Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
For this paper I have chosen obsessive compulsive disorder. According to psychologytoday.com,
(2017), Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder in which people have
unwanted and repeated thoughts, feelings, images, and sensations (obsessions) and engage in
behaviors or mental acts in response to these thoughts or obsessions. This topic is one that I find
very fascinating, because half of the population may not realize they are suffering from this
disorder, including myself.

disorder over time will cause suffering and weakening. OCD can have several symptoms. They
could be symptoms such as harming oneself or possibly others, sexual, items placed a certain way,
or even your feelings being a certain way. I wouldn t use this source to write a paper. I found it
difficult to understand. I don t think there is enough information in this article.

In this source it will discuss that 1 2% of our population is afected, but Turkington, Davidson,

time. ERP can be defined as a behavior therapy. ERP was established by a U.K. psychologist

symptoms. Approximately 25% of patients drop out of treatment, because they find it terrifying to
face their fears. Participants who successfully finish their treatment will show

The unintended consequences that change the world forever are easily observed in hindsight. For
WW II to come together the winners in WW I had to become even more oppressive against the
Germans causing pain and depression.
A simple rule is that energy has to be used, it just does not disappear into the ether.
Think of it as the ultimate re cycle plan in the world. In a way evil and bad emotions have a price
that is extracted once it has gone through the universe re cycling system.
The emotional energy from this oppression paved the way for Hitler. When the US bombed the
boarder between Cambodia and Vietnam, it cut off ruthless and well trained Vietcong guerrillas
from getting back to Vietnam. Theses fighters ended up in the dense jungles of northern Cambodia
where they came across the Khmer Rouge, a communist group who was in need of training. The
Vietcong helped the Khmer Rouge, knowledge is power and the Khmer Rouge quickly displayed
this power by committing genocide in Phenom Penn. and allowed pure insanity to unfold as they
systematically killed millions of their own people.
Deep personal loss is one of those things that can make a difference because its stored energy

The selling price of $300 less labor, materials, variable overhead, AND selling and marketing
expense leaves us to a CM of $142.5 per unit made in house. In determining the cost of the
binoculars we must include the variable expense of selling and marketing as it represents a cost
that can ultimately be avoided if we choose not to produce the product. Alternatively, we can
determine our CM per unit outsourced using the same analysis, but using the purchase price to
reach a CM of $95 per unit if outsourced. Using these two figures we get an incremental CM
gained from outsourcing of ($47.5) or an incremental benefit from making it in house of $47.5.
Lastly, it is important to note the capacity demand for Binoculars is 1 Square Feet per unit.

Stylistics By Robert Frost
STYLISTIC ANALYSIS IN POEM ENTITLED
STOPPING BY WOODS ON A SNOWY EVENING
BY ROBERT
I. Introduction
The word stylistics is derived from style. Stylistics is a branch of Linguistics which deals
with different styles. It refers to the study of appropriate use of words or language in a sentence
or writing. Widdowson (1975, p 3) defines stylistics as the study of literary discourse from a
linguistic orientation‖. He added by saying that stylistics is the link between literary criticism and
linguistics. And has (as yet at least) no independent branch of its own. He also says that stylistics
involves both literary criticism and linguistics, as its morphological construction suggests: the
style is relating it to the former or shape and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The writer #39;s style
affects the manners how it is interpreted. Style also depicts writer #39;s personality. The style of
Robert Frost in his poem is being observed in this study.
Materials and Methods
I.1 Materials
The material was taken in Robert Frost s poem entitled Stopping by Woods on a Snowy
Evening . Robert Frost (1874 1964) Robert Frost, an American poet, was born in San Francisco,
California. He is a well known modern poet. He is generally regarded as a poet, teacher, and a
man of wisdom. He had a profound knowledge of literature, history, science and philosophy.
Frost is a philosophical poet from the start.
His aim was not writing poems for charming rustic but philosophical anxiety, stoical sadness
which were obvious in his later work. Philosophical poetry deals with questions about life, death
and man #39;s destiny in the universe. Frost also raises such questions though his answers are vague
and often equivocal (Khan, Raffique and Saddique, 2014). quot;Stopping by Woods on a Snowy

Similarities Between Phillis Wheatley And William Apess
Both Phillis Wheatley and William Apess include theological orientation and religious rhetoric
strategies in their writing but in different ways. Wheatley isn t necessarily concerned with narration
in her poetry as Apess is in his writing. Her focus isn t really action, but ideas. In her text, her goals
are to worship, discuss philosophies about Christianity, redemption, and history. The themes in her
poetrycommunicate ideas of Christian devoutness, ethics, righteousness and death. A more in
depth reading of her works will, however, reveal their anti slavery ideas as well as her objection
to the subjugation of her race. She protests, stresses vengeance, and uses her powerful imagery to
draw attention to her search for power, order, and progress.

Qrt Floods Essay
The weather of the months leading up to the South East Queensland floods not only gives an
indication of the weather patterns before the flood, but shows the continuity and change in the
weather, which ended up causing this catastrophic natural disaster. The SE QLD floods was the
result of a continuum of a build up of conditions, which can be seen in the synoptic charts.
As seen in the Mid September month, there were many high pressure systems of 1025+
hectopascals affecting australia, in particular the south west areas of the country. The ridges of the
high pressure systems impacted the North east parts of Australia as well, including most of QLD.
This caused clear skies, and dry weather seen in most of QLD, with some areas having their ... Show

With the dominant cold front impacting the south and south east area of the state, more prominent
rainfall was found, in which QLD experienced wet and generally warm days in the north, and wet
and cool days in the south east. On the 25th of the month, North Queensland was impacted from the
low pressure system condition, bringing heavy rain, for example most of the Cairns region
recorded more than 200mm during the week. With a trough extending from Northern Territory to
QLD also brought strengthened conditions to this area of the country. This trough is the beginning
of an easterly dip, which are good sources of flood conditions. This weather in November
impacted this area of QLD greatly, meaning as the disaster unfolded, the conditions of SE QLD
aided the disaster to have an even greater impact.

The November month was the month leading up to the SE Qld floods. From the synoptic charts, the
conditions evident show the ultimate lead up in conditions for the natural disaster. The pressure
systems have moved southerly, in which QLD is not being significantly impacted by many pressure
systems. A High pressure system in the East of Australia of 1023 hectopascals is lightly impacting
the state, bringing warmer temperatures, in which 76% of the state experience

George Etienne Cartier s Legacy And Contributions
For my heritage fair I decided to research George Etienne Cartier, who if you haven t heard about
was a lawyer, rebel, politician and railway promoter whose contributions to Confederation were
on the same level as figures like John A. Macdonald and George Brown(Sweeny). If you haven t
heard of any of these people, then don t worry I ll be going into length on all of them.
Furthermore, if you were wondering why I chose this topic to research, I would truthfully tell
you that the only reason I chose George Etienne Cartier was because he was as good a topic as
anything else, so personally I didn t care about the topic. But as I put more research into the topic I
came to realize just how important George Etienne Cartier was to Canada. Not just in his efforts
towards Confederation but also the work he put into preserving French culture and identity in
Canada to railway development. Of course this isn t as exciting as many other topics, but without
George Cartier s legacy and contributions we would most likely not be where we are today. In this
report I will be covering the life of George Etienne Cartier, including his early life, background,
political life before and after Confederation.
Early Life and Rebellions
How did George Etienne Cartier grow up?
George Etienne Cartier was born on September 6th 1814 in Saint Antoine sur Richelieu to parents
Jacques Cartier (not the explorer) and Marguerite Paradis. George had 7 siblings and was the

Red Sky At Morning Summary
Red Sky at Morning is a book about a boy named Josh Arnold, who moves from his hometown,
Mobile, Alabama, to Corazon Sagrado, New Mexico. The story is set during World War II which
happens to be the reason for the families move. Josh goes through many things throughout the story
which makes him the man that he is at the end.
The first object I chose was a car. The car represents the families move from Alabama to New
Mexico. The family moves to New Mexico for safety during the war. Mr. Arnold leaves for the
Navy soon after their arrival in Corazon Sagrado. The move and the absence leave Mrs. Arnold
lonely and depressed. On the other hand, Josh grows from the move to Sagrado. He meets new
friends and learns a lot of important lessons.

The malt represents the new friendship between Steenie, Marcia, and Josh. The three friends often
go get malts together either for celebration or just for fun. They also go on different adventures
with each other and almost do everything together. Josh is lucky to have found such great friends in
New Mexico.
I chose a knife next because of the time when Tarzan stabbed Chango. Chango was a bully to a
lot of people, including Josh, and thought he was a real tough guy. When Tarzan stabs him it is
like a wake up call. He drops his tough guy act and even becomes a friend to Josh. Chango also
becomes a catholic, like his sister, after the stabbing.
Another item I chose was paint and a paint brush. These items represent Josh s new friend
Romeo, who is an artist. Romeo was a friend of Josh s parents and soon becomes a friend and
teacher to Josh. At the end of the story Josh finds out that Romeo even created his father out of a
bolder in his memory.
I chose a tree and cooking pans to represent Amadeo and Excilda. Even though they were servants
for the Arnold s they were also close family friends. Mrs. Arnold might not have been too fond of
them but Josh had a very close relationship with them. They were both teachers to Josh and helped

This essay will investigate the Austrian Energy Drink Company RedBull by analyzing the energy
drink market and determining where RedBull is positioned. I will further investigate and answer
the question: Should Red Bull continue with its marketing strategy in the United States to maintain
its market share in the rapidly growing energy drink market?

Fig.5 Red Bull US Sales Growth 2010 2013
The sales growth demonstrated above, however, is driven by higher consumer demand and
consumption of energy drinks as seen in Fig.2. Strong product awareness has been already
established in the United States and Red Bull has acquired an extensive and loyal consumer base
over the past years.
After analyzing the energy drink market, I came to the conclusion that Red Bull should try to
decrease its price in order to maintain the rising star position in the Boston Consulting Matrix in
which it currently is placed. New Product Development (NPD) is also crucial in order to compete
in the growing energy drink market in the United States.
Red Bull s Marketing Mix
Red Bull s marketing mix seems to harmonize based on its success. Especially the use of
sponsorship marketing was taken to the next level by the Red Bull marketing team. Today it is
almost hard to think of a sport that Red Bull does not sponsor. Their logo appears on motorbikes,
wakeboards, snowboards, formula1 cars, soccer jerseys and even high tech space suits designed for
jumping from the edge of the stratosphere. They even organize a quirky competition of homemade
flying machines to support their proposition Red Bull gives you

Naturalism As A Literary Genre
Anyone who has read American literature will know of the significance of naturalism as a literary
genre in American literature. Merriam Webster s definition of Naturalism is as follows: A theory
that art or literature should conform exactly to nature or depict every appearance of the subject that
comes to the artist s attention, specifically a theory in literature emphasizing the role of heredity
and environment upon human life and character development. Naturalismwent from being a
movement in the 19th and 20th century to the literary genre it is today. Even though some consider
naturalism to be stereotypical and one dimensional, naturalism remains an important literary genre
in American literature today because of it s ability to turn from a literary movement to a literary
genre and it s popular novelists and major characteristics remain front and center in American
literature today. Emile Zola created the term naturalism. Zola was a French novelist who sought a
new and modern way of convincing his readers of his fiction(Zhang 196). According to Xiaofen
Zhang, naturalism is believed to be a new and harsher realism (195). Naturalism became prominent
in the late nineteenth century in America. However, the Naturalistic movement had been going on
for some time in Europe. The movement of naturalism is heavily influenced by Charles Darwin s
theory of evolution (Literary Devices). Naturalistic writers had the belief that one s heredity and
social environment determine, the

Essay on An Analysis of Human Immunodeficiency Virus
An Analysis of Human Immunodeficiency Virus
Introduction
In 1983, scientists led by Luc Montagnier at the Pasteur institute in France, first discovered the
virus that causes AIDS. They called it lymphadenopathy associated virus (LAV). A year later,
Robert Gallo and Marvin Reitz of the United States, confirmed the discovery of the virus and they
named it human T lymphotrphic virus type III (HTL V III). In 1986, both names were dropped in
favour of the term human immunodefifciency virus (HIV).
AIDS is thought to have originated in sub Saharan Africa during the twentieth century. By the end
of 2004, it was estimated that 40 million people were currently living with HIV. Women account for

This recognition of HIV coreceptors and progress in understanding how HIV fuses with the cell
has opened up new possibilities for antiviral drugs. A number of new agents are being designed to
prevent infection by blocking fusion of HIV with its host cell.
Following fusion of the virus with the host cell, HIV enters the cell. The genetic material of the
virus, which is RNA, is released and undergoes reverse transcription into DNA. An enzyme in
HIV called reverse transcriptase is necessary to catalyze this conversion of viral RNA into DNA.
Once the genetic material of HIV has been changed into DNA, this viral DNA enters the host cell
nucleus where it can be integrated into the genetic material of the cell. The enzyme integrase
catalyzes this process, once the viral DNA is integrated into the genetic material of the host: it is
possibe that HIV may persist in a latent state for many years.
Activation of the host cells results in the transcription of viral DNA into messenger (mRNA),
which is then translated into viral proteins. The new viral RNA forms the genetic material of the
next generation of viruses. The viral RNA and viral proteins assemble at the cell membrane into a
new virus. Amongst the viral proteins is HIV protease, which is required to process other HIV
proteins into their functional forms.

The Children s Story Corduroy By Don Freeman
The children s story named Corduroy, was written and illustrated by Don Freeman. This story
was a warming story of a girl s love for her stuffed bear that I enjoyed as a child. It stands out to me
as a story that shows that no matter what our flaws may be or who we are, someone still truly
loves us.
In a small department store there was a stuffed bear named Corduroy, who was longing for an
owner to love him and care for him. Unfortunately, Corduroy was missing a button on his overalls,
leading his thoughts that nobody wanted take him home. One day when Corduroy was hoping that
someone would purchase him, a small girl spotted him and asked her mother if she could buy it for
her. Sadly, the girl s mother said no. That night, when the store was... Show more content on

The point in the story where Corduroy was purchased by the young girl and given a home
reflects the idea of adoption. As well, no matter what our flaws are, someone will want to take
us in and provide for us as a person that they truly loves. The fact that the little girl still wanted to
take Corduroy home and fix his overalls is a great example of this point. God will always be there
for you when you struggle.
The concepts in this book are fantastic points to remember throughout everyone s life and my
own. These concepts will always remind me that whenever I do mess up or do something wrong
that God will always care for me. Consequently, I am reminded that this story shows how God will
always love me no matter what mistakes I make in life. Thus, the whole story reminds me that I am
important and loved by God.
This story was a fantastic piece of work by Don Freeman, which I think will be a classic children
s book for ages. I plan on sharing it with my children to show them that I love them and that God
loves them. Even though it is a children s book, this is a fantastic reflection of how we should
love others no matter what their flaws are. Finally, it shows God loves everyone and wants the best
for everyone no matter who they

Leadership Styles Of Mohandas Gandhi
For ages world leaders have practiced different styles of leadership and they have been successful
in accomplishing many things from regional peace to world wars. Whether be political, tyrannical,
or religious, world leaders from generations past to current all share similarities and differences in
their leadershipstyles. World leaders have built respect and trust from developed personalities or
communication styles to motivate and inspire others into action. All leaders can learn from past
success and mistakes of any world leader. In this paper we are going to look at the practices and
leadership styles of Mohandas Gandhi and a brief comparison and contrast of leadership styles to
Fidel Castro.
Mohandas Gandhi
Mohandas Gandhi was born in 1869 in the Bombay region of Porbandar, Gujarat (DuToit, 1996).
He is known as one of the greatest leaders from India and is said to be the father of the Indian
Independence Movement. Gandhi did not become a spiritual and political leader overnight and
was influenced by a number of events throughout his life. From an unlavished childhood, Gandhi
was able to attend law school in London. This was once step in the direction of his quest for
morality and humility in society. After graduating law school, Gandhi practiced law in South
Africa where he quickly realized the discrimination against Indians in South Africa. One day he
was booted from a passenger train because he refused to sit 3rd class because he paid for a 1st class

What Is The Purpose Of Romantic Poems By Wordsworth
LYRICAL BALLADS, A EXPERIMENT
SULAIM SARFRAZ
In the Advertisement included in the 1798 edition of the lyrical ballads, Wordsworth explained why
this project of his was an experiment
The majority of the following poems are to be considered as experiments. They were written
chiefly with a view to ascertain how far the language of conversation in the middle and lower
classes of society is adapted to the purpose of poetic pleasure. (Lyrical Ballads, Wordsworth)
The basic purpose of this experiment was to revolt against the existing poetic practices that were
completely devoid of emotion and based purely on logic and reason like the poetry of the Augustan
Age. The lyrical ballads officially marked the start of the Romantic Revival of English ... Show

It brought novelty and freshness to English literature that had grown stale with the Augustan
age. Though from the outside it brought revolutionary changes to the literary scene of the time,
the preface and Wordsworth theory of poetry did not live up to what it preached as in many
poems Wordsworth himself completely discarded his own ideals and his partner in the creation
of lyrical ballads Coleridge himself wrote Biographia Literaria, a part of which is solely the
criticism on Wordsworth s theory of poetry. He rejected some of Wordsworth s ideas completely
i.e. that of poetic diction and the language of real men etc while he still believed in the great
importance of Nature in poetry that is the common characteristic of all romantic literature, but at
the same time his poems are not solely based on the natural. He believed that the objective of
poetry is only to give pleasure not to convey a truth which is the complete opposite of what
Wordsworth believed and that it should have organic unity, the essence of which is that just like a
living organism that cannot be separated from any of its parts without injury, all parts of a poem
must fit together as a whole. In his work, Coleridge in addition to writing about his own ideas,

The Impact Of Early Sports On Sports
Early specialization in a single sport has become increasingly popular. Early sports specialization
can be defined as year round training in a specific sport with the exclusion of other sports at a
young age. Youth are influenced and often encouraged to participate in one specific sport, with the
hopes of increasing their chances of being successful in that sport. With the money in college and
professional sports increasing the need to train children to compete at a high level has increased.
Young athletes often practice or play their specific sport throughout a large majority of the year. In
some soccer academies, sports specialization training can begin as early as kindergarten age. The
training last throughout the year academic school year, with tournaments during the summer
months. The day to day training may last several hours each day.
Some in the sports community find sports specialization to reflect a highly developed society and
see the skill acquisition and enhancement as beneficial to success in each sport; Being labeled as
gifted, the potential for a collegiate athletic scholarship; or making a varsity, elite, or even
professional level team. Hecimovich, M. (2004). There are numerous benefits of early sports
specialization due to the amount of practice of the sport specific skill. Early specificity enhances
motor skills and increases body awareness. The more time you spend practicing proper mechanics,
the better you are going to be at that specific sport.

he was 8 years old. He was also the victim of two recessive genetic disorders: combined pituitary...

It is such a striking feature in the Ptolemaic family that almost every scholar who had written about
Ptolemaic Egypt commented on the incest that took place between its family members (citation
PERIPD). The royal family resisted marriage with commoners or Egyptians with significantly
lower status and over time the Ptolemies began to abstain from exogamy altogether, marrying
within themselves. One of the main reasons of course, is because committing incest is a symbol
of power. There is also a cultural reason to it as well, derived from myths where the Greek
goddess Gaia (Earth) mated with her son Ouranos (Heaven) and brought order and structure out
of chaos. However, incestuous activity is mainly done to assert power and display dominance;
committing the taboo set the Ptolemies apart from ordinary standard rules of human behaviour
(citation PERIPD). There is also the desire to preserve the purity of royal blood and prevent it
from being tainted by commoners and outsiders. Finding a suitable and high status partner is
another reason to participate in inbreeding. With no other high status equivalent, the Ptolemies
turn to their own family members as they are of equal status and high rank and are sired from
the same high class individuals. There is again the cultural influence where in myths, gods marry
each other and because the Ptolemies considered themselves gods, incest was completely
acceptable. Another benefit to incestuous marriage is the control of the spread of genes. The
male has reproductive control over his wife therefore by marrying her he is able to counteract
possible rivals. The relative shares some of the same genes as the king, so by making her his
wife, the king is preventing her from siring offspring with possible rivals and passing on his genes
to outsiders

The Reflection Of Human Nature, By Seamus Heaney
Firstly, Heaney uses the structure of the poem to tell us about human nature. For example, the
slow, familiar rhythm of the iambic pentameter creates a reflective tone where the voice in the
poem looks back at the lessons learnt in the past. This shows how we glamorize the past even
our bad experience so we can learn from them. The two uneven stanzas with gently half rhyming
couplets add a softness and a musical lilt without imposing too much rigidity. This also reflects
the romantic memory and romanticised view of nature that we apply on our past experience
however gruesome. Plus, by using lists and multiple points of enjambment Heaney give the poem
a childlike and excited tone. This conveys the image not only of children and their views on the
world but how we look into the past and become children again recalling the events that faced our
young selves. Finally the long first stanza filled with the collection of the good, ripe fruit is
destroyed quickly from the short, second stanza full of rot and decay. I believe that this suggest that
however much we we gather and hoard our wealth will always deteriorate, often though death. This
emphasise how horrible the human nature of hoarding is, as it will always end in hardship.
Heaney also describes human nature though caesuras which are scattered throughout the poem.
For example,a caesura at the end of lust for picking makes the reader linger on the word picking
, stressing the action. This conveys the message that It is not the blackberries but the activity
that they lust after. This first caesura of joy and happiness is then juxtaposed by the next cesura
Like a plate of eyes. . This is a disconcerting image that matches the earlier images of flesh and
clots. It is also as if they are staring at him accusing him of hoarding all the fruit that he won t be
able to eat, plus the fact that he wrote it shows he is remorseful for his greed. The contrast between
these two caesuras suggests the message that it is human nature that our greed will always take
over the joy of the activity.
The seven deadly sins are scattered throughout the poem and helps Heaney describe human nature.
Firstly, Heaney say that after we pick the fruit we hoarded them in the barn.

African American Military Strategy
INTRODUCTION
The Fabian strategy, also known as strategic defense, is a military strategy in which a weaker force
avoids decisive battles with the enemy and creates delay in a war of attrition until the right moment
arrives to deliver a decisive blow. General George Washington and his Continental Army,
supplemented by the militia, employed this strategy successfully against the British Army during
the War for American Independence. The Russian generals did not, however, employ a successful
strategic defense against Japanese expeditionary forces in the
Russo Japanese War. To understand why, this paper considers the elements of the Fabian strategy
and compares how those elements were satisfied, or not, by General Washington and the Russian...

Civil Rights Lawyer
As a first generation black immigrant, I have experienced several encounters in my life that
have led me to believe our justice system is broken. For this reason, I would like to become a
Civil Rights lawyer so I can aid those in the corrupt justice system in the U.S and allow them to
express their inalienable rights that is so granted to all by our constitution. Civil Rights lawyers
advocate for equal protection under the law regardless of race, gender, region and many more
factors. These types of lawyers do this by protecting and urging for justice by the rights and liberties
stated in the U.S. Constitution or legislation (Thompson). Lawyers may choose to practice

The Four Biological Theories Of Aging
There are many broad theories that aim to explain why and how we age. These theories generally
compete with each other and typically only focus on one or a few aspects of aging. To truly have a
comprehensive aging theory, one must look to multiple theories, both biological and social. For my
theory, components from the free radical, immunological, modernization and continuity theories are
utilized.
Because the body is made up of many interacting systems and processes, it would make sense that
many of the individual biological theories of aging would interlink with one another to create the
aging process. The free radical theory is considered an error or chance theory (Madjaroff, 2014;
Issues in Aging , p.87 88). This means that this theory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the Holy Grail to the fountain of youth, mankind has been fixated with the idea of cheating
death for as long as possible. Now with the advancement of medical technology, the human
lifespan may be extended by a significant degree. If you look only at the personal benefits of
longer life, you would have more leisurely time and more time to spend with the people you care
about. But, for society as a whole, expanding the lifespan may not be the best course of action.
There are two ways you can look at the concept of life extension. Proponents of life extension
contests that longer lifespans give people the opportunity to correct mistakes they have made,
develop deeper critical thinking skills, and decrease their health care costs by postponing the

Descriptive Essay About Quadna
Ring a ding ding dong goes the alarm clock and I d be up. Springing from my brown bed, and I d
be off to the shower. I would then leap from the shower and begin brushing my teeth as I would
also be trying to dry myself off. Rushing as fast as I could. I would grab my giant red bag filled
with riding gear and check through it frantically one last time to be sure I had everything. Then
my Pa and I would be off to the greatest place on earth; the racetrack. More specifically the practice
track, that was raced on about two times a year. The track was formally known as Quadna
Mountain Park. I referred to the track as Quadna like many other riders. Quadna played an
important piece in the puzzle of my racing career. Along with my families support and my own
drive and desire, Quadna was one of the most important pieces. When you first turn onto the roadto
Quadna the first thing noticed is the giant oval sign with the letters QMP in blue with mountains
set behind the letters in the background. As we passed the sign on the left side of the road, we
would always look to our right at the aged and faded gray hotel that some of the racers would
stay in to see which racers were there at the time. After we would go past the hotel we would
take a right onto a dirt road that went into what seemed like thick woods. When the trees were
full of snow it looked like a winter wonderland. But about a half a mile down the road it makes a
sweeping left handed turn and opens up into a field where the

Good Thinking Paper In College
Writing on a high school level, and even a college level, has become more of a race for the best
grade, rather than actually forming a good paper. The midnight masterpiece , as some put it,
have become more and more common, and many people lose the idea of the paper during this
process. I know for a fact I have struggled with this issue of beautifying essays to make them
look, for lack of a better term, professional. Just like Milo B. Beckham states in his article, . It s
all icing like the staple and the font choice layers and layers of icing on a tiny, bland cake. That
statement is a very simple way of putting this issue into words. All students alike should be asking
themselves a very important question: What s the point of having a good looking paperwhen the
content is less than stellar? Over the years my writinghas become more and more proficient and
interesting, rather than good looking and clean. I have learned to put my ideas on to paper and I
stopped lying to myself when it comes to thinking I wrote a good paper. Instead of just telling
myself the essayis fine, I actually get other people to read my work. This helps me see a different
prospective on my paper. Harry Frankfort says In the old days craftsman did not cut corners. This is

when coming up with a topic sentence. Don t put down a long sentence with irrelevant, long and
excruciating words. Always read your paper out loud and check for problems in the flow of the
piece. Read over everything multiple times to decide whether or not you have gotten your point

Alternatively tyres can be recycled through civil engineering projects. These include projects
such as paving, erosion control and retaining walls. Tyres utilised in retaining walls are typically
a complete tyre that has been separated into halves prior to being filled with aggregate to
increase the structural integrity of the tyre before being placed in a number of possible
configurations. The tyres, once they are in their final configuration, can then be coated with a
number of finishing products, ranging from shotcrete to timber, to give a desired appearance.
The construction method of these walls can vary from a gravity supported system, where in the

further reinforcement is used to obtain the desired strength and stability. It is common practice in
construction of slabs for residential and commercial buildings to use permanent internal

Summary Of The Truth Of Fact By Ted Chong
As I read The Truth of Fact, the Truth of Feeling, by Ted Chiang, I started to make connections
from modern day life in the United States to the two examples of lifestyles and learning that are
described in this piece. I started to think about how much technology has, and does, influence the
average North American s education and lifestyle and how that has changed significantly over
the past few decades. I also started to think about how the device that is described in the reading
would be beneficial and hurtful to our society and what would happen if someone was able to
hack into the storage systems of all of the information. I believe that advances in technology for
personal use will soon get out of hand, if they have not already, and if we let ourselves rely on
technology too much we as a human race will digress. In tenth grade, as I was about to take the
PSAT to start the college process, I was instructed to write a pledge saying that I was the person

Cultural Anthropology And Human Experience By Katherine...
Anthropology is split into four different sections; cultural anthropology, linguistic anthropology,
archeology, and biological anthropology. If I were to favor one branch of anthropology, over the
others, it would have to be cultural anthropology. Although, it was hard to make the decision of
which branch I favored the most, I chose cultural anthropologybecause it gives us a greater
understanding of why we are the way we are. Also, why others are the way they are.
Cultural Anthropologists study living people, as Katherine A. Dettwyler states in her book Cultural

it , and what the consequences are. As a person who constantly analyzes every

Eassy On Deforestation
Deforestation is a commonly known environmental issue across our world today, yet still has a
long posed threat to our earth. Deforestation is a permanent process of humans removing a forest
or stand of trees where the land is later converted to a non forest use. The forest covers over 30%
of our planets land, and the ecosystems they create are essential for life. Not not only do forests
produce vital oxygen but provides homes and shelter for people and wildlife. Forests provide a
habitat for over 80% of the animals living on land and even for a large majority of humans, who
rely on rainforests for their daily food. In addition they provide protection from flooding and
sandstorms. But, deforestationis utterly diminishing them, at an extremely fast rate. It is estimated
that 4 to 6,000 rainforestspecies go extinct each year.
Deforestation occurs in different places around the world, tropical rainforests however are the most
common and targeted areas. The tropical forests are forests that span both sides of the Equator and
they are the most. They are the most diverse ecosystems on the planet. Brazil has the highest rate in
the world, since 1970 over 600,000 square kilometres of the Amazon Rainforest has been destroyed.
At the current rate of destruction, 100 years from now our forests could completely disappear. In
the Amazon for example, around 20% of the forests have been completely destroyed in the last 50
years, only due to forest conversion for cattle ranching.

Film Crash Meaning
The title of this film, Crash (2004), is significant in at least four different ways. The most obvious
meaning is mentioned in the opening scene where Detective Graham Waters says We think we
miss that touch so much, we crash into each other just to feel something. Detective Waters is
referring to the hundreds of crashes that occur in Los Angles every day that he believes people
need to feel alive. Cars and car crashes are major plot devices that are used in this movie to cause
people to meet each other. Another significance of the title is a crashing of cultures. The filmfollows

While every moment of grace was important, some were more meaningful than others. My
personal favorite moment of grace was when Officer John Ryan saved Christine Thayer from a
burning car that was about to explode. The night before, the Thayer family was pulled over
because the police were looking for a black Lincoln Navigator that was similar to the car they
were driving. Unfortunately, the family was pulled over my Officer Ryan who was very racist
and power hungry. Mrs. Thayer became very angry during the stop which led to Officer Ryan to
fondling her to show that he had the power to do so. When Mrs. Thayer saw that she was going
to be saved by Officer Ryan the next day under the car, she screamed and didn t want him to
touch her. Right before the car ignited, a fellow officer tried to pull Officer Ryan out to save
him, but he refused and crawled back under the car to save Mrs. Thayer. In true Hollywood
fashion, the car exploded as soon as Mrs. Thayer escaped. I think this was the best moment of
grace because all through the film, the viewer hates Officer Ryan for the unspeakable acts that he
does and yet he is still viewed as a hero after risking his life for someone

Sympathy In Eveline
Sympathy is a word many hear, but few accurately understand. It is often confused with empathy,
and many times true sympathy is occasional. Many people take a moment to feel bad or sorry for
someone, yet they rarely give it another thought. As a class, we read a short story by James Joyce
called Eveline. The first time reading this story, it was a bit confusing and quite irritating. As a
woman of the 21st century, one whom is fierce and independent, I found it tough to sympathize
with Eveline. Stop your pity party and create a happier life. This is what I found myself saying,
after my initial reading. However, I took a step back and actually looked at the story. I
remembered the context it takes place in. The year, country, and how different things were back
then. Placing myself in Eveline s shoes, a woman from the early 1900 s, assisted me in
sympathizing with her. Eveline was a female that was brought up in a poor area of Dublin,
Ireland. As with all underprivileged areas around the world things were harder. There was a
higher importance placed on morals and values. Eveline s job was to care for her father and the
house after her mother passed. A promise she made to her mother on her deathbed, and promises
are to be kept. She also had two children that she oversaw caring for. Her responsibilities were
routine, comfortable, and safe. There is nothing that the human race likes more than routine. There

shouldn t have to hide their bodies. When staff and administrators aim at girls whose dresses
may not be a full knee length or shoulder straps that aren t quite three fingers; it effects their body

Girls are viewed as a distraction the more we scold and repudiate girls on how they dress, the
more boys will begin to as well. Students feel ridiculed and ashamed of what teachers, admins,
and even other students say about their choices in clothing, or the fact of them being dress

is it appropriate to ask someone to change because their skirt is too distracting for other workers?

College athletes are used to create a billion dollar business, industries rely on them constantly

Flaws Of The Islamic Religion
Flaws In The Islamic Religion By Kyle Lindsey
Apologetics, Mr. Sweis
July 2015
Part 1: Thesis In 1900, the world was made up of 12.3 % Muslims. In 2010, The number rose to
22.5% making Islam the fastest growing religion in the entire world, exceeding even the growth
rate of Christianity. The American MuslimCouncil has estimated that there are 2,000 mosques and
Islamic community centers in the United States. More than 80% percent have been built in the past
12 years.
Is it possible then that Islam, such an attractive and fast growing religion, can be completely
flawed? Yes, the religion of Islam is filled with historical, scientific, and most importantly spiritual
flaws. Answering this question is important because people are becoming more and more blind to
the truth of the Christian religion by the rapid growth of Islam. Outlining the flaws of Islam also
helps to bring out the accuracy of the Christian religion.
How is it possible that Islam, the fastest growing religion, is so full of errors? Islam is growing
so rapidly because many of its followers are unaware of the extent of its corruption, and many of
its followers are equally unaware of how many errors can be found throughout the Quran. One
way to show people the flaws in Islam is by slowly picking it apart and in so doing, the person is
able to more clearly see the errors and parts of the Quran that do not match up with facts of history

Suicide is a desperate act that makes a strong, but sad, lasting statement. However, from this, a

she realizes Oedipus is her child. Jocasta s prideful character and revelation of Oedipus birth cause

During the time period of Oedipus The King, religion holds a strong influence upon state affairs as
the play depicts Oedipus asks for Apollo s guidance early within the play, After a painful search
I found one cure: I acted at once. I sent Creon, my wife s brother, to Delphi Apollo the Prophet s
oracle (Sophocles 80 82). As religion is shown taking part in official affairs, it is also likely to
assume that religion is highly valued in people s daily lives. Once Jocasta realizes she commits
incest, it is almost a damnation from the gods themselves. And combined with how incest is one
of the worst religious sins, adds to the weight of punishment. Also, being damned in the worst
degree is expected to hurt Jocasta s pride and self worth. Moving on, the revelation of Oedipus
parentage also causes Jocasta to feel despair and act erratically during her final moments.
Returning to the question proposed in the introduction regarding why people commit suicide, the
answer given within Oedipus The King is that people commit suicide out of guilt and because it
is a just action. Through her final moments, Jocasta s crazed actions clearly showcase guilt,
however, she also believes that suicide is a penance for her actions. Her constant denial of the
prophecy may be interpreted as an act against the gods and in order to atone for her sins, she
would likely commit suicide. Jocasta s suicide was indirectly caused by her personality, but only
triggered once Oedipus birth was revealed as her actions towards him contradict her

The Economics of the Fast Food Industry
Huge Profits and Salaries for the Owners
In order to best maximize their profits, the big fast food giant s created the franchise system. This
system allows the companies to maintain overall control of the product, and give them a

force best suited to local conditions. For us, as workers, that means our immediate employers are
often small business owners, and franchise owners who plead poverty when we demand higher

Answering Company Arguments Against Higher Pay
During our organizing drive management repeatedly tried to justify the poverty level wages we
earn. Below are the most common arguments and how to refute them.
Though we will focus exclusively on the claims made by Emerald City during our campaign,
most of the pizza and other fast food franchises will use similar tactics. These responses can help
workers combat corporate propaganda justifying the low wages and few benefits we are paid.
Pizza Hut doesn t have money for raises and we simply can t compensate you for the cost of
delivering our products .
This is the most common argument made by company executives and owners when workers
demand better compensation for their work. The problem is, this is just an assertion. And they
expect us to believe it. We need to ask: where s the evidence? We want to see financial records,
including: all payment to directors and share holders and payments to the multinationals. When a

Nostalgia And Loss In American Beauty
When watching movies, various life lessons or themes can be picked up on that are scattered
throughout the films in subtle ways. Some messages can be picked up instantly while other
messages will make you sit back and think just a bit harder. American Beauty was a film released
in 1999 that was filled with numerous interpretations of which themes can be accounted for.
Nostalgia and loss, and issues with obsession are two themes or issues that stood out when
watching the filmfor the first time. American Beautyis a drama film directed by Sam Mendes. The
film follows sympathetic lead character, Lester as he lives his boring, mundane life. Lester seems
to have the picture perfect life on the surface of things but that isn t always the case. Lester is an
advertising executive and magazine writer who eventually ends up despising his job. His wife,
Carolyn, is a career driven real estate broker who becomes more obsessed with... Show more

During the film, there is times when Lester wishes things can go back to the way they were. One
scene during the film Carolyn returns home to find Lester goofing off with a remote control car.

traffic helicopters and fake seizures. This is just once example of Lester being nostalgic and
remembering how life use to be. Another example of nostalgia within American Beauty in the
ending scene of the movie. Right before Lester died, he took a picture of the family that was
sitting in the kitchen and stared. He was reminiscing about how happy he was with Carolyn and
Jane and starting to feel at ease. Nostalgia makes people forget all their problems and issues for a
second and makes them happy once again just like Lester in the

Analysis Of The Storm By Kate Chopin
Kate Chopin in the Storm utilizes imagery in characters to build up the theme of love through the
perspective of sex and infidelity. The short story The Storm by Kate Chopin, manages the theme of
adultery. The story happens in the late 1800s. There are two fundamental characters, the spouse,
Calixta, and the previous significant other, Alcee. The short story, The Storm by Kate Chopinis
about a romantic lovethat would never be until the point when it quickly was. The point that
Chopin was attempting to get crosswise over was that Calixta and Alcee had a solid enthusiasm for
each other, and maybe loved one another, yet they would never have had the chance being in
separte social classes. It is an enthusiastic, yet concise affair between two wedded individuals from
various social classes that happens amid a storm in Louisiana around 1898. All through the story the
consistent changing of symbolism assumes an extraordinary part in the advancement of characters
and their capacity to accomplish the theme.
In spite of the fact that there is a physical in the story, there is likewise a storm of emotions.
Chopin can pass on the behaviors of her characters all through the story in light of the fact that the
storm that happens at the earliest reference point of her story. As the storm approaches Calixta is
home sewing, while spouse Bobinot and child Bibi are out at the store. Bobinot sees the dismal
mists that were moving with evil aim from the west, joined by a grim,

The demographic, economic and the socio cultural segments would be the most relevant segments
to Whole Foods Market. These segments have a direct impact on the profitability, sustainability and
survivability of Whole Foods Market, and the organic food industry. The relevance of the
demographic segment stems from the fact that the age structure, income distribution and population
size are important factors which will influence the demand for organic products. The economic
segment is relevant, as an affluent population will continue to drive and sustain demand for organic
products. The socio cultural segment is another relevant segment, where attitudes about quality of

Given that the organic foods industry is a rapidly flourishing one with a huge potential for profits,
this would be an attractive industry to compete in. The high entry barriers, lack of substitute
products and the huge pool of potential consumers will certainly mean an immense potential of
opportunities in an industry that has just started to grow. Whole FoodsMarkets is in an excellent
position to capture these opportunities and this will be explained below.
(iv) Responses to Wal Mart s foray into the organic foods industry
Focus strategy on market penetration, using existing stores situated in prime locations
Whole Foods Markets has been able to reach out to its target markets through the prime
geographical locations of its stores. By further leveraging on these locations through the offering of
more customized organic products, Whole Foods will be able to penetrate the market deeper. Given
that fact that it has established the Whole Foods Brand in affluent communities, it will be in a
better position than Wal mart to widen its target market and to reach out to potential customers.
Increasing brand awareness, appeal and loyalty though a more aggressive advertising and public
relations campaign
By increasing brand awareness and image, the reputation of Whole Foods will be enhanced. This
would be critical in reaching out to potential customers, as well as retaining current customers. As

Stylistics is a branch of Linguistics which deals with different styles. It refers to the study of appropriate use of words or language in a sentence or writing. Widdowson (1975, p 3) defines stylistics as the study of literary discourse from a linguistic orientation‖. He added by saying that stylistics is the link between literary criticism and linguistics. This recognition of HIV coreceptors and progress in understanding how HIV fuses with the cell has opened up new possibilities for antiviral drugs. A number of new agents are being designed to prevent infection by blocking fusion of HIV with its host cell. Following fusion of the virus with the host cell, HIV enters the cell. The genetic material of the virus, which is RNA, is released and undergoes reverse transcription into DNA. An enzyme in HIV called reverse transcriptase is necessary to catalyze this conversion of viral RNA into DNA. Once the genetic material of HIV has been changed into DNA, this viral DNA enters the host cell nucleus where it can be integrated into the genetic material of the cell. The enzyme integrase catalyzes this process, once the viral DNA is integrated into the genetic material of the host: it is possibe that HIV may persist in a latent state for many years. Activation of the host cells results in the transcription of viral DNA into messenger (mRNA), which is then translated into viral proteins. The new viral RNA forms the genetic material of the next generation of viruses. The viral RNA and viral proteins assemble at the cell membrane into a new virus. Amongst the viral proteins is HIV protease, which is required to process other HIV proteins into their functional forms. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is such a striking feature in the Ptolemaic family that almost every scholar who had written about Ptolemaic Egypt commented on the incest that took place between its family members (citation PERIPD). The royal family resisted marriage with commoners or Egyptians with significantly lower status and over time the Ptolemies began to abstain from exogamy altogether, marrying within themselves. One of the main reasons of course, is because committing incest is a symbol of power. There is also a cultural reason to it as well, derived from myths where the Greek goddess Gaia (Earth) mated with her son Ouranos (Heaven) and brought order and structure out of chaos. However, incestuous activity is mainly done to assert power and display dominance; committing the taboo set the Ptolemies apart from ordinary standard rules of human behaviour (citation PERIPD). There is also the desire to preserve the purity of royal blood and prevent it from being tainted by commoners and outsiders. Finding a suitable and high status partner is another reason to participate in inbreeding. With no other high status equivalent, the Ptolemies turn to their own family members as they are of equal status and high rank and are sired from the same high class individuals. There is again the cultural influence where in myths, gods marry each other and because the Ptolemies considered themselves gods, incest was completely acceptable. Another benefit to incestuous marriage is the control of the spread of genes. The male has reproductive control over his wife therefore by marrying her he is able to counteract possible rivals. The relative shares some of the same genes as the king, so by making her his wife, the king is preventing her from siring offspring with possible rivals and passing on his genes to outsiders ... • 20. The Reflection Of Human Nature, By Seamus Heaney Firstly, Heaney uses the structure of the poem to tell us about human nature. For example, the slow, familiar rhythm of the iambic pentameter creates a reflective tone where the voice in the poem looks back at the lessons learnt in the past. This shows how we glamorize the past even our bad experience so we can learn from them. The two uneven stanzas with gently half rhyming couplets add a softness and a musical lilt without imposing too much rigidity. This also reflects the romantic memory and romanticised view of nature that we apply on our past experience however gruesome. Plus, by using lists and multiple points of enjambment Heaney give the poem a childlike and excited tone. This conveys the image not only of children and their views on the world but how we look into the past and become children again recalling the events that faced our young selves. Finally the long first stanza filled with the collection of the good, ripe fruit is destroyed quickly from the short, second stanza full of rot and decay. I believe that this suggest that however much we we gather and hoard our wealth will always deteriorate, often though death. This emphasise how horrible the human nature of hoarding is, as it will always end in hardship. Heaney also describes human nature though caesuras which are scattered throughout the poem. For example,a caesura at the end of lust for picking makes the reader linger on the word picking , stressing the action. This conveys the message that It is not the blackberries but the activity that they lust after. This first caesura of joy and happiness is then juxtaposed by the next cesura Like a plate of eyes. . This is a disconcerting image that matches the earlier images of flesh and clots. It is also as if they are staring at him accusing him of hoarding all the fruit that he won t be able to eat, plus the fact that he wrote it shows he is remorseful for his greed. The contrast between these two caesuras suggests the message that it is human nature that our greed will always take over the joy of the activity. The seven deadly sins are scattered throughout the poem and helps Heaney describe human nature. Firstly, Heaney say that after we pick the fruit we hoarded them in the barn. ... These include projects such as paving, erosion control and retaining walls. Tyres utilised in retaining walls are typically a complete tyre that has been separated into halves prior to being filled with aggregate to increase the structural integrity of the tyre before being placed in a number of possible configurations. The tyres, once they are in their final configuration, can then be coated with a number of finishing products, ranging from shotcrete to timber, to give a desired appearance. The construction method of these walls can vary from a gravity supported system, where in the wall retains the earth through the physical weight of the wall itself, to fully reinforced where further reinforcement is used to obtain the desired strength and stability. It is common practice in construction of slabs for residential and commercial buildings to use permanent internal formwork, which is the use of nonconcrete materials to reduce the material costs when pouring the slab. Common practice is to use polystyrene blocks to offset the amount of concrete used however it is possible to utilise tyres in the place of polystyrene blocks furthermore it is possible to use site generated waste that would require to be disposed of using other means. Summary Of The Truth Of Fact By Ted Chong As I read The Truth of Fact, the Truth of Feeling, by Ted Chiang, I started to make connections from modern day life in the United States to the two examples of lifestyles and learning that are described in this piece. I started to think about how much technology has, and does, influence the average North American s education and lifestyle and how that has changed significantly over the past few decades. Anthropology is split into four different sections; cultural anthropology, linguistic anthropology, archeology, and biological anthropology. If I were to favor one branch of anthropology, over the others, it would have to be cultural anthropology. Deforestation is a permanent process of humans removing a forest or stand of trees where the land is later converted to a non forest use. The forest covers over 30% of our planets land, and the ecosystems they create are essential for life. Not not only do forests produce vital oxygen but provides homes and shelter for people and wildlife. Forests provide a habitat for over 80% of the animals living on land and even for a large majority of humans, who rely on rainforests for their daily food. In addition they provide protection from flooding and sandstorms. But, deforestationis utterly diminishing them, at an extremely fast rate. It is estimated that 4 to 6,000 rainforestspecies go extinct each year. Deforestation occurs in different places around the world, tropical rainforests however are the most common and targeted areas. Unfortunately, the family was pulled over my Officer Ryan who was very racist and power hungry. Right before the car ignited, a fellow officer tried to pull Officer Ryan out to save him, but he refused and crawled back under the car to save Mrs. Thayer. In true Hollywood fashion, the car exploded as soon as Mrs. Thayer escaped. Many people take a moment to feel bad or sorry for someone, yet they rarely give it another thought. As a class, we read a short story by James Joyce called Eveline. The first time reading this story, it was a bit confusing and quite irritating. As a woman of the 21st century, one whom is fierce and independent, I found it tough to sympathize with Eveline. Stop your pity party and create a happier life. This is what I found myself saying, after my initial reading. However, I took a step back and actually looked at the story. I remembered the context it takes place in. The year, country, and how different things were back then. Placing myself in Eveline s shoes, a woman from the early 1900 s, assisted me in sympathizing with her. Eveline was a female that was brought up in a poor area of Dublin, Ireland. As with all underprivileged areas around the world things were harder. There was a higher importance placed on morals and values.
