Forensic Evidence From A Crime Scene
Procedures used to examine and recover forensic evidence from a crime scene.
There are many different procedures in Forensic Science which are used to gather evidence
from crime scenes, all of which vary due to no crime scene being identical. Examining the
evidence from a crime scene is essential and a very important factor of Forensic Science. The
evidence gathered from a crime scene will provide facts and piece together information regarding
the crime committed, this information is then used to form a case and debate what happened at the
crime scene. Once all the information is gathered and the facts are established, the case is then
presented to a court of justice to prove or disprove any facts and evidence.
Usually there are many steps when examining and recovering forensic evidence for a crime scene
and these are as follow.
Planning to examine a crime scene
When planning to examine a crime scene all aspects should be taken into account before entering.
The first thing that should happen is cordoning off the crime scene, this is predominately
performed by the police and is done so to ensure the crime scene is not contaminated by public
access. Once the scene is secure access is restricted to the police and forensic team. When planning
to examine a crime scene key information should be available which will help identify the location,
area and what type of crime has been committed. This information will enable the forensic team to
competently perform a rigorous examination

When A Strong Argument Goes Down Hill
In today s society, everyone has heard of the saying, Education is important and college is the
key to a well off life. Some may think on the contrary that there are other routes that one may can
take and still become successful in life as well. College is not the only answer to every
individual. Not everybody is academically driven so the topic still appears to be very much
controversial. In the essay, Is College for Everyone, Pharinet articulates her perspective on the
reason why she thinks that college is not really meant for everybody. Pharinet presented her side of
the argument to her audience by laying out dome persuasive techniques. She uses a mixture or
logos, ethos, and pathos to defend her case. Since, Pharinet s has a background of being a
professor, she has some authority over this argument because she has witnessed first hand on how
college students act and interacted with college students before. However, Pharinet demonstrations
slight bias perspectives though out her argument she is very narrow minded. Even though her
arguments are stated clearly she is lacking on her claims she backs up her argument with biased
logic, uncited statistics, and a lot of pathos.
Within Pharinet essay, she does a wonderful job at presenting her views of the topic on, Is
College for Everyone. However, her claims are weak due to the lack of evidence. Pharinet included

Challenger Disaster Essay
Before the Challenger disaster NASA was a company that once was never prepared to handle
disaster. NASA experienced it s first disaster in October of 1968 known as the Apollo. When the
Apollo occurred NASA wasn t prepared and failed at protecting it s company and discussing the
publics concerns for the disaster. NASA at this time had no exact protocol on handling disasters
and acted on impulse which contributed to NASA losing their reputation. After the Apollo disaster
NASA made it best efforts to create direct protocols to follow when a disaster occurs that they
later was able to use when disaster struck again in the Apollo 13 disaster of 1971. It was at this
time that NASA followed the protocol they set fourth for disaster that helped them handle the crisis
in a manner that would protect both the company and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I argue this because NASA was not honest in all their disasters and tried to make coverups that
the public later found out about and when trust is lost its hard to regain it back. The public
believes they have the right to know about crisis and companies are responsible for keeping them
informed so by NASA refusing to give instant and direct information about there crisis they felt
NASA neglected there right to know. NASA failing to let the public know about a crisis many
would argue they weren t being sensitive to how the crisis affected others besides them directly.
Today NASA would need to be more honest about the disaster that occurred and make instant
statement about what is happening to keep the public informed so the public can feel NASA is
considering how they feel. With the change in technology since 1986 NASA would be able to
discuss their crisis through media outlets such as Print,Film,Recording,Television,Radio, and most
importantly the internet where they could use Social Media outlet which are huge

Jet Propulsion Laboratory Harvard Business School Case 9 110 031 1.1 Should Gentry Lee
recommend launch or delay for the Mars Biological Explorer (MBE) mission?
Gentry Lee should recommend the launch for the MBE mission. As stated in the case study,
Gentry Lee is introduced to the project with a significant amount of experience working with
NASA and interplanetary exploration missions (Kaplan and Mikes, 2010). Multiple review boards
took place to discuss in detail the consequences and likelihood of risks occurring. Tiger teams
were established to find resolutions to existing problems weeks before the launch date. The case

The risk review boards also define time and cost reserves for the project. According to the case
study the reserves provide a bumper for parts of the project that can go wrong, while still allowing
those parts to continue to move forward and meet its intended goal (Kaplan and Mikes, 2010).
2.2 What Role does each play, and what is critical for success?
2.2.1 What is the role of the risk review board?
Redmill (2002) stated that It is often claimed that the greatest value of risk analysis lies not in
the values derived but in the fact that the process forces us to think deeply about, and therefore
better understand the risks. The methodology and processes established as part of the risk
review board were imperative for the success of the MBE program because it forced all parties
involved to better understand the risks of the project. The role of the risk review board was to
do a deep dive into critical risks and determine the likelihood and consequence of that risk
occurring during the project. The review board is made up of skilled and highly qualified experts,
they are tasked to review each risk critically and thoroughly. Although the board was made up of
12 people in JPL, NASA and the main contract, it was the responsibility of the project team
engineers to effectively communicate the mitigation strategy for each risk. Kaplan and Mikes

Water Pollution In Water
The topic that was chosen was turbidity. Turbidity is the pollution in water. Turbidity is commonly
associated with cloudiness or haziness in water. The pollution that studied was dirt and how it
affected fish. It is important because it is killing our wildlife. There needs to get teams of people
each month going out and cleaning up the water. If the dirt in the water affected the fishthen the
experimental group would die. During the time of researching this topic, it was discovered how
different this world has changed, the types of creatures have been affected by pollution.
Too much caffeine can affect sleep. Too much algae or sediment in lakes/ streams can make them
unlivable for aquatic life.Turbidity is caused by particles suspended or dissolved in water that
scatter light making the water appear cloudy or murky.Turbidity is the cloudiness or haziness of a
fluid caused by large numbers of individual particles that are generally invisible to the naked eye,
similar to smoke in air.
In this project, dirt had been used to change the conditions of the environment and see how these
fish would react. During which there was an opposite tank with normal water, a filter and 5 fish.
The other tank had been used with a container, dirt, and five fish as well.
During this projects it was tested to see how each fish would react to the water. Most of the fish in
the dirty water have died, all but 2. More of the fish died in this tank then the normal water tank.

Theme Of Alienation In Frankenstein
People often find something wrong with things they do not view as normal, many times, these
different aspects of the world draw ire or even hatred of those around them. Similarly, it is common
that individuals within society will demean those who look, act, or sound differently. This problem
spans cultures and generations, and, as with most problems, there are noble men and women who
fight for the outside, the alienated, in different ways. One such method is through literature. In
Mary Shelley s novel Frankenstein, the monster only wants to be accepted by the humanworld, but
man constantly rejects him. It shows how people judge based on appearance and choose to
alienate those who fail to conform to their expectations. Throughout the story, the monster
encounters different people who all reject him because of how he appears. Victor spends two
years attempting to create life, yet when he does, he immediately hates his creation: now that I
had finished, but the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror and disgust filled my
heart (42). It is shocking how quick Victor is to judge his own work. As soon as he comes to life
and Victor sees this monstrosity that he has created, he deems him hideous and feels his past two
years were a waste of time. This shows how superficial Victor is. He spends years of work
creating life, but decides that the monstrosity he creates is ugly and just leaves. He abandons this
monster when he is in his infancy. What Victor does is

Changes Through Time Analysis

kind of person I was, and what kind of person I am going to be. To begin with, this activity made
me realise what kind of person I am. I learned that I am a very respectful, intelligent, and clam
person. This is a very important because I discovered who I really am. Secondly, this activity
made me realise what kind of person I used to be. I used to be a very stubborn and active person.
This made me realise that the changes have improved in many ways (attitude), but not all
changes were positive, for example, I became less active/athletic. Thirdly, this activity made me
realise who I was going to become. I felt like I was going to become a respectful, determined, and
successful person. This activity has helped me make life goals and also exceeded my
determination. To summarize, in this activity I learned what kind of person I am, what kind of
person I was, and what kind of person I am going to be.

The Aging Process Affects A Number Of Neurocognitive...
Introduction
It is well established that the aging process adversely affects a number of neurocognitive
functions. Increasing our understanding of the neurocognitive aging process remains a significant
public health issue. A large body of cross sectional data (Anstey, Lord, Williams, 1997; Anstey,
Luszcz, Sanchez, 2001a; Anstey Smith, 1999; Baltes Lindenberger, 1997, 1997; Lin et al., 2011;
Lindenberger Baltes, 1994; Salthouse, Hancock, Meinz, Hambrick, 1996) and longitudinal data
(Anstey, Luszcz, Sanchez, 2001b; Lin et al., 2014) has demonstrated age related declines in
sensory functions that often happen in tandem with declines in cognitive ability. Age related
declines in sensory functions also profoundly affect quality of life (Carabellese et al., 1993). There
have been a number of studies that have used both cross sectional and longitudinal methods. In two
cross sectional analyses of 77 (mean age = 50.5, S.D. = 16.7) and then 127 participants (mean age
= 45.9, S.D. = 15.5), Salthouse and colleagues (1996) found that the relationship between sensory
functioning (near visual acuity) and cognition (working memory, associative learning, and concept
identification) increased with age. With a similar cross sectional approach, Baltes and colleagues
(1997) analyzed data from two large age groups: a younger adult sample (25 69 years, n = 171,
mean age = 48.2, SD = 14.7) and an older adult sample (70 103 years, n = 516, mean age = 84.9,
SD = 8.66).

Code Of Ethics By Credentialing Association (ACA)
Code of ethics published in 1953 by the American Psychological Association (APA). After that
National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and American Counseling Association (ACA)
adopted its ethical code (Neukrug, 2011). Ethical codes have been revised multiple times to fit
the needs of the organization depending on the professional values, which was not an easy task to
decide what to include in a code. There are many important things society value, so choosing
which values to reflect on the code has been a struggle for the association. Ethical codes are
needed in many professional; in fact, it should be for every profession. It is to assist in a
professional s ethical decision making process. There are six fundamental moral principles of
professional ethical behaviors autonomy, nonmaleficence, beneficence, justice, fidelity, and
veracity. A code has value as both an internal guideline and an external statement of corporate
values and commitments (EthicsResearch Center [ERC], n.d., para. 1). It is crucial to follow ethical
standards when helping clients.

Analysis Of The Poem The Harbormaster By Frank O Hara
To the Harbormaster : An Open Letter to God
At first glance, it appears as though O Hara s poem To the Harbormaster is about a man sailing a
turbulent sea, but there is far more to examine past the surface level of the poem. O Hara
chooses to use the word vessel (14) in the poem. The Oxford English dictionary defines the word
vessel in multiple ways. One is any structure designed to float upon and traverse the water for the
carriage of persons or goods; a craft or ship of any kind. It is also defined as Said of the body, esp.
as the receptacle of the soul and has origins in that context from the bible (OED). In Frank O Hara
s poem To the Harbormaster, the harbormaster is actually a metaphor for God, which can be
examined by unpacking the meaning of the word vessel, and illuminates the human experience of
grappling with religion.
In To the Harbormaster, the word vessel is meant literally as a ship. He uses nautical imagery all
throughout: ship (2), moorings (3), tide (5), rudder (8), hull (10), cordage (10), reeds (13), and
finally vessel (14). In this way, and for the metaphor of someone at sea throughout, at the surface
level of the poem, vessel is used to describe a ship. However, when further examining the word
vessel as meaning a body or receptacle for the soul, and the biblical origins associated with that
meaning, one is able to find several examples to back up an alternate and deeper meaning. In the
lines, To / you I offer my hull and

Papers On Homelessness
Homeless is more than being without a home. It is tied into education needs, food, security; health
issues both mental and physical, employment issues, etc. Don t forget the whole picture. ( Boxed In

Throughout my research I found there is a real cry out for action on providing more affordable
house not just locally but throughout the country. There needs to be more funding available to
build more gear to income or subsidized housing and all levels of government need to take action.
Homelessness has different meanings to different people; someone who has never been homeless
might think homelessness is a person who lives on the street, in a tent or in a box. Many people

Many of us take for granted having adequate housing, health care, food and clothing while others

There are many people that are at risk of becoming homeless and some of the risks are; people
with mental health issues, women leaving domestic violence, loss of income, addictions and death
of person who was helping to financially support them.
Families require stabilized housing that is affordable, safe and maintained. If they don t have
stabile housing they are moving more often and this can effect the children s education when being
moved from school to school. The parents are unable to focus on the other areas of their lives when
they are unable to find decent housing.
As a result of the housing boom from 2005 to 2008 this had caused prices of houses to increase
around 30% within that time and I don t think that employment incomes went up that amount. This
has caused hardship in many people s lives that have overextended themselves as well as made
themselves house poor. With house prices rising up, it has made it difficult for people to be able to
find affordable adequate housing to rent or to purchase. This has caused investment properties to

Costs And Benefits Of Hosting The Olympic Games
Is It Worth It?: Analyzing the Costs and Benefits of Hosting the Olympic Games It s a gorgeous
early August day. You just want to be outside, regardless of what you are doing. Are you? Nope.
You are sitting in your car, stuck in traffic because your evening commute home has tripled in time
due to the traffic. This is a common side effect of hosting the Olympic Games. On the other hand,
the influx of people coming into the city does wonders for the local economy. Every few years,
countries throw mind blowing amounts of money at the International Olympic Committee(IOC) for
the right to host the Olympic Games, but is it worth it for the country and its citizens? In 2015,
Boston was in contention to host the 2024 summer Games, but ultimately lost out to Paris, much to
many Bostonians delight. Was their reaction justified, or did they just miss out on a great
opportunity? The monetary costs of hosting the Olympic Games are astronomical. The most
evident cost of hosting the Olympic Games are the monetary costs that come with hosting the
Games. At the Summer Games in 2008, Beijing spent at least US$100 million on the Opening
Ceremonies alone, according to Rishav Bista, Assistant Professor of Economics at Marshall
University. That is just where the costs start. At the time of their bid, many hopeful host cities do
not have the stadiums or arenas needed to accommodate all the events or the amount of people who
will be in attendance. The 2012 Olympic Games ended up costing

What Is a Professional Learning Community
What is a Professional Learning Community?

Abstract
Throughout this paper you will be able to gain more knowledge on what a Professional Learning
Community (PLC) is. I will explore two different areas: general characteristics of PLCs and the
big ideas that are associated with them. I will refer to different types of students throughout this
paper. When I mention high achievers I will be referring to those are students whose test scores put
them in the top twenty five percent nationwide amongst their peers; when I mention low achievers I
am speaking of those students that perform lower than the median of their peers. PLC refers to

2. Create high performing teams. PLCs are built on a collaborative culture, where school leaders
and teachers work together to achieve their collective purpose of learning for all.
Within this big idea we, as teachers, develop norms, SMART goals and procedures for which the
PLC is to be run. By having a specific process that is followed during meeting times it keeps the
focus of the group on the learning of the child. When we explore the structure and process of an
effective PLC we one or more of the five characteristics: System Thinking, Personal Mastery, Team
Learning, Challenging Mental Needs, and Shared Vision. (Pearson Custom: Education, Executive
Leadership in the 21st Century MELS 601 p.25) Of these characteristics the most important one for
creating high performing teams is Team Learning. As I stated earlier, if we learn as a team then we
will be more apt to see growth and development in our students because we will then be on the same
thinking path of student achievement. 3. Assess effectiveness of all students learning at high levels
based on results. PLCs judge their effectiveness on outcomes related to the holistic development of
their students.
Within PLCs the professional teaching team should be using relevant data as a means to improve
what is happening inside the classroom. If the team is indeed using the data that is

Opening/Attention:
While wearing fur clothing in cold weather as protection goes back to the stone age, the source for
this material came from the wild. Starting in the latter half of the 20th century, producers and

For some reason back in the fifties the bible was a good source for movies, and you have to
understand one of the reasons will be found in the strength of genre movies. For the director,
there were certain advantages with working within a given genre. Because the characters, the plot,
and the conventions were already established, they provided the director with a kind of cinematic
shorthand greatly simplified the task of storytelling. (Boggs, M., Petrie, D., 2008 7th Ed.) The
original movie was shot in 1923 as a silent film which was also directed by Cecil Demille. The cast
of the 1956 remake of the Ten Commandments were cast from the original silent film. The
production of this film was good for that time period. The production crew had it easy when it
came to the cast, due to most of the cast came from the original film from 1923. The props, scene,
and setting that the production crew used were great, for an example in the film Ten
Commandments, the scene with Moses bringing down the ten commandments from the mountain
top after talking with God. When you look at that scene the production crew does a good job with
the dark clouds and the fire like orange colors in the setting of the clouds. The mountain that was in
the back ground of Moses really stood out in that scene, when Moses gave the ten commandment to

Rivoli, an economist and the author of the book, tracks the life story of her t shirt and explores
the relationships between people, politics and markets. The book is broken down into four parts:
King Cotton , Made in China , Trouble at the Border and My T shirt Finally Encounters a Free
Market . Each part explains a different step of the t shirt process. In the first part of the book,
Rivoli looks into the first step of making a t shirt which is growing the cotton. This part of the book
explains the history of cotton development which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rivoli, the author, educates her readers about global trade and the textile industry and reveals the
truth behind global trade and economy by bringing to light the good and the bad. Rivoli states, a
story of the wealth enhancing possibilities of globalization in some settings but a can t win trap in
others, a trap where power imbalances and poorly functioning politics and markets seem to doom
the economic future. To put it simply, politics and wealth have a huge effect on globalization and
global trade. In addition, Rivoli also explains why free markets are not actually free. Protectionism,
politics and labor issues restrict those markets from being free. Using an everyday item as a t shirt
to tell the story of globalization, the book explains the competitive advantage of different industries,
examines the global economic and political forces and highlight the importance of human elements
in international trade.
Answer 3 Rivoli is not arguing for either free trade or protectionism. This is because she is an
economist who already supports free trade; however, she also believes that both free trade and
protectionism have their advantages. Rivoli greatly emphasizes the ridiculousness of the
regulations, tariffs, quotas and other restrictions that have been put into law to protect the textile

Kanye West s New Album
Kanye West s new album is soon upon us and fans have high hopes. Apparently, it will not only be
the album of the year but the album of the life.
For a self proclaimed God, this might not be the craziest statement to make. Of course, Ye s
claim of divinity is dubious at best. As a human being, Kanye has consistently released
commercially successful and critically acclaimed albums. Will the new release be the best album
of the life or just pretty good? Could it even be a rare misstep for Kanye? We will find out soon
enough.
In the meantime, let us take a look back at Kanye s storied musical career. The following list will
examine one song from each of Kanye s major solo album releases.
1. Through the Wire
Year: 2004
Album: The College Dropout
Notable line: And I still won t grow up, I m a grown ass kid.
Through the Wire symbolizes Kanye s transition from a producer with a dream to legitimate
MC. The track opens with a pitched up Chaka Kahn sample, Through the Fire, alongside a lively
beat. On the track Kanye is literally rapping through the wire. The rapper s jaw was wired shut
after a horrific traffic accident in 2003. Recorded while Kanye recovered, the song represented
something new for hip hop. It is a clever and funny song chock full of cultural references. The
production is soulful and complex. Kanye set himself up us as a figure between worlds. He was a
new kind of rapper that looked forward, but also respected the past. Jesus Walks may have

Persuasive Essay On Locker Searches
I feel that locker searches are an invasion of one s privacy. I also feel that through locker searches
we would be able to increase safety among schools, campuses, locker rooms and many other
places. Lockers are a area where you place a assortment of things in which for some people could
include hazardous things such as weapons, drugs, etc. Although all this is at risk I still feel as
though lockers should be private. And if one is not to be trusted with a locker why should he or

Plato, The, And The Myth Of Er
In 399 BCE, nineteen years before Plato transcribed Republic, classical Greek philosopher Socrates
was formally put on trial and executed on the citation of two impious acts: having failed to
acknowledge the gods that the city acknowledges and introducing new deities. These two
recognized accusations, and the punishment that Socratespaid for them through a poisonous
hemlock based liquid, was witnessed by his student, Plato. Plato was inspired to later write
Socratic works and dialogues dedicated to Socrates memory and teachings; including his Republic,
in which Socrates (through defining justice ) develops a perfect city in speech. In this dialogue, the

It s important that Socrates was walking back from a religious festival at the start of the dialogue,
because it helps modern readers better understand religion in contemporary Ancient Greek culture.
For the purposes of this essay, the definition of religion will be that of the Oxford Dictionary s,
the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.
(Oxford). At the time, while Plato was still alive in Ancient Greece(424 348 BCE), religion was
used to account for acts of nature that were unexplained. Religion was used to relate to our human
nature it is our nature to ask questions, or to contemplate, and religion offered answers to many of
those more difficult questions, questions dealing with our existence, the nature of reality, and the
notion of the soul. But beyond these questions, religion (especially at the time) was used in
attempts to influence fortune in both this world and beyond. This is why the Ancient Greeks built
their temples and made their sacrificial offerings to their gods, and the reason why many who
worship modern religions today pray and make effort to form connections with God. For many,
religion offers a sense of spiritual placement and purpose (Theo), and it created a common bond
between people in their poleis;

The Scientific Revolution refers to a time in history when developments in the sciences took off and
changed the view of society regarding the earth and nature. Some of the relevant topics of this time

the late 18th century. Between 1543 and 1700, Europe underwent many changes that forever

Harvey is given credit for being the first to accurately describe the entire circuit, including arteries
and veins, of where the blood starts in the circulation process and where it ends as a result of heart
contractions. In the publication submitted by Copernicus, he established a model of the universe
that depicted the Sun and not the Earth at the center of the universe. He described the Earth
revolving around the sun which was in contrast to earlier thinking that suggested the sun revolved
around the Earth (heliocentric theory). This revelation of thought started a change in the way the
world was viewed. Maybe the Earth was not the center of everything and maybe there was more out
there that could be learned in order to scientifically understand the world (Scientific revolution).
Johannes Kepler followed in the footsteps of Copernicus. He too believed that the sun was the
center of the universe. Kepler was a religious man and did not want to speak against his religious
beliefs. He therefore took a different approach. He studied the heavens in order to better
understand how God put the planets in motion around the sun. He is best known for his
formulation of the Laws of planetary Motion. The Laws of planetary Motion consisted of three
parts. The first part was the belief that the planets moved in elliptical orbits. The second part was

Mafia Essay
The Mafia way of life may seem like a romantic updated version of the western movie played out
on the streets of the big cities where the good guys and the wise guys who share the same instincts

just a group of uneducated thugs making moneyby victimizing the public. Initially, the Mafiawas
setup as a prominent supplier of bootlegged liquor, but it has spread into many different areas of
crime. During this research paper I will discuss three aspects of the Mafia which are crime,

The Uses Of Human Biological Remains
The use of human biological remains can tell us quite a lot about how past civilizations lived.
One is able to deduce from the findings whether groups of people were transient or stationary by
examining findings from a midden. Refuse stashes also tell us much of what a specific group
consumes in terms of diet or housing materials. One is able to discover how long ago an individual
lived by using dating measurements such as radio carbondating or argon dating. The use of human
biological remains is the most beneficial and educational resource for archeologists in the field and
in the laboratory.
There are many ways to determine antiquity with archeological findings that fall under two main
categories, relative dating and absolute dating. Relative dating uses techniques applied by the
archeologists themselves and produce a general understanding of the age of findings while absolute
dating can provide an exact date the biological remains were alive and uses much more elaborate
and in depth laboratory testing techniques. Absolute dating techniques such as dendrochronology,
radiocarbon dating, and argon dating are the most effective and wide spread methods for dating
human biological remains to provide a detailed analysis of antiquity. Radiocarbon dating is the
most widespread and commonly used technique for dating human remains in archeology. It is
known that all living things contain carbon and upon death carbon breaks down at a specific and
steady rate once. By

Hawaiian Missionaries
The first missionaries arrived to the Hawaiian Islands in 1820 and made a lot of changes to
Hawaii when they arrived, both good and bad. When the missionaries arrived to the islands they
thought of the natives as savages. They all needed to become converts to followers of Christ, drop
their own beliefs and pick up new ones. They also sought out to civilize the natives, by teaching
them how to read and write, sing and Christianize them. Hiram Bingham and Asa Thurston were the
first of many missionaries to arrive in Hawaii. The Queen at the time, Kaahumanu accepted the

Bingham had a hard time setting up mission schools and drawing the islanders in for them to
learn. A lot of the Hawaiians were interested in what was going on, but never really stayed
around, they did not like the clothes and learning to read and they thought writing was just to
hard, but they were still able to teach a good number of them. There were also many things the
Hawaiians did that the missionaries thought were a disgraceful. They viewed hula as sinful and
too provocative, and they were not overjoyed with polygamy and incest, marrying into their same
bloodline happening everywhere. It was going to be a huge job for these missionaries to change
this place around. They did what they could and it would make a huge impact on Hawaii
eventually. The missionaries developed a successful alphabet for Hawaiian by 1826, taught
Hawaiians to read and write the language, published various educational books in Hawaiian, and
eventually finished translating the Bible.

The main handicap of Women in India, and truly world wide, has been that of childbirth. The
bondage of reproduction , as Tikoo words it, had left Women reliant on Men for food, protection
and shelter (Tikoo pg 3). Tikoo also notes a Curse of Woman in India which have lowered their
place in society which is that of early marriage. In India, Hindu religious leaders all decreed that a
girl should be married soon after the beginning of puberty (Tikoo pg 23), and that the age of ten
is considered puberty. For Hindu girls, this means that they have little chance at education past this
age, and truly many do not even receive education before. One reason for this is that many
prospective in laws would not want an educated girl, since they believed that she would not want to
be a virtual servant then (Tikoo pg 26).
The plight of Women becomes very apparent in the sphere of marriage. Women are expected to
marry, and many call it the aim of her existence (Billington pg 22). There is a general belief of
parents that if their daughter does not marry, she will go to hell, and any Woman in this society
which does not marry is not seen as a real Woman. At this point she is forced to go into the
workforce.

Digital Convergence Of Television Industry
1.Digital convergence in television industry
Many years ago, people gathered around the TV sets and later on families together with friends
met up and watched their favourite shows. Nowadays, due to the availability of low priced
technology as well as various channels and programmes, people lock themselves in a private space
watching TV. (Harboe cited in Nicole C.Stephan W.Brenda B.Christine G. 2015). As a result, people
have multiple preferences in TV programmes but nowhere to express their opinions. One way
communication in television industry is facing a big challenge. Web 2.0 comes out and provides a
revolutionary opportunity for television industry, after that, social television is born at the right
moment. Social TV is a new way people watch TV. When they watch TV, they comment on social

participants will feel deep sense of involvement in exchanging opinions with others (Margherita P.

A Child Is Mysterious and Powerful
Within the child lies the fate of the future. Whoever wishes to confer some benefit on society must
preserve him from deviation and observe his natural ways acting. A child is mysterious and

Explain the above quote with reference to the Montessori philosophy.
The term Montessori Philosophy originated from the name of Dr. Maria Montessori, one of the
most influential pioneers in early childhood education. She advised an education which combines a
philosophy with a practical approach based on the central idea of freedom for the child within a

Thus it is said that The child is endowed with unknown powers which can guide us to a radiant
future. (The Absorbent Mind ,P2)
During the observation of children at Casa Dei Bambini, Dr. Maria Montessori discovered that
children prefer work to play. They were able to achieve a self integration through this work. She
found that the aggressive and destructive children became calm and peaceful after working with the
materials. She concluded that through work the child seemed to get fulfillment of some internal
need which made him normalized.
Montessori found out that independence is necessary to the child s normal development. The child
uses his independence to listen to his inner guide for actions that can be useful to him and one who
is served is actually limited in his independence. It is well said that we habitually serve children;
and this is not only an act of servility towards them but it is dangerous, since it tends to suffocate
their useful, spontaneous activity. (Course manual P.40).
We can help the child attain independence by giving opportunity for him to work with the
materials by himself, by directing him towards a given end to develop his will, by giving him
constructive work to help him in developing discipline, by letting him know and have an
understanding of what is good and bad and also giving him freedom to reveal himself completely
by playing only passive role.
Maria Montessori stated that at certain stages

According to Dr. Benjamin Rush s, M.D., writings from 1773, one of the justifications for
slavery stemmed from the misconception that African Americans dark skin tone was the result
of being descended from Cain, who was supposed to have been marked with this colour [sic]
(Cummings 49) and as such they sort of deserve to be enslaved since they weren t descended
from the better biblical brother like white Americans apparently were. This Biblical justification
thus equated being black with the Cain s immoral actions, some of which include murder, lust,

natural gas, also known as LNG, has increased. This need for LNG comes from the concept of
condensing natural gasto its liquid state so that its volume is reduced to 1/600th of its original
volume, making it easier to transport (Source, 2 ). Plus, the demand for natural gas in countries
such as Japan and South Korea is starting to increase the need for LNG since most natural gas
producing nations are too far for pipelines. Therefore, LNG is becoming a viable option for the
transportation of natural gas. In this paper, the creation of LNG will be discussed to show how
LNG is becoming a major factor in the energy industry and the global economy.
In the creation of LNG, many technological advances to the conversion process from gas to liquid
have been essential to its increasing popularity in natural gas exchanging nations. The primary idea
behind the creation of LNG is condensing natural gas after it has been removed from a deep
subsurface reservoir. This condensing process requires an LNG plant. While there is not a standard
for the components of LNG plants, there are some major elements that most of the plants contain.
These elements consist of 5 different sections as shown below.

Post War Soviet Outlook Essay
Section 1: Basic Features of Post War Soviet Outlook, as Put Forward by Official Propaganda
Machine, are as Follows:
(a) USSR still lives in adversarial industrialist enclosure with which over the long haul there can be
no perpetual quiet conjunction. As expressed by Stalin in 1927 to an assignment of American
specialists:
In course of further improvement of universal unrest there will rise two focuses of world
criticalness: a communist focus, attracting to itself the nations which incline toward communism,
and an entrepreneur focus, attracting to itself the nations that slope toward free enterprise. Fight
between these two habitats for the order of world economy will choose the destiny of free
enterprise and of socialism in the whole ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In climate of oriental mystery and connivance, which overruns this Government, conceivable
outcomes for contorting or harming sources and streams of data are boundless. The very lack of
regard of Russians for target truth in fact, their doubt in its presence drives them to view every
expressed reality as instruments for advancement of some ulterior reason. There is justifiable
reason motivation to suspect that this Government is really a scheme inside of an intrigue; and I
for one am hesitant to accept that Stalin himself gets anything like a target picture of outside world.
Here there is abundant extension for the sort of unpretentious interest at which Russians are past
experts. Powerlessness of outside governments to put their case decisively before Russian approach
creators degree to which they are conveyed up in their relations with Russia to great graces of dark
and obscure consultants whom they never see and can t impact this to my brain is most troubling
element of discretion in Moscow, and one which Western statesmen would do well to remember in

Evaluating Janet s Vocabulary
Reason for Referral and My Suggestions Janet is experiencing academic difficulty in mathematics

My reasoning for using this theory over another would be the architectural system (hardware) refers
to biologically based properties necessary for information processing, such as memory span and

decoding is very important when dealing with mathematical work such as how remember our

others struggle. According to Gregory (2010), individuals who are able to use the metacognition
approach to learning tend to have higher performance levels than those individuals that do not use

Torture Is Always Wrong Analysis
The author, Melissa Mae, explains the issue, along with the opposing sides, clearly. Mae begins the
essay by introducing the issue. She says the abuse of detainees at Abu Ghraib gained attention
around 2004. Americans became concerned when they found out the government was using torture
and were extremely upset about it. She states that people believed torture was being used as a part
of the government s interrogation of war on terror detainees. Though she tells the readers what the
issue is, she never fully explains it. She only tells us that the essays she wrote about were written
around the time the debate was heating up. A positive trait about this essayis that she stated the issue
in the first paragraph.
Not only does Mae give examples from both sides, but she also includes many quotes that keep the
reader interested. She writes, Whereas Bagaric and Clarke think saving lives justifies torture,
however, Johnson believes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mae gives the same amount of examples from each side of the argument. Whenever talking about
one writer, she also adds input from the other writer. Mae says, Bagaric and Clarke, in their turn,
anticipate Johnson s argument and refute it by arguing that those who believe (as Johnson does)
that torture is always wrong are misguided. This helps the reader understand both sides of the
argument equally. The writer gives an interesting aspect to the essay. She makes her point clear to
the audience, which makes the essay readable. In the essay, Mae adds fascinating details to keep
the reader interested. When the essay begins to get uninteresting, she adds a detail that makes you
want to continue reading. Paragraph two is a prime example of this. Mae gives a few facts about
the authors, loosing interest from the reader, and then proceeds to add the common ground at the
end of the paragraph. Adding the common ground there persuades the reader to continue

Possible area for future research could be imagine self perspective taking. Past research has
shown that when participants think about how they would personally feel in a situation, then they
tend to feel more self awareness, experience more personal distress, and may even have an
increased sense of morality (Batson, et al., 1997; Batson, et al., 2003). Previous work has also
shown that the two forms of perspective taking elicited different amount of personal distress
(Batson, Early et al., 1997) and different types of cognitions (Davis et al., 2004), and evidence from
neuroimaging studies provide further evidence of their distinguishableness in terms of neural
activity (Jackson, Brunet, Melzoff Decety, 2006).
Future research could consider a different formatting for the perspective taking manipulation,
perhaps to prime the participants and employ imagine self perspective taking prime or a
combination of both imagine self and imagine other primes to examine the effect of perspective
taking manipulation.
Previous research on victim impact statements has indicated that higher emotionality of the victim
impact statements will lead to harsher punishments of the defendant (Myers et al., 1999; Myers et

Nissan s Flagship Sedan Throws Down 300 Horses
Nissan s flagship sedan throws down 300 horses.
The 2017 Nissan Maxima defies easy description. Or categorization.
On the one hand, it is a mainstream midsize sedan. On the other hand, its upper end trims rival the
high quality interiors you find in some luxury models. Adding further confusion to the mix is its
300 horsepower, V6 engine a high output version of a tried and true engine found in other products,
including the Altima sedan.
What the 2017 Nissan Maxima represent is the flagship sedan for the Nissan line. It is smaller than
other leading sedans, including the Dodge Charger, Toyota Avalon, Chevrolet Impala, Hyundai
Azera, Buick LaCrosse, Ford Taurus, Kia Cadenza, and the Chrysler 300. Indeed, the Maxima is

Ambivalence was my initial reaction. Quite honestly, I didn t know what to make of it. On the one
hand, I thought it was a bold design, one that was a clean departure from the previous model, while
still offering strong hints of Nissan s current design language. On the other hand, I wondered what
consumers would think as they are the final arbiters of car design.
It turns out the horseshoe grille, floating roof, and wild tail lights have done nothing to
discourage buyers. Indeed, after five years of steady declines, Maxima sales this year are better
than what we ve seen in more than three years. That says a lot in a market where car sales have
been steadily declining as customers shift their purchase decisions to crossovers.
Choose the Maxima SR (our test model) and you ll benefit from 19 inch aluminum alloy wheels, a
sport tuned suspension, and Premium Ascot leather appointed seats with Alcantara inserts. You also
get aluminum pedals, a heated steering wheel, adjustable ambient lighting, heated and cooled front
seats, an 11 speaker Bose audio system, Nissan Connect with navigation and Apple CarPlay, and
one of my favorites: a driver s seat extender for added thigh support.
On the safety front, the Nissan Maxima was an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ recipient in 2016. The

Exploitation Of Seemingly Unlimited Natural Resources And...
Cod PaperExploitation of seemingly unlimited natural resources and overfishing of our seas has
been a common theme throughout human history and across cultures, and as global populations
grow, these problems only compound. The basic nature of World History is to break down borders
and remove nationalistic biases in the hope of finding an objective viewpoint, and humans
exploiting environmental resources for short term gain is as cross cultural a characteristic as they
come.
Cod Part One: A Fish Tale delves deeply into the inception of the cod trade between various
European countries and cross cultural integration of the fish into their diets. Kurlansky finds

Furthermore, those who moderate their intake of the resource lose the advantage to those who
exploit it, even if moderation would be a superior advantage for everybody in the long run.
Overfishing is a perfect example, because fishermen earn their living in direct proportion to the
number of fish they catch, not to the sustainability of their fishing practices. The problem is further
compounded by the fact that the sustainable limits of the catch are often unclear and speculative,
owing to the complexity and size of the earth s water systems.
Cod Part Two: Limits tells the story of the beginnings of mass, industrialized fishing and how it
affected the cod market and availability of the cod itself. Kurlansky studies the similarities and
differences between the industrialized cod fishing economies on both sides of the Atlantic,
showcasing connections characteristic of World History. The development of new, improved ways
to fully harness the power of the ocean meant that we could begin to truly test its limits. Line
fishing, trawling, gillnetting; these methods made fishing dramatically more efficient just as they
depleted the environmental stocks of fish at an unprecedented rate. Dr. Michael N Pearson writes
that Local, traditional fishers had to compete with foreign trawlers, which vacuumed up marine life
in a totally random way. 1 This was a war,

better of I.M.:
I wanted to stop the car and talk with Mr. Norton, to beg his pardon for what he had seen; plead

Summary Of Nancy Mairs On Being A Cripple
Juney Ngan When undermined by an incurable disease, it s difficult to think positively. Especially
with multiple sclerosis, where life adjustments including changes to communication, daily routines,
even basic bodily functions are necessary, it s likely to approach situations hopelessly. However,
essayist Nancy Mairs provides her own detailed anecdote on accepting these lifelong impairments.
In her essay, On Being a Cripple, Mairs develops her attitude toward her condition through multiple
accounts of asyndetons, figurative language, and her personal experience. Through her careful use
of asyndetons, Mairs makes it evident that multiple sclerosis has taken a lot away from her.

She recalls the beginning stages of the condition, when she started to trip and drop things (p2).
It was new to her, considering that tripping and dropping things isn t exactly normal on a regular
basis. Doing so didn t necessarily make it easier to continue all her everyday activities, either.
Rather than resting herself, Mairs mentions how she spends a lot of time in extremis and,
impatient with limitation, I tend to ignore my fatigue until my body breaks down in some way
and forces rest (p5). She lists what she is forced to endure everyday, aware that the common man
doesn t have to put up with what she suffers. Despite the burden the disease has placed on her,
Mairs still considers herself lucky so far. My world has, of necessity, been circumscribed by my
losses, but the terrain left me has been ample enough for me to continue many of the activities
that absorb me (p4). She suggests that things are still looking up for her; instead of dwelling on
what she isn t able to do anymore, Mairs demonstrates that she still looks forward to other
specialties. Recognizing that it s a lifelong strain, she shows persistence and willingness to adjust
her lifestyle as the disease

operations include a need for competitive advantage against rivaling companies, increase their
economies of scale to lower their production and distribution costs in moving products into new and
existing markets, entering new markets to increase brand image and brand loyalty, and to increase
net earnings which can then be distributed as dividends for their stockholders. Where PepsiCo.

company can enter a foreign market. They include, Exporting Importing, Licensing Franchising,
Contract Manufacturing, Foreign Direct Investment, Equity Purchases, and Strategic Alliances.
Obstacles that Pepsi faced when trying to prospecting India include: Terrorism in the Punjab

Although she accomplished her goal, it took Nyad a total of five attempts in order to
successfully swim from Cuba to Florida. Her fifth and final attempt to make this journey took her
approximately fifty three hours. The distance was over 110 miles, which broke the world record

hard times during her expedition, she never gave up on herself. Her experience plays a large role
in not only how people see the world, but the way they see themselves too.
The hard times that Nyad encountered during the swim only made her stronger. She experienced

Drug Legalization And Desperate Lives
Drug Legalization
Drug legalization has been a very controversial topic among America for numerous years. Many
are for the legalization of drugs while there are some that are against it and try to stop the
legalization of drugs. Granted, there are pros and cons to legalization of drugs, there should be
leeway of particular ones if prescribed only by a doctor.
Drugs such as cocaine, meth, and Phencyclidine, also know as, angel dust , and many other harmful
drugs similar to these should definitely not be legalized whatsoever. Those drugs include many life
threatening effects. Effects so life threatening that in many cases the end result is death. As seen in
the movie, Desperate Lives , teenagers became addicted to using drugs which concluded with
several of them severely hurting themselves or even dying.
Narcotics that are illegal should stay illegal. There is a reason why certain drugs are illegal and ...

If all drugs become legal, it could increase the rates of people becoming addicted, even increasing
the rate of fatalities. If a drug becomes legal and gets in the hands of criminals or even ordinary
people who abuse its use, can have effects that may cloud up their judgement and may end in
crimes. Legalizing drugs may even get criminals out of jail for a crime they committed using the
drug or even selling it. Even if the drug abusers and dealers don t get out, they may feel as if they
should, since the crime is now legal.
To conclude, drugs should not be legalized unless it is medically prescribed to someone by a
doctor. Legalizing all drugs may be deadly and may cause controversy. There are too many
negative side effects of drugs to legalize them. Not many positive things will happen if drugs
happen to become legal. As we were taught in grade school, everyone should keep their distance
from any drug because nothing good can come out of taking

  • 2. Forensic Evidence From A Crime Scene Procedures used to examine and recover forensic evidence from a crime scene. There are many different procedures in Forensic Science which are used to gather evidence from crime scenes, all of which vary due to no crime scene being identical. Examining the evidence from a crime scene is essential and a very important factor of Forensic Science. The evidence gathered from a crime scene will provide facts and piece together information regarding the crime committed, this information is then used to form a case and debate what happened at the crime scene. Once all the information is gathered and the facts are established, the case is then presented to a court of justice to prove or disprove any facts and evidence. Usually there are many steps when examining and recovering forensic evidence for a crime scene and these are as follow. Planning to examine a crime scene When planning to examine a crime scene all aspects should be taken into account before entering. The first thing that should happen is cordoning off the crime scene, this is predominately performed by the police and is done so to ensure the crime scene is not contaminated by public access. Once the scene is secure access is restricted to the police and forensic team. When planning to examine a crime scene key information should be available which will help identify the location, area and what type of crime has been committed. This information will enable the forensic team to competently perform a rigorous examination ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Strong Argument Goes Down Hill Susan Dinh Breanne Hager Febraury 15, 2016 When A Strong Argument Goes Down Hill In today s society, everyone has heard of the saying, Education is important and college is the key to a well off life. Some may think on the contrary that there are other routes that one may can take and still become successful in life as well. College is not the only answer to every individual. Not everybody is academically driven so the topic still appears to be very much controversial. In the essay, Is College for Everyone, Pharinet articulates her perspective on the reason why she thinks that college is not really meant for everybody. Pharinet presented her side of the argument to her audience by laying out dome persuasive techniques. She uses a mixture or logos, ethos, and pathos to defend her case. Since, Pharinet s has a background of being a professor, she has some authority over this argument because she has witnessed first hand on how college students act and interacted with college students before. However, Pharinet demonstrations slight bias perspectives though out her argument she is very narrow minded. Even though her arguments are stated clearly she is lacking on her claims she backs up her argument with biased logic, uncited statistics, and a lot of pathos. Within Pharinet essay, she does a wonderful job at presenting her views of the topic on, Is College for Everyone. However, her claims are weak due to the lack of evidence. Pharinet included a ... • 4. Challenger Disaster Essay Before the Challenger disaster NASA was a company that once was never prepared to handle disaster. NASA experienced it s first disaster in October of 1968 known as the Apollo. When the Apollo occurred NASA wasn t prepared and failed at protecting it s company and discussing the publics concerns for the disaster. NASA at this time had no exact protocol on handling disasters and acted on impulse which contributed to NASA losing their reputation. After the Apollo disaster NASA made it best efforts to create direct protocols to follow when a disaster occurs that they later was able to use when disaster struck again in the Apollo 13 disaster of 1971. It was at this time that NASA followed the protocol they set fourth for disaster that helped them handle the crisis in a manner that would protect both the company and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I argue this because NASA was not honest in all their disasters and tried to make coverups that the public later found out about and when trust is lost its hard to regain it back. The public believes they have the right to know about crisis and companies are responsible for keeping them informed so by NASA refusing to give instant and direct information about there crisis they felt NASA neglected there right to know. NASA failing to let the public know about a crisis many would argue they weren t being sensitive to how the crisis affected others besides them directly. Today NASA would need to be more honest about the disaster that occurred and make instant statement about what is happening to keep the public informed so the public can feel NASA is considering how they feel. With the change in technology since 1986 NASA would be able to discuss their crisis through media outlets such as Print,Film,Recording,Television,Radio, and most importantly the internet where they could use Social Media outlet which are huge ... Jet Propulsion Laboratory Jet Propulsion Laboratory by vpnacek | studymode.com Jet Propulsion Laboratory Harvard Business School Case 9 110 031 1.1 Should Gentry Lee recommend launch or delay for the Mars Biological Explorer (MBE) mission? Gentry Lee should recommend the launch for the MBE mission. As stated in the case study, Gentry Lee is introduced to the project with a significant amount of experience working with NASA and interplanetary exploration missions (Kaplan and Mikes, 2010). Multiple review boards took place to discuss in detail the consequences and likelihood of risks occurring. Tiger teams were established to find resolutions to existing problems weeks before the launch date. The case study eludes to a high probability of the budget ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The risk review boards also define time and cost reserves for the project. According to the case study the reserves provide a bumper for parts of the project that can go wrong, while still allowing those parts to continue to move forward and meet its intended goal (Kaplan and Mikes, 2010). 2.2 What Role does each play, and what is critical for success? 2.2.1 What is the role of the risk review board? Redmill (2002) stated that It is often claimed that the greatest value of risk analysis lies not in the values derived but in the fact that the process forces us to think deeply about, and therefore better understand the risks. The methodology and processes established as part of the risk review board were imperative for the success of the MBE program because it forced all parties involved to better understand the risks of the project. The role of the risk review board was to do a deep dive into critical risks and determine the likelihood and consequence of that risk occurring during the project. The review board is made up of skilled and highly qualified experts, they are tasked to review each risk critically and thoroughly. Although the board was made up of 12 people in JPL, NASA and the main contract, it was the responsibility of the project team engineers to effectively communicate the mitigation strategy for each risk. • 6. Water Pollution In Water The topic that was chosen was turbidity. Turbidity is the pollution in water. Turbidity is commonly associated with cloudiness or haziness in water. The pollution that studied was dirt and how it affected fish. It is important because it is killing our wildlife. There needs to get teams of people each month going out and cleaning up the water. If the dirt in the water affected the fishthen the experimental group would die. During the time of researching this topic, it was discovered how different this world has changed, the types of creatures have been affected by pollution. Too much caffeine can affect sleep. Too much algae or sediment in lakes/ streams can make them unlivable for aquatic life.Turbidity is caused by particles suspended or dissolved in water that scatter light making the water appear cloudy or murky.Turbidity is the cloudiness or haziness of a fluid caused by large numbers of individual particles that are generally invisible to the naked eye, similar to smoke in air. In this project, dirt had been used to change the conditions of the environment and see how these fish would react. During which there was an opposite tank with normal water, a filter and 5 fish. The other tank had been used with a container, dirt, and five fish as well. During this projects it was tested to see how each fish would react to the water. Most of the fish in the dirty water have died, all but 2. More of the fish died in this tank then the normal water tank. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Theme Of Alienation In Frankenstein People often find something wrong with things they do not view as normal, many times, these different aspects of the world draw ire or even hatred of those around them. Similarly, it is common that individuals within society will demean those who look, act, or sound differently. This problem spans cultures and generations, and, as with most problems, there are noble men and women who fight for the outside, the alienated, in different ways. One such method is through literature. In Mary Shelley s novel Frankenstein, the monster only wants to be accepted by the humanworld, but man constantly rejects him. It shows how people judge based on appearance and choose to alienate those who fail to conform to their expectations. Throughout the story, the monster encounters different people who all reject him because of how he appears. Victor spends two years attempting to create life, yet when he does, he immediately hates his creation: now that I had finished, but the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror and disgust filled my heart (42). It is shocking how quick Victor is to judge his own work. As soon as he comes to life and Victor sees this monstrosity that he has created, he deems him hideous and feels his past two years were a waste of time. This shows how superficial Victor is. He spends years of work creating life, but decides that the monstrosity he creates is ugly and just leaves. He abandons this monster when he is in his infancy. What Victor does is ... A large body of cross sectional data (Anstey, Lord, Williams, 1997; Anstey, Luszcz, Sanchez, 2001a; Anstey Smith, 1999; Baltes Lindenberger, 1997, 1997; Lin et al., 2011; Lindenberger Baltes, 1994; Salthouse, Hancock, Meinz, Hambrick, 1996) and longitudinal data (Anstey, Luszcz, Sanchez, 2001b; Lin et al., 2014) has demonstrated age related declines in sensory functions that often happen in tandem with declines in cognitive ability. Age related declines in sensory functions also profoundly affect quality of life (Carabellese et al., 1993). There have been a number of studies that have used both cross sectional and longitudinal methods. In two cross sectional analyses of 77 (mean age = 50.5, S.D. = 16.7) and then 127 participants (mean age = 45.9, S.D. = 15.5), Salthouse and colleagues (1996) found that the relationship between sensory functioning (near visual acuity) and cognition (working memory, associative learning, and concept identification) increased with age. With a similar cross sectional approach, Baltes and colleagues (1997) analyzed data from two large age groups: a younger adult sample (25 69 years, n = 171, mean age = 48.2, SD = 14.7) and an older adult sample (70 103 years, n = 516, mean age = 84.9, SD = 8.66). ... • 13. Analysis Of The Poem The Harbormaster By Frank O Hara To the Harbormaster : An Open Letter to God At first glance, it appears as though O Hara s poem To the Harbormaster is about a man sailing a turbulent sea, but there is far more to examine past the surface level of the poem. O Hara chooses to use the word vessel (14) in the poem. The Oxford English dictionary defines the word vessel in multiple ways. One is any structure designed to float upon and traverse the water for the carriage of persons or goods; a craft or ship of any kind. It is also defined as Said of the body, esp. as the receptacle of the soul and has origins in that context from the bible (OED). In Frank O Hara s poem To the Harbormaster, the harbormaster is actually a metaphor for God, which can be examined by unpacking the meaning of the word vessel, and illuminates the human experience of grappling with religion. In To the Harbormaster, the word vessel is meant literally as a ship. He uses nautical imagery all throughout: ship (2), moorings (3), tide (5), rudder (8), hull (10), cordage (10), reeds (13), and finally vessel (14). In this way, and for the metaphor of someone at sea throughout, at the surface level of the poem, vessel is used to describe a ship. However, when further examining the word vessel as meaning a body or receptacle for the soul, and the biblical origins associated with that meaning, one is able to find several examples to back up an alternate and deeper meaning. There needs to be more funding available to build more gear to income or subsidized housing and all levels of government need to take action. The parents are unable to focus on the other areas of their lives when they are unable to find decent housing. As a result of the housing boom from 2005 to 2008 this had caused prices of houses to increase around 30% within that time and I don t think that employment incomes went up that amount. You just want to be outside, regardless of what you are doing. Are you? Nope. You are sitting in your car, stuck in traffic because your evening commute home has tripled in time due to the traffic. This is a common side effect of hosting the Olympic Games. On the other hand, the influx of people coming into the city does wonders for the local economy. Every few years, countries throw mind blowing amounts of money at the International Olympic Committee(IOC) for the right to host the Olympic Games, but is it worth it for the country and its citizens? In 2015, Boston was in contention to host the 2024 summer Games, but ultimately lost out to Paris, much to many Bostonians delight. Was their reaction justified, or did they just miss out on a great opportunity? The monetary costs of hosting the Olympic Games are astronomical. The most evident cost of hosting the Olympic Games are the monetary costs that come with hosting the Games. At the Summer Games in 2008, Beijing spent at least US$100 million on the Opening Ceremonies alone, according to Rishav Bista, Assistant Professor of Economics at Marshall University. That is just where the costs start. As I stated earlier, if we learn as a team then we will be more apt to see growth and development in our students because we will then be on the same thinking path of student achievement. 3. Assess effectiveness of all students learning at high levels based on results. PLCs judge their effectiveness on outcomes related to the holistic development of their students. In India, Hindu religious leaders all decreed that a girl should be married soon after the beginning of puberty (Tikoo pg 23), and that the age of ten is considered puberty. For Hindu girls, this means that they have little chance at education past this age, and truly many do not even receive education before. One reason for this is that many prospective in laws would not want an educated girl, since they believed that she would not want to be a virtual servant then (Tikoo pg 26). The plight of Women becomes very apparent in the sphere of marriage. Women are expected to marry, and many call it the aim of her existence (Billington pg 22). There is a general belief of parents that if their daughter does not marry, she will go to hell, and any Woman in this society which does not marry is not seen as a real Woman. Thus it is said that The child is endowed with unknown powers which can guide us to a radiant future. (The Absorbent Mind ,P2) During the observation of children at Casa Dei Bambini, Dr. Maria Montessori discovered that children prefer work to play. They were able to achieve a self integration through this work. She found that the aggressive and destructive children became calm and peaceful after working with the materials. She concluded that through work the child seemed to get fulfillment of some internal need which made him normalized. Montessori found out that independence is necessary to the child s normal development. The child uses his independence to listen to his inner guide for actions that can be useful to him and one who is served is actually limited in his independence. It is well said that we habitually serve children; and this is not only an act of servility towards them but it is dangerous, since it tends to suffocate their useful, spontaneous activity. (Course manual P.40). We can help the child attain independence by giving opportunity for him to work with the materials by himself, by directing him towards a given end to develop his will, by giving him constructive work to help him in developing discipline, by letting him know and have an understanding of what is good and bad and also giving him freedom to reveal himself completely by playing only passive role. • 40. The Future of Liquefied Natural Gas The production of natural gas has increased over the past decade along with its consumption. However, some of the top consumers consist of countries such as Japan and South Korea, where natural gas is not produced at a sufficient amount domestically. As a result, the need for liquefied natural gas, also known as LNG, has increased. This need for LNG comes from the concept of condensing natural gasto its liquid state so that its volume is reduced to 1/600th of its original volume, making it easier to transport (Source, 2 ). Plus, the demand for natural gas in countries such as Japan and South Korea is starting to increase the need for LNG since most natural gas producing nations are too far for pipelines. Therefore, LNG is becoming a viable option for the transportation of natural gas. In this paper, the creation of LNG will be discussed to show how LNG is becoming a major factor in the energy industry and the global economy. In the creation of LNG, many technological advances to the conversion process from gas to liquid have been essential to its increasing popularity in natural gas exchanging nations. The primary idea behind the creation of LNG is condensing natural gas after it has been removed from a deep subsurface reservoir. This condensing process requires an LNG plant. While there is not a standard for the components of LNG plants, there are some major elements that most of the plants contain. These elements consist of 5 different sections as shown below. Gas ... • 53. Nt1310 Unit 5 Report The receiving coil was connected in parallel to the coupling capacitors of 100nF. These capacitors helps the coils to improve coupling co efficient. Fig 4 Receiving end In fig. 4, the AC signal from the coil is passed through a Cockroft Walton (CW) voltage multiplier. A CW multiplier generates a high DC voltage from a low voltage AC. Hence, it can rectify the received AC voltage, as well as, step up the relatively low voltage. This is a classic multistage diode/capacitor voltage multiplier, which is economically efficient at the same time. The stages can be increased or decreased with ease to get desired output. The final voltage output of the stages, where N is the number of stages Vo=2NVp=NVpp.............. (4) This DC... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Very high resistance value is required to attain the 5V DC output using this regulator. Although, similar topologies using MAX756 or MAX757 IC might be an optimum solution to this problem. It steps up voltage within 0.7V 5.5V to 2.7V 5.5V [11]. MAX757 can be adjustment according to the requirement, whereas MAX756 gives fixed 5V DC output. Fig 7 A 5V DC boost regulator using MAX757 IC In future, this system can be built within the phones and thus no external device will be required to enjoy its service. The coil can be built using PCB boards which can be installed within the mobile phones. Two such phones will then be able to share the power within them using this technology. VIII. CONCLUSION In this paper, we have described a mechanism to transfer a low power DC voltage from one mobile to another for the purpose of charging the phone. We have dealt with coupling coils and their resonance. Colpitts Oscillator, Full Bridge Rectifier and Voltage Regulator circuits have been implemented. This project gives us a new and convenient option of recharging our phones at times when charging from a phone remains the only option because of the lack of having proper charging outlets. This simple idea is a feasible and inexpensive one for mobile ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
