Analysis Of Mulan
The Ordinary World : In the 1998 film, Mulan, the ordinary world for the main character, Mulan, is a
world where she is not accepted for who she is. In her town, women must be ladylike and find a
husband at an early age. Mulan is an independent girl who is tomboyish and clumsy; the opposite of
what is expected of her. In Mulan s society being able to be the perfect woman and be pretty, smart,
and graceful brings honor to one s family, but Mulan cannot seem to fit these standards which makes
her family disappointed. This is shown well in the scene with the matchmaker. Mulan s mother has
people come and dress mulan in fine garments, has her makeup done, and her hair put up in a beautiful
style. She is taught the correct things to say and do towards the matchmaker and her grandmother even
gives her a lucky cricket to make sure things will go well. But, in the end mulan ends up spilling tea
on the matchmaker and being told she is a disgrace to her family. Overall in the ordinary world Mulan
tries to fit into society s mold to make her parents proud, but in the end fails to act like the person she
is not.
First Threshold : After Mulan steals her father s sword and armor to leave her home and go fight in the
war in her call to adventure she reaches the first threshold. For Mulan this is the training camp for the
Chinese Army. Mulan is surrounded by only men while she must pretend to be a man herself, which is
very difficult considering she has been taught her whole life to be a

Essay On HIPAAAnd Informatics
The Nursing Roles with HIPAA and Informatics Informatics is a term used to describe the entirety of
obtaining and storing a patient s healthcare information. Health Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act (HIPAA) is an act that provides privacy and security amongst a patient s medical
and health information. Sounds simple, right? Well, one of the nurse s many roles is to ensure
confidentiality of the patient. HIPAA aids in the use of electronic records distributed for collaborative
and violations of confidentiality in healthcare under control. Understanding HIPAA Kiel (2012) says,
nurses first and foremost should take the time to educate patients on HIPAA, giving them and their
designated family members the time to read and decipher the information (p. 1). Kiel (2012) goes on
to tell that nurses are to help the patient understand the key points of HIPAA and any questions they
may have relating to the subject. HIPAA is composed of different rules however the two that are
mainly prevalent to the patient is the Privacy Rule and the Security Rule. Nurses must make sure the
client understands his/her rights when related to the healthcare they are receiving and the information
they are providing to health care providers. Secondly, the Security Rule protecting patient health ...

The Innovation Strategy Of Marriott s Growth And Business...
Introduction
Strategy may be one of the most misinterpreted concepts in buiness which are essential in every facet
of an organization. In general, it is nothing but an obligation towards a set of logical policies meant for
accomplishing a definite competitive goal. To be more specific strategy is to convey the distinctive
blend of values by picking a diverse set of activities (Porter, 1983). If the strategy is good it helps to
prioritize the objectives and to promote alliance within the diverse organization. A company s
successful endeavours in their accomplishments, a well driven strategy is essential and the various

Tort Law Can Be Defined As An Area Of Law
Tort law can be defined as an area of law that deals with the wrongful actions of an individual or
entity, which cause injury to another individual s or entity s person, property, or reputation, and which
entitle the injured party to compensation (Tort Law). In other words, a tort case occurs when a person
has broken civil law by inflicting injury, whether physical, emotional, or that of one s reputation, onto
another person. When a crime such as this has been committed, tort law allows for the injured party, or
plaintiff, to seek out compensation for the wrongs that have been committed against them (Tort Law).

case was charged with Trespass to goods (B. Sexton). Trespass to Land tort cases occur when there
has been unjustifiable interference with another s land (B. Sexton). This type of trespass can be
committed negligently or accidently (B. Sexton). The final type of tort case is Products Liability. This
occurs when injury or harm has been caused by a defective product (Products Liability). In this type of
tort case, there are three types of product defects that cause liability issues. These are design defects,
manufacturing defects, and marketing defects (Products Liability). A design defect is when the overall
design of the product causes the harm or injury to the plaintiff (Products Liability). A manufacturing
defect occurs during the construction or production of the product (Products Liability). In this case,
only a few of the products are flawed (Products Liability). Finally, a defect in marketing occurs when
harm is caused to the plaintiff because the product was not labeled with any warnings about possible
dangers with use of the product (Products Liability). Even though there are six types of tort cases, torts
can also be broken down into three main, general categories of torts. The three categories are
Intentional Torts, Negligence Torts, and Strict Liability Torts (Tort Law). An intentional tort can be

Moose Maddon s Death Essay
I believe that Moose Maddons death was an accident. In the story it says Moose
Maddon was a bully to Cecil but Cecil didn t usually retaliate. Cecil is a boy who wants to go to
university, on the night of his leaving Moose Martin dies. I believe that Moose Madden s death was an
accident because he was drunk and tried to log roll but fell off and died.
The reason I believe that Moose maddons death was an accident is because he was drunk the night of
his death and went on a log and fell. In the text it says I figured it was Moose and Lefevre coming
home drunk from camp three. Moose was intoxicated the night of his death which makes him clumsy
and wobbly. It would be like driving drunk it s just as likely it even more likely he would fall of a log
in the river as he would get into an accident. Also in the story it says, One day in the fall I will go to
the ravine and see how the headline was making it. It still shocking to think that Maddon, who had
been sure footed as a chipmunk, and our best log rolling contest, had fallen to his death the way he
had. Moose Lilly thought he would be able to walk on the logs because he was one of the best at it.
But since he was drunk he would be wobbly and his balance would be off so he fell into the ravine. ...

would be safe so there would be no reason to kill Moose to make sure nothing past little pranks

domestic and international, commercial and residential are processed through the same network. This
results in very efficient use of assets and lower costs.
The single network model delivers significant benefits reducing environmental impact, offering

The Importance of the Family in Louisa May Alcott Little...
Many times people are asked to think about what is important to them. A person may say their home,
car, children, material items and some may even say family. In the book Little Women (1868 1869)
written by Louisa May Alcott illustrates several family values. The story of the March family starts
out during the civil war in New England. The family is left to survive on their own because their
father went to protect his country. During the years of life the March children, Margaret (Meg),
Josephine (Jo), Beth and Amy, had to face the fact that they were very poor, and couldn t have
everything that they fancied. As the family stayed home and awaited the return of their father they

Rich or poor, we will keep together and be happy in one another (43). So when the March s had a way
to get money they refused because family is important. They knew that family was far more important
than riches. Many times during the young girls life several lessons were taught. Meg and Jo were
several years older then both Beth and Amy and when it came time for the two to do grown up things
and Amy was not allowed to do so, she got angry and told Jo that she would be sorry for leaving her
out. As Jo enjoyed the theater Amy burned her manuscript, for Jo loved to write and had several
stories written in a book which she called her manuscript. Upon returning Jo discovered that her joy
was destroyed and felt she could never forgive Amy for what she had done. Once again Marmee being
wise in her years told Jo, don t let the sun go down upon your anger; forgive each other, help each
other, and begin tomorrow (88). With this advice it helped Jo forgive Amy and helped her though out
the rest of her life when she was known to be very short tempered. With this advice family forgets all
wrongs and helps each other on the road of life. Not only Marmee contributes to the family in her own
subtle way. The children taught their own lessons to the family as time goes on. At the beginning of
the story the children are talking about Christmas and realizing that there won t be any presents that

The only real substitute is to buy all the functions of a mobile phone in the individual products, which
would not be plausible to carry all around on a person at the same time. It is hard to be replaced for a
different product, since it covers so many different needs. MOST ATTRACTIVE FACTOR OF THE 5
FORCES MODEL We believe that the most attractive factor in the microenvironment of the mobile
phone industry is the threat of substitutes. As we have said above, the mobile phone does not have a
real substitute since it offers a huge range of services and functions in just one device, and there are no
other products that can offer these characteristics. The importance of communications today, has made
the mobile phone a basic need for everyone, and the possibility of being in contact with the world at
any time or place is a function offered exclusively by mobile phones. Both of the reasons explained
above make this industry highly profitable and attractive for potential companies. LESS
ATTRACTIVE FACTOR FOR THE FIVE FORCES MODEL After having analysed all the factors we
have concluded that the less attractive factor is the powers of buyers for the cell phone industry. This
is due to the fact that there are a lot of choices for customers when buying a mobile phone (high
rivalry). Besides, the network operators sign contracts with customers for 24 months in order

For many years The Aztec Empire was able to rule all of Mexico by killing and destroying everything

The Sinking Of The Titanic
A ship bigger than the world had ever seen, three years in the making, took less than three hours to
sink into the depths of the ocean (Fowler; Build ; Yasuda 6; Sinking ; Interesting ; Hall 38; Stewart 8).
In April of 1912, The RMS Titanic hit an iceberg and sank 12,000 feet to the ocean floor. This incident
cost the lives of over 1,500 passengers and crew members, over half the total people that had been on
board ( Sinking ). The Titanic was the largest ship ever built when it entered service, at 882 feet long,
92 feet wide, and 175 feet high, and was touted as unsinkable (Hall 19,38; Yasuda 5,7; Hopkinson 25;
World s ; Stewart 8). The Titanic disaster was a wake up call for many people, average citizens and
maritime experts alike (Savage). As a result of the sinking of the so called unsinkable Titanic,
exploration into better safety regulations and shipbuilding techniques occurred. Safety regulations in
place at the time of the Titanic disaster were outdated and ineffective, leading maritime experts to
explore ways to improve them. Prior to the sinking of the Titanic, the 1894 Merchant Shipping Act
was the only regulation on how many lifeboats a ship should have. It dictated how many lifeboats a
ship needed, the total number of which was based upon that ship s tonnage. The Merchant Shipping
Act was 20 years old in 1912, and did not take into account the rapidly increasing size of ships being
constructed, since its inception. According to the Merchant

Contrary to the popular contemporary notion that pulses at the heart of prosperity teachings, the
Christian journey is not without suffering. In fact, hardship is a part of the human experience. Nothing
has highlighted this truth more so than the recent illness of my mother. My mother was and in many
regards still is the epitome of strength, the matriarch and stalwart of the family whose deep faith and
convictions continue to reverberate through the many lives that she has touched. As a pastor, marriage

tremendous opportunities to minister the gospel in a variety of contexts. By all visible signs she
appeared whole. The sudden change came as a shock. I will never forget the Doctor s diagnosis a
highly uncommon disease called autoimmune encephalitis an illness that causes the immune system to

The Effects Of Deceptive Pictures On Hong Kong
2.3.2. Deceptive Pictures
According to Kim (2004), there are several instances that he has witnessed of the deceptive pictures
presented in the websites of the online retail stores. The consumers correspondingly find a different
product during the purchase of the product, which leads to extreme level of dissatisfaction from the
customers end. Subsequently, the consumers find it difficult to purchase the product again from the
same retail store. Lodorfos et al (2006) in this regard commented that the online retail organisations
those have witnessed these sort of deceptive pictures in order to attract online consumers have
ultimately not been able to retain the same. Similar instances are also notable among the consumers in
Hong Kong, who are highly conscious regarding the quality aspects of a product. Therefore, it is
eminent that deceptive pictures are regarded as one of the factors that restrict consumers in Hong
Kong to purchase products through the online platform (Lodorfos et al, 2006).
2.3.3. Diminished Instant Satisfaction
Mittal (2013) suggested that in online retail shopping the consumers receives the products after certain
amount of time. It is worth mentioning that although in Hong Kong the delivery of the online
purchased products are relatively quick, still it is not feasible to witness immediate consumption of the
product at the time purchase. Bashir (2013) further commented that this infeasibility to deliver the

Many of the opponents argue the pipeline only creates temporary jobs for two years during
construction, and continually report the lower end estimated economic benefits. In contrast, the
proponents typically exaggerate the economic benefits proclaim the lasting stimulus the project will
provide. The truth usually lies somewhere in between. Undoubtedly, the construction phase of the
project will provide the most immediate benefit to the US economy than the operation and
maintenance phases of the project. During the construction phase, it is estimated that $3.4 billion
dollars would be added to the U.S. gross domestic product (GDP). Of that, roughly $2.05 billion
would be earmarked for employee earnings related to the construction phase. However, after the
construction phase, approximately only 50 permanent employees and 15 temporary contractors would
remain to operate the pipeline. (Department of State, 2017) Evidently, this project will not provide a
long term windfall of economic stimulus. Nevertheless, $2.05 billion dollars in employee earnings in

support, and teach them skills so they could grow to become their own person. The Fosters does an
excellent job showing what parenthood looks like, but they did it with a lesbian couple raising their
children. The Fosters shows the mothers doing the same parenting task as heterosexual parents. They
discipline their children when they need to, they helped their children with schoolwork, and they
always show their kids the love that they have for them. Lena and Stef go through the same parenting
struggles as heterosexual parents do when it comes dealing with their teenage children. Since society
is still new to same sex parenting, some individuals think that the children are not going to be as
normal as children raised in a heterosexual household. However, research shows that children that are
raised by a homosexual couple do not differ when it comes to being raised by a

The Consequences of the Burr and Hamiton Duel Essay example
The Burr and Hamilton duel is a major part in american history. It was a moment in history were two
foes battled out their anger in each other. Though many historians wonder if Hamilton able to avoid
this duel. Many people would agree that this is one thing that would not turn into a big deal if it was
avoided. Today many history classes are debating was the consequences of the the Burr vs. Hamilton
duel inevitable?
Alexander was the leader of the federalists and secretary of state. Burr was a democratic republican
and vice president of the United States. They are both political enemies, but their hatred for each other
went beyond politics. The duel was started do to the tension between Hamilton and Burr. There are
many reasons why the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before the duel, Hamilton wrote a letter called Statement on Impending Duel with Aaron Burr . He
wrote in the letter that he was strongly opposed the practice of dueling for both religious and practical
reasons. He then continued stating I have resolved, if our interview is conducted in the usual manner,
and it pleases God to give me the opportunity, to reserve and throw away my first fire, and I have
thoughts even of reserving my second fire. While Dr. Hosack, the doctor called to help Hamilton after
being shot, was told by Hamilton that his gun was still loaded. This is evidence for the theory that
Hamilton intended not to fire, honoring his pre duel pledge, and only fired accidentally upon being hit.
Do to the fact that Hamilton desperately did not want to duel with Burr, his only decision was to write
the letter to him. To appease his moral and religious reservations about dueling, he attempted to
placate Burr with an elaborate discussion of the infinite shades of meaning of the word despicable a
grammar lesson that Burr found evasive, manipulative, and offensive.
Burr was outraged by Hamilton s letter. He started to negotiate with Hamilton about the duel. After
roughly eight days of negotiation, the duel was final and Hamilton accepted it. Burr was definitely the
one that was more into the idea of dueling. For a long time Burr knew that Hamilton did not only have

Operation Decisions
ASSIGNMENT 1: OPERATIONS DECISION 2
The company that I am consulting is Simple Simon s Pecan Pie Factory. Simple Simon s has been
producing pecan pies for thirty years and is an established and well recognized competitor in the
gourmet pie market. The company has two manufacturing plants in Tifton, GA and Charleston, SC,
and ships its pies all over the world. Recently, I was contacted by the president of the company, Simon
Fair, to make recommendations on how to turn around the company s floundering operations. Over the
last three years, Simple Simon has seen its market share fall and its revenue decline 15% each year.
There have been several competitors that have entered the market within the last five years that have

Competitors have used this fact to differentiate themselves from Simple Simon.
Simple Simon s current financial situation is tenuous. The company is producing 6,000 units per
month, but after all variable and fixed costs, they are losing $40/month. The company s labor costs are
extraordinarily high. The current labor cost is $23.33/unit, which is 72.9% of the $32 sales price (See
attached Table 1).
The production function of a firm relates the quantity of inputs to the quantity of outputs. For this
analysis, Simple Simon s production function is a linear function with labor as its only input.
Production functions can be short run or long run. In the short run, capital inputs like plant and
machinery are fixed and only variable inputs like labor and raw materials can be changed (Production
Functions, p.1). Depending on what stage of production the firm is in, the law of diminishing returns
affects the level of output. The law of diminishing returns states that as more units of a variable input
(i.e. labor) are added to fixed amounts of land and capital, the change in total output will at first rise
and then fall. Simple Simon is so under utilizing its labor that even if the number of workers is
doubled, there is still not a reduction in the level of output per unit of labor.
There are several steps Simple Simon s should undertake to increase profitability. In the short run, the
company should reduce the cost of labor to $65

Technology Plays Significant Role Today s Society
Technology plays significant role in today s society. With advances in technology, the market of
smartphones has experienced a significant growth since Apple introduced the iPhone in 2007.
Technological advances have also paved way for wearable devices as the next generation of mobile
technology. A wearable device is a small electronic device which can be worn on the body so that an
individual can freely use it even when moving3. An example of such wearable technology is a
smartwatch. A smartwatch is a computerized device with a touchscreen display, designed to be worn
on the wrist. The first smartwatch, Pulsar, was manufactured in 1972 by Hamilton Watch Company.
Earlier models of the smartwatch like Pulsar performed basic tasks such as translation and
calculations. Smartwatches manufactured in the 21st century like the Sony Smartwatch 3 and the
Apple Watch, are more advanced and can completely function as standalone products. Most of these
smartwatches have a rechargeable battery and a graphical display with a touchscreen and run on
mobile apps using a mobile operating system to carry out their functions when paired via Bluetooth.
When paired with a phone, it allows the watch to display data such as incoming calls, text messages,
emails notifications and any data which may be made available by relevant phone apps. 2. SONY

1)Why Did The Philosophes Place Freedom Of Expression At
1) Why did the philosophes place freedom of expression at the center of their system of values?
The theories of the enlightenment were centered around five basic concepts: reason, science, progress,
liberty, and toleration. These lead themselves into thinking of the world in Realist terms. We must look
at the universe and understand it from what we can see. A common train of thought was that humanity
had grown far too comfortable depending on history and facts as they were retold. One no longer
thought for themselves. Progress had been constrained by social and political institutions that did not
reflect humanities natural goodness and capacity for material and moral improvement. Humans were
prone to relying on emotions rather than reason ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
when the discussion of impoverishment shifted towards a politico economic outcome rather than the
manifestation of a natural order, poverty was regarded as necessary. It was terrible for those forced to
live in it, but it kept the economy running by providing lots of cheap labor. Poverty also often meant
uneducated. An uneducated public was easy to control and ignorant of the effects that the aristocracy
were having. The uneducated are likely to work for low wages, even more so if they are already
impoverished. This allows the wealthy to exploit large groups of people without much effort or
money. There was an enforced idea that God had placed oneself into such a position and it was not
their job to raise themselves up, but to accept and be content. Poverty was seen as a necessary evil, a
kind of darkness that contrasted the wealth of the central civilization. For one very wealthy man, there
are many, many, poor but it is their burden to bear to balance the order of things.
3) The French Revolution destroyed the French monarchy in order to strengthen the French state.
Explain this paradox. The French polity, previously an absolute monarchy with feudal privileges for
the aristocracy and catholic clergy, underwent radical change to forms based on the enlightenment
principles of republicanism, citizenship, and rights. The revolution was aimed at the destruction of
aristocratic society, and the structure it supported in an effort to create a more autonomous

The Boxing Day Tsunami And The Real World Tsunami
Tsunamis are unfortunate events that humanity will have to deal with for eternity. They one of the
most versatile forms of a natural disaster, as they can be caused by a rockslide, underwater earthquake,
certain volcanic eruptions, or a high velocity impact of a sizeable object within a body of water (1).
The media and scientific research has done a sufficient job in covering real world tsunamis and relief
efforts, which in turn has help trigger natural human curiosity regarding the subject. The film industry
has capitalized off of this, and has made a numerous amount of movies either based on, or featuring
these devastating waves. As depicted through real events and in the movies, tsunamis generally
behave in the same manner, yet each one has a different speed and height due to various factors.
Furthermore, every location of possible impact treats the way they prepare and react to a disaster
differently. Through the examination of the real life Boxing Day Tsunami, and the fictional tsunami in
Roar Uthaug s The Wave, these claims can be further expanded upon and reinforced.
December 26, 2004 is a date that will live in infamy, and has personal value for millions of people
around the world. What started out as a fine day in Southeast Asia, would turn into a catastrophic
nightmare that would go on to be dubbed the Boxing Day Tsunami. The tsunami was triggered by an
underwater earthquake that ranks fourth all time in terms of seismic measurements. On a portion of

King Arthur Chivalry Code
In modern day society, the world has very strict cultural rules. In some places in the Pacific Ocean, it
is considered rude to wear shoes inside of the house, and in the southern nation of the US it is
considered rude to refer to an adult without the phrase, ma am or sir. Issues of what is respectable or
accepted have always existed since the first civilized culture. However, there is one form of
respectable manners that have followed the people throughout the growth of the world. This form is
the code of chivalry, first recognized in the Arthurian time of the knights. The knights had to follow
this code just how modern day people would follow the law. The code is created by the moral
conceptions of courage, honor, loyalty, and manners. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All three of these texts involve battles and brave choices made by the heroic characters who each go
on a journey, have an encounter with the gods, either in a positive way or in a negative way. Then they
always end up fighting in a battle of some sort, physical or mental, and prove themselves worthy to be
the leader of the land. However, the entire chivalric code was not fully existing by this point of
culture, there might have been the idea of strength and honor being incredibly vital for a man s rank in
social status, but the key point is man. There was no and absolutely any wiggle room for women to be
recognized as equal human beings at all. The beginning of the Iliad even includes the unchivalric acts
of the behavior towards women. Achilles and King Agamemnon were arguing the right of having the
young lady as their prize, but of course the lady never did get any sort of say in it. The Odyssey also
displayed this kind of behavior towards females, Odysseus was very unfaithful in his relationship,
while his wife was not, but he was still questioning her loyalty and even threatened death if she was
caught in a fib. Yet, The Aeneid had a different approach to the origination to the chivalric code of
treatment of women, there was no unpleasant treatment of women, yet the female characters were still

Immigration Policy And The Immigration Sector
Immigration
PAD 3034
Juan Sarmiento
Florida International University
July 9th, 2015
Abstract
In this paper, I decided to analyze the immigration policy. The immigration policies have had a deep
history. The policies have been twisted, in the long run, to meet the demands of the time. However,
most of the times, the policies have been unfair especially in regard to the immigrants. The overview
contains a rich history of the policy progression and advancements in the immigration sector. In this
paper, I decided to extrapolate on some few contemporary issues that are as a result of the immigration
policies and laws. One of the contentious issues is the Visa policy. This is a system that is widely used
by the US government. Though formulated with a good purpose, the formulation did not cater for
everything that is associated with immigration. For instance, the immigrants who are on transit for
employment are not selected based on the employment demand in the market, hence, they end up
being stranded and thus are forced to accept low paying jobs with poor working conditions. The
solution to this is also discussed in the paper. I have also discussed on the open door policy and its
implications which include overpopulation. Overpopulation on its part has directly affected both the
immigrants and natives with many adverse effects. I was able to do research, and I consequently came
up with a set of alternative methods that could be of help. However, I have also discussed

Bishop T. D. Jakes And Elevation Church s Steven Furtick
Interview Reflection In class, we viewed a discussion between bishop T.D. Jakes and Elevation
Church s Steven Furtick. Jakes recently released a book by the title of Soar. This book gives insights
into business and success through the lense of a Christian perspective. Many things he said were great
takeaways; but one particular topic I would like to reflect on is the idea of asking God for things. We
find ourselves asking God for tables. God doesn t make tables, He makes trees. Sometimes we want
something super specific and nice without doing anything ourselves. It is hard to draw the line
between how much free will we have, because of the fact that God is all knowing and all powerful.
However, we should remember, as Christians, that God

The Power of Social Engineers in The Art Of Deception by...
The Art of Deception is an in depth look at the vulnerability that the common man has to the social
engineer. Mitnick s perspective comes from a social angle instead of a technological one, seeing as he
is known as the greatest hacker all over media and most of his methods weren t technologically
inclined but socially. A quick look into Mitnick s background, he was an only child who had a knack
for understanding the Nitti Gritty of technology. As a child, he managed to hack the bus system in Los
Angeles and travel for free, exploited telephone networks as a teen and in college, infiltrated their
network and was later hired because it was either that or expulsion. These are just a few of his many
hacking exhibitions. He has served jail time because he realised what he did was wrong and is now
helping companies avoid similar exploitations through his security company, public talks and through
his books.
In this day and age, where information is the new currency on the block, criminals are on the rise to
acquire this information. The book highlights the different techniques and attacks of the social
engineer and how easily we are persuaded into thinking that technology has secured us from these
attacks. He shows these through a variety of stories that have actually happened as indications of our
negligence to these attacks, but as well points out ways that we can protect ourselves from these
attacks and become less victimized by the social engineer. He gets us to look through

Psychoactive Drug Addiction
A narrow definition of the term addiction refers to habitual psychological and physiological
dependence on a substance beyond one s voluntary control. Terms such as workaholic, sex addict, and
computer junkie arose to describe behaviors that have features in common with alcoholism and other
substance addictions. Substance addiction is a multi pronged system in which lifestyle has a role but
the biology of a person s body is a major factor. These substances, which are called psychoactive
drugs, are what people become addicted to and are described as chemicals that affect mental processes
and behavior by temporarily changing perception and awareness. There are many different theories
about what addiction is and why it happens but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once GAMA is attach to the receptor sites on the protein neurons then the channel is opened and the
chloride flow freely. Allowing these negatively charged chloride ions to flow into cells causes neurons
to become less active and pulse less therefore the brain is sending and receiving fewer
neurotransmitters (McKim 158). As talked about earlier, different drugs influence each of these
neurotransmitters differently. Each psychoactive drug has different effects on the body and different
uses. The term psychoactive describes a substance that affects the central nervous system (the brain
and spinal cord), producing changes in a person s mental activity or behavior. Psychoactive drugs may
affect the way an individual thinks, behaves, and analyzes. Many popular and widely used substances
are psychoactive such as alcohol. Many Doctors prescribe psychoactive drugs for different reasons.
Among the most important medical uses are as anesthesia for surgery and as analgesics (painkillers).
Dangerous psychoactive drugs are believed to have little or no medical benefit, so are used illegally
for recreational purposes including altering consciousness, improving performance, and improving
mood. When drugs are used for these purposes it can eventually lead to addiction.
There are 4 main categories which all psychoactive drugs fall under. These categories consist of the
following hallucinogens, stimulants, depressants, and opiates. Hallucinogens can cause people to

Compare The Red Scare And The Red Scare
The Crucible VS. The Red Scare The Red Scare and The Salem Witch Trials were both events that left
a mark in American history. The Red Scare began in 1917 and took place across the United States. The
Red Scare was known as the widespread promotion of anti communism. The Salem Witch Trials
began in 1692 and took place in Salem, Massachusetts. The Salem Witch Trials were various court
hearings and prosecutions of people in Salem accused of Witchcraft. Arthur Miller wrote The
Crucible, a play about The Salem Witch Trials, to send a message to Senator Joseph McCarthy, the
face of The Red Scare. Even though both of these events took place at completely different times their
connection remains profound. The Crucible and The Red Scare have various similarities and allegories
that make both of these events connect despite the gap of time. Arthur Miller, wrote The Crucible with
the intention of comparing The Red Scare to The Salem Witch Trials. One of the many similarities
between The Red Scare and The Salem Witch Trials is the way both events started. Both events were
started by people making false accusations. During The Red Scare people were accused of being
communists. At one of his speeches in Wheeling, West Virginia, in 1950, Senator Joseph McCarthy
claimed to hold in my hand a list of individuals who were both serving in government and
participating in the communist party. (Brinkley2) Thanks to McCarthy s popular style, people never

Story Of The Hour And The Interlopers Analysis
The Story of the Hour by Kate Chopin and The Interlopers by Saki are short stories that will leave you
on your toes till the very end. Both stories deal with death, freedom, independence, and power. But, in
those very ways they are alike, they are very different. While one is trying to be free by letting
someone go, the other is trying to be free by forgiving someone and letting someone in a new
friendship. The characters from both short stories are trying to have a new start and let go of a life
time situation. The first similarity I found in the Story of the Hour and the Interlopers is that they both
deal with a sense of death. But, the characters or on two different ends of the spectrum of death. In the
Story of the Hour it reads, She did not hear the story as many women have heard the same, with a
paralyzed inability to accept its significance. She wept at once, with sudden, wild abandonment, in her
sister s arms. . This passage is talking about the reaction she had when she heard the news of her
husband s death . The Interlopers read, The two enemies stood glaring at one another for a long silent
moment. Each had a rifle in his hand, each had hate in his heart and murder uppermost in his mind.
These two characters were enemies and wanted to kill each other out of hate. As we can see both short
stories deal with death, but on different ends of the spectrum. The Story of the Hour is grieving the
death of her husband. While in the Interlopers they re trying to

  • 3. Analysis Of Mulan The Ordinary World : In the 1998 film, Mulan, the ordinary world for the main character, Mulan, is a world where she is not accepted for who she is. In her town, women must be ladylike and find a husband at an early age. Mulan is an independent girl who is tomboyish and clumsy; the opposite of what is expected of her. In Mulan s society being able to be the perfect woman and be pretty, smart, and graceful brings honor to one s family, but Mulan cannot seem to fit these standards which makes her family disappointed. This is shown well in the scene with the matchmaker. Mulan s mother has people come and dress mulan in fine garments, has her makeup done, and her hair put up in a beautiful style. She is taught the correct things to say and do towards the matchmaker and her grandmother even gives her a lucky cricket to make sure things will go well. But, in the end mulan ends up spilling tea on the matchmaker and being told she is a disgrace to her family. Overall in the ordinary world Mulan tries to fit into society s mold to make her parents proud, but in the end fails to act like the person she is not. First Threshold : After Mulan steals her father s sword and armor to leave her home and go fight in the war in her call to adventure she reaches the first threshold. For Mulan this is the training camp for the Chinese Army. Mulan is surrounded by only men while she must pretend to be a man herself, which is very difficult considering she has been taught her whole life to be a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cecil is a boy who wants to go to university, on the night of his leaving Moose Martin dies. I believe that Moose Madden s death was an accident because he was drunk and tried to log roll but fell off and died. The reason I believe that Moose maddons death was an accident is because he was drunk the night of his death and went on a log and fell. In the text it says I figured it was Moose and Lefevre coming home drunk from camp three. Moose was intoxicated the night of his death which makes him clumsy and wobbly. It would be like driving drunk it s just as likely it even more likely he would fall of a log in the river as he would get into an accident. Also in the story it says, One day in the fall I will go to the ravine and see how the headline was making it. It still shocking to think that Maddon, who had been sure footed as a chipmunk, and our best log rolling contest, had fallen to his death the way he had. Moose Lilly thought he would be able to walk on the logs because he was one of the best at it. But since he was drunk he would be wobbly and his balance would be off so he fell into the ravine. ... • 11. The Importance of the Family in Louisa May Alcott Little... Many times people are asked to think about what is important to them. A person may say their home, car, children, material items and some may even say family. In the book Little Women (1868 1869) written by Louisa May Alcott illustrates several family values. The story of the March family starts out during the civil war in New England. The family is left to survive on their own because their father went to protect his country. During the years of life the March children, Margaret (Meg), Josephine (Jo), Beth and Amy, had to face the fact that they were very poor, and couldn t have everything that they fancied. Meg and Jo were several years older then both Beth and Amy and when it came time for the two to do grown up things and Amy was not allowed to do so, she got angry and told Jo that she would be sorry for leaving her out. As Jo enjoyed the theater Amy burned her manuscript, for Jo loved to write and had several stories written in a book which she called her manuscript. Upon returning Jo discovered that her joy was destroyed and felt she could never forgive Amy for what she had done. Once again Marmee being wise in her years told Jo, don t let the sun go down upon your anger; forgive each other, help each other, and begin tomorrow (88). With this advice it helped Jo forgive Amy and helped her though out the rest of her life when she was known to be very short tempered. With this advice family forgets all wrongs and helps each other on the road of life. Not only Marmee contributes to the family in her own subtle way. It is hard to be replaced for a different product, since it covers so many different needs. MOST ATTRACTIVE FACTOR OF THE 5 FORCES MODEL We believe that the most attractive factor in the microenvironment of the mobile phone industry is the threat of substitutes. As we have said above, the mobile phone does not have a real substitute since it offers a huge range of services and functions in just one device, and there are no other products that can offer these characteristics. The importance of communications today, has made the mobile phone a basic need for everyone, and the possibility of being in contact with the world at any time or place is a function offered exclusively by mobile phones. Both of the reasons explained above make this industry highly profitable and attractive for potential companies. LESS ATTRACTIVE FACTOR FOR THE FIVE FORCES MODEL After having analysed all the factors we have concluded that the less attractive factor is the powers of buyers for the cell phone industry. This is due to the fact that there are a lot of choices for customers when buying a mobile phone (high rivalry). The Sinking Of The Titanic A ship bigger than the world had ever seen, three years in the making, took less than three hours to sink into the depths of the ocean (Fowler; Build ; Yasuda 6; Sinking ; Interesting ; Hall 38; Stewart 8). In April of 1912, The RMS Titanic hit an iceberg and sank 12,000 feet to the ocean floor. This incident cost the lives of over 1,500 passengers and crew members, over half the total people that had been on board ( Sinking ). The Titanic was the largest ship ever built when it entered service, at 882 feet long, 92 feet wide, and 175 feet high, and was touted as unsinkable (Hall 19,38; Yasuda 5,7; Hopkinson 25; World s ; Stewart 8). Depending on what stage of production the firm is in, the law of diminishing returns affects the level of output. The law of diminishing returns states that as more units of a variable input (i.e. labor) are added to fixed amounts of land and capital, the change in total output will at first rise and then fall. Simple Simon is so under utilizing its labor that even if the number of workers is doubled, there is still not a reduction in the level of output per unit of labor. The theories of the enlightenment were centered around five basic concepts: reason, science, progress, liberty, and toleration. These lead themselves into thinking of the world in Realist terms. We must look at the universe and understand it from what we can see. A common train of thought was that humanity had grown far too comfortable depending on history and facts as they were retold. The Odyssey also displayed this kind of behavior towards females, Odysseus was very unfaithful in his relationship, while his wife was not, but he was still questioning her loyalty and even threatened death if she was caught in a fib. Yet, The Aeneid had a different approach to the origination to the chivalric code of treatment of women, there was no unpleasant treatment of women, yet the female characters were still ... • 32. Immigration Policy And The Immigration Sector Immigration PAD 3034 Juan Sarmiento Florida International University July 9th, 2015 Abstract In this paper, I decided to analyze the immigration policy. The immigration policies have had a deep history. The policies have been twisted, in the long run, to meet the demands of the time. However, most of the times, the policies have been unfair especially in regard to the immigrants. The overview contains a rich history of the policy progression and advancements in the immigration sector. In this paper, I decided to extrapolate on some few contemporary issues that are as a result of the immigration policies and laws. One of the contentious issues is the Visa policy. This is a system that is widely used by the US government. Though formulated with a good purpose, the formulation did not cater for everything that is associated with immigration. For instance, the immigrants who are on transit for employment are not selected based on the employment demand in the market, hence, they end up being stranded and thus are forced to accept low paying jobs with poor working conditions. The solution to this is also discussed in the paper. I have also discussed on the open door policy and its implications which include overpopulation. Overpopulation on its part has directly affected both the immigrants and natives with many adverse effects. I was able to do research, and I consequently came up with a set of alternative methods that could be of help. However, I have also discussed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Bishop T. D. Jakes And Elevation Church s Steven Furtick Interview Reflection In class, we viewed a discussion between bishop T.D. Jakes and Elevation Church s Steven Furtick. Jakes recently released a book by the title of Soar. This book gives insights into business and success through the lense of a Christian perspective. Many things he said were great takeaways; but one particular topic I would like to reflect on is the idea of asking God for things. We find ourselves asking God for tables. God doesn t make tables, He makes trees. Sometimes we want something super specific and nice without doing anything ourselves. It is hard to draw the line between how much free will we have, because of the fact that God is all knowing and all powerful. However, we should remember, as Christians, that God ... • 34. The Power of Social Engineers in The Art Of Deception by... The Art of Deception is an in depth look at the vulnerability that the common man has to the social engineer. Mitnick s perspective comes from a social angle instead of a technological one, seeing as he is known as the greatest hacker all over media and most of his methods weren t technologically inclined but socially. A quick look into Mitnick s background, he was an only child who had a knack for understanding the Nitti Gritty of technology. As a child, he managed to hack the bus system in Los Angeles and travel for free, exploited telephone networks as a teen and in college, infiltrated their network and was later hired because it was either that or expulsion. These are just a few of his many hacking exhibitions. He has served jail time because he realised what he did was wrong and is now helping companies avoid similar exploitations through his security company, public talks and through his books. In this day and age, where information is the new currency on the block, criminals are on the rise to acquire this information. The book highlights the different techniques and attacks of the social engineer and how easily we are persuaded into thinking that technology has secured us from these attacks. He shows these through a variety of stories that have actually happened as indications of our negligence to these attacks, but as well points out ways that we can protect ourselves from these attacks and become less victimized by the social engineer. He gets us to look through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Once GAMA is attach to the receptor sites on the protein neurons then the channel is opened and the chloride flow freely. Allowing these negatively charged chloride ions to flow into cells causes neurons to become less active and pulse less therefore the brain is sending and receiving fewer neurotransmitters (McKim 158). As talked about earlier, different drugs influence each of these neurotransmitters differently. Each psychoactive drug has different effects on the body and different uses. The term psychoactive describes a substance that affects the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord), producing changes in a person s mental activity or behavior. • 36. Compare The Red Scare And The Red Scare The Crucible VS. The Red Scare The Red Scare and The Salem Witch Trials were both events that left a mark in American history. The Red Scare began in 1917 and took place across the United States. The Red Scare was known as the widespread promotion of anti communism. The Salem Witch Trials began in 1692 and took place in Salem, Massachusetts. The Salem Witch Trials were various court hearings and prosecutions of people in Salem accused of Witchcraft. Arthur Miller wrote The Crucible, a play about The Salem Witch Trials, to send a message to Senator Joseph McCarthy, the face of The Red Scare. Even though both of these events took place at completely different times their connection remains profound. The Crucible and The Red Scare have various similarities and allegories that make both of these events connect despite the gap of time. Arthur Miller, wrote The Crucible with the intention of comparing The Red Scare to The Salem Witch Trials. One of the many similarities between The Red Scare and The Salem Witch Trials is the way both events started. Both events were started by people making false accusations. During The Red Scare people were accused of being communists. At one of his speeches in Wheeling, West Virginia, in 1950, Senator Joseph McCarthy claimed to hold in my hand a list of individuals who were both serving in government and participating in the communist party. (Brinkley2) Thanks to McCarthy s popular style, people never questioned his supposed list. During ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. Story Of The Hour And The Interlopers Analysis The Story of the Hour by Kate Chopin and The Interlopers by Saki are short stories that will leave you on your toes till the very end. Both stories deal with death, freedom, independence, and power. But, in those very ways they are alike, they are very different. While one is trying to be free by letting someone go, the other is trying to be free by forgiving someone and letting someone in a new friendship. The characters from both short stories are trying to have a new start and let go of a life time situation. The first similarity I found in the Story of the Hour and the Interlopers is that they both deal with a sense of death. But, the characters or on two different ends of the spectrum of death. In the Story of the Hour it reads, She did not hear the story as many women have heard the same, with a paralyzed inability to accept its significance. She wept at once, with sudden, wild abandonment, in her sister s arms. . This passage is talking about the reaction she had when she heard the news of her husband s death . The Interlopers read, The two enemies stood glaring at one another for a long silent moment. Each had a rifle in his hand, each had hate in his heart and murder uppermost in his mind. These two characters were enemies and wanted to kill each other out of hate. As we can see both short stories deal with death, but on different ends of the spectrum. The Story of the Hour is grieving the death of her husband. While in the Interlopers they re trying to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
