The European Integration On Different Aspects And Levels...
Historically, attempts at unifying Europe can be traced back as far as 1464 when, after the fall of
Constantinople, King George of Podrebady suggested that a league of Christian Nations should be
formed (Wen, 2013). However, it was only after 1945 that the process for European integration, a
process whereby sovereign states partially relinquish, or pool, national sovereignty to maximize their
relative power and interest began (Kenealy et al., 2015). The theorization European integration started
within the political subfield of International Relations (Pollack, 2001). However, the European Union
is a complex and unique international organization. Are International Relations (IR) theories able to
account for the origin, development and future of European integration?
We will argue in this essay that IR theories account for European integration on different aspects and
levels. Although Realism offers an interesting interpretation for the genesis of integration, European
Integration is better explained through Liberalism. Howbeit, the shortcomings in their assumptions
lead us to the thought that Constructivism gives a deeper account for European integration.
Realism is one of the prevailing IR theories. Still, in the context of European integration, it has
struggled to tie in its assumptions with what caused integration and how cooperation has developed.
However, several thinkers have given a realist account of European integration. Integration is an
exceptional event

Roman Law During The Enlightenment Era
Roman Law
Justice has been misperceived to go hand and hand with rules in which a society must conform to,
mostly in due part to the enlightenment era. In the case with the Romans, the laws they established,
especially early on, dealing with the spread of Christianity has been interpreted with a sense of disgust
for the unfair treatment targeted towards Christians, and later on to those of other faiths. However, I
argue that, Roman law, when concerning religion, was used to strengthen the identity of what it meant
to be Roman. Furthermore, as Rome, the political institution, was beginning to decay, as an act of
acclamation, the formulation of Roman Laws allowed Christianity to be a main means of connection
to what it meant to identify as Roman. Utilizing various primary sources, it is evident that faith had
been gradually accepted as the dominant form of unity and law, beginning with Emperor Diocletian to
Emperor Theodosia, even among emperors, the Catholic faith had shown that all men were under God,
and under God they were all Roman.
Roman law had first concerned itself with the spread of the Christian faith under the rule of Emperor
Diocletian. Becoming the victor of a civil war, Diocletian had acquired the right to rule. Through his
reign, it was evident that Diocletian had wanted to enforce his political strength, by imposing various
methods to his empire, with varying degrees of success. Reorganizing the state by means of repairing
infrastructure, creations of

Economic Sanctions Advantages And Disadvantages
Economic Sanctions are a way of punishing errant countries which is more acceptable than bombing
or invading them. It s a way to sway the target government to change a policy. Some Sanctions include
limiting export or import trade and preventing transfers of money involving citizens or the
government of the target. Sanctions can be multilateral with many countries acting together or
unilateral when one country takes action on its own. Between 1914 and 1990 there were 116 sanctions
that were imposed on countries and ⅔ of these failed to achieve their stated goals. The cost of the
country imposing the sanctions can be very large, particularly when the country is acting unilaterally.
It is estimated that in 1995 imposing sanctions on other countries cost the American economy over 15
billion dollars in lost exports and 200 thousand in lost jobs in export industries. (Evidence on the
Costs and Benefits of Economic Sanctions) Trade Sanctions are a lot more effective with more
sanctioners but is harder to keep everyone together. Think about this in terms of basic economics 101.
This says that when demand falls, then prices fall as well. One example is Iranian oil. The West is
trying to change Iranian nuclear behavior by imposing sanctions on this country and restricting the oil
trade from Iran. If there s a bunch of countries no longer buying Iranian oil then the price of Iranian oil
will go down. Since no one is buying their oil then the demand is going down and less people will

Introduction
Change is not always easy to come by. Sometimes change causes a good thing to go bad, while at
other times it can cause bad things to improve. Businesses have to be ready for change management at
any juncture within their life cycle if they expect to have longevity within the industries that they
operate. However, these changes can only be overcome through positive direction from leaders within
the company and through that organization s infrastructure maintaining similar mindsets throughout
its makeup. Change can carry with it a multiplicity of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Comparison and Contrast
Although these three companies operate in three unrelated industries, mail delivery services,
education, and transportation, these companies reflect that work team effectiveness is topic worthy of
consideration amongst any industry. Furthermore, these three companies convey the same principles
throughout the scope of work team effectiveness. These companies believe that clear communication
across their company s structure creates an environment in which every employee and client can
understand the directions of the company. They maintain the optimal levels of communication through
training their employees as the company or industry standards evolve; then they convey this
knowledge to their clientele. To clarify these concepts of clear communication and training observe
some specific actions of each of these companies as they foster effective team atmospheres within
their organizations.
Leapfrog s leadership teams come together to ponder, network, and conduct open minded discussions

Amish Demographic Report
Descriptive epidemiology focus on how a disease is spread within a population. This can be done in
three different approaches such as counts, case series, and cross sectional studies. The observation of
the Amish population in Lancaster, PA favors the application of the cross sectional method of
descriptive epidemiology.
Analyzing the population health in the Amish group requires some understanding of the Amish people.
It is a special population where their perspectives on health is shaped by their religious beliefs and
cultures. The Amish settled in four counties in Pennsylvania with an estimate of 44, 106 people were
approximately 35,000 reside in Lancaster county. Their beliefs and values rooted from the bible which
resulted in living a life of self surrender, submission, yielding to the will of God and to others,
contentment, and a calm spirit . To date the Amish don t use electricity, don t own a personal car, don t
use public transportation except for major reason. Formal education stops at eight grade; very few
Amish, have a high school diploma, or a college degree. Consequently, most of the them live below
the poverty level. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Amish is less likely to seek medical attention for minor issues. As noted in The Amish Study web
page the Amish society accepts responsibility for their own actions and chooses not to depend on
services offered by the state. For example, Amish communities opt out of the government funded
insurance, including the Affordable Care Act. This Act allows employees of large companies to
acquire health insurance and allows insurance options for low income individuals and families. As a
result, this society thrives on helping each other and sharing each other s burdens. To assist one
another, they willingly offer donations when a member of their community becomes ill. When illness
arises, persons often tend to postpone seeking treatment until the last

The Importance Of Risk Management Strategy
This style also strongly influences our proposed approach for the platform support with IA/AA
activities. Whether we are supporting the submission of a Risk Management Framework (RMF)
package, assisting in the creation of policy, building AA documentation, analyzing vulnerability
findings, or supporting tracking activities such as workforce IA training or Federal Information
Security Management Act (FISMA), our focus is on the best practice methods to enhance the overall
organizational security culture and posture. This translates differently per each individual goal;
however, a key tenant is clear communication of expectations and making technical communications

Our team is well versed in both DIACAP and RMF, and the interaction with Committee on National
Security Systems Instruction (CNSSI) 1253 to support FISMA compliance within the DoD. A final
key component to our approach leverages our heritage in software development. Across our project
teams, we have created scripts and custom applications that automate the testing gaps left by IA tools,
such as ACAS, in demonstrating compliance against applicable STIG s, DODI 8500.2 or National
Institute of Standards and Technologies (NIST) SP 800 53 policy. The results are included with the
test results as an artifact for the accreditation authorities and agents, providing for regression testing
and historical progress purposes. Additionally, we have a custom built tool for testing result
aggregation, digestion, and presentation. The custom tool creates an interactive POA M and finding
aggregation presentation, which greatly enhances the ability of analysts in examining data, applying
false positive information and exceptions across large data sets, and provides custom reporting for all
stakeholders. This tool is typically customized for the specific customers as part of the effort;
however, the team is fully capable of using customer preferred products as required.

Alice s Wonderland, Through The Looking Glass And The...
Alice s Adventures in Wonderland, Through the Looking Glass and The Wizard of Oz are fictional
stories about the coming of age. Children relate to these stories and admire both Alice and Dorothy. In
what can be assumed are Alice s and Dorothy s dreams, we see various anthropomorphic creatures and
animals. There imaginary worlds lead both girls to face situations in which they must think maturely
and at the same time lose a bit of their innocence, similar to when a young child takes their first step in
becoming their own mature and independent person. When both girls admit for the first time they
were not who they were when they first entered their dreams, they took their first step into a new
world of decision making and maturity. Alice and Dorothy mature throughout the story and leaving
behind the dependence and innocence every person once had. Both girls are coming to the age of
independence. Throughout Alice s and Dorothy s journey in wonderland it can be seen that each girl
loses the air of innocence they had at the beginning of the story. The stories, Alice s Adventures in
Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll and The Wizard of Oz film directed by
Victor Fleming, all represent a coming of age story where a young girl must go on a journey, let go of
her childishness, and mature and face her fears in order to find their way home.
Distinguishing what is a dream and what is reality can be difficult. Most times it is obvious that a
dream is only a dream.

Crito And Socrates
The story of Crito relates the last days of Socrates and was written by Plato. When Crito arrived to see
Socrates he found him sleeping quietly and in peace, which was unusual for someone who is waiting
for executing. Apparently, Socrates and Crito has a good friendship because Crito offered Socrates the
opportunity to scape and for this, Crito offered to pay the money for Socrates escape. Socrates,
immediately started to do what he does best, which is using his philosophical talents by asking
questions and providing answers to Crito. One of the questions that Socrates formulated to Crito was
if one person should do the wrong thing. And Crito replied to Socrates that they should do no wrong to
anyone. Also, Socrates asked Crito the question that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Socrates mentions that no one should do nothing bad to another person, but the whole jury did wrong
to Socrates by send him to death. I think Crito should had said that the city was not worth to die for
because most people were cruel and had no feeling towards Socrates. The other important aspect to
analyze was the agreements that Socrates wanted to keep, which was his sentence to death. I will say
that the promises in some rare cases can be brake. For instance, I can promise love forever to my
partner but it doesn t mean that this will last forever, sometimes the love ends or it can broke by
infidelity. The respect that Socrates has for his country was very the most important aspect in his
conversation with Crito. I will say that Socrates did all he could for his country, he even fought the
wars for his country, and still his country didn t care for him and sentenced him to death. A country is

Benefits Of Being Active Older Adults
A. Watt (personal communication, August, 7, 2015) commented that out of all the members at the gym
she works at, only 7% of them fit into older population category. Based on this statement, I think the
amount of physically active older adults needs to increase dramatically. It is important to promote and
support physical activity for the older population try and raise the amount of physically active older
adults. Physical activity is defined as any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles that require
energy expenditure . (World Health Organisation, 2015, para. 1). I believe it is important for the older
population to be physically active because there are so many benefits which come from it. Some of the
many benefits include reduced risk of getting diseases, prevention of obesity, better quality of life,
reduced muscle shrinkage, increased energy and improved moods. (Berger, Cardina, Tobar Zi, 2015,
p. 43). The benefits which I believe are most beneficial to the older population are having reduced
disease risk, a better quality of life and improved mood. Supporting and encouraging the older
population to participate in physical activity is crucial, especially since starting becoming active and
doing something you have never done before can be off putting and make you think twice before
taking part. I believe the 3 most important steps that need to be taken in order to support and promote
physical activity are informing the older adults on the exercise benefits,

The Meaning Of July Fourth For The Negro By Frederick...
What comes to mind when you think of the Fourth of July? Most people think of positive words such
as freedom and independence (maybe even fireworks and cookouts). Unfortunately, if a slave in the
1850s was asked this same question, this person would most likely not think of such pleasant words.
Slaves did not think of this day as a celebration and instead were saddened by the fact they did not
have the freedom that the white people in America did. One of these people is Frederick Douglass,
who was born a slave and remained a slave for twenty years before escaping from the oppression he
faced. When he arrived in the North, which was where a slave could be free, he became a great writer
and speaker, and he told many about the cruelty of slavery. One of his famous speeches, called The
Meaning of July Fourth for the Negro, was given on July 5, 1852, in Rochester, New York, at an event
in the Corinthian Hall. The purpose of the event was to celebrate America s signing of the Declaration
of Independence, 76 years before. However, this was not the purpose of Douglass s speech. He instead
used this opportunity to tell the perspective of slaves on this day. Frederick Douglass hopes to inspire
his audience to see how and why the celebration of a country that allows such an immoral practice to
occur is inappropriate, and why he will instead be mourning on this holiday. In establishing this idea,
Douglass incorporates rhetorical devices that hit all three points of the rhetorical

Swot Analysis For Wells Fargo
Situation Analysis
In this first section of the Social Media Plan for Wells Fargo, it will discuss the internal and external
environments of the company, this will also include a SWOT analysis. Following this analysis, the
corporate objectives for social media will be discussed as well as the target market analysis.
Internal Environment Since 1852, when Henry Wells and William Fargo founded the company, it has
always had the main focus on its customers. Originally, the idea set aside this financial institution
from the rest was the determination with the Pony Express and the classic stagecoaches to allow
express banking. Wells Fargo earned a reputation of trust by dealing rapidly and responsibly with
people s money (Wells Fargo, 2017). The bank began to grow rapidly throughout the years and took
on the motto Ocean to Ocean , it was a this time the stagecoaches began traveling miles and miles in
order to deliver their customers banking needs in a timely manner. However, by the time the Great
Depression hit, the bank unfortunately lost all their business and resorted back to their original
stomping grounds in San Francisco. It wasn t until during this time, the Wells Fargo stagecoach
became a symbolic icon in the Hollywood western films. By taking on this credibility in the films, it
provided a leverage for the company to come back and take back their Ocean to Ocean title. New
banking concepts not only changed where people banked, but how they banked. Drive up tellers,

It is a natural tendency for people to assume that they are smarter than people that are younger than
they are. It is widely thought that with age, comes more knowledge, and a better understanding of the
world. However, this thinking can t be used as a broad statement for entire generations of people.
While there certainly are older people that are much wiser than younger people, this fact doesn t mean
that younger generations as a whole are dumb. With the knowledge and discoveries made by previous
generations at the disposal of younger generation s, the young people of today are smarter than ever.

People claim that new developments have caused kids to be so dependent on their devices, that they
can t think for themselves. This claim can also be turned around by saying that technology has given
kids more opportunities and chances to learn, and in particular, more opportunities to write (Source 7,
Clive Thompson). An example of this is a study done at Stanford University, where it was discovered
that Stanford students did a stunning 38 percent of their writing outside of the classroom (Source 7,
Clive Thompson). With the developments of E mail, texting, and social media such as Twitter,
Facebook, and Instagram, younger people are constantly writing in their every day lives. In the past,
people would, for the most part, stop writing once the finishes their education. Now however, people
are more comfortable, and more used to, writing. And while the argument that technology has

writing shown by young people has led to a greater ability to convey information to other people, and
a greater comfort in talking to people they don t know (Source 7, Clive Thompson). As Andrea

A Brief Note On Robert Moses, Richard Ravitch And Othmar...
Throughout the course of history there have been many advances in the world of infrastructure, mostly
occurring in the 1800 s and the 1900 s. Infrastructure is defined as the basic physical and
organizational structure needed for the operation of a society or enterprise, or the services and
facilities necessary for an economy to function. This definition shows how important infrastructure is
to people s lives today. It affects how people live, travel, and communicate with one another. Three
men who made huge contributions in the world of infrastructure were Robert Moses, Richard Ravitch
and Othmar Hermann Ammann. All three of these men were involved in designing numerous
landmarks, highways, bridges, tunnels, and other forms of infrastructure that today we take for
granted. Although all of these men were involved in infrastructure in the New York metropolitan area,
their contributions, personalities, and the public s opinion of them were all different. Robert Moses
was born in New Haven Connecticut. He is considered the master builder of New York City, Long
Island, Rockland county, and Westchester county of the mid 1900 s. After graduating from Yale and
earning a Ph.D. in political science from Columbia, Robert Moses became attracted to New York City
reform politics. Moses caught the notice of Belle Moskowitz, an advisor to Al Smith. Moses rose to
power with Al Smith, who became governor of New York in 1922. Robert Moses was in charge in the

What Are The Disadvantages Of A Subscription Market
Strategic Issue Article Subscription boxes are one of the fastest growing trends in the business and
startup world. The concept is that a customer signs up for monthly home deliveries of items that they
desire. Companies finding success with this strategy include Fabletics and Gentleman s Box. With the
growing interest consumers have for convenience, it makes sense that home delivered goods would be
so popular among consumers. The growth of this industry can be expected to continue to grow for
many reasons, but most likely because of the low barriers to entry. However, the issue is how is this
growing trend impacting retail stores like Banana Republic and Macey s. Pros: These subscription
based companies are quickly taking over the retail market. The biggest pro for the consumer to a
subscription based clothing service is convenience. These clothing subscription services generally
entail clothes picked for you by a stylist in your selected size, which are sent directly to your door
every month. The consumer is able to try on the items in the comfort of their own home. If they don t
like it, they have the option to send it back. However, if they do like it, then their monthly subscription
cost goes towards any items they decide to keep. If the cost of what they keep is greater than the
subscription service, they charge the consumer s card for the remaining clothes, typically at a
discounted price. On the business side there are a few major upsides to retail based

Germans all along, realizing that he had to become popular, he heavily abused his power. He began his
plan with baby steps, starting by getting the people on his side, and keeping them there. He
successfully accomplished this by referring to them as comrades and fellow German folk , this
boosted national pride for the losers of World War I. The German people never feared Hitler they
loved him like a brother or father. Even when they knew people were being killed, simply because
they were mentally ill or for some other imperfection, the people were too blind to believe that hitler
was behind it.
Hitler was bound and determined to start a second world war. He wanted to show the world germany s
superiority, he wanted to develop the ultimate race on earth, pure german. He would achieve this by

Educational Philosophy of John Dewey Essay
The Educational Philosophy of John Dewey John Dewey is known as leader of the progressive
movement in the history of the American education system and his book, Democracy and Education:
an introduction to the philosophy of education, could be used as a textbook to teach the foundations of
the movement. Discrediting all previous educational and philosophic approaches as intellectually
incomplete or inaccurate, Dewey first presents a new perspective on the nature of knowledge,
education, society and philosophy. One fundamental theme of Dewey s progressive movement is that
education is growth and that growth is, in and of itself, the objective. Rejecting any notion of innate
knowledge or of an ideal goal to strive for, the progressive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Societies can be, by definition, small associations of like minded individuals with narrow aims or
large nations with broad, diverse aims. Dewey offers two standards which can be applied to assess the
value of a society: How numerous and varied are the interests which are consciously shared? How full
and free is the interplay with other forms of association? By applying these two questions, the natural
conclusion of the ideal society is democratic, that is to say one that offers its citizens the freedom of
expression and communication. If a democracy represents an ideal society that presents the maximum
number of common interests and the maximum opportunities for association with other societies, then
it also represents the ideal society in its potential for growth. Any society with a near limitless
potential for growth must redefine the concept of knowledge in order to gain efficiencies in its
education system. Previous attempts at defining knowledge were flawed, in the mind of the
Progressivist, by directly stating or implying a division or duality that presents a barrier to free
intercourse of ideas. Examples of these dualities are that of different classes within a society such as
rich vs poor, noble vs lower class, ruler vs ruled or that of the physical vs metaphysical worlds. Any
duality serves to separate knowledge from action, a continuity which is proclaimed as ideal. Any piece

The Four Types Of Welding Career
Welding
Most of the dangers in welding are related to the wielder. Others are due to the environment that they
have to go to. In welding, most people can do most all things people would want to do. The four main
types of welding are Shielded Metal Arc Welding (The stick or SMAW), Metal Inert Gas welding
(Mig or GMAW), Oxyfuel Gas Welding (Oxyfuel or OFW) and Tungsten Inert Gas welding (Tig).
Welding is also a great career path because it pays well. The only drawback to it is that the wielder
will have to travel. In welding, there are three main careers they can go into. There are structural, pipe,
and Tig welding. Welding has a lot of big names. Lincoln and Miller are two of the biggest welding
companies in the world. Even though welding is a dangerous job, welding is a good career because
there are many different things people can do in a welding career and many types of jobs in a welding
career.
There are a lot of dangers in welding. Some of the dangers are ergonomic, electric shock, ultraviolet
light, toxic fumes and gases, heat, and noise. Ergonomic is a danger because the work environment the
wielder never knows where the wielder will be working. The work conditions can range from really
cold to really hot. In the workplace the wielder could be welding anywhere from the top of
skyscrapers to the bottom of the oceans. The ultraviolet light in welding is harmful because it is like
the radiation from the sun and it can damage the wielder s skin. The ultraviolet light is

the organizers of the games by sarcastically repeating the infamous Hunger Games slogan. Again
satire can be seen when Katniss and Peeta s love during the games forces a shift in the rules of the
games and allowed two winners versus one. When the new rules of the games got reversed, Katniss

nominee Jennifer Lawrence plays Katniss. She has established herself as one of Hollywood s most
promising young actresses. She has also had roles in other films such as Like Crazy , Silver Lining s

History of the Traditional School Calendar Essay
History of the Traditional School Calendar
The American educational system is based on the traditional, nine month school calendar, which has
been in place for over a century. Originally, the United States was an agrarian society. The majority of
Americans lived on farms. People made most of the items that they needed, and with little trade
necessary, there was no need for schooling (McLain, 1973). However, as people branched out into
neighboring areas, they needed to learn new skills, such as basic arithmetic to price items, measure
land, and more (McLain, 1973). As a result, it became the responsibility of those who were less
needed on the farm or in the factory to acquire knowledge for the family (McLain, 1973).

The first year round school was established in 1904 in Bluffton, Indiana (Glines, 2002). Year round
education is described as a calendar modification that requires students to begin school earlier and end
later than normal, with the lost summer vacation redistributed in blocks throughout the year (Glines,
2002, 2698). It is important to note that year round schools have the same number of days in a
calendar year as does the traditional school year. However, the days are distributed throughout the
year. Year round schools differ from traditional schools in a variety of ways.
Single Track Calendar
In order to accommodate the year round calendar, there are several forms of year round education. The
first form follows a single track calendar. This is the most popular type of calendar (Shields, 2000). A
single track year is usually implemented to provide a more balanced and enriched education program
or to accommodate the special scheduling needs of a community (Glines, 2002, 2699). A single track
calendar takes on a 45/15 design. This is where students go to school for forty five days in a row, and
then have a fifteen day break. It is a continuous cycle. Schools usually begin in early August, and
follow this pattern four times to complete the school year (Glines, 2002). The three week break in
between is called an intersession. During this time, students can choose to take additional educational
courses through remedial,

All good things must come to an end , said Tara, those were the last words of the book she just
finished reading. This book was some adventure fiction novel about hero s trip to Egypt and his
mysterious adventures in the Great Pyramid of Giza, on the banks of Nile River. Tara was just about to
close the book and go to bed, for it was almost midnight, but at the very moment when the girl
touched the cover of the book the most unpredictable thing happened. Weird, greenish mist appeared,
seems, out of thin air. It was surrounding Tara, getting denser and denser with every passing second.
Finally, the mist enveloped Tara and became that dense that the girl could see nothing but the solid
green mass of something around her. Tara didn t know ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

torches illuminating orange light, yellow walls, hieroglyphs painted on them depicting their own story,
pictures of gods on the front wall, and a tall figure, covered in bandages from head to feet hovering
over Tara. A mummy , Tara murmured as silently as possible, but that s impossible to happen . But the
thing was it was possible. She was just staring at the four thousand years old dead body of a pharaoh,
the representer of God on earth. Then, the mummy started to outstretch its arms, trying to grab her.
Tara did not scream, nor she stepped aside she was as if in a kind of a trance. And suddenly, Awake
you, silly girl! Do whatever is possible to save your life! Do it right away! Don t you hesitate! that was
her own voice thundering inside her own head. Without wasting her time, Tara ran to the object she
saw when she was looking over the chamber the only object that was in here a slightly rust old
Egyptian sword. At first she wondered why the mummy didn t run after her, but dragged inch by inch
to reach her, but then she realised that when you re a pharaoh dead for four thousand years it s difficult

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Newcomers In Norrköping
THE STRUGGLES OF LGBTQ+ NEWCOMERS IN NORRKÖPING: CAUGHT UP IN PSEUDO
MODERNITY
According to The Swedish Migration Board (Migrationsverket), in 2016, Norrköping was the biggest
receiver of asylum seekers in the county of Östergötland. Statistics and figures in themselves can be
perceived as intimidating and heavy, and viewing newcomers as a single large group can be scary.
However, people are from all walks of life, no different from you and I. Ignorance only breeds fear
and hate, but curiosity brings understanding and awareness. For that reason and because their specific
experiences hinge on the intersection of being both LGBTQ+ and a newcomer, this article focuses on
queer newcomers in Norrköping. In collaboration with RFSL, Norrköping Pride and the Swedish
Migration Board, several interviews were conducted with both newcomers and people working with
them. Sweden has an international reputation for being progressive and modern in LGBTQ+ issues,
and Swedes are usually quick to pat themselves on the back for their modern ways. ... Show more

Under the law, minorities, regardless of their sexual orientation/gender identity as well as their ethnic
background, are given substantial protection from discrimination and violence. The contact with the
Swedish Migration Board can become problematic as they demand proof of sexual identity if the
newcomer is also seeking asylum on security aspects linked to them being queer. Still, LGBTQ+
newcomers usually cannot be fully open with their sexual identities in their countries of origin as it is
often considered a criminal offense. To then expect a newcomer to be openly queer from first contact
is a high demand that many cannot meet primarily due to feelings of shame. The lack of trust can lead
them to apply as non LGBTQ+. Our interviewees testify to feeling questioned and not fully trusted in
the contact with the Migration

Cubism Art
Structural Frame A. Investigate the two main phases of cubism: Analytical and Synthetic After 1909,
Picasso and Braque began a more systematic study of structure, which we know as Analytical Cubism
. In this period, they removed bright colors from their compositions, favouring monochromatic earth
tones so that they could focus on the structure. The paintings of this period look as if they have
deconstructed objects and rearranged them on the canvas. One goal of this is to depict different
viewpoints all at once. After the artists had grown tired of the Analytical period, they began to develop
what is known as the Synthetic period. Picasso and Braque continue to introduce new and
controversial changes with the introduction of collaged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within his complexity came out a brilliant artist that was widely considered the most influential
painter of the 20th century. Pollock began to study painting in 1929 at the Art Students League, in
New York, under the Regionalist painter Thomas Hart Benton. During the 1930s he was being
influenced also by the Mexican muralist painters and by certain aspects of Surrealism. By the mid
1940s he was painting in a completely abstract manner, and the `drip and splash style for which he is
best known emerged with some abruptness in 1947. Instead of using the traditional easel he moved his
canvas to the floor and poured and dripped his paint from a can; instead of using brushes he
manipulated it with `sticks, trowels or knives sometimes he would use a mixture of `sand, broken
glass or other foreign matter . This manner of Action painting was common with Surrealist theories of
automatism. Clement Greenberg emerged on the American art scene at a time when it was still
relatively small and critics belonged to the insular world of the artists themselves. Among them was an
obscure painter named Jackson Pollock, who was earning very little money. Clement Greenberg, was
the art critic who propelled the career of Jackson Pollock and helped to establish Abstract
Expressionism as a major artistic movement Greenberg began to praise on Pollock s work, though

Psychological Abuse In Slavery By Harriet Jacobs
Psychological abuse is characterized by non physical acts to affect inner thoughts. As a slave, Harriet
Jacobs experienced a great amount of pain and suffering while her and her family members were
slaves of Dr. Flint. She narrated her experiences after realizing she was a slave at six years old. From
an analysis of Harriet Jacobs experience in slavery, she suffered more from psychological abuse
because she was treated like property, manipulated by Dr. Flint, and emotionally depressed.
One of the reasons why Harriet Jacobs suffers more from psychological abuse was because she was
treated as property. Upon the death of her generous mistress, Harriet Jacobs was later relocated into
her mistress niece s house. The mistress niece was only five years old which made Jacobs the property
of her father, Dr. Flint who made Harriet Jacobs life a living hell while being a slave in his house.
From the time that Jacobs and her brother William first walked into their new master s home, they
knew their lives were about to get worse: When we entered our new home we encountered cold looks,
cold words, and cold treatment, (Ch.2). From the start, Dr. Flint and his wife treated Jacobs as
property. As Jacobs said in chapter four, he occasionally tried to sell her for high prices but said she
wasn t his property to sell: She don t belong to me. She is my daughter s property, and I have no right
to sell her. Once Jacobs was 15 years old and Dr. Flint was 55, his sexual interest towards

Justice and Love in Hugo s Les Misérables
The nineteenth century was an era distinguished by invention, progress, and social change. Countries

Revolution, stemmed in Europe and swept the masses, spreading widely across nations. The rapid
growth of the British Empire, alongside the calamitous fall of the French Empire, marked the
beginning of the eventful nineteenth century. Years after the French Revolution, the French Empire

Under the Declaration of Rights, the foreman s action of discriminating Valjean would be legally
protected because distinction based on virtue is permitted. However, the Declaration completely
disregards the fact that Valjean was imprisoned for something he did in a hopeless situation. The
society turned innocent people into hardened criminals because of their status. In Les Misérables,
Hugo focuses on society s mistreatment of Valjean in order to show how society in nineteenth century
France was defective because it took no notice of the morality of inevitable crime. By incorporating an
accurate historical figure into his novel, Hugo highlights the idea that even in miserable conditions,
life can be changed through perseverance and effort. In Les Misérables, Jean Valjean escapes his dark
criminal past and uses his knowledge of industry to start a successful factory. Years later, he becomes
the mayor and is rumored to have immense sums deposited with Laffitte, with the special condition
that they were always at his immediate command (Hugo 55). Hugo places Jacques Laffitte, a real
banker from French history, into his novel to interact with the transformed Valjean. Laffitte, a

Sophocles Antigone Theater played a large role in ancient Greek society. The citizens were meant to
learn from the mistakes made in tragedies. They should have learned what not to be like as a citizen or

their resistance to change, they both seal each others fate. Antigone is passionate... Creon is full of

Creon and Antigone and they are both very strong in their views. Creon is devoted to his laws, while
Antigone is loyal to her beliefs. Creon refuses to give in and alter his law. He labels those who dare

The Irony of Cannery Row
The book Cannery Row by John Steinbeck provides several examples of irony, which shed light on
life during this time in history and demonstrates the humanity of people that are traditionally looked
down on and seen as less fortunate. The story of Cannery Row takes place shortly following the Great
Depression when despite many areas were seeing relief through increased job opportunities, there
were still many areas like Cannery Row where people were focused on just surviving the day today. A
common theme seen throughout the story is the acceptance of what they have in the town. Many of the
examples of irony also lend to the idea that people accepted what was in ... Show more content on

Despite his lack of a medical license or ability to practice medicine, everyone goes to him when they
need help. They do not have the luxury of finding a real doctor or going to an actual hospital, so they

question is a common theme seen throughout the story.
The normality of public spaces being used as private spaces also demonstrates the theme of
acceptance. The character of Doc is ironic and fits well with the story because he is a doctor without a
license. By normal standards, this would be unacceptable, and he would be imprisoned for offering
medical help or advice without a license.Doc knows that he has somewhat of reasonability to the
people of cannery row. This responsibility being to help aide them with whatever their ailments may

  • 2. The European Integration On Different Aspects And Levels... Historically, attempts at unifying Europe can be traced back as far as 1464 when, after the fall of Constantinople, King George of Podrebady suggested that a league of Christian Nations should be formed (Wen, 2013). However, it was only after 1945 that the process for European integration, a process whereby sovereign states partially relinquish, or pool, national sovereignty to maximize their relative power and interest began (Kenealy et al., 2015). The theorization European integration started within the political subfield of International Relations (Pollack, 2001). However, the European Union is a complex and unique international organization. Are International Relations (IR) theories able to account for the origin, development and future of European integration? We will argue in this essay that IR theories account for European integration on different aspects and levels. Although Realism offers an interesting interpretation for the genesis of integration, European Integration is better explained through Liberalism. Howbeit, the shortcomings in their assumptions lead us to the thought that Constructivism gives a deeper account for European integration. Realism is one of the prevailing IR theories. Still, in the context of European integration, it has struggled to tie in its assumptions with what caused integration and how cooperation has developed. However, several thinkers have given a realist account of European integration. Integration is an exceptional event ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Roman Law During The Enlightenment Era Roman Law Justice has been misperceived to go hand and hand with rules in which a society must conform to, mostly in due part to the enlightenment era. In the case with the Romans, the laws they established, especially early on, dealing with the spread of Christianity has been interpreted with a sense of disgust for the unfair treatment targeted towards Christians, and later on to those of other faiths. However, I argue that, Roman law, when concerning religion, was used to strengthen the identity of what it meant to be Roman. Furthermore, as Rome, the political institution, was beginning to decay, as an act of acclamation, the formulation of Roman Laws allowed Christianity to be a main means of connection to what it meant to identify as Roman. Utilizing various primary sources, it is evident that faith had been gradually accepted as the dominant form of unity and law, beginning with Emperor Diocletian to Emperor Theodosia, even among emperors, the Catholic faith had shown that all men were under God, and under God they were all Roman. Roman law had first concerned itself with the spread of the Christian faith under the rule of Emperor Diocletian. Becoming the victor of a civil war, Diocletian had acquired the right to rule. Through his reign, it was evident that Diocletian had wanted to enforce his political strength, by imposing various methods to his empire, with varying degrees of success. • 4. Economic Sanctions Advantages And Disadvantages Economic Sanctions are a way of punishing errant countries which is more acceptable than bombing or invading them. It s a way to sway the target government to change a policy. Some Sanctions include limiting export or import trade and preventing transfers of money involving citizens or the government of the target. Sanctions can be multilateral with many countries acting together or unilateral when one country takes action on its own. Between 1914 and 1990 there were 116 sanctions that were imposed on countries and ⅔ of these failed to achieve their stated goals. The cost of the country imposing the sanctions can be very large, particularly when the country is acting unilaterally. It is estimated that in 1995 imposing sanctions on other countries cost the American economy over 15 billion dollars in lost exports and 200 thousand in lost jobs in export industries. (Evidence on the Costs and Benefits of Economic Sanctions) Trade Sanctions are a lot more effective with more sanctioners but is harder to keep everyone together. Think about this in terms of basic economics 101. This says that when demand falls, then prices fall as well. One example is Iranian oil. The West is trying to change Iranian nuclear behavior by imposing sanctions on this country and restricting the oil trade from Iran. If there s a bunch of countries no longer buying Iranian oil then the price of Iranian oil will go down. Since no one is buying their oil then the demand is going down and less people will ... Sometimes change causes a good thing to go bad, while at other times it can cause bad things to improve. Businesses have to be ready for change management at any juncture within their life cycle if they expect to have longevity within the industries that they operate. They maintain the optimal levels of communication through training their employees as the company or industry standards evolve; then they convey this knowledge to their clientele. Whether we are supporting the submission of a Risk Management Framework (RMF) package, assisting in the creation of policy, building AA documentation, analyzing vulnerability findings, or supporting tracking activities such as workforce IA training or Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), our focus is on the best practice methods to enhance the overall organizational security culture and posture. Children relate to these stories and admire both Alice and Dorothy. In what can be assumed are Alice s and Dorothy s dreams, we see various anthropomorphic creatures and animals. There imaginary worlds lead both girls to face situations in which they must think maturely and at the same time lose a bit of their innocence, similar to when a young child takes their first step in becoming their own mature and independent person. When both girls admit for the first time they were not who they were when they first entered their dreams, they took their first step into a new world of decision making and maturity. Alice and Dorothy mature throughout the story and leaving behind the dependence and innocence every person once had. Both girls are coming to the age of independence. Throughout Alice s and Dorothy s journey in wonderland it can be seen that each girl loses the air of innocence they had at the beginning of the story. The stories, Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll and The Wizard of Oz film directed by Victor Fleming, all represent a coming of age story where a young girl must go on a journey, let go of her childishness, and mature and face her fears in order to find their way home. For instance, I can promise love forever to my partner but it doesn t mean that this will last forever, sometimes the love ends or it can broke by infidelity. The respect that Socrates has for his country was very the most important aspect in his conversation with Crito. I will say that Socrates did all he could for his country, he even fought the wars for his country, and still his country didn t care for him and sentenced him to death. Watt (personal communication, August, 7, 2015) commented that out of all the members at the gym she works at, only 7% of them fit into older population category. Based on this statement, I think the amount of physically active older adults needs to increase dramatically. It is important to promote and support physical activity for the older population try and raise the amount of physically active older adults. Physical activity is defined as any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles that require energy expenditure . (World Health Organisation, 2015, para. 1). I believe it is important for the older population to be physically active because there are so many benefits which come from it. Some of the many benefits include reduced risk of getting diseases, prevention of obesity, better quality of life, reduced muscle shrinkage, increased energy and improved moods. (Berger, Cardina, Tobar Zi, 2015, p. 43). The benefits which I believe are most beneficial to the older population are having reduced disease risk, a better quality of life and improved mood. Supporting and encouraging the older population to participate in physical activity is crucial, especially since starting becoming active and doing something you have never done before can be off putting and make you think twice before taking part. I believe the 3 most important steps that need to be taken in order to support and promote physical activity are informing the older adults on the exercise benefits, ... • 15. The Meaning Of July Fourth For The Negro By Frederick... What comes to mind when you think of the Fourth of July? Most people think of positive words such as freedom and independence (maybe even fireworks and cookouts). Unfortunately, if a slave in the 1850s was asked this same question, this person would most likely not think of such pleasant words. Slaves did not think of this day as a celebration and instead were saddened by the fact they did not have the freedom that the white people in America did. One of these people is Frederick Douglass, who was born a slave and remained a slave for twenty years before escaping from the oppression he faced. When he arrived in the North, which was where a slave could be free, he became a great writer and speaker, and he told many about the cruelty of slavery. One of his famous speeches, called The Meaning of July Fourth for the Negro, was given on July 5, 1852, in Rochester, New York, at an event in the Corinthian Hall. The purpose of the event was to celebrate America s signing of the Declaration of Independence, 76 years before. However, this was not the purpose of Douglass s speech. He instead used this opportunity to tell the perspective of slaves on this day. Frederick Douglass hopes to inspire his audience to see how and why the celebration of a country that allows such an immoral practice to occur is inappropriate, and why he will instead be mourning on this holiday. In establishing this idea, Douglass incorporates rhetorical devices that hit all three points of the rhetorical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This claim can also be turned around by saying that technology has given kids more opportunities and chances to learn, and in particular, more opportunities to write (Source 7, Clive Thompson). An example of this is a study done at Stanford University, where it was discovered that Stanford students did a stunning 38 percent of their writing outside of the classroom (Source 7, Clive Thompson). • 19. A Brief Note On Robert Moses, Richard Ravitch And Othmar... Throughout the course of history there have been many advances in the world of infrastructure, mostly occurring in the 1800 s and the 1900 s. Infrastructure is defined as the basic physical and organizational structure needed for the operation of a society or enterprise, or the services and facilities necessary for an economy to function. This definition shows how important infrastructure is to people s lives today. It affects how people live, travel, and communicate with one another. Three men who made huge contributions in the world of infrastructure were Robert Moses, Richard Ravitch and Othmar Hermann Ammann. All three of these men were involved in designing numerous landmarks, highways, bridges, tunnels, and other forms of infrastructure that today we take for granted. Although all of these men were involved in infrastructure in the New York metropolitan area, their contributions, personalities, and the public s opinion of them were all different. Robert Moses was born in New Haven Connecticut. He is considered the master builder of New York City, Long Island, Rockland county, and Westchester county of the mid 1900 s. After graduating from Yale and earning a Ph.D. in political science from Columbia, Robert Moses became attracted to New York City reform politics. The concept is that a customer signs up for monthly home deliveries of items that they desire. Companies finding success with this strategy include Fabletics and Gentleman s Box. With the growing interest consumers have for convenience, it makes sense that home delivered goods would be so popular among consumers. The growth of this industry can be expected to continue to grow for many reasons, but most likely because of the low barriers to entry. However, the issue is how is this growing trend impacting retail stores like Banana Republic and Macey s. Pros: These subscription based companies are quickly taking over the retail market. The biggest pro for the consumer to a subscription based clothing service is convenience. These clothing subscription services generally entail clothes picked for you by a stylist in your selected size, which are sent directly to your door every month. The consumer is able to try on the items in the comfort of their own home. If they don t like it, they have the option to send it back. However, if they do like it, then their monthly subscription cost goes towards any items they decide to keep. If the cost of what they keep is greater than the subscription service, they charge the consumer s card for the remaining clothes, typically at a discounted price. Discrediting all previous educational and philosophic approaches as intellectually incomplete or inaccurate, Dewey first presents a new perspective on the nature of knowledge, education, society and philosophy. One fundamental theme of Dewey s progressive movement is that education is growth and that growth is, in and of itself, the objective. Societies can be, by definition, small associations of like minded individuals with narrow aims or large nations with broad, diverse aims. Dewey offers two standards which can be applied to assess the value of a society: How numerous and varied are the interests which are consciously shared? How full and free is the interplay with other forms of association? By applying these two questions, the natural conclusion of the ideal society is democratic, that is to say one that offers its citizens the freedom of expression and communication. If a democracy represents an ideal society that presents the maximum number of common interests and the maximum opportunities for association with other societies, then it also represents the ideal society in its potential for growth. Any society with a near limitless potential for growth must redefine the concept of knowledge in order to gain efficiencies in its education system. Previous attempts at defining knowledge were flawed, in the mind of the Progressivist, by directly stating or implying a division or duality that presents a barrier to free intercourse of ideas. Examples of these dualities are that of different classes within a society such as rich vs poor, noble vs lower class, ruler vs ruled or that of the physical vs metaphysical worlds. Originally, the United States was an agrarian society. The majority of Americans lived on farms. People made most of the items that they needed, and with little trade necessary, there was no need for schooling (McLain, 1973). However, as people branched out into neighboring areas, they needed to learn new skills, such as basic arithmetic to price items, measure land, and more (McLain, 1973). It is important to note that year round schools have the same number of days in a calendar year as does the traditional school year. However, the days are distributed throughout the year. Year round schools differ from traditional schools in a variety of ways. Single Track Calendar In order to accommodate the year round calendar, there are several forms of year round education.
