Use Of Renewable Resources For Alternative Fuels
Current transportation is heavily dependent on fossil fuels such as oil, gas, and coal. Petroleum
based fuels such as gasoline and diesel fuel, the most commonly used fossil fuels, are causing
increasing global concern because petroleum is a finite resource. This means that as the amount of
available petroleum decreases over time, the need for alternative fuels will increase. This is an
important matter because it affects global energy security, food security, the environment, and
economies. With governments around the world attempting to cope with increasing greenhouse gas
emissions, the world is turning to cleaner, more efficient energy use and the use of renewable
resources to address air pollution, global warming, and climate change.... Show more content on

With the global population continuously increasing, the use of farmland and grains for the world s
food supply will be competing with the use of the same land for biofuel production, which may lead
to an increase in food prices around the world.
Global bioethanol and biodiesel production has significantly increased over the last 14 years. It
is possible that biofuels produced from crops using conventional agricultural methods will
increase the stresses on water supplies, water quality, and land use, compared to petroleum
fuels. There would be agricultural competition between food crops and energy crops for
resources such as land and water. Agricultural expansion due to increased prices of foods would
place further stress on water supplies due to increased irrigation. Population growth, climate
change, and natural disasters also place additional stress on water supplies, but these factors are
already at play and natural disasters may be unpredictable (Koh and Ghazoul, 2008). Increasing
biofuel production will affect the biogeophysical capabilities of soil due to changes in land use
and may affect the nitrogen cycle due to increased use of nitrogen fertilizer (Delucchi, 2010).
Recent research into using wood and grass for cellulosic ethanol production may be fruitful as
most of these crops can be grown on agriculturally degraded land

Paper About Turkeys
I believe the short film was made for a fun informative. The videographer took advantage of an
unusual topic and made the story interesting. The main point of the story was to show an average
neighborhood s day interrupted by random turkeys, leaving the neighborhood in astonishment.
The videographer demonstrates the story from the resident s point of view but mostly the
woman s point of view. I think that was the case because of how the woman was so delighted
about the entire situation. The story engages the audience by bringing curiosity of how the
turkeys got there in the first place and what are the turkeys going to do afterwards.
Correspondingly, the videographer captures a long shot of the turkeys walking out of the shot
towards the pole. This video for starters, does a good job of establishing the setting of the
neighborhood with a sequence of a few basics shots. In the beginning the viewers notices the long
shot of the plane and the houses, a close up of the branch, and a cut away of the American flag. The
videographer also uses natural sound, catching the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The videographer does a great job of focusing the camera on objects that make the neighborhood
seem average. For example, the plane flying by, the kid on the skateboard, and the ADT sign.
Showing the turkeys and the residents in a shot is essential for the audience to get an
understanding that this event is random and unexpected. Voice overs are important to the story by
showing whoever is speaking at the time, what they are doing. It basically creates a better
understanding. I personally thought it was cool how the videographer got a high shot for the
ending of the video of the turkeys walking away. Also, that shot specifically, was longer than
normal in my opinion, for a theatrical affect. The fact that the turkeys were roaming a
neighborhood randomly was a perfect idea for any viewer s

The Eucharist Of The Catholic Church
The Eucharist according to Catechism of the Catholic Church
The Eucharist is one of the Seven Sacraments of the Catholic faith. For some it is the most
important sacrament of the faith. What is the Catechism of the Catholic Church? What does it say
about the Eucharist? This is what will be discussed during this paper.
To start off the answering the first question, the Catechism is a according to the website
uscatholic.org it is a compendium of all Catholic doctrine regarding both faith and morals. There
have been many Catechisms throughout the history of the Catholic religion. Regarding this paper
we will be discussing the Eucharist in the most recent Catechism that was promulgated by Pope
John Paul II in 1992 to coincide with the second Vatican Council.
The Catechism specifically Part two article three discusses the The Sacrament of the Eucharist it is
broken down into seven parts. First we must define what a sacrament is. A Sacrament is a religious
rite or observance. The Sacrament of the Eucharist completes the Christian initiation according to
the Catechism, it is the source of summit of the Christian life. Basically the Eucharist is the sum
and summary of faith, Our way of thinking is attuned to the Eucharist, and the Eucharist in turn
confirms our way of thinking.

of thanksgiving to God. There are different names they call this, The Lords Supper, The

Etiology Of Asthma
1.3 Etiology and risk factors: There are different heterogeneous phenotypes for asthma that vary in
presentation, pathophysiology and etiology. The risk factors for each recognized phenotype of
asthma include genetic, host, environmental factors and family history.[23] Factors that can
contribute to asthmaor airway hyperreactivity may include any of the following:
1 Environmental allergens: (e.g., house dust mites, animal allergens, especially cat and dog,
cockroach allergens and fungi).
2 Gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD): The presence of acid in the distal esophagus, mediated
via vagal or other neural reflexes, can significantly increase airway resistance and airway reactivity.

9 Emotional factors and stress.
10 Occupational factors : Associated with 10 15% of adult asthma cases. More than 300 specific
occupational agents have been associated with asthma. Farming, painting, janitorial work, and
plastics manufacturing are considered to be high risk jobs .
11 Exercise induced asthma (EIA), or exercise induced bronchoconstriction (EIB), is an asthma
variant defined as a condition in which exercise or vigorous physical activity triggers acute
bronchoconstriction in persons with heightened airway reactivity. It is observed primarily in
persons who have asthma (exercise induced bronchoconstriction in asthmatic persons). Exercise
induced bronchoconstriction is often a neglected diagnosis, and the underlying asthma may be
silent in as many as 50% of patients, except during exercise. [36, ]
Factors that contribute to exercise induced bronchoconstriction symptoms include the following:
Exposure to cold or dry air
Environmental pollutants (eg, sulfur,

Influenza Viruses Are Responsible For An Average Of The...
Abstract
Influenza virus infection remains one of the largest disease burdens on humankind. Influenza
associated bacterial co infections contribute to severe disease and mortality, during pandemic and
seasonal influenza episodes. The mechanisms of severe morbidity following influenza bacterial co
infections mainly include failure of an antibacterial immune response and synergy of the pathogens.
Moreover, the failure to resume function and tolerance is one of the main reasons for excessive
mortality. In this review, some new advances of the mechanisms of severe disease associated with
bacterial co infections following influenza virus infection are discussedreviewed. Analysis of these
mechanisms should help to develop novel approaches for the prevention and treatment of severe
influenza virus co infections.
Keywords: co infection; influenza; bacteria; resume function; tolerance; mortality. Background
Despite modern medical and public health standards, influenza remains one of the main
principal lethal infectious diseases worldwide [1]. Influenza viruses are responsible for an
average of 400,000 deaths per year globally [2, 3]. During previous influenza pandemics (H1N1,
1918; H2N2, 1957; H3N2, 1968; and H1N1, 2009) and seasonal epidemics, many cases of
influenza virus related deaths actually occurred due to bacterial co infections [4 11]. Since the
1950s, researchers have increasingly focused on concomitant infections with influenza viruses and a
range of bacterial agents.

Integrity In Cyrano De Bergerac
Integrity is the quality of being honorable; or having morals. In other words, having a code of
ethics. In Edmond Rostand s Cyrano de Bergerac, Cyrano is supposed to be the tragic hero; the
protagonist. This really fits his situation in the story because he truly tries to do the right thing
and honor his friend but makes one decision he will regret for the rest of his life. In the book,
Cyrano falls in love with Roxane, who falls in love with Christian. This love triangle will alter all
of them in ways they don t expect. At the end of the story, he dies without having a true
relationship with Roxane; yet, he claims that he still dies with his integrity. I believe that Cyrano
did not die with integrity, because he lied to Christian and Roxane even on his deathbed. While
Christian and Cyrano were fighting for their lives in battle, Cyrano continued to send letters to
Roxane, because he promised to make sure Christian would. By now, it is obvious to the readers
that Cyrano is in love with Roxane, but not to Christian. He is very oblivious to the whole situation
but eventually figures it all out. It should... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At first it was just little lies, that he told others to protect his appearance. His biggest lie was
letting Roxane believe Christian was the one writing her letters, when it was Cyrano the whole
time. Even though he didn t directly tell a lie, by letting it happen and letting Roxane fall in love
with the wrong person, was very untruthful and inconsiderate. Never once, did he even seriously
consider that she might love him for his personality and that certain facial features had nothing to
do with it. He let her believe this for 15 years, until the truth finally came out. By then, it was too
late because he was dying. Cyrano let Roxane believe the man she loved was dead, but as a matter
of fact, the beautiful soul she fell in love with was

Traffic Problems In Atlanta
Introduction
180 years ago, the city of Atlanta originated as the zero milepost for the Western and Atlantic
Railroad. People soon settled around the zero milepost and donned it the settlement Terminus. In
later years in was named Therville and then Marthasville before being officially named Atlanta on
December 29th, 1847. The city continued to grow and thrive until it was destroyed in 1865 in the
civil war by General Sherman during his famous March to the Sea (Wikipedia, 2016). After its
destruction, the city was slowly rebuilt over the following years to eventually become the massive
hub that it is today. Atlanta hosts the headquarters of a plethora of Fortune 500 companies

Nucleotide Groupings
Inside each phone of every living thing (plant or creature) are sets of directions called qualities.
The qualities give the guidelines on what is the plant or creature, what it would appear that, how it
is to survive, and how it will associate with its encompassing surroundings. The qualities are hung
together in long stands of material called deoxyribonucleic corrosive (DNA) and these long strands
are called chromosomes. Most living things have sets of chromosomes (one from every guardian),
however they might have an alternate number of chromosomes from another living thing. For
instance, people have 23 sets of chromosomes and the organic product fly has 4 sets.
Every quality is comprised of long blends of four distinctive nucleotide bases. It is the different
mixes of the nucleotide bases that decide everything around a living animal.
The four nucleotides are called:
adenine(A),
cytosine (C),
guanine (G), and
thymine (T).

An Effective Retail Design That Maximize Success For Juice...
This problem case details the steps to determine an effective retail design that would maximize
success for Juice Guys in the east coast market. After reaching triumph in the west coast market,
Juice Guys is looking to expand firstly into the Boston neighbourhoods. Boston consumers had a
strong likeness for NantucketNectars but the market was different: metropolitan city (year round)
versus summer only in Nantucket Island.
To accomplish this feat, the company must decide how to target and position the stores given the
differential differences in demographic and environmental traits. Furthermore, Juice Guys needs to
determine who are their customers, their inclinations for the product and their preferences to a
smoothie store. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This poses a substantial financial loss as each store provides a total of $1300 with margins as high
as 50%. Alternatively, Juice Guys has only been successful in the west coast; therefore the
company will not risk future losses. However, as there is a growing market for healthy lifestyles,
this presents a considerable growth option for the company.
2.Expand into east coast and design like west coast
Juice Guys currently has a strong reputation in the west coast, which can be carried forward to
their operations in the east. They have a deep reputation with consumers for their products, which
leads to increased potential of brand resonance. However, as the west coast consumers differ from
the east, there is the possibility of Juice Guys products not being accepted as welcomingly.
3.Expand into east coast and design for east coast needs
Juice Guys can capitalize on the brand equity of the brand yet design retail concepts in Boston
according to local needs. This option will allow the company to replicate the success they achieved
in Nantucket Island (modifying operations to open during summer to meet local consumer needs).
Additionally, this will allow the Boston market to understand this new product offering. However,
as retail concepts differ across the country, there may be the lack of consistency across the brand,
which will confuse consumers in Juice Guys brand message.
Critical Issues
1.Difference in market

Research Paper On Circumcision
When having a child many questions arise such as where will we take baby while we work, how
are we going to accommodate another person in the household, and the ultimate will we
circumcise? For some families in the world it is not even a familiar question discussed, but
unfortunately in the US it is a very prevalent practice. It saddens and almost scares me that we
have become so desensitized to the thought of male circumcision of newborns. In reality it is a
very horrendous unnecessary procedure that is far too over looked. Majority of the world do
not participate in the circumcision of male newborns and deem it unnecessary. I believe this
barbaric practice should be stopped. Hopefully in the next few decades circumcision will
ultimately no longer be the decision of parents in the US, unless deemed medically necessary.
Cutting off a vital piece of skin on a vulnerable, sensitive, healthy organ should be the decision of
the person in question not the parent, not your body not your choice. The origins of circumcision
date back farther than the bible. One theory that stuck out to me was one that originated in Africa
as a way to purify people, as sex was considered to make one impure. Therefore, how would you
keep people from having sex? I would assume maybe to desensitize the sex organs would be the
best option, hence circumcision. The well cited source, CIRP, states that, Human sexuality was
seen as dirty or impure in some societies; hence cutting off the

There are two kinds of skepticism, local skepticism, which states that some areas of inquiry don t
allow for knowledge, and global skepticism, which states that we cannot know anything about the
world, (Bogosian). One of the most common arguments for skepticism is the Brain in a Vat
argument, which is very similar to the argumentof the Evil Demon who controls us. In opposition
to this is a philosopher by the name of Hilary Putnam, who uses language as proof for us not being
brains in vats. I am going to explain to you why I think that Putnam is correct.
If you cannot be sure that you are not a brain in a vat, then you cannot rule out the possibility of all
of your beliefs about the external world being false. (Bruekner, 2004) I ... Show more content on

In his idea, someone who has never seen a tree, would not automatically call a tree by that name
when they saw it, however while we go through life we call things by their names. (Brueckner,
2004)He states that if he were a brain in a vat, and he called something a tree it would be no more
accurate than someone who had never seen a table using the word to describe a duck. He uses the
simple argument of:
a.If I am a BIV, then my word tree does not refer to trees.
b.My word tree refers to trees. So,
c.I am not a BIV (Brueckner, 2004)
However, it is also stated that you cannot know that the image and knowledge of trees were not
programmed into the brains in vats, so they could know that the word tree means the image of a
tree. So unfortunately this, like most other Cartesian skepticism arguments, for me at least, is a
hard sell. If I had to decide on one of the two arguments to be the strongest, I would choose the
argument against the idea of brains in vats. This is mostly because I believe that there are too
many emotions and individual decisions that play out in each person s life for us to all actually be
brains that are controlled by a computer or by one person. Every single day we are making
hundreds of decisions and the responses to the same question, when presented to a variety of
people vary significantly, and some of those decisions can change spur of

Financial Reporting And The International Accounting...
Introduction Purpose
Complexity in financial reporting is apparent especially when applying it to relevant accounting
theories. Complexity is the state of being difficult to understand and apply (SEC 2008, cited in
Petersen, 2012). When we apply complexity to accounting we think of it in terms of applying it to
accounting transactions which flow onto financial statements and how these were developed from
the Accounting Standards. (Peterson, 2012, p.73). The purpose of this report is to address the
complexity of financial reporting and how the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB)
intends to do address this problem through its Disclosure Initiative .
The International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is the international accounting standards
developed by the ISAB. The ISAB have set up the Disclosure Initiative to examine where IFRS
could be improved.
We will examine the complexity of financial reporting and how it applies to Positive Accounting
Theory (PAT). We will also discuss how measurement of financial reporting effects the complexity
of financial statements in terms of fair value and historical cost methods. We will use supporting
evidence from peer reviewed journal articles to support our argument. We will then present our
findings and recommendations to the Corporate Governance Council Chairman of Australian
Securities Exchange (ASX).

The Field Of Strategic Human Capital
In order for an organization to be most effect they have to look internally at their organizational
behavior and assess what is most important to them and creates a culture surrounded by the value
and beliefs of the leadership employees and customers. In order to better do that one must look at
the importance of its employees and how they feel about the company directly affects the
productivity and performance therefore becoming human capital. In addition to including the
employees into decision making regarding events that affect them and the company. Furthermore,
the structure of the cultureset by management dictates directly the success of implementing the
values the company and its employees hold. At time organizations find they fall of the path of
direction in which they want to set the culture so changes have to be made throughout the
organization in order to improve and restructure to meet the new values of the company.
Robert E. Ployhart says it best when stated in (PLOYHART, R. E. 2015) the field of strategic
human capital and the field of organizational behavior need each other, they just don t know it. To
better emphasis in order to optimize the competitive advantage for organizations that comes from
human capital organizations have to enhance their employees attitudes towards the company and
create a culture that best fits the organizational goals. A company s human capital asset is the

Fair Tax Reform
The push for a tax reform continues to be a popular topic. Many people see the current structure
as inequitable and complex. The new proposed tax structure that has been gaining attention is
called the Fair Tax Act. It would institute a national sales tax at a rate of 23% if it were enacted.
The idea is to make the taxstructure more simplistic and spread out the tax burden. Another
interesting proposed change relates to tax brackets. These brackets would no longer be needed to
decide rates on taxable income. Investments will also be much different and potentially have a
greater economic impact because the tax on capital gains and property will no longer be in
existence. These are just a few of the changes that could occur with... Show more content on

People would be getting taxed on what they spend since it is a sales tax, similar to what is seen
now. It would be much higher, but people would also be receiving a much higher paycheck. This
would help to prevent double taxation that periodically occurs. Spending habits will become
important to watch and see if people will want to spend less to prevent paying taxes. However,
less spending may have a questionable impact on the economy and for businesses. This could also
affect the amount of funding government programs would receive in the new form of taxation
proposed in the Fair Tax Act rather than having federal taxes withheld, such as FICA taxes.
Investments will also be treated differently. The current tax structure has a tax on the gain of long
term assets at a preferential rate. This reduces the actual gain made on investments. However, the
Fair Tax Act would no longer have a tax on capital gains. There would be fewer restrictions and
have the ability move them more freely. This would be a much different structure than the current
structure and provide more of an economic impact.
The Fair Tax Act would bring about many changes to the tax system. It would be a large change to
the tax process and provide different attributes for the economy. Some of these key changes would
bring about new behaviors and affect how society functions as a

How Did Stalin Gain Power
Conversely, Stain s tendency to grasp opportunities and advance in situations was pivotal in
explaining his rise to power by 1929. Historian S, Phillips argues that Stalin was undoubtedly
skillful in using the circumstances that presented themselves in 1924 and opportunities that arose
thereafter to overcome his opponents in the party . This view supports the idea that Stalin used his
political shrewdness and skills to outwit his colleagues for the battle for power and positioned
himself in situations that he could benefit from and gain advantages which is an alternative factor
to the Party machine argument as the main reason for Stalin s dominance of power. It is correct to

Essentially, this shows Stalin used his political skills to manipulate the situation to his advantage
suggesting that he was particularly cunning and wise. An example of this that supports the view
of S. Phillips was displayed at Lenin s funeral, where Stalin was able to strengthen his own
position by establishing his character as Lenin s most faithful disciple . Stalin s use of the funeral
to align himself to the Lenin legacy shows an example of his potential opportunism within the
party, as claimed by Tucker who stated that Stalin was not the only rival for power using Lenin s
legacy to further his career the others were as well, but Stalin was better at it . This view supports
the argument of Phillips, suggesting that Stalin s personal attributes and use of opportunism

A Comparison Of Frank Lloyd Wright And Frank OGehry
Two architects who works needs to be recognized too are Frank Lloyd Wright and Frank O Gehry.
Both great architects with creative designs that seem to incorporate with their surroundings. Who
contributed so much to our modern designs and buildings that we still visit today. Both architects
who came up with new ideas and designs instead of the traditional like houses and buildings but
added new concept to what we see today. Frank Lloyd Wrightwas born in the year 1867, in
Richland Center, Wisconsin. Both an architect and writer, he is considered a genius of the
American architecture (Kaufmann 1). Wright went to the University of Wisconsin at Madison for
a few terms where he took engineering courses (Kaufmann 3). He finally left Madison after a few
years and found work with J.L. Silsbee, in architectural detailing. After a few years he opened his
own architectural practice. One of his styles that became the residential design of the 20th century
in the United Stateswas the Prairie Style. The Prairie architecture was known for its revolutionary
approach to the building of modern homes. Wright built about 50 prairie houses in ten years. Two
of his major works that stand out is the Guggenheim Museum located in New York and the Marin
County government Centre located near San Francisco. The Guggenheim Museum is a form of

Banker To The Poor Summary
In Banker to the Poor, Muhammad Yunus discusses the power of micro lending in the struggle to
end world poverty. He created a bank called Grameen, which is dedicated to lifting families from
poverty and providing them with the means necessary to become contributing members of society.
Grameen Bank began as a simple project to help poor members of a small village in Bangladesh.
Eventually though, it expanded to across more than one hundred countries in five continents. It has
helped millions of the world s poorest people overcome their struggle with poverty. Micro loans are
essentially the same as traditional loans, just on a much smaller scale. Families living in extreme
poverty usually don t have good enough credit to obtain a traditional... Show more content on

He realizes that many of them borrow miniscule amounts of money, and earn even smaller profits.
To resolve this issue, he first distributes about $27 to about 40 villagers. Then, he gets a loan for
$300 and acts as a guarantor (someone who guarantees a loan will be repaid) so the villagers can
borrow that money.
Chapter 5: A pilot Project is Born In this chapter, Yunus discusses, in detail, the Grameen Bankand
how it operates. Females have very little power or independence. Many people in Bangladesh
thought only men should handle money. Therefore, Grameen had difficulty loaning to women. He
also talks about the complications of a daily repayment system. For over twenty years, borrowers
have paid back their loans in weekly installments.
Chapter 6: Expanding Beyond Jobra into Tangail
In this chapter, Muhammad explains how the Grameen Bank started. At first, it was just an
experiment that Professor Yunus conducted with his students. Eventually, though, Yunus
temporarily left the University of Chittagong to oversee the Grameen Bank Project, which
succeeded, despite all of the hardships it

Has one ever wondered how a criminal can enjoy his profit without being exposed? If a criminal
wants to enjoy his money successfully, he knows he has to hide the true proceeding of his wealth.
Since there are criminals doing misdeeds for a financial motive, there has been ways to disguise

that affirms the term was first used and recognized internationally in the 1970 s, after the Watergate

In order to successfully launder money three processes are needed: placement, layering, and
integration. In the first state, placement, the illegal proceeding are disengaged from direct
association with the crime or criminal. In the second stage, layering, the money is used in some
legal financial transaction in order to camouflage the cash. In the third stage, integration, the

Research Paper On Cholelera
This day in age, contracting cholera is not something people worry about in the United States. The
United States was able to escape this worry because of effective public health measures and other
resources. However, in third world countries such as Haiti, a cholera outbreak is a frequent worry.
Cholera is caused by the bacterium Vibrio cholerae, found in contaminated waters. Symptoms of
cholerainclude diarrhea, dehydration, increased heart rate, muscle cramps, low blood pressure, and
dry mouth, throat, nose and eyelids (WebMD 2014). In industrialized countries, the implementation
of water treatment facilities and sewage has eradicated cholera. Cholera is easily treated, by simply

Cholera, transmitted by contaminated food and water. When the disease arrived in New York
City in summer 1832, after traveling over trade routes from India through Russia and Europe
across the Atlantic to Canada and down the Hudson River Valley, thousand of citizens died
within weeks. Cholera struck again in 1849 and 1866 before New Yorkers learned how to
contain the disease. Measuring the reaction of New Yorkers to these increasingly traumatic
public health disasters shows how understandings of disease were filtered through contemporary
ideas about class and social relations, conceptions of immigrants, and thinking about the
responsibilities of the city s government in issues of public health in mid nineteenth century New
York. The first documented case of cholera was on June 24, 1832 in NYC (McNamara 2015). In
the 1830s immigrants began to flood New York City, they often lived in poor conditions with
compacted living areas. Along with immigrants, there was a small free black community in
Manhattan ( History of Cholera in NYC 2012). So the city was packed with different people
from all over, many were living in poverty and horses and pigs ran freely in the streets. The
environment became crowded and dirty, the perfect breeding ground for disease. Without a
proper sewage system, human waste found its way into the City s water supply. As the
population of the City grew denser, several outbreaks of cholera occurred. Nearly 100,00 people
fled to the countryside, when cholera hit the NYC (McNamara 2015). Many wealthy New Yorkers
and those more well off, fled the city during cholera outbreaks in search of more hospitable
environment. Those who owned buildings throughout the city refused to lease their spaces for
hospitals, in fear of contamination. Most doctors worked to reduce the suffering of cholera victims.
During that time, medical knowledge was limited and so were

An Evaluation of the Reliability of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator
The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is an evaluative personality tool that is widely used
throughout the world today. It is important for a tool that is popularly utilized in a variety of
fields and at numerous professional institutions worldwide to be a credible one. So, is the MBTI
really the valid reliable personality inventory instrument it claims to be? Evaluating this tool will
show that empirically sound evidence does not exist to support the MBTI as an accurate, reliable,
or valid instrument for profiling one s personality type.
The MBTI questionnaire was created by Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs
Myers. Their collaborative work to develop this measurement of personality was inspired by to the
writings/work of Carl Jung (more specifically his book entitled Psychological Type). This mother
and daughter s shared fascination and interest in type theory led them to create the MBTI in the
early 1940s as a test to be used for personnel selection. Myers believed that different occupations
favored different personality orientations, and that Jung s theory provided a theoretical link
between personality and job performance (Pittenger, 1993). It is important to note that it was Myers

Similarities And Differences Between The Aeneid And The...
In many ways, Virgil s Aeneid mirrors Homer s Odyssey. Through context, characters, and themes,
these two famous ancient epic poems are similar; however, in morality and treatment towards the
gods, they differ drastically. By comparing the two protagonists most popular epithets, one can
immediately see how unalike they truly are. Odysseusis often referred to as The Stormer of Cities
or the Sacker of Cities whereas Aeneas is almost always referred to as the Pious or Good Aeneas
(depending on the translation). These two epithets create a divergence in theme culture between the
two epics, for they directly reflect the morals of the cities that these epics are written for and about:
Rome and Athens. How a community presents their hero is how they present their ethos. The
original of the two, the Odysseywas written (supposedly) by Homer around the end of the eighth
century before common era. As one of the oldest works of Western Literature, the Odyssey set the
stage for the later epics to come. Evidently, one of those works would be Virgil s Aeneid
commissioned by Augustus himself. On the other hand, it is rumored that Augustus asked Virgil to
write an epic in order to raise the moral and integrity of the Roman Republic and bring Rome back
to its original values.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Triangle Fire Industrial Revolution
In the early 1900s, America s mostly rural society was transformed into a urban manufacturing
nation. This dramatic metamorphosis caused a deeper chasm between the poor and the rich, but
helped form a thriving middle class. American cities overflowed with millions of European
immigrants willing to provide cheap labor that was the catalyst for a thriving economy. New York
Citybecame the largest industrial powerhouse in the United States because of the garment industry.
Due to the availability of affordable factory made items, American culture became preoccupied with
the acquisition of goods, and the concept of consumerism was born. Sadly, the poverty stricken
population who lived in slums and worked in intolerable conditions suffered tremendously. The
book, The Triangle Fire by Jo Ann E. Argersinger tells the true story behind the spark of change of
the exploitation of factory workers within America. With the advent of the Industrial Revolution,
and the key historical events that followed, there were many cultural and political changes in the
United States.
In the era of the Industrial Revolution, many key historical events created a butterfly effect of
change. As a result of the abysmal living and working conditions of the immigrants, pivotal actions
by women reformers and women workers improved the lives of girls working in New York s
garment industry. Due to the invention of the shirtwaist, New York was home to nearly five
hundred factories. Many young Jewish and

In 19th century in Europe there is rapid increase in suicide. The case of death can be positive
action such as jumping from an upper window or negative action such as hunger strike. Durkheim
eliminates psychotic paranoid suicide because it is non sociological explanation of suicide and it is
not the result of self concise aim. The factor correlation between mental disorder and self
destruction varies considerably.
Scotland had comparatively high level of lunacy but there is low level self destruction. While
Saxony showed a low level of lunacy but a high rate of self destruction. Alcohol addiction and
substance abuse are eliminated by Durkheim (Law, 2011, p.200). Undoubtedly, race itself is
abolished as an irrational concept. In the month of summer and at temperature degrees of latitude
(50 55 degrees), there are more suicide cases because when communion is most competency
public, especially in urban areas. One of the causes of non social associated to suicide that
Durkheim examines is imitation. Durkheim differing the suicide rates among protestant and
catholic, he argues that stronger social control among catholic result in lower suicide rates.
According to Durkheim, catholic society has normal levels of integration while protestant society
has low levels. He says that suicide rates are higher in men than in women. Suicides rates are
higher among those who are not in relationship than those who are married. Because of the being
single, the women do not have children so there is more suicide case in

PESTLE Analysis on Tesco
Therefore, by discussing the environmental factors of PESTLE , in my personal opinion, I strongly
believe that the Political , the Economic and the Legal environments have the most impact on
Tesco as it operates internationally, in the United Kingdom and within 12 markets across Asia and
Europe. For this very reason it very important to consider all possible, political, economic and legal
structures, impacts and outcomes which might affect the overall success of the company as they
play a major role in relation to one another.
When looking at the political factors for Tesco, and, as it operates in a globalized environment with
locations across the world, the company s performance is extremely influenced by the political
and legislative functions of each country. In terms of legislations under employment, the
government really encourages retailers to provide work place opportunities from, flexible, lower
paid, local based jobs to highly skilled, paid, and centrally located jobs (Balchin, 1994) to meet
certain demands relating to students, senior citizens and working parents. The company
understands that while being in the retail industry, it has a large impact on individuals and the
work place (the development of new stores may often be seen as a conflict to other retail sectors
due to the fact that the traditional stores go out of business or are forced to cut certain cost in
order to being able to compete) as being a fundamentally local and labour intensive sector.

Taking a Look at Vatican II
Ecumenical councils are a practice that age back to the reign of Roman Emperor Constantine. An
ecumenical council is a conference of Christian bishops in order to resolve current issues affecting
the entire church . The councils would publish texts and legislation that would become crucial to
the development and operation of Christianity. The Second Vatican Council
, or Vatican II, was the
most recent ecumenical council. Vatican II is considered to be one of the major events of the
twentieth century and impacted not only the church but also the modern world.
Vatican II came to be through PopeJohn XXIII. Pope John expressed his intentions of calling an
ecumenical council just three months after his election. This came as a shock to many because
Pope John was almost eighty years old at the time and was known by many to be an
uncontroversial man. His reasoning behind calling the council was pastoral in nature. This meant
that Pope John wanted the council to focus on the lives of believers and their experience of living
the faith in the world as it is today . Pope John wanted Vatican II to be a dialogue with those
outside the church in order for the church to become more positive and relaxed in modern times.
Vatican II made five notable contributions to the reform of the church. Those contributions were the
reform of the liturgy, the self understanding of the church as the people of God , relations with
other Christian churches and with non Christian religions, the churches

Gothic Architecture In Europe s Influence On English...
1INTRODUCTION
Originating in France, which had an even greater impact on English architecture than in previous
centuries, the Gothic style is an era of European architecture and art, starting 1140 and lasting until
the mid 16th century. It is the epoch between Romanesque and Renaissance and heavily makes use
of imagery as well as allegory.
In architecture, the Early, High and Late Gothic periods are distinguished. Depending on
surroundings and time, these periods have developed differently.
Vast cathedrals and churches but also a few domestic buildings provide the strongest representation
of Gothic architectural style (Wikipedia contributors, 2017a).
1.1ORIGIN OF THE TERM GOTHIC
The term Gothic originally was a swearword (meaning: barbaric, unfamiliar) which the Italian art
theorist Giorgio Vasari wanted to express his disregard of Gothic art in relation to antiquity. Gothic
architecture was called opus francigenum which means French Style (Wikipedia contributors,
2017a).
1.2DEVELOPMENT OF THE GOTHIC ARCHITECTURAL STYLE
Gothic represented a break with the past which is expressed by getting rid of massive wall
constructions, an emphasis on views and diagonal lines. This style of architecture with its new
elements made buildings seem like or inspired by a skeleton which is a first and has not been
practiced in ancient as well as medieval architecture (Watkin, 2015a).
Gothic architecture draws on basics of Romanesque s technologically developed art of construction

Literary Analysis Of The Dogs Could Teach Me By Gary Paulsen
Out of the three stories, The Dogs Could Teach Me, The Sniper, and The Flowers, The Dogs
Could Teach Me by Gary Paulsen best demonstrates description. This proves to be true through
Paulsen s consistency of descriptions throughout the entire story, unlike The Sniper. The Dogs
Could Teach Me begins with, There was a point where an old logging trail went through a small,
sharp sided gully a tiny canyon . . . It might have been a game trail that was slightly widened or
an old foot trail that had not caved in. Likewise, Liam O Flaherty starts out The Sniper by
writing, Dublin lay enveloped in darkness but for the dim light of the moon that shone through
fleecy clouds, casting a pale light as of approaching dawn over the streets . . . However, by the
third paragraph of The Sniper O Flaherty scrivens, He was eating a sandwich hungrily. He had
eaten nothing since morning. He had been too excited to eat, while Paulsen continues the same
pattern of writing saying, Later I saw the beauty of it, the falling lobes of blue ice that had
grown as the water froze and refroze, layering on itself. Even though the very beginning of The
Sniper collates with the beginning of The Dogs Could Teach Me, in the sense that both writers
start out with very strong descriptions, Paulsen s portrayals become more powerful because of
how consistent they are. Between Paulsen and O Flaherty s pieces of writing above, the reader
gains a clearer picture of the ambience surrounding Paulsen in The Dogs Could Teach Me than
of O Flaherty s character eating a sandwich due to the shift of focus O Flaherty decides to take.
Paulsen s main goal out of the two examples above was very evidently to describe these
situations, howbeit, O Flaherty s was not. Since the author of The Sniper decides to turn to action
based writing instead of creating vivid pictures in the third paragraph, it causes The Dogs Could
Teach Me to become a better example of descriptionthan The Sniper.
Paulsen also chooses to incorporate a variety of figurative language into the short story The Dogs
Could Teach Me, whereas the author of The Flowers does not, taking Paulsen s descriptions to the
next level . For instance, a simile that appears in

Potato Core Osmosis Lab Report
In the Potato Core Osmosis Lab, the main purpose of the experiment was to test the different
amounts of corn syrup on potatoes. A variety of potatoes were distributed and placed into unknown
amounts of corn syrup which range from no corn syrup to 100% corn syrup. Then the following
day, the results were recorded on the size of the potato. Results stated that as the amount of syrup
increased, the smaller the potato got. The hypothesis stated that if the potatoes were placed in a
high percent of syrup, then it would shrink, which corresponds to the results causing the hypothesis
to be supported.
Soon results were shared and connections were made. Even though all the results weren t
identical, the numbers still shared similarities as it was only a few decimals off. Most of the initial
and final masses were the same; however, the change in mass varied. These results may relate to a
miscalculation or mistake in using the formula. Although, when the numbers were graphed, all the
points increased and kept the same order. Other researchers had similar problems but overall had
the same idea. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, corn syrup is hypertonic which means that water is leaving the cell causing it so
shrink. Therefore, if the potato is placed in this type of solution then it will lose its water. Along
with that, there s hypotonic, which means that water is going into the object causing it to grow.
This term corresponds to the potato that was tested to zero percent corn syrup, which is another
way of saying that one of the potatoes was tested in water. As a result, the potato grew and it gives
an explanation on why the potato in Substance A grew. These results were extremely significant
because it gives an explanation on how different substance can affect the size of

Annalea Milligan, Bassoon Recital
As a University of Northern Iowa College student taking Soundscapes, I attended a recital by
Annalea Milligan on Wednesday Oct. 19th, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. in Davis Hall, a small auditorium, at
the Gallagher Bluedorn. Annalea Milligan received her Bachelor of Music degree in performance
at Pacific Conservatory of Music, and is currently a first year graduate student pursuing a Master
of Music degree in bassoon performance at University of Northern Iowa. For the first half of the
program she played the bassoon in Rhapsody composed by Willson Osborne and then she was
accompanied by Mariya Akhadjanova on piano playing Variations on Theme of Pergolesi
composed by Otmar Nussio which included I. Arietta, II. Scherzetto, III. Tamburino, IV.
Lamento, V. Ostinato, VI. Rapsodia, VII. Elegia, VIII. Barbaresca, IX. Stornello, and X. Danza.
Then after a brief intermission Milligan played the bassoon and was accompanied by Serena
Hou with the harpsichord playing Concerto in G Minor, RV 495 composed by Antonio Vivaldi
which included Presto, Largo, and Allegro, not to mention she also played Bachianas Brasileiras
No. 6 composed by Heitor Villa Lobos and was accompanied by Azeem Ward with the flute which
included I. Aria (Choro), and II. Fantasia. I will depict the first and second part of the recital and
describe my reaction and total opinion about the overall concert.
In the beginning of Annalea Millgan s Recital she opened with a neoclassical composition

Jessica Monologue
One day after school, Jessica and her friends went on their Pegasus to Cloud City.
Cloud City was a flying magical city that was entirely made out of clouds and floated around the
world without a fixed place.
Jessica had never visited Cloud City, so she was very excited to go to it and see if the stories were
as wonderful as she d heard. She couldn t wait to feel what it was like to walk on soft clouds, to
see colorful buildings made out of ice crystals and fluffy clouds that changed colors with the sun s
rays, or to see all the amazing magical creatures that lived in the magical city. But to make their
visit even more special, they were trying to make it to Cloud City by sunset, to see the magical

Suddenly, a burst of magical light flashed all around them and the clouds took on different shades

blue! Tiny sparks fluttered around them, making Jessica and Isalia giggle with joy.
The tiny rain drops from the earlier storm and the glass crystals reflected the light, creating a
kaleidoscope of swirling colors.
As the last rays of the sun faded, music started to play and the creatures started to dance. The
clouds took on a silvery color as the moon rose higher in the sky and the rain drops glittered lass if
stars were inside the clouds.

How to reinvent capitalism and unleash a wave of innovation and growth by Michael Porter and
Mark Kramer
Shared Valueis a new form of capitalism. The idea of shared value was initially explored by the
authors in December 2006 HBR. Shared value is not social responsibility, philanthropy, or even
sustainability, but a new way to achieve economic success. In the article Porter amp; Kramer
criticize neoclassical thinking on the trade off between societal needs and economic success, and
the way the concept of externalities have shaped corporate and policy strategy. Article says that

GE reinforced its R amp;D to meet this decision of enhancing the products to provide better
health to the world around. The business goals of GE are to create 100 new products by 2015,
enter new markets and realize revenues. The social goals are to decrease cost by 15 percent,
increase access by 15 percent and also increase quality by 15 percent.
There are three main ways companies can create shared value opportunities, all of them are
mutually reinforcing
Re Thinking Products and Markets * Societal needs are the greatest unmet needs in society * When
businesses build products around society, then both business and society benefit.
Redefining Productivity in the Value Chain * Productivity and societal progress heavily linked so
called externalities usually become internal costs to the firm. * Growing consensus that major
improvements in environmental performance can often be achieved with better technology at
nominal incremental cost and can even yield net cost savings through enhanced resource utilization,
process efficiency, and quality. * Costs must be looked at in a long term perspective, and no longer
short term
Enabling Local Cluster Development * Success of every company is affected by the supporting
companies and infrastructure around it. Productivity

Power System fault is defined as undesirable condition that occurs in the power system. These
undesirable conditions such as short circuit, current leakage, ground short, over current and
overvoltage and over temperature.
With the increasing loads, voltages and short circuit duty in distribution system, over current
protection has become more important today. The ability of protection system is demanded not
only for economic reason but also consumers just expect reliable service. In a Power System
Protection, the system engineer would need a device that can monitor current, voltage, frequency,
temperature and in some case over power in the system. Thus a device called Protective Relay is
created to serve the purpose. The protective relay is most often relay coupled with Circuit Breaker
such that it can isolate the abnormal condition in the system. In the interest of reliable

Why I Was The Only Person Who Was Ready
My thirteen year old mind could not handle waiting idly in an uncomfortable, wooden chair. By
that time, my powdered makeup had turned into beads of liquid. Can we please leave, I yelled
we re going to be late! In response to no response, I stood up from my chair and marched into my
cousin s room. I was startled as I walked in on one of the most frantic scenes I had ever
witnessed. There were clothes sprawled on the floor, makeup powder on the dresser and jewelry
on the bed. My cousins and aunts were running around the room; some were getting ready, some
were arguing and some were talking on the phone. The mixture of heat and expensive perfume
was asphyxiating. We re going to miss the trip tia ! I failed to understand why I was the only person
who was ready. We had all been aware of our reservations for the party boat in Old San Juanfor
almost a week.
We re almost ready Val, go start the car. Her response was almost humorous because I knew she
was nowhere near being ready. On her head, rested her shower cap and in the closet, hung her
dress. Respectfully, I continued to follow her orders and accept our inevitable lateness.
I was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico on February,4th, 1999. Since that day, I have come to the
conclusion that no one on the island is familiar with the concept of time. Puerto Ricans often
jokingly regard reoccurring tardiness as a common quality. Along with their skewed view of time,
they also seem to have an aversion to frugality. Unfortunately,

Comparison Of Drowning Girl And Pablo Picasso s Guernica
From the very first week of joining Art 101 I knew that I wanted my final art project to be a trio
of paintings for my mother, to pay homage to her career as an artist. Unfortunately, deciding the
theme or subject matter of these paintings was a much more difficult decision. The lecture on
narratives had the most influence on the final idea because I felt it resonated with my art style
the greatest. I love using small details or minor symbols to tell a story and the examples of
narrative art were some of my earliest sources of inspiration including Roy Lichtenstein s
Drowning Girl and Pablo Picasso s Guernica. Learning the aspects of play was also a major
contributor to the final project idea. Play was both fun and had the ability to make... Show more

I originally started painting flowers simply because it was what my mother used, but throughout the
project, I found my own unique sources of inspiration. My mother explained to me that she used
certain flower types for their curves and painted the petals to have figure like appearances. During
the sketching and painting process, I figured out I really love how nature can appear so simple
and beautiful and simultaneously being extremely complex. I felt as though using a simple object
in nature would be an interesting connection to some of the people I know best in the world
because there is so much backstory behind the object, much like backstory behind my siblings. It
was especially fun figuring out the flower meaning and choosing the best one for each sibling. I
used a blue iris for my brother because a blue iris represents wisdom, admiration, and inspiration
and I have always been competing against my brother while admiring his differences. My sister
is represented by a red amaryllis for her pride, determination, and beauty. It is also said to stand
for drama and I felt that captured her completely. I chose a purple dahlia for myself (with the help
of some friends) because it symbolizes staying kind despite being tested by certain events, a balance
between relaxation and adventure, and commitment to another person or certain ideal. I want

Essay on Argument for Legalization of Marijuana
Marijuana has become one of the most controversial drugs in America. Ever since its cultivation
began around 1611, marijuana has puzzled people with its effects. Many question marijuana?s
classification as a schedule one drug. A schedule one drug is one that has a high potential for abuse
and no medicinal value. Some argue that the war on drugs, in particular marijuana, has cost
taxpayers billions and is wasting funds that could be used on more important tasks such as
improving transportation or education. As drug arrests rise, so do the populations in state prisons.
This has become an immediate problem with no real solution. The legalization of possessing small
amounts of marijuana can contribute positively to the medical and... Show more content on

National Council of Churches endorsed the decriminalization of marijuana. One must believe that

some medicinal purpose. In 1996, California passed Proposition 215, which legalized possession
of marijuana for patients with a doctor?s recommendation who are suffering from AIDS, cancer,
Glaucoma, and other illnesses. In September of 2000, federal Judge William Alsup of the Ninth
Circuit Court in San Francisco ruled that the government could not punish doctors who
recommend the benefits of marijuana to their patients. This verdict gave ill people a sign of hope
that they will be able to take whatever medication necessary, even marijuana, to treat their
sicknesses. Even though marijuana has many ways in which it may help an ill person, it is like
other drugs in which it has side effects also. Smoked marijuana has the same affects on the body as
tobacco, which is a legal and tolerated substance. Chronic smokers of marijuana are at risk for

Essay On The Restoration Of The New Netherlands
Since the many splits and merges of various religions, it seems that the Jewish people have never
seemed to be accepted in any other religious domain. In this Petition, the Jewish people have been
kicked out of yet another country, Brazil, which was previously under the power of the typically
religious tolerant Dutch. This petition is a way for the Jewish people to contact the Dutch West
India Companyto address the fact that they are making it more difficult for the Jewish people to
travel and live in another country.
During this period multiple things were happening with the British colonies and with Great Britain
itself. Some of these things include the first set of slave codes, the colonization of the Carolinas,
Georgia, and East and West Jersey, but the two that I will be focusing on are the restoration of the
Monarchy and the conquering of the New Netherlands by Great Britain. ... Show more content on

Before this England didn t have a monarchy but instead has a man named Oliver Cromwell
controlling all of England. In the 1660s, which most call the Restoration period, the monarchy
was brought back to the throne by King Charles II. King Charles II changed the way that Great
Britain thought about their colonies. He believed that the future of Great Britain rested in the
colonies hands, so he changed how the way Great Britain dealt with the colonies. First, he
granted allies control of areas of the colonies so that they could settle the area faster and be able
to focus completely on said colony; this was different from the way the colonies were controlled
before because they were Royal colonies, the King had complete control, but now they are called
Proprietary colonies. This establishment of Proprietary colonies leads to the next topic of how
Great Britain conquered the New

Rhetorical Devices In Ground Zero
In the essay Ground Zero by Suzanne Berne writes about her very personal experience visiting
Ground Zero the place where the twin towers stood prior to the tragedy of 9/11. She uses
rhetorical devices throughout her essay to make the piece feel incredibly intimate and emotional
to the reader. She specifically uses imagery, tone, simile, and metaphor to explain her experience
to Ground Zero in a deeper and meaningful way to her readers. Berne uses rhetorical devices in
her essay Ground Zero to let her readers feel the same emotions and imagine the same things she
saw on her visit to make the essay very intimate and realistic. In Ground Zero Berne uses many
examples of imagery and metaphors to paint a descriptive picture of her surroundings and what she
saw to enhance her readers experience. She uses the imagery to make her readers feel as if they
were there and make them feel the same feelingsof awareness, and sadness she did. Suzanne
achieves this by recalling back to the horrid memories of 9/ll when the skyscraper shrouded in
black plastic, the boarded windows, the steel skeleton of the shattered Winter Garden. (Berne
176), By using these extremely explicit and descriptive details Suzanne allows her readers to
experience the rude awakening she had when she saw nothing in Ground Zero, but was able to
recall the chaos that went on that day. Suzanne lets her readers understand what was going on in
her mind , and clearly experience what she was feelingthat day

Why Magic Should Not Be Confused With Witchcraft
In the 21st century what do people think of when they hear the word magic? Is it Harry Potter
and his friends fighting off Lord Voldemort or perhaps as Black Sabbath sings witches at Black
Masses? It is probably a bit of both depending on your age and religious beliefs. This was not the
case during the time period extending from antiquity to the early modern period. People in this time
believed that magiccould explain things they did not understand or could not explain. It was not
for entertainment. Magic probably claimed to provide all the answers which were later provided
by science, technology, and philosophy: it was everything. This statement stands true for all three
periods this paper focuses on even the early modern period when religion was supposed to have
taken place of magical beliefs. Magic should not be confused with witchcraft. People believed that
you could perform magic without being or needing a witch. In antiquity, people believed that
magic was between religion and superstition. In a sense, magic, understood as a kind of science,
has always tried to locate the secret forces in nature, especially their sympathies and antipathies
and use them for specific purposes. Ancient Greeks and Romans practiced or believed in many
forms of magic but the magical ideal that lasted the longest and is seen throughout all three time
periods is the ideal of malefic, the use of magic to do evil or harm. Medea is a prime example of
this type of magic. She uses her

  • 2. Use Of Renewable Resources For Alternative Fuels Current transportation is heavily dependent on fossil fuels such as oil, gas, and coal. Petroleum based fuels such as gasoline and diesel fuel, the most commonly used fossil fuels, are causing increasing global concern because petroleum is a finite resource. This means that as the amount of available petroleum decreases over time, the need for alternative fuels will increase. This is an important matter because it affects global energy security, food security, the environment, and economies. With governments around the world attempting to cope with increasing greenhouse gas emissions, the world is turning to cleaner, more efficient energy use and the use of renewable resources to address air pollution, global warming, and climate change.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the global population continuously increasing, the use of farmland and grains for the world s food supply will be competing with the use of the same land for biofuel production, which may lead to an increase in food prices around the world. Global bioethanol and biodiesel production has significantly increased over the last 14 years. It is possible that biofuels produced from crops using conventional agricultural methods will increase the stresses on water supplies, water quality, and land use, compared to petroleum fuels. There would be agricultural competition between food crops and energy crops for resources such as land and water. Agricultural expansion due to increased prices of foods would place further stress on water supplies due to increased irrigation. Population growth, climate change, and natural disasters also place additional stress on water supplies, but these factors are already at play and natural disasters may be unpredictable (Koh and Ghazoul, 2008). Increasing biofuel production will affect the biogeophysical capabilities of soil due to changes in land use and may affect the nitrogen cycle due to increased use of nitrogen fertilizer (Delucchi, 2010). Recent research into using wood and grass for cellulosic ethanol production may be fruitful as most of these crops can be grown on agriculturally degraded land ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Paper About Turkeys I believe the short film was made for a fun informative. The videographer took advantage of an unusual topic and made the story interesting. The main point of the story was to show an average neighborhood s day interrupted by random turkeys, leaving the neighborhood in astonishment. The videographer demonstrates the story from the resident s point of view but mostly the woman s point of view. I think that was the case because of how the woman was so delighted about the entire situation. The story engages the audience by bringing curiosity of how the turkeys got there in the first place and what are the turkeys going to do afterwards. Correspondingly, the videographer captures a long shot of the turkeys walking out of the shot towards the pole. This video for starters, does a good job of establishing the setting of the neighborhood with a sequence of a few basics shots. In the beginning the viewers notices the long shot of the plane and the houses, a close up of the branch, and a cut away of the American flag. The videographer also uses natural sound, catching the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The videographer does a great job of focusing the camera on objects that make the neighborhood seem average. For example, the plane flying by, the kid on the skateboard, and the ADT sign. Showing the turkeys and the residents in a shot is essential for the audience to get an understanding that this event is random and unexpected. Voice overs are important to the story by showing whoever is speaking at the time, what they are doing. It basically creates a better understanding. I personally thought it was cool how the videographer got a high shot for the ending of the video of the turkeys walking away. Also, that shot specifically, was longer than normal in my opinion, for a theatrical affect. The fact that the turkeys were roaming a neighborhood randomly was a perfect idea for any viewer s ... The risk factors for each recognized phenotype of asthma include genetic, host, environmental factors and family history.[23] Factors that can contribute to asthmaor airway hyperreactivity may include any of the following: 1 Environmental allergens: (e.g., house dust mites, animal allergens, especially cat and dog, cockroach allergens and fungi). 2 Gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD): The presence of acid in the distal esophagus, mediated via vagal or other neural reflexes, can significantly increase airway resistance and airway reactivity. • 6. Influenza Viruses Are Responsible For An Average Of The... Abstract Influenza virus infection remains one of the largest disease burdens on humankind. Influenza associated bacterial co infections contribute to severe disease and mortality, during pandemic and seasonal influenza episodes. The mechanisms of severe morbidity following influenza bacterial co infections mainly include failure of an antibacterial immune response and synergy of the pathogens. Moreover, the failure to resume function and tolerance is one of the main reasons for excessive mortality. In this review, some new advances of the mechanisms of severe disease associated with bacterial co infections following influenza virus infection are discussedreviewed. Analysis of these mechanisms should help to develop novel approaches for the prevention and treatment of severe influenza virus co infections. Keywords: co infection; influenza; bacteria; resume function; tolerance; mortality. Background Despite modern medical and public health standards, influenza remains one of the main principal lethal infectious diseases worldwide [1]. Influenza viruses are responsible for an average of 400,000 deaths per year globally [2, 3]. During previous influenza pandemics (H1N1, 1918; H2N2, 1957; H3N2, 1968; and H1N1, 2009) and seasonal epidemics, many cases of influenza virus related deaths actually occurred due to bacterial co infections [4 11]. Since the 1950s, researchers have increasingly focused on concomitant infections with influenza viruses and a range of bacterial agents. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Integrity In Cyrano De Bergerac Integrity is the quality of being honorable; or having morals. In other words, having a code of ethics. In Edmond Rostand s Cyrano de Bergerac, Cyrano is supposed to be the tragic hero; the protagonist. This really fits his situation in the story because he truly tries to do the right thing and honor his friend but makes one decision he will regret for the rest of his life. In the book, Cyrano falls in love with Roxane, who falls in love with Christian. This love triangle will alter all of them in ways they don t expect. At the end of the story, he dies without having a true relationship with Roxane; yet, he claims that he still dies with his integrity. I believe that Cyrano did not die with integrity, because he lied to Christian and Roxane even on his deathbed. While Christian and Cyrano were fighting for their lives in battle, Cyrano continued to send letters to Roxane, because he promised to make sure Christian would. By now, it is obvious to the readers that Cyrano is in love with Roxane, but not to Christian. He is very oblivious to the whole situation but eventually figures it all out. It should... The qualities give the guidelines on what is the plant or creature, what it would appear that, how it is to survive, and how it will associate with its encompassing surroundings. The qualities are hung together in long stands of material called deoxyribonucleic corrosive (DNA) and these long strands are called chromosomes. Most living things have sets of chromosomes (one from every guardian), however they might have an alternate number of chromosomes from another living thing. For instance, people have 23 sets of chromosomes and the organic product fly has 4 sets. Every quality is comprised of long blends of four distinctive nucleotide bases. This problem case details the steps to determine an effective retail design that would maximize success for Juice Guys in the east coast market. After reaching triumph in the west coast market, Juice Guys is looking to expand firstly into the Boston neighbourhoods. Boston consumers had a strong likeness for NantucketNectars but the market was different: metropolitan city (year round) versus summer only in Nantucket Island. To accomplish this feat, the company must decide how to target and position the stores given the differential differences in demographic and environmental traits. Furthermore, Juice Guys needs to determine who are their customers, their inclinations for the product and their preferences to a smoothie store. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This poses a substantial financial loss as each store provides a total of $1300 with margins as high as 50%. Alternatively, Juice Guys has only been successful in the west coast; therefore the company will not risk future losses. They have a deep reputation with consumers for their products, which leads to increased potential of brand resonance. However, as the west coast consumers differ from the east, there is the possibility of Juice Guys products not being accepted as welcomingly. 3.Expand into east coast and design for east coast needs Juice Guys can capitalize on the brand equity of the brand yet design retail concepts in Boston according to local needs. This option will allow the company to replicate the success they achieved in Nantucket Island (modifying operations to open during summer to meet local consumer needs). Additionally, this will allow the Boston market to understand this new product offering. However, as retail concepts differ across the country, there may be the lack of consistency across the brand, which will confuse consumers in Juice Guys brand message. • 13. Research Paper On Circumcision When having a child many questions arise such as where will we take baby while we work, how are we going to accommodate another person in the household, and the ultimate will we circumcise? For some families in the world it is not even a familiar question discussed, but unfortunately in the US it is a very prevalent practice. It saddens and almost scares me that we have become so desensitized to the thought of male circumcision of newborns. In reality it is a very horrendous unnecessary procedure that is far too over looked. Majority of the world do not participate in the circumcision of male newborns and deem it unnecessary. I believe this barbaric practice should be stopped. Hopefully in the next few decades circumcision will ultimately no longer be the decision of parents in the US, unless deemed medically necessary. Cutting off a vital piece of skin on a vulnerable, sensitive, healthy organ should be the decision of the person in question not the parent, not your body not your choice. The origins of circumcision date back farther than the bible. One theory that stuck out to me was one that originated in Africa as a way to purify people, as sex was considered to make one impure. Therefore, how would you keep people from having sex? I would assume maybe to desensitize the sex organs would be the best option, hence circumcision. The well cited source, CIRP, states that, Human sexuality was seen as dirty or impure in some societies; hence cutting off the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are two kinds of skepticism, local skepticism, which states that some areas of inquiry don t allow for knowledge, and global skepticism, which states that we cannot know anything about the world, (Bogosian). One of the most common arguments for skepticism is the Brain in a Vat argument, which is very similar to the argumentof the Evil Demon who controls us. In opposition to this is a philosopher by the name of Hilary Putnam, who uses language as proof for us not being brains in vats. I am going to explain to you why I think that Putnam is correct. So, c.I am not a BIV (Brueckner, 2004) However, it is also stated that you cannot know that the image and knowledge of trees were not programmed into the brains in vats, so they could know that the word tree means the image of a tree. So unfortunately this, like most other Cartesian skepticism arguments, for me at least, is a hard sell. If I had to decide on one of the two arguments to be the strongest, I would choose the argument against the idea of brains in vats. This is mostly because I believe that there are too many emotions and individual decisions that play out in each person s life for us to all actually be brains that are controlled by a computer or by one person. Every single day we are making hundreds of decisions and the responses to the same question, when presented to a variety of people vary significantly, and some of those decisions can change spur of ... • 15. Financial Reporting And The International Accounting... Introduction Purpose Complexity in financial reporting is apparent especially when applying it to relevant accounting theories. Complexity is the state of being difficult to understand and apply (SEC 2008, cited in Petersen, 2012). When we apply complexity to accounting we think of it in terms of applying it to accounting transactions which flow onto financial statements and how these were developed from the Accounting Standards. (Peterson, 2012, p.73). The purpose of this report is to address the complexity of financial reporting and how the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) intends to do address this problem through its Disclosure Initiative . The International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is the international accounting standards developed by the ISAB. The ISAB have set up the Disclosure Initiative to examine where IFRS could be improved. We will examine the complexity of financial reporting and how it applies to Positive Accounting Theory (PAT). We will also discuss how measurement of financial reporting effects the complexity of financial statements in terms of fair value and historical cost methods. We will use supporting evidence from peer reviewed journal articles to support our argument. We will then present our findings and recommendations to the Corporate Governance Council Chairman of Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). The Opportunistic View AGENCY THEORY Agency theory refers to the relationship between the owners ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Fair Tax Reform The push for a tax reform continues to be a popular topic. Many people see the current structure as inequitable and complex. The new proposed tax structure that has been gaining attention is called the Fair Tax Act. It would institute a national sales tax at a rate of 23% if it were enacted. The idea is to make the taxstructure more simplistic and spread out the tax burden. Another interesting proposed change relates to tax brackets. These brackets would no longer be needed to decide rates on taxable income. Investments will also be much different and potentially have a greater economic impact because the tax on capital gains and property will no longer be in existence. People would be getting taxed on what they spend since it is a sales tax, similar to what is seen now. It would be much higher, but people would also be receiving a much higher paycheck. This would help to prevent double taxation that periodically occurs. Spending habits will become important to watch and see if people will want to spend less to prevent paying taxes. However, less spending may have a questionable impact on the economy and for businesses. This could also affect the amount of funding government programs would receive in the new form of taxation proposed in the Fair Tax Act rather than having federal taxes withheld, such as FICA taxes. Investments will also be treated differently. The current tax structure has a tax on the gain of long term assets at a preferential rate. This reduces the actual gain made on investments. However, the Fair Tax Act would no longer have a tax on capital gains. There would be fewer restrictions and have the ability move them more freely. This would be a much different structure than the current structure and provide more of an economic impact. The Fair Tax Act would bring about many changes to the tax system. Historian S, Phillips argues that Stalin was undoubtedly skillful in using the circumstances that presented themselves in 1924 and opportunities that arose thereafter to overcome his opponents in the party . This view supports the idea that Stalin used his political shrewdness and skills to outwit his colleagues for the battle for power and positioned himself in situations that he could benefit from and gain advantages which is an alternative factor to the Party machine argument as the main reason for Stalin s dominance of power. Cholera struck again in 1849 and 1866 before New Yorkers learned how to contain the disease. Measuring the reaction of New Yorkers to these increasingly traumatic public health disasters shows how understandings of disease were filtered through contemporary ideas about class and social relations, conceptions of immigrants, and thinking about the responsibilities of the city s government in issues of public health in mid nineteenth century New York. The first documented case of cholera was on June 24, 1832 in NYC (McNamara 2015). In the 1830s immigrants began to flood New York City, they often lived in poor conditions with compacted living areas. • 32. Similarities And Differences Between The Aeneid And The... In many ways, Virgil s Aeneid mirrors Homer s Odyssey. Through context, characters, and themes, these two famous ancient epic poems are similar; however, in morality and treatment towards the gods, they differ drastically. By comparing the two protagonists most popular epithets, one can immediately see how unalike they truly are. Odysseusis often referred to as The Stormer of Cities or the Sacker of Cities whereas Aeneas is almost always referred to as the Pious or Good Aeneas (depending on the translation). These two epithets create a divergence in theme culture between the two epics, for they directly reflect the morals of the cities that these epics are written for and about: Rome and Athens. How a community presents their hero is how they present their ethos. The original of the two, the Odysseywas written (supposedly) by Homer around the end of the eighth century before common era. As one of the oldest works of Western Literature, the Odyssey set the stage for the later epics to come. Evidently, one of those works would be Virgil s Aeneid commissioned by Augustus himself. Emile Durkheim Theory On Suicide Analysis SOCIOLOGY CIA 3 Semester III Critical Analysis of Emile Durkheim s Theory on Suicide Tenzin Kunsang 1313658 BA EPS II INTRODUCTION Suicide is the act of deliberately killing oneself. The case of death can be positive action such as jumping from an upper window or negative action such as hunger strike. Durkheim eliminates psychotic paranoid suicide because it is non sociological explanation of suicide and it is not the result of self concise aim. The factor correlation between mental disorder and self destruction varies considerably. Scotland had comparatively high level of lunacy but there is low level self destruction. While Saxony showed a low level of lunacy but a high rate of self destruction. Alcohol addiction and substance abuse are eliminated by Durkheim (Law, 2011, p.200). Undoubtedly, race itself is abolished as an irrational concept. In the month of summer and at temperature degrees of latitude (50 55 degrees), there are more suicide cases because when communion is most competency public, especially in urban areas. One of the causes of non social associated to suicide that Durkheim examines is imitation. Durkheim differing the suicide rates among protestant and catholic, he argues that stronger social control among catholic result in lower suicide rates. According to Durkheim, catholic society has normal levels of integration while protestant society has low levels. He says that suicide rates are higher in men than in women. Suicides rates are higher among those who are not in relationship than those who are married. Because of the being single, the women do not have children so there is more suicide case in ... PESTLE Analysis on Tesco Therefore, by discussing the environmental factors of PESTLE , in my personal opinion, I strongly believe that the Political , the Economic and the Legal environments have the most impact on Tesco as it operates internationally, in the United Kingdom and within 12 markets across Asia and Europe. For this very reason it very important to consider all possible, political, economic and legal structures, impacts and outcomes which might affect the overall success of the company as they play a major role in relation to one another. When looking at the political factors for Tesco, and, as it operates in a globalized environment with locations across the world, the company s performance is extremely influenced by the political and legislative functions of each country. In terms of legislations under employment, the government really encourages retailers to provide work place opportunities from, flexible, lower paid, local based jobs to highly skilled, paid, and centrally located jobs (Balchin, 1994) to meet certain demands relating to students, senior citizens and working parents. The company understands that while being in the retail industry, it has a large impact on individuals and the work place (the development of new stores may often be seen as a conflict to other retail sectors due to the fact that the traditional stores go out of business or are forced to cut certain cost in order to being able to compete) as being a fundamentally local and labour intensive sector. ... • 37. Taking a Look at Vatican II Ecumenical councils are a practice that age back to the reign of Roman Emperor Constantine. An ecumenical council is a conference of Christian bishops in order to resolve current issues affecting the entire church . The councils would publish texts and legislation that would become crucial to the development and operation of Christianity. The Second Vatican Council , or Vatican II, was the most recent ecumenical council. Vatican II is considered to be one of the major events of the twentieth century and impacted not only the church but also the modern world. Vatican II came to be through PopeJohn XXIII. Pope John expressed his intentions of calling an ecumenical council just three months after his election. This came as a shock to many because Pope John was almost eighty years old at the time and was known by many to be an uncontroversial man. His reasoning behind calling the council was pastoral in nature. This meant that Pope John wanted the council to focus on the lives of believers and their experience of living the faith in the world as it is today . Pope John wanted Vatican II to be a dialogue with those outside the church in order for the church to become more positive and relaxed in modern times. Vatican II made five notable contributions to the reform of the church. Those contributions were the reform of the liturgy, the self understanding of the church as the people of God , relations with other Christian churches and with non Christian religions, the churches ... • 39. Gothic Architecture In Europe s Influence On English... 1INTRODUCTION Originating in France, which had an even greater impact on English architecture than in previous centuries, the Gothic style is an era of European architecture and art, starting 1140 and lasting until the mid 16th century. It is the epoch between Romanesque and Renaissance and heavily makes use of imagery as well as allegory. In architecture, the Early, High and Late Gothic periods are distinguished. Depending on surroundings and time, these periods have developed differently. Vast cathedrals and churches but also a few domestic buildings provide the strongest representation of Gothic architectural style (Wikipedia contributors, 2017a). 1.1ORIGIN OF THE TERM GOTHIC The term Gothic originally was a swearword (meaning: barbaric, unfamiliar) which the Italian art theorist Giorgio Vasari wanted to express his disregard of Gothic art in relation to antiquity. Gothic architecture was called opus francigenum which means French Style (Wikipedia contributors, 2017a). 1.2DEVELOPMENT OF THE GOTHIC ARCHITECTURAL STYLE Gothic represented a break with the past which is expressed by getting rid of massive wall constructions, an emphasis on views and diagonal lines. This style of architecture with its new elements made buildings seem like or inspired by a skeleton which is a first and has not been practiced in ancient as well as medieval architecture (Watkin, 2015a). Gothic architecture draws on basics of Romanesque s technologically developed art of construction and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Literary Analysis Of The Dogs Could Teach Me By Gary Paulsen Out of the three stories, The Dogs Could Teach Me, The Sniper, and The Flowers, The Dogs Could Teach Me by Gary Paulsen best demonstrates description. This proves to be true through Paulsen s consistency of descriptions throughout the entire story, unlike The Sniper. The Dogs Could Teach Me begins with, There was a point where an old logging trail went through a small, sharp sided gully a tiny canyon . . . It might have been a game trail that was slightly widened or an old foot trail that had not caved in. Likewise, Liam O Flaherty starts out The Sniper by writing, Dublin lay enveloped in darkness but for the dim light of the moon that shone through fleecy clouds, casting a pale light as of approaching dawn over the streets . . . However, by the third paragraph of The Sniper O Flaherty scrivens, He was eating a sandwich hungrily. He had eaten nothing since morning. He had been too excited to eat, while Paulsen continues the same pattern of writing saying, Later I saw the beauty of it, the falling lobes of blue ice that had grown as the water froze and refroze, layering on itself. Even though the very beginning of The Sniper collates with the beginning of The Dogs Could Teach Me, in the sense that both writers start out with very strong descriptions, Paulsen s portrayals become more powerful because of how consistent they are. Between Paulsen and O Flaherty s pieces of writing above, the reader gains a clearer picture of the ambience surrounding Paulsen in The Dogs Could Teach Me than of O Flaherty s character eating a sandwich due to the shift of focus O Flaherty decides to take. Paulsen s main goal out of the two examples above was very evidently to describe these situations, howbeit, O Flaherty s was not. Since the author of The Sniper decides to turn to action based writing instead of creating vivid pictures in the third paragraph, it causes The Dogs Could Teach Me to become a better example of descriptionthan The Sniper. Paulsen also chooses to incorporate a variety of figurative language into the short story The Dogs Could Teach Me, whereas the author of The Flowers does not, taking Paulsen s descriptions to the next level . For instance, a simile that appears in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A variety of potatoes were distributed and placed into unknown amounts of corn syrup which range from no corn syrup to 100% corn syrup. Then the following day, the results were recorded on the size of the potato. Results stated that as the amount of syrup increased, the smaller the potato got. The hypothesis stated that if the potatoes were placed in a high percent of syrup, then it would shrink, which corresponds to the results causing the hypothesis to be supported. Soon results were shared and connections were made. Even though all the results weren t identical, the numbers still shared similarities as it was only a few decimals off. Most of the initial and final masses were the same; however, the change in mass varied. These results may relate to a miscalculation or mistake in using the formula. In response to no response, I stood up from my chair and marched into my cousin s room. I was startled as I walked in on one of the most frantic scenes I had ever witnessed. There were clothes sprawled on the floor, makeup powder on the dresser and jewelry on the bed.
