In Class Essay: Immanuel Kant s Theory
The question is:
Kant s theory of ethics is not compatible with religious ethical approaches. How far do you agree?
Write a 5 paragraph essay and be sure to refer to more than just Kant s ethical theory in your answer.
In this unit of Morality and Ethics, we examine Immanuel Kant s theory of ethics and its relationship
and compatibility with several religious ethical approaches. As we learn from W.D. Ross s book The
Right and the Good. Oxford, Kant lived a rigid life in Konigsberg, Germany and he was a
deontologist, thus rejecting the teleological position of determining to act based on consequences.

Comparing Calypso And The Odyssey
The two compositions, Calypso by Suzanne Vega and The Odyssey by Homer, are two different ways
of telling the story about the relationship between Calypso and Odysseus. In each piece Calypso is
very similar, yet very different. The song, Calypso, is a about Calypso letting Odysseus go. It seems
she believes that she kept him all that time and she needs to let him leave. Calypso says, I will stand
upon the shore with a clean heart, when she says with a clean heart , she refers to her decision that she
is going to let Odysseus go and be free. Repeating the phrase I let him go at the end of every stanza
can be noticed by one in the song. The repetitiveness shows that Calypso may be regretting her
decision, but also knows she must do it.

Internment of Japanese Americans in World War II Essay
On December 7, 1941, the Empire of Japan attacked the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor,
bringing the United States into World War II (Prange et al., 1981: p.174). On February 19, 1942,
United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt issued Executive Order 9066 authorizing the Secretary
of War and Military Commanders to prescribe areas of land as excludable military zones (Roosevelt,
1942). Effectively, this order sanctioned the identification, deportation, and internment of innocent
Japanese Americans in War Relocation Camps across the western half of the United States. During the
spring and summer of 1942, it is estimated that almost 120,000 Japanese Americans were relocated
from their homes along the West Coast and in Hawaii and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
officials eventually began to recruit these internees into the American army. Not only was WWII a war
about political alliances and geographical sovereignty, but it was also a war about race and racial
superiority throughout the world. Propagating this idea, Dower (1986) argues, World War Two
contributed immeasurably not only to a sharpened awareness of racism within the United States, but
also to more radical demands and militant tactics on the part of the victims of discrimination (War
Without Mercy: p.5). In elucidating the racial motivations and fallout from WWII, Dower helps one
realize the critical role that race and racial politics played during the war and are still at play in our
contemporary world. An analysis of this internment process reveals how the ultimate goal of the U.S.
internment of Japanese Americans and the United States subsequent occupation of Japan was to
essentially brainwash the Japanese race into demonstrating allegiance to America. Startled by the
surprise attack on their naval base at Pearl Harbor and anxious about a full fledged Japanese attack on
the United States West Coast, American government officials targeted all people of Japanese descent,
regardless of their citizenship status, occupation, or demonstrated loyalty to the US. As my
grandfather Frank Matsuura, a nisei born in Los Angeles, California and interned in the Granada War

Childhood Leukemia Essay
Childhood leukemia reducing the risk
Leukemia in the Western countries is the most common childhood cancer and is most common in
children under the age of 10. On the other hand, in India, have a much lower rate of childhood
leukemia. Scientists now believe they have discovered the reason behind.
Leukemia is a cancer of the bone marrow, a malignant progressive disease in which the bone marrow
and other blood forming organs produce increased numbers of immature or abnormal leukocytes.
These suppress the production of normal blood cells, leading to anemia and other symptoms.
The Conventional medicine treatment takes usually about two to three years using radiation and
chemotherapy, which has extremely unpleasant side effects (nausea, hair loss, mucosal and intestinal
inflammation, etc.) and yet still can bring unknown long term consequences such as sterility.

The probability of developing leukemia was lower in fruit eating children by 51 percent. The regular
drinking of fresh orange juice was enough apparently according to a study to protect children against
leukemia. Compared to children who never or only sporadically drank orange juice, the risk of
leukemia by the juice drinking children had reduced by 46 percent.
Fruits are known to be full of vitamins, minerals, enzymes and antioxidant effective, all of which have
cancer protective properties. Oranges contain particularly high levels of vitamin C, which belongs to
the proven anticancer natural substances to the front runners. Bananas contain particularly large
amounts of potassium, a mineral that could also be detected with anti cancer

Key Factors Influencing Economic Growth
Chapter 7, Principle 1: Base Your Management Decisions on Long Term Philosophy, Even at the
Expense of Short term Financial Goals illustrates factors that ought to be considered in business in
order to influence success. However, despite the influence of self interest, demand, and supply on
financial system, there is the dark side in pursuit of self interest as the main factor influencing
economic growth. This is seen in major scandals of major organizations. This has influences shortage
of jobs and high rates of unemployment. As illustrated in this chapter, it is evident that short term
profits earned by organizations can influence big contributions to organizations. Toyota is one of the

This has influenced more than a few organizations to emulate Toyota. When Toyota managers as well
as its executives were interviewed, they are asked why the company was there as a business. Based on
their opinion, it is evident that the company s success is a result of motivation and consistence in their
labor. In addition, they argued that the purpose of the company is not to make money. The company
only makes money in order to focus on the future. The company invests in order to ensure that it
continues to grow and develop in investments. According to managers and executives response, it is
evident that Toyota makes money to help the community in many ways. As illustrated in the chapter, it
is evident that Toyota nearly went bankrupt during the World War II. This led to resignation of the
founder of the company Kiichiro Toyoda. However, the company came up with a strategy of
eliminating wasted motions and coming up with considerable measures that will effectively enhance
fast developments. The management of the company came up with a Budget Control System were the
monthly data is used to keep an eye on the budgets of all divisions down to the least expenditure.
According to chapter 7, when the managers were questioned based on cost reduction and whether it
was a priority, they stated that it was not an underlying factor that the company uses to drive sales. In
that case, the company would not fire its employees as a result of downturn in sales. The organization

Similarities Between Genesis And The Truman Show
In both the Truman Show and Genesis there is a main creator. Christof, in The Truman Show, is the
director of a programme that stars a man called Truman Burbank. Christof controls majority of the
things that happen inside of the television program and within his creations. God, in the bible, created
the world and everything that it holds. God has power over two people he creates in the story of
Genesis. The product of both creators are also extremely alike, Truman showing a lot of qualities that
Adam shows. The two creators differ in ways of control and their decisions made. Although they have
differences, there are many parallels to how they handle their power over their creations.
One of the main points of similarity include where the main story is the set. In The Truman Show, the
director, Christof, creates a real building in the shape of a dome and names it Seahaven. In the bible
God made a dome and named it sky. Both stories show a perfectly clean and perfect place for the main
characters to live. The dome in The Truman show is shown to be a stereotypically clean, small
American town. Similarly, the dome in the bible is shown as a beautiful place to live filled with
everything someone living there could need. Inside the dome in Genesis, Lord God took some soil
from the ground and formed a man out of it. God created humans to live inside the dome he made
whereas Christof put actors inside the dome.
The scene starts with Truman looking in the bathroom mirror. It

Siddhartha and Narcissus and Goldmund Comparative Essay
Siddhartha and Narcissus and Goldmund
Comparative Essay
Hermann Hesse was a man that lived from 1877 and 1962 and faced a life of struggle as he coped with
the effects of war. During this period of time the theme of finding yourself was quite popular and
experiences affect his works. Hesse wrote both Narcissus And Goldmund and Siddhartha, two books
that are about men who are searching for who they are. The novels themselves have various ideas in
common, even small details, but are two different pieces of work.
The protagonists in both these books are out on a quest to find themselves, who they are and what they
are doing. Both Siddhartha and Goldmund start off strictly bound to their fate but drift to other ideas,
like Siddhartha going ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The leave of these two characters is a shock to their friends Govinda and Narcissus. During the
journeys, the wanderers seem to venture and finally come upon a place they had been before. Just like
how Siddhartha returned to the river and Goldmund goes to the cloister. Although they reach the same
places they ve been to, things change for them as they near the end of their long paths. Both are wiser
and have much more experience than they did when they came upon these places the first time. Also
another recurring theme is the idea that eventually everything comes back. It s shown in Narcissus and
Goldmund how Goldmund goes back to the cloister and in Siddhartha how he returns to the river.
Even further than that is the fact that even friends come back where Narcissus comes upon the
opportunity to save Goldmund s life after many years of not seeing him, and how Govinda meets this
new sage, his old friend Siddhartha.
The quests of the two protagonists seem to follow the same trend. The two of them, Goldmund and
Siddhartha, start their quests in families that are well to do. (Siddhartha is a Brahmin and Goldmund s
father is in the upper class). Next they both go into a spiritual frenzy as Siddhartha becomes enveloped
in mortification of the flesh as an ascetic and Goldmund studies his religion ardently. After that both
characters suffer an awakening to something bigger and

Radioactive Fission Research Paper
In late December in 1938, a chemist going by the name of Otto Hahn discovered radioactive fission
between the element Uranium. He had started off by causing impact between it and causing a Uranium
atom to split into two. When that happened it was known as a process called fission, a topic known
little about in 1930 s. When a radioactive element such as Uranium enters the process of fission it
splits the atom causing a specified amount of energy to foil out. Just the split of one atom during their
experiment caused an entire grain of sand to jump in the air. Imagine what 50 pounds of that could do,
let alone 100! Well this is what they did with 500 pounds of it.
Quickly as the violent information of this amazing experiment had spread around, a scientist named
Robert Oppenheimer had declared That s impossible, The U Business is unbelievable, Like most
scientists, Oppenheimer was excited as this meant some new possibilities to come forth. Not ever
having a single thought of making weapons of mass destruction, he now realized this could be very
dangerous if put in the wrong hands. Even faster now the news had spread all the way to Germany

Surfactant Replacement in Neonates with Respiratory...
Surfactant Replacement in Neonates with Respiratory Distress Syndrome Type The innovation of
surfactant replacement therapy in the treatment of respiratory distress syndrome has proven to increase
the survival and minimize the complications of the premature neonate. Replacing surfactant has
lessened time on ventilators, and allowing the neonate and parents an opportunity to grow together
earlier outside of intensive care. This paper will discuss the etiology of respiratory distress syndrome
type I, the treatment options and nursing care of the neonate during surfactant replacement.

These include maternal hypertension, gestational diabetes excluding classes D, F, and R, intrauterine
growth restriction, preterm labor, and drug abuse. The neonate high risk factors are birth prior to 32
weeks, weighing less then 1300 grams and laboratory data suggesting poor lung maturity discussed
later. (Bower, Barnhart, betiti, Hendon, Masi lynch, Wilson, 825) The highest risk factor for RDS type
I is an insulin dependent diabetic mother, because boluses of insulin injections severely decrease the
fetus production of surfactant. (Porth, 1306)) Chronic hypoxic events during pregnancy associated
with mild to moderate maternal hypertension have shown however to sometime accelerate fetal lung
maturity and surfactant production leading to a decrease in neonatal respiratory complications. (Kim,
Vohr, Oh, 39) This due to cortical steroid secretion that stimulate an increased production of surfactant
in response to the stresses of hypoxic events. (Porth, 1306) The symptoms of oncoming RDS may at
first not be present in a fetus greater then 28 weeks since they have produced enough surfactant to
thrive outside of uterine life for a short time. However the high initial pressure to breathe the first
breath remains constant with each subsequent breath causing extreme effort for

Implementation Of A Transitional Care Program Evaluation
For a transitional care program evaluation, it is requisite to combine two separate theories to aid in
addressing the problem of poor transitional care outcomes, the process of measuring outcomes, and
the creation of recommendations for improvement. A middle range nursing theory, Transitions theory
centers on the process of individuals transitions and addresses the barriers to and principles of
successful transitional outcomes (Meleis, 2010). The theory is both descriptive and predictive, it can
be used to further describe and define the problem of poor transitions and its barriers as well as
identify outcomes that signal successful interventions in individuals (Meleis, Sawyer, Im, Messias,
Schumacher, 2000). The indicators of successful interventions as defined by Transitions Theory can
guide the selection of the types of outcomes to be measured by the program evaluation to ensure that
outcomes that reflect transitional success are selected. Furthermore, the principles of healthy
transitions identified by Transitions Theory will aid in the creation of recommendations for program
improvement. Continuous quality improvement (CQI) will be joined with Transitions Theory in the
program evaluation. Although originally developed by business managers, CQI is best known for its
use in manufacturing settings, specifically in the automotive industry (Radawski, 1999). CQI was
created with customers (patients) as the center of its philosophy; consequentially, the model

Adoption Of Ideas
In the modern corporate landscape continued adoption of new ideas and methodologies is vital to
success, however there are certain barriers which prevent the adoption of novel ideas. It is of
paramount importance to organisations to demystify the factors which hold back the implementation
of new ideas. Ideas include but are not limited to innovative concepts regarding new products, new
processes and new approaches to management. In this essay, I will explore the main barriers facing
idea adoption namely risk aversion of organisations to radical new ideas, unhealthy working
relationships between supervisors and subordinates, poor organisational culture and adoption of
disruptive new technologies.
One explanation for the failure of adoption ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This suggests that another barrier to implementation of new ideas is the loyalty an employee feels
towards the organisation and how secure he/she feels in their position. There is strong indication in
research conducted by Burris et.al (2008) that both loyalty and openness of employees to new ideas
are affected negatively if there is a breakdown in the relationship between the employee and the
supervisor. This observation is far more advantageous to organisations from a practical standpoint as
encouraging strong working relationships between their employees and promoting loyalty to the firm
can lead to positive outcomes in the field of innovation.
Poor organisational culture with a lack of emphasis on innovation may deter the process of idea
adoption. Research conducted by McDonald (2007) suggests that the mission of an organisation is
pivotal in focusing employees to work to develop and adopt new ideas which further the mission of
the organisation. He states that dedication towards a mission statement will create a more innovative
work culture where employees are more likely to be open to accepting failure of some of the
prototypes and work towards improving these models until they can be implemented across the firm.
It must be noted how this viewpoint appears to be a remedy for the rejection of ideas due to risk
aversion observed by Baer (2012). This theory provides a broader sense

Flag burning Johnny Cash once quoted the statement, I love the freedoms we got in this country, I
appreciate your freedom to burn your flag if you want to, but I really appreciate my right to bear arms
I can shoot you if you try to burn mine . Flag desecration became an issue in the early 1900s which
caused a controversy of whether flag burning is right or wrong. Some people believe that they have
the right to burn the flag and others believe that its is offensive. While some will say a flag burning
law will restrict their first amendment right, it is very disrespectful to those who risk their lives for the
country, it creates a controversy in the community, and it is an ignorant way to protest. Although

Analysis Of The Poem The Harbormaster By Frank O Hara
To the Harbormaster : An Open Letter to God
At first glance, it appears as though O Hara s poem To the Harbormaster is about a man sailing a
turbulent sea, but there is far more to examine past the surface level of the poem. O Hara chooses to
use the word vessel (14) in the poem. The Oxford English dictionary defines the word vessel in
multiple ways. One is any structure designed to float upon and traverse the water for the carriage of
persons or goods; a craft or ship of any kind. It is also defined as Said of the body, esp. as the
receptacle of the soul and has origins in that context from the bible (OED). In Frank O Hara s poem
To the Harbormaster, the harbormaster is actually a metaphor for God, which can be examined by
unpacking the meaning of the word vessel, and illuminates the human experience of grappling with
religion.
In To the Harbormaster, the word vessel is meant literally as a ship. He uses nautical imagery all
throughout: ship (2), moorings (3), tide (5), rudder (8), hull (10), cordage (10), reeds (13), and finally
vessel (14). In this way, and for the metaphor of someone at sea throughout, at the surface level of the
poem, vessel is used to describe a ship. However, when further examining the word vessel as meaning
a body or receptacle for the soul, and the biblical origins associated with that meaning, one is able to
find several examples to back up an alternate and deeper meaning. In the lines, To / you I offer my
hull and

Transfiguration In The Eucharist
The first Eucharistic transfiguration was conducted by Jesus Christ at the Last Supper. The Last
Supper was the final meal Jesus shared with his Disciples in Jerusalem. The meal also commemorated
His establishment of the priesthood. At the Last Supper also identified as Mass, Jesus articulated to his
Apostles, the forerunners of the current bishops, to reenact His enactment in commemorative of his
passing. The Church has traditionally imparted how the Eucharist has originated at the Last Supper
and how the initial society followed Jesus command to break bread in his name (Acts 2:42). Luke s
Gospel also expresses Jesus words: Do this in memory of me . During the Mass, Catholics faithfully
unleavened bread and wine are transformed into the body and blood of Jesus Christ through a process
known as transubstantiation. This has been an action completed by Jesus during the Passover meal
who uttered the words This is my body, which is given for you. Subsequently, he passes a cup filled
with wine. He then says, This is my blood... It is believed those who eat of Christ s flesh and blood
shall have eternal life. Since that period, the Church has devotedly obeyed the Lord s commands, the
Last Supper is renowned everyday through the commemorating of Mass. Throughout the past decades,
the practice of Latin has developed into a site of Catholic traditionalism, however in the upcoming
years this has shifted due to the discharge of the new liturgy, the older form of mass;

Corporate Social Responsibility Of A Business
The responsibility of a business goes beyond just turning a profit, they also have an obligation to
society. The stakeholders; consumers, employees, the community and the environment, all have a
variety of needs that should be met by the company. These needs can include things such as safer
more affordable products for the consumer, fair wages and good working conditions for the employee,
or environmentally safe production practices that cut down on pollution for the community. Meeting
these needs is known as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and can have a profound impact on
the company. Businesses, big and small, have an obligation to society to provide quality services
while protecting the integrity of the environment and community surrounding them. This social
responsibility can be broken down into at least five different areas that contribute to the success of a
business. These are economic, legal, ethical, philanthropic and environmental. In order for these
principles to work towards the success of a business fulfilling its social responsibility the company
must first be profitable. This is one aspect that economists and businessmen can agree on regardless of
which model of business they follow. Without enough of a profit margin none of the other social
responsibilities can be met. Therefore, the first aspect of the Corporate Social Responsibilities is being
profitable. It has already been determined that this is necessary for a business just to stay afloat,

Julia Ward Howe s Song The Battle Hymn Of The Republic
In the song The Battle Hymn of The Republic by Julia Ward Howe, is a bit longer than expected, it has
a great beat, words, and musical instrumentation throughout the whole song. Being drawn to this piece
of music by its title and having had family fight for our freedom, I chose to learn more about this
song. The introduction is an announcement of the eyes of the soldiers seeing enough of war. With the
wording of God s truth is marching on and the war coming to an end, shows soldiers singing songs of
praise for getting to come home and be with family. This gives a happy tone throughout the song. The
beat on the instruments goes high and low as the singers of the song sing of God marching on to fight
for freedom.

expanding her knowledge and increasing her love of writing. She married Samuel Gridley Howe, who

Annotated Bibliography On The Adequacy
The increase of research on authoritative adequacy has prompted to the recognizable proof of a few
hierarchical variables that have a persuasive part in the assurance of authoritative execution.
Hierarchical culture is one such variable that has gotten much consideration in authoritative conduct
written works, on account of the key part it plays in deciding levels of hierarchical results. A typical
speculation about the part of hierarchical culture is that if an association has a solid culture by
displaying a very much coordinated and viable arrangement of particular qualities, convictions, and
practices, then it will perform at a larger amount of efficiency Given the impact of an association s
way of life on its profitability, the advancement of hypothesis to direct the investigation of the
structures and outcomes of authoritative culture is of essential significance to enhancing authoritative
execution. Associations vary in their way of life including how they see disparity inside the
association. Hierarchical stories, images, and practices flag to authoritative individuals how genuine
uniqueness in its participation will be seen. It has been found that, it is not the nearness of the differing
qualities itself that decides the impacts of the differences inside an association however, rather, the
level of openness to disparity normal for the association s individuals, work gatherings and culture.

Selfhood and Motherhood in The Awakening by Kate Chopin
By all the codes which I am acquainted with, I am a devilishly wicked specimen of the sex. But some
way I can t convince myself that I am (216) Kate Chopin Kate Chopin s The Awakening depicts Edna
Pontellier s struggle to find and assert herself within the cultural constraints of late 19th century
America. Like her name Pontellier , which means one who bridges, it implies that Edna is in a
transition between two worlds but not fully embedded in either. Her intent is to bridge the limited
world of the mother woman to that of selfhood. In The Awakening, the mother women were women
who idolized their children, worshiped their husbands, and esteemed it a holy privilege to efface
themselves as individuals and grow wings as ministering angels (Chopin 19). They readily
relinquished their individual identities. Madame Ratignolle exemplified the role of the mother woman
as she was defined by and found pleasure in her roles of both wife and mother: she played [the piano]
very well, keeping excellent waltz time and infusing an expression into the strings that ... inspired...
keeping up her music on account of the children... because she and her husband both considered it a
means of brightening the home and making it attractive (Chopin 61). Although Edna revels in
motherhood, she believes that there is an ideal truth beyond it. This truth, according to Dyer, cannot
coexist with the social, the moral, or even the biological obligations of motherhood (105). Edna,
therefore, finds

will assist the company in reaching its goal of a market capitalization of $10 billion, which will allow
Newell to control a higher price per earnings multiple. The company s plan is to gain access to the
capital markets by aggressively adding new products by acquisition (Montgomery, 2005). The key to
this approach was a two part strategy, the acquisition process and guaranteeing company continuity
throughout the division to assist the company s in its market performance. Executives must balance a
company s growth with its ability to manage the growth (Raisch and Krogh, 2007).
Executive Summary
Newell focused its attention on acquiring manufacturing businesses that were under performing,
whether due to increased costs and poor operating margins of 10% or less. This allowed Newell to
acquire over 30 major companies in the following 20 years. These included businesses that
manufactured nonseasonal, low technology, non fashionable, and non cyclical items whose volume
rested on retailers shelves throughout the year. Immediately following the acquisition, the companies
experienced Newellization (Montgomery, 2005). The goal

Shared Assumptions
Research Question
Why is it necessary to define and identify the optimal cultural traits and basic shared assumptions of
an academic library organization?
Three Dialogues
Dialogue 1: Talking about your problem
.
Opponent: Why do you need to identify the optimal cultural traits and basic shared assumptions of an
academic library?
.
Me: Because, failing to understand or acknowledge optimal cultural traits and basic shared
assumptions within the organization may fortify traditional and narrow approaches to delivering
excellent services and programs to the academic community.
.
Opponent: Will you actually be able to change the culture of the organization by understanding its
optimal traits and shared assumptions?

Me: Defining the optimal cultural traits and shared assumptions of the academic library is possible
using well established data collection tools and assessment strategies. There are multiple options for
assessing the organizational culture, however for this specific question I am focused on two strategies.
Edgar Schein is a respected expert on organizational culture and leadership. He has written numerous
books including Organizational Culture and Leadership (Schein, 2010). This specific publication
outlines a structure for rapidly assessing the culture of an organization. The second method is
administering the Organizational Culture Inventory (OCI), a statistically normed and validated survey
used for organizational consulting and change purposes (Balthazard, Cooke, Potter, 2006, p. 712).

The Discrepancies of Shakespeare
Shakespeare is a world renowned playwright. Most people could describe at least of one of his plays,
poems, or sonnets. However, not many people can recall the details of his personal life. Some may
know that he was married, while others believe that he gay. Since there are so many discrepancies
concerning William Shakespeare, it can no longer be determined what the facts are and what is fiction.
The discrepancies that involve Shakespeare start with his father. John Shakespeare had come to live in
Stratford upon Avon, working as a glove maker. However, John had a long line of jobs. He was a wool
dealer and was involved in money lending ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, he could have been born on the 25th and there just happened to be a baptismal on the 26th.
There are so many possibilities that one must wonder if it is right to assume a date.
Nobody knows if Shakespeare went to school or not. There are no records that Shakespeare ever
attended school. However, since no records of anyone s school attendance were generally kept, there
is no evidence against it. It is supposed, because he was the son of a leading townsman, that he
attended the King Edward VI Grammar School in Stratford. Here, his education would have consisted
of a thorough knowledge of Latin, logic and rhetoric and also history, which would have been mainly
classical, (http:168.216.219.18).This could explain Shakespeare s knowledge of history for his plays.
If William had attended school, it is probable that he left at about the age of fourteen.
William had the example of his father s success and the standing of his mother as a gentlewoman to
ignite his own ambition, and it was while he was young that his father was at the height of his
influence.
Then, the fortunes of his father mysteriously failed as he appeared to fall into financial difficulties
which led him to default on his attendance at council meetings. As for William, it is very likely that he
became apprenticed to his father s business. This is because it was the custom for young men,

The Importance Of Recess In Schools
Across America school districts continue negotiating as to whether or not recess is an essential part of
a child s school day. Recently there has been pressure to increase test scores in the United States.
Consequently, recess is being cut or reduced in order to provide children with additional instructional
time, but are breaks necessary for active learning? Recess is also a liability issue for schools since the
environment is more relaxed and more exposed to the outside world. Ever since we can remember
recess has been a vital part of the school day, but should that change? Will cutting recess improve
children s test scores?
This all started approximately five to ten years ago when nearly half of the schools in the United
States began to lessen recess time or even cut it entirely (Dills 890). Some schools are not even
building playgrounds anymore (Schachter 37). This occurred because of the push to increase test
scores and the incentives that go along with it. The higher the test scores, the more funding schools
receive. Therefore, schools are making sacrifices and doing the best that they can in order to receive as
much funding possible. A school cannot be run properly without sufficient support so cutting recess if
it in fact improves test scores is justifiable. As Anthony Pellegrini wrote in his book, to adults recess is
just playtime and has no actual value, but for kid s recess is important (181). This remains the reason
numerous districts are questioning

Warning labels help people know what they re eating. People need to know what they re eating so they
won t get sick. According to www.debate.org 69% of people think that fast foods shouldnt have
warning labels. Basically some people think fast foods should have warning labels but others don t see
the point.
Then, I believe that warning labels should be on fast foods because we need to know what we are
eating. It s also important that we take care of our bodies instead of filling it with hormones. We all
can t eat the same meats so it s important to eat only what we can that won t cause us to have
problems. I feel so strongly because it s very easy to have health problems or an allergic reaction. If
warning labels are on these fast foods, these problems wouldn t occur.
Furthermore, to solve this problem the public is having, fast food restaurants need to put warning
labels on their food. This way, the public will stop complaining about all of the issues they keep
having with fast foods. If someone was to get get sick, they couldn t get sued because the warning
label would be on the food. In this case everyone are on the same page and aware of what they re

Essay On Gender Dysphoria
His parents named him Samantha, but he always preferred to be called Sam. At birth Sam was
identified as female, but he never felt that way. At the age of only five, Sam was diagnosed with
Gender Dysphoria: a persistent unease with having the physical characteristics of one s gender,
accompanied by a strong identification with the opposite gender. For example, a person who has all of
the physical traits of a male might feel strongly instead that he is a female. This person would have a
passionate desire to have a female body and to be accepted by others as a female. On the other hand,

of children that have very solid gender identities. As early as 2 years old, the signs and symptoms of
having Gender Dysphoria may begin to become more relevant. Dr. Olson states that some of the signs
and symptoms in children may include: constantly saying they are the opposite sex, playing with toys
that aren t typical for their gender, rejecting clothes and games relating to their gender, believing they
will grow up to be the opposite sex, and saying they want to get rid of their genitals. As the children
grow older in their teen years, the symptoms can become far worse. Teenagers may become even more
certain that their gender is not true to their body, be disgusted with their genitals, and want their
removal. At this time, teenagers at the age of 16 may seek medical attention to help them transition to
the opposite sex. Adults will typically have the same symptoms as teens but moreso they will feel
more depressed and isolated, as well as dressing as the opposite gender. Left untreated, children and

Robot Takeover Essay
Since before the standing of the Luddites, society has had a fear of technology and it s advances into
the job market. According to Volti, (2012), job security is an important factor is people s satisfaction in
life and on the job (p. 199), and with the threat of anyone or thing taking over is extremely unsettling.
During the Industrial Revolution, people saw technology advancing and replacing people in factories
which enhanced fears of a complete take over. Decades have passed and we have not seen the
overtaking by these machines because the machines are dependent on human maintenance and
programing, but with the fast, exponential rate of the advancement of artificial intelligence, will
technology finally encroach on most positions now held by humans? There are arguments on both
sides of the line, some stating new positions will be created with the help of technology, others say
humans are doomed and the robot takeover is closer than we think. Whichever side of the line they
lean towards, one thing they all agree upon is that robots, artificial intelligence will be a common site
in most all fascist of society. Arntz, Gregory and Zierahn (2017), believe current statistics, stating up
to half of all jobs are at risk of takeover by automation, do not consider tasks and jobs that will be
created to assist technology (p. 157). Just as during the Industrial Revolution when the Luddites
believed technology would take over, currently no one can foresee what new positions will

How Consciousness Can Be Changed Essay
Consciousness is only possible through change; change is only possible through movement. Aldous
Huxley
In order to understand how consciousness can be changed, we first had to learn what consciousness is
and where it resides, if anywhere specific. For instance, some theories state consciousness resides
within the visual hierarchy system, while others pinpoint its location to a specific brain structure
known as the claustrum. Even still, researchers debate on whether consciousness, or the state of being
aware of oneself, even has a home at all. It is possible it is just the workings of many brain structures
or neurons working together, something more of a product than a mechanism on its own. Regardless if
there is agreement on how to define consciousness or self consciousness and where it derives from, all
can agree that various methods in life have the possibility to change one s conscious state.
Many activities in life, both accidental and intentional, lead to changes in conscious states. Activities
such as paranormal encounterances, drugs, sleep, imagination, meditation, religion, and big or
stressful life events all have the capability alter one s conscious. Throughout this section, we have
discovered many things that can alter one s state of consciousness or awareness. Acts such as drinking
alcohol or taking drugs will, depending on the substance, inhibit or increase your awareness of your

Gross Domestic Product ( Gdp ) Of A Nation
Gross Domestic Product
Gross domestic product (GDP) of a nation is comprised of four primary components. These
components; consumption, investment, government spending and net exports are the measure of the
monetary value of all the finished goods and services produced within a country s borders in over a
given period of time. This can be broken down in any time frame but is normally used quarterly and
annually. The GDP can be calculated as; GDP (Y) = consumption (C) + investment (I) + government
spending (G) + net exports (NX) or Y=C+I+G+NX. The key word here is finished goods and not all
goods.
Household consumption, one of the four components of calculating the GDP of a nation has a broad
range of items included in it. With the exception of the cost of buying a used house, most all durable
and nondurable goods are measured within this. The money a family spends on goods and services
include everything from haircuts to education. Durable goods would be vehicles for transportation and
all of the items that one buys to furnish a home. Items big and small regardless of brand or cost are
factored in this component. If one was to buy and new set of appliances for a kitchen and a broom to
sweep the floor, they are both used in this calculation. If one was to save this money for a while longer
it would make the overall GDP lower than if the items were purchased. Education is often thought of
as an investment in ones future but it is considered consumption by means of an

Computer Languages And Programming Frameworks
INRODUCTION Early accounting software was bespoke, painstakingly handcrafted literally byte by
byte over the course of months. While it represented an obvious step forward from employing hordes
of people chugging away on adding machines and carrying stacks of paper all over the place, there
was still a great deal of room for improvement. As time passed, computer capacity grew to enable the
use of higher level development tools. These allowed people to define and encode business rules
without needing to understand everything down to the basic wiring of the machine. True computer
languages and programming frameworks followed. Probably the first report generation language was
developed in 1959 for the IBM 7090 and known as 9PAC . At the time, storing and accessing
structured data on computers was still in its infancy, and some concepts from 9PAC formed key parts
of the development of early relational databases. Throughout the 1960s, companies invested in
producing proprietary accounting systems tailored to their particular requirements. Jobs would be run
in batch mode, often overnight, with only a select few permitted to see or access the computer directly
(frequently, this did not even include the programmers!) However, computers continued to grow in
capability, and the idea of building one generalized application with flexible features which could be
customized to each client s needs became reality in 1973 with the introduction of SAP RF. Over time

Fidel Castro As A Hero
Fidel Castro: A True Revolutionary
Every time someone says the word hero , everyone always thinks of supernatural beings with
incredible physical strength, whether they be fictional or not. Soldiers, volunteers, firefighters, and
policemen are considered to be heros but heroism does not always need strength and wisdom to define
a hero. Heros can be ordinary people that go out of their way for someone, someone that we look up
to, or, according to Joseph Campbell, a hero is someone who is willing to sacrifice himself for others.
While this causes major controversy, Fidel Castro is someone I consider a hero, a revolutionary hero.
The Ordinary World
According to Joseph Campbell, there are 12 stages of a hero s journey, although not all 12 stages are
used. The first stage of a hero s journey is the call to adventure which means that heros must be
removed from their everyday life to embark on a quest. Fidel Castro journeyed on a quest because
when he was younger, he participated in the Bogotazo, which were a series of riots in Bogotá,
Colombia following with the assassination of Jorge E. Gaitán. ( Encyclopedia of World... ). Since not
all hero s go through all 12 stages, Fidel Castro was one few of those who did not go through the
refusal stage, he accepted the call.

Anne Hardy s Article, Eugenics, Public Health, And The...
In the eighteenth century, relations amongst food and the state grew stronger, ranging from farmer
wages to the amount of food that is produced. However, Anne Hardy s article, Pioneers in the
Victorian provinces: veterinarians, public health, and the urban animal economy speaks about the
increased attention to public health in the United Kingdom bolstered the relationship between food
and the state. The emergence of the veterinarians, several acts being passed regarding public health,
and studies that showed correlations between human diseases with animal diseases, all turned food
into a vital part of the state. Before the mid eighteenth century, public health was an issue that was
largely overlooked, but new investigations regarding fever among the lower class made way for new
research regarding public health. One of the biggest issues in the cities were the abundance of animals,
ranging from horses, to cattle, to pigs. However, what the cities did not realize was the harmful effects
that these animals had on the environment. When animals would die, their carcasses would generate
vapors that led to diseases and illness. Although there was a catastrophic cattle plague in 1865 1866,
the Victorian government did not look at animals in the city a significant issue until the end of the
century. 1876 was a pivotal year in regards to animals and their effects on society. In 1876 studies
showed the specific agents of disease that were linked between animals and humans. These

The demand is up yet we are getting cut and so you feel for the student who is trying to get the job
skills to better themselves.
The economic recession is a major contributing factor as to why many students are enrolling back into
colleges and universities. A majority of these students are enrolling at higher rates because the job
market has also become extremely competitive. These students are giving up their time and money to
raise their educational level. Many people have realized that education is a passport to a better future.
Without education, people may end up unemployed resulting in the possibility of destitution. More
and more students are finding it difficult to get into the classes they need to transfer into a university,
obtain an associate s degree or a certificate, due to the overcrowding of classes. Foster youth, who
already face great educational challenges, fall through these holes in the educational system.

Jim Jones and Tthe People s Temple
Jim Jones and the People s Temple Reverend Jim Jones was the charismatic leader of the Peoples
Temple, a religious organization that hit its stride in the mid 1970s. Jones and his Temple are best
known for the mass murder/suicide that was executed Guyana in 1978. Over 900 people drank
cyanide laced Kool Aid at Jones command, an action that Jones referred to as revolutionary suicide
protesting the conditions of an inhumane world (Stept). Someone watching Jones at work gathering
followers for the Temple and spreading the Temple s vision would never have been able to envision
the ultimate end of Jones reign. In the early 1970s, Jones was working on changing the world. His
goal was simple; he believed in equality for all. However ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jones consistency in his vision and dedication to Jonestown were his biggest strength in his
management of trust. His followers were able to trust him because of his unwavering belief in his
vision and opinions. Jones also always had strong management of self. In his youth, he discovered his
natural speaking skill and his ability to manipulate. Over time, he worked toward developing these
talents and used them extensively to spread his vision. He knew his talents so well that he was even
able to choose his most efficient medium, religion, through which to push his vision. He was attracted
to organized religion mostly because it was a place where he could use his excellent oratory skills and
ability to coerce people into doing what he wanted them to, and therefore served as the best vehicle for
his goal of social change (Wikipedia). Out of Bennis ten competencies of dynamic leaders, Jim Jones
strongly exhibits four. The trait of self knowledge and the competency of management of self are
defined almost identically, so the previously discussed qualities that give him strong self management
are the same qualities that exemplify his strong self knowledge. Jones was also a risk taker, which is
obvious is almost every serious decision he ever made. He created what was essentially a brand new
branch of religion. He rented 4000 acres of land in Guyana with the goal that people would choose to
spend their lives there, but without any real commitment from

Symbolism In When Wise Blood
Symbols are extremely important in any novel, as they give characters a deeper understanding as we
read. When a novel is created into a movie, some symbols are not shown or not expressed as much as
they were in the book. This can cause for the characters in the movie to seem less complete than as
they were in the novel. When Wise Blood was made into a movie the director, John Huston, left out,
or did not express some key symbols such as Haze s mother s glasses and the bible, the white hat, and
the car. John Huston s lack of emphasis on the symbols of Haze s mother s glasses and the Bible, the
white hat, and the car caused for Haze to be not completely understood in the movie as he was in the
novel.
The lack of Haze s mother s glasses and the Bible left a gap in Haze that can help us better understand
him in the movie. Haze s mother s glasses and the Bible were a symbol of home for Haze. Darby
Adams writes, The only things from Eastrod he took into the army with him were a black Bible and a
pair of silver rimmed spectacles that had belonged to his mother. These symbols also show religion for

The lack of emphasis on the Essex in the movie caused for Haze to seem as if he was not free. Chris
Heller writes about how Essex is Haze s freedom by writing This car ll get me anywhere I want to go.
It may stop here and there but it won t stop permanent . However, in the movie the Essex seems to be
just a car, but Haze continues to talk about how the Essex is still a good car. After Haze loses his car in
both the novel and the movie, Haze feels as if he has nothing to live for and begins to go into a
depressed state of mind. The symbol for independence and freedom in the novel was not expressed the
same as it was in the movie, which caused for Haze to seem as if he was trapped in the city of

Impact Tip Position
2) Correctly position the impact tip in the center of the head and establish the zero point before
impacting. Unlike open head injury, the impact tip positioning is relatively difficult. First, the size of
the impact tip and the impact center affect the injury degree and lesions. An optimized 9mm tip is used
in this protocol. Based on mouse brain anatomy, the impact center is designed to correspond to the
central sagittal suture midway between coronal and lambdoid sutures. To positioning a correct injury
site, the impact tip must be adjusted to the target coordinates above the sagittal suture midway and one
edge of the impact tip must be vertical parallel to an imaginary horizontal line drawn between the two
ears. Due to the 9mm diameter

Comparing Calypso And The Odyssey The two compositions, Calypso by Suzanne Vega and The Odyssey by Homer, are two different ways of telling the story about the relationship between Calypso and Odysseus. In each piece Calypso is very similar, yet very different. The song, Calypso, is a about Calypso letting Odysseus go. It seems she believes that she kept him all that time and she needs to let him leave. Calypso says, I will stand upon the shore with a clean heart, when she says with a clean heart , she refers to her decision that she is going to let Odysseus go and be free. Repeating the phrase I let him go at the end of every stanza can be noticed by one in the song. The repetitiveness shows that Calypso may be regretting her decision, but also knows she must do it. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Internment of Japanese Americans in World War II Essay On December 7, 1941, the Empire of Japan attacked the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor, bringing the United States into World War II (Prange et al., 1981: p.174). On February 19, 1942, United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt issued Executive Order 9066 authorizing the Secretary of War and Military Commanders to prescribe areas of land as excludable military zones (Roosevelt, 1942). Effectively, this order sanctioned the identification, deportation, and internment of innocent Japanese Americans in War Relocation Camps across the western half of the United States. Not only was WWII a war about political alliances and geographical sovereignty, but it was also a war about race and racial superiority throughout the world. Propagating this idea, Dower (1986) argues, World War Two contributed immeasurably not only to a sharpened awareness of racism within the United States, but also to more radical demands and militant tactics on the part of the victims of discrimination (War Without Mercy: p.5). In elucidating the racial motivations and fallout from WWII, Dower helps one realize the critical role that race and racial politics played during the war and are still at play in our contemporary world. An analysis of this internment process reveals how the ultimate goal of the U.S. internment of Japanese Americans and the United States subsequent occupation of Japan was to essentially brainwash the Japanese race into demonstrating allegiance to America. Startled by the surprise attack on their naval base at Pearl Harbor and anxious about a full fledged Japanese attack on the United States West Coast, American government officials targeted all people of Japanese descent, regardless of their citizenship status, occupation, or demonstrated loyalty to the US. • 7. Similarities Between Genesis And The Truman Show In both the Truman Show and Genesis there is a main creator. Christof, in The Truman Show, is the director of a programme that stars a man called Truman Burbank. Christof controls majority of the things that happen inside of the television program and within his creations. God, in the bible, created the world and everything that it holds. God has power over two people he creates in the story of Genesis. The product of both creators are also extremely alike, Truman showing a lot of qualities that Adam shows. The two creators differ in ways of control and their decisions made. Although they have differences, there are many parallels to how they handle their power over their creations. One of the main points of similarity include where the main story is the set. In The Truman Show, the director, Christof, creates a real building in the shape of a dome and names it Seahaven. In the bible God made a dome and named it sky. Both stories show a perfectly clean and perfect place for the main characters to live. The dome in The Truman show is shown to be a stereotypically clean, small American town. Similarly, the dome in the bible is shown as a beautiful place to live filled with everything someone living there could need. Both are wiser and have much more experience than they did when they came upon these places the first time. Also another recurring theme is the idea that eventually everything comes back. • 11. Implementation Of A Transitional Care Program Evaluation For a transitional care program evaluation, it is requisite to combine two separate theories to aid in addressing the problem of poor transitional care outcomes, the process of measuring outcomes, and the creation of recommendations for improvement. A middle range nursing theory, Transitions theory centers on the process of individuals transitions and addresses the barriers to and principles of successful transitional outcomes (Meleis, 2010). The theory is both descriptive and predictive, it can be used to further describe and define the problem of poor transitions and its barriers as well as identify outcomes that signal successful interventions in individuals (Meleis, Sawyer, Im, Messias, Schumacher, 2000). The indicators of successful interventions as defined by Transitions Theory can guide the selection of the types of outcomes to be measured by the program evaluation to ensure that outcomes that reflect transitional success are selected. Furthermore, the principles of healthy transitions identified by Transitions Theory will aid in the creation of recommendations for program improvement. Continuous quality improvement (CQI) will be joined with Transitions Theory in the program evaluation. Although originally developed by business managers, CQI is best known for its use in manufacturing settings, specifically in the automotive industry (Radawski, 1999). It is of paramount importance to organisations to demystify the factors which hold back the implementation of new ideas. Ideas include but are not limited to innovative concepts regarding new products, new processes and new approaches to management. One explanation for the failure of adoption ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This suggests that another barrier to implementation of new ideas is the loyalty an employee feels towards the organisation and how secure he/she feels in their position. There is strong indication in research conducted by Burris et.al (2008) that both loyalty and openness of employees to new ideas are affected negatively if there is a breakdown in the relationship between the employee and the supervisor. This observation is far more advantageous to organisations from a practical standpoint as encouraging strong working relationships between their employees and promoting loyalty to the firm can lead to positive outcomes in the field of innovation. Poor organisational culture with a lack of emphasis on innovation may deter the process of idea adoption. Research conducted by McDonald (2007) suggests that the mission of an organisation is pivotal in focusing employees to work to develop and adopt new ideas which further the mission of the organisation. He states that dedication towards a mission statement will create a more innovative work culture where employees are more likely to be open to accepting failure of some of the prototypes and work towards improving these models until they can be implemented across the firm. It must be noted how this viewpoint appears to be a remedy for the rejection of ideas due to risk aversion observed by Baer (2012). This theory provides a broader sense ... • 14. Analysis Of The Poem The Harbormaster By Frank O Hara To the Harbormaster : An Open Letter to God At first glance, it appears as though O Hara s poem To the Harbormaster is about a man sailing a turbulent sea, but there is far more to examine past the surface level of the poem. O Hara chooses to use the word vessel (14) in the poem. The Oxford English dictionary defines the word vessel in multiple ways. One is any structure designed to float upon and traverse the water for the carriage of persons or goods; a craft or ship of any kind. It is also defined as Said of the body, esp. as the receptacle of the soul and has origins in that context from the bible (OED). In Frank O Hara s poem To the Harbormaster, the harbormaster is actually a metaphor for God, which can be examined by unpacking the meaning of the word vessel, and illuminates the human experience of grappling with religion. In To the Harbormaster, the word vessel is meant literally as a ship. He uses nautical imagery all throughout: ship (2), moorings (3), tide (5), rudder (8), hull (10), cordage (10), reeds (13), and finally vessel (14). In this way, and for the metaphor of someone at sea throughout, at the surface level of the poem, vessel is used to describe a ship. However, when further examining the word vessel as meaning a body or receptacle for the soul, and the biblical origins associated with that meaning, one is able to find several examples to back up an alternate and deeper meaning. The Church has traditionally imparted how the Eucharist has originated at the Last Supper and how the initial society followed Jesus command to break bread in his name (Acts 2:42). • 16. Corporate Social Responsibility Of A Business The responsibility of a business goes beyond just turning a profit, they also have an obligation to society. The stakeholders; consumers, employees, the community and the environment, all have a variety of needs that should be met by the company. These needs can include things such as safer more affordable products for the consumer, fair wages and good working conditions for the employee, or environmentally safe production practices that cut down on pollution for the community. Meeting these needs is known as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and can have a profound impact on the company. Businesses, big and small, have an obligation to society to provide quality services while protecting the integrity of the environment and community surrounding them. This social responsibility can be broken down into at least five different areas that contribute to the success of a business. These are economic, legal, ethical, philanthropic and environmental. In order for these principles to work towards the success of a business fulfilling its social responsibility the company must first be profitable. This is one aspect that economists and businessmen can agree on regardless of which model of business they follow. Like her name Pontellier , which means one who bridges, it implies that Edna is in a transition between two worlds but not fully embedded in either. Her intent is to bridge the limited world of the mother woman to that of selfhood. However, not many people can recall the details of his personal life. Some may know that he was married, while others believe that he gay. Since there are so many discrepancies concerning William Shakespeare, it can no longer be determined what the facts are and what is fiction. The discrepancies that involve Shakespeare start with his father. John Shakespeare had come to live in Stratford upon Avon, working as a glove maker. However, John had a long line of jobs. There are so many possibilities that one must wonder if it is right to assume a date. Nobody knows if Shakespeare went to school or not. There are no records that Shakespeare ever attended school. However, since no records of anyone s school attendance were generally kept, there is no evidence against it. It is supposed, because he was the son of a leading townsman, that he attended the King Edward VI Grammar School in Stratford. Here, his education would have consisted of a thorough knowledge of Latin, logic and rhetoric and also history, which would have been mainly classical, (http:168.216.219.18).This could explain Shakespeare s knowledge of history for his plays. If William had attended school, it is probable that he left at about the age of fourteen. William had the example of his father s success and the standing of his mother as a gentlewoman to ignite his own ambition, and it was while he was young that his father was at the height of his influence. Then, the fortunes of his father mysteriously failed as he appeared to fall into financial difficulties which led him to default on his attendance at council meetings. As for William, it is very likely that he became apprenticed to his father s business. This is because it was the custom for young men, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. The Importance Of Recess In Schools Across America school districts continue negotiating as to whether or not recess is an essential part of a child s school day. Recently there has been pressure to increase test scores in the United States. Consequently, recess is being cut or reduced in order to provide children with additional instructional time, but are breaks necessary for active learning? Recess is also a liability issue for schools since the environment is more relaxed and more exposed to the outside world. Ever since we can remember recess has been a vital part of the school day, but should that change? Will cutting recess improve children s test scores? This all started approximately five to ten years ago when nearly half of the schools in the United States began to lessen recess time or even cut it entirely (Dills 890). Some schools are not even building playgrounds anymore (Schachter 37). This occurred because of the push to increase test scores and the incentives that go along with it. The higher the test scores, the more funding schools receive. Therefore, schools are making sacrifices and doing the best that they can in order to receive as much funding possible. A school cannot be run properly without sufficient support so cutting recess if it in fact improves test scores is justifiable. As Anthony Pellegrini wrote in his book, to adults recess is just playtime and has no actual value, but for kid s recess is important (181). This remains the reason numerous districts are questioning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Volti, (2012), job security is an important factor is people s satisfaction in life and on the job (p. 199), and with the threat of anyone or thing taking over is extremely unsettling. During the Industrial Revolution, people saw technology advancing and replacing people in factories which enhanced fears of a complete take over. Decades have passed and we have not seen the overtaking by these machines because the machines are dependent on human maintenance and programing, but with the fast, exponential rate of the advancement of artificial intelligence, will technology finally encroach on most positions now held by humans? There are arguments on both sides of the line, some stating new positions will be created with the help of technology, others say humans are doomed and the robot takeover is closer than we think. Whichever side of the line they lean towards, one thing they all agree upon is that robots, artificial intelligence will be a common site in most all fascist of society. Arntz, Gregory and Zierahn (2017), believe current statistics, stating up to half of all jobs are at risk of takeover by automation, do not consider tasks and jobs that will be created to assist technology (p. 157). • 36. How Consciousness Can Be Changed Essay Consciousness is only possible through change; change is only possible through movement. Aldous Huxley In order to understand how consciousness can be changed, we first had to learn what consciousness is and where it resides, if anywhere specific. For instance, some theories state consciousness resides within the visual hierarchy system, while others pinpoint its location to a specific brain structure known as the claustrum. Even still, researchers debate on whether consciousness, or the state of being aware of oneself, even has a home at all. It is possible it is just the workings of many brain structures or neurons working together, something more of a product than a mechanism on its own. Regardless if there is agreement on how to define consciousness or self consciousness and where it derives from, all can agree that various methods in life have the possibility to change one s conscious state. Many activities in life, both accidental and intentional, lead to changes in conscious states. • 37. Gross Domestic Product ( Gdp ) Of A Nation Gross Domestic Product Gross domestic product (GDP) of a nation is comprised of four primary components. These components; consumption, investment, government spending and net exports are the measure of the monetary value of all the finished goods and services produced within a country s borders in over a given period of time. This can be broken down in any time frame but is normally used quarterly and annually. The GDP can be calculated as; GDP (Y) = consumption (C) + investment (I) + government spending (G) + net exports (NX) or Y=C+I+G+NX. The key word here is finished goods and not all goods. Household consumption, one of the four components of calculating the GDP of a nation has a broad range of items included in it. With the exception of the cost of buying a used house, most all durable and nondurable goods are measured within this. The money a family spends on goods and services include everything from haircuts to education. Durable goods would be vehicles for transportation and all of the items that one buys to furnish a home. Items big and small regardless of brand or cost are factored in this component. If one was to buy and new set of appliances for a kitchen and a broom to sweep the floor, they are both used in this calculation. If one was to save this money for a while longer it would make the overall GDP lower than if the items were purchased. Education is often thought of as an investment in ones future but it is considered consumption by means of an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While it represented an obvious step forward from employing hordes of people chugging away on adding machines and carrying stacks of paper all over the place, there was still a great deal of room for improvement. As time passed, computer capacity grew to enable the use of higher level development tools. These allowed people to define and encode business rules without needing to understand everything down to the basic wiring of the machine. True computer languages and programming frameworks followed. Probably the first report generation language was developed in 1959 for the IBM 7090 and known as 9PAC . At the time, storing and accessing structured data on computers was still in its infancy, and some concepts from 9PAC formed key parts of the development of early relational databases. Throughout the 1960s, companies invested in producing proprietary accounting systems tailored to their particular requirements. Jobs would be run in batch mode, often overnight, with only a select few permitted to see or access the computer directly (frequently, this did not even include the programmers!) However, computers continued to grow in capability, and the idea of building one generalized application with flexible features which could be customized to each client s needs became reality in 1973 with the introduction of SAP RF. Soldiers, volunteers, firefighters, and policemen are considered to be heros but heroism does not always need strength and wisdom to define a hero. Heros can be ordinary people that go out of their way for someone, someone that we look up to, or, according to Joseph Campbell, a hero is someone who is willing to sacrifice himself for others. While this causes major controversy, Fidel Castro is someone I consider a hero, a revolutionary hero. The Ordinary World According to Joseph Campbell, there are 12 stages of a hero s journey, although not all 12 stages are used. The first stage of a hero s journey is the call to adventure which means that heros must be removed from their everyday life to embark on a quest.
