What Is The Cause Of The Hindenburg Disaster
Hindenburg the end of the speedy luxury airlines. In 1937 as a Hindenburg s passenger you could fly
from Europe to America in half the time it would take by ship. Not only that as a passenger you would
be able traveled in luxurious interiors that would never again be seen in the air again, because of the 7
million cubic feet of hydrogen gas that ignited destroying not just the Hindenburg but also the use of
blimps. [Design of the Hindenburg] The basic design of the Hindenburg was conventional, and based
on time tested technology used by chief designer Ludwig Dürr and the Zeppelin Company for
decades. The ship was built with triangular duralumin girders (bright blue from protective lacquer)
forming 15 main rings, connecting 36 longitudinal girders, with a triangular keel at the bottom of the
hull, an axial corridor at the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The spark was most likely caused by an electrically charged atmosphere. The cause of the hydrogen
leak is a sort of a mystery, but we know the ship experienced a significant leakage of hydrogen in the
past before the disaster so it was probably not repaired correctly and returned because no evidence of
sabotage was found, and no convincing theory of sabotaged has ever been proven. The simple truth is
that Hindenburg was destroyed in 32 seconds because it was inflated with hydrogen. [The aftermath]
Hindenburg left the town of Frankfurt with 97 people onboard of which 62 survived the crash at
Lakehurst many of which suffered serious injuries. Thirteen of the 36 passengers, and 22 of the 61
crew, died because of the crash, along with a member of the civilian landing party. And the decision
on who lived was a matter of luck as to where you were at in the ship, if you were deeper in it like in
the sleeping quarters or the smoking lounge they did not

Insect Preservation In Amber
Insect preservation in Amber
Tree resin has helped entomologist piece together the history of insects. First occurring during the
Triassic, coniferous trees produced tremendous amounts of resin to protect against attack by pests and
other parasites. The sticky sap like substance would trap organisms that came in contact and
eventually engulf them. Over time, the tree resin fossilized and became amber, preserving the trapped
life form inside. The encasing of the organism allowed for its preservation (Penny et al. 2013). Pieces
of amber show a moment frozen in time and let entomologist witness ancient insects and give a
screenshot of their behavior. Therefore, entomology has been able to utilize the amber to study the

After her eggs had hatched, she continued to carry her young in a brood chamber on the underside of
her belly. The chamber is made by horizontal projection coming off her thoracic legs, and her young
would have stayed there until they could fend for themselves (Boucot Poinar 2010). Today, isopods
demonstrate the same maternal care, but without the preservation of amber, the similar behavior would
not have been known. Money grasshoppers are another example of a similar behavior caught in amber.
These specimens are among the rarest insects to be found in amber. This grasshopper is mobile in the
treetop region of a forest but tends to rest in small patches of sunlight down in the shrub. When resting
in the bushes, the grasshoppers cross their hind legs. This is a way for the grasshoppers to avoid
predators. The hind legs resemble two crossing stems, allowing the grasshoppers to blend in amongst
the shrubs. Some grasshoppers have been found preserved in this position (Poinar Poinar 1999).
Grasshoppers have been using their hind legs for camouflage for millions of years. Which implies, the
technique must help them avoid predation. Isopods continue to take care of their young and have yet
to become extinct. These methods have been successful and will probably still be successful until
something drastically and suddenly

Christine Castel Biography
Christine took up writing so she could support her family. Her father, Tommaso Di Benvenuto di
Pizzano, was an astrologer to Charles the Fifth, the king at the time. He was respected greatly by
Charles the Fifth. Christine was married at fifteen to Etienne du Castel. This was arranged, but they
loved each other anyways. Etienne was a scholar, a nobleman, and the Duke of Guyenne. He was part
of the French court, and supported Christine completely on her writing interests. Etienne and Christine
had three children together, including Jean de Castel, who was born in 1384 and lived for eighty eight
years. That is the only known child. One fateful day, Charles the fifth died, and Christine s father lost
his job. Not long after, Tommaso got sick and finally died. Just a few months later, Christine s
husband, Etienne, got the bubonic plague and died. Christine was so devastated she wished she could
just die. The thing was, Christine had to take care of her family or else they would starve to death. She

The first works Christine started to write were poems. Poems make up most of her writing. Usually
those poems were about Christine s long lost love, Etienne, but that was before she realized how badly
women were being treated. Remember, these were the Middle Ages; women weren t even able to work
back then. Women also (usually) had no form of education. Women were even considered their
husband s property. Christine started to criticize women s lack of rights in her works. She believed
strongly in gender equality and that women were strong, heroic, and brave. Other than gender equality
and love poems, she also wrote biographies and autobiographies. This includes a biography about
Charles the Fifth, which was very flattering and pleasing, and her autobiography, which talks about
her thoughts on women. This was written to cease the continued debate about women. Christine was

how depressing it is leading to suicide. The most common age of committing suicide is the ages
between fifteen and Twenty Four. As of right now more and more people are making suicide attempts.

The Paul Revere
From a lieutenant of artillery to a silversmith, Paul Revere is a man of many talents. He had a bigger
impact on American history then just exclaiming, The British are coming, though. Paul Revere is
important to American society because of his participation in politics, community affairs, and wars
and his craftsmanship. Paul Revere was born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 1, 1735. Revere
was born to Apollos Rivoire, who later changed his name to Paul, and Deborah Hichman. Deborah
had grew up in Boston whereas Apollos moved to the city when he was 13. Revere was one of twelve
children and the third born. Paul Revere dropped out of school relatively young to become an
apprentice to his father who was a silversmith. In 1754, Revere s father died and being too young to
take ownership of the business, he enlisted in the army. It was during the French and Indian War that
Revere enlisted into the army. After just a short time, Revere was appointed second lieutenant of
artillery. This is where he first began a position of great success that he will use later in his life. He
spent the summer at Fort William Henry in New York. During his stay at the fort, he thoroughly
learned what his new position entailed. Not feeling that the war was his calling, he dropped out and
went home to take over family business. In August of 1757, Revere married Sarah Orne and within
just eight short months, they had their first child. The two had eight children together, but

Static Stretching Benefits
Almost every athlete from amateur to professional stretches before exercise, and coaches and trainers
have recommended static stretching as an essential part of a warm up routine for years. But why do we
stretch? What do we gain from this routine? Stretching increases flexibility, but many people stretch
specifically before exercise to gain additional benefits, mainly enhanced athletic performance, reduced
muscle soreness, and injury prevention. However, research suggests that stretching does not provide
these additional benefits in any significant amount. There is very little evidence that supports the
claims people make about the benefits of stretching before exercise, but there is no evidence that it is
harmful. It is simply overrated because it does not provide the benefits people think it does. Static
stretching before exercise is unnecessary because it does not improve athletic performance, prevent
muscle soreness or reduce the risk of injury. Although stretching improves flexibility, it does not
improve most athletic performances. Activities such as gymnastics require extreme flexibility, but
most sports and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main goals of a warm up are to increase blood flow and prepare the body for specific movements,
but static stretching does not accomplish either of these goals. It does not elevate the heart rate
significantly and it does not prepare the body for most movements. Instead of emphasizing static
stretches, a warm up should emphasize dynamic stretches. Dynamic stretches increase blood flow and
move the muscles through their normal range of motion, preparing them for more intense exercises. A
warm up should also include movements that use similar body parts that will be used in the later, more
strenuous movements (Isner). Dynamic stretches should constitute most of the warm up because they
prepare the body for exercise better than static

A Comparison Of Thomas More s Utopia, And The Symposium By...
Utopia by Thomas More, and The Symposium by Plato are similar in that they both challenge pre
existing notions in society. The two stories prompt readers to reconsider certain aspects of life which
one might have found to be quite one sided. Thomas More introduces us to an island called Utopia
which serves as a model of perfection in each facet of everyday life. In The Symposium, Plato and his
friends contribute distinctive interpretations on the origin and meaning of love. Both author s purpose
in their writings was to confront ideas in which society has a rather common shared perception of.
In Utopia, More is introduced to an experienced world traveller named Hythloday. Hythloday claims
to have visited the island of Utopia, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beginning with agriculture, which is an important resource not only for good health, but economically
as well. The Utopian agricultural sector is assumed to be extremely efficient and productive, this is
proven as They export the surpluses to their neighbors (More, p. 93). Additionally, the mass
participation in the country and on the farms benefit Utopia as well, as all town residents take turns
working on the fields. Furthermore, Europe, along with many other Western societies, base their
economy on capitalism. Capitalism is an economic system in which earning capital is prioritized and
property is privately owned in order to maximize a profit for those specific owners. Utopia however,
contends with the idea of capitalism as it emphasizes equality and shared profits for all. More
reiterates this by stating that ...there is only one way to attain general well being, and this is equality in
the distribution of goods. I doubt if such equality can ever be achieved where there is private property
(More, p. 86). By discussing the lack of private property rights in Utopia, the author is critiquing the
present day European society/economy by advertising the successes and perfection of Utopian society
which lacks private property rights. In the Symposium by Plato, the idea of love is being challenged
through the contrasting outlooks of love, which are given by Socrates and his friends. As the friends

Dopamine Hypothesis And Anti-Psychotic Analysis
In regard to proposals put forth to explain what dysfunctional mechanisms are causing schizophrenia,
the dopamine hypothesis has been one of the most prevailing. The earliest versions of this hypothesis
proposed that dopamine producing neurons in the brain were hyperactive (Haracz, 1982). An updated
hypothesis, version II, described which specific areas were producing too much dopamine (Davis,
1991). Since that publication, thousands of other ideas have been put forth to test the dopamine
hypothesis. Advancements in neuroimaging techniques have created a pool of information ripe for
another iteration of the hypothesis. The first dopamine hypothesis was put forth after the discovery of
anti psychotic drugs and the observations that they could

Transforming Information to Knowledge
To begin with, it is necessary to consider the information life cycle, which consists in transforming
information to knowledge and knowledge to information. When you find different types of data that is
a random collection of facts in the outside world, later you give them some context and thereby this
organized data is converted to information now. Then, this information with a value or a meaning,
when it is interpreted is turned into knowledge. So it is transformed into information that you
communicate and share with others and in this way, the same cycle starts. To sum up, information is
random and miscellaneous and, conversely, knowledge is ordered and cumulative. Moreover, the cost
and the value of information depend on the use of it. Information has its price, for example, the money
paid to access Internet and its value, the relevance of it. What is more, this term describes the actual
society where the creation and use of information is a significant technological, economic,
occupational, spatial and cultural activity, or some combination of all of these. Moreover, it is
important to know in what ways and why information is becoming more central today (Webster, 2006)
that is leading to a new sort of society. The technological scene involves the findings in information
processing storage and transmission, along with the reductions in costs and the increase in the powers
of computers. All in all, it is translated into the convergence and imbrications of computing

Analysis Of Heather Havrilesky s No Sympathy For The Devil
In the No Sympathy for the Devil Heather Havrilesky tells us how the appearance of the hero
influences the attitude of the audience towards him. Havrilesky claims that: the likability of any given
protagonist represents one of the most subjective assessments you can make about a TV show (465). I
agree with his statement and my opinion can be explained with the help of the hero Damon from the
TV show The Vampire Diaries. Damon is one of the most evil guys in the Vampire Diaries TV show,
but sometimes he does good deeds. The main confirmation of my statement is two good Damon s
action: he saves Caroline after a car accident and protects Elena from killing.
The first way I will agree with Havrilesky is an example of how Damon saved Caroline after a car
accident. Damon in the TV show The Vampire Diaries is shown by an evil handsome with an
unpleasant temperament. In most cases, he does only bad things and takes care of himself, but
sometimes he really surprises the audience by helping others and doing good deeds. One of the main
examples of this behavior is when in the second season in the Brave New World series he saves
Caroline after a car accident. Damon gives her his blood so that she will recover faster and feels better.
Unfortunately, Caroline is killed and she becomes a vampire. After all the events, Caroline s mom
finds out the truth, but even here Damon does not give in. He supports Caroline and tries to reconcile
them with Mom. In the end, Caroline and Damon become friends. Thus, it becomes clear that even
bad characters in a TV show can do good deeds. But in fact, if you think for a minute, each viewer is
sick and sympathetic to Damon, despite all the bad things he does. Havrilesky says: For the past
decade, TV has been awash with deeply flawed antiheroes: philandering ad men and pill popping
nurses, meth cooking chemistry teachers and mob boss suburban dads. But when you launch a show
that s centered on an unethical protagonist, how do you keep viewers engaged and invested in that
character indefinitely or at least through six seasons? (465).The author says that a really negative hero
forces viewers to follow him to the very end. Watching how his life develops. It s the bad characters
that

History of Internet Essay examples
Without a doubt, the Internet is undergoing a major transition as it experiences a tremendous influx of
new users. Due to the anarchic, distributed nature of the net, we cannot even begin to enumerate the
population of the Internet or its growth. As more of the world s population moves on line, new
concerns will arise which did not confront the earlier generations. The new culture will demand
different resources, services and technology than the old generations expected and used. Already we
can witness a clash between the emergent culture and the entrenched culture. The largest conflicts
occurring now are about sharing resources, the impending commercialization of the net, and the
growing problem of computer crime.

It is only in the past year or two that we have begun to see the explosion of the new generation on the
Internet. Businesses have begun connecting themselves to the net, especially with the prospect of the
NSFNET backbone changing hands to permit commercial traffic. Public access nets run by
communities or businesses are springing up in cities all over the world, bringing in users who know
little about computers and are more interested in the entertainment and information they can glean
from the net.
Commercial providers like America Online and Compuserve are beginning to open gateways from
their exclusive services to the open Internet, specifically allowing their users to access email, netnews
and soon ftp and telnet services. The explosion of BBSs and the shared Fidonet software has brought
many users who were previously unable to get an account through a university to the world of email

services. Several state s, such as Maryland, have begun efforts to connect all their residents to the net,

even several progressive coffeehouses in the San Francisco Bay area and soon in the Boston area are
offering public net access.

Mark Twain And Maxine Hong Kingston
In the mid 19th century, America was viewed as a hotspot for freedom and wealth. When the noise of
the gold rush flooded the world, immigrants started to see America more appetizing than ever. The
Chinese saw America as a place to have a fresh start and as a place of refuge because of it s
generosity, so they immigrated to the west in great numbers. There was a large Chinese population in
Virginia and all along the Pacific coast. Writers Mark Twain and Maxine Hong Kingston both wrote in
great detail about the Chinese Immigrants. They went into detail about the immigrants and how they
came over and why. Although Twain and Kingston both wrote about the immigrants in a positive light,
Twain was sympathetic of the immigrants and Kingston focused more on their image and her
ancestors. Mark Twain and Maxine Hong Kingston are both influential writers when it comes to the
history of the Chinese Immigrants. Bother of them showed a great amount of detail on their journey to
America. Mark Twain actually pities the friendless Mongol, there were many superficial stereotypes
of the Chinese immigrants (Ou 33). Twain ridicules the American s racist attitudes against the
Chinese. For example, in Roughing It, he wrote, In every little cooped up, dingy cavern of a hut, faint

Academic Writing Styles
Academic writing
Proper academic writing should demonstrate the students understanding of the subject at hand. (Elton,
2010) adds that because academic writing may defer from discipline to discipline, instructors in
schools have a duty to express their expectations of students writing while students on the other hand
should act on it.
Academic writing is logical
The student s work needs to have a introduction, the body and the conclusion. The introduction gives a
background to the topic and one could include interesting facts and quotations. It is important to
outline the main ideas that are in the body. The student then discusses the main points in the body.
This is done in paragraphs which should be well structured to give a coherent argument. The
conclusion is the final paragraph and must briefly summarise every idea discussed in the body.
Other s works
Academic writing builds on what others have done on the same subject. A student therefore needs to
base his work on his own ideas as well as what others have done and thought about, however, students
should take care not to get lost in another scholar s voice but should instead incorporate the
information so as to maintain the novelty of his argument. (Hampton, 2014) states that another scholar
s work should be fully acknowledged by accurate citation.
Academic writing is objective
Academic writing is objective (A. De Montfort University Website, 2014) states that one needs to

The Criminal Justice System And Psychology Essay
I WANT TO BECOME A CRIMINAL PSYCHOLOGIST AND THIS IS WHAT I LEARNED
Madelynn Krutsinger
Introduction
I m double majoring in Criminal Justice and Psychology because further down the road in my life I
would love to be a Criminal Psychologist. I choose these fields because I love being able to
understand why people do what they do. I want to understand why people do things a certain way, just
looking at it in a psychological kind of way. Especially with criminals, what led them to murder that
guy or rape that girl? What pursued them and what part of them thought that it would be acceptable?
I really enjoy the concepts of the criminal justice system and how it works. I grew up in a family that
revolved around emergency units, ranging from EMTS, AEMTS, Prison Guards, Nurses, Police
Officers and so forth. Being around that at the time gave me a love for the field. Understanding the
codes, the high pace calls, honestly, even the hours. I fell in love with the idea of being able to make a
difference in people s lives, and for example, if I was going to be a police officer that is what I would
do. Originally I had planned to go to Waldorf University and major in criminal justice to become a
police officer. I saw many two faced/unreasonable officers throughout my years of growing up that I
wanted to do something different. I remember hearing about the cases on tv and thinking, hey, I can

My Epidemiology Course Analysis
Throughout my college career, I have taken courses in: epidemiology, organic chemistry,
microbiology, infectious diseases, biostatistics, and public health. All my courses have helped me
establish a broad and expansive understanding of public health and the multiple fields that it consists
of/overlaps with. In the infectious disease course, which I completed this past semester, there was a
focus on the microbiology lab techniques used in identifying disease, including: equipment, mediums,
and chemical reagents used to do so. The course also focused on the biology of infectious diseases
including immune responses and treatment/prevention and how that relates to identifying them in a lab
setting as well as the public health implications. My epidemiology

The Dilemma Of The Euthyphro Dilemma
The Euthyphro Dilemma gives the readers many good points to understand relativism about morality
and connect with religion. Also, this is these dialogues between Euthyphro and Socrates, and it find
out in the Plato s dialogue. In the Euthyphro, Socrates asks whether a thing is pious (or good or right)
because it is loved by the Gods (or, in its secular form, loved by someone ), or is a thing loved by the
Gods (or someone) because it is pious (or good) (Plato, 1981, 10a); it can be considered one of the
questions and the most luminous message of this article. Through the Euthyphro Dilemma, the

Moreover, God controls this action to obligate Jones s donation; this is the particular point about God

Socrates gives the readers two different points in the argument. The first horn is that God is assuming
command for these obligatory actions like right or wrong. The second horn is supposed about these
actions of morality like allowed or independent of God s teachings; this is these right or wrong things

Reflection About Hunting
Hunting has dated back to ancient times when there were massive sheets of ice covering the planet,
and yet, all of the evolving the human race has done, it is still a crucial part of some people s everyday
life. It has been a family tradition for dads to take their sons into the woods, and teach them the ways
of stalking your prey, and finally killing it. On my eighth birthday, I woke up to my dad dressed in a
camouflage top holding onto a bow and arrow and a massive white target standing at his feet. His first
words were we are going to have fun today . I instantly thought that that day I was going to be killing
my first animal, but to my dismay, it turned out that blood was not shed for three years.
I loved that bow and arrow, and I can remember everyday after school I would go to the garage and
shoot that bow to the point where I couldn t manage to draw it back. After about month, I had lost
hope in killing anything with that bow because I was not able to shoot it straight. There was a time
that I was shooting in the garage at a target, and the arrow slipped out of my hand, and it had managed
to hit a bottle of lighter fluid. Granted I there was not enough force behind the arrow to push it the
entire way through the can, but it was enough to spill the lighter fluid all over my foam target. I was
no longer to use my bow and arrow unsupervised.
Years later, my dad decided to take me to the gun range. He had brought the gun that his father had
taught him how to shoot

Modern attempts to understand leadership often ignore the considerable insights provided by great
figures of the past.
Bernard M. Bass demonstrates that leadership was a recognized phenomenon from the emergence of
civilization.
Sampling of thinking about leadership from different perspectives as well as from various time
periods and cultures will be given.

Greeks admired and wanted heroic leaders that had 1. justice and judgment (Agamemnon), 2. wisdom
and counsel (Nestor), 3. shrewdness and cunning (Odysseus), and 4. valor and activism (Achilles).
Machiavelli believed that there is nothing more difficult to take in hand, more perilous to conduct, or
more uncertain in its success, than to lead in the introduction of a new order of things. o He believes
that leaders needed steadiness, firmness, and concern for the maintenance of authority, power, and
order in government.
Hegel s (1830) Philosophy of Mind argues that by first serving as a follower, a leader subsequently
can best understand his followers, which people still believe today.

Kingship is a form of heroism.
A King is the commander over Men subordinates must loyally surrender themselves to their King.
A King commands over its people to furnish them with constant practical teaching, and to tell them
what they are to do.
Carlyle believes that putting the Ablest Man in each country in a supreme place and loyally respect
him will lead to a perfect government.
People will believe that what the Ablest Man tells them to do will be the wisest and the fittest. o
However, most people cannot do this. They cannot entrust everything to one person, they need
evidence and structure.

Due to the need to prove the effects of the harshness of reality, the modernist concerns of the post
World War I period resulted in changing views on traditional Victorian values and a loss of ontological
ground. The Modernist movement saw a break from traditional Victorian values such as having sex
after marriage and the perception of sex before marriage and its consequences which is illustrated
through Hills Like White Elephants . Hemingway explores the complex thoughts of the characters Fig
and the man through non linear structure of dialogue. The process of abortion is new to the woman
who tries to receive reassurance from the man but through stream of consciousness, it is apparent that
the man is all too accepting of the abortion and desensitised to it They just let the air in and then it s all
perfectly natural. Hemingway portrays the man as an insensitive human as he continues to proclaim
that the abortion is nothing and that he will love her regardless of her choice. The human condition is
also explored in Hills Like White Elephant where the meaning of life is questioned and freedom from

Hiv And The Hiv Epidemic
The AIDS epidemic, from its beginning, has elicited a variety of responses from individuals and
governments alike. Because the disease was originally shrouded in such mystery, many did not know
how to react, which fostered a default fear of the unknown response. This attitude lead to many
governments adopting a denialist policy, countless individuals living and eventually dying alone due
to an unwillingness to report their illness for fear of consequence or prejudice, and this allowed the
HIV virus flourish. Several countries responded efficiently and effectively to the presence of the HIV
virus in their midst, while other countries maintained an attitude of ignorance. The latter position
contributed to a huge expanse of the HIV epidemic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since this original effort, the Brazilian government has adopted several policies that have greatly
advanced the treatment of HIV positive citizens, reduced stigmatization, and guaranteed funding and
access to medication to all those in need. The Brazilian Ministry of Health (MoH) established the
Brazilian National AIDS Program (NAP) in 1986 with a focus on prevention, universal care and
treatment, and the protection of human rights. Civilian societies continue to be actively involved in
advocating for their individual rights as citizens and toward the advancement of Brazilian society as a

In the past seven years, mortality rates due to AIDS in Brazil have fallen by 50 percent. The Sistema

Cognitive Development And Social Development
This essay will concentrate on cognitive development as opposed to physical, language or social
development. There are two schools of thought which aim to explain cognitive development, namely
continuous cognitive development, through the behaviourist account, and stage like development,
through the organismic account (Smith, 1997). We will explore Piaget s contributions to the field with
his account of cognitive development happening through concrete stages, namely the sensorimotor,
the pre operational, concrete operational and the formal operational stages. The experiments he
developed to prove his theories will also be examined, as well as the criticisms that more
contemporary literature have put forth about these. By the end of this ... Show more content on

Piaget believed shematas to be of essential importance for children s cognitive development, and
assumed that these are stored and expanded. Schematas are patterns of behaviour learned, stored and
then used when confronted with similar situation, for example a person may have a schema about
getting on a plane: get their boarding pass, go through security, wait in the lounge, go to their gate, get
on the plane (this type of schema is called a script) and whenever they are in an airport ready to travel
they will retrieve the schema from memory and apply it to the situation . For infants schemas tend to
be a lot simpler and it is in their course of their cognitive development that these expand and multiply.
According to Piaget, some schemas are innate for newborns. Units of knowledge stored in their brains
at a neonatal stage, for example the sucking schema (Brain Mukherji, 2005) where no one had to teach
the infant how to feed from his mum, or his thumb (Freud accounts for this stage of development as
well, yet he does not class it as cognitive development but rather a stage in a child s psychosexual
development (Stone, 1991) it is worth noting that despite the disparity between the kind of
development, both theorists agreed on child development occurring in stages). Assimilation, therefore,
flows on naturally from schemas as this is the process by which a learned

Disadvantages Of Sexual Harassment
Think about having to be forced or coerced to demeaning and misappropriate conduct day in and out
because you fear losing your job or being demoted to a less desirable position. Focus on how many
victims of sexual harassment underwent calling out sick so that they would not have to be manipulated
into doing acts that were degrading and immoral with someone they believed they could trust, like
their supervisor. Moreover, walking into an atmosphere where work is not fun, but stressful and causes
you much anguish and dissatisfaction, only because you are having to undergo much discomfort and
shameful acts. Further, think about the thought of walking into your office everyday in anxiety and
fear because you need your job and want your job. However, but you did not ask for the unwelcome
sexual gestures, inappropriate touching, pressure to perform certain unlawful duties or be given
stipulations such as do as you are told and instructed or be terminated. All the more, this is what many
of the past case victims were accustomed to and subjected to each day while in the workplace.
Consequently, this is what many victims of sexual harassment endure each day because they are too
afraid to stand up and say anything to anyone because of fear of not being believed, afraid of losing
their jobs, or generally because they were not sure what could be done.
Even before sexual harassment and retaliation become widely known terms it was very much present
and prevalent in many organizations.

Dolphins are social animals, when in the wild they live in pods varying in sizes from 2 40 dolphins.
They develop a social hierarchy with either a head male or female to essentially lead the group. In

The American Dream In Ta-Nehisi Coates s Between The World...
In the United States of America, there are two primary beliefs that inform and support class ideology:
the American Dream and the belief that the U.S is a meritocracy. The two themes, the American
Dream and meritocracy, are used to understand inequalities and construct social worlds. The American
Dream is the U.S. s national ethos, when people think of this nation, they think the land of
opportunity. It is a uniquely American belief that does not acknowledge the role of life chances and
patterns of social barriers. Connected to the American Dream is a meritocracy, which supports that
success is linked to hard work and failure is caused by low determination and laziness. The author of
Between the World and Me, Ta Nehisi Coates, presents on the idea of the American Dream not being
truly all American in his letter to his son, Samori. Throughout the letter, Coates emphasized the
concept that the American Dream is a white Dream, not attainable by the black people; police brutality
against black people is a reflection of the will of this white American Dream.
Before addressing Coates truth about the American Dream, the idea of race needs to be discussed in
relation to the American Dream. Coates proclaims that Americans believe in the reality of race as a
defined, indubitable feature of the natural world. Racism the need to ascribe bone deep features to

then summing:
WACC = ke We + kd Wd
Where kd cost of debt ke cost of equity
Wd weight of debt Vd / (Vd + Ve )
We weight of equity Ve / (Vd + Ve )
Data for Tesco is:
Debt £4,509 million
Cost of debt 5.376%
Weight of debt 4,509 / (4,509 + 9 444) = 0.3231
Equity £9 444 million
Cost of equity 8.306%
Weight of equity 9 444 / (4,509 + 9 444) = 0.6768
WACC = 8.306% x 0.6768+5.376% x 0.3231
WACC = 7.4407%
Tesco s weighted average cost of capital is 7.44%, this means that if the company takes on an

The grand Valley Ava is one of the many American Viticulture Areas located in Colorado in the area of
Mesa County. It is in the area of Grand Junction and Palisadse and it is defined as being an
agricultural area that is served by many canals located in the Colorado River. The AVA of grand Valley
encompasses over 32,000 acres with a climate of high dessert that varies from time to time in
temperature from being either cold climate or hot climate. Wine Processing began in the area of grand
Valley as early as the 19th century. Most of the grape production is in the area grand Valley and many

Elie Wiesel s Experience In Night And Life Is Beautiful
Night Life is Beautiful There are many similarities and differences between Elie s experience in a
concentration camp and what Joshua experienced. Throughout the book and movie you were able to
take note of these comparisons and contrasts. For example, the age difference, their first impression of
the camps and overall, there main thought of the camps in the end.
Elie Wiesel was fifteen years old when he first arrived at a concentration camp. Joshua, though was
five to six years old. They both were sent away to a camp. Therefore, this shows how their
experiences with the camp are very different compared to the other. A similarity relating in how they
look at things was their first impression of the train. Both of the boys had no idea ... Show more

Elie needed to pass the tests given every so often to see who was fit to go on, and not be killed
because they were too weak to carry on. Joshua has continued to play the game and follow the rules
given out by his father. Stay hidden, do not ask for a snack, do not speak unless told to. These were a
few of the rules given out in order to receive points. Elie and his father were forced to move from
camp many times. Joshua and his father however, stayed in one place. Elie and his father also had a
great variety of jobs they had to do in order to receive food. Joshua did not work, his father did
though. The one, same job. A similarity though, was the friends involved during their time in the
camp. Both sons had friends and peers during either a short time. Joshua had the Jewish children in
the very beginning who he played with, until they took them away and he had to hide after. Elie had
work friends and companions he talked to. Many times they were either separated, killed or died. The
ending of both the movie and the book were similar in certain things. In both camps they were
liberated by the American soldiers. In the movie after they were liberated, the surviving prisoners has
to walk in a line to wherever safety was. In the book however, the prisoners were given provisions
immediately. When they ran out of them, the soldiers went back into the town and get more to help the
prisoners further. Near both the end of

Political Parties In California
Weak Parties, Strong Partisanship California is known for being a very liberal blue state. California is
almost guaranteed to vote democratically in a presidential election and much of the country considers
themselves democratic. The areas that are more conservative in California are also very adamant in
their beliefs. The two major political parties in California are extremely polarized and have extremely
high partisanship. The parties themselves however are extremely weak. The idea that parties can have
high levels of partisanship but be weak is extremely confusing. It has much to do with the way
California s politics have been established and the level of direct democracy in the state. Naturally,
political parties tend to be distinct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most local elections in California are nonpartisan. A nonpartisan election is an election in which the
parties of the candidates are not printed on the ballots. Although the candidates may identify with one
of the political parties, their preference is not shown on the ballot during the election. This causes
candidates to have to work harder for their votes and make their agendas known to the public rather
than relying on their political party to get them elected. In order for politicians to move up in the
political ladder, they must have contributed greatly to their local office and have a decent resume to
get them through. In a partisan election, candidates may be able to rely on his or her partisanship to
get them elected. For example in a largely democratic area, a candidate may simply be elected just
because his name is next to the word democrat on the ballot. This in turn strengthens the parties role
because that candidate would owe the party for his or her election. Since California holds nonpartisan
elections, candidates owe nothing to the party for their success during an election. They are able to
move up in politics based on the impact they had made during their previous role. Although a large
amount of the state offices has partisan elections, by the time a candidate has made it to a state
election they have made a name for themselves without relying on the party to speak for them.
Therefore, even

Connotation In Cry The Beloved Country
The author uses the word forlorn, used on page 35 of the book Cry, the Beloved Country in the
sentence About you there is grass and bracken and you may hear the forlorn crying of the Titihoya,
one of the birds of the veld. Below you is the valley of the Umzimkulu , instead of the word sorrowful
even though both mean unhappy because forlorn gives more of negative connotation and better
describes the setting. This is appropriate in this context because the village of Umzimkulu is put in a
state of abandonment and social instability. Residents are part of a conglomerate which pertains to
abuse and racial discrimination. This word effectively shows the message of prejudice shown by
Paton. The author uses the word deteriorate, used on page 179 of the book Cry, the Beloved Country
in the sentence But it was not permissible to watch its destruction, and to replace it by nothing, or by
so little, that a whole people deteriorates, physically and morally , instead of the word decline even
though both mean to become worse progressively. Paton uses this word because it gives a negative
connotation that is prevalent throughout the book. Deterioration is a good word to use to describe the
state of the tribal system within Umzimkulu. The social stability that is prevalent between residents of
Umzimkulu is falling apart or deteriorating. It shows that the South African social structure is falling
as a whole. The author uses the word voiceless, used on page 110 of the book Cry, the Beloved
Country in the sentence others say this is a danger, for better paid labour will not only buy more but
will also read more, think more, ask more, and will not be content to be forever voiceless and inferior ,
instead of the word silent even though they both mean not speaking. The author uses the word
voiceless because it describes the state of black South Africans during the time of racial prejudice and
apartheid. Paton uses this word to give a tone that blacks had no voice during the time. Like Kumalo
and Absalom, they are taken advantage of by whites and as a result, one is in a state of sorrow while
another has become promiscuous due to prejudice. The author uses the word disintegration, used on
page 178 of the book Cry, the

What Is An Indicator For System Generation And Consumption...
Grid frequency $f$ can be considered as an indicator for system generation and consumption power
balance, when an imbalance occurs the power system frequency will change accordingly.
One of the responsibility s of a transmission system operators is to operate the electric grid at a certain
system frequency which is the nominal grid frequency $f_{0}$, 50 Hz in Europe, where the torque is
continually adjusted to keep the system frequency at the nominal grid frequency. in equation (1)
Where $Tgen$ is the generated torque, $Tload$ is the consumed torque including grid losses torque
and $JSys$ is the total moments of inertia in the system representing the coupled synchronous
machines response in case of any power imbalance.

In the recent situation of the connected power grid for the ECSA, the amount of residual inertia
$J_{res}$ needed to prevent a blackout is decided by ROCOF limits regulations which is in our case
$delta f /delta t$=2 $Hz/s$, using related equations(1)(2) and by using an inertia constant similar to
that of already available biomass and hydro units which is between /1.5s 4s/ cite{hh}, we get a
maximum rated power in the magnitude of 20$GW$ which is to put in context Significantly lower
than the total installed hydro power capacity of 136 $GW$ in the EU 27, with an additional 62 $GW$
in Norway, Switzerland,
Turkey, Croatia and Iceland combined cite{hydro}, so it is clear that hydro along with other RES
such as biomass can generate the needed $J_{res}$ for the scenario discussed without calculating
existing synchronous generators inertia nor calculating the inertia generated from synchronous loads,
in other words even by the continuous decrease in synchronous generation inertia it won`t be expected
to not have enough inertia in the EU 27 power system to cover a blackout scenario in case of a single
fault with a load generation of 3 $GW$ in

Paul s Letter To The Corinthians
throughout his letter Paul did not fall offended, instead he focused on the comfort received from God
and that of the Corinthians as well. Personally, I assume this must have taken a toll on Paul. Again, he
fell afflicted with sickness. Paul was disgust with anxiety about the church of Thessalonica which he
was forced to abandon due to threats of looming persecution, and attacks fluctuating from previous
illnesses. Now approximately 56 A.D. Paul begins to write another (Epistle) letter to the Gentiles at
Corinth, Galatia, Rome and Thessalonica and a few others . He also was writing to Philemon,
Timothy, Titus, and the Saints at Rome. His utterly and unbearable illness reappeared, at Paul s, Third
Missionary Journey 53 57 A.D. Paul felt he had received the sentence of death. Being arrested,
imprisoned accused of violating the sanctity of the temple by bringing in Gentiles was only a few ...

But consciously and unconsciously under the direction of God who constantly directed his steps. Paul
provides to the church reassurance in God s word that He prepares the way by promise, discipline and
wrath suffering. As Christ remains the center of his faith. Paul thoughts of his experiences were more
theological meaning it began with and ends with God. Paul take a form of deliverance form suffering,
he pronounce his gift of divine power that enables one to endure by abiding circumstances. Paul
wanted to give the people, the church new and important information. He opens the second Epistle
with his usual greeting and thanksgiving. He tells of personal experiences in a way that gains the
attention of readers, of his troubles through which he had been passing. Through all of his trails he had
learned to lean of God more. He stressed that God becomes real to us in our times of sorrow. We find
that God never fails. Paul exemplifies God source of comfort to us, God says

  • 2. What Is The Cause Of The Hindenburg Disaster Hindenburg the end of the speedy luxury airlines. In 1937 as a Hindenburg s passenger you could fly from Europe to America in half the time it would take by ship. Not only that as a passenger you would be able traveled in luxurious interiors that would never again be seen in the air again, because of the 7 million cubic feet of hydrogen gas that ignited destroying not just the Hindenburg but also the use of blimps. [Design of the Hindenburg] The basic design of the Hindenburg was conventional, and based on time tested technology used by chief designer Ludwig Dürr and the Zeppelin Company for decades. The ship was built with triangular duralumin girders (bright blue from protective lacquer) forming 15 main rings, connecting 36 longitudinal girders, with a triangular keel at the bottom of the hull, an axial corridor at the ... The cause of the hydrogen leak is a sort of a mystery, but we know the ship experienced a significant leakage of hydrogen in the past before the disaster so it was probably not repaired correctly and returned because no evidence of sabotage was found, and no convincing theory of sabotaged has ever been proven. The simple truth is that Hindenburg was destroyed in 32 seconds because it was inflated with hydrogen. [The aftermath] Hindenburg left the town of Frankfurt with 97 people onboard of which 62 survived the crash at Lakehurst many of which suffered serious injuries. Thirteen of the 36 passengers, and 22 of the 61 crew, died because of the crash, along with a member of the civilian landing party. And the decision on who lived was a matter of luck as to where you were at in the ship, if you were deeper in it like in the sleeping quarters or the smoking lounge they did not ... • 3. Insect Preservation In Amber Insect preservation in Amber Tree resin has helped entomologist piece together the history of insects. First occurring during the Triassic, coniferous trees produced tremendous amounts of resin to protect against attack by pests and other parasites. The sticky sap like substance would trap organisms that came in contact and eventually engulf them. Over time, the tree resin fossilized and became amber, preserving the trapped life form inside. The encasing of the organism allowed for its preservation (Penny et al. 2013). Pieces of amber show a moment frozen in time and let entomologist witness ancient insects and give a screenshot of their behavior. After her eggs had hatched, she continued to carry her young in a brood chamber on the underside of her belly. The chamber is made by horizontal projection coming off her thoracic legs, and her young would have stayed there until they could fend for themselves (Boucot Poinar 2010). Today, isopods demonstrate the same maternal care, but without the preservation of amber, the similar behavior would not have been known. Money grasshoppers are another example of a similar behavior caught in amber. These specimens are among the rarest insects to be found in amber. This grasshopper is mobile in the treetop region of a forest but tends to rest in small patches of sunlight down in the shrub. When resting in the bushes, the grasshoppers cross their hind legs. This is a way for the grasshoppers to avoid predators. The hind legs resemble two crossing stems, allowing the grasshoppers to blend in amongst the shrubs. Some grasshoppers have been found preserved in this position (Poinar Poinar 1999). Grasshoppers have been using their hind legs for camouflage for millions of years. Which implies, the technique must help them avoid predation. Isopods continue to take care of their young and have yet to become extinct. These methods have been successful and will probably still be successful until something drastically and suddenly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He was respected greatly by Charles the Fifth. Christine was married at fifteen to Etienne du Castel. This was arranged, but they loved each other anyways. Etienne was a scholar, a nobleman, and the Duke of Guyenne. He was part of the French court, and supported Christine completely on her writing interests. Etienne and Christine had three children together, including Jean de Castel, who was born in 1384 and lived for eighty eight years. That is the only known child. One fateful day, Charles the fifth died, and Christine s father lost his job. Not long after, Tommaso got sick and finally died. • 7. Static Stretching Benefits Almost every athlete from amateur to professional stretches before exercise, and coaches and trainers have recommended static stretching as an essential part of a warm up routine for years. But why do we stretch? What do we gain from this routine? Stretching increases flexibility, but many people stretch specifically before exercise to gain additional benefits, mainly enhanced athletic performance, reduced muscle soreness, and injury prevention. However, research suggests that stretching does not provide these additional benefits in any significant amount. There is very little evidence that supports the claims people make about the benefits of stretching before exercise, but there is no evidence that it is harmful. It is simply overrated because it does not provide the benefits people think it does. Static stretching before exercise is unnecessary because it does not improve athletic performance, prevent muscle soreness or reduce the risk of injury. Although stretching improves flexibility, it does not improve most athletic performances. Activities such as gymnastics require extreme flexibility, but most sports and ... Dynamic stretches increase blood flow and move the muscles through their normal range of motion, preparing them for more intense exercises. The two stories prompt readers to reconsider certain aspects of life which one might have found to be quite one sided. Thomas More introduces us to an island called Utopia which serves as a model of perfection in each facet of everyday life. In The Symposium, Plato and his friends contribute distinctive interpretations on the origin and meaning of love. The Utopian agricultural sector is assumed to be extremely efficient and productive, this is proven as They export the surpluses to their neighbors (More, p. 93). Additionally, the mass participation in the country and on the farms benefit Utopia as well, as all town residents take turns working on the fields. Furthermore, Europe, along with many other Western societies, base their economy on capitalism. Capitalism is an economic system in which earning capital is prioritized and property is privately owned in order to maximize a profit for those specific owners. Utopia however, contends with the idea of capitalism as it emphasizes equality and shared profits for all. More reiterates this by stating that ...there is only one way to attain general well being, and this is equality in the distribution of goods. I doubt if such equality can ever be achieved where there is private property (More, p. 86). By discussing the lack of private property rights in Utopia, the author is critiquing the present day European society/economy by advertising the successes and perfection of Utopian society which lacks private property rights. In the Symposium by Plato, the idea of love is being challenged through the contrasting outlooks of love, which are given by Socrates and his friends. As the friends each share ... • 11. Transforming Information to Knowledge To begin with, it is necessary to consider the information life cycle, which consists in transforming information to knowledge and knowledge to information. When you find different types of data that is a random collection of facts in the outside world, later you give them some context and thereby this organized data is converted to information now. Then, this information with a value or a meaning, when it is interpreted is turned into knowledge. So it is transformed into information that you communicate and share with others and in this way, the same cycle starts. To sum up, information is random and miscellaneous and, conversely, knowledge is ordered and cumulative. Moreover, the cost and the value of information depend on the use of it. Information has its price, for example, the money paid to access Internet and its value, the relevance of it. What is more, this term describes the actual society where the creation and use of information is a significant technological, economic, occupational, spatial and cultural activity, or some combination of all of these. Moreover, it is important to know in what ways and why information is becoming more central today (Webster, 2006) that is leading to a new sort of society. • 14. Analysis Of Heather Havrilesky s No Sympathy For The Devil In the No Sympathy for the Devil Heather Havrilesky tells us how the appearance of the hero influences the attitude of the audience towards him. Havrilesky claims that: the likability of any given protagonist represents one of the most subjective assessments you can make about a TV show (465). I agree with his statement and my opinion can be explained with the help of the hero Damon from the TV show The Vampire Diaries. Damon is one of the most evil guys in the Vampire Diaries TV show, but sometimes he does good deeds. The main confirmation of my statement is two good Damon s action: he saves Caroline after a car accident and protects Elena from killing. The first way I will agree with Havrilesky is an example of how Damon saved Caroline after a car accident. Damon in the TV show The Vampire Diaries is shown by an evil handsome with an unpleasant temperament. In most cases, he does only bad things and takes care of himself, but sometimes he really surprises the audience by helping others and doing good deeds. One of the main examples of this behavior is when in the second season in the Brave New World series he saves Caroline after a car accident. Damon gives her his blood so that she will recover faster and feels better. Unfortunately, Caroline is killed and she becomes a vampire. After all the events, Caroline s mom finds out the truth, but even here Damon does not give in. He supports Caroline and tries to reconcile them with Mom. In the end, Caroline and Damon become friends. Thus, it becomes clear that even bad characters in a TV show can do good deeds. But in fact, if you think for a minute, each viewer is sick and sympathetic to Damon, despite all the bad things he does. Havrilesky says: For the past decade, TV has been awash with deeply flawed antiheroes: philandering ad men and pill popping nurses, meth cooking chemistry teachers and mob boss suburban dads. But when you launch a show that s centered on an unethical protagonist, how do you keep viewers engaged and invested in that character indefinitely or at least through six seasons? (465).The author says that a really negative hero forces viewers to follow him to the very end. Watching how his life develops. It s the bad characters that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When the noise of the gold rush flooded the world, immigrants started to see America more appetizing than ever. The Chinese saw America as a place to have a fresh start and as a place of refuge because of it s generosity, so they immigrated to the west in great numbers. There was a large Chinese population in Virginia and all along the Pacific coast. Writers Mark Twain and Maxine Hong Kingston both wrote in great detail about the Chinese Immigrants. They went into detail about the immigrants and how they came over and why. (Elton, 2010) adds that because academic writing may defer from discipline to discipline, instructors in schools have a duty to express their expectations of students writing while students on the other hand should act on it. Academic writing is logical The student s work needs to have a introduction, the body and the conclusion. The introduction gives a background to the topic and one could include interesting facts and quotations. It is important to outline the main ideas that are in the body. The student then discusses the main points in the body. This is done in paragraphs which should be well structured to give a coherent argument. The conclusion is the final paragraph and must briefly summarise every idea discussed in the body. Other s works Academic writing builds on what others have done on the same subject. A student therefore needs to base his work on his own ideas as well as what others have done and thought about, however, students should take care not to get lost in another scholar s voice but should instead incorporate the information so as to maintain the novelty of his argument. • 20. The Criminal Justice System And Psychology Essay I WANT TO BECOME A CRIMINAL PSYCHOLOGIST AND THIS IS WHAT I LEARNED Madelynn Krutsinger Introduction I m double majoring in Criminal Justice and Psychology because further down the road in my life I would love to be a Criminal Psychologist. I choose these fields because I love being able to understand why people do what they do. I want to understand why people do things a certain way, just looking at it in a psychological kind of way. Especially with criminals, what led them to murder that guy or rape that girl? What pursued them and what part of them thought that it would be acceptable? I really enjoy the concepts of the criminal justice system and how it works. I grew up in a family that revolved around emergency units, ranging from EMTS, AEMTS, Prison Guards, Nurses, Police Officers and so forth. Being around that at the time gave me a love for the field. Understanding the codes, the high pace calls, honestly, even the hours. I fell in love with the idea of being able to make a difference in people s lives, and for example, if I was going to be a police officer that is what I would do. It has been a family tradition for dads to take their sons into the woods, and teach them the ways of stalking your prey, and finally killing it. On my eighth birthday, I woke up to my dad dressed in a camouflage top holding onto a bow and arrow and a massive white target standing at his feet. His first words were we are going to have fun today . I instantly thought that that day I was going to be killing my first animal, but to my dismay, it turned out that blood was not shed for three years. I loved that bow and arrow, and I can remember everyday after school I would go to the garage and shoot that bow to the point where I couldn t manage to draw it back. After about month, I had lost hope in killing anything with that bow because I was not able to shoot it straight. There was a time that I was shooting in the garage at a target, and the arrow slipped out of my hand, and it had managed to hit a bottle of lighter fluid. Granted I there was not enough force behind the arrow to push it the entire way through the can, but it was enough to spill the lighter fluid all over my foam target. I was no longer to use my bow and arrow unsupervised. Years later, my dad decided to take me to the gun range. He had brought the gun that his father had taught him how to shoot ... • 43. Elie Wiesel s Experience In Night And Life Is Beautiful Night Life is Beautiful There are many similarities and differences between Elie s experience in a concentration camp and what Joshua experienced. Throughout the book and movie you were able to take note of these comparisons and contrasts. For example, the age difference, their first impression of the camps and overall, there main thought of the camps in the end. Elie Wiesel was fifteen years old when he first arrived at a concentration camp. Joshua, though was five to six years old. They both were sent away to a camp. Therefore, this shows how their experiences with the camp are very different compared to the other. A similarity relating in how they look at things was their first impression of the train. Joshua has continued to play the game and follow the rules given out by his father. Stay hidden, do not ask for a snack, do not speak unless told to. These were a few of the rules given out in order to receive points. Elie and his father were forced to move from camp many times. Joshua and his father however, stayed in one place. Elie and his father also had a great variety of jobs they had to do in order to receive food. Joshua did not work, his father did though. The one, same job. A similarity though, was the friends involved during their time in the camp. Both sons had friends and peers during either a short time. Joshua had the Jewish children in the very beginning who he played with, until they took them away and he had to hide after. Elie had work friends and companions he talked to. Many times they were either separated, killed or died. The ending of both the movie and the book were similar in certain things. In both camps they were liberated by the American soldiers. In the movie after they were liberated, the surviving prisoners has to walk in a line to wherever safety was. In the book however, the prisoners were given provisions immediately. • 44. Political Parties In California Weak Parties, Strong Partisanship California is known for being a very liberal blue state. California is almost guaranteed to vote democratically in a presidential election and much of the country considers themselves democratic. The areas that are more conservative in California are also very adamant in their beliefs. The two major political parties in California are extremely polarized and have extremely high partisanship. The parties themselves however are extremely weak. The idea that parties can have high levels of partisanship but be weak is extremely confusing. It has much to do with the way California s politics have been established and the level of direct democracy in the state. Naturally, political parties tend to be distinct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most local elections in California are nonpartisan. A nonpartisan election is an election in which the parties of the candidates are not printed on the ballots. Although the candidates may identify with one of the political parties, their preference is not shown on the ballot during the election. This causes candidates to have to work harder for their votes and make their agendas known to the public rather than relying on their political party to get them elected. In order for politicians to move up in the political ladder, they must have contributed greatly to their local office and have a decent resume to get them through. In a partisan election, candidates may be able to rely on his or her partisanship to get them elected. For example in a largely democratic area, a candidate may simply be elected just because his name is next to the word democrat on the ballot. This in turn strengthens the parties role because that candidate would owe the party for his or her election. Since California holds nonpartisan elections, candidates owe nothing to the party for their success during an election. They are able to move up in politics based on the impact they had made during their previous role. Although a large amount of the state offices has partisan elections, by the time a candidate has made it to a state election they have made a name for themselves without relying on the party to speak for them. • 45. Connotation In Cry The Beloved Country The author uses the word forlorn, used on page 35 of the book Cry, the Beloved Country in the sentence About you there is grass and bracken and you may hear the forlorn crying of the Titihoya, one of the birds of the veld. Below you is the valley of the Umzimkulu , instead of the word sorrowful even though both mean unhappy because forlorn gives more of negative connotation and better describes the setting. This is appropriate in this context because the village of Umzimkulu is put in a state of abandonment and social instability. Residents are part of a conglomerate which pertains to abuse and racial discrimination. This word effectively shows the message of prejudice shown by Paton. The author uses the word deteriorate, used on page 179 of the book Cry, the Beloved Country in the sentence But it was not permissible to watch its destruction, and to replace it by nothing, or by so little, that a whole people deteriorates, physically and morally , instead of the word decline even though both mean to become worse progressively. Paton uses this word because it gives a negative connotation that is prevalent throughout the book. Deterioration is a good word to use to describe the state of the tribal system within Umzimkulu. The social stability that is prevalent between residents of Umzimkulu is falling apart or deteriorating. It shows that the South African social structure is falling as a whole. The author uses the word voiceless, used on page 110 of the book Cry, the Beloved Country in the sentence others say this is a danger, for better paid labour will not only buy more but will also read more, think more, ask more, and will not be content to be forever voiceless and inferior , instead of the word silent even though they both mean not speaking. The author uses the word voiceless because it describes the state of black South Africans during the time of racial prejudice and apartheid. Paton uses this word to give a tone that blacks had no voice during the time. Like Kumalo and Absalom, they are taken advantage of by whites and as a result, one is in a state of sorrow while another has become promiscuous due to prejudice. • 46. What Is An Indicator For System Generation And Consumption... Grid frequency $f$ can be considered as an indicator for system generation and consumption power balance, when an imbalance occurs the power system frequency will change accordingly. One of the responsibility s of a transmission system operators is to operate the electric grid at a certain system frequency which is the nominal grid frequency $f_{0}$, 50 Hz in Europe, where the torque is continually adjusted to keep the system frequency at the nominal grid frequency. in equation (1) Where $Tgen$ is the generated torque, $Tload$ is the consumed torque including grid losses torque and $JSys$ is the total moments of inertia in the system representing the coupled synchronous machines response in case of any power imbalance. $delta omega ... In the recent situation of the connected power grid for the ECSA, the amount of residual inertia $J_{res}$ needed to prevent a blackout is decided by ROCOF limits regulations which is in our case $delta f /delta t$=2 $Hz/s$, using related equations(1)(2) and by using an inertia constant similar to that of already available biomass and hydro units which is between /1.5s 4s/ cite{hh}, we get a maximum rated power in the magnitude of 20$GW$ which is to put in context Significantly lower than the total installed hydro power capacity of 136 $GW$ in the EU 27, with an additional 62 $GW$ in Norway, Switzerland, Turkey, Croatia and Iceland combined cite{hydro}, so it is clear that hydro along with other RES such as biomass can generate the needed $J_{res}$ for the scenario discussed without calculating existing synchronous generators inertia nor calculating the inertia generated from synchronous loads, in other words even by the continuous decrease in synchronous generation inertia it won`t be expected to not have enough inertia in the EU 27 power system to cover a blackout scenario in case of a single fault with a load generation of 3 $GW$ in ...
