Main Regression Results
A key part of their findings was, in part, by looking at the different kinds of prices that consumers
face when making a spending decision. In other words, they found that consumers spending
reductions (responsiveness to the HDHP) was largely in part due to their more salient response to
spot prices (defined as the fair marginal price at time of purchase) than to the products or services
true shadow price (defined as the expected marginal end of year price). To determine which primary
price resulted in the spending reductions, they conducted another regression analysis (Appendix 3).
This finding ultimately explains why the well off, sickest quartile of employees reduce their
spending the greatest, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because the sickest quartile for one given year may or may not be the exact same sample for
another given year. This quantile based approach also accounts for potential reversion to the mean.
One specific robustness check the authors considered was to account for the group of employees
(and their independents) that switched from the free health insurance plan to the complex non linear
HDHP sooner than the actual enforcement of the policy change. They conducted a differences in
differences approach to control for the effect of early switchers.
Conclusion Bottom line Message of Paper
Measuring the changes of health care spending is at the heart of health economics that aims to help
policymakers and large employers alike in their search to optimally design and regulate the health
insurance market. An optimal market such that it constrains the staggering growth of health care
expenditures without significantly reducing the quality of health care consumed. Within the US,
the authors find that the GDP has grown from about 5% to a confounding 17.4% in the past half
century. Brot Goldberg et al. seems to implicitly warn that such demand side policy changes like
the HDHP are likely to be counterproductive. The authors emphasize to their readers that the
government needs to recognize the limit of cost sharing coverage plans and focus more on the
supply side policies such as looking at how to properly

Nazi Ideology And The Nazi Party Essay
The leaders of the Nazi party made it one of the most infamous groups to lead a nation in history.
The horrible things done under their rule and with their stamp of approval has made the term Nazi
one of the worst possible. The amazing thing about the Nazi party is that many of the main aspects
of their ideology existed in Germanyeven before they formed or came to power. Some of the major
aspects of Nazi ideology such as antisemitism, the desire to expand the German empire, and the
belief in the strength of the Aryan race existed in Germany years before Adolf Hitlerwas a name
anyone in Germany would recognize. The most widely known aspects of Nazi ideology are their
hatred of Jewish people and their tireless efforts to exterminate the entire race during their rule.
This distinctly Nazi belief of antisemitism is not one that the Nazis created. It instead had existed
for several thousand years throughout Germany and all of Europe. As Stackelberg and Winkle
explain, The origins of the stereotype of Jews as immoral materialists can be traced to the
unwillingness of Jews to give up their religion in favor of world renouncing Christianity
(Stackelberg and Winkle, Anti Semitism, p. 2). This feeling of hatred towards Jews persisted for
centuries, especially in countries that had a majority of Christian citizens. There were a number of
people that continually perpetuated these anti Semitic views with the works that they published and
their actions towards Jews. A great

The New Perspective On Paul
The New Perspective on Paul is a view which reexamines the first century context in which Paul
wrote and thus certain messages he conveys in his Epistles. It challenges the traditional views on
various doctrines drawn from Paul s writings during the Reformation, suggesting the Reformers
were incorrect in their interpretations. While the New Perspective on Paul is certainly thought
provoking and even brings up some good points regarding historical context, the Church should
treat it with caution and not regard it as a replacement for the traditional views of justification,
righteousness, or salvation.

Dunn is also a proponent of the New Perspective on Paul. It was he who gave the name The New
Perspective on Paul to the view asserted by Sanders, while also adding his own conclusions
about Second Temple Judaism to the growing concept. In 1983 he published an article titled The
New Perspective on Paul in which he argued that Paul s problem with Judaism was Jewish
nationalism rather than legalism, in contrast to the notions asserted by the Reformers (Williams
What is ). Along with Sanders and Dunn, N.T. Write is also a scholar of the New Testament who
holds and supports the views of the New Perspective, albeit with his own additions. Twenty years
after the publication of Paul and Palestinian Judaism, Write published his own work on the subject;
What Saint Paul Really Said. What sets Write apart from Sanders and Dunn is his assertion that the
curse found in Deuteronomy 27 29 was still in effect against Israel in the first century, manifested
by the Roman rule of Palestine. It is this exile and curse that the Messiah came to end, in addition to
fulfilling the one and only Covenant, in the view of Write (Write, Justification 60, 95).
Thus...Pauline theology and justification by faith have less to do with the individual and their
problem with sin...than with the plight of the Jewish nation as a whole (Williams What Is ).

Puritans And The Pilgrims Research Paper

The Puritans and the Pilgrims: What made the Puritans different?
Many Americans are familiar with the two groups, Puritans and Pilgrims, but most don t know the
differences between them. The Puritans began a group of people that were members of the
Anglican Church. Their goals were to rid the church of any remaining influences from Catholicism.
They were mainly English Protestants of the 16th century who wanted to follow the Calvinist
model of religion rather than the ever present Catholicism. Several Puritans lost faith in the
Anglican Church and felt it could never be completely purified from all Catholic influence; as a
result they abandoned the Church and completely separated themselves from the Anglican religion.
These Puritans where referred to as Separatists. The remaining majority of Puritans inherited the
title of non separating Puritans, over time these two groups would become increasingly hostile
toward each other.
The Puritans wanted to remain a part of the English establishment, and work toward reforming the
church from within. All the while they immigrating to New England, they still held onto their
English heritage, and their main emphasis in forming a new colony was to be a biblical witness
so to say, the city on a hill . Their objective was to set a shining example... Show more content on

Although they still considered themselves English as well, they were determined to form their own
spiritual and political identities. Their faith put more of an emphasis on individual righteousness
before God, instead of the Puritan form, that put more of an emphasis on corporate and community
righteousness. The Puritans were energized as a group by the constant persecution of their faith. As
a result they developed an entire system for defining and explaining their doctrine concerning

The Subordinate Status Of Women
The subordinate status of women in America began with the premise of English common law
within Colonial America; these English social constructs within Colonial America were adopted
into the American legal status, thus playing a vital role in intimate partner violence against
women in America due to the implementation of the English doctrine that husbands are legally
able to physically discipline their wives and children if deemed necessary (Garcia, 2010; Gelles,
1997). Among the many constructs of the English law, the separate women s sphere ideology,
which designated a woman s place within her family as a private sphere (i.e. home and family),
while a man protected and provided for her through the public sphere (i.e. work and politics)
(Garcia, 2010). Although wifebattering laws have been passed since the Revolutionary War, they
have been loosely upheld and indifferently enforced due to the idea that wife discipline was a
private affair and did not require the authorities (Straus and Gelles, 1989). During the Victorian
Era (1837 1901), a new image of womanhood was founded and designated women as moral
figures that were too delicate and frail to engage in hard labor that most women (i.e. the lower
and middle class) were familiar with. Pascale and Schenome (as cited in Garcia, 2010) state that
this social construct would later be known as the cult of true womanhood , and could only be

Honor Society Application
I made my decision to attend Bishop State Community College after high school because it was
important to my parents and myself to have a great transition from high school to college at a
gradual pace; with the goal of eventually transferring to an university. I was extremely focus on
finding a career that match my passion in the areas of sciences and the years I would like to spend
on my education. I never gave a thought about looking into honor societies at my college. In fact, I
did not think I had the qualification to be invited to join any honor society; for Instant, I assume I
had to have a large resume of volunteering and had the assumption that my grade point average had
to be higher than a 3.5 grade point average.I also mistakenly... Show more content on

that I finally was able to narrow my list and decided from my love of physics and anatomy, that I
should declare radiology as my major upon transferring. My most memorable experience that will
forever stay with me, was the day my chapter advisor invited me to Phi Theta Kappa International
convention in 2012 in Nashville,Tennessee. Members who attended the four day long Honors
Institute and Leadership Conference were treated to educational forums, presentations on a variety
of topics, and special guest. We were welcomed by the international officers and Phi Theta Kappa

empowering to be surrounded with students from more than 1,200 chapter members from each

the empowerment of knowing I have endless choices of Universities and colleges after my
completion of community college and to know that their are other student like myself who also

The Glorious Day Of Abraham Lincoln
The glorious day of Abraham Lincoln born in February 12, 1809. Years went on and Abe grew
taller and more of a president. The day had come for the Election Day; and Abraham Lincoln was
running for president. He was elected and went forth as a great president. Some of the actions Abe
made many people angry. One person is known as John Wilkes Booth. He made him so angry; he
had the attentions of assassinating him. Day had come to when Abe was shot. The time period
was very happy and joy full because the war had ended. A week later, Abe was assassinated. The
environment in the north was very much depressing. People were sad and felt like they lost a
family member; because Abe was shot and killed. It also created much anger between the north...

From Abraham being killed; Andrew Johnsonwas up next in line to be president. That was a major
turning point. He made decisions Abe would have made which created problems and became very
disliked.
The first main personal to be a part of the assassination of Abe was clearly John Wilkes Booth.
He was the first person to ever assassinate a president in the history of the U.S. The plan Booth
had in mind was to kidnap the president. They were going to take him through back roads into
the town Richmond and have him traded from certain things. But before the play had started,
Booth had the idea to kill him instead. So he told his three other men who are Lewis Powell,
Herold, and Atzerodt what they last minute change of plans were. So he had each of those men
kill a certain member of the party. They were all going to strike at 10:15 P.M. Clearly, Booth and
his men were major key players in the assassination. The men also showed Booth routes and
back ways to help Booth escape like I mentioned earlier. Clearly, President Lincoln was a major
key player. He was the one who was getting assassinate; if he was never alive or president. None
of this would have happened and changed the future. He was also the one who upsetted Booth and
many other people. Abe wasn t liked that much; people actually didn t like him and seen how he
changed everything until he was killed. He being assassinated angered lots of people. It created

Pacific Ocean In Life Of Pi
Setting: The Pacific Ocean and Pi s Emotional State (5) The climax and majority of story in Life
of Pi takes place in the vast pacific ocean. The entire plot and conflict is created by the harsh
environment. At times the description of Pi s surroundings is reflective of his emotional and
mental condition. At a point in time where Pi is confused, scared, and vulnerable, unsure of
whether or not he would make it, his environment shows just that. Darkness came. There was no
moon. Clouds hid the stars. The contour of things became hard to distinguish. Everything
disappeared, the sea, the lifeboat, my own body. The sea was quiet and there was hardly any wind,
so I couldn t even ground myself in sound. I seemed to be floating in pure, abstract blackness...I

The inability to differentiate the surrounding features are representative of Pi s uncertainty of his
ability to survive, both figuratively and literally, as he can no longer make out the dangerous
predators he shares the boat with. The darkness and silence of the night parallels his newfound
isolation. With the loss of his entire family, the comparison between his emotions and immense
emptiness of his surroundings is quite apparent. This is not the only time where the ocean
provides an insight to how Pi is feeling and the state of his mind. In chapter 54 Pi spends hours
coming up with, and switching between plans, to eliminate Richard Parker. This constant
distraction and fluctuating ideas is paralleled in the way the rain and wind is reacting in the
chapter. Shifts in the wind changed the direction of the rain so that parts of me that were beginning
to feel warm were soaked anew. I

By making improvements to the Welfare System in America has become a way of life that has

programs. The Census Bureau recorded by surveys over 101, 716,000 people who worked full
time year around in 2011 which only allowed one member of the family to work year round. The

The welfare reform system s goal was to get people off the welfare system and onto the job
market. The hope was to move people from dependency to self reliance. Opposition to the new
welfare reform system has occurred. Some believe support in a welfare to work program might
create new problems for children by adding strains to family life or by exposing children to poor
substitute care arrangements for policies that design welfare to work programs that pursue the dual
goals of economic self sufficiency for families and healthy development of children. (http:/
/www.nga.org/welfare/employmentretentationemployed.htm).
Welfare policies aimed at improving family circumstances for both children and parents must not
make the error of focusing solely on parents; if the intention is to enhance the immediate and long
term development of both generations within the family, then policies must differentiate between
youth and their parents. These issues have brought about numerous debates. These debates have
focused on the welfare reform system. Still in the debate are the pros and cons of this new system,
focusing on the welfare of the child, the parent, the employer, and the taxpayer. Improvements to
the Welfare System will prevent fraud by allowing more than one family member to work; limiting
opportunities to receive a higher education; and providing opportunities to rise above poverty.
First, by allowing more than one family member to work will

The Automotive Industry Is Characterised By High Levels Of...
The automotive industry is characterised by high levels of uncertainty, creating difficulties for
companies to follow prescriptive strategies. Many factors contribute to this unpredictability.
Pertinently, the financial crisis created instability: between 2008 2009 the Western automobile
market worth fell by $300billion. Damaging profitability and cash flows, creating excess supply.
In 2007 worldwide production capacity of cars was over 70million although demand was less than
60million (De Moraes, 2016).
Growing environmental concern and pressures for car companies to undertake sustainable practices
has led to uncertainty (De Moraes, 2016). Movement in regulation and consumer preferences
towards environmentally friendly production has a cost burden (Hirsh, Kakkar, Singh and Wilk,
2015). Encouraging companies to misrepresent data; Volkswagen falsified emissions tests (The
Economist, 2015a).
Natural resource prices driven by regulative forces external to the automotive industry are another
source of uncertainty; 2009 onwards saw spiralling fuel prices, increasing the cost of
manufacturing and decreasing demand for vehicles (De Moraes, 2016). Conversely, current oil
prices are plummeting. When oil prices were high, consumers purchased economical vehicles.
However, lower prices have renewed demand for fuel inefficient larger cars. These cyclical trends
foster demand uncertainties (The Economist, 2014).
Car industries are domestically important, providing employment,

What Is Bradford s Use Of The Barbarians In Of Plymouth...
When people of two different cultures meet, they often have unjustified negative perceptions each
other. Such was the case of the Europeans and the Native Americans during the Age of Exploration.
Native Americans would sometimes attack the settlers and look down upon them in disdain. In
turn, the Europeans would fight back while also calling the natives savages. These hostile
exchanges frequently occur because their leaders think too much about the differences between the
groups that they forget the similarities in that they are all humans. Perceptions often change when
those of different cultures put aside those differences and begin to cooperate with each other in a
common goal. In fact, that is exactly what happened when William Bradford and his group of
pilgrims came to Cape Cod. Initially, there was an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In that book, he wrote his truthful thoughts of the world around him. When he first spotted the
Native Americans after he had arrived, he noted that these savage barbarians, when they met with
them (as after will appear) were readier to fill their sides full of arrows than otherwise (Bradford
8). In effect, his usage of the derogatory terms savage and barbarians demonstrates his disrespect for
their culture. Not only does he describe the natives as savage once, but he also continues to use that
term nearly five times. Bradford also uses many other words to characterize the natives negatively.
For instance, he writes that ...the Indians came skulking about them, and would sometimes show
themselves aloof off, but when any approached near them, they would run away... (16). In
describing the actions of the Native Americans, Bradford uses the word skulking, which has a
negative connotation due to its close association to cowardliness. In fact, by writing that they ran
away, Bradford implies that they are cowardly and afraid of the

Antitrust Laws And The Federal Branch Of The United States...
The role of antitrust laws has been the subject of numerous publications that have attempted to
provide a precise set of reasons and inspirations for their creation. However, there are still many
schools of thought on the subject and much debate over the effectiveness and legitimate
implementation of these laws. This paper analyzes the three main antitrust laws that the federal
branch of the United States government uses to try to restrict monopolies. This paper also looks at
antitrust laws in the modern business environment, and attempts to relay the information in a
manner that a newcomer to the subject will understand the concept as it relates to modern
technology and business practices. The findings of this paper indicate that the topic of antitrust
laws is more complex than many believe and, depending on the position of the person affected by
monopolies, the sentiment ranges widely.
Antitrust Laws The main purpose of antitrust laws is to promote competition in the markets by
preventing monopolies. They also protect consumers and other businesses from unfair business
practices and collusion among companies. The thought behind this is that consumers are hurt when
monopolies exist because they have fewer choices, the price is likely to be higher, and the services
being provided may not be very good. Turmoil in the national economy during the 1870 s and 1880
s necessitated the development of trust that would stabilize individual industries. This would later

British Immigration After 1945
Immigration became a significant part of society in the post war period, it redefined the public s
perception regarding culture and attitudes in society. Despite this, it is worth noting that
immigration was not a new phenomenon in 1945. Britain had welcomed refugees in the past,
notably the Irish who became one of the largest groups throughout the 20th century. Many
Europeans also sought refuge in Britain, for example German refugees who fled to Britain in 1930
; Peter Fryer notes on the existing black community in Britain since the 16th century. However, the
level of immigration after 1945 was enough to redefine British culture and created an exclusive
national identity by where Britishness is now recognised through the colour of your skin. Race as a
concept has also transformed, with culture being a major element in British society. Politics has
also had a major influence, with the introduction of immigration laws bringing equality among
Britain s citizens, although this could highlight the opinions of the public with the need for
legislation to be introduced. The economy thrived with immigration, noting on the Windrush which
allowed the empty gaps in employment to be filled. However, despite the progress that has been
made due to immigration, the reaction of the people wasn t always as positive, subsequently
leading to racial tensions and a lack of respect among the people for immigration. These aspects are
very significant when discussing the development of

Phantom Limb Pain: Characteristics, Mechanisms, Treatments
Phantom limb pain is the onset of pain following amputation of a limb. Stump pain and phantom
sensations are also common versions of this phenomenon. Phantom limb sensation includes any
type of feeling besides pain where a body part is absent and stump pain is specifically located in
the stump. All amputees experience some type of phantom feeling, but for some with severe pain it
can be very difficult to treat. The first person to describe this phenomenon was Ambroise Pare in

the issues that the residents taught by him leave the program or is lack of operation experience.

all thrive in this modern, densely populated street corner life. This interaction creates spatial and

hormonal link between RPL and infertility. Although the exact pathophysiology underlying these
disorders in relation to RPL and infertility is unclear, commonly accepted mechanisms of action

Diabetes mellitus
There are two types of diabetes mellitus: Type 1 diabetes (T1D) and Type 2 diabetes (T2D). T1D

used to diagnose PCOS. At least two of the following three criteria must be present before a
diagnosis can be made: oligo/anovulation, hyperandrogenism, and the presence of polycystic
ovaries.
Women with PCOS exhibit high LH levels and thereby have elevated production of androgens by
theca cells. Hyperandrogenism can, in turn, suppress FSH production, leading to ovarian
dysfunction, anovulation and infertility. The prevalence of PCOS in women with RPL runs as high
as 56% 79,80,81. Obesity coupled with high LH levels can hinder ovarian folliculogenesis and
increase the risk of miscarriage. Studies have also suggested an association among PCOS and
hyperinsulinemia/insulin resistance, obesity, and hyperhomocysteinemia. Hyperinsulinemia and
insulin resistance can negatively affect implantation by decreasing activity of cell adhesion
proteins. Hyperhomocysteinemia can also result in miscarriage because of its pro coagulative

Charles Frederick Worth, an influential designer, created the first fashion house in 1850 and is
currently known as the sole originator of haute couture (Koda et. al.).
With haute couture at its peak, the rising technological advances of the 20th century helped propel
the haute couture branch even further into an industrialized business. The sewing machine, which
was first invented in the Victorian Era, established a fast growing process of dressmaking in the mid
19th century and the early 20th century (Ahmad).
With added technological advances including factory lines and textile chains, the haute couture
manufacturing process became quicker, but never left it s original tailoring and dressmaking roots
completely (Major). During the manufacturing process of haute couture, the first step for the
designer is to create the design either sketched or draped and cutted with muslin or toile (Koda et.
al). In continuation from this step, the design is brought to life through the tailoring and
dressmaking sectors of the fashion house. Professionally trained artisans in these areas focus on the
cut, drape, and style of the design, using sewing machines, tailoring, or dressmaking techniques to
create intricate patterns and designs with expensive and authentic fabrics, wools, and furs
(Thomas). A full design piece may take up to 150 hours to complete (Rocha). Some seamstresses,
embroiderers, and other professional artisans defy the 35 hour

Differences Between Hamlet And The Lion King
Fairy tales have helped children deal with things they fear. Now a days, the fairy tales children are
aware are not the Hans Christian Anderson, Studio Ghibli or Brothers Grimm, but Disney. Disney
has taken the typification portrayal in the fairy tales, make it a reality and took it to entertainment
industry. Comparing the original narrative to the Disney version, most of the stories have went
through retellings and alternation; for example Hamletand The Lion King. Disney has inadvertently
neglected these stories origin and motive. Many agree and have picked up The Lion King,
Disney s most watched and victorious movie till date, as Disney s only original movie; the only
movie which is previously has not been a fairy tale. However, this is not the true. While The
Lion King may not be based on a fairy tale, it is a matter of fact strongly based on the play by
William Shakespeare called Hamlet . Disney creative writers adroitly disguise the basic character...

How Did Ancient Greece Influence Western Civilization
The Squeaky Wheel Gets the Greece Ancient Greece influence is the cornerstone of western
civilization. Without Greece much of the world would have been delayed in discovering and

Hippocrates, regarded as the greatest physician of antiquity, and other physicians created a
Hippocratic Oath in which a group of professional physicians upheld a strict code of ethics

the ideas of later physicians. Hippocrates believed that the body was made up of four liquids, or
humors , yellow bile, black bile, blood, and phlegm. He thought that for an individual to be
healthy or fight of disease, the four fluids had to be in balance inside the body. While this was
obviously wrong, it was still a prominent discovery at the time. The Greeks also contributed
heavily to biology, mainly by the work of Aristotle. He made countless observations on the
behavior and habits of the plants and animals in the world, and placed an emphasis on

from the lowest creatures up to man, based on their form. His observational methods set the
standard for zoologists and biologists after him, and have been a major influence on biology for

lived in Dublin her whole life in Dublin and has seen her siblings either leave home or pass away
through time. Yet she remains in the house that she grew up in, experienced the changes in
environment, changes in time, and the change in the people around her. She has seen her mother

Eveline feared what would happen if she just got up and left her father. She was the one taking

during that time, as it is written in On the Resources of Ireland Much of the public attention is at
this time drawn to the wants of the labouring poor of Ireland, and the great decay of her trade

her up. However this isn t a bad thing all together. It gave her the realization of what she truly
wanted in the end, and just because she gave into her fears, it does not mean she won t be happy

Plato s 1st argument for the Immortality of the Soul from opposites and Theory of Reincarnation
Plato s Phaedo is a dialog between Phaedo, Cebes and Simmias where Socrates gives some
arguments for the immortality of the soul. In this work, Phaedo tells us about Socrates final days,
who has been convicted to death. Great philosopher does not have a fear of death because he
believes that when a man dies, the soulstill exists even if the body perishes. Trying to prove his

People from these denominations do believe in concept of rebirth. But religious sects such as
Christianity, Islam and Judaism do not believe in theory of reincarnation. This theory is very close
to Plato and some other Greek philosophers who believe in the Immortality of the soul. As for
me, in some cases I do agree with Plato in Theory of Opposites. Undoubtedly, in our world we
can always find two opposite things, actions, etc. Small and tall people, healthy and unhealthy
people, sunny and cloudy day, hot and cold weather... But I do not believe in the Immortality of
the soul in general. To my mind Plato came to this conclusion due to the times he lives in. But
we cannot base our beliefs on what we want to be true; the truth can be found by weighing the
evidence for a given idea. Thus, he took what he knew to be true at the time and formulated his
opinions which were founded on that knowledge. I guess, if Plato lived nowadays, may be he
would approach to another conclusion. I do not think that Plato makes credible arguments for the
immortality of the soul. To my mind, his concepts were built on his desires. I mean, that life is
difficult and awkward enough without knowing of our mortality. There is inexplicable reality
that so many people struggle so hard and it seems so unjust. Let s take a simple example of a

Critical or Transitional Temperature
BASIC CONCEPT
Critical temperature: The temperature at which the resistance of a material suddenly drops to zero
is termed as critical or transition temperature.
Superconductors: The phenomenon of disappearance of electrical resistance below a certain
temperature is termed as superconductivity and the material in this state is termed as superconductor.
The resistance of a metal decreases with decrease in temperature and reaches a certain minimum
value but the process of cooling down a material in order to convert into a superconductor is very
costly and hence a lot of research was undertaken for this purpose. They have zero resistance and

magnetic field then the lines of induction at transition are pushed out of the material and this
phenomenon is termed as Meissner effect.
Application of strong magnetic fled results in breakdown of the superconductor and loses its
superconducting properties. Based on the breakdown superconductors are of two types, they are:
Type 1: Superconductivity is destroyed with the application of magnetic field greater than a certain

To illustrate, Merlyn had remembered to give him the proper smell for the nest for if he had
smelled of any other nest, they would have killed him at once. This illustrates how Merlyn
protected Arthur by equipping him with essential aromas to avoid injuries or ruination. Lastly,
Merlin in Le Morte D Arthur protects Arthur by causing the Archbishop to surround Arthur with
knights until he is accepted. The author states, that we let purvey ten knights, men of good fame,
and they to keep this sword which shows how Merlin counseled the Archbishop into providing
protection for Arthur. Nevertheless, Merlyn in The Once and Future King protects Arthur by
removing Arthur and transforming him back before the ants go to war. To further illustrate, The
horrible armies were on the point of joining battle, to dispute the imaginary boundary between
their glass trays when Merlyn came to be there. As far as protection, Merlin in Le Morte D Arthur
provides indirect protection through others; whereas, Merlyn in The Once and Future King
provides more direct or hands on advice. Direct protection, in my opinion, is better than indirect
protection because it is more reliable, and it goes through less people which lessens the chance of
alterations. Second of all, both Merlin in Le Morte D Arthur and Merlyn from The Once and
Future King provide advice. Merlin in

Gnosticism And Western Esotericism
Stephan A. Hoeller defined Gnosticism as a system of teachings based on gnosis: the knowledge
of transcendence arrived at by way of interior intuitive means . The Greek words gnosis is defined
by the Oxford Dictionary as a special knowledge (or wisdom) of spiritual mysteries . An individual
or group that possesses gnosis as a part of Gnosticismis labelled with the Greek word Gnostic.
Historical context indicates that Gnosticism was originally a Jewish esoteric (secret) spirituality
that assumed a Christian form after the coming of the Christian dispensation .
Gnosticism is a significant example of Western Esotericism. Esotericism (Greek root esЕЌteros
meaning inner) is the inner gnosis held by a limited circle of people, whose aims are individual
salvation through gaining gnosis. Gnostic principles are explained through myths, just like esoteric
gnosis is. Gnosticism in Western Esotericism originated in the first century of the common era....

While orthodox Christians believe that, through his suffering and death by crucifixion, Jesus
Christ performed his work of salvation from sin for all the followers, Gnostic Christians believe
that they themselves perform work towards their own salvation from ignorance through gaining

Messenger of Light and Logos (Greek word for reason ) of God). Hence, Orthodox Christians
believe in following ethics and moral codes in honor of Jesus Christ s sacrifices in order to join
Jesus in heaven, while Gnostic Christians believe in revelation of inner gnosis with guidance from

Characteristics Of Feudal Monarchs
Monarch
During the High Middle Ages, feudal monarchs began to exercise royal authority. Some succeeded
in centralizing power and built the framework for nation states, for example, Britain and France.
Monarchs play the highest economic role or social hierarchy under the priest. King John, for
example, was a clever, cruel and untrustworthy ruler. He caused challenges for his economy by
creating enemies with other rulers such as King Philip II, and Pope Innocent III. He even turned
away his own English nobles. John suffered his first setback when he lost a war with King Philip
II. He had to give up his land in both Anjou and Normandy. John then battled with Pope Innocent
III over selecting a new archbishop of Canterbury. He rejected the pope s nominee. This led to
the pope excluding and preventing him and his entire kingdom from participating in church
services. John had to accept England as a fief of the papacy and pay a yearly fee to Rome. On the
other hand, a potential benefit was the Magna Carta. It was a document John was forced to sign. It
affirmed a long list of feudal rights that gave rights to the towns people. It would also shape
political and legal traditions in England. Furthermore, it made it clear that the monarch must obey
the law.
Nobles
Nobles could both be men or women. Their economic role is directly under the monarch and side by
side with the clergy. Noblemen balanced an interesting combination of activities and responsibilities

The I Chose For My Close Reading Assignment Comes From...
The pericope I chose for my close reading assignment comes from Revelation chapter 22 verses 1
6. When reading this pericope it quickly obvious the genre is apocalyptic. In the few short
verses there is evidence of an apocalyptic genre such as the means of revelation. Verse 5 says,
Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal. This pericope is
apocalyptic because verse 1 is just one example of the means of revelation. The genre is also
apocalyptic because it has examples of determinism. The restoration of the New Jerusalem is
history moving forward towards a conclusion. The last evidence of this pericope being
apocalyptic literature is the division of history into the Old and New Ages. The entire pericope is
about the coming of the New Jerusalem, which is brining the old age to a close. Trying to find the
boundaries of the pericope it was slightly difficult, especially when excluding chapter numbers from
making the decision. Both chapter 21 and 22 talk about the restoration Godwill do, including the
New Jerusalem and heaven. If chapter 22 is depicting the Garden of Edenwill the garden be inside
of the New Jerusalem? The start of this pericope begins in verse 1 in chapter 22 because of the
slight shift that takes place. The shift is in chapter 21 the restoration was clear that it was the New
Jerusalem. Would John, the author, chunk the pericope as both chapter 21 and chapter 22:1 5?
While the chosen pericope starts talking about the

Similarities Between Byron And Kenny
Is change always a good thing? Byron and Kenny both change a lot in the book but, who changed
the most? Byron had the biggest change. He was mean in the beginning of the book, in the middle
he was helpful to Kenny, and at the end he became caring toward his family. Now, where should I
begin?
To start off, Byron was mean to everyone in the beginning of the book because he thought it was
cool. He was mostly mean to Kenny because he had a lazy eye and was easier to make fun of and
he was nice and wouldn t fight back. As soon as I looked at him Byron blasted me in the face
with a mouthful of snow. Byron did that so he could be cool, but that s not cool because he could
of hurt Kenny. You don t see me blasting my brother in the face with snow.
Next, after they went to Birmingham, Alabama Byron became helpful. He seems like someone
who wouldn t be helpful, but he sure is. By must have hit it a hundred times in that place where it s

He always picked on Kenny but now he s actually giving him advice and caring for him. Byron
caught me and set me on the floor. Before he would have just let him fall. Byron sat next to me
on the floor and put my head in his lap. I still couldn t stop, even though I was soaking him worse
than Joey ever drooled on anybody. It was real embarrassing. I m sorry, By. Shut up and if you
want. Byron cares for Kenny and let s him cry so he would feel better. After all, they are brothers
and care for each other. Maybe Kenny s good actions changed Byron s point of view because after
all, people change people!
Byron changed a lot. First he was mean, then he was helpful, and last he was caring. He was
always yelling at Kenny, then helped him live, then he cared about Kenny and helped him feel
better. Byron had a great big change of heart. Who knew someone as mean as him could ever care
about anyone. He learned and so can we so, Byron changed the most throughout the

Celie Argumentative Essay
1. The biggest choice Celie made was to move to Tennessee for a period of time. This turned out
well because she became more confident about herself. She built a pants making company and
stopped relying on her friends. Although she did not realize that she was not moving until Shug
announced that Us leaving... Celie is coming to Memphis with me (199), Celie was grateful for
leaving her husband and the toxicity of the environment. She learned to fend for herself and
reflected on her past. By having free time to come to terms with all the experiences she had,
Celie understood that they helped her build character and influenced her decision to stand up
for herself. 2. I was surprised when Celie denounced God and her religion for part of the novel. I
felt like she would have been angry, but still continued to write to him. Because religion is a
large part of the South and is ingrained into her, I assumed that she would forgive him more.
When she wrote, I don t write to God no more... [God] act just like all the other mens I know.
Trifling, forgitful, and lowdown (192), I was torn between pitying her and applauding her. I pity
her because she had too many bad experiences with men; on the other hand, I applaud her because
she started to question everything and became less dependent on people, and in this... Show more

One skill a reader can gain from reading this novel is understanding how the themes connect with
each other through the use of comparisons. Rather than make each topic a separate issue, the book
links them together to show that not everything is a black and white issue, but rather one that is
full of grey areas. Similar to untangling 5 pieces of string, trying to solve one of Celie s problems
cannot work without figuring out how it affects her other ones. Although I understood that the
novel s themes are hard to analyze and find a solution to, creating a simile to connect the main idea
helped me comprehend the hardships that Celie had to overcome to become

A Comparison and Contrast of Earthquake in Haiti and Chile...
Introduction There are about 15 tectonic or lithospheric plates on the earth s surface, which have
different size and move relative to one another over the earth s surface. As a result, the crust
around the boundaries of the plates bends or deforms, accumulating strong energy during these
processes (Briggs, 2006). When the strain becomes too great to bear by the crust in the future, the
crust will snap or slip causing earthquakes. As a type of geophysical hazard, earthquakes are
inevitable for mankind living on the Earth, which destroy tremendous buildings, and take human
life away. However, influences of earthquakes can be reduced if people take appropriate actions.

Precursor Pursuits
Earthquakes are inherently unpredictable. Even though many reports are published to illustrate the
relationships between earthquakes and other things, such as foreshocks, surface bulges, animal
behaviors. Reports about a variety of precursor signals are very hard to verify, because every
earthquake is unique. The following part will introduce some funds from scientist before these two

Haiti
Sarkar, Choudhary, Sonakia, Vishwakarma, and Gwal (2012) indicates that electron density and
temperature variation in the ionosphere might be precursors of earthquakes; they have some
interesting founds about these two things during the Haitian earthquake. There are several sensors
onboard DEMETER (Detection of Electromagnetic Emissions Transmitted from Earthquake
Regions) to survey the ionosphere. The electron density and temperature variation are studied using
the Langmuir Probe Instrument (ISL) (Sarkar et al., 2009, p.634). Based on the data from
DEMETER and ISL, Sarkar et al. (2012) conclude that the electron density of plasma in ionosphere
started increasing 5 days before the earthquake, and

Essay on Hiroshima by John Hersey
Hiroshima by John Hersey
The non fiction book Hiroshima by John Hersey is an engaging text with a powerful message in
it. The book is a biographical text about lives of six people Miss Sasaki, Dr. Fujii, Mrs.
Nakamura, Father Kleinsorge, Dr. Sasaki and Rev. Tanimoto in Hiroshima, Japan and how their
lives completely changed at 8:15 on the 6th of August 1945 by the dropping of the first atomic
bomb. The author, John Hersey, through his use of descriptive language the in book Hiroshima

In the book Hiroshima the author not only exposes the physical impacts right after the bomb but
also weeks and years after the nuclear attack. The effect of radiation caused by the atomic bomb
on people for most lasted for the rest of there live and often was the cause of the death and for
those who had children affected some of there children. One of the six people interviewed,
Father Kleinsorge who had only suffered minor cuts when the bomb had been dropped, a month
later they still hadn t healed and was suffering from high fever and abdominal pain and low
white cell count. But his character couldn t receive the one thing which would have probably
helped, a blood transfusion because with atomic bomb patients they weren t sure that if you stick
needles in them they ll stop bleeding. By telling the reader about Father Kleinsorge Hersey shows
the reader that the nuclear attack caused many people to suffer from radiation sick months after
the actual bombing and the irony is that one of thing that could save them could also kill them.
The author also tells us that by 1950 the incidence of leukemia in hibakusha (survivors of the
atomic bomb) was between ten and fifteen time above the normal, this was five years after the
bomb had hit Hiroshima. Hersey does this to show the reader that even for those that are lucky
enough to escape death and the terrible burns from the bomb they still are affected physically by

of the screams you hear at night, and enjoy the ride! All aboard the Queen Mary ship! Good

With at least 49 deaths, the ship definitely has some strange things going on, that cannot be
explained. The deaths that happened during the ship s history, is linked with the many spirits
that roam the area. The spirits of Captain Treasure Jones, John Pedder, Jackie continue to haunt
the passengers from time to time. There were some reports that Captain Jones loved to smoke a
good cigar and at times the smell of cigar smoke can still be detected. John Pedder s scream can
be heard from the door he was killed by. Jackie likes to play in the pool areas of the ship. Jackie
can be heard singing and laughing. Sarah can also be heard singing with Jackie. Shadow people
have been reported by people in all locations of the ship and at all hours of the day and night.
Many people have photographed shadow people. There are many theories as to what shadow
people are. Some believe they are possibly inter dimensional beings slipping between our
dimension and theirs. Others believe it is just another form of ghost. Whatever they are or
wherever they come from, one thing is for certain. When you see one you won t forget it.
Shadow people come in many shapes and sizes. People who have seen shadow people say that
they seem to have a strange smokey look to them. Balls of light have also been witnessed in
many areas of the ship. They are very solid in appearance, and can be seen in pitch black just
cruising along in the darkness. These can not be explained well, as there is no firm evidence
about it. Cabin B340 is the location of another vicious murder aboard the Queen Mary. There has
been a lot of paranormal activity related to this room, and so many requests by guests for new
rooms. Because of this, they have sealed off the room and removed the cabin number. They do not
under any circumstances rent this room out to guests. Guests who stayed in the room were

The Themes Of Empathy
Human beings are kind and caring in nature. They exude a sense of compassion towards each other.
This is called empathy. Humans care for one another and are mostly understanding. However, this
not always the case. Sometimes due to adolescence or pure cynicism. This lack of empathy can
cause challenges in social relations, rendering empathy of utmost importance. Hence, the
characterization of empathy is prevalent in multiple works, including text3 and 4. Text 3, a comic
panel, exhibits the lack of empathy in a simpler manner. It shows the lack of empathy through a
paranoid cynicist, a boy afraid of swimming who distrusts his lifeguard. It is later revealed that the
lifeguard is also a cynicist, complaining about how she s doing the job just to pay for university.
Therefore, this text shows the audiencehow the lack of empathy from both ends yielded a lack of
understanding. On the other hand, text 4, a poem, displays the significance of empathy in a
different and more complex fashion. It reveals... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

to get him and feels that he is unsafe anywhere except with his mom. He fails to empathize with

failure in this situations the lifeguard, Being the older person, she should have comforted him
when he said the water is cold. Even when he started crying for his mother she did not do
anything but complain about her job. This shows that she s selfish and very unempathetic.
However, in text 4, empathy is examined in a very different angle. The narrator is very
empathetic. He was not very optimistic but was realistic. He felt for people who loved him and
hated him. In the last stanza he has an empathetic tone as he gives his advice to the audience. To
convey the theme, both authors, used tone and mood to showcase the

Quotes From Hedda Gabler
Hedda Gabler: Character Analysis of Hedda Tesman Hedda Tesman is the main character in
Henrik Ibsen s play, Hedda Gabler. She is mysterious, mean, and manipulative. Most of all, she is
not content with her life. Perhaps one of the most intriguing qualities about the character Hedda
Tesman is the mystery that seems to surround her. Hedda rarely explains why she takes any of the
actions she does. Readers are able to see her actions and interpret them for themselves, but there is
little conclusiveness to her motives. The audience is left wondering what led her to do one thing
or another. Hedda admits to Judge Brack that even she does not know what causes her to behave
the way she does. She tells him, Oh, you know these things just come over... Show more content on

Elvsted address her by her first name. Those wishing to please Hedda, such as Judge Brack, may
do so by using her maiden name, Gabler, though Brack frequently just calls her Mrs. Hedda. The
fact that the play is titled Hedda Gabler , and not Hedda Tesman is another powerful indicator of
Hedda s inability to accept her role as a wife, specifically George s wife (Smith). Her role as a
wife is not the only thing Hedda finds herself unable to accept, but she also cannot accept her life
as it stands. Hedda is the daughter of the esteemed General Gabler, and is accustomed to a
significantly wealthier lifestyle than she achieves through marrying George Tesman. Therefore,
she cannot have all the luxuries she once knew. George has gone into debt just to buy her the
house and furnishings, though she did not actually want the house the way he believes (Sparks).
It is possible that Hedda also suffers from jealousy that she is not a man, and is subjected to the
woman s way of life (Schmoop). She desires freedoms that can never be hers as a woman, whose
duties are to simply compliment the life of her husband. As a woman, she feels oppressed, an idea
that did not gain substantial traction until the 19th century, making Hedda decades ahead of her
time (Isherwood). This could explain why she lives vicariously through Eilert Lovborg, a man who
has gained the very sort of

  • 2. Results. Main Regression Results. A Key Part Of Their... Results Main Regression Results A key part of their findings was, in part, by looking at the different kinds of prices that consumers face when making a spending decision. In other words, they found that consumers spending reductions (responsiveness to the HDHP) was largely in part due to their more salient response to spot prices (defined as the fair marginal price at time of purchase) than to the products or services true shadow price (defined as the expected marginal end of year price). To determine which primary price resulted in the spending reductions, they conducted another regression analysis (Appendix 3). This finding ultimately explains why the well off, sickest quartile of employees reduce their spending the greatest, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because the sickest quartile for one given year may or may not be the exact same sample for another given year. This quantile based approach also accounts for potential reversion to the mean. One specific robustness check the authors considered was to account for the group of employees (and their independents) that switched from the free health insurance plan to the complex non linear HDHP sooner than the actual enforcement of the policy change. They conducted a differences in differences approach to control for the effect of early switchers. Conclusion Bottom line Message of Paper Measuring the changes of health care spending is at the heart of health economics that aims to help policymakers and large employers alike in their search to optimally design and regulate the health insurance market. An optimal market such that it constrains the staggering growth of health care expenditures without significantly reducing the quality of health care consumed. Within the US, the authors find that the GDP has grown from about 5% to a confounding 17.4% in the past half century. Brot Goldberg et al. seems to implicitly warn that such demand side policy changes like the HDHP are likely to be counterproductive. The authors emphasize to their readers that the government needs to recognize the limit of cost sharing coverage plans and focus more on the supply side policies such as looking at how to properly ... • 3. Nazi Ideology And The Nazi Party Essay The leaders of the Nazi party made it one of the most infamous groups to lead a nation in history. The horrible things done under their rule and with their stamp of approval has made the term Nazi one of the worst possible. The amazing thing about the Nazi party is that many of the main aspects of their ideology existed in Germanyeven before they formed or came to power. Some of the major aspects of Nazi ideology such as antisemitism, the desire to expand the German empire, and the belief in the strength of the Aryan race existed in Germany years before Adolf Hitlerwas a name anyone in Germany would recognize. The most widely known aspects of Nazi ideology are their hatred of Jewish people and their tireless efforts to exterminate the entire race during their rule. This distinctly Nazi belief of antisemitism is not one that the Nazis created. It instead had existed for several thousand years throughout Germany and all of Europe. As Stackelberg and Winkle explain, The origins of the stereotype of Jews as immoral materialists can be traced to the unwillingness of Jews to give up their religion in favor of world renouncing Christianity (Stackelberg and Winkle, Anti Semitism, p. 2). This feeling of hatred towards Jews persisted for centuries, especially in countries that had a majority of Christian citizens. There were a number of people that continually perpetuated these anti Semitic views with the works that they published and their actions towards Jews. A great ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The New Perspective On Paul The New Perspective on Paul is a view which reexamines the first century context in which Paul wrote and thus certain messages he conveys in his Epistles. It challenges the traditional views on various doctrines drawn from Paul s writings during the Reformation, suggesting the Reformers were incorrect in their interpretations. While the New Perspective on Paul is certainly thought provoking and even brings up some good points regarding historical context, the Church should treat it with caution and not regard it as a replacement for the traditional views of justification, righteousness, or salvation. п°Ђ Major NPP Scholars Their Publications E.P. Sanders authored the book which spurred the questioning of the traditional view of Paul s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dunn is also a proponent of the New Perspective on Paul. It was he who gave the name The New Perspective on Paul to the view asserted by Sanders, while also adding his own conclusions about Second Temple Judaism to the growing concept. In 1983 he published an article titled The New Perspective on Paul in which he argued that Paul s problem with Judaism was Jewish nationalism rather than legalism, in contrast to the notions asserted by the Reformers (Williams What is ). Along with Sanders and Dunn, N.T. Write is also a scholar of the New Testament who holds and supports the views of the New Perspective, albeit with his own additions. Twenty years after the publication of Paul and Palestinian Judaism, Write published his own work on the subject; What Saint Paul Really Said. What sets Write apart from Sanders and Dunn is his assertion that the curse found in Deuteronomy 27 29 was still in effect against Israel in the first century, manifested by the Roman rule of Palestine. It is this exile and curse that the Messiah came to end, in addition to fulfilling the one and only Covenant, in the view of Write (Write, Justification 60, 95). Thus...Pauline theology and justification by faith have less to do with the individual and their problem with sin...than with the plight of the Jewish nation as a whole (Williams What Is ). п°Ђ Major Tenets of the NPP The primary claim of the New Perspective is that Judaism in the first century was not a legalistic, merit based ... • 7. Puritans And The Pilgrims Research Paper Eric Swain Professor Wells HIS 121 9 August 2014 The Puritans and the Pilgrims: What made the Puritans different? Many Americans are familiar with the two groups, Puritans and Pilgrims, but most don t know the differences between them. The Puritans began a group of people that were members of the Anglican Church. Their goals were to rid the church of any remaining influences from Catholicism. They were mainly English Protestants of the 16th century who wanted to follow the Calvinist model of religion rather than the ever present Catholicism. Several Puritans lost faith in the Anglican Church and felt it could never be completely purified from all Catholic influence; as a result they abandoned the Church and completely separated themselves from the Anglican religion. These Puritans where referred to as Separatists. The remaining majority of Puritans inherited the title of non separating Puritans, over time these two groups would become increasingly hostile toward each other. The Puritans wanted to remain a part of the English establishment, and work toward reforming the church from within. All the while they immigrating to New England, they still held onto their English heritage, and their main emphasis in forming a new colony was to be a biblical witness so to say, the city on a hill . Their objective was to set a shining example... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although they still considered themselves English as well, they were determined to form their own spiritual and political identities. Their faith put more of an emphasis on individual righteousness before God, instead of the Puritan form, that put more of an emphasis on corporate and community righteousness. • 8. The Subordinate Status Of Women The subordinate status of women in America began with the premise of English common law within Colonial America; these English social constructs within Colonial America were adopted into the American legal status, thus playing a vital role in intimate partner violence against women in America due to the implementation of the English doctrine that husbands are legally able to physically discipline their wives and children if deemed necessary (Garcia, 2010; Gelles, 1997). Among the many constructs of the English law, the separate women s sphere ideology, which designated a woman s place within her family as a private sphere (i.e. home and family), while a man protected and provided for her through the public sphere (i.e. work and politics) (Garcia, 2010). Although wifebattering laws have been passed since the Revolutionary War, they have been loosely upheld and indifferently enforced due to the idea that wife discipline was a private affair and did not require the authorities (Straus and Gelles, 1989). During the Victorian Era (1837 1901), a new image of womanhood was founded and designated women as moral figures that were too delicate and frail to engage in hard labor that most women (i.e. the lower and middle class) were familiar with. Pascale and Schenome (as cited in Garcia, 2010) state that this social construct would later be known as the cult of true womanhood , and could only be accomplished by the upper class men who could afford for the women in their ... • 9. Honor Society Application I made my decision to attend Bishop State Community College after high school because it was important to my parents and myself to have a great transition from high school to college at a gradual pace; with the goal of eventually transferring to an university. I was extremely focus on finding a career that match my passion in the areas of sciences and the years I would like to spend on my education. I never gave a thought about looking into honor societies at my college. In fact, I did not think I had the qualification to be invited to join any honor society; for Instant, I assume I had to have a large resume of volunteering and had the assumption that my grade point average had to be higher than a 3.5 grade point average.I also mistakenly... We also had available though Phi Theta Kappa s website, informational college tools for students to help decide what type of school to transfer that will fit our two year pre requirement track and our declared degree. My best experience with my honor society is that I finally was able to narrow my list and decided from my love of physics and anatomy, that I should declare radiology as my major upon transferring. My most memorable experience that will forever stay with me, was the day my chapter advisor invited me to Phi Theta Kappa International convention in 2012 in Nashville,Tennessee. Members who attended the four day long Honors Institute and Leadership Conference were treated to educational forums, presentations on a variety of topics, and special guest. We were welcomed by the international officers and Phi Theta Kappa Executive Director. From that moment on, I knew the event would change my life. It felt empowering to be surrounded with students from more than 1,200 chapter members from each state in the United States, U.S. Territories, British Virgin Islands, Marshall Island, Canada, Germany, Federal States of Micronesia, United Arab Emirates, Republic of Palau, and Peru. It was the empowerment of knowing I have endless choices of Universities and colleges after my completion of community college and to know that their are other student like myself who also decided to take the route of community college; not because they did not do well in high school or previous colleges, but their choice of community college was for the purpose of the reasonable cost of tuition, and having a moderate pace of learning new objective and lesson during class, while also preparing student for academic transition into a four year ... The day had come for the Election Day; and Abraham Lincoln was running for president. He was elected and went forth as a great president. Some of the actions Abe made many people angry. One person is known as John Wilkes Booth. He made him so angry; he had the attentions of assassinating him. Day had come to when Abe was shot. From Abraham being killed; Andrew Johnsonwas up next in line to be president. That was a major turning point. He made decisions Abe would have made which created problems and became very disliked. The first main personal to be a part of the assassination of Abe was clearly John Wilkes Booth. He was the first person to ever assassinate a president in the history of the U.S. The plan Booth had in mind was to kidnap the president. They were going to take him through back roads into the town Richmond and have him traded from certain things. But before the play had started, Booth had the idea to kill him instead. So he told his three other men who are Lewis Powell, Herold, and Atzerodt what they last minute change of plans were. So he had each of those men kill a certain member of the party. They were all going to strike at 10:15 P.M. Clearly, Booth and his men were major key players in the assassination. The men also showed Booth routes and back ways to help Booth escape like I mentioned earlier. Clearly, President Lincoln was a major key player. He was the one who was getting assassinate; if he was never alive or president. None of this would have happened and changed the future. He was also the one who upsetted Booth and many other people. The entire plot and conflict is created by the harsh environment. At times the description of Pi s surroundings is reflective of his emotional and mental condition. At a point in time where Pi is confused, scared, and vulnerable, unsure of whether or not he would make it, his environment shows just that. Darkness came. There was no moon. Clouds hid the stars. The contour of things became hard to distinguish. Everything disappeared, the sea, the lifeboat, my own body. This is not the only time where the ocean provides an insight to how Pi is feeling and the state of his mind. The welfare reform system s goal was to get people off the welfare system and onto the job market. The hope was to move people from dependency to self reliance. Opposition to the new welfare reform system has occurred. Some believe support in a welfare to work program might create new problems for children by adding strains to family life or by exposing children to poor substitute care arrangements for policies that design welfare to work programs that pursue the dual goals of economic self sufficiency for families and healthy development of children. (http:/ /www.nga.org/welfare/employmentretentationemployed.htm). Welfare policies aimed at improving family circumstances for both children and parents must not make the error of focusing solely on parents; if the intention is to enhance the immediate and long term development of both generations within the family, then policies must differentiate between youth and their parents. These issues have brought about numerous debates. These debates have focused on the welfare reform system. Still in the debate are the pros and cons of this new system, focusing on the welfare of the child, the parent, the employer, and the taxpayer. The automotive industry is characterised by high levels of uncertainty, creating difficulties for companies to follow prescriptive strategies. Many factors contribute to this unpredictability. Pertinently, the financial crisis created instability: between 2008 2009 the Western automobile market worth fell by $300billion. Damaging profitability and cash flows, creating excess supply. In 2007 worldwide production capacity of cars was over 70million although demand was less than 60million (De Moraes, 2016). Growing environmental concern and pressures for car companies to undertake sustainable practices has led to uncertainty (De Moraes, 2016). Movement in regulation and consumer preferences towards environmentally friendly production has a cost burden (Hirsh, Kakkar, Singh and Wilk, 2015). Encouraging companies to misrepresent data; Volkswagen falsified emissions tests (The Economist, 2015a). Natural resource prices driven by regulative forces external to the automotive industry are another source of uncertainty; 2009 onwards saw spiralling fuel prices, increasing the cost of manufacturing and decreasing demand for vehicles (De Moraes, 2016). Conversely, current oil prices are plummeting. When oil prices were high, consumers purchased economical vehicles. However, lower prices have renewed demand for fuel inefficient larger cars. Such was the case of the Europeans and the Native Americans during the Age of Exploration. Native Americans would sometimes attack the settlers and look down upon them in disdain. In turn, the Europeans would fight back while also calling the natives savages. These hostile exchanges frequently occur because their leaders think too much about the differences between the groups that they forget the similarities in that they are all humans. Perceptions often change when those of different cultures put aside those differences and begin to cooperate with each other in a common goal. The role of antitrust laws has been the subject of numerous publications that have attempted to provide a precise set of reasons and inspirations for their creation. However, there are still many schools of thought on the subject and much debate over the effectiveness and legitimate implementation of these laws. This paper analyzes the three main antitrust laws that the federal branch of the United States government uses to try to restrict monopolies. This paper also looks at antitrust laws in the modern business environment, and attempts to relay the information in a manner that a newcomer to the subject will understand the concept as it relates to modern technology and business practices. The findings of this paper indicate that the topic of antitrust laws is more complex than many believe and, depending on the position of the person affected by monopolies, the sentiment ranges widely. Antitrust Laws The main purpose of antitrust laws is to promote competition in the markets by preventing monopolies. They also protect consumers and other businesses from unfair business practices and collusion among companies. The thought behind this is that consumers are hurt when monopolies exist because they have fewer choices, the price is likely to be higher, and the services being provided may not be very good. Many Europeans also sought refuge in Britain, for example German refugees who fled to Britain in 1930 ; Peter Fryer notes on the existing black community in Britain since the 16th century. However, the level of immigration after 1945 was enough to redefine British culture and created an exclusive national identity by where Britishness is now recognised through the colour of your skin. Race as a concept has also transformed, with culture being a major element in British society. Politics has also had a major influence, with the introduction of immigration laws bringing equality among Britain s citizens, although this could highlight the opinions of the public with the need for legislation to be introduced. The economy thrived with immigration, noting on the Windrush which allowed the empty gaps in employment to be filled. • 42. Characteristics Of Feudal Monarchs Monarch During the High Middle Ages, feudal monarchs began to exercise royal authority. Some succeeded in centralizing power and built the framework for nation states, for example, Britain and France. Monarchs play the highest economic role or social hierarchy under the priest. King John, for example, was a clever, cruel and untrustworthy ruler. He caused challenges for his economy by creating enemies with other rulers such as King Philip II, and Pope Innocent III. He even turned away his own English nobles. John suffered his first setback when he lost a war with King Philip II. He had to give up his land in both Anjou and Normandy. John then battled with Pope Innocent III over selecting a new archbishop of Canterbury. He rejected the pope s nominee. This led to the pope excluding and preventing him and his entire kingdom from participating in church services. John had to accept England as a fief of the papacy and pay a yearly fee to Rome. On the other hand, a potential benefit was the Magna Carta. It was a document John was forced to sign. It affirmed a long list of feudal rights that gave rights to the towns people. It would also shape political and legal traditions in England. Furthermore, it made it clear that the monarch must obey the law. Nobles Nobles could both be men or women. Verse 5 says, Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal. This pericope is apocalyptic because verse 1 is just one example of the means of revelation. The genre is also apocalyptic because it has examples of determinism. The restoration of the New Jerusalem is history moving forward towards a conclusion. The last evidence of this pericope being apocalyptic literature is the division of history into the Old and New Ages. The entire pericope is about the coming of the New Jerusalem, which is brining the old age to a close. Trying to find the boundaries of the pericope it was slightly difficult, especially when excluding chapter numbers from making the decision. Humans care for one another and are mostly understanding. However, this not always the case. Sometimes due to adolescence or pure cynicism. This lack of empathy can cause challenges in social relations, rendering empathy of utmost importance. Hence, the characterization of empathy is prevalent in multiple works, including text3 and 4. Text 3, a comic panel, exhibits the lack of empathy in a simpler manner. It shows the lack of empathy through a paranoid cynicist, a boy afraid of swimming who distrusts his lifeguard. It is later revealed that the lifeguard is also a cynicist, complaining about how she s doing the job just to pay for university. Hedda rarely explains why she takes any of the actions she does. Readers are able to see her actions and interpret them for themselves, but there is little conclusiveness to her motives. The audience is left wondering what led her to do one thing or another. Hedda admits to Judge Brack that even she does not know what causes her to behave the way she does. Those wishing to please Hedda, such as Judge Brack, may do so by using her maiden name, Gabler, though Brack frequently just calls her Mrs. Hedda. The fact that the play is titled Hedda Gabler , and not Hedda Tesman is another powerful indicator of Hedda s inability to accept her role as a wife, specifically George s wife (Smith). Her role as a wife is not the only thing Hedda finds herself unable to accept, but she also cannot accept her life as it stands. Hedda is the daughter of the esteemed General Gabler, and is accustomed to a significantly wealthier lifestyle than she achieves through marrying George Tesman. Therefore, she cannot have all the luxuries she once knew. George has gone into debt just to buy her the house and furnishings, though she did not actually want the house the way he believes (Sparks). It is possible that Hedda also suffers from jealousy that she is not a man, and is subjected to the woman s way of life (Schmoop). She desires freedoms that can never be hers as a woman, whose duties are to simply compliment the life of her husband. As a woman, she feels oppressed, an idea that did not gain substantial traction until the 19th century, making Hedda decades ahead of her time (Isherwood). This could explain why she lives vicariously through Eilert Lovborg, a man who has gained the very sort of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
