Revolutionary War Dbq Essay
Revolutionary War DBQ Essay The revolutionary war, a time when a still young and growing thirteen
colonies began to take a stand to their mother country, Great Britain. With a lack of communication
with the American colonies, a sense of salutary neglect , a rift began to form between mother and
child. Trust in each other was beginning to wane. This rift soon caused a series of chain reactions.
With the British enforcing laws that seriously hindered American expansion and trade. Great Britain
having losing their trust in the colonist, they did not respect any American leadership and or opinions.
Both sides were both to blame for a war that followed their poor decisions and reactions. Moreover,
with a lack of communication between Great Britain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the Quartering Act in 1774 was enacted. Barracks were to house officers and soldiers provided
by the American colonies. Though if there was not enough room to house all, it was then stated that
the American colonists were to house the soldiers and or officers. Providing them with food, beer and
wine. Also to provide the British troops with bedding, utensils, firewood and candles. Another act, the
stamp act, soon followed many others. With this act items were to contain a stamp to confirm that the
taxes had been paid. Specific examples such as bills of sale, diplomas, pamphlets, newspaper, and
marriage licenses. The colonist took action. Refusing to comply with the quartering act, while others
voted for only a fraction of the supplies that it had called for. These acts being a physical

Determination of the Calorific Value of Ethanol and Paraffin
Determination of the Calorific Value of Fuels
Aim:
To quantify the amount of energy produced by different fuels and to determine which fuel is more
efficient (has a higher calorific value).
Introduction:
The easiest way to achieve our aim is by heating a substance with a known specific heat capacity and
using the energy released from burning our fuels. This will give us the value of the heat energy
released by the combustion of our two fuels.
The chemical reaction for combustion:
FUEL + O2 Heat energy released CO2 + H2O
It is the heat energy released that we are concerned with, the amount released in this reaction will
provide us with the calorific value for each fuel.

* Testing potential new fuels Oil companies looking for new fuel sources are interested only in
efficient fuels now for three reasons 1. The more efficient the fuel the less we will use and the longer it
will last. 2. The more energy we can get from only a small amount the higher the value of the fuel. 3.
If you use less fuel less combustion occurs and so less toxins and carnbon dioxide being released into
the atmosphere.
Diet/Energy Intake * Calories in food the food industry is a huge worldwide industry and is part of
everybody s life. For all those people wanting to lose weight they are looking for a large amount with
a low calorific value, however athletes will be looking for small amounts of food with a high calorific
value. It is a vital piece of information on the dieting and exercise industries.
From the theoretical results and my experimental results I have concluded that the candle (paraffin
wax) is the more efficient fuel source because it required a smaller amount of mass to provide the
same amount of energy as the

Haggai, Zechariah, And Malachi
While there is some speculation in regards to the authorship of Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi, the
general scholarly consensus is that all three share titular authors. Haggai and Zechariah were
contemporaries; however, while Haggai s messages were only in a short period in 520 b.c., Zechariah
s ministry stretched from 520 b.c., until after 480 b.c. Malachi was likely a contemporary of
Nehemiah, and it is likely that his book was written in 433 b.c., right after Nehemiah returned from
Persia. (NIV Study Bible)
Haggai is divided into four different messages: He begins with a call to rebuild the temple, explaining
how the people s refusal to rebuild the Lord s house has brought curses upon them. He then
encourages the people in his second message, instructing the people ... Show more content on

His third message largely addresses the principles of being unclean. Haggai s final message speaks to
Zerubbabel of the eventual defeat of the Gentile kingdoms that have opposed Israel for so long. It is in
this message that he reveals that Zerubbabel is chosen of the Lord. Zechariah is also divided into four
sections. It begins with a call to repentance, then later describes eight separate visions Zechariah has
in the same night. The second section ends with an oracle about Joshua. The third message of
Zechariah rebukes the people for how they have turned away from God. It explains how the Israelites
have ignored God in their rituals and placed more importance in the rituals themselves than God. The
final area of Zechariah is about two oracles. One concerns the coming and subsequent rejection of
Christ, then the second coming and reception of

New Ideas from the Past
New Ideas from the Past Transcendentalism describes a school of thought which teaches that each
person possesses a different set of beliefs that will ultimately lead the person to find an individual
view of truth. It teaches that everyone comes into this world morally sound, and society eventually
becomes responsible for each of their downfalls, because society tries to force its own outlook about
what truth is and how to find truth onto the individual. Problems which plague an individual can be
traced back to parallel the larger problems of the evil society at large. This not only includes the
pressures seen through laws and government, but spans over all influences of the human mind, for
example, religion and philosophy. In Ralph Waldo Emerson s Historic Notes of Life and Letters in
New England, he wrote about a specific era in history that teemed with people who started to believe
these ideals three hundred years before he was writing. He asserts that that this individualistic, self
reliant way of thinking was not new, and should not be limited to influence only one area of human
life, but all aspects of society. While the official Transcendental movement took place in the 1830s,
Emerson argued that main ideas from the movement had been causing conflict for centuries. He
claimed when new ideas like these come to the surface, it can be hard to identify directly where
tension with old ideas is coming from at first, but the effects of the conflict are widespread: At

Reflection Paper On Oncology
Bryce Dunlap
Ms. Thompson
Gep 101
November 20, 2017
It all began in 2013. It was a completely normal day. I woke up and followed my daily routine: brush
my teeth, put on my clothes, and went to school. Little did I know, that would be the day that changed
everything. I found out that my uncle Danny had been diagnosed with lung cancer. The chemo
originally worked and he went into remission. After a few months of remission, the doctors said he
would have a few months to live. After he passed away, I couldn t talk to him. I couldn t see him
anymore. He was just gone. Cancer ended the life of someone very precious to me and his death
sparked the beginning of my desire to battle this disease.
When making a list of what I already knew about oncology, I found that there was very little I knew
about this topic. I knew that there were three main types of oncologists: medical, surgical, and
radiation. Those different types of oncologists treat cancer patients by using chemotherapy, biopsies,
and radiation therapy. In addition to his information, I knew that oncology was among the top ten most
competitive degrees of study in the United States. Once I came to the realization of how little I knew, I
wrote a list of what I wanted to know about this career. I wished to know what the salary and work
schedule was like. What education or training would I be required to attain? As well as what was the
work environment like for an oncologist? What job duties would I be responsible for? Even

Susan Bordo Never Just Pictures Summary
In the article Never Just Pictures, the author, Susan Bordo, addresses the cultural reasons behind the
rise in eating disorders. She asserts that modern media and advertising campaigns have played an
integral role in this increase. Though unfortunate, the media s focus is not on the well being of its
viewers, but on the level of cash flow they provide. The advertising moguls use their agencies as
double edged swords; they will make ads for McDonalds, then go in the next room and conduct a
photo shoot with a six foot two, eighty pound woman. The world of advertising needs to realize their
work is being seen by millions of people and is affecting some of those people in extremely negative
ways. The author of this article begins her analysis of the rise in eating disorders by acknowledging
America s obsession with being the ideal weight. From an extremely young age, American children
are being taught that women in movies and on the covers of magazines possess the ideal figure. The
author states Children are being taught...being fat is the worst thing one can be (Bordo 1). This is
disturbing to say the least. There many attributes worse than being overweight: dishonest, cruel, and
murderous to name a few. Bordo also uses an example in the first paragraph of her essay that is
appalling. Alicia Silverstone, the lead role in Clueless, was completely bombarded with insults about
her weight, though she had only gained a few pounds since her starring role. The advertisers did

Ancient Greek Food
Ancient Greek Food Imagine yourself in a room with one of best cooks in all of Ancient Greece, you
are watching him put in Bechamel Sauce, the Kalamata Olives, and Feta Cheese, you breathe in and
smell the dish as it comes together. Then he pours in the best red wine in all of Ancient Greece, and
lets his creation sit for forty five minutes. Now it is your turn to try the masterpiece. You feel as if
your mouth has exploded with the best flavors you have ever tried. Soteriades the Sage was one of the
most famous cooks in Ancient Greece. Legends say he served many kings and always had a new dish
for each type of person he served, including the elderly, lovers, and philosophers. This is proven in my
source Greekalicious a historical cookbook written by Maria Bernardis; Who (Soteriades the Sage)
claimed he prepared different dishes for different moods and ages. The Ancient Greeks had very
similar culinary techniques as the modern day Greeks. The Greeks valued a variety of foods and plants
and incorporated them in preparing some of their finest dishes, many that are still prepared and eaten
today.
Bread and wine were some of the most important ingredients to the Ancient Greeks. They ate bread
with almost every meal. The Ancient Greeks most common breakfast was bread dipped in red wine
with fruit. They also occasionally ate bread with lunch and dinner and often had it as a midnight
snack. To support this, the Ancient Greeks drank wine with their breakfasts.

How Did King Louis Xiv Have An Absolute Monarchy
French King Louis XIV became king at the age of four. However, it was not until after the death of
Cardinal Mazarin, that Louis was officially recognized as the King of France in 1643 until 1715. He
referred to himself as the Sun King and is well known for the building of Versailles and being the best
illustration of an absolute monarchy in the seventeenth century. However, historians think that it might
have not been an absolute democracy since France had other influencers with authority. Instead, Louis
achieved an indirect absolute monarchy by controlling the policy making regulations and the people in
his court. France was the dominant power in Europe at the time, and Louis he wanted to showcase it
through his military forces and the Palace of Versailles. He also wanted to unite the Catholics which
lead to conflict with Protestants, and invested a vast amount ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Sun King did not want Protestants to practice their religion in a largely Catholic France. He
believed in the idea of one king, one law, one faith, since he felt that any other minorities can
threatened his political supremacy. He issued the Edict of Fontainebleau and revoked the Edict of
Nantes. The Edict of Nantes was issued by Henry IV and gave some religious freedom to French
Protestants, who were also known as Huguenots. The new edict called for the wreckage of Huguenot
churches and the closure of Protestant schools. About 200,000 Huguenots left France to seek shelter in
other countries. The support for no Protestantism came from the people of France. They rejected the
rights of Protestants, banned them from government meetings, and destroyed Protestant churches.
Which eventually lead Catholicism to regain control in densely Protestant areas. All in all, King Louis
XIV was not supportive of Protestant reform in France because he wanted to keep it a Catholic

The Rise Of The 19th Century
The 19th century was a time of great innovation and rapid industrialization. The industry of iron and
steel was generating new construction materials, while railroads were being connected across the
United States. But one of the most used resources in the world now was discovered, oil as a source of
fuel. In 1901, a gigantic geyser of oil erupted from a drilling site at Spindletop Hill, Texas. The spout
reached a height of more than 150 feet and produced close to 100,000 barrels a day. This was the most
powerful gusher ever seen before by the world. Soon a thriving oil industry formed around the oil
field at Spindletop. Many of our current oil companies can trace their roots back there, such as Gulf

Even better than expansion it would aid in the development of airplanes and automobiles. By the late
20th century, oil refining, chemicals and petrochemicals continued to dominate Texas industry, though
electronics, aerospace and other high tech fields had increased in importance. (staff H. , Oil companies
get a bad reputation, but within reason. When you hear people speak of them they may be referred to
as those damn corporations . However, they are extremely important for our economy, they provide
the energy that fuels our world. But with great importance has to come great responsibility. The major
oil companies are not exactly admirable when it comes to human rights, pollution, or general
corporate responsibility. These companies violate human rights all over the world, they aren t
concerned about the environment and more so then less show a lack of corporate responsibility. Of
course the oil giants aren t the only ones dealing with resentment and controversy from the general
public. They are however they most target and recognized for it. (Bhandari, 2014) ExxonMobil is the
top contender for the worst offences, when it comes to ethical issues. They are known for blatant
disregard of corporate responsibility, the rights of humans, and environmental conservation. When it
comes to environmental affairs they are number 6 for the highest contributors of airborne pollutants.

Essay on Military Draft
Military Draft
According to the U.S. Department of Defense, the United States military now maintains a force of
around 1.4 million active duty personnel. In times of relative peace, this is sufficient to protect U.S.
interests at home and abroad. But when the United States engages in a larger scale operation, the
military may need to call up reserve forces. In a major conflict, the United States may even institute
the draft, drawing soldiers from the general civilian population.
The idea of a military draft, also called conscription, has been around in one form or another since
ancient times. In its relatively short history, the United States has implemented a number of different
conscription systems to fill its military ranks in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A few select groups of men are also excused automatically. These groups include: men who are
actively serving in the military, men who are attending a military service academy or select university
military officer procurement program, foreign citizens in the United States on valid student, visitor or
diplomatic visas, certain foreign agricultural workers, men who are confined to a hospital or
psychiatric institution, handicapped men who cannot function in public, and inmates.
All other men between 18 and 25 are legally required to register with the SSS within 30 days of
reaching eligibility. Men can register via mail, over the Internet, at the post office or with a high
school Selective Service Registrar. The SSS keeps the names and addresses of all registered men on
file so they can be called up easily if the draft is reinstated. Most U.S. citizens become eligible on their
18th birthday; others become eligible the day they are no longer exempt (the day they drop out of a
military academy, for example). Eligible aliens are required to register within 30 days of entering the
country.
The government may prosecute a potential draftee who does not register with the SSS. If convicted,
the man would face up to five years in jail and a fine of up to $250,000. Today, the government is
unlikely to take such extreme action. Instead, it encourages registration by withholding government
benefits from potential draftees in violation. This includes federal financial aid for

The Use Of Routing And Protocols Of Communications
2.3.14 DECT/ULE
DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) is a universal European standard for cordless
phones. In their latest extension DECT/ULE (Ultra Low Energy), they have specified a low power and
low cost air interface technology that can be used for IoT applications. [34]
2.4 Network Layer Routing Protocols
In this section, we discuss some standard and non standard protocols that are used for routing in IoT
applications.
2.4.1 RPL
Routing Protocol for Low Power and Lossy Networks (RPL) is distance vector protocol that builds a
Destination Oriented Directed Acyclic Graph (DODAG) that has only one route from each leaf node

2.4.8 IPv6 over G.9959
RFC 7428 defines the frame format for transmitting IPv6 packet on ITU T G.9959 networks. G.9959
defines a unique 32 bit home network identifier that is assigned by the controller and 8 bit host
identifier that is allocated for each node. [46]
2.4.9 IPv6 over Bluetooth Low Energy
Bluetooth Low Energy is also known as Bluetooth Smart and was introduced in Bluetooth V4.0 and
enhanced in V4.1. RFC 7668 [39], which specifies IPv6 over Bluetooth LE, reuses most of the
6LowPAN compression techniques.
2.4.10 Session Layer Protocols
This section reviews standards and protocols for message passing in IoT session layer proposed by
different standardization organizations.
2.4.11 MQTT
Message Queue Telemetry Transport (MQTT), introduced by IBM in 1999 and standardized by
OASIS in 2013 provide embedded connectivity between applications and middleware on one side and
networks and communications on the other side. [46]
2.4.12 SMQTT
An extension of MQTT is Secure MQTT (SMQTT) which uses encryption based on lightweight
attribute based encryption. The main advantage of using such encryption is the broadcast encryption
feature, in which one message is encrypted and delivered to multiple other nodes, which is quite
common in IoT applications. [40]

There Should Be Moderated Always Analysis
Is it really necessary to comment on someone else s page to bother and hurt the other person?
Comments should be moderated always because comments get out of control, makes the other person
upset and it starts to become something normal to people.
Comments should be moderated always because comments get out of control easily. People start
commenting on YouTube channels giving their opinion and another person comes and starts
commenting negative things. Then another person sees someone else trolling and they want to do the
same. For example, every time I go to a YouTube channel there s always someone who comments

Youtubers or people involved in social media get told things that upset them in a way that they want to
quit what they re doing instead of ignoring them. They are emotionally harmed by what others say to

of work to get a lot of people angry. It s not in the best interest of a publication or writer s care to do
that. But maybe I m naïve.(D addario 422) This shows that it s hard for people on social media to
cause such hate on trollers that they would want to waste their time by commenting negative things.
Another Example would be Trolling provokes a reaction, usually negative. Trolling is apparently quite
easy to do. But, if only to better grid one s own defenses against it what is trolling?(D addario 421)

keeps bothering them with the same thing all over again. They also start to get depressed and may start

Theodore Roosevelt View On Imperialism
Theodore Roosevelt: I believe that America has a destiny to expand. Now that we have occupied all of
the continental United States, it is time to occupy other territories and gain new states around the
world. When we own places like this, especially near Asia, we will have much more opportunities to
expand our markets and grow our economy. Also, having ports throughout the Pacific Ocean will help
us create a strong naval force, which will give our great nation global power. Imperialism is the key to
a strong, honored country.
Mark Twain: I believe that Imperialism would make our nation strong in some ways, but weak in more
important others. It may give our nation global eminence in military and trade. However, it takes the
land belonging to native people, and creates a mode of self interest from it. In the treaty of Paris,
instead of civilizing the people of the Philippines and bringing them Christianity, it oppresses them,
conquers them, and kills them. There is no moral excuse for this conduct. America will be seen as
weak because, instead of honorably setting a people up for prosperity, it shuns, weakens, and destroys
them. Imperialism is the key to a controlling, tyrant country.
Theodore Roosevelt: Nonsense. America is destined to become a global power. If there is no other
way to do this except by oppressing another nation, it must be done. We must not let anything get in
the way of our rise to global recognition.

The chain is a timeline of all transaction blocks as discussed above. This chain itself is a ledger that
records in real time all events associated with the block and makes it publicly visible. A new block can
be added to the chain only when one of the network nodes (participant) successfully solves a complex
mathematical problem that often requires high computing power, and gains the right to add the next
block. These complex, algorithm rich computations can also be called as proof of work/stake
computations, which make blockchain almost Sybil resistant, and its decentralized nature gives it a
high level of Byzantine Fault Tolerance . Complex, algorithm rich proof of work computations also
act as the consensus mechanism that ensures a high level of data integrity to the transactions on
blockchain and reduces chances of falsified entries. People who use high computational power to
solve proof of work computations and add the blocks to the chain are called miners in blockchain;
they are also the network nodes. To briefly anatomize blockchain transactions, transactions are
initially encrypted and added to an online ledger. It is further sent into the blockchain network where
network nodes take them up in a block and solve complex proof of work computations to add the next

Modern Landscape Design Is The Arrangement Of Environments...
Modernism, in the context of landscape design, is a result of forms and functions that reflect the need
for outdoor living spaces that enhance contemporary lifestyles. As Garrett Eckbo, one of the central
figures in modern landscape architecture, said, landscape design is the arrangement of environments
for people.
Contemporary garden design tends to focus on scale as opposed to formal landscape designs that are
based on axial relationships. It also foregoes the more classic landscape design forms and larger scale
from Greek, Roman, and classical architecture traditions. This design motif became popular in the
1950 s baby boom, particularly in California where weather and lifestyle was very conducive to this
innovative style.
In modern landscape design, boundaries between areas of color, textures and shapes are undefined or
conversely, sharply defined. Color and composition create the emotional response. Combining
freshness and flair, these designs use dramatic geometric shapes to create a point of view that is fluid
and natural. Water and light are often used, as in artfully lit outdoor water fountains, to enhance the
sensual loveliness and liveliness. The designs are arresting, both close up and far away.
Form and Function in Modern Landscape Design
As the maxim says, form follows function. Modern landscape design is an aesthetic that shows only
what is necessary while often leaving surfaces exposed. The simplicity of modern design reveals itself
in that every form

This random sampling error indicated that there was no cross section of the target group (generation

This is another common research problem is survey non response. Marketers can unintentionally
design surveys which many customers choose not to respond to.
Survey bias is the next potential survey research problem that can be likely to occur. In survey
sampling, bias refers to the tendency of a sample statistic to systematically over or under estimate a
population parameter. At the time of the survey, we are to assume that the chosen sample is the
representation of the Gen Y population and that information provided by the respondents is both
accurate and honest. It appears that there was a response bias due to the unconscious
misrepresentation and misplacement of the Pepsi logo at the top of the survey. This was inadvertent
but may have led to a response bias where the respondents appeared to have been influenced by an
auspices bias a bias in the responses of subjects caused by their being influenced by the organization
conducting the study (Zikmond et all, 2011).

Black Friday Research Papers
Black Friday Shopping Great discounts, lower prices, and many sales are things you think of when
you hear the words Black Friday . A lot of Americans find that these sales are worth it , but who
wouldn t want discounts on new items? In my opinion, Black Friday is not even worth the time and
effort. Most of the time when you enter the store you are risking getting into an altercation with very
greedy people that only think about themselves since most items are a lot cheaper. You also have to
stand in long lines just to check out which takes a lot of time. I also feel that you shouldn t cut down
on family time to go shopping. Like myself most people are trying to do Christmas shopping for
family members , but end up buying things for themselves. For the duration of Black Friday, ... Show

If no one went shopping on Black Friday it wouldn t mean people would miss out on holiday time
deals. Cyber Monday, which is usually the Monday following Thanksgiving, has become my preferred
way to shop and is a safer, less stressful, and less time consuming way. You won t have camp outside
of Walmart or any other store for hours, no altercations with people for the last TV. You can shop
online from at home, although some of the deals from Black Friday might be gone, many sites offer
better or different sales on Cyber Monday. During Black Friday most things are cheaper and
sometimes lower than usual. Some stores also give you incentives like gift cards if you purchase
something or spend a certain amount. That all sounds like something most people are interested in
right? But sometimes people are mistaken. The cons of Black Friday are the large crowds, tons of
people, and long lines , but if you are ok with this then Black Friday is for you. Personally I m not a
huge fan of Black Friday not matter how much you save. I would rather be at home with my

Chrono Displacement, By Audrey Niffenegger
The hardcover version of this book is over 500 pages. I read it in two sittings and it was a struggle to
ever put it down. To call this book a romance novel would not be accurate. To call it a science fiction
novel wouldn t be entirely accurate either. Author Audrey Niffenegger manages to weave these two
genres together into a unique story that is touching, funny, sweet, and sad enough for the romantic and
cynic in all of us. What could be a simple love story between two people, Henry and Clare, is
complicated by the fact that Henry has a disease that causes him to jump in and out of different
periods of time. Henry, a Chicago librarian, has Chrono Displacement disorder, a problem that has
afflicted him since childhood. He is unwillingly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a certain exhilaration I find in visiting a foreign country by myself, a certain freedom. There
are some experiences which can only be had by a solo traveler. Traveling alone can be a life altering
experience. Your perspectives are often changed, and you return looking at things in a different way.
Here is a beginner s guide to traveling alone. Certain things are more important when you are
traveling alone as opposed to traveling with someone else or in a group. Knowing a bit of the
language, for instance. The challenge of communicating can be amusing when you are traveling with
another person, even funny. But it can become frustrating and downright dangerous when you are
traveling alone. Purchase a Complete Idiot s Guide to learning the language when you begin planning
your trip alone. Study the basics and practice your speech. Make sure you master a few common
phrases before you leave on your solo vacation. Study maps of the areas you are planning to visit. You
don t want to get lost in a foreign country when you are by yourself. Carry a fold out map with you at
all times, along with a business card or brochure from the hotel you are staying at. Getting lost at night
in a foreign country could very well lead to disaster. Your foreign language skills come into play here,
too. Don t be afraid to socialize. The best places to do this are in the local pubs. Start with pubs near
your hotel and branch out as you become more familiar with your surroundings. Solo travelers tend to
make friends quite easily. People are less intimidated by single travelers than they are by couples or
groups. Of course, you should always be careful. Don t give away too much information about
yourself or where you are staying, especially at first. Avoid nightclubs your first few evenings and
stick to the pubs, where bartenders and other patrons are always within earshot. Don t become overly

in film period, there are not numbers to analyze, only facts and people. While Shonda Rhimes
identifies as a straight woman, married to a man, and has children, there are other successful producers
who identify differently. For example, Ellen DeGeneres is a very famous producer, who even has her
own show. She openly identifies as a lesbian and has been married to Portia de Rossi since 2008, after
California legalized unions between couples who identified as LGBT. Ellen is also a strong advocate

John Rolfe s Impact On America

Rolfe was known as the person who first successfully cultivated tobacco as a export crop and the first

Dorothy mason. During the time of this birth, Tobacco had grown more and more popular. John saw it

Government Intervention In Canada
Canada has always been there to help people who need it. Justin Trudeau A mixed economy means
that one part of the entire economy is being controlled and run by a certain country s government,
while the other half is left to the free market. Most economies of the countries all over the world are
mixed, and they only differ in terms of intervention by the state. This system usually begins by
authorizing private enterprises to run the majority of businesses before the government intervenes with
specific areas of economics, such as inflation protection and taxes. Today, Canada and the US have
different economic systems that are supposed to show what each country believes and what they

One reason might be with a mixed economy, it allows private participation which in return allows a
healthy competition and that results in profit. It also contributes to public ownership in manufacturing
which also contributed to welfare needs. This, however, can be viewed as too much government
involvement by not always allowing the consumer to decide what s best by making the choice for
what is needed. Yet the system is able to improve the quality of life for people who have struggles in
wealth. This is what keeps our society going. The system may be a little strenuous for some people to
pay but it is for the better of society. Another argument can be the amount of control in a mixed
system. Viewing the government as adding an excessive amount of boundaries upon certain laws or
regulations may seem restricting, but it is what stops something like a market economy or any
economy from tipping into anarchy. I see the drawbacks of this mixed system, despite that, the
positives of the mixed system outweighs such drawbacks. Additionally, these drawbacks are forever in

Safe Deposit Box Essay
In the initial stages of claiming the assets, everything was going well until I found out that the
belligerent beneficiary was the new owner of the safe deposit box (the box). As described in the article
Opening the Safe Deposit Box of an Estate, the executor must follow a process to open a safe deposit
box that is part of an estate. So, as executor, I had to carry out the following tasks after the gruesome
discovery:
Call the beneficiary to inform the beneficiary that they own the safe deposit box.
Inform the beneficiary that they must be present in order to open the box.
Instruct the beneficiary to call the bank and set an appointment to open the box.
Since the key wasn t found at the estate, ask the beneficiary about the key.
While on the phone with the belligerent beneficiary, I knew the beneficiary would take this
opportunity to try and extort more property from the estate, or, try to get more involved with the
management of the estate. As the business portion of the call ended, sure enough, the conversation

Essay on The Ontological Argument for the Existence of God
The Ontological Argument for the Existence of God
The ontological argument is an a priori argument. The arguments attempt to prove God s existence
from the meaning of the word God. The ontological argument was introduced by Anselm of
Canterbury in his book Proslogion. Anselm s classical argument was based on two principals and the
two most involved in this is St Anselm of Canterbury as previously mentioned and Rene Descartes.
The ontological argument argues that if you understand what it means to talk about God, you will see
His existence is necessarily true. Anselm defined God as that than which nothing greater can be
conceived , hence God must exist. Anselm also believed that even ... Show more content on

If He did not exist, then you could still think of an even greater being (one just like God that you said
did not exist, except this one would exist). Existence must be one of God s attributes because to
remove it, you would still be able to fathom a greater God (one which does exist). The problem most
have with this argument is that it seems to simply list existence among God s attributes, rather than
show it. The argument appears to say whatever you can imagine should be true in reality.
Descartes claimed God exists is true, if we know what it means to talk of God. Similarly, he
maintained that once we know what a triangle is we know that it must have three sides. Like a triangle
inherently must have three sides, so God inherently must exist.
Objections to the ontological argument were first brought up by a monk who was a contemporary of
Anselm named Gaunilo. He said that according to Anselm s line of reasoning, if he envisioned an
island that is beautiful and sparkling and completely perfect, then it must exist. For an island that does
exist would be more perfect than one that does not exist. Gaunilo said that we cannot simply define
things into existence. We cannot show an island or God exists simply by analyzing that idea.
A critique of Descartes comes from the philosopher David Hume who argued against the

Comparing Dido And Aeneas
Don t you just hate it when your mom makes the queen of Carthage fall in love with you? Yeah, so did
Aeneas. Just kidding. He didn t actually hate it. Aeneas just has better things to do, like discover the
great city of Rome. Aeneas decision to leave his love, Dido, is completely justified due to his great
sense of pietas and their uncertain relationship status.
As a direct offspring of Venus, one of the more powerful gods, Aeneas is a man who values the gods
powers deeply. His sense of pietas is intense throughout the epic, especially in book four, when he has
to leave Dido in order to fulfill his duty to the gods. Dido s furor, or passion, is a great contrast to
Aeneas sense of duty. When Dido and Aeneas publically come out as couple, both of their work falls

to leave Dido in such negative emotions. This is a painful decision for Aeneas; he has to try to
suppress the love in his heart (4.377). Virgil continues on and says although great love has shaken his
soul, he obeys the gods will and returns to the fleet (4.458 459). This emphasis on how Aeneas must

Agriculture Pollution Developing means of farming agriculture is the reasons humans live in the
world they do today. Modern agricultural practices have started the process of agriculture pollution.
This process causes the degradation of the eco system, land, and environment due to the day by
products of agriculture. Agriculture pollution in the United States is a serious problem which affects
the health and sustainability of our great nation.
Modern farming and agricultural operations contribute to the degradation and contamination of our
environment as well as the neighboring ecosystems. Fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, animal manure
and other Argo chemicals are rich in chemical nutrients and toxic substances which are often the major
sources of agricultural pollution. The use of these various types of products can affect water quality
when it rains, and the contaminated soils and water is washed into the waters or into ground waters.
These chemicals can also be absorbed by plants which are then consumed by animals and even
humans, harmful to animal and human health. There are many causes of this pollution.
Leaching of pesticides, herbicides and other Argo chemicals, these chemicals are the overriding causes
of agricultural pollution owing to the numbers of invasive pests, weeds, and diseases. They re highly
toxic and have the potential of remaining in the environment for ages. When it rains, these chemicals
will leak

Women as Objects in A Woman on a Roof Essay
Women as Objects in A Woman on a Roof
Doris Lessing s A Woman on a Roof allows us to understand how some men view woman: as mere
objects for display and possession. Lessing shows how each of the male characters reacts and deals
with rejection from a woman sunbathing on a nearby rooftop. We discover how three men s
preoccupation with sex keeps them unaware of how their advances may be unwanted and ignorant of
their action s possible consequences.
All three men share the desire to get this woman s attention. Working on a rooftop of a block of flats

The woman acts as if she has managed to escape the mindless need to entertain men (Allen 200). The
woman on the roof has not offered one invitation for comment or attention, yet the men feel she has.
By being caught by their eyes was invitation enough, yet the woman ignores the men no matter what

Bacteria belongs to a group of organism that lacks cell nucleus and membrane bound organells. This
group of organisms are termed as prokaryotes. Prokaryotes follows the central dogma of molecular
biology first proposed by Francis Crick in 1958 to synthesize proteins from mRNA through a process
called translation and the mRNA is being synthesized from the DNA by another process called
Transcription. Temperature, nutrient availibity are some key factors that start the process of

50S ribosomal subunits binds to the 30s ribosomal unit, giving rise to a complete 70s ribosome. Initial
factors(IF 1, IF 2, IF 3) are required for the formation of the initiation complex described above.
Once initiated, the polypeptide grows longer by covalently linking amino acids together. The ribosome
has 3 binding sites for binding tRNA, 1 the peptidyl site (P site), 2 aminoacyl site (A site) and the 3
exit site (E site). At the beginning of elongagion, the P site is filled with fMet tRNA, and the A and E
sites are empty. MRNA is bound to the ribosome in which its codon complement the anticodon of the
tRNA at the P site. TRNA with anticodon to the codon of mRNA at the empty A site is inserted. A
transpeptidation reaction occurs between the 2 amino acids carried by the tRNA, on the P and A site.
This reaction results in the transfer of the amino acid in the P site to the amino acid in the A site. The
ribosome now advances a distance of 1 codon and a new tRNA carrying the next amino acid moves
into the A site where its anti codon matches the codon of the mRNA. The ribosome again shift down
by a distance of 1 codon. As the shift occurs, the 2 amino acids on the tRNA in the P site are
transferred to the new amino acid and the 2nd tRNA is released at the E exit. This

Why Do You Learn To Learn Spanish Essay
Spanish is a wonderful language, and one of the most spoken in the world. The growing popularity is
a factor of its geographically widespread demographics, the increasing economic influence of Latin
America, the rich culture associated with its speakers and its popularity on the Internet (surpassed only
by English). It is the second world language after English and the second most studied in the world.
There are many reasons to learn the language of Cervantes. Here are a few for you to chew on. 10
Reasons Why You Should Learn Spanish 1. Second language in the world by native speakers Cliché,
of course, but it s never enough to highlight that Spanish is only behind Mandarin in absolute numbers
of native speakers. It is also the second most used language on the Internet and one of the fastest
growing in the world. Learn Spanish and you will be able to communicate (and troll) with about 550
million people throughout the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania. In the United States alone,
it is the second most spoken language with more than 52 million yodelers. Enough hispanophones to

There are numerous similarities between the Portuguese and Spanish: grammar, vocabulary, etc. This
does not mean that you can go around talking to Portuguese speakers without ever having studied their
language, especially in the spoken form where the phonetics are quite distinct. But you can cheat and
try your luck with Portuñhol , which can be intuitively grasped and enables a minimum level of
communication between the two parties. Just don t overindulge or you ll make a fool of yourself.
Portuguese is also a major language in the world, the sixth by native speakers (more than 200 million
and growing). Learn Spanish and you instantly win the ability to communicate with more than 10% of
the world s population. Not everyone can brag of such

Dangerous Liaisons By Claudia Moscovici
Nakia was in a relationship with a psychopath. A person with a psychopathic personality lacks the
ability to love or establish meaningful relationships. A psychopath is a predator who pretends to love
you in order to lure you into his deadly game of power, control, and manipulation. The man who
Nakia thought was her knight in shining armor turned out to be a nightmare. Throughout their
relationship, he emotionally abused her, held a gun to her head, criticized her weight, made false
accusations, cheated, called her names, and physically assaulted her during pregnancy. A psychopath
seeks to destroy your self worth and self esteem through cruel and methodical mind manipulation. In
her book, Dangerous Liaisons: How to Recognize and Escape from Psychopathic Seduction, Claudia
Moscovici writes about psychopaths and how they seduce women. She reveals the process of
psychopathic seduction: Idealize, Devalue, and Discard. Let s examine Nakia s abusive relationship
using the Idealize, Devalue, and Discard phases, so we can observe how a psychopath operates. 1.
Idealization Phase During the Idealization Phase the predator lures you in with the promise of love He
s a charmer, seducing you with sweet whispers so you can t see him for who he really is: a cold
blooded slithering snake waiting to sink his fangs into your self esteem and feed off your soul Nakia
says during the honeymoon phase of their relationship, her abuser was charming, chivalrous, and
romantic. He showered her

Achieving Sustainable Development Goals At A Un Summit
The United Nations General Assembly has officially adopted the Sustainable Development Goals at a
UN summit in New York City as of September 27, 2015 that are to be globally implemented by 2030.
This essay will discuss goal 13 take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts , along
with its five targets.
Are the Targets Truly Measurable?
The most concretely measureable target under SDG 13 is 13.a. A deadline for this target is clearly
stated along with the funds and specific parties needed to create a global impact. One will be able to
identify progress, or lack of, by 2020. Target 13.b is unspecified and extremely vague, not indicating
effective strategies for its measurability. LDC s often contribute least to climate change yet are
expected to suffer the greatest, there is no specific source in this target to aid these countries in raising
their planning capacities. Target 13.1 is vague making it difficult to assess if a country perhaps has not
achieved this target, it only focuses on extreme events when developing resilience and adaptive
capacity to gradual shifts in climate change is crucial (ICSU, 2015). The target would need further
specification and a timeframe. Target 13.2 can be measured as one can identify if and when climate
change protocols are implemented into a nations policies and whether or not they are put into effect,
however focus on only the national level is too narrow as mitigation policies can be used on different
scales such as

Atlit Yam Essay
Atlit Yam in Israel
Atlit Yam is a typical Neolithic site submerged in the Mediterranean Sea, near the coast of Haifa,
Israel (Holloway, 2014). This ancient village, aging 9,000 years old, started to be excavated in 1990s
(Marchant, 2009). There have been numerous remains discovered by archaeologists, including a large
amount of houses and walls, a water well surrounded by stone baluster, a large number of human
remains and plenty of artefacts made by stone, wood and bone (Holloway, 2014). One of the most
exciting discoveries is some skeletons of women and children, which have been confirmed to be the
earliest known cases of tuberculosis (Marchant, 2009). This settlement provides an excellent chance to
study life in the Neolithic Age.
Reasons of the subsidence of Atlit Yam are complicated. Basically, the erosion of saltwater, the
tectonic effects and eustatic effects may all make contribution to the submergence of the village. With
the erosion of saltwater, the well in Atlit Yam was contaminated badly so that the village was
abandoned by its people, not long before it was covered by sand and water (Marchant, 2009). Other
opinions suggests a burst of volcano as a form of tectonic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The recent underwater discoveries led by archaeologists from the University of Cambridge and the
University of Nottingham show that some of the part of the submerged city can be dated from at least
2,800 B.C., far more earlier than the assumption of 1,600 B.C. to 1,100 B.C., which even contains a
larger number of material valuable to be studied (Marchant, 2009). Unlike some submerged
settlements which are lack of planning and contracture, Pavlopetri has already impressed
archaeologists with its complete city plan and advanced infrastructure (Papathanasion, 2015). The
systematic excavation to Pavlopetri started since 1960s and more studies are still needed to be

• How Does The Sympathetic Nervous System Prepare Your...
Your Body s Response to Emergency
How does the body prepare for emergencies? The answer lies in the Sympathetic Nervous System
(SNS). It is the branch of the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) that controls the body s reaction to
physical and emotional stressors. The sympathetic branch activates the glands and organs that defend
the body against attack. It is called the fight or flight response.
This is a primitive response designed to protect from danger. When danger is perceived, the
sympathetic nervous system responds immediately to prepare a person to stay and fight or take flight.
Blood rushes away from nonessential systems such as the digestive and excretory systems and is
redirected to the extremities. The heart beats faster to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The glucose obtained from the liver cells produces a surge in energy better known as an adrenaline
rush . The hormones also bind to receptor cells on smooth muscle and inhibit the muscles of the
stomach and intestines, slowing down the digestive process and allowing more energy for emergency
functions. When these hormones bind to the smooth muscle cells of the bronchioles, they cause the
muscles to relax allowing more oxygen into the blood. At the sinoatrial node of the heart, epinephrine
stimulates the pace maker cells to beat faster. Epinephrine also contracts certain types of muscles
below the skin, causing beads of sweat and raised hairs. Once fight or flight has taken place, another
branch of the ANS, the Parasympathetic Nervous System (PNS) can take over again, calming
everything down and returning body processes to normal.
The fight or flight response is useful in the short term because it assists the body in responding quickly
and effectively in emergencies. However in the long term, the sympathetic response can become
harmful. This is because the functions of sympathetic activation can put additional stress on the
nervous system. If the sympathetic system remains highly active, the parasympathetic response will
not activate and return the body to homeostasis. This means the body does not get the chance to
recover from stress causing a number of physical and psychological disorders.
In conclusion, the brain is a complex organ with the ability to cause

Pesticide Essay
Worldwide it is estimated that approximately 1.8 billion people engage in agriculture and most use
pesticides to protect the food and commercial products that they produce. Others use pesticides
occupationally for public health programs, and in commercial applications, while many others use
pesticides for lawn and garden applications and in and around the home (1,2). Pesticides are defined
as chemical substances used to prevent, destroy, repel or mitigate any pest ranging from insects (i.e.,
insecticides), rodents (i.e., rodenticides) and weeds (herbicides) to microorganisms (i.e., algicides,
fungicides or bactericides) (1,3).
Over 1 billion pounds of pesticides are used in the United State (US) each year and approximately 5.6
billion pounds are used worldwide (1). In many developing countries programs to control exposures
are limited or non existent. As a consequence; it has been estimated that as many as 25 million
agricultural workers worldwide experience unintentional pesticide poisonings each year (4). In a large
prospective study of pesticide users in the United States, the Agricultural Health Study, it was
estimated that 16% of the cohort had at least one pesticide poisoning or an unusually high pesticide
exposure episode in their lifetime (5).
Although attempts to reduce pesticide use through organic agricultural practices and the use of other
technologies to control pests continue, exposure to pesticides occupationally, through home and
garden use, through

Analysis Of Des Cannibales By Montaigne
This extract from Montaigne s Des Cannibales is found near the beginning of the essay. It is pivotal in
setting the precedent for the rest of the essay since it establishes how Montaigne came to his
viewpoints on the Tupinambá since they are different to those held by many of his contemporaries.
When Montaigne wrote, people were only beginning to learn about other areas of the world. People on
the whole had not travelled and so held ethnocentric views regarding culture. They failed to
understand the people of the New World, thus labeled them as sauvage and barbare something which
Montaigne challenges in this essay, and specifically sets out in this extract.
In the first part of this extract, Montaigne considers how one can obtain the most reliable information
on the New World. He wants to avoid creating stereotypes and prejudices, thus aspires to get the most
accurate information. Lines 1 2 of this passage demonstrate Montaigne s use of employing syntax to
highlight his ideas. By describing his servant as simple et grossier in the first clause of the sentence,
Montaigne s readers instinctive response to this description may be to assume that, due to his lack of
education or status, his view may not be of much value. The references to great philosophers such as
Plato and Aristotle throughout the essay could certainly be considered to make the opinions of a plain
and ignorant man seem irrelevant. However, true to his style throughout Des Cannibales , Montaigne

Malcolm Baldrige Award
Introduction
The Malcolm Baldrige Award was created by congress in 1987 and signed by President Reagan to
recognize U.S organizations in healthcare, education, business, and nonprofit organizations for
performance excellence. During this time companies were striving to be the best, trying to top one
another in price, business, and quantity. Congress saw this increase and they wanted to set a standard
for the companies and award the ones that go above and beyond for their customers not only in quality
but also in customer service. The reason for this was many American companies did not know about
quality, nor implemented quality into their products. The award was named after Malcolm Baldrige
who was the 26th Secretary of Commerce. He was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Revolutionary War Dbq Essay Revolutionary War DBQ Essay The revolutionary war, a time when a still young and growing thirteen colonies began to take a stand to their mother country, Great Britain. With a lack of communication with the American colonies, a sense of salutary neglect , a rift began to form between mother and child. Trust in each other was beginning to wane. This rift soon caused a series of chain reactions. With the British enforcing laws that seriously hindered American expansion and trade. Great Britain having losing their trust in the colonist, they did not respect any American leadership and or opinions. Also to provide the British troops with bedding, utensils, firewood and candles. Another act, the stamp act, soon followed many others. With this act items were to contain a stamp to confirm that the taxes had been paid. Specific examples such as bills of sale, diplomas, pamphlets, newspaper, and marriage licenses. Determination of the Calorific Value of Ethanol and Paraffin Determination of the Calorific Value of Fuels Aim: To quantify the amount of energy produced by different fuels and to determine which fuel is more efficient (has a higher calorific value). Introduction: The easiest way to achieve our aim is by heating a substance with a known specific heat capacity and using the energy released from burning our fuels. This will give us the value of the heat energy released by the combustion of our two fuels. The chemical reaction for combustion: FUEL + O2 Heat energy released CO2 + H2O It is the heat energy released that we are concerned with, the amount released in this reaction will provide us with the calorific value for each fuel. If you use less fuel less combustion occurs and so less toxins and carnbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere. Diet/Energy Intake * Calories in food the food industry is a huge worldwide industry and is part of everybody s life. For all those people wanting to lose weight they are looking for a large amount with a low calorific value, however athletes will be looking for small amounts of food with a high calorific value. Haggai, Zechariah, And Malachi While there is some speculation in regards to the authorship of Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi, the general scholarly consensus is that all three share titular authors. Haggai and Zechariah were contemporaries; however, while Haggai s messages were only in a short period in 520 b.c., Zechariah s ministry stretched from 520 b.c., until after 480 b.c. Malachi was likely a contemporary of Nehemiah, and it is likely that his book was written in 433 b.c., right after Nehemiah returned from Persia. It begins with a call to repentance, then later describes eight separate visions Zechariah has in the same night. The second section ends with an oracle about Joshua. The third message of Zechariah rebukes the people for how they have turned away from God. It explains how the Israelites have ignored God in their rituals and placed more importance in the rituals themselves than God. The final area of Zechariah is about two oracles. • 6. New Ideas from the Past New Ideas from the Past Transcendentalism describes a school of thought which teaches that each person possesses a different set of beliefs that will ultimately lead the person to find an individual view of truth. It teaches that everyone comes into this world morally sound, and society eventually becomes responsible for each of their downfalls, because society tries to force its own outlook about what truth is and how to find truth onto the individual. Problems which plague an individual can be traced back to parallel the larger problems of the evil society at large. This not only includes the pressures seen through laws and government, but spans over all influences of the human mind, for example, religion and philosophy. In Ralph Waldo Emerson s Historic Notes of Life and Letters in New England, he wrote about a specific era in history that teemed with people who started to believe these ideals three hundred years before he was writing. He asserts that that this individualistic, self reliant way of thinking was not new, and should not be limited to influence only one area of human life, but all aspects of society. While the official Transcendental movement took place in the 1830s, Emerson argued that main ideas from the movement had been causing conflict for centuries. He claimed when new ideas like these come to the surface, it can be hard to identify directly where tension with old ideas is coming from at first, but the effects of the conflict are widespread: At ... • 7. Reflection Paper On Oncology Bryce Dunlap Ms. Thompson Gep 101 November 20, 2017 It all began in 2013. It was a completely normal day. I woke up and followed my daily routine: brush my teeth, put on my clothes, and went to school. Little did I know, that would be the day that changed everything. I found out that my uncle Danny had been diagnosed with lung cancer. The chemo originally worked and he went into remission. After a few months of remission, the doctors said he would have a few months to live. After he passed away, I couldn t talk to him. I couldn t see him anymore. He was just gone. Cancer ended the life of someone very precious to me and his death sparked the beginning of my desire to battle this disease. When making a list of what I already knew about oncology, I found that there was very little I knew about this topic. I knew that there were three main types of oncologists: medical, surgical, and radiation. Those different types of oncologists treat cancer patients by using chemotherapy, biopsies, and radiation therapy. In addition to his information, I knew that oncology was among the top ten most competitive degrees of study in the United States. Once I came to the realization of how little I knew, I wrote a list of what I wanted to know about this career. I wished to know what the salary and work schedule was like. What education or training would I be required to attain? As well as what was the work environment like for an oncologist? What job duties would I be responsible for? Even ... • 8. Susan Bordo Never Just Pictures Summary In the article Never Just Pictures, the author, Susan Bordo, addresses the cultural reasons behind the rise in eating disorders. She asserts that modern media and advertising campaigns have played an integral role in this increase. Though unfortunate, the media s focus is not on the well being of its viewers, but on the level of cash flow they provide. The advertising moguls use their agencies as double edged swords; they will make ads for McDonalds, then go in the next room and conduct a photo shoot with a six foot two, eighty pound woman. The world of advertising needs to realize their work is being seen by millions of people and is affecting some of those people in extremely negative ways. The author of this article begins her analysis of the rise in eating disorders by acknowledging America s obsession with being the ideal weight. From an extremely young age, American children are being taught that women in movies and on the covers of magazines possess the ideal figure. The author states Children are being taught...being fat is the worst thing one can be (Bordo 1). This is disturbing to say the least. There many attributes worse than being overweight: dishonest, cruel, and murderous to name a few. Bordo also uses an example in the first paragraph of her essay that is appalling. Alicia Silverstone, the lead role in Clueless, was completely bombarded with insults about her weight, though she had only gained a few pounds since her starring role. The advertisers did ... However, it was not until after the death of Cardinal Mazarin, that Louis was officially recognized as the King of France in 1643 until 1715. He referred to himself as the Sun King and is well known for the building of Versailles and being the best illustration of an absolute monarchy in the seventeenth century. Instead, Louis achieved an indirect absolute monarchy by controlling the policy making regulations and the people in his court. The new edict called for the wreckage of Huguenot churches and the closure of Protestant schools. About 200,000 Huguenots left France to seek shelter in other countries. The support for no Protestantism came from the people of France. They rejected the rights of Protestants, banned them from government meetings, and destroyed Protestant churches. • 18. Theodore Roosevelt View On Imperialism Theodore Roosevelt: I believe that America has a destiny to expand. Now that we have occupied all of the continental United States, it is time to occupy other territories and gain new states around the world. When we own places like this, especially near Asia, we will have much more opportunities to expand our markets and grow our economy. Also, having ports throughout the Pacific Ocean will help us create a strong naval force, which will give our great nation global power. Imperialism is the key to a strong, honored country. Mark Twain: I believe that Imperialism would make our nation strong in some ways, but weak in more important others. It may give our nation global eminence in military and trade. However, it takes the land belonging to native people, and creates a mode of self interest from it. In the treaty of Paris, instead of civilizing the people of the Philippines and bringing them Christianity, it oppresses them, conquers them, and kills them. There is no moral excuse for this conduct. America will be seen as weak because, instead of honorably setting a people up for prosperity, it shuns, weakens, and destroys them. Imperialism is the key to a controlling, tyrant country. Theodore Roosevelt: Nonsense. America is destined to become a global power. If there is no other way to do this except by oppressing another nation, it must be done. We must not let anything get in the way of our rise to global recognition. These complex, algorithm rich computations can also be called as proof of work/stake computations, which make blockchain almost Sybil resistant, and its decentralized nature gives it a high level of Byzantine Fault Tolerance . Complex, algorithm rich proof of work computations also act as the consensus mechanism that ensures a high level of data integrity to the transactions on blockchain and reduces chances of falsified entries. People who use high computational power to solve proof of work computations and add the blocks to the chain are called miners in blockchain; they are also the network nodes. • 21. Modern Landscape Design Is The Arrangement Of Environments... Modernism, in the context of landscape design, is a result of forms and functions that reflect the need for outdoor living spaces that enhance contemporary lifestyles. As Garrett Eckbo, one of the central figures in modern landscape architecture, said, landscape design is the arrangement of environments for people. Contemporary garden design tends to focus on scale as opposed to formal landscape designs that are based on axial relationships. It also foregoes the more classic landscape design forms and larger scale from Greek, Roman, and classical architecture traditions. This design motif became popular in the 1950 s baby boom, particularly in California where weather and lifestyle was very conducive to this innovative style. In modern landscape design, boundaries between areas of color, textures and shapes are undefined or conversely, sharply defined. Color and composition create the emotional response. Combining freshness and flair, these designs use dramatic geometric shapes to create a point of view that is fluid and natural. Water and light are often used, as in artfully lit outdoor water fountains, to enhance the sensual loveliness and liveliness. The designs are arresting, both close up and far away. Form and Function in Modern Landscape Design As the maxim says, form follows function. Modern landscape design is an aesthetic that shows only what is necessary while often leaving surfaces exposed. The simplicity of modern design reveals itself in that every form ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The arguments attempt to prove God s existence from the meaning of the word God. The ontological argument was introduced by Anselm of Canterbury in his book Proslogion. Anselm s classical argument was based on two principals and the two most involved in this is St Anselm of Canterbury as previously mentioned and Rene Descartes. The ontological argument argues that if you understand what it means to talk about God, you will see His existence is necessarily true. If He did not exist, then you could still think of an even greater being (one just like God that you said did not exist, except this one would exist). Existence must be one of God s attributes because to remove it, you would still be able to fathom a greater God (one which does exist). The problem most have with this argument is that it seems to simply list existence among God s attributes, rather than show it. The argument appears to say whatever you can imagine should be true in reality. Descartes claimed God exists is true, if we know what it means to talk of God. Similarly, he maintained that once we know what a triangle is we know that it must have three sides. Like a triangle inherently must have three sides, so God inherently must exist. Objections to the ontological argument were first brought up by a monk who was a contemporary of Anselm named Gaunilo. He said that according to Anselm s line of reasoning, if he envisioned an island that is beautiful and sparkling and completely perfect, then it must exist. For an island that does exist would be more perfect than one that does not exist. Gaunilo said that we cannot simply define things into existence. We cannot show an island or God exists simply by analyzing that idea. A critique of Descartes comes from the philosopher David Hume who argued against the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tom believes he is this woman s hero. Throughout the story he sees himself protecting her from Stanley s domination (Lessing 858). He feels he is not her harasser and that she must be aware of his love for her. His dreams of her have convinced him that meeting this woman is in his destiny. He doesn t interpret her indifference as rejection as Stanley does and has no idea how he will suffer for it later. Far gone into his fantasy, Tom imagines the nearby crane aiding his heroic rescue of her. Stanley shows a hatred for this woman s remote coolness (Lessing 858). An attitude not yet displayed by Tom and long since forgotten by Harry, his anger reveals how he has dealt with the indifference of women before. Protected for the moment, by this lofty location, Stanley ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Intro(10mins) Bacteria belongs to a group of organism that lacks cell nucleus and membrane bound organells. This group of organisms are termed as prokaryotes. Prokaryotes follows the central dogma of molecular biology first proposed by Francis Crick in 1958 to synthesize proteins from mRNA through a process called translation and the mRNA is being synthesized from the DNA by another process called Transcription. Temperature, nutrient availibity are some key factors that start the process of synthesizing proteins in response to these key factors. Example. This paper will provide an explanation as to how bacteria decode the genetic information to produce proteins. ... Initial factors(IF 1, IF 2, IF 3) are required for the formation of the initiation complex described above. Once initiated, the polypeptide grows longer by covalently linking amino acids together. The ribosome has 3 binding sites for binding tRNA, 1 the peptidyl site (P site), 2 aminoacyl site (A site) and the 3 exit site (E site). At the beginning of elongagion, the P site is filled with fMet tRNA, and the A and E sites are empty. MRNA is bound to the ribosome in which its codon complement the anticodon of the tRNA at the P site. TRNA with anticodon to the codon of mRNA at the empty A site is inserted. A transpeptidation reaction occurs between the 2 amino acids carried by the tRNA, on the P and A site. This reaction results in the transfer of the amino acid in the P site to the amino acid in the A site. The ribosome now advances a distance of 1 codon and a new tRNA carrying the next amino acid moves into the A site where its anti codon matches the codon of the mRNA. The ribosome again shift down by a distance of 1 codon. As the shift occurs, the 2 amino acids on the tRNA in the P site are transferred to the new amino acid and the 2nd tRNA is released at the E exit. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Dangerous Liaisons By Claudia Moscovici Nakia was in a relationship with a psychopath. A person with a psychopathic personality lacks the ability to love or establish meaningful relationships. A psychopath is a predator who pretends to love you in order to lure you into his deadly game of power, control, and manipulation. The man who Nakia thought was her knight in shining armor turned out to be a nightmare. Throughout their relationship, he emotionally abused her, held a gun to her head, criticized her weight, made false accusations, cheated, called her names, and physically assaulted her during pregnancy. A psychopath seeks to destroy your self worth and self esteem through cruel and methodical mind manipulation. In her book, Dangerous Liaisons: How to Recognize and Escape from Psychopathic Seduction, Claudia Moscovici writes about psychopaths and how they seduce women. She reveals the process of psychopathic seduction: Idealize, Devalue, and Discard. Let s examine Nakia s abusive relationship using the Idealize, Devalue, and Discard phases, so we can observe how a psychopath operates. 1. Idealization Phase During the Idealization Phase the predator lures you in with the promise of love He s a charmer, seducing you with sweet whispers so you can t see him for who he really is: a cold blooded slithering snake waiting to sink his fangs into your self esteem and feed off your soul Nakia says during the honeymoon phase of their relationship, her abuser was charming, chivalrous, and romantic. • 44. Achieving Sustainable Development Goals At A Un Summit The United Nations General Assembly has officially adopted the Sustainable Development Goals at a UN summit in New York City as of September 27, 2015 that are to be globally implemented by 2030. This essay will discuss goal 13 take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts , along with its five targets. Are the Targets Truly Measurable? The most concretely measureable target under SDG 13 is 13.a. A deadline for this target is clearly stated along with the funds and specific parties needed to create a global impact. One will be able to identify progress, or lack of, by 2020. Target 13.b is unspecified and extremely vague, not indicating effective strategies for its measurability. LDC s often contribute least to climate change yet are expected to suffer the greatest, there is no specific source in this target to aid these countries in raising their planning capacities. Target 13.1 is vague making it difficult to assess if a country perhaps has not achieved this target, it only focuses on extreme events when developing resilience and adaptive capacity to gradual shifts in climate change is crucial (ICSU, 2015). The target would need further specification and a timeframe. Target 13.2 can be measured as one can identify if and when climate change protocols are implemented into a nations policies and whether or not they are put into effect, however focus on only the national level is too narrow as mitigation policies can be used on different scales such as ... • 45. Atlit Yam Essay Atlit Yam in Israel Atlit Yam is a typical Neolithic site submerged in the Mediterranean Sea, near the coast of Haifa, Israel (Holloway, 2014). This ancient village, aging 9,000 years old, started to be excavated in 1990s (Marchant, 2009). There have been numerous remains discovered by archaeologists, including a large amount of houses and walls, a water well surrounded by stone baluster, a large number of human remains and plenty of artefacts made by stone, wood and bone (Holloway, 2014). One of the most exciting discoveries is some skeletons of women and children, which have been confirmed to be the earliest known cases of tuberculosis (Marchant, 2009). This settlement provides an excellent chance to study life in the Neolithic Age. Reasons of the subsidence of Atlit Yam are complicated. Basically, the erosion of saltwater, the tectonic effects and eustatic effects may all make contribution to the submergence of the village. With the erosion of saltwater, the well in Atlit Yam was contaminated badly so that the village was abandoned by its people, not long before it was covered by sand and water (Marchant, 2009). • 46. • How Does The Sympathetic Nervous System Prepare Your... Your Body s Response to Emergency How does the body prepare for emergencies? The answer lies in the Sympathetic Nervous System (SNS). It is the branch of the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) that controls the body s reaction to physical and emotional stressors. The sympathetic branch activates the glands and organs that defend the body against attack. It is called the fight or flight response. This is a primitive response designed to protect from danger. When danger is perceived, the sympathetic nervous system responds immediately to prepare a person to stay and fight or take flight. Blood rushes away from nonessential systems such as the digestive and excretory systems and is redirected to the extremities. The heart beats faster to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The glucose obtained from the liver cells produces a surge in energy better known as an adrenaline rush . The hormones also bind to receptor cells on smooth muscle and inhibit the muscles of the stomach and intestines, slowing down the digestive process and allowing more energy for emergency functions. When these hormones bind to the smooth muscle cells of the bronchioles, they cause the muscles to relax allowing more oxygen into the blood. At the sinoatrial node of the heart, epinephrine stimulates the pace maker cells to beat faster. Epinephrine also contracts certain types of muscles below the skin, causing beads of sweat and raised hairs. Once fight or flight has taken place, another branch of the ANS, the Parasympathetic Nervous System (PNS) can take over again, calming everything down and returning body processes to normal. The fight or flight response is useful in the short term because it assists the body in responding quickly and effectively in emergencies. However in the long term, the sympathetic response can become harmful. This is because the functions of sympathetic activation can put additional stress on the nervous system. If the sympathetic system remains highly active, the parasympathetic response will not activate and return the body to homeostasis. This means the body does not get the chance to recover from stress causing a number of physical and psychological disorders. In conclusion, the brain is a complex organ with the ability to cause ... • 47. Pesticide Essay Worldwide it is estimated that approximately 1.8 billion people engage in agriculture and most use pesticides to protect the food and commercial products that they produce. Others use pesticides occupationally for public health programs, and in commercial applications, while many others use pesticides for lawn and garden applications and in and around the home (1,2). Pesticides are defined as chemical substances used to prevent, destroy, repel or mitigate any pest ranging from insects (i.e., insecticides), rodents (i.e., rodenticides) and weeds (herbicides) to microorganisms (i.e., algicides, fungicides or bactericides) (1,3). Over 1 billion pounds of pesticides are used in the United State (US) each year and approximately 5.6 billion pounds are used worldwide (1). In many developing countries programs to control exposures are limited or non existent. As a consequence; it has been estimated that as many as 25 million agricultural workers worldwide experience unintentional pesticide poisonings each year (4). In a large prospective study of pesticide users in the United States, the Agricultural Health Study, it was estimated that 16% of the cohort had at least one pesticide poisoning or an unusually high pesticide exposure episode in their lifetime (5). Although attempts to reduce pesticide use through organic agricultural practices and the use of other technologies to control pests continue, exposure to pesticides occupationally, through home and garden use, through ... • 48. Analysis Of Des Cannibales By Montaigne This extract from Montaigne s Des Cannibales is found near the beginning of the essay. It is pivotal in setting the precedent for the rest of the essay since it establishes how Montaigne came to his viewpoints on the Tupinambá since they are different to those held by many of his contemporaries. When Montaigne wrote, people were only beginning to learn about other areas of the world. People on the whole had not travelled and so held ethnocentric views regarding culture. They failed to understand the people of the New World, thus labeled them as sauvage and barbare something which Montaigne challenges in this essay, and specifically sets out in this extract. In the first part of this extract, Montaigne considers how one can obtain the most reliable information on the New World. He wants to avoid creating stereotypes and prejudices, thus aspires to get the most accurate information. Lines 1 2 of this passage demonstrate Montaigne s use of employing syntax to highlight his ideas. By describing his servant as simple et grossier in the first clause of the sentence, Montaigne s readers instinctive response to this description may be to assume that, due to his lack of education or status, his view may not be of much value. The references to great philosophers such as Plato and Aristotle throughout the essay could certainly be considered to make the opinions of a plain and ignorant man seem irrelevant. However, true to his style throughout Des Cannibales , Montaigne ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
