2.Literary Precis: In the novel One hundred years of solitude by Gabriel Marquez Garcia, he
suggests that our fate is written and inevitable. He supports this claim by showing multiple
generations do the same mistakes that their previous generation made. He also supports this by
stating that the Buendia family had there fate written all along and was not able to avoid it by any
means. The author s purpose of this novel is to entertain and inform the reader in order to get
across that our fate is written down even before we are born. The author uses an observational tone
with his intellectually capable audience.

U.s. Federal Tax Law
A Federal Tax Law comprises of statutory provisions, administrative support and court decisions
in certain cases. The first and foremost task of any Federal Tax Law is raising revenue for Federal
and various state governments to absorb the cost of government operations. The role of social,
economic, equity and political factors couldn t be ignored while discussing various tax
consequences during particular budget period. Nevertheless, the amount of revenue raised through
this method decides the amount of services that the government can afford to provide. The forum
topics for this week are explained in following broad heads:
Revenue generated through tax receipts ideally should exceed annual costs on various government
operations. Moreover, the economic considerations involving amendment of Internal Revenue
Codes for various depreciation deductions for purchase of business property and research

contributions by employees as well as private companies. The equity considerations enable
individuals or corporations to avoid the effect of double taxation on their taxable income. This
could be necessarily ensured by deducting state and local taxes from Gross Income. The credit or
deduction for certain foreign taxes and deductions for dividend received by corporations to avoid

Pros And Cons Of Health Care Reform
Introduction: The topic of discussion is the fairness of an individual mandated to purchase health
insurance. It was one of the most argumentative subjects in U.S. politics: the federal health care law
s requirement that everybody has health insurance or pays a fine. Supporters of this debate, argue
that it s fundamental to make health care more affordable and available to everyone.
Those against the mandate say a law that forces people to purchase anything, as well as health
insurance, disturbs promises of personal freedom protected by the Constitution. Opponents say, it
also makes health care more expensive and ineffective.
Reconstructions of Arguments:
A. It is the conclusion of Karen Davenport that it is the key to reform. Should everyone ... Show

In the second article, Michael F. Cannon argues no: premiums will rise according to his article
asking should everyone be required to have health insurance. He even tells us if the mandate
were constitutional; it would still be a bad idea. Some of his reasoning s for this is not a good
plan is that the mandate will increase premiums. The mandate s greatest fabrication is the idea
that it promotes personal responsibility. He explains that supporters want a mandate so it can
keep them from being responsible. Here s how this will happen, by the federal law promotion of
irresponsibility by allowing healthy people to wait until they get sick to buy coverage. He argues
this is selfishness forcing others to bear the cost of ones decision.
I believe in the importance for each American to have the option for health insurance. As a nurse,
I have seen many cases of people that did not seek medical attention due to they could not afford
health care. I believe that I should support article #1 in regards to health care and it should be
available and affordable to all citizens. The Affordable Care Act is meant to address a lack of
access and high costs. The requirement of health insurance is not only fair, but it is desperately

What Would Childhood Be Like Without Mickey Mouse And...
What would childhood be like without Mickey Mouse and Cinderella? Disney is a genre that has
an uncontainable exposure. Every child in America is familiar with Disney in one way or another
because Disney manifests itself in countless different ways that capture the attention of a wide
spectrum of audiences. One may be familiar with Disney movies, television shows, theme parks,
toys, or numerous other representations.
Perhaps the most well known Disney creations are films. Disney began producing movies in the
late 1930s and has been unstoppable in the film industry ever since. Some are regarded as classics,
such as Cinderella, Mary Poppins, Bambi, and Peter Pan. Some of the company s newest
productions are equally as popular and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That value can be derived from Belle falling in love with a beast, even though he did not have the
typical aesthetic qualities of a prince. A majority of Disney films rely heavily on pathos, as this
technique encourages readers to invest in the storyline and become more interested in the outcome
of characters endeavors. Finding Nemo, for example, demonstrates this as the protagonist, a young
fish named Nemo, gets lost, and his father does everything and anything he can to find him and
bring him back home safely. The second most well known manifestation of Disney is the Disney
Channel on television. While the purpose of the television shows is similar to that of the movies,
they are different in that comedic elements are introduced more heavily in the television shows.
Each episode has a conflict and often the characters make poor choices in solving their conflict, but
at the end of the thirty minute time slot, the characters have simultaneously learned a valuable
lesson with the resolution of the conflict. This structure is universal throughout a majority of their
shows, including That s so Raven, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, and in newer hits such as
Good Luck Charlie. The audience is primarily children, which is indisputable by the use of childish
humor found in the scripts and the simple life lessons that are taught. The rhetorical appeals most
commonly used are pathos and ethos. The adult

Essay on The All American Girls Professional Baseball League
The All American Girls Professional Baseball League
Before we told our daughters that they could be anyone, or anything they wanted to be, we told
them that they could only be what was acceptable for women to be, and that they could only do
things that were considered ladylike. It was at this time, when the nation was frenzied with the
business of war, that the women of the All American Girls Professional BaseballLeague decided
that they could do and be whatever it was that they chose. These women broke free of the
limitations that their family and society had set for them, and publicly broke into what had been an
exclusively male sport up until that time. To understand the significance of the league (which will...

Suddenly women were being called from their kitchens to work in the factories, being told that it
was their patriotic duty. The famous Rosie the Riveter image arose from this movement. Rosie
became a new image for women, being portrayed as strong, tough, and attractive. It was from this
very image that the idea for the league was born. The league was the brainchild of Philip K.
Wrigley, president of the Wrigley chewing gum company, and owner of the Chicago Cubs
National League baseball team. Wrigley was concerned with the future of baseball. The major
leagues had already lost more than half of their players to the military. The minor leagues were
even harder hit. By the start of the 1943 season, more than 3,000 minor leaguers had joined the
service or the war effort. Only nine of the nations 26 minor leagues had enough men left to play.
Aside from this reason, there was concern over the continuation of baseball by several public
figures, including President Roosevelt. It was thought that because of the long hours and
demanding work of the war effort that it was important for the American people to have a way to
blow off steam. In the fall of 1942, Wrigley assigned a three man team from the Cubs organization
to look into developing a professional baseball league for women. His theory

Forensic Career Essay
With the new age of technology, solving violent crimes such as murder, physical abuse, and
kidnapping have become much easier to solve thanks to forensic evidence. Forensic has solved
thousands of crimes and cold cases, some notable cases are the Green River Killer, the cold case
murder of Krystal Beslanowitch, and Leanne Tirenan to name a few. I took a personality quiz on
16peronalitys.com, and my results indicated that a forensic scientist would be perfect for my
personality. I think job is cool because they find evidence, examine clues, and work with
interesting appliances. One of the main jobs of a forensic scientist is to look for clues. Sometimes,

Firstly, according to Forensic Magazine, No matter which glove is used, they can all potentially
leak or become punctured or torn. No glove can offer 100% protection either as permeation and
degradation take their toll during use. This means there is no glove that can fully protect your
hand against blood and saliva. Also UV light (Which they use a lot to examine fingerprints and
other things) can burn the retina. This can be very serious and you may go blind. Also you only
make $55,730 a year, which is only $31, 800, more than poverty level. I collect a lot of expensive
items, so this may not be enough to feed my obsessions. After all the problems there are some
good things about being a forensic scientist such as right now, the hire rate is higher than
normal, more hire rates means more jobs available. In 2010 there were 14,010 forensic scientists
in the U.S. which isn t very many, but according to BLS, the growth rate for the job will go up
by 27% through 2015 2020. Also you only need a bachelor s degree to have the education
requirements to become a forensic scientist. This means I will only have to go through two years
of collage. As I said before, forensic scientists are the people who catch all the murderers, burglars,
and other corrupt people. More criminals off the street, the more protected people

My Dream Job At The Nike Outlet
As people grow from their adolescent years, to their adult years, one of the hardest ideas they
have to come up with is what their future will look like. Many are set on the idea of being rich,
having a nice house and car, and having the luxury life. But in reality, very few are actually like
that. As a junior in high schoolI started to look for a part time job as i was interested in the aspect
of money. My dream job since I was about 8 was to work at the Nike outlet in Centralia,
Washington. So long story short, I applied and applied over and over and eventually got the call
during August 2015. Even though working an already busy schedule was a definite struggle, I

Cost can also depend on if you attend a two year school to get your basic classes out of the way.
The average cost of a bachelor s degree at a public four year school would be $22,261, compared
to a private school where the price jumps to $43,289. Again, the cost depends on what school
you attend. Because of my interest in continuing an athletic career on the baseball field, where I
attend school is limited. With my interest in being both on the academic and athletic fields, my
choices are narrowed. If I were to choose my perfect path it would be attending a two year school
to get my basic studies done cheaper, and then after those two years, I would like to attend a four
year school to finish up my degree in business. Many of the requirements to get into the schools I
would look at attending require a high school diploma and then specific requirements for each
school after that. With what I have done as a student in the classroom, I have met or exceeded
some requirements to receive admission into colleges. With the training that I hope to receive
while attending school to get my bachelor s in business, I hope to receive many skills that are
needed, and then use those and the skills that I already have, to garner a job in the field of
business. Skills typically needed to be in the sales management profession include leadership and

Ray Charles Music Influence
Ray Charles music was a combination of all gospel, blues and jazz music which has shaped and
inspired many songs and artists up until today. As Ray became a more experienced artist that
had been known for a while he appealed to a young audience who were more accepting of black
young artists unlike some older people who were against artists of other races. By the time he
had fully identified his music style he found that having feminine backup vocals best suited his
deep, gruff voice. This is shown in many of his later songs like Hit the road Jack . Rays music
was very much influenced by what he was feeling and topics that he felt strongly about. Ray was
lucky, compared to many other black artists because around his time people were very narrow

The Untouchable By Thomas L. Friedman
The Untouchable by Thomas L. Friedman speaks about the world being flat, which is the
stunning rise of middle classes all over the world (pg. 323). He explains how the American
society is becoming global. This globalization that is occurring in today s society is leading
children in America to have a competing mindset against cultures such as the Chinese. We have
to begin to think wise and know what route we have to take in life in order to flourish or survive.
There will plenty of jobs out there; however, they will only be open to those people with the right
knowledge, self motivation, ideas and skill. There are already some people who have begun to
think globally, and this is a great start because we must have the right knowledge... Show more

This means that in a flat world, an American job is open to everyone not just an American. It also
means that in a flat world the homework one must do has to be correct. Therefore, we need to
look at jobs that are always going to be around even when technology begins to take over. We
must become an untouchable! Although, in India an untouchable is considered a person of low
class, Mr. Friedman defines an untouchable as those people whose jobs cannot be outsourced
(pg.325). He also goes on to give two categories of jobs that will be considered untouchables and
one category that will be considered touchable. They are the following: 1) Special or Specialized
jobs, 2) localized and anchored jobs, and 3) old middle jobs. Special or specialized jobs are
those that require skill, have a global market and command global wages, such as singers and
basketball players. A localized or anchored job is one that occurs in a set location. This means
that those who obtain these jobs, such as a barber, has knowledge about the location he/she is in,
and has personal one on one contact with his/her consumers and etc. These two categories of jobs
will boom. On the other hand, old middle jobs, such as account payable clerks, are in trouble.
Friedman does not believe that these jobs are ready for the competition that will arise in the near
future and will be stranded on

Guernica by Pablo Picasso Essay
Guernica by Pablo Picasso
In 1937, Pablo Picasso painted Guernica, oil on canvas. The Republican Spanish government
commissioned the mural for the 1937 World Fair in Paris. Guernica is a large mural, twenty six
feet wide and eleven feet tall, and was placed at the entrance to Spain s pavilion. Picasso did not do
any work after receiving the commission until reading of the bombing of the Basque village of
Guernica, in Spain. It was that attack, perpetrated by the German Luftwaffe, that inspired him.
Guernica, however, is not a complete depiction of that event. In Guernica, Picasso masterfully
conveys the suffering of the Basque people and the tragedy of war. He seeks not to report on every
detail of the bombing, but only to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the extreme right, a woman is falling and has not yet hit the ground. Further left, a woman is
picking herself up after falling. The horse in the center is fatally wounded and will soon die. To
the far left, the child in his mother s arms has already died, and so has the warrior whose head rests
at the bottom of the mural. But again, the strong right to left movement arises from the direction in
which the subjects are looking.
Guernica is monochromatic to make its imagery more powerful. Lack of color keeps the viewer
focused on the subject matter at hand, as well as keeping the mural cold, which agrees with its
general theme of injustice in war. Also, Picasso s flat imagery does not distract the viewer from
concentrating on imagery. The viewer is given no other choice than to concentrate on the subject
matter of Guernica and ponder it s meaning. The flat, grayscale images generalize the imagery and
contribute to the general theme of unnecessary suffering and tragedy.
At the extreme right of Picasso s mural, a woman is falling from a burning building. Flames
appear to be spewing from the top of that building. The flames consist triangles with different
values of gray. The same lighttriangles are coming from the woman s dress. Her arms flail
upwards as she falls, and it is her fall that draws the eye downward and moves the viewer through
the work. Below lies the woman picking herself up off the

Dinkytown and experience the whole gamut of local, ma and pa enterprises grocers, sundry

entrepreneurship but their histories are immortalized in the wistful memories of many who

Living Learning Communities
Overall consensus on living learning communities is resoundingly positive from both the students
who take part in them and the colleges that administer these programs. In terms of the past
research, LLCs benefit students in a variety of ways. As described by multiple students in a
conducted interview, LLCs provide a home away from home by creating a sense of hearth that is
unparalleled to anything else found on campus (Brower, 2010). This creation of a specific type of
environment that feels welcoming to the students helps ease the transition from the experiences of

The head administers and creators of the NSLLP, Dr. Karen Inkelas and Dr. Keith Brower both
occupational researchers and professors at the University of Virginia and the University of

field of living learning communities. Launched in 2001, the NSLLP is a survey tool which assesses
how participation, or lack thereof, in a living learning program/community influences the social,
academic, and developmental paths of colleges students. The survey, which is based on previous
literature on LLCs, takes in inputs such as a student s demographics or high school achievements as
well as various environmental factors. These factors, such as the student s major, peer and teacher
interactions, and extracurricular activities are all taken into consideration by the administers of the
survey. The algorithm then outputs the percent chance of dropout risk, their sense of belonging,
and and appreciation of diversity among other things (Brower, 2004). The NSLLP was
administered to both students in and not in a living learning community in order to accurately
gauge the effects that LLCs have on a student. The study, which was repeated once in 2007 and
again in 2014, has become the cornerstone of the majority of research done in the the field of

The Rule Of Law And The Law Of The Land
This was a fun topic to research. I had a rough time determining if I should define the RULE of
LAW or look at its history and how it was developed through our constitution to the laws that
govern us today. After all the supremacy clause in our Constitution says This Constitution, and the
Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or
which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the
Land. After going to many websites researching a definition that I could use to start I quickly
discovered that the RULE OF LAW meant something different to each of the authors of the
websites and while they were all meaningful none of them encompassed what I predetermined it
should be until I reached the one definition that really jumped out at me is: Rule of law refers to an
end state in which all individuals and institutions, public and private, and the state itself are held
accountable to the law, which is supreme. Laws must be consistent with international human rights
norms and standards, legally certain, legally transparent, drafted with procedural transparency, and
publicly promulgated. This end state requires equal enforcement and equality before the law,
independent adjudication of the law, fairness in the application of the law, and avoidance of
arbitrariness. Access to justice the ability of people to seek and obtain a remedy through informal
or formal institutions of justice is a mutually

Warning about the Sig (2 Tailed) value When you are computing Pearson s r, significance is a
messy topic. When you have small samples, for example only a few participants, moderate
correlations may misleadingly not reach significance. When you have large samples, for example
many participants, small correlations may misleadingly turn out to be significant. Some
researchers think that significance should be reported but perhaps should receive less focus
when it comes to Pearson s r. So what about the scatterplot? You can find your scatterplot in your
output file. It will look something like the graph below. You will see a bunch of dots. Your
scatterplot can tell you about the relationship between variables, just like Pearson s r. With it, you
can determine the strength and direction of the relationship between variables. Relationship
strength Try to imagine a line that connects the dots in your scatterplot. Is this an easy or difficult
task? This task can help you determine the strength of the relationship between your two
variables. If your variables have a strong relationship, it will be easy for your to imagine a line
connecting all of the dots. For example, in our example scatterplots, the dots seem to go together to
form a straight line. However, some scatterplots do not look like this. With some scatterplots, the
dots are scattered about so

was not an obvious enough cause to say that Crick and Watson stole her notes. For these reasons it

Nasal mucoadhesive is the most recent, efficient and sophisticated drug delivery systems in the
market and one of the topics that underline the focus of attention of many research and
development institutions, comparing to the convenient oral administration this delivery system has
showed better pharmacokinetic parameters with increasing the bioavailability and prolonging the
residence time with a faster onset of action, adding the other advantages which mainly raised due to
overcome the disadvantage of the oral administration such as avoiding the first pass effect and
bypass the gastrointestinal tract and solve the decreased in the residence time which mostly result
in less absorption and less effective dose.
Not only the oral route but even comparing the new system with parenteral route it shows a rapid
onset of action as the drugs delivered directly to the systemic circulation.

Procrastination is Synonymous with Hesitation
Procrastination as Hesitation: A Synonymous Definition Procrastination is synonymous with
hesitation, as this is a process by which people hesitate to complete a task rather than finishing it
quickly. Some might wait until the last minute before a deadline, others may start a project and
have trouble continuing where they have left off, and others may even procrastinate to the point
of never completing a task in time. While not completing a task is not as definitive as
procrastination as hesitation since procrastinators are generally known for doing their work.
Procrastination is somewhat healthy while being unable or unwilling to complete needed jobs is
inherently unhealthy. One might also say that procrastination in necessary to make informed
decisions, to prepare for a speech or presentation that has to be delivered, or even to study for a
test. The longer one waits, the more time one has to gather additional information informally and
to come into the correct mindset to do good work. To utilize the examples above one may wait to
commit to a date or social gathering due to the possibility of other tasks that may need to be
prioritized. As far as giving a presentation or speech, one must not only know the content, he or she
must also be physiologically prepared to face an audience and this can be quite stressful. This might
mean gathering the materials for the presentation more informally yet not completing the speech
preparation until right before it is given, so

The Outcomings Of School Challenges In High School
In High School, students face many problems. Whether they re personal, school, or friend drama,
students face a multiple of problems that they each handle differently. In my high school career,
there have been a number of obstacles that I learned to overcome. The obstacles that I ve gone
through, mainly dealt with the health issues I ve developed or was born with. Conditions that
students deal with can interrupt their thought process during the school day or anyday. Facing a
challenge, setback, or a failure, hurts students or people in general, in many different ways.
An obstacle that was brought to my attention, it was something I never thought I would have to
hear about it, let alone go through it. The trouble and difficulties throughout the last two years of
dealing with the symptoms of this condition have given me a few setbacks, including not being
able to participate in the teaching of my Martial Arts School. I currently am a second degree
black belt at Pak s Martial Arts Federation, as well I teach students fro the ages of four to six or
seven. Struggles as well that have become a large contingent in my everyday life, such as troubles
of walking up a set of stairs, walking through various buildings, and the simple things of just laying
on the couch with my dog, have become activities that I can no longer do with ease. The struggles
have just become harder throughout the upcoming years after my diagnosis.

The Song Of Myself By Walt Whitman And Howl
Both Song of Myself by Walt Whitman and Howl by Allen Ginsberg are important pieces of
American poetry. Song of Myself was written in the 1850 s and Howl was written about a century
later. Both poets were part of groups that wanted to change America the Transcendentalists and the
Beats. Transcendentalists believed in the goodness of people and nature. They believe that people
are at their best when they are truly independent. The Beats rejected standard values and
materialism. They experimented with drugs and sexuality. Both movements tended to portray the
wilderness as heavenly, while thinking that human nightlife was too showy. Both of these groups
were fully American literary movements. Both poets mention nature in the poems. Both poets write
about their reactions to the politics of their time. The poems were rebellions against the
commonalities of their cultures. Whitman and Ginsberg both believed in democracy. They both
protested against industrialization and tradition. Both poets wrote in dangerous times. They
wanted to take a stand against what they thought was wrong with the world. They both wanted to
take on the burden of being true to what America is really supposed to be. Both poets were gay.
Also, both poets were very young at the time that they wrote these poems. Ginsberg was greatly
influenced by Whitman when writing Howl . While writing, he was even reading some of
Whitman s poems. He wanted his world to be like how Whitman saw his own world in

The Emperor s New Clothes Essay
Hans Christian Andersen s fable, The Emperor s New Clothes is a prophetic warning for our
generation. He understood 200 years ago how dangerous the contradiction of beliefs may be. In
order to have justice we need truth. Justice, in society today is presented as seemingly the most
important value, a cornerstone of civilization. At the same time people have stopped believing in
absolute truth. In the story, the townspeople decide whether or not they see the emperor s clothes,
just like society attempts to change the understanding of truth from objective to a relative one,
based on individual point of view. The tailors in the fable convince the town that only the wise are
able to see the magic clothes. In so doing they are dictating the... Show more content on

This dramatic change was achieved by a carefully designed campaign using courts, media, and a
web of lies to change public opinion. Nowadays the bubble zones around abortion clinics prevent
pro life counselors from informing parents about the dangers of abortion. At the same time, secular
media mostly ignores pro life awareness projects, and presents an exclusively biased pro abortion
point of view. The many lies about abortion are created to convince everyone that the procedure is
completely harmless, normal, and should be accepted as a basic human right. Pro choice activists
promote abortion as an insignificant surgical procedure contrary to established scientific facts.
Health risks include hemorrhage, infections, a higher risk of breast cancer and even death.
Abortion not only harms the woman physically, but can also have a lifelong emotional and mental
fallout on the whole family. In masking evil as good, society distorts the truth in the abortion
debate, and since truth is a requirement for justice, we need to reveal it. When the Emperor struts
through town with no clothes on, he is still praised by the townspeople, even though he is naked. In

Disobedience And Dishonesty In The Little Red Cap And The...
Disobedience and dishonesty in The Little Red Cap and The Neapolitan Soldier
In the following essay I show how my academic disobedience and dishonesty parallels the
disobedience and dishonesty in the folk and fairy tales. In the The Neapolitan Soldier by Italo
Calvino, three soldiers who gets lost in the forest at night instead of sleeping they decide that two
are going to sleep while one will stay awake and look after the other two turn after turn. The first
soldier encounters a giant and kills him but decides not to tell the second soldier. The second
soldier encounter a giant too but decides not to tell the third soldier. The third soldier in his turn
kills a giant and but instead of switching his turn he decides to explore more about the giants.
Often, It is argued that the main reason the soldiers were dishonest about their encounters with the
giants were was to avoid fright and flee for the next soldered. However, it is claimed that he was
dishonest because, he wanted to sleep and avoid the consequence of finding a much safer place for
the night.

indigenous peoples and grateful for the United Nations efforts. On the other hand, I felt sorry for

How Do Pesticides Cause Biochemical Changes In Fish
Pesticides cause biochemical changes in fish and influence their activities changes enzyme
activity in the exposure phase and recovery phase. This change is due to the induced
biotransformation to meet the increased energy demands under sustained and prolonged toxic
stress as an adaptive response. Changes in the levels of oxidative enzymes in the gill and muscle
tissues of the pesticide exposed fish suggested that it is due to the toxic effect of the combination
pesticide (Chlorpyrifos 50% + Cypermethrin 5% EC). Pyrethroid are metabolized and eliminated
significantly more slowly by fish than by mammals or birds (Bradbury Coats 1989). Oxidative
stress occurs when critical balance between oxidants and antioxidants is disrupted due to excessive

Glutathione helps to protect cells from reactive oxygen species. GSH checks free radical damage
and helps detoxification by conjugating with chemicals. Increase in reactive oxygen species
protection causes GSH depletion. GSH acts as cofactor for Glutathione Peroxidase (GPx) and
Glutathione S transferase (GST). Glutathione S transferase is thought to play a physiological role
in initiating the detoxification and these enzymes catalyse the reaction of such compounds with the
SH group of glutathione, thereby neutralizing their electrophilic sites and rendering the products
more water soluble. GPx is present throughout the tissues as four different isoenzymes, cellular,
extracellular glutathione peroxidase, as phospholipid hydroperoxide glutathione peroxidase and
gastrointestinal glutathione peroxidase (Alam et al 2013). GPx low activity is one of the early
consequences of a disturbance of the prooxidant or antioxidant balance due to toxic exposure.
Glutathione reductase plays an important role in maintaining a basic GSH pool, via catalysing the
reduction of glutathione disulfide (GSSG) to GSH in NADPH dependent reaction (Yao Chen et al

The Life of Aristotle, the Greek Philosopher
Aristotle (384 322 B.C.) was a Greek Philosopher from the Socratic/Classical period in Athens,
Greece. Socrates developed a system of critical reasoning in order to determine how to live
properly and tell the difference between right and wrong. Aristotle was one of his followers along
with Plato and they made a commitment to the truth, and organized and systematized most of the
problems of philosophy. He is one of the most important figures in Western Philosophy and was the
first person to create a comprehensive system of philosophy.
Aristotle was born to an aristocratic family in Stagira. His father was the personal physician to
King Amyntas of Macedon. Aristotle was trained and educated as a member of the aristocracy. At
age 10, Aristotle s father died (which meant that he could not follow his father s profession as a
doctor anymore) and his mother also died young, so, he was taken under the care of a man named
Proxenus. At age 18, he moved to Athens to complete his education at Platos famous Academy.
Aristotle remained there for nearly twenty years, first as a student and then as a teacher, until after
Plato s death in 347 B.C.. He left the academy because he wasn t chosen to be head of the
academy since his ideas diverged far from Plato s. In 335 B.C., Aristotle established his own school
outside the walls of Athens, known as the Lyceum, in competition with Plato s Academy. The
Lyceum had a broader curriculum than the Academy, and a stronger emphasis on natural

A Report On A Formal Report
A formal report provides information on a particular problem or subject and gives a
recommended course of action based on that information. Some of the different kinds of reports
are feasibility studies, research reports, position papers and problem reports. Each type of report
has its own set of requirements for effectiveness, but they have a lot of common elements which
will be discussed in this paper.
In addition to the components that make up a report, writing a report requires a technique or process
that ensures the proper research is accomplished and the right data is included. Some people use
checklists while others use a set of questions to ensure all the bases are covered. I will touch on the
procedure for writing a report after the components section.
Components of Formal Reports: Front matter, body and end matter are the major components of
most formal reports. Each major component is made up of several subsections which can be
removed or added as needed.
Front Matter: The front matter precedes the text (Lannon Guark, 2014 p. 533) or, body of the
report, its purpose is to introduce and summarize the report and contains the following elements;
A letter that introduces the report (transmittal letter) to the person or group that asked for it. The
letter may list the reason for the report, point out specific items of interest in the report, describe
problems with the data or thank people that contributed to the research.

Analysis Of Fun Home By Alison Bechdel
Analytical Essay on Fun Home By: Alison Bechdel Even though a lot of thing events that
happened to Bechdel was sad, dark, or scary she manages to use a very witty tone throughout the
story reflecting on her personality. She believes dark events are not central to one s life. She
uses this tone as oppose to an angry tone because she never realized her family was any different
until she was compared it to others. This strongly classifies Bechdel in the optimistic category of
personalities. The tone of this novel can strike many people as hard to determine or understand.
One of the best things about this novel is the consistency that Bechdel creates from her earliest
childhood memories all the way until the ending of the book. Tone is known to illustrate the
underlying feelings of the author. What is also very striking is Bechdel s lack of emotion when
any surprising event happens to her. What most tend to remember is when Mr. Bechdel s death
is announced to Bechdel and how she responds to the news. Speaking normally, or what most
would refer to as normal is to have some kind of emotional breakthrough when finding out their
loved one has passed in a tragic accident. Is he dead? (Bechdel 81). In these three words Bechdel
demonstrates her inability to fit into the mere normal category of reactions and blows the audience
away. Bechdel explains how she cried for about two minutes to her girlfriend at the time and that
was the most of mourning she did at all. Using the witty

Popular Mechanics Raymond Carver Essay
The Contemporary State in Which Love Occurs The title Popular Mechanics invokes a variety of
ideas in a reader s mind. When relating the title to the story, it is insinuating how a mediocre couple
is systematized. During the course of the short story, Raymond Carver illustrates to readers all that
is amiss with modern couples; he leaves the characters anonymous as a way to make the duo a
universal representation. Carver elucidates how domestic relationships between man and woman
can be affected if a couple exhibits selfishness, and if they are uncaring toward their environment
they will rapidly end up annihilating more than just themselves. Through the use of seasons, Carver

The couple, instead of speaking to one another about their situation, and how to properly handle
the custody issue, and discuss their feelings; they opt for hurting each other along with their
child. Through dramatic irony, readers learn that neither the man nor the woman gained what
they wanted; showing that the custody battle was hopeless and that they destroyed something
they could never get back whether it be the baby or the relationship. The women s selfish desires
do not necessarily root from vengeance, but from her need of the child. The baby is seen as a
vital source of life for her, she wiped her eyes and stared at him before turning and back to the
living room (328), she is turning away from the relationship with something to hold onto (the
baby). When she picks up the picture, Carver foreshadows the man s willingness to go after the

The man s selfish desires appear at this moment, already hurt from the ending of the relationship
and the rage filled words uttered by his past lover he sees an opportunity to demolish her to the

In contrast, another study reported a non significant inverse association between triglycerides and
prostate cancer specific death (32).
Despite the lack of association between triglycerides and prostate cancer in the present study,
experimental studies suggest that triglycerides may induce prostate cancer progression. For
instance, several studies found that triglyceride rich remnant like particles stimulated PC 3 cell
proliferation by increasing activity of MAPK, MEK/ERK and/or Akt pathways, which are
associated with controlling cell growth and proliferation, apoptosis, cell cycle arrest and lipid
biosynthesis (39,40).
Total cholesterol
Similar to the HUNT 2 study, we did not find any association between total cholesterol and prostate
cancer death in the overall study population (32). Interestingly, though, the findings based on
quartiles of total
cholesterol and our spline model suggested a non significant inverse association between total
cholesterol and prostate cancer death. Haggstrom et al. also reported an inverse, but non
significant, association between total cholesterol and prostate cancer death (8). This finding may be
due to the influence of latent cancer. However, in analyses where we excluded the first two years
of follow up, the tendency remained.

The Modern Police Force Of The United States
Research: Police Officers
The modern police force not only provided an organized, centralized body of men legally
authorized to use force to maintain order, it also provided the illusion that this order was being
maintained under the rule of law, not at the whim of those with economic power, argues Dr. Gary
Potter, author of The History of Policing in the United States, Part 2 published in 2013.
Police Officers wanted to maintain peace, low crimes, and violence throughout their communities.
Most importantly, they wanted to uphold safer living environments. Potter (2013) defines social
control as crime control and was accomplished by raising the specter of the dangerous classes. It
was said, the idea that policing should be directed toward bad individuals, rather than social and
economic conditions that are criminogenic in their social outcomes. Although policing had always
been a reactive enterprise, occurring only in response to a specific criminal act. Its centralized and
bureaucratic police departments also focused on the alleged crime producing qualities of the
dangerous classes which began to emphasize preventative crime control.
Although, crime fighting has taken its toll, consequently, the role of the police has become more
important than ever before, and there would be chaos in the society without police, according to
Maulin Joshi (N.D.), author of What are the Functions of the Police? In the same sense, police are

Persuasive Essay On Open Campus
Schools across the nation are debating over the issue in whether high school students should be
allowed to leave their campus during their lunch period or remain on school grounds. Students need
an open campus lunch policy to give them the freedom they deserve. Many could argue that an
open campus creates drama and destruction, but more good comes than the bad. Responsibility,
staffing, and local businesses all contribute to the successes of having an open campus lunch. High
schoolstudents sit in class all day isolated to the confined space of the schoolproperty. They need
and deserve a little time to escape.
Having an open campus lunch stimulates the economy. Kids are great spenders, especially on
food. According to FONA International s 2014 Trend Insight Report, teens spend around 18%
of their money on food ( U.S. Teens Spend... 1). This means that they hog much of the market
when it comes to fast food. One local business owner, Dick Hood, runs a sub shop right across
from the high school at Round Rock. He admitted that closing the campus would cause him to
lose business (Schroeter 1). The location of restaurants nearby helps to keep the students close
enough to the school and allows for them to walk or bike versus driving. In New York, students
gather at the Vestal Bakery and Deli. Here, the deli serves many students from Vestal High
School and relies on the business from the lunch rush that they provide (Basler 1). With the
business of the students they are able to hire more employees therefore helping the economy.
Rachel Kirkpatrick also contributes to the fast casual eateries in her area. Some days her and
her friends would go into town and eat at their local bagel shop or Chipotle. When it was warm
outside they would picnic on the school s lawn (Marszalek 1). In addition, one school that is on
the edge with deciding what to do is weighing out the pros and cons. They said that having an
open campus would get the students out in the community and let them support local businesses,
that was a major pro (Poolman 1). In a small town, these places thrive on the younger generations
money. Lisa Williams is the manager of Grecco s. On a typical day, over 30 teens come in for

Supporting Influences in the Process of Special Education
How does the role of the Response to Intervention process (RTI), and the Positive Behavior
Interventions and Support (PBIS) structure influence the pre referral process for special
education? In today s time it is of common practice to use the RTI method for academic issues.
Likewise, the PBIS framework is used for issues dealing with unfavorable characteristics in
student behavior. Each method is widely known and looked on as a favorable approach. Both
RTI and PBIS are very important in addressing students during the pre referral process, and each
plays a very significant role. In the following essay the aforementioned question of their role and
influence will be explored and answered. In addressing the role of the Response to Intervention
process (RTI), one must first become familiar with the premise of this process. RTI is a method
that is used to address school aged children that are showing evidence of academic struggle. At the
beginning of the pre referral process, educators identify struggling pupils. Following this
identification, these same teachers begin to explore several avenues of remediation through highly
recommended research based approaches. An approach is selected, implemented, and the child s
progress is documented fully. If solid evidence of success is discovered, through the
implementation of a given program, then the process is concluded because success has been met.
However, if there is solid evidence that proves that the program is unsuccessful then

War, poverty, global tension and abuse has happen since the dawn of mankind, why does this
trend happen and still alive even to this day? The reason is because as people tend to be selfish,
arrogant, and try to be over others at any cost. This world is divided in sections due to believes

humanity would look beyond skin and location and more on how to help out? If so the first step
towards this goal would be educating the youth to look beyond color and to always aspire for

Even though Hispanics were viewed more highly than Blacks they were still treated poorly.
They worked for barely any pay for hours and their kids went to separate schools. After many
court cases such as the Delgado case Hispanic children were allowed to go to white schools,
Cesar Chaves in the other hand was able to increase wages for many field workers. Just like the
African Americans, Hispanics are bran new to the idea of education, thus many families still have
their children working at such an early age. The Hispanic culture is a rich culture, Hispanic
families are close Knit and the most important social unit (Hispanic culture). For this very reason
Hispanics have a sense of obligation to provide material and emotional support to members of
nuclear and external family (Hispanic Culture). How does this affect GPA you might wonder?
Well because of this feeling of obligation most younglings tend to work or else they are considered
lazy or unproductive. Working during schoolresults in difficulty for getting school assignments
done which make a student look bad, in some cases students are forced to drop out to help the
family out economically. This might seem harmless to many, but the reality is this happens quite
often, and sadly these young men/women will have a family of their own and due to low
education levels most will not have a stable fanatical life, thus resulting in a constant cycle of low
education levels between the Hispanic cultures. This is almost becoming a norm to where
students don t even try because they know that they will be forced to do what their family does
for a living to support fanatically stability. Even though this is not true for every Hispanic, the
reality is that this is a very real life event that happens so

The Empire Of Crete
The Empire of Crete is an island strategically positioned in the Mediterranean Sea. Crete controls
most of Eastern Mediterranean trade and taxes. Crete has the ability to trade with Egypt, Syria,
Cyprus, the Aegean islands, the mainland and west Sicily (Thomas Sakoulas). This is how Crete
gets its income. The issue is Crete has materials to build boats, but as soon as Crete reaches the
mainland they lack animals to carry their goods across the Silk Road. The Crete Empire will
secure trade along the Silk Road by forging alliances with the Bedouins and Ottoman Empire. The
Empire of Crete will increase profits by capitalizing upon the alliances with Bedouins and the
Ottoman Empire, in exchange for conditional access to Crete s sea routes. The problem with

Crete plans to sail to the mainland where the Silk Road is nearest to both of the empires and, as
Crete sails, the Bedouins meet up with Crete and trade camels and timber. Timber was one of
the natural resources that was commercially exploited and exported to nearby Egypt (Thomas
Sakoulas). Since the Bedouins are helping Crete, Crete will take off fifty percent for the vessels
the Bedouins use, on the Eastern Mediterranean. In return, the Bedouins will provide an army
for Crete to block the Holy Roman Empire from using the trade routes. One army will not hold
off all of Rome, so Crete agreed to partner up with the Ottomans and have the Ottoman army tag
along with the Bedouins. Therefore, Crete will allow the Ottomans no taxation on the eastern
sea. Crete shall do this because they have harsh history with Rome. Professor Keith Bradley said,
Rome once forced people to be Greek slaves. This is showing that Crete would never trade, nor
partner up with the Holy Roman Empire, because they enslaved Crete s own family. In conclusion,
Crete will gain power, wealth, and peace because of the Silk

Crime Without Borders
1.Describe the push and pull factors that contribute to slavery. In addition, explain why you believe
that the specific characteristics (i.e. low food production) of these factors contribute to
environments conducive for slavery.
Push and pull factors are very important in the criminal enterprise of slavery and human trafficking.
In our textbook Crime Without Borders: An Introduction To International Criminal Justice by
Aaron Fichtelberg defines push factors as, Push factors are those aspects of a society that make it
a likely target for human traffickers by creating a ready pool of potential victims (Fichtelberg,
2008, pg. 235). There are five primary push factors for slavery and those are: corruption of the

One way that daughters are victimized by slave trade is their family members put their
daughters up for human trafficking in which most of them will be sold to pimps. According to
Aaron Fichtelberg, Sometimes these women are initially sold by their family, who often don t
consider a daughter to be an asset, in order to provide income to help the rest of the family
survive (Fichtelberg, 2008, pg.239). This can make the daughters feel a sense of hopelessness
in the process of being sold. Another way that women and children are victimized throughout the
process of human trafficking for the sex industry are marriage services. Marriage services
allows for women from other countries to be introduced to western men who are interested in
marrying them. Usually these marriage services leads to the women being deprived of her
freedom and put to work in strip clubs or brothels. These women who seek to go to a different
country to marry a western men usually feels betrayed. The women and children who are
trafficked to the sex industry are also considered criminals. They are considered criminals due to
prostitution. It is hard for people to identify who is the victim in a case like this. When women and
children are caught within the sex industry they are usually sent home to their home country in
which they may be shunned. Women and children could be shunned from their community if their
community is against sexual work and being sexual active. It is continued victimization because
the victim will always be accused of being a criminal or a disgrace to the

Sage Archetype Examples
A collectively inherited unconscious idea, pattern of thought, image, is known as an Archetype. All
human beings develop an archetype throughout their lifetime. The archetype can be developed and
influenced by outside sources such as your family, your gender, your culture, your friends and the
media. There are many variations of archetypes that a person can be, depending on how they were
influenced during their whole life. A person can be the innocent, the orphan/regular guy or gal, the
hero, the caregiver, the explorer, the rebel, the lover, the creator, the jester, the sage, the magician,
and the ruler. The sage archetype represents me perfectly as it matches my fears, my characteristics
and the qualities that come from my favourite colour.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My favorite colours are yellow and black. These colours compliment the sage archetype
perfectly. Yellow means enlightenment and wisdom. Sages seek to find wisdom, they bring
enlightenment to others about subjects that they might not know about. I find myself doing this
a lot, trying to teach others about the subject as I m very knowledgeable or very wise in that
subject. Teaching them enlightens them, giving them knowledge now that they can teach
others. Knowing this makes me feel great about myself, able to use my knowledge to help
others is amazing. The colour black represents the unknown, mystery and power. I seek the
unknown as do sages. I want to know what I don t know, make myself even more knowledgeable
about the subject and find more about our world. I really enjoy mystery, makes me excited as I
m able to find the mystery and search what the answer or what the mystery is, I find myself that
I seek power. I want to know more then everyone else around me making me competitive.
Whenever I m in a class, I try to strive to be the best in the class and get the best mark. To do this I
need to to learn the information, understand it, and know the unknown. This really compares to the
sage s main goal which is to find the unknown and speak the truth. The colour yellow and the shade
black contrast, but are similar in a way that they both represent me and the sage. The qualities that

Did you expect the conclusion/culprit to be who/what it was? If so, what was some evidence. If
not, what led you to believe otherwise?
I expected Bushy Trott to be the culprit for the fabric factory robbery of the recipe for the fabric
because he had worked at both factories and knew the recipes for the fabric making. I half
suspected that he plagiarized the music because there were a lot possible people who they thought
could be committing the crime and the evidence did not lead directly to Bushy Trott. Bushy Trott
was their first suspect. For the stolen music they knew that it was him, because the composer s

In the TV show CSI there are fingerprints everywhere, but as we know from our studies not all the
time they get a perfect finger print and it is harder to identify who the fingerprint belongs to, in
fictional crimes the fingerprint can be identified to someone easily. In real life It takes years to
bring a crime to court. In my Nancy Drew books they are the original so they are old and they
didn t have technology back then. In my book teenagers were dealing with a crime but in real
life they cannot actually be real detectives but Nancy Drew solves all her own cases and once
she solves it she notified police and they go to jail. At the Police Interpretive center we were
taught to never j a conclusions and think you are done without any evidence. Nancy Drew knew
she had to get evidence before accusing someone but she just jumped to the conclusion that it
was Bushy Trott before finding evidence, like lots of people jumped to conclusion in our crime
about the happy mart crime before we actually knew who it was. In the Nancy Drew series she
always gets kidnapped then she breaks free, but I wonder if that ever happened in real life you
probably wouldn t escape. I don t understand why there are so many crimes and mysteries in

Economic Evaluation Essay
The change in health profiles of the population and the evolution of medical technology have made
more explicit the gap between what medicine can do and what is economically feasible (Fuchs,
2000). Resources to satisfy needs are scarce and every society must decide how better to allocate
the scarce resource among the different alternative uses. Economicstries to address the normative
question of which allocation of resources is best for the society. The answer to such question
depends crucially on the objective being pursued. When comparing different alternatives, under the
classical assumptions of competitive markets (the Arrow Debreu economy) and Pareto efficiency, a

This is the so called Hicks Kaldor criterion, which allows making judgements about policies
without making inter personal comparisons. However, there are two problems with this criterion:
marginal utility of income must be the same across individuals and it may be the case that a
movement back to the original allocation increase welfare, so it would be impossible to define
which allocation is better. Also, the information that would be needed to collect makes the
application of this criterion quite infeasible.
This is the theoretical basis for many cost benefit studies in health care that rely on methods like
contingent valuation to measure benefits from health care interventions. If this is the theoretical
basis for cost benefit analysis, it means the acceptance of Pareto optimality concept and its related
distributional implications. Individual utility is what is being maximised and individuals are
assumed to be the best judges of their own welfare.
Given the limitations of the welfarist approach, some have argued to rely on explicit welfare
functions to aggregate individuals preferences and explicitly address the issues of distribution, but
as Arrow demonstrated, it is impossible to aggregate individual preferences in a coherent way.
Working on the Sen s ideas, it was showed that interpersonal comparisons were the

Introduction
Evolutionary studies are undoubtedly a large, significant aspect of biological anthropology.
Anthropology can be defined as the study of human nature, human society, and the human past
(Lavenda and Schultz 2016:5). Evolution includes the past, present, and future. It revolves around
how we got to where we are today; what are our origins as modern day humans? Neanderthals are
an important piece of that puzzle that has yet to be properly placed. The role, significance, and
similarity between modern day humans and Neanderthals are topics of special interest for many
biological anthropologists. John D. Speth discusses this exact topic in his article titled News Flash:
Negative Evidence Convicts Neanderthals of Gross Mental Incompetence. Neanderthals have been
unjustifiably placed in a category of inferior cognitive abilities based primarily on negative
evidence, a form of evidence that is not testable, therefore not capable of proving anything, thus
demonstrating that Neanderthals were intelligent beings and do not differ from modern day
humans in intelligence.
Article Summary John D. Speth authored the article, News Flash: Negative Evidence Convicts
Neanderthals of Gross Mental Incompetence, a piece where Speth argues that Neanderthals have
not been properly proven of inferior cognitive abilities. Speth says,

Word Choice And Imagery In The Minefield By Daniel Thiel
The Minefield, a poem by Daniel Thiel, portrays itself in an obscure yet abrupt manner in which a
hungry, fourteen year old boy, only looking for a head of lettuce, is blown up by a minefield. The
word choice and imagery in the poem consequently conveys the vision of the minefield explosion
(by the father) being unleashed through the acts of fury and violencetowards his children. Word
choice conveys this vision through explicit yet traumatic experiences with the past explosionby
referencing how, only fourteen, innocent, hungry, and under good intention, was the friend blown
up. For example, on the first two lines of stanza three, Thiel depicts the scattered boyas someone
who, ...carried them underneath his good intentions , /turned his head, looked back once, / and
his body was scattered across the field (Stanza 1, line 8 9). The word choice within these quotes
makes the young boy appear blameless given his traumatic fate. On the second stanza, the two
lines may indicate that the father is recalling a memory at a dinner table towards his children.
Furthermore, the word choice that compares the memory to anger displacement can be seen on
the third stanza on lines 14 17 in which the father gave the ...volume of his anger to his children,
which resulted in the bruises, we covered up with sleeves./ In the way, he threw anything against
the wall... , such as a radio. Following the line, Thiel then compares how his father threw a melon,
having it open, like a head, which is a direct reference to the father s past experience in regards to
the explosion. Secondly, the word
Simic 2 choice following the previous line references how the kids of the distressed father are
now traumatized from the father s outbursts of violence and destruction, that anything might
explode at any time. Imagery for The Minefield, however, portrays a similar approach in relation
to word choice. Within the first stanza, when the ... friend ran a few lengths ahead, the imagery
in that can relate to how close yet distant the fourteen year old boy was in comparison to the
others, ending in one tragedy. On line 7, imagery can be clearly seen as the boy was compared to

A preliminary version of this article was presented at the Western Decision Sciences Conference in
Maui, Hawaii, in April 1994.
Limitation The total number of integrated carriers which are in a position to provide onestop
shopping for international logistics to US shippers is estimated to number less than 30 worldwide.
The data obtained reflect the perceptions of ten of these carriers, yet they cannot provide the
statistical and analytical comfort that a survey of a larger population would yield. This study,
therefore, should be considered exploratory in nature, rather than providing conclusive results.
Definitions of one stop shopping The term one stop shopping, to describe total logistics service
packages, found usage in trade journals and carrier sales literature during the 1980s. Mahoney[10]
describes one stop shopping as:
The multimodal carrier promises to become a transportation supermarket, where the shipper will be
able to satisfy all needs with One Stop Shopping . The shipper s shopping list will be fulfilled with
simplified documents from origin to destination and the shipper will receive an audited
computerized printout, just like the housewife at the checkout counter.

Moral Disagreement By Kwame Anthony Appiah
All around the world today, there is a lot of tension revolving around concepts of morality. In
Moral Disagreement by Kwame Anthony Appiah, Appiah writes about differing values and
morals around the world and within our society. He points out, we aren t the only people who
have the concepts of right and wrong, good and bad; every society, it seems, has terms that
correspond to these thin concepts (658). However, these concepts are not always the same with
each other in every society. In the same way that not everyone in our society believes in the same
moral concepts. Unfortunately, it is these disagreements that often separate us as people. Forming
different cultures, large and small, throughout the world. This is not a bad thing, but it does
separate us as a race, leaving us to care more for one group of people rather than humanity as a
whole. In Patriotism and Cosmopolitanism, by Martha Nussbaum, Nussbaum suggest that a way to
fix this problem, and to become a cosmopolitan person, is to teach students in our education
systems more of different cultures throughout the world. Yet not only should we learn to accept
other cultures and their beliefs, but we should also educate ourselves to accept everybody we
meet, giving respect to them as individuals, if we ever truly want to become a citizen of the world.
Acceptance is a quality that is lacking within the world. Many people do not want to accept that, for
example, not everybody thinks like the. In recognition of this

HarperLargePrint, 2004. 2.Literary Precis: In the novel One hundred years of solitude by Gabriel Marquez Garcia, he suggests that our fate is written and inevitable. He supports this claim by showing multiple generations do the same mistakes that their previous generation made. He also supports this by stating that the Buendia family had there fate written all along and was not able to avoid it by any means. The author s purpose of this novel is to entertain and inform the reader in order to get across that our fate is written down even before we are born. The author uses an observational tone with his intellectually capable audience. 3.Four ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. U.s. Federal Tax Law A Federal Tax Law comprises of statutory provisions, administrative support and court decisions in certain cases. The first and foremost task of any Federal Tax Law is raising revenue for Federal and various state governments to absorb the cost of government operations. The role of social, economic, equity and political factors couldn t be ignored while discussing various tax consequences during particular budget period. Nevertheless, the amount of revenue raised through this method decides the amount of services that the government can afford to provide. The forum topics for this week are explained in following broad heads: Revenue generated through tax receipts ideally should exceed annual costs on various government operations. Moreover, the economic considerations involving amendment of Internal Revenue Codes for various depreciation deductions for purchase of business property and research /development deductions credits1. The second consideration, referred to, as social consideration give tax benefits to the employers encouraging health insurance and deduction for charitable contributions by employees as well as private companies. • 4. Pros And Cons Of Health Care Reform Introduction: The topic of discussion is the fairness of an individual mandated to purchase health insurance. It was one of the most argumentative subjects in U.S. politics: the federal health care law s requirement that everybody has health insurance or pays a fine. Supporters of this debate, argue that it s fundamental to make health care more affordable and available to everyone. Those against the mandate say a law that forces people to purchase anything, as well as health insurance, disturbs promises of personal freedom protected by the Constitution. Opponents say, it also makes health care more expensive and ineffective. Reconstructions of Arguments: A. It is the conclusion of Karen Davenport that it is the key to reform. Should everyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the second article, Michael F. Cannon argues no: premiums will rise according to his article asking should everyone be required to have health insurance. He even tells us if the mandate were constitutional; it would still be a bad idea. Some of his reasoning s for this is not a good plan is that the mandate will increase premiums. The mandate s greatest fabrication is the idea that it promotes personal responsibility. He explains that supporters want a mandate so it can keep them from being responsible. Here s how this will happen, by the federal law promotion of irresponsibility by allowing healthy people to wait until they get sick to buy coverage. He argues this is selfishness forcing others to bear the cost of ones decision. I believe in the importance for each American to have the option for health insurance. As a nurse, I have seen many cases of people that did not seek medical attention due to they could not afford health care. I believe that I should support article #1 in regards to health care and it should be available and affordable to all citizens. The Affordable Care Act is meant to address a lack of access and high costs. The requirement of health insurance is not only fair, but it is desperately ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. What Would Childhood Be Like Without Mickey Mouse And... What would childhood be like without Mickey Mouse and Cinderella? Disney is a genre that has an uncontainable exposure. Every child in America is familiar with Disney in one way or another because Disney manifests itself in countless different ways that capture the attention of a wide spectrum of audiences. One may be familiar with Disney movies, television shows, theme parks, toys, or numerous other representations. Perhaps the most well known Disney creations are films. Disney began producing movies in the late 1930s and has been unstoppable in the film industry ever since. Some are regarded as classics, such as Cinderella, Mary Poppins, Bambi, and Peter Pan. Some of the company s newest productions are equally as popular and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That value can be derived from Belle falling in love with a beast, even though he did not have the typical aesthetic qualities of a prince. A majority of Disney films rely heavily on pathos, as this technique encourages readers to invest in the storyline and become more interested in the outcome of characters endeavors. Finding Nemo, for example, demonstrates this as the protagonist, a young fish named Nemo, gets lost, and his father does everything and anything he can to find him and bring him back home safely. The second most well known manifestation of Disney is the Disney Channel on television. While the purpose of the television shows is similar to that of the movies, they are different in that comedic elements are introduced more heavily in the television shows. Each episode has a conflict and often the characters make poor choices in solving their conflict, but at the end of the thirty minute time slot, the characters have simultaneously learned a valuable lesson with the resolution of the conflict. This structure is universal throughout a majority of their shows, including That s so Raven, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, and in newer hits such as Good Luck Charlie. The audience is primarily children, which is indisputable by the use of childish humor found in the scripts and the simple life lessons that are taught. The rhetorical appeals most commonly used are pathos and ethos. The adult ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay on The All American Girls Professional Baseball League The All American Girls Professional Baseball League Before we told our daughters that they could be anyone, or anything they wanted to be, we told them that they could only be what was acceptable for women to be, and that they could only do things that were considered ladylike. It was at this time, when the nation was frenzied with the business of war, that the women of the All American Girls Professional BaseballLeague decided that they could do and be whatever it was that they chose. These women broke free of the limitations that their family and society had set for them, and publicly broke into what had been an exclusively male sport up until that time. To understand the significance of the league (which will... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Suddenly women were being called from their kitchens to work in the factories, being told that it was their patriotic duty. The famous Rosie the Riveter image arose from this movement. Rosie became a new image for women, being portrayed as strong, tough, and attractive. It was from this very image that the idea for the league was born. The league was the brainchild of Philip K. Wrigley, president of the Wrigley chewing gum company, and owner of the Chicago Cubs National League baseball team. Wrigley was concerned with the future of baseball. The major leagues had already lost more than half of their players to the military. The minor leagues were even harder hit. By the start of the 1943 season, more than 3,000 minor leaguers had joined the service or the war effort. Only nine of the nations 26 minor leagues had enough men left to play. Aside from this reason, there was concern over the continuation of baseball by several public figures, including President Roosevelt. It was thought that because of the long hours and demanding work of the war effort that it was important for the American people to have a way to blow off steam. In the fall of 1942, Wrigley assigned a three man team from the Cubs organization to look into developing a professional baseball league for women. His theory ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Forensic Career Essay With the new age of technology, solving violent crimes such as murder, physical abuse, and kidnapping have become much easier to solve thanks to forensic evidence. Forensic has solved thousands of crimes and cold cases, some notable cases are the Green River Killer, the cold case murder of Krystal Beslanowitch, and Leanne Tirenan to name a few. I took a personality quiz on 16peronalitys.com, and my results indicated that a forensic scientist would be perfect for my personality. No glove can offer 100% protection either as permeation and degradation take their toll during use. This means there is no glove that can fully protect your hand against blood and saliva. Also UV light (Which they use a lot to examine fingerprints and other things) can burn the retina. This can be very serious and you may go blind. Also you only make $55,730 a year, which is only $31, 800, more than poverty level. I collect a lot of expensive items, so this may not be enough to feed my obsessions. After all the problems there are some good things about being a forensic scientist such as right now, the hire rate is higher than normal, more hire rates means more jobs available. In 2010 there were 14,010 forensic scientists in the U.S. which isn t very many, but according to BLS, the growth rate for the job will go up by 27% through 2015 2020. Also you only need a bachelor s degree to have the education requirements to become a forensic scientist. This means I will only have to go through two years of collage. Many are set on the idea of being rich, having a nice house and car, and having the luxury life. But in reality, very few are actually like that. As a junior in high schoolI started to look for a part time job as i was interested in the aspect of money. My dream job since I was about 8 was to work at the Nike outlet in Centralia, Washington. So long story short, I applied and applied over and over and eventually got the call during August 2015. Cost can also depend on if you attend a two year school to get your basic classes out of the way. The average cost of a bachelor s degree at a public four year school would be $22,261, compared to a private school where the price jumps to $43,289. Again, the cost depends on what school you attend. Because of my interest in continuing an athletic career on the baseball field, where I attend school is limited. With my interest in being both on the academic and athletic fields, my choices are narrowed. If I were to choose my perfect path it would be attending a two year school to get my basic studies done cheaper, and then after those two years, I would like to attend a four year school to finish up my degree in business. Many of the requirements to get into the schools I would look at attending require a high school diploma and then specific requirements for each school after that. With what I have done as a student in the classroom, I have met or exceeded some requirements to receive admission into colleges. With the training that I hope to receive while attending school to get my bachelor s in business, I hope to receive many skills that are needed, and then use those and the skills that I already have, to garner a job in the field of business. As Ray became a more experienced artist that had been known for a while he appealed to a young audience who were more accepting of black young artists unlike some older people who were against artists of other races. By the time he had fully identified his music style he found that having feminine backup vocals best suited his deep, gruff voice. This is shown in many of his later songs like Hit the road Jack . • 10. The Untouchable By Thomas L. Friedman The Untouchable by Thomas L. Friedman speaks about the world being flat, which is the stunning rise of middle classes all over the world (pg. 323). He explains how the American society is becoming global. This globalization that is occurring in today s society is leading children in America to have a competing mindset against cultures such as the Chinese. We have to begin to think wise and know what route we have to take in life in order to flourish or survive. There will plenty of jobs out there; however, they will only be open to those people with the right knowledge, self motivation, ideas and skill. There are already some people who have begun to think globally, and this is a great start because we must have the right knowledge... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means that in a flat world, an American job is open to everyone not just an American. It also means that in a flat world the homework one must do has to be correct. Therefore, we need to look at jobs that are always going to be around even when technology begins to take over. We must become an untouchable! Although, in India an untouchable is considered a person of low class, Mr. Friedman defines an untouchable as those people whose jobs cannot be outsourced (pg.325). He also goes on to give two categories of jobs that will be considered untouchables and one category that will be considered touchable. They are the following: 1) Special or Specialized jobs, 2) localized and anchored jobs, and 3) old middle jobs. Special or specialized jobs are those that require skill, have a global market and command global wages, such as singers and basketball players. A localized or anchored job is one that occurs in a set location. This means that those who obtain these jobs, such as a barber, has knowledge about the location he/she is in, and has personal one on one contact with his/her consumers and etc. These two categories of jobs will boom. On the other hand, old middle jobs, such as account payable clerks, are in trouble. The Republican Spanish government commissioned the mural for the 1937 World Fair in Paris. Guernica is a large mural, twenty six feet wide and eleven feet tall, and was placed at the entrance to Spain s pavilion. Picasso did not do any work after receiving the commission until reading of the bombing of the Basque village of Guernica, in Spain. It was that attack, perpetrated by the German Luftwaffe, that inspired him. Guernica, however, is not a complete depiction of that event. In Guernica, Picasso masterfully conveys the suffering of the Basque people and the tragedy of war. He seeks not to report on every detail of the bombing, but only to ... The horse in the center is fatally wounded and will soon die. To the far left, the child in his mother s arms has already died, and so has the warrior whose head rests at the bottom of the mural. But again, the strong right to left movement arises from the direction in which the subjects are looking. Guernica is monochromatic to make its imagery more powerful. Lack of color keeps the viewer focused on the subject matter at hand, as well as keeping the mural cold, which agrees with its general theme of injustice in war. Also, Picasso s flat imagery does not distract the viewer from concentrating on imagery. The viewer is given no other choice than to concentrate on the subject matter of Guernica and ponder it s meaning. The flat, grayscale images generalize the imagery and contribute to the general theme of unnecessary suffering and tragedy. At the extreme right of Picasso s mural, a woman is falling from a burning building. Flames appear to be spewing from the top of that building. The flames consist triangles with different values of gray. The same lighttriangles are coming from the woman s dress. Her arms flail upwards as she falls, and it is her fall that draws the eye downward and moves the viewer through the work. Below lies the woman picking herself up off the ... Throughout Dinkytown s many metamorphoses in the past half century, storeowners have unhinged their signs, boxed their goods, and left behind blank storefronts for the next crop of entrepreneurship but their histories are immortalized in the wistful memories of many who frequented their shops. In response, aggrieved University students occupied the block attempting to stave off the demolition of historic Dinkytown. In terms of the past research, LLCs benefit students in a variety of ways. As described by multiple students in a conducted interview, LLCs provide a home away from home by creating a sense of hearth that is unparalleled to anything else found on campus (Brower, 2010). This creation of a specific type of environment that feels welcoming to the students helps ease the transition from the experiences of either a community collegeor highschool, to that of a university. After going to many websites researching a definition that I could use to start I quickly discovered that the RULE OF LAW meant something different to each of the authors of the websites and while they were all meaningful none of them encompassed what I predetermined it should be until I reached the one definition that really jumped out at me is: Rule of law refers to an end state in which all individuals and institutions, public and private, and the state itself are held accountable to the law, which is supreme. Laws must be consistent with international human rights norms and standards, legally certain, legally transparent, drafted with procedural transparency, and publicly promulgated. Warning about the Sig (2 Tailed) value When you are computing Pearson s r, significance is a messy topic. When you have small samples, for example only a few participants, moderate correlations may misleadingly not reach significance. When you have large samples, for example many participants, small correlations may misleadingly turn out to be significant. Some researchers think that significance should be reported but perhaps should receive less focus when it comes to Pearson s r. So what about the scatterplot? You can find your scatterplot in your output file. It will look something like the graph below. You will see a bunch of dots. Your scatterplot can tell you about the relationship between variables, just like Pearson s r. With it, you can determine the strength and direction of the relationship between variables. Relationship strength Try to imagine a line that connects the dots in your scatterplot. Is this an easy or difficult task? This task can help you determine the strength of the relationship between your two variables. If your variables have a strong relationship, it will be easy for your to imagine a line connecting all of the dots. Increase in reactive oxygen species protection causes GSH depletion. GSH acts as cofactor for Glutathione Peroxidase (GPx) and Glutathione S transferase (GST). Glutathione S transferase is thought to play a physiological role in initiating the detoxification and these enzymes catalyse the reaction of such compounds with the SH group of glutathione, thereby neutralizing their electrophilic sites and rendering the products more water soluble. GPx is present throughout the tissues as four different isoenzymes, cellular, extracellular glutathione peroxidase, as phospholipid hydroperoxide glutathione peroxidase and gastrointestinal glutathione peroxidase (Alam et al 2013). She believes dark events are not central to one s life. She uses this tone as oppose to an angry tone because she never realized her family was any different until she was compared it to others. This strongly classifies Bechdel in the optimistic category of personalities. The tone of this novel can strike many people as hard to determine or understand. One of the best things about this novel is the consistency that Bechdel creates from her earliest childhood memories all the way until the ending of the book. Tone is known to illustrate the underlying feelings of the author. What is also very striking is Bechdel s lack of emotion when any surprising event happens to her. What most tend to remember is when Mr. Bechdel s death is announced to Bechdel and how she responds to the news. Speaking normally, or what most would refer to as normal is to have some kind of emotional breakthrough when finding out their loved one has passed in a tragic accident. Is he dead? (Bechdel 81). In these three words Bechdel demonstrates her inability to fit into the mere normal category of reactions and blows the audience away. Bechdel explains how she cried for about two minutes to her girlfriend at the time and that was the most of mourning she did at all. Using the witty ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Popular Mechanics Raymond Carver Essay The Contemporary State in Which Love Occurs The title Popular Mechanics invokes a variety of ideas in a reader s mind. When relating the title to the story, it is insinuating how a mediocre couple is systematized. During the course of the short story, Raymond Carver illustrates to readers all that is amiss with modern couples; he leaves the characters anonymous as a way to make the duo a universal representation. Carver elucidates how domestic relationships between man and woman can be affected if a couple exhibits selfishness, and if they are uncaring toward their environment they will rapidly end up annihilating more than just themselves. Through the use of seasons, Carver shows the collapse of the relationship before the story begins.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The couple, instead of speaking to one another about their situation, and how to properly handle the custody issue, and discuss their feelings; they opt for hurting each other along with their child. Through dramatic irony, readers learn that neither the man nor the woman gained what they wanted; showing that the custody battle was hopeless and that they destroyed something they could never get back whether it be the baby or the relationship. The women s selfish desires do not necessarily root from vengeance, but from her need of the child. The baby is seen as a vital source of life for her, she wiped her eyes and stared at him before turning and back to the living room (328), she is turning away from the relationship with something to hold onto (the baby). When she picks up the picture, Carver foreshadows the man s willingness to go after the child, Then she noticed the baby s picture on the bed and picked it up. He looked at her... (328). The man s selfish desires appear at this moment, already hurt from the ending of the relationship and the rage filled words uttered by his past lover he sees an opportunity to demolish her to the same level she did him. Despite the lack of association between triglycerides and prostate cancer in the present study, experimental studies suggest that triglycerides may induce prostate cancer progression. Total cholesterol Similar to the HUNT 2 study, we did not find any association between total cholesterol and prostate cancer death in the overall study population (32). Interestingly, though, the findings based on quartiles of total cholesterol and our spline model suggested a non significant inverse association between total cholesterol and prostate cancer death. Haggstrom et al. also reported an inverse, but non significant, association between total cholesterol and prostate cancer death (8). This finding may be due to the influence of latent cancer. However, in analyses where we excluded the first two years of follow up, the tendency remained. • 38. The Modern Police Force Of The United States Research: Police Officers The modern police force not only provided an organized, centralized body of men legally authorized to use force to maintain order, it also provided the illusion that this order was being maintained under the rule of law, not at the whim of those with economic power, argues Dr. Gary Potter, author of The History of Policing in the United States, Part 2 published in 2013. Police Officers wanted to maintain peace, low crimes, and violence throughout their communities. Most importantly, they wanted to uphold safer living environments. Potter (2013) defines social control as crime control and was accomplished by raising the specter of the dangerous classes. It was said, the idea that policing should be directed toward bad individuals, rather than social and economic conditions that are criminogenic in their social outcomes. Although policing had always been a reactive enterprise, occurring only in response to a specific criminal act. Its centralized and bureaucratic police departments also focused on the alleged crime producing qualities of the dangerous classes which began to emphasize preventative crime control. • 39. Persuasive Essay On Open Campus Schools across the nation are debating over the issue in whether high school students should be allowed to leave their campus during their lunch period or remain on school grounds. Students need an open campus lunch policy to give them the freedom they deserve. Many could argue that an open campus creates drama and destruction, but more good comes than the bad. Responsibility, staffing, and local businesses all contribute to the successes of having an open campus lunch. High schoolstudents sit in class all day isolated to the confined space of the schoolproperty. They need and deserve a little time to escape. Having an open campus lunch stimulates the economy. Kids are great spenders, especially on food. According to FONA International s 2014 Trend Insight Report, teens spend around 18% of their money on food ( U.S. Teens Spend... 1). This means that they hog much of the market when it comes to fast food. One local business owner, Dick Hood, runs a sub shop right across from the high school at Round Rock. He admitted that closing the campus would cause him to lose business (Schroeter 1). The location of restaurants nearby helps to keep the students close enough to the school and allows for them to walk or bike versus driving. In New York, students gather at the Vestal Bakery and Deli. Here, the deli serves many students from Vestal High School and relies on the business from the lunch rush that they provide (Basler 1). With the business of the students they are able to hire more employees therefore helping the economy. Rachel Kirkpatrick also contributes to the fast casual eateries in her area. Some days her and her friends would go into town and eat at their local bagel shop or Chipotle. When it was warm outside they would picnic on the school s lawn (Marszalek 1). In addition, one school that is on the edge with deciding what to do is weighing out the pros and cons. They said that having an open campus would get the students out in the community and let them support local businesses, that was a major pro (Poolman 1). Supporting Influences in the Process of Special Education How does the role of the Response to Intervention process (RTI), and the Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) structure influence the pre referral process for special education? In today s time it is of common practice to use the RTI method for academic issues. Likewise, the PBIS framework is used for issues dealing with unfavorable characteristics in student behavior. Each method is widely known and looked on as a favorable approach. Both RTI and PBIS are very important in addressing students during the pre referral process, and each plays a very significant role. In the following essay the aforementioned question of their role and influence will be explored and answered. In addressing the role of the Response to Intervention process (RTI), one must first become familiar with the premise of this process. RTI is a method that is used to address school aged children that are showing evidence of academic struggle. At the beginning of the pre referral process, educators identify struggling pupils. Following this identification, these same teachers begin to explore several avenues of remediation through highly recommended research based approaches. An approach is selected, implemented, and the child s progress is documented fully. If solid evidence of success is discovered, through the implementation of a given program, then the process is concluded because success has been met. However, if there is solid evidence that proves that the program is unsuccessful then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Just like the African Americans, Hispanics are bran new to the idea of education, thus many families still have their children working at such an early age. The Hispanic culture is a rich culture, Hispanic families are close Knit and the most important social unit (Hispanic culture). For this very reason Hispanics have a sense of obligation to provide material and emotional support to members of nuclear and external family (Hispanic Culture). Working during schoolresults in difficulty for getting school assignments done which make a student look bad, in some cases students are forced to drop out to help the family out economically. This might seem harmless to many, but the reality is this happens quite often, and sadly these young men/women will have a family of their own and due to low education levels most will not have a stable fanatical life, thus resulting in a constant cycle of low education levels between the Hispanic cultures. This is almost becoming a norm to where students don t even try because they know that they will be forced to do what their family does for a living to support fanatically stability. Anthropology can be defined as the study of human nature, human society, and the human past (Lavenda and Schultz 2016:5). Evolution includes the past, present, and future. It revolves around how we got to where we are today; what are our origins as modern day humans? Neanderthals are an important piece of that puzzle that has yet to be properly placed. • 49. Word Choice And Imagery In The Minefield By Daniel Thiel The Minefield, a poem by Daniel Thiel, portrays itself in an obscure yet abrupt manner in which a hungry, fourteen year old boy, only looking for a head of lettuce, is blown up by a minefield. The word choice and imagery in the poem consequently conveys the vision of the minefield explosion (by the father) being unleashed through the acts of fury and violencetowards his children. Word choice conveys this vision through explicit yet traumatic experiences with the past explosionby referencing how, only fourteen, innocent, hungry, and under good intention, was the friend blown up. For example, on the first two lines of stanza three, Thiel depicts the scattered boyas someone who, ...carried them underneath his good intentions , /turned his head, looked back once, / and his body was scattered across the field (Stanza 1, line 8 9). The word choice within these quotes makes the young boy appear blameless given his traumatic fate. On the second stanza, the two lines may indicate that the father is recalling a memory at a dinner table towards his children. Furthermore, the word choice that compares the memory to anger displacement can be seen on the third stanza on lines 14 17 in which the father gave the ...volume of his anger to his children, which resulted in the bruises, we covered up with sleeves./ In the way, he threw anything against the wall... , such as a radio. Following the line, Thiel then compares how his father threw a melon, having it open, like a head, which is a direct reference to the father s past experience in regards to the explosion. Secondly, the word Simic 2 choice following the previous line references how the kids of the distressed father are now traumatized from the father s outbursts of violence and destruction, that anything might explode at any time. In Moral Disagreement by Kwame Anthony Appiah, Appiah writes about differing values and morals around the world and within our society. He points out, we aren t the only people who have the concepts of right and wrong, good and bad; every society, it seems, has terms that correspond to these thin concepts (658). However, these concepts are not always the same with each other in every society. In the same way that not everyone in our society believes in the same moral concepts. Unfortunately, it is these disagreements that often separate us as people. Forming different cultures, large and small, throughout the world. This is not a bad thing, but it does separate us as a race, leaving us to care more for one group of people rather than humanity as a whole.
