Dominion Mandate Report
The Role of the Dominion Mandate
The Dominion Mandate is the authority from God to Adam to give to all mankind dominion over
the entire earth. In Genesis 1:28 KJV states, And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be
fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the
sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. This book
has been called the cultural mandate because it demonstrates the place of human beings in creation
and calls us to work with the things God has made in which he is ruling over, ordering, arranging,
restructuring, increasing, and unfolding the capability which was given to us. It is the key to
understanding who we are in Christ ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Marketing Plan for Samsung Essay
Introduction
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd has proved to the world of business that they are one of the most
advanced technology companies in terms of revenue. With more advancement in the technology
which the present market can handle at this point, Samsung has made the way for the future in
electronics industry. It is the largest mobile phone maker and television manufacturer.
Samsung s New Toy
One of the most popular new toys in the electronics market today, is the unbelievable 3D TV. First
3D TV was launched in 2010 March, and has already had a significant impact on the electronics
market (Wilson, 2010). With release earlier this year, Samsung has dominated the market,
controlling approximately 90% of the total share. One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ability to market the brand name. Samsung has been able to position the market in such a way that
it has marketed the brand name strategically. It has been named the top rising brand by Interbrand
and is the 9th most valuable brand valued nearly $33 billion (Interbrand, 2012).
Weaknesses The Company might be able to market the product nicely or it might have been able to
get a large market share but there are certain weaknesses which the company has. Some of them are
listed below. Patent infringement. Samsung has a loose policy regarding the infringement of
patents. The company s patents were not done through a proper channel, thus ending up infringing
Apple s and other firms patents (Wikipedia, 2012). This outcome damaged Samsung s reputation
and suffered losses. Low profit margin. Samsung Electronics is the largest technology business in
the world in terms of revenue. But its low profit margin was the result of low cost of their product
and a price cut they had to endure (Wikipedia, 2012). Focus on too many products. This point could
be the strength as well as the weakness. Samsung Electronic serves many industries with many
different products in them. They lost their focus because there were competing in too many
products and too many industries, which was their disadvantage over their competitors
(Shaughnessy, 2013).
Opportunities
The technology is moving faster and faster, therefore electronics industries are still

Today I arrived at 8: 30. I organised the classroom and made it ready for pupils to come. After
assembly we did some time table practice. Next we had a new lesson for numeracy skills and I
supported a group of students. L. O. Was about the name of 2 D shapes and how can we recognise

should look at the shapes carefully and according the sides you must put in one circle. For
example, in circle 1 we have all shape with 4 sides that we call quadrilateral.
When they were doing the activity I was watching them how to do the activity. Sometimes I asked
them some questions to make sure that they understood completely. I observed all pupils in my
group loved to play with the colourful shapes and they separated them in the right circle. This
activity was very simple but through that the pupils can recognise the all type of shapes. When we
finished Miss B suggested each group should check other group work and they should find if there
is any mistake. While my group were checking other groups work I was with them and supported
them with explaining more.

Social Media And Substance Abuse
Social media is used widely by many across the nation, it is very prevalent in the lives of today s
college student and young adults to connect with friends attending different institutions or even
friends sitting just across the room. In a generation where technology is so heavily relied on and
even addicting to some, we have seen an increase of addictive behaviors. Does the overuse of
technology contribute to the rising alcoholand drug addictions as well as mental health issues? In
this paper I will discuss addictionand it s prevalence in the U.S. I will also discuss the use of

The frontal lobe of the brain helps individuals determine consequences from current actions, and it
also helps determine what is good or bad behavior. The development of the brain is lengthy and
reaches well into adulthood. This lengthy development explains the adolescents urges to seek out
new potentially dangerous situations and act impulsively.
Children have beliefs about alcohol, those beliefs are usually established by school age. School
age children generally believe alcohol is bad and understand the adverse effects of alcohol
however adolescents beliefs shift to a more positive view and adolescents who drink will express
the positive euphoric effects of alcohol.
Environmental factors also play a very large role in likeliness that adolescents will use alcohol.
Adolescents with parents and peers that use alcohol are more likely to view the use as acceptable.

faces challenges once Britain officially exits the European Union. With the loss of support from
Britain, Germany will be expected to contribute more, which ultimately puts more of an economic
strain on the country. This will force the country to reevaluate the current economic structure and
possibly lead to the redistribution of funds. Germany already makes the largest net contribution to
the EU each year with more than 15 billion in funds. Once Britain leaves the EU this net
contribution is expected to need to increase to 20 billion in funds. Germany s success is
additionally seen in other measures such as life expectancy, education, healthcare, and immigration.
Germany s population sports high longevity and a well educated workforce. Germany continually
receives record numbers of immigrants which is often an indicator of a strong economic market and
a successful country. Germany appears well positioned to handle future economic changes and

In the history of Indian and Sanskrit writing, Ramayana shines bright. Ramayana mirrors the Indian
society and in addition the perfect quality within human instinct. Our customary Ramayana begins

The idea of Pativrata can be outlined through the qualities of Urmila. From the narrative of
Ramayana, it is trusted that Urmila s wretchedness was even worse than Sita being far from her

specific end goal to satisfy his caring rights, he went with Rama, leaving Urmila for quite a while

High School Athletes Should Be Required
The NCAA states, Nearly eight million students currently participate in high school athletics in
the United States. More than 460,000 compete as NCAA athletes, and just a select few within
each sport move on to compete at the professional or Olympic level ( Estimated Probability ).
Everyone agrees that Americans have to improve academic achievement in schools today;
however, it is hard to do so with a barrage of athletic activities. Students are focusing more on
sports then academics, and this diversion seems to be costly. In order to fix this, high school
athletes should be required to maintain a 2.3 grade point average in order to participate in sports
because the primary mission of any serious academic institution must be to develop the young
person s intellectual and cognitive skills and help one get recruited; also, there is a very low
chance of athletes continuing their careers at the collegeor professional level.
The primary purpose of any academic institution is to develop and prepare a young person for
after his schooling years. In, The Purpose of Schools, Michael Peterson states the two goals of
any school: to teach students who have specific skills to perform jobs, and introduce students to
active citizenry (Peterson). In other words, Peterson argues how a school must prepare one for his
or her future instead of preparing them for a career in sports. John Dewey writes, Education should
create an interest in all persons in furthering the general good, so

Understanding Heart Failure
Understanding Heart Failure
Heart failure is a condition in which the heart muscle is unable to pump enough blood through the
heart to meet the body s need for blood and oxygen. Coronary artery disease is a form of heart
disease that effects the chambers of the heart. There are four chambers in the heart. The upper
chambers consist of a right and a left atrium and the lower chamber consists of the right and left
ventricles. The flow of oxygen rich blood travels from the lungs to the left atrium and into the left
ventricle where it is pumped into the rest of the body. When the heart functions properly, all four
chambers beat and pump blood effectively in an organized way. The Virtual Medical Centre

Why Did Robert Borden Use Conscription In 1917
Why Using Conscription in 1917 was a Good Idea
During war time 1917, the conditions overseas were not ideal. Many men were dying, making
more volunteers necessary, while the numbers of volunteers were dropping rapidly. Originally,
Prime Minister Robert Borden promised that there would be no conscription during the First World
War, but, due to numbers of volunteers dropping and promising Britain more troops, he created the
Military Services Act that allowed conscription, which called all men ages 20 45 to war in 1917,
then was passed and effective on January 1st, 1918. This leads to the controversy, was using
conscription in World War 1 necessary? Some people argued that it was not necessary for the act
to be passed and for conscription to not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Soldiers were dying quickly, conditions in the trenches were very poor and Britain was losing
power fast which caused Britain to ask for more troops. Specifically, after the Battle of Somme s
Canada was at a loss of men and a lot of current soldiers were wounded, and Canada needed more
men to be able to fight the Germans so they would not be able to get an edge over the British
Army and possibly take over Britain and later Canada. Borden then visited Europe and returned
with his decision after seeing that In May that year, prime minister Robert Borden returned to
Canada from Europe and decided the country couldn t replenish the depleted battle lines without
conscription. This all helped Borden make final choice to create the bill in 1917 and call the men
to war. The reinforcements that Canada provided would later help win Britain win the first World
War and keep a good relationship between Canada and Britain. Therefore, the reinforcements that
were sent, increased Canada and Britain s morale s toward each other. Canada was part of the
British Crown, which meant that they were forced to war in hand with Britain in 1914. When
Britain started to lose men in 1917 Prime Minister Robert Borden flew to Europe and promised

The Impact of a Third Party AmericaВґs Two Party Political System
For hundreds of years, the two party system has dominated the American culture, but many people
are confused by what a two party system actually means. Although a two party system is defined as
two parties that are bigger than the rest, third parties have greatly impacted elections for over a
hundred years. Minor parties still continuously voice their opinions in issues, causing other
candidates of either major party to adopt their philosophies. Furthermore, some parties, such as the
Reform have actually been successful in obtaining a position, such as governor. Finally, third party
candidates have actually taken away votes from a number of nominees over the years. ... Show more

All of these positions influence the people to consider the presidential minor parties, thus having
an impact on the presidential elections. When a party wins a local office as a minor party, the
name of whatever the minor party is spreads around all the way around the United States. Not
only does winning a local office help the victor, but it also helps the member of the same party
who runs for President. The most recent example of a third party winning an office is the
Independent Senator, Jim Jeffords of Vermont. Jeffords, who was once a Republican, became an
Independent because he felt he no longer supported the policies of George W. Bushs Republican
Party. With Jeffords transformation to the Independent Party, he has promoted the Independent
Party over the last three years and continues to be a prominent figure in the modern Independent
world. In terms of governor, Jesse Ventura was elected as the Reform Party s Governor of
Minnesota where he advocated and endorsed the typical Reform beliefs. Ventura shocked the
world with the exception of other minor party candidates, who believed any party could win with
a strong campaign. Ventura has been credited with being one of the first few people to employ the
Internet in a political campaign. The Green party in 2002 saw its greatest year of elections in its
history with 71 new offices obtained. The Green Party then had a total of 170 officeholders around
the United States, showing

Socrates Was A Greek Philosopher And The Main Source Of...
Socrates was a Greek philosopher and the main source of Western thought. He was born circa
470 BC, in Athens, Greece and also through the writings of his students, Plato and Xenophon we
of his life. Socrates was the son of Sophroniscus, an Athenian sculptor and stone maker, and
Phaenarete, a midwife. Because he was not from a superior family, he got a basic Greek education
and learned his father s craft at a young age. Before Socratesdevoted his life to philosophy, it is
believed he worked as a mason for many years. Socrates married Xanthippe, a younger woman and
they had three sons Lamprocles, Sophroniscus and Menexenus. Furthermore, the Athenian law
required all able bodied males serve as citizen soldiers for duty from ages 18 until they were 60.
According to Plato, Socrates served in the armoured infantry known as the hoplite with shield, face
mask and long spear. He participated in three military campaigns during the Peloponnesian War, at
Delium, and Potidaea, Amphipolis where he saved the life of Alcibiades, a popular Athenian
general. A trait that stayed with him throughout his life was his courage in battle and fearlessness.
After his trial, he compared his refusal to retreat from his legal troubles to a soldier s refusal to
retreat from battle when threatened with death. Plato s Symposium provides the best details of
Socrates s physical appearance, saying that he was not the ideal of Athenian masculinity. Short and

Themes Found In Disney Princess Movies
Many can relate to the classic instance in which a young child does a strange act, such as body
slamming his brother like John Cena, with the parent knowing exactly where he learned it from:
his favorite television show or movie. Let s face it: children are smarter than we often give them
credit for. They observe the patterns and themes they see in movies and other media, using them to
draw conclusions about the world around them. At surface level, this is not necessarily bad. There
is nothing wrong about learning something from an electronic source, even if it is only a wrestling
move. However, the issue with these conclusions and simplifications arises when they are applied
to more complex themes: the ones that cannot be adequately outlined... Show more content on

This is shown in the movie Sleeping Beauty, in which Aurora is only saved because of the prince s

improves her appearance in order to get Prince Charming, a man who has never even spoken to
her, to search the entire kingdom to marry and save her from her family. Although there is nothing
wrong with being beautiful or needing help, making external beauty a primary ambition is
dangerous for young girls. Some might falsely assume that beauty is the most important trait to
have, since many movies are centered around this idea. If girls believe that they need to be
beautiful in order to be valuable in society, this could cause them to feel even more insecure about
their appearances if they do not look like their favorite princesses. Furthermore, beautiful girls
might never try to improve any other skills if they believe that beauty is all they need, which might

Executive Summary
Policy Makers in the United Kingdom may as well take notice and acknowledge that lower
corporate tax can give essential profits to business competiveness without fundamentally hurting the
medium term budget viewpoint.
Several countries lately have reduced or plan to reduce their corporate tax rates in order to stimulate
investment, create jobs and promote faster economic growth. This includes the Ireland where the
rate of Corporation Tax has been kept at 12%.Recently published report of Northern Ireland (NI)

Studies by Economist Lee and Gordon(2004) found viewed the connection between corporate tax
rates and economic growth for 70 nations over a 27 year period they discovered that statutory
corporate charge rates are fundamentally adversely related with cross sectional distinctions in
normal economic development rates and that reducing the corporate duty rate by 10 percent can
deliver a additional growth rate of 1.1%
Studies such as these provide strong evidence that lower corporate taxes do lead to long term
economic growth and by having high rates we retard the nation growth potential.
Competiveness
The Canadian legislature has set an unequivocal objective of having a lowest corporate tax in the
Group of Seven (G7) nations on January 1st, Canada brought down its corporate tax rate from 18
percent to 16.5 percent. the rate will eventually decrease to 15 percent. The Japanese
administration also affirmed corporate tax deduction by 5 percent with a specific end goal to

competiveness and improving business environment. Lee and Gordon (2004) argue that the

Australian Lifestyles And Living Conditions

basic conditions, these are, stronger market conditions, weaker market conditions and ideal

Comparing A Streetcar Named Desire And The Glass Menagerie
The text from A Streetcar Named Desire and The Glass Menagerie, both written by the renowned
author Tennessee Williams, deal with the topics of life s pressures, and the desire to succeed in
everything we do. Oftentimes, people place unrealistic expectations upon us and set the bar higher
than we can achieve, or even want to reach. People end up developing mechanisms to deal with
these stresses and tensions that have been created (Billington 2016). We find other unhealthy
habits and vices to supplant the reality we are trying to escape, that hopefully will take away this
pain and suffering we are experiencing. In both of these plays, the characters are not able to live in
their present realities. Two of the main characters are closely listate.... Show more content on

Eats like one, moves like one, talks like one! (Williams 1947). Blanche is on a wave that will
take her to an eventual death. Blanche initially interacts with Stanley in a prehistoric type of
attitude. She uses a woman s wiles to make herself seem desirable. After all, a woman s charm is
fifty percent illusion. (Williams 1947). Blanche only knows this way. To be the kind of woman
that a misogynistic man would want. Sex is what validates her existence, without it she becomes
nothing, or worse she is dead. She is flirtatious and uses her charms to gain the upper hand in her
new surroundings. In the end, though, Stanley rapes Blanche, which causes her to lose grip
with what little reality she still had. This event decimated her, it killed what was left inside of
her. Her illusions no longer existed. The final scene has Blanche stating to a doctor who is a
stranger and appears to be a gentleman, Whoever you are I have always depended on the
kindness of strangers. (Williams 1947), as she walks away with him. Amanda has alternately been

A Comparison of Mrs Casper, Mr Sugden and Mr Farthing s Treatment of Billy in Barry Hines
Billy s Last Stand In this essay I will attempt to compare the ways in which the three main
characters in this story treat Billy, Mrs Casper, Mr Sugden and Mr Farthing. The book is set in
the sixties in a mining village in Yorkshire. First of all I will discuss Billy, he is a young and
naive boy, he is about to leave school which is a place he hates. He doesn t get on with most of
the teachers and rebels against their rules. He hates and is hated, his family and friends are harsh to

There is no father figure for Billy to look up to, so maybe that is where he has his rebellious naive
attitude. To add to it all his motheris more interested in going out, than looking after her son, and
also her other son Jud, he doesn t look after Billy at all. An example of Billy s rebellious side is
on page 19. Billy get up to that shop and do as you re telled. He shook is head. His mother
stepped forward, but he backed off, keeping the same distance between them. Billy was already
late for school, yet his mother wanted him to go up to the shop and buy her cigarettes, this
shows she is more concerned with herself than Billy, and his life and school. Another example of
her not caring and showing affection was when Billy was reading his book and she asks about it,
and when he is half way through explaining she realises she is late and runs out to go to the pub,
leaving Billy to fend for himself. A kestrel hawk, what do you think it is?
I say what time is it?
She then runs out and leaves him to fend for himself.
Further more, when Billy needs his mum the most and actually goes to hug his mother when he is
in tears, she rejects him, shaking him off her and telling him to grow, this shows a lack of
maternal qualities once again, and even shows she is embarrassed to be a

Activation of Protein Kinases by Means of Stochastic...
Short overview The current technology is based on protein kinase activation by means of
stochastic resonance mediated through pulsed electrical fields of very low signal strength. The
mode of action reveals how even small pulsed electrical fields can have a major influence on
cellular function and physiological consequences. It is well known that biological sensory systems
transform analog quantities such us pressure, temperature, electric fields (E fields) etc. into trains
of information. All the features of systems exhibiting stochastic resonance were found to be present
in cell signaling systems which are intrinsically noisy, nonlinear threshold systems. We observed the
effects of pulsed electrical fields of intensity near that of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We visualize the mechanism as that of a working Brownian ratchet where transitions into a
different activated state can be favored. We observed that changing frequencies of E fields
causes enhanced activation from 2 to 100 Hz and that higher frequencies cause reduced
activation. Thus the system fulfills the requirements of a stochastic resonance system with a
∩ shaped curve. Introduction: Stochastic resonance (SR) occurs in a system with a threshold
or barrier such as in a protein when a correct input of information transfer (changes in specific
electrical fields effecting charged particles and signal to noise ratio) is maximized in the
presence of a specific non zero level of stochastic input noise (such as randomly fluctuating
electrical fields) thereby lowering the response threshold. The system will then resonate at a
particular noise level. Thus, stochastic resonance is a term which describes that one time scale is
established by the period of the external stimulus and the other by the position to position
switching rate induced by the stochastic process or noise. By this effect a synchronization of a
nonlinear system to a weak periodic signal can be enhanced by the presence of random
fluctuations. A weak periodic signal is one which cannot by itself produce switchin g between
positions in protein subunits. In such systems the essence of the signal enhancing effect of SR can
be understood in following way: In the absence of stimuli there are few and random

Why Do You Think Downward Communication Is much more...
Organizational communication is a sustainable system of people working together to achieve a
common goal, through division levels of stratification according to rank and duty (Everet M.
Rogers). Communication is the means whereby organizations coordinate management of material
resources and human resources through formal structural pattern of the duties and authority (Robert
Bonnington).Communicationorganizations are sending and receiving various messages in the
cluster formal organization or informally from an organization (Wiryanto, 2005). In organization,

So it helps in establishing official discipline in the organization. The third of advantages is an
increasing efficiency. Downward communication provides necessary guidance, orders, instructions
and explanations of various complex issues to the subordinates that ultimately increase the
efficiency of the employees. The fourth of advantages is an informing organizational plans and
procedures. In an organization, the top level executives develop the plans, policies, strategies,
procedures etc. downward communication plays a significant role in communicating those plans,
policies, strategies and procedures to the lower levels of the organization. The fifth of advantages is
an explaining the complex issues. Sometimes subordinates need explanation of organizational
policies and procedures. In such situations, managers rely on downward communication to provide
necessary explanations and analysis.
The sixth of advantages is an Issuing orders and instructions. Downward communication is the only
means to circulate various orders, instructions, guidance and advices to the subordinates. Without
downward communication, organization is like a boat without boatman. The seventh of advantages

established chain of command of the organization. Thus, it reduces the chance of sending message

Role Of Art In The Arts
Can the arts play a role in solving international conflicts? At first, my answer was a no. I mean
international conflicts are complex and far reaching. How could the arts possibly play a role?
However, throughout the day I thought about it more. I thought about how music, novels, films,
paintings can affect us on a very personal level. There have been plenty of times when art has put
me in either the best of moods or in the worst of moods. I then realized that the arts can play a role.
Perhaps not directly, but it can influence culture and culture can influence society which can then
affect the world. The main examples that came to my mind was The Beatlesand Bob Marleys One
Love Peace concert. However, before getting into that I want to discuss the benefit concert held by
Ariana Grande after the Manchester terrorist attack.
On May 22nd, 2017 there was a bombing at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England
that killed 22 people and wounded more than 100. I remember when I found out about the
bombing. I was utterly shocked and appalled, especially how some people on social media and
the internet were already making jokes about it. I just didn t understand how someone could do
something like that. However, whenever I found out that Ariana Grande was going to hold a One
Love Manchester just weeks after the attack I was both surprised and moved by it. I respected

Leadership Theory And Organizational Culture
Abstract
The role of leadership has evolved over the years. Early leadership theories focused on the
characteristics of the leader and have shifted to focus on the leader s behavior, skills and style.
Emerging leadership theories continued to shift focus to team leadership and subordinate
motivation. Organizational culture is exists in all organizations and influences the work
environment. Researchers have studied leadership and organizational culture individually; however
there have been less focus on gaining an understanding of the relationship leadership and
organizational culture.
In this paper, I will explore various leadership theories and relationship with organization culture. I
will also reflect on the type of leadership style that promotes a positive organizational culture.
Introduction
Leaders set the tone for the organization while Organizational culture sets the values that influence
the work environment. There needs to be some clarity on whether leadership influences
organizational culture or does organizational culture influence leadership. In order to understand the
relationship between leadership and organizational culture, we must first define them.
Leadership defined
Leadership is a process whereby an individual influences a group of individuals to achieve a
common goal. (Northouse, 2013). Leadership involves establishing clear visions, communicating
the vision to followers, and developing strategies to achieve those goals. Leaders are

Inherit The Wind-PEA Essay
Inherit The Wind PEA Political Spectrum Prompt
For Bertram Cates, Henry Drummond, and Matthew Harrison Brady, I would put them on different
Political Spectrums. First, I would put Bertram Cates on the left side of the spectrum, as a Liberal,
because of his beliefs, willingness to accept change, and his opinion on moral issues. Bertram Cates
believes and teaches Evolution, which goes against the law of teaching the story of Creation,
written in the bible. In the first scene of the movie, Bert is observed teaching the theory of
Evolution by some policeman, in which he is arrested for going against the story of Creation.
This shows that as Bertram s role of a Liberal, he has no religious values and believes in
whatever he wants too. Also, Bertram has the ability to accept change more, because he is
convinced that Evolution disproves Creation. In scene 1 of the movie he says, Scientists have
high beliefs that Evolution disproves the story of Creation, which has lead me to have the same
belief. Bert is an open minded person, which is a characteristic of a Liberal. Lastly, Bertram
believes that the government should have no involvement in his beliefs. On page 115 of the book,

arguing for Bertram, he still keeps in mind of the word of the Bible. Listen to this: Genesis 4:16.
And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod on the East of

maintenance schedules, licensing, and rates of depreciation.
Although it offers other functions, the main purpose of this application was designed for asset
management. Using the collected data about an asset, the system, Unifier sends notifications or
work orders at scheduled intervals to the designated respondents who then perform the needed
tasks. For example, information about a fleet vehicle can be loaded into the Unifier system and the
system will send reminders for preventative maintenance based on manufacturer recommendations
for age and mileage. Scheduling oil changes, fluid flushes, tire rotations, and belt changes is made
much easier through Unifier. It can also provide the maintenance worker with the exact information,
specifications, and directions they need to perform a given activity. Ensuring that preventative

A leader is most effective when this communication has respect, and trust. There is one criticism of
this theory based on fairness. Because of the dynamics of in and out groups, all group members

One of those ways is situational leadership, a theory first proposed by Paul Hersey and Ken
Blanchard in the Training and Development Journal in 1969. They viewed traditional leadership
as one side no longer fits every situation. Situational leadership his was designed to address the
dilemma of matching managers to proper job based on maturity and leadership skills. Blanchard
and Hersey theorized that various situations called for different types of leadership. In order to be
successful, a leader has to be able to adapt to those different situations (Northouse, p.99). Situational
leadership has four leadership styles that help influence the subordinates. A leaders decisions are
based on the ability and motivation of his or her subordinates, ranging from highly motivated and hi

None of the styles is considered to be optimal. In order for leaders to be effective, they must be

Abstract
This paper examines the effects that cannabis abuse has on human health over an extended period.
Over the years, some researchers have concluded that continuous use of the drug during
adolescence, but not adulthood, could permanently impair cognition and increase the risk for
psychiatric diseases. Other studies suggest that heavy use amongst users can cause changes in
subjective mental status, brain functioning, and neuropsychological performance. Approximately
9% of those who experiment with cannabis will become addicted, and the treatment for addiction
can be challenging, as it often leads to withdrawal symptoms. Consequently, most governments
around the globe decided to enact legislation in the early to mid 20th century, to help control its
abuse; however, recently, some countries in the Western World have begun to allow its use for
medicinal and recreational purposes. All information for the writing of this paper has been

Cause Of The Korean War
Cause of the Korean War The Korean War is often referred to as the forgotten war, but when 5
million people are killed during a three year period, the war should not be so easily forgotten.
(Staff, 2009) The causes of the war need to be reviewed, so that in the future, humanity can view
ways to prevent it from happening again. There are numerous factors that need to be considered
when examining the causes of the Korean War, such as the way the Korean peninsula came to be
North and South Korea, the role Korea played during the Cold War, the type of governments that
were put into place after the North and South were separated, and the support that was provided to

The United States also did not want the Soviet Union to strengthen their hold in the Pacific with the
fear of communism spreading across the world. This caused tensions between the two countries that

The Korean War had a profound effect on the Cold War. The USSR and U.S. provided a lot of
support for North and South Korea during and after the war based on the agendas of Moscow
and Washington. After World War II, with the divided of Germany and Korea, the Cold War had

the United Nations as a threat in Europe and the same can be said for the Korean peninsula.

Examples Of Imperialism In The Jungle Books And The Second...
The Jungle Books The First Jungle Book and The Second Jungle Book is a collection of short
stories, several of which have the same protagonist, by Rudyard Kipling, published in 1894 and
1895 respectively. The stories that are relevant to this essay take place in the jungles of India and in
a bungalow in the 19th century. The Mowglistories tell the story of a boy, found and raised in the
jungle, whose primal life is full of adventures, all the while struggling with his own humanity.
Meanwhile, Rikki Tikki Tavi is about a mongoose, separated from his relatives, who ends up with a
British family whom he must save from the local fauna. Kipling wrote these, and many other
stories, with children in mind, therefore one might assume that the message is as innocent as can be

Although limited, one can observe evidence of imperialism in the stories in both literal and
symbolic references. As we have seen, the English are the ones who provide safety and
protection for those who need their help, and the animals and Mowgli both represent the
inhabitants of the Raj. While this is the case, imperialism is more apparent in the tale of Rikki
Tikki Tavi than The Jungle Books. It is easier to compare Rikki Tikki s story with that of India s
during colonial times, as the symbols are clearer and the plot seems historically telling.
Additionally, Mowgli share some similarities with Kipling s childhood, both being born (...) a
god among mere mortals, struggling to find a real home. Finally, while some critics praise
Kipling s literature, a few condemn his work for being in favor of the empire, but is this the case
for the Jungle Books? Perhaps so, but it could also be the result of subconscious thoughts that he

Name: Chris RatliffSection #: 13
Instructions: 1. Use this sheet as the cover sheet. 2. Each question must begin on a new page. 3.
There is no minimum length, remembering quality over quantity. 4. The analysis must be typed
double spaced. 5. Due date is Monday, March 14th at 3:00 PM and is due electronically (as an
email attachment).
After reading the case...Imagine that you are CEO of GigaNet and must consider the following in
trying to solve this dilemma.
Questions:
1. Describe the current situation surrounding GigaNet? 2. What options are available to you? How
does each of these options serve your personal interests, those of investors and those of employees?
3. What do you recommend be done in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As CEO if I were to deny the offer, I would be putting a lot of trust into the potential of the
company and how far it could take all of its employees. I would have to trust that the hot streak this
company will continue to a point where the value exceeds the offer from Emulex. From the
employee perspective I would be happy if the offer was denied, simply because the culture instilled
within Giganet is one of mutual benefit and teamwork. Currently the employees know that the
harder they work to make Giganet a success, the more wealthy they will get. Knowing that
momentum is with them and that an acquisition would only change the dynamic of the job, I
assume that employee would be very satisfied with a choice to deny the buyout offer. Even though
it means that they will have to work extremely hard for a good amount of time, the potential of
where the company will go motivates them.
3.) After considering the situation, who the decision affects, and my past experiences as CEO I
would deny Giganet s offer to buy the company out. Although I am extremely interested in a
buyout, companies like Tranmeta Corporation and Arrowpoint motivate to move on with initial
plans with investor in continuing to build the company until it can eventually go public.
Arrowpoint, a company comparable to Giganet at one point, was able to raise $4 billion in their
IPO and were able to turn around and sell out to Cisco Systems for $5.7 billion. With all

Silky Sifaka Research Paper
The silky sifaka (Propithecus candidus), or silky simpona, is a large lemur characterized by
long, silky white fur. It has a very restricted range in northeastern Madagascar, where it is known
locally as the simpona. It is one of the rarest mammals on Earth, and is listed by the International
Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as one of the world s 25 most critically endangered
primates. The silky sifaka is one of nine sifaka species (genus Propithecus), and one of four
former subspecies of diademed sifaka (P. diadema). Studies in 2004 and 2007 compared external
proportions, genetics, and cranio dental anatomy supporting full species status, which has
generally been accepted. The silky sifaka has a variable social structure, and lives in groups of
two to nine individuals. It spends most of its day feeding and resting, though it also devotes a
considerable amount of time to social behaviors, such as playing and grooming, as well as
traveling. Females occasionally take priority over males during feeding. Like other eastern
sifakas, it consumes mainly leaves and seeds, but also fruit, flowers, and even soil on occasion.
It is a seasonal breeder and only mates one day a year during the start of the rainy season. As with
other sifaka species, non maternal infant care is common. Group members of all ages and both
sexes will... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A few groups have also been found in the Makira Forest Protected Area, the Betaolana Corridor,
and some unprotected forest fragments. The silky sifaka is hunted throughout its range as there is
no local fady (taboo) against eating this species. Habitat disturbance, such as slash and burn
agriculture (tavy), illegal logging of precious woods (particularly, rosewood) and fuel wood, also
occurs within the protected areas where it is

Macbeth s Character Analysis
Hal doesn t always get David.
Maybe it s not so surprising, he was never a people person, but a computer person because
computers aren t strangely passive aggressive and don t give you cryptic answers and short words
punctuated with drags of cigarettes
Okay, yeah, maybe he s thinking about Snake again.
And that s a problem in itself, how every thought he has always finds a way to come back to him
but his brain has no pause button and it has no brakes to slam on when they re forced together to
conserve warmth and David still manages to somehow be warm and they re definitely not cuddling

Dave wasn t like him, he didn t smile when he was uneasy or when he was so angry that s all he
could do, or when he was upset and smiling was all he could do. He smiled in moments that were
worth it to him, when he was able to let himself be vulnerable and human and those times made
Otacon feel like he won the fucking jackpot.
You think too much, Is all he says, but the arm resting on the back of the sofa makes its way to
around Hal s shoulder and pulls him just a little bit closer and it could just be for the warmth, but
for right now he s done thinking and he s okay with feeling.
Hal wakes up an hour later with Dave s hair ghosting his cheek and a head leaning against his and

The Good Soldier Analysis
Within the novel The Good Soldier, by Ford Maddox Ford, narration serves as an imperative
framing mechanism for propelling the plot of the story, while also generating the fragmentation
necessary for maintaining the unclarity that pervades John s story. By both subtly positioning the
narrator John Dowell as an outsider relative to the other characters, and consequently emphasizing
the notion of being outside, Ford facilitates a pointillistic representation of the infidelities that
characterize his story. Not only does Ford distance Dowell from the other characters in his narrative
, but he also prompts the reader to reject John as an omnipotent, reliable source, thereby provoking
the former to rely on interpretation as the primary means for finding resolution. Emphasizing
several factors that distinguish John from the other characters, such as his nationality, his inclusion
in and knowledge of the infidelitous relationships, his personality type, his future reflective
standpoint, and his tendency to infuse his current attitudes and nostalgia into his retelling of this
story, Ford employs narration as the essential mechanism for framing the story.
Initially denoting both his position as an outsider, and his efforts to justify the abhorrent,
adulterous, behavior of Edward Ashburnham and Florence, Dowell frames himself as an American
who is merely observing British culture. While establishing himself within his story, Dowell claims
that the adulterous affair is, I believe, a state of things only possible with English people of whom,
till today, when I sit down to puzzle out what I know of this sad affair, I knew nothing whatever,
proceeding to concede that Six months ago [he] had never been to England (13). That Ford notes
this distinction on the first page of the narrative forces the reader to immediately consider John as a
relative outsider in the story, a notion that is compounded by the latter s constantly identifying
cultural differences between himself and the Ashburnhams. By conceding that he had not even
traveled to England prior to his experience with the Ashburnhams, Dowell implicitly frames their
cultural differences as responsible for Edward Ashburnham s infidelitous tendencies and Leonora s

Analysis Of Any Hope Of Ever Seeing You Again By Eugenio...
Eugenio Montale was an Italian poet who was named the Greatest Italian poet since Leopardi
(Hecht). He was a hopeless romantic and that translated into his poetry and was the theme for
most of it aswell, and the poem Any Hope of Ever Seeing you Again is no exception. The poem
Any Hope of Ever Seeing you Again portrays two different sides to a story and can be interpreted
in many ways due to its style of writing.
Eugenio Montale was born in Genoa in 1896. In WWI he wa an infirmary worker and later chief
literary critic for Italy with the Corriere Della Sera. He was a music critic, translator and was made
a lifetime member of the Italian Senate in 1967. He also won the Nobel Prize in Literature in
1975. He died six years later in Milan, 1981. In 1927 he fell in love with a married woman who
he nicknamed Mosca which means fly. It is believed that this was borrowed from Ben Jonson s
Volpone. Montale stayed devoted to her until her husband died in 1958. They were married until
Mosca died five years later. He also met an American author named Irma Brandeis who influences
some of his work, which mostly revolves around unattainable love. She made him feel better
through the Fascist years, so when they became separated, he used what he was feeling and put it
into poetry.
Montale wrote his poetry during an era where the theme amor de lonh, love from afar, was
popular, which is also tied to donna angelicata or angelic lady. Donna angelicata is mostly tied to
communication attempts to an allusive lover. His poems are often really personal, including a
lady figure with many names, some of which including Gertu, Liuba, Vixen, Dora and others.
Some of the influencers for his poems include Plato, Shakespeare, Petrarch and The Bible. His
poems almost always deal with fragmentary experience, the meaning of which is either obsucr or
possibly, terrifyingly absent. In Montales Any Hope of Ever Seeing you Again , the last five lines
portray strong imagery, which makes the author maybe be destitute or could be seen as the author
carrying some kind of burden. In line six the poem contains descriptive words such as distorted
and tenuous which Convey deep emotion (Bella). The use of these words create a depressing aura

The Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990 The Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990,

revised and introduced again in 1989 by Senator Tom Harkin, Senator Durrenberger, Representative
Coelho, and Representative Fish in the 101st Congress (https://www.congress.gov/congressional

When the ADA didn t pass through Congress in 1988, a joint hearing was held before the Senate
Subcommittee on Disability Policy and the House Subcommittee on Select Education (https:/

as well as parents of disabled children discussed the barriers that people with disabilities
constantly face and the stereotyping and prejudice that is so prevalent in their lives. According to
the Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund, after the hearing, a commitment was made by
Senator Kennedy, Chair of the Labor and Human Resources Committee, Senator Harkin, Chair of
the Subcommittee on Disability Policy, and Representative Owens of the House Subcommittee
on Select Education, that a comprehensive disability civil rights bill would be a top priority for
the next Congress (https://dredf.org/news/publications/the history of the ada/). The hearing
helped set the stage for the major steps in the congressional process. According to the Library of
Congress, after being revised and reintroduced to Congress, the first step in the Congressional
process began when the ADA was introduced to the Senate in May of 1989. In August of 1989, it
passed on to the Committee on Labor and Human Resources and then in September, it passed with
an amendment in the Senate 76 8. In May of 1990, it was passed in the House

Lucretius Beliefs
Epicurus supported that the images people had for gods were varying due to the different
preconceptions that had been implanted to every person separately. Very often there were false
convictions expressed by people even if their preconceptions reflected their own natural goals.
Lucretius protested against voices who presented gods as having evil intents and as prone to
partiality and fury: Unhappy human race, to attribute such behavior, and bitter wrath too, to the
gods! What lamentations did they lay up for themselves in those days, what wounds for us, what
tears for our descendants ? Moreover, Lucretius stated: Unless you expel these ideas from your
mind and drive far away beliefs unworthy of the gods and alien to their tranquillity,... Show more

Even Epicurus followers were confused and perplexed by Epicurus theology such as Lucretius and
Cicero s Vellius who combined information and syllogisms that satisfied realists as well as idealists.
Both interpretative parties had their own reasons to attach Epicurus both to the realistic and the
idealistic context and both of them had to defend their theories against arguments that worth
consideration. I personally believe that Epicurus was more an idealist than a realist. He obviously
stated that there are gods a statement that could easily describe him as a realist but the fact that he
encouraged people to construct the conception of god and that their true nature, lifestyle and way
of thinking were completely unknown to people compel me to believe that Epicurus was idealist
and gods were merely thought constructs articulating people s unrealistic view of the life they
desired. Philodemus mentioned that Epicurus involved himself in all the traditional festival and
sacrifices . However, this attestation does not prove that Epicurus was surely devoutly religious
and believed that gods were existing living beings; he could have acted in that way to give a boost
to his social status or even to protect himself from the dangerous accusations of

The Role of Adult Basic and Literacy Education Essay
The Role of Adult Basic and Literacy Education
With the passage of the 1988 Family Support Act (FSA), adult basic and literacy education was
linked to welfare reform. Based on experimentation with welfare reform during the previous
decade, the FSA created the Job Opportunities and Basic Skills Training Program (JOBS). JOBS,
which requires states to make educational services available to welfare recipients, was created in
response to the general consensus that welfare recipients are not well prepared to enter the work
force (Cohen et al. 1994). One of its major underlying assumptions is that a strong foundation of
literacy and basic skills is critical to the successful transition to employment and self sufficiency for

Some of this research is based on experiments with welfare to work programs leading up to the
FSA (e.g., California s Greater Avenues for Independence [GAIN] program), but much of it deals
directly with the experiences of providing adult basic and literacy education to JOBS participants.
This Practice Application Briefreviews some of these research findings and describes their
implications for practice.
What Does the Research Say?
Evaluation studies of employment and training programs, including the Comprehensive
Employment and Training Act (CETA), the Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA), and JOBS, are
one body of research that can inform practice. This research has been conducted over the past 20
years primarily on demonstration programs designed to improve the basic skills and
employability of disadvantaged adults. A synthesis (Cohen et al. 1994) of this research resulted in
the following conclusions that have a bearing on the role of adult basic and literacy education in
welfare to work programs:
Because they use traditional pedagogical approaches for which many adults have little tolerance,
adult basic and literacy education programs have experienced difficulty attracting and retaining
participants. Furthermore, many low skilled adults see no connection between this traditional
approach and their primary goal of getting a

Primary Objective Of Starting A Business Essay
The primary objective of starting a business is to gain customers, and it is the most crucial part in
the success of running a business. In order to thrive into today s economy business entities across
the globe use marketing as a tool for gaining new customers and retaining the existing ones (Wood,
2008). Thus, marketingremains to be the main backbone of new and existing businesses successes.
Apparently, there are several basic concepts of marketing, which are commonly used by numerous
marketers of goods and services. These marketing concepts comprise of the sellers, consumers, the
product development, the market research, product positioning, the product image, the product
concept, and the brand loyalty. These concepts combined with the marketing boundaries help in
determining the consumer behaviour of the product under marketing. It is important to state that
the marketing concepts dictate that the success of a firm often depends on the marketing efforts
that a company employs (Wood,2008) The concepts also dictate that the successes of a company
will depend with how it delivers a better value proposition compared to its competitors. Thus, it is
appropriate for the stakeholders of a given business entity to understand that that effective
marketing drive consumers into the company.
There are several basic concepts of marketing, which are commonly used by numerous marketers
of goods and services, but it all depends on the type of good or service been marketed and the

How Does Romulus My Father Relate To Belonging
It is in human nature to strive towards a sense of Belonging, a process that incites the creation, or
deterioration of a sense of personal and cultural identification. The memoir, Romulus, My Father,
by Raimond Gaita; John Guare s play, Six Degrees of Separation; and Tim Winton s short story, Big
World, from the collection, The Turning, explore the concept that Belonging is the driving force for
the human condition. Each composer represents their varied perceptions of belonging in their texts,
conveying that Belonging as a fundamental need we strive for in our search to create a concrete
identity.
The memoir, Romulus, My Father, portrays the ways in which immigrants in 1950 s rural Victoria
struggled to be accepted in a foreign society, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Guare uses the post modern technique of fragmentation to purposely distance the audience from the
action. This technique causes the audience to immediately see the fear of rejection and isolation by
society felt by the characters, provoking the audience to reflect the characters determination to be
accepted.
Guares darker twist on the need to belong is represented through the central motif of the play, the
Kandinsky, the two sided painting, a metaphor for the different dimensions of a person. Guare
seems to be suggesting that to belong in our modern society, we must follow the rules dictated by
society and hide our true desires. This is enhanced by the characterization of Ouisa and Flan who
present themselves as courteous, but expose the audience to their true intentions of striving to
connect to a higher social class: Having a rich friend is like drowning, and your friend makes life
boats. The character Paul is a symbol of this determination and desperation, creating the persona of
Sidney Poitier s son for the acknowledgement and acceptance he receives from it. He uses deception
of his true identity to minimize social marginalization and fulfill his emotional need to connect.
Like Romulus, Paul becomes a representation of the impact of rejection, forging multiple
personalities in an attempt to connect to what he believes he deserves. This is Guare s central
irony; Paul has attempted to belong by forming these personas but they ultimately cause him

Albert Bandura Summary
Albert Bandura directed a study to examine if social behaviors can be assimilated by
surveillance and imitation. Albert and his associates tested 36 girls and 36 boys, between ages
of 3 to 6, from the Stanford University Nursery School. The researchers ran a pretrial of how
aggressive the kids were at the beginning. The children were later categorized in groups of how
aggressive they were. The experiment contained a bobo doll and tools to abuse the doll while
some consisted of toys in a room. One group of kids were exposed to adults aggressively hitting
the doll with hammers, and those kids reacted the same way when placed in that room. The
second group watched a model ignore the doll and they proceeded to play with the toys. The third
group, known as the control group, was not exposed to any model at all. Researchers made notes

The girls showed more physical abuse to the male model and more verbal abuse to the female
model. The boys were prone to impersonate male models than girls. The boys were more harsh

often they beat Bobo, and in this case the assets of sexual role were inverted. The results back up
Bandura s Theory regarding social learning, meaning children acquire aggression by social behavior
in their environment s and from observation. The experiments were conducted thoroughly
because all variables except one were not controlled. All variables were categorized by gender,
age, and temper. If needed the study could be repeated at any day in time. This study has

Many men were dying, making more volunteers necessary, while the numbers of volunteers were dropping rapidly. Originally, Prime Minister Robert Borden promised that there would be no conscription during the First World War, but, due to numbers of volunteers dropping and promising Britain more troops, he created the Military Services Act that allowed conscription, which called all men ages 20 45 to war in 1917, then was passed and effective on January 1st, 1918. The Impact of a Third Party AmericaВґs Two Party Political System For hundreds of years, the two party system has dominated the American culture, but many people are confused by what a two party system actually means. Although a two party system is defined as two parties that are bigger than the rest, third parties have greatly impacted elections for over a hundred years. Minor parties still continuously voice their opinions in issues, causing other candidates of either major party to adopt their philosophies. When a party wins a local office as a minor party, the name of whatever the minor party is spreads around all the way around the United States. Not only does winning a local office help the victor, but it also helps the member of the same party who runs for President. The most recent example of a third party winning an office is the Independent Senator, Jim Jeffords of Vermont. Jeffords, who was once a Republican, became an Independent because he felt he no longer supported the policies of George W. Bushs Republican Party. With Jeffords transformation to the Independent Party, he has promoted the Independent Party over the last three years and continues to be a prominent figure in the modern Independent world. In terms of governor, Jesse Ventura was elected as the Reform Party s Governor of Minnesota where he advocated and endorsed the typical Reform beliefs. Labour markets can be developed by three basic conditions, these are, stronger market conditions, weaker market conditions and ideal market conditions. This can be seen through unemployment rates, of which is Australia is currently around 5.7 percent and gradually decreasing. • 22. Activation of Protein Kinases by Means of Stochastic... Short overview The current technology is based on protein kinase activation by means of stochastic resonance mediated through pulsed electrical fields of very low signal strength. The mode of action reveals how even small pulsed electrical fields can have a major influence on cellular function and physiological consequences. It is well known that biological sensory systems transform analog quantities such us pressure, temperature, electric fields (E fields) etc. into trains of information. All the features of systems exhibiting stochastic resonance were found to be present in cell signaling systems which are intrinsically noisy, nonlinear threshold systems. We observed the effects of pulsed electrical fields of intensity near that of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We visualize the mechanism as that of a working Brownian ratchet where transitions into a different activated state can be favored. We observed that changing frequencies of E fields causes enhanced activation from 2 to 100 Hz and that higher frequencies cause reduced activation. Thus the system fulfills the requirements of a stochastic resonance system with a ∩ shaped curve. Introduction: Stochastic resonance (SR) occurs in a system with a threshold or barrier such as in a protein when a correct input of information transfer (changes in specific electrical fields effecting charged particles and signal to noise ratio) is maximized in the presence of a specific non zero level of stochastic input noise (such as randomly fluctuating electrical fields) thereby lowering the response threshold. The system will then resonate at a particular noise level. Thus, stochastic resonance is a term which describes that one time scale is established by the period of the external stimulus and the other by the position to position switching rate induced by the stochastic process or noise. By this effect a synchronization of a nonlinear system to a weak periodic signal can be enhanced by the presence of random fluctuations. A weak periodic signal is one which cannot by itself produce switchin g between positions in protein subunits. In such systems the essence of the signal enhancing effect of SR can be understood in following way: In the absence of stimuli there are few and random ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He awakes one morning to find out that he turns into a bug. Gregor, facing an unpleasant job leaves no time for himself. The pressure of time and intense monetary ambition of the economic driven world drives Gregor to feel alienated from himself, as well as his family, because of his commitment to provide for them. Gregor s metamorphosis is when he transforms into a bug, but also represents his growing awareness of his isolation. In addition to anger and despair is of his realization and his transitions into the phase of depression. Watching his family give more consideration to others, such as the lodgers, while he is given no care at all brings about a sorrow that engulfs him. Acceptance comes for Gregor at the final point in his life; he comes to a full recognition of his isolation with a sense of peace at the moments of his last breath. I quickly catch up to my group, out of breathe only because I ve eaten too much food and not exercised in forever. Man I really should hit the gym when I get home. Stepping off the escalator I am captured by beauty. This beauty is like the dew in the morning, untouched and wonderful. I am staring at the most extraordinary statues and figures the naked eye has ever had the pleasure of seeing. No matter my vision problems, there is without a shadow of a doubt I am seeing things clearly for the first time. Before me is standing statues of warriors, death, and life. There are numerous factors that need to be considered when examining the causes of the Korean War, such as the way the Korean peninsula came to be North and South Korea, the role Korea played during the Cold War, the type of governments that were put into place after the North and South were separated, and the support that was provided to the North and South by other countries. The Jungle Books The First Jungle Book and The Second Jungle Book is a collection of short stories, several of which have the same protagonist, by Rudyard Kipling, published in 1894 and 1895 respectively. The stories that are relevant to this essay take place in the jungles of India and in a bungalow in the 19th century. The Mowglistories tell the story of a boy, found and raised in the jungle, whose primal life is full of adventures, all the while struggling with his own humanity. Meanwhile, Rikki Tikki Tavi is about a mongoose, separated from his relatives, who ends up with a British family whom he must save from the local fauna. As we have seen, the English are the ones who provide safety and protection for those who need their help, and the animals and Mowgli both represent the inhabitants of the Raj. While this is the case, imperialism is more apparent in the tale of Rikki Tikki Tavi than The Jungle Books. It is easier to compare Rikki Tikki s story with that of India s during colonial times, as the symbols are clearer and the plot seems historically telling. Additionally, Mowgli share some similarities with Kipling s childhood, both being born (...) a god among mere mortals, struggling to find a real home. • 43. The Good Soldier Analysis Within the novel The Good Soldier, by Ford Maddox Ford, narration serves as an imperative framing mechanism for propelling the plot of the story, while also generating the fragmentation necessary for maintaining the unclarity that pervades John s story. By both subtly positioning the narrator John Dowell as an outsider relative to the other characters, and consequently emphasizing the notion of being outside, Ford facilitates a pointillistic representation of the infidelities that characterize his story. Not only does Ford distance Dowell from the other characters in his narrative , but he also prompts the reader to reject John as an omnipotent, reliable source, thereby provoking the former to rely on interpretation as the primary means for finding resolution. Emphasizing several factors that distinguish John from the other characters, such as his nationality, his inclusion in and knowledge of the infidelitous relationships, his personality type, his future reflective standpoint, and his tendency to infuse his current attitudes and nostalgia into his retelling of this story, Ford employs narration as the essential mechanism for framing the story. Initially denoting both his position as an outsider, and his efforts to justify the abhorrent, adulterous, behavior of Edward Ashburnham and Florence, Dowell frames himself as an American who is merely observing British culture. While establishing himself within his story, Dowell claims that the adulterous affair is, I believe, a state of things only possible with English people of whom, till today, when I sit down to puzzle out what I know of this sad affair, I knew nothing whatever, proceeding to concede that Six months ago [he] had never been to England (13). That Ford notes this distinction on the first page of the narrative forces the reader to immediately consider John as a relative outsider in the story, a notion that is compounded by the latter s constantly identifying cultural differences between himself and the Ashburnhams. By conceding that he had not even traveled to England prior to his experience with the Ashburnhams, Dowell implicitly frames their cultural differences as responsible for Edward Ashburnham s infidelitous tendencies and Leonora s ... • 44. Analysis Of Any Hope Of Ever Seeing You Again By Eugenio... Eugenio Montale was an Italian poet who was named the Greatest Italian poet since Leopardi (Hecht). He was a hopeless romantic and that translated into his poetry and was the theme for most of it aswell, and the poem Any Hope of Ever Seeing you Again is no exception. The poem Any Hope of Ever Seeing you Again portrays two different sides to a story and can be interpreted in many ways due to its style of writing. Eugenio Montale was born in Genoa in 1896. In WWI he wa an infirmary worker and later chief literary critic for Italy with the Corriere Della Sera. He was a music critic, translator and was made a lifetime member of the Italian Senate in 1967. He also won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1975. He died six years later in Milan, 1981. In 1927 he fell in love with a married woman who he nicknamed Mosca which means fly. It is believed that this was borrowed from Ben Jonson s Volpone. Montale stayed devoted to her until her husband died in 1958. They were married until Mosca died five years later. He also met an American author named Irma Brandeis who influences some of his work, which mostly revolves around unattainable love. She made him feel better through the Fascist years, so when they became separated, he used what he was feeling and put it into poetry. Montale wrote his poetry during an era where the theme amor de lonh, love from afar, was popular, which is also tied to donna angelicata or angelic lady. Donna angelicata is mostly tied to communication attempts to an allusive lover. His poems are often really personal, including a lady figure with many names, some of which including Gertu, Liuba, Vixen, Dora and others. Some of the influencers for his poems include Plato, Shakespeare, Petrarch and The Bible. His poems almost always deal with fragmentary experience, the meaning of which is either obsucr or possibly, terrifyingly absent. In Montales Any Hope of Ever Seeing you Again , the last five lines portray strong imagery, which makes the author maybe be destitute or could be seen as the author carrying some kind of burden. In line six the poem contains descriptive words such as distorted and tenuous which Convey deep emotion (Bella). The use of these words create a depressing aura in this ...
