
grandmother s generation, they sent a letter to a person. Sometimes, letters were not delivered.
Comparing that, nowadays, we can talk in a video call. We can feel the others real feeling, tone,
face expression, body languages, and everything. Those developments of communication tools are
apparently transcending traditional common sense that we were familiar with. This must be like a
magic. However, recent communications differ than before. I

The War I Was A War
1914 through 1918, was the time period for this war. There are a lot of people who don t really

general war. The war basically started off as being a military conflict that included a lot of other
countries, for example, many countries of Europe and some other nations throughout the world.
Before World War Iwas named, it was called Great War, and it was also called World
War. The war kind of started out as having a disagreement between two coalitions of European
countries. It also started with a murder that happened in Balkan city of Sarajevo, actually it was an
assassination. Austria Hungary (Heir to the throne) and his wife were murdered and after that
incident, within five weeks, the war kicked off. Nobody wanted the U.S. to even get involved, not
even the president who at that time was Woodrow Wilson, and he definitely wanted to stay out of
the messing that was going on. Everything was good until around the year 1917, the U.S. shipping
from the german submarine was attacked and Mexico was encouraged to invade U.S. and attack.
The Allied Powers included the countries as follows: United Kingdom, France,
Belgium, Serbia, Montenegro, and the Russian Empire. The Central Powers included: Germany

How Did Andy Warhol Influence The Pop Art World
As a profound influence on the twentieth century pop art movement, Andy Warhol ascended to
become a cornerstone in the modern art world. After taking cues from society in the mid twentieth
century, as well as conversing with Muriel Latow, Warhol did what many artists strived to do but
failed. Andy also extracted many of his ideas from other artists and built on them. He put a culture

The death of very popular movie star Marilyn Monroe sparked Warhol s interest to expose the
realities of the pop culture. Monroe was a sex icon, fashion icon, as well as a cultural icon for
the nineteen fifties and sixties. The potent memory of the pathos and mystery of Marilyn s death
with the long lived speculation surrounding it elevated her to the greatest modern star status.
Warhol s paintings participated in the public consolidation (Copplestone 25). Andy exaggerated
the features of Marilyn Monroe that had made her beautiful (Bolton 19). Also, the popularity of
celebrities such as Jackie Kennedy and Elvis Presley soon began to sweep the nation (Wrbican).
Warhol saw these people as icons for the sixties and also saw them as an inspiration to what
would become his new art works. Despite how happy, pretty, or ideal the celebrities seemed on
television, they were disasters in reality and Warhol executed his exposure of these secrets through
pop art. After World War two had ended and the United States had entered the Vietnam War, the
theme of mortality became less shocking to the population than in the years prior. With the
acceptance of such things, Warhol decided to create a series of brutal artwork that would
exemplify the understanding of life and death. His series of death and disaster included paintings of
electric chairs, suicides, and car crashes (Wrbican). Warhol wanted

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy For Insomnia

For those who are seeking treatment without the help of sleeping pills, a form of cognitive
behavioral therapy may be the right method for them. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for
Insomnia, often called CBT I, is an approved method for treating insomnia without the use of
sleeping pills (Cognitive). Focusing on the cognitive aspect of insomnia as a treatment solution
is much like trying to find the underlying cause of what is keeping the individual awake at night.
This type of therapy involves regular meetings and follow ups with a doctor who will closely
evaluate the person s changing sleep habits while making changes as needed to fit that person s
needs until they get to the point where they can sleep regularly. Some changes that are
recommended by the staff of Mayo Clinic may include stimulus control therapy or improving
the sleep environment. Stimulus control therapy is the act of training your mind to associate
your bedroom with sleeping rather than lying awake or working. It may be helpful to not lie in
bed on the phone or watch T.V at night because those could be distractions to the mind that are
keeping the body awake. Improving the sleeping environment can aid the body to get in sleep
mode . Sleeping could be improved by doing simple tasks such as adjusting the room
temperature, making the room darker, or eliminating noise can also put the mind at ease for a
restful night of sleep (Mayo Clinic Staff). CBT is not a quick cure by any means; however, it can
be very successful and long lasting if a person is able to stick with it. A sleep diary is important in
CBT as well so that the doctor can assess the person s changes and they can see the changes as

Descriptive Essay About A New School
A New School Have you ever had to move before? If you have you know it s a scary feeling
having to start all over with friends and join a new school. Early in the morning when we moved

around. Driving away I knew that was the last time I will ever see that house again. A move
from LA to Chicago is a giant move. The weather is different and so are the people. We found
our new extremely awesome house that was so tall and wide that you had to stand a good
distance to see what s on the other side of the house. I wandered in and found myself standing in
a enormous room with a red brick fireplace. I strolled around until I got to the very next floor
where I found a bedroom that I called dibs on! Peering out the window at my Mom and Dad

showing her survival in a male dominated society. She succeeded in building her female identity
and achieved a sense of female attainment by revolutionizing the wild land and struggling for her
equal rights with all that surrounded her. This paper focuses on the feminist thoughts and the

half intelligent as their sister (Cather, 1987, p. 76). John s dying wishes were to keep the land

By leaving Alexandra in charge of the land Cather is showing her beliefs that women are beyond

successful farmers on the divide even after a long sixteen year struggle. Alexandra dealt with

Cinderella And Princess Culture Summary
The Princess Paradox and Cinderella and Princess Culture Authors James Poniewozik and
Peggy Orenstein are both concerned with the increase of princess culture among young girls.
Poniewozik s article The Princess Paradox and Orenstein s article Cinderella and Princess
Culture discuss similar aspects of princess culture that could be potentially harmful to it s
audience. Both Poniewozik and Orenstein take on a feminist perspective in their articles.
Specifically, both authors discuss feminist themes in princess culture but Orenstein focuses on
toddler to pre teen aged girls while Poniewozik is more concerned with specifically teenagers.
Both authors make satirical remarks towards princess culture. Orenstein describes a dentist visit
where she became unhinged after the professional asked her three year old daughter, Would you
like to sit in my special princess throne so I can sparkle your teeth? (326). She describes the
dentists remark as a Betty Boop inflection mocking the high pitched tone in which the dentist
chose to speak to her daughter (326). As a feminist, Orenstein advocates that women must earn
their respect in order to be treated equally. She does not want her daughter, being as young as she
is, to grow up thinking she is entitled to being treated as royalty. Therefore she is insulted by the
mollycoddling her daughter receives simply because she is a little girl. On the other hand,

Only to their disappointment it is only candle wax. Also the black and white faces of the
characters make the people seem cold. This ensures that you do not feel anything for the
characters even if one of them was brutally decapitated. Another problem I had with this movie
was setting. The Nightmare before Christmas , The Corpse Bride , Ed Wood , Sleepy Hollow ,
and Planet of the Apes are all movies directed by Tim Burton. They are all set mostly in the
woods and are all mostly seen as creepy horror movies. In Sleepy Hollow Tim Burton again uses
ideas from his old movies to try and pin point the audiences needs. Only this backfires and makes
his movie seem repetitive and very ordinary. You start to predict what will happen as soon as you
have seen the headless horseman appear time and time again from the tacky fog that surrounds the
woods.
Camera Shots also make the movie repetitive and tacky. When the director wants you to feel fear
for the character he will use a point of view shot. So when the headless horseman is crossing the
bridge to fight Ichabod Crane we see him: a tall, dark figure walking towards us. Yet, we cannot see
Ichabod Crane s face. How do we know that Ichabod Crane isn t laughing at the cheap special
effects? A big close up at the beginning of a substance which resembles blood falling on a piece of
paper is actually hiding the fact that the so called blood came from a candle and

Irony In Oscar Wilde s Quot Essay
Wilde comments on the honesty of the aristocracy of Victorian society through his motif of lies
and deceit while also adding his usual comedic touch. The entire play functions around lies
created to either get out of events like dinner with Algernon s Aunt or get girls like Cecily. Jack
jokingly comments that truth isn t the sort of thing one tells a nice sweet refined girl
(Greenblatt 1711). Algernon adds irony to the play when he brings up false impressions, My
dear Algy, you talk exactly as if you were a dentist. It is very vulgar to talk like a dentist when
one isn t a dentist after he has just held his friends case captive, knowing he was running frantic
over it. Truth shows up in a negative light for the aristocracy again when Algernon says the truth is
rarely pure and never simple (Greenblatt 1703).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Perhaps, one of the greatest takeaways is that the upper class in the play walks away from their
numerous lies and games of deceit with no consequence. Nor do they seem to show remorse or
regret for the lies they ve told. Both Algernon and Jack get the girls they dream of, because the
luxuries and financial status of the elite usually provide them with what they want. Instead of
suffering the normal consequences of deceit, Wilde uses simple self centeredness as Jack s escape
by way of Gwendolyn s instantaneous verdict that Jack probably lied about his name as an excuse
to see her in town more often. In the play, lies become another trivial issue while being manipulated
successfully to achieve happiness for oneself. Coupled with vanity and conceit, the attitude of the
elite in The Importance of Being Earnest imitates the attitudes of the vain Victorian aristocracy
during Wilde s

Lorna was a very accomplished woman but her biggest accomplishments was in 1962. She

has sold more than 50 million records. One of Alice s most well known song is School s out and
I m Eighteen . His music did not skyrocket until the late 60 s early 70 s. He was famous because
his music was indifferent from all of the other stars that compete alongside him. There were
many Rock and Roll stars that had concerts and shows just as Alice did, but he did it a little more
different. Alice s performance in his concerts were scary and loud. He wanted to be an artist that
sang Rock n Roll, but he wanted to put a more gore spin on his style. He wanted to have gore and
scare into his concerts. His music was a blend of metallic style and pop blends. Many people went

Example Of Stereotyping
STEREOTYPING Stereotyping is a common attitude that has been adopted by many people.
Stereotyping means to generalize a whole group of people (nationality, gender, religion,
ethnicity, race etc) based on one or few experiences or having preconceived notions and opinions
about people without sound reasoning. It is like assigning standards to people based on their
gender, race, ethnicity and religion. I believe that this is a basic form of injustice as people are
not being recognized for who they really are. This can also cloud the judgment of people, for
example an experiment was conducted in which a white boy was stealing and a black boy was
also stealing, but the theft of the black boy induced more of a reaction while the white boy just

In Martin Luther King Jr. s Letter from Birmingham Jail King argues the importance of direct
action. King was criticized by many political and religious leaders saying he did not belong in
Birmingham and that his campaign of direct action was untimely and avoidable. Throughout
paragraphs thirteen and fourteen of his letter King uses repetition, and pathos to convey the
importance of direct action to his readers. When King begins talking about the hardships African
Americans went through he uses repetition to show the severity of segregation in the city of
Birmingham. ...when you have seen vicious mobs lynch your mothers...when you have seen hate

Dallas Independent School Foods Case Study
The city of Dallas has been facing an issue of rising food insecurity for many years now. In fact,
it ranks on a national level among the places in the country facing this same issue. Many children
in Dallas Independent School District go day to day unsure of whether they will eat. This kind
lifestyle greatly affects every day activities and personal health. Schools in the DISD provide free
breakfast and lunch for most of the kids that struggle with this issue, however, there is nothing the
district can do during the summer months while classes are out. The Dr. Pepper Snapple Group

the North Texas Food bank. By using volunteers as our source of staffing, we have reduced our
total costs and could allocate more financial resources towards the project.
We are estimating the total cost of this project to be $14,520,060. Roughly $2,926,170 is
expected from ticket sales donated by our partner the Dallas Mavericks. We are asking the Dallas
Chamber of Commerce for half of the remaining balance, which would be $5,796,945. All the

Endangered Elephant Essay
Asian elephants are an endangered animal. Their population is decreasing very quickly. In 2000,
there were more than 100,000 elephants left, but now, in 2017, there are only 35,000 to 40,000 left.
Some of the problems Asian elephants face is habitat loss, ivory poaching and the kidnapping of
young elephants. Luckily, there are many ways you can help to stop them from going extinct,
including donating to places like the Pinnawala ElephantOrphanage, encouraging selective logging,
shutting down ivorymarkets, donating and shunning places that advertise the chance to see a baby
elephant.
The main problem causing Asian elephants to be endangered is habitat loss. People have been
cutting down the tropical forests where the elephants used to live and are building houses in the
valleys and plains. In fact, about 20% of all humans live close to the current habitat of the Asian
elephant. The elephants move to the hills and the remains of the forests, but even then they are
still at risk. Because the elephants are forced into smaller areas, inbreeding may occur. The
elephants are unable to mix with other herds, which causes their genetic material to be too closely
related to that of other elephants in their herd. The migrations of the elephants have also been
disrupted by habitat loss. Dams, coffee and tea plantations, railway lines, and roads break up the
routes the elephants once used on their seasonal migration. Selective logging is one solution to
habitat loss. Selective logging

Differences And Similarities Between Harrison Bergeron And...
Between Harrison Bergeron and 2081, there are many similarities and differences. For one of the
major similarities between these two are that the themes are the same. The theme is stand up for
what you believe in. In 2081, Harrison Bergeron threw his handicaps to the floor, which symbolizes
freedom and independence. In Harrison Bergeron, it states Harrison tore off the straps of his
handicaps like wet tissue paper, the straps were guaranteed to support five thousand pounds. When
he ripped off the five thousand pound handicap, he stood up for being free and different. The
filmmaker leaves this scene in the movie because it was one of the main morals in the story.

James Thurber-Humor in Fiction
James Thurber was one of the most influential and unforgettable writers of his kind. He made
modern day problems seem preventable in the minds of people, and he tried to make them realize
that the problems had to have a source. Thurber wrote of people struggling with day to day life
that was once trouble free and drew his ideas of humanity losing the direction it once had in the
past. He attributed this change to wandering minds and ignorant actions on man s behalf. James
Thurber used his artistic and creative abilities to make a point of humanshortcomings through
ingenious writings and comical sketches. James Oliver Thurber, a satirical, Ohio born writer, was

One of Thurber s choice ways of communicating with the masses was through writing magazine
articles, short stories, essays, and children s books. His uncanny take on his writing usually
brought laughter and enjoyment to its readers with descriptions of wild and ridiculous events
being his number one source of absurdity. Among them were Many Moons, a story of a daughter
of royalty who refused to make herself better after overeating until she was given the moon, and
The Wonderful O, the tale of a pirate who travels to the island of Ooroo to find jewels. When the
pirate leaves empty handed, he banishes all words containing the letter o. The moral to the fairy
tale was words containing that vowel were vital in the world and among the necessary words was
freedom (Morsberger Suppl. 1:612). When it came to more important matters, Thurber had the
views of many of today s modern thinkers, and it was reflected in his work. He saw the human as
more harmful than helpful to the world as a whole. In his Interview with a Lemming, the creature
being interrogated by a scientist calls humans murderous, maladjusted, maleficent, malicious, and
muffle headed. The scientist proceeds to tell him that he agrees with the observation, but he can not
seem to understand why lemmings hurry to the sea to drown themselves. The lemming curtly
replies, How curious. The one thing I don t understand is why you humans don t (Morsberger

Tennessee Williams Presentation Of Desire In A Streetcar...
Explore Tennessee Williams presentation of desire.
Desire is hinted at in the play s title, A Streetcar Named Desire , it became the moving force and
central to the play s development. Desire ultimately carries Blanche to her fate in scene 5.
Tennessee Williams presents desire in many forms but the most prominent and notable being sexual
desire lust. Lust is the main form of desire among the main characters.
Blanche is the character that is mostly associated with desire as she rode a streetcar named Desire
then one called cemeteries . By this Williams is possibly saying that death is the inevitable
destinations for those who allow their worldly desires to lead them. Blanche s experimental
sexual desires were ma de a taboo by her upbringing and culture resulting in her suppressing her
desires. Her then denial of these desires caused her to be driven out of her home town and throw
herself at younger boys. We also learn later in the play that desire is one of her ... Show more

reinforces how her lust has made her to forget the cruelty she induced. Almost narcotized

comparison of drugs and sex is made again when Blanche says your fix is worse than mine which
shows how sexual desire is like an addiction for both sisters. The force of desire drives Stella to

Reflection On City Council Meeting
INTRODUCTION One way to see public administration in action is by attending a city council
meeting, whether it be in an urban or rural area, public administration still has a part in each event.
As Kettl (2018; p. 244) referenced in his book, there is not a civil system that would be sustainable
without strong leadership. This paper will discuss the author s description, observation, and
reflection during a city councilmeeting.
DESCRIPTION
On Monday, October 23, 2017 the author attended Bellevue, Nebraska s city council meeting. The
meeting was called to order right at 6:00 p.m. which ensured all citizens were in their seats. Once it
was called to order, the author noted seeing little people sitting in the community seats. Of those ...

The presenters reply was after they have finished fundraising for the project which they were

October 23, 2017). A second concern the council expressed was parking. The presenters
mentioned having four off street parking spaces, with a handicap included (Bellevue City
Council Meeting, October 23, 2017). However, the council s concern was that if there was a
bigger function at the park the residents living near the park may experience frustration with a
large amount of people parking near their homes. The next concern was met with an abundance
of conversation. One of the city council members pointed out that in the project layout during
the presentation, there was a lack of sidewalks. This was an important issue in order for people
to walk on the sidewalk instead of in the grass. Another city council member noted that would be
another fundraising project due to the high expense of adding a sidewalk next to the street as
well as addition off street parking (Bellevue City Council Meeting, October 23, 2017). This city
council member also stated that they would need to be cautious when asking the public sector to
come up with the funds (Bellevue City Council Meeting, October 23, 2017). However, it was
agreed upon that the city had enough staff and money to pay for the sidewalks next to the

Fashion in the 1920 s Essay
Fashion in the 1920 s
The Roaring Twenties brought many fads and fashion rages. During the 1920 s, Americans were
given the honor of being called the best dressed . Several things contributed to this honor:
Affordable pricing, mass production clothing, the birth of the flapper girl , and rise of fashionable
movie stars that Americans wanted to imitate.
The style and cut of women s clothing during the 1920 s changed drastically. Waistlines dropped
dramatically while hemlines rose scandalously. Turned down hose were no longer black, but beige.
Rouged knees, bobbed hair, and figureless figures characterized the radical flappers . These women
violated many of the rules dictating appropriate clothing and behavior for women. The ... Show

The flapper girl trend peaked in 1926, leaving materials such as silk, chiffons, georgettes, crepes,
and voiles in high demand. Beads, sequins, and feathers also adorned the fashionable dresses.
Coco Chanel, a role model for the flapper, provided many styles, including the popular single
strand of pearls. Corsets were no longer popular, but instead the sexless figure was favored. Scarfs
were often draped over the shoulders if one could not afford a dead fox neck piece. However, the
one thing that distinguished the flapper from anyone else was the bobbed haircut. Although, efforts
were made to revive long hair, the bob remained stylish.
The fashionable flapper remained throughout the 20s, until the craze faded away with the
oncoming 30s. The fads and rages of the flappers left an impression on Americans for years to
come. These radical women, who were considered immoral and distasteful, remain symbolic of the
famous Roaring 20s.
The flapper fashion was borrowed by many of the women who lived in the 1920 s. But as it is
with every fashion craze, there are many different examples. The pictures that follow show some
of the other clothing items that were characteristic of the 1920 s. This beautiful velvet dress and
jacket would have been worn for an evening on the town, as would this satin hat. The purple velvet
dress below also is representative of the period. These photos are courtesy of the museum

Yet there is one issue that is worldwide, which is global warming. Global warming is a colossal problem to the United States and the world that threatens the very existence of humankind; further action must be taken by the United States government in order to minimize and counteract global warming. Global warming is a worldwide epidemic that in large part is directly caused by human activities. In the past 100 years, global temperatures have been rising because of the increasing amount of greenhouse gasses being released into the atmosphere. The increase in ocean levels and in average global temperature is in a large part, due to the U.S. The Washington Post states that even though China has surpassed the U.S. in emissions of CO2 per year, the U.S. far outnumbers any other country in total greenhouse gas emissions released, being responsible for 27% of all CO2 emissions between the years 1850 and 2011; the second largest contributor of CO2 emissions is China, who is responsible for 11% (Mooney, 2015). • 4. What Is The Differences Between The Monarchy, Aristocracy,... In this essay I will be comparing and contrasting monarchy, aristocracy, tyranny, oligarchy, and democracy in Ancient Greece. Monarchy. There are two types of monarchy one is a constitutional monarchy and the other is absolute monarchy. Absolute monarchs are really all powerful, they are able to pass laws and veto any law passed or suggested by politicians, a constitutional monarch has less power and is really only a figurehead as a head of state. In Ancient Greece there were not really a lot of monarchies, there was of course Sparta with its unique two King system. The two Kings come from the direct descendants of the founders of Sparta, they weren t really absolute monarchs because they had the ephors stopping them from taking too many decisions that could be harmful to the state (Cartwright, 2013). There were other monarchies in the times of Ancient Greece, most notably Macedonia, that went on to conquer Greece in 336 BCE (Brand, n.d. ,p36). Aristocracy. This was the rule of a few elite people. They were always the richest people and what we would call today the Lords or Ladies. They were the highest of the upper classes. This would have given them a good chance of perks and probably a good way of becoming wealthier (Mahabal, Joshi, 2017). Tyranny. A tyranny could be described as a government that would be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Ancient Greece there were two specГ¬fic times when Athens was an Oligarchy. In 411 BCE the oligarchy of 400 took power by overthrowing the assembly, it seems they were a little tyrannical in the way they acted, and were overthrown by the oligarchy of 5000, who were more moderate (Cartwright, 2013). In 404 BCE Athens was defeated in Sicily and then there was yet another power change to the oligarchy of the 30 tyrants, this was a bad time for Athens as these people were really cruel summarily executing people (Cartwright, ... • 5. Themes in Hamlet Essay Themes in Hamlet Within the Shakespearean tragic drama Hamlet there are a number of themes. Literary critics find it difficult to agree on the ranking of the themes. This essay will present the themes as they are illustrated in the play and let the reader prioritize them. Michael Neill in None Can Escape Death, the Undiscovered Country interprets the main theme of the play as a prolonged meditation on death : How we respond to the ending of Hamlet both as revenge drama and as psychological study depends in part on how we respond to [the most important underlying theme] of the play that is, to Hamlet as a prolonged meditation on death. The play is virtually framed by two encounters with the dead: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What is the central, unifying action of Hamlet? Revenge. (43 44) R.A. Foakes in The Play s Courtly Setting explains the burden of revenge which the protagonist must carry for the duration of the play: Perhaps the most terrible feature of his recognition of corruption everywhere is his recognition of it in himself too; where others deceive he must deceive too, where others act he must put on an antic disposition, where the inmost desires and passions of others must be revealed, so must his own passions be roused. And where there is no legal punishment for his father s death, he must stoop, driven by the universal wrong, and being thus be netted round with villainies , to revenge. He must share the corruption of others in spite of his nobility, and recognize in himself the common features, we are arrant knaves all. (53) Marchette Chute in The Story Told in Hamlet describes the opening scene of the drama, which introduces the theme of supernatural influence on the present: The story opens in the cold and dark of a winter night in Denmark, while the guard is being changed on the battlements of the royal castle of Elsinore. For two nights in succession, just as the bell strikes the hour of one, a ghost has appeared on the battlements, a figure dressed in complete armor and with a face like that of the dead king of Denmark, Hamlet s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Terre Haute lies in an area described as a humid, subtropical climate, a Cfa on the Koppen Letter Code System. This area is a mild, mid latitude climate characterized by warm to hot summers, precipitation with a summer maximum, and mild winter temperatures. Both Berkeley and Terre Haute lie within relatively the same latitudes, however, Berkeley lies in an area stabilized by the poleward migration of the subtropical high and relatively cool water of the Pacific Ocean (Hess, 2013). This brings dry weather to Berkeley. Terre Haute, however, does not benefit from this stability, and continues to experience precipitation throughout the summer months. In the areas of the Eastern United States, this effect is also contributed to by the influence of tropical cyclones. Berkeley, according to www.usclimatedata.com, has its highest precipitation levels during December thru February, which is typical of Csa climates (Hess, 2013). This peak of rainfall that is unbalanced with a typical increase of water demand during summer greatly stresses the water budget, and can result in a sever water deficit during summer months. Californians struggled with this through the summer of 2014, and according to an article by National Geographic, California will struggle with a water deficit of the amount necessary to provide water to 1.5 million homes. This is not only due to the climate of the region, but as it specifically applies to Berkeley, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. My First Broken Heart Of Love It is true love can become atrocious and unbearable. It happens too many times than it should happen. I have experienced the beauty of love and also the tragic of love. I was barely a teenager and I thought I was in love with this boy. His name was Noah. I should emphasize on the past tense was because it s apart of the tragedy. Noah and I were best friends for two years. We met each other in 7th grade. He had moved to Maryland from Texas with his father, step mother, step brother, and dog. Our relationship bloomed like a gorgeous rose then withered and eventually died. I was barely a teenager and I experienced my first broken heart. Lovesucks. At first, when I saw the new kid in my math class, I thought that he would have a hard time fitting it. The first thing anyone would notice about this kid was how incredibly thin he was. He was severely underweight and looked very anorexic. The second thing you would notice about this kid is his protruding front teeth. His front teeth and comical ears made him looked like a rat. I knew this kid would get picked on immediately. Unfortunately, it did happen, by an overweight kid. The overweight name was Garrett. Surprisingly, Noah and Garrett became friends. Since Garrett was friends with one of my friends, he introduced Noah to our group of friends. That s how our relationship started. Noah was also in my gym class along with math. • 9. The Prospect Of A Two State Nation Solution For Israel... The Israel Palestine conflict is one of the most long term, pressing, and largely confounding social, political, and national quandaries of our age. Since we have been moving with surprising velocity into the vast horizons of globalization, the conflict has built up tremendous momentum and has called into question the adequacy of our current attempts at coming to a peaceful resolution that can simultaneously and successfully address both sides of the struggle. The purpose of this paper has been to understand the prospect of a two state nation solution for Israeland Palestine. The discussion arises a retrospective view of the context behind the present analysis. We begin with a discourse that informs the reader of the historical narrative between the Jewish inhabitants of Israel and the Palestinians who also seek to live in the lands which comprise Israel. At the forefront of the discussion are some key issues such as trends in Israeli settlementexpansion over time, the manner in which these settlements create political challenges towards the prospect of a two state solution, and the fragmentation of power within Palestinian political parties which inhibit the opportunity for proper negotiations amongst the two parties. Finally, we delve into a discussion on nationalism, it s importance in the discussion of a two state solution, and the challenges posed when trying to formulate US Foreign Policy towards the matter. • 10. The Speech Of Steve Jobs Speeches come in all shapes and sizes, some fantastic, some horrible, some motivational and some inspirational. The one detail I can tell you there is always a few that will linger and stick around in your head. These speeches go through history as being remembered and studied for decades. A few that come to mind happen to be I have a dream by Martin Luther King, Never give up...Don t ever give up, by Jimmy Valvano and You ve got to find what you love , by Steve Jobs . Each and every one of these speeches was written by men who were challenged to make difficult decisions in their lives which would inadvertently affect their futurein one way or another. The most current speech of the four is Steve Jobs You ve got to find what you love. His speech targets college graduates of the 21st century. After I read Steve Jobs speech, I understood the power of his words. At the beginning, he stated that he, unlike the graduates, never graduated from college; he dropped out after 6 months. Additionally, he reveals information about himself throughout the speech, such as being adopted, and the fascination for calligraphy. At the age of 20, Steve and a friend created Apple, a computer company in his parent s garage, later to be fired from his own company. But of course that did not stop Jobs; he ended up creating two more companies called NeXT and Pixar. The Marrow Of Tradition And House Of Mirth Krista Young 05/11/2015 Thought and Society Chestnutt/Wharton Essay Assignment The Marrow of Tradition and House of Mirth Class, gender, and race are just a few of the classifications that have directly impacted one s financial, legal, and personal freedoms throughout history. There are several examples in Charles Waddell Chesnutt s The Marrow of Tradition and Edith Wharton s House of Mirth that will shed light to the many situations in which the characters find themselves that display the sort of inequality that was quite common in the 20th century. In the case of The Marrow Tradition, white supremacy and racism are major themes and while some of the characters are sympathetic towards the African Americans in Wellington, North Carolina, there are many that are uncomfortable with the idea of white and black equality in any sense. It is Major Carteret s personal belief that no two races can live together except in relation of superior and inferior (Chesnutt 31). He also believes that African Americans were not educated or experienced enough to be able to participate in specific things such as government. It did not help that African Americans were said to have criminal tendencies either (Chesnutt 31). Many people share in his particular views, two such people are Captain McBane and General Belmont. In this aspect, human beings are not any different from plants or animals, but in contrast to them they do not only act out of instinct. Additionally, they use their reasoning to determine whether they will be able to care sufficiently for their children (Malthus, p. 2). Malthus states that there are certain checks on population and points out that there is no society without any check applied. An unchecked population increases in a geometrical ratio, what means that it doubles itself every twenty five years. Instead, the available food does not increase geometrically, but gradually diminishes, because of the limited amount of fertile land. In contrast to the population, the agricultural production, under favourable circumstances, is able to only increase in an arithmetical ratio (Malthus, p. 6). A gap between population growth and the amount of food available rises. As a result, to further increase the food supply, it is necessary to improve the quality of the soil (Malthus, p. 4). Malthus points out that there is still land which is not cultivated, even in Europe, and that especially in this region it is possible to enhance the soil quality due to the progress of the industrialization, but it will be gradually diminishing (Malthus, p. ... Henry Tibben represented hundreds of farmers growing up along the Dutch and German border in independent Bentheim county. He firmly believed that hard work, religious freedom and the spirit of man could create a superior world for all people. To that aim, he took full advantage of his schooling, mastering not only reading, but writing and accounting. Optimism filled his soul like the fresh paintings hanging in the museums. He expected the future will harbor better things than just quiet farming. In that spirit, he never accepted the limits of digging peat or milking cows, or practicing a religion he did not profess to. His exploring mind always asked questions, often to the annoyance of his mentors, building a dream for himself and his descendants that only America could foster. A test of Henry s grit came during the 1670 s when a dark spirit spread across Holland. French King Louis sent legions of horses, cannons and nights across the Rhine River into the flat, peat fields of the Dutch frontier. Other Catholic allies soon joined in the rampage, sending Protestants into a panic. According to Palmer, Dunford and Akin (2009) Getting people to buy in may depend upon what it is that they are buying into: whether they perceive it as favorable to them and whether the changehad been adequately justified to them (p.302). If it was a small change, it doesn t take much to get people to buy in, but if it is a large change it will take some work. The first strategy that I would use as a change leader to communicate a change is to discuss the need for the change. I believe that if people can see why the process needs to changed, it will open them up to the possibility of a change. I have seen a lot of process done wrong or a slow way because it was how it has always been done in that organization. If someone would have come into that organization and told them that the amount of time they were wasting and showed them the new way, I think the organization would buy in. The second strategy that I would use for communicating the change is to provide everyone with accurate information on the change, it would include how the change is going to happen and how it will affect everyone. I will only send out information that I feel they need to know so I do not overload them. Palmer, Dunford and Akin (2009) state information overload is even more problematic in companies where participants are already in receipt of a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Phenomena like cognitive capture are discussed what means a unknown shift of the driver s attention towards the HUD. However, this illness can be cured through pharmaceutical measures, cognitive behavioral therapy, and/or complementary and alternative medicines. For those who are seeking treatment without the help of sleeping pills, a form of cognitive behavioral therapy may be the right method for them. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia, often called CBT I, is an approved method for treating insomnia without the use of sleeping pills (Cognitive). Focusing on the cognitive aspect of insomnia as a treatment solution is much like trying to find the underlying cause of what is keeping the individual awake at night. This type of therapy involves regular meetings and follow ups with a doctor who will closely evaluate the person s changing sleep habits while making changes as needed to fit that person s needs until they get to the point where they can sleep regularly. Some changes that are recommended by the staff of Mayo Clinic may include stimulus control therapy or improving the sleep environment. Stimulus control therapy is the act of training your mind to associate your bedroom with sleeping rather than lying awake or working. It may be helpful to not lie in bed on the phone or watch T.V at night because those could be distractions to the mind that are keeping the body awake. Improving the sleeping environment can aid the body to get in sleep mode . Sleeping could be improved by doing simple tasks such as adjusting the room temperature, making the room darker, or eliminating noise can also put the mind at ease for a restful night of sleep (Mayo Clinic Staff). CBT is not a quick cure by any means; however, it can be very successful and long lasting if a person is able to stick with it. In addition, the nanoparticles contained an iron oxide coated О± Fe core and a PVP surface layer. Also, the clay polymer interactions made PVP not only adsorb on the external surface but also intercalate into the interlayer space of Mt particles, developing a polymer barrier on the clay mineral surfaces. • 35. Descriptive Essay About A New School A New School Have you ever had to move before? If you have you know it s a scary feeling having to start all over with friends and join a new school. Early in the morning when we moved made the nice peaceful weather cold and rainy. The feeling sent shivers down my spine as if there was a thunderstorm. Sweat trickled down my back. I was so scared to move that my teeth were chattering. First I ran over to my neighbors for one last Goodbye! Then out of the blue the moving truck was all packed so I scurried back into the house that used to be ours and peered around. Driving away I knew that was the last time I will ever see that house again. A move from LA to Chicago is a giant move. The weather is different and so are the people. We found our new extremely awesome house that was so tall and wide that you had to stand a good distance to see what s on the other side of the house. I wandered in and found myself standing in a enormous room with a red brick fireplace. I strolled around until I got to the very next floor where I found a bedroom that I called dibs on! Peering out the window at my Mom and Dad unpacking the car, so far down they appeared like mini figures playing with Hot wheels. My mom came in and asked me Do you guys like this house? My brother and I responded in unison This place is AWESOME! I screamed to my brother, George, in excitement Look at the rooms they are so big and cool! Follow me this way. One similarity between Good Enough and The Quinceanera Text is the resolution. Both stories have a resolution in which even they do not get what they originally want, they are happy anyway. In Good Enough Dori wants a particular brand of shirt. She ends up getting a fake. At first she is upset, but then learns to love and appreciate the gift. An example is But it s the best present I ever got. I walked away feeling good enough. This quote is significant because the line shows Dori is now grateful for her gift. It exemplifies women s equality, represented by the main character, Alexandra, by showing her survival in a male dominated society. John even stated the boys were not as half intelligent as their sister (Cather, 1987, p. 76). John s dying wishes were to keep the land going and to never leave even when times were tough and that is exactly what Alexandra did. By leaving Alexandra in charge of the land Cather is showing her beliefs that women are beyond capable of being in charge and making decisions without men. She built her own empire by turning the untamed land into prosperous country side and she became one of the most successful farmers on the divide even after a long sixteen year struggle. Alexandra dealt with criticism not only from other farmers but even from her own brother s. Lou turned to his brother. This is what comes of letting a woman meddle in business, he said bitterly. Poniewozik s article The Princess Paradox and Orenstein s article Cinderella and Princess Culture discuss similar aspects of princess culture that could be potentially harmful to it s audience. Both Poniewozik and Orenstein take on a feminist perspective in their articles. Specifically, both authors discuss feminist themes in princess culture but Orenstein focuses on toddler to pre teen aged girls while Poniewozik is more concerned with specifically teenagers. Both authors make satirical remarks towards princess culture. Orenstein describes a dentist visit where she became unhinged after the professional asked her three year old daughter, Would you like to sit in my special princess throne so I can sparkle your teeth? (326). She describes the dentists remark as a Betty Boop inflection mocking the high pitched tone in which the dentist chose to speak to her daughter (326). As a feminist, Orenstein advocates that women must earn their respect in order to be treated equally. She does not want her daughter, being as young as she is, to grow up thinking she is entitled to being treated as royalty. Therefore she is insulted by the mollycoddling her daughter receives simply because she is a little girl. On the other hand, Poniewozik uses the film 13 Going on 30 to describe how ridiculously ... Repetition is the key to an ultimately predictable film. Just as in any other film we see a substance with a resemblance to blood fall onto a piece of paper. This tells our minds the movie will have elements of horror. Then two hands, male and female, clasp. A headless horseman then appears decapitating an innocent man on the run in the woods. This ensures that you do not feel anything for the characters even if one of them was brutally decapitated. Another problem I had with this movie was setting. The Nightmare before Christmas , The Corpse Bride , Ed Wood , Sleepy Hollow , and Planet of the Apes are all movies directed by Tim Burton. They are all set mostly in the woods and are all mostly seen as creepy horror movies. In Sleepy Hollow Tim Burton again uses ideas from his old movies to try and pin point the audiences needs. Only this backfires and makes his movie seem repetitive and very ordinary. You start to predict what will happen as soon as you have seen the headless horseman appear time and time again from the tacky fog that surrounds the woods. Camera Shots also make the movie repetitive and tacky. When the director wants you to feel fear for the character he will use a point of view shot. So when the headless horseman is crossing the bridge to fight Ichabod Crane we see him: a tall, dark figure walking towards us. Yet, we cannot see Ichabod Crane s face. The entire play functions around lies created to either get out of events like dinner with Algernon s Aunt or get girls like Cecily. Jack jokingly comments that truth isn t the sort of thing one tells a nice sweet refined girl (Greenblatt 1711). Algernon adds irony to the play when he brings up false impressions, My dear Algy, you talk exactly as if you were a dentist. It is very vulgar to talk like a dentist when one isn t a dentist after he has just held his friends case captive, knowing he was running frantic over it. Truth shows up in a negative light for the aristocracy again when Algernon says the truth is rarely pure and never simple (Greenblatt 1703).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead of suffering the normal consequences of deceit, Wilde uses simple self centeredness as Jack s escape by way of Gwendolyn s instantaneous verdict that Jack probably lied about his name as an excuse to see her in town more often. In 2000, there were more than 100,000 elephants left, but now, in 2017, there are only 35,000 to 40,000 left. Some of the problems Asian elephants face is habitat loss, ivory poaching and the kidnapping of young elephants. Luckily, there are many ways you can help to stop them from going extinct, including donating to places like the Pinnawala ElephantOrphanage, encouraging selective logging, shutting down ivorymarkets, donating and shunning places that advertise the chance to see a baby elephant. The main problem causing Asian elephants to be endangered is habitat loss. People have been cutting down the tropical forests where the elephants used to live and are building houses in the valleys and plains. In fact, about 20% of all humans live close to the current habitat of the Asian elephant. The elephants move to the hills and the remains of the forests, but even then they are still at risk. Because the elephants are forced into smaller areas, inbreeding may occur. The elephants are unable to mix with other herds, which causes their genetic material to be too closely related to that of other elephants in their herd. The migrations of the elephants have also been disrupted by habitat loss. Dams, coffee and tea plantations, railway lines, and roads break up the routes the elephants once used on their seasonal migration. Selective logging is one solution to habitat loss.
