2. What Is An Example Of Symbolic Interactionism
Symbolic interactionism in short is a perspective that focuses on labels that we
create and follow in our daily lives. It also explains how said labels shape and
affect our behavior as human beings and as a society. This is a micro level analysis
theory due to it s detail oriented nature and focus on personal encounters people
have with each other. Functionalism is a perspective that describes society as a
machine that operates relying on individual components to do their job effectively.
This also means that if one component fails to fulfill it s role, this could lead to
chaos or dysfunction in society. This perspective can be recognized as a macro level
theory since at a distance it looks at how society moves in harmony with the help
3. Child Labour In The Industrial Revolution
The industrial revolution is known to be one of the hardest times known in the
American history as it led to poverty, pollution and prejudice. Along with these
corruptions, came one of the worst darkest sides of the industrial revolution which is
known as child labour. Although children have been servants and apprentices
throughout most of the human history, child labourreached its extreme point during
this time. Child labour is the employment of children under the age of physical
maturity, which is 18 years old. As many believe that child labour does not affect
them, they do not realize the Persian rugs they own are all made by the suffering
children, all gathered in a small dark room. They do not realize the high end Nike
shoes they wear are all made my children, who slave themselves day and night with
little pay. Children are giving up their childhood, education and families just to earn
a few cents a day as some work from 6 in the morning till 7 at night for less that 20
cents a day. As poverty is the main cause of child labour, many families send their
kids, as young as the age of 5 to work to earn money. However, working as a child
also has its cons, as it can disturb the child physically, mentally and even
emotionally. That being the reason, children all the world should not be derived
from their childhood, should be able to attend school, live their life as children,
enjoy, play and have fun. Poverty is considered the main reason children work hard,
4. Sense Of Belonging Essay
Sense of belonging and interpersonal connectivity is widely researched topics in
psychology, but researches have disagreed on the significance of sense of
belonging (Ma, 2003). Likewise, sense of belonging has been defined in various
ways. According to Vallerand, sense of belonging has to do with the feeling of
connectivity with others in the same environment, often involves the identification
of one s self with a particular group. When a sense of belonging is well established
among students, they feel accepted, loved and respected, which influence their self
image and beliefs (Booker, 2004; Goodenow, 1993). Baumeister and Leary (1995)
acknowledged that sense of belonging has two features: contact and interactions on a
regular basis and the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The feeling of belonging might have a direct impact on students motivation and
academic achievement (Goodenow, 1993a). For example, when a sense of belonging
is achievable within the student s social interactions, there is a belief and
determination which drives them to seek to prove their worth both outside and within
the academic setting (Goodenow, 1993a). Several studies revealed that there is a
significant relationship between sense of belonging and students academic
performance (Booker, 2006; Akar vural et al., 2013). Students academic effort and
school success are affected not only by individual differences in skill or ability but
are also influenced by social relationships at school. Goodenow investigated the
relationship between the sense of belonging among students and their expectations,
harbored values, motivation level, and achievement in several studies. The researcher
also examined the relationship between sense of school membership, expectancy of
success, value, and effort . Findings in both studies showed that there was a strong
correlation between sense of accession, success expectation and overall input in
efforts
5. Unique Characteristics Of The Climograph On Death Valley
There are a lot of unique characteristics in the 5 climographs above. The climograph
on Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania shows that the hottest time in Pittsburgh is around June
(around 27 degrees Celsius), and the coldest time is around January (around 3 degrees
Celsius). In addition, it shows that there are fairly large amounts of precipitation
throughout the year. The climograph on Death Valley, California shows that it is
fairly hot all throughout the year with very low precipitation. The coldest it gets in
Death Valley is around January (around 20 degrees Celsius), and the highest amount
of precipitation is during February (around 13 millimeter). Similarly to Pittsburgh, in
Hartford, Connecticut there are large amounts of precipitation and around
6. The Pros And Cons Of Genetically Modified Foods
As the spread of commercialized genetically modified foods (GMF) products rise,
the number of people exposed to genetically modified foods incline globally. The
term genetically modified foods can be used interchangeably with transgenic foods,
genetically engineered crops (GE) and Recombinant DNA technology and therefore
defined as the enhancement of foods in which a gene of interest from one organism
is extracted and inserted into the target organisms. (1) The genes of interest may be
cells from bacteria, insects, animals, plants or viruses. Although the controversial
idea seems fairly new genetically engineered crops were introduced as early as the
90s without the knowledge of most consumers. The United States leads as the top

Body Evidence 1: In terms of its conservational effects, toxicity is a massive matter
regarding GM crops. More than 80% of all genetically modified crops grown
worldwide have been engineered for herbicide tolerance. As a result, the use of
toxic herbicides, such as Roundup, has increased fifteenfold since GMOs were
first introduced. (3) GM crops create toxins in the soil wherever they are planted.
When toxic residues are released into the soil through the GM crop, toxins can
prevent the growth of good bacteria that are essential for plant growth.
Consequently, there are fewer soil bacteria, which are integral to the healthy soil
for plants to grow without the use of chemical fertilizers. Nutrients are not returned
to the soil, thus leaving the soil dry and void of all vital nutrients for growth. When
GM crops are planted, generally in a monocrop fashion, traditional seeds are no
longer used. Framers then become accustomed to the GMO seeds creating a cycle
of dependence on GMO seeds and chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides to
grow a single crop. In addition to soil issues, the irrigation used to grow GM foods
naturally carries all of these problems into water sources and into the air. (3) This
exposes different bacteria, insects, and animals to the same problems. Thus, creating
pesticide resistant superbugs; the toxins originally used to
7. Martin Luther King Motivation
I decided to choose Martin Luther King Jr. as my paper topic for several reasons.
First off, I would like to reiterate how important African American history is and that
more knowledge of the actions, culture, laws, and life of African Americans during
this time period should be taught a lot more throughout schools everywhere in my
opinion. Not many people know the specific reasons why Martin Luther King Jr. had
a holiday dedicated after his name for example, the actions, protests, and hardships he
went through to get his voice heard. Martin Luther King Jr. was a well known
African American activist and minister who was an essential figure in the American
civil rights movement from the mid 1950s until his assassination in 1968 on April 4th
in Tennessee. King was born in Atlanta on January 15, 1929. King felt that equality
and human rights for African Americans should be set in place, including the poor as
well as the uneducated and all victims of unequal treatment through peaceful protest
and nonviolent boycotts. He was the main speaker and activist behind events such as
the Montgomery Bus Boycott and the 1963 March on Washington, which helped
bring light to legislation in the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act. King was
seen as a gifted student, he went segregated public school s due to segregation laws.
I found it very surprising that at the age of 15 he was admitted to Morehouse College,
where both his father and maternal grandfather went, King studied medicine

Air Pollution in Mexico City
Outline
Title: Air Pollution in Mexico City
I. Introduction General information about the problem: As the vehicle population
reached more than 700 million, numerous cities experiencing rapid industrialization
started to suffer from air pollution. Some of them reduced the air pollution level;
however there are still some that are considered to be the most polluted cities in the
world. Introduction of the problem: One of them is Mexico City. According to

All of these have already been implemented and we know that they will work for the
environment. Therefore, the government should enforce these solutions and stop the
air pollution in Mexico City.
Air pollution in Mexico City As the vehicle population reached more than 700
million worldwide, numerous cities experiencing rapid industrialization started to
suffer from air pollution (Walsh, 1999). The level of air pollution in any city is a
global concern. The reason is that air can travel freely from place to place;
consequently, the polluted air from one city can travel to another. The polluted air
has numerous negative consequences for human health and also severely
damages the ecosystem. Some of the cities reduced the air pollution level;
however there are still some that are considered to be the most polluted cities in
the world. One of them is Mexico City. According to Forbes, the Mexican capital is
one of the five dirtiest cities of the world (Luck, 2008). The government and people
have take measures in order to reduce the air pollution in Mexico City before it is
too late. The government should practice legal regulations and favor the usage of
hydrogen fuel instead of gasoline in order to reduce the air pollution level in Mexico
City. Mexico City is one of the world s largest metropolitan areas, containing more
than 20 million inhabitants, 3.5 million vehicles, and 35,000
9. The Impact Of Diversity On The Workplace
3.2. Positive impacts
The diversity has always been a concern for businesses and governments because the
minority can feel sometimes left out and excluded for the employment sector.
Therefore it has always been a priority for any government. They want to prove that
they have been elected and are representing the entire population not just a group of
people. Also businesses want to send a good image to their customers that they care
about everyone even the minority.
First of all, Kirton and Greene (2005) said that every company has the legal
obligation to promote diversity in the organisation in order to avoid social injustice
within the workplace and reduce disadvantages experienced by some minorities or
social group. It is important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An organisation that promotes diversity shows their employees that they don t have
to worry about their ethnicity or cultural background in order for them to progress in
that company. Only relevant things like competency and the knowledge of the work
matter the most. (Bryan, 1999)
According to Triandis (1994), managing a diverse workforce means that the
company had to change their old ways of doing things and adjust to a new way
because that organisation needed to do more research and analysis in order to find
the right way or procedure that works best for everyone.
Leach, George and LaBelle (1995) have used to word working with diversity instead
of using the usual word managing . According to them, the word working sounds
much better because it is a way of showing respect to the diverse workforce instead
of using the term managing which sounds a bit pejorative. They believed so because
when someone says managing, it is like they are describing a sub group within that
organisation. Therefore, the company or organisation that promotes diversity need to
be very patient in order to observe and learn how to promote diversity in their
workplace.
After many examinations, Finney (1989) believed that companies did use diversity
in their workplace environment not only because they law required them to do so
but also because they did what was right for them in term of success, growth and also
to satisfy the demand of their

11. Identifying Human Hair and Animal Fair by Laser
Diffraction
1. Introduction:
1.1 Overview
The ability to identify an animal by examining its fur is a useful one for
taxonomists and biologists. The hair of prey is often not digested by a predator,
and so can be found in the predators scat and measured to ascertain its diet (Anwar
et al., 2011). An electron microscope can be used to obtain a lot of data from hair,
including its width and the shape and texture of its surface, however electron
microscopes are expensive and time consuming to operate (Sessions et al., 2009).
Lasers are much cheaper and can be used to easily measure the width of narrow
objects by measuring the interference pattern created when laser light is diffracted
around the object. As a result, laser diffraction may be a more preferable method for
identifying hairs based on their width. This experiment hopes to show that laser
diffraction is an accurate enough method for obtaining the width of narrow objects,
such as animal and human hairs, to allow comparison between them.
1.2 Wave interactions
1.2.1 Diffraction:
Diffraction is a physical phenomenon that occurs when waves encounter an obstacle
or gap between obstacles. Depending on the wavelength of the wave and the size of
the obstacle or gap waves bend and spread out. Waves tend to diffract more around
objects or gaps of a similar size to their wavelength. How a wave will diffract when
it meets an object can be modelled using Huygen s construction. Huygen s
construction is based on Huygen s principle of light
12. The Ethics Of The Florida Bar
As attorneys, the standard is set so that all lawyers can practice with a sound mind.
As attorneys, one must establish a decorum that helps the process of the courtroom
and in the outside world. The rules of ethics promote a vow to protect the integrity
of the law and the gatekeepers behind it. One as an attorney must understand that
becoming an attorney is never about winning a case or losing a case. The purpose
based on this oath is to become respectful actors on the stage of the courtroom. As
an attorney, it creates a benchmark that will follow the rules of their respective
states. The oath of admission of the Florida Bar is something that should be sacred to
every single lawyer that steps foot in every courtroom, deposition, and hearing that a
lawyer attends. As a child, I understood the commitment it takes to work in a
professional environment. The ABA rules, as a lawyer is a firm commitment as a
professional. The rules of ethics are a professional commitment that not only supports
civility in judicial advocacy but civility in surrounding communities. Just as the child
I once believed in a certain professional commitment, lawyers must instill those same
values and positive in the next generation. When an attorney takes a solemn oath
lawyers become role models. Lawyers become examples to communities in the state
and become leaders to the people who sometimes cannot defend themselves. Ethics
rules give attorneys an opportunity to become bridge builders to the youth. It
13. Guru Hargobind And Mirhavan s Sikh Gurus
Guru Hargobind and Mirhavan had different visions of Sikhism in the early
seventeenth century, they had alternative characteristics and traits that made them
differ as Sikh Gurus from each other (54). They were both rival Sikh gurus who
were cousins as well. Guru Hargobind and Mirhavan had distinctive views of
lifestyle and appearance on being a Sikhguru. Moreover, the differences in the Sikh
community was formed through traits and the personalities of the militancy being
taught. The lay followers were the targets of these two separate entities and the
beginnings to large public debates were to attempt, in order to understand Sikhism.
Continuing, the lifestyle choices for the Sikh community was focused on being
spiritual and how it would affect the community. Continuing, both Guru Hargobind
and Miharavan had different visions to a dispute and solve problems that would take
place. For example, on rival arguments in a Sikh community affected throughout
cultures of violence (54). The major issue on their claims is the way it is represented
throughout previous Sikh gurus. This also had a spiritual authority over the Sikh
community. Guru Hargobind was more of the militant aspect and viewed different
problematic situations to be solved throughout violence. Whereas, Miharvan was
more calm and collected, who devoted his time and efforts of being a civil Guru.

14. Neoliberalism In Chile
The republic of Chile is home to a very diverse geographical setting, unlike
anywhere else on the planet. 2,650 miles of Pacific coastline makes up the western
border of Chile, while the eastern border is with Argentina, one third of it being
divided by the Andes Mountains and the remaining being direct. To the north, Chile
borders Peru and Bolivia, although the declared borders of these countries are
separated from Chile by the Atacama Desert. Aside from the mainland of Chile,
Chile also claims sovereignty over Easter Island and, due to its relative close distance
from Antarctica, it also claims sovereignty over approximately 483,000 square miles
of the Antarctic landmass. The current population of Chile is 17.8 million people,

This is a result from the economy being built upon neoliberalism ideology and a free
market economy, while being infused with socialist and capitalist principles. Aspects
of neoliberalism include a reliance on local and global free markets, with the state
maintaining a minimal role of the political economy. In fact, based on the 2014 Index
of Economic Freedom, Chile has the 7th freest market in the entire world, ranking
ahead of even the United States. These aspects are evident in the Chilean government
s approach to the economy, as they favor foreign investment and international trade.
One way in which the Chilean government has attempted to increase the amount of
foreign investment is through their privatization of Chilean ports, waste water
treatment facilities and private investment in the construction and operation of
domestic infrastructure. The Chilean government chooses to have a limited role in
the regulation of the economy, with the only heavily regulated aspects consisting of
utilities, the banking system, security markets and pension funds. These free market
principles of Chile can be seen as very capitalistic, this is due to the fact that much
of the economic suffering during Allende s rule was because of his socialist policies.
A large part of Chile s economic success is a result of their willingness to participate
in capitalistic means. They are a very favorable foreign investment, considering how
supportive the government is of foreign investment, which happens to be the basis
that the economy thrives on. Foreign countries feel confident in their investments in
Chile due to the stability and the easy going nature of the government. Countries such
as the United States, Canada, Mexico, along with the rest of South America, are
some of the biggest exporters of Chilean

Analysis
Nothing Can break the bond a family has. Nothing . There may be hard times
within a family ,but in the end, family is always their. In the poem, Our Son
Swears He Has 102 Gallons of Water in His Body by Naomi Shihab Nye, portrays a
family that argues over something as miniscule as how much water is your body, but
can easily reminisce on good moments from the past. Within this familytheir is a
bond that can not be broken, no matter what happens. The bond that they have goes
from being hostile to very loving. An argument can be caused from many things,
things that seem little to one person, but seem major to another. Arguments are
precipitated by the simplest things, and can cause families to be blinded from the
truth. Nye writes, [W]restle his parents/ who defy what he insists. (Nye line 2 3).
The parents double what their son tells them, and become agitated by the idea. By
just saying something without any evidence to corroborate the claim. Without any

try to explain what is going on, people tend to not understand. In the poem, the son

know that what was claimed to be false is true, others still need proof. After things

parents finally see that they were wrong, and their son was right. Proof can change

16. Essay On I Love Lucy
Desilu s iconic show I Love Lucy did not only break the industry norm for
television broadcasting but pushed the envelope for social issues during its time but
also open the door for other shows that seemed risky. America was in the post war
era and looked towards the television to stay informed and connected. Televisionsets
were quickly entering homes which became what the radio was in 1920 s. It
became a prominent product during the decade of the 50 s, for instance, 3 million
TV owners and by the end, there were 55 million. The concept for the situational
comedy was nothing out of the ordinary, following a typical housewife, through
comedic hijinks, in her everyday life. Lucille s portrayal of this ditzy schemer did
not exactly fit the view of a traditional American 1950 s housewife, revealing the
show s willingness to push social issues. Lucille Ball insisted that her real life
husband Desi Arnaz play her husband in the show. Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz
were the first on screen interracial couple. One of the biggest displays of I Love
Lucy pushing the envelope was her real life pregnancy on the show, which at the time

18. Michael Porter s The Competitive Advantage Of The Inner
City
The essay The Competitive Advantage of the Inner City by Michael Porter,
addresses the crisis of inner cities, in particular, the economic distress and how to
fix it. Porter discusses the advantages and disadvantages of the inner city, and how
previous efforts to improve the conditions of the city have failed. Many past efforts
were guided by the desire to meet the needs of individuals but not the cityas a whole,
even programs that were aimed at economic development were ineffective because
they treated the inner city as an isolated island (317), separated from surrounding
economy which favored local small businessthat did not bring in outside business.
Michael Porter is a renowned economist and professor of Business Administration at
the Harvard Business School, author of 18 books and more than 125 articles with
topics that range from industry competition to economic development. Porter was
born in Michigan and went on to study aerospace and mechanical engineering in
Princeton from where he graduated first in his class and with high honors from both
the prestigious societies Phi Beta Kappa and Tau Beta Pi, which he was also elected
into. He is known as the c and is recognized worldwide for his take on competition
and company strategy, many say that his work has redefined the thought process
related to competition and economic development. Some of his most influential
books include Competitive Strategy: Techniques for Analyzing Industries and
Competitors, Competitive Advantage: Creating and Sustaining Superior Performance
and Redefining Health Care: Creating Value Based Competition On Results.
In the essay, The Competitive Advantage of the Inner City, Porter explained the
reason that numerous past efforts failed to improve the economic conditions of the
inner city were mainly due to the increasing social investment in order to see
growth in economic activity. However, in order to create real change, we have to
start with the notion that inner city businesses should not only be profitable but also
capable of exporting goods and services (317). Many would think that a business in
the inner city would not thrive because business prosperity depends on location,
however, it also varies on the way a
19. Why Is Chillingworth Not Forgiven
Throughout the Scarlet Letter, Hawthorne debates whether under Puritan beliefs if
someone is saved and forgiven for their sins or not forgiven. Members of society
argue and decide the fate of sinners depending on the severity of the sin and their
general feelings and thoughts of a sinner, yet, hypocritically, claim their decision as
God s will. Roger Chillingworth, best representing Satan , is not forgiven for his
sins, despite willing all his wealth and belongings to Pearl, representing Conscience.
Chillingworth is not forgiven because he had no debt to repay to Pearl, representing
Conscience . Pearl and Dimmesdale had little interaction and relation to each other.
Only through Dimmesdale, Pearl s father, and Hester, Chillingworth s
20. Marginal Utility Vs. Utility Theory
Fifty years after Jeremy Bentham s initial defention of utility, the German economist
Hermann Heinrich Gossen introduced the term marginal utility and the law of
diminishing marginal utility. The term marginal utility is defined as the pleasure or
pain from an additional unit or dose of a good. The introduction of marginal utilityto
economic thought and vocabulary was revolutionary, reducing the need to measure
total pleasure or pain because Even if marginal utilities were measured on a cardinal
scale, they would tell us nothing about how much total utility there was (even if it
was maximized) because they are still only measured up to an additive constant. An
additional benefit of marginal utilitywas the introduction of the principle of marginal
utility theory, which Gossen explained as, Man maximizes his total life pleasure if he
distributes his entire money income ... among the various enjoyments ... so that the
last atom of money spent on each single pleasure yields the same amount of pleasure.
Marginal utility was considered easier to measure than utility as a whole, although
still very difficult to define. At the same time, Gossen was also introducing the law of
diminishing marginal utility, which was one of the most important steps in
developing the economic theory around utility. At the time that Gossen introduced the
law of diminishing marginal returns, there an equivalent law, called Turgot s law,
had already been developed for the producer s side of

closer to eight feet long and made of wood, fur, and horse hair. They had one pole

What is the agency you selected, and what is your rationale for choosing this

Community Options, Inc., and Austin Area Mental HealthConsumers, Inc.
Community options inc is an amazing company. The fact that they go above and

The Center for Health Care Services (CHCS) operates a wide range of psychosocial
and medical programs in Bexar County whose target populations include individuals
with behavioral health disorders and intellectual disabilities. (The center for health
care services, http://chcsbc.org/board of trustees/) The Center for health care
services also offers care for the homeless population and those who are suffering
and trying to recover from substance abuse. After searching the internet and
comparing multiple agencies, I always found myself coming back to CHCS. I love
that this agency offers all forms of help for people with special needs and those who
are suffering from mental Illness. I have a brother who is special and suffers from
both behavioral and intellectual disabilities. I feel like working for this agency, I
would learn to understand my brother more, and be able to support him in ways I

military spouse, I was always interested in the health and wellness of our soldiers
who suffer from PTSD, and mental illness. One of the most fulfilling aspects of
working in the mental health field is being able to provide support to others during
the most challenging moments in their life. To me, it became apparent after
researching that this agency offers everything I want
25. Essay about The Life and Literary Works of Shirley Jackson
Shirley Jackson was born on December 14, 1919 to Leslie and Geraldine Jackson.
Her surroundings were comfortable and friendly. Two years after Shirley was born,
her family with her newborn brother moved from San Francisco to Burlingame,
California, about thirty miles away. According to her mother, Shirley began to
compose verse almost as soon as she could write it (Friedman, 18). As a child, Shirley
was interested in sports and literature. In 1930, a year before she attended
Burlingame High School, Shirley began writing poetry and short stories. Jackson
enrolled in the liberal arts program at the University of Rochester in 1934. But after
periods of unhappinessand questioning the loyalty of her friends, she withdrew from

In 1940, after their graduation Hyman and Jackson, who had a relationship, were
married. While living in Vermont, Jackson continued to write. One of her earliest
times in Vermont later became material for her first book about the family, Life
Among the Savages. Between 1945 and 1947, Jackson was occupied with her first
novel, The Road Through the Wall. But it was in 1948 that her greatest success was
achieved. The publication of the short story, The Lottery , brought fame, as well as
letters from readers all over the country. But more often there were abusive letters
from people who did not understand her motives or what she was trying to do. A
year later a book entitled, The Lottery , was published containing an assortment of
short stories including The Lottery. The critics by that time, had decided that Shirely
Jackson was a writer of much talent and uniqueness. Even though Jackson was
raising four children while her husband went to work, she still found time to write.
Sometimes when a story idea would come to her, she would bolt off to her
typewriter. Instead of fighting writing, as other writers do; she found the opposite;
that writing was relaxing.
In 1949, the Hymans moved to Westport, Connecticut. As usual she worked hard. Six

Louis Jordan was born into music. The son of a music teacher and bandleader,
Jordan was taught by his father in both the clarinet and saxophone. After
performing locally with his father s group, Rabbit Foot Minstrels, as a teenager,
he attended the Arkansas Baptist College, majoring in music. After completing his
education, he and his family moved to Philadelphia, with Jordan soon after
moving to New York on his own. While in New York Jordan was invited to play in
the legendary bandleader and drummer Chick Webb s big band, where he played
both alto and soprano saxophones. After attempting to convince other members of
Webb s group to leave and form a new group in 1938, Jordan was fired. He then went

Jordan was himself a gifted saxophone player, he was quoted as saying he played
for the people . He was relatively unimpressed by the be bop movement that had
sprung from swing music and who prided themselves as being true artists. He desired
only to play music with his saxophone that he felt the people enjoyed. Seeking to
continue his appeal to the people, Jordan enlisted the sounds of the revolutionary
electric guitar. The sounds of his guitar helped to progress the instrument from
merely an accompanying sound, to a more signature role in an ensemble. The appeal
of the instrument was immense and soon after its integration into pop music, the
mighty saxophone began to diminish in popularity and by the 1960 s had been
replaced in entirety by the electric guitar. Jordan can take partial credit for the
popularization of the instrument, but he ultimately must take credit for bringing his
signature instrument to its end. After the breakup of the Tympany Five and the end
of his tenure with Decca records, Jordan never again experienced the sort of success
he experienced during the 1940 s. For the remainder of his life, Jordan attempted to
reignite his popularity through brief stints with various other record labels, but they
were met with little to no success. Later attempts to strike back into the well of
success included the rerecording
27. Rna G Quadruplexes And Its Effects On The Society
ABSTRACT: An independently folding RNA G quadruplex (GQ) forming domain
interacts with the 40S ribosomal subunit and determines their binding affinity and
function of an internal ribosomal entry site (IRES). The interaction begins to shed
light to theprovide possible mechanistic role of RNA GQ structures in cap

Human vascular endothelial growth factor (hVEGF) is a key physiological and
pathological angiogenic growth factor. An increase in VEGF levels correlates with
normal physiological conditions, such as embryonic development, wound repair,

presence of a tunable GQ structure in the IRES A was observed to be essential for
cap independent translation initiation.7 The IRES mediated translation initiation
although initially observed in viral mRNAs has also been identified in many cellular

Translation initiation by IRESs involves a cap independent mechanism wherein the
40S ribosomal subunit and/or other IRES trans acting factors (ITAFs) are recruited
directly onto the mRNA and rendering the requirement of the 5′ cap and some
initiation factors unessential. Our investigations into the secondary

The Silent Killer: An Analysis of Imagination Evolving into a Distraction in Tim O
Brien s The Things They Carried
In Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried , O Brien created several allusions that
each character endured during the Vietnam War. Throughout the story were vast
representations of the things the soldiers carried both mentally and physically. The
things they carried symbolized their individual roles internally and externally. In
addition to the symbolism, imagination was a focal theme that stood out amongst the
characters. This particular theme played a role as the silent killer amongst Lt. Cross
and the platoon both individually and collectively as a group. The theme of
imagination created an in depth look of how the war was perceived through each
character which helped emphasize their thoughts from an emotional standpoint of
being young men out at war.
Imagination hindered the platoon which clouded their judgment and decision
making. Instead of remaining focused their wandering mind lacked what was
necessary, assessing the task at hand. In some respects, though not many, the waiting
was worse than the tunnel itself. Imagination was a killer. (O Brien 619) In relation to
the quote imagination was a killer , this metaphor represents how the soldiers made
situations like being in the tunnel mentally challenging for them. Paranoia quickly
consumed their thoughts and emotions before partaking in the actual mission. The

to frame issues of illiteracy and educational privation in terms of policy: the language
of abandonment and desertion negated, but its real world manifestations not actually
remedied, by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. Millennials, specifically those
who were educated in a metropolis or its surrounding suburbs, might be especially
sensitive to this language, although their sensitivity is buffered by the knowledge of

The human impact on natural environment is one of the most pressing issues of
contemporary times and a subject of discussion. The increasing human population
and the rising level of technology both have become significant factors in raising the
environmental problems. There are several environmental problems around the world
today which occurred due to both natural and humancauses. Of all the global
environmental problems, desertificationis, perhaps, the most threatening problem.
Desertification is the expansion of desert lands into previously non desert areas.
Today in many countries lands are becoming into deserts, and due to the conditions in
the world soon we will not be able to take it back. There are two main causes of
desertification, one is human activities and the other is climatic variations. The first
and the most important cause of desertification is human activities. Human causes
includes Overgrazing, Over cultivation, Mismanagement of irrigation, Deforestation,
Urban and industrial activities, mining and exploitation of resources etc. All human
causes are related to over population. Due to overpopulationthere is great pressure on
land and resources. According to Neo Malthusian, demographic pressure leads to
overuse and misuse of resources (Malthus, 1798). Earlier desertification was only a
natural formation but day by day humans are becoming responsible for it because of
land mismanagements. One theory argues that resources under common

32. Persuasive Essay Holidays
Thanksgiving is the holiday for family gatherings. Air travel analysts have coined it
the most traveled holiday of the year. People may head to the mountains or the
beaches at christmas but gathering at grandma s for that coveted feast of thanks is
high on the family priority list. But not all is as blissful as the famous Norman
Rockwell portrayed. Familycan equal stress, lots of stress. All that traveling makes
for weary, cranky guests. Then there is the overcrowded accommodations, unequal
division of chores and the dreadful family gossip. So many aspects of this holidaycan
leave one overwhelmed and contemplating the true meaning of giving thanks.
Packing for the holidays away from home can be a chore within itself. Many things
need to be taken into consideration. One needs to be informed of the weather
conditions to assure proper attire. Many times there are also children and others in
the family that need assistance with this. Also you need to consider if you will be
spending a lot of time outdoors. If your family plans a black friday shopping trip
you could find yourself in long lines out in the cold morning air. Perhaps Grandma
will be sending you out to fetch the christmas tree or assist in the delightful chore of
outdoor holiday house decorating. In any case, obviously a great deal of thought
needs to go into the packing process.
Next comes the dreaded chore of carrying the luggage and family to ever pleasant
airport. The day is filled with all the wonderful

However, the costs of war were very damaging on the economy. In simple terms, the
Anzac legend is the commemoration of the Anzac spirit, born and developed
throughout the eight months on the battlefield of Gallipoli. The horrible situations,
made the Anzacs strong and resilient, they had to rely upon mateship and each other
to get through. Their larrikinism also helped to keep many in as good a mood as
possible. Australia was very proud of their soldiers and aspired to be like them, this
meant that soon the whole country adopted the qualities of the Anzac spirit and the
building of a nation began. This nation was not the newly federated country that still
was much divided into the different qualities, Gallipoli fixed that two. Because man
from all different backgrounds and states fought together they were properly united

defining what it means to be Australian, however how did Gallipoli an WW1 impact

bonds with Britain deteriorated, due to poor British leaderships, and the superiority

new industries with more jobs were developed, new political groups and trade
unions were created, a strong military tradition was established, chemical and
electrical industries were formed and women gained a higher role in society this

A big part that people do not consider when they come to New York is about its
early history, its disasters, and its historical events. In New York the first people
living there were the native americans. There were two tribes the Iroquois and the
Oneida. First, the Iroquois were a group of tribes the Mohawk, Oneida, Cayuga, and
the Seneca. Later, the Tuscarora joined the group of the 5. They had different names
depending on what kind of people they were. The French called them the Iroquois, the
name they have today. These group of people originally named their group the
Haudenosaunee, meaning the people of the longhouse. The British called them the 5
nations because at the time of when the British saw them their first time the 6th tribe

The Taxi Industry in New South Wales has been one that has involved very little
competition within its market, allowing prices for its services to be quite high. Now,
however with the advancing technology, the rise of App based taxi or Ride Sharing
services such as Uber threaten to provide substitutes to customers increasing
competition in the Taxi Industry. The NSW Taxi Industry is somewhat run by the
NSW Government (Abelson). There are three major companies, that as (Abelson)

structure is formed, as there is some competition between these major companies
within the Taxi Service industry. However due to allegiances (Abelson) that these

As a result the major companies lose some of the market power that they held,
meaning that they will have greater price elasticity and can no longer charge prices
at the heights that they could if there wasn t any competition, as customers will be
offered a cheaper substitute. This then will lead to a change in the market
structure as pressure will be placed on the allegiances formed between the major
companies in order to compete with the new ride sharing services. These ride
sharing services also do not incorporate any fees for entry such as the license fees
associated with the traditional taxi service industry, which then, due to
competition, could result in a lowering of these fees, causing less profits for the
large companies in the taxi service industry. This will also lead to lower prices
charged once again. It could also cause ride sharing companies to become more
appealing for the Taxi Service drivers and they could poach them from these larger
companies. So as a result of this now competitive taxi market, there is a lower
profit for the taxi service industry infuriating them (Ben Grubb 2014) and leading
them to strongly oppose the addition of these app based ride sharing services.
There has been some evidence of the benefits of allowing these ride sharing services
to provide competition in the taxi service market. An example of this is in New York
where according to (Tim Worstall 2014), drivers for ride sharing services such as Uber

37. The Objective Of Knowledge Management Essay
Introduction
In this global and increasingly knowledge based society, the principal asset for
organizations in both the public and private sectors is knowledge. To survive in the
face of such global competitions, organizations increasingly depend on their ability to
transform information into knowledge as the basis of competitiveness, decision
making and the production of new products and services. There for Knowledge
Management (KM) can act as the process of capturing, developing, sharing, and
effectively using organizational knowledge (Davenport, 1994). The ultimate goal of
KM is to increase the effectiveness and the sustainability of growth of an
organization. Although KM was originally develop to fit the needs of for profit
companies, but its practice has been spread over to the non profit sector including
LIS. Shanhong (2000) suggests that the objective of knowledge Management in
libraries is to promote knowledge innovation, closer relationships in and between
libraries, and between a library and its users, to strengthen knowledge inter
networking and to quicken knowledge flow. For some in the LIS community, KM is
simply a case of new wine in old bottles or of librarianship in new clothes , and more
controversially, as nothing more than information management (Koenig, 1997;
Rowley, 2003; Schwarzwalder, 1999; Wilson, 2002).
The approaches that deal with the application of KM in the LIS environment are
relatively new, and are mainly perceptual and general in nature,

The letter to the Philippians has been the subject of historical criticism in relation to
its contemporary authors and philosophers. In Studies in Paul s Letter to the
Philippians , Hans Dieter Betz scrutinizes five segments from the letter to the
Philippians to examine scholastic interpretations and to suggest a new interpretation
regarding its literary genre as preparation for death(praemeditatio mortis).
Hans Dieter Betz is a German American scholar of the New Testament and Early
Christianity. He was born and raised in Germany, and he earned his Doctor of
Theology at Mainz in 1957 under Dr. Herbert Braun. He served as editor of the

criticism. Especially he critically engages to Lohmeyer s criticism on Philippians,
affirming that Lohmeyer s interpretation on the Philippians which reads the epistle as

s interpretation of Philippians as the polemic of Martyrs. He points out that regardless
of vivid and impressive ideas about Martyrdom in the letter(p. 17), connecting his
personal affliction to Philippian martyrdom is too subjective to validate. Betz clearly
demonstrates the difficulty of accessing to the original manuscripts of the
text(Volagen) through textual criticismand literary criticism due to the additional
redactions. By representing the uncertainty of the original text, he emphasizes the
variance of the text manuscripts and highlights the importance of textual criticism

41. Persuasive Essay On Medical Marijuana
Recent studies have proven that medical marijuana can be extremely beneficial to
the overall health and well being of individuals, especially those who suffer from
medical ailments. Consequently, the usage of marijuana has been a widespread
debate for decades throughout Nevada. For instance, Nevada was the sixth state in
the country to outlaw the use of cannabis in 1923, this was partly due to a nationwide
prohibition on drugs during 1911 1933 (Davenport Hines, 2004). Essentially, this
amended the NevadaConstitution outlawing the use of cannabis. However, as time
passed, the residents of Nevada decided it would be wise to allow the usage of
marijuana for medical purposes. Specifically, the usage of medical marijuana was up
for debate in 1998 and again in 2000, under Question 9, where the residents of
Nevada had voted on an initiativeto amend the previous legislature to the Nevada
Constitution, which allows the residents to use marijuana ...for the treatment or
alleviation of certain illnesses (Raybuck, 2010). It s worth noting that in order to
amend the state constitution in Nevada requires, ... via the ballot initiative process to
pass by a majority of voters in two consecutive general elections (Raybuck, 2010). In
other words, for the residents to amend the state constitution they needed to approve
the proposed ruling by a majority for two consecutive ballots. Furthermore, once the
initiative passed allowing the use of marijuana for medical purposes, Nevadans had a
42. The Life and Work of C.G. Jung Reconsidered Essay
The Life and Work of C.G. Jung Reconsidered In my original paper on Carl Gustav
Jung, I took a rather skeptical view of the doctor and his work, for several reasons
that I will reiterate. However, after studying further into his work, I realized that
these objections only related to his early psychiatric cases, and I found myself to
be far more intrigued and impressed by his later work and theories. While I had
stated in my first consideration of Jung that, there is a frustratingly limited, almost
biased quality to much of... his work , I was pleasantly surprised later on to find that
many of his later theories and assumptions were anything but limited. I still believe
that in his early case work he took tremendous risks, both... Show more content on

He also read Swedenborg (a noted Swedish philosopher and theologian best know
for his later work in which he presented ideas for a new spiritual era ) and studied
spiritualism and the paranormal. Jung eventually realized that what he really
wanted to do was psychiatry, and he became an assistant at Burgholzli Mental
Hospital, a clinic attached to the University of Zurich. Accounts of his early
psychiatric cases, as related to his assistants at Bughholzli, provide an interesting
overview of Jung as an individual as well as his formative ideas in the field of
psychotherapy and analysis. These early cases and the conclusions he draws from
them are, much like his predecessor and one time colleague, Sigmund Freud,
sometimes revolutionary and brilliant. Yet, as I had stated in my earlier paper on
Jung, I also found there to be a frustratingly limited and seemingly biased quality to
much of this work that, I felt, said as much about Jung the person as it did about
the work itself. I also felt that this frustration was compounded by the fact that Jung
openly criticized and departed from what he felt was non progressive methodologies
and ideologies of Freud and other contemporaries. I was intrigued by his objections
to rubber stamped diagnoses, and the tendencies of doctors and teachers of the time
to disregard the unique individuality of their patient s cases. He was clearly
43. The Hierarchy Of Structure And Agency
There is a constant debate about the primacy of structure or agency in forming human
behavior in the social science. Carlsnaes (as cited in Hay, 1995) claimed that the
problem of structure and agency is ... the central problem of social and political
theory . Radically, the agency structure problem is an ontological problem which is
related to the nature of structures, agents and their correlations (Wight, 2003). There
are four influential positions in the structure agency debate: structuralism,
intentionalism, structuration theory and critical realism (Hay, 1995). In his book,
structuralism emphasizes the dominance of structure rather than agency on behavior.
It is a structure centered approach, arguing that structures constrain and even
determine agency in the relationship between structure and agency. However,
intentionalism highlights the agents in explaining behavior. It is an agency centered
approach that regards structures as the product of intentional acts. Structuration
theory presents a developed attempt to transcend the dualism in which structure and
agency are connected externally. It argues for the duality of structure . Critical
realism is based on a dialectical cognizance of structure and agency, striving to
overcome the dualism of the two. It links to strategic relational approach . This essay
will argue that structure and agency is a dialectical unity of relationship, and they
entail and affect each other. In exceptional circumstances, they can be
44. World War 1 Causes
Causes of world War 1 World War one was one of the largest displays of conflict
that has ever happened. Never before had there been such a show of military force.
World War 1 is responsible for the deaths of 37 million civilian and military
casualties. The war lasted for four years, Involved 32 countries, and costed 32 billion
dollars. The war had many different reasons and factors for happening, but the main
cause was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of AustriaHungary. The
Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated on June 28th, 1914 by Serbian
nationalist Gavrilo Princip. Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie were driving
through Sarajevoa Serbian nationalist Nedjelko Cabrinovic threw a bomb at their car
in an assassination attempt though this only managed to injure an officer. Then as a

The defense alliances were agreements put in place to promise that in the event of
war the allied nation would receive support. These alliances could entail economic,
financial, logistical, and or military support. Due to the alliances in Europe splitting
into two different parts if any side got into a war it would mean that all of the
allied countries would have to participate. The Triple Alliance was formed in 1882
and encapsulated Germany, Austria Hungary, and Italy it was formed due to a
mutual tension against Russia and France. The Triple Entente was created in 1907
an alliance which consisted of Britain, Russia, and France. Small changes in the
Alliances also increased the tensions, like when an added clause in 1910 required
Germany s direct support if Austria Hungary was at war with Russia. Due to the
grand scale of the alliances, rising tension, and various conflict building alterations
caused a much larger
