Nature Nurture Debate Essay
Crafting an essay on the Nature Nurture Debate is undeniably challenging, as it involves delving
into one of the most intricate and enduring questions in the realm of psychology and philosophy.
The topic demands a comprehensive understanding of both biological and environmental factors
that shape human development, pushing the writer to navigate through complex theories and
research findings.
Firstly, one must grapple with the extensive literature surrounding the nature-nurture discourse,
which spans across various disciplines, including psychology, biology, sociology, and genetics.
The conflicting viewpoints and evolving theories over the years further complicate the task.
Addressing the historical perspectives and tracing the evolution of thought on this subject
requires careful research and analysis.
Moreover, the essay should delve into the intricacies of genetic influences and environmental
factors on human behavior and development. Balancing the argument between innate
predispositions and external influences demands a nuanced approach. Writers must critically
assess empirical studies, consider the ethical implications of research methodologies, and
articulate a well-rounded perspective.
Furthermore, the challenge lies in synthesizing diverse perspectives, acknowledging the interplay
between nature and nurture, and avoiding reductionist conclusions. Striking a balance between
deterministic and interactionist viewpoints adds another layer of complexity to the essay,
requiring the writer to navigate through nuanced arguments and counterarguments.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the Nature Nurture Debate demands intellectual rigor,
research prowess, and the ability to synthesize complex information. It is a task that goes beyond
a simple exploration of opposing forces; it requires an in-depth analysis of the dynamic interplay
between genetics and environment. Nevertheless, such intellectual challenges offer an
opportunity for growth and a deeper understanding of the complexities inherent in human
development.

Kellogg Company s Annual Report Project
Introduction I chose Kellogg Company for my annual report project because I like
to work with a company that I familiar with. In other words, I like to do a project
on a company that carries products my family uses. I tried to order an annual
report from a few companies such as Apple, Pepsi, Toyota, and Kellogg. However,
I have not received any physical annual report copy from any other company yet. I
was lucky that the Kellogg Company shipped me its physical annual report. Most
other companies just provided me with their online annual report. If I chose a
different company, I would need to print out an annual report online that contains
many pages. It was easier to have a hard copy of the annual report so that I could
look for information and make notes, so I can go back to it if I needed to. Because
the Kellogg Company carries many kinds of cereals that my kids like to eat as
well as having an annual report printed out, doing the annual report project on the
Kellogg Company was the best choice. Information about the company Kellogg s

The Responsibility Of A Physician
The world is full of sick, helpless people, and there is one group of heroes that
provide assistance to those who cannot help themselves. These people are known as
Physicians. The people of America that maintain this influential title do not have it
handed to them. These hard working people work a long time to change the lives of
not only others, but themselves as well. The responsibilities physicians have, the
requirements to be one, the things they go through, and the rewards are why
physicians play such an important role in the world. Being a physicianis not a brisk

Emotions must be maintained during the hours of work as to not lose focus or
have an incident that could cause catastrophes. The road to becoming a physician
is a long process that separates the hardworking from the few who fell back,
despite the amount of effort. Much like other high paying occupations, future
physicians must do well in high school. Science classes such as chemistry, biology,
and physics should be taken along with core classes. English, Social Studies, and
mathematics are also very important. Striving to exceed is the goal. A Bachelor s
degree is to be attained from an undergraduate institution. While in college, plenty
of science courses should be taken and excelled in. After graduating college, and
attaining a Bachelor s degree, a six year long medical school is required. In order
to attend a medical school, the MCAT, or the Medical College Acceptance Test.
The MCAT consists of grades, letters of recommendation, exam scores, and
participation in activities. During the six years of medical school, a test will be
given by the National Board of Medical Examiners that must be passed (Field,
2017). In order to specialize in certain studies, more training is required in order to
gain the necessary skills. Before beginning work, a physician must be certified in the
state they plan to work in by taking an exam. Some states, in case of a move, allow
the transfer of certifications without
Hamlet And Spiegelman s Presentation On The Value Of
Life
Reading all of the article s that we had read in class I had realized that everyone
has a different value on life. Hamlet couldn t care less about what happened in his
life he just wanted to be gone, the victims families of 9/11 had thought that their
loved ones lives were worth more than what the government had calculated, Ebert
only cared about making himself and others happy, and Spiegelman had included
many presentations on the values of life in his graphic novel. All of the values in
life vary from person to person. Part of your life is struggling through the bad stuff to
get to the good stuff. Something to value most in life is when people cherish life no
matter what s thrown their way. Throughout all of these articles that isn t the... Show

In our lives at one point we have all felt hopeless, alone, or had had the thought of
just giving up. Throughout my life I have felt these emotions. I mean, who hasn t?
Being a teenager sucks, and I m pretty sure everyone has felt like Hamlet at some
point in their life. There have many times that I have thought to myself, Why do I
put up with this crap? I am constantly reminding myself that life is worth living and
you just have to deal with all this pain to get to the good stuff. There will always be
something in your way of happiness, you ve just got to heading into the right
direction, and eventually things will look up for you. I would also like to add this
in here because I feel like it is very important for everybody. You should always value
the time that you have with the people you love. You have no idea when will be the
last time that you will see them. Anything can happen in this crazy world, so be sure
you say everything that you have to say. Make those connections with people.
Hamlet does not value his life like he should. He is willing to just throw it away as
soon as things get bad. Trust me, I understand that he was in a very tough situation
considering that his father just died and he feels alone. But come on, throwing your
life away because you re unhappy with the situation that you re in is stupid. You
shouldn t do anything to intentionally hurt yourself. Life is worth
The Role Of Education In Waiting For Superman
One of Superman s famous quotes is, [The symbol] is not an S, on my world it
means hope. Hope represents the foundation on which children and adults cling to
day by day. People all across America wait for Superman to save them from the evils
in their lives. For the children highlighted in the documentary Waiting for Superman,
hope is the only thing driving them to achieve a commendable educationin today s
failing school system. Davis Guggenheim, an American film and tv director, produced
this documentary in hopes of eliciting a worried response for the future of education
in the United States. He reflects the individual struggles of students as well as a
general view of the education system through animations and the overall structure of
the documentary. Guggenheim urges the audience to notice the system s detrimental
aspects and take action in order to save our prospective students.
Animation: a dynamic visual medium produced from static drawings, models, or
objects posed in a series of incremental movements that are then rapidly sequenced to
give the illusion of lifelike motion. Within the documentary, Guggenheim portrays
clips of animation, specifically during moments when a great amount of facts and
statistics are presented. These clips are included within the film to break up the
scenes of real life footage. For example, Guggenheim uses hand drawn images to
make the claim that it is less expensive to send students to private schools than it is to
pay for inmates at

Essay on Making a Biogas Digestor for Ugandan Farmers
Introduction
For this project I am doing biogas, most farmers in Uganda don t make use of the
animal waste to generate energy for their household use. Having a biogas digester
would give farmers power which they can use for lighting and cooking. The digester
produces bio slurry which serves as organic manure for their crops. Therefore biogas
would be the most efficient and accessible form of energy in the rural areas which
constitute 80% of the population of Uganda since the animal waste is available to
them at no financial cost.
Defining the Problem
The population of Uganda is 35,918,915, eighty percent of Ugandans are farmers
(CIA World Fact book).Only 25 percent of Ugandans have access to the power grid,
the remaining 75 percent have to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having electricity in rural areas can also bring business opportunities to rural areas.
Education and health in the rural areas will be improved. This will result in
economic development and income generation for women. Rural electrification also
improves the technological view of the people because they will be able to learn new
techniques on computers which will improve their intelligence.
Solution
An ambitious target is needed by the government of Uganda to provide accessible,
cheap and clean energy to the 75% of the population. The government of Uganda
through the Ministry of Energy should subsidize the cost of the bio digester unit.
From records, the GDP per capita for Uganda is 1,500 Dollars therefore it is one of
the poorest countries in the world (CIA World Fact book). It is therefore very
difficult if not impossible for a household to be able to afford a bio digester
because a unit cost between 700 and 1000 United States Dollars (Kafayat
Adeyemi). There should be programmes on the importance of bio digester to the
farmers (savings, clean cooking, health benefits, green or sustainable environment
etc.). This will give the farmers a sense of responsibility and involvement in the
whole process. Donor funding should also be pursued. The farmers in rural areas
should invest in biogas digesters, a biogas digester would be useful because it needs
raw materials which are available to the farmers at any time.

Cognitive Control And Social Control Essay
Adolescence is categorized by psychological changes in relation to identity, self
consciousness, and relationships with others (Sebastian, C., Burnett, Blakemore,
S. J., 2008). There are two major aspects when it comes to adolescence: cognitive
control and social control. The cognitive control focuses more on supervisory
functions such as our working memory, decision making, self consciousness, and
attention distribution; while, the social control supports the individual being more
sociable, forming more complex relationships and becoming more sensitive to
acceptance and rejection by others (Steinberg, L. Morris, A. S., 2001). The
adolescence period of development begins with the onset of physiologically
normal puberty, and ends when an adult identity and behavior are accepted.
According to the World Health Organization (2006), this developmental period
occurs roughly between the ages of 10 and 19 years old. For my subject, I
observed adolescent seventeen year old, Caucasian male, Dalton. Our interviews
were conducted at a local Starbucks, always under the permission of his fifty one
year old father, Thomas. I observed Dalton through a social and physical lens and
related the theories of Erik Erikson, Lev Vygotsky, Lawrence Kohlberg, and Jean
Piagetto better understand his standpoint in development.
According to the World Health Organization s 2006 child growth standards report,
on average, a seventeen year old male is normally around 142.0 pounds and 69.0

Disadvantages Of Special Education
INTRODUCTION
The definition of special education in the encyclopaedia of children s health declares:
Special education refers to a range of educational and social services provided by the
public school system and other educational institutions to individuals with disabilities
who are between three and 21 years of age. Special education is designed to ensure
that students with disabilities are provided with an environment that allows them to
be educated effectively. Disabilities that qualify for special education include physical
disabilities, such as deafness or blindness; mental disabilities, such as Down s
syndrome and autism ; medical conditions, such as oxygen dependence or traumatic
brain injury; learning deficits, such as dyslexia ; and behavioural disorders, such as
attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and conduct disorders.

Pros And Cons Of Confederation
After the American revolution, America was finally their own free country of 13
colonies. The articles of confederation was our first written constitution of the new
United States of America. It was our first attempt to organized and establish roles of
the national government. Even though it was unsuccessful, it eventually lead to the
constitutional convention where it became enhanced and improved. The unsuccessful
article of confederation is now replaced by the newly improved constitution that is
still used today.
The article of confederation and the Constitution are both foundations in governing
the united states of the America. They had a set of rules that a government can and

The states have some power, but most of the power is given to the national
government, as for the articles it was the complete opposite. The states had all the
power, and the national government had very little. Under the constitution, there are
3 branches, executive which enforces law, legislative which makes the law, and
judicial which interprets the law. By having 3 branches this makes sure that there
was a balance of power, so one branch will not become more powerful than the other.
Unlike the articles, the constitution is bicameral consisting of the senate and the
house of representatives. Congress was given power to tax and regulate trade, in
contrast to the articles, congress had no power. Another difference is under the
constitution individuals are taxed by both the federal and state government, as for the
article, they are obligated to loan funds to congress when requested, no taxation
Regret by Kate Chopin Essay
Regret by Kate Chopin
In the short story Regret by Kate Chopin a woman called Mamzelle AurГ©lie has to
keep a neighbour s four children for two weeks.
Mamzelle AurГ©lie is an old and lonely woman. She has never had a man and lives
alone on her farm with some animals and Negroes working for her.
Because of a dangerous illness of her mother, the young neighbour has to leave and
couldn t take care of her children anymore. This is why Mamzelle AurГ©lie, who
has never ever has children before, has to keep them.
At the beginning she has great problems with managing those children. But after she

One example for this is that the action takes places within a short period of time,
which is quite precisely two weeks, and the place of action doesn t change; it only
plays on the farm.
You could also say that the story features an important and critical moment in
Mamzelle AurГ©lie s life and that there are just a few characters.
Another very important aspect is the symbol used in this short story. I suppose it is
justified to say that the children are the symbol uniting all different aspects in the
story. Before Mamzelle AurГ©lie had to keep the children she was leading a very
lonely life. As the children were living with her, her life got a sense and she became
a happy person. But after they left her she realized that she wasted her whole life and
regrets everything. Through those children all the different themes of the story like
family or loneliness come together.
Now this is the one hand, but on the other several typical aspects of a short story aren
t part of the text.
Already at the beginning of the story we get to know a lot about the main character
what gives you the impression of an introduction.
Additionally Mamzelle AurГ©lie isn t really an everyday person. She is very special
and represents just a very small part of the readers.
But all in all my opinion is that the story features many typical elements and you can
definitely call it a short
Tips In Fashion
Tips for Experimenting with a New Look
Changing your style can be difficult. The fear of the unknown is often stifling and
the initial feeling of something new can feel uncomfortable. But we all need to step
outside of our comfort zone at times in order to discover something new and finding
out who we really are as human beings.
So, if you are looking to update your style and do something different, here are a few
tips to help you get started. These tips will guarantee you experiment without fear and
while still maintaining a comfortable and personalised style.
Find your ideal fashion muse

To ensure you don t end up wearing colours that are not flattering, you might want to
try colour tests online to find those that suit you the most. You can find tests, which
help determine what colours are best for you. Pick those colours from the list you
haven t ever tried or which you didn t think would suit you.
Play with fabrics
You can also change your look by playing with different fabrics. You might be known
for your denim outfits. Perhaps you mainly wear jeans when you go out. So, pick
something different such as khaki. Steer away from the fabrics you normally use and
opt something different.
If you usually have a basic cotton blend blazer when dressing up, swap it to a velvet
one from Moss Bros. If you ve never own jeans in your entire life, then get yourself a
denim jacket or a pair of Levis jeans. Similarly to the colour thing above, you want
to go for the opposite and play with materials you don t normally wear.
You can do the same with patterns. If you always wear non patter suites, try picking
a pin stripe suit the next time. On the other hand, if your t shirts are and shirts are
always patterned, consider opting for simple coloured shirts instead.
Find somewhere new to shop
Sometimes our sense of style is not just driven by what we think we like to wear
but the places we shop. Different stores often embrace different style and if you
always shop with the same fashion brand or retailer, you aren t going to end up with
unique style.
Keeping The Lines Of Communication
It s tough to realize that less than 5 years ago we were living in a country of plenty.
The U.S Economy had plenty of jobs, plenty of housing, plenty of security. With the
turn our economy has taken, it s easy to succumb to depression and despair. While
our whole country is having difficulty dealing with these hard times, you as an
individual could be taking it worse. Avoiding depressionin these hard economic times
is hard, but it can be done. Use these tips to help yourself and your loved ones from
losing control of your positive emotions. Communicate Keeping the lines of
communication open during hard times is the most important thing you can do to
avoid depression. When you feel down, it is an automatic response to close
yourself off from those around you. Letting yourself feel as if you have no one is
the fastest road to depression. Talking with your spouse and family members about
the hard road ahead will allow you to keep the problem from over taking you. Give
Thanks Sometimes it s hard to be thankful for what you have. If you or your spouse
has lost a job or had a reduction in salary giving thanks for still having at least one
job or one salary may seem hard to do. Depression can set in quickly if you aren t
careful and prepare yourself with the defense to fight it off. Let yourself realize and
be thankful for what you still have. Budget Yourself Not feeling like you have
enough money is another road to depression. Instead of feeling that you don t have

Everything on the menu is written in English. Each item on the menu has a picture
and its main ingredients. I notice that some Japanese diners are looking at a menu
which is written in Japanese. I guess that there are two editions of the menu. This is
considerate. Main dishes on the menu include sushi, tempura, udon, and sashimi, as
well as seafood and soup. Drinks include famous Japanese Sake and Shochu, wine,
cocktail, and some non alcoholic drink. I order Sashimi, salad, and vegetable
Tempura with rice and mushroom miso soup. When I am waiting for my dishes, I
notice that most of the waiters are young girls, but there are also some male
waiters. The chefs are male Japanese. The service there is good and efficient.
Waiters serve diners with smiles and often refill the cups for diners. Although it is
during the rush hour, they serve quickly. My dishes are presented after about 10
minutes. The dishes look nice with bright colors and delicate layout. The tempura is
crisp and delicious but not greasy. The Sashimi is fresh and

Impact of Titanium in Medicine
My family has seen the impact of titanium firsthand. My father had an ankle

have titanium. I like to joke that we are a bionic family. I find it even funnier, and
sometimes frustrating, that we beep at the checkpoints in airports. It is pretty
interesting that we can all relate in some odd and comical manner. Titanium has
proven to be a very useful and impactful mineral in today s world.

There is no more challenging use in this respect than implants in the human body.
Here, the effectiveness and reliability of implants, and medical and surgical
instruments and devices is an essential factor in saving lives as well as in the long
term relief of suffering and pain. Implantation of other metals represents a potential
assault on the chemical, physiological and mechanical structure of the human body.
There is nothing comparable to a titanium implant in living tissue. Most metals in
body fluids and tissue are found in stable organic complexes. Corrosion of
implanted metal by body fluids, results in the release of unwanted metallic ions, with
likely interference in the processes of life. Titanium is judged to be completely inert
and immune to corrosion by all body fluids and tissue, and is thus wholly bio
compatible.
The natural selection of titanium for implantation is determined by a combination of
most favorable characteristics including immunity to corrosion, bio compatibility,
strength, low density and the capacity for joining with bone and other tissue, known
as osseointegration. The mechanical and physical properties of titanium alloys
combine to provide implants which are highly damage
The Social Fabric Of Late Eighteenth- And Early

Jane Austen s novel is principally concerned with the social fabric of late eighteenth
and early nineteenth century England, a patriarchal society in which men held the
economic and social power. In an often satirical portrait of the men and women
attempting to gain a livelihood, Austen ironically points out faults in the system,
raising questions about the values of English society and the power structure of the
country. The novel is also engaged in an ideological debate that drives its plot and
defines the essence of its main character. The precise nature of this balance is not
necessarily clear, and despite what seems to be a happy marriage, it may not be
entirely possible to reconcile Elizabeth s independence and naturalness... Show more

Persuasive Speech On Alcohol
Alcohol guidelines are set clearly and the standard amount is stated clearly, yet 88000
people are killed of alcohol and 10000 people are killed of alcohol impaired driving
every year. Despite the large number of deaths caused by alcohol in the past years,
people seem to still continue in overtaking alcohol. There also seems to be an
addictionon alcohol and most people cannot stop drinking after their first try and
have slowly made it into a habit, drinking it at a daily basis, and people seem to
just forget/ignore the harms that the overdose of alcohol brings to us. I believe that
this is because they are still unaware of the consequences in overtaking alcohol, and
therefore I am going to clarify and show just how bad overtaking alcohol is.... Show

All it takes is willpower and determination. Since recovery is a long and gradual
process, don t give any excuses to yourself on drinking during recovery. That will
just make you addicted again, causing the problem to be even more severe.
Through this period of recovery, patients should avoid bad influences and
temptations which cause you to feel desperate without alcohol. Those will only
drag down your progress on the long pathway of recovery. If you have tried to
solve addiction in the past and have failed, reflect on your past experiences. Think
about what you have done wrong which has caused the failure of your plan and
avoid that. You want to be able to solve this problem as quick as possible, or else
the feeling of desperation for alcohol will slowly build up once more. Due to the
withdrawal from alcohol, there may be several mild side effects, including headache,
shaking, diarrhea, vomiting and so on, but it is all worth it if you can solve your
addiction in the long run, no matter how heavy the price is. Overall, to quickly
recover from addiction, determination is one of the key things which will help you
through this gruelling journey.
Conclusion:
Overall, we see that the consequences that overtaking alcohol brings is extremely
severe, and it can immensely harm us from different aspects, no matter health
decision making or family relationships. Therefore, we should definitely rethink
before getting our hands on an alcoholic
Benefits Of Being Vegetarianism
Why should humans be vegetarian?
More and more, some good quality meat is becoming very expensive. Since a can
of chickpeas is less expensive and easier to cook, a lot of Quebec College students
decide to take the meat out of their diet. Everyone should do like those people and be
vegetarian for the benefits that it as for society and the environment. This diet is
good for the human health, it helps save the planet and it helps save the animals.
First, there are many health benefits that comes with being vegetarian. In the Harvard
Health Publishing, the searchers describe the way that vegetarianism can help your
body. Compared with meat eaters, vegetarians tend to consume less saturated fat
and cholesterol and more vitamins C and E, dietary fiber, folic acid, potassium,
magnesium, and phytochemicals (plant chemicals), such as carotenoids and
flavonoids. As a result, they re likely to have lower total and LDL (bad) cholesterol,
lower blood pressure, and lower body mass index (BMI), all of which are associated
with longevity and a reduced risk for many chronic diseases. The major diseases
that vegetarianism can prevent are heart disease, cancer and type 2 diabetes. In
fact, vegetarians are 25% less likely to die from a heart disease than meat eaters. This
means that a lot of people could be saved with this diet. Personally, if I could do
anything to live longer and healthier, I would do it. Nowadays, we eat a lot of junk
food, and more and more people are dying because
The Effects Of Uranium On Society
This semester in ENGL 112, I chose to researcher the effects of uranium. I chose this
topic because I learned about the element earlier in the year while sitting in Physics
class. Uranium is a very interesting element that has been applied to many
applications in today s world. While in Physics, the class even had a debate on
whether uraniumhas affected society for the better or for the worse. My side in the
debate was that uranium has affected society for the worse. Uranium has created
many bad problems for the world, and it could potentially create more problems.
Uranium is a radioactive element that is the only metal on Earth that breaks down
and creates new elements. Before the element was discovered, it affected humans
while they were mining for stone. Some of the stone was even used to build schools
and homes. The radiation then affected the families and children throughout their
lives without them even knowing it. I feel that I did very well with the papers
leading up to the Position Paper. In the Research Proposal, I discussed all the
information about uranium I knew, such as, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Chernobyl,
nuclear... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My research included the effects that uranium and radiation has on humans, the
environment, and animals, considering that uranium and radiation are connected.
Another topic I researched was the elements created when uranium is broke down.
These elements can be even more radioactive than uranium itself, making them more
dangerous and toxic. Those elements, including uranium, can be used to create
nuclear bombs. Nuclear bombs and nuclear explosions cause years of recovery and
rehabilitation for cities or even countries. The radiation also stays in the atmosphere
for millions of years because that is how long long the decay rate
Creating Cross Functional Teams For A Functional Team
Chapter Eight:
What is the key to creating cross functional teams in which team members put the
good of the team ahead of functional self interest?
A team is a group of individuals who works for the common goal and they contribute
to achieve a unique and common objective. Cross functional teams where members
come from different departments and backgrounds to achieve a common unique goal.
The cross functional team requires hand of top management support and commitment,
specific goals and incentives, Self Managed Team champion who acts an advocate in
making the team emerge as self managed team, adequate and necessary resources,
team composition, matching culture and structure, and sufficient team training. By
utilizing these factors cross functional teams can really perform well under all
circumstances.
The strategic to create cross functional teams are likely to provide them with all the
resources that they need and work wonders for them. They require members from
different fields that are expert in their domain areas and work effectively for the
achievement of the goals that are likely to be understood on their own.
Thus, cross functional teams can work better with the formation of it of the members
from different fields work together.
Teams are often credited with making better decisions than individuals, yet they are
also criticized for groupthink. What are some of the strategies for creating effective
teams that do not fall victim to the groupthink phenomenon?
Essay On The Movie Metropolis
Metropolis is a silent film about a modern city. The people are divided into the lower
class and the upper class. The people who belong in the lower class lives in the city
of workers and the people who belong in the upper class lives in the city of
Metropolis. This science fiction film was directed by Fritz Lang. He also wrote the
screenplay together with Thea von Harbou, who was also the writer of the novel
where the movie originally came from. This film was produced by Erich Pommer
and was released in 1927.
The film started with presenting both sides in that futuristic city. The city of the
workers, where the lower class work and operate the machines that supplies power,
and the city of Metropolis, where the upper class are living their prosperous life.
When Freder, the son of the master of Metropolis was in the pleasure garden, he
caught sight of the children with their teacher, Maria. Freder was mesmerized by
Maria. After the children and Maria went away, he decided to come to the city of the
workers to find her. There, he witnessed how the ... Show more content on

Theories And Rational Choice Theory
Introduction
This paper will cover two criminological theories and they will be applied to two
types of criminality. The two theories chosen for the paper were developmental
theory and rational choice theory. The two types of crimes that were chosen were
organized crime, specifically focusing on gangs, and terrorism. Then the crimes will
be compared and contrasted. Finally, the developmental theory will be applied to
organized crime to explain why and how it happens. The rational choice theory will
be applied to terrorism to explain what compels individuals to attempt this form of
criminality.

Terrorism has been conducted throughout the world on numerous occasions. The
groups that perform these actions come from multiple countries from all over the
world. The United States even has some forms of terrorist groups and individuals.
One of the biggest terrorist attacks was the destruction of the Twin Towers carried
out by Al Qaeda. Also recently there has been attacks in Paris and Great Britain,
which were ISIS s plan. The biggest terrorist organizations include the Taliban, Al
Qaeda and quite recently ISIS. The Taliban was founded in 1994, by Mullah
Mohammed Omar, and they kill people in the name of jihad. Al Qaeda was founded
by Osama Bin Laden and also kill for jihad. Finally ISIS was founded recently hand
continues to grow rapidly. They kill indiscriminately and how they see fit (Ppcorn,
n.d.).
Compare Organized Crime and Terrorism Organized crime and Terrorist groups are
very similar in many ways. They both are structured with well thought out
organization and are multi leveled, just like a corporation would be. Both are
involved with illegal business activities. This includes the smuggling and selling of
drugs, kidnapping, and human trafficking. The members of the groups are normally
deviant with their behavior. They consist or aggressive, violent, and dehumanizing
natures. They feel satisfaction from killing innocent people and striking fear in the

The Island Of Dr Moreau
In the film, The Island of Dr. Moreau, one could argue that the filmmaker s color
choice for the film is appropriate, considering most films during the 1970 s were
made in color. However, if the film were made in black and white, the depth of the
island and the complexes of the animalistic characters would feel less significant. In
this scenario, the coloring aspect helps by bringing more depth and detail for both the
beast men and the wildlife, which inhabited the island of Dr. Moreau.
The lighting in the film in its entirety is medium and balanced since neither cool nor
warmer filters were particularly utilized. Throughout the film, the low key lighting
that was used during the daytime with natural lighting remained mainly pre dominant.
Argumentative Essay On Baroque Music
Baroque Music The word Baroque was derived from the word barroco, which is used
to mean the period in which western region widely used music especially in the
nineteenth century to express how the European artist practiced the art. When the
historical happenings of the music in well explored, the critics who applied the
musical knowledge made it look strange and majorly sounded exaggerated.
Furthermore, ornamentals were initially used during the era of Bash and Handel.
After the brand of music had shed the connotations that were derogatory, baroques
became one of the mot simplest and convenient in the brand and one of the richest

Accordingly, the composers can start imagining about the inspiration the work of
music has done as well as the starting point of the artwork. Throughout the Baroque
era, the composers of the music earned a living through just writing the songs and
were fortunate to be included in the payroll thus perform the religious and political
works that they were presented with during the time. The needs of the institution in
which the work was done dictated entirely which type of music that would be written
by the composers. When the Baroque music has been fully used will dictate the way
the history of the music can be perceived by the people and how gently they would
be used to influence the belief of the majority of the people and how important they
are to the society.

Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde Differences
The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a book about a lawyer, Mr. Utterson,
trying to understand the relationship between Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Since Mr.
Utterson is interviewing people to understand Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde the novel
revolves around them. The two characters are completely different which makes them
having a trustworthy relationship is strange for Mr. Utterson to comprehend. Like all
people, the characters have mental differences, physical, differences, and moral

Like all people, the characters have mental differences. Dr. Jekyll has mental

There are many variations in health and illness across the world and variations within
individual societies. A variation is defined by the Oxford Dictionary as a change or
slight difference in condition, amount, or level, typically within certain limits . The
WHO identifies some of the factors that cause inequality and variations in health in a
society to be income, education, occupation, gender and race/ethnicity. For the
purpose of this essay I will discuss social class, gender inequality and education.
One of the main factors that influences health variations in the world is a person s
social class. According to the WHO, The conditions in which people live and work
can help create and destroy their health . In general, mortality rate and social class
are inversely proportional: the lower the level of social class, the higher the mortality

For example, maternal education is extremely important in both the developing
and developed worlds to ensure infant, child and maternal health. According to
Cutler et al (2006), well educated mothers are less likely to have underweight
babies, and their babies are less likely to die within their first year of life. The
parent child influence also works conversely as educated children have an effect on
the health of their parents. It has been shown that the parents of more educated
children are more likely to quit smoking (Field, 2005). An educated spouse can also
have a large influence on the health of their partner, for example Egeland et al (2002)
suggests that those with educated spouses have a lower mortality rate. This may be
due to the influence a spouse can have on the health behaviours of their partners such
as drinking and smoking (Monden,
The Boston Matrix for Cadbury s
The Boston Matrix
The Boston Matrix is a tool used by marketing managers to make decisions on which
products within their portfolio that they should market and under what category on the
Boston Matrix they fall into. There are four sections to the Boston Matrix, problem
child, stars, dogs and cash cows. Each category is different to one another as they
represent different products on how they are selling. The Boston Matrix can be
useful to a business like Cadburys as they have a wide range of products in which
they can separate to these four different categories. This can determine for Cadburys
which products they could possibly market.
The four different categories within the Boston Matrix are: * Problem Children * Stars

This had increased sales within the introduction thus having a high growth market
and high market share straight away with sales of 40 million within the first week.
The reason for his is due to the huge marketing campaign that Cadburys had set up
which led to a global rollout of the product on the September 24 1996 called Fuse day
.
Following from this the Fuse bar fell into the cash cow section. This is because
everyone knew about the Fuse Bar and recognised it. This left it with no new
potential consumers. This is why they were within this section.
Then the Fuse Bar went through the problem child section. This only lasted for
about a month or two. This was because no one really knows what had happened
but it is suggested that the Fuse Bar was trying to market itself more and fell into
having a high growth market and a low market share. Because the share had
dropped, it had potential to grow again so they re advertised again.
The last section that they were left it before they officially closed was the dogs
section. This is because after they pulled their advertisement the Fuse Bar didn t have
much attention given to it, which left it to decline within the market and not many
people were buying it either. This is why they were in this section at the end which

Pat and Tiffany are flawed in ways that are more common in human nature than we
discuss, or would like to believe, and offer more depth to the audience than the overly
stereotyped flaws of commitment phobia and unnecessary expression of feelings.
Silver Linings Playbook is shot through Pat s perspective in the present as he
navigates his life after he is released from a psychiatric rehab facility. Russell is
able to tell the story of how Pat arrived at the point he is at through flashbacks
triggered by his wedding song and through visits with his court appointed
psychiatrist. The storyline bounces around from different aspects of Pat s life;
problems at home with his parents, his running back to Nikki and away from his
new life, and dancing with Tiffany. The audience is whirled around following it all,
as if they too are a part of the obsessive craziness that is overwhelming and raw in
some moments and relaxed and comical in others. In these ways, the mental illness
aspect of the film that has completely shaken up Pat s life, is woven through for the
audience to understand, but is still not a glaring idea that is hard for people to grasp
or relate to.
Though the film itself strays from a typical romantic comedy, the structure of Silver
Linings Playbook does not. Romantic comedies usually center on a single person s
development through the assistance of their soon to be partner. The theme is stated
within the first ten minutes; in this case, it
The Transportation Industry
INTRODUCTION
Fraud is a pervasive and omnipresent threat in the modern business environment.
While the controls to help mitigate the risk have become increasingly sophisticated,
so too have the methods in which employees, managers and even third parties defraud
victim entities. While some industries seem more at risk than others it is important to
recognize the vulnerability that is common to all of them. One industry that seems to
be able to avoid the worst of fraudulent acts is the Transportation Industry. Through
use of time tested control methods and avant garde procedures to help mitigate
business risk, the industry is able to consistently place ahead of others in rates of
fraud occurrences.

An example is an airlines heavy reliance on real time systems to book flights,
manage flights, and make sure planes aren t flying into each other in mid air

The airline industry has recently been focusing inwardly on revenue growth, yield
management, and balance sheet strength. The permanent threat of terrorism creates
an element of uncertainty when it comes to an airline company s operations. There
are significant challenges to implement effective security and risk management
systems. Large investments in required infrastructures are correlated to these
challenges (PriceWaterhouseCoopers, 2014). There is also a strong demand for
public transport recently as a result of environmental awareness and congestion.
Railroads have difficulty meeting this demand because of a limited infrastructure
capacity. This public transport competes with roads for investment funds and many
planning processes for railroad projects take a long time to deliver

environment is challenging with a few specifics risks. Risks include increasing

should be called drivel? Alfred Kazin says that the poet s style is arrogant and slap
stick and that cummings is the duality of the traditionalist and the clown (155).
Others, such as Richard P. Blackmur, say his technique is an insult to the writing
profession. He says that cummings poetry would only appeal to those with a childish
spirit (140). It was Mark Van Doren, though, who probably said the truth about
cummings. He has a richly sensuous mind; his verse is distinguished by fluidity and

Yellow Wallpaper Influence
Wallpaper, in general, is never appealing, but usually most wallpaper does not make
one go completely crazy and lose their mind. Charlotte Perkins Gilman, the author of
The Yellow Wallpaper, created a wallpaper that did just that. The Yellow Wallpaper
is a short story about a husband and wife, who go to a summer house for the wifes
depression. John, the husband, is a doctor and is responsible for treating his wife.
His treatment for her illness is to keep her cooped up in an old nursery room with
hideous yellow wallpaper. The wife, who is also the narrator of the story, slowly
becomes more and more obsessed with the wallpaper pattern as she is forced to
stay in that room. The pattern, the wife believes, is taking the shape of a woman
trapped behind the wallpaper. The story ends when the wife completely loses it and
tears down the wallpaper in an effort to free the trapped woman. This causes her
husband to faint and she continues to creep around the room. Gilman s influence for

would be the last day of you or your child being alive. This is a major concern for

Some critical issues associated with childhood stunting are impaired cognitive
development, reduced intellectual performance, and reduced job productivity in the
future. Stunting has major effects on children all over the world and if it is not
treated at an early age, the effects are irreversible (Huicho). From pre conception to
the first two years of life, it is crucial for a child to get the proper nutrients essential
for their development:
One of the serious consequences of stunting is particularly impaired cognitive
development. When a child has inadequate access to food, their body conserves
energy by first limiting social activity and cognitive development in the form of
apathetic and incurious children. These children may not develop the capacity to
adequately learn or play. Then the child s body will limit the energy available for
growth (Zusy).
Malnutrition is one of the major causes of childhood stunting.
In a study conducted in West Madura Island, Indonesia, supplementation of lipid
based nutrient supplements were found to prevent stunting in six to twelve month
old infants. The researchers chose to study children of this age range due to the fact
that it s the age where children go from being breastfed to being fed solids. It is
crucial for children at the listed age to get the proper nutrients they need when they
undergo the transition. The study was Conducted on one hundred and sixty eight

Understanding A Problem And Defining The Real Problem
Understanding a problem and defining the real problem is a skill that can be applied
to many facets of life. In the workplace it is common place to have management not
understand their employees and in turn create a negative work environment. For
example, a labor crew may have years of combined experience, but it is
understandable that an inexperienced educated person might be placed in a
managementrole above the laborers. Without truly understandingthe environmentthe
laborers deal with, the inexperienced manager might see labor practices that are not
fully understood and find fault with those practices despite the years of experience
that went into the particular practice. (Modic, 1988) presents five tenets management
can use to better manage people. The relationship between management and
employee was studied to determine these five tenets and how they can resolve the
root of work evil.
The first tenet of people management according to (Modic, 1988) is, Focus on
performance, not personality. Modic goes on to explain, This provides a dialog that
can address performance improvement. (p. 1). The second tenet ties into the first
tenet of focusing on performance by providing a way to measure the performance.
Modic says, Provide a base line against which to measure later results, a key element
in the change process. (p. 1). The first two tenets are being used to focus on a
measureable component of an employee s performance rather than intangibles such
as personality. By
Megalomaniacs In Elie Wiesel s Night And Last Night
Simplistic complications that add up to mere first world problems can seem to be
microscopic road bumps, or they can measure up to unconditional acts of evil on
mankind. Megalomaniacs, who find pleasure through sadism, can only make most of
those issues worse. While there is a difference between breaking a nail and dying, the
potential for true malevolence is still existent in both. Although it may seem that
corrupt actions cannot bring out righteousness, that is not quite the case. At the same
time, closing down a chain restaurant may not sound like a significant moment to
someone who has undergone unspeakable suffering, but it could be the equivalent to
the apocalypse for another. In Elie Wiesel s Night and Last Night at the Lobster...

for support at the roughest of times. The only good that came out of losing his
family was that he at least had one member to thrive off of. They were each other s
entire dependence. The only reason why they fought for their lives. The only
reason Elie was able to survive. Elie s altruistic actions towards his father are what
allowed them to venture so far. That same hole in a family is left in Last Night at
the Lobster. Manny relies on his employees in a similar fashion to how family
members depend on each other. Without the support of his crew, the Red Lobster
would not be able to function. And to Manny, the Lobster s workers are his family
due to his excessive commitment to his job. When the chief executive officers
decide that Manny s chain is not reaching their standards, they make the order to
shut it down. This in some sense can be compared to Elie s family being split up.
For years Manny has put extreme amounts of labor to keep the restaurant running.
The only way he was able to do this was my counting on his staff to
Nora Ephron Research Paper
Nora Ephron was born in New York, New York on May 19, 1941 into a family of
writers. She lived in Beverly Hills and was the eldest of four daughters. She was

What Makes A Word Essay
Posted 30/05/2015 by Iain Campbell
What Makes a Word, a Word?
If a new word or neologism is not created by a lexicographer (the person who
compiles a dictionary), or any individual, then who decides what words will be a
part of the English language? The speakers of the language are who choose what
words are used and which are not. It s the day to day users of the language
introducing and maintaining words, this is what evolves and shapes the way the
English language is spoken and understood by the people who use it.
There are a number ways in which a new word can be introduced into any given
language, in this post I will focus on the English language and the techniques
commonly used to make new words in the language. Not only does a word need to be
created to be part of a language but it needs to be used as part of the language
regularly to be well recognised and accepted by the speakers, and there for an official
word in the language.
Shared Words
The first way a word can be made is through a different language sharing or
donating a word with another language or country. An English example of this
technique would be the word ninja which English speakers took from the Japanese
and now is sometimes recognised as an English word. Once the word is taken from
a language the pronunciation and origins of the word become lost with time and
people can forget or are not able to tell that the word has foreign origins. Similarly

The Importance Of Educating Hospital-Acquired Infections
Hi Dee, You did an amazing job creating your power point. You provided great
information on hospital acquired infections. I really enjoyed how you included
ways on educating patients to self advocate in order to prevent and avoid
contracting hospital acquired infections. The focus on preventing the spread of
infection is mainly geared towards educating healthcare professional and not always
on patients to self advocate. Both of my parents had their equal share of
hospitalizations as they got older. Every hospitalization that either one of my
parents had, I never once heard a nurse or any healthcare professional offer my
parents hand sanitizer or a sanitized wipe to clean their hands priotr to and after their
meals. They also never offered

eventually expanded to other universities in the Boston area and then to eventually all
universities in the U.S. It then changed its name to just Facebook.com the next year
in August after the domain name of facebook.com had been bought for $200,000

Not Only Natalee Is Missing By Anne-Marie O Connor
When Natalee Holloway went missing her face was plastered on every television
screen to promote her being found. Some people wonder why white females make
national news more often than any other female or male for that matter. In the
argumentative essay Not Only Natalee is Missing Anne Marie O Connor tries to
explain how and why people make national news. O Connor s essay starts out based
on the idea that white females are the only ones that make national news, but her use
of pathos, ethos, and logos, prove this idea to be based upon economic status and race
rather than genderalone.
The author uses pathos to appeal to the audience s sense of open mindedness about
women who make national news. O Connor tries to get the reader to realize how
being human can cause people to overlook certain stories and make them seem
unimportant. In her essay she states, We don t pay as much attention to someone
missing from a community we don t know or are not familiar with (661). This
quotation symbolizes how sometimes people can be overlooked in today s news.
The issue about who makes national news can appeal to more than just a sense of
open mindedness, it can also appeal to your sense of sympathy. When news
reporters get their stories, no one is for sure how long the story can stay lingering
amongst people. Earl Hutchinson, a political analyst, states, When you raise the issue
people say, This is a tragedy and we should do more, Hutchinson said. But it only
lasts a hot minute.
Persuasive Essay About French Food
I m craving for French food. Want to go get some?
That s one phrase I ve never had to answer simply because no one brings that up.
We don t go to French restaurants on a student budget because almost anything
with the word French attached to it is a tad bit overpriced. When I think of
enjoying French food, I think of men having to wear pressed suits and women
donning their glamorous dresses and high heels, then they need to have powdered
noses and carefully coiffed hair before being served food in very large plates but
with tiny portions. It s a cuisine of the elite but for something so highly regarded it s
ironic that French food isn t too much known compared to what people know of
Italian food.
To be honest I was a bit overwhelmed when we started learning about French food
thinking that it would really be difficult to grasp, and the terms were so hard to
pronounce, it was that one time that I realized a little too late that hors d oeuvres
weren t even pronounced as horse devours. In short everything was ... Show more

The question is to what extent to we really know Italian cuisine? Is it the ever so
present red sauce, oregano, thyme, olive oil and heaping amounts of cheese with
every serving?
This definitely doesn t even do justice to what Italian food really is like, in other
parts of Italy they don t even use the tomato sauce for their pasta dishes, just good al
dente pasta with a bit of garlic and drizzled with olive oil but it doesn t end there.
They have fabulous seafood dishes, meat and not to mention the wine. The food
varies from place to place and it is not always what we re used to. Not everything in
the menu is just about Naples, where the famous pizza originated. There s so much
more to Italian cuisine that makes it what it is and it s definitely not just pizza and
Typical Australian
The Australian Identity I am here today to discuss our Australian Identity. How do
you imagine a typical Australian? Maybe you see a blonde haired, blue eyed
surfing babe? Or a bushman who drinks Bushels tea and four X beers while
munching on some snags cooked on the BBQ? Or perhaps you see someone like
Steve Irwin, our iconic crocodile hunter. Or do you picture the movie Crocodile
Dundee? Australians are stereotyped and our typical Australian is usually imagined
to be male. (Click) Russell Ward, well known author, portrays his view of the
traditional Aussie as a practical man who is rough, tough bushman that holds true
friendship and loyal spirits. Today I will be analysing two poems and one play and

exciting climatic victory. In this poem, women and children are marginalised. The
bushman riders are men and during those times the women and children stayed at
home while the men worked during the day. The Man from Snowy River is a
ballad which reinforces the typical Australian Identity, as the rough and tough man
who is willing to take risks and challenges. The hero in this poem is brave,
resourceful and thrill seeking, displaying the qualities that Russell Ward describes
as being part of the mythical Australian Identity. (Click) The One Day of the Year

The Comparsion Of Tone In Cavafy s Ithaca
Both Cavafy and Chahine s alter ego went through the phase of loathing Alexadnria,
nonetheless, both of them had moved on. Cavafy s Ithaca is a sign of how he came
to understand that: for those who keep their thoughts raised high and their spirit and
body turned to rare excitement, the city can become the impetus for a great voyage
that will lead them through pleasure and knowledge to an understanding, among
other things of their city s metaphoric significance in this case the reflection of their
elevated, adventurous spirit (Keeley 37).
As Cavafy spent more time in the city and matured there, he came to see the beauty
of Alexandria. After all the morbid poems he wrote about how he feels trapped in the

Adel and Tommy are separated by death while Sarah and Ibrahim are separated by

If the medication does not solve the problem, your doctor might adjust the dosage.
Your doctor might suggest alternative medications if you take nitrate drugs or have
low blood pressure. If you have liver disease or kidney disease, you might need other
treatment options.
Self Injection Medications
A self injection medication can be used to treat impotence. Alprostadil is injected into
the base of the penis. Phentolamine and papaverine can also be used as penile
injection medications. After an injection, you might be able to maintain an erection
for an hour.
Penis Pumps and Bands
A penis pump creates a suction that increases blood flow to your penis. After getting
an erection, a band is placed over the penis to maintain the erection. Your penis might
be cold while using a penis pump, and you might not be able to ejaculate.
Erectile Dysfunction Herbs
Herbs can be used to treat erectile dysfunction. Before taking any herbs, you should
ask your doctor if the supplements will interfere with any other health conditions.
Herbs may cause severe side effects in men who take nitrates.
Many men can treat their erectile dysfunction by losing weight and quitting smoking.

Illegal Immigrants Should Be Legal Citizens
Im mi gra tion The action of coming to live permanently in a foreign country.
Immigration has been an issue in the US for ages. Many feel the need to blame
these people for how our economy is, but I disagree. These people should be given
the chance to legally live in the US. Although they did enter illegally, they work
harder than most legal citizens. They want a better future and we should allow them
to have it. That is why I believe strongly in letting them become legal citizens of the
US.
I believe that illegal immigrants should be given the chance to be here legally.
Many families are torn apart because of deportation. Some mothers have been
forced to leave their kids alone here. This could end up with the kids in the foster
system if they have no family here. I ve heard many stories of how hard it is for
people to cross the border. All they want is a better future. That is what America
was built on. Immigrants coming here and looking for a better future. So why
should we not help those who want a better future? In stories that I have heard, the
husband is the first one to cross the border. He will find a job and send the money
to his family back home. After he has a stable job in the US, his wife will then
cross the border too. Sometimes they will bring their kids with them, and other times
the kids are left behind as crossing the border is not easy. Many families will keep
sending money back to their parents in order to help them. When you turn the TV on

Google And Coca Cola Code Of Conduct
Lixin Guo
JS3
Assignment 1.7 Every company has a code of conduct that defines not only the legal
minimum standards expected of its employees, but also how the employees should
behave to enhance the company s products and services. In a highly competitive
environment, it is especially important for the name brands to maintain their
reputation by strictly following the procedures that would provide the highest
product quality. To gain a better understanding of this topic, I have read the codes
of conduct of two global leaders, Google and Coca Cola, and I will provide my
observations and reflections on their codes.
According to its code of conduct, Google is a company that provides users unbiased
access to information, focusing on their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When an employee has a question related to the code, he or she can contact the
manager, a Human Resources representative, or Ethics Compliance . When a law is
violated, the employee can report it to a relevant government agency. Google
prohibits retaliation against anyone who makes a report and makes the Ethics
Compliance available in case of a retaliation.
Coca Cola is the most recognized brand in the beverage industry. It makes money
by selling its drinks in over two hundred countries. It also controls its own bottling
and distribution, which helps the company to be more efficient with selling the
products. From its code of conduct, it is evident that Coca Cola values integrity,
accountability, and honesty. Coca Cola wants its employees to follow the laws and
strive to make no mistake in financial reports. This is especially important because
when a scandal hits an organization, it affects people far beyond those who
committed the bad acts (Gunsalus, 46). The Code specifies that the employees are
expected to use the company s assets properly and unauthorized disclosure of
nonpublic information is prohibited, which attributes to accountability. Last but not
least, Coca Cola makes it an obligation for its employees to observe any violation of
the Code or the laws and honestly raise the issues before they complicate. These are
also the values that I think are the most important. I
Gothic Literature and the Writings of Edgar Allan Poe
Essays
There is one known very influential writing style called Gothic Literature. It is not
only considered to involve the horror or gothic element but is combined with
romance, superstition, women in distress, omens, portents, vision and supernatural
events to name a few (Beesly). The history and beginning of this era is not well
known. From a few writers came this writing style that has impacted the world. A
famous artists known for this type of writing is a man named Edgar Allan Poe. He
wrote many short stories and poems that include horror, gothic, and romance just
mentioned. Gothic Tradition was said to have started in Europe. Gothicism came

The Fall of the House of Usher is a story of sickness, madness, incest, and the
danger of unrestrained creativity. This is among Poe s most popular and critically
examined horror stories (Gordon). For example if you were to close your eyes
while someone was reading the story you would see the house decaying in your
imagination (Poe). From the start of the story the narrator s strange insufferable
gloom is introduced. He notes the darkness of his surrounding (Gordon). The
stories are very deeply described and felt. The next popular theme Poe uses in his
writing is romance. This is very general for all gothic writers. This theme was
actually a movement called The Romantic movement (Foster). This first began
around the end of the 18th century in Western Europe (Foster). This was
characterized by the emphasis on emotion, passion, and the natural world (Foster).
This writing style was known in the United Stated because of the works that Poe
did. One of his most famous works was a poem called Annabelle Lee . The poem
was about his wife who died of tuberculosis. She was only thirteen when she and
Edgar got married. In the poem the speaker argues about how the angels were
jealous of a happy couple, The envious Angels, he insists, caused the wind to chill
his bride and seize her life . He then goes on to describe how the love the couple
share is everlasting and unbreakable. The reader depicts images of purity, innocence

Nature Nurture Debate Essay

  • 1. Nature Nurture Debate Essay Crafting an essay on the Nature Nurture Debate is undeniably challenging, as it involves delving into one of the most intricate and enduring questions in the realm of psychology and philosophy. The topic demands a comprehensive understanding of both biological and environmental factors that shape human development, pushing the writer to navigate through complex theories and research findings. Firstly, one must grapple with the extensive literature surrounding the nature-nurture discourse, which spans across various disciplines, including psychology, biology, sociology, and genetics. The conflicting viewpoints and evolving theories over the years further complicate the task. Addressing the historical perspectives and tracing the evolution of thought on this subject requires careful research and analysis. Moreover, the essay should delve into the intricacies of genetic influences and environmental factors on human behavior and development. Balancing the argument between innate predispositions and external influences demands a nuanced approach. Writers must critically assess empirical studies, consider the ethical implications of research methodologies, and articulate a well-rounded perspective. Furthermore, the challenge lies in synthesizing diverse perspectives, acknowledging the interplay between nature and nurture, and avoiding reductionist conclusions. Striking a balance between deterministic and interactionist viewpoints adds another layer of complexity to the essay, requiring the writer to navigate through nuanced arguments and counterarguments. In conclusion, composing an essay on the Nature Nurture Debate demands intellectual rigor, research prowess, and the ability to synthesize complex information. It is a task that goes beyond a simple exploration of opposing forces; it requires an in-depth analysis of the dynamic interplay between genetics and environment. Nevertheless, such intellectual challenges offer an opportunity for growth and a deeper understanding of the complexities inherent in human development. • 2. Kellogg Company s Annual Report Project Introduction I chose Kellogg Company for my annual report project because I like to work with a company that I familiar with. In other words, I like to do a project on a company that carries products my family uses. I tried to order an annual report from a few companies such as Apple, Pepsi, Toyota, and Kellogg. However, I have not received any physical annual report copy from any other company yet. I was lucky that the Kellogg Company shipped me its physical annual report. Most other companies just provided me with their online annual report. If I chose a different company, I would need to print out an annual report online that contains many pages. It was easier to have a hard copy of the annual report so that I could look for information and make notes, so I can go back to it if I needed to. Because the Kellogg Company carries many kinds of cereals that my kids like to eat as well as having an annual report printed out, doing the annual report project on the Kellogg Company was the best choice. Information about the company Kellogg s world corporate headquarter in the United States is in Michigan. Its address, website, and phone number are as follow: Kellogg Company One Kellogg Square, P.O. Box 3599 Battle Creek, MI 49016 3599 Switchboard: (269) 961 2000 Corporate website: www.kelloggcompany.com General information by phone: (800) 962 1413 Kellogg company history Kellogg is a company that produces ready to eat snacks such as cereal, cookies,
  • 3. The Responsibility Of A Physician The world is full of sick, helpless people, and there is one group of heroes that provide assistance to those who cannot help themselves. These people are known as Physicians. The people of America that maintain this influential title do not have it handed to them. These hard working people work a long time to change the lives of not only others, but themselves as well. The responsibilities physicians have, the requirements to be one, the things they go through, and the rewards are why physicians play such an important role in the world. Emotions must be maintained during the hours of work as to not lose focus or have an incident that could cause catastrophes. The road to becoming a physician is a long process that separates the hardworking from the few who fell back, despite the amount of effort. Much like other high paying occupations, future physicians must do well in high school. Science classes such as chemistry, biology, and physics should be taken along with core classes. English, Social Studies, and mathematics are also very important. Striving to exceed is the goal. A Bachelor s degree is to be attained from an undergraduate institution. While in college, plenty of science courses should be taken and excelled in. After graduating college, and attaining a Bachelor s degree, a six year long medical school is required. In order to attend a medical school, the MCAT, or the Medical College Acceptance Test. The MCAT consists of grades, letters of recommendation, exam scores, and participation in activities. During the six years of medical school, a test will be given by the National Board of Medical Examiners that must be passed (Field, 2017). In order to specialize in certain studies, more training is required in order to gain the necessary skills. Before beginning work, a physician must be certified in the state they plan to work in by taking an exam. Some states, in case of a move, allow the transfer of certifications without
  • 4. Hamlet And Spiegelman s Presentation On The Value Of Life Reading all of the article s that we had read in class I had realized that everyone has a different value on life. Hamlet couldn t care less about what happened in his life he just wanted to be gone, the victims families of 9/11 had thought that their loved ones lives were worth more than what the government had calculated, Ebert only cared about making himself and others happy, and Spiegelman had included many presentations on the values of life in his graphic novel. In our lives at one point we have all felt hopeless, alone, or had had the thought of just giving up. Throughout my life I have felt these emotions. I mean, who hasn t? Being a teenager sucks, and I m pretty sure everyone has felt like Hamlet at some point in their life. There have many times that I have thought to myself, Why do I put up with this crap? I am constantly reminding myself that life is worth living and you just have to deal with all this pain to get to the good stuff. There will always be something in your way of happiness, you ve just got to heading into the right direction, and eventually things will look up for you. I would also like to add this in here because I feel like it is very important for everybody. You should always value the time that you have with the people you love. You have no idea when will be the last time that you will see them. Anything can happen in this crazy world, so be sure you say everything that you have to say. Make those connections with people. Hamlet does not value his life like he should. He is willing to just throw it away as soon as things get bad. Trust me, I understand that he was in a very tough situation considering that his father just died and he feels alone. But come on, throwing your life away because you re unhappy with the situation that you re in is stupid. You shouldn t do anything to intentionally hurt yourself. Life is worth

Hope represents the foundation on which children and adults cling to day by day. People all across America wait for Superman to save them from the evils in their lives. For the children highlighted in the documentary Waiting for Superman, hope is the only thing driving them to achieve a commendable educationin today s failing school system. Davis Guggenheim, an American film and tv director, produced this documentary in hopes of eliciting a worried response for the future of education in the United States. He reflects the individual struggles of students as well as a general view of the education system through animations and the overall structure of the documentary. Guggenheim urges the audience to notice the system s detrimental aspects and take action in order to save our prospective students. Animation: a dynamic visual medium produced from static drawings, models, or objects posed in a series of incremental movements that are then rapidly sequenced to give the illusion of lifelike motion. Within the documentary, Guggenheim portrays clips of animation, specifically during moments when a great amount of facts and statistics are presented. These clips are included within the film to break up the scenes of real life footage. For example, Guggenheim uses hand drawn images to make the claim that it is less expensive to send students to private schools than it is to pay for inmates at

  • 8. Essay on Making a Biogas Digestor for Ugandan Farmers Introduction For this project I am doing biogas, most farmers in Uganda don t make use of the animal waste to generate energy for their household use. Having a biogas digester would give farmers power which they can use for lighting and cooking. The digester produces bio slurry which serves as organic manure for their crops. Therefore biogas would be the most efficient and accessible form of energy in the rural areas which constitute 80% of the population of Uganda since the animal waste is available to them at no financial cost. This will result in economic development and income generation for women. Rural electrification also improves the technological view of the people because they will be able to learn new techniques on computers which will improve their intelligence. Solution An ambitious target is needed by the government of Uganda to provide accessible, cheap and clean energy to the 75% of the population. The government of Uganda through the Ministry of Energy should subsidize the cost of the bio digester unit. From records, the GDP per capita for Uganda is 1,500 Dollars therefore it is one of the poorest countries in the world (CIA World Fact book). It is therefore very difficult if not impossible for a household to be able to afford a bio digester because a unit cost between 700 and 1000 United States Dollars (Kafayat Adeyemi). There should be programmes on the importance of bio digester to the farmers (savings, clean cooking, health benefits, green or sustainable environment etc.). This will give the farmers a sense of responsibility and involvement in the whole process. Donor funding should also be pursued. The farmers in rural areas should invest in biogas digesters, a biogas digester would be useful because it needs raw materials which are available to the farmers at any time.

  • 10. Cognitive Control And Social Control Essay Adolescence is categorized by psychological changes in relation to identity, self consciousness, and relationships with others (Sebastian, C., Burnett, Blakemore, S. J., 2008). There are two major aspects when it comes to adolescence: cognitive control and social control. The cognitive control focuses more on supervisory functions such as our working memory, decision making, self consciousness, and attention distribution; while, the social control supports the individual being more sociable, forming more complex relationships and becoming more sensitive to acceptance and rejection by others (Steinberg, L. Morris, A. S., 2001). The adolescence period of development begins with the onset of physiologically normal puberty, and ends when an adult identity and behavior are accepted. According to the World Health Organization (2006), this developmental period occurs roughly between the ages of 10 and 19 years old. For my subject, I observed adolescent seventeen year old, Caucasian male, Dalton. Our interviews were conducted at a local Starbucks, always under the permission of his fifty one year old father, Thomas. I observed Dalton through a social and physical lens and related the theories of Erik Erikson, Lev Vygotsky, Lawrence Kohlberg, and Jean Piagetto better understand his standpoint in development. According to the World Health Organization s 2006 child growth standards report, on average, a seventeen year old male is normally around 142.0 pounds and 69.0 inches tall,

By having 3 branches this makes sure that there was a balance of power, so one branch will not become more powerful than the other. Mamzelle AurГ©lie is an old and lonely woman. She has never had a man and lives alone on her farm with some animals and Negroes working for her. Because of a dangerous illness of her mother, the young neighbour has to leave and couldn t take care of her children anymore. This is why Mamzelle AurГ©lie, who has never ever has children before, has to keep them. At the beginning she has great problems with managing those children. One example for this is that the action takes places within a short period of time, which is quite precisely two weeks, and the place of action doesn t change; it only plays on the farm. You could also say that the story features an important and critical moment in Mamzelle AurГ©lie s life and that there are just a few characters. Another very important aspect is the symbol used in this short story. I suppose it is justified to say that the children are the symbol uniting all different aspects in the story. Before Mamzelle AurГ©lie had to keep the children she was leading a very lonely life. As the children were living with her, her life got a sense and she became a happy person. But after they left her she realized that she wasted her whole life and regrets everything. Through those children all the different themes of the story like family or loneliness come together. Now this is the one hand, but on the other several typical aspects of a short story aren t part of the text. Already at the beginning of the story we get to know a lot about the main character what gives you the impression of an introduction. Additionally Mamzelle AurГ©lie isn t really an everyday person. She is very special and represents just a very small part of the readers. But all in all my opinion is that the story features many typical elements and you can definitely call it a short

So, if you are looking to update your style and do something different, here are a few tips to help you get started. To ensure you don t end up wearing colours that are not flattering, you might want to try colour tests online to find those that suit you the most. You can find tests, which help determine what colours are best for you. Pick those colours from the list you haven t ever tried or which you didn t think would suit you. Play with fabrics You can also change your look by playing with different fabrics. You might be known for your denim outfits. Perhaps you mainly wear jeans when you go out. So, pick something different such as khaki. Steer away from the fabrics you normally use and opt something different. If you usually have a basic cotton blend blazer when dressing up, swap it to a velvet one from Moss Bros. If you ve never own jeans in your entire life, then get yourself a denim jacket or a pair of Levis jeans. Similarly to the colour thing above, you want to go for the opposite and play with materials you don t normally wear. You can do the same with patterns. If you always wear non patter suites, try picking a pin stripe suit the next time. On the other hand, if your t shirts are and shirts are always patterned, consider opting for simple coloured shirts instead. Find somewhere new to shop Sometimes our sense of style is not just driven by what we think we like to wear but the places we shop. Different stores often embrace different style and if you always shop with the same fashion brand or retailer, you aren t going to end up with unique style.
  • 15. Keeping The Lines Of Communication It s tough to realize that less than 5 years ago we were living in a country of plenty. The U.S Economy had plenty of jobs, plenty of housing, plenty of security. With the turn our economy has taken, it s easy to succumb to depression and despair. While our whole country is having difficulty dealing with these hard times, you as an individual could be taking it worse. Avoiding depressionin these hard economic times is hard, but it can be done. Use these tips to help yourself and your loved ones from losing control of your positive emotions. Communicate Keeping the lines of communication open during hard times is the most important thing you can do to avoid depression. When you feel down, it is an automatic response to close yourself off from those around you. Letting yourself feel as if you have no one is the fastest road to depression. Talking with your spouse and family members about the hard road ahead will allow you to keep the problem from over taking you. Give Thanks Sometimes it s hard to be thankful for what you have. If you or your spouse has lost a job or had a reduction in salary giving thanks for still having at least one job or one salary may seem hard to do. Depression can set in quickly if you aren t careful and prepare yourself with the defense to fight it off. Let yourself realize and be thankful for what you still have. Budget Yourself Not feeling like you have enough money is another road to depression. Instead of feeling that you don t have

There is no more challenging use in this respect than implants in the human body. Here, the effectiveness and reliability of implants, and medical and surgical instruments and devices is an essential factor in saving lives as well as in the long term relief of suffering and pain. Implantation of other metals represents a potential assault on the chemical, physiological and mechanical structure of the human body. There is nothing comparable to a titanium implant in living tissue. Most metals in body fluids and tissue are found in stable organic complexes. Corrosion of implanted metal by body fluids, results in the release of unwanted metallic ions, with likely interference in the processes of life. Titanium is judged to be completely inert and immune to corrosion by all body fluids and tissue, and is thus wholly bio compatible. The natural selection of titanium for implantation is determined by a combination of most favorable characteristics including immunity to corrosion, bio compatibility, strength, low density and the capacity for joining with bone and other tissue, known as osseointegration. The mechanical and physical properties of titanium alloys combine to provide implants which are highly damage

Jane Austen s novel is principally concerned with the social fabric of late eighteenth and early nineteenth century England, a patriarchal society in which men held the economic and social power. In an often satirical portrait of the men and women attempting to gain a livelihood, Austen ironically points out faults in the system, raising questions about the values of English society and the power structure of the country. The novel is also engaged in an ideological debate that drives its plot and defines the essence of its main character. Some critical issues associated with childhood stunting are impaired cognitive development, reduced intellectual performance, and reduced job productivity in the future. Stunting has major effects on children all over the world and if it is not treated at an early age, the effects are irreversible (Huicho). From pre conception to the first two years of life, it is crucial for a child to get the proper nutrients essential for their development: One of the serious consequences of stunting is particularly impaired cognitive development. When a child has inadequate access to food, their body conserves energy by first limiting social activity and cognitive development in the form of apathetic and incurious children. These children may not develop the capacity to adequately learn or play. Then the child s body will limit the energy available for growth (Zusy). Malnutrition is one of the major causes of childhood stunting. In a study conducted in West Madura Island, Indonesia, supplementation of lipid based nutrient supplements were found to prevent stunting in six to twelve month old infants. The researchers chose to study children of this age range due to the fact that it s the age where children go from being breastfed to being fed solids. It is crucial for children at the listed age to get the proper nutrients they need when they undergo the transition. The study was Conducted on one hundred and sixty eight infants in Indonesia who received either the lipid
  • 38. Understanding A Problem And Defining The Real Problem Understanding a problem and defining the real problem is a skill that can be applied to many facets of life. In the workplace it is common place to have management not understand their employees and in turn create a negative work environment. For example, a labor crew may have years of combined experience, but it is understandable that an inexperienced educated person might be placed in a managementrole above the laborers. Without truly understandingthe environmentthe laborers deal with, the inexperienced manager might see labor practices that are not fully understood and find fault with those practices despite the years of experience that went into the particular practice. (Modic, 1988) presents five tenets management can use to better manage people. The relationship between management and employee was studied to determine these five tenets and how they can resolve the root of work evil. The first tenet of people management according to (Modic, 1988) is, Focus on performance, not personality. Modic goes on to explain, This provides a dialog that can address performance improvement. (p. 1). The second tenet ties into the first tenet of focusing on performance by providing a way to measure the performance. Modic says, Provide a base line against which to measure later results, a key element in the change process. (p. 1). The first two tenets are being used to focus on a measureable component of an employee s performance rather than intangibles such as personality. By

Megalomaniacs In Elie Wiesel s Night And Last Night Simplistic complications that add up to mere first world problems can seem to be microscopic road bumps, or they can measure up to unconditional acts of evil on mankind. Megalomaniacs, who find pleasure through sadism, can only make most of those issues worse. While there is a difference between breaking a nail and dying, the potential for true malevolence is still existent in both. Although it may seem that corrupt actions cannot bring out righteousness, that is not quite the case. At the same time, closing down a chain restaurant may not sound like a significant moment to someone who has undergone unspeakable suffering, but it could be the equivalent to the apocalypse for another. In Elie Wiesel s Night and Last Night at the Lobster... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the Wiesel s, family is a vital key. When all the Jewish prisoners of war were in a long queue waiting for their anticipated death in the cremation pit, Nazi officers separate Elie from his mother and sisters. The few words that were branded into Elie s mind were: Men to the left! Women to the right!(Wiesel 27). In that split second, his family was gone. Simply gone. With no way to pieced back together. Losing the female figures in his life resulted in a deep grievance. Functioning without his mother or sisters was an inconceivable thought. Emotionless Schutzstaffel officers did not have a care for the permanent tears that they made in innocent people s families. Separating families may be one of the most disgusting acts during the war, but at least Elie and his father were able to lean on each other for support at the roughest of times. The only good that came out of losing his family was that he at least had one member to thrive off of. They were each other s entire dependence. The only reason why they fought for their lives. The only reason Elie was able to survive. Elie s altruistic actions towards his father are what allowed them to venture so far. That same hole in a family is left in Last Night at the Lobster. Manny relies on his employees in a similar fashion to how family members depend on each other. Without the support of his crew, the Red Lobster would not be able to function. And to Manny, the Lobster s workers are his family due to his excessive commitment to his job. When the chief executive officers decide that Manny s chain is not reaching their standards, they make the order to shut it down. This in some sense can be compared to Elie s family being split up. For years Manny has put extreme amounts of labor to keep the restaurant running. The only way he was able to do this was my counting on his staff to

  • 41. What Makes A Word Essay Posted 30/05/2015 by Iain Campbell What Makes a Word, a Word? If a new word or neologism is not created by a lexicographer (the person who compiles a dictionary), or any individual, then who decides what words will be a part of the English language? The speakers of the language are who choose what words are used and which are not. It s the day to day users of the language introducing and maintaining words, this is what evolves and shapes the way the English language is spoken and understood by the people who use it. There are a number ways in which a new word can be introduced into any given language, in this post I will focus on the English language and the techniques commonly used to make new words in the language. Not only does a word need to be created to be part of a language but it needs to be used as part of the language regularly to be well recognised and accepted by the speakers, and there for an official word in the language. Shared Words The first way a word can be made is through a different language sharing or donating a word with another language or country. An English example of this technique would be the word ninja which English speakers took from the Japanese and now is sometimes recognised as an English word. Once the word is taken from a language the pronunciation and origins of the word become lost with time and people can forget or are not able to tell that the word has foreign origins. Similarly Caramel is stolen from another language and

Some people wonder why white females make national news more often than any other female or male for that matter. In the argumentative essay Not Only Natalee is Missing Anne Marie O Connor tries to explain how and why people make national news. O Connor s essay starts out based on the idea that white females are the only ones that make national news, but her use of pathos, ethos, and logos, prove this idea to be based upon economic status and race rather than genderalone. The author uses pathos to appeal to the audience s sense of open mindedness about women who make national news. O Connor tries to get the reader to realize how being human can cause people to overlook certain stories and make them seem unimportant. In her essay she states, We don t pay as much attention to someone missing from a community we don t know or are not familiar with (661). This quotation symbolizes how sometimes people can be overlooked in today s news. The issue about who makes national news can appeal to more than just a sense of open mindedness, it can also appeal to your sense of sympathy. When news reporters get their stories, no one is for sure how long the story can stay lingering amongst people. Earl Hutchinson, a political analyst, states, When you raise the issue people say, This is a tragedy and we should do more, Hutchinson said. But it only lasts a hot minute.
