Privilege In Healthcare
Healthcare, is it a right or a privilege? The US seems to believe it is a privilege meanwhile, the
UK would believe it is a right. Based on these two outlooks within the different countries who has
a more economically stable healthcare system? The UK government might not have enough
money to educate citizens wanting to be practitioners so this makes the current practitioners in the
field only have so much time to see patients, resulting in longer wait times. Money, time and the
lack of UK citizens wanting to become doctors and keep their practice in the UK is scarce. The
population in the US can generally be categorized into 3 seperate economic differences. Low

Economically universal health care is the way to go, here s why. The US pays substantially
more money for average health care and the UK pays a decent amount with healthy citizens to
back their system. In the UK prices on health care will never go up, desperately needed
operations will always be covered and no one gets penalized for not having insurance. In the US
you have to ask yourself what you can afford right now rather than what you actually need. Some
US citizens would rather pay a penalizing fee for not having insurance which affects the economy
s ability to treat people. When US doctors feel the sharp sting of having fewer patients because
they can t pay their premium it affects their ability to provide the equipment necessary to
determine origins of pain. Universal healthcare in the UK causes a stable economy from steady
taxes. US citizens who don t pay for healthcare not only cause dips in the economy but also run the

WORLD PEACE amp; SECURITY
WORLD PEACE
World peace is an ideal of freedom, peace, and happiness among and within all nations and/or
people. World peace is an idea of planetary non violence by which nations willingly cooperate,
either voluntarily or by virtue of a system of governance that prevents warfare. The term is
sometimes used to refer to a cessation of all hostility among all individuals. For example, World
Peace could be crossing boundaries via human rights, technology, education, engineering, medicine,
diplomats and/or an end to all forms of fighting.
Possibility
While world peace is theoretically possible, some believe that human nature inherently prevents

Neuromancer By William Gibson, The Technology And Violence
In the book Neuromancer by William Gibson, the technology and violence shown by the people
and AI demonstrate that with the progression and evolution of technology, the cruel nature of
humans progresses and evolves with it, and vise versa. This shows that we should be weary and
careful of letting our technologies evolve too fast until we depend on technology too much for
bettering our lives and get controlled by AI s for their own interests. Neuromancer is set in the
distant future where technology has evolved greatly and humankind has even used it to modify our
bodies senses, strength, and mobility. Characters like Molly even explained that she had

at the embalmed animal and shook his head. It was displayed on a sort pedestal, near the
entrance to a place that sold birds and monkeys. The thing s legs had been worn black and

killed off most of the animals on Earth and modified people s appearances and abilities, it also
needed violence in order to progress. This is shown by one of Case s thoughts: But he also saw a
certain sense in the notion that burgeoning technologies require outlaw zones, that Night City wasn

Wrestling As A Social Phenomenon
Professional Wrestling is a world renowned topic that has universally shaped the lives of many
individuals around the world. There is no denying that professional wrestling is firmly
entrenched as a part of modern culture. Wrestling has become a multimillion dollar industry with
a very long history dating back hundreds of years. I have decided to write about and discuss the
lack of explanation sociologists have when describing wrestling as a social phenomenon. The
reason I have decided to write about this topic is because as a child I was fascinated by pro
wrestling, more specifically, World Wrestling Entertainment
(WWE). I feel that wrestling has played
an important role in my development socially, emotionally, and physically. To begin, it is important
to understand that wrestling is above and beyond a spectacle as described by Roland Barthes.
Wrestling is an investment in one s self. It is an accumulation of countless hours spent on the
wrestling mat, in the gym, and in the studio. It is a display of hegemonic masculinity to its highest
degree, wrestlers understand this. Professional Wrestlers understand that the nature of the sport is
tough, unforgiving, and requires a superhero attitude. The common goals shared amongst the
wrestling culture have a distinct impact on how wrestlers identify themselves to society. Socially,
wrestling has not been analyzed as closely as it should be. Subconsciously, individuals who attend
or express an interest in professional

A Plan For Reducing Poverty Through Debt Forgiveness
In 1995 James Wolfensohn was appointed president of the World Bank. With this new opportunity
he designed a plan in hopes of reducing poverty through debt forgiveness. The plan was called the
highly indebted poor countries (HIPC) initiative Countries would be eligible for this plan if they
had unsustainable debt, debt ranging from 200 250% of their export earnings. The first stage of
HIPC involved a structural adjustment for 3 years until the Decision Point was reached, if the debt
was still unsustainable there would be a 67% cancellation. The country would then enter stage two
which included another 3 years of adjustment until the completion point, 80% debt reduction and
debt owed to the IMF would be cancelled by taking out of the HIPC... Show more content on

In 2001 Ghana began the process in hopes of qualifying for the highly indebted poor countries
(HIPC) relief initiative in hopes of gaining financial commitment to the Ghana Poverty reduction
Strategy (GPRS). The goal of the GPRS and HIPC was to increase food security and income as
well as welfare needs such as health, education, and water. Ghana s economy at the time was
dealing with high inflation, and declining exchange rate. The HIPC initiative aims to reduce the
NPV or net present value of external debt to a maximum 150% exports or, for small open
economies, to 250% of government revenue at the time of HIPC completion point (Afoom, N
2011). The main problem most countries seem to face with regards to HIPC is whether or not debt
sustainability is achievable when it comes to low income countries.
While the original HIPC initiative was quite successful in relieving debt and reaching Ghana s
completion point, the enhanced HIPC is believed to be what will keep them from falling back into
where they started. The enhanced HIPC initiative was born during the G summit in Cologne,
Germany in 1999. The initiative not only helps develop the country but also puts into place
strategies that can be clearly used to reduce poverty. Funding for the initiative comes from two
types of creditors; bilateral and commercial, and multilateral creditors. With the new enhanced
HIPC initiative came new components and policies. The enhanced HIPC

Director: Theodore Melfi
Synopsis: Hidden Figures is an American biographical drama based on true story nonfiction book
with same title written by Margot Lee Shetterly. It is about how the black female mathematicians,
during the segregation period of American History, helped NASA(National Aeronautics and Space
Administration) to launch successful space missions despite the racist work environment.
Review:
Theodore Melfi, a young writer director along with writer Allison Schroeder, brings a great true
untold story of three unknown African Americanwomen, Katherine Goble, Mary Jackson, and
Dorothy Vaughan, to life played by some great talents along with great actors like Kevin Costner.

Rabbit Proof Fence Film Analysis
Rabbit Proof Fence, originally written by Doris Pilkington Garimara in 1996, is a true story,
which was adapted into a movie in 2002 by Phillip Noyce. The film captures the adventures of
three Aboriginal girls (Molly, 14, Daisy, 8, and Gracie, 10), who escape from an English
settlement school after being forcibly taken from their home in Jigalong. The director positions
viewers to feel negatively toward the issue of cultural destructiveness through the application of
three main conventions. These conventions include characterization, camera angles, and setting.
Characterisation is a key convention in the development of the way in which the character will
be observed by the audience, as well as camera angles and setting. A.O. Neville, Chief Protector
of Aborigines, is a strong example in this point as his character was built up to be powerful. For
instance, when A.O. Neville was seated at his desk, in his office, the camera was angled to look up
at him. The setting of his costly office in addition to the low camera angle positions spectators to
see him as a dominant person. Through the use of characterisation, Noyce has positioned the
audience to respond empathetically towards the three girls during the time of their confinement.
The film s antagonist, A.O. Neville is characterized to represent a central theme in the issue of
cultural destructiveness. This can be proven in a variety of segments within the movie; for instance,
A.O. Neville can be seen to have good intentions

Poetry Analysis of Introduction to Poetry
Poetry analysis of Introduction to Poetry
The Poem Introduction to Poetry is by Billy Collins, an English poet, and it is about how teachers
often force students to over analyze poetry and to try decipher every possible meaning portrayed
throughout the poem rather than allowing the students to form their own interpretation of the poem
based on their own experiences.
Throughout the poem, a number of literary devices are used. For example: or press an ear
against its hive . Using this metaphor, Billy Collins is comparing the body of a poem to the hive
of a bee. The hive of a bee appears to be something dangerous and unknown, just like a new poem,
never before seen, with which one is unfamiliar. Using this metaphor, Billy Collins is... Show more

This is an effective metaphor as water skiing brings about a great sense of joy and is fun, just as
reading a poem in Billy Collins opinion should be.
The use of onomatopoeic devices and onomatopoeic words are abundant in this poem. For
instance, I say drop a mouse into a poem is a line whereby the word drop , a very onomatopoeic
word, effectively suggests that the reader of a poem must gently analyze a poem. This is portrayed
through the gentle p sound of the word and this is therefore effective as the reader gets a sense of
the gentleness Billy Collins wishes his readers had when it comes to analyzing poetry.
The fact that enjambment is used throughout the poem such as in the lines, like a colour slide or
press an ear against its hive portrays a lack of structure and therefore emphasizes the initial
enjoyment one feels when reading a poem before the chore of analyzing it begins. This is also
emphasized through the fact that the poem is a free verse poem.
The poem suddenly becomes much darker in the last stanza and a Billy Collins explains how
teachers, students or general readers of poetry torture a poem by being what he believes is
cruelly analytical. He says, all they want to do is tie the poem to a chair with rope and torture a
confession out of it . Here, the poem is being personified yet again and this brings about an almost
human connection between the reader and the poem. This use of personification is effective as it
makes the

2.2 The role of the Government and Open Door Policy
Deng Xiaoping set in prepare the change of China s economy when he declared a new Open Door
Policy in December 1978. Mr. Deng understood that China required Western technology, innovation
and investment, therefore he opened the path for outside organisations who needed to set up in
China (News.bbc.co.uk, n.d.). At first, four Special Economic Zones (SEZs) were farmed in South
China with tax incentives to draw in outside speculation into the nation.
As the nation is a developing economy, the government has to play a critical role to guide and
control the nation (Nove and Gerschenkron, 1963). For instance, the part of government in
enhancing general financial and social welfare ought not be expelled or belittled, even in
developed, mature economies (Reich, 1989). Developing markets are countries that are investing
in more productive capacity. They are moving far from their conventional economies that have
depended on agribusiness and the export of raw materials. Leaders of developing countries want to
create a better quality of life for the citizens. Subsequently, they are rapidly industrialising and
embracing a free market or mixed economy (Amadeo, 2016). Developing economies frequently
seek to restructure their economies along market oriented lines and offer a wealth of opportunities
in trade, technology transfers, and FDI (Heakal, 2015). Emerging markets are important because

Swot Analysis Of Westjet Airlines
Situation Analysis
Introduction
WestJet Airlines is a Canadian airline that differentiates itself with their low cost flights and
exceptional customer service. The company s philosophy is just because you pay less for a flight,
doesn t mean you should get less. WestJet has been growing rapidly since 1996, however, they
believe in growing responsibly by being cautious of their environmental and community impact (
About us , n.d.). As WestJet has a strong presence locally, our analysis will mainly focus on WestJet
s domestic segment.

annual growth rate of 4.9% from 2012 2016. Within the industry, the domestic segment makes up

The large difference of ASMs is largely attributed to the fact that Air Canadafocuses on both
domestic and international flights while WestJet mainly focuses on domestic flights. This means
while Air Canada may fly more kilometers than WestJet, the two companies are not so far off from
each other when it comes to gaining customers (Statistics Canada, 2016). WestJet s differentiating
point is their price competitive nature. As a low cost carrier the company values offering guests the
same experience they may receive at higher priced airlines. Air Canada has, however, also began
operating a low cost segment back in 2013 called Air Canada Rouge. WestJet is now looking to
launch an ultra low cost segment, WestJet Swoop in June 2018, targeting guests who are mainly
concerned about getting from one location to another and less concerned about flexibility and
convenience (Dormer, 2017).
Customers WestJet s low cost pricing advantage mainly attracts price sensitive consumers within
the middle to upper middle class. These are individuals who can t afford the more luxurious flights
and/or those who are just looking for a cheap but comfortable ride to their next destination.
Travelers can conveniently purchase airfare through WestJet s website directly, through global
travel websites (i.e. Expedia, Trivago), or through travel agencies. Within the airline industry, the
main concern of consumers is the price as many airlines already offer similar features

The Cause And Effects Of The Bystander Effects
When there is an emergency, why is taking out our phones to take a picture or video the very
first thing we want to do? Why do we casually walk by a person who is in trouble, and go about
our business as if we did not anyone? Why do we not help or act when someone is getting, but
instead we just stand in a crowd and watch? Why do we bury our moral instincts during
emergencies? We witness a problem, consider positive action, and respond by doing nothing. Why
do we not help in these situations and put our moral instincts in shackles (Keltner Marsh, 2017).
We as people are bystanders to the world around us daily, but the question is why? The answer to
all the why questions is the bystander effect.
The bystander effect is a social psychological scenario where a person who is in an urgent
situation is not given any help by the people around due to the discourage from the presence of
others (whatispsychology.biz, 2017). Social psychologists, John Darley and Bibb Latane,
introduced the bystander effect in the 1960s after the murder of Kitty Genovese, a young woman
who was stabbed to death outside her home in New York City. It took her attacker more than half
an hour to kill her, and during that time, thirty eight people saw her being murdered, and they did
nothing to help her. The responsibility for helping was diffused among the observers (Darley
Latane, 1968).
Psychologists state diffusion of responsibility is one of the main blames for the bystander effect

Practice of ICT for Effective Implementation of Internal Control System and Internal Audit in the
Context of Nepalese NGOs
Introduction:
The technologies used in information and communication systems have changed operational
mechanism of the NGOs. Technology has shown its impact on the internal control system and
internal audit in the NGOs. The use of ICT as tool of internal control could be effective to identify
fraudulent transactions [2]. The study focus to explore the practices of ICT on the effective
implementation of internal control systems and its implication on internal audit of Nepalese NGO
sector.
Literature Review:
The limited studies have been done on the study on ICT practices for internal control and internal
audit in the country, and not been carried out in the context Nepalese NGOs. A sound ICT system
provides a sure and guarantee medium of financial information delivery that covers the entire
accounting cycle of the NGOs [1]. The literature shows that the proper management reporting
system needs suitable information technology system [17].
Existing context of NGOs working in Nepal:
NGOs started operation in Nepal after 1950. Since then they are playing an increasingly important
role in public service by helping to execute to the policies in Nepal. Social Welfare Council (SWC)

My Personal Values
Throughout our lifetime, us as people decide to admire different objects, ideas, and people due to
what pleases their thoughts and actions. The infinite examples of things we could ve valued could
ve been toys, friends, book, etc.. But then we began to mature and begin to come out of our little
shells to discover new products, views of the world, and new ways to advance in our technology
and therefore influencing what we valuetoday. And as I matured in my lifetime, I established a
novel value to my parents the greatest.
My parents are currently the greatest influence on both me and my life. They ve taught me
manner, how to read, write, how to count, etc.. My parents are outstanding, both have jobs, and
have gone college. Not only that, but I express a lot of love and respect toward them for
influencing my good behaviors and actions in my lifetime. However my parents are both divorced,
but that makes me want to value both of them more than ever. But that doesn t stop me from
valuing them. In fact, I have to value both of them even more. For one, my mother is an Assistant
Principal at Perez Elementary while my father is a sheriff for Webb county. I really have to show
respect for my mother because she is very stressed out from work and me being in band, but the
strictness she shows teaches me how to be a firm person about life and how to be humble.

The Battle Of The Punic Wars

THE PUNIC WARS
During the 3rd and 2nd centuries B.C., three wars were fought between Rome and Carthage. The
name given to describe the wars Punic, is a divided word from the Latin and Greek words for
Phoenician. The city of Carthage, situated in what is now Tunisia in North Africa, was founded in
814 B.C. by the Phoenicians. The first two wars were the longest 23 years and 17 years, separated
by an interval of 23 years. The last and third war lasted only three years. It started 52 years after
the end of the second Punic War. All three wars were won by Rome, which automatically emerged
as the greatest military power in the Mediterranean Sea. The hostility of Carthage impelled
Rome to build up its large army and create a strong navy just like the one Carthage had. Strong
military leaders of the war for Carthage and his sons Hasdrubal and Hannibal. Rome s
outstanding leaders were Scipio Africanus. Belief holds that Phoenician settlers from the
Mediterranean port of Tyre discovered the city state of Carthage on the northern coast of Africa.
By 265 B.C., Carthage was the richest and the most advanced city in the region, as well as its
prominent naval power. Through Carthage had clashed forcefully with several other powers in the
region, notably Greece, its relations with Rome were historically friendly, and its cities had signed
several treaties defining trading rights over the years. By 275 B.C. Rome had brought

Canada Renewable Energy Case Study
2.2 The wrong definition of the market and the creation of the market
2.21 A brief introduction of Canada Renewable Energy/FIT In Canada Renewable Energy/FIT, the
AB made several innovations which were criticized by commentators. The argument started from
the provision of FIT system by the government of the Canadian Province of Ontario. The province
of Ontario provided a feed in tariff program to the renewable energy (wind and solar energy)
producers which compromised 20 year price guarantee. Then, the Panel and the AB were required
to determine whether the province of Ontario conferred advantages on the renewable energy
producers. It was the responsibility for the complainants (Japan and Europe) to prove that the
actions of the province ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To be specific, the AB stated even if the demand side factors suggested that the definition of the
market should be a single electricity market, regardless of its sources, the supply side elements also
implied that the renewable energy market created by the government should be the market
benchmark which should be distinguished from the regular energy market. As stated above, it is
clear that the theories of supply side and demand side were in the equal position. Therefore, there
was not enough evidence for the AB to abandon the theory of demand side . As these two theories
were in the equal position, the consumers views should be worth referring to. To be specific, the
Panel found that the consumers do not distinguish electricity on the basis of generation
technologies, prices and usage. Furthermore, the AB also expressed the same opinion, saying
electricity is identical and there is high demand substitutability between electricity through various
technologies. Obviously, the consumers did not care about the electricity generation sources. In
sum, according to the EU experiences and the attitudes of the consumers, the definition of the
market should not be confined to a renewable energy market, instead, a broader wholesale
electricity market should be the appropriate benchmark. If the renewable energy market is adopted
to measure subsidies,

There is a grammar and literacy to each of these forms of communication. Bombarded with a wide
variety of images regularly, students need sharp visual interpretation skills to interact with the
media analytically. Each form of communication has its own rules and grammar and should be
taught in ways that lead students to be more specific and concise in communicating (Edutopia).
So remediating a text through a different tool ultimately will change the way it is communicated to
its audience. For example, imagine the oratory medium that Tupac used to convey his hit song,
Changes was instead only a written form of the lyrics. This traditional technology would not only
affect the message behind the song but the audience s acceptance of it. The second way I have
communicated this song is visually. I have constructed a collage of what I thought the song was
trying to convey. This leaves area for the original message to be interpreted differently among each
individual and losing sight of the originality of it. Although these mediums are proper for some
texts, I think that Tupac choose the correct form, auditory to communicate his message. I began my

Extinction Of The Dinosaurs
The mass extinction of the Cretaceous period
The debate over what happened to the dinosaurs have been one of the most controversial research
topics in history. One minute, the earth was blooming with countless trees and a healthy
environment, then, in the period of seconds, all life on earth was wiped out, creating a mass
extinction across the globe (Bond, 2017). Discovering what ended the cretaceous period has been a
major priority in the scientific world, however, with enough modern day research, scientists have
nailed the extinction of the Dinosaurs down to two major theories; the asteroid impact theory, and
the volcanic eruption theory, both being extremely alike.
As research has been undertaken, scientists have evaluated all possible theories, distinguishing that
there are two major possibilities; the volcano theory and the asteroid impact theory. Both theories
are highly comparable, yet both have distinguishing qualities that indicate their differences. The
Volcano theory, affecting the wide spread area of India has been proven as a major factor to the
discovery of why the dinosaurs became extinct. Research indicates that 65 million years ago,
monstrous lava beds called Deccan traps covered the surface of the earth, over an area of 500 000

Each lava bed released unimaginable amounts of noxious gases, leading to a block of sunlight in
the atmosphere, resulting in all plant life on earth dying out. As a result of all plants having

Lake Forest College Essay
Lake Forest University, an integrated community, consisting of various races was later renamed
Lake Forest College. Founded in 1857, this liberal arts college was established by Presbyterian
ministers and leaders who were also involved in the designs of most of the campus buildings
standing today. Campus buildings such as the Deerpath Hall, a residence hall, and the still in
process Lillard Science Center are what contribute to the representation of this private institution.
The Deerpath Hall was made in 1956 by architect Naess and Murphy and was later renovated in
1999 2000 by Solomon Cordwell (Lakeforest.edu). The Lillard center, however, who is still being

It is after close examination of both the Lillard Center and the Deerpath Hall, that the viewer can
realize the presence of gravity defying elements present in both structures. Even though these
elements do not enhance each building s own function, it does, however, act as an ornament to the
overall design that attracts viewers attention. To portray this idea, the Deerpath Hall front structure
displays an illusion of even flatness in the building s main front wall. This is created by the top,
front section of the building s wall being indented inwards and thus, creating a hollow space. To
then create a sense of flatness, a small portion of its roof hovers over the indented part of the wall
in such a way that the illusion is formed. Not only does this added ornament conveyed a sense of
awe in the viewer, but also demonstrates the college s in this century attempt to portray a sense of
the future through the incorporation of modern elements present in architecture during this time
period. The used of modern architectural elements such as transparent glass present in the front
of the building as well as around it creates a sense of openness to the viewer as well as helps
portray the environment s ability to be open minded. Moreover, instead of the Lillard Center
having a gable roof such as the one in Deerpath Hall, Lillard s rooftop is flat. The building s

Canadian-American Relations Essay
As Lester B. Pearson once said Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. Politics may create
disagreements and conflict between two countries, but it can also affect countries relations. When
Canadian Prime Minister Diefenbaker refused to accept American warheads it has set back
Canadian and American relations. However In many ways we still help each other out. Canada

Secondly, closer ties to America helped us form a culture we know to this day. American media

joy was aggravated by the Avro Arrow , Canadian aviation talent went to America and helped with
the man landing on the moon. This influenced Hollywood to dedicate movies and T.V shows.
Some of Canadian actresses and actors stared in the playing of Hollywood shows and movies,

Genetically Modified Organism ( Gmo )
According to Brock Biology of Microorganisms, a genetically modified organism (GMO) is an
organism whose genome have been altered using genetic engineering (Madigan, Martinko, Bender,
Buckley, and Stahl, 2014). GM products include crops and animals, such as soy, cottonseed, alfalfa,
papaya, canola, and sugar beets. Throughout the years there has been arguments about the safety of
consuming GM products. Some countries believe that GMOs are not safe to consume while other
countries believe that they are safe to consume. More than 60 countries around the world, including
Australia, Japan, and all of the countries in the European Union, have restriction or bans the
production and sale of GM products. However, in the U.S. GM products have been... Show more

The nine high risk GM products are alfalfa, canola, corn, cotton, papaya, soy, sugar beets,
zucchini, and yellow summer squash. On the other hand, there is monitored risk of production,
which means that there is a suspected or known contamination of GMOs being added to the
crops. The eight monitored risk crops are beta vulgaris (chard, table beets), brassica napa
(rutabaga, Siberian kale), brassica rapa (bok choy, mizuna, Chinese cabbage, turnip, rapini, tatsoi),
cucurbita (acorn squash, delicata squash, patty pan), flax, rice, wheat, potatoes. Nonetheless, crops
aren t the only organisms that have GMOs. GMOs are also being added into animals, however,
these modifications were unsuccessful and terminated. The first example was GMOs being added
to salmon. On November 19, 2015 the FDA had approved to genetically modify AquAdvantage
salmon. The salmon was safe for human consumption, but two months after the approval the FDA
banned the production of the fish due to the Congress forbidding the sale of GM salmon. Another
example of GMOs being added are to pigs. Enviropig was a genetically engineered pig that was
developed by scientists at the University of Guelph. In 2009, the government approved the
production of the pigs, however, in 2012 the University announced the termination of the Enviropig
program, therefore euthanizing the pigs that had already been

The Are A Blessing For Me
Antidepessants are a blessing for me. I have been taking an antidepressant for 16 years, and have
no bad side effects. My problem was caused mostly by a lack of seratonin and some events that
were occuring in my life. The major event was the fact that my daughter had terminal cancer, and
the doctors had given up on her. This news about my daughter s illness actually helped me to find
out I was depressed. I can call this a blessing also because she miraculously recovered from the
cancer eventually. As I look back over my life, I recall incidents that possibly proved I may have
been depressed for most of my younger years. I remember days when I felt down and wanted to

There is also a problem of some stigma that exists concerning mental illness treatment. Many
people find themselves seeking mental health help at some time in their lives, thus, it is much
easier for them to understand and recognize the causes of mental illness than in the past. I have
never felt awkward or even considered anyone thinking of a stigma in this regard; so I talk openly
about my condition without fear. In speaking out about depression and antidepressants, I hope to
help others who are plagued by this trauma.
With an estimated 9.3% of Americans currently living with major depression or bipolar disorder,
according to the NIMH, the safety of antidepressant drugs is at the forefront of many
pharmaceutical discussions. At present, the most common drugs used to treat the debilitating
lethargy, anxiety, and fatigue often associated with major depression fall into three key categories
based upon mechanism of action: SSRIs, Tricyclics, and MAOIs. Since major depression and
bipolar disorder are characterized by imbalances of certain chemicals within the brain, prescription
medications are often the best way of relieving the symptoms of these disorders. As with any
medication, antidepressants carry risks of side effects, which usually relate to the drug s mechanism
of action, dosage levels, and the chemical composition of individual drugs. SSRIs Selective

The Service And The Joint Force
The Services and the Joint Force share the responsibility in ensuring that mission command is a
common attribute of our Profession of Arms. Our collective efforts must institutionalize mission
command by adopting and formalizing the character traits that enable a bias for action and
responsible initiative at all levels of the force. General Martin E. Dempsey, April 2012
INTRODUCTION Since the beginning of our nation and the development and expansion of the
services that defend it, we have faced a myriad of complex issues: shrinking force structures, global
security concerns, and fiscal constraints to name a few. From George Washington s Continental
Army, which evolved into the current Joint Force operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, we are faced
with increasing complexity of the operating environment. This heightened complexity and ever
shrinking available assets to satisfy these requirements, are the very reason that all commanders at
all levels need to find innovative ways to increase operational efficiency in addition to lowering
fiscal and asset demands. This new operating environment has also driven the Army Reserve to
transform from a traditional strategic force to an operational force. Joint Publication 3 0 states that
Successful mission command demands that subordinate leaders at all echelons exercise disciplined

Dracula Expository Essay
Expository Essay
Mary Arnold
For centuries, vampires have been depicted in various cultures and throughout literary history as
both bloodsuckers and vampire lovers. A good example is they ve been portrayed as both
monsters, comedic villains, and romantic figures. The film industry has represented many
incarnations of vampires on the big screen for decades. Let s begin with the first vampire film,
Nosferatu (monster), up to the latest vampire film, Twilight (lover).
Along came, Nosferatu, an unofficial adaption of Bram Stoker s Dracula, and the first ever vampire
film released. Because the German studio, in charge of the film, could not obtain rights to the
novel from Stoker s widow, Florence Stoker, many elements of the respected novel were altered to
avoid plagiarism, including names and omitting characters. Dracula, for instance, became Count
Orlok , and unlike Stoker s vampire, the creature in Nosferatu is horrendously repellant: its bald

Summary Of John Locke s Second Treatise Of Civil Government
John Locke: Second Treatise of Civil Government 1.John Locke s Second Treatise of Civil
Government was first published in 1690. In 1688, the Glorious Revolution came over England.
King James II was overthrown, and King William and Queen Mary were brought to England with
the help of the Whigs, with whom Locke had very strong connections. Locke chose to attack the
idea of absolute monarchy, and supported the idea of overthrowing an unappreciated ruler, e.g. the
events of the Glorious Revolution. 2.Locke refers to the laws of nature as the first government of
the human race, in its basest and original form: [W]e must consider what estate all men are

The social contract is the idea that man gives up his rights and himself to the community, where
all men will be equal. This is beneficial to society in that no one will want to make the group state
worse for every member, Rousseau says. Additionally, every member of the societal body will
wish to aid the others, as they are able to move as one. An offense to one member of the body is
now an offense to all members. 4.Rousseau seems to not really believe in the sustainability of
individualism. His social contract demands that all follow along with the general will, no matter
what they personally believe. In fact, he says any man who separates from the general will shall
be forced to go along with what is best for the society. 5.Rousseau explains that direct democracy
is the only true form of appropriate government. He argues that the will of the people cannot be
represented, or it will be corrupted, and only by direct vote and ratification by the people can
laws be valid and acceptable, as they are truly the will of the people. Representative democracy is
unacceptable, because those appointed to work for the people cannot adequately represent them, as
they are different people. 6.Both Rousseau and Locke seem to agree that the basic purpose of any
government is to protect the people within it and enforce their will. They agree that a government
has no foundation if it is not supported by the people it

Some terms Golden uses are misleading and divert from the original meaning of the terms used
in geisha culture. Golden misuses the cultural context of water. In Iwasaki s autobiography, she

Ochobo symbolizes the breast and is given to people in Gion to pay respects and say

Golden changes his view and romanticises a fictional account while portraying Sayuri as a
prostitute. He distorts the image of a highly recognized profession in Japan aligning it to
American conceptions of prostitutes. After examining bias through Said s definition of
orientalism, it is clear that Golden portrays a particular bias towards the geisha culture. Even
after WWII, the understanding of the geisha culture is incomplete and mysterious, as only very
few people pursue this profession. Therefore, the geisha s life is depicted differently from what
Japanese people would believe geishas are. Through his portrayal of geishas as sex objects rather
than entertainers, and the sexualization of the blood and water motifs, Golden misuses terms to
bring out his beliefs of the Japanese culture. Since Memoirs of a Geisha is a fictional novel, he
uses the opportunity to manipulate how Westerners view the geisha culture. In the end, Golden s
bias towards the geisha culture is prominent throughout the novel in his portrayal of Sayuri. Arthur

The Importance Of Love In Romeo And Juliet
Now many would call Romeo and Juliet the play that teaches us that love, at first sight, is real.
While reading this play the only thing the audience will be able to understand from this story is
that love holds no bounds, that some love is forever. In class, we came to the conclusion that
this play is about immature, naive, stubborn kids who do not understand the concept of what
real love is. Their demised stemmed from a fast paced relationship which bloomed from
rejection. Stupidity, naivety, stubbornness, and immaturity are all traits that may be used to
describe Romeo Montague. Now, these traits shaped Romeo to be the most irresponsible guy
ever which lead him and his supposed love to their demise. Now it is not to be said that Juliet
was not at fault, on the contrary, she is also to blame for their demise because the traits Romeo
has she seems to have too. Most of these ideas seem pretty petty for older people, which is why
it weighs so heavy on them, they are children, if they would have waited to even commence their
relationship they would have outgrown most of these traits and their demise may have been
avoided altogether. At the beginning of the play, we see Romeo carry the same feelings that he
expresses for Juliet for someone else. Before there was Juliet in Romeo s life there was Rosaline,
another Capulet. If you see how Romeo expresses his feelings for Rosaline, you can see that it is
the same way he later expresses them for Juliet. An example of this would be

How Doctor Die By Ken Murry
In How Doctor Die, Ken Murry explains the choice of doctors when they have a terminal illness.
From the beginning, Ken gives an example of an orthopedist who was diagnosed with stomach
cancer. He quit his job and spent the rest of his day with his family. A doctor is a person who
treats disease and saves patients; however, when they have an illness, they are also like other
patients. They meet difficult situations with their patients but also feel for them. They tend to be
fair because they know about medicine and its limits. They do not wantto die. Surely, each doctor
has the preparation for death, and they want to find a way to die in peace. On the other hand, some
patients try to find a method to overcome their illness although they have to bear pain. What I take
from Murray s essay is that patients have a right to chose how they die . Every one dies,
eventually, but I agree with Murray that the choice needs to be an informed decision. According to
Murray, some patients fight death, they use drugs, chemotherpy, radiation, surgical, or CPR. They
believe that they can overcome their illness. Doctors recommend that people who can not be saved
with treatment should just live their life with their family, enjoying the rest of their days. Therefore,
the doctors have to know what is best for their patients. They should have treatment. When the
patients spend a lot of money, this is not the way to overcome illness. For example, there was a

The Future Of The Liberal World Order
In his article, The Future of the Liberal World Order , John Inkenberry discusses what he sees as
a global shift in power, from the Western and Northern powers such as the United States and
Great Britain to the more Eastern and Southern developing states like China, India and Brazil.
This potential shift in power has sparked a fear in many people. This fear, as the global power
switches from West to East and North to South, stems from the thinking that these new nations that
are coming to power will abolish the liberal world order that we all know. I however believe that
instead of challenging the United Statesfor power and changing the world order to more reflect
their ideologies, these emerging nations will instead seek a greater position of leadership in the
already existing world order. Firstly, I will provide an argument of Inkenberry s main arguments
and why realists have started to worry. Second, I will show how China is rising to threaten the
United States superpower position in today s world order, and finally I will illustrate ways which
show that China is not challenging the Liberal World Order and why. Since the end of World War
II the United States has been the leader in shaping world order built and organized around liberal

The uses of imagery offer an opportunity for readers to have a clear sense of how harsh the
working condition of working poor is and arouse the sympathy of the readers which is further
aroused when Ehrenreich writes about the intense work of workers.
To emphasize the hard work and busy working schedules of poor workers, Ehrenreich builds up
his urgent tone in the sixth paragraph. When describing the attitude of workers towards their
work, Ehrenreich states that the only thing to do is to treat each shift as a one time only
emergency: you ve got fifty starving people out there, lying scattered on the battlefield, so get out
there and feed them (396). She uses the words one time only emergency to give readers a sense of
emergency by highlighting the unavoidability and time limited of their works and uses words
starving and lying to point out the impatience of customers, building up a tense atmosphere. Then
Ehrenreich uses the second person pronoun you when she refers to workers to add pressure on
readers by bringing readers to their circumstances. Furthermore, when Ehrenreich writes about the
working state, she uses the word burn for three times repetitively, which vividly compares the busy

Social Media Marketing Communication Marketing
Social Media Marketing Communication
Overview
As seen in product marketing, successful marketing requires organizations to think outside of the
box and find new ways to communicate to their consumers. The majority of consumers utilize social
media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube; organizations must exploit their
marketing techniques on these sites in order to maximize their advertising range (Adis, Ing,
Osman, Razli, Pang, Sondoh, Majid, 2015). Not to mention, social media marketing has become
more popular because of its cost effectiveness and efficiency in reaching and engaging with
consumers (Castronovo Huang, 2012). For this reason, social networking is becoming a necessity,
according to St. Clergy (2012),
Nearly four in five active Internet users visit social networks and blogs...Americans spend more
time on Facebook than they do on any other U.S. website, and Internet users over 55 are driving the
growth of social networking through the mobile Internet. (St. Clergy, 2012, para. 2)
Known as the horizontal revolution, information no longer flows vertically from big companies to
the rest of the world, consumers have become marketing tools as well. Unfortunately, organizations
are unable to control the message that consumers are communicating (Bruce Solomon, 2013);
however, they can use social media to assure their audiences of the company s commitment to the
consumer s satisfaction.
Purpose
There are two types of marking communication used on

Milton Hershey Research Papers
Hershey factories are located around America and their diverse production of various candies
makes their company one of the most popular in the world. Milton Hershey, after many failures,
and successes went back to his hometown of Derry Church, Pennsylvania to create a factory that
could fulfil the large demand for chocolate (A Hasty History of Hersheys, 1 2). Years later there
would be factories across North America, and many fans of Hershey products.
There are Hershey factories all through North America, and one in South America. The factories are
located in Hershey, Pennsylvania, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Hazleton, Pennsylvania, Stuarts Draft,
Virginia, Robinson, Illinois, and Guadalajara Mexico. Each factory produces a different item ...

The beans are collected, cleaned, milled, and turned in chocolate liquor. The four main
ingredients in a Hershey s bar are chocolate liquor, cocoa butter, sugar and milk. The milk and
sugar are combined and dried until it has a thick taffy texture. Then chocolate liquor is mixed
with the sugar milk, and this mixture turns into a dark brown powder called chocolate crumb.
Cocoa butter gets added to the chocolate crumb, then the mixture is grinded through steel rollers
making it a smooth chocolate paste. The paste is poured into huge vats called conches, where
large granite rollers smooth out any gritty particles. Next the chocolate needs to be cooled so it
reaches the proper texture. Next the chocolate needs to be molded into the signature Hershey
shape. The molds are put onto a vibrating conveyer belt so the air bubbles are removed, and the
chocolate can settle. The bars are then sent through a cooling tunnel, where they are cooled until
solid. Then the bars are ready to be sent to wrapping (McGarry,1). Hershey produced many types of
chocolate, and non chocolate candies for people all over the world to enjoy. Their factories are
located all through America. The well produced famous Hershey Bar is why the company is so
popular today. Hershey has factories all over America and their diverse production of various
candies makes their company one of the most popular in the

Why Is George Not A Good Friend To Lennie
In life you have good friends and bad friends, which includes many types of friendships. An
example of friendship can be found in John Steinbeck s novella Of Mice and Men . The two main
characters George and Lennie seemed to have a good friendship. After reading and analyzing this
novella, I believe that George overall was not a good friend to Lennie.
George tells Lennie that if he was alone , life would be so easy. How do you tell your friend
that? Then he mentions how if he was alone , he could get a job and work with no trouble. He
talks about Lennie as if he was a bother. George also mentions how he could eat alone at any place
he wants, hotel or any place and order anything he could think of.
George is overall rude and constantly brings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is not caring for someone and also I think that the main reason he stayed with Lennie and
stuck by him was of pure guilt .George would also repeat how life would be easier if he was
alone and basically what he could do without Lennie. One key concept and evidence that George is
not a good friend to Lennie is that you do not under any circumstance kill your friend.
In conclusion, I believe that overall in the novella Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck ,George was
not a good friend to Lennie. George did take care of Lennie but,in my point of view, not because
he actually cared for Lennie.George never once mentions how he cares for Lennie or how much
he loves his companionship but does mention how easy life would be without him and if if they
were related he would kill himself .Yes George looked over him and stuck by him but in most
cases Lennie would have been better of being with someone

Death Of Innocence By Mamie Till- Mobley
Death of Innocence is a non fictional novel written by Mamie Till Mobley about the tragedy of
her son s brutal murder. Emmett Louis Till was born on July 25, 1941 to parents Louis Till, and
Mamie Till Mobley, Emmett was born breeched, and was going to endure multiple health
complications in his short fourteen years. Emmett wanted to visit family in Mississippi although
Mama and Mamie were very hesitant. They tried to educate Emmett the dangers of a black person
in the South. Emmett was born in Chicago, and was not aware of the type of racism blacks
endured in the South. Unfortunately, due to Emmett s heath complications when he started to
stutter Emmett would whistle. A black male whistling at a white woman during this time of age
was prohibited. Mamie educated Emmett before he left that he should not even walk on the same
side of the street as a white woman. Emmett apparently whistled at a white woman while in a
store. This led to white racists kidnapping him in the middle of the night and inhumanly murdered
Emmett on August 28, 1955. Mamie chose to have an open casket funeral for Emmett. Though it
was hard for her to turn her privacy of grieving the loss of her son, she chose to turn this into a
public issue. She became an activist for the black community and educated children and churches
on lynches. Emmett s death led to America s civil rights movement. Growing up in Chicago
Mamie did not experience as much racism as she would have in the South. When she was a little

My Childhood Experience
Everybody has grown up differently. Everybody has different stories, different memories, and
different hardships that have shaped who they are as a person. When most people think of their
childhood they think of family night board games. They think of running off to the park with their
best friends, laughing on swingsets and hopping scotch until they were out of breath. They have
memories of vacations, funny stories at familygatherings, or that one time they fell of their bike
and their dad carried them home and put on a bandaid and made all the pain go away.
When I think of my childhood, I think of two defining events fairly early on that will stick with
me forever. I think of the first time I found out we were finally going to Chuck E. ... Show more

Telling us how much he loved us and that he was just gonna spend the night at his parents house
for a while until our mom calmed down. My mom, Paxtin and I took an unexpected trip to Idaho
the next day to visit family . When we came home, all of my dad s stuff was gone.
In an instant, my life had changed. I have no memory of my mom and dad being together and being
happy. Just the terrible things that led up to their divorce. The fact that when I thought back to my
childhood and all I could remember were the sad and depressing moments made me turning to
photography. As soon as I got my 3rd generation iPod touch for Christmas in 2012, I was
obsessed with taking pictures. I would take pictures of anything that i found beauty in. I didn t
care that it wasn t the best quality or I didn t know the right angles. I knew I would learn and
upgrade and that in the meantime, I would document everything on my shitty iPod camera in
hopes to make up for all the lost memories. I would grow to use photography as a tool to cope with
a dreadful, fleeting childhood, emotionally hard times I went through, and my biggest fears in life.
In no way am I trying to say I had the worst childhood I possibly could ve had. Mixed with all the
bad was some good. Like flattening out cardboard boxes and sliding down a steep, dry, grass hill
because we wanted to go sledding in the middle of July. Or going on

In his book the frog and the Ox, Aesop states...
In his book the frog and the Ox, Aesop states Self conceit leads to self destruction meaning that
over bragging and exaggerating about yourself could be the cause of your self destruction in the
end. This quote could be best used in describing the situation that takes place in a Streetcar Named
Desire by Tennessee Williams. Many of Tennessee Williams work deals with the difference
between reality vs. perception and his play A Streetcar Named Desire was no exception. He
portrays Blanche Duboisas a sexually promiscuous, emotionally disturbed, fabricator who has to
continually revert back and forth between reality and the imaginary world she created. In her
attempts to escape reality Blanche exaggerates her status in society while subtly... Show more

This quote however is not just referring to the lies women tell it s also referring to the fact
women wear makeup and expensive clothing to appear beautiful and would never go out the
house bare faced which goes along with the false image they show. Dolores Moore author of
Fantasy or Reality a Streetcar Named Desire would argue that Blanche s washing, bathing, and
dressing up were all of her ways to perpetuate the pure southern fantasy. Her cloths were not good
quality ...but Blanche continued to try to maintain that fantasy of a beautiful, young, desirable
woman... Moore is further acknowledging the fact that despite Blanche knowing she s a liar there
is a subconscious part of her that believes that if she dresses up and make her appearance look
good she could give off the impression that she s living the ideal life.
As the play progresses we learn why Blanche was forced to leave Belle Reve. She explains that the
epic fortifications of her ancestors caused her financial loses. She then confesses that she caught
her husband having an affair with another man and in a drunken state confronted him which led to
him commenting suicide. After the death of her husband Blanche depended on the comfort of
alcohol and different men. Blanche was forced out of her reality and into her fantasy world by the
dark memories her past held. With her creating this imaginary world she was able to make

Based on these two outlooks within the different countries who has a more economically stable healthcare system? The UK government might not have enough money to educate citizens wanting to be practitioners so this makes the current practitioners in the field only have so much time to see patients, resulting in longer wait times. Money, time and the lack of UK citizens wanting to become doctors and keep their practice in the UK is scarce. In the US you have to ask yourself what you can afford right now rather than what you actually need. Some US citizens would rather pay a penalizing fee for not having insurance which affects the economy s ability to treat people. When US doctors feel the sharp sting of having fewer patients because they can t pay their premium it affects their ability to provide the equipment necessary to determine origins of pain. • 7. Wrestling As A Social Phenomenon Professional Wrestling is a world renowned topic that has universally shaped the lives of many individuals around the world. There is no denying that professional wrestling is firmly entrenched as a part of modern culture. Wrestling has become a multimillion dollar industry with a very long history dating back hundreds of years. I have decided to write about and discuss the lack of explanation sociologists have when describing wrestling as a social phenomenon. The reason I have decided to write about this topic is because as a child I was fascinated by pro wrestling, more specifically, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). I feel that wrestling has played an important role in my development socially, emotionally, and physically. To begin, it is important to understand that wrestling is above and beyond a spectacle as described by Roland Barthes. Wrestling is an investment in one s self. It is an accumulation of countless hours spent on the wrestling mat, in the gym, and in the studio. It is a display of hegemonic masculinity to its highest degree, wrestlers understand this. Professional Wrestlers understand that the nature of the sport is tough, unforgiving, and requires a superhero attitude. The common goals shared amongst the wrestling culture have a distinct impact on how wrestlers identify themselves to society. Socially, wrestling has not been analyzed as closely as it should be. Subconsciously, individuals who attend or express an interest in professional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With this new opportunity he designed a plan in hopes of reducing poverty through debt forgiveness. The plan was called the highly indebted poor countries (HIPC) initiative Countries would be eligible for this plan if they had unsustainable debt, debt ranging from 200 250% of their export earnings. The first stage of HIPC involved a structural adjustment for 3 years until the Decision Point was reached, if the debt was still unsustainable there would be a 67% cancellation. The country would then enter stage two which included another 3 years of adjustment until the completion point, 80% debt reduction and debt owed to the IMF would be cancelled by taking out of the HIPC... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 2001 Ghana began the process in hopes of qualifying for the highly indebted poor countries (HIPC) relief initiative in hopes of gaining financial commitment to the Ghana Poverty reduction Strategy (GPRS). The goal of the GPRS and HIPC was to increase food security and income as well as welfare needs such as health, education, and water. Ghana s economy at the time was dealing with high inflation, and declining exchange rate. The HIPC initiative aims to reduce the NPV or net present value of external debt to a maximum 150% exports or, for small open economies, to 250% of government revenue at the time of HIPC completion point (Afoom, N 2011). The main problem most countries seem to face with regards to HIPC is whether or not debt sustainability is achievable when it comes to low income countries. While the original HIPC initiative was quite successful in relieving debt and reaching Ghana s completion point, the enhanced HIPC is believed to be what will keep them from falling back into where they started. The enhanced HIPC initiative was born during the G summit in Cologne, Germany in 1999. The initiative not only helps develop the country but also puts into place strategies that can be clearly used to reduce poverty. Funding for the initiative comes from two types of creditors; bilateral and commercial, and multilateral creditors. With the new enhanced HIPC initiative came new components and policies. • 10. Rabbit Proof Fence Film Analysis Rabbit Proof Fence, originally written by Doris Pilkington Garimara in 1996, is a true story, which was adapted into a movie in 2002 by Phillip Noyce. The film captures the adventures of three Aboriginal girls (Molly, 14, Daisy, 8, and Gracie, 10), who escape from an English settlement school after being forcibly taken from their home in Jigalong. The director positions viewers to feel negatively toward the issue of cultural destructiveness through the application of three main conventions. These conventions include characterization, camera angles, and setting. Characterisation is a key convention in the development of the way in which the character will be observed by the audience, as well as camera angles and setting. A.O. Neville, Chief Protector of Aborigines, is a strong example in this point as his character was built up to be powerful. For instance, when A.O. Neville was seated at his desk, in his office, the camera was angled to look up at him. The setting of his costly office in addition to the low camera angle positions spectators to see him as a dominant person. Through the use of characterisation, Noyce has positioned the audience to respond empathetically towards the three girls during the time of their confinement. The film s antagonist, A.O. Neville is characterized to represent a central theme in the issue of cultural destructiveness. This can be proven in a variety of segments within the movie; for instance, A.O. Neville can be seen to have good intentions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Poetry Analysis of Introduction to Poetry Poetry analysis of Introduction to Poetry The Poem Introduction to Poetry is by Billy Collins, an English poet, and it is about how teachers often force students to over analyze poetry and to try decipher every possible meaning portrayed throughout the poem rather than allowing the students to form their own interpretation of the poem based on their own experiences. Throughout the poem, a number of literary devices are used. For example: or press an ear against its hive . Using this metaphor, Billy Collins is comparing the body of a poem to the hive of a bee. The hive of a bee appears to be something dangerous and unknown, just like a new poem, never before seen, with which one is unfamiliar. Using this metaphor, Billy Collins is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is an effective metaphor as water skiing brings about a great sense of joy and is fun, just as reading a poem in Billy Collins opinion should be. The use of onomatopoeic devices and onomatopoeic words are abundant in this poem. For instance, I say drop a mouse into a poem is a line whereby the word drop , a very onomatopoeic word, effectively suggests that the reader of a poem must gently analyze a poem. This is portrayed through the gentle p sound of the word and this is therefore effective as the reader gets a sense of the gentleness Billy Collins wishes his readers had when it comes to analyzing poetry. The fact that enjambment is used throughout the poem such as in the lines, like a colour slide or press an ear against its hive portrays a lack of structure and therefore emphasizes the initial enjoyment one feels when reading a poem before the chore of analyzing it begins. This is also emphasized through the fact that the poem is a free verse poem. The poem suddenly becomes much darker in the last stanza and a Billy Collins explains how teachers, students or general readers of poetry torture a poem by being what he believes is cruelly analytical. He says, all they want to do is tie the poem to a chair with rope and torture a confession out of it . Here, the poem is being personified yet again and this brings about an almost human connection between the reader and the poem. This use of personification is effective as it makes the ... Mr. Deng understood that China required Western technology, innovation and investment, therefore he opened the path for outside organisations who needed to set up in China (News.bbc.co.uk, n.d.). At first, four Special Economic Zones (SEZs) were farmed in South China with tax incentives to draw in outside speculation into the nation. As the nation is a developing economy, the government has to play a critical role to guide and control the nation (Nove and Gerschenkron, 1963). For instance, the part of government in enhancing general financial and social welfare ought not be expelled or belittled, even in developed, mature economies (Reich, 1989). Developing markets are countries that are investing in more productive capacity. This means while Air Canada may fly more kilometers than WestJet, the two companies are not so far off from each other when it comes to gaining customers (Statistics Canada, 2016). WestJet s differentiating point is their price competitive nature. As a low cost carrier the company values offering guests the same experience they may receive at higher priced airlines. Air Canada has, however, also began operating a low cost segment back in 2013 called Air Canada Rouge. WestJet is now looking to launch an ultra low cost segment, WestJet Swoop in June 2018, targeting guests who are mainly concerned about getting from one location to another and less concerned about flexibility and convenience (Dormer, 2017). • 14. The Cause And Effects Of The Bystander Effects When there is an emergency, why is taking out our phones to take a picture or video the very first thing we want to do? Why do we casually walk by a person who is in trouble, and go about our business as if we did not anyone? Why do we not help or act when someone is getting, but instead we just stand in a crowd and watch? Why do we bury our moral instincts during emergencies? We witness a problem, consider positive action, and respond by doing nothing. Why do we not help in these situations and put our moral instincts in shackles (Keltner Marsh, 2017). We as people are bystanders to the world around us daily, but the question is why? The answer to all the why questions is the bystander effect. The bystander effect is a social psychological scenario where a person who is in an urgent situation is not given any help by the people around due to the discourage from the presence of others (whatispsychology.biz, 2017). Social psychologists, John Darley and Bibb Latane, introduced the bystander effect in the 1960s after the murder of Kitty Genovese, a young woman who was stabbed to death outside her home in New York City. It took her attacker more than half an hour to kill her, and during that time, thirty eight people saw her being murdered, and they did nothing to help her. The responsibility for helping was diffused among the observers (Darley Latane, 1968). Psychologists state diffusion of responsibility is one of the main blames for the bystander effect being ... • 17. The Battle Of The Punic Wars Joel Medero History Western Civilization Professor Smail THE PUNIC WARS During the 3rd and 2nd centuries B.C., three wars were fought between Rome and Carthage. The name given to describe the wars Punic, is a divided word from the Latin and Greek words for Phoenician. The city of Carthage, situated in what is now Tunisia in North Africa, was founded in 814 B.C. by the Phoenicians. The first two wars were the longest 23 years and 17 years, separated by an interval of 23 years. The last and third war lasted only three years. It started 52 years after the end of the second Punic War. All three wars were won by Rome, which automatically emerged as the greatest military power in the Mediterranean Sea. The hostility of Carthage impelled Rome to build up its large army and create a strong navy just like the one Carthage had. Strong military leaders of the war for Carthage and his sons Hasdrubal and Hannibal. Rome s outstanding leaders were Scipio Africanus. Belief holds that Phoenician settlers from the Mediterranean port of Tyre discovered the city state of Carthage on the northern coast of Africa. By 265 B.C., Carthage was the richest and the most advanced city in the region, as well as its prominent naval power. Through Carthage had clashed forcefully with several other powers in the region, notably Greece, its relations with Rome were historically friendly, and its cities had signed several treaties defining trading rights over the years. Canada Renewable Energy Case Study 2.2 The wrong definition of the market and the creation of the market 2.21 A brief introduction of Canada Renewable Energy/FIT In Canada Renewable Energy/FIT, the AB made several innovations which were criticized by commentators. The argument started from the provision of FIT system by the government of the Canadian Province of Ontario. The province of Ontario provided a feed in tariff program to the renewable energy (wind and solar energy) producers which compromised 20 year price guarantee. Then, the Panel and the AB were required to determine whether the province of Ontario conferred advantages on the renewable energy producers. It was the responsibility for the complainants (Japan and Europe) to prove that the actions of the province ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To be specific, the AB stated even if the demand side factors suggested that the definition of the market should be a single electricity market, regardless of its sources, the supply side elements also implied that the renewable energy market created by the government should be the market benchmark which should be distinguished from the regular energy market. As stated above, it is clear that the theories of supply side and demand side were in the equal position. Therefore, there was not enough evidence for the AB to abandon the theory of demand side . As these two theories were in the equal position, the consumers views should be worth referring to. To be specific, the Panel found that the consumers do not distinguish electricity on the basis of generation technologies, prices and usage. Furthermore, the AB also expressed the same opinion, saying electricity is identical and there is high demand substitutability between electricity through various technologies. Obviously, the consumers did not care about the electricity generation sources. In sum, according to the EU experiences and the attitudes of the consumers, the definition of the market should not be confined to a renewable energy market, instead, a broader wholesale electricity market should be the appropriate benchmark. So remediating a text through a different tool ultimately will change the way it is communicated to its audience. For example, imagine the oratory medium that Tupac used to convey his hit song, Changes was instead only a written form of the lyrics. This traditional technology would not only affect the message behind the song but the audience s acceptance of it. The second way I have communicated this song is visually. I have constructed a collage of what I thought the song was trying to convey. This leaves area for the original message to be interpreted differently among each individual and losing sight of the originality of it. Although these mediums are proper for some texts, I think that Tupac choose the correct form, auditory to communicate his message. I began my remediation process ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Extinction Of The Dinosaurs The mass extinction of the Cretaceous period The debate over what happened to the dinosaurs have been one of the most controversial research topics in history. One minute, the earth was blooming with countless trees and a healthy environment, then, in the period of seconds, all life on earth was wiped out, creating a mass extinction across the globe (Bond, 2017). Discovering what ended the cretaceous period has been a major priority in the scientific world, however, with enough modern day research, scientists have nailed the extinction of the Dinosaurs down to two major theories; the asteroid impact theory, and the volcanic eruption theory, both being extremely alike. As research has been undertaken, scientists have evaluated all possible theories, distinguishing that there are two major possibilities; the volcano theory and the asteroid impact theory. Both theories are highly comparable, yet both have distinguishing qualities that indicate their differences. The Volcano theory, affecting the wide spread area of India has been proven as a major factor to the discovery of why the dinosaurs became extinct. Research indicates that 65 million years ago, monstrous lava beds called Deccan traps covered the surface of the earth, over an area of 500 000 square kilometres (Weishampel, 2017). It is after close examination of both the Lillard Center and the Deerpath Hall, that the viewer can realize the presence of gravity defying elements present in both structures. Even though these elements do not enhance each building s own function, it does, however, act as an ornament to the overall design that attracts viewers attention. To portray this idea, the Deerpath Hall front structure displays an illusion of even flatness in the building s main front wall. This is created by the top, front section of the building s wall being indented inwards and thus, creating a hollow space. To then create a sense of flatness, a small portion of its roof hovers over the indented part of the wall in such a way that the illusion is formed. Not only does this added ornament conveyed a sense of awe in the viewer, but also demonstrates the college s in this century attempt to portray a sense of the future through the incorporation of modern elements present in architecture during this time period. A doctor is a person who treats disease and saves patients; however, when they have an illness, they are also like other patients. They meet difficult situations with their patients but also feel for them. They tend to be fair because they know about medicine and its limits. They do not wantto die. When describing the attitude of workers towards their work, Ehrenreich states that the only thing to do is to treat each shift as a one time only emergency: you ve got fifty starving people out there, lying scattered on the battlefield, so get out there and feed them (396). She uses the words one time only emergency to give readers a sense of emergency by highlighting the unavoidability and time limited of their works and uses words starving and lying to point out the impatience of customers, building up a tense atmosphere. Then Ehrenreich uses the second person pronoun you when she refers to workers to add pressure on readers by bringing readers to their circumstances. Furthermore, when Ehrenreich writes about the working state, she uses the word burn for three times repetitively, which vividly compares the busy status to the raging fire, highlighting the energy drain of hardworking workers and building up a sense of excitement to the readers (396). Therefore, Ehrenreich builds up the urgent tone step by step to expose the hard work of employees in the restaurant. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Social Media Marketing Communication Marketing Social Media Marketing Communication Overview As seen in product marketing, successful marketing requires organizations to think outside of the box and find new ways to communicate to their consumers. The majority of consumers utilize social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube; organizations must exploit their marketing techniques on these sites in order to maximize their advertising range (Adis, Ing, Osman, Razli, Pang, Sondoh, Majid, 2015). Not to mention, social media marketing has become more popular because of its cost effectiveness and efficiency in reaching and engaging with consumers (Castronovo Huang, 2012). For this reason, social networking is becoming a necessity, according to St. Clergy (2012), Nearly four in five active Internet users visit social networks and blogs...Americans spend more time on Facebook than they do on any other U.S. website, and Internet users over 55 are driving the growth of social networking through the mobile Internet. (St. Clergy, 2012, para. 2) Known as the horizontal revolution, information no longer flows vertically from big companies to the rest of the world, consumers have become marketing tools as well. Unfortunately, organizations are unable to control the message that consumers are communicating (Bruce Solomon, 2013); however, they can use social media to assure their audiences of the company s commitment to the consumer s satisfaction. Purpose There are two types of marking communication used on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The four main ingredients in a Hershey s bar are chocolate liquor, cocoa butter, sugar and milk. The milk and sugar are combined and dried until it has a thick taffy texture. Then chocolate liquor is mixed with the sugar milk, and this mixture turns into a dark brown powder called chocolate crumb. Cocoa butter gets added to the chocolate crumb, then the mixture is grinded through steel rollers making it a smooth chocolate paste. The paste is poured into huge vats called conches, where large granite rollers smooth out any gritty particles. Next the chocolate needs to be cooled so it reaches the proper texture. Next the chocolate needs to be molded into the signature Hershey shape. The molds are put onto a vibrating conveyer belt so the air bubbles are removed, and the chocolate can settle. The bars are then sent through a cooling tunnel, where they are cooled until solid. Then the bars are ready to be sent to wrapping (McGarry,1). Hershey produced many types of chocolate, and non chocolate candies for people all over the world to enjoy. Their factories are located all through America. • 41. Why Is George Not A Good Friend To Lennie In life you have good friends and bad friends, which includes many types of friendships. An example of friendship can be found in John Steinbeck s novella Of Mice and Men . The two main characters George and Lennie seemed to have a good friendship. After reading and analyzing this novella, I believe that George overall was not a good friend to Lennie. George tells Lennie that if he was alone , life would be so easy. How do you tell your friend that? Then he mentions how if he was alone , he could get a job and work with no trouble. He talks about Lennie as if he was a bother. George also mentions how he could eat alone at any place he wants, hotel or any place and order anything he could think of. That is not caring for someone and also I think that the main reason he stayed with Lennie and stuck by him was of pure guilt .George would also repeat how life would be easier if he was alone and basically what he could do without Lennie. One key concept and evidence that George is not a good friend to Lennie is that you do not under any circumstance kill your friend. In conclusion, I believe that overall in the novella Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck ,George was not a good friend to Lennie. George did take care of Lennie but,in my point of view, not because he actually cared for Lennie.George never once mentions how he cares for Lennie or how much he loves his companionship but does mention how easy life would be without him and if if they were related he would kill himself .Yes George looked over him and stuck by him but in most cases Lennie would have been better of being with someone ... • 43. My Childhood Experience Everybody has grown up differently. Everybody has different stories, different memories, and different hardships that have shaped who they are as a person. When most people think of their childhood they think of family night board games. They think of running off to the park with their best friends, laughing on swingsets and hopping scotch until they were out of breath. They have memories of vacations, funny stories at familygatherings, or that one time they fell of their bike and their dad carried them home and put on a bandaid and made all the pain go away. I have no memory of my mom and dad being together and being happy. Just the terrible things that led up to their divorce. The fact that when I thought back to my childhood and all I could remember were the sad and depressing moments made me turning to photography. As soon as I got my 3rd generation iPod touch for Christmas in 2012, I was obsessed with taking pictures. I would take pictures of anything that i found beauty in. I didn t care that it wasn t the best quality or I didn t know the right angles. I knew I would learn and upgrade and that in the meantime, I would document everything on my shitty iPod camera in hopes to make up for all the lost memories. I would grow to use photography as a tool to cope with a dreadful, fleeting childhood, emotionally hard times I went through, and my biggest fears in life. In his book the frog and the Ox, Aesop states Self conceit leads to self destruction meaning that over bragging and exaggerating about yourself could be the cause of your self destruction in the end. Many of Tennessee Williams work deals with the difference between reality vs. perception and his play A Streetcar Named Desire was no exception. Her cloths were not good quality ...but Blanche continued to try to maintain that fantasy of a beautiful, young, desirable woman... Moore is further acknowledging the fact that despite Blanche knowing she s a liar there is a subconscious part of her that believes that if she dresses up and make her appearance look good she could give off the impression that she s living the ideal life. As the play progresses we learn why Blanche was forced to leave Belle Reve. She explains that the epic fortifications of her ancestors caused her financial loses.
