The Hidden Assault On Our Civil Rights
Every snowflake that has ever fallen from the sky to the ground is different in some shape or form,
like our own identities, no two are the same. Some aspects of our identity may be similar to others but
in some way it will always be different as we perceive things differently. Our teachings, religion,
culture, thoughts, etc... are what defines us and sets us apart from the rest of the world. Kenji Yoshino
a Japanese American, as a child was torn between two identities of being Japanese or an American, he
later covered up his Japanese identity in order to fit into the social norm of an American. As he grew
older Yoshino began to understand his errors and wrote an essay called Covering: The Hidden Assault

Turkle explains how we are losing ourselves to our technology, putting more reliance on technology
then our own peers. Distinguishing between identity and performance of identity is a difficult task as
an adolescent because they are portrayed as the same thing. However, the idea of flexibility and the
advancing of technology helps the adolescents to transition between variety of identities in order to
find their one true authentic identity. The advancement of technology has it made it so, that we no
longer have a singular identity but multiplicity of identities that has integrated with our own identity,
causing us to become flexible to the variety of identities in order for us to find our true identity. Smith
introduces Dream City as a place where nothing is singular but everything is doubled, where we have
to transition from one place to another in order to communicate with the many dwellers of Dream
City. Smith states In Dream City everything is doubled, everything is various. You have no choice but
to cross boarders and speak in tongues. That s how you get from your mother to your father, from
talking to one set of folks who think you re not black enough to another who figure you insufficiently
white (Smith 251 252). Smith presents the idea of flexibility by explaining

Dwight D. Eisenhower s Speech
Dwight D. Eisenhower was one of Americas most influential presidents. He ended his successful
public career with a farewell speech outlining the growth of the nation and warnings about the future.
Firstly, I will examine the effectiveness of Eisenhower s speech.
I found his speech to be well written, it held my attention and gave a clear message to protect the
future of the nation and its resources. I define a well written speech as one that can keep an audience
listening and wanting more. An effective speech must also have a clear message, and not contradict
itself. Eisenhower s speech concluded his second term as President on a good note, and it gave the
nation critical information on national defense, innovation, and the future for our people. Eisenhower s
speech gave a clear message of national pride while also giving advice on our scientific and military
future.
Now I will discuss the location and historical significance of the speeches. Eisenhower televised his
speech live from the White House. This use of technology allowed him to reach a wide audience,
some of which who would not have been able to attend his speech. The historical significance of his
speech was the long successful presidency that he was handing over to the much younger John F.
Kennedy.
Now I will examine the structure of Eisenhower s speech. His speech began with a brief introduction
thanking the broadcasting companies and giving his blessing to his successor, John F. Kennedy. The

The History Of Ethnography
Movies are stupendous sources of entertainment, and have been since the nineteenth century. In the
year eighteen eighty eight Thomas Edison, the wonderful inventor of the electric bulb and the
phonograph decided to construct machines for producing and displaying moving photographs. With
the assistance of W.L.K Dickson, Thomas began analyzing and altering the phonograph to make rows
of small pictures on similar cylinders. Any sound reproducing machine using records in the form of
cylinders or discs is a phonograph. ( Dictionary.com) Mr. Edison travels to Paris in eighteen eighty
nine to take a look at Eitenne Marey s camera, and it happened to use flexible film. Then Dickson
obtained some of George Eastman s Kodak film stock and started to work on different style of
machinery. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally by eighteen ninety four the European Lumiere brothers, Louis and Auguste, manufactured a
camera that served as both a recording device and projecting device. They then were able to name it
the Cinematographer to make films cheaper than those Thomas sold. Later on in eighteen ninety five
the very first movie produced with the Cinematographer was workers leaving the Lumiere factory at
Lyon. All of these fantastic inventors have given people all around the world a chance to step into a
new reality and take a break from the real world. With such a rich and beautiful history movies have
come a long way over time and developed many different genres, and three out of many that people
have access to are comedy, action, and

Scott Fitzgerald s Use Of Metaphors In The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby Metaphors Metaphor is a figure of speech which makes an implied or hidden
comparison between two things that are unrelated but share some common characteristics. F. Scott
Fitzgerald uses metaphors to contribute to the novel s overall effect. The use of imagery helps the
description of the metaphor. Metaphor and imagery contribute largely to Fitzgerald s style in The
Great Gatsby. The three important metaphors that help contribute to the novel s overall effect are
where ashes take the forms of houses and chimneys and rising smoke and finally, with a transcendent
effort, of men who move dimly and already crumbling through the powdery air (Fitzgerald 23), under
Doctor Eckleburg s persistent stare. (Fitzgerald 24), and It had seemed as close as a star to the moon.
(Fitzgerald 93). The metaphor where ashes take the forms of houses and chimneys and rising smoke
and finally, with a transcendent effort, of men who move dimly and already crumbling through the
powdery air is important to the overall effect of the novel. This metaphor is a description of the valley
of ashes. The valley of ashes is the piece of land that connects West Egg and New York. About half

Self Care In Shel Silverstein s The Giving Tree
At one point in a person s life, one usually finds a companion so strong they would do anything for
them. At least, there is a common misconception that one can give their all to somebody they care for,
simply because they care. The downside is, the relationship turns for the worse. When the giver gives,
the taker becomes greedy, and often times, the giver sticks around even when they are being clearly
exploited. Being taken advantage of and naivety come together hand in hand. Therefore, in Shel
Silverstein s The Giving Tree, the Tree is naive and being taken advantage of because she puts the Boy
s happiness and well being ENTIRELY above her own, ultimately leading to her self destruction. The
Boy also habitually returns to reap the benefits of the Tree ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Giving Tree becomes so absorbed in her concerns for the Boy that she neglects to truly take care
of herself. While Silverstein states in the poem that the Giving Tree loved the Boy, all of her
subsequent actions benefited the Boy and harmed herself. She was only content when caring for the
Boy; she never seemed to be complete by herself. Thus, when the little Boy wanted money, she gave
her fruits to him to sell. She gifted her branches to him, so that he could build the house he wanted.
Then she gifted her trunk, so that the Boy could sail away in his own boat. By the time the Boy had
aged into seniority, he had already reduced the Tree to a stump. In relation to self care, it s also vitally
important to remove toxicity in your life. Somebody who drains you of energy is toxic. The Boy came
back time and time again to ask for more, and then would leave her behind

Giving Our Felons A Chance
Giving Our Felons a Chance What if you couldn t find somewhere to live? This is an actual issue that
many Americans face every day. Not because of the lack of money, but because of their criminal
records felons to be specific. Having a criminal record, now in days is not hard, you can be felon for
something small or for something big. However, once a felon you are out of luck with finding a place
to live on your own. I think it is the smallest and most irrelevant things that our government take into
notice. The government will never see and think like a person who grew up in poverty. If you have a
criminal record and can t find a place to live to better yourself what the next step? It can only go south
from here. No one should struggle to find a place to live and call home. I believe that there are felons
out there who will never better themselves nor would they care to. These felons don t care for a place
to live or a place to call home. However, there are many people who end up with a criminal record for
a very small incident, maybe an incident that was not their fault. There are many felons who can post
bail and maybe do one day in jail. If you can post bail in one day I m sure your crime was not life
threatening. Therefore, why can t this felon find a place to live? The reason is because any apartment
complex you apply for will do a background check and will deny you. They don t care if you are
doing better or if you re a changed person they will throw you out just as

The Nazi Regime Of Adolf Hitler At Auschwitz Birkenau...
1.1 million. That is the number of people exterminated by the Nazi regime of Adolph Hitler at
Auschwitz Birkenau death camp between 1940 45. (Auschwitz Birkenau museum online) The raw
number itself absolutely staggering, too large for any human being to wrap their minds around. It is a
large enough number to inspire skepticism, disbelief, and outrage. To this day, decades after the fact,
there are still those who deny that any of it ever happened because the numbers are just too big. It is
better to think of this tragedy in more personal terms: as in 1.1 million families physically ripped
apart, 1.1 million dreams snuffed out, and untold numbers of survivors left scared forever. Human
faces need to be attached to the raw numbers, or else the numbers become a point of data, something
which can be spun to serve up moral or political advantage in today s society. We must remember
what happened in Auschwitz Birkenau, and the other Nazi concentration camps. All of humanity must
remember or we are surely doomed to one day repeat this dark chapter in our history. The history of
the Jewish people is littered with tales of religious based violence, state organized pogroms, and
forced evictions. American jewish parents have taken the old rhyme: Columbus sailed the Ocean Blue
in 1492 , and added the words and the Jews were kicked out too! in order to memorialize the Jews
exile from Spain during the Catholic Church s Inquisition. Jews were accused of all manner of crimes,

cancer every year. Why don t they eat sperm and become healthy once again?
No, really. All it will take is a sperm. And who knows their breast cancer will disappear.
Sperm carries anti cancer properties. Also, many studies back this astonishing fact, while they have

Essay about George Babbitt of Sinclair Lewis Babbitt
George Babbitt: Image of a Presbyterian
In Babbitt, Sinclair Lewis portrays religion as a corrupt business. In fact, he emphasizes this by
focusing on his main character George Babbitt. George Babbitt is characterized as a businessman in
Zenith. He is a man preoccupied about his reputation and his image before the main leaders of the
town he lives in. Lewis creates a hypocritical figure for Babbitt through his reasons for being a
Presbyterian. He says that if you were to question Babbitt about his religion he would say, My religion
is to serve my fellow men, to honor my brother as myself, and to do my bit to make life happier for
one and for all (199). Of course, if you heard this from Babbitt you would ... Show more content on

His participation within his religious denomination was his stepping stool. Chum Frink and
Mr.Eathorne accepted Babbitt because of his proposals for the Sunday School. He wanted to divide
the school into four armies with militaristic characteristics. This would help the children feel as if they
were doing something worthy. Secondly, he insisted on improvement of the advertising committee
(Lewis 207). This goes to show you how businesslike the Sunday School was becoming. Babbitt was
only thinking of business morals and forgetting the religious morals.
Lewis also draws an image of George Babbitt s sanctimoniousness through his idea of Hell. We see
Babbitt s hypocrisy when he says, if one was a Bad Man, that is, if he murdered or committed
burglary or used cocaine or had mistresses or sold non existent real estate, he would be punished
(199). Notice how everything Babbitt mentions at the time is something he has not done, however as
he continues to live his life he eventually pulls a crooked real estate deal and begins to cheat on his
wife, Myra. Babbitt s flirtatious character is seen when he dates several women and is careless
because of his wife s absence. Lewis practically points out Babbitt s hypocrisy through his failure to
comply with his own criteria of who does and who does not go to Hell.
Lewis portrays the Presbyterian Church

The Demolition of Privacy Rights
The Demolition of Privacy Rights Civil liberties is a term coined by the United States that guarantees
certain rights to the people by the Bill of Rights. Although the Right to Privacy is not officially
enumerated into the Constitution, the Supreme Court ruled that citizens do in fact, have the right to
their own privacy in their own home and their own beliefs. Privacy rights are an essential part of
everyday American lives, in that everyone should be given the right to do whatever they want to do in
privacy without anyone judging them or knowing what they have done. The right to privacy can also
be considered jeopardizing to society because if someone is doing everything privately, including

As stated above, privacy rights are considered an essential part of one s everyday life because
everyone has their own definition of privacy, in other words, everyone has to have their own form of
privacy; Google defined privacy as the state or condition of being free from being observed or
disturbed by other people but to some people privacy is what one does by themselves or what they do
with another person(s). According to the Patriot Act, the Government has the right to implement all
types of instruments that will further protect the country from terrorism by imposing extreme actions
that target certain rights, such as privacy. In today s society, teenagers and all people around the world
is constantly on their phone either updating a status on Facebook or posting a new picture on
Instagram, this could be very detrimental in protecting one s own private life; photos and status
updates may uncontrollably reveal one s personal life, such as a school s location or even a house

law that gives some type of privacy right while the right of privacy is a debatable subject, citizens
should not fear their government from taking away their right or abuse it for the good will of the
people. While Privacy Rights is considered a necessity for everyday life, the

Taking a Look at Muscle Cramps
Muscle Cramps Muscle cramps are painful, involuntary muscle spasms that occur when muscles
contract and will not relax. They can last from several seconds to a couple minutes. They are
considered very common among people; however, their actual cause is still not well understood. There
are different types of muscle cramps including true, contractures, tatany, and dystonic cramps. There
are not a lot of symptoms for muscle cramps, but the ones that do exist are obvious. Cramps will
usually go away on their own without medical assistance, but there are a few cases where they should
get checked out by a doctor. Muscle cramps are painful, but the worst thing is that they can t be
stopped from happening. The causes for this muscle disorder are not completely understood, but there
are several theories. According to the Mayo Clinic Staff, muscle cramps are caused by overuse of
muscle, dehydration, muscle strain, or simply holding a position for a long period of time. In their
article, Muscle Cramps, they also stated that cramps may be related to underlying medical condition
such as inadequate blood supply, nerve compression, and mineral depletion (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2013).
Getting inadequate blood supply affects the arteries that deliver blood to the legs producing cramps in
the legs and feet while exercising. Another article called, Muscle Cramps Symptom Evaluation also
lists anemia, medications, kidney disorders, and hormonal problems as causes for this disorder.

Pros And Cons Of Open Carry Laws
Do you know of any cities that allow open carry laws? The ones that do probably have a reduced rate

crime in cities with a open carry law deterred crime. Murders were reduced by 8.5%, rapes were
reduced by 5%, assaults were reduced by 7%, and robberies were reduced by 3%
(Concealedguns.procon.org). These rates went down because a citizen was able to handle the situation
faster than 911 could. You might think that these percentages are lousy because you might be here

How Technology Can Benefit A Child s Cognitive Development
Children use a lot of technology. They use technology whether they are using social media, using a
learning program, or reading an electronic book. The truth is, that there are more positives than
negatives when children use technology. There is fear that if children use too much technology they
will not have proper development especially cognitively. This paper will show how technology can
benefit a child s cognitive development.
One benefit is young children can learn how to read while using a device whether it is a computer,
tablet, or cellphone instead of reading a regular book. On these devices, there are applications where
the parent can download age appropriate books. Also, some of the books may be read along, or read
out loud to them. Linda Cooper, associate professor at Pratt University says, This way children can
learn how pronounce words and learn how to read at their own pace (2005). This is a great way to
teach a child learn how to read. Some of these programs have a voice that will help a child understand
and pronounce words. If the device has internet connection, a child can Google a word that they do
not understand and learn the definition. However, there are a couple issues like children having a
difficult time reading a regular book. They may not be able to read a regular book after learning how
to read on a screen. Reading on a device starts helping children to build blocks on how to use video
games and watch television. Children who read on devices are

his debut into the Indian political scene in 1915. As the foremost leader in the Indian independence
movement, Gandhi acquired international repute, and his policy of peaceful civil resistance has over
the decades offered inspiration for political movements, and civil rights campaigns across the globe. In
addition to developing non violent strategies for political struggle, he influenced the Indian
regeneration program that spearheaded the struggle for Indian independence.
Gandhi s philosophy of non violence resistance transcended every other attribute of his vision
concerning the Indian subcontinent, including the Indian regeneration program. This program entailed
diverse interrelated strategies that are considered to be the fundamental components of the swadeshi

The Importance Of A Brand For An Organization
2.1 The importance of a brand to an organisation is the most important thing. The importance of the
brand is the main thing for a number of reasons. it is more important than ever to promote recognition
of a product or service. If you re remembered as a quality provider, then you will be encouraging
repeat business. Branding is a great way to promote this recognition because people are busy and tend
to adhere to familiarity. If consumers recognize a brand that they have previously used and they
remember being satisfied with it, then they are more likely to choose that product or service again.
This is especially true in the tremendous hodgepodge of advertising going on today.

But great customer service doesn t come from nowhere, it doesn t just happen, like flicking a switch. It
comes from your culture; it comes from your Brand Values.
Great customer service happens when employees feel supported and protected by their leaders and
managers. Bad customer service comes from a place of fear, when employees are afraid to make a
mistake and get in trouble.
2.3 Brands possess credible, relevant and distinctive brand promises. People need to be able to trust
your brand. This requires a shift in marketing. The brand promise clarifies what the brand stands for
and is also the most important reason for stakeholders to choose a particular brand. Often this promise
is communicated explicitly through a slogan or pay off, but it can also be conveyed implicitly via
communication with and behavior towards stakeholders.
Brand success is a relevant brand promise that is proven throughout the organization. Every single day
it is visible as the DNA of the organization. The least a customer should expect from a brand is that
the experience with the brand lives up to the promise made. To prove the brand promise everything
has to be in place. Customers have to experience the brand promise through all the different channels:
via the telephone, in all the stores/locations, on the website and in face to face contact, etc. Social and
technological developments make it necessary nowadays to prove what you promise in your

The Importance Of National Honor Society
The first idea I believe National Honor Society should participate in is hosting a Memorial Day
celebration for the families in our community that have lost loved ones due to serving our country. I
think this would be amazing because it would give the people in our community a sense that they are
not alone and introduce them to people that they can lean on. At this event, we could have food/treats
and potentially an open microphone where people would be able to share the story of their loved
one(s). This could then become a yearly event that people look forward to because it would be a
celebration of life. I realize this could turn into a huge event because there are many people that could
possibly attend but we could keep that under control

Electronic Voting Is A Bad Idea Essay
Electronic voting machines can be seen as an improvement to many Americans, such as those with
disabilities and citizens with a first language other than English. However there are downsides to the
new approach that outweigh the benefits of the new voting system coming in to place.
In the passage, Electronic Voting Is a Bad Idea , there are numerous reasons stated advocating against
the use of EVMs. In paragraph one it is said, According to at least one study, poll workers are often
poorly trained on how to use EVMs. Sometimes the workers don t even know how to turn the
machines on! In Everyone Should Be Able to Vote it mentions that one of the main draws to using
EVMs is that the disabled and those who need a ballot in a language other than English would find it
easier to use. The inexperience of poll workers would simply cause more confusion to the voters with
special requests. EVMs would also cause problems for citizens who have limited knowledge on how
to use computers. It is cited in paragraph 3 of Electronic voting Is a Bad Idea , In a 2004 national
survey, researchers from the California Insititute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay on The Bloody Chamber by Angela Carter
There is plenty of opportunity for interpretation in Carter s writing, particularly in her book The
Bloody Chamber which is commonly considered to be her masterwork, brimming with
intertextualities and ambiguities. Some may find her work to be excessively violent or savage, perhaps
even alienating. Yet others may have found this no holds barred approach to be exhilarating and
refreshing in comparison to other authors of her time. In her re writing of Perrault and Beaumont s
classic tales, Carter proposes a reading of several well known stories with intent to unveil through a
feminist perspective the ideological content they present. The Bloody Chamber is her take on the tale
of Bluebeard; The Werewolf is her variation of the tale of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This in itself begins to uncover a deeper meaning to her literature; both obvious and latent in ways
which create a curiosity to analyse the text in depth. With The Bloody Chamber collection, Carter
made a clear attempt to demythologise classic fairy tales, using them not only to deconstruct
traditional masculinity, but also to highlight liberation and re evaluate the female standpoint within a
patriarchal society. Carter herself argued that although 18th century aristocratic writers who penned
these tales sprinkled in some morality in order to convert them into suitable parables for children, the
darkness of their content and belittlement towards women remained. Carter (2013, page unknown) To
counter this, her stories restored the female psyche of her protagonists by rewarding their active
sexuality rather than punishing it into passiveness or misogynistic suppression.
It would be unfair to disregard the notion of gross repellence altogether, as the book is most certainly
populated with surreal and grotesque material. Carter s baroque and parodist take on fairy tales
outlines the darkness of grotesque literature. She uses vulgar language ..his prick, curved upwards like

Examples Of Cartesian Rationalism
Cartesian rationalism was founded by Rene Descartes who was a philosopher born 1596 1650. He is a
metaphysical realist. The Cartesian rationalism deals with skepticism, methodic doubt and
methodological skepticism. Rationalism is the idea that real knowledge can only be known through
reason. (Frame, 2014) Descartes believes that the mind is independent of the body. The mind just like
the soul lives on as the body perishes. He also believed that the only way knowledge is reliable is by
understanding reason through the mind. Are senses unreliable? Descartes questions if the things we
see might be an illusion such as water in a desert.
An example of this is the beeswax that Descartes tested. He wanted to test if his senses could be relied

A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings
A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings Humans have a temptation to be selfish, to try to step over
others to better themselves taking advantage of their weaknesses to reach the top. In the story by
Gabriel Garcia Marques A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings this is portray, by showing how cruel
and imperfect society can be. In the beginning of the story the weather in Mocondo the town where
the story takes place, is used as a symbol of corruption. In Mocondo is always dark and rainy,
interpreting how the villagers themselves are also dark and corrupt. An early description of the setting
in the story illustrates how in Mocondo it used to be sunny all the time but it had become a stew of
mud and rotten shellfish (Marques 406 409). Furthermore when Elisenda and Pelayo find the Old man
in the back yard, they don t know what to do so they seek help from their neighbor. The woman
neighbor had told them that he was an angel coming for the child and that they should club him to
death. This reflects how atrocious society can be. However Elisenda and Pelayo decide not kill him
but instead they settled by holding him captive in a chicken coop while it rained all night and the
chickens plugged at the already damaged angel wings, Demonstrating once again cruelty and
corruption. He wasn t valuable enough to enter the house, the angel was treated and locked up like a
worthless zoo animal. One of the first sings of corruption is the infiltration of the crabs in Elisenda and

Dna Fingerprints Discovery
Fingerprints Found to be Unique
The next major breakthrough came from the discovery that each individual fingerprint was unique.
The concept was first revealed in a paper written by Henry Faulds and William James Herschel; later
Francis Galton applied the science behind their findings for criminal investigations. Galton was able to
distinguish the patterns of fingerprints and determine whether they are actual or accidental. The first
investigator to use this method in a criminal investigation was Juan Vucetich, an Argentinean police
officer in 1892. However, even with sweeping advancements in forensic science fingerprinting still
didn t catch on. Scotland yard finally adopted the Galton Henry system in 1901, New York state
followed behind them when in 1903 it implemented the first prison fingerprint identification system.

The sequence of events all began when a man named Alec Jefferies discovered the first DNA
fingerprinting techniques in 1984. The process had expanded exponentially by 1986 when it led to the

involved another suspect who had originally been charged with the crime but he was exonerated due
to the DNA evidence. Later in the year 1996 the National Academy of the Sciences proclaimed DNA
evidence was completely reliable. Four years later advances in technology led to even faster
identification times, the process went from six to eight weeks, to an amazing one to two days. While
there are many more technologies which have significantly advanced the techniques used in criminal
investigations, these five advances were game changers almost overnight; once investigators had these
tools in their arsenals most cases could be solved within a 48 hour

The Death of Sardanapalus Analysis
The Death Of Sardanapalus
Art has been classified into many different types of styles. Some artists reflect the style perfectly in
their works and others express elements from different styles in their pieces. The frvdsRomantic art
style was a unique art style which drew away from the Neoclassical style, which was predominant.
Romantic art was the complete opposite of Neoclassicism. Where neoclassical artists favoured strict
forms, rules and reason and logic; Romantic artists strayed away from that form of painting and
wanted to express individualism and personal emotions into their pieces. Eugene Delacroix s The

In Liberty: Leading the People, Delacroix uses a triangle to compose the piece (Fig 2), with Liberty at
the peak of the pyramid and the people at the bottom in order to balance out the composition,
compared to The Death of Sardanapalus, Delacroix s painting offers no clear recession into depth.
There is no logical sense of scale or perspective. (Walsh) The Death of Sardanapalus is just clustered
and a mess with no real balance or logic. Romantic art is characterized as straying away from
traditional art forms, thus this piece is a piece reminiscent to the art style known as Romanticism. 84
years prior to the creation of the death of Sardanapalus, another renowned French painter, Jacques
Louis David painted the most famous piece of Neoclassical art, The Oath of the Horatii.
Neoclassicism and Romanticism are two completely opposite things. Whereas Neoclassicism stresses
the importance of balance, logic, and objectivity; Romanticism tries to emphasize the individual,
spontaneity, and intuition. One wanted to portray the absolute truth of life and the other wanted to
depict reality through images of the wild and raw emotions... (Neoclassicism and Romanticism) In
The Oath of the Horatii, everything is organized and lined up neatly and the entire painting just gives
off a calm feeling with the invisible brushstrokes and dull colors. Whereas in The Death of

Zander were playing with the magnet tiles in the toy area because the block area was being used. The
materials that were available to Eda and Zander were trinkets (like buttons), toys (like mini plastic
figures), and magnet tiles. The activity that Eda and Zander were doing in the toy area was the
following: creating a party out of magnet tiles. First, Eda got out the magnet tiles and began to make a
big room out of the tiles. When I asked Eda about what she was doing, Eda said, I am making a party.
I asked Eda if the room she was making was the party room, and she said yes. After that, I asked Eda
who was coming to the party. Eda said that everyone was coming to the party, except for teachers
because they were sick. Then Zander came over and started to build with Eda. Zander made a hospital
and Eda made a few bathrooms for the party. When I asked Eda which bathrooms were the girl s and
the boy s, she said that the red and purple magnet tiles were the girl s bathrooms and the green magnet
tiles were the boy s. After I asked Eda that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I also believe that the magnet tiles made Eda and Zander used a variety of different skills. First, the
magnet tiles made Eda and Zander use their language/social skills; it did this by making them
communicate with each other and work together. Then it made them use their math skills; it did this by
making them identify and name different shapes. Then the activity made them use their classification
skills to match objects that are similar. And the list goes on and

Speech On Flyboarding
At first I thought it was the abundant utilization of alcohol and daylight. There we were, one hot
evening the previous summer, on a vessel amidst Lake Mead, watching somebody suspend over the
water on a board fastened to a Jet Ski, two considerable surges of water impacting from underneath
the rider s feet. Iron Man? No, simply some fella attempting to keep his parity. This provoked heaps of
whoas, picture taking and Instagram posting, and gathering Googling to take in more about the
marvelousness we were seeing.
Flyboarding is only one of a modest bunch of hydroflight items that are the most current fury in water
sports. What we saw a year ago was an individual s private gear, however over at the man made

New innovation and habitually upgraded rigging aren t shoddy. An early on, 20 minute flight on either
the jetpack or the jetblade runs $180, and doing both for an aggregate of 40 minutes will set you back
$330. In any case, JetPack America s site is at present offering 15 percent off all flights (with code
SPRING15) a lesson and wet suit rental is incorporated and once you break your hydrojet cherry, you
can purchase more flight time for not as much as a large portion of the expense by means of
enrollments. (There s likewise $130 10 minute coupled rides, which implies children can take an
interest, as well.)
Here s a far and away superior arrangement: Attend this present weekend s Hydro Fest Competition
and Expo, a free occasion which highlights rivalries with hydroflight competitors who can pull off
some stunning moves, an evening time show where the performing riders are secured in lights, music,
sustenance, and different exercises, for example, go karts, volleyball and oar loading up. Best of all,
JetPack America will make every one of the six hydroflight items accessible for participants to attempt
for nothing. It s essentially an open house by the awesomest toymaker

My First Term Of College
Going into my first term of college I didn t quite know what to expect, little did I know that it was
going to be an eventful term. Heading into College Survival I didn t know what exactly to expect and
what exactly the course would cover. Here I am today finishing up my first term of college and I must
say this class has definitely helped me out a lot, in ways which I didn t think it could. The term
College Survival fascinated me and made me want to learn more about it, so I ended up taking the
course. This course has helped me in so many ways I don t know where I can start by listing
everything it s helped me with. While taking the course we were assigned journal entries to
successfully accomplish and turn in the next class. These journal entries had an unexpected impact on
me, as I learned quite a lot from completing them. One of my favorite journal entries was the My Life
Plan journal entry, this one in specific made me explore my future and look ahead at what lays ahead
of me. Planning ahead can be quite frustrating and intimidating at times, but in the end you feel good
once you re done planning. A specific situation I learned was creating short and long term goals, I
never have done that before prior to this journal entry. Writing out your goals physically where you
can see them in front of you is great and I learned that there is hope and greatness is ahead of me.
After writing this journal it has made my future more clear for me, and I now know what my short

The Godfather Research Paper
Never hate your enemies; it affects your judgement. This is a famous quote by the infamous Michael
Don Corleone from the Godfather part III. Ever since movies were given sound gangster films have
been major blockbusters throughout the years. In most recent times films like The Godfather trilogy,
Scarface, Casino, Goodfellas, and Carlito s Way, just to name a few, have been conquering box offices
throughout America and the world alike. Arguably, the most notable of these gangster films is The
Godfather trilogy. Everybody knows the Corleone family from Sicily that was lead by Vito Corleone
(Marlon Brando), Michael Corleone (Al Pacino), and lastly by Vincent Corleone (Andy Garcia). Al

After taking control of the company he makes the Vatican an offer to buy their part of the company
which was twenty five percent. Michael knew that Archbishop Gilday which was the head of the
vatican bank at the time ran up an enormous deficit and Michael Corleone agrees to pay six hundred
million dollars for the deal However the Pope John Paul VI has to approve of the deal or else it will
not work. One of New York s mafia bosses and a friend of Michael Corleone tells Michael that he and
some colleagues want in on the deal and Michael does not want any mafia involvement in this deal in
his attempt to legitimize his business dealings. Michael Corleone gathers a meeting with fellow mafia
bosses and pleases them by sharing profits from his Las Vegas businesses with the exception of Joey
Zasa. Zasa gets angry and basically declares Michael as an enemy and storms off. Afterwards a
helicopter comes flying over and opes fire and kills most of the members in that room with the
exception of Michael Corleone and Vincent Corleone. Following this tragic event they meet at one of
Michael s homes in New York and they decide how to deal with the situation that happened and
Vincent firmly states that he wants to kill Joey Zasa but Michael refuses to do so in

Later renamed as British Petroleum, the company s name was shortened to BP to reflect a continuing
global expansion. Over the years, BP made many important discoveries, including fields in the North
Sea near Scotland and at Prudhoe Bayin Alaska.
BP LogoAmoco
Amoco began its life as a part of John D. Rockefeller s powerful Standard Oil Trust. Incorporated in
1889 as the Standard Oil Company (Indiana), the company s first challenge was to build a refinery in
Whiting, Indiana, specially designed to handle high sulphur crude oil from a field near Lima, Ohio.
In 1912, a year after dissolution of the Rockefeller Trust, company scientist William Burton and his
colleague, Robert Humphreys, received a patent for the thermal cracking process that doubled the
yield of gasoline from a barrel of crude oil, while also boosting its octane rating. Headquartered in
Chicago, Illinois, Standard Oil of Indiana remained the company s name until April of 1985 when it
became Amoco, reflecting a growing international presence.
Arco
The oldest of the four companies, ARCO was founded in Philadelphia in 1866 as the Atlantic
Petroleum Storage Company. At the time, Atlantic s business was simply to store and ship crude and
refined oils. In 1870 the company built a refinery that could process 3,000 barrels a day, a record for
that time. Only four

Descriptive Essay On Anxiety
Generalized anxiety is a disorder in which a person has normally tense, uneasy, and feels very on edge
more often than not. I have always had a bit on anxiety with being near and/or around people, I have
never felt completely comfortable around anyone and often feel uneasy and nervous about everything,
but during my last year of middle school my anxiety got tremendously worse with the stress of school.
During my 8th grade year I was going to a college prep academy that came with an incredible amount
of stress for a thirteen year old. As the school year went on I would get more and more homework and
assignments. On average, I would come home with about four hours of homework that would be due
the next day, eventually the stress and overwhelming amount of work became hard to handle and I
started becoming more and more worrisome and uncomfortable in public. As the school year went on I
just became extremely nervous and uncomfortable about everything, scared to move in front of
people, scared to get up and sharpen a pencil, my hands were more often than not sweaty and gross
feeling which just made me even more nervous because what if for some reason someone would need
to touch my hand. I felt uncomfortable around friends that I had known and gone to school with for
years. I eventually stopped going out at all and just stayed home, I wouldn t go out to eat with my
parents nor would I go out with friends or anything. I started becoming very secluded from everyone.
Eventually my

Auto Repair Estimates Essay
How to Evaluate Auto Repair Estimates
Even the most reliable automobile will require repair at some point. This is why you have to learn how
to evaluate auto repair estimates correctly. The retail repair center uses an industry standard formula to
come up with the magic number. Understanding how the shop reaches this dollar total becomes
important for those seeking to pay a fair price for the required services.
In this article will cover the many different charges you ll find on most auto repair estimates. Keep in
mind, if you have a repair that requires diagnosis, that this is often looked at as a separate charge.
Many shops will waive the diagnostic fees if the customer agrees to the repairs as outlined in the
estimate. With that said, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The auto repair shop makes money on the parts it installs. This business has a right to make money
just like any other. With that said, you have to verify that they aren t taking advantage of you at the
same time. The industry uses a standard of cost plus 30 percent on automotive parts. You can keep the
shop honest by calling around to find out how much the replacement parts would cost you if
purchased in a retail environment. Adding 30 percent to this number is where you want to find
yourself when evaluating auto repair estimates.
Estimate for Miscellaneous Shop Charges
First let s talk about what a miscellaneous shop charge include. Things like waste disposal fees,
chemicals used during the auto repair and even shop rags or razor blades are often included in a shop
charge. Back in the old days the auto repair shop included these miscellaneous items in the repair as
part of doing business. However, these expenses have risen exponentially over the last 20 years.
Therefore, auto repair shops can no longer absorb these larger expenses.
With stricter regulations in the industry, retail automotive businesses are required to collect, store and
dispose of things like waste oil and used oil filters. These expenses continue to climb. The auto repair
shop is also required to properly clean and maintain their rags and spills. Finally, we use expensive
chemicals in many auto repair services like [[throttle body services]] or [[fuel injection

Magnesium Ribbon Lab
In order to conduct the experiment, one must determine the volume of one mole of hydrogen gas at
STP. First, a eudiometer tube was placed in an enamel pan, ⅔ filled with water, with its open end
upwards, made sure that the tube is clamped to the ring stand and clamp. Next, the length of the
sample of magnesium ribbon given was measured and recorded it. The sample of magnesium ribbon
was slightly bent in order to make it fit in the eudiometer tube, while making sure the sample of
magnesium ribbon did not break in the process. Afterwards, a piece of thread was tied to the sample of
magnesium ribbon at the bend. Then, about 20 mL of hydrochloric acid was measured using a
graduated cylinder, and the 20 mL of hydrochloric acid was placed into the ... Show more content on

Table #1 shows that the length of the sample of magnesium ribbon given was 1.67 cm (to 3 significant
numbers), the barometric pressure (total pressure) was 95.81 kPa, the room temperature was 24.9 °C,
and the measured gas volume converted from 24.72 mL to L was 0.02472 L. Then, the pressure of H2
was found by using Dalton s Law of Partial Pressure, using the equation Ptotal = PH2+ PH20., found
on Table #2 Part A. The pressure of H2O, 4 kPa, was determined by using Table H Vapor Pressure of
Four Liquids on the Reference Table for Chemistry. Then, the pressure of H2O, 4 kPa, was subtracted
from the total pressure, 95.81 kPa, to find the pressure of H2, 91.81 kPa. Next the mass of the sample
of magnesium was found, shown on Table #2 Part B, given that the mass of Mg = 0.0100 g/cm. It was
calculated that the mass of Mg per length found was 0.0167 g. Afterwards, the mass of Mg was
converted to moles, using 3 significant numbers, shown in Table #2 Part C. The calculations shows
that the number of moles of Mg found was 0.000687. Next, the mole ratio of Mg to H2 produced was
determined by writing a balanced equation for the reaction, found on Table #2 Part D. The mole ratio
of Mg to H2 produced was 1:1. Then, the number of moles of H2 produced (using 3 significant
numbers) was found by using stoichiometry, shown on Table #2 Part E. The number of moles of H2

Some aspects of our identity may be similar to others but in some way it will always be different as we perceive things differently. Our teachings, religion, culture, thoughts, etc... are what defines us and sets us apart from the rest of the world. Kenji Yoshino a Japanese American, as a child was torn between two identities of being Japanese or an American, he later covered up his Japanese identity in order to fit into the social norm of an American. Turkle explains how we are losing ourselves to our technology, putting more reliance on technology then our own peers. Distinguishing between identity and performance of identity is a difficult task as an adolescent because they are portrayed as the same thing. However, the idea of flexibility and the advancing of technology helps the adolescents to transition between variety of identities in order to find their one true authentic identity. The advancement of technology has it made it so, that we no longer have a singular identity but multiplicity of identities that has integrated with our own identity, causing us to become flexible to the variety of identities in order for us to find our true identity. Smith introduces Dream City as a place where nothing is singular but everything is doubled, where we have to transition from one place to another in order to communicate with the many dwellers of Dream City. Smith states In Dream City everything is doubled, everything is various. You have no choice but to cross boarders and speak in tongues. That s how you get from your mother to your father, from talking to one set of folks who think you re not black enough to another who figure you insufficiently white (Smith 251 252). • 5. Dwight D. Eisenhower s Speech Dwight D. Eisenhower was one of Americas most influential presidents. He ended his successful public career with a farewell speech outlining the growth of the nation and warnings about the future. Firstly, I will examine the effectiveness of Eisenhower s speech. I found his speech to be well written, it held my attention and gave a clear message to protect the future of the nation and its resources. I define a well written speech as one that can keep an audience listening and wanting more. An effective speech must also have a clear message, and not contradict itself. Eisenhower s speech concluded his second term as President on a good note, and it gave the nation critical information on national defense, innovation, and the future for our people. Eisenhower s speech gave a clear message of national pride while also giving advice on our scientific and military future. Now I will discuss the location and historical significance of the speeches. Eisenhower televised his speech live from the White House. This use of technology allowed him to reach a wide audience, some of which who would not have been able to attend his speech. The historical significance of his speech was the long successful presidency that he was handing over to the much younger John F. Kennedy. Now I will examine the structure of Eisenhower s speech. • 6. The History Of Ethnography Movies are stupendous sources of entertainment, and have been since the nineteenth century. In the year eighteen eighty eight Thomas Edison, the wonderful inventor of the electric bulb and the phonograph decided to construct machines for producing and displaying moving photographs. With the assistance of W.L.K Dickson, Thomas began analyzing and altering the phonograph to make rows of small pictures on similar cylinders. Any sound reproducing machine using records in the form of cylinders or discs is a phonograph. F. Scott Fitzgerald uses metaphors to contribute to the novel s overall effect. The use of imagery helps the description of the metaphor. Metaphor and imagery contribute largely to Fitzgerald s style in The Great Gatsby. • 8. Self Care In Shel Silverstein s The Giving Tree At one point in a person s life, one usually finds a companion so strong they would do anything for them. At least, there is a common misconception that one can give their all to somebody they care for, simply because they care. The downside is, the relationship turns for the worse. When the giver gives, the taker becomes greedy, and often times, the giver sticks around even when they are being clearly exploited. Being taken advantage of and naivety come together hand in hand. Therefore, in Shel Silverstein s The Giving Tree, the Tree is naive and being taken advantage of because she puts the Boy s happiness and well being ENTIRELY above her own, ultimately leading to her self destruction. The Boy also habitually returns to reap the benefits of the Tree ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Silverstein states in the poem that the Giving Tree loved the Boy, all of her subsequent actions benefited the Boy and harmed herself. She gifted her branches to him, so that he could build the house he wanted. Then she gifted her trunk, so that the Boy could sail away in his own boat. By the time the Boy had aged into seniority, he had already reduced the Tree to a stump. In relation to self care, it s also vitally important to remove toxicity in your life. • 9. Giving Our Felons A Chance Giving Our Felons a Chance What if you couldn t find somewhere to live? This is an actual issue that many Americans face every day. Not because of the lack of money, but because of their criminal records felons to be specific. Having a criminal record, now in days is not hard, you can be felon for something small or for something big. However, once a felon you are out of luck with finding a place to live on your own. I think it is the smallest and most irrelevant things that our government take into notice. The government will never see and think like a person who grew up in poverty. If you have a criminal record and can t find a place to live to better yourself what the next step? It can only go south from here. No one should struggle to find a place to live and call home. I believe that there are felons out there who will never better themselves nor would they care to. These felons don t care for a place to live or a place to call home. However, there are many people who end up with a criminal record for a very small incident, maybe an incident that was not their fault. There are many felons who can post bail and maybe do one day in jail. If you can post bail in one day I m sure your crime was not life threatening. Therefore, why can t this felon find a place to live? The reason is because any apartment complex you apply for will do a background check and will deny you. They don t care if you are doing better or if you re a changed person they will throw you out just as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That is the number of people exterminated by the Nazi regime of Adolph Hitler at Auschwitz Birkenau death camp between 1940 45. (Auschwitz Birkenau museum online) The raw number itself absolutely staggering, too large for any human being to wrap their minds around. It is a large enough number to inspire skepticism, disbelief, and outrage. To this day, decades after the fact, there are still those who deny that any of it ever happened because the numbers are just too big. It is better to think of this tragedy in more personal terms: as in 1.1 million families physically ripped apart, 1.1 million dreams snuffed out, and untold numbers of survivors left scared forever. Human faces need to be attached to the raw numbers, or else the numbers become a point of data, something which can be spun to serve up moral or political advantage in today s society. We must remember what happened in Auschwitz Birkenau, and the other Nazi concentration camps. All of humanity must remember or we are surely doomed to one day repeat this dark chapter in our history. The history of the Jewish people is littered with tales of religious based violence, state organized pogroms, and forced evictions. • 12. Essay about George Babbitt of Sinclair Lewis Babbitt George Babbitt: Image of a Presbyterian In Babbitt, Sinclair Lewis portrays religion as a corrupt business. In fact, he emphasizes this by focusing on his main character George Babbitt. George Babbitt is characterized as a businessman in Zenith. He is a man preoccupied about his reputation and his image before the main leaders of the town he lives in. Lewis creates a hypocritical figure for Babbitt through his reasons for being a Presbyterian. He says that if you were to question Babbitt about his religion he would say, My religion is to serve my fellow men, to honor my brother as myself, and to do my bit to make life happier for one and for all (199). This goes to show you how businesslike the Sunday School was becoming. Babbitt was only thinking of business morals and forgetting the religious morals. Lewis also draws an image of George Babbitt s sanctimoniousness through his idea of Hell. We see Babbitt s hypocrisy when he says, if one was a Bad Man, that is, if he murdered or committed burglary or used cocaine or had mistresses or sold non existent real estate, he would be punished (199). Notice how everything Babbitt mentions at the time is something he has not done, however as he continues to live his life he eventually pulls a crooked real estate deal and begins to cheat on his wife, Myra. Babbitt s flirtatious character is seen when he dates several women and is careless because of his wife s absence. Carter herself argued that although 18th century aristocratic writers who penned these tales sprinkled in some morality in order to convert them into suitable parables for children, the darkness of their content and belittlement towards women remained.
