The Character Analysis Of The Film Smoke Signals
It s a good day to be indigenous! (00:04:55 00:04:56) says Randy Peone, the voice of the KREZ
radio, setting the mood for the whole film, Smoke Signals. Smoke Signals is about Native
Americans, specifically Thomas Builds The Fire, played by Evan Adams, and Victor Joseph,

Abstract
Background:
Pelvic fractures usually occur within major crash high energy scenes, in which urgent
multidisciplinary input is needed (Giannoudis et al., 2007). Acute care of pelvic fractures has
improved in the past ten years yet there are still no formal guidelines or evidence for rehabilitation
of these types of fractures. Patients have long periods of non weight bearing which can cause
problems such as muscle wastage. Neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) has been proven
to minimise muscle loss and enhance recovery (Gondin et al., 2005). However, this has not been
determined within this patient group before.
Objective:
The primary objective of this study was to determine if the application of NMES is feasible in this
patient group. In addition, whether it improves hip abductor and adductor peak torque in pelvic
fracture rehabilitation compared to a placebo group.
Methods:
Seven patients with surgically fixed pelvic fractures were randomly allocated into two groups at
six weeks post fracture. The treatment group completed six weeks of daily NMES. The placebo
group completed six weeks of daily transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS). The
percentage peak torque in the operated limb was measured at 12 weeks using a HUMAC strength
assessment machine using the non operated limb as a baseline.
Results:
No significant difference was found between percentage peak torque difference for operated and
non operated limbs with hip abduction and adduction

II. METHODOLOGY
The methodology that we have used in this study is as follows.During the course, students are
evaluated by means of a multiple choice testing that is an effective assessment technique. Before the
final exam date, all students are requested to self grade. Students propose the mark/grade that they
think they should get for the course. Then, the instructor accepts or declines the proposed mark of
each student as the final mark for the course. This way, only students whose score was declined by
the instructor will have to sit the final exam. Finally, we try to predict the instructor s decision of
accepting or declining the score proposed by students.
We have used two different (initial and new) data mining approaches (see Figure 1).

Although Ernest Hemingway and John Burroughs belonged to different generations and wrote in
different times, Hemingway s Big Two Hearted River (BTHR) and Burroughs A Bed of Boughs
(ABOB) share a particularly intimate connection. Both Hemingway s and Burroughs works are
underlined with spiritual depth and exactitude. The fishing narratives of both Hemingway and
Burroughs, are embedded with precision, and praise for the natural world. Hemingway s BTHR
parallels John Burroughs ABOB in both journey and spirit; both writers find joy, and renewal
through love for natureand total immersion into their landscape. Although, Nick s journey is a

John Feinstein in his book, Cover Up, strongly posits the point that all people should not just
take what is given, but to do further investigation to find out the truth behind all things in life.
John Feinstein uses author s purpose widely in order to get the reader to understand his overall
