Netflix And The Movie Rental Industry
Before becoming a force in the movie streaming and internet TV industry, Netflix was originally in
the movie rental industry. With competitors such as Blockbuster, Hollywood Entertainment and
Redbox, Netflix rose to be the leading Internet provider for Internet television and streaming thus
forcing Blockbuster and Hollywood Entertainment out of business. With the transformation of
consumer viewing in the American television industry, Netflix has over 75 million members who
stream more than 125 million hours of television shows and movies per day (Statista, 2016). Their
repertoire includes movies and original series that allow consumers to view at anytime and on any
screen in which Internet connectivity to the Internet is provided. In addition, Netflix continues to
deliver DVDs within the United States to the homes of consumers.
One critical issue was that customers did not like the increased subscription fees (Parnell, 2014). Mr.
Hastings proposed a plan to split the company into two separate entities in order to focus on DVD by
mail services and streaming services individually. Customers were not happy because this would
generate two different accounts to manage if customer had both services. Over 800,000 subscribers
canceled their subscriptions due to the proposed split.
The industry in which Netflix competes include both video rental and internet streaming. Initially their
competition was Blockbuster, Hollywood Entertainment and Redbox. Both Blockbuster and

An Essay About A Mate
Mate. My mother used to tell me the definition of mate was your destined love true love to say the
least. A person that will stick with you through the thick and thin, no matter the destination. A mate is
supposed to protect you from the harmful ways of the world. A mate was supposed to fight with you
side by side. A mate is supposed to love you no matter the cost. I never really thought about mates or
well superficially my mate. I thought I was always going to be alone, fighting my own battles and
defeating my own wars with no else s help but only my own. But I guess life has its mysterious ways
of confusing the living life out of me and possibly my mate to. The hand on my shoulder sent bolts of
electricity to run out through my body starting from the tip of my toes to all the way to the tip of my
fingers. My body fell on infinite bliss. Even though this touch erupted fireworks in my stomach this
touch also calmed me, comforted me in many ways than one Physically, Mentally and Emotionally. I
felt safe and free but that didn t last long. The hand on my shoulder slipped off slowly and gently but
that action only ripped away all the bliss and comfort from it, bringing back the cold to my body. I
turned around slowly facing the owner of the hand that was touching me only moments go but it felt
like his last touch was months ago, what was this person touch doing to me? The owner of the hand
had its mouth slightly open from shock, his eyes were flooded with emotion, confusion

Ee Cummings Research Paper
Edward Estlin Cummings, better known as E.E. Cummings, was a well known American poet who
lived between October 14, 1894 and September 3, 1962. His long career spanned all the way from
1904, when he was ten years old, up to his death in 1962. At the time of his death, Cummings was the
second most widely read poet in the United States, after Robert Frost. His countless contributions to
American poetry as well as his immense influence on American poetry is evident to this very day.
E.E. Cummings was born on October 14, 1894 in Cambridge, Massachusetts to Rebecca Haswell
Clarke and Edward Cummings. E.E. Cummings father was a professor at Harvard University, where
his son later went to college. As a kid, Cummings wrote poetry as early as the age ... Show more

Cummings had a unique career and writing style. Over time, he developed his writing style to become
an innovative poet because of his lack of stylistic and structural conformity. After publishing quality
poems for much of his career, he eventually found wide recognition. In his work, Cummings
experimented radically with form, punctuation, spelling, and syntax, and by abandoning traditional
techniques and structures to create a new, highly idiosyncratic means of poetic expression, he
challenged the status quo in literature and poetry. This is highly reflective of his writing, however,
later in his career, Cummings was often criticized for becoming more conservative and less
progressive with his work. E.E. Cummings ultimately refined his signature style and avoided pressing
his work toward further evolution. Nevertheless, he attained great popularity, especially among young
readers, for the simplicity of his language, his playful mode, and his attention to subjects such as war
and sex. The poet and critic Randall Jarrell once said that Cummings is one of the most individual
poets who ever lived, and though it sometimes seems so, it is not just his vices and exaggerations, the
defects of his qualities, that make a writer popular. But, primarily, Mr. Cummings s poems are loved
because they are full of sentimentally, of sex, of more or less improper jokes, of elementary lyric
insistence. Clearly, Cummings work was rebellious and contrarian to traditional literature. E.E.
Cummings was part of the Modern literary period. Other famous American poets from this era include
Robert Frost, Langston Hughes, E. St. V. Millay, Audre Lord, Walt Whitman, and Edwin Arlington.
This literary period had a profound impact on Cummings work and even world events influenced his
poems. Over the course of E.E. Cummings career, several major world events took place. World War I
and World War II both occurred during

The Pros And Consequences Of Malaria
Introduction
Infectious diseases are the leading cause of death all over the world [1]. Malaria, also called
plasmodium infection, is one of the most important human infectious diseases threatening the lives of
millions of people every year. According to WHO malaria report, globally, an estimated 3.2 billion
people in 97 countries and territories are at risk of being infected with malaria and developing disease,
and 1.2 billion are at high risk [2]. Although the disease has been eradicated in most areas, it s still
widespread in some regions [2]. The biggest challenges in controlling malaria disease are the
emergence of anti malarial drug resistance and insecticide resistance in parasite and mosquito,
respectively [3 5]. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop novel intervention strategies such as
vaccines to reduce the burden of malaria morbidity and mortality. Malaria is commonly associated
with poverty and has a major negative effect on economic development [6]. Oral vaccines offer
exciting possibilities for reducing the burden of diseases especially in developing regions of the world.
Oral vaccines are inexpensive, easily administered (needle free) and capable of being stored and
transported without refrigeration [7]. In contrast to injected vaccines, oral vaccines are mucosal
targeted, which cause stimulation of systemic as well as mucosal ... Show more content on

The Power Of The Koch Brothers
Charles and David Koch, the Koch brothers , and their network allegedly raised over $400 million
dollars in the 2012 election cycle. Most of that money was donated to the Republican party. For 2016,
the Koch brothers are planning to spend even more money nearly a billion dollars. So, who are the
Koch brothers? What do they stand for?* And how powerful are they in the world of politics?
Well, the Koch brothers both tie for 6th richest person in the world, with a net worth of 42 billion
dollars each. They are both the CEOs of Koch Industries, mainly based in oil and petroleum
production. (no relation to coca cola) Worth about $115 billion dollars, Koch Industries is the second
most profitable private company in America. Some of the most well known subsidiary brands include

Charles Koch draws inspiration from history s free market champions like Alex de Tocqueville and
Adam Smith. He says the principles of a free society... have shaped [his life] and America itself .
David Koch, too, shares these ideals, and ran as the Libertarian Party s Vice President nominee in
1980.
Reporters speculate that their political beliefs were shaped by an anti Communist upbringing during
the McCarthy Era. Their father worked abroad with Soviet engineers in the 1930s, some of whom
were later brutally purged by Stalin. As a result of the violence, the elder Koch returned to America
staunchly anti communist, which undoubtedly contributed to his sons suspicions of big government.
The Kochs libertarian interests don t strictly follow either the Republican or Democratic ticket. The
brothers have contributed modest sums of money to liberal organizations, and voiced support for
things like gay marriage, abortion rights, and marijuana

Evolution And Virality Of Memes
Evolution and Virality of Memes
How have memes evolved and why do they go viral? Memes did not originate from the internet
contrary to popular belief, but have actually been appearing in culture for centuries. The main
difference between internet memes and pre internet memes is the medium in which they go viral. A
meme has two definitions; Dawkins definition, and internet memes. Charles Dawkins first coined the
term meme in 1976 in his book The Selfish Gene, and was referring to cultural ideas, beliefs, fashion,
practices, etc. In his book he came up with a theory that memes develops similar to how genes spread
in organisms. Memes transmit from one mind to another through speech, writing, or any form of
communication. Likewise genes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This square dates back to 79 AD in the ruins of Pompeii, where Jewish people inscribed it on
doorways and various objects to protect from evil. Later, in about the Third to Fifth century, Christians
adopted this practice as their own. The meme had spread and mutated to accommodate both cultures.
Likewise, Sator Square has still survived to this day. However, it s not as popular as it once used to be
nor used as much. Additionally Kilroy was Here is another meme that spread similarly to internet
memes, and the sator square. James J. Kilroy created it during World War II. He inspected the bottoms
of warships under construction, and after he had completed the inspection he would write in chalk
Kilroy was Here on the bottom of them. The chalk consequently, would be erased too easily though,
so he scrawled Kilroy was Here in crayon on the bottom of the ship instead. The image that s
associated with this phrase is a bald headed man with a large nose peeking over a ledge however,
predates the phrase. There s conflicting ideas to who drew it first, but most people think the British
cartoonist George Edward Chatterton drew it in 1938. Somehow this image united with the phrase,
and formed the Kilroy was Here meme. Subsequently this spawned a joke within the GIs of America.
It became a challenge to place this phrase and picture in unusual places, and is said to be on Mt.
Everest, the Statue of Liberty, and on the moon. Both of these

Pai s Opinions Of Leadership In Whale Rider
During the first scene in Whale Rider, the protagonist Pai is born into a tribe that depends on her twin
brother on becoming chief, but with his and their mothers death during childbirth, her grandfather
Koro wished in his heat that I (Pai) had never been born). Though his opinion of Pai changes as she
grows and they become very close. Being the chief of the community, Paka takes tradition and culture
very seriously Paka believes that Pai s twin brother was born to be the chief, though the audience finds
out that it was Pai s duty to become chief. But while Pai shows this clearly, Koro s antiquated ways
and beliefs makes it difficult for her to assume her position as chief.
Due to his commitment to the old ways, Koro is unable to accept ... Show more content on

Koro s opinion of leadership is out dated and sexist while Pai s opinions are modern and suit the new
ways of the world today. Koro believes that leading is a man s job and a woman s duty lies within the
house. Pai on the other hand learns that she is just as capable as the other tribe boys and while she is
not allowed to attend the school Koro is running to find a new chief, she seeks out the help of Rawiri
and excels in the leadership qualities Koro is so desperately trying to find within the boys. Nanny does
not show much of an opinion about leadership throughout the movie, though she does have similar
ideas to Koro, You might be the boss out there... But I m the boss in this kitchen. While she is not as
against a female leader like Koro, she still has an out dated opinion of a woman s duty within the
house. Rawiri shows a lot of belief in Pai, especially when he agrees to teach her how to use the
Taiaha behind Koro s back. Though this does not fully display his ideas on leadership, it does prove to
the audience that he believes in Pai and her ability to lead, therefor showing an understanding of
modern ideals about leadership contrary to Paka s judgment. Paka s ideas on leadership barely change
throughout the movie until Pai goes to the extreme level of riding the whale out to sea. By doing this
she ultimately becomes The Whale Rider , and Koro s traditional view of leadership changes
completely. In one of the last scenes, when Pai is lying in the hospital bed with Paka next to her he
begins to talk to her, apologising for his ways, Wise leader, forgive me. I am just a fledgling new to
flight . By saying this he is implying that he trying to change and accept the modern leadership ideals

he or she needs to focus on having the right body, building up physical and mental strength, and lastly
being ready to put in crucial hours of training. The first step of becoming the best female gymnast is to
make sure the athletes body is healthy. Being on a dietary plan is what most athletic coaches
recommend. For example, he or she typically has a nutrition coach to maintain their balances. The job
of the nutrition coach is to make sure the athlete s are filling their bodies with nutritional foods.
Usually the nutrition coach keeps a chart of what gymnast put in their bodies. For example, athletes
would eat fruits instead of junk food. The average amount of water they consume a day during training

Electrospinning is a convenient method for fabricating various nanofibrous scaffolds for biomedical
applications. In electrospinning process, a conductive collector device plays a critical role in
determining the shape and the structure of the nanofibrous scaffold; however, the preparation of the
collector is often complex. In this study, a novel, flexible, and inexpensive approach based on pencil
on paper method was developed for preparing collectors used in electrospinning. Graphite is a
conductive material widely used as a component in the pencil core. A series of collectors were

The collector was fabricated using a common 5B pencil and A4 paper. Paper was tailored to suitable
size, and different patterns were drawn using a pencil. Subsequently, the paper was folded in different
shapes as collectors. Poly (ε caprolactone) (PCL, MW = 60,000) was dissolved in
dichloromethane/ethanol (v:v =3:1) to form a homogeneous solution with a concentration of 15 wt%,
and polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP, MW = 1,300,000) was dissolved in ethanol at a concentration of 8

Society likes to establish names and categories for everything, whether it is race, gender, social status
or in this case intelligence, there are multiple ways to classify and identify people. Distinguishing
terms are often used to help make identification easier. Idiot, mentally deficient, and retard are
common terms that were previously used in association with mental retardation (Parmenter, 2011).

people who express a restriction in their intelligence. In order to gain a better perspective of

Children are normally dependent on their caregivers, but having an intellectual disability increases the
child s dependency. Caregivers have to adapt and learn to overcome the daily obstacles encountered
when raising a child with an intellectual disability. The complexity of raising a child with disabilities
has been analyzed in several studies. One study in particular focused on the process mothers
experienced while raising their disabled child. 11 mothers of disabled children were interviewed
during the study to collect data. The results suggested that mothers gradually embraced their child s
disability. It was determined there are three distinct points in the journey of raising a child with
disabilities. The first point was identified as the beginning and initial impact of the diagnosis,
secondly, making sense of the circumstances and lastly embracing each other and growing together
(Lee Recchia 2015) . Based on the perspective of the mother s in the study experience with disability
was not viewed as something to overcome at one specific time but as continuous challenges to deal
with within their everyday lives (Lee Recchia, 2015). Physical, behavioral, social and emotional

massive infrastructure investment throughout many places such as China, Malaysia, Indonesia, the

Political:
In the past three decades, project finance has contained some of the largest individual investments,
including: British Petroleum s financing of its interests in the North Sea (totaling $972 million in

Exxon, British Petroleum, Mobil Oil, Phillips Petroleum, Union Oil, and Amerada Hess (1978). Each
of these investments represent capital expenditures that exceed the ability of a single firm to finance.
However, through a joint venture arrangement, the higher risks more than normal that absorbed by the
capital employed could be managed.

A Summary OfIt Always Costs By David Suzuki Summary
ugh Draft 3 David Suzuki s essay, It Always Costs argues that technology is always accompanied my
negative repercussions. Suzuki clearly emphasizes the negative effects that technology presents by
objectifying the damaging nature of scientific innovation. Throughout his essay, Suzuki supports his
arguments with specific examples. To justify his reasoning, the author uses the case of DDT, otherwise
known as dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane. This chemical compound is used as an insecticide to
eliminate the population of malaria carrying mosquitoes, which it did effectively, and saved millions
of lives. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, complications arose, which led to an

Scientific innovations have caused numerous side effects, which Suzuki explains throughout his essay,
but when he links his ideas to examples, such as biomagnification, he reinforces himself. Every piece
of evidence Suzuki presents is always explained effectively, he will explain why the example proves
his point without loosing sight of his end argument. The arguments are all very well thought out and
relevant to his essay. Continually, David Suzuki always supports his propositions with authentic proof
to relay his stance on technology. David Suzuki supports his argument with specific examples and he
rationalises each one; however, he overlooks the important detail that technology is beneficial to our
society. Throughout the essay the author repeatedly mentions the negative effects technology has, but
he never provides an argument for the advantages of new innovations. Although technology may have
its faults, we depend on it as a society. As Suzuki states in his essay, Once technology is in place, it
becomes impossible to do without it and we can t go back to doing things the old way . Without a
constant cycle of new innovations and technology, as a society we would digress. Everyday we
depend on technology, it is an imperative factor to surviving. The numerous benefits of technology are
endless: improved environmental understandings, cancer research and cures, as well as a better
economy. Since there are no explicit references to the advantages,

Essay Constitution And Law In America
Constitution s Significance with Law in America
The definition of constitution is the act or process of composing, setting up or establishing (Websters

established our governemnt and function. I am reminded of why they came over here. I think of the
Constitution as the mission statement for the American government. America s set of standards. It
gaurantees that we cannot stray from the vision of what we stand for. The constitution to me stands
basically, for freedom of rights for all. All men are created equal.

It reflects their intentions of its implementation.
Their principals still affect our modern laws of today. I think that its pretty impressive that the
constitution could survive hundreds of years of generations, wars, financial depressions, and
technologies chamges and not be too old fashioned for today s ways.
The reason why it still stands strong is because its purpose has always been the same. To make sure
that new laws do not contridict the philosophy that all men are created equal and should be able to
retain that freedom. The purpose of the Constitution is to regulate modern laws in every state. To make
sure that laws do not take away from peoples rights.
The Constitution still to this day carries great significance because it is our basis as citizens, law
enforcers and law makers to creating new laws to adjust to our always changing society. If our
President, the chief executive of the United States of America, strays from the constitutional focus
because of unruly conduct or interests, the constitution garauntees our right to override and fire him.

Marble And Depicting 10 Individual Reliefs
The piece, Sarcophagus of Junius Bassus, is constructed of marble and depicts 10 individual reliefs,
separated by columns. The figures in each subsection occupies most of the frame , with each figure s
head nearing the top of the low hanging ceiling . This height leads to non idyllic proportions
throughout the piece, with some people standing only 5 heads tall and with heads thicker than their
torsos. This disproportion leads to the belief that human anatomy was not the priority of the sculptor,
but rather the narrative of the overall piece, with no individual subsection dominating the composition.
The first subsection in the top left shows a bearded man and his right hand outstretched to the left side
of the canvas, with his other hand hovering over a kneeling child, with another man standing behind
him and some small animal, possibly a lamb, standing beneath the outstretched hand. According to
Stokstad, this may be a depiction of the Binding of Isaac, in which Abraham passes the test of faith
and willingly goes to sacrifice his firstborn son, Isaac, before divine intervention gives him a lamb as a
replacement (Stokstad 168). This conclusion is consistent with the depiction, allowing the viewer to
conclude that the outstretched hand is likely holding a knife and the figure present in the background
is an angel, delivering the lamb in tribute. The subsection below the Binding of Isaac shows a seated
man with a face of anguish, with two others standing over him, apparently

Bar And Bat Mizvah In Jewish Culture
Some of the most precious and memorable times in religious communities are when children take
place in a religious ceremony and ritual. For the Jewish community, the bar and bat mitzvahs are very
special and represent one of these cherished and unforgettable times: This is about becoming
something. You re at a time in your life when important changes are happening to you and in you
(Feinstein).
To begin, bar and bat mitzvah is the Hebrew Jewish way of saying the son and daughter of the
commandment . According to the Jewish law, a bar and bat mitzvah ceremony is recognition that a
child has reached spiritual maturity and can now take on the responsibilities of an adult: Spiritual
maturity is the ability to experience the depth and complexity of life ... Show more content on

During the service, the bar or bat mitzvah will lead prayers, chant songs, and read from the Torah.
Next, the parents will usually say a speech at the end to recognize their child for entering a state of
spiritual maturity. The modern bar and bat mitzvahs are usually in the morning and are followed by a
party at night; however, more traditional Jews will have it on the sundown Friday and will not have a
party after. This is because they are not permitted to drive or play music on the Shabbat. Depending on
the family, the party after the service ranges in scale and suspense and they can take place in houses,
halls or restaurants. The parties usually include a meal, speeches and dancing; bar and bat mitzvah
ceremonies can be compared to wedding styles. The child will most likely choose some sort of centre
piece and theme for the tables as well as hiring a dj or a band: A popular feature at bar and bat mitzvah
parties is the candle lighting ceremony, in which the bar or bat mitzvah child lights a series of candles,
choosing to honor different friends and family members with each candle.

Temperance Character Traits
Temperance is one of the most important character traits for a person to have. The character trait
temperance involves having self regulation and self control. People who are temperate are generally
grateful for what they have. This is because temperance is strength against excessive. It is word that
can be used to describe people who do not overindulge. I consider myself to be an extremely
temperate person, the reason being can be traced back to my upbringing. My family was always
comfortable financially growing up. We never lived indulgently, however we never had to worry about
when our next meal would be. This upbringing always kept me grounded. My role model for this trait
though made sure I would never take for granted what I had. My grandmother had come over on a
boat for Ireland. When she and her family came, they had next to nothing. However, they relished the
chance to live in America and have a chance to live the American dream. They knew it would not
come easy, but they would have to work hard. Because of these believes, my grandmother vowed
never to be ungrateful for anything. One year on my birthday, I was miffed that I hadn t received a
certain present. Though I had received many great gifts, I wasn t be appreciative due to my anger.
Upset with my behavior, my grandmother decided that she would teach me a very valuable lesson.
The next morning she woke me up very earlier, and said we were taking a surprise trip. We drove
around, and ended up in the more shady

Divantages And Dimerits Of Virtual Laboratory
Merits and Dimerits of Virtual Laboratories in Engineering
Laboratories are important component in engineering and engineering education. In order to learn
something by practical, laboratories are vital. With the significant increase of Information Technology
(IT) or now well known as Information Communication and Technology (ICT), virtual laboratories
have its attention among the engineers. Virtual laboratories are used as alternative way or a
supplement to the physical and real laboratories.
What is virtual laboratory? People might think that virtual is something that cannot be seen. There are
a concept with many ramifications about virtual laboratory in physical sciences. These may relate to
the purpose a virtual laboratory is seeking to address, its mode of delivery, the scope of delivery, the
experience of both students and tutors, and indeed the suitability of an activity for implementation in a
virtual laboratory. The concept is also making an excitement of opinion, both for and against, in many
educational circles. In the most general terms, a virtual laboratory is a computer based activity where
students interact with an experimental apparatus or other activity via a computer interface. Typical
examples which come to mind include a simulation of an experiment, whereby a student interacts with

The Evolution Of Jerusalem As A Sacred Space
The Evolution of Jerusalem as a Sacred Space The present day Jerusalem is not only a religious center
for the three major religions Judaism, Christianity, and Islam but also one of the most disputed spaces
due to the Israeli Palestinian conflict. While the city s religious significance alone attracts enough
pilgrims to support its economy, modern Jerusalem prospers with the additional tourists intrigued by
the historical landmarks, such as the Western Wall and the Dome of the Rock. However, rather than a
miracle happened overnight, the social and economic status of Jerusalem was obtained through a
process of evolution, parts of which were recorded by the Hebrew Bible. Even though the Bible may
be a collection of narratives constructed by the ancient cultures to explain the origins of life, and thus
are more mythical than realistic, many biblical accounts are actually based on genuine historic events
and can be used for references. In the case of Jerusalem, which was merely a minor Canaanite city
state before the intrusion of the Israelites, the Bible presents evidence that the city, with its suitable
geographic characteristics, gradually developed into a sacred place of great political and religious
significance over history. In particular, two factors differentiate Jerusalem from the profane space
around it: David s choice to designate the city as the capital of the United Kingdom of Israel and
Judah, and Solomon s construction of the Temple, which housed the Ark of the

Relation Regress Argument Analysis
In this essay, I will explain and evaluate the relation regress argument against resemblance
nominalism, by arguing in favour of the relation regress argument. Firstly, I will define what
resemblance nominalism and the relation regress argument is. Then, I will look at the plausibility of
and concerns about Russell s relation regress argument, by comparing it to various counterexamples
which argue in favour of resemblance nominalism and are against the relation regress argument.
Finally, I will demonstrate why the relation regress argument seems more plausible than arguments in
favour of resemblance nominalism.
Resemblance nominalism is a type of nominalism which describes that some objects resemble each
other and others do not. The resemblance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Qualitative economy would be to restrict the kinds of objects to the least, while quantitative economy
is to restrict the number of objects in each kind to the least. It is quantitatively more economical to
admit to resemblance universals than to hypothesise a universal for each resemblance, according to D.
Nolan. So, only the relation of resemblance is accepted as a universal. This seems counter intuitive, to
accept the existence of universals only when it suits an argument and to decry its existence outside of
that. Therefore, it seems more plausible to admit to the existence of universals in general, not just as

Character Analysis Of Adora s Relationship With Joya
Adora s troubled relationship with Joya caused her to develop a serious pathology, called Munchausen
by proxy syndrome, which leads her to an obsessive search for external approval. Because of her
condition, she is unable to experience remorse for her actions or empathy towards her daughters
sufferings provoked by her detached behaviour and destructive tendencies. This disease pushes Adora
to seek attentions through the systematic sickening of her offspring, which allows her to show the
world what a caring and loving mother she is. She uses nurturance, an intrinsically female capacity, to
perform the maternal role which can lead her to obtain recognition. In this way, Adora turns maternal
watchfulness in an obsession, displaying the hurtful force of extreme dedication and nurturance. Adora
s psychological disorder devastates her daughter s and her own life, and serves as evidence of the
destructiveness of disturbed mother daughter relationship. The most noticeable proof of the
seriousness of her condition is Marian s death, which shows Adora s complete and insane dedication
to her own purpose. This exemplifies how mental illness overpowers appropriate maternal behaviour.
While she acts as an all powerful mother in the private sphere of the house, her own reign, Adora
tends to hide her oppressive force in public. The caring ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Rhetorical Analysis Of Jfk Speech
In 1961, John Fitzgerald Kennedy delivered one of the most influential speeches in history.
Throughout his speech, Kennedy employs many rhetorical devices that further his appeal for
unification. Kennedy establishes his credibility as soon as he steps to the podium. For I have sworn
before you and Almighty God... Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States of America, proved
credible and true to the American people through his distinguished leadership. Kennedy discusses the
trials and triumphs of the United States of America in what will go down in history as a great
demonstration of unification. Throughout the text, he emphasizes the theme of patriotism and
greatness as well as prosperity in order to unify the nation through confident eyes. His emotional yet
logical appeal to America s patriotism helps further his argument towards national unification.
Kennedy s use of rhetorical devices allows him to maintain a conversational tone yet a clear and
compelling structure.
Kennedy successfully employs many rhetorical devices into his speech. For example, Kennedy uses
the literary device chiasmus when he utters, ...ask not what your country can do for you ask what you
can do for your country. He employs this literary technique again when he claims, Let us never
negotiate out of fear. But let us never fear to negotiate. Kennedy most frequently employs anaphora
when he repeats again and again, To those old allies... To those new states... To those people... To
those nations... He uses this anaphoric phrase to employ a rhetorical device while, at the same time,
applying emotional appeal to bring his speech back to the theme of unification. Another example of
anaphora as well as parallelism is when Kennedy repeats the phrase Let both sides... five times. These
rhetorical techniques use repetition and the reversal of certain words/phrases to make Kennedy s
dialect clear and compelling to his audience.
Midway through the speech, Kennedy asks the rhetorical question Can we forge against these enemies
a grand and global alliance, North and South, East and West, that can assure a more fruitful life for all
mankind? Will you join in that historic effort? Kennedy uses this rhetorical question to drive the

Dominant Position of a Company
According to the European competition case law, a dominant position is defined as the power of a firm
to behave to an appreciable extent independently of its competitors, customers and consumers . It is
obvious that a firm or several firms which hold a dominant position can determine price, the amount
of production, supply and this is because these firms can act independently of their competitors and
customers. As a result, dominant position can lead to the market power and in this situation a firm or
several firms have an ability to individually make a big influence on the price and total quantity
produced which could result to the market failure. But does this definition make an economic sense
and how it should be interpreted in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, in order to determine the definition of dominant position in monopoly, at first we need to
understand the basic aspects of it. Monopoly is a situation when a certain agent is the only one who
supplies a particular good, of course, it is obvious that this market has a lack of economic competition.
In monopoly a company has a much bigger profit than it could expect in competitive market, because
that only firm regulates all the prices and services for that certain good. As a result, it can raise the
price and maximize its profit without worrying of losing its customers. So, the dominant position in
monopoly is a market with a single agent which has a power to operate independently and has an
ability to make a big influence on the prices and production.
Finally, to do the same in oligopoly we also need to understand the basic aspects of it. Oligopoly is the
market share of several firms which together make a big influence to the price or other outcomes of a
certain market, however the difference between monopoly and oligopoly is that in oligopoly firms do
not operate independently, because then they could lose some of their customers to their competitors.
That is why several dominant firms always try to cooperate together and sometimes they even make
some secret agreements in order to maximize their profits. So, the dominant position in oligopoly is
the market share of several dominant firms who have an ability to make big

The Importance Of An Organization Having A Pre Planned Budget
In this research paper I will be explaining the importance of an organization having a pre planned
budget. Without the proper budgeting systems most organizations probably would end up spending
more than their means which could ultimately cause a great amount of hardship. First let me start off
by defining what a budget is, a budget can be defined as the process of creating a plan to spend an
organization or individual s money. (Peavler, 2016) It s always best to create a plan for a budget that is
for six months to a year down the road. Spending plans are an entrepreneur s arrangement of activity
for the business firm. Without a financial plan, the entrepreneur is actually shooting oblivious with

made. Fixed and Static on the other hand is a predetermined amount that is unable to be changed if
things do not go as plan that is what makes the flexible budget more advantageous. (Davoren, 2016)
The business environment around you changes quickly; thusly, you should adjust to these progressions
to make your business an example of overcoming adversity. Utilizing an flexible budgeting plan
places you in a superior position to oblige these progressions, make convenient operational alterations
and take the best advantages from circumstances that exist in outside situations. For instance, in the
event that you run a transportation and dispatch administration, you might see the expanding expense
of gas and that travel costs are over spending plan. In the event that you utilize an adaptable spending
plan approach, you could name options and set them set up to diminish the expense of these
expansions. (Davoren, 2016) According to the source Strategic Finance author Renita Wolf states that

The Uses Of Tissue And Skin
The use of fibroblasts in skin substitutes is a crucial step toward better burn wound healing.
Fibroblasts, which are naturally found in the dermis layer, are in charge of synthesizing and secreting
the components that make up the extracellular matrix. In order for the skin to heal properly, one
component that is especially important is collagen, for it plays a major part in the structure of the skin.
Lack of collagen synthesis during healing can lead to raised scar, resulting in poor skin function and
appearance[18].
TransCyte is a temporary, bioactive synthetic covering with a similar structure to Biobrane, with an
addition of fibroblasts. Like Biobrane, it is also used as covering for burn patients before autografting
or for patients with partial thickness burns who do not require autografts[11][12]. TransCyte consists
of two layers, a silicone outer layer and an inner nylon mesh seeded with fibroblasts. The outer
silicone layer is a semipermeable membrane, containing a series of laser punched holes that allow
excess fluids to be drained[13]. The inner nylon mesh membrane is coated with porcine collagen
peptides, creating the base onto where the neonatal fibroblasts can be cultured, since collagen is a
main component of the skin. In order to seed the fibroblasts within the nylon mesh, the entire
membrane, silicone outer layer included, was placed inside a specially designed bioreactor. This
bioreactor provided a continuous, constant flow of fibroblasts at a rate of about

  • 2. Netflix And The Movie Rental Industry Before becoming a force in the movie streaming and internet TV industry, Netflix was originally in the movie rental industry. With competitors such as Blockbuster, Hollywood Entertainment and Redbox, Netflix rose to be the leading Internet provider for Internet television and streaming thus forcing Blockbuster and Hollywood Entertainment out of business. With the transformation of consumer viewing in the American television industry, Netflix has over 75 million members who stream more than 125 million hours of television shows and movies per day (Statista, 2016). Their repertoire includes movies and original series that allow consumers to view at anytime and on any screen in which Internet connectivity to the Internet is provided. In addition, Netflix continues to deliver DVDs within the United States to the homes of consumers. One critical issue was that customers did not like the increased subscription fees (Parnell, 2014). Mr. Hastings proposed a plan to split the company into two separate entities in order to focus on DVD by mail services and streaming services individually. Customers were not happy because this would generate two different accounts to manage if customer had both services. Over 800,000 subscribers canceled their subscriptions due to the proposed split. The industry in which Netflix competes include both video rental and internet streaming. Initially their competition was Blockbuster, Hollywood Entertainment and Redbox. Both Blockbuster and ... • 4. An Essay About A Mate Mate. My mother used to tell me the definition of mate was your destined love true love to say the least. A person that will stick with you through the thick and thin, no matter the destination. A mate is supposed to protect you from the harmful ways of the world. A mate was supposed to fight with you side by side. A mate is supposed to love you no matter the cost. I never really thought about mates or well superficially my mate. I thought I was always going to be alone, fighting my own battles and defeating my own wars with no else s help but only my own. But I guess life has its mysterious ways of confusing the living life out of me and possibly my mate to. The hand on my shoulder sent bolts of electricity to run out through my body starting from the tip of my toes to all the way to the tip of my fingers. My body fell on infinite bliss. Even though this touch erupted fireworks in my stomach this touch also calmed me, comforted me in many ways than one Physically, Mentally and Emotionally. I felt safe and free but that didn t last long. The hand on my shoulder slipped off slowly and gently but that action only ripped away all the bliss and comfort from it, bringing back the cold to my body. I turned around slowly facing the owner of the hand that was touching me only moments go but it felt like his last touch was months ago, what was this person touch doing to me? The owner of the hand had its mouth slightly open from shock, his eyes were flooded with emotion, confusion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Ee Cummings Research Paper Edward Estlin Cummings, better known as E.E. Cummings, was a well known American poet who lived between October 14, 1894 and September 3, 1962. His long career spanned all the way from 1904, when he was ten years old, up to his death in 1962. At the time of his death, Cummings was the second most widely read poet in the United States, after Robert Frost. His countless contributions to American poetry as well as his immense influence on American poetry is evident to this very day. E.E. Cummings was born on October 14, 1894 in Cambridge, Massachusetts to Rebecca Haswell Clarke and Edward Cummings. E.E. Cummings father was a professor at Harvard University, where his son later went to college. As a kid, Cummings wrote poetry as early as the age ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cummings had a unique career and writing style. Over time, he developed his writing style to become an innovative poet because of his lack of stylistic and structural conformity. After publishing quality poems for much of his career, he eventually found wide recognition. In his work, Cummings experimented radically with form, punctuation, spelling, and syntax, and by abandoning traditional techniques and structures to create a new, highly idiosyncratic means of poetic expression, he challenged the status quo in literature and poetry. This is highly reflective of his writing, however, later in his career, Cummings was often criticized for becoming more conservative and less progressive with his work. E.E. Cummings ultimately refined his signature style and avoided pressing his work toward further evolution. Nevertheless, he attained great popularity, especially among young readers, for the simplicity of his language, his playful mode, and his attention to subjects such as war and sex. The poet and critic Randall Jarrell once said that Cummings is one of the most individual poets who ever lived, and though it sometimes seems so, it is not just his vices and exaggerations, the defects of his qualities, that make a writer popular. But, primarily, Mr. Cummings s poems are loved because they are full of sentimentally, of sex, of more or less improper jokes, of elementary lyric insistence. Clearly, Cummings work was rebellious and contrarian to traditional literature. E.E. Cummings was part of the Modern literary period. Other famous American poets from this era include Robert Frost, Langston Hughes, E. St. V. Millay, Audre Lord, Walt Whitman, and Edwin Arlington. This literary period had a profound impact on Cummings work and even world events influenced his poems. Over the course of E.E. Cummings career, several major world events took place. World War I and World War II both occurred during ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Pros And Consequences Of Malaria Introduction Infectious diseases are the leading cause of death all over the world [1]. Malaria, also called plasmodium infection, is one of the most important human infectious diseases threatening the lives of millions of people every year. According to WHO malaria report, globally, an estimated 3.2 billion people in 97 countries and territories are at risk of being infected with malaria and developing disease, and 1.2 billion are at high risk [2]. Although the disease has been eradicated in most areas, it s still widespread in some regions [2]. The biggest challenges in controlling malaria disease are the emergence of anti malarial drug resistance and insecticide resistance in parasite and mosquito, respectively [3 5]. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop novel intervention strategies such as vaccines to reduce the burden of malaria morbidity and mortality. Malaria is commonly associated with poverty and has a major negative effect on economic development [6]. Oral vaccines offer exciting possibilities for reducing the burden of diseases especially in developing regions of the world. Oral vaccines are inexpensive, easily administered (needle free) and capable of being stored and transported without refrigeration [7]. Reporters speculate that their political beliefs were shaped by an anti Communist upbringing during the McCarthy Era. Their father worked abroad with Soviet engineers in the 1930s, some of whom were later brutally purged by Stalin. As a result of the violence, the elder Koch returned to America staunchly anti communist, which undoubtedly contributed to his sons suspicions of big government. • 9. Evolution And Virality Of Memes Evolution and Virality of Memes How have memes evolved and why do they go viral? Memes did not originate from the internet contrary to popular belief, but have actually been appearing in culture for centuries. The main difference between internet memes and pre internet memes is the medium in which they go viral. A meme has two definitions; Dawkins definition, and internet memes. Charles Dawkins first coined the term meme in 1976 in his book The Selfish Gene, and was referring to cultural ideas, beliefs, fashion, practices, etc. In his book he came up with a theory that memes develops similar to how genes spread in organisms. This square dates back to 79 AD in the ruins of Pompeii, where Jewish people inscribed it on doorways and various objects to protect from evil. Later, in about the Third to Fifth century, Christians adopted this practice as their own. The meme had spread and mutated to accommodate both cultures. Likewise, Sator Square has still survived to this day. However, it s not as popular as it once used to be nor used as much. Additionally Kilroy was Here is another meme that spread similarly to internet memes, and the sator square. James J. Kilroy created it during World War II. He inspected the bottoms of warships under construction, and after he had completed the inspection he would write in chalk Kilroy was Here on the bottom of them. The chalk consequently, would be erased too easily though, so he scrawled Kilroy was Here in crayon on the bottom of the ship instead. The image that s associated with this phrase is a bald headed man with a large nose peeking over a ledge however, predates the phrase. There s conflicting ideas to who drew it first, but most people think the British cartoonist George Edward Chatterton drew it in 1938. Somehow this image united with the phrase, and formed the Kilroy was Here meme. Subsequently this spawned a joke within the GIs of America. It became a challenge to place this phrase and picture in unusual places, and is said to be on Mt. Everest, the Statue of Liberty, and on the moon. Both of these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Pai s Opinions Of Leadership In Whale Rider During the first scene in Whale Rider, the protagonist Pai is born into a tribe that depends on her twin brother on becoming chief, but with his and their mothers death during childbirth, her grandfather Koro wished in his heat that I (Pai) had never been born). Though his opinion of Pai changes as she grows and they become very close. Being the chief of the community, Paka takes tradition and culture very seriously Paka believes that Pai s twin brother was born to be the chief, though the audience finds out that it was Pai s duty to become chief. But while Pai shows this clearly, Koro s antiquated ways and beliefs makes it difficult for her to assume her position as chief. Due to his commitment to the old ways, Koro is unable to accept ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Koro s opinion of leadership is out dated and sexist while Pai s opinions are modern and suit the new ways of the world today. Koro believes that leading is a man s job and a woman s duty lies within the house. Pai on the other hand learns that she is just as capable as the other tribe boys and while she is not allowed to attend the school Koro is running to find a new chief, she seeks out the help of Rawiri and excels in the leadership qualities Koro is so desperately trying to find within the boys. Nanny does not show much of an opinion about leadership throughout the movie, though she does have similar ideas to Koro, You might be the boss out there... But I m the boss in this kitchen. While she is not as against a female leader like Koro, she still has an out dated opinion of a woman s duty within the house. Rawiri shows a lot of belief in Pai, especially when he agrees to teach her how to use the Taiaha behind Koro s back. Though this does not fully display his ideas on leadership, it does prove to the audience that he believes in Pai and her ability to lead, therefor showing an understanding of modern ideals about leadership contrary to Paka s judgment. Paka s ideas on leadership barely change throughout the movie until Pai goes to the extreme level of riding the whale out to sea. By doing this she ultimately becomes The Whale Rider , and Koro s traditional view of leadership changes completely. In one of the last scenes, when Pai is lying in the hospital bed with Paka next to her he begins to talk to her, apologising for his ways, Wise leader, forgive me. The figures in each subsection occupies most of the frame , with each figure s head nearing the top of the low hanging ceiling . This height leads to non idyllic proportions throughout the piece, with some people standing only 5 heads tall and with heads thicker than their torsos. This disproportion leads to the belief that human anatomy was not the priority of the sculptor, but rather the narrative of the overall piece, with no individual subsection dominating the composition. The first subsection in the top left shows a bearded man and his right hand outstretched to the left side of the canvas, with his other hand hovering over a kneeling child, with another man standing behind him and some small animal, possibly a lamb, standing beneath the outstretched hand. According to Stokstad, this may be a depiction of the Binding of Isaac, in which Abraham passes the test of faith and willingly goes to sacrifice his firstborn son, Isaac, before divine intervention gives him a lamb as a replacement (Stokstad 168). This conclusion is consistent with the depiction, allowing the viewer to conclude that the outstretched hand is likely holding a knife and the figure present in the background is an angel, delivering the lamb in tribute. While the city s religious significance alone attracts enough pilgrims to support its economy, modern Jerusalem prospers with the additional tourists intrigued by the historical landmarks, such as the Western Wall and the Dome of the Rock. • 32. The Uses Of Tissue And Skin The use of fibroblasts in skin substitutes is a crucial step toward better burn wound healing. Fibroblasts, which are naturally found in the dermis layer, are in charge of synthesizing and secreting the components that make up the extracellular matrix. In order for the skin to heal properly, one component that is especially important is collagen, for it plays a major part in the structure of the skin. Lack of collagen synthesis during healing can lead to raised scar, resulting in poor skin function and appearance[18]. TransCyte is a temporary, bioactive synthetic covering with a similar structure to Biobrane, with an addition of fibroblasts. Like Biobrane, it is also used as covering for burn patients before autografting or for patients with partial thickness burns who do not require autografts[11][12]. TransCyte consists of two layers, a silicone outer layer and an inner nylon mesh seeded with fibroblasts. The outer silicone layer is a semipermeable membrane, containing a series of laser punched holes that allow excess fluids to be drained[13]. The inner nylon mesh membrane is coated with porcine collagen peptides, creating the base onto where the neonatal fibroblasts can be cultured, since collagen is a main component of the skin. In order to seed the fibroblasts within the nylon mesh, the entire membrane, silicone outer layer included, was placed inside a specially designed bioreactor. This bioreactor provided a continuous, constant flow of fibroblasts at a rate of about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
