rights of a woman Essay
In her article Women s History Joan Scott states that it is important for historians to be attentive to
both the ways in which politics constructs gender and gender constructs politics . First, definitions for
politics and gender will be established in order to analyze Scott s claim. Second, what Scott meant by
the claim politics constructs gender will be illustrated. Third, the contradictory claim gender
constructs politics by Joan Scott will be explained. Finally, this paper will evaluate why it is important
for historians to be attentive to both the notion that politics constructs gender and gender constructs
politics. The usefulness of Scott s claim on our understanding of both politics and gender will also be
examined. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both politics (all relationships involving unequal distributions of power) and gender involve cultural
definitions and as a result politics and gender have influence on each other. Historians, as Joan Scott
states, must be aware the influence that politics and gender have on one another in order to create a
complete, accurate history.
The idea that historians should be aware that politics constructs gender in the first part of Scott s claim
seems logical. In order to understand why it is important for historians to be attentive to the idea that
politics constructs gender it must be demonstrated what Joan Scott meant by this claim. All
relationships can be defined by their respective balance of power. There is either an equal balance of
power or there is an unequal balance of power. Relationships that have an unequal balance of power,
as Joan Scott defines, involve politics. It can be generalized that in order to maintain power those with
influence create rules or perform actions that seek to sustain their authority. The rules and actions do
not have to be formal and include methods such as labeling individuals, biological groups, or socially
created groups such as gender. Over time, gender type has been associated, or labeled, with power by
those who have the power. As the balances of power change over time, the rules and actions towards

Essay about In the Skin of a Lion by Michael Ondaatje
In the Skin of a Lion, by Michael Ondaatje
In the novel, In the Skin of a Lion, by Michael Ondaatje, the main character, Patrick Lewis, searches
for identity and light. Without these elements, he lacks love and cannot survive the world. A passage
in chapter three describes him as a lonely man that is isolated from the world around him. Clara and
Ambrose and Alice and Temelcoff and Cato this cluster made up a drama without him. And he himself
was noting but a prism that refracted their lives. He searched out things, he collected things. He was
an abashed man, an inheritance from his father. Born in Abashed, Ontario. What did the word mean?
Something that suggested there was a terrible horizon in him beyond which he couldn t leap. ... Show

He has no purpose in life; he just searches. The thing that he is looking for is light. This ambiguous
concept of light Ondaatje presents throughout the novel is not ordinary light, but one that illuminates
the void of darkness. Just like the moths that Patrick is intrigued by that only tend toward light at
night, Patrick only seeks light when there is none around him. Patrick continues his eternal search for
light because he has none of his own to emit.
The central theme behind many stories is the loss and regaining of identity. Patrick has no identity of
his own, and his only way of gaining a temporary one is through light. And he himself was nothing but
a prism that refracted their lives. (Ondaatje, pg.157) A prism, by definition, refracts light into a
spectrum of colors. Correspondingly, Patrick contorts other characters identities as his own. The
readers are introduced to this concept of reflecting light even before the novel begins. This is indicated
by, (D)riving the four hours to Marmora under six stars and a moon. Patrick is the moon; he can only
reflect a star s light. When reflecting light from the six stars, the main characters in the novel, Patrick
is able to gain a temporary identity. This is what Patrick is searching for his true identity. Throughout
the novel, Patrick becomes like the people he associates with, and he gains a temporary identity and
purpose. He takes on Alice s quest to dissolve the

Russia, The Motherland, By Russia Essay
Russia, The Motherland
From its Slavic and Viking past to its famous landmarks today, Russia is a very intriguing country.
Many people consider Russia and its people to be hostile. However, that is not true. There are many
examples to prove this. Russia has a very interesting past, affectionate culture, and many places to
visit.
Russia s history and language is very fascinating. In 1500 BC, the Slavs traveled through the Steppes
into Western Russia and Poland. They settled and lived there for many centuries. In the Ninth Century,
the Viking tribe, Rus, was moving inland. They settled and based themselves in Novgorod. Over the
years, Russia developed its name from this Viking tribe. In 882, the Rus leader, Oleg, moved from
Novgorod to Kiev. Here, Oleg would negotiate a treaty with Byzantine Empire. Into the 10th Century,
the Rus still control Kiev, until Vladimir is proclaimed Prince of All of Russia. Vladimir is the first
true Russian in the history of Russia. Vladimir s son , Yaroslav, establishes Kiev as the capital of
Russia 39 years later. Through many years of prosperity and hard times, the first generations of real
Russians begin to develop. Over these years, Moscow begins to prosper, and become the new capital
of Russia. Moscow is still the capital of Russia. Many years later, during the intense era of World War
II, the USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics) bands together with the Allies to defeat the Fascist
Reich. Although, at that time Russia was a

Essay On Costs Too Much Money
In this day and age, almost everything costs money. If you want to go out and do something
entertaining, it can be expensive. Tell City is a pretty boring town, and there is not really much to do
here. However, you can have fun for cheap if you know where to go. We have a movie theater,
restaurants, hiking trails, and plenty of grocery stores around town that you can go to to find snacks
and meals to prepare. Many people that live here complain that they never have anything to do. People
also complain that anything we can do costs too much money. Taking a girl out on a date is almost
impossible without spending a lot of money. What people do not know is that you can have a good
weekend with less than $20 here in Tell City, if you know ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prices for movies are great; regular showtimes for children three to twelve is six dollars, adults
thirteen and over is eight dollars, and senior citizens sixty and over is six dollars. The matinee movies,
which are movies that start before six p.m., are six dollars. There is also a special for fireman,
policeman, and military who have their ID s, their movie tickets are six dollars. Concessions are
always expensive at movie theaters, but ours is cheaper than most. There are four different movies
playing at any given time. Cinema 66 is also doing a Christmas special, with Elf playing on December
21st and The Polar Express playing on December 28th. The best part about this Christmas deal is that
both movies are free for anyone to come and watch! This is a perfect date for cheap, and one thing that
I would recommend doing. If you really want a cheap but fun night, having a movie night would be a
very good idea. We have Redbox that you can rent movies from for $1.50 a day. The Redbox has a
great variety of movies, and it iz usually stocked pretty well with favorable movies. The Redbox s
here in Tell City are placed pretty conveniently for movie nights, the four that we have are placed
around grocery stores. There are two at Walmart, one at Dollar General, and one at Family Dollar. A
more convenient source for movies is Netflix, it is $7.99 a month and it has great movies and
television shows. Movie nights and Netflix binge watching is

A New Age of Music Piracy

A New Age of Music Piracy
A thief can be defined in many different ways. The American Heritage Dictionary of the English
Language states a thief is one whom commits theft. So one might ask, what exactly is theft? Theft is
defined as the felonious taking and removing of personal property with intent to deprive the rightful
owner of it (The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language). Now most people who
participate in music piracy do not consider themselves thieves. The definition of a theft is flawed in
many ways. Most of the time people do not contain on factor of being a thief, this factor is depriving
the rightful owner of the property stolen. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the Piracy Deterrence and Education Act that is being considered in the House Judiciary
Subcommittee on Intellectual Property. This act would mostly attack peer to peer networks and force
the FBI and the U.S. Copyright Office to develop anti piracy programs (AFM). Since 2003 the RIAA
has aggressively pursued music pirates on the internet who have contributed to a substantial amount of
illegal downloading. They have won hundreds of guilty pleas averaging a reported $3000 per case
settlement (Dean). RIAA President, Cary Sherman stated the legal actions taken by the record
companies have been effective in educating the American public that illegal file sharing of
copyrighted material has significant consequences. Consumers are increasingly attracted to the host of
compelling legal online music alternatives. These lawsuits help to foster an environment that provides
a level playing field for these services to succeed. Without leaders such as Cary Sherman, the fight
against music piracy would fail along with the music industry.
Although there are many people and organizations involved in the fight against music piracy, there are
many road blocks standing in the way. In 1984 there was a Supreme Court ruling which protected
Sony Betamax from being held liable for circulating copyright violations through the use of video
cassette recorders. The courts ruled that the recorders had

Graff s Manipulation of Ender Throughout Orson Scott Card s novel, Ender s Game, Ender Wiggin
has been manipulated by several adults including Major Anderson, Colonel Graff, and Mazer
Rackham. One thing they all have in common is they all want Ender to be successful as soon as
possible because he is their only hope in defeating the buggers. Of these three adults, Colonel Graff
was the most prominent in the manipulation of Ender. Graff manipulated Ender by isolating Ender
from the rest of the kids at Battle School and controlling Ender s every move. He did this with the
purpose that Ender would learn to solve problems on his own without expecting a helping hand and
therefore make Ender strong enough to destroy the buggers. Graff does not see the wrong in his
actions of manipulation, but instead he feels it will help Ender save the world from the buggers. ...

On the launch to Battle School, Graff started Ender s isolation by putting a target on Ender by saying,

instances were the times Graff transferred Ender from his launch to Salamander and from Salamander
to Rat at the same time Ender was getting to known the kids in his group. Graff not only isolated
Ender, but he also took Ender s advocate, Valentine, and put her on their side. In this way, Graff was
controlling Ender s life. Valentine was used to influence Ender a couple of times, including the times
Valentine encouraged Ender to keep persevering in Battle School and Command School. Through all

Workplace Discrimination And Its Effects On Social...
Workplace discrimination is still prevalent and could have disastrous effects on social cohesion and
political stability if it continues unchecked. While the most blatant forms of discrimination at work
may have faded, many remain a persistent and daily part of the workplace, or are taking on more
subtle forms. Every day, around the world, discrimination at work is an unfortunate reality for
hundreds of millions of people. Women are by far the largest discriminated group, with the pay gap
between the sexes still significant in most countries. Racial discrimination also persists, though older
theories of the purported superiority of one racial or ethnic group over another have been replaced by
allegations that foreign and incompatible cultures may have disruptive effects on the integrity of
national identities. New forms of discrimination based on disability, HIV/AIDS, age or sexual
orientation have now become cause for growing concern.
Inequalities within discriminated groups are widening. Affirmative action policies, for example,
helped create a new middle class of formerly discriminated persons in some countries. A few rise to
the top of the social ladder, while most remain among the low paid and socially excluded.
Discrimination often traps people in low paid, informal economy jobs. The discriminated are often
stuck in the worst jobs, and denied benefits, social protection, training, capital, land or credit. Women
are more likely than men to be engaged in these more

Relationship Between ASLAnd FSL
American Sign Language is the primary language of communication amongst the Deaf community in
the United States. American Sign Language, more commonly referred to as ASL, is intriguing to many
with the ability to hear. Any form of sign language can draw attention from most bystanders. The use
of bodily language as a singular form of communication is vastly different for those who use body
language as an aid for understanding a spoken conversation. Many hearing people use body language
absent mindedly, from opening a one s stance to display dominance, to crossing arms to display
uncertainty or insecurity. However, those who use sign language purposely adjust their body language
in coherence with what they are saying. For example, in ASL, one ... Show more content on

Derived from French Sign Language, ASL has grammar that differs greatly from American English or
even British English. The close relationship between ASL and FSL is because of the first school for
the deaf opened in the United States. The school was founded by a Frenchman whose native language
was French Sign Language. (Tabak) Now many schools for the deaf have been opened throughout the
United States, yet the connections between ASL and FSL remain strong. Undoubtedly, ASL is a
singular language and like any two separate languages, a language barrier can result between hearing
English speaking parents and their deaf children. John Tabak, the author of Significant Gestures a
book on the education system for deaf children, discussed the language barrier generally between
hearing parents and deaf or hard of hearing children. The deaf students would head to school every
morning and spend most of their day conversing in sign, a language that is all their own, but when the
students were sent home the would be subjected to broken communication through signs, oral speech,
lip reading, and writing. Often the written communication of deaf children is different from hearing
students. As ASL is a separate language from English, it follows an entirely secular grammatical
system. Tabak eloquently summed up the difficulties facing the deaf education system, and the
relatively innovative approaches being implemented to adjust them. He mentions that there was a time
when deaf students at Austine School in Vermont were forced to communicate orally with all peers
and teachers. Now students at Austines can use ASL, which is a language belonging entirely to the
Deaf community here in the United States. Hence the importance of ASL being recognized as its own
language and not a subsection of English as many hearing people

Tort Reform And The Civil Justice System
Tort reform is an extremely debatable topic in the political legal fields. By definition, tort reform
refers to, The proposed changes made in the civil justice system that directly reduces tort litigation or
damages. Generally, when someone mentions tort reform to an everyday normal person who is not
familiar with legalese, they don t have any idea of what the term tort reform is. Throughout this, one
will understand through the three interviews conducted that two out of three people don t necessarily
understand the full concept of tort reform or have absolutely no idea what it is. One of the most
notorious cases that led to the ongoing debate of tort reform is Liebeck v. Mcdonald s Restaurant.
When the case is brought up, one will say, Isn t that the lady that burned herself with coffee and then

be able to see, this particular case is often misconstrued. In my personal opinion, after learning and
studying the facts of this case, I don t understand how a human being could be for tort reform after
actually learning about the trials and tribulations that certain people in these kinds of cases, especially
Stella Liebeck, have to go through. First, the initial opinion of two out of three people when asked
what is their opinion of the case is similar. The first interviewee, Tyler, believed Stella Liebeck just

Milwaukee Of The Civil Rights Movement
During the time of the civil rights movement, milwaukee was considered to be one of the most
segregated cities at the time. An extensive amount of African American had moved to the city during
and after world war II, and by the time of the civil rights movement, the black community had
accounted for 15 percent of Milwaukee s population . It isn t a surprise that majority of African
Americans in Milwaukee lived in the north side of the city, which accumulated increasing volatility
due to limited job opportunities, poverty, and segregation.Racial segregation in Milwaukee and around
the world has always been a phenomenon with intricate historical roots. The complex history of
slavery, employment discrimination, tax inequity, redlining, discriminatory housing policies, and
multiple other issue have lead Milwaukee to be segregated. Despite the fact that Milwaukee s has a
unique history, social forces and government policies created and reinforced residential segregation
throughout the united states, so why is Milwaukee worse than most cities in America? Well suburban
housing is more expensive than city housing and another thing that distinguishes metro Milwaukee

which prevents many minorities from being able to afford suburban housing. So segregation is a huge

Lyme Disease Analysis
Lyme disease or Lyme Borreliosis is a vector borne disease that is caused by spirochaete Borrelia
burgdorferi bacteria (WHO, 2016). These bacteria are transmitted through the bites of infected deer
ticks (WHO, 2016). Symptoms of the disease include fever, chills, headache, fatigue, muscle and joint
pain (WHO, 2016). Often a rash appears at the site of the tick bite and may gradually expand to a ring
around the bite. Lyme disease was first observed in the State of Connecticut in 1975. Currently, the
disease may be found in forested areas of Asia, Europe and the United States. In these areas deer ticks
feed on mice and rodents, which serve as a reservoir for this bacteria (MayoClinic.org, 2015). Then in

situations that are extremely vulnerable to potential exposure. Climate change is also impacting
disease transmission. Large environmental areas are shrinking due to urban sprawl which is leading to
increased populations density s, increased pathogen load, decreased distributions, and a greater
prevalence of disease (Mills, Gage, Khan, 2010). Thus, larger numbers of individuals are living in

they do present public health hazards. Climate change is adversely impacting environments and
humans are now living closer than ever to the boundaries of these diseases. In fact, in greater densely

Literary Techniques And Devices In The Lottery By Shirley...
When writing, authors use various writing techniques and devices to better their story. From
onomatopoeia, and similes, to mood and setting, these devices are what make the stories we read
astounding. Atmosphere specifically is imperative to a great writing piece as it is prevalent throughout
the entire story. From the first three words to the last three words, the reader is focused on the mood
they are interpreting from the storyline. In The Lottery written by Shirley Jackson, the mood is what
makes the story so amazing and helps us understand the theme. The story begins with a beautiful day
and blossoming flowers. Which gives the reader a sense of a light hearted childrens story. The
morning of June 27th was clear and Sunny... The flowers were blossoming profusely and the grass
was richly green. What do you think this sounds like? Initially, it sounded like something I could read
to my four year old sister. The mood is very happy go lucky as the story continues. School was
recently over for the summer, and the feeling of liberty sat uneasily on most of them. While reading
the story, I could relate to the it as I love the summer and love being off from school. This story could
have been in a regular town precisely an older town as it was stated to only have 300 or so people, and
they mentioned a station wagon. The mood had been cheerful continuously until a little uncertainty
appeared, when all of the children started collecting rocks and making piles. Dickie...

The Passion Of Mexicans By Mexico
Executive Summary
Mexico has gone through a very interesting history since the ancient years. It s a culture that quickly
involves you and makes you fall in love with it. The passion of Mexicans is reflected in every
movement of a daily life. The current situation of the country is quite complicated due to bribery,
corruption, unemployment, low wages, and lack of people s interest on education; we can also find
problems due poverty, and the difference between the social statuses. Mexicans are tired of the
killings, kidnaps, insecurity and things that they have to face during daylight and night. In this
research I cover most of the situations that may influence the country to take any decision. Private

Mexico is popular for its conventions speaking to the religion, culture and governmental issues in the
course of the last five hundred years. A portion of the major occasions celebrate the gala of the Lady
of Guadalupe, which is a Catholic festival of the presence of the Virgin Mary to an Indian man at the
outset of the times where the Spanish were the leader of the nation. There is also the Day of the Dead,
a celebration that combines indigenous and catholic rituals for the honor of the deceased. The Mexican
Independence Day when Mexico s rural poor fight to pull down the Spanish while they were having
the control of the country.
The music is a very important piece of the Mexican culture, and it is always part of a celebration
whether big or small. Mexican music sings for love, passion, for the country, of its history, legends
and oppression, among other topics.
The recession of 2008 was the worst in the country for the last 70 years. The 2008 09 financial crisis

Integrating Deck Departments
The Integration Of Deck And Engineering Departments

Integration of Deck Department with the Engineering department
Disagreements between Departments and duty sections at small boat stations have become more
commonplace, and seem to be on the rise. The integration of the Deck and Engineering departments
would spread out the work load, increase productivity and raise the standards of upkeep on the unit s
small boats. Spreading out the work load among a larger department would allow the unit to
accomplish the same amount of work, in less time. Allowing personnel to spend more time training
and learning each other s job. Not only does integration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

one of the most rewarding times of my Coast Guard career. We were divided among our departments,
but united in our mission and when the ship sailed we were all the same, we all wanted to complete
the mission safely and return home to our family s. If I could bring that kind of attitude into a station
environment we would all succeed at our jobs and the Coast Guards Mission. Together, as a

Mandate Of Heaven Analysis
Throughout pre unification China, the Mandate of Heaven was used as a justification in the
acquisition and eradication of dynasties. The Mandate of Heaven, the idea that a ruler reigned only
with the blessing of the heavens, was seen as a way to legitimize a dynasty and its ruler. Although it
may seem as if a heavenly mandate gives a ruler absolute power, this is actually not the case. Instead,
Mencius, a philosopher who emphasizes benevolent governance, asserts that a ruler can both acquire
and lose the heavenly mandate based on his behavior and the treatment of his subjects. If a ruler is not
equitable, in other words, the Mandate of Heaven can be withdrawn and bestowed upon a more
qualified ruler. Thus, although the mandate sounds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Essentially, the heavens bestow the mandate upon the ruler, but the people are a factor in whether the
mandate stays with the ruler or not. Hence, Mencius emphasizes the importance of just rule in order to
please the people and keep the Mandate of Heaven.
Mencius once again underscores the people s role in the heavenly mandate and declares their right to
either abide by or revolt against a ruler. Mencius claims that rulers only possessed the Heavenly
Mandate to rule so long as they retained the hearts of the people . . . For Mencius, the human heart
was endowed with the ability to judge between right and wrong and constituted a bridge linking man
with Heaven (Glanville 331). Mencius s belief in the ability of the heart to determine right or wrong
gives the common people authority and power to identify whether a ruler is worthy of the mandate and
the favor of the heavens. Consequently, it is imperative that the ruler retains the people s support as
negative sentiments can lead to dissent and organized revolt amongst the people. This emphasis on the
intimate and powerful link between the people and the heavens is translated in Mencius s concept of
the ultimate supremacy of the people. Mencius declares that The people are of supreme importance;
the altars to the gods of earth and grain come next; last comes the ruler (Glanville 332). Mencius

Whether it s creative writing, analysis essays or just research papers, finding new ways to express my
thoughts with colorful language is exciting to me. Your Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts school
offers me the opportunity to combine all those writing types into one major. The Culture and Media
major appeals to me most due to its broad topics of study. I can be trained in all the topics that interest
me at once without having to go through the troubles of double majoring. The small and concentrated
aura around this college is perfect for me because I have always worked better in calmer
environments. The fact that this program is more student led and independent is also ideal for me,
being someone who prefers to be in charge of my education and my work proves this. Not only is
writing a big part of my life, I ve been playing music since I was six years old. Piano specifically. I
was trained classically since the start of my musical career and have done a few recitals showcasing
my talent. Since the start of freshman year I have picked up on trombone and I love it. I always
thought music would be my first choice for everything. It was only recently where I realized that
practically, writing is the way to go. I think I am better at writing, it comes naturally for me. Even
though music stays a very prominent part of my life, I ve decided to minor in Music Composition so I

An anti hero in the most common protagonist in the genre of noir who mostly has some negative
qualities like aggressiveness and dishonesty, also according to the Wikipedia, An anti hero is a
protagonist who lacks conventional heroic qualities such as idealism, courage, and morality. By the
definition and reading through James M. Cain s novel Double Indemnity, we are sure that Walter Huff
in this book is the anti hero, because of his ruthless murder. For example, Walter first uses his
knowledge in insurance to kill Phyllis husband in order to get money and Phyllis, and he also tries to

choice shows his characteristic; he does not choose to stop Phyllis s idea but help her finish the

People And The Thai Born Talent That Hit The Fashion Runway
Thailandese Americans and the Thai born Talent that Struck the Fashion Runway Within the last few
decades, there has been a great influx of Asians who have migrated to the United States. In 1985,
Asian immigrants made up less than half of the total immigrant population, many of which have
settled in New York City and California. The selective phenomenon known as migration has been
impelled by the demographic, economic, social and psychological attributes of the location (Desbarats

Occupation became the driving force for some; the numbers of professional immigration, however,
were lower than compared to other Asians. Unlike the low rate of workers, there is an increasing
number of Thai youngsters, in keeping with the national tradition of openness to Western influences
(Desbarats 306). It was believed that education through the United States would lead to professional
success. Student visas were only obtained if the student had financial support as well as the incentive
to go back to Thailand usually in the form of financial ties with their home country (Desbarats 307).
Many immigrants found themselves burdened by the conditions of living in the states. The financial
and psychological struggles were not worth it when immigrants were risking to construct networks,
maintain homeland ties and, ensure that remittances reach families left behind (Barkan 19).
Immigrants who stay in the states try to balance assimilation to the dominant American culture while
still want to feel a sense of their homeland. They try to make a connection whether it be through food,
familiar neighbors or the knowledge of language and dance which gets lost in the later generations.
The primary contact with American culture happens through interaction with their American peers
(Tangsujjapoj 3). Social participation is what breaks the way for

FDI In Tourism And Tourism s Impact On Tourism
Although tourism is the most liberalised sector under the GATS, especially on the mode 3
(commercial presence), there is astonishingly little empirical study on the impact of FDI on tourism.
Dwyer and Forsyth (1994) argued that the analysis of FDI impacts on tourism has been ignored and
has enticed less attention in the literature than what was supposed. Buckley and Geyikdagi (1996) then
pointed out that the difficulties in gaining information and data caused the analysis of FDI on tourism

associated with the character of tourism that is not a singular activity. Tourism consisted of many
separated and related activities, covering food and beverage, transportation, entertainment, sports,
accommodation, culture, conventions, trade fairs, and recreation. Tourism also involved an extensive
variety of companies ranging from multinational corporations ( MNCs ) to tiny enterprises, allowing a
number of diverse scales and levels in the market to partake in tourism. Some experts, nevertheless,
analysed the adverse impacts of FDI on tourism on the environment. Perrin (2001) showed how GATS
has significantly increased FDI in tourism. Putting Belek, Turkey as a case study, the increase of FDI
has been followed by over concentration in key areas of activity and primary locations, leading to the
exploitation of other resources in the region. Specifically, the constructions of

Bible Justice
Justice is something, that I believe, each and every person in this world deeply desires. But, justice
does not mean the same thing for every individual. Justice, in fact, can have many different meanings.
To the majority, justice means fairness or equality. However, in the Bible, the word justice is
sometimes translated judgment and righteousness (Hollinger, 2009). At times, God s justice is linked
to God s holiness (Hollinger, 2009) and on other occasions, God s justice is what meets the demands
of God s holiness and retributive justice or judgment, thereby procuring human salvation through
Christ s death on the cross (Hollinger, 2009). In the beautiful passage of Scripture, Micah 6:6 8, Israel
asks the Lord what He desires of them. Israel had been a very disobedient group of people and were
unsure how to come before the Lord, because their sin had distanced them from Him. They were
asking the Lord if they should bring sacrifices, such as a burnt offering, with calves a year old (Micah

(Hollinger, 2009). Biblical justice is also associated with fairness and integrity (Hollinger, 2009).
Justice is also a special concern for the oppressed, the poor, and those who lack the means of self

The Process Of A Student
Student interns either schedule a follow up appointment with the patient or they are done and walk
them out. The student goes to their office and puts a progress note of wat happened in E record. The
intern will then fax all the appropriate referrals for the patient on to the agencies that will be providing
the services. The next stage in the logic model is outputs. In case management this would be the
patients receiving the services we helped them sign up for. To make sure that this happens the interns
have to call places that they have faxed the patient s information to, to see if and when they will be
accepted into that program. If they will not be accepted the student needs to bring the patient back in
and find a different solution for the patient. Sometimes for the patient to receive the services the
student has to go out into the field. In Rochester, they have now set new restrictions on when and
where you can go to food pantries. There are some places that only case managers can go. The student
could go and get food for their patients, if their patients and the students could not find a local pantry

The Assassination of Franz Ferdinand Essay
While there is never just a single event that has led to the start of a world war, or any other serious
war, there is often one thing that triggers long lived tensions and thus war ensues. Such was the case in
WWI with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. There were many tensions that existed
prior to his assassination, but it was his assassination which triggered the war, his assassination that
served as an excuse, and perhaps the last straw, so to speak, which led to the First World War. The

The European leaders and individuals were perhaps becoming very untrusting of one another, and the
tensions were rising as no one would rely on the agreements made by anyone. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;
nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;As a result of all this tension and distrust, in combination with the
assassination of Ferdinand, many nations came together or attacked certain nations that were a threat.
For example, the assassination led Austria to declare war on Serbia and Germany declared war on
Russia, and then France and then Belgium (Cox). Great Britain then declared war on Germany and
Japan on Germany (Cox). Clearly there were many tensions that were just waiting for the right
moment, the breaking of the camel s back, to push nations to truly act. And, since other nations were

1. A) Skills Training: The primary motor cortex is made up of interconnected neural assemblies
(localized groups of neurons with similar inputs and outputs), that control movements in the fingers,
hands, and legs. This coordinated activation can then be made complex and lets us do multijoint
movements such as reaching. Before the study the theory was that during skills learning, the
connectivity between these neural assemblies change. These changes were viewed as differences in
cortical synapse numbers, synaptic strength, and the topography of stimulation evoked movement
representation. They did a study with adult rats to measure these changes while they do an obstacle
course. Some rats had to learn limb placement and posture control to finish a complex obstacle course,
and the others walked an unobstructed course. The rats that were required to learn limb placement and
posture control because of the complex obstacle course, showed increases in synapse number within
the motor cortex compare to the rats doing the simple obstacle. The synaptic changes seen here are
thought to show the changes in cortical circuitry that results in the reorganization of the neural
assemblies encoding movement. Therefore proving the theory correct. All this data indicates that

For example, consider a newborn baby who is hungry and cries when it needs to be feed, or when it
needs to be changed. When a baby wants something, it will cry regardless of the situation and without
any consideration for others. This behavior is the result of the id and its desire to have its basic needs
meet.
As the individuals, basic needs are met and these needs become more of a want than a need, and
becomes more of a conscious thought than an unconscious one, the ego begins to form. The ego is the
rational, pragmatic part of our personality ( Freudian Psychoanalytic Theory of Personality Boundless

ego has no concept of right or wrong; something is good simply if it achieves its end of satisfying

As the ego struggles to keep the id happy and encounters obstacles, it keeps a record of those obstacles

Theme Of Allegory In A Rose For Emily
Raymond Carter once said, It s possible, in a poem or short story, to write about commonplace things
and objects using commonplace but precise language, and to endow those things a chair, a window
curtain, a fork, a stone, a woman s earring with immense, even startling power. A Rose for Emily , a
satire, exposes the life of the Old South and development of the allegory through the characters. Each
representing an allegorical representation of different political aspects within the South and their
loyalty to their tradition. The life of the Old South ended abruptly when Miss Emily died because she
is an allegorical representation of the Old South and her death signifies the end of it. Miss Emily is
metaphorically referred to as a fallen monument by the narrator which reveals the judgmental and
distasteful tone that alludes to the importance of tradition; which in this case is her father who had
robbed her free will by driving away all the bachelors to maintain her honor. Members of the
community including the narrator believed Miss Emily had betrayed her father and them by dating
Homer Barron who was a northerner. Her relationship with Homer Barron, represents reunion of the
Confederate States/ Old South with the rest of America/ the North and their submission the members

Theories And Aspects Of A Place At Festival Foods And...
After conducting both parts of the data collection, we have noticed what theories and aspects of the
store helps customers to become satisfied during their trip. The atmosphere of the store which is set
through lighting, texture, and music played a significant role in customer s experience. As mentioned
previously in the report, the atmosphere of a store is important to how consumers will interact with
products and make decisions within the store. The atmosphere at Festival Foods and Capitol Centre
Market were very different. Festival Foods was more open and natural lighting was prominent. On the
other hand, Capitol Centre Market was overall more enclosed with very little to no natural lighting.

The grid organization of both grocery stores helped people easily find what they needed while
encouraging people to buy more items. The signage is also another factor that influence customers
wayfinding and shopping satisfaction. Festival food particularly had very good signage. Each different
districts of the grocery store was well marked and each aisle was numbered and had overhanging signs
with the type of items that were in each aisle. Similarly, Capitol Centre Market s aisle were also
labeled, however, the signage was minimal can make it difficult to find the product people needs. The
minimal signage, according to the customers we interviewed, was compensated by the fact that their
employees were helpful and knowledgeable about where things are. It is also important to keep in
mind that Festival Foods is a significantly larger grocery store than Capitol Centre Market so the
signage for the two different stores varied. Overall, most of the interviewees were easily able to find
the items they needed with the help of signs, organization, and employees.
The theory of Gibson s Affordances, a concept that refers to the idea that certain surfaces, substances
or layouts will elicit specific behavioral responses in people (Gifford, 2014, p. 30) is also apparent and
extremely relevant. For example, Festival Foods has tall vertical aisles in a store which encourages
customers to proceeds to walk through them because

Lycaonia, Pisidia, and Phrygia.10 Chapters 13 and 14 of the book of Acts indicate that Paul traveled
within the southern cities of Galatia on his first missionary journey.11 Although there is no explicit
mention of Paul visiting the northern territory, some believe that Acts 16:6 and 18:23 provide clear
indications that Paul was in the North not the South. 12 The North Many believe that the letter of
Galatians was written to those who lived in the northern territory of Galatia. Although this view was

Bullying And Its Effect On Schools
While bullying has occurred for many years, anti bullying programs in schools are having a strict
development. Bullying was not an important subject that was paid much attention in schools or
classrooms before 1999. When the Columbine and Virginia Tech shooting happened, schools did not
have any anti bullying programs. In 1999, schools started to implement anti bullying programs like
The Espelage Lab and Collaborator and many others. Unfortunately, bullying is still happening in
nowadays. Bullying tragedies are in nowadays active. One big example is the bullying tragic ending:
Angel Green hanged herself in a tree outside of her school so her bullies could see her every morning
(Goad, 2015). This and many other tragedies have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All these interactive activities are also known as Universal actions. As for results, the Kiva program
has demonstrated reductions in bullying and victimization, while it promoted students empathy toward
victimized peers and self efficacy to help them. The Kiva program has shown increases in school
liking and social motivation ( Salmivalli et al, 2013).
Emphasis on the Teacher
Teachers Roles Teachers can be seen as authority figures, and can stand up for behavioral norms in
classrooms (Veenstra, Lindenberg, Tinga, Ormell, 2010). When teachers are more involved in
preventing bullying and help to create a positive environment, students can feel confident to talk to the
teacher if there is a bullying problem (Veentra et al, 2014). Positive relationships between students and
teachers can help strengthen anti bullying norms (Veentra et al, 2014). Programs to support teachers
efficacy and attitudes are very important to help bullying victims in a classroom. Bullying incidents
mostly take place on the playground, hallways, lunchroom, and other place where teachers are not
around (Veenstra et al, 2014). Unfortunately, teachers are not able to support anti bullying norms
while they are not around (Atlas, Pepler, 1998). But still victims feel teachers are not able to protect
them, when teachers are around (Novick Isaacs, 2010).
Approaches highlighting teachers

The Elements Of Existentialism In Jean Sartre s No Exit
Jean Sartre uses elements of existentialism in No exit to function as a metaphor for the hellish impact
of war. Sartre employs imagery, allusion, and imprisonment in order to express the tragedies and
complexities of living under Nazi occupation. In No Exit, Jean Sartre uses imagery in order to
represent how the living room, or hell , was controlled by an external force , The Nazi party. In the
opening scene Garcin notes, Second Empire furniture, I observe. . . Well, well, I dare say one gets
used to it in time . The Second Empire was another occupation in France lead by Napoleon the Third
in which the working class was mobilized and living conditions became much tougher. The fact that
the room is furnished by a previous occupation shows how this Hell that they are in, is completely
controlled by an external force such as a regime. The room in which they stay signifies hell within the
book but externally is being likened to living under the Nazi occupation and how unconventionally
hell like it was. There were curfews, restrictions on food, music, dance, art but there were no
instruments of torture in the book or the occupation in France at the time either. This shows how they
were not being tortured in the conventional sense, but there was a strong presence of mental torture
that that characters go through within the book. They face many challenges including privacy which is
hard to come by in one living room to the point where Inez states, Don t forget I m here,

Analysis Of Jhumpa Lahiri s Novel The Namesake
Jhumpa Lahiri s novel The Namesake (2003) is a culture oriented, more precisely, a Bengali diasporic
culture oriented novel. As a diasporic novel it represents the diasporic themes like displaced,
dislocated and deterritorised feelings of the first generation expatriates like Ashima Ganguli, the
female protagonist of the novel; assimilated, translational and transcultural tendency among the
diasporic people, especially among the second generation immigrants in the novel like Gogol Ganguli,
Sonali Ganguli and Moushumi Mazoomdar; a feeling of nostalgia towards the natal/imaginary
homeland by the first generation expatriates like Ashima Ganguli; the community feeling among the
diasporic people; the familial, human relationships within a diasporic family in a diasporic land and
other traits. Ashima Ganguli is moored in diasporic land with her feelings of rootlessness/uprooting/re
rooting/tracking root and also finds routes to discover her at home in many homes in the world. The
Bengali diasporic cultures are amalgamated dexterously in the texture of the novel. Lahiri s The
Namesake was adapted as a film in 2006, released on March 9, 2007, following screenings at film
festivals in Toronto and New York City. The film is directed by an Indian born filmmaker Mira Nair,
living in the US. Sooni Taraporevala adapted the novel into a screenplay. The film received positive
reviews/acclaims from American critics and won Love is Folly International Film Festival (Bulgaria)

Michael Jordan Persuasion
LeBron James and Michael Jordan: Chasing the Greatest of All Time Since the beginning of the NBA
there have always been transcendent stars whose ability, charisma, and championship drive defined
their personas. Michael Jordan is widely considered to be the greatest basketball player of all time,
with the exception of perhaps Kareem Abdul Jabbar who played in a completely different era.
However, before Jordan there was Julius Erving (Dr. J). When Jordan came into the league, he was
labeled the next Dr. J, who was considered to be a magician on the court. Jordan was a clone of Dr. J
in the late 1980s even to the point where he held a plethora of awards but experienced little in the way
of success. When Jordan finally won a championship his career, ... Show more content on

LeBron thus far has averaged 27.2 points per game compared to Jordan s 30.1. Jordan won the scoring
title nine more times than LeBron but only averaged three more points per game. A major discrepancy
between the two lies within the comparison of rebounds per game and assists per game. LeBron
averages 7.2 rebounds and 6.9 assists, making him a triple double threat every night. Meanwhile,
Jordan averaged only 6.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists, which, while fantastic for a guard in any era, is not
quite the same as LeBron s total impact on the ballgame. In the end, LeBron s legacy will ultimately
be defined by the number of championships he wins compared to Jordan. He may never get to six but
not many ever will. LeBron s legacy should be defined by his domination over his peers in
conjunction with his ability to morph the game generally to his all around abilities even though he has
never been the pure scorer Jordan

Toxic Waste And Hazardous Waste
Toxic wastes are a big problem what we are still facing today around the world. Most of this toxic
waste is affecting our water that people need to survive with. Drinking water is now dangerous in
certain parts of the world, and water is very essential to living. If they can t have drinking water, how
do we expect them to have water to clean them as well? With the toxic wastes being a big controversy,
we as a whole need to stand up and fix this problem for everyone. People only want to take control
when it is hitting home, with their neighbors and family and friends. What few have failed to realize, it
has been in our homes as well.
There is a difference between toxic waste and hazardous waste that many people don t know about.
People just categorize all negative aspects of waste as hazardous, even though neither one is good for
yourself or the environment. Toxic waste is when only the negative is digested or absorbed, then in
can be harmful to the body. This includes things that can cause birth defects, injuries, or death to
living organisms. While hazardous waste is when it is a solid, liquid, or gas that contains one or more
of these properties; reactive, can be ignitable, can corrode, or has toxicity and which may have to be
handled, stored, transported, and disposed of in a controlled manner.
According to the California Department of Toxic Substances Control, hazardous waste is described as
a waste that has substances in it that can make it harmful to human health

Romeo And Juliet Ambition Essay
The beautiful thing about Shakespeare s writings is that while they may not be canonically connected,
they share similar aspects in terms of central themes or driving forces. This is most notable in many of
Shakespeare s tragedies since he uses many of the same faults of man to create a tragic ending. One of
these recurring fatal flaws is ambition, and interestingly enough, Shakespeare crafts his work in such a
way that the characters all show their passionate ambition in very different ways depending on the
story. Shakespeare uses ambition as a prominent driving force in Hamlet, Julius Caesar, Romeo and
Juliet, and Titus Andronicus, and how he views ambition changes between each story. Hamlet and
Julius Caesar are both primarily driven by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These drastic actions show how ambitious Hamlet was to avenge the wrongful death of his father and
remove Claudius from the throne.
Claudius is the other major example of ambition in the story, as shown through his drastic measures
taken to assure that no one discovers that he killed the King and used his death as an opportunity to
take up the crown. It is revealed to Hamlet by his father s ghost that Claudius killed the former ruler in
his own garden by pouring poison into his ear. This is very characteristic of Shakespeare s tragedies,
characters will kill each other off for their own ambitious agendas without hesitation for morals or law
and Claudius fits into this trend perfectly. To further ensure that his status as king is not compromised,
he seduces the King s wife, Gertrude, and attempts to get Hamlet to forget his father by calling his
grief childish and a hindrance to his role as the prince (365). The King s ghost informs Hamlet that
Gertrude was one of the most virtuous women alive and wouldn t have taken lightly to his sudden
death, so it is apparent that Claudius took extreme measures to get Gertrude on his side. To go through
all this work to ensure that he remained in power proves that Claudius was just as ambitious to
achieve power as Hamlet was to remove him from it.
The famous story of Caesar s rise to power and the opposition he faces from his so called friends and
allies, Julius Caesar is another prominent

Third, the contradictory claim gender constructs politics by Joan Scott will be explained. Both politics (all relationships involving unequal distributions of power) and gender involve cultural definitions and as a result politics and gender have influence on each other. Historians, as Joan Scott states, must be aware the influence that politics and gender have on one another in order to create a complete, accurate history. The idea that historians should be aware that politics constructs gender in the first part of Scott s claim seems logical. In order to understand why it is important for historians to be attentive to the idea that politics constructs gender it must be demonstrated what Joan Scott meant by this claim. All relationships can be defined by their respective balance of power. There is either an equal balance of power or there is an unequal balance of power. Relationships that have an unequal balance of power, as Joan Scott defines, involve politics. It can be generalized that in order to maintain power those with influence create rules or perform actions that seek to sustain their authority. The rules and actions do not have to be formal and include methods such as labeling individuals, biological groups, or socially created groups such as gender. Over time, gender type has been associated, or labeled, with power by those who have the power. As the balances of power change over time, the rules and actions towards those ... Without these elements, he lacks love and cannot survive the world. A passage in chapter three describes him as a lonely man that is isolated from the world around him. Clara and Ambrose and Alice and Temelcoff and Cato this cluster made up a drama without him. And he himself was noting but a prism that refracted their lives. The thing that he is looking for is light. This ambiguous concept of light Ondaatje presents throughout the novel is not ordinary light, but one that illuminates the void of darkness. Just like the moths that Patrick is intrigued by that only tend toward light at night, Patrick only seeks light when there is none around him. Patrick continues his eternal search for light because he has none of his own to emit. The central theme behind many stories is the loss and regaining of identity. Patrick has no identity of his own, and his only way of gaining a temporary one is through light. And he himself was nothing but a prism that refracted their lives. (Ondaatje, pg.157) A prism, by definition, refracts light into a spectrum of colors. Correspondingly, Patrick contorts other characters identities as his own. The readers are introduced to this concept of reflecting light even before the novel begins. This is indicated by, (D)riving the four hours to Marmora under six stars and a moon. Patrick is the moon; he can only reflect a star s light. When reflecting light from the six stars, the main characters in the novel, Patrick is able to gain a temporary identity. This is what Patrick is searching for his true identity. Throughout the novel, Patrick becomes like the people he associates with, and he gains a temporary identity and purpose. Many people consider Russia and its people to be hostile. However, that is not true. There are many examples to prove this. Russia has a very interesting past, affectionate culture, and many places to visit. Russia s history and language is very fascinating. In 1500 BC, the Slavs traveled through the Steppes into Western Russia and Poland. They settled and lived there for many centuries. In the Ninth Century, the Viking tribe, Rus, was moving inland. They settled and based themselves in Novgorod. Over the years, Russia developed its name from this Viking tribe. In 882, the Rus leader, Oleg, moved from Novgorod to Kiev. Here, Oleg would negotiate a treaty with Byzantine Empire. Into the 10th Century, the Rus still control Kiev, until Vladimir is proclaimed Prince of All of Russia. Vladimir is the first true Russian in the history of Russia. Vladimir s son , Yaroslav, establishes Kiev as the capital of Russia 39 years later. This act would mostly attack peer to peer networks and force the FBI and the U.S. Copyright Office to develop anti piracy programs (AFM). Since 2003 the RIAA has aggressively pursued music pirates on the internet who have contributed to a substantial amount of illegal downloading. They have won hundreds of guilty pleas averaging a reported $3000 per case settlement (Dean). RIAA President, Cary Sherman stated the legal actions taken by the record companies have been effective in educating the American public that illegal file sharing of copyrighted material has significant consequences. Consumers are increasingly attracted to the host of compelling legal online music alternatives. These lawsuits help to foster an environment that provides a level playing field for these services to succeed. Workplace discrimination is still prevalent and could have disastrous effects on social cohesion and political stability if it continues unchecked. While the most blatant forms of discrimination at work may have faded, many remain a persistent and daily part of the workplace, or are taking on more subtle forms. Every day, around the world, discrimination at work is an unfortunate reality for hundreds of millions of people. Women are by far the largest discriminated group, with the pay gap between the sexes still significant in most countries. Racial discrimination also persists, though older theories of the purported superiority of one racial or ethnic group over another have been replaced by allegations that foreign and incompatible cultures may have disruptive effects on the integrity of national identities. New forms of discrimination based on disability, HIV/AIDS, age or sexual orientation have now become cause for growing concern. Inequalities within discriminated groups are widening. Affirmative action policies, for example, helped create a new middle class of formerly discriminated persons in some countries. A few rise to the top of the social ladder, while most remain among the low paid and socially excluded. Discrimination often traps people in low paid, informal economy jobs. Derived from French Sign Language, ASL has grammar that differs greatly from American English or even British English. The close relationship between ASL and FSL is because of the first school for the deaf opened in the United States. The school was founded by a Frenchman whose native language was French Sign Language. (Tabak) Now many schools for the deaf have been opened throughout the United States, yet the connections between ASL and FSL remain strong. Undoubtedly, ASL is a singular language and like any two separate languages, a language barrier can result between hearing English speaking parents and their deaf children. John Tabak, the author of Significant Gestures a book on the education system for deaf children, discussed the language barrier generally between hearing parents and deaf or hard of hearing children. The deaf students would head to school every morning and spend most of their day conversing in sign, a language that is all their own, but when the students were sent home the would be subjected to broken communication through signs, oral speech, lip reading, and writing. Often the written communication of deaf children is different from hearing students. As ASL is a separate language from English, it follows an entirely secular grammatical system. Tabak eloquently summed up the difficulties facing the deaf education system, and the relatively innovative approaches being implemented to adjust them. He mentions that there was a time when deaf students at Austine School in Vermont were forced to communicate orally with all peers and teachers. Now students at Austines can use ASL, which is a language belonging entirely to the Deaf community here in the United States. Hence the importance of ASL being recognized as its own language and not a subsection of English as many hearing people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From onomatopoeia, and similes, to mood and setting, these devices are what make the stories we read astounding. Atmosphere specifically is imperative to a great writing piece as it is prevalent throughout the entire story. From the first three words to the last three words, the reader is focused on the mood they are interpreting from the storyline. • 23. Mandate Of Heaven Analysis Throughout pre unification China, the Mandate of Heaven was used as a justification in the acquisition and eradication of dynasties. The Mandate of Heaven, the idea that a ruler reigned only with the blessing of the heavens, was seen as a way to legitimize a dynasty and its ruler. Although it may seem as if a heavenly mandate gives a ruler absolute power, this is actually not the case. Instead, Mencius, a philosopher who emphasizes benevolent governance, asserts that a ruler can both acquire and lose the heavenly mandate based on his behavior and the treatment of his subjects. If a ruler is not equitable, in other words, the Mandate of Heaven can be withdrawn and bestowed upon a more qualified ruler. Thus, although the mandate sounds ... Hence, Mencius emphasizes the importance of just rule in order to please the people and keep the Mandate of Heaven. Mencius once again underscores the people s role in the heavenly mandate and declares their right to either abide by or revolt against a ruler. Mencius claims that rulers only possessed the Heavenly Mandate to rule so long as they retained the hearts of the people . . . For Mencius, the human heart was endowed with the ability to judge between right and wrong and constituted a bridge linking man with Heaven (Glanville 331). Mencius s belief in the ability of the heart to determine right or wrong gives the common people authority and power to identify whether a ruler is worthy of the mandate and the favor of the heavens. Consequently, it is imperative that the ruler retains the people s support as negative sentiments can lead to dissent and organized revolt amongst the people. This emphasis on the intimate and powerful link between the people and the heavens is translated in Mencius s concept of the ultimate supremacy of the people. Mencius declares that The people are of supreme importance; the altars to the gods of earth and grain come next; last comes the ruler (Glanville 332). Mencius prioritizes the ... A) Skills Training: The primary motor cortex is made up of interconnected neural assemblies (localized groups of neurons with similar inputs and outputs), that control movements in the fingers, hands, and legs. This coordinated activation can then be made complex and lets us do multijoint movements such as reaching. Before the study the theory was that during skills learning, the connectivity between these neural assemblies change. These changes were viewed as differences in cortical synapse numbers, synaptic strength, and the topography of stimulation evoked movement representation. They did a study with adult rats to measure these changes while they do an obstacle course. Some rats had to learn limb placement and posture control to finish a complex obstacle course, and the others walked an unobstructed course. The rats that were required to learn limb placement and posture control because of the complex obstacle course, showed increases in synapse number within the motor cortex compare to the rats doing the simple obstacle. Theme Of Allegory In A Rose For Emily Raymond Carter once said, It s possible, in a poem or short story, to write about commonplace things and objects using commonplace but precise language, and to endow those things a chair, a window curtain, a fork, a stone, a woman s earring with immense, even startling power. A Rose for Emily , a satire, exposes the life of the Old South and development of the allegory through the characters. Each representing an allegorical representation of different political aspects within the South and their loyalty to their tradition. The life of the Old South ended abruptly when Miss Emily died because she is an allegorical representation of the Old South and her death signifies the end of it. Miss Emily is metaphorically referred to as a fallen monument by the narrator which reveals the judgmental and distasteful tone that alludes to the importance of tradition; which in this case is her father who had robbed her free will by driving away all the bachelors to maintain her honor. Members of the community including the narrator believed Miss Emily had betrayed her father and them by dating Homer Barron who was a northerner. Her relationship with Homer Barron, represents reunion of the Confederate States/ Old South with the rest of America/ the North and their submission the members in the society thought that grief could not cause a real lady to forget noblesse oblige typifies the southerners reaction to the outcome of the civil war and their disappointment, they did ... Similarly, Capitol Centre Market s aisle were also labeled, however, the signage was minimal can make it difficult to find the product people needs. The minimal signage, according to the customers we interviewed, was compensated by the fact that their employees were helpful and knowledgeable about where things are. It is also important to keep in mind that Festival Foods is a significantly larger grocery store than Capitol Centre Market so the signage for the two different stores varied. Overall, most of the interviewees were easily able to find the items they needed with the help of signs, organization, and employees. The theory of Gibson s Affordances, a concept that refers to the idea that certain surfaces, substances or layouts will elicit specific behavioral responses in people (Gifford, 2014, p. 30) is also apparent and extremely relevant. For example, Festival Foods has tall vertical aisles in a store which encourages customers to proceeds to walk through them because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1999, schools started to implement anti bullying programs like The Espelage Lab and Collaborator and many others. Unfortunately, bullying is still happening in nowadays. Emphasis on the Teacher Teachers Roles Teachers can be seen as authority figures, and can stand up for behavioral norms in classrooms (Veenstra, Lindenberg, Tinga, Ormell, 2010). When teachers are more involved in preventing bullying and help to create a positive environment, students can feel confident to talk to the teacher if there is a bullying problem (Veentra et al, 2014). Unfortunately, teachers are not able to support anti bullying norms while they are not around (Atlas, Pepler, 1998). • 45. The Elements Of Existentialism In Jean Sartre s No Exit Jean Sartre uses elements of existentialism in No exit to function as a metaphor for the hellish impact of war. Sartre employs imagery, allusion, and imprisonment in order to express the tragedies and complexities of living under Nazi occupation. In No Exit, Jean Sartre uses imagery in order to represent how the living room, or hell , was controlled by an external force , The Nazi party. In the opening scene Garcin notes, Second Empire furniture, I observe. . . Well, well, I dare say one gets used to it in time . The Second Empire was another occupation in France lead by Napoleon the Third in which the working class was mobilized and living conditions became much tougher. The fact that the room is furnished by a previous occupation shows how this Hell that they are in, is completely controlled by an external force such as a regime. The room in which they stay signifies hell within the book but externally is being likened to living under the Nazi occupation and how unconventionally hell like it was. There were curfews, restrictions on food, music, dance, art but there were no instruments of torture in the book or the occupation in France at the time either. This shows how they were not being tortured in the conventional sense, but there was a strong presence of mental torture that that characters go through within the book. Michael Jordan Persuasion LeBron James and Michael Jordan: Chasing the Greatest of All Time Since the beginning of the NBA there have always been transcendent stars whose ability, charisma, and championship drive defined their personas. Michael Jordan is widely considered to be the greatest basketball player of all time, with the exception of perhaps Kareem Abdul Jabbar who played in a completely different era. However, before Jordan there was Julius Erving (Dr. J). When Jordan came into the league, he was labeled the next Dr. J, who was considered to be a magician on the court. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... LeBron thus far has averaged 27.2 points per game compared to Jordan s 30.1. Jordan won the scoring title nine more times than LeBron but only averaged three more points per game. Meanwhile, Jordan averaged only 6.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists, which, while fantastic for a guard in any era, is not quite the same as LeBron s total impact on the ballgame. In the end, LeBron s legacy will ultimately be defined by the number of championships he wins compared to Jordan. He may never get to six but not many ever will. • 49. Romeo And Juliet Ambition Essay The beautiful thing about Shakespeare s writings is that while they may not be canonically connected, they share similar aspects in terms of central themes or driving forces. This is most notable in many of Shakespeare s tragedies since he uses many of the same faults of man to create a tragic ending. One of these recurring fatal flaws is ambition, and interestingly enough, Shakespeare crafts his work in such a way that the characters all show their passionate ambition in very different ways depending on the story. Shakespeare uses ambition as a prominent driving force in Hamlet, Julius Caesar, Romeo and Juliet, and Titus Andronicus, and how he views ambition changes between each story. Hamlet and Julius Caesar are both primarily driven by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These drastic actions show how ambitious Hamlet was to avenge the wrongful death of his father and remove Claudius from the throne. Claudius is the other major example of ambition in the story, as shown through his drastic measures taken to assure that no one discovers that he killed the King and used his death as an opportunity to take up the crown. It is revealed to Hamlet by his father s ghost that Claudius killed the former ruler in his own garden by pouring poison into his ear. This is very characteristic of Shakespeare s tragedies, characters will kill each other off for their own ambitious agendas without hesitation for morals or law and Claudius fits into this trend perfectly. To further ensure that his status as king is not compromised, he seduces the King s wife, Gertrude, and attempts to get Hamlet to forget his father by calling his grief childish and a hindrance to his role as the prince (365). The King s ghost informs Hamlet that Gertrude was one of the most virtuous women alive and wouldn t have taken lightly to his sudden death, so it is apparent that Claudius took extreme measures to get Gertrude on his side. To go through all this work to ensure that he remained in power proves that Claudius was just as ambitious to achieve power as Hamlet was to remove him from it.
