The Cold War Period ( 1945-1991 )
Since the Cold War period (1945 1991) the international community has faced a plethora of
challenges, none greater than the current, and rapidly growing threat of climate change. In this
essay, climate change will be acknowledged as a legitimate phenomenon, which is presently faced
by the global population. Described as a shift in the Earth s weatherpatterns over a time scale
spanning longer than a decade, climate changeis directly related to the variation in quantities of
extreme weatherevents worldwide. This paper will specifically argue on the consequences of these
extreme weather events which have the potential to destabilise and weaken nations. Along with
prospectively injuring the lives of many civilians and forcing them to flee their State, in search of
safety in that of neighbouring countries, this resulting in the security threat and crisis of climate
refugees. Corresponding to these threats is the challenge of cooperation under anarchy, as climate
change is that of a global commons concern. Climate change possesses the ability to significantly
pose a threat to all humans, and in a world of international anarchy. Compiling with States and
Nations looking to further their own agenda, it presents another dimension of complexity, which
showcases the difficulties, need and importance of addressing what is known to be the most
significant international relation issue of our time.
Whilst change in the Earth s temperature has varied throughout the course of history,

Was Prohibition Wrong
Prohibition was aptly termed the Noble Experiment and it resulted in an increased prison
population, along with massive black market crime. For example, the homicide rate reached a
record level in 1933 and it is no coincidence that the homicide rate didn t surpass that level until
1974 when Nixon intensified the drugwar. In addition, roughly half of the prison population in
1930 was there for alcohol related offenses. Likewise, roughly half of the inmates in federal
prison are now serving drug sentences. As a result, the court system is drowning with cases.
However, there is a precedent. Prohibition marked the first time in American history when the
sheer number of cases forced judges to begin offering plea bargains in order to clear... Show more

John W. Huffman, was the unwitting creator of this gray market of synthetic marijuana. Huffman
created various synthetic marijuana compounds for medical marijuana research. However, some
people analyzed his research papers and created these drugs for commercial sales. He s frustrated
with the series of events that unraveled and he warns about the dangers of synthetic marijuana,
comparing it to playing Russian roulette. You can t overdose on marijuana, but you might on these
compounds, Huffman said. These things are dangerous, and marijuana isn t, really.
Another unintended consequence of the war on drugs has been a dramatic decrease in the rule of
law. Gang culture has grown at such a rapid pace that there are now an estimated 900,000 current
gang members involved in 20,000 different gangs in the U.S. One cop explained, Street gangs don t
have to recruit; they re not running around looking under mattresses for recruits; kids want to join.
Consequently, legalizing drugs would cut off the main draw to gang activity, which is profit from

A Peasant’s Life
A Peasant s Life The peasant has always been looked upon as an object of pity, an underclass
citizen who worked to provide for the higher classes. A passage from Pierce the Ploughman s
Creed gives the perfect description of a day in the life of a peasant: As I went by the way,
weeping for sorrow, I saw a poor man hanging on to the plough. His coat was of a coarse stuff
which was called cary; his hood was full of holes and his hair stuck out of it. As he trod the soil
his toes stuck out of his worn shoes with their thick soles; his hocks on all sides and he was all
bedaubed with muck as he followed the plough. He had two mittens, scantily made of rough stuff,
with worn out fingers and thick with muck. This man bemired himself in mud... Show more content

Behind each house was a garden or small plot of land. The common fields surrounding the
village were some distance away, divided into strips and separated by twigs and pieces of
unplowed land. Past the open fields was the waste, the uncultivated land which provided grazing
land for the cattle, sheep and pigs and also fuel and timber for building.11 Bread was the staple
item of the peasant diet. Eating meat was either a rare or nonexistent occurrence. Peasants ate
whatever they grew: grains and a small percent of vegetables and potatoes. Barley and oats were
made into both food and drink for consuming. The good grains, the meat from the animals, and
the tasty fruits and vegetables went to either the lords or to the upper classes.12 The peasant s
housing was as basic as his diet. Most houses consisted of two rooms, one for living and one for
sleeping. The walls were constructed of clay or straw supported by wooden frames. The roofs
were thatched and animals were free to wander in and out. The smells of animals, sweat and waste
were anything but pleasant and were more than plentiful.Water was gathered from an outside well

Beethoven, Ludwig Van Beethoven ( 1770-1827 )
Beethoven Biography
Beethoven, Ludwig van (1770 1827). He is known for some of the most influential pieces of
music ever written, Ludwig van Beethoven created a bridge between the 18th century classical
period and the new beginnings of Romanticism. His greatest breakthroughs in composition came
in his instrumental work, including his symphonies. Beethoven had a very hard childhood. He
was 1 of 7 children, many of which never lived to adulthood. His family was very poor. His father
was an alcoholic with a very bad temper and was very hard on him, however this did not affect his
love for music. He became the breadwinner of the family at 18 years of age due to his father s
death in 1792, which caused their family to grow deeper into poverty.
Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany, however there is no actual record of his date
of birth. Beethoven got his musical training from his father and grandfather who were also
musicians. Although he had only meager academic schooling, he studied piano, violin, and
French horn, and before he was 12 years old he became a court organist. Christian Gottlob Neefe
was one of his earliest teachers. In 1787 he briefly studied with Mozart and years later left to go to
Vienna to study with Joseph Haydn.
Beethoven s first public appearance in Vienna was on March 29, 1795, as a soloist in one of his
piano concerti. He had developed a great reputation for his music before he left Bonn, Germany
and once he reached Vienna his music grew wide

i. In most cases, the more educated a country is, the more developed the country is. The concept
is easier to understand on a smaller scale. Imagine two people, Person A and Person B. Both
Person A and B are extremely intelligent and hardworking; the difference between them is their
opportunities. They both have access to primary school, and do very well. Person A goes on to
graduate from a secondary education, but Person B cannot because he does not have access to it.
Person B gets an unspecialized job, where he cannot utilize his brainpower. His potential is
wasted. After graduating from his secondary education, Person A goes for a tertiary education,
where he gets a degree in engineering. He uses his degree to help his country develop. Now,
imagine a country primarily populated with people like Person A. The country would develop
rapidly. A country primarily populated with people like Person B, however would hardly develop.

Slavery prevented African Americans from reaching their full potential. Just like women in India,
African American s potential contribution to development was untouched. Unfortunately, racial
inequality between African Americans and Caucasians in America went further than the
abolishment of slavery. After the abolishment of slavery, most places were segregated. African
Americans were isolated from opportunity. Fortunately, places are no longer segregated.
Unfortunately, though, this does not make up for everything. As a whole, the African American
population is not as developed. In fact, a significant majority of people living in ghettos are
African American. This is because they had a late start to contributing to development. If it were
not for slavery and segregation, African Americans would be just as developed as any other

Difference of Marketing Product and Service
The Marketing of product and service are different
A product is normally a thing that sold to people and mostly is tangible. Basically, the marketing
of product is particularly focused on 4P s in marketing mix namely product, price, place, and
promotion (Ehmke Fulton Lusk, n.d.). The marketer needs to analyze the major demand of
customers in a specific market in order to find out a product that can respond the market demand.
Firstly, it is necessary for marketers to focus on the strength as well as eliminate the vulnerabilities
of marketed products in order to improve products to meet customer s demand as much as possible.
Secondly, the price is an important factor in product marketing because of the price must be set to
match with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think product and services marketing are significantly different because of characteristic of itself.
The first characteristic of services marketing is intangibility; it cannot be seen, touched or felt prior
consumption. On the other hands, product marketing is tangible, the customer is able to touch,
feel, taste or smell the product either before or after purchasing. For example, when customers walk
through a restaurant, they might get the food smell from the restaurant but they cannot know how
well of service if they do not buy the menu.
Secondly, products can be stored in order to sell to the customer in the next time whereas services
marketing mostly are unable to be inventoried, they are perishable. Hence, the value of service
always exists at the point when it is required. Therefore, it seems to be very difficult to match
supply with demand in service marketing.
Thirdly, the other difference of product and services marketing is the level of relationship between
the client and provider. Undoubtedly, there is much more personal contact required in services
marketing than product marketing. In case of product marketing, customers and sellers may face
each other just once time when they are dealing products and they might have no chance to see
each other again. However, in services marketing, consumers and service providers may have to see
each other frequently throughout until the contract is ended or until the last thing that consumers

How Technology Has Transformed Global Capital Markets Into...
In The Fourth Paradigm, prominent computer scientists set forward a new data intensive approach
to scientific inquiry that has emerged from the digital age and illustrate how science must overhaul
its present cyberinfrastructure in order to exploit this revolution. A hurdle in commissioning new
scientific data extraction tools has been that unlike the commercial world, most scientific data
doesn t have high enough economic value to fuel more rapid development . No field more

Most trading is no longer done in person, or even by a person. Up from 0% in 1995, more than
70% of stock transactions in US equity markets are done by autonomous computer based trading
algorithms [2, 3]. Referred to as high frequency traders (HFT), these consist of machines
programmed by mathematicians that trade stocks with strategies not derived from conventional
investing theory, but by earning fractions of cents at a time identifying random imbalances across
the market many times a second. Despite being an established practice, HFTs are not foolproof
and generally earn money on just over 51% of executed trades [58]. Although such methods may
initially not seem lucrative, enormous volumes of trades HFT s perform make such strategies
consistently profitable in the long run ( law of large numbers) and accumulate earnings of pennies
into substantial amounts [45]. In 2009, despite only accounting for 2% of Wall Street firms, high
frequency traders made estimated aggregate profits of $7.2 billion dollars [4]. The complex
algorithms implemented in HFT s are not necessarily better strategists than humans, but are able to
capitalize on momentary profit opportunities that exist for much less than 650 milliseconds the
shortest time frame a human being can make an informed decision [5]. As of today, the fastest an
HFT can input, analyze, and execute a trade is 740

Theme Of Female Oppression In La Casa De Bernarda Alba
FEMALE OPPRRESSION IN LA CASA DE BERNARDA ALBA
Katarina Milosevic
In this essay, female oppression in La Casa de Bernarda Alba will be discussed and analyzed.
However, in order to be able to understand the importance of this theme and the impact it has had on
the play, one must first understand the role of female oppression in the Spanish society in the 1930s.
The 1930s were a period of many changes in Spain, especially because Francisco Franco started
ruling the country and the political problems that arose. Things slowly started changing for
women because of the foundation of Mujeres Libres, a female anarchist organization that fought
for female rights. Until then, the general view of women was that of Proudhon, which meant
that women were to be seen as reproducers whose role was to contribute to the society by taking
care of their household and their children . This was especially common in the rural areas of
Spain, where women could even be forced into arranged marriages against their will and almost
had no say in what happened to them. The main oppressor of La Casa de Bernarda Alba is actually

female characters in the play, but there is another element which has not been mentioned before and
it is religion. Religion, in this case Christianity, promotes chastity and discourages sex before

TRADITIONAL KNOWLEDGE PROTECTION UNDER INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
Innovations based on TK may benefit from patent, trademark, and geographical indication
protection, or be protected as a trade secret or confidential information. However, traditional
knowledge as such knowledge that has ancient roots and is often oral is not protected by
conventional intellectual property systems.
While the policy issues concerning TK are broad and diverse, the IP issues break down into two

The Question that arises is if granted, whether copyright law would be sufficient for the protection
of traditional knowledge?
Some of the major drawbacks in protecting traditional knowledge with copyright are as follows:
1.Authorship: Under the Indian Copyright Law, protection is given to the author or owner of the
work. Traditional Knowledge is community owned knowledge and is generally developed and
evolved through generations to generation. In such case tracing the author of the traditional
knowledge is not only difficult but almost impossible.
2.Protection for Limited Time: Indian copyright protection is time confined as in it is granted for a
particular term of 60 years. Traditional Knowledge is imperative and it should have perpetual
protection rather than limited protection.
3.Fixed form: To protect any work with Copyright under the Indian Copyright Law it is required
that the work must be present in a tangible form. Fixed form of traditional knowledge is hard to
find. In most of the cases, traditional knowledge is passed over generations in a community in
form of stories. These stories are rarely available in fixed form.
As per Indian Copyright law traditional knowledge fails to adhere the requirements that are
precedent to copyright protection. Hence, the protection can easily be denied

The Limits Of My Language Are The Limits Of My World
History of Language
It is argued that the human species are a class of animal. However, the distinctive characteristic that
makes us unique, which makes humans different from all other species, is our ability to use
complex language. Language is thought of as multi sensory, containing not only the verbal and
writing, but also touch, smell, sound, and body elements. As humans are very social beings, people
have the natural instinct to connect and communicate with others, to share our emotions and ideas,
and as a result, learning a language becomes an instinct for each individual. Language is the
device used for communication, Ludwig Wittgenstein, an Austrian philosopher on language, said,
The limits of my language are the limits of my world . By this Wittgenstein implies that people
use just one language and therefore live in just one world, and if someone is not capable of using
the language, their world is narrowed. However, Albert Einstein had a conflicting opinion, he
cheapened the importance of language and said, The words of a language as they are written and
spoken do not seem to play any role in the mechanism of my thought. His quote shows that a

Gsk 3 Regulates Dna Methylation
Gsk 3 Regulates DNA Methylation
Gsk 3 activity has been observed to regulate DNA methylation through altered expression of DNA
methyltransferase Dnmt3a2. This was confirmed by knocking out both Gsk 3 isoforms (Gsk 3
DKO) in mouse ESCs, resulting in the reduction of DNA methylation and altered gene expression
(Meredith et al., 2015; Popkie et al., 2010). Lithium mimics this reduced Gsk 3 activity in two
ways: direct inhibition and indirect inhibition by increasing inhibitory phosphorylation of Gsk 3
(Jope, 2003). These two effects work in synergy to influence Gsk 3 regulated functions.
Interestingly, lithium is commonly used as a mood stabilizer treatment for patients with bipolar
disorder (BPD) (Phiel, 2001). The exact mechanism behind how ... Show more content on

Methyl seq was performed on genomic DNA isolated from lymphoblasts, providing DNA
methylation patterns of the entire genome for each individual. Several loci displayed
hypermethylation in both BPD patients compared to their unaffected siblings. When the
lymphoblast cells were treated with a therapeutic dose of lithium (1mM), results showed
hypomethylation at several loci. Among these, one locus had been hypermethylated in the BPD
cells. This differentially methylated locus was where the novel lncRNA, LINC00486, was
located. Sequencing data has indicated LINC00486 is found in human chromosome 2 and is
flanked by genes TTC27 and LTBP1. A mouse homolog has yet to be discovered. Three distinct
RNAs are predicted to be transcribed from the LINC00486 locus, each of different lengths and
containing different exons.
Non Coding RNA Overview
Recent advantages in genome wide analyses have revealed that roughly 90% of the human
genome is transcribed, yet less than 3% of the genome consists of protein coding genes (Wu et al.,
2013). The remaining genes are transcribed as noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs), which resemble
mRNA in length and splicing structures yet do not encode any proteins (Wu et al., 2013). It has
been debated whether all of the ncRNA transcripts are functional due to their low expression levels
and low evolutionary conservation. However, many functional ncRNA have

Each year, approximately 5,000 young people under the age of 21 die as a result of underage

How come negativity experiences toward the benchmark of one s lifestyle extinguish the
connecting between a variety of norms? As expressed in the article Social Roles by Saul

with an expected idea of how to behave in a particular social group or culture (McLeod). The

With the existence of different traditions and beliefs comes the ideology that one s belief should
overshadow another or not even to be manifested. In the novel kitchen, it elaborates on the
character Mikage, who has been going through many losses of family members uses the kitchen
as a symbolic way to ease her pain. In the Japanese culture at the time, women were seen to be
inferior at the time, Mikage stated, From the bottom of my heart, I wanted to give up; I wanted
to give up on living. There was no denying that tomorrow would come, and the day after
tomorrow, and so next week, too. I never thought it would be this hard, but I would go on living
in the midst of a gloomy depression, and that made me feel sick to the depths of my soul. In
spite of the tempest raging within me, I walked the night path calmly (Yoshimoto 81). The detail
was inserted to explain the eternal struggle of Mikage as she was transitioning through her life
realizing she did not have anyone, and the labels placed upon women. Mikage experienced life,
as it was, going through the agony of being a victim to social stereotypes regarding her norms. As
time progress her self esteem slowly diminished. Also, in The Samurai it displayed the oppression
that was placed upon the samurai because of his religion and beliefs in Japan, with this it made
him disgusted by the way his supposed friend Paul acted towards him.

Introduction Of An Inventory Control Method
I.Introduction to Just in Time
When discussing just in time most people will focus on its initial position as an inventory control
method that attempts to match production as closely to sales as possible. This system attempts to
do this by producing or purchasing items just in time to be used, and thereby minimize the cost of
holding inventory (Lee Ebrahimpour, 2007; Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, 1995). One
expert has stated that just in time seeks to produce and deliver finished goods just in time to be
sold, sub assemblies just in time to be assembled into finished goods, fabricated parts just in time
to go into subassemblies, and purchased materials just in time to be transformed into fabricated
parts. In its most pure sense, just in time, seeks to have zero defects, zero machine setup times,
zero re work, and zero lead time, from the time an order is placed with the company until the
product is shipped to the purchaser (Lee Ebrahimpour, 2007). In this pure just in time inventory
system, once raw materials enter the production facility they are not recorded or inventoried until
they leave as a finished good (Epps, 1995).
The concept of just in time was first established in the 1950 s by T. Ohno, the former executive
Vice Present of the Toyota Motor Company in Japan, to meet the precise demands of customers
for various models and colors of cars with a minimum delay (Swanson Lankford, 1998; Keller
Kazazi, 1993). Ohno himself has stated that his ideas were

The Mountain Air
Gently, I open my tired eyes to the bright morning lights shining through the cracks of my aging
tent. Stretching my horribly sore, cramping legs under my snowsuit, I take in a big breath of the
mountain air. Christopher, Michael are you ready to go yet? Get out of your tents! Rachel hollers
from her tent. Alright, Michael yells bitterly from behind me. Smiling, I carefully unzip my
cramped tent and gaze in awe at my utterly stunning snowy mountain view. Small, white flakes are
falling from the light gray sky, working together to make yet another layer of untouched snow.
Down below are treacherous slopes, steep cliffs, and slippery patches of ice that used to terrify me
but don t anymore. Seeing that Rachel, Michael, and I have been... Show more content on

One man had particularly interesting stories, as he was the group s guide and had trekked up
and down Mount Everest many times before. I have to warn you, he said in a serious tone. The
weather is warming up, and that means the glaciers are too. We saw a big avalanche happen
right before our eyes a few days ago. Be careful, stick together, and consider calling a guide to
help you out. Wide eyed I nod firmly, thank him for the useful advice, and hastily run up the path
to catch up with Rachel and Michael. I walk up the snowy trail, think about the man s wise
words, and realize my feelings are vacillated. We are so close to finishing, but I don t want to
discontinue after all that we have accomplished. Guys, did you hear what that guide said before?
We should start to be more careful , I expressed. Looking at each other, Michael and Rachel came
to the same conclusion: I was crazy. We have been doing this for almost two months, Christopher.
We don t need a guide to boss us around, Rachel snapped at me. Lagging hours of silence between
the three of us become awkward, uncomfortable, and frustrating. Suddenly I hear a thundering
noise coming from behind me, and I nervously turn my head to see what is going on. Gasping, I

Lean Journey at C1
The case narrative was developed from recorded interviews with C1 executives, on site
observations, review of company literature, presentations and website information. Eight operations
and three human resource (HR) executives were interviewed at C1. Although data collection
initially began at C1, obtaining access to HR executives proved more difficult. The interviews were
completed over a one year period at the company, by which time three new companies had been
recruited and data collected for research. While HR interviews encompassed both corporate and unit

The Effect Of Temperature And Dissolved Oxygen...
I.Introduction
Anthropogenic climate change is causing hotter and drier conditions across the southwest United
States. Decades of fire suppression campaigns have led to an accumulation of ladder fuels within
forests across this region. Both of these factors are now contributing to more frequent and more
extreme fires in recent years. These catastrophic fires cause significant changes to ground cover
along stream corridors. The loss of ground cover significantly increases the amount of sediment
entering watersheds, which can alter both temperature and dissolved oxygen levels throughout the
system. The purpose of this paper is to examine the changes in water temperature and dissolved
oxygen concentration associated with wildfire, how these changes can be controlled, how effective
these controls are, and what more can be done.
II.Temperature
Fire can alter stream temperature in several different ways. First, and probably most short lived, is
the immediate temperature spikes caused by the active burning. Second, fire has the potential to
reduce overhead canopy cover, thus increasing light penetration and absorbance by the water.
Finally, additions of large amounts of sediment (which increases the turbidity of water bodies) can
increase the amount of light absorbed thereby increasing the water temperature.
Temperatures in streams can spike during active burning and kill many aquatic invertebrates and
vertebrates. In addition to this immediate consequence, the loss

The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas Analysis
The Boy in Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne is a tragic and remarkable novel which is set in Nazi
Germany during the Second World War and tells the story of a 9 year old boy called Bruno.
Bruno s father was made the commandant of the Auschwitz concentration camp by Hitler which
meant his family had to leave their home in Berlin and move into a soldier paroled house in
Auschwitz. After Bruno does some exploring, he meets a boy the same age as him, named
Shmuel who is a Jew and lives behind a barbed wire fence. Bruno is confused why Shmuel is on
the other side of the fence and why he wears pyjamas all day. As the novel progresses, we learn that
Shmuel is a prisoner of the Auschwitz concentration campthat Bruno s father runs, but Bruno is
completely oblivious to that fact. One day, Bruno s mother heads out of Auschwitz to go run some
errands, when she returns, she smells something unpleasant and asks one of the soldiers what it is.
He replies with they smell even worse when they burn, don t they. From this, we can tell that the
Nazi s believed that they would be a stronger country without the Jewsso they made a plan to burn
them. During the novel, Shmuel and Bruno bond and form a strong friendship. Shmuel one day asks
Bruno to crawl under the barbed wire fence into the concentration camp and help him find his father
when it suddenly starts pouring with rain. Bruno and Shmuel (along with many other men from the
camp) are herded into a long, secure, air tight and surprisingly

Rose Pesotta And The Garment Workers Movement Analysis
Rose Pesotta the vice president of International Ladies Garment Workers Union (ILGWU)
achieved what many believe to be impossible, to organize a large group of primarily Mexican
immigrant workers in the garment industry. In her arrival to Los Angeles in 1933 she quickly
perceive the constraints she would have to work under, from language barriers all the way to
patriarchal challenges. The Garment Worker Movement really connected with her personally
because just like her, the Los Angeles dressmakers were primarily women who were suspicious
of the white world and were strongly expected to fail. She too was an immigrant woman working
for a union that didn t give her much recognition or help because of her sex. The Garment Worker
Movement was a struggle that had built up over the year from enduring all types of violence,
because the system structure has been oppressing women for many years it was believe change
couldn t happen, it wasn t until Pesotta s tactics and strategies to organize that proved everyone
who believed that Mexicans couldn t organize wrong. Both Pesotta and the garment workers were
fighting a battle against patriarchy. The Garment Workers Movement lead by Rose Pesotta was a
result of many years of struggle. This workers were silently suffering from structural violence and
institutional violence not only from their employer but also from the ILGWU. In the article

Manifest destiny and territorial expansion unified the United States from 1830 to 1860 by the
means of creating a sense of safety and peace, increasing the content on the American population,
and aided the economy. Thomas Hart Benton wrote of how more people are moving from Missouri
to Oregon, and promising them that the Government will assist them in doing so by granting them
protection and land. (Document A). This demonstrates how the Government supported the
expansion of the United States, providing protection to those embarking on the journey. President
James Polk also spoke of safety by saying that Texas, as an independent state, is a danger the
safety and future peace of the U.S . (Document F). This shows that annexing Texas kept Americans
safe and America a peaceful place. An editor at the New York Sun wrote of how expanding to the

were used in the Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale to help assess individuals self esteem. According
to the book Essentials of Statistics of Behavioral Science by authors Frederick J. Gravetter and
Larry B. Wallnau (2014) they define reliability as how consistent a study or measuring device is. A
measurement is said to be reliable or consistent if the measurement can produce similar results if
used again in similar circumstances. Along with that they define validity as an indication of
whether the measuring device measures what it claims to. An example of... Show more content on

Without reliability and validity it would be very difficult to decide which research should be
trusted and which should be completely disregarded. The main goal of this report was to assess
reliability and validity through the Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale where participants rated their
level of self esteem from 1 7. A 1 indicated that they strongly disagree and a 7 indicating that they
strongly agree with that trait. Along with this we used Cronbachs alpha to indicate the
consistency within the scale. Method Participants at Texas A M University (N=33) were asked
to report their age, which ranged from 19 to 28years of age and their gender. Twenty five of the
participants were female while the remaining eight were males. The average age of participants
that was frequently reported was 20 years (SD=1.97). A total of 10 items were recorded
(Appendix A, Appendix B, Appendix C, Appendix D, Appendix E, Appendix F, Appendix G,
Appendix H, Appendix I, Appendix J). Each student was asked to write which trait they felt
related to how they felt about themselves. For this section we used Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale,
where a 7 point Likert scale was used, a 1 indicated that they strongly disagree and a 7 indicating
that they strongly agree with that trait. Throughout this report there were 5 out of the 10 traits that
were reverse coded which refers to flipping the category values (i.e. 1 becomes 7, 2 becomes 6, 3
becomes 5.,etc.).

Fidel and the Soviet Union then saw that their relationship could be very beneficial and this
incident helped lead to their decision to place nuclear missiles in Cuba.
Only a few months after the United States sponsored Cuban invasion at the Bay of Pigs, Fidel
Castro had declared himself to be Marxist Leninist, obligating the Soviet Union to protect his
vulnerable communist nation. After Fidel asked the Soviet Union for weapons, trade alliances,
and even Soviet soldiers, the Soviets suggested a different approach medium range ballistic
missiles. Castro agreed, and in 1962, Cuba was the center of world focus when the United States
discovered the construction sites of Soviet nuclear missiles on Cuban soil. Posing an obvious
threat to American safety, the Cuban Missile Crisis, brought the world the closest it ever came to
nuclear war. As the tensions of the Missile Crisis grew, Castro wrote Soviet leader Nikita
Khrushchev urging him to use the missiles and to sacrifice Cuba if necessary. Being only 90 miles
from the US mainland, President Kennedy urged a need for the missiles to be dismantled. The
Soviet Union finally agreed to remove the missiles on the condition that the United States
dismantles its nuclear weapons deployed in Turkey and that they sign a pledge not to invade Cuba.

This essay is going to be focused on intelligence. A persons intelligence is described as a person s
ability to learn and remember information, to recognise concepts and their relations, and to apply
the information to their own behaviour in an adaptive way (Neisser et al., 1996). There are a huge

Robert Sternbergs Triarchic Theory of intelligence. He defines intelligence as
1) the ability to achieve one s goals in life, given one s sociocultural context; 2) by capitalizing on
strengths and correcting or compensating for weaknesses; 3) in order to adapt to, shape, and select
environments; and, 4) through a combination of analytical, creative, and practical abilities

The first form is analytic intelligence. This is whereby people are able to think and evaluate
information. (Jacobson, Mulick, Rojahn, 2007). It involves familiar circumstances where abstract

how people deal with unfamiliar situations and experiences. Practical intelligence is the way in
which people adapt to their surroundings in a positive way. (Jacobson, Mulick, Rojahn, 2007).
Sterbergs theory implies that intelligence is demonstrated by a person s ability to deal with normal

David Herbert Lawrence s Moral And Mental Issues
David Herbert Lawrence was born on 11 September 1885 in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire(Becket
6). He lived in a poor family. His literary books generated mass contradictions and some of his
books were banned because of offensive content. He was affected by the old traditions of the 19th
century and the new ideals of the early 20th century. (Christinat iii). Lawrentian novels were full
of poor dissenters and used these kinds of people for taking ideas for his writings. Also, some
critics assert that there is no contact between his autobiography and writings. His themes are about
the power of immoral energy, political philosophy, romantic nature, spheres of desire and language,
sexuality, human existence, self growth, solution of conflict, selfhood, otherness, and blood
consciousness. He is a kind of writer who opens the various doors to critical viewpoints.Worthern
stated that Lawrence had ethical education in a big assembly of Eastwood and trained himself
both in moral and mental issues (1991a: 64 8). He got help from various sermons and temperance
systems to improve his morality. Ethics and language both helped him to make his personality very
well.He uses in his works the sense of togetherness, Englishness, renewing morality and religious

Most Historians Believe That Mesopotamia
Most historians believe that Mesopotamia, meaning between the rivers in Ancient Greek, is the
oldest urban civilization in history. Life in Mesopotamia is thought to have begun over 6000 years
ago. Mesopotamia is nick named The Cradle of Civilization because of its development of
inventions, culture, class structure, and judicial system.
What was Mesopotamia? Mesopotamia is believed to be the first urban civilization in the history of
the Earth. Mesopotamia was the delta between two rivers which were the Tigris and the Euphratesi.
Many different peoples lived in Mesopotamia, those were the Sumerians, Akkadiams, Babylonians,
the Kassites and Hittites, and the Assyriansii. Out of those, the Sumerians lived in Mesopotamia
the longest. Mesopotamia was located in the best part of the world to get its contributions to
modern society spread out. Mesopotamia was ultimately ended by the Persians in 539 B.C.E. after
taking over Babyloniii.
What were Mesopotamia s inventions? People in Mesopotamia developed inventions that are very
important to human life today. The most important invention to modern civilization that the
Mesopotamians made is the wheeliv. In fact it was the Sumerians that originally made the wheel.
Without the wheel we would not have as effective transportation of goods, letters, and people. We
also would not have things like generators, motors, effective agriculture, etc. We would basically
still be walking or riding on horseback everywhere, maybe we would

Wolfman, Frankenstein, The Mummy, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Dracula, all horrific
images of the Universal Monsters created from the 1920s to the 1930s by Universal Studios. To
the audience these monsters created panic and suspense that made leaving the lights on before bed
a necessary precaution; they are what is seen as a true, scary, monstrous fiction. Many of these
monsters did not begin their stories in cinema however; they began as novels. For Director Tod
Browning s 1931 Dracula, Bram Stoker is truly the mastermind behind the character, in which
Browning brought to life. In today s cinematic vision, we continue to do the same interpretation
from novel to film however not with the same intention and with a new view. For example,
Stephanie Meyer s vampiremonster drama Twilight was reimaged by Catherine Hardwicke in
2008 as a film, gives a whole new image to the classic monster compared to vampire Dracula. In
contrast from Dracula to Twilight, the vampire genre almost becomes a terrifying interpretation of
the past, and with societal interpretation the imagination of a cinematic monster almost becomes a
mirroring image of its own time, and its own social environment ultimately creating a modern
character that becomes more of a desire to be involved with than something to frighten. In the
1930 s while Cinema was at it s golden age in the discovery of sound, America economically was
crushed. In Dinardo s Article, Who s America: Contesting the Meaning of

Dollar General Case Essay
There can be a number of reasons for a company to go public or private. There are benefits, as
well as disadvantages that go along with either course of action (Exhibit 1 for details). When
firms decide to go private, they are no longer listed on any stock exchange market. The pressure
of keeping accounting regularity and reporting to the public is no longer an issue. Instead, firms
can be more flexible to reorganize the business profile as well as the management team. In many
cases, shareholders and board members receive very rewarding financial benefits from this
transaction. However, in some situations, public firms do not have a choice in the matter, as is the
case in a hostile takeover .

How Does Edmond Dantes Change In The Count Of Monte Cristo
The author, Alexandre Dumas, writes a novel about how a man s life has been ruined, and now
wants to take revenge on everyone who wronged him. In the beginning of The Count of Monte
Cristo, a character named Edmond Dantes has the perfect life. He was just promoted to captain at
the age of nineteen, and is about to marry the love of his life. He was the happiest man in the world
that seemed to have a bright future ahead of him. Later on, Edmond Dantes changes tremendously
throughout the book. Edmond becomes a Count. He holds a high reputation in Europe, and has
become a very wealthy man that can buy anything he wants. He has gotten close with other people
who are also very wealthy and hold high reputations in Europe. Edmond in the beginning... Show

Edmond carefully mapped out his plans of how he will leave his enemies devastated once he
gets it. After he returned the horses that he bought off of Danglars, Edmond asks Ali, I
understand you re very skillful in throwing the lasso. Is that right?... listen : A short time from
now a carriage will pass by drawn by two runaway dappled gray horses, the same ones I had
yesterday (Dumas 206). Dantes uses his servant Ali to make himself look good. By having Ali
save Mrs. Villefort and her child, he gains their favor and the whole family now completely
trusts him with their lives. This act enables Dantes to get closer to Villefort and take his justice.
Moreover, Edmond has been able to plan out how he will take his retribution among everyone,
all at once. Edmond reunites a father and son. They think that he is mistaken, but since they are
being paid an abundant amount of francs, they accept it, and pretend as if they are actually
father and son. As the two leave the house, the Count thinks to himself, There go a pair of
scoundrels! What a shame they aren t really father and son! (Dumas 241). The Count
purposefully put these two specific people together in order to achieve his self justice. He had
planned for the father to be Caderousse, and for the son to be Villefort s son. Together, as the
fake Calvantis, they attend a dinner party and they are unaware that the son is in the same room
as the father and mother. Later on, the son will find out his real father and mother, and the
parents will learn that their son is still alive after trying to kill him as a baby. To sum up, the
Count has been able to carefully plan out every single move he will take in order to achieve his

Universal Health Care System
Health care is one of the most important systems in this world. With insurance you are most
likely to receie health care and have a better health status. Uninsured people are less likely to
receive medical care and more likely to have poor health status. When you dont have insurance
you are most likely to pay a lot more money for health care but if you have insurance they are
most likely to cover the whole payment or most of the bill. A universal health care system would
bring costs down and increase access to care.
In 2005, 45 milion Americans lacked insurance which is over 15% of the population. America
needs to get a universal healthcare system because health care is a right that people deserve but
too few people have. The younger generations who are barely getting there first jobs, most of
them dont have insurance which isnt good because not all jobs have insurance benefits included
and people cant afford to get insurance, go to work, school and pay bills at there young age with
their first job. Massachussetts has the 14th lowest unemployment rate in the country Only
government can force order into the jungle of profitable waste and crazy cross subsidies most of
it piled on the backs of taxpayers and employers. America can t be modern without a system of
universal coverage that promotes wise use of health care resources (Harrop,2012). Healthcare costs
are rising faster than inflation, salary increases cant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We can perhaps study the ways other countries have effectively implemented this system. For
example, Europe has a system in which all residents pay into a common fund that creates a pool of
money and provides benefits to all . In order to go through with a universal system the United States
needs to figure out a way to adopt this system that provides care to all citizens. 2 million people
become uninsured every month because they cant afford

Explain Paleey s Philosophical Position For The Existence...
Paley s philosophical position for the existence of a deity can be summarized by the following
statements. 1. Humans are made for a purpose. 2. If humans are made for a purpose, then there
must be a creator behind that purpose. 3. Therefore, there is a creator. (1, 2, 3 MP) His
reasoning for this is by comparing humans as a whole to a machine. Just like a watch, which has
intricate parts that work for a grander design of telling time, so too does the eye for seeing
(Feldman, 1994). The watch, Paley argues could not possibly have just came into being to fulfill
the specific purpose which it presently does. According to Feldman (1994), this still points to a
creator who designed its purpose and knew of its function. Even if it replicated itself

Finding Justice In Frankenstein By Mary Shelly
In the novel Frankenstein written by Mary Shelly the theme of justice was present for every
character. Specifically, Victor had trouble identifying what was right or wrong. Although he was
successful, he had a lot of setbacks that lead to his understanding and importance of such. Victor
frankenstein at first did not comprehend the nature of what finding justice was. For example ,
when the first victim was killed which was his brother he wanted to find justice. As soon as he
started investigating he had a sense of regret afterwards. This lead to his discovery that the killer of
William was his own creation: The creature. This resulted in Victor blaming himself for the deaths
that followed such as Justine, William , Elizabeth and Henry. Victor

The Significance of Australian Youth Culture and Radio
Today the world in which we live in can be seen as a vastly media integrated way of life.
Whether it is film, television or advertising, these forms of media constantly surround us,
influencing and changing the way we live. But what about radio? Some say that radio is dying,
that its use has become useless, that it was only an aid of assistance during the early and mid
1900 s. But the way I see it, I think that radio is more relevant and significant today than it ever
was, especially for the diverse Australian youth cultures. Their lifestyle, education, political views
and social aspects come under a large role due to what they listen to over the radio. So how do
radio stationsmaintain and attract their listeners? What sort of impacts... Show more content on

Australian youths of different ethnicities are searching for more innovative and creative ways of
sourcing and utilizing information in order to exchange their culture and way of life with the wider
community so that they are able to gain a sense of belonging. By broadcasting the news and issues
of a local community and the country of their origin in their own language, it builds and strengthens
new communities as well as establishing confidence and providing the essential atmosphere for the
growing Australian youth.
For many people, community radio broadcasting plays a significant role in their lives especially for
those who come from country or rural areas. As highlighted before, community broadcasting
develops a sense of Australian identity, character and cultural diversity. Statistics show that the 9.5
million people that tune in to community radio each month state that they value their local content
and diverse local music that their community radio produces for them. With regards to the
Australian youth, community radio is of great importance as youths in rural areas are able to keep
up to date with current news as well as their local news as opposed to more urbanised youths
where their news is constantly provided with other forms of media during their everyday lives.
Community radio gives everyone, not just youths, the right set of circumstances needed to keep up
to date and involved with the rest of the

  • 2. The Cold War Period ( 1945-1991 ) Since the Cold War period (1945 1991) the international community has faced a plethora of challenges, none greater than the current, and rapidly growing threat of climate change. In this essay, climate change will be acknowledged as a legitimate phenomenon, which is presently faced by the global population. Described as a shift in the Earth s weatherpatterns over a time scale spanning longer than a decade, climate changeis directly related to the variation in quantities of extreme weatherevents worldwide. This paper will specifically argue on the consequences of these extreme weather events which have the potential to destabilise and weaken nations. Along with prospectively injuring the lives of many civilians and forcing them to flee their State, in search of safety in that of neighbouring countries, this resulting in the security threat and crisis of climate refugees. Corresponding to these threats is the challenge of cooperation under anarchy, as climate change is that of a global commons concern. Climate change possesses the ability to significantly pose a threat to all humans, and in a world of international anarchy. Compiling with States and Nations looking to further their own agenda, it presents another dimension of complexity, which showcases the difficulties, need and importance of addressing what is known to be the most significant international relation issue of our time. For example, the homicide rate reached a record level in 1933 and it is no coincidence that the homicide rate didn t surpass that level until 1974 when Nixon intensified the drugwar. In addition, roughly half of the prison population in 1930 was there for alcohol related offenses. Likewise, roughly half of the inmates in federal prison are now serving drug sentences. As a result, the court system is drowning with cases. However, there is a precedent. A passage from Pierce the Ploughman s Creed gives the perfect description of a day in the life of a peasant: As I went by the way, weeping for sorrow, I saw a poor man hanging on to the plough. His coat was of a coarse stuff which was called cary; his hood was full of holes and his hair stuck out of it. As he trod the soil his toes stuck out of his worn shoes with their thick soles; his hocks on all sides and he was all bedaubed with muck as he followed the plough. Behind each house was a garden or small plot of land. The common fields surrounding the village were some distance away, divided into strips and separated by twigs and pieces of unplowed land. Past the open fields was the waste, the uncultivated land which provided grazing land for the cattle, sheep and pigs and also fuel and timber for building.11 Bread was the staple item of the peasant diet. Eating meat was either a rare or nonexistent occurrence. Peasants ate whatever they grew: grains and a small percent of vegetables and potatoes. Barley and oats were made into both food and drink for consuming. The good grains, the meat from the animals, and the tasty fruits and vegetables went to either the lords or to the upper classes.12 The peasant s housing was as basic as his diet. • 5. Beethoven, Ludwig Van Beethoven ( 1770-1827 ) Beethoven Biography Beethoven, Ludwig van (1770 1827). He is known for some of the most influential pieces of music ever written, Ludwig van Beethoven created a bridge between the 18th century classical period and the new beginnings of Romanticism. His greatest breakthroughs in composition came in his instrumental work, including his symphonies. Beethoven had a very hard childhood. He was 1 of 7 children, many of which never lived to adulthood. His family was very poor. His father was an alcoholic with a very bad temper and was very hard on him, however this did not affect his love for music. He became the breadwinner of the family at 18 years of age due to his father s death in 1792, which caused their family to grow deeper into poverty. Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany, however there is no actual record of his date of birth. Beethoven got his musical training from his father and grandfather who were also musicians. Although he had only meager academic schooling, he studied piano, violin, and French horn, and before he was 12 years old he became a court organist. Christian Gottlob Neefe was one of his earliest teachers. In 1787 he briefly studied with Mozart and years later left to go to Vienna to study with Joseph Haydn. Beethoven s first public appearance in Vienna was on March 29, 1795, as a soloist in one of his piano concerti. Basically, the marketing of product is particularly focused on 4P s in marketing mix namely product, price, place, and promotion (Ehmke Fulton Lusk, n.d.). The marketer needs to analyze the major demand of customers in a specific market in order to find out a product that can respond the market demand. Firstly, it is necessary for marketers to focus on the strength as well as eliminate the vulnerabilities of marketed products in order to improve products to meet customer s demand as much as possible. I think product and services marketing are significantly different because of characteristic of itself. The first characteristic of services marketing is intangibility; it cannot be seen, touched or felt prior consumption. On the other hands, product marketing is tangible, the customer is able to touch, feel, taste or smell the product either before or after purchasing. For example, when customers walk through a restaurant, they might get the food smell from the restaurant but they cannot know how well of service if they do not buy the menu. Secondly, products can be stored in order to sell to the customer in the next time whereas services marketing mostly are unable to be inventoried, they are perishable. Hence, the value of service always exists at the point when it is required. Therefore, it seems to be very difficult to match supply with demand in service marketing. Thirdly, the other difference of product and services marketing is the level of relationship between the client and provider. Undoubtedly, there is much more personal contact required in services marketing than product marketing. In case of product marketing, customers and sellers may face each other just once time when they are dealing products and they might have no chance to see each other again. However, in services marketing, consumers and service providers may have to see each other frequently throughout until the contract is ended or until the last thing that consumers ... Up from 0% in 1995, more than 70% of stock transactions in US equity markets are done by autonomous computer based trading algorithms [2, 3]. Referred to as high frequency traders (HFT), these consist of machines programmed by mathematicians that trade stocks with strategies not derived from conventional investing theory, but by earning fractions of cents at a time identifying random imbalances across the market many times a second. Despite being an established practice, HFTs are not foolproof and generally earn money on just over 51% of executed trades [58]. Although such methods may initially not seem lucrative, enormous volumes of trades HFT s perform make such strategies consistently profitable in the long run ( law of large numbers) and accumulate earnings of pennies into substantial amounts [45]. In 2009, despite only accounting for 2% of Wall Street firms, high frequency traders made estimated aggregate profits of $7.2 billion dollars [4]. The complex algorithms implemented in HFT s are not necessarily better strategists than humans, but are able to capitalize on momentary profit opportunities that exist for much less than 650 milliseconds the shortest time frame a human being can make an informed decision [5]. The 1930s were a period of many changes in Spain, especially because Francisco Franco started ruling the country and the political problems that arose. Things slowly started changing for women because of the foundation of Mujeres Libres, a female anarchist organization that fought for female rights. Until then, the general view of women was that of Proudhon, which meant that women were to be seen as reproducers whose role was to contribute to the society by taking care of their household and their children . Traditional Knowledge is community owned knowledge and is generally developed and evolved through generations to generation. In such case tracing the author of the traditional knowledge is not only difficult but almost impossible. 2.Protection for Limited Time: Indian copyright protection is time confined as in it is granted for a particular term of 60 years. • 16. The Limits Of My Language Are The Limits Of My World History of Language It is argued that the human species are a class of animal. However, the distinctive characteristic that makes us unique, which makes humans different from all other species, is our ability to use complex language. Language is thought of as multi sensory, containing not only the verbal and writing, but also touch, smell, sound, and body elements. As humans are very social beings, people have the natural instinct to connect and communicate with others, to share our emotions and ideas, and as a result, learning a language becomes an instinct for each individual. Language is the device used for communication, Ludwig Wittgenstein, an Austrian philosopher on language, said, The limits of my language are the limits of my world . By this Wittgenstein implies that people use just one language and therefore live in just one world, and if someone is not capable of using the language, their world is narrowed. This was confirmed by knocking out both Gsk 3 isoforms (Gsk 3 DKO) in mouse ESCs, resulting in the reduction of DNA methylation and altered gene expression (Meredith et al., 2015; Popkie et al., 2010). Lithium mimics this reduced Gsk 3 activity in two ways: direct inhibition and indirect inhibition by increasing inhibitory phosphorylation of Gsk 3 (Jope, 2003). These two effects work in synergy to influence Gsk 3 regulated functions. Interestingly, lithium is commonly used as a mood stabilizer treatment for patients with bipolar disorder (BPD) (Phiel, 2001). The exact mechanism behind how ... Several loci displayed hypermethylation in both BPD patients compared to their unaffected siblings. When the lymphoblast cells were treated with a therapeutic dose of lithium (1mM), results showed hypomethylation at several loci. Among these, one locus had been hypermethylated in the BPD cells. This differentially methylated locus was where the novel lncRNA, LINC00486, was located. Sequencing data has indicated LINC00486 is found in human chromosome 2 and is flanked by genes TTC27 and LTBP1. A mouse homolog has yet to be discovered. Three distinct RNAs are predicted to be transcribed from the LINC00486 locus, each of different lengths and containing different exons. Non Coding RNA Overview Recent advantages in genome wide analyses have revealed that roughly 90% of the human genome is transcribed, yet less than 3% of the genome consists of protein coding genes (Wu et al., 2013). The remaining genes are transcribed as noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs), which resemble mRNA in length and splicing structures yet do not encode any proteins (Wu et al., 2013). • 20. Unlocking Social Norms By Saul Mcleod How come negativity experiences toward the benchmark of one s lifestyle extinguish the connecting between a variety of norms? As expressed in the article Social Roles by Saul McLeod he mentioned Social Norms are unwritten rules about how to behave. They provide us with an expected idea of how to behave in a particular social group or culture (McLeod). The article Why are norms important to society by Ryan Muldoon shared what he believed was the reasons on why norms are crucial and the side effects of what could happen without them. In the novel kitchen, it elaborates on the character Mikage, who has been going through many losses of family members uses the kitchen as a symbolic way to ease her pain. In the Japanese culture at the time, women were seen to be inferior at the time, Mikage stated, From the bottom of my heart, I wanted to give up; I wanted to give up on living. There was no denying that tomorrow would come, and the day after tomorrow, and so next week, too. I never thought it would be this hard, but I would go on living in the midst of a gloomy depression, and that made me feel sick to the depths of my soul. In spite of the tempest raging within me, I walked the night path calmly (Yoshimoto 81). The detail was inserted to explain the eternal struggle of Mikage as she was transitioning through her life realizing she did not have anyone, and the labels placed upon women. Mikage experienced life, as it was, going through the agony of being a victim to social stereotypes regarding her norms. As time progress her self esteem slowly diminished. Also, in The Samurai it displayed the oppression that was placed upon the samurai because of his religion and beliefs in Japan, with this it made him disgusted by the way his supposed friend Paul acted towards him. ... • 21. Introduction Of An Inventory Control Method I.Introduction to Just in Time When discussing just in time most people will focus on its initial position as an inventory control method that attempts to match production as closely to sales as possible. This system attempts to do this by producing or purchasing items just in time to be used, and thereby minimize the cost of holding inventory (Lee Ebrahimpour, 2007; Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, 1995). One expert has stated that just in time seeks to produce and deliver finished goods just in time to be sold, sub assemblies just in time to be assembled into finished goods, fabricated parts just in time to go into subassemblies, and purchased materials just in time to be transformed into fabricated parts. In its most pure sense, just in time, seeks to have zero defects, zero machine setup times, zero re work, and zero lead time, from the time an order is placed with the company until the product is shipped to the purchaser (Lee Ebrahimpour, 2007). In this pure just in time inventory system, once raw materials enter the production facility they are not recorded or inventoried until they leave as a finished good (Epps, 1995). The concept of just in time was first established in the 1950 s by T. Ohno, the former executive Vice Present of the Toyota Motor Company in Japan, to meet the precise demands of customers for various models and colors of cars with a minimum delay (Swanson Lankford, 1998; Keller Kazazi, 1993). • 25. The Effect Of Temperature And Dissolved Oxygen... I.Introduction Anthropogenic climate change is causing hotter and drier conditions across the southwest United States. Decades of fire suppression campaigns have led to an accumulation of ladder fuels within forests across this region. Both of these factors are now contributing to more frequent and more extreme fires in recent years. These catastrophic fires cause significant changes to ground cover along stream corridors. The loss of ground cover significantly increases the amount of sediment entering watersheds, which can alter both temperature and dissolved oxygen levels throughout the system. The purpose of this paper is to examine the changes in water temperature and dissolved oxygen concentration associated with wildfire, how these changes can be controlled, how effective these controls are, and what more can be done. II.Temperature Fire can alter stream temperature in several different ways. First, and probably most short lived, is the immediate temperature spikes caused by the active burning. Second, fire has the potential to reduce overhead canopy cover, thus increasing light penetration and absorbance by the water. Finally, additions of large amounts of sediment (which increases the turbidity of water bodies) can increase the amount of light absorbed thereby increasing the water temperature. Temperatures in streams can spike during active burning and kill many aquatic invertebrates and vertebrates. In addition to this immediate consequence, the loss ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In her arrival to Los Angeles in 1933 she quickly perceive the constraints she would have to work under, from language barriers all the way to patriarchal challenges. • 39. Dracula, The Mummy, By Bram Stoker Wolfman, Frankenstein, The Mummy, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Dracula, all horrific images of the Universal Monsters created from the 1920s to the 1930s by Universal Studios. To the audience these monsters created panic and suspense that made leaving the lights on before bed a necessary precaution; they are what is seen as a true, scary, monstrous fiction. Many of these monsters did not begin their stories in cinema however; they began as novels. For Director Tod Browning s 1931 Dracula, Bram Stoker is truly the mastermind behind the character, in which Browning brought to life. In today s cinematic vision, we continue to do the same interpretation from novel to film however not with the same intention and with a new view. For example, Stephanie Meyer s vampiremonster drama Twilight was reimaged by Catherine Hardwicke in 2008 as a film, gives a whole new image to the classic monster compared to vampire Dracula. In contrast from Dracula to Twilight, the vampire genre almost becomes a terrifying interpretation of the past, and with societal interpretation the imagination of a cinematic monster almost becomes a mirroring image of its own time, and its own social environment ultimately creating a modern character that becomes more of a desire to be involved with than something to frighten. In the 1930 s while Cinema was at it s golden age in the discovery of sound, America economically was crushed. In Dinardo s Article, Who s America: Contesting the Meaning of ... There are benefits, as well as disadvantages that go along with either course of action (Exhibit 1 for details). When firms decide to go private, they are no longer listed on any stock exchange market. The pressure of keeping accounting regularity and reporting to the public is no longer an issue. • 42. Universal Health Care System Health care is one of the most important systems in this world. With insurance you are most likely to receie health care and have a better health status. Uninsured people are less likely to receive medical care and more likely to have poor health status. When you dont have insurance you are most likely to pay a lot more money for health care but if you have insurance they are most likely to cover the whole payment or most of the bill. A universal health care system would bring costs down and increase access to care. In 2005, 45 milion Americans lacked insurance which is over 15% of the population. America needs to get a universal healthcare system because health care is a right that people deserve but too few people have. The younger generations who are barely getting there first jobs, most of them dont have insurance which isnt good because not all jobs have insurance benefits included and people cant afford to get insurance, go to work, school and pay bills at there young age with their first job. • 43. Explain Paleey s Philosophical Position For The Existence... Paley s philosophical position for the existence of a deity can be summarized by the following statements. 1. Humans are made for a purpose. 2. If humans are made for a purpose, then there must be a creator behind that purpose. 3. Therefore, there is a creator. (1, 2, 3 MP) His reasoning for this is by comparing humans as a whole to a machine. Just like a watch, which has intricate parts that work for a grander design of telling time, so too does the eye for seeing (Feldman, 1994). The watch, Paley argues could not possibly have just came into being to fulfill the specific purpose which it presently does. According to Feldman (1994), this still points to a creator who designed its purpose and knew of its function. Even if it replicated itself ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
