Politically we are confronted with a host of issues ranging from matters pertaining to local
taxation, planning, and zoning to regional (if not global) terrorism and other manifestations of
conflict. The study of geography allows us to participate and enjoy our planet. Geography gives
us a sense of reference to where we live and where we may be going in relationship to where we
have been. Its appreciation of the world we live in. Anthropology is the study of human kind and
culture, everybody wants to know where and how humans came to be. Some examples we can
apply anthropology in our daily lives would be in relating to our families, friends, co workers, in
understanding work dynamics, in understanding and communicating with teens,, and in proposing
new ideas, and plans. Its unique contribution to studying the bonds of human social relations been
the distinctive concept of culture.
Sociology is the study of the behavior of people and groups within society. This helps out how
society works and thinks, If people understand how society thinks we can improve it. With this in

According to Merriam Webster, a zealot is a person who has very strong feelings about
something (such as religion or politics) and who wants other people to have those feeling . In the
documentary If a Tree Falls: A Story of the Earth Liberation Front by Marshall Curry, activist
Daniel McGowan us a zealot who is very passionate about the preservation of the forests across the
United States of America. Throughout the documentary, the viewer follows the story of McGowan
as he recites the past events of the Earth Liberation Front (ELF).The ELF is a terroristic group
within the United States whose goal is to stop the destruction of the environment. In If a Tree Falls:

The entire documentary itself is a narration. Due to the documentary being in the format of a
narration, it set up the entire film to incorporate anecdotes and other modes of discourse.
Through the use of anecdotes of multiple activists throughout the entire film, specifically the
one on Daniel McGowan, the viewer is able to get a good idea of how far these people are
willing to go for their cause. For example, Daniel was telling his story of his last operation with
the ELF, and he had to put gasoline around the entire house and in all of the vehicles which are
hooked up to an explosive device. Daniel knew about the consequences of this action and yet he
still went forth with it. His passion for the cause he was fighting for was greater than life itself
which is Curry s main claim. This then leads into the cause and effect portion of the
documentary. Within every action, Daniel considered the consequences, but he ended up
completed the task at hand regardless of the after effects. Daniel is now labeled as a terrorist as
he faces 7 years in prison, but to Daniel, this is all worth it as he believes he has made an impact
for his cause that fought for the preservation of the environment. Another aspect of cause and effect
would be the increase of harsh force used by authorities. At first, the protest led by the activists
were peaceful, but as it

Book Of Mormon Analysis
The foundation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints began with just one sacred
text. Being Christian, Mormons believe in the Old and New Testament used by all Christians,
but they believe in the existence of a third lost book of the Bible known as the Book of Mormon.
In 1823, an angel named Moroni appeared to a then seventeen year old Joseph Smith and told
him about a set of golden plates on which there was a lost book of the bible. However, it was not
until 1827 that Joseph was found worthy to retrieve the plates for translation . The plates were
written in a text referred to as reformed Egyptian , and Mormons believe that God himself showed
Joseph what the text meant. With the help of several scribes, the first edition of... Show more

Those in New York that had converted to the Mormon church began to face persecution, so
Joseph Smith led his followers westward in 1830, stopping in Kirtland, Ohio . Some of the
Mormons stayed to settle down in Kirtland, while others continued on with Joseph Smith to
Jackson County, Missouri, where a second Mormon settlement was established . The two
settlements were peaceful from 1831 to 1838 , but soon the Mormons were driven out and forced
to continue their search for a home . In the year 1839, the Mormons purchased a swampy plot of
land in Illinois, and by the year 1844 had created the beautiful settlement of Nauvoo . However,
Nauvoo was not meant to be the final settlement of the Mormons, for in 1844, the Prophet and
founder of the Church, Joseph Smith, was shot while preaching in Missouri . Fearing more
persecution, and following the new leadership of Brigham Young, the Mormons continued their
journey west, and after the perilous task of crossing the Rocky Mountains, they finally settled
down in Salt Lake City, Utah in the year 1847 . Even today, this remains as the center of the

The Boy Who Cried Wolf Summary
The boy who cried wolf by B.G. Hennessy retells the beloved classic with the dominant theme of
honesty. The plot in this book is what relates to the theme. Because the boy was bored, he
decided to play a trick on the villagers. The boy cries, Wolf! Wolf! and the villagers come running
to help the shepherd boy. When they get to the field and discover the boy was playing a trick on
them they are angry. Later, the boy is bored again and plays the same trick, the villagers come
running to help and again the boy laughs at them for falling for his trick. However, when an
actual wolf comes and the boy yells for help, the villagers think he is playing a trick on them again
and don t come to help him. Therefore, because of the events that take place the boy learns to be
honest or when it counts no one will believe you. The literary concept displayed in The boy who
cried wolf is irony. The young shepherd boy is bored and decides to play a practice joke on the
village people by yelling, Wolf! The village people come ready... Show more content on

Freddo Frogs Experiment Essay
Assumptions Throughout this investigation, several assumptions were made to make the process
of calculations easier. Firstly, it was assumed that the distribution of the weight of the Freddo
Frogs was normally distributed. In addition to this, it was assumed that each of the Freddo Frogs
was produced through the same machine, this way the amount of random errors would be reduced
in the production of the Freddo Frog. However, if any systematic errors were to occur, then it
would go unnoticed as the Freddo Frogs would all have similar masses. Thus, affecting the results
produced through this investigation. In addition to this, it was assumed that the Freddo Frogs were
weighed correctly, however, there may have been some systematic errors that could have occurred,
which would produce inaccurate and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most limiting factor present throughout this investigation was the limited sample size of the

more accurate and reliable results, however, only a sample size of 20 Freddo Frogs were used to
minimize the economical costs involved. Therefore, the results obtained through this investigation
may not have been very accurate or reliable due to the limited sample size. Therefore, a larger
sample size should be used to obtain better results and allow the mathematical functions (Central

A Problem of Punishment
The tension was felt in the air. Ivan Markovitch, the Colonel, and the other paternal uncle were
arguing and arguing over how they should punish Sasha. Sasha had made a promissory note that
he could not pay off. This put him and his valuable family name in a very corrupt position. Sasha
s uncle Ivan was very compassionate with Sasha; feeling sorry that he lost his parents at a young
age. The colonel on the other hand was not so sympathetic towards Sasha. He believed that
Sasha needed to be punished for his actions and should be sent to court where he would have to
take responsibility for his decision. Ivan and the Colonel both stood their ground and refused to
change their view on how Sasha should be punished. Finally, the Colonel convinced Ivan that
Sasha should be sent to court. Ivan, how do you expect Sasha to ever learn from his mistakes if
we keep protecting him from the consequences He needs to deal with his mistakes by himself
Proclaimed the Colonel. Well, you may be right, but look at it from Sasha s perspective he lost
both of his parents and had no guidance growing up. Ivan quickly responded to the Colonel. I
understand Ivan, Sasha unfortunately grew up with no guidance, but that does not make it okay
to baby him for the rest of his life. Sooner or later we will pass away and Sasha will be free to make
whatever decision he chooses to make and will no longer have our protection. The Colonel rebutted
once again. You know what, I guess you are right.

My Letter About My Dear Mi Hur
My dear Mi hur, It is wonderful beyond words to hear from you after this hiatus, though I wish it
had been under different circumstances. I doubt you will be surprised to hear how many emails
I have received in the past week that were if less eloquent very like yours in substance: How
could your country do this? How could you be so foolish? I suspect your own horrified
questions, like theirs, are essentially rhetorical; that you do not expect replies. As a matter of
fact, though, I do know what has overtaken my country. To explain it I am afraid I have to
digress rather substantially. After you left for Seoul and I dropped out of graduate school, I
comforted myself, as better men have before me, on the seedier corners of the Internet. In my
green years I had amused myself by sparring with Usenet creationists and spamming Goatse

Pros And Cons Of Surveillance In 1984
Surveillance, or a close watch kept over someone or something for a specific purpose, features
prominently in George Orwell s dystopian novel 1984. The book follows Winston Smith, a
middle aged man who lives in the futuristic society of Oceania, where the government of the
Party, under the leadership of Big Brother, maintains strict control of the people and prevents
free thought through propaganda, censorship, and surveillance. Winston tries to think freely
while evading detection and succeeds for a time in having an affair with his co conspirator Julia,
but the Party eventually captures and re educates both. Surveillance has also become a
controversial issue in today s society, as Heather Kelly discusses in her article After Boston: The
pros and cons of surveillance cameras . Kelly presents both sides of the debate concerning the role
of surveillance in fighting crime, especially in light of the Boston Marathon bombings. Supporters
of surveillance point to its ability to increase safety and security by deterring crime and assisting in
criminal investigations. However, opponents worry that it intrudes too much on the privacy of
citizens, violating what they consider people s right to privacy. Though in 1984 Orwell portrays
surveillance as dystopian because it helps enforce the restriction of free thought by constantly
watching for any abnormal expression, Heather Kelly shows in her article After Boston that
surveillance in today s world is more utopian since it helps

with wheels means a guy could run. A guy with strong arm had a hose. Each time a baseballscout
scouted Billy Beane all they saw was a future big league star. Mets had the first pick of the 1980,

We can see that in this world people are conditioned to like drugs and things like that so it s no
wonder they become addicts to the thing. In the real world drugs are seen as bad as robbing a
bank, but in the book taking drugs is as normal as showering, we can see this comparison when
Linda says What I had to suffer and not a gramme of soma to be had. Only a drink of mescal
every now and then, when PopГ© used to bring it. PopГ© is a boy I used to know. But it makes
you feel so bad afterwards, the mescal does, and you re sick with the peyotl; besides it always
made that awful feeling of being ashamed much worse the next day. And I was so ashamed. (pg.
120) We can see that in the book the reservation is a reflection of our world and taking alcohol as
much as linda did is bad and seen poorly, but back in her world is was as common as anything
else which is why she suffers a lot when she loses her access to drugs. Another time we see this
socially acceptable behavior is when Huxley show us Lenina s addiction to soma Lenina felt
herself entitled, after this day of queerness and horror, to a complete and absolute holiday. As
soon as they got back to the rest house, she swallowed six half gramme tablets of soma, lay down
on her bed, and within ten minutes had embarked for lunar eternity. It would be eighteen hours at
the least before she was in time again. (pg.

A flash flood is a rapid flooding of geomorphic low lying areas washes, rivers, dry lakes and basins.
It may be caused by heavy rain associated with a storm, hurricane, or tropical storm or melt water
from ice or snow flowing over ice sheets or snowfields. Flash floods can also occur after the
collapse of a natural ice or debris dam, or a human structure such as a man made dam, as occurred
before the Johnstown Floodof 1889. Flash floods are distinguished from a regular flood by a
timescale less than six hours. The temporary availability of water is often utilized by plants with

Essay about Labor Unions’ Involvement in Politics
External advocacy and political involvement is deeply engrained in the culture of labor unions.
Bill Fletcher Jr. writes myth 8: the union uses our money for political action and I have no say in
the matter, in his novel They re Bankrupting Us And 20 Other Myths about Unions. In this myth,
Bill Fletcher Jr. addresses unions and how they take political action. Labor unions often take
political action in a controversial way, while not always getting full advantage of their work.
Fletcher says that when unions and politics come together, people especially interpret unions
missions and their power critically. He does not expand on how he titles the myth, but skims the
surface on union consensus regarding politics. The myth is about the ... Show more content on

If a member did not support the union s choice of candidate, the member could easily refuse to give
money. Politics within the union movement have narrowed and less people are involved in making
decisions, due to the disengagement of members in political affairs. However, at the level of
political action, Fletcher states that engagement can only be achieved through dialogue with union
members. When members are engaged in political action, their views are respected.
From the beginning, union involvement in political and legislative matters has been a component
of unions and their external advocacy. When labor unions first began forming, political parties
that represented the interests of the workforce began forming as well. However, due to the
bipartisan power in the United States, it is hard for third parties to succeed electorally, which
ultimately ended the idea of a labor party. This is why the American Federation of Labor believed
that labor should not form its own parties, but should lobby the current two party system. With the
lack of a labor party, labor unions often back the Democratic Party, even though Democrats may
not always act in favor of the labor force. Some may see lobbying the two parties as counter
productive, since the influence of wealth and the corporate world takes some sort of precedence to
the labor unions.

Analysis Of The Chains Of Slavery By Jean-Paul Marat
Man has the right to deal with his oppressors by devouring their palpitating hearts. Although harsh,
Jean Paul Marat s words resonate strongly with the ideals he pushed for in revolutionary France.
With his newspaper and political positions, Marat pushed for a complete eradication of the noble
class in current power, advanced the Convention beliefs, and pressed for liberal changes throughout
the Parisian government. According to Ide, In Marat s newsletter L Ami du peuple, meaning friend
of the people, he intensely criticized the upper class and nobles throughout France. Even before his

France and put him to death. King Louis s death, the pressures the National Convention created to

(Vidalenc 2014, pg. 1). Besides the desire of the Convention to purge the government of wealthy
nobles, Marat also pushed for the elimination of the Girondins in the Convention the article Jean

after the Girondins s expulsion from the Convention, leading to more power in the hands of Marat

Analysis Of A Small Place By Jamaica Kincaid
Antigua is a small island that was discovered in 1493, by Christopher Columbus. The natives that
lived there were made slaves by the British and the economy thrived on producing sugar. In 1834
the British abolished slavery giving Antigua its independence. The sugar industry was failing so the
economy relied on tourism. A Small Placeby Jamaica Kincaidis about Antigua. Kincaid narrates her
novel in second person, blaming the tourists for ruining the culture of Antigua. Kincaid explains
that the British were cruel to the Antiguan people but she forgives them for it. Kincaid also talked
about how the Government is currently corrupt and how beautiful Antigua s land is. Kincaids
novel is broken up into four parts that address all of these issues in Antigua. The way A Small
Place by Jamaica Kincaid was written is effective in the way that it tries to persuade and inform the
readers.
In part one of A Small Place, Kincaid tries to persuade the readers, she does this by talking directly
to them. Kincaid says that the tourists ruin the culture and that they are not justified in coming to
Antigua for a vacation. Kincaid thinks that tourism is ugly, an ugly thing, that is what you are
when you become a tourist (Kincaid 17). Kincaid is trying to persuade the reader instead of
informing them with a fact or observation. This direct use of second person is successful to
persuade the reader. It is successful because the reader might feel guilty for traveling and might
change his or her perspective on traveling.
In part four of A Small Place, Kincaid tries to persuade the reader. Kincaid tries to make the
reader think that Antiguas beauty is unreal. Kincaid also instead of informing you with facts or
observations talks about how the British should be punished for enslaving Antiguans and says in
her opinion why they did it. Kincaid wants the reader to feel that Europeans are truly unhappy, to
satisfy their desire for wealth and power, to feel better about their own miserable existence, so that
they could be less lonely and empty a European disease (Kincaid 80). This use of persuasion
successfully makes you think about human nature. It makes the reader think of why people would
enslave others for money and power.

Self Identity And Personality Development
I grew up in an average middle class family, where I attend a public primary school during the early
years of my life. Primary school was rather simple reason been most of the pupils were friendly and
there was so social division both inside and outside of class. However, once I entered high school
life became different with the existence of classes due to boundaries between the well behaved
students who were also classified as middle classand the students who were rude and involve
themselves in truancy was considered middle class. During this time, my personality and emotional
developments were developing and with the emotional support from my parents my self identity
was enhanced. Which in turn gave me the foundation to become the person I am now. Emotional
and Personality development can have a positive outcome on behaviors, learning and the decision
that are made in schools this then can lead to a stronger self identity. Self identity in adolescenceis
composed of two concepts. First, are self concept this is referred to permanent assessments of
oneself such as knowledge of one self skills and abilities, also the personality traits and attributes.
For example, an adolescent may have negative academic self concept because of the bad grades
they are receiving but have a positive athletic self concept because they are a star which refers
athlete. Secondly is self esteemwhich refers to the global evaluative dimension of the self. This can
be seen as how the adolescence

London Is The International Capital Of The World
It s safe to say that London is the international capital of the world, nestled perfectly in between the
west and the east, it has the ability to have an effect on the entire world culturally, politically, and
economically. It is for these reasons that London has emerged recently as the financial center of the
world. As regulation and immigration issues have slowed down New York, London has attracted
companies and investors that are looking for a save haven in turbulent times, London is seen as an
attractive location for foreign investment because it is seen as a very stable and secure city. Perhaps
the most attractive product that this international hub provides to foreign investors is real estate.
According to Financial Times, prime London housing prices have risen 73 percent from March
2009 to November 2014, this kind of substantial increase in property value is exactly what
international inventors are looking for (Norwood). Looking at Forbes study surveying where
international investors are putting their money proves this statement, 63% of investors increased
their property portfolios in the U.K. with London leading all European cities with 43% followed
by Paris with 19% and Frankfurt with 14% (Rapoza). Chief Executive of the Association of
Foreign Investors in Real Estate said this about the attractiveness of London, It s very easy to
invest in London, there are no restrictions, the tax regime is good for foreign investors. And it s an
international city so it attracts

The Characters in The Matrix Essay
The Characters in The Matrix
The Matrix (Wachowski Wachowski 1999) is a battery powering an unending chatter of thought,
images, productions, and discourse. In the film, a stabbing needle penetrates the black plug
mounted on the back of a human skull, and the mind is overwhelmed by the matrix, an extensive
simulacral world that, to its unknowing inhabitants, is in every way the same as reality, and to those
merely passing through, is a sinister, green tinted prison. The film sets, by dialogue and symbolism,
a place for analysis, theology, theory, philosophy, and criticism that accommodates any stance
within a language of freedom, choice, perception, reality, simulation, mind, computer code, and
body. Rationalizations of and within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The philosophical conventions at play are a string of universalizing contentions about the ways of
Man, Truth, and the World. What is striking in the appropriation of so many minutes of screen time
into rational argument is the theoretical inevitability into which they stumble as if for the first time
and in a serendipitous glee. Is (discussion of) the film finally to be a moment of truth?
It is high time we rid ourselves of the notion that we can somehow free ourselves from illusion (or
from ideology) by recognizing and theorizing our own entrapment within it. Such dialectical
maneuvers tend, ironically, to reinforce the very objects of their critique. They achieve their
explanatory power at the price of transforming local, contingent phenomena into transcendental
conditions or developmental necessities. The self reflexive theorizing that allows us to become
aware of certain structural constraints also ends up echoing and amplifying those constraints,
reproducing them on a larger scale. (Shaviro 11 12)
When ЕЅiЕѕek rejoices, inconsistencies are the film s moment of truth (ЕЅiЕѕek 12), the
recognition of an inconsistency in the film is the simultaneous codification of consistent principles
where what was present before can be forgotten[1]. The wholism of such maneuvers follows

Summary
This article is about how Tim Horton s recent ball hockey sponsorship has offended many
Canadians. The children displayed in the advertisement are Rosy cheeked children chas[ing] a ball
around the snow packed surface at Montreal s Fete des Neiges. A Quebec anti obesity group
voiced that illegal advertising is involved and is causing children to live unhealthy lifestyles

However, after the Fifa scandal that occurred in 2015, sponsors are now regretting their
decisions of associating their brand with Fifa. Big sponsor companies like Adidas, Kia, Coca

reassess their sponsorships. In the most recent Fifa event that took place, Fifa s top six Global
Partners (Adidas, Coca Cola, Gazprom, Hyundai/Kia, Visa, Budweiser, and McDonalds) paid a
total of $177 million annually. After this serious scandal occurred, it is unpredictable as to how
successful Fifa will be in receiving sponsorships in the future.
The Fifa article is relevant to the sponsorships segment of the learning strand because it talks
about how upset sponsors are about the recent Fifa scandal. Since there was allegedly cheating
through bribery that occurred, an ethical dilemma exists because companies are not interested in
funding for the Fifa and receiving advertisements in return. Since this isn t the first time that there

The Correlation between Parental Affection and Future Adult Relationships
A recent study showed that a person s upbringing is the core foundation and influence on future
relationships. According to Currie (as cited in Tayler, 2015) it has been shown that a child s early
encounters shape the brain foundation for future behaviors. Parent to child relationship is the core
foundation in a child s development. (Butcher, R. L., Gersch, 2014) Attachment theorist John Bolby
showed that having emotional relationship with a child s main caregiver is the key foundation to
that child s personality and behavior. (as cited in Butcher, et al. 2014) A warm, positive early
relationship in a child s life leads to them developing strong emotional and social capability, which
in turn directs them into making positive future relationships with others. (Hanko, 2006) Thus, the
purpose of the present study is to establish whether positive, nurturing parental upbringing is related
to positive, successful adult romantic relationship.
Childhood Relationships A large body of research has demonstrated the importance of a strong,
nurturing parental foundation and the benefits it has on future adult companionship. (Hanko,2006 )

Sir Edmund Hillary And Tenzing Norgay
How can humans impact the world around them? This may seem hard to answer, but people are
already impacting Mount Everest, and not in a positive way. People that choose to climb Mount
Everest are causing many problems. They drop off items all around the mountain, and even
compete with previous records. These can result with either a venue of pollution or even death. This
can change Mount Everest, by turning it from a place of enjoyment into a place of destruction.
To begin, people love to complete missions, but their drive to do so can result in death. The text
authenticates, On May 29, 1953, Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay became the first people
known to reach the summit of Mount Everest, the world s highest mountain. In doing so, the men
set a precedent that many climbers spend their lives trying to reproduce...Before Hillary and
Norgay s historic accomplishment, many climbers had tried to reach Mount Everest s summit but
failed. In some cases, climbers even died trying, (Source #1, paragraphs 1 and 3). This justifies that
many people are attempting to overtake the record of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay.
Accordingly, the climbers are very competitive, and this causes many injuries towards others or
themselves while trying. The antagonistic behavior can also cause many deaths. The text also

though never to the summit. Norgay was a Sherpa, one of the mountain

International Market and Trade Research in Ireland
International market and trade research is beyond the capabilities and needs of the small Irish
exporter. Discuss.
International Marketing and Trade Research follows the very same path as domestic research, only
that there are a few more problems that can arise when entering the international market. Customers
in international markets may have very different customs, cultures, and expectations from the same
company than those in their own mother country. In this case, secondary information must be
collected from each separate country and then combined, or compared. This is a time consuming
process and can be confusing but is it beyond the capabilities of the small Irish exporter?

Geographic distance would be a definite problem for the small Irish exporter being that Ireland is an
island on the edge of Europe so physical remoteness is an issue for export etc. But on the upscale

for the small exporter. The difference in climate that can occur in Ireland depending on the product
could raise some issues also. Bearing these factors in mind, conducting a feasibility study before
considering a prospective market would be an excellent idea.
Economic distance especially now more so than ever with the EU bailout of Ireland, financial
resources are at an all time low and many markets might be dubious about trading with an Irish
exporter. There could be difference in costs and quality of natural resources, financial resources,
human resources, infrastructure, intermediate inputs or information or knowledge. However our
natural and human resource standards remain very high aswell as a highly educated workforce so
the exporter should be capable of breaking into some foreign markets based on Ireland s continued
good reputation internationally.
It really would depend exactly on what specific type of industry the small Irish firm was dealing in.

Choosing The Correct Replacement For An Aged Roof
Choosing the correct replacement for an aged roof or identifying the best choice for a new
building is no easy task. The perfect roofing solution for one building may be the worst option for
another just down the street. That s because no two buildings are precisely alike, even if they
closely resemble each other. So how do you choose a new roof, given all the choices in the
marketplace? You can start by asking a series of questions, before you choose the roof, the roofing
contractor or the manufacturer.
1. What is this building s mission statement?
Before calls are made to roofing contractors or manufacturers, the first item to address is the
company s mission statement as it relates to the building.
Whether you are building new facilities or managing existing properties, you want to be confident
that the roofing systems you select deliver the performance you expect. More often than not, the
building itself dictates the appropriate roofing system specification.
You need to know as much about the building and its future as possible. Does the company plan to
keep this building as part of its real estate assets for the next 10 to 20 years? Are there any plans to
expand it in the near future, or to change its use? What are its current and future occupancy,
insulation requirements, aesthetic priorities and even the maintenance schedules for rooftop
equipment?
These and other mission statement issues will help shape answers to types of roofing to consider

Maturational Perspective of Motor Development
Mental intelligence, interests, abilities, personality and behaviour tendencies are affected by nature
and nurture. Nature vs. nurture is an ongoing debate between genetic inheritances and
environmental factors that shape development. Nature, also known as heredity, is the genetic code
a person is born with. In motor development, nature refers to the genetic inheritance of
characteristics and tendencies that influence development. The maturational perspective of motor
development focuses on nature influences. The maturational perspective explains functions of
maturational processes, particularly through the central nervous system, which control or dictate

(Haywood et al., 2012) Therefore, as a person s central nervous system develops, their motor skills
develop. Shirley s research supports the idea that a person s motor development is an internal
process determined by biological processes. Specific problems in the body cause motor delays.
Motor delay means following a normal course of development at a level below suggested
expectations for that child s age. Problems with an internal system, the central nervous system,
can lead to very specific movement problems. The cerebrum is a part of the central nervous
system, if damaged it will limit or eliminate modulation, cause astereognosis and agnosia, damage
reflexes, and impair laterality. Apraxia is a motor disorder caused by the damage of the cerebrum.
Apraxia is a disorder of motor planning. Children with apraxia are clumsy and poorly coordinated
when learning new motor tasks. Their advancement with new motor skills is not as efficient as
other children. This is because their movement is very stiff, they have extraneous movements, seem
to not understand where their body is in space, and have trouble with eye hand and eye foot
coordination. (Payne Isaacs, 2012) The damage in a child s central nervous system, in this case
cerebrum, result in a natural motor delay. This specific disorder supports the maturational
perspective. Apraxia is an internal process determining change in a child s motor development.

street since the Chinese preferred not to eat or drink in public. Starbucks no smoking policy came
out of its desire for nothing cologne, perfume, nor tobacco smoke to interfere with the smell of
their dark roasted beans. Upon entering Asia, Starbucks stuck with its no smoking policy, which

Although the Chinese dislike drinking in public, the high awareness of the brand and the Chinese

public consumption, as customers go to Starbucks if not for the coffee, but to present themselves as

as expected. For instance, situations of despair may cause feelings of depression and uncertainty to

Buddhism Is A Religion Of Escapism
Buddhism is a philosophy and a religion based on the teachings of the Buddha, Siddhartha
Gautama who lived approximately 566 B.C.E. Today, Buddhism has millions of followers
worldwide, known as Buddhists. (Ballou, 1976) Most practicing Buddhists believe in concepts such
as karma, dharma, samsara and nirvana. In addition to these, Buddhists base their lives and actions
on the Four Noble Truthsand the Noble Eightfold. Fortress (1999) explains that the name Buddha
is a title that means one who has been awakened or the Enlightened One . On his quest for
enlightenment and spirituality, Buddha escaped the life he knew as a husband and father, and
turned to a life of meditation, along with ascetic practices. He lived much of his life as a monk in

it is a religion of escapism or whether Buddhist live in denial of reality. First, according to

something that is difficult or unpleasant . Escapism is the natural human reaction to suffering,
nobody wants to suffer so we do what we can to get away from it. Humans are known to substitute

of living a successful life, yet it remains unachievable. The plot of the story revolves around
George and Lennie, a pair of migrant farmers that work towards their personal dream of owning
personal land for by working on a ranch where they must attempt to cooperate with the multiple
personalities of the other workers to gain enough money to leave the ranch for their dream.
Throughout the story, multiple characters strive for the American Dream, seeking fulfillment in
their lives, but achievement of the dream proved to be insurmountable by the experience of Curley

Curley s wife relied on the possibility that her dream would come true, though the opportunity
had clearly passed while also living a life without any genuine friends. Likewise, George always
subconsciously felt that he could never own his own land with Lennie because there wasn t a
sufficient margin for error to accommodate for Lennie s inevitable mistakes. Finally, as strongly
as Crooks sought equality, he knew there was no real leniency for change because his position in
life would always be definite. Overall, an analytical reader of this story can reveal the darker,
depressing side to not only the book, but the American Dream as a whole. The audience can learn
that no matter how hard you try to change fate, the overall outcome will not be

The Nazi Regime Used Propaganda Posters
The Nazi regime used propaganda posters to primarily expose the German people to a new way
of thinking. In charge of distributing and overseeing the creation of a majority of the
propagandist posters was Dr. Paul Joseph Goebbels. Born in Rheydt, Germany he created and
ran the Third Reich Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda. There, his goal was to
play upon the hopes, fears, and frustrations of the German people. Then, he wished to harness
those same emotions to spark a German movement and war. Goebbels believed that the written
word, instead of the spoke word, was responsible or countless great events in history. In his
posters he hoped that: Today every German soldier, worker, and pleasant knows what we are
fighting for. This is not a war for thorn and altar; it is a war for wheat and bread, for a full table
three times a day, a war of achievement of material means necessary for a solution of the social
question. There was fire in his blood, and it would end up clearly manifesting in his work on
propaganda posters. Initially Nazi propagandists used niche marketing to connect their posters to
all aspects of German life. Under niche marketing, they concentrated their efforts on smaller, yet
influential groups of people. Some examples included woman working in homes, farmers, factory
workers, and war veterans. If the government could get the support of those distinct groups, then
they knew they would have a strong support base to rely and rally on for

Phy Irradiation Essay
Enhancement of the conductivity and dielectric properties of PVA/Ag nanocomposite films using
Оі irradiation.

Physics Department, Faculty of Science, Suez Canal University, Ismailia, Egypt
Abstract
The influence of gamma irradiation on the electrical and dielectric properties of AgNO3/ PVA
films was investigated. The films were prepared by in situ chemical reduction techniques, then
irradiated with different gamma doses (25, 50, 75, 100, 125 KGy). The content of the Ag in the
PVA film were determined by using atomic absorption spectroscopy (AA), and were found to be
0.4 wt %. The films have been characterized through dielectric spectroscopy and I V measurements.
As a result, the dielectric constant (Оµ) value decreases as the gamma irradiation doses increase.
The conductivity of the films and dielectric loss (tan Оґ) of increases with increasing the gamma
irradiation doses. The conductivity was found (Пѓ = 4.9 x10в€’8 S mв€’1) for 125 KGy. Frank
poole emission is the prevailing transport mechanism for all samples.

Prada Ipo or Not Essay
Problem: Prada requires a significant amount of capital both to re finance debt that is maturing in
the next six to twelve months and to finance its intended growth into the Asian (especially Chinese)
markets
Alternative Solutions:
#1) IPO: (Initial Public Offering) Cons: High tax and pricing We received little demand from our
(retail) clients for the (Prada) shares. It might be the 12.5 percent tax that scared them away and the
pricing itself was expensive when it compared with its peers, said Alfred Chan, chief dealer at
Cheer Pearl Investment. Unlike institutions, our retail clients hold the shares for a much shorter
term, he added.
Consumers are willing to pay a very high premium chasing after brands, but ... Show more content

If Chanel was not posting incredible results, no one would know. But if they were public and this
was known, some customers would say that the brand was not cool anymore this is a risk.
Prada raised US$2.14 billion from a Hong Kong IPO in June last year. That was around a fifth
less capital than the company had planned for. As things transpired, retail investors were put off by
the prospect of Italian capital gains and dividend taxes, which they were liable to pay (even though
the listing was in Hong Kong).
.
the share price shot up in July but then proceeded to lose around a third of its value to December,
as investors panicked about stock market and real estate declines.
The New York Stock Exchange, the biggest in the world by market capitalisation, was arguably a
safer choice.
That the share price has been so volatile is a measure of the risk in instigating an IPO in relatively
uncharted waters.
Risk is a core reason why other luxury goods companies, with an eye on a Hong Kong listing,
have hesitated. Prada was bold in its listing strategy, and that has to be one of the biggest lessons.
It is one thing to identify emerging Asia and China in particular as the sweet spot of luxury goods
opportunity, it is another to act on it
Prada has moved speedily away from a wholesale model, which was shown to have fundamental
weaknesses in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis

The Mission Of Southeast Online
The mission of Southeast Online (SEO) is not just to provide students with the best possible service

though students in an online degree program are the primary population that SEO assists,
traditional students with enrollment in online classes and all visiting students are also well served.

Research Paper On Teenagers And Alcohol
Teenagers and Alcohol Research Paper Everyday is a new beginning full of opportunities which
entail decision making. Now, there is a multitude of choices that can be made, some smart, some
quick, and the list goes on. However, when the question comes up about teens and drinking, the
answers should always be smart this is just not the case in most instances. Alcohol comes with
consequences, regardless of age. The impact on lives is almost always negative, with the ability
to ruin lives within just a few drinks. Teenagers and Alcohol are not supposed to be mixed for
numerous reasons such as the detrimental impact on the young mind and body, lessened self
control, and lowered academic performance. The question that is frequently asked among teens
who feel as if they want to experiment with alcohol is whether or not a safe form of alcohol
exists. Contrary to popular belief in teen culture, no, there is not a ВЁsafeВЁ form of alcohol.
There is alcohol in every alcoholic drink, the amount of alcohol varies depending on the drink. The
more one drinks, the more they will be impaired. There are countless types of alcohol, including

This leads to the impression that alcohol is just a drink people take to lighten up. Also, I do not
think alcohol should be displayed as the fun, right of passage drink for teens as well as young
adults the way it is currently being advertised in movies like 21 and Over, and Shameless.
Contrary to this, I also believe that the social stigma for those who choose not to drink has
definitely improved from the time my older siblings were in school. At a party or other event, if a
teen decides to not drink, they are not ostracized and instead respected for their decision and
honesty. However, this behavior could definitely be more widespread, but it has to start
somewhere, in order for the stigma to go

Automatic System In The Odyssey
There are two sides from where a person can analyze a certain situation. The right of one person
might be wrong for another. Moreover there the biases can be found in our routine works. Though
one is not aware of them, but they arise. Dr. Spock mind and the Homer mind are having different
way of thinking. There are usually two systems that play very crucial role in people way of doing
things. Automatic System is based over institution, and Reflective System is based over rationality.
The automatic system comes in to use without premeditation. It is automatic and is the reaction of
a certain situation.
There are many people in the world that usually do not know what they are speaking; this might be
intentional or owing to the natural disposition of speaking without analyzing the situation. Mr.
Spock of Star Trek fame is having its reflective system in control. He knows how and what to
speak in certain situations. Mr. Spock is the symbol of respect and assistance. His mind is always
calm and composed. He knows the best course of action in a certain situation. He is the planner
who plans things after taking into consideration all the factors surrounding him. He is a self control
person. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is no control over the reflective system. His level of thinking is based over the automatic
system and he speaks and acts in accordance to that. He is the opposite of Mr. Spock. One can
find many people in the world like Mr. Spock who not only think of himself but the general
welfare of the people. His mind is devoted towards the betterment of the people. Those having
this level of thinking are far sighted and worried about others. Moreover the mind of Mr. Spock is
also free from any sort of bias; he thinks openly but rationally. Homers are the opposite of the

Promotional Strategies Essay
How do I get my product/service out there? This is a question that many people who plan to
begin their own businesses, or even larger companies who have already established a name for
themselves, frequently ask. Your product or service may be the latest and greatest on the market
today, but that doesn t help you if no one knows it exists. You need to find someway to make
yourself and your product known.
That is where promotion comes into play. But what exactly is promotion? Well, www.dictionary

The act of promoting or the fact of being promoted; advancement.
Encouragement of the progress, growth, or acceptance of something; furtherance.
Advertising; publicity.

Specialty advertising, etc.
So knowing this lets take a look at some media promotions.
My first example comes from 1986. The Atari had its day in the sun and had been retired to that
big cardboard box in the closet to make room for the new generation of video gaming system, the
Nintendo Entertainment System (N.E.S. Or Super Famicom, as it was called in Japan, which my
first example will show). Until now game consoles only offered little men made of black and
white squares running across a background also made of black and white squares. The N.E.S.
offered so much more. It gave you little men made of blocks running across backgrounds also
made of blocks, but this time with 8 bit color!
Of course a system is only as good as its games. That is where my example one comes in. This is
a Japaneses promotional commercial for The Legend of Zelda game1. This game is Nintendo s
love child. It allowed them to climb into the game market and remain there for more than 20 years.
See, to attract people s attention you need to exploit popular trends. Back in the 1980 dance music
was becoming very popular, what with the introduction of artists line Inxs and Cyndi Lauper. So
Nintendo made a bold move, hired a bunch of dancers, and turned the commercial into a music
video.

Theme Of Dreams In The Epic Of Gilgamesh
Since the beginning of time, every being on Earth has slept. Along with sleeping, dreams appear.
From the mind, dreams come and can often show one s deepest thoughts. These dreams have
endless interpretations and an impact on future actions. Because dreams can mean anything and are
the foundation for more intense feelings, dreams were used in the earliest form of literature. The
Epic of Gilgameshuses the concept of dreams to explain Gilgamesh s future ambitions. Gilgamesh
s dreams provide visions compiled of different ideas and the way he interprets those dreams affect
the decisions he makes.
In one of Gilgamesh s dreams, he views a meteor, fell down from heaven (Sanders 2). Then his
mother, Ninsun, announces it is Gilgamesh s brother, Enkidu. However, Ninsun takes from his
dream that she created Enkidu and he will love Gilgamesh forever. These discoveries indicate
whoever is the meteor is going to be Gilgamesh s family. Although Gilgamesh feels loved, he
doesn t feel the companionship that his mother feels with Enkidu. It is also believed as
symbolism for the life death cycle (Garth 13). This symbol is the constant circle of life and death.
When one dies, another comes onto Earth. Gilgamesh s has died in a sense and Enkidu was born
to help rebuild Gilgamesh. This is hinted because Enkidu has been created, and has started a new
life for both himself and Gilgamesh. More or less, this dream started a chain of events.
This cause and effect sequence started the course of

International Trade
Fair Trade There is only one international organization that deals with global trade and that is The
World Trade Organization (WTO). The WTO deals with the rules countries use when trading
between each other. The goal is to help producers of goods and services, exporters, and importers
conduct their business (WTO, 2011). The WTO helps with trade negotiations, implementation and
monitoring, dispute settlement, building trade capacity, and outreach. The WTO is a great
organization with the intent to organize fair trade between all countries. But what the WTO cannot
do is make a country join. And many countries are not involved with the WTO and some need

Industrial policy is more common in countries in Asia. Carbaugh used Japan as an example of
industrial policy by explaining how Japan did so with some of their key industries. According to
Schuman, many analysts have made the mistake of believing Asia s ascent was crafted by its
bureaucrats, when in fact, it was created by its businessmen. The future of the American economy,
too, will be found in its private boardrooms, not government offices. Schuman may be onto
something. There are pros and cons to every approach. The key if finding the right balance that
creates a win win situation for all involved.
Trade Problems of Developing Nations Many developing nations tend to try manufacturing as a way
to become active in the international trade market. These nations offer cheap labor to companies.
This cheap labor tends to give some of the population a better life and a way to provide for their
families. Issues that arise in developing countries is that if the demand for commodities is low and
the changes in price do not bring a change in demand, then prices can fall sharply. When prices fall,
so does revenue. If companies are not making money, they may move out of the country to another
area.
Import Substitution and Export led Growth Import substitution is when industries producing goods
that are normally imported are protected from foreign competition. This allows an industry to have
growth and to establish themselves.

which lead him to be determined to make the very next year. So in the next summer Michael

Acute Myeloid Leukemia
This year in the United States there will be an estimated 1,665,540 diagnosed cancer cases and
585,720 deaths due to the disease.1 Cancer ranks as the second most common cause of death in the
US only behind heart disease. As cancer accounts for nearly a quarter of all deaths in the United
States2, many people view the diagnosis of cancer as a death sentence. This feeling of hopelessness
can lead patients to make questionable decisions regarding treatment options. While current
advances have led to increasingly positive prognoses for those diagnosed with differing forms of
cancer, the significant death rate among those same patients may deter cancer patients from seeking
traditional therapies and treatments. What people often times do not realize is that most of these
alternative forms of treatment that have not been proven to be effective may be more detrimental
to patients health than the actual cancer itself. In order to fully understand the effectiveness of the
treatments that a patient is going to receive, it is important to look not only the physiological
effects of the treatments themselves, but also the effects of the disease.
Each year in the United States roughly 2.4 per every 100,000 Americans under the age of 65 are
diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, and 12.6 per 100,000 are diagnosed over the age of 65 10.
Up until the 1970s the five year survival rates for affected patients was less than 15 percent.

Employee Turnover At My Current Company
Employee Turnover James Thurkettle Management 317 12/3/14 One of the biggest problems at
my current company is that we have a high number of employee turnovers. Some may ask what
employee turnover is? How would you define it? Employee turnover is the ratio of the number
of workers that had to be replaced in a given time period to the average number of workers. In
human resources, turnover or staff turnover is the rate at which an employer loses and gains
employees. By using methods that have proven successful for several different companies like
improved screening and interview processes and recording the cost from before and after
implementation of a plan we can accurately gauge conditions and adapt the plan as necessary to
dramatically reduce the effects and causes of employee turnover. Turnover is measured for
individual companies and for their industry as a whole. If an employer is said to have a high
turnover relative to its competitors, it means that employees of that company have a shorter
average time with the company than those of other companies in the same industry. This can be a
scary trend as high turnover may be harmful to a company s productivity. This is especially
harmful if skilled workers are often leaving and the worker population contains a high percentage
of rookie or novice workers. Research and observations show that an experienced employee often
has an insight to the details of the processes that make up each individual job and that

How Did Rasputin Influence The Royal Family
Grigory Yefimovich Rasputin was born January 10th, 1869 in the small Siberian village of
Pokrovskoe. At a young age some villagers believed Rasputin had the ability to employ
supernatural powers such as having visions and curative powers. Varying accounts of Rasputin s
life have a common legend where Rasputin was sick in bed and a collection of peasants came to
him in an attempt to discover who had stolen a horse. It is alleged Rasputin rose up from his bed
and pointed at the horse thief. The accused peasant denied stealing the horse and it is reported
Rasputin was beaten. However, that very same evening two other peasants followed the accused
and observed him leading the stolen horse from his shed and into the forest (Aprelenko, 2011).

In fact in the 1920 s a group of Russian s reportedly had possession of Rasputin s penis, which

Rasputin, it is apparent finding a true and accurate account of his life and death may not be
possible. Even the accounts from the eyewitnesses or co conspirators do not support one another.
However, what can be garnered from all accounts is Rasputin enthralled a nation with his charisma
and machinations while he was alive. Additionally, his death has only engorged his legacy even
further inspiring the imaginations of humanity across the

  • 3. Tree Falls According to Merriam Webster, a zealot is a person who has very strong feelings about something (such as religion or politics) and who wants other people to have those feeling . In the documentary If a Tree Falls: A Story of the Earth Liberation Front by Marshall Curry, activist Daniel McGowan us a zealot who is very passionate about the preservation of the forests across the United States of America. Throughout the documentary, the viewer follows the story of McGowan as he recites the past events of the Earth Liberation Front (ELF).The ELF is a terroristic group within the United States whose goal is to stop the destruction of the environment. In If a Tree Falls: A Story of the Earth Liberation Front the ELF starts out using peaceful protests... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The entire documentary itself is a narration. Due to the documentary being in the format of a narration, it set up the entire film to incorporate anecdotes and other modes of discourse. Through the use of anecdotes of multiple activists throughout the entire film, specifically the one on Daniel McGowan, the viewer is able to get a good idea of how far these people are willing to go for their cause. For example, Daniel was telling his story of his last operation with the ELF, and he had to put gasoline around the entire house and in all of the vehicles which are hooked up to an explosive device. Daniel knew about the consequences of this action and yet he still went forth with it. His passion for the cause he was fighting for was greater than life itself which is Curry s main claim. This then leads into the cause and effect portion of the documentary. Within every action, Daniel considered the consequences, but he ended up completed the task at hand regardless of the after effects. Daniel is now labeled as a terrorist as he faces 7 years in prison, but to Daniel, this is all worth it as he believes he has made an impact for his cause that fought for the preservation of the environment. Another aspect of cause and effect would be the increase of harsh force used by authorities. At first, the protest led by the activists were peaceful, but as it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Book Of Mormon Analysis The foundation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints began with just one sacred text. Being Christian, Mormons believe in the Old and New Testament used by all Christians, but they believe in the existence of a third lost book of the Bible known as the Book of Mormon. In 1823, an angel named Moroni appeared to a then seventeen year old Joseph Smith and told him about a set of golden plates on which there was a lost book of the bible. However, it was not until 1827 that Joseph was found worthy to retrieve the plates for translation . The plates were written in a text referred to as reformed Egyptian , and Mormons believe that God himself showed Joseph what the text meant. With the help of several scribes, the first edition of... Those in New York that had converted to the Mormon church began to face persecution, so Joseph Smith led his followers westward in 1830, stopping in Kirtland, Ohio . Some of the Mormons stayed to settle down in Kirtland, while others continued on with Joseph Smith to Jackson County, Missouri, where a second Mormon settlement was established . The two settlements were peaceful from 1831 to 1838 , but soon the Mormons were driven out and forced to continue their search for a home . In the year 1839, the Mormons purchased a swampy plot of land in Illinois, and by the year 1844 had created the beautiful settlement of Nauvoo . However, Nauvoo was not meant to be the final settlement of the Mormons, for in 1844, the Prophet and founder of the Church, Joseph Smith, was shot while preaching in Missouri . Fearing more persecution, and following the new leadership of Brigham Young, the Mormons continued their journey west, and after the perilous task of crossing the Rocky Mountains, they finally settled down in Salt Lake City, Utah in the year 1847 . Even today, this remains as the center of the Mormon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Because the boy was bored, he decided to play a trick on the villagers. The boy cries, Wolf! Wolf! and the villagers come running to help the shepherd boy. When they get to the field and discover the boy was playing a trick on them they are angry. Later, the boy is bored again and plays the same trick, the villagers come running to help and again the boy laughs at them for falling for his trick. However, when an actual wolf comes and the boy yells for help, the villagers think he is playing a trick on them again and don t come to help him. Therefore, because of the events that take place the boy learns to be honest or when it counts no one will believe you. The literary concept displayed in The boy who cried wolf is irony. • 6. Freddo Frogs Experiment Essay Assumptions Throughout this investigation, several assumptions were made to make the process of calculations easier. Firstly, it was assumed that the distribution of the weight of the Freddo Frogs was normally distributed. In addition to this, it was assumed that each of the Freddo Frogs was produced through the same machine, this way the amount of random errors would be reduced in the production of the Freddo Frog. However, if any systematic errors were to occur, then it would go unnoticed as the Freddo Frogs would all have similar masses. Thus, affecting the results produced through this investigation. In addition to this, it was assumed that the Freddo Frogs were weighed correctly, however, there may have been some systematic errors that could have occurred, which would produce inaccurate and... • 7. A Problem of Punishment The tension was felt in the air. Ivan Markovitch, the Colonel, and the other paternal uncle were arguing and arguing over how they should punish Sasha. Sasha had made a promissory note that he could not pay off. This put him and his valuable family name in a very corrupt position. Sasha s uncle Ivan was very compassionate with Sasha; feeling sorry that he lost his parents at a young age. The colonel on the other hand was not so sympathetic towards Sasha. He believed that Sasha needed to be punished for his actions and should be sent to court where he would have to take responsibility for his decision. Ivan and the Colonel both stood their ground and refused to change their view on how Sasha should be punished. Finally, the Colonel convinced Ivan that Sasha should be sent to court. Ivan, how do you expect Sasha to ever learn from his mistakes if we keep protecting him from the consequences He needs to deal with his mistakes by himself Proclaimed the Colonel. Well, you may be right, but look at it from Sasha s perspective he lost both of his parents and had no guidance growing up. Ivan quickly responded to the Colonel. I understand Ivan, Sasha unfortunately grew up with no guidance, but that does not make it okay to baby him for the rest of his life. Sooner or later we will pass away and Sasha will be free to make whatever decision he chooses to make and will no longer have our protection. The Colonel rebutted once again. • 8. My Letter About My Dear Mi Hur My dear Mi hur, It is wonderful beyond words to hear from you after this hiatus, though I wish it had been under different circumstances. I doubt you will be surprised to hear how many emails I have received in the past week that were if less eloquent very like yours in substance: How could your country do this? How could you be so foolish? I suspect your own horrified questions, like theirs, are essentially rhetorical; that you do not expect replies. As a matter of fact, though, I do know what has overtaken my country. To explain it I am afraid I have to digress rather substantially. After you left for Seoul and I dropped out of graduate school, I comforted myself, as better men have before me, on the seedier corners of the Internet. In my green years I had amused myself by sparring with Usenet creationists and spamming Goatse links; now, I spent my hours of free time browsing 4chan. I can tell you exactly when I saw it, for I pasted it into a Word document, and have not modified it since. I have checked Date Last Modified: October 26, 2013. It was a string of greentext on /pol/, 4chan s politics discussion board; I have pasted it below, but at this point I might have typed the whole thing from memory. be 14 and horny be dating cute chick she won t put out unless you accept the eschatological doctrine of Chhoteling get down on your knees in from of her swear on the name of brahman that we are bound to destroy the world with laughter pray for the arrival ... • 9. Pros And Cons Of Surveillance In 1984 Surveillance, or a close watch kept over someone or something for a specific purpose, features prominently in George Orwell s dystopian novel 1984. The book follows Winston Smith, a middle aged man who lives in the futuristic society of Oceania, where the government of the Party, under the leadership of Big Brother, maintains strict control of the people and prevents free thought through propaganda, censorship, and surveillance. Winston tries to think freely while evading detection and succeeds for a time in having an affair with his co conspirator Julia, but the Party eventually captures and re educates both. Surveillance has also become a controversial issue in today s society, as Heather Kelly discusses in her article After Boston: The pros and cons of surveillance cameras . Kelly presents both sides of the debate concerning the role of surveillance in fighting crime, especially in light of the Boston Marathon bombings. Supporters of surveillance point to its ability to increase safety and security by deterring crime and assisting in criminal investigations. However, opponents worry that it intrudes too much on the privacy of citizens, violating what they consider people s right to privacy. Though in 1984 Orwell portrays surveillance as dystopian because it helps enforce the restriction of free thought by constantly watching for any abnormal expression, Heather Kelly shows in her article After Boston that surveillance in today s world is more utopian since it helps ... Each time a baseballscout scouted Billy Beane all they saw was a future big league star. Mets had the first pick of the 1980, Major League Baseballdraft and they had the choice down two players. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We can see that in this world people are conditioned to like drugs and things like that so it s no wonder they become addicts to the thing. In the real world drugs are seen as bad as robbing a bank, but in the book taking drugs is as normal as showering, we can see this comparison when Linda says What I had to suffer and not a gramme of soma to be had. Only a drink of mescal every now and then, when PopГ© used to bring it. PopГ© is a boy I used to know. Bill Fletcher Jr. writes myth 8: the union uses our money for political action and I have no say in the matter, in his novel They re Bankrupting Us And 20 Other Myths about Unions. In this myth, Bill Fletcher Jr. addresses unions and how they take political action. Labor unions often take political action in a controversial way, while not always getting full advantage of their work. When members are engaged in political action, their views are respected. From the beginning, union involvement in political and legislative matters has been a component of unions and their external advocacy. When labor unions first began forming, political parties that represented the interests of the workforce began forming as well. However, due to the bipartisan power in the United States, it is hard for third parties to succeed electorally, which ultimately ended the idea of a labor party. This is why the American Federation of Labor believed that labor should not form its own parties, but should lobby the current two party system. With the lack of a labor party, labor unions often back the Democratic Party, even though Democrats may not always act in favor of the labor force. Some may see lobbying the two parties as counter productive, since the influence of wealth and the corporate world takes some sort of precedence to the labor unions. Although many ... It is high time we rid ourselves of the notion that we can somehow free ourselves from illusion (or from ideology) by recognizing and theorizing our own entrapment within it. All Quiet On The Western Front, The Wars, and A Farewell To Arms Any and all events in one s life may change a person profoundly, but the effect may not always be as expected. In charge of distributing and overseeing the creation of a majority of the propagandist posters was Dr. Paul Joseph Goebbels. Born in Rheydt, Germany he created and ran the Third Reich Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda. There, his goal was to play upon the hopes, fears, and frustrations of the German people. Then, he wished to harness those same emotions to spark a German movement and war. There was fire in his blood, and it would end up clearly manifesting in his work on propaganda posters. Initially Nazi propagandists used niche marketing to connect their posters to all aspects of German life. Under niche marketing, they concentrated their efforts on smaller, yet influential groups of people. Some examples included woman working in homes, farmers, factory workers, and war veterans. The films were prepared by in situ chemical reduction techniques, then irradiated with different gamma doses (25, 50, 75, 100, 125 KGy). The content of the Ag in the PVA film were determined by using atomic absorption spectroscopy (AA), and were found to be 0.4 wt %. The films have been characterized through dielectric spectroscopy and I V measurements. As a result, the dielectric constant (Оµ) value decreases as the gamma irradiation doses increase. While current advances have led to increasingly positive prognoses for those diagnosed with differing forms of cancer, the significant death rate among those same patients may deter cancer patients from seeking traditional therapies and treatments. What people often times do not realize is that most of these alternative forms of treatment that have not been proven to be effective may be more detrimental to patients health than the actual cancer itself. In order to fully understand the effectiveness of the treatments that a patient is going to receive, it is important to look not only the physiological effects of the treatments themselves, but also the effects of the disease. Up until the 1970s the five year survival rates for affected patients was less than 15 percent. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Employee Turnover At My Current Company Employee Turnover James Thurkettle Management 317 12/3/14 One of the biggest problems at my current company is that we have a high number of employee turnovers. Some may ask what employee turnover is? How would you define it? Employee turnover is the ratio of the number of workers that had to be replaced in a given time period to the average number of workers. In human resources, turnover or staff turnover is the rate at which an employer loses and gains employees. By using methods that have proven successful for several different companies like improved screening and interview processes and recording the cost from before and after implementation of a plan we can accurately gauge conditions and adapt the plan as necessary to dramatically reduce the effects and causes of employee turnover. Turnover is measured for individual companies and for their industry as a whole. If an employer is said to have a high turnover relative to its competitors, it means that employees of that company have a shorter average time with the company than those of other companies in the same industry. This can be a scary trend as high turnover may be harmful to a company s productivity. This is especially harmful if skilled workers are often leaving and the worker population contains a high percentage of rookie or novice workers. Research and observations show that an experienced employee often has an insight to the details of the processes that make up each individual job and that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At a young age some villagers believed Rasputin had the ability to employ supernatural powers such as having visions and curative powers. It is alleged Rasputin rose up from his bed and pointed at the horse thief. The accused peasant denied stealing the horse and it is reported Rasputin was beaten. However, that very same evening two other peasants followed the accused and observed him leading the stolen horse from his shed and into the forest (Aprelenko, 2011). Rasputin... In fact in the 1920 s a group of Russian s reportedly had possession of Rasputin s penis, which they believed was severed from his body after death, and worshipped it believing it would give them fertility. Another conspiracy reports, in 1977 a Michael Augustine purchased Dr. Ripple s effects who supposedly had inherited Rasputin s severed penis when he worked with Marie Rasputin on Gregory s hagiography. However, tests later showed the member to be a dissected sea cucumber. Even as late as 2004, the infamous Rasputin fascination continues. A Russian Doctor, Igor Knyazkin head physician of the prostate Centre of Russia s Academy of Sciences, reportedly opened the first Museum of Erotica displaying thousands of items supposedly including the severed penis of Gregory Rasputin. Upon review of the articles and research I found on Rasputin, it is apparent finding a true and accurate account of his life and death may not be possible. Even the accounts from the eyewitnesses or co conspirators do not support one another. However, what can be garnered from all accounts is Rasputin enthralled a nation with his charisma and machinations while he was alive. Additionally, his death has only engorged his legacy even further inspiring the imaginations of humanity across the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
