2. What Is Radical Reconstruction Radical
Radical Reconstruction was seen as radical. This was because of how big of an extent people
apart of Radical Reconstruction were trying to transform the South. Congress passed the
Reconstruction Acts of 1867 68, the Second Reconstruction Act, and these acts were seen as
controlling since the North almost had utter control of policy making within Congress. However,
Radical Reconstruction was also seen as not radical. This was due to people apart of Radical
Reconstruction as seen to be trying to institute order in the South. People started to view Radical
Reconstruction this way after the Memphis and New Orleans Riots of 1866. Radical
Reconstruction was radical due to the North taking advantage of their power and making an attempt
in completely changing the South. One act congress established in order to change the South was
the Reconstruction Acts of 1867 68. This act enforced military government and rule within the
South excluding Tennessee. This demanded universal manhood suffrage. There were 10 abiding
states and these states were separated into 5 military districts. About 20,000 military troops forced

After the Memphis and New Orleans Riots of 1866 people s perspectives about radical
reconstruction changed. The Memphis riots occured because of political, social, and racial strains
following the Civil War. After a falling out with black soldiers and white policemen, crowds of
white civilians and policeman raided black neighborhoods and attacked and killed black men,
women, and children. This Memphis Riot also brought attention to the New Orleans Riot and
brought awareness that Radical Republicans were needed to bring upon peace and protect
freedmen in the South as well as protect their rights. This opened people s eyes that Radical
Reconstruction was to keep the South in check and prevent chaotic riots and violence due to white
southerners disagreement of the new freedmen s and blacks

Introduction Our case study opens painting a picture of a law enforcement officer that has
decided to retire after many years of service as a deputy in a small town in North Carolina and a
detective in Raleigh. Martin, our law enforcement officer appears to be less than adequate in his
occupation, however, he has been able to save his earnings and invested his money wisely in prime

Nonetheless, joint tenancy is particularly beneficial when property is transferred from one party
to another mainly in families to escape probate and expensive legal fees (Conway, 2008). Albeit,
Peter should have consulted with his co owners to enter a unilateral severance of the joint
tenancy with rights of survivorship agreement and subsequently formed a tenancy in common
giving him the rights to will his portion to Andrew. Therefore, I would advise Martin that the
survivorship agreement is still intact, making him the last surviving tenant, however, Andrew s
portion that was bequeathed to him by his father would be void in my opinion and therefore, the
foreclosure should be argued based on Peter was not a legal owner (Conway,2008). Additionally,
Martin mentions that he has not been to the property in 20 years, and when he decided to drive
up to the mountain to enjoy some fly fishing a bullet whizzed past his heads, when he
approached the property. Otis quickly told him to get off his property that he has lived on for 20
years, even though Martin informed him that the property belonged to him and he has the deed.
Once again, I share with Martin, that Otis believes that he is the rightful owner of the property
through adverse possession because he has lived on the land for 20 years openly and notorious
(Kubasek et al.,2016). Furthermore, I explained to Martin that under North Carolina case law that

Similarly to the discussion of the credibility of Democratic endorsements, the credibility of

an endorsement from a left leaning source provides more information to voters than does an

is unobserved by the econometrician, and we thus estimate the model in two stages. In the first
stage, we estimate a Probit model in which newspaper endorsement decisions are related to
newspaper characteristics (Zn). With the estimated parameters (ОіМ‚ ) from this first stage, we can
then compute the Mills ratios О»d(ОіМ‚ Zn) and О»r(ОіМ‚ Zn), which can be interpreted as
generalized residuals from a Probit model (Gourier oux et al., 1987). Finally, we then use these
generalized residuals as generated regressors in the second stage linear regression.
Given the presence of these generated regressors in the second stage, we compute the stan

underlying set of voters. The standard errors are based upon 200 replications. Note that this
bootstrapping procedure assumes independence across voters and thus does not account for any
potential clustering within newspapers. To address this issue, we also provide results below for a

6. Analysis Of Speak By Laurie Anderson
The book Speak by Laurie Anderson is a book about how Melinda Sordino overcomes the troubles
in her life, and how she learned to speak up for herself. The author uses a lot of archetypes and
allusions throughout the book to add a fuller description to the events Melinda had gone through,
which will help the readers to better understand what Anderson is trying to tell.
When Melinda started her first day of high school, she suffered from peer pressure with her best
friend who had just left her, and everyone had hated her because she ruined a party during summer
break by calling the police. Melinda knew that no one knew the truth, but she was afraid to speak
out about it. Laurie Anderson used the allusion of Rudolph, the red nosed reindeer ... Show more

Moreover, this drawing of the tree is representative of the mind growth of Melinda. For instance,
the drawing was poorly drawn at the beginning of the book, Melinda s pressure and her life were
weighing her down. As the drawing got better throughout the school year, Melinda s strength
and mindset also began to get better as well. If the tree meant to shelter , then Melinda sure
developed a very nice shelter for herself in the end. Laurie Anderson also used allusions while
describing Melinda s trauma. IT sees me. IT smiles and winks. Good thing my lips are stitched
together or I d throw up. (Anderson 96). The book Maya Angelou is written by a girl who was
once raped. The experience is similar between Melinda and Angelou. The audience may not fully
understand what Melinda was thinking during that time, but the book, Maya Angelou, fully
describes the life of a raped girl which gave us a fuller understanding of the situation that Melinda
was dealing with. She also used the archetype of darkness, when Melinda was raped, it was night
time. Darkness represents Chaos, emblem of bad judgment and destruction, for instance, Melinda
was raped in the darkness. This word should give the readers a clear foreshadowing of what will
happen next. The author also used the archetype of coldness throughout the story. For instance, at

7. Research Paper On Time Of The Chinese Culture
Time of the Chinese Culture
The Chinese culture is very past oriented with some aspects of present oriented as well. The
Chinese culture values their past, it is reflected in all aspects of life, such as much of the city s
ancient buildings and respect for old men (Shi 2011). The dying patient of Chinese descent will
spend a lot of time reminiscing on past mistakes, honor, and dead loved ones. This is also a time
where they will feel a sense of being reunited with their past ancestors as well accepting their fate
The Chinese culture also regards the present moment, especially being on time, as important. Being
on time is important informal occasion, but if you can, the earlier the better, it is viewed as a kind
of respect (Shi 2011). Being late and inadequate time management is a form of disrespect amongst
the Chinese culture.
Social organization of the Chinese Culture
Chinese patients will typically have family members at the bedside, day and night, taking care of
them. The custom in both China and Japan is for the family to take care of the patient s personal
needs and the medical staff is there to practice medicine (Galanti, 2008). When a member of a
Chinese family becomes ill, the family will rally around the patient to ensure they re being cared
for and loved. The family system in the Chinese culture is seen as one big moving part, where no
individual is greater or more important than the other.

Children are often is born innocent. It is the way they are natured that determines whether they
will remain law abiding citizens or not. Barton and Butts (2008) asserts that Children who are
nurtured under tender care and attention tend to grow into law abiding citizens. According to
Scott and Steinberg (2008) several factors including mental, moral, spiritual and physical factors
can impact on a child development. The ability of children to realize their full potential is
determined by these factors. Conversely, wrong company, negligence, lack of basic needs, harmful
surroundings and other abuses may negatively affect a child and turn him or her into a delinquent.
The term juvenile who originates from the word juvenis means young. A child or a Juvenile is
considered a minor under the law. This is a person who is below eighteen years of age. On the
other hand, juvenile delinquencyor juvenile crimerefers to the involvement of a minor or a person
under age 18 in an illegal act. The juvenile justice is a legal system whose task is to protect
children. It deals with children s protection and those in conflict with the Indian law (Scott

My Genocide class senior year introduced me to the idea that everything a person does is
selfish. The idea of being construed as selfish creates a defensive feeling in many people, as the
class demonstrated with the introduction of the idea. After this class introduced me to the idea,
it became a strong belief of mine, but is it a fact that nothing we do as a species is completely
selfless? Or did it just appeal to me as a fact as a result of my friend presenting the idea? Or was
it just an obvious explanation for some people s actions? Or was I, as Mooney would say,

Claus, as seen in the 1994 movie, The Santa Clause, is portrayed as a rosy cheeked, chubby

She was very pretty when she was a young girl. She was educated like every Chinese woman
used to be: To be obedient, to honor one s parents, one s husband and to try to please him and his
family. Ying Ying was not taught to use her own digression and make her own waythrough life.
The result of this education was a disaster due to the differences in values between the two
cultures. Ying Ying realized that her marriage was a mistake when her husband left her for
another woman. Her love for him turned to hate and she killed her unborn baby. She felt great
remorse for this and considered herself a murderer. She later remarried a gentleman by the name of
St. Clair. With St. Clair she had a daughter. After her second son, which was her third child, died at
birth, Ying Ying had a mental breakdown. She saw his death as a punishment for the murdering her
first son.
Ying Ying became passive and lifeless after her second son died. She kept the fact that she felt
responsible for her second sons death a secret from her husband and daughter, Lena. As shown in
this example, Ying Ying had Chinese cultural values in an American society. This produces the
conflict between cultures. Ying Ying becomes so passive that she lets her husband make all of her
decisions for her.

17. Victorian Era Research Paper
The Victorian Era started with Queen Victoria s rule from June 20, 1837 to her death on January
22, 1901.
The Victorian Era primarily describes a period of English history, where Britain saw a rise in
industrialization, growth in the economy, growth of the middle class, growth of a large population,
and a large scale expansion of imperial power.
The society was extremely conservative and patriarchal. There was an idea called the Cult of
Domesticity that believed that a woman s identity should consist of piety, purity, domesticity, and
submissiveness.
However, this era saw the birth and rise of political and social movements such as socialism,
liberalism, and organized feminism.
Because of the rapid changes that occurred during the Victorian Era, it brought out rapid changes in
literature.
The most popular topics for Victorian Era novels were industrialization, class, science vs. religion,
progress, utilitarianism, the role of women in society, and how to live an ideal life.
This era also saw an increase of works in a large variety of subjects such as scientific works,
philosophy, nature writing, and Gothic tales.
Early Victorian works, emphasized the notion of what is English or what constitutes an Englishman
. This is mostly due to how conservative the society was. Later Victorian works rebelled against
these ideas.
The novel became the most popular form of literature during the Victorian Era. Many of them were
originally serialized.
Many novels during this era helped develop our current popular genres such as fantasy and science
fiction.
There was a rise in female novelists, but they went under male pseudonyms because of how male
patriarchal the society was and female writers were often shunned.
The most popular writer of this time was Charles Dickens.
The Bronte sisters wrote many significant works, but they were not appreciated by Victorian critics.
Others famous writers include:
William Thackeray, who wrote Vanity Fair
Thomas Hardy, who wrote Far from the Madding Crowd
Oscar Wilde, who wrote The Picture of Dorian Gray
George Eliot (Mary Anne Evans), who wrote Middlemarch

creating infinite worlds. Jason could never continue with his research because his girlfriend, and

The period covered in this book is a very short one, covering the building of the Atlantic wall in
little detail, and in great detail, the few days before D Day and the initial attacks on D Day itself.
On the German side Hitler has ordered the building of a massive Atlantic Wall to stop any Allied
attackers from landing on the western seaboard, from the Kirkenes to the Pyrenees. After defeat in
Africa, Field Marshall Erwin Rommel is sent to inspect and oversee the wall s completion. After
seeing the horrible state of the wall Rommel worked to complete the wall as quickly as possible.
He had the German and French coast of the English Channel and their beaches filled with mines.
Rommel then placed heavy fortifications behind the beaches to stop any attackers who made it
past the beach defenses. In Great Britain, the Supreme Allied Commander, General Eisenhower
was planning the date to launch the massive attack on Normandy, but his time frame was limited
due to a bad storm in the area. On June 5, 1944 the ships were launched only to be recalled back

Do Titles Really Matter When Tina Fey Called Her Book Bossypants ?
In her book, Bossypants, Tina Fey uses her unflattering memories and past experiences to teach her
readers about the lessons that she has learned throughout her life. Through her unflattering
memories, Tina Fey paints herself in a light that perceives her as the person in the wrong in most
situations. She wants her readers to know what she has done throughout her life and how she
became a better person through her experiences. Her past experiences help her audience understand
that she has not always been perfect and that she has done bad things and has insecurities that have
helped her become who she is today.

She tells her audience about a memory where she became an assistant director. She states that
her first job as assistant director was to make sure he didn t cast the talented blond dancer who
had so easily stolen my boyfriend the summer before (Fey 37). Fey did not realize what she had
done wrong at the time. It took her years to realize that girl on girl sabotage was not the way she
needed to act and instead she should be building other girls up. Fey also talks about how she
wished bad things to happen to other girls when she felt like they were getting what she thought
she deserved. When she was hanging out with a boy that she was hoping for funny business to

feminine and perfect that half a piece of Trident gum was the most she could handle (Fey 59).
She tells her audience that what she thought after their conversation was she wished the girl he
was in love with had a cavernous vagina (Fey 60). Fey uses this example to show that even
though she had made a pact with herself to never instigate girl on girl sabotage ever again, she
still wished bad things on the girls who she did not believe deserved what they were getting, She
still saw herself as competing with this girl for a boy. Years later, Fey

Donald Trump has run a very long and very hard fought campaign against his opponent Hillary
Clinton. His closing acceptance speech has shown us how much his character has drastically
changed in contrast to how he ran his entire campaign. Throughout his campaign to become
president Donald Trump degraded women, bashed the disabled, and had plans to build walls to
keep families from being together. He seems to be everything we didn t need for our next president
and now shockingly enough in his winning acceptance speech he has become a whole new man,
thanking and congratulating the Clinton campaign and posing as a humble acceptor of his new
presidential title. As Donald Trumpthanked and congratulated the Clinton campaign after winning
the 2016 presidential election we saw a remarkable change in his character. This sudden shift
raises the concern of many Americans wondering why he has suddenly changed his plans for his
presidential reign versus how he ran his campaign. Donald Trump s campaign was thought of as a

25. Essay on Controversial Television Advertising
Introduction
Parents today have an obligation to keep their children safe from the harsh reality of life around
them. Just by turning on the television a child is subjected to violence and provocative images, or
is shown the coolness of lighting up a cigarette and drinking alcohol. Television advertisements
pose a threat to preserving a child s innocence; they go above and beyond being an advertisement
and become a weapon that is slowly tearing away at the decency in American homes.
Parental Involvement
Televisions are now equipped with V Chips and Parental Controls, but even on the channels that are
meant for children you can find programming with inappropriate subliminal messages that are

29. Criticism Of The Electoral College
In the United States, an electoral college system is used to elect a president. It is vital in any
democratic country to allow a vote from the people to elect their representative leaders, especially
in an influential country like the United States. However, due to the process of the electoral
college system placed by the Framers, a candidate may win the popular vote but lose the electoral
vote. Such an event may upset certain members of our country as recently seen in our latest
presidential electionof 2016 where candidate Hillary Clinton won the popular vote but lost the
electoral vote to candidate Donald Trump.
Using the 2016 presidential election as an example, we can see how the Electoral College can
allow a candidate to take the winner take all system towards the presidency. Another example of
how a candidate can win the election by winning the electoral vote and not the popular vote can
be seen in the presidential election of 2000, where candidate George W. Bush lost the popular
vote to candidate Al Gore but won the electoral vote, drawing criticism to the Electoral College,
with some saying that it has outlived the purpose for which it was created (Duquette, 2017). In this
winner take all system, more attention is focused towards electoral districts rather than a national
platform. For example, if a third party were to have a chance in winning an election in a district,
the voter must take this fact into consideration (Bowler, 1994). This makes it possible

31. Collective Bargaining Vs Collective Bargaining
When employees are unhappy with their employer, they join together to form a union. The union s
goal is to ensure that workers are properly compensated for the work that they provide to their
employers and it represents safety concerns and other issues of employees to employer (Brachmann.
n.d). This is done through collective bargaining. Collective bargaining is when a union and
management officials meet in order to resolve conflicts (e.g. pay, benefits and working terms and
conditions) by way of exchanging commitments (Walsh. 2013. P243). Bargaining successfully
strengthens the relationship between labor and management, reinforcing trust and honesty amongst
the parties even though they may not agree one hundred percent on every issue. For example, a
complaint was filed in 2010 against the Westin Providence Hotel, asserting discrimination against
union supporting employees, failure to bargain with the Union, and establishing new terms and
conditions of employment without bargaining with the Union (nlrb.org. 2011.). However, before
going to trail, the firm and union collectively bargained and resolved all issues by way of contract
agreement. The Labor Management Relations Act (LMRA) requires union and management groups
to bargain in good faith each party exhibiting an honest attempt to reach an agreement or settlement,
and being reasonable in their positions and tactics, on issues the law require and the parties
voluntarily decides to negotiate (Szczepanski. 2003). It is

35. Military Rules of Engagement and the Laws of War
Military Rules of Engagement (ROE) and the Laws of War A civilized society cannot function
without rules, laws, and codes of proper conduct. This statement may seem out of place in the
context of warfighting; however, this is one place where it is most necessary. The fighters, who
often act at the behest of their home nation, must have a code of conduct which allows them to
make the correct decision in a given situation in a combat zone. Rules of Engagement fill this
gap for the national militaries of the civilized world and serve as a soldier s code of conduct in
the field. Similar to Rules of Engagement (ROE) are the Laws of War . The Laws of War were
established as an international agreement. This agreement attempted to curtail the destruction
caused by global conflicts such as the two world wars fought during the twentieth century. The
laws of war fall under the Geneva conventions as well. Each of set of rules can be used as a
foundation to create rules of engagement for a particular mission. It is also important to align rules
of engagement with the uniform code of militaryjustice. This code, referred to as the UCMJ, is
used as legal framework for the United States Military.

Congenital Central Hypoventilation Central Alveolar Hypoventilation Syndromes Introduction
Sleep can be simply defined as a reversible behavioral state of perceptual disengagement from and
unresponsiveness to the environment (Kryger, Roth Dement). As far as the sleeping disorders are
concerned, they involve the difficulties that are associated to sleeping. When an individual has
difficulty in falling or staying asleep, falling asleep at wrong times, falling asleep unnecessarily, or
shows other abnormal sleep behaviors, he/she is said to have a sleep disorder. Congenital Central
Hypoventilation Syndrome The Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome or CCHS is
categorized as a parasomnia. Such sleep disorders are the symptoms of central nervous system
activation that are generally transmitted through skeletal muscle or autonomic nervous system

widely defined as the malfunctioning of automatic control of breathing. The affected individuals

Community extends to our prisonpopulation whether male or female. However, this essay will
focus on the male population.
In order to contend with homosexuality in the prison population; prison officials and politicians
have invoked laws to protect those offenders that identified themselves as either being transsexual

and a few more things. Okay my machine design is a basic kinda roll cage for the eggs that we use.
And on a day to day basis you would probably never see this design but it can help because if you
drop and egg in this machine it would save it. And gravity affects my machine by pulling it down

Okay drag is basically like when you throw a rock or anything and it s attached to a balloon and
or something that kinda floats and it goes down slower . Air resistance plays a massive point in
dropping items because sometimes if the item that your dropping is big it might fall faster
because the air doesn t have enough power for the item. One way that I think will help the impact
is to put rubber bands on all the sides and lift the roll cage for the egg a bit higher than the bottom
of the machine so it won t hit the

Robertson Davies: Fifth Business
Dorothy L. Sayers states Wherever you find a great man, you will find a great mother or a great
wife standing behind him. Man is a societal construct that is structured and molded by maternal
influences and female insight. Typically one is a product of its environment, however Robertson
Davies in Fifth Business, deliberately uses female roles to display the impact that women have on
the psychological growth of a man. Davies chronologically traces the psyche of Dunstan Ramsay as
he matures with the guidance of significant female characters in his life. In Fifth Business,
Robertson Davies uses the characterization of Mrs. Ramsay, Diana ... Show more content on

Secondly, Diana Marfleet plays a significant role in the novel as Dunny s first meaningful and
realistic love, and a second maternal female in Dunny s life. Diana nursed Dunny back to life,
after he was nearly left to die in the war. Diana is characterized as Dunny s second mother, as she
brings him back to life, re teaches him the essentials of life, and renames him, Dunstan. Diana
catalyzes Dunstan s maturing process, as she initiated him into the world of manhood, sexually, and
mentally as he began to form his own decisions. Moreover, to complete his transformation she
decides that he should change his name to Dunstan, which mentally gives him the psychological
ambition to complete and realize his transformation into a new person in stating I liked the idea of
a new name; it suggested new freedom and new personality (Davies 90). Distinctly, being with
Diana has made him think about himself for once in life and made him realize that he loves her
unconditionally, however, Dunstan states she was too much of a mother to me. (Davies 81). This
motherly attraction to Diana drives Dunstan away from her, as he knows that their relationship
could not have lasted.
Finally, throughout the novel, Mary Dempster has an impactful role in the growth of Dunstan
Ramsay. Mary teaches Dunny to disregard the moral rules of society, and to behave in a manner
that is unselfish and for the betterment of others. Dunny admires Mary

45. How Hauptmann Is Guilty In Jen Bryant s The Trial
A jury has the power to decide the entire future of one person s life. Jen Bryant s The Trial,
depicts the story of a man Bruno Hauptmann s trial for the kidnapping and death of a young baby,
Charles Lindbergh. This kidnapping takes place in a small town in New Jersey where nothing
exciting goes on. This trial brings the town to chaos to plead whether or not Hauptmann is guilty.
Bruno Richard Hauptmann is guilty of kidnapping and murdering Charles Lindbergh Jr. The ladder
and the handwriting on the ransom notes are both pieces of evidence that Hauptmann is guilty.
The ladder catches the investigators eyes when searching for clues. The ladder is a key component
to the evidence of Hauptmann s guilt. During the kidnapping, a ladder was used to steal the baby
out of his bedroom window. The ladder was left behind. Bruno Richard Hauptmann happened to be
a carpenter and could have easily constructed the ladder. Arthur Koehler told the jury, The ladder
was made of wood from a lumberyard in The Bronx, New York, not far from Bruno Richard
Hauptmann s house (Bryant 63). Hauptmann could have used the wood from this lumberyard to
create the ladder. Considering his carpentry, Hauptmann also obviously has a supply... Show more

Ransom notes were sent to the Lindbergh family saying they have the baby, but they want money.
The ransom notes have almost the exact same handwriting as Hauptmann. Two experts examined
the writing and testified it is Hauptmann s. The experts said, ...almost all the loops and lines match
those of the accused and furthermore, the same words were misspelled again and again and the
grammatical errors were all the same (82). It is made very clear that the handwriting on the ransom
notes is Hauptmann s. Hauptmann is an immigrant from Germany which explains all the
grammatical errors on the notes. Obviously, Hauptmann is guilty of kidnapping an innocent baby,

46. Costco Is The Third Largest Overall Retailer
Costco is the second largest overall retailer in the United States, and the largest in the warehouse
club retailer category with revenues of over $105 billion in 2013. Costco operates with the
business model of charging an annual membership fee to its customers in exchange for heavy
discounts on selected brands of a wide variety of merchandise. Towards the end of August 2014,
the company operated roughly 663 warehouses globally; including 468 in the U.S., 88 in
Canada, 33 in Mexico, 26 in U.K., 20 in Japan, 10 in Taiwan, 11 in Korea, and 6 in Australia.
They have approximately 76.4 million members, of those were included 31.6 million gold star
members. Besides selling merchandise, Costco provides in store services like onsite fueling
stations, pharmacy services, hot dog stands and optical centers to attract customers to shop there
more frequently. Costco competes with Sam s Club and BJ s in the warehouse clubbusiness, and
those competitors adopted a very similar business model. Costco primarily competes with Sam s
club nationwide since BJ s presence is limited to far fewer areas of the USA. Warehouse clubs
attempt to attract individuals and business customers with additional rewards and services, rather
than just physical products. For example, Costco offers a 2% annual reward for its executive
members along with additional benefits and services like homeowners insurance, check printing,
business telephoning service etc. Historically, Costco

47. Analysis Of Violence In Stagecoach
As watching these movies from different time periods, I noticed one similar theme that stuck the
majority of the movies and that was violence shown in different types of communities. These
communities consist of The Pure Violence of the West depicted in Stagecoach, then the more subtle
violence within a family depicted in American Beauty and finally the hateful depiction of violence
shown in Do the Right Thing. Each of these movies are taken place in what we know as the
Home, the West and the City. The reason my choice of topic was to be Violence within
communities was simple because every movie had a certain level of violence and in these cases
they show more and show a different varieties of violence. So to get this started I would like to
discuss each of these movies and there depiction of violence within the communities before
getting started. Starting off with the Pure and deathly violence occurring in the Wild West in the
classic Stagecoach. Stagecoach is a movie about the wild west where a group of misfits are
leaving town to head to a new area, but on the way to this new promise land they are met with
many bloody battles. Next, I would like to discuss the subtle violence in the movie American
Beauty which takes place within a small families home. The violence in this movie is completely
different than Stagecoach for the fact that it is violence within the structure of a family and how
that effects each members lives differently. The final movie which takes place in

49. Review Of Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep
Bryan Rosendo MHC 354 Composition and Style Prof. Russo Bullaro Thursday, December 1, 2016
Email: gjabr12@gmail.com What It Means to Be Human? Phillip K. Dick, American science
fiction writer, delivers a story that emphasizes that there really is no major difference between the
human and non human, or in this case, the android. The androids presented in the book serve as a
means of redefining what it means to be human. Humans have now entered this new age of
technology and with it, have attained the ability to push pre existing mental and physical
boundaries. Abstract: The boundaries of what it means to be human is constantly shifting. As we
enter the Posthuman age, the altered posthuman is becoming the new human. In Phillip K Dick s
novel, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? androids serve and live alongside humans in the post
war Earth. The indistinguishability of the new Nexus 6 model android and a human creates the
context for the question what does it mean to be human. This paper will analyze the connection
between the posthuman and the human. With rapid advancements in technology, the human
rapidly advances alongside it. This paper will also examine the novel s main portrayal of the two
opposing beings. To conclude, the paper will touch upon the differences that seem to separate the
two and whether or not there truly are any. The concept of Posthumansim blurs the line of the
human and non human. This idea is prevalent in the 1968 science fiction novel Do

50. Modernism Vs Imperialism
Modernization has always been the objective for growing colonies and empires. The current
generation of today s time still aims to modernize and grow as a nation. However, the past holds
many mistakes and misconceptions about how the world can continue to modernize given specific
circumstances and factors. Today, historians, citizens and many others look over these past events
and learn from the complications made from previous leaders. One great example of a horrific
imperial occurrence is portrayed by King Leopold II of Belgium. Within his time of ruling he
displayed manipulation, ignorance and gruesome consequences of corruption. He took the
opportunity to create prosperity out of the Congo Free Stateand turned it cold with unethical
dishonesty, brutality and corrupt power. With all of his planning going to waste, King Leopold
showed all of history how combining imperialism with modernity can turn to the absolute worst
for humanity. To begin, imperialism had always been a long term system of governing. Empires
were built, colonies were created, and growth occurred to make today s world. It was always
seen that the king of an empire knew what was best for his nation. He was given the power to
make impacting decisions and lead his empire to success. However, many kings were found
corrupted and abused their powers for their own benefit. King Leopold used his skills to try to
persuade his people and neighboring nations into believing that the CongoState was the best

Introduction
The single most critical problem that the managers are facing today is managing the people. This is
the most challenging issues that every kind of organizations is dealing with now aday.
Organizational behaviour is the study of individual, group and organization as a whole that
examines the effect of organizational structure and culture on organizational performance.
Therefore, it mostly tries to define the performance and efficiency factors of
anorganization.Organizational structure and organizational culture are highly correlated
performance factors. It basically defines the appropriate structure of an organization in order to get
more thanaverage performance. Organizational culture is a primary factor for employee turnover
and job satisfaction (Bolden, 2004). If an organization possesses a strong culture of self respect and
employee affiliation, it is no wonder that the employee retention rate would be very high(Tracy,
2013).In this report, the relationship between organizational culture and organizational structure
will be pointed out. While doing so we

52. Examples Of Structuralism In The Movie Coach Carter
Structuralism is a philosophy that views society as composed of structures such as class and race
that shape our lives, making it challenging for all individuals to have access to equal opportunities.
Thus, it is focuses on exposing these structures and investigating power who has it and who doesn
t and what we can do to change this, often by way of advocacy, actions, and campaigns, and
striving for social change (J. Poole, personal communication, September 13, 2017).
Coach Carter is a sports drama based on a real life experience of a former Richmond High alumni
and basketball coach, Ken Carter, who became known in 1999 for benching his undefeated
basketball team, due to poor academic standing (Watch Coach Carter, n.d.). It is through this film I
will illustrate my understanding of structuralism, with a special focus on the lockout that occurs, as
it demonstrates power imbalances addressed by advocacy and social action (Watch Coach Carter,
n.d.).
In the film, Coach Carter initiates a lockout after learning some members of his team failed to
uphold the academic requirements mutually agreed to between the Coach and the players in a
signed contract (Watch Coach Carter, n.d.). In place of practice, the players were confronted by a
sign on the gym door asking that they meet the Coach in the library (Watch Coach Carter, n.d.).
Going forward, practices were cancelled and the team was forced to forfeit games they
demonstrated an improvement in their grades (Watch Coach

Inside Terrorism: Psychological and Behavioral Factors Terrorism is a difficult issue to understand
and grasp for many people. What is even more difficult to understand is what drives an individual
to become radicalized to the point of joining a terrorist organization and committing terrorist acts.
While there is not specific criteria or a cookie cutter approach to understanding what motivates and
radicalizes an individual to participate in such atrocities, there are however, several psychological
and behavioral factors that have been common among these individuals. The following paper will

Stairs narrow toward the top. It becomes harder to turn back with each step (Kershaw, 2010). As
said before, there is not a cookie cutter definition of what creates a terrorist. One thing is very
evident, the radicalization process of an individual is complex, diverse, and is often comprised
of idiosyncratic characteristics. The first factor is that of victimization. Victimization is when
an individual feels as though he or she has fallen victim to something, such as a physical,
psychological, or financial harm. Individuals who are victimized feel as though they are missing
something and are eager to be a part of something bigger than themselves, and terrorist
organizations can fill those needs. An example of how victimization can attribute to the
radicalization of an individual is if an individual lost family or friends in a drone strike
conducted by the United States of America. The family and friends killed in the drone strike
leaves the individual feeling scared, angry, and sad with a hunger for revenge. A terrorist
organization such as Al Qaeda could be very intriguing to that individual because of their mission
to wage war against and destroy the United States of America. Victimization is a dangerous factor
because it can easily feed into other factors and victims can easily be manipulated into believing
certain things, one of those things being religion. Religion is a very important factor that plays a
key role in the radicalization of an

54. The Protestant Reformation Produces Puritanism Summary
1.The Protestant Reformation Produces Puritanism
1.In 1517, German friar Martin Luther declared that the only source of God s words was the Bible.
By doing that, he denounced the authority of the pope and priests. This started the Protestant
Reformation
2.In 1536, John Calvin from Geneva, wrote a doctrine in Latin which was entitled Institutes of the
Christian Religion . There ideas formed a new, predestination supporting religion called Calvinism.
3.In the 1530s King Henry VIII broke off al ties with the Roman Catholic Church and formed the
Protestant Church of England, which was the first step in turning England protestant.
4.People who wanted England to become Protestant faster were called Puritans.
5.Separatists were a small group of Puritans who broke away from the Protestant Church of
England.
6.King James threatened to banish the Separatists from 1603 1625 due to his fear of being denied
as not only a political leader, but a spiritual leader.
2.The Pilgrims End Their Pilgrimage at Plymouth

On many accounts people look back on Andrew Jackson and applaud his terms as president. But
those people do not look closer into his term on the huge mistake he made. To appeal his personal
feelings and not for the greater good of the country, president Jackson vetoed the bill that would
renew the Bank of the United States(BUS) in 1832. Because of this veto, state banks were
unleashed from their restrictions and given the freedom they craved so badly. He believed the
financial sector of the American economy was spoiled, corrupt and bad for the overall health of the
nation, and so he destroyed, at great length, great drama and great cost, the Bank of the United
States. 1 Due to many experiences brought up with him, Andrew Jacksonfailed... Show more

He thought they all violated the Constitution. But he was led by the men around him to focus his
aversion on the federal Bank, which being the biggest must be the worst and whose regulatory
pressure on the state banks must obviously be the oppression to be expected from a great, soulless
corporation.4
This would cause his decision to veto the bill passed by congress and cause uproar. The president
of the BUS at the time, Nicolas Biddle, would put up a long fight to try to save the bank he loved
so much.5 One of the challenges faced with the decision to veto the bill was how the American
people felt on the issue. Jackson did not take into account how this would affect the country and
the people living within it. This was personal misfortune, undeserved and severe. The more
important victim was the American people. For with destruction of the United States Bank there
was removed from an overexcitable economy the influence most effective in moderating its booms
and depressions. 6 In spite of the American people and their opinion, Jackson acted on his own and
in doing so made decisions that were not for him to do without having something to back up his
words. In his famous veto message, he declared the bank unconstitutional whereas the Supreme
Court would have never declared the Bank constitution nor Congress if that were the case.7 Even
some of the great people from the past supported the very thing Jackson

In 1948, George Orwell published 1984; Orwell twists the dystopian genre to depict an
exemplification of life in the future based on conformity, dependence upon technology and the
absolute control of the state over the people, their rights, and their history. Orwell follows the
dystopian genre to the basics: a futuristic setting, uniform obedience, and clearly separated
classes. However, Orwell also warps these concepts in ground breaking manners to fit his own
idealization: the disturbing ways futuristic technology is used to infringe upon the rights of the
people, the fear tactics used in order to keep the people of Oceania in complete order, and how the
higher Inner Party Members claim the luxuries that Outer Party Members do not even dare
thinking of lest they be taken and vaporized by the thought police. The dystopian genre used in
1984 has been recognized to have harrowing storylines based on mental and psychological strife.
No matter the variations of the plot, most to all dystopian stories contain: adherence to conformity,

57. Cosmological Argument From Motion
To begin, we start with an a posteriori argument, or an argument from experience. Arguments from
experiences of the world to the existence of God are called cosmological arguments. This
particular argument is the argument from motion. Argument from Motion: P1. Some things are
moved. P2. If something is moved to being F, then it is potentially but not actually F. P3. If
something moves a thing to be F, then it (the mover) is in a state of actuality relevant to F. C1. If
something were to move itself to be F (e.g., be both moved and its own mover), then it would be
both potentially but not actually F and also in a state of actuality relevant to F (conjunction, modus
ponens, P1 3). P4. But it is not possible for something to be both potentially... Show more content

I will leave it to con to find any objections to this argument; however, I will respond to one
preemptive problem that may seemingly arise. The issue comes from a seeming contradiction
between Newton s law of inertial motion, or Newton s first law of motion, and the Aristotelian
definition of motion on which the argument above rests. The problem may be resolved in two
ways. Firstly, to assert that there is a contradiction is to equivocate between two different
definitions of the word motion. Newton s account of motion is only concerned with local motion
(motion or change in terms of place or location), while the Aristotelian is concerned with change
of every sort (quality, quantity, substance, accident, etc.). Secondly, there is no formal
contradiction. As the Thomist philosopher Edward Feser says: Suppose that motion is being
used in the two principles in the same sense. Even given this assumption, there is no formal
contradiction between them. Newton s law tells us that a body will in fact continue its uniform
rectilinear motion if it is moving at all, as long as external forces do not prevent this. It does not
tell us why it will do so. In particular, it does not tell us one way or the other whether there is a
mover of some sort which ensures that an object obeys the First Law, and which is in that sense
responsible for its
