How Networks Work And Different Types Of Them
Here I will explain a few keywords that will be frequently used in the PowerPoint Today we will learn
about networks. We will learn about how networks work and about the different types of them. You
will also learn about all of the Physical devices in a network which make it work. The First Type of
network we will talk about it LAN this stands Local Area Network. LAN networks can range in size
from two computers, but the size is limitless from there the only restriction is hardware. One example
of a LAN is your home network you have different device that connect to each other to get a service,
which is the internet. LANs use the IEEE standards to make sure there is inter compatibility between
different hardware from different manufacturers on LANs. LANs also use a range of protocols to help
provide different functions, for example LANs use the TCP/IP protocol suite to communicate with
WANs such as the internet. LANs may also use the token ring protocol to control network access also
they may use Fibre Distributed Data Interface to provide a backbone for LANs spread over large
distances. Normally LANs in a corporate network can be a mixture of wireless and wired connections
they use different technologies to avoid network collisions. The best way to think of network
collisions is like a tunnel with cars going through and if two cars want to go down the same lane at the
same time they will collide this would prevent the car from getting to its destination, this is the same

Research Paper On Breast Augmentation
Since 2006, breast augmentation has ranked as the number one cosmetic surgical procedure.
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, with nearly 300,000 augmentations performed

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR BREAST AUGMENTATION IN ORANGE COUNTY
Because breast augmentation is an extremely personal procedure, a woman should choose to have an
augmentation for herself, not for someone else.
A good candidate for breast augmentation in Orange County:
She is unhappy with the volume, size and/or shape of her breasts. Has a realistic expectation as to
what an augmentation can do for her. She is physically healthy. Has breasts that appear asymmetrical.

Suicide Risk Assessment Is Essential For A Supportive,...
Cassidy Liles, 2016). Finally, the therapist should create a supportive, caring and committed
environment for George.
What to Consider in an Intervention Plan
Arrays of tools, treatment and practices have been developed for use during a clinical consultation to
help determine suicidal thoughts, concerns and behaviors (James, 2013). Within the tools developed
determinant conditions and preindication signs are identified (Montague, Cassidy Liles, 2016). The
succeeding section will distinguish and outline risk factors, suicide hints and suicidal assessment that
are designed to gauge suicidal thoughts, concerns and behaviors (Montague, Cassidy Liles, 2016). A
suicide assessment is essential for clients who have suicidal behavior (Ribeiro, Bodell, Hames, Hagan,
Joiner, 2013). A suicide risk assessment can be a vital step for prevention of suicidal behavior
(Ribeiro, Bodell, Hames, Hagan, Joiner, 2013). Suicide risk assessment is a crucial element in
working with saddened clients and is the initial step in treating suicidal clients (Huh et al., 2012;
Regehr, LeBlanc, Bogo, Paterson, Birze, 2015). The risk of attempting or finalizing a suicide increases
with the more signs or symptoms a client disclose (Kanel, 2015). Individuals usually give a sign or a
warning before they commit suicide, but they may not openly say what their plan is or how they are
feeling (Kanel, 2015).
Warning Signs James (2013) established four different groupings of suicide hints,

My Favorite Position In Baseball

Has anyone ever said you re a very athlete? Well a lot of people have came up to me and they ve said I
m very athlete. I started getting into baseball when I was really young maybe around the age 6 years
old now I am 18 years old. I started playing catcher and that s my favorite position to play. Catching
the baseball behind home plate, Tyler pitched the ball super hard. The best position in baseball that is
the most controlling is the catcher s spot behind home plate. Whenever I go up to bat I always dig a
small home with my foot to plant my foot in the dirt so I don t move. Before Tyler could throw the
ball, he had to get his glove. I played baseball freshman year at high school. I didn t play Sophomore,

An Analysis Of The Banjo By Louis Gottschalk
To recover from the storm, I select The Banjo by Louis Gottschalk as my next piece. In contrast to the
fierce thunderstorm in Moonlight s third movement, Banjo is full of cheerful and light hearted
melodies. As if a sunshower, the music refreshes our mind and energizes our spirit.
Staccato, one of the most remarkable characteristics in this piece, brings energy to the entire music. In
the subject line of the A section (this piece has a five part A B A B A form), the melody of the left hand
purely consists of staccatos whose short, bouncing feature opens up a dynamic theme., This dynamic
is further expressed as the piece enters B section, since the high pitched notes have more
distinguishable sounds and a more rapid speed. This movement then culminates at five major chords
whose high pitch and strong, sharp volume produce an extraordinarily penetrating sound. All these
movements delineates a playful scene of rain dancing at every corner of the world: on a roof, a stream,
an umbrella, a petal of flower, etc. By reflecting sunlight, every drop of rain looks like a shining
crystal that illuminates the surroundings and illuminates our heart.
Another interesting point of this piece is the use of an old music, Capetown Races. Capetown Races
resembles the tune of nursery rhymes and introduces an innocent, childlike sense. In The Banjo, the
main melody of the old song comes from the right hand region and are expressed through octave
chords. As the main melody repeats, the notes

general Discuss with references at least three of Hardy s short stories
Thomas Hardy in his short stories The Withered Arm , Tony Kytes, the
Arch Deceiver and the Winters and the Palmleys presents his readers with a series of unsettling
visions of the relations between men and women, women mainly coming worse off. For example

There are also examples of oppression in other Hardy short stories, such as Tony Kytes, the Arch
Deceiver where he is in a humourous dilemma of which of the three women in his wagon he should
marry, and in The Withered Arm , Farmer Lodge just discards Rhoda after she gets pregnant, making
her into a witch because she has a child without a husband. This Rhoda Brook is a typical victim of
Hardy s short stories, isolated and an outcast of society from an early age after being used and left by
Farmer Lodge. She doesn t even get any respect from her son, which was probably due to a bad
upbringing, due to her obsession with Farmer Lodge ever since he discarded her. When we join the
story of The Withered Arm she is already an old outcast that s well past her prime and when it says
...her dark eyes that had once been handsome , it suggests that when she was with Lodge she was a
handsome , attractive woman, but now she was all but a thin fading woman of thirty . This also shows
at what time women where thought to have been old. When Lodge gets a new wife, she becomes
extremely jealous of the woman and her face as comely as a live dolls . It s because of this loathing

With an IT technology upgrade, manual intervention would be eliminated, thus promoting operational
efficiency (Moore, 2009).
* Should the company upgrade the POS terminals to modern operating system?
Yes, the POS terminals were out dated and were being backed by DOS operating system which
Microsoft no longer supported. They are running a risk of the product becoming obsolete and being
unable to maintain support from vendors. Up to date operating system would provide more user
friendly mechanisms, more functionality, thus allowing effective communication between stores and
headquarters. New modern operating systems would allow simple standardisation and sharing of data
across the board. Modern operating systems also provide more security platforms (such as credit card
details), inventory management, and report generation for decision making. Also it allows real time
transactions to be recorded.
* Should the company build in store networks?
Yes, the company is missing out on communication and information sharing within the store network
system. The in store network allows connectivity and provides daily sales totals, also ordering in real
time processing. It allows POS terminals to talk to one another and allows viewing of up to date data
at any time.
* Should the company give employees the ability to look up inventory balances for items in their own
stores?
Absolutely, as it will save time during the ordering

Arguments In Favor Of Animal Testing

Animal Testing Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of
compassion to embrace all living creatures... (Einstein). Every year, an immense number of animals
are unwillingly subjected to testing in laboratories across the United States. If action is not taken,
millions of lab animals will continue to die and suffer not only in America, but universally. Animal
testing stems all the way back to the ancient Greeks, Romans, and Arabs, and has since then expanded
into a global issue (Scutti). Currently, more than 26 million animals are used for product development
and drug testing, as well as medical research ( Should ). Many, if not most, of these lab tests ... Show

Also, the practice has produced many treatments necessary in saving human lives. For example, the
discovery of the polio vaccine reduced global instances of the disease from 350 thousand cases in
1988 to 223 in 2012 ( Should ). Considering over 371 million people worldwide have diabetes
(Castillo), the invention of insulin has saved countless lives since its discovery. Animal testing has
also offered a better understanding of conditions such as tuberculosis, cystic fibrosis, multiple
sclerosis, many types of cancer like leukemia and breast cancer, and countless other diseases ( Should
). Not only does animal research yield lifesaving medical treatments and advancements, the animals
involved are protected by various laws and regulations. The most prominent of these laws is the
Animal Welfare Act, or AWA, which has been in effect since 1966. Not only does the AWA regulate
the types of animals tested on, it also requires minimum housing standards for the research animals.
For instance, all lab animals must be provided with a suitable enclosure size, fresh food and water, and
a comfortable habitat temperature ( Should ). Furthermore, all persons requesting to use animals for
experimentation must have their request approved by their facility s Institutional Animal Care and Use
Committee, or IACUC. All facilities are also required to employ veterinarians, animal care specialists,
and animal health technicians to best insure considerate treatment of the lab animals ( Should ). While
living in poor conditions is mainly bad for the animals, it also affects the results of the experiments
themselves. Neglected animals produce inaccurate test results, due to many of their characteristics
only being observable if they are contented, meaning humane treatment of lab animals is better for the
researchers as

The Epic Of Gilgamesh As A Hero In Mesopotamian Society
The epic of Gilgamesh is a story of an ambitious epic hero who influenced historical scene and huge

New York City, Tokyo And Paris
Introduction: With all major cities in the world, such as: New York City, Tokyo and Paris, comes a
exceptional transit system. Whether its is subways, buses, light rail transit (LRT) or a combination of
the above, they all perform a crucial role in transporting people from one destination to the next. Since
opening in 1954, Toronto s Transit Commission, also known as the TTC, has a system that just about
cover every part of Toronto, with 4 subway/rapid transit lines, 143 bus and 11 streetcar routes in 2015,
(TTC, 2015). Unfortunately, the TTC is still plagued with many problems, such as: unexplained delay
and overcrowding, which decline the riderships and revenues (Curry, 2016; Hume, 2016).
Furthermore the population of the greater toronto area (GTA) is expected to grow in the upcoming
years, Toronto s transit system would not be ready for the increase in capacity (CrosstownTO, 2014).
Therefore in order to increase the transit system s capacity and make it more appealing, more
LRT/Bus lines would need to be built in the GTA due to their constructability, benefits to society and
the environment, flexibility in suburbs and their low risks in meeting ridership goal.
Constructability
Planning and constructing a new transit system is simple and inexpensive task . Everyones loves the
idea of subways, those electric powered trains can travel at rapid speeds of 24 39 km/hr with their own
right of way and carry over 1500 passengers per train and serve as the backbone of any

Causes Of Child Solider In A Long Way Gone
Youth are a vital site for understanding nation and globalization. (Shepler, Youthscapes, p. 122) One of
the topic is child soldiers. Some people believe that child soldier is just a tragedy of wars. However,
understanding the war as a crisis of youth does not mean just understanding RUF rebels and their
reasons for revolt. We must strive to understand the situation of a whole generation defined by
political and economic disenfranchisement. (Shepler, Youthscapes, p. 125) In A Long Way Gone,
Ishmael Beach was joined the rebel to avenge the deaths of (my) family and to survive. (Beach, A

My Personal Educational Philosophy Essay
Educational Philosophy Essay My personal educational philosophy is a combination of perennialism
and essentialism, which leaves me uniquely well armed to teach my subject of choice: History.
History, viewed as a whole, is a monument to the achievements of Man. It is unchanging, though new
aspects may be found or brought to light, and it can be viewed from many angles, it is an unchanging
truth that what happened, has indeed happened. Through a thorough and guided exploration of this
subject, students can learn many of the essential skills they will need to succeed later in life. My desire
to teach and the development of my particular philosophy can be relatively easily derived from my
own, personal, history. My earliest memorable connection with the subject that defines me came from
semi monthly trips to my great grandparents home in Jacksonville, TX. Every trip we would pass a
large stone monument to Sam Houston, a man who was essential to the development of the state of
Texas. After enough questions about his life my parents took us on a trip to San Antonio, Texas, where
the Presidio San Antonio de Bexar sits The Alamo. Here I began to delve into military history, and the
complexity of stories being written from both sides of the trenches and firing lines. Reading those
stories, and the experiences of the men in them, I realized that they were experiencing feelings similar
to ones that regular people experience on a daily basis: anxiety, depression, self doubt, and

Essay topic: Symbioses between Prokaryotic cells that happened approximately 2 billion years ago are
thought to be at the origin of Eukaryotes. But mutually dependent symbioses continue to be
established at the cellular and organism levels. Read the section on the origin of Eukaryotes in the unit

symbioses in the origin and evolution of cells and organisms with novel capabilities.
Student and ID
Symbiosis refers to the close, mutually beneficial association between two or more different biological
species, which enables these species to undergo organismal evolution and variation in an assortment
of ways (Takahiro, Yoshiko, Naruo, Manabu, Nori, Takema 2016). Symbiosis comes in three main
forms of interaction; mutualistic, communalistic and parasitic. (10). The endosymbiont theory refers to
the collection of principles that models the origins of the mitochondrion, which commenced with the
engulfing of a bacterium by an archaeon (2). Such an establishment at cellular and organism levels is
of high importance for environmental, agricultural and human health (3). The origins of Eukaryotic
cells and its evolution, as well as the novel capabilities of certain cells and organisms as a result of
symbiosis is increasingly being recognised as an applied importance and hence will be the key focus
of this essay.

Essay on The Cherokee Trail of Tears
With the discovery of the New World came a whole lot of new problems. Native American Indians
lived in peace and harmony until European explorers interrupted that bliss with the quest for money

descendants starting pushing the natives out of their homes, out of their land, far before the 1800s.
However, in the 1800s, the driving force behind the removal of the natives intensified. Thousands of

the body that assists with motor function and movement. There are three types of muscles in the
human body that are included within this system. Smooth muscles are involuntary and are found
inside organs such as the stomach and throat. Skeletal muscles are voluntary and are located
everywhere throughout the body. The third type of muscles are cardiac muscles that are involuntary
and keep your heart beating. While most people associate muscles with strength, they do more than
assist in lifting heavy objects. The 650 muscles in the body not only support movement controlling
walking, talking, sitting, standing, eating and other daily functions that we consciously perform.
Muscles also help to maintain posture and circulate blood and other substances throughout the body,
among other functions. Muscles can also be identified by their function. The flexor group of the
forearm flexes the wrist and the fingers. The supinator is a muscle that supinates the wrist by rolling it

Summary Of Preface To God s Determinations By Edward Taylor
Numerous people have a theory about how the world was created. Some say it was evolution, and
others trust that it was the magnificent Lord that reigns above. In the poem, Preface to God s
Determinations, Edward Taylor exposes God s handiwork through his countless use of metaphors. By
comparing the immense land features to mediocre objects, he reveals the wonders God has shaped.
Taylor uses the word infinity to start the poem, this states that God is everlasting and has been since
the beginning of time. God created the world from nothing and shaped it to his liking. He single
handedly formed the world into what it is today.
The use of metaphors throughout the poem allows the audience to picture what God has made with
objects that we see today. This is evident when he states, Who in this Bowling Alley bowled the Sun?
Countless people have been bowling before, and Taylor compares the sun to a bowling ball being
hurled down the alley. With Rivers like green Ribbons Smaragdine? is another example that Taylor
uses. He compares the endless rivers to ribbons displaying an emerald green color. Taylor also
conveys his message through his precise description and tone. This poem transmits the ... Show more

The use of rhyme and plain style allows the poem to flow and both make it easier for the audience to
interpret. There are a few occasions when he uses off rhyme. One instance is when he reveals who
created all the marvelous work. He says, Who? Who did this? Or who is He? Why, know It s Only
Might Almighty this did do. The words do and know do not rhyme, emphasizing the importance of the
lines. Taylor also uses an abundance of visual imagery throughout the poem. This helps the audience
comprehend the land features that he compares to everyday objects. When he says, Who hung the
twinkling Lanthorns in the Sky? he compares lanthorns to the stars that shimmer through the shadowy

Essay on Garden Depot
1. What factors have led to Janice Bowman s current frustrations?
Answer:
Janice Bowman joined The Garden Depot in 2005, after working as a general manager for one of the
competitors. Although, Janice did not complain working seven days a week, she was concerned about
the way the landscaping division was functioning. Some of the major causes of her frustration could
be listed as:
1. Derek Sinclair: was the manager of the landscaping department was unqualified for the job. He

2. Consider the workplace culture at the Garden Depot. Is it contributing to the present problems
Bowman is experiencing?
Answers:
On assessing the work culture at Garden Depot, it is clear that there is lack of synchronization in the
organization there is inappropriate positioning of employees. This situation has led to a number of
circumstances which have contributed to Bowman s worries. We can analyze them as:
1. Improper Recruitment Lack of Training: Improper recruiting seems to be the major cause of
mishap. The Depot recruits seasonal students who intend to leave in a short period. This causes quality
delivery inconsistency as they do not perform as well as a permanent employee. Unlike, an
experienced senior employee, they constantly need to be supervised.
In addition to that, there is no proper guidance given to help these employees perform well. Since,
there is a constant turnover of employees, it becomes difficult to train them. Also, training is

Thesis Discussion
DNA phenotyping serves to determine the physical attributes of a specific individual based off of
genetic material that was left behind at a crime scene. By being able to determine physical traits such
as hair color, eye color, height and skin pigmentation researchers can narrow in on the appearance of a
person who committed a crime. This is crucial in forensic genetics who s geneticists play a vital role

Science is providing us the chance to change lives and save lives, outweighing the negatives that may
result. Forensic DNA Phenotyping will make crime investigation increasingly more efficient due to it
s ability to determine certain attributes of the suspect. Instead of the police investigators searching for
a suspect without any idea of who they should be searching for, through DNA phenotyping police can
now have a narrower clue as to the appearance of the individual due to the ability to determine their
faces morphology including hair color, eye color, skin pigmentation, gender, and height. Compared to
current practice of racial profiling used by investigators following a crime, DNA phenotyping would
eliminate this practice by providing and more detailed profile of who it is they should be searching for.
Making forensic DNA phenotyping far more efficient and reliable then other methods. Also, the use of
eye witnesses who are not always accurate often lead to the conviction of an innocent individual. This
can be prevented by forensic DNA phenotyping and eliminate the possibility of a wrong accusation by
providing genetic basis for it s claims. Though more phenotyping is in the works, currently sex, hair
color, and iris color have been proven, along with being able to provide a detailed profile of an
individual. Also, DNA phenotyping such as testing for a DNA match, or simply matching
DNA/fingerprints to an individual should be used because the results are fact

Many times when watching television, we see horrible news about a crime committed, which is most

death penalty. First degree murder triggers our emotions to see justice. Even in a country where
everyone is innocent until proven guilty, we are quick to pass judgment and convict the suspect in
question. With technology so advanced in the United States where we can receive the news even into

Supporters believe murder for murders is the only way to bring justice, and people would consider the
analogy before committing these types of crimes. Supporters of the capital punishment system penalty
argue that when enforced, the death penalty saves lives. The fault placed into the opposing side for
using the system with new trials to postpone execution. The problem with that argument is that in
Florida, a total of twenty five death row prisoners had been released due to erroneous convictions and
were able to prove innocence, not a strong argument when lives are at risk. Meanwhile, the police
department is facing budget cuts because the state of Florida is facing a deficit of billions of dollars.
At this moment, budget cuts are affecting all government departments not only the police Department,
but also fire department and education are also been affected. Fifty one million dollars is the cost to
enforce death penalty in Florida. If the death penalty is eliminated, would be a savings of eleven
millions would be saved just in specialist lawyers for death penalty cases. Imagine allocating eleven
million dollars just in the police department for crime prevention. Supporters of the death penalty will
argue that life in prison is not enough to bring the much needed justice to the families of the victims.

Theory, An Optimal Executive Compensation Scheme Essay
In theory, an optimal executive compensation scheme overcomes the principal agent problem by
aligning the interests of executives and shareholders, and subsequently providing executives an
incentive to maximise shareholder value. Furthermore, an executive compensation scheme must be
sufficient to attract and retain the appropriate executive. According to Bognanno (2014), restricted
stocks and stock options are the most common forms of equity based compensation schemes, with
stock options accounting for almost half of US CEO compensation in 2000. Since economic agents
respond to incentives, the intuition behind equity based compensation schemes is that providing
executives with a form of compensation that is tied with the performance of the company, will provide
an incentive for the executive to maximise shareholder value. For instance, assume an executive is
provided with a stock option of 100 stocks with a strike price of $10, the executive will only receive a
payoff if the stock price is above $10 (see Figure 1). If the stock price is above the strike price, the
executive is able to exercise the option by purchasing the stock at $10 and selling the stock on the spot
market. Since the executive has an incentive to maximise his or her payoff, the executive s interests
are in theory, aligned with shareholders and the executive is expected undertake activities which
maximises shareholder value.
DiPrete et al. (2010) suggest that executive compensation practices cannot be

The Importance Of Income For Professional Baseball Players
Research was made in order to persuade the readers of how professional baseball players in today s
society deserve the income they are receiving. Possessing the ability to play at a professional level is
what makes these men truly worthy of their income.
Considerable Income for Professional Baseball Players The average salary of a professional baseball
player has been increased substantially throughout the past decades; a player today makes exceedingly
more than they used to. Baseball is different from other sports due to the mental aspect of the game
making it one of the hardest sports as a professional athlete. The uphill battle to become a professional
at the sport of baseball is near impossible as talent is more frequent throughout the globe. Some argue
whether baseball is a beneficial career to the community as other professions including firefighters,
fireman, policeman, and nurses deserve the admiration more than a professional baseball player. Good
ball players are always in demand throughout the league. MLB players are highly skilled athletes thus
earning them the right to such a high income as they bring value to the organization and have put in
dedicated hours of hard work, dedication, and practice throughout all levels of play.

The sixth mass extinction is on the way and could be as massive as the extinction that wiped out the

understand what biodiversity is and what will happen when you tamper with it. According to Anup

Earth or in an ecosystem. Every species plays an important role in the ecosystem or in the world, no
matter how big or small. A way to incorporate this into easier terms is the food chain or food web.

Altering the biodiversity could cause the loss of an environment such as the Malayan field rat incident
in the Chiew Larn islands. Laurance, William wrote the article, Islands of Extinction, which speaks of
the Chiew Larn and how the reservoir was flooded. Larger animals perished due to the fact of how
small Chiew Larn islands were during the flood. Chiew Larn island measures from 1 hectare, 2.5
acres, to 60 hectares, 148 acres. Some large animals such as tigers, deer, and elephants might have
disappeared into the forest surrounds the reservoir. Because of this flood, it was easier for the Malayan
field rat to come and invade the Chiew Larn islands. One of William colleague, Tony Lynam, traveled
and did an experiment on the Chiew Larn islands after the flood. Tony s experiment was to use baited
live traps to capture small mammals left on the island and ear tags them. The result that Lynam had
discovered was astounding because the native mammal species had vanished within 10 hectares of the
area (Laurance, 2014). The tragic change of the environment had lost the once healthy and plentiful
biodiversity in the area. This is the start of an invader known as the Malayan field rat. A Malayan field
rat, an adaptable species, can be compared to the well and common known black rat. The Malayan
field rat lives near human settlements and agriculture. Luke Gibson, a Ph.D. student at the

Predicting Performance Of Post Graduate Education From...
Predicting performance in post graduate education from admissions information comparisons of health
professions with pharmacy
Richard E Wilcox, PhD* and Kenneth A Lawson, PhD ABSTRACT
Objectives. The goal of the present review was to assess the state of performance prediction in health
care programs generally, versus performance in pharmacy schools, using didactic and non didactic
admissions measures. This is important because clinical success represents a combination of skills that
are not fully predicted by either type of measure alone.
Methods. PubMed searches were conducted focusing on work published from 2000 onwards, since it
is during this period that non didactic admissions measures have come to be incorporated into the
applicant evaluation process. Relevant papers that were available as free full text were used. When
these papers were not available by direct import into EndNote, we went directly to the journal to try to
retrieve the paper.
Results. Published literature clearly showed that prediction of performance in the didactic portions of
health care programs is straightforward when based on pre health care GPA and achievement test
scores. The best predictions are achieved when both measures are combined. While significant
statistical prediction is achieved in virtually every study, the percent of total performance variance
accounted for is also consistent and uniformly small in the order of 25%. Similarly, there is now an
emerging consensus that

Privacy, Surveillance, And Law Essay
Introduction
1 As technology changes the way we live, especially by making communication and transactions
easier, the security of our personal information becomes an important issue if people are expected to
trust the government, companies, and each other. Although scholars have provided several accounts of
the importance of privacy, it still remains unclear how individuals view and value it. For the purposes
of this essay, privacy is broadly defined as the controlled access to personal information or ideas. In
this paper, I will examine Richard Posner s article Privacy, Surveillance, and Law and Neil Richards s
paper The Dangers of Surveillance. Although both Posner and Richards begin with the same
assumption that people fear public scrutiny, their different interpretations of this human nature lead to
different conclusions. While Richards relates privacy to our fundamental rights so that he considers
any surveillance dangerous, Posner s belief that we value privacy as a possession that promotes other
ends is more justified because it allows individuals to weigh the costs and benefits of surveillance.
People Fear Public Scrutiny
2 Fundamentally, both Posner s and Richards s arguments stem from the assumption that people fear
public scrutiny. Accordingly, Richards claims that public exposure pressures people into conformity.
The prospect of drawing unwanted attention due to deviant behavior encourages people to change
such behavior. This is an observation of the

sign. I thought to myself, perhaps she had gone to look for help at one of the nearby farms, but that
seemed fairly unlikely. My wife was not of Dutch origin, and her tongue for the language was fairly
unintelligible. I called her name several times before I heard the loud clonking of an animals hoof, a
horse, perhaps. I squinted at the path ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I made it to the new path just in time to see the visitor breaching the top of the hill. Relief fell over me
and I jogged swiftly towards the farmer. Hello, sir! Boy, I am glad to see you. I have lost my way
among these paths, and I am in search for my wife! It s quite funny, actually, I was cycling over a
great hill and suddenly my legs had become stronger! Oh, but of course it was just my wife, who had
seemingly jumped off of the cycle. Aha! I m searching for her now, have you seen her? She likes to
talk a lot, if you must know. He stared at me with a look of amusement, and then spoke with a
chuckle, I haven t seen your wife, sir, but I do know there is a town just down this path. Perhaps she is
there. I wish you luck on your journey, good fellow. He slipped past me and continued down the path
whistling to himself. I chuckled at how peculiar the man seemed, then mounted my bicycle and
gracefully continued down the path into

Taoism And Confucianism Similarities
From our class, there are three major religions in China, Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism. Unlike
Buddhism, both of Taoism and Confucianism were found in China, therefore most of these two
religions are similar, but some of them are different, such as beliefs. The reason is that these two
religions were found by different people, so that they have different understanding of life and world.
Both of Taoism and Confucianism were found at the similar age, but different leaders lead these two
religions to have different concepts. Taoism was found by Lao Tzu, who was a curator of Chou
dynasty. He emphasized that the close relationship between human and nature is the most important
concept in Taoism. Natural place such as mountains and rivers are ... Show more content on

This rule included the relationship between ruler and subject, father and son, husband and wife, friend
and friend, and elder and younger. It stated that each individual has a responsibility to others, so one
should become others example by acting their best with virtue. In Confucianism, unlike Taoism, virtue
is not inherent, and it is accumulate during the lifelong learning.
On the other hand, Confucians are taught by Four books and Five Classics that included history,
poetry, rites and many different subjects. In this way, Confucians could learn much more useful
knowledge than Taoism, and it also make its scholars and students become literate so that it will make
a good effort on developing the country. In my opinion, Confucianism is a religion, which is focused
on society living and relationship, and it could be a good concept for government to manage the

The Catcher In The Rye And The Kite Runner
The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger and The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini are both significant
literary merits narrated by characters, Amir and Holden, who are both longing for the acquisition of
innocence. Both of these characters journeys are portrayed through foreshadowing, irony, and the
characters inability to face reality. However, The Catcher in the Rye is cynical and bitter while The
Kite Runner is full of sorrow and remorse. In The Kite Runner, the narrator starts off by setting the
scene and stating that this was the moment that he became who he is today. Amir, the main character,
is peering into an alley, crouched behind a mud wall. The narrator does not elaborate much past that,
there is no context to the situation and leaves the reader wanting an explanation. Later, however, the
scene reappears. Not only does the scene resurfaces, but, it becomes the setting for the main conflict in
the book and ultimately Amir s life, the raping of Hassan, his best friend. This is the moment where all
innocence is lost and leaves Amir fighting to regain what he has quickly lost. This scene is also just
after the last time Amir will see Hassan smile until years later, in a polaroid picture. This use of
foreshadowing indicates Hassan s death, which does not happen until towards the end of the book.
From the reader s perspective, knowing that this is the last time Amir sees Hassan happy and alive
portrays a very sorrowful tone. The Catcher in the Rye is similar in

Comin Thro The Rye
Title: After reading the title, I believe that the poem is going to have something to do with a large
piece of land because of the word rye. Interpretively, this story could be referring to the fact that the
narrator might feel lost or alone. This is because I believe that Comin thro the rye means that a person
is going through a feeling of emptiness in which they are trying to overcome. The narrator might feel
as if they don t know where they stand in life therefore, creating an internal conflict for themselves.
Paraphrase: The poem is showing the feelings of a man who is demeaning and seeing her as a sexual
object. In this poem, Robert Burns states, Oh Jenny s a weet poor body Jenny s seldom dry. These two
lines show us how the narrator ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the poem, Robert Burns states, Gin a body kiss a body Need a body cry. This shows how the word
cry is representing how Jenny is trying to call out for help however, no one is there to help her get out
of this situation. This establishes a discouraging tone because today in our world, we can see how
victims of abuse often try to reach to someone however, no one gives them a chance for their voice to
be heard. Also, we can see how if a woman like Jenny is sexually abused, then she is not given the
help she needs, instead she is shamed by society. Another example is the word draigl t . In the poem,
Robert Burns states, She draigl t a her petticoatie. After reading this, I felt pity for Jenny because she
is trying to cover up what happened to her so that she is not judged by others and so that she could
escape from this situation. Attitude: The speaker s attitude is hostile towards the value of women. The
speaker believes that women should only be looked upon as sexual objects and not as actual people.
The author has a different attitude than the speaker. The author wants to inform people on how women
are treated in the real world and how they are left no other option but to recover on their own. The
author wants us to see the reality of how women are not given as much of a voice by

We will learn about how networks work and about the different types of them. You will also learn about all of the Physical devices in a network which make it work. The First Type of network we will talk about it LAN this stands Local Area Network. LAN networks can range in size from two computers, but the size is limitless from there the only restriction is hardware. One example of a LAN is your home network you have different device that connect to each other to get a service, which is the internet. LANs use the IEEE standards to make sure there is inter compatibility between different hardware from different manufacturers on LANs. LANs also use a range of protocols to help provide different functions, for example LANs use the TCP/IP protocol suite to communicate with WANs such as the internet. LANs may also use the token ring protocol to control network access also they may use Fibre Distributed Data Interface to provide a backbone for LANs spread over large distances. Normally LANs in a corporate network can be a mixture of wireless and wired connections they use different technologies to avoid network collisions. The best way to think of network collisions is like a tunnel with cars going through and if two cars want to go down the same lane at the same time they will collide this would prevent the car from getting to its destination, this is the same ... What to Consider in an Intervention Plan Arrays of tools, treatment and practices have been developed for use during a clinical consultation to help determine suicidal thoughts, concerns and behaviors (James, 2013). Within the tools developed determinant conditions and preindication signs are identified (Montague, Cassidy Liles, 2016). The succeeding section will distinguish and outline risk factors, suicide hints and suicidal assessment that are designed to gauge suicidal thoughts, concerns and behaviors (Montague, Cassidy Liles, 2016). A suicide assessment is essential for clients who have suicidal behavior (Ribeiro, Bodell, Hames, Hagan, Joiner, 2013). A suicide risk assessment can be a vital step for prevention of suicidal behavior (Ribeiro, Bodell, Hames, Hagan, Joiner, 2013). Suicide risk assessment is a crucial element in working with saddened clients and is the initial step in treating suicidal clients (Huh et al., 2012; Regehr, LeBlanc, Bogo, Paterson, Birze, 2015). The risk of attempting or finalizing a suicide increases with the more signs or symptoms a client disclose (Kanel, 2015). • 8. An Analysis Of The Banjo By Louis Gottschalk To recover from the storm, I select The Banjo by Louis Gottschalk as my next piece. In contrast to the fierce thunderstorm in Moonlight s third movement, Banjo is full of cheerful and light hearted melodies. As if a sunshower, the music refreshes our mind and energizes our spirit. Staccato, one of the most remarkable characteristics in this piece, brings energy to the entire music. In the subject line of the A section (this piece has a five part A B A B A form), the melody of the left hand purely consists of staccatos whose short, bouncing feature opens up a dynamic theme., This dynamic is further expressed as the piece enters B section, since the high pitched notes have more distinguishable sounds and a more rapid speed. This movement then culminates at five major chords whose high pitch and strong, sharp volume produce an extraordinarily penetrating sound. All these movements delineates a playful scene of rain dancing at every corner of the world: on a roof, a stream, an umbrella, a petal of flower, etc. By reflecting sunlight, every drop of rain looks like a shining crystal that illuminates the surroundings and illuminates our heart. Another interesting point of this piece is the use of an old music, Capetown Races. Capetown Races resembles the tune of nursery rhymes and introduces an innocent, childlike sense. In The Banjo, the main melody of the old song comes from the right hand region and are expressed through octave chords. As the main melody repeats, the notes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My Personal Educational Philosophy Essay Educational Philosophy Essay My personal educational philosophy is a combination of perennialism and essentialism, which leaves me uniquely well armed to teach my subject of choice: History. History, viewed as a whole, is a monument to the achievements of Man. • 22. Summary Of Preface To God s Determinations By Edward Taylor Numerous people have a theory about how the world was created. Some say it was evolution, and others trust that it was the magnificent Lord that reigns above. In the poem, Preface to God s Determinations, Edward Taylor exposes God s handiwork through his countless use of metaphors. By comparing the immense land features to mediocre objects, he reveals the wonders God has shaped. Taylor uses the word infinity to start the poem, this states that God is everlasting and has been since the beginning of time. God created the world from nothing and shaped it to his liking. Compared to current practice of racial profiling used by investigators following a crime, DNA phenotyping would eliminate this practice by providing and more detailed profile of who it is they should be searching for. • 31. Theory, An Optimal Executive Compensation Scheme Essay In theory, an optimal executive compensation scheme overcomes the principal agent problem by aligning the interests of executives and shareholders, and subsequently providing executives an incentive to maximise shareholder value. Furthermore, an executive compensation scheme must be sufficient to attract and retain the appropriate executive. According to Bognanno (2014), restricted stocks and stock options are the most common forms of equity based compensation schemes, with stock options accounting for almost half of US CEO compensation in 2000. Since economic agents respond to incentives, the intuition behind equity based compensation schemes is that providing executives with a form of compensation that is tied with the performance of the company, will provide an incentive for the executive to maximise shareholder value. For instance, assume an executive is provided with a stock option of 100 stocks with a strike price of $10, the executive will only receive a payoff if the stock price is above $10 (see Figure 1). If the stock price is above the strike price, the executive is able to exercise the option by purchasing the stock at $10 and selling the stock on the spot market. Since the executive has an incentive to maximise his or her payoff, the executive s interests are in theory, aligned with shareholders and the executive is expected undertake activities which maximises shareholder value. Every species plays an important role in the ecosystem or in the world, no matter how big or small. A way to incorporate this into easier terms is the food chain or food web. Altering the biodiversity could cause the loss of an environment such as the Malayan field rat incident in the Chiew Larn islands. Laurance, William wrote the article, Islands of Extinction, which speaks of the Chiew Larn and how the reservoir was flooded. Larger animals perished due to the fact of how small Chiew Larn islands were during the flood. Chiew Larn island measures from 1 hectare, 2.5 acres, to 60 hectares, 148 acres. Some large animals such as tigers, deer, and elephants might have disappeared into the forest surrounds the reservoir. Because of this flood, it was easier for the Malayan field rat to come and invade the Chiew Larn islands. One of William colleague, Tony Lynam, traveled and did an experiment on the Chiew Larn islands after the flood. Tony s experiment was to use baited live traps to capture small mammals left on the island and ear tags them. The result that Lynam had discovered was astounding because the native mammal species had vanished within 10 hectares of the area (Laurance, 2014). The tragic change of the environment had lost the once healthy and plentiful biodiversity in the area. This is the start of an invader known as the Malayan field rat. Predicting performance in post graduate education from admissions information comparisons of health professions with pharmacy Richard E Wilcox, PhD* and Kenneth A Lawson, PhD ABSTRACT Objectives. The goal of the present review was to assess the state of performance prediction in health care programs generally, versus performance in pharmacy schools, using didactic and non didactic admissions measures. This is important because clinical success represents a combination of skills that are not fully predicted by either type of measure alone. Methods. PubMed searches were conducted focusing on work published from 2000 onwards, since it is during this period that non didactic admissions measures have come to be incorporated into the applicant evaluation process. Relevant papers that were available as free full text were used. When these papers were not available by direct import into EndNote, we went directly to the journal to try to retrieve the paper. Results. Published literature clearly showed that prediction of performance in the didactic portions of health care programs is straightforward when based on pre health care GPA and achievement test scores. The best predictions are achieved when both measures are combined. While significant statistical prediction is achieved in virtually every study, the percent of total performance variance accounted for is also consistent and uniformly small in the order of 25%. Privacy, Surveillance, And Law Essay Introduction 1 As technology changes the way we live, especially by making communication and transactions easier, the security of our personal information becomes an important issue if people are expected to trust the government, companies, and each other. Although scholars have provided several accounts of the importance of privacy, it still remains unclear how individuals view and value it. For the purposes of this essay, privacy is broadly defined as the controlled access to personal information or ideas. In this paper, I will examine Richard Posner s article Privacy, Surveillance, and Law and Neil Richards s paper The Dangers of Surveillance. Although both Posner and Richards begin with the same assumption that people fear public scrutiny, their different interpretations of this human nature lead to different conclusions. While Richards relates privacy to our fundamental rights so that he considers any surveillance dangerous, Posner s belief that we value privacy as a possession that promotes other ends is more justified because it allows individuals to weigh the costs and benefits of surveillance. People Fear Public Scrutiny 2 Fundamentally, both Posner s and Richards s arguments stem from the assumption that people fear public scrutiny. Accordingly, Richards claims that public exposure pressures people into conformity. The prospect of drawing unwanted attention due to deviant behavior encourages people to change such behavior. However, The Catcher in the Rye is cynical and bitter while The Kite Runner is full of sorrow and remorse. In The Kite Runner, the narrator starts off by setting the scene and stating that this was the moment that he became who he is today. This is the moment where all innocence is lost and leaves Amir fighting to regain what he has quickly lost.
