Putting Fins On A Rocket
When working with fins on a rocket they are there to not only help the rocket balance but also to
propel it into the air. The purpose of putting fins on a rocket is to provide a stabability during flight
that is and intended flight path.If a typical amateur rocket was launched without fins, it would soon
begin to tumble after leaving the launcher because it doesnt have the stababily to continue its flight
in the right path without it just faaling back to the ground with the forceof gravity dragging it.Most
rockets have some kind of fin system in the back to help stabilize the rocket. This is true for any
kind of rocket, whether it is a missile, hobby rocket or space rocket. The size and the shape of the
fin on the rocket affects the overall performance, speed and height that the rocket obtains.

The Wizarding Gene
The wizarding gene is not passed down in blood like how it is explained in the books. It is a
gene, copied in families that carry the recessive code. A gene is informally defined as a unit of
heredity that is transferred from a parent to offspring and determines some characteristics of the
offspring (CITE). An Alleleis one of two or more alternative forms of a gene that arise by mutation
and are found at the same place on a chromosome. To be a wizard, a person must be born
Homozygous Recessive, meaning their DNA must have two copies of the same gne, but not a
dominant alelle. If the gene for magic was an M , their code would appear as mm. A real life
example of this would be eye color. A blue eyed person is homozygous recessive, and if they were
to inherit one dominant, brown... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because one can be a wizard with only one gene expression, the trait could be sex linked, passed
down through the X and Y chromosomes that determine our gender. In modern science, it wasa
determined that sex lined genes passed through the X chromosome were not recessive nor
dominant; just sex linked. (Dobyns 11). Because there were previous studies on sex linked
traits, like how two parents with color blindnesss (recessive) have a daughter or son, they could
also inherit color blindess (CITE). Because of new studies showing that the x linked traits to not
follow the same rules as normal inheritance, the original theory presented in this paper holds true.
The number of female and male wizards is proportional, but if the trait was sex linked, then
every family with any wizarding genes would have all boys born become wizards, while only
females who were born to two wizard parents could have magic. Because this is not true in the
book, as seen with the number of half blood and muggle born female witches, readers can know
that the trait is not sex

Whether the issue is a continuing problem of significant...
Whether the issue is a continuing problem of significant importance to society, or a relatively new
and unheard of phenomenon, public attention and activism tends to follow similar patterns of
cycling attitudes and behaviors. As Anthony Downs explains in an article written more than 30
years ago, issues regarding the environment tend to suddenly leap into prominence, remain there for
a short time, and then gradually fade from the center of public attention. He calls this process the
issue attention cycle, one of the most intriguing theories regarding environmental public opinion.
Even though this article was written in the 1970 s, Downs theory contains crucial insight into what
is currently happening with public opinion about the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next two stages highlight the decline of interest within environmental issues, resulting in an
immense decline in euphoric enthusiasm. Thus, the third stage of the issue attention cycle is
realizing the cost of significant progress. This entails the spread of a gradual realization that the
cost of solving the problem is much higher than originally expected. More specifically, it would
take a great deal of money and resources, as well as major sacrifices by large groups in the
population. This results in a realization by the public that the problem is usually a direct result
from some extremely beneficial aspect of their lives. For example, smog and air pollution can be
a result from the increased use of cars, so not only would cutting down on how often one drives a
car decrease this pollution, but would also decrease in the advantages that owning a car contains.
For some people, sacrificing these advantages comes as no easy task, and most don t want to
sacrifice at all.
Hence, and as Downs so succinctly puts it, the previous stage almost imperceptibly transforms into
the fourth stage; the gradual decline of intense public interest. Essentially, and as more and more
people realize the difficulties and time

The Importance of Child Bond to His Mother
The primal importance of a child s bond to his mother has always been recognized as a topic that
has fascinated people for hundreds of years. Among psychologists and sociologists, there is much
debate about exactly how important this attachment is and why.
At the turn of the century, the treatment of new born babies was regarded as having little
significance for later life, because babies were thought to be immune to influence. Such idea was
attacked by Sigmund Freud. He believed the relationship a child has with his mother was a
prototype on which all future relationships were based.
Freud s theory held that the child becomes attached to his mother because she is the source of food;
hence she gratifies his most basic needs. Slightly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This second phase of attachment is more widely accepted than the first, and has far greater long
term significance (Bee, 1995). However, the main concern is what happens if the child does not
form a primary parental attachment. The most obvious case is of children who form no such
attachment at all.
Harlow (1962) having studied the attachment behavior in rhesus monkeys followed this up with a
study of the consequences of having no attachment at all. He raised monkeys in isolation for
periods of time, and found that those who had no contact with their mothers, nor any peers during
the first year of their lives were severely disturbed by the experience. When brought out of isolation,
these monkeys did not participate in the active play, which is characteristic of normal monkeys,
instead they huddled and withdrew. Once they turned into matured monkeys, they also proved to be
incapable of mating, and those that were artificially inseminated were incompetent parents.
Interestingly, monkeys who had not experienced being loved by a mother showed no love for their
children, and even abused them horrifically.
To establish whether or not a similar phenomenon occurs in human development, Goldfarb (1955)
studied children who were brought up in orphanages with little or no human contact for the first 3
years of their lives, and he compared them to children

Pornography Viewed by The Four Ethical Standards Essay
The word Pornography is defined as writings, photographs, movies, etc., intended to arouse sexual
excitement . With each year that passes pornography has been more and more accepted, it can be
seen in books, magazines, cable television and most of all through the internet. Many religions go
against it, but at the same time people know that there is a reason why people go into the business
and accepted it an other people just like it. In this paper I will talk about pornography and how it is
viewed by the four ethical standards (Utilitarian, Kant, Human Rightsand Justice is Fairness).
Utility (Utilitarian) is measured by the amount of benefits for all people or greatest number of
people. By this pornography is accepted since it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Off course there are exemptions on which people are brought into the business against there
own will. By this standard if you choose to go into the business then by K 2 standards it is
ethical. K 1 applies the Universality principle, which asks the question Would a person in a
similar circumstance do the same thing? Most of the people who are in the pornography business
know that they could be making money in another way. And if asked, they would not like their son
or daughter to follow their steps. By this it would flunk the K 1 standard. K 3 applies the publicity
test, which asks Would I be willing to tell my grandmother? By majority nobody would tell their
grandmother about it, if he or she is working in pornography. It would flunk the publicity test.
Human Rights are what more people are concerned with. Pornography fits in where people have
the freedom of speech, life and the right to pursue happiness. While people are doing it by their
own means and have the adequate age then pornography is all right. In my opinion pornography
does violate welfare rights, since pornography is not considered a moral and ethical way of living
because it is not a descent environment. Pornography under the principle of equal liberty it is
accepted since it gives liberty to choose. But the only thing is that not everyone respects the people
who work in pornography, because they don t think it is right to make their living in that way.

The US Fishing Industry
In 1988 50,000 people were commercial fishing, but in 2002 there was only 27,000 still in the
fishing industry. Commercial fishing can affect the economy or be good for the economy of an
area. With the commercial fishing industry brings in millions of dollars by the amount of fish that
is coming in from the fisherman who are out fishingto make money. Fishing has a big effect on the
environment were the fishing is happening. Commercial fishing brings in millions of fish that are
worth billions in dollars every year. But there is a downside to fishing.
The cost to go fishing commercially comes in so many different ways. One possibility is an
expanded version of the $1,500 toll that Canada briefly imposed last year on U.S. fishing boats ...

At points you can only keep so many fish or even one kind of fish. With commercial fishing each
boat/person is allowed a number of fish or it can be pounds. The breaking point for Canada came
Tobin said last week, when Alaska would not agree to reduce its catch of chinook salmonbelow
230,000 fish. (The West Coast War) Canada wanted Alaska to lower the amount of chinook salmon
caught by fisherman in the river that goes into Canada from Alaska. They wanted it because
more fish would be coming into Canada to help with the next chinook salmon run. Places put
laws of fish that will help the fish population or just help stocks to come back from being over
fished in years past. The number of fish became so few that Canada enacted a moratorium on
cod fishing to allow stocks to recover. (Environmental Consequences) There was less and less
cod being caught because of being overfished so Canada put laws in them to help the population
to come back. The United states has also placed severe restriction on the industry, cutting back the
amount of time that people can fish and reducing to total amount of cod that could be caught.
(Environmental Consequences) With cutting the time and the amount of fish that people can
caught that gives the fish time to recover from being overfished. Some places allow fishermen to
use serein type of fishing. Longline fishing, this practice is often employed in the open ocean
and consists of miles of line off of thousands of bated hooks are attached and a single long line
can have more than 2,500 hooks. (Environmental Consequences) The fisherman has more of a
chance to get something. Dredging is a practice commonly used to harvest clams and employs a
large metal scoop that drags along the seafloor to pick them up. (Environmental Consequences)
Can get clams a lot faster and sooner then having a person go down and try to dig them up.

Wash Your Nails Research Paper
Every girl wants a great set of nails. We want them to be long, strong, and shiny. When you sit
down and do your nails, the last thing you want is the paint to smudge, chip, or even your nail to
totally break. ANNOYING! Just to give you all a brief backstory on my nails, my nails used to be
fabulous before I moved to LA. Once I arrive, they became brittle and cracked at the tips. They
were not pretty. Even paying for a quick $20 manicurenever really helped. So I turned to my great
source and knowledgeable pal, Google. Here are some quick tips I would like to share.
1. Do Not Wash Your Hands
I always thought you were to wash your hands and nails prior to applying your nail color to get rid
of any debris or polish remover. However, this can cause your nails and cuticles to trap moisture
which will later help promote your polish to chip. Instead, I would recommend taking a cotton ball
and applying some rubbing alcohol to help remove any debris from your nails. ... Show more

Sanitize Your Utensils
I had no clue that I should sanitize my emory board, but it does make total sense. When using
clippers, cuticle cutters, files, and buffers, it is highly recommended to disinfect with warm
water and antibacterial soap or Barbicide. Clippers are prone to catching bacteria from the tip of
your fingers, just below your nails. This bacteria can grow rapidly if the clippers are stored in a
bathroom where it is dark, hot and humid. If the bacteria are left on the clippers, you are allowing
the bacteria to get under your nails which can help aid in

there are experiences and outcomes that the children have achieved in the different areas of the
nursery, containing photos and evidence of what they completed. This supports responsive planning
and allows the Early Years Workers to plan approproate next steps accordingly. ***
Due to there being a high number of staff and Early Years Officers within the nursery, multiple
children can be attended to at the same time. Members of staff will greet the children when they
first come in individually, and will then ask them which area they would like to play at within the
nursery. If a child responds with an activity of some sort, then the staff member will take the child
instantly to that area and help them set it up and will stay with them whilst they complete the
task***. Although the children have a large amount of free choice and play within the day, there is
a set structure of events and times that the children are instructed to come together and part take in.

The Female Characters Of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
The female characters in Frankenstein represent the treatment of women in the early 1800 s.
Women who are deprived of their female roles and are enclosed in a feminine sphere of
domesticity. In the novel, Frankenstein, the women characters are treated as property and have
little privileges in relationship to the malecharacters, the women suffer and are eventually destroyed
showing how unimportant they are in the book s society, and when it comes to reproduction of
humans, man thinks it pointless to have women play that role. These attacks on the innocent prove
that women are second rate in the novel.
The women in Frankenstein are forced to be submissive. Victor treats Elizabeth more like a
possession or object instead of a living, breathing human being. Elizabeth is passive around
Victor. She and other women of the novel, are accepting of the male controlled society being the
powerful figure because that is what they were raised to follow (Kolker). Men withdraw the
women of their rights thus the women are forced to act well mannered. Like Elizabeth s
destruction, the monsterette s creation and destruction dramatize how women do not function in
their own right but rather as signs and conduits for men s relations with other men (Smith 323).
Elizabeth possesses herself as being quiet and calm. This quiet behavior adds to the fact that she is
a possession and not an individual. All praises bestowed on her, I received as made to a possession
of my own (Shelly 44).

Andrew Jackson And The Trail Of Tears
With every young country comes mistakes, and every good leader comes an awful one. When
President Andrew Jackson got elected into office, a massive amount of problems erupted and
many policies were broken. The main policy that Jackson broke was passing the Indian Removal
Act: the forced removal of the Five Civilized Tribes to relocate to land west of the Mississippi.
The Five Civilized Tribes were groups of Indians who took up territory within the United Statesbut
upon agreement of the United States government, acted as Europeans in order to be allowed to stay
living within the territory. However, with the unconstitutional act and Jackson wanting more land,
the loyal tribes had no other option but to leave and encounter the tragedy event known as the Trail
of Tears. Along of the journey on the Trail of Tears came ghastly hardships that are defined to be
one of the worst human tragedies in history. Therefore, Jackson was not justified in his policy
involving the Native Americans due to the tribes being unreasonably forced to moving, which lead
to one of the worst human tragedies that is known today. In history today, the amount of pain and
suffering that the Native Americans confronted is classified to be the most tragic event due to
Andrew Jacksons cruel leadership skills. From the beginning, Jackson was foreshadowed to be a
terrible President due to his wild behavior, but at the time, only some people were able to see
directly through his guise. When Jackson passed

one short story you have studied. Rhinoceros Beetle by Susan Hawthorne is a story about a boy s

... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author agrees with the idea of women as victims through the characterisation of women in
the short story. The women are portrayed as helpless to the torment inflicted upon them by the
boy in the story. This positions readers to feel sympathy for the women but also think of the
world outside the text in which women are also seen as inferior to men. Each season provided
him new ways of frightening the little girls who sat in front of him or behind him . This
statement shows that the boy s primary target were the girls who sat next to him. This supports
the tradition idea of women as the victims and compels readers to see that the women in the text
are treated more or less the same as the women in the outside world. Characterisation has been
used by the author to reinforce the traditional idea of women as the helpless victims. The short
story presents women as aware but misunderstood by men through use of narrative point of view.
In society women are usually seen as inferior to men, and therefore often don t get the
acknowledgement they deserve. The women held their secrets because when they mentioned it to
their husbands or brothers they were laughed at....Instead of sympathy, the husbands and brothers
now had a secret weapon . This shows that women did not share their fears as it gave others ideas
to torment them further. Women in the short story are also shown to be fully aware of the boy s
behaviour early on in the story. The men of his home town said, but how

Rhetorical Analysis of Public Thinking
Journalist, Clive Thompson in his book, Smarter Than You Think , specifically in the chapter titled,
Public Thinking , published on September 12, 2013, addresses the topic of technology and argues
that because of the internet, we are doing more writing now than ever. Therefore technology is
helping us think publicly in new and improved ways. He supports this claim by asserting that
there is an improvement in our writing, which is happening because of the audience effect , he
then goes on to say that anything we write changes the way we think, and finally he talks about
how the internet builds connections, which is essential to the spread of new ideas. Thompson s
purpose is to inform readers about how the internet is a tool being used to advance our society in
order to encourage more people to partake in online, public thinking. He adopts a contemplative
tone for his audience, the readers of The New York Times, and others interested in the topic of
technology. It is my intention in this paper to analyze the author s subclaims and use of rhetorical
strategies.
In his article, Thompson claims that there is an audience effect which is causing an improvement in
writing. While talking about the important aspects of the increase in online writing, Thompson
states that, When you write something online whether it s a one sentence status update, a comment

me very confused considering I didn t know of any appointments I had, and I didn t ask my mom
if I could go home early. Leaving the class and entering the empty hall, thinking about what s
going on as my footsteps echoing through the halls. What s going on? Why would I be leaving
this close to the end of school? As I walked past the office to my locker, I saw my mom with red
eyes and purple bags under her eyes. At that moment, my stomach flipped and knotted up,
because it s at that moment when I realized something very wrong has happened. My pace
quickened to the point of almost running; shoving my French one book and Algebra one in my
backpack before sprinting to my mom. She met me by the big glass doors in the lobby of the
office; laying a hand on my shoulder she told me my dad had a major heart attack. I had felt my
body instinctively lunged toward the door, but my mom held my shoulder tight. As we walked to

The Viscosity of Liquids
39. The Viscosity of Liquids
After studying the present lecture, you will be able to
Define viscosity and viscosity coefficient
Outline the method to measure viscosity using Ostwald viscometer
Determine the average molecular weight of a polymer
Determine the surface concentration of 1 butanol in aqueous solution
Measure the distribution coefficient of a solute betweenn two solvents
39.1 Introduction
Viscosity, one of the transport properties, arises because of intermolecular attractive and relatively
long range forces. Viscosity coefficient ([pic]), a specific constant characteristic of a liquidcould be
expressed by the following equation of Poiseuille.
[pic] ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The constant a is sensitive to the shape and varies from zero for hard sphere or 0.5 for random
coils to 2.0 for rigid rods.
Variation of specific viscosity of a solution [pic] (specific viscosity or reduced viscosity) is
defined as [pic], where [pic] is the viscosity of solution i and [pic] the viscosity of pure solvent)
with the concentration of solute is given by the equation:
[pic](39.7)
where, c is concentration of the polymer in g/mL and K is a constant.
The determination of average molecular weight of polyvinyl acetate in acetone and methanol uses
the following Procedure:
Prepare solution of polyvinyl acetate in acetone containing approximately 1 mg/ mL. From this
prepare four more solutions of 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 mg/ mL by dilution. Measure the specific
viscosity of all the four solutions as described above.
Repeat the above experiment with solution of polyvinyl acetate in methanol.
Plot [pic] versus c and calculate [pic] and K from equation (2). Also, using the empirical formula
(1) and constant of K and a from the table given below, determine the molecular weight of polyvinyl
acetate in these two solvents.
|Solvent |K |a |
|Acetone |21.4 x 105 |0.68 |
|Methanol |38 x 10 5 |0.59 |

The Different Organs Of The Cardiovascular System
The Cardiovascular system, also known as the circulatory system, includes the heart and its vessels.
Its purpose is to circulate blood throughout the body and its cells, delivering needed substances and
removing waste. The different organs of the cardiovascular system include the heart and its blood
vessels, which are capillaries, arteries and veins. There are two parts to the cardiovascular system,
pulmonary circulation and systemic circulation. Pulmonary circulation is between the heartand the
lungs. The heart sends deoxygenated bloodout the right ventricle through the left pulmonary artery,
into the lungs. The lungs then oxygenate the blood and send it back to the heart through the right
pulmonary artery. The oxygenated blood... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The heart is divided in half by the septum and has four chambers; right and left atria s and the
right and left ventricles. The heart also has four values to ensure the blood flows throughout the
chambers properly these are called the; tricuspid valve, mitral valve, pulmonary valve and the
aortic valve. All of those are surrounded by the thick wall of the heart with three layers. The
endocardium is the inner smooth layer surrounding each chamber. The myocardium is the thick
muscular middle layer, the muscular wall of this layer allows the heart to contract and pump the
blood. The epicardium layer is the outer layer of the heart. Since the heart is a muscle it also
needs its own supply of the blood circulating around it. Once the blood is oxygenated and travels
through the aortic valve. There are two sets of arteries, the left main coronary artery and the right
coronary artery, that bring the blood back around through the heart muscle. Blockage to any of
these arteries will trigger a myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack. A heart
attack will occur when the flow of oxygenated blood is blocked, stopping the muscle from
receiving oxygen. Blockage to your coronary arteries most commonly occurs due to plaque buildup
over time. If left untreated that part of the muscle will die. Warning signs and symptoms of a heart
attack can occur days, even weeks in before the heart attack. Symptoms can

Carl Jung Research Paper
Carl Jung
Carl Jung is possibly one of the most important figures in psychology, and yet he remains
controversial. For many psychologists he is little more than a historical curiosity. Someone who
worked with Freud in the early days of the founding of psychoanalysis, and then went his own way,
founded his own school of psychology, became rather eccentric, and is worthy of only the most
cursory of mentions in introductory text books. To other psychologists, he is possibly the most
complete psychologist that there has ever been. He made radical and significant contributions to all
four of the major areas of psychology. A feat that is quite unequalled by anyone else. His research

In American psychology, behaviorism was a powerful force, and began with the very traditional
approach of theorists such as John B. Watson and B. F. Skinner. Alongside the experimental
behaviorists were the learning theorists, such as Clark Hull. As Dollard and Miller tried to find
some common ground between psychodynamic theory and traditional learning approaches, they
were inevitably led to consider the role of social factors in human learning. Bandura, Rotter, and
Mischel built on the legacy of Dollard and Miller, but added to it the active role of cognition in the
human species. Finally, Kelly moved to a purely cognitive description of how individuals become

Personal homepage or company websites are the best ways for sharing data ideas with
people which can have unlimited purposes. In 2000, 5.5 Million people were subscribed to

Goffman s theory of The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life , a person tries to control his or

it with a stage performance where the impression given is the impression that a person tries to

The Impact Of Multiculturalism And Multiracialism In...
Multiculturalism and multiracialism has become the proud hallmark of Singapore society today.
However, the issues that come together with them still seem to plaque the community even after
more than five decades. In retrospect, these issues are more protuberant in the implementation level
than at the policy making stage. The way Chua Beng Huat asserted in his paper titled
Multiculturalismin Singapore: an instrument of social control, it seems as though multiculturalism
and multiracialism are double edged swords which can cut both ways.

Theme Of Sticks And Stones
Sticks and Stones
The title of this short story derives from the nursery rhyme: Sticks and stones may break my
bones / But words will never hurt me . The theme of the rhyme is to ignore name calling and other
vicious attempts to vocally harm a person, since words will never get to them like physical
violence will (i.e. broken bones). However, the theme of the short story proves otherwise. Lewis,
the main character, was bullied as a child. He s damaged from the experience both mentally and
physically. Even though his bullies never technically laid a finger on him, his life has been shaped
by their actions. In this case, and many others, words have definitely hurt him.

because he hadn t made it to this stage (i.e. being beaten up)) it is possible no bullying actually
happened. When he runs and hides at the beach, he sees the bullies shadows with fishing rods
with them (or what he assumes are their shadows) and then jumps over the concrete defence. He
is rescued by the people with the fishing rods. Why would they save him, if they despised him?
In Paul Fry s case the headmaster examines Lewis notes. If he or any other teacher noticed the
same violence right in the middle of the school yard, wouldn t they intervene? Disregarding
whether or not they are good teachers/people. Perhaps Lewis witnessed a small altercation and then
blew it out of proportion. It is a possibility, that he is an unreliable narrator he could have mental
problems.
Regardless of his mental state, Lewis is still emotionally damaged from his childhood. It wasn t
sticks and stones that hurt him, it was words. Maybe allusions. Whether or not his bully was a
burly, older boy or his own mind, it s clear that bullying is not just physical violence anymore. A
broken arm will heal, but words will haunt you forever. Words will come back at your weakest

The film documents many of the fights and journeys following the exile of Bolivar including a trek
across the Andes Mountain Range in order to attack the Spaniards in Bolivia. After these
journeys, the film demonstrates the political upheaval and consternation that arose due to the
self centered ambition of some political figures opposing a unified South America. These men
instigated another revolution against Bolivar and his ideals and although the coup in the
opening scene was not successful at that particular moment, betrayal eventually led to an
implication of the Bolivar s murder at the hands of the rebels. When this film was released in the
US on June 15, 2014, there was a mixed reception from critics. Many questioned the historical
accuracy of the film, primarily the portrayed death of Bolivar, Bolivar s extensive journey over
the Andes mountain range in the middle of winter in order to reach Colombia, and some other
minor dramatic elements in the film that increase the intrigue and plot of the film. The major
historical error in this film is in regards to Bolivar s portrayed death. It is widely accepted that
Bolivar did not die at the hands of murderous traitors, but instead died from tuberculosis at age 47.
In spite of this, many critics ranked the film

Pkkia Genetic Disorder
PKU, also known as Phenylketonuria, is a genetic disorder that builds up the amino acid
phenylalanine in the human body. This genetic disorder is known to be an example of the norm of
reaction. The norm of reaction defines itself as a phenotype range that a person with a certain
genotype reveals due to the differing of a certain environmental condition. Since this genetic
mutation targeted the genethat encrypts the enzyme phenylalanine hydroxylase, it shows that if a
person has one and/or two copies of that certain gene, that person would have the ability to eat and
metabolize foods with phenylalanine. But, if a person has two copies of the mutated gene, they
wouldn t be able to eat nor metabolize foods with phenylalanine because if a person with PKU
were to ingest foods with phenylalanine, the amino acid will accumulate in their body and become
highly toxic to the person and the PKU homozygotes will lead to an assortment of detrimental
symptoms, which currently occurs in about 1 in 10,000 babies.... Show more content on

William Shakespeare s Jabberwocky And Lear s Limericks...
When everything in our reality seems like unreal, it can be difficult to distinguish between sense
and nonsense. Everyday we seem to read another tragic headline about people getting assaulted
for being their true selves, countries being torn apart because of hate and intolerance and
innocent children getting killed in the crossfire. The frightening part is when these horrors that
never make any sense become normal to us. It begs the question, has the world gone mad or
have we? Growing up can be a difficult and confusing experience for all. As we grow older and
realize the world is more than what is right in front of us. We ask questions to try and make
sense of the world as we grow from the simplicity of childhood to the complications of adulthood.
As we mature, our perceptions of the world change drastically. A child s closed off world view is
challenged as he begins to ask questions and explore. What seemed simple before is much more
intricate now. The use of nonsensein both Carroll s Jabberwockyand Lear s limericks from The
Book of Nonsense force us to challenge nonsensical situations so we can grow and adjust to the
harsh realities of our world by realizing that things are not always what they seem. Both authors do
this effectively through the absence of meaning and the use of juxtaposition.
The absence of meaning in both Carroll and Lear s poems is significant, even though it may seem
like the opposite. When reading these poems for the first time, the reader may be

The Road By Cormac Mccarthy, Ray Bradbury, And 1984
Dystopian fiction is an alternate society characterized by a focus on that which is contrary to the
author s ethos, portraying it as mass poverty, public mistrust, police state, or oppression. This
genre was chosen because it allows for readers to feel better and thankful for our society s current
state. The works that I used to investigate this genre were The Road by Cormac McCarthy,
Fahrenheit 451by Ray Bradbury, and 1984 by George Orwell. All of these books are categorized
in the dystopian genre but have very different symbols, styles, and implications. Each of these
novels have different styles because some include a society with overbearing rules, such as
Fahrenheit 451 and 1984, whereas The Road has virtually no society. Despite their differences,
the purpose of these novels is to demonstrate that the only thing strong enough to conquer a
corrupt and inhumane society is through true love and passion. Dystopian fiction first came
about in the early 1900 s and is read by many as political warnings. Many authors of dystopian
fiction explore at least one reason why things are the way the are in the novel, which is used as
an analogy for similar issues in the real world. One of the first well known dystopian novels was
We written by Yevgeny Zamyatin in 1921. It predicted a post apocalyptic future in which society

The Matrix, By Directors Lana And Larry Wachowski Essay
Due to technology more advanced, it is only natural for people to question the possibilities and
dangers as well its consequences to our society. Science fiction genres are great depictions and
visual representations that can bring possible answers to our doubts. In the film The Matrix
(1999), directors Lana and Larry Wachowski convey their idea that freedom is when you can fully
control you own life and the theme of Reality Vs. illusion through characterization, setting and the
films visual effects. The protagonist Neo, is a hacker who believes that he is not truly awake and
feels an unexplainable doubt in his life. He is then awakened by Morpheus, the leader of the
resistance against the matrix, into an apocalyptic world where machines control peoples minds
through a program called the matrix . Throughout their battle in rescuing the humanrace, the crucial
idea of what true freedom is, constantly stirs up not only the characters but also the viewer s
minds. Would we call living in a reality full of chaos being free, or would we rather live in an
illusion where you are free and the society is perfect, but in reality being locked up in a tube?
The theme of Man Vs Machine is communicated through characterization and costume. The matrix
is an example of human devolution, when Machine takes over human species. In the film, humans
are enslaved by machines in an invisible prison where they perceive they live normal lives, but in
reality they are controlled by the machines.

Understanding the Three Stages of Change Unfreeze Change Refreeze.
iStockphoto/doram
Change is a common thread that runs through all businesses regardless of size, industry and age.
Our world is changing fast and, as such, organizations must change quickly too. Organizations that
handle change well thrive, whilst those that do not may struggle to survive.
The concept of change management is a familiar one in most businesses today. But, how businesses
manage change (and how successful they are at it) varies enormously depending on the nature of
the business, the change and the people involved. And a key part of this depends on how far people
within it understand the change process.
One of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to accept the change and contribute to making the change successful, people need to
understand how the changes will benefit them. Not everyone will fall in line just because the
change is necessary and will benefit the company. This is a common assumption and pitfall that
should be avoided.
Tip:
Unfortunately, some people will genuinely be harmed by change, particularly those who benefit
strongly from the status quo. Others may take a long time to recognize the benefits that change
brings. You need to foresee and manage these situations.
Time and communication are the two keys to success for the changes to occur. People need time to
understand the changes and they also need to feel highly connected to the organization throughout
the transition period. When you are managing change, this can require a great deal of time and
effort and hands on management is usually the best approach.
Refreeze
When the changes are taking shape and people have embraced the new ways of working, the
organization is ready to refreeze. The outward signs of the refreeze are a stable organization chart,
consistent job descriptions, and so on. The refreeze stage also needs to help people and the
organization internalize or institutionalize the changes. This means making sure that the changes
are used all the time; and that they are incorporated into everyday business. With a new sense of
stability, employees feel confident and comfortable with the new

Here you have two major American political candidates from both the Democratic and Republican
parties emphasizing the need for authority and moderation for the dangerous aspects of the World

idea sounds, as shutting something down online doesn t necessarily prevent it from being built up
again. In another sense, it s long overdue for politicians to start taking the issue of toxicity in
global internet activity and reactivity very seriously. This issue is not so much about terrorism
itself. Fundamentally speaking, it is about the downsides of the internet s global reach and the
lack of exclusivity that dangerous ideas have because of social media s accessibility. In can be
argued by the social contract theory that people, in general, will submit to their governments
under a common law to live in a civil society. In other words, the authority of the law, and its
ability to dish out consequences for actions, is what can ensure communal peace and security
among people. But legislation has a notorious lag time in its ability to properly keep up with
technology and its sociological uses. There arguably isn t a clearly defined social contract on the
internet. Overall, this is an issue about how internet rhetoric seems to be fueling a contagious toxic

The Pros And Cons Of Stereotypes
Photoshopping in the United States has a positive side and a negative side. Unfortunately, the
media and advertisements took photoshopping too far and showed off its evil ways. Some
companies have made their models look incredible, which isn t ideal in the minds of the children
viewing those particular photos. Teenagers spend a majority of their time on their smart devices
scrolling through the popular news feeds on their favorite social media apps constantly being
reminded of extremely skinny models with perfectly clear skin. They dream of looking the way
all models do on the cover of a magazine, however they need to realize how fake and unnatural
everything they read or see can be. Some of the features models show in their perfect display can
look unnatural... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to a survey taken in 2001, which involved 13,601 undergraduates in high school,
teenagers who contemplate suicide the most are the ones who are overweight, but teens who
recognized themselves as either extremely fat or extremely skinny were twice as likely to
undertake or consider killing themselves (Arak). The act of photoshopping something so small
can lead someone down a deep, dark path. The suicide rate has increased a tremendous amount
over the past few years, and the main reason why is from young females viewing themselves as
fat or overweight. These issues would not occur if the models in retail stores or magazines were
true to their size. If these juvenile children are becoming suicidal from these reasons, the
photoshopping industry should begin to create their models to have those extra stretch marks and
blemishes so they start to feel like it is alright to look natural. A common argument against this is
that the environment obviously plays a role in the buildup of an eating disorder. Most females will
develop an eating disorder at some time in their life, but less

Racial Ethnic Differences Of Offending, Victimization, And...
Q1.The racial/ethnic differences in offending, victimization, and incarceration? Minorities,
particularly African Americans, are generally overrepresented in the criminal justice system both
as offenders and as victims. According to the Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) for 2003, African
Americans (who were 12.7 percent of the population in 2003) were arrested for 37 percent of
violent crimes (murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery and aggravated
assault) and 29 percent of property crime(102:288). African Americans are disproportionately
arrested for violent crimes and whites for burglaries and property crimes. Although most crime
is committed by males, black women are also disproportionately involved in the criminal justice
system. The rate of black women under control of the criminal justice system is growing faster
than for any other group, including black men and white men (86:136). Blacks are victims of
serious violent crimes at far higher rates than whites. In 2002, blacks were 6 times more likely to
be murdered than whites; and although homicide levels have declined for all groups over the past
decade, during the 1976 to 2002 period, rates were disproportionately high for African Americans at
47 percent of victims (28
Native Americans also have disproportionately high rates of criminal offending and victimization.
Arrest data from the 2003 UCR indicate that American Indian or Alaskan Natives, who were

The purpose of putting fins on a rocket is to provide a stabability during flight that is and intended flight path.If a typical amateur rocket was launched without fins, it would soon begin to tumble after leaving the launcher because it doesnt have the stababily to continue its flight in the right path without it just faaling back to the ground with the forceof gravity dragging it.Most rockets have some kind of fin system in the back to help stabilize the rocket. This is true for any kind of rocket, whether it is a missile, hobby rocket or space rocket. The size and the shape of the fin on the rocket affects the overall performance, speed and height that the rocket obtains. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Wizarding Gene The wizarding gene is not passed down in blood like how it is explained in the books. It is a gene, copied in families that carry the recessive code. A gene is informally defined as a unit of heredity that is transferred from a parent to offspring and determines some characteristics of the offspring (CITE). An Alleleis one of two or more alternative forms of a gene that arise by mutation and are found at the same place on a chromosome. To be a wizard, a person must be born Homozygous Recessive, meaning their DNA must have two copies of the same gne, but not a dominant alelle. If the gene for magic was an M , their code would appear as mm. A real life example of this would be eye color. A blue eyed person is homozygous recessive, and if they were to inherit one dominant, brown... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because one can be a wizard with only one gene expression, the trait could be sex linked, passed down through the X and Y chromosomes that determine our gender. In modern science, it wasa determined that sex lined genes passed through the X chromosome were not recessive nor dominant; just sex linked. (Dobyns 11). Because there were previous studies on sex linked traits, like how two parents with color blindnesss (recessive) have a daughter or son, they could also inherit color blindess (CITE). Because of new studies showing that the x linked traits to not follow the same rules as normal inheritance, the original theory presented in this paper holds true. The number of female and male wizards is proportional, but if the trait was sex linked, then every family with any wizarding genes would have all boys born become wizards, while only females who were born to two wizard parents could have magic. Because this is not true in the book, as seen with the number of half blood and muggle born female witches, readers can know that the trait is not sex ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Whether the issue is a continuing problem of significant... Whether the issue is a continuing problem of significant importance to society, or a relatively new and unheard of phenomenon, public attention and activism tends to follow similar patterns of cycling attitudes and behaviors. As Anthony Downs explains in an article written more than 30 years ago, issues regarding the environment tend to suddenly leap into prominence, remain there for a short time, and then gradually fade from the center of public attention. He calls this process the issue attention cycle, one of the most intriguing theories regarding environmental public opinion. Even though this article was written in the 1970 s, Downs theory contains crucial insight into what is currently happening with public opinion about the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The next two stages highlight the decline of interest within environmental issues, resulting in an immense decline in euphoric enthusiasm. Thus, the third stage of the issue attention cycle is realizing the cost of significant progress. This entails the spread of a gradual realization that the cost of solving the problem is much higher than originally expected. More specifically, it would take a great deal of money and resources, as well as major sacrifices by large groups in the population. This results in a realization by the public that the problem is usually a direct result from some extremely beneficial aspect of their lives. For example, smog and air pollution can be a result from the increased use of cars, so not only would cutting down on how often one drives a car decrease this pollution, but would also decrease in the advantages that owning a car contains. For some people, sacrificing these advantages comes as no easy task, and most don t want to sacrifice at all. Hence, and as Downs so succinctly puts it, the previous stage almost imperceptibly transforms into the fourth stage; the gradual decline of intense public interest. Essentially, and as more and more people realize the difficulties and time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Importance of Child Bond to His Mother The primal importance of a child s bond to his mother has always been recognized as a topic that has fascinated people for hundreds of years. Among psychologists and sociologists, there is much debate about exactly how important this attachment is and why. At the turn of the century, the treatment of new born babies was regarded as having little significance for later life, because babies were thought to be immune to influence. Such idea was attacked by Sigmund Freud. He believed the relationship a child has with his mother was a prototype on which all future relationships were based. Freud s theory held that the child becomes attached to his mother because she is the source of food; hence she gratifies his most basic needs. Slightly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This second phase of attachment is more widely accepted than the first, and has far greater long term significance (Bee, 1995). However, the main concern is what happens if the child does not form a primary parental attachment. The most obvious case is of children who form no such attachment at all. Harlow (1962) having studied the attachment behavior in rhesus monkeys followed this up with a study of the consequences of having no attachment at all. He raised monkeys in isolation for periods of time, and found that those who had no contact with their mothers, nor any peers during the first year of their lives were severely disturbed by the experience. When brought out of isolation, these monkeys did not participate in the active play, which is characteristic of normal monkeys, instead they huddled and withdrew. Once they turned into matured monkeys, they also proved to be incapable of mating, and those that were artificially inseminated were incompetent parents. Interestingly, monkeys who had not experienced being loved by a mother showed no love for their children, and even abused them horrifically. To establish whether or not a similar phenomenon occurs in human development, Goldfarb (1955) studied children who were brought up in orphanages with little or no human contact for the first 3 years of their lives, and he compared them to children ... While people are doing it by their own means and have the adequate age then pornography is all right. In my opinion pornography does violate welfare rights, since pornography is not considered a moral and ethical way of living because it is not a descent environment. Each season provided him new ways of frightening the little girls who sat in front of him or behind him . This statement shows that the boy s primary target were the girls who sat next to him. This supports the tradition idea of women as the victims and compels readers to see that the women in the text are treated more or less the same as the women in the outside world. Even though his bullies never technically laid a finger on him, his life has been shaped by their actions. In this case, and many others, words have definitely hurt him. He is rescued by the people with the fishing rods. Why would they save him, if they despised him? In Paul Fry s case the headmaster examines Lewis notes. If he or any other teacher noticed the same violence right in the middle of the school yard, wouldn t they intervene? Disregarding whether or not they are good teachers/people. Perhaps Lewis witnessed a small altercation and then blew it out of proportion. It is a possibility, that he is an unreliable narrator he could have mental problems. Regardless of his mental state, Lewis is still emotionally damaged from his childhood. It wasn t sticks and stones that hurt him, it was words. Maybe allusions. The film documents many of the fights and journeys following the exile of Bolivar including a trek across the Andes Mountain Range in order to attack the Spaniards in Bolivia. After these journeys, the film demonstrates the political upheaval and consternation that arose due to the self centered ambition of some political figures opposing a unified South America. These men instigated another revolution against Bolivar and his ideals and although the coup in the opening scene was not successful at that particular moment, betrayal eventually led to an implication of the Bolivar s murder at the hands of the rebels. When this film was released in the US on June 15, 2014, there was a mixed reception from critics. Many questioned the historical accuracy of the film, primarily the portrayed death of Bolivar, Bolivar s extensive journey over the Andes mountain range in the middle of winter in order to reach Colombia, and some other minor dramatic elements in the film that increase the intrigue and plot of the film. The major historical error in this film is in regards to Bolivar s portrayed death. It is widely accepted that Bolivar did not die at the hands of murderous traitors, but instead died from tuberculosis at age 47. In spite of this, many critics ranked the film ... • 31. Pkkia Genetic Disorder PKU, also known as Phenylketonuria, is a genetic disorder that builds up the amino acid phenylalanine in the human body. This genetic disorder is known to be an example of the norm of reaction. The norm of reaction defines itself as a phenotype range that a person with a certain genotype reveals due to the differing of a certain environmental condition. Since this genetic mutation targeted the genethat encrypts the enzyme phenylalanine hydroxylase, it shows that if a person has one and/or two copies of that certain gene, that person would have the ability to eat and metabolize foods with phenylalanine. But, if a person has two copies of the mutated gene, they wouldn t be able to eat nor metabolize foods with phenylalanine because if a person with PKU were to ingest foods with phenylalanine, the amino acid will accumulate in their body and become highly toxic to the person and the PKU homozygotes will lead to an assortment of detrimental symptoms, which currently occurs in about 1 in 10,000 babies.... • 35. William Shakespeare s Jabberwocky And Lear s Limericks... When everything in our reality seems like unreal, it can be difficult to distinguish between sense and nonsense. Everyday we seem to read another tragic headline about people getting assaulted for being their true selves, countries being torn apart because of hate and intolerance and innocent children getting killed in the crossfire. The frightening part is when these horrors that never make any sense become normal to us. It begs the question, has the world gone mad or have we? Growing up can be a difficult and confusing experience for all. As we grow older and realize the world is more than what is right in front of us. We ask questions to try and make sense of the world as we grow from the simplicity of childhood to the complications of adulthood. As we mature, our perceptions of the world change drastically. A child s closed off world view is challenged as he begins to ask questions and explore. What seemed simple before is much more intricate now. The use of nonsensein both Carroll s Jabberwockyand Lear s limericks from The Book of Nonsense force us to challenge nonsensical situations so we can grow and adjust to the harsh realities of our world by realizing that things are not always what they seem. Both authors do this effectively through the absence of meaning and the use of juxtaposition. The absence of meaning in both Carroll and Lear s poems is significant, even though it may seem like the opposite. When reading these poems for the first time, the reader may be ... The Road By Cormac Mccarthy, Ray Bradbury, And 1984 Dystopian fiction is an alternate society characterized by a focus on that which is contrary to the author s ethos, portraying it as mass poverty, public mistrust, police state, or oppression. This genre was chosen because it allows for readers to feel better and thankful for our society s current state. The works that I used to investigate this genre were The Road by Cormac McCarthy, Fahrenheit 451by Ray Bradbury, and 1984 by George Orwell. All of these books are categorized in the dystopian genre but have very different symbols, styles, and implications. Each of these novels have different styles because some include a society with overbearing rules, such as Fahrenheit 451 and 1984, whereas The Road has virtually no society. Despite their differences, the purpose of these novels is to demonstrate that the only thing strong enough to conquer a corrupt and inhumane society is through true love and passion. Dystopian fiction first came about in the early 1900 s and is read by many as political warnings. Many authors of dystopian fiction explore at least one reason why things are the way the are in the novel, which is used as an analogy for similar issues in the real world. One of the first well known dystopian novels was We written by Yevgeny Zamyatin in 1921. It predicted a post apocalyptic future in which society is entirely based on logic and modeled after mechanical systems. Our world is changing fast and, as such, organizations must change quickly too. Organizations that handle change well thrive, whilst those that do not may struggle to survive. The concept of change management is a familiar one in most businesses today. In order to accept the change and contribute to making the change successful, people need to understand how the changes will benefit them. Not everyone will fall in line just because the change is necessary and will benefit the company. This is a common assumption and pitfall that should be avoided. Tip: Unfortunately, some people will genuinely be harmed by change, particularly those who benefit strongly from the status quo. Others may take a long time to recognize the benefits that change brings. You need to foresee and manage these situations. Time and communication are the two keys to success for the changes to occur. People need time to understand the changes and they also need to feel highly connected to the organization throughout the transition period. When you are managing change, this can require a great deal of time and effort and hands on management is usually the best approach. Refreeze When the changes are taking shape and people have embraced the new ways of working, the organization is ready to refreeze. The outward signs of the refreeze are a stable organization chart, consistent job descriptions, and so on. The refreeze stage also needs to help people and the organization internalize or institutionalize the changes. This means making sure that the changes are used all the time; and that they are incorporated into everyday business.
