Driverless Car Technology
Twenty first century technology secretly move in every corner of our life, computer, television, even
our fridge. Technology not only become the things that can make our life easier but also become
things that we needed. Over the last two years, driverless car become a hot topic. Is it safe? Should we

This historic balance further serves to protect our nation s economy and the public from untoward
interruptions of interstate commerce and the related economic constrictions while still permitting the
full range of collective bargaining opportunities. For those important reasons, Congress has not
revised the RLA substantively for over 28 years not since the still controverted 1981 legislation, which
established a new section 159a to the Act. That new provision addressed collective bargaining disputes
at public commuter railroads. Most RLA dispute resolution experts consider the 1981 amendment to
the Act to be counterproductive, as well as regarding with misgiving other proposed substantive
revisions to the RLA s statutory processes or extent of coverage which would disturb the historically
balanced protections afforded by the Act for our nation s airline and railroad industries and the broader

Poll Tax In Henry Thoreau s Resistance To Civil Government
Poll Tax
Poll tax, meaning a fee that has to be paid to satisfy taxpayer requirements in voting laws, and that the
only people who demonstrate financial tie to community were permitted for this kind of voting, was
the reason Henry Thoreau was arrested and sent to jail for the night. While in jail, he realized that
what had just happened to him was not right and needed to do something about it. The next day a
friend of his which happened to be his aunt paid his texas meaning he was free to go. Believe it or not,
Thoreau refused to be let out and wanted justice for what was illegally happening. Which is why he
wrote Resistance to Civil Government so everyone would read and know what was actually going on.
I believe that he presents an effective argument and fights for what he knows is right, which involved
poll tax, civil disobedience, and unjust laws.
One of Thoreau s strong argument points had to do with the whole situation of the poll tax. He didn t
see the need in people paying tax for something that they don t agree on nor want. He stopped paying
poll tax about six years ago because he believed that it supported the Mexican American war and the
expansion of slavery into the Southwest which he did not agree on. The next couple of days he was
out running errands and got arrested for that reason. Sam Staples, which was the cop who arrested
Thoreau, failed to take action against him for several years up until that day. In my opinion I feel like
if Staples didn t

Beauty Of Flies Research Paper
Warm sunny days invite people to fire up the grill and makes some delicious food. Lunch is extra
special out on the porch or deck. That is until the flies start arriving. Flies love the smell of food and
come from far and wide to visit your outdoor dining experience. They arrive making that annoying
buzzing sound. Then they land on your food. That is when it moves from annoying to disgusting.
How can you keep the flies away from your next cookout?
Start moving the air
Due to being so lightweight, flies cannot fly in a strong breeze. Using a simple box fan to blow air
across the grill and table will help keep the flies away. If you have a covered patio, have an outdoor
ceiling fan installed. That way, you can keep the flies away every day. ... Show more content on

Adding a bouquet of one or more of these herbs will deter the flying pests. Lavender, lemongrass,
basil, mint, and rosemary are particularly pungent to flies. Put a bouquet next to the grill and in the
center of the table to cover the most area.
Use essential oils as bug repellant
Essential oils offer an alternative to herbal bouquets. They can be applied to the skin to act as a
personal repellent. They can also be added to a diffuser placed in the middle of the table. The only
downside to essential oils is that you can t cook with them afterward.
Keep the drinks undercover
Flies love sugar. Sugary drinks like sodas and sweet tea are natural attractions for them. To keep them
away, keep drinks under cover. Drink containers should always have a lid. Serve drinks in covered
cups if possible. Wipe up spills.
Remove their close by breeding grounds
These flying pests breed in decaying natural material. You will notice that flies tend to hang around
the garbage cans or compost heap. If your outdoor garbage cans or compost area is close to your
outdoor grill/dining area, you will have more flies. Move those bins to another location. If the dog has
left a few piles in the backyard, clean them up before you have your cookout.

The Church Of New France
One of the many things the settlers of New France bought with them from France into North America
was religion. Historians have argued that the church played huge part in the lives of the people in New
France. Despite being far away from the leaders of the church and thus not directly under their control,
the church still played a role in the lives of the people of New France. By the 1600s Jesuit
missionaries had entered New France and started their attempts to convert the First Nations people. As
more settlers moved into New France it was more difficult for the church to keep its status. They
attempted with various methods to convert more First Nations and keep the European settlers in the
church. However, post 1663, after the creation of the Royal Colony, the issues regarding religion and
the issues it was causing did not decrease.
The primary source being used is a document by Annie Rollo Stagg titled The importance of religion
to woman . Secondary sources include the Role of the Church in New France , The People of New
France , Business and Religion in the Age of New France, 1600 1760: Twenty two Studies , and First
Establishment of the Faith in New France . I will argue that the church in post 1663 New France
played an enormous part of the people residing there, especially women. The church was not a place
for people to worship but politically, socially and economically influenced the post 1663 life in New
France.
The Roman Catholic Church was the exclusive

Immigration And Crime Essay
The economic theory of crime predicts that all else equal, individuals with lower outside options
commit more crimes than others. While immigrants are known to have lower levels of education,
lower wages, and higher unemployment rates than natives, previous studies have not found a
relationship between immigration and crime. Crime rates have been on a decline, even in areas where
there are large numbers of immigrant populations. Between the years 1990 and 2013, the foreign born
population grew from 7.9 percent to 13.5 percent in the U.S. Also during this time, data from the
Federal Bureau Investigation indicates that the violent crime has decreased almost 50% in robbery,

This data has been similar for decades. The 2010 U.S Census shows incarceration rates for less
educated Hispanics men who make up the majority of the unauthorized population is significantly
lower than the incarceration rate among native born young men without high school diplomas. In
2010, less educated native born men age 18 39 had an incarceration rate of 10.7 percent more than
triple the 2.8 percent rate among foreign born Mexican men, and five times greater than the 1.7
percent rate among foreign born Salvadoran and Guatemalan men. (Walter Ewing, Ph.D., Daniel E.
Martínez, Ph.D.) Data collected shows a positive correlation between immigrants and crime rates, but
not for violent crime rates due to illegal immigration. The crimes that were committed were brought
about from Hispanics and White segregation. Hispanics were not given jobs or give low pay jobs with
no benefits because of white segregation causing them to feel like they had to commit violent crimes
to support their selves and families. All in all, the results are the null hypothesis, that immigration
increases homicide rates in the U.S can be

Pros And Cons Of Partisan Emiliation
There is evidence in support of the idea that the parties have increasingly distinguished themselves
even on longstanding issues since the early 1970s, with an especially noticeable boost during the
Reagan years (Stoker Jennings, 2008, p. 629). Further support demonstrate that individuals do, indeed,
develop greater consistency between their partisan affiliation and their issue commitment as they age,
with the greatest gains usually coming in early adulthood (Stoker Jennings, 2008, p. 629). If this is
true, the Millenialls partisan affiliation is developing now. Over the past 30 to 40 years, growing
partisan polarization...has been driven by generational replacement as new entrants evinced greater

Writing Techniques That Appeal to Readers Essay
Writing Techniques That Appeal to Readers
Anyone who will be required to write at any time, no matter what the function of the writing, should
learn good writing techniques that appeal to readers. Every type of writing should possess something
that will draw the reader into the words to make the reader feel that he can relate to what he reads.
Many techniques can accomplish this goal of writing. Diction, organization, description, and titles are
all key parts of an essay that combine the author s thoughts and teelings in an effective manner.
Diction plays and extremely crucial role in all forms of writing. Word choice can make an essay
whether it is illustrative, narrative, or persuasive more easily understood. ... Show more content on

She does this by using examples from the past to back her main ideas. In the essay, Unlikely Learning,
Mary Kemmerer uses chronological order to explain how she passes her day in school. Danielle
Trasciatti s essay, Blue Band Emotional High uses some spacial organization although the primary
development is chronological. The author uses smaller, minor points to support the main idea.
Through the use of these forms of arrangement, the authors effectively expressed their points in a very
clear and discemible manner.
Another aspect that makes writing good is description. Description not only makes reading more
enjoyable, but helps the reader feel as if he or she is involved in what is going on in the essay. It also
adds life and reality to the writing. One essay that uses good description is Blue Band Emotional High.
Danielle Trasciatti uses description to paint a mental picture and helps the reader feel part of the
experience. She does it with description like, the smell of the dirt mixed with sweat filled the hot and
humid air. Chalk was floating around everywhere and was smeared all over the dirt around the 25 yard
line. Description brings the reader in and keeps him reading . A piece of writing would be incredibly
boring if there would be no description to interest the reader and help him create his own picture of

Jon Kabat Zinn is responsible for bringing mindfulness into the American mainstream and
encouraging it s integration into psychotherapy practices. Over the years, the benefits of mindfulness
have been observed and empirically studied, and psychologists have developed specific treatments
integrating mindfulness with behavior therapy. As such, these treatments have become part of what is
known as the third wave of behavior therapy. Marsha Linehan, a psychologist and researcher at the

It was developed by John Teasdale, Mark Williams, and Zindel Segal. MBCT is a hybrid of traditional
cognitive behavior therapy and mindfulness, and is built on the idea that people who are depressed
tend to have automatic negative thoughts and attach negative judgments to their experiences. The
mindfulness aspect of treatment helps individuals become more aware of their automatic thoughts, and
to simply observe them as transient events, rather than holding onto them. As individuals become
more aware of their automatic thoughts, they develop the capacity to move from a perspective of
reaction to reflection. MBCT is in part based on Jon Kabat Zinn s eight week Mindfulness Based

creators of MBCT developed it with the intention of helping people who have suffered from repeated

The Benefits of the Atkins Diet Essay
The Benefits of the Atkins Diet
The Atkins diet has been attacked in recent years and been accused of being a fad diet that does not
successfully cause weight loss and is the causes of health problems. The most criticized area of the
Atkins diet is the seemingly unlimited amount of fat and meat that is allowed within the diet. This
unconventional method of weight loss is the center of the animosity towards the Atkins diet. Though
this diet may not be the best method of weight loss for all dieters, it is beneficial and extremely
efficient for others. The Atkins diet is the best choice for dieters looking to lose a few superficial

The high fat content of the diet has caused many opponents of the Atkins diet to jump to the
conclusion that it must cause heart disease. This has been found to be completely untrue. In fact,
research from the New England Journal of Medicine found that several heart disease indicators
actually improved for those on the Atkins diet. They found an increase in serum triglyceride levels and
serum HDL (the good cholesterol) that was greater than those on the low fat diets. They also found
that both diets saw similar decreases in LDL (the bad cholesterol). Therefore, those on the Atkins diet
had a higher increase in good cholesterol that benefits the heart and the same amount of reduction in
bad cholesterol as the low fat diet. Though it would seem intuitively correct to assume that a diet that
is high in fat would cause heart disease, studies have proven that the Atkins diet is actually beneficial
to the heart.
In addition to being beneficial to the heart, the Atkins diet is very successful in losing weight
compared to low fat diets. Several studies have found that after six months those on the low
carbohydrate diets (like the Atkins diet) lost 3.9 kilograms (8.6 pounds) more weight than the low fat
diet group. However, these same studies found that after the participants were on the diets for twelve
months, there was no significant difference in the amount of weight that was lost. This supports the
idea that the Atkins diet is better for

Analysis Of The Novel Things Fall Apart
Things Fall Apart novel tries to bring back up cultural, social as well as spiritual basics of traditional
Igbo (Ibo) existence from the year 1850 and 1900. The novel cannot be fixed like truthful societal and
political old times of Ibo society since it is a work of invented story. However, the novel describes
disagreements and apprehensions in Igbo society. It also depicts changes initiated by colonial ruling
and Christianity. The author mentions that European colonialism operates as a powerful as well as
well built mediator of the change within Ibo society. Additionally, Christianity attracted the trivial
associates of the Igbo society. Igbo and other societies were changed considerably due to this variety
of deal with Europeans. A few societies expanded in dimension and authority as marketable centers,
whereas others go through great losses in the course of slave invasion. Hostility also gets higher, and
conflicts tactics tat are distorted due to the use of weapons.
In expressing the accomplishment of Catholic Missionaries Hatch, Roman Catholics appeared to be
most helpful within the endeavor by protecting a paramount place within Igbo society. According to
Chinua Achebe, Educational expansion was the invention of Igbo confined organization but not of
British supervision. As a result, other operation schools such as Anglican schools traced their private

Writing Themes In The Cold Equations By Tom Godwin
There are countless stories that one can read and forget about the next day, however this is not one.
The Cold Equations by Tom Godwin is such a moving story with so many incorporated themes that
leave an impacting message in the reader s life. I really enjoyed the writing style of Tom Godwin. He
starts with a phrase that gets the reader s attention immediately and gets us wondering why him not
being alone is such a big deal. After this he gives us the answer and some background information
about the frontier and jumps right into the story again. There s a lot of intensity to start with, but when
we are introduced to Marilyn the author gives us some relief and the way he does this is by using
literary language such as similes and metaphors and sarcasm. I love this contrast because it doesn t
stay at one level if not it changes in a way that is entertaining for the reader and it allows us to want to
read more. Not only this, but Tom Godwin uses a lot of situational and dramatic irony to add to the
intensity and story. Another reason this story stands out is because of all the theme that is incorporated
and not only the fact that there are many things but the technique used to incorporate the theme. Many
stories use the characters difficult situations or a symbol to introduce theme. On the other hand, Tom
Godwin uses situations that the reader can relate to and not only creates emotion within the characters,
but within the reader. Some themes I came across were: your actions

Bcg Matrix Is A Model Developed By Bruce Henderson Of The...
The BCG matrix is a model developed by Bruce Henderson of the Boston Consulting Group
(NetMBA). The goal of the BCG matrix was to allow fellow marketers to easily analyze a product,
whether it be old, or new, as to how effective it was in that particular market and if the product was
successful in its overall product growth and market share. When it comes to selling a product, a
company must overcome competitors in the same market who are looking to take a piece of the share
of consumers. Therefore, in order to be successful, the use of a model such as the BCG allows a
marketer to assess their competitive advantages as well as the ability to calculate the relative market
share. For example, once you have products that have hit the market and have already established
themselves, you can check back and cross examine those products to see which ones are important to
your success as an organization and which ones you should contemplate scaling back on because these
products may be viewed as questionable. According to NetMBA the BCG matrix contains four key
components; the stars, the cash cows, dogs, and question marks. The stars of the matrix are the go
getters. This part of the mix contains your products that continuously show an increase in growth
industry within the market and a high market share. In other words, these products have been so
superb that they influence deeper looks into how to smartly invest whilst bringing about a noticeable

The activities of Edward Teach were chiefly influenced by the maritime heritage of Bristol and
traditional practices, its dependency on sea commerce and privatization of business. Being an
educated person, it is speculated that he was educated, and most of the books he studied were of sea
exploration and travel. It is speculated that his life, merchandise and piracy influenced other people
including Young Teach.
The limited information about Blackbeard available indicates that he went to war in most of his
lifetime. During that time, most wars occurred in seas. There is no clear information on the time
Edward Teach left Bristol. However, Captain Charles Johnson,

Example Of Meme Research Paper
Meme had been born in the 1940 s, her older brothers soon went off to join the U.S. Army to fight in
World War II. Meme was born into a large family of poor farmers with seven other siblings. Allard

her starting out, especially since her family had been poor. One of Meme s favorite stories, after all,
was about how her first crib was a repurposed chester drawers.
How s it going Meme? I asked as I got into the little white car. Her real name was Alma Ford, but

The Building Of Cultures By R. B. Dixon
Similarly, The Building of Cultures (by R. B. Dixon in 1928) began with the lengthy dispute regarding
how one explained alike cultural traits occurring in geographically separate areas (1928, Dixon: 33;
also 182s). It could not be denied that every cultural quality was discovered or invented first. There
was always necessarily a beginning, a first for all. (1928, Dixon: 35). In the chapter Discovery and
Invention , he takes note to separate creation and discovery (conception) according to purpose ,
suggesting the two occur as a sequence: (accidental) conception, then (purposeful) creation. He then
goes on to discuss the factors of each in detail. Conception is made up of identification, opportunity,
and imagination that is appreciated. Invention is either directional or accidental, distinguished as being
an improvement or entirely new(He borrows from the sociologists H. S. Harrison and L. Bernard).
The responsible factors were available knowledge, needs, opportunity, and genius.
Finally, he goes on to discuss diffusion, step three in his sequence: Conceptualization creation
dispersal. In this model, individuals discover or invent and the process is unproductive and without
result until others adopt it . Without duplicating beyond the inventor or discoverer, the new quality
remains personal, an eccentricity, intriguing or entertaining, but not of great importance (1928, Dixon:
59).
Similar to Wissler s separation between random and determined diffusion, Dixon

Racial Representation In The Oscar Awards
Trying to fix a diversity problem doesn t have an instant solution. The Academy is facing this and
dealing with the racial representation in the Oscar Awards as it has become a huge problem in
Hollywood. Ira Deutchman, a member of the Academy, has stated Like many Academy members, I
was embarrassed and disappointed when this year s Oscar nominees were announced, but I wasn t
shocked. After all, no season passes without several scathing articles about the lack of diversity in
Hollywood, both on the screen and in executive suites. On the other hand, when fingers were pointed
at the membership of the Academy as the cause of the problem, I bristled at the implications

The For Purchasing Premium Ski Clothing Within Short
With little prior knowledge of running a successful SEM campaign using the vast array of tools
available in the AdWords interface, this project generated a number of challenges. The most difficult
aspect of the campaign was to express the reasons for purchasing premium ski clothing within short,
text based ads. The ads also had to align with the brand s values and not waste money on irrelevant
keywords. This challenge was overcome before and during the campaign via initial and ongoing
communication with the Pure Brandz CEO. Communication was not an issue because all work on the
campaign was performed at the client s office. The client was therefore able to trust that at no stage
would the campaign negatively affect the brand image or spend the marketing budget unnecessarily.
The resulting level of trust and frequent communication were useful in maintaining a stress free work
environment to create an effective SEM campaign. Working solo on this project meant that the client
was not able to collaborate at any stage of the process, could not gain knowledge from the experience,
and therefore did not share insights or participate in discussions on how to optimise any part of the
campaign. On the other hand, a team project must continually strive to prevent the possibility of
moving the campaign off course due to groupthink. Groupthink is caused when a potentially harmful
solution is agreed upon by all team members despite their internal objection due to their loyalty to the

Compare And Contrast Heydrich And Ernest Shackleton
(STATE THESIS) When it comes to the leading their respective teams, Ernest Shackleton and
Reinhard Heydrich s approaches to leadership could not be more contradictory. This is not to say that
their differences make either of them a good or misleader. Each individual demonstrated qualities that
would classify him in either category. However, it is ultimately the intentions of the leader and the
presence of or complete disregard for humanity that categorizes each man where he falls.
Holistically, in order to determine what makes an individual an effective leader or a misleader, one
must first understand the aspects of leadership. While it is impossible to condense what makes a leader
into a short list of qualities and ideas, for the intent of this paper, the comparative aspects of leadership
will be limited to: character, skills/talent, and results.
To begin, character can be understood as the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual.
Warren Buffet was quoted saying, there are three main qualities involved in leadership: integrity,
intelligence, and energy; without the first, the other two will kill you, (Warren Buffet). In reference to
Ernest Shackleton, the mariner was known by his crew to be optimistic, generous, and fair. At the
beginning of their expedition, however, these qualities were subdued by Shackleton s hubris. It should
be noted that, no mariner distinguished themselves on a smooth sea, (The Endurance Movie). With
that in mind, it was not

Corruption In The Catholic
The Vatican, situated within Rome, Italy, is the capital of the Catholic faith. Lead by a Pope, who is
chosen by the Cardinals when one dies or retires, is the source of leadership for Catholics around the
world. It has also been a source for many conspiracy theories. Dan Brown even set his Illuminati
based novel Angels and Demons in the holy city of Catholics. Many others love to have Illuminati
base theories set within this important place. What people do not realize is that there is a much deeper,
very real corruption going on within the walls of the sacred city. The Vatican recently arrested two
employees who worked on financial business for leaking information to two authors whose books will
be published and will expose the financial troubles of the Vatican. The books claims a misuse of
money by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While it is still debatable on whether or not the information in the expository books is trustworthy or
not, there is no doubt that financial mismanagement existed. If there had been no mismanagement, it
would be very odd that Pope Francis created groups and hired others to help with the finances and odd
that he chastised employees for the debts. It seems that Pope Francis is indeed what the leadership of
the Catholics needed. He has begun changing the way things are in social concerns as well. He focuses
on changing the Vatican and the leadership of the faith for the better. Financial corrections and the end
of corruption is just one of the many ways he is doing so. While it is not the deep conspiracy
corruption many in the world fantasize about, the financial troubles because of officials not wanting to
pay so much or whatever truly happened is still a troubling corruption in itself. Those who work for
the papacy need to embody the traits that believers would expect of someone who works for the
Catholic faith. Pope Francis is the one who will make sure that that reform is

Kodak Options Memo
In my March 6 memo, I discussed the need for Kodak to revamp its core strategy and regain
popularity. Eastman Kodak has been the leader of photography and printing products for nearly 130
years. Over the last few years Kodak has been in distress due to its poor fundamental shift into the
digital age. Lack of strategic creativity led Kodak to misunderstand the industry in which it was
operating. This lack of strategic creativity was costly for Kodak.
This memo will explore the options I briefly discussed in the previous memo, in order to find a
solution to this problem. Each option will be assessed based on the same criteria. The options to
consider are:
* Hire a new CEO new bolder leadership * Enter into a new aggressive ... Show more content on

These profits can be achieved through tracking consumer needs and maintaining efficiency within the

The option can revamp its line of attack to surpass current expectations. Though this option has a high
level of risk, if successful, would implement a drastic change to Kodak s strategy and overall
performance for the good of company leaders, employees, and stakeholders. The new CEO will be
evaluated after one year by leaders, employees, and stakeholders.
Option 2: Enter into a new aggressive market
Kodak currently has no position within the ink market. The ink business is a $45 billion a year sector
that could regenerate Kodak s position in the printing sector. The market for ink is dominated by HP,
followed by Epson, Canon, and Lexmark. Entering a complete new market may be beneficial in its
current position. According to Kodak, the greatest obstacle to printing at home is the cost of ink and
supplies. Kodak can develop a cost efficient solution that will be more appealing to consumers. With
the launch of this product, Kodak must focus on several sectors of business: marketing, pricing,
distribution, and production. Onesource (2011). * Marketing Kodak is the world s foremost imaging
innovator. Its reputation in the film printing business is dominant. Introducing a new line of cost
efficient printer ink will be effective and popular. Kodak s target market will include anyone with a
household printer. Kodak s goal will focus

The Pros And Cons Of Evaluating NASA
You are the same age as the universe, because matter can never be created or destroyed. NASA will be
fifty eight years old tomorrow, October 1, 2016. Since the start of the NASA program, in October of
1958, we have had many different projects to explore and discover more about what is around our
world. Many criteria that can be used to evaluate NASA, and these criteria are past tragedies, past
successes, theories for travel, type of transportation, funding, popularity, reputation, long term impact,
short term impact, and scientific discoveries. NASA has had three major past tragedies that still linger
over the program today. The first major tragedy for NASA came at a fragile time. During the start of
the Apollo program three astronauts who were scheduled to be sent into orbit on Apollo One died from
a fire. This fire started from an electrical failure in their simulation practice pod as the three men,
Virgil I. Grissom, Edward H. White II, Roger B. Chaffee, were inclosed in the pure oxygen chamber.

Pulp Fiction Themes
Pulp Fiction (1994) is a mesmerizing, violent and entertaining movie. It has a bizarre cast of
characters, a nonlinear sequence of events and endless references to pop culture. The underlying
theme of the movie, however, deals with religion and the transformation of two characters: Jules
(Samuel L. Jackson) and Butch (Bruce Willis).
In the beginning of the film, Vincent (John Travolta) has returned from a stay in Amsterdam, and the
conversation between Jules and Vincent deals with what Big Macs and Quarter Pounders are called in
Europe. As the movie moves on, other references are the Fonz on Happy Days, Arnold the Pig on
Green Acres, the band Flock of Seagulls, Caine from Kung Fu, TV pilots, and other such ... Show

Jules always quotes this just before he kills someone. The point is that the passage refers to a system
of values and meaning by which one could lead one s life and make moral decisions. However, that
system has no connection with Jules s life and as he realizes later, the passage is actually meaningless
to him.
In addition to the pop references in the film, its dialogue on language is concerned with naming things.
What s a Big Mac called? What s a Quarter Pounder called? What s a Whopper called? When Ringo
(Tim Roth) calls the waitress garçon, she tells him: garçon means boy . When Butch s girlfriend refers
to his means of transportation as a motorcycle, he insists on correcting her: It s not a motorcycle, it s a
chopper. When a Hispanic cab driver, however, asks Butch what his name means, he replies: This is
America, honey; our names don t mean shit. The point is clear that in the absence of any lasting
ambition or value and meaning, our language no longer points to anything beyond itself. To call
something good or evil makes it so since there s no higher authority or criteria by which one might
judge such things. Jules quotes the Bible before his executions, but he might as well be quoting the
Fonz or Buddy Holly.
This absence of any kind of system for making value judgments, this lack of a larger meaning to their
lives, creates a

Cry, The Beloved Country
Alan Paton s Cry, the Beloved Country takes place during the late 1940 s in Southern Africa.
Specifically, in High Place, Ndotsheni, and Johannesburg. It takes place during a time of social
change. There is racial inequality taking place during the late 1940 s. The novel shows what it was like
to be living during this time. Cry, the Beloved Country has an urban and crowded feeling for most of
the novel. This novel is written in past tense, third person omniscient point of view. Occasionally, the
narrator would shift from character to character. Since it is written in an omniscient point of view, the
reader gains better knowledge on not only the plot; but a better understanding of the characters, too. It
also helps the reader get a well rounded perspective of what the setting was like. Cry, the Beloved
Country consists of thirty six chapters that vary in length. This novel has a simple plot. The characters
in the novel are very believable and are revealed simply by stating their name and a description, or
with background knowledge of the character. There are quite a few characters in Cry, the Beloved
Country and their role is to help move the plot along. The central characters are Arthur Jarvis,
Theophilus Msimangu, Absalom Kumalo, James Jarvis, and Stephen Kumalo.

Dangerous chemicals Almost every marine living being, from a minor tiny fish to whales and polar

the normal customer product. Some of these chemicals enter the ocean through intentional dumping.
For a considerable length of time, the seas have been an advantageous dumping ground for waste

transfer of about everything, including dangerous material, for example, pesticides, substance
weapons, and radioactive waste.
Dumping of the most poisonous materials was banned from the London Dumping Convention in
1972, and a changed bargain at 1996 (the London Convention) further confined what could be
dumped adrift. Be that as it may, there are still the issues of as of now dumped lethal material, and
even the transfer of allowed substances adrift can be a generous ecological hazard.Chemicals

What is a federal bureaucracy? According to American Government: Roots and Reform federal
bureaucracy is defined as the thousands of federal government agencies and institutions that
implement and administer federal laws and programs. When the bureaucracy was first created it

Poll Tax In Henry Thoreau s Resistance To Civil Government Poll Tax Poll tax, meaning a fee that has to be paid to satisfy taxpayer requirements in voting laws, and that the only people who demonstrate financial tie to community were permitted for this kind of voting, was the reason Henry Thoreau was arrested and sent to jail for the night. While in jail, he realized that what had just happened to him was not right and needed to do something about it. The next day a friend of his which happened to be his aunt paid his texas meaning he was free to go. Believe it or not, Thoreau refused to be let out and wanted justice for what was illegally happening. Then they land on your food. That is when it moves from annoying to disgusting. How can you keep the flies away from your next cookout? Start moving the air Due to being so lightweight, flies cannot fly in a strong breeze. Using a simple box fan to blow air across the grill and table will help keep the flies away. If you have a covered patio, have an outdoor ceiling fan installed. That way, you can keep the flies away every day. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Adding a bouquet of one or more of these herbs will deter the flying pests. Lavender, lemongrass, basil, mint, and rosemary are particularly pungent to flies. Put a bouquet next to the grill and in the center of the table to cover the most area. Use essential oils as bug repellant Essential oils offer an alternative to herbal bouquets. They can be applied to the skin to act as a personal repellent. They can also be added to a diffuser placed in the middle of the table. The only downside to essential oils is that you can t cook with them afterward. Keep the drinks undercover Flies love sugar. Sugary drinks like sodas and sweet tea are natural attractions for them. To keep them away, keep drinks under cover. Drink containers should always have a lid. Serve drinks in covered cups if possible. Wipe up spills. Remove their close by breeding grounds These flying pests breed in decaying natural material. You will notice that flies tend to hang around the garbage cans or compost heap. If your outdoor garbage cans or compost area is close to your outdoor grill/dining area, you will have more flies. Move those bins to another location. If the dog has left a few piles in the backyard, clean them up before you have your cookout. Cover

Historians have argued that the church played huge part in the lives of the people in New France. Despite being far away from the leaders of the church and thus not directly under their control, the church still played a role in the lives of the people of New France. By the 1600s Jesuit missionaries had entered New France and started their attempts to convert the First Nations people. As more settlers moved into New France it was more difficult for the church to keep its status. They attempted with various methods to convert more First Nations and keep the European settlers in the church. However, post 1663, after the creation of the Royal Colony, the issues regarding religion and the issues it was causing did not decrease. This has been found to be completely untrue. In fact, research from the New England Journal of Medicine found that several heart disease indicators actually improved for those on the Atkins diet. They found an increase in serum triglyceride levels and serum HDL (the good cholesterol) that was greater than those on the low fat diets. They also found that both diets saw similar decreases in LDL (the bad cholesterol). Therefore, those on the Atkins diet had a higher increase in good cholesterol that benefits the heart and the same amount of reduction in bad cholesterol as the low fat diet. Though it would seem intuitively correct to assume that a diet that is high in fat would cause heart disease, studies have proven that the Atkins diet is actually beneficial to the heart. The Cold Equations by Tom Godwin is such a moving story with so many incorporated themes that leave an impacting message in the reader s life. I really enjoyed the writing style of Tom Godwin. He starts with a phrase that gets the reader s attention immediately and gets us wondering why him not being alone is such a big deal. After this he gives us the answer and some background information about the frontier and jumps right into the story again. There s a lot of intensity to start with, but when we are introduced to Marilyn the author gives us some relief and the way he does this is by using literary language such as similes and metaphors and sarcasm. I love this contrast because it doesn t stay at one level if not it changes in a way that is entertaining for the reader and it allows us to want to read more. Not only this, but Tom Godwin uses a lot of situational and dramatic irony to add to the intensity and story. Another reason this story stands out is because of all the theme that is incorporated and not only the fact that there are many things but the technique used to incorporate the theme. Many stories use the characters difficult situations or a symbol to introduce theme. On the other hand, Tom Godwin uses situations that the reader can relate to and not only creates emotion within the characters, but within the reader. Some themes I came across were: your actions ... The goal of the BCG matrix was to allow fellow marketers to easily analyze a product, whether it be old, or new, as to how effective it was in that particular market and if the product was successful in its overall product growth and market share. When it comes to selling a product, a company must overcome competitors in the same market who are looking to take a piece of the share of consumers. Therefore, in order to be successful, the use of a model such as the BCG allows a marketer to assess their competitive advantages as well as the ability to calculate the relative market share. For example, once you have products that have hit the market and have already established themselves, you can check back and cross examine those products to see which ones are important to your success as an organization and which ones you should contemplate scaling back on because these products may be viewed as questionable. Dixon in 1928) began with the lengthy dispute regarding how one explained alike cultural traits occurring in geographically separate areas (1928, Dixon: 33; also 182s). It could not be denied that every cultural quality was discovered or invented first. There was always necessarily a beginning, a first for all. (1928, Dixon: 35). In the chapter Discovery and Invention , he takes note to separate creation and discovery (conception) according to purpose , suggesting the two occur as a sequence: (accidental) conception, then (purposeful) creation. He then goes on to discuss the factors of each in detail. Conception is made up of identification, opportunity, and imagination that is appreciated. Invention is either directional or accidental, distinguished as being an improvement or entirely new(He borrows from the sociologists H. S. Harrison and L. Bernard). The responsible factors were available knowledge, needs, opportunity, and genius. Finally, he goes on to discuss diffusion, step three in his sequence: Conceptualization creation dispersal. In this model, individuals discover or invent and the process is unproductive and without result until others adopt it . Without duplicating beyond the inventor or discoverer, the new quality remains personal, an eccentricity, intriguing or entertaining, but not of great importance (1928, Dixon: 59). The For Purchasing Premium Ski Clothing Within Short With little prior knowledge of running a successful SEM campaign using the vast array of tools available in the AdWords interface, this project generated a number of challenges. The most difficult aspect of the campaign was to express the reasons for purchasing premium ski clothing within short, text based ads. The ads also had to align with the brand s values and not waste money on irrelevant keywords. This challenge was overcome before and during the campaign via initial and ongoing communication with the Pure Brandz CEO. • 35. Kodak Options Memo In my March 6 memo, I discussed the need for Kodak to revamp its core strategy and regain popularity. Eastman Kodak has been the leader of photography and printing products for nearly 130 years. Over the last few years Kodak has been in distress due to its poor fundamental shift into the digital age. Lack of strategic creativity led Kodak to misunderstand the industry in which it was operating. This lack of strategic creativity was costly for Kodak. This memo will explore the options I briefly discussed in the previous memo, in order to find a solution to this problem. Each option will be assessed based on the same criteria. The options to consider are: * Hire a new CEO new bolder leadership * Enter into a new aggressive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These profits can be achieved through tracking consumer needs and maintaining efficiency within the value chain. The option can revamp its line of attack to surpass current expectations. Though this option has a high level of risk, if successful, would implement a drastic change to Kodak s strategy and overall performance for the good of company leaders, employees, and stakeholders. The new CEO will be evaluated after one year by leaders, employees, and stakeholders. Option 2: Enter into a new aggressive market Kodak currently has no position within the ink market. The ink business is a $45 billion a year sector that could regenerate Kodak s position in the printing sector. The market for ink is dominated by HP, followed by Epson, Canon, and Lexmark. Entering a complete new market may be beneficial in its current position. According to Kodak, the greatest obstacle to printing at home is the cost of ink and supplies. Kodak can develop a cost efficient solution that will be more appealing to consumers. With the launch of this product, Kodak must focus on several sectors of business: marketing, pricing, distribution, and production. Onesource (2011). * Marketing Kodak is the world s foremost imaging innovator. Its reputation in the film printing business is dominant. • 36. The Pros And Cons Of Evaluating NASA You are the same age as the universe, because matter can never be created or destroyed. NASA will be fifty eight years old tomorrow, October 1, 2016. Since the start of the NASA program, in October of 1958, we have had many different projects to explore and discover more about what is around our world. Many criteria that can be used to evaluate NASA, and these criteria are past tragedies, past successes, theories for travel, type of transportation, funding, popularity, reputation, long term impact, short term impact, and scientific discoveries. NASA has had three major past tragedies that still linger over the program today. The first major tragedy for NASA came at a fragile time. During the start of the Apollo program three astronauts who were scheduled to be sent into orbit on Apollo One died from a fire. This fire started from an electrical failure in their simulation practice pod as the three men, Virgil I. Grissom, Edward H. White II, Roger B. Chaffee, were inclosed in the pure oxygen chamber. • 37. Pulp Fiction Themes Pulp Fiction (1994) is a mesmerizing, violent and entertaining movie. It has a bizarre cast of characters, a nonlinear sequence of events and endless references to pop culture. The underlying theme of the movie, however, deals with religion and the transformation of two characters: Jules (Samuel L. Jackson) and Butch (Bruce Willis). In the beginning of the film, Vincent (John Travolta) has returned from a stay in Amsterdam, and the conversation between Jules and Vincent deals with what Big Macs and Quarter Pounders are called in Europe. As the movie moves on, other references are the Fonz on Happy Days, Arnold the Pig on Green Acres, the band Flock of Seagulls, Caine from Kung Fu, TV pilots, and other such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jules always quotes this just before he kills someone. The point is that the passage refers to a system of values and meaning by which one could lead one s life and make moral decisions. However, that system has no connection with Jules s life and as he realizes later, the passage is actually meaningless to him. In addition to the pop references in the film, its dialogue on language is concerned with naming things. What s a Big Mac called? What s a Quarter Pounder called? What s a Whopper called? When Ringo (Tim Roth) calls the waitress garçon, she tells him: garçon means boy . When Butch s girlfriend refers to his means of transportation as a motorcycle, he insists on correcting her: It s not a motorcycle, it s a chopper. When a Hispanic cab driver, however, asks Butch what his name means, he replies: This is America, honey; our names don t mean shit. The point is clear that in the absence of any lasting ambition or value and meaning, our language no longer points to anything beyond itself. To call something good or evil makes it so since there s no higher authority or criteria by which one might judge such things. Jules quotes the Bible before his executions, but he might as well be quoting the Fonz or Buddy Holly. This absence of any kind of system for making value judgments, this lack of a larger meaning to their lives, creates a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
